it is funny when people confuse Devon Rexes with Cornish Rexes, because one breed is this bow-legged football-headed pitbull monkey, and one is just straight up an Italian greyhound.
Devon Rexes are hamburgers, and Cornish Rexes are hotdogs. if that helps.

In light of Hades 2 adding new designs and MORE Nyxblings, here's a little face study I did of Chaos, Nyx, and their family. Someone once mentioned that Nyx's children who's got features she doesn't have actually have Chaos' features instead, and I wanted to compare and see which child resembles who more.
Additionally, shoutout to @blood-starved-beast for their post about the age order of Nyx's children because it has helped immensely with the brainrot.
Detailed analysis under the cut.
Firstly, the parents:
Tumblr media
For parent and daughter, Chaos and Nyx don't really look the same. However, the cheekbones and jawline that could cut glass is hereditary lol. I wonder if there are other children of Chaos who look more similar to them?
I also like how Chaos' Hades 2 appearance could be a nod to them reconnecting with Nyx and probably wanting to look more "normal" (or as normal as they could get) for the family reunions. The exact same makeup style is cute.
Next up, we have the older children (excluding the Fates, whom we haven't seen yet):
Tumblr media
Charon is a tough nut to crack because his portrait is so heavily shadowed and he also wears a bigass hat, so I don't really know his facial structure, but from what I could see, it's more like Chaos'.
Moros' eye shape is weirdly different from the rest of the siblings, but they appear to be downturned and large, which is closer to Nyx's eye shape. While his facial structure is more like Chaos', his eyes in particular make him look softer.
Nemesis actually has a different face structure from Nyx. Her coloring is the exact same (sans skin tone), but not the face. However, her hairstyle is similar, including the updo.
Lastly, the younger children:
Tumblr media
It's probably because Hypnos' expression was drawn more comically, but as soon as I take a good look at his new portrait it's made greatly apparent that he and Thanatos are actually identical in terms of facial features. What makes them appear even more different is the hairstyle; Than's go straight down, Hypnos' is fluffy and piled high on his head. They also have similar face shape as Nyx, but with a squarer jawline.
You'd think their hairstyles are radically different. However, this official art of long-haired Than shows that his hair curls at the ends. His hair is straight now, but I'd like to think he straightens it out, because otherwise it would look a bit wavy still.
As for Eris, people keep saying that Nem looks like Nyx the most, but Eris looks astonishingly similar to Nyx. Oh, the irony of looking like the parent you detest.
Summary (and some thoughts):
Face structure-wise, the older children look more like Chaos, while the younger children look more like Nyx.
Of all Nyxblings we've known, only Nemesis has black hair.
Except for Charon, the children's eye art style is reversed between Chaos' and Nyx's (the ones with purple eyes have visible pupils and highlights, while the gold-eyed ones have no visible pupil or highlight).
Where did the curly hair genes come from? The twins are explicitly stated to be fatherless, too. Maybe some other children of Chaos have curly hair? Maybe Gaia, as she was mentioned in Hades 2?
I have a theory that the older children look more eldritch (more similar to Chaos), and only started to look "normal" during Nyx's separation from Chaos, and the cutoff point is Moros, unless Momus is older than him. Would be cool if the Fates are an amalgam of three bodies, because they're triplets and older than Charon.
Thanatos cutting his hair was actually a smart decision because his new hairstyle flatters his face shape more. I'm sorry darling but you don't have game in styling long hair. Too bad he and Moros don't know each other, big brother could've given him tips.
The entire family is hot. Nuff said.

SHEPARD HEADCANONS
(Tw. Cringy, probably ooc, and their ages are like that bc I like to parallel them with the curtis’s)
(And maybe for shipping)
— —
-Curly was born out of an affair
-They all share the same mom, but Curly has a different father. He was born 9 months after Angela- and it was meant to be 10 he was just premature. When Tim and Angela’s dad found out, him and their mom had a huge fight that Tim overheard and Angela- who was like one- only knows about because of comments their mom made. He ended up getting super drunk and crashed his car, running over the other man in the process who was also drunk
-Curly never met his birth father, but their mom got remarried like a year later and their step-dad fucking hated curly so much and was actually very abusive to him
-Curly found out because of a fight between him and Tim OR his mom said something
(PLEASE I actually need to tap about this so badly)(just let me flesh it out a bit more)
-Tim moved out when he was 16 and Buck helped him get a house. Angela moved in when she was around 13 and Curly a year later(I’m gonna work on the timeline later)
-Tim is 19-20, Angela 15-16, Curly 13-14. I haven’t decided yet
-Curly and Tim both have blue eyes while Angels are brown, and if that’s any different in canon I have not read That Was Then, This Is Now. Their mom had rlly strong genes that hated Angela ig
-Curly gets compared a lot to Tim and it actually annoys him because he does not want to live in Tim’s shadow
-When Curly’s in reformatory, Angela gets rid of most of the dust in his room because it makes him sneeze and she doesn’t want to hear him groan and moan about it(and totally not because she loves him)
-they actually do love each, but because of the environment they grew up in they don’t know how to show it
-Curly is crazy good at first aid and patching up wounds because of his step dad and he got bored and took a first aid course in reformatory or school, but sometimes he’ll go to his siblings because he just wants someone else to do it
-Idk why but I lowkey hc Curly as trans- ftm
-Angela and Curly go out to smoke and just kinda walk around town for a while when one of them is upset or sm
-When Curly first came to Tim broken and bloody from their step-dad, Tim stayed by him all night and like cried for 5 minutes
-Angela paints her nails dark blue to try and match with her brothers- not that she’d ever tell them
-They all hate winter
-Curly and/or Tim have the occasional habit of stuffing out cigarettes on their arms or shoulders
-They all have tattoos on their forearms: Angela’s is a wilting rose and I have no clue what Tim or Curly’s are
-Angela cuts Curly’s hair while Tim does his own
-They all have their own room but they’re all kinda small and Tim has the habit of falling asleep on the couch Andy they don’t really have bed frames
-They all hate fish
-Curly’s got a bunch of scars from roughhousing, his step-dad, his own stupidity, and his own bad habits
-Curly likes chewing gum but isn’t that big of a fan of popping it
-Curly is the only one that can actually kinda cook because lord knows his parents didn’t- Tim and Angela usually just swipe take out or have something they heat up. They know basics but curly lowkey knows a bit more
-Angela has a habit of twirling her hair between her fingers
-They all like rock music
-Curly got so many concussions as a kid, Tim and Angela were worried he’d have permanent damage
-Curly can’t go a day without bruised knees- or just bruises in general
-They call Curly ‘curly fry’ to piss him off bc he actually doesn’t like curly fries specifically. Really the only fries he doesn’t like
-Curly knows sign language. Idk why he just does
-Curly’s a drop out bc let’s be honest they could NOT afford school, so Pony comes by occasionally to teach him what they’re learning bc Curly hates feeling stupid compared to others or sm I don’t know
-they all have piercings
— —
Probably wildly ooc but imma be honest, I have basically no idea what their personalities are
TRUST I’m gonna fix the timeline so it’ll make sense to not just me

Uchiha Head-canons pt. 2
A non exhaustive list of my favorite mostly old Uchiha HC’s from back before the manga was completed, and which still exist to me because canon never actually explicitly answered any of the questions:
The sharingan is a proper Divine Blessing/Curse, (somewhat confirmed by canon) in that it is borrowed power that has a somewhat separate Will of its own; it’s not exactly sentient, but it can respond to the emotional energy of its user independently of their conscious or logical desires, I.e. to defend them. Furthermore this is a large reason why the Uchiha face discrimination in the first place; when cornered or threatened, their eyes just do — there is no second guess or real conscience, their power will conjure up any visions of hell it so pleases to deter you from attacking or killing its host.
Secondary to this, since all sharingan can conjure Genjutsu, this is very typically the form in which defensive action takes place. It’s far worse if one has a mangekyou that specializes in it, like Itachi or Shisui, but ultimately all sharingan can and will react defensively by conjuring a Genjutsu.
Speaking of Shisui, one of my favorite HC’s about his name (meaning “still water/doldrum”) is that he got it for having been mistaken as stillborn. Dark, but suits him and his story just fine.
Itachi (meaning “weasel”) is named after Izuna (meaning “stoat”, and animal very like a weasel but tiny lol, they’re also called an ermine when they change colour in winter.)
As I’m sure many followers know by now, and as a repeat, I totally HC a strong prevalence of Autism in the Uchiha clan. It just explains so much.
On a related note (haha punny) I think it DOES in fact make sense for there to be an auspicious absence of anti-incest instinct in the Uchiha clan, because, yknow, it’s kind of integral to their continued existence. This theory gets a lot of crap from antis, but I’m not even a hard shipper really, I just think it suits the narrative implications. 🤷‍♀️
I don’t think I’ve seen this HC elsewhere but I’ve had it forever: awakening the sharingan too young is often fatal, AND there is such a thing as sharingan abilities too powerful for their user. Canon also sort of confirmed this later with Sasuke. But I’m talking like, a Mangekyou ability that will kill its host if they’re too young or too weak for it. Part and parcel of it being a supernatural power.
Speaking of narrative implications: Hyuuga and Uchiha blood don’t mix well. I personally like this explanation better than the whole vicious rivalry thing because that’s kind of counter to the whole founding point of Konoha???? So let there be an inciting cause: that for one reason or another, Hyuuga x Uchiha results in poor outcomes. Either it’s prone to rendering the offspring completely powerless, or it renders them too powerful for their own sake; either it results in most likely a Byakugan that’s un-turn-off-able, or it quite possibly results in a higher incidence of rinnegan, which might I remind you tends to kill its hosts.
Under similar pretense, Uchiha and Senju blood don’t particularly mix well either…except that they do, and that is precisely the problem. I’ve long HC’ed Kagami and Shisui as possessing Senju blood to explain their power differences. (And curly hair, maybe) Madara and Izuna too I wish to believe have Senju blood, perhaps more distantly, or else they’ve got Mystery Blood that’s not pure Uchiha. Which is deliberately very ironic lol.
As a final and very dark HC, the fact that Uchiha do canonically practice a form of selective breeding/eugenics means that the culls have to go somewhere. Given how valuable their genes are, as well as how very traditional, I imagine that they officially send their unwanted away to live better lives…which is to say that they might tell people that, and indeed some families probably did, but the real world historical precedent for this both in Japan and out has always been infanticide. 😢 I mean there’s also the precedent from families who didn’t agree with the practice, as I said, where they’d send their littles away, sometimes crippling them on purpose depending on why, (intentionally blinded Uchiha survivors, anybody?) which I also HC, but there is likely something of an unspoken assumption that kids who “just didn’t make it” were, in fact, murdered. The politics of this are interesting and very disturbing at the same time lol.
I’ll probably be back with round 3 at some point but for now have all the brainrot

do you have a favorite RTC headcanon?
There are so many to pick from… let’s see. I’ll give a few- one for each character:
I’d say one of favorites comes from my most difficult character to write: Ricky.
As I mentioned before in an earlier post, but never really wrote it properly- him lifting up his crutches instead of raising a hand in class. It’s definitely not something he’d do all the time (those things are heavy after a while); if anything, it would be rare to see.
But Ricky can be a very cheeky, playful character, and in my head- he, on occasion, wouldn’t help but to just pop a crutch up as a statement piece during role call.
Another favorite is that Jane- do to her lack of head, stares 90% of the time DIRECTLY at her friends faces. It’s unnerving (especially when she doesn’t blink) but part of her tries to envision what her own head might have looked like… especially with all the different facial features humans have.
It’s the same way with hair- Constance had the most textured hair of the group (going off of the 2016 cast) so of course Jane would be over there. Our favorite resident doll is curious, what can I say?
Ocean doesn’t cuss… until she actually does. She’s horrified by the word as it rolls off of her tongue. It’s probably something like- shit, bitch. Nothing harsher than that. (Justifying “bitch” as meaning a female dog. Nothing more than that- “it’s just a fact!”)
Constance is definitely a dad’s girl. She would arm wrestle with him on occasion (and sometimes he’d let her win… at least until she got strong enough to mostly win... and then he started losing for real.)
Noel is enamored with curly hair- one of my headcanons from my warehouse au is that he got the straight haired gene in his family, but his mother has these lovely, flowing curls. He learned how to care for her hair, and it became as soothing to him as it was for her. On that same wavelength- he’d also be ready good at styling wigs.
Mischa, I’ve written a lot about. All in all, I adore soft Mischa. Mischa as an older brother figure to Jane: protective, stern- but caring. Or him as a definite mama’s boy: it’s no wonder he thinks so highly of the women around him. (Except for Ocean. She’s on her own.)
And lastly, Karnak. I can see him as a daydreamer. He can’t exactly close his eyes, but when there’s no one asking for fortunes, he dreams of all of the different scenarios he comes across, putting himself in their shoes in the only way he knows how. Strangely, each dream has Virgil in it.

I have a theory/ headcanon that Arin is adopted.
This isn't really important or relevant to the overall story of DR but I think Arin is adopted
(fun side note, according to Google. In Sanskrit, Arin (अरिन्) means a wheel, discus or having spokes. Which is fitting for a student of spinjitzu, me thinks.)
So first let's look at Arin's parents. Unlike Arin they both have relatively straight hair. His mam having a slight wave while his dad's is almost curly.
(Also they are both voice by light skinned people, not solid proof but Arin is voiced by an actual black va so it's possible)
Overall we don't have much to go on with Lego people but you can also tell Arin has different eyebrows from his folks too.
Also it's hard to tell but their hair seems browner than his though that could just be the lighting of the scenes they're in.
Overall it seems like it would be hard to get Arin's features from the genes of these two people.
(important note: I think it's very possible. All kinds of genes skip generations and people can straighten, perm etc their hair, so on so forth, I just like simple explanations.)
So, if Arin isn't biologically their kid then what's up? Simple, he's adopted, I'd assume from a young age. Maybe even from birth. I think he is fully aware and it was never treated like a secret.
Reasons why I think this would be cool?
I am adopted and I wanna see more adopted kids who just treat their family as normal, not everyone goes on some epic quest to learn their bio parents are gods or something ya know?
Also it's just cute if the only healthy parent child relationships in this show are from an adopted family.

I headcanon that Kaito has brown hair like Chikage's and Aoko's but he dyes his hair black/wears a kind of wig to look more like his father with a different hair style, I know it could be the lighting but it's driving me insane how Kid sometimes has black hair. I deeply sympathise with people who mistook his many shades of blue for purple, on the topic of eyes Chikage likes to dye her hair fun colours and wear coloured contacts so she always looks different (headcanon again - it just fits with her criminal history and free spirit lifestyle), I can't decide if I prefer her with brown, green or purple eyes.
On a similar not ho do you feel about Akako having hair such a night-black it's almost purple as opposed to her ombre of crimson and scarlet she had originally in the anime to match her red eyes? I think manga Hakuba was blonde with pale blue eyes, then anime Hakuba had light brown/dirty blonde hair and red eyes and then golden blonde (almost yellow) hair and brown eyes - what appearance of his is your favourite?
Also I headcanon that Midoriko has British heritage and that's partly why she's extra excited to befriend Hakuba (Gosho doesn't understand recessive genes, red and purple eyes could by due to albinism but blue eyes? No), it would fit the theme more if she had green eyes and Aoko's blue eyes were a mutation/skipped a generation and so happened to fit her birthstone but blue eyes would make more sense genetically (maybe she can have turquoise eyes, a blue-green colour).
THIS WAS ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I WAS VERY EXCITED TO ANSWER.
One thing I really liked about 1412 was Kaito's hair color change, how he decided to dye it black every time he disguises himself as KID. I think this is a great move because Toichi had black hair and can trick Snake better this way!
GOD, do you know what Kaito's hair looked like in episode 76? If you don't remember, please check out this screenshot.
Tumblr media
Okay, I know that his hair is actually spiked, but I really like to think that it actually looks like that and he only combs it in spikes because that's how Aoko combs her hair.
BUT I LIKE TO FANTASIZE ABOUT HIS HAIR BEING LIKE THIS, WAVY. Can you imagine if he dyed it red? Well, this is very off topic, but I like to fantasize that when Kaito stops being a CHILD he dyes his hair to close cycles.
Note: I actually have an argument in my head to justify why Kaito should grow his curly hair, dye it red and dress like a biker while traveling the world.
I stop being a normal person when we talk about Kaito's hair, here, I have this appreciation post and a video of simply, Kaito's hair.
In fact, in some movies his hair as KID looks black and in 1412 he actually changes it to black. I've also seen episodes of Detco where he has it black, friend, don't worry, you're not crazy I believe you. In fact, I really love Kaito's curly black hair from movie 3.
Back to the topic of his eyes, I actually watched Magic Kaito 1412 first before Detco, so I was always confused as to why people said Kaito's eyes were purple… Then I understood! In Detco sometimes his eye color looked different.
I'm all for saying his eyes are blue or purple, or even the idea that they're actually purple and he just wears contact lenses.
Tumblr media
Personally, I really like (TOO MUCH) the headcanon that Chikage is French, according to Google, in France the majority of women have brown hair and some are natural blondes. I like to think her original hair color was actually blonde or red… I’m going to adopt your headcanon! Because Chikage could definitely dye her hair and wear contact lenses!
Personally, I'm leaning towards the fact that she's originally a redhead with green eyes, but it would also be cool if she had purple eyes to pass down to Kaito.
For a long time I thought Chikage's eyes were yellow, lmao, you could say she wears contact lenses. Let's take all the colors! She could change her outfit every week! I mean, she's also a master of disguise, I don't doubt she has wigs a long list of contact lenses available.
Tumblr media
I think red eyes and dark hair make Akako look super pretty! But I'll always prefer her as a redhead, however, I have a headcanon here that might interest you.
My headcanon is that Akako has dark hair (like in 1412) and blue eyes without magic, and it's thanks to her powers that her eyes and hair turn red (it could be canon, but without confirmation from gosho I won't say anything).
There's an image that came out a few months ago where Akako actually has brown hair and blue eyes, there's also Hakuba with blonde hair and blue eyes. (I couldn't find the image).
I wonder what gosho has with brown hair and blue eyes, there's more variety than just that. Anyway, I can say that I like Saguru's almost yellow blonde hair color in 1412 with his brown eye color. But I don't reject the other variables, the red eye color makes me think of vampires. It would be interesting if Hakuba was one, in fact, it's funny but a while ago I came across an anime about vampire detectives.
Tumblr media
I really love the idea of Midoriko having British heritage! Also the headcanon that Aoko's eyes aren't blue but aquamarine, but turquoise would look beautiful too. I'm going to adopt your headcanon.

Back On My Next Generation Shenanigans
Angeline "Andi" Jocelyn Herondale: The first Clary and Jace child. She has curly blond hair, freckles, and green eyes. She's very charming, but she's also been going through this life long crisis that the Shadowhunter's are in a never ending battle with the demons that will never end through the generations, only ending when the demons win; she's a bit of a natural pessimist. She thinks a lot about society and such, looking into the mundane forms of government, hoping it would be better then the Shadowhunter ones and was just like these all kind of suck, society sucks, I should make up my own form of government. She fights demons with knives, like a strange amount of knives; she'll hold like seven at once and slice away, she'll throw them and then pull some more out of nowhere. Thanks to this existential dread for her and the future generations thing, she ends up coming up with theories on how to just kill all demons forever, doing all kinds of research and experiments. With this, things get kind of messy. She also is kind of thinking about starting a coup, to overthrow the Shadowhunter form of government and implant a better one, which also gets kind of messy. Like I said, she's very charming, so she forms a whole group of people. Honestly, since she's so ambitious and willing to do many things to fulfil those ambitions, I think she might end up as a sort of antagonist, which should give an interesting dynamic with her family and friends. I can also see Shadowhunter's being like 'is it really surprising considering her grandfather' even tho she has a completely different set of ideals.
Jasper Robert Herondale: The second clace child. He has curly red hair, freckles, and black eyes. Much to surely everyone's surprise, he's a very quiet person, and to nobody's surprise, he would rather die then share even a hint of his true feelings. He gives big gentle giant vibes; man's just over here looming in the corner freaking people out, but the people who know him are just like 'nah, he's fine, he's just happy to be here'. He's the only one that got the tall genes, standing tall over all his other short siblings. He fights demons with a sledgehammer. When he was little he got kidnapped, but instead of pulling a Mina, he actually got traumatized. It was a mundane that kidnapped him, which is why it took a while to find him because nobody thought it was just some random mundane that took him. The mundane was going to sell him and some other kids to some rich buyer, but when the Shadowhunter's stormed the area to get Jasper they freaked out and started killing the kids as some sort of last minute cover up, not wanting to be caught with ties to the market cause then they'll just be assassinated in prison. But his parents got to Jasper before they could kill him, now the last survivor. This resulted in Jasper having a bit of a savior complex, feeling like he needs to save everyone since he feels like all those kids died because of him and he couldn't do anything about it, him, a Shadowhunter in training. It didn't help that he was naturally protective to begin with, now it was just twice as intense. This complex should lead to interesting thing when Andi goes all rouge.
Samuel Lucian Herondale: The third clace child. He has curly blond hair, freckles, and green eyes. He's the artist of his siblings, often drawing made up, disturbing looking creatures, along with other strange looking things. He's got this ever growing, hard to understand imagination, and it makes him come across as a bit strange and awkward, but he does have a lot of cool comics he's drawn but never published, though he wants to. The way he ends up fighting demons is sort of unusual; turns out, some of those creepy looking creatures he draws he can make come to life to fight alongside him, his parents angel blood coming through. Though he does have a weapon as well, that being a seraph blade. Despite it being angel power, and despite everyone literally knowing his parents whole Angel deal, Shadowhunter's are still side eyeing him for how demonic his creatures look. They're literally pulling out his family tree like 'oh wow Tessa the warlock is your great great great great grandma I bet that's those demon powers' or whatever. He's basically gaslit into thinking he's a demon, despite his parents being like 'it's probably just our angel powers but even if it's demon powers that's okay too'. But Samuel was already insecure, and this just fed into it. But ironically enough, he can't hate this power, making friends with the little creatures he makes; he just hates himself. I think out of all the Herondale kids he understands the most of why Andi went rouge.
Marigold "Mae" Celina Herondale: The youngest clace child. She has curly red hair, freckles, and gold eyes; kinda looks fox like now that I think about it. She's very quick witted, can talk on and on for hours and never run out of quips. Super competitive as well; whatever she gets into she will work herself to the bone to be the best. Although when she gets competitive, it just feels fun to her really, something to get passionate about, but then most people end up taking it wrong and get all heated about it or feel overwhelmed or something of that like, and she doesn't know how to correct it, especially in the moment. She fights demons with dual machete's. Mae often struggles with that connecting to people thing, but then there was the time when she actually connected with a demon more than a person. It was some random demon that could talk, and they were fighting but they both got sort of competitive about it and one thing led to another and now she and this demon are sort of besties. This led to her having a bit of a crisis of her befriending this demon so easily when she can't do the same with people, wondering what that makes her and if she's even worthy of being a Shadowhunter. Then there's the whole sneaking around to see her demon friend and worrying about when it came down to it what side would she be on. Honestly, she's more worried about what Andi will do to her and her demon friend then the Clave.
Noelle Rebecca Lightwood: Simon and Isabelle's first child. She has black hair and brown eyes. She's very much a poised, calm person. She's an introvert to the point where people think she's rude, but really she just can't handle socializing for very long, making her words seem clipped in dismissive, which she always ends up feeling guilty about. But she has a bunch of random, niche interests, that if you get her going on one of those she'll talk your ear off. She fights demons with a bow and arrow; Alec taught her. She's a bit of a glass child really, as her two siblings prove to be a bit of a handful, and she's seen as the 'easy to handle one'. Simon and Isabelle of course don't do this on purpose, they just have their hands full with the other two, and Noelle ends up festering in this. This leads to her physically unable to ask for help, not knowing how or if it's even allowed. She has all these insecurities and feelings she desperately needs help sorting out, and other people are always like 'wow your so put together and independent', making her feel this expectation and driving her into further isolation so people don't know she's not put together or think she's too needy.
George Maxwell Lightwood: The middle sizzy child, who definitely thought his name was inspired by 'George Lucas' before they told him about George Lovelace. He has brown hair and blue eyes; Will's eyes live on once again. He tends to feel things very deeply, doesn't know how to take things causally. Everything makes him feel these intense emotions, and people tell him he needs to 'calm down', or even think he's faking it, but that's just how he feels. He's also big into movies; he remembers every detail of every movie he's ever seen, researching the background of the movies as well. He has a multitude of screenplays he has written that he thinks aren't good enough to go on to become an actual movie. But his ability to feel things deeply assist him in writing these screenplays, able to insert such feeling in his characters and the presentation of situations. He fights demons with a seraph blade. George secretly doesn't really want to be a Shadowhunter; he wants to go off and make movies and such. But he feels guilty about it, what with feeling like if he takes irf he's betraying all of humanity. And there's also the stigma of his dad, Simon, being originally a mundane. People would say things like it was in his 'blood' to be a mundane, and that attitude would also go to his siblings, so he keeps quiet.
Lorelei Maryse Lightwood: The last sizzy child. She has brown hair and dark brown gold eyes. She's very much a free spirit, always running off and getting into shit, always disappearing and coming back after some strange misadventure. She just could never find it in herself to stay in one place. Girl will literally be missing for like a week and show up with jar of blood or whatever and is like 'I can explain'. She's a drummer, a very good one, hoping from band to band because she always seems to get involved in the shittiest bands who she insists 'have potential' but then they always end up falling through. That's how she gets into a lot of her misadventures really; she gives people the benefit of the doubt way too much, she looks for and finds people's best selves, which while sweet, can get her involved with bad people. She fights demons with this spiky baseball bat. Like I said, this trusting nature of hers gets her into trouble, but the biggest trouble she's gotten in is when she accidently got involved with some small that worships the demons and think they should take over the world. Now she knows way too much about this strange, ridiculously over funded cult, and is trying very hard to stop them while not telling anyone she has ties to such a treason. Worse yet, she ends up falling in love with someone in this organization, which makes things all the more complicated.
Eleanor Jia Penhallow: Helen and Aline's first child. She has black hair, freckles, and blue eyes. This was a planned adoption, a Shadowhunter orphan whose parents died fighting demons, now in need of a home. She's a bit of an actress, being able to disguise as different people as well as characters of her own creation. She really throws herself into these roles, using it to find out information and such, a bit of a spy in her own right really, pulling information for the Clave and for her allies. She's quick and able to read situations and people quickly, adding to her ability to act in difficult situations. This also leads her to know more then she probably wants to know, even of her friends, which can make her feel like she's being intrusive even when she's just looking at them. She fights demons with a double edged blade. A lot of the time she has trouble pulling herself out of said roles, sometimes feeling like she doesn't have a true personality and that even when she's not in a role and she supposedly 'herself' that it's not really her, that she's still acting. This leads to a bit of an identity complex, not really sure who she really is at a 'default', if the way she is is just another role or if it's natural, because she doesn't know.
Edmund Liam Penhallow: Heline's next child. He has curly black hair and brown eyes. This was more of an accidental adoption, a Shadowhunter abused by his parents that ran away to the Los Angeles institute at the age of only 9, of whom Helen and Aline get very attached to. He's very cautious and observant. He likes research; he knows every bit of Shadowhunter history and Mundane history, he knows how to fight with weapons he doesn't even wield, he learns about random things that one would think would never come up in a situation but when it does he's ready to info dump much to everyone's bafflement; guy's just a bundle of knowledge about basically everything. He fights demons with this hammer and nail thing, both using the hammer to hit the demons and for hitting the nails at a long distance at the demons. His parents were very much not careful with him. They put runes on him too young, they threw him in front of demons too young saying that was his training, and so on. The final straw that caused him to run away was when they had somehow got it in their head that he had the potential to talk to ghosts. His parents had heard of the Herondale's connection to ghosts, and one time they saw Edmund muttering to himself so they were like 'clearly he has the potential to talk to ghosts as well'. Edmund tried to correct this, as he very much could not talk to ghosts, but they just threw him into some sort of morgue for 'training', refusing to let him out until he made some sort of connection to a ghost. He tried to lie, say he did, but his parents saw through the lie every time. Two weeks passed before he gave into hunger and began eating the only thing edible in that room; the dead bodies. Another week passed, and at that point he thought his parents weren't ever going to let him out, but then they did. It was then that he ran away, the taste of dead people never truly leaving his mouth. Honestly, the way he saw it, his parents jumped the gun a lot on him, doing things to him without properly understanding, being so reckless with him. So this sort of fed into his obsessive 'I must know every detail before doing anything' thing he does, as he doesn't want to be like them, and he thinks this will prevent people from being hurt. I also think the whole eating dead people thing definitely led to an eating disorder of some kind, unable to eat a lot of foods without tasting dead people.
Andrew "Andres" Blackthorn Rosales: Eldest kiearktina child, born from Cristina and Mark. He has curly black hair and golden eyes. He adores the forest life, wants to explore every part of it. Though, the forest didn't naturally like him back at first, as he didn't have that natural connection to it like the Fae. But he learned the ways of the forest, able to navigate it like no one else, and now the forest likes him back. He wants to travel the world and explore all sorts of different terrains, map them out, understand them all. The guy has crazy survivalist skills he's both learned about and discovered through trial and error, and he can and will go on rants about them at any given moment. He fights demons with this mysterious sword the forest gave him as a gift that definitely won't lead to any sort of plot line don't worry about it. The Fae disapprove of his entire existence, looking at him in a sort of 'what is he even doing here'. He's only partially Fae, and they don't consider that to be enough, even though Andres feels more connected to the Fae then he does with Shadowhunter's. They don't even really consider him to be Kieran's son, despite the many, many times Kieran has made it very clear he is. They pick on him and do cruel tricks on him a lot, nothing to permanently damage him physically, since he does have that amount of protection from Kieran's name, but it does take it's toll on him mentally. His parents know what's going on, but he never tells him who did it.
Juniper "Junie" Kingson Rosales: Youngest kiearktina child, born from Cristina and Kieran. She has curly blue hair and silver eyes. She's very much attracted to the city life, lowkey hating the forest life, not vibing in their cottage core lifestyle; very much the opposite of her brother. Girl is super into architecture, learns about the different styles from all over the world, she's obsessed. She has doodles of her own architecture, and she wants to make them a reality someday. She fights demons with a three balled flail. She isn't considered to be a true heir, as Cristina is considered a consort. But that's good for her because she didn't want to be the heir anyway; life in the fOrESt? Forever? No thank you. Give her that industrialization. But there does need to be an heir, and Kieran very much does not want to have a child with some other Fae woman just to have one, so as time wears on it's looking like an illegitimate heir is looking better than no heir. That would skip over her brother and to her, because even though Kieran of course sees them both equally as his children, she has Kieran's blood in her, so the Fae would consider her first. Of course, Kieran has siblings it would go to first, but even the slight possibility of it ever going to her puts her on edge. She feels it in the other Fae's eyes, that they hate her, but they'll take her as a last resort. She feels it in the way they talk to her, like they want to hurt her so bad, but don't just in case she does end up ruling over them. As such, being around most Fae make her uncomfortable, and would rather be with the Shadowhunter's.
Benjamin "Benji" Livia Blackthorn: The only blackstairs child; I'd imagine after raising all of his siblings, Julian might opt to spend all his energy into one kid rather then several. He has curly brown hair, freckles, and blue green eyes. He has a love for making weapons, not just weapons that already exist, but ones he thinks up himself. He'll experiment with new ideas and even fashion to better suit the individual person. He's very passionate about it, leading him to come off as very intense. He'll go out and actively seek out demons to test his prototype weapons on alone. It's a very dangerous thing that Emma and Julian have desperately tried to stop, but Benji is incredibly stubborn and tenacious, a consequence of having Emma and Julian's genes. But when he's fighting with other people, he's less likely to just test something he hasn't before, as he doesn't want to put other people at risk, so when he fights demons with other people he switches between a multitude of weapons he's tested before that were successful. People are very wary of Benji's weapons because they're breaking tradition; he's mixing metals that have never been mixed. People call it a disgrace to the Angel's gifts, saying he's basically spitting in the Angel's face; so as you can imagine, Benji isn't very popular. There was this one time when he was younger that he was told some kids were going to meet up, so he met up with them without telling his parents because he didn't think it would take that long, only for to be locked in a closet in their house for like a day before Emma and Julian found him. The kid wasn't trying to kill him, the kid was planning to let him out after a few days, but he didn't tell Benji that. It was a very traumatizing event, and he became rather claustrophobic and suspicious of people who are nice to him after that.

I'm also curious about the white horn Saturn has. Is it due to it being broken and growing back white?
Oh, nah, it's tied to his wwvhite patches. He's a chimera, Meaning twwvo zygotes wwvith different genes fused in the wwvomb/egg to make him.
That pale horn, the curly vvwiolet hair, and the wwvhite patches are actually from one zygote being either leucistic or albino. The hair on trolls is transparent and hollowwv, but covvwered in an oil that tints it black. That oil isn't present in non-pigmented hair, hence the Violet color!

Akira and Yukako Siblings Head Canons
They have the same mom but different dads, hence different family names. I will refer to Akira’s dad as “Otoishi” and Yukako’s dad as “Yamagishi” for simplicity
The curly hair gene is actually from their dads. Their mom just has a type. But their mom does have naturally thick eyebrows that she passed down.
Akira is jealous of Yukako’s naturally beautiful, curly hair; his hair is naturally more flat, straight, “wavy” than curly. So he tries to emulate it with curling irons and rollers. Not just that, but one up her by dyeing it all sorts of colors. Little does he know, dyeing it makes it die and look worse.
When Akira was 3 years old, Otoishi divorced their mom bc she had a secret affair with Yamagishi. Otoishi found out when their mother got pregnant with Yukako. Yamagishi and their mom married soon after. Akira never really got to see his dad after that; Otoishi didn’t want anything to do with him, his mom, or their new family.
Yukako was born on November 30th 1983. She is canonically a Sagittarius; you can see it because she’s passionate, idealistic, and wild. Akira was also born on July 27th, 1980, making him a Leo (not canon). He’s also passionate, but his other main traits are creativity and humor. Both signs are fire signs, symbolizing energy, strength, and brightness. Even if you don’t believe in zodiac signs, you can’t deny they are both similar in personality.
Personality disorders run in the family; not necessarily genetically, but circumstances that increase risk of developing it repeat over and over in generations. In this case, neglectful parents that favor the boy make Akira feel comfortable enough to hurt his little sister, making her sensitive and explosive.
Most older siblings are excited to have a little sibling. They protect, play with, and care for them. But Akira never felt happy about a little sister because he wanted all the attention on him. The first time he laid eyes on her, he just didn’t understand why adults cooed over her. “She’s not cute. She looks like every other baby. I bet I was cuter than that. In fact, I’m still cuter than her, even now!” Not just that, but her crying would frequently mess with his studies or sleep. Even worse was how she would crawl and eventually waddle towards him. “Stop following me!” Akira couldn’t hide in his room anymore because Yukako learned how to open doors. It got really annoying when she started talking. “Akiki! Play with me!” “No! I’m 7 and you’re 4! You’re boring to play with!” The few times when he did play with her, he was rough. Hair pulling, hitting, scratching. He didn’t even normally play like that; he just hated his little sister and pretended to be playing when he hurt her. It didn’t help that his mom would just say “boys will be boys” and didn’t care. So it just kept going, and got worse as they got older
Yukako was 10 and Akira was 13. At that age, boys start to work out to become big and strong. And at that age, girls start to become emotional because of hormones. She had always kinda fought back, but now she had the guts to challenge Akira. Still, she stood no chance against the preteen boy. Only when she turned 13 and Akira 16 did she ever win a fight. Akira better count his lucky stars that he moved out before she got a stand.
Akira always got a slap on the wrist for fights. His parents saw it more as a boy needing friends to roughhouse with and didn’t realize his own strength. It didn’t help that Akira acted like a kicked puppy the few times he got in trouble. But when Yukako started fighting back, she got actual punishments like getting her privileges taken away. The reason being that Akira can’t help himself, but Yukako is a young woman that needs to learn how to be patient. “Men only get worse. You need to learn how to handle them,” their mother would tell her. No doubt this only made Yukako even angrier; being told you’re being dramatic hurts, especially if it’s for something that is an actual problem.
As they got even older they chilled out, mostly because Akira kept getting beaten up by Yukako. They’re not friends because they’re too immature to put the past behind them, but they don’t beat each other up anymore. It got even better when Akira moved out; the animals just needed separate enclosures
It’s crazy awkward between Akira and Koichi, yk bc he kinda tried to kill him and all. You will never understand how embarrassing it is to have dinner in front of the guy that witnessed you bust a load in your pants over a sweet riff. Thankfully, Koichi holds no grudges; truly a kind soul! They also agreed to never let Yukako know about the entire Killing Joseph thing- just too much to explain and no doubt Yukako would have Akira’s head on her wall if she knew the full extent of his crimes. “YOU DID WHAT?!”
Similarly, Akira doesn’t know that Yukako had Koichi hostage. Akira already encourages Koichi to get out of there. “You don’t know what you’re getting into!” Yeah, he does. Akira would never let Yukako live it down. He would make a lot of teasing remarks “reminds me of when you had Koichi locked up.” The fighting would start all over again.
I also like to think that Akira would also be a yandere in a way. He has the impulse to steal them away from the world for sure. “You’re mine!” I don’t think he would put them through weird academic tests, but he would be equally controlling and forceful. It manifests differently because he’s a male and toxic, over the top actions are common from men.
If Akira ever got a partner, Yukako would DEFINITELY tell them all the embarrassing stuff he’s ever done. “He wet the bed once when he was 15.” It’s between them though; Akira will never know about the gossip.
Yukako will also definitely make sure to embarrass Akira publicly when he’s a famous rockstar. “The great Otoishi Akira is actually a loser! He’s a momma’s boy!” I can imagine hordes of Akira’s parasocial, obsessed fans attack Yukako online, but she doesn’t care. At least, she says she doesn’t. But with her personality disorder, I can imagine she takes it very personal and reacts violently. But she still continues; anything to bring down her asshole brother. It would also definitely start fights again at any family reunion. But instead of physical fights, they spit very venomous words to each other instead. “You’re just jealous you’re not famous or hot!”

curly.... ive got u... multiple different questions to ask... none of which are about lore persay...(kinda- a few of em arent) SOOOO-
realistically... How long is willows hair when he doesnt have it in a braid???🤔 Cuz i be drawing her shit like Rapunzel so im lowkey curious-
2. Does nathan genuinely want willow dead and gone or is he just spouting nonsense and somewhat doesnt actually want him to power herself off🤨⁉️⁉️⁉️
Adding onto 2 ; i also noticed that in nathans link with willow he has like only 1 star marked and since with willow and Cassidy or with Sharkie and Cassidy, those two duos got like zero stars marked in their links, does that mean nate still like.... Somewhat still cares about Will??? In a sense?? Or is that like smth else?🤔
3. ik like selfshipping is allowed and whatnot but what about like.. Shipping within the canon characters???🤨 like for example... Willow x Ashton or like.. Nathan x Theo??(THESE ARE RANDOM I DONT SHIP ANY OF THESE I SWEAR-) like is shipping within the characters okay or is it like only selfshipping thats allowed on the table😭😭😭
4. (this is where my questions get more random.. Me thinks...🥲) between willow and sharkie ; who is more likely to be the more sacrificing of the two?? And plus, in a literal sense, who would be the most likely to sacrifice themselves for the others survival and whatnot???🤔🤔🤔
adding onto that... Who usually comforts the other the most?? Cuz ik pre-reboot, Willow was often shown comforting Sharkie a lot ykwim???😔
5. and finnalllyyyyy- whats ya opinion on like,,, very unlikely duos?? As in like- Willow and Cassidy, Sharkie and Cassidy, Theo and Ashton, or like Vivian and Sharkie???🤔 random question ik but im gen curious bro😭😭😭
genuinely jumped with joy seeing such a long ask
1. when not braided, it reaches to just above her hips! he also has to brush and rebraid it basically every week because his hair is naturally very fluffy and wild (blame liam’s genes) and it does Not stay contained easily.
2. you kinda answered your own question with the addendum! nate is Extremely pissed off that willow didn’t come with him, but he’s only mad about this years later because he still cares about her and because she’s important to him. he is bitter and childish about grudges but his weird obsession with her doesn’t come from nowhere. think jinx and vi but like, reversed ages (<- said by a girl who watched 2 episodes of arcane when season one came out and then never touched it again)
3. yes and yes!! selfshipping is 100% okay, and canon ships are welcome as well so long as they’re legal and respect the characters’ existing identities*! i will note that some relationships have already been developed (have i talked about minnie here yet? no? well she’s sort of implied to be theo’s love interest) but that shouldn’t stop you from having fun!!!
*in which i should remind people that the treacher sisters are both lesbians + sharkie is exclusively gay 🫶
4. sharkie without a doubt, no questions asked. they don’t feel like their life has much value outside of will, so sacrificing themself for him would be a no-brainer. willow is also the one comforting them more, but frankly it’s kinda shallow on her part. sharkie comforts her when she’s freaking out as well but is awkward about it and doesn’t know what to do so in their mind they suck at it and they’re the worst and they’re only making it worse and yadda yadda yadda. bpd thingz
5. ohhh wait i love this question ok hold on .. i’ll be exploring dynamics between the main 4 in the actual comic (so things like cassie & willow/sharkie will get expanded on) but duos like theo & ash or sharkie & viv are curious …… postcanon theo does get to hang out with ashton more but i haven’t actually considered the extent of their interactions much. sharkie would realistically never hold a conversation with viv given the circumstances but i think she’d have an energy that star would vibe with
anyway that’s now what you asked lol tldr i Love unlikely duos!!! i like exploring all sorts of character dynamics and sticking to Just canon on the basis of ‘anything else just wouldn’t happen’ is boring and lame

Genetics, A Primer
(Because I Can’t Just Assume You All Know This Sh!t)
I’m going to kick things off on my new BNHA blog with a short series exploring Quirk science, for several reasons:
A) Quirks are the defining element of this franchise;
B) my brain arbitrarily decided to hyperfixate on Quirk science while I was world-building for the fic that I’m working on in my creative writing class;
C) canon Quirk science is, in my humble opinion, a travesty; and
D) since I’m doing all this research and overthinking anyway, I might as well inflict it on the unsuspecting public share it.
Unfortunately, as I was writing what I wanted to be the first post in this series, it quickly became apparent that I was assuming my readers would have a basic understanding of genetics and inheritance, which might not be true. $@&#!!! So here I am, backing up the info dump truck.
Honestly, I’m not expecting a lot of traction on this post, but whatever. I thought I should be considerate and make this information readily accessible for people who might need to brush up on the basics (or learn them in the first place) before jumping into the actual Quirk science with me. Whether I got any personal benefit out of writing this is entirely beside the point. -coughs- It’s not like high school biology is several decades in my past or anything.
>.>
<.<
>.>
Annnnnywaaaaaay, here we go! A crash course in beginner-level genetics and inheritance.
Enjoy!
All living things, or organisms, have observable characteristics (also called traits).
Collectively, all of the traits that make up a specific organism—be it Kohei Horikoshi, or your favourite childhood pet, or that scraggly-looking tree at the end of your street, etc—belong to that organism’s phenotype. And within its phenotype, that organism has a variety of both monomorphic (one form) and polymorphic (multiple form) traits.
In the case of humans, our baseline is to have a torso with one head on top, two arms on the sides, and two legs on the bottom. There are no standard variations, for example, where humans have two heads, or where the legs present on the sides of the torso instead of the bottom. We all have skin, not scales or bark. We grow hair, not feathers or fur. We all have a spinal column, and a brain, and one heart. (Did you know some animals have more than one heart? I sure didn’t until today.) Anyway, these are all examples of monomorphic traits.
Where things get really interesting are the polymorphic traits. Yes, we all have skin, but it comes in a wide range of colours. (And wow, the problems that has caused over the centuries. Mind-boggling! It’s just melanin, folks!) We all grow hair, but it can be straight, or wavy, or curly; its texture can be fine, or medium, or coarse; it comes in a full spectrum of ‘natural’ colours; it covers varying amounts of our bodies; and so on. We all have a spinal column, but the coccyx (tailbone) portion may be fused into two to five segments. We all have a brain, but we might be right-handed or left-handed or mixed-handed or even ambidextrous. We all have one heart, but only one of many different blood types.
The specific versions of polymorphic traits displayed (expressed) by a particular organism depends primarily on their own unique biological blueprint, or genotype.
A human genotype is made up of an estimated 21,000 genes, which are the basic units of heredity: the biological inheritance of traits from parents to their offspring. Genes consist of strands of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), which we are absolutely not going to go into the nitty-gritty details of here, because that’s not important for this TedTalk. The important thing is that the DNA in an organism’s genotype biologically encodes all of the information needed for an itty-bitty one cell fertilized egg (or egg equivalent) to become a fully-grown, functional member of that particular species.
Chromosomes are long DNA molecules, each containing hundreds to thousands of genes. This means each chromosome can store part, or all, of an organism’s genetic blueprint.
In humans, there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in every single normal cell—can you even imagine how small that would all have to be to fit?!??—for a total of 46 chromosomes. One half of each pair is inherited from the person’s mother and the other half from the person’s father. This means people inherit two copies of every single gene in their genotype, but they might get different versions of any gene which encodes for a polymorphic trait. These different versions are called alleles.
Now, what happens when a person inherits two different alleles for the same polymorphic trait? Can our hapless sample person actually have both straight and curly hair at the same time?!?? Tch! Of course not. (At least, not without access to hair-styling equipment, but that’s not relevant to the genetics here.) Anyway, I don’t know about you, but my high school tackled the ‘different alleles’ question using the example of eye colour—which, incidentally, is actually a terrible choice for teaching this concept, but it seems to be one of the ‘industry standards’, per se, and who am I to question decades of teaching expertise???—so, onwards!
With polymorphic traits, one allele is typically more dominant than the other and is the version of the trait that ends up being expressed in the organism’s phenotype. The allele that gets ‘overridden’ (or, more accurately, ‘masked’) is called the recessive trait.
Back to our example of human eye colour, brown is the dominant allele (indicated with an uppercase letter) and blue is the recessive allele (indicated with a lowercase letter), and they combine like this:
Mother Father Child
B - Brown B - Brown BB - Brown
B - Brown b - blue Bb - Brown
b - blue B - Brown bB - Brown
b - blue b - blue bb - blue
As you can see, the child will only express the recessive variant of the trait (blue eyes) if they inherit the recessive allele from both parents. Any other combination results in the dominant trait being expressed.
Pretty straightforward, right? So simple. Easy peasy. Go ahead and just… ignore… any obvious, glaring issues that might be coming to mind when looking at this examp—
Whaddya mean, there’s more eye colours than just brown and blue?!??
No! Stop!
-makes a distracting gesture with one hand-
These are not the droids you’re looking for!!!
(We’ll come back to eye colour in my next post.)
One last thing that is incredibly important, given that we’re talking about genetics and inheritance within the context of BNHA: genes are not always copied correctly when cells are dividing and combining and multiplying. Genes can also get damaged in various ways. These errors are random mutations and may become new alleles, which might be dominant or recessive, and can be passed down to future offspring.
These mutations can result in genetic disorders, where physiological processes ‘break’ (like hemophilia and diabetes) or where people are born with unusual physical characteristics (like extra toes or a cleft palate). Mutations are not always bad, though; in fact, mutations resulting in new traits and trait variations are a key feature in the process of evolution. If a new mutation provides an advantage to the biological success of an organism, that mutation is more likely to be passed down to subsequent generations and may eventually become a standard variant in the genome (the complete set of all possible genes) for that species.
Anyway, I think that about covers it for the important basics of genetics and inheritance before I dive into Quirk science in my next post. I hope it was helpful!
~~ Kasanya
PS. I’m enough of an academic that I’m going to include my sources below, but it’s late and I’m tired and I’m not actually getting graded on this ‘essay’, so I’m not going to bother going back and end-noting my references properly. Yes, most of them are Wikipedia. No, I don’t care. Wikipedia is good enough for my purposes here.
PPS. If anyone would like a more thorough introduction to genetics and inheritance, I recommend the top three sources below. They’re pretty good summaries. I will be getting into more detail in my future posts, though.
PPPS. And, finally, if anyone reading this is a subject-matter-expert and notices any errors in my info dumping, please let me know! I’d hate to spread inaccurate information. Thanks!

A silly little timeline of Rosine Strom's designs, starting from when I first began working on Together in Hell (November 2020) to now!
So, as a generalization- she's stayed about the same age throughout all this, originally being ~13 and aging up to be 15 as of the latest version of the story. Rosie was, surprisingly, an antagonist in the first draft, though she's actually changed her position around a lot and is now the protagonist of the story! Good for her.
Images (and much more explanation) below the cut- additional warning for my poor art skills as of 2 years ago.
So, let's start at the beginning. The very first sketch I did of Rosine Strom, before her name was even Rosine Strom. She had a name change somewhere in the first 6 months of development. I don't remember what her name was originally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first two pictures were drawn/colored in either December 2020 or January 2021. She was always going to have a sort of green/purple color pallet, and I see now that she's always had a necklace of sorts. I don't remember what exactly I was going for in this design- something unassuming? At the very least? She was originally way more nature-based than computer-based, so that's one of the major things driving this design.
The third picture, in the full on dress is her more polished design, drawn in late January 2021. Back in the early stages of development, her main Thing as a character was that she had two sort of alter-egos, one acting as a normal teenager (first two drawings) and one being more?? evil??? I guess? She was a character of complete dualities, being described as "childish but also really mature, loving but also slightly cruel, nice but has a lot of pent-up anger." Okay. Cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From here on out in her design, I mostly just started making changes to her everyday "normal" clothing. Character-wise, I started making her more normal and not, like, evil. Because that sucked as a character point, considering she was like 14. These two drawings come from different points in the development of the story, but from when her character was roughly the same. Her friendship with the other kids was still a key part of the story, but there really aren't many other similarities. She was overly bubbly and worked in??? tech stuff???? for the plot?????? It's not very overtly laid out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't worry, though, she still had an evil-esque alter ego!! This time, she wasn't necessarily evil on purpose, but more because she was forced into a role overseeing a death game. It's about time that I bring up the fact that Together in Hell was originally a YTTD AU. Sorry. In this, she took on the role of a floormaster, somewhat. These are the best references I could find for her """floormaster outfit"", but I can't find a date for either of them. I'm still surprisingly proud of the piece on the right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From here on out, we reach a sort of "interlude" in her designs. These pieces were made from when Together in Hell was actually coming into existence, and the YTTD AU it started with was fading out of existence. Around this point in time-- Summer of 2022-- I started to change some aspects to her character. She still heavily values her friends, but finds herself more occupied with a deal she made with a skeptical-seeming company which deals heavily in death. The leftmost picture has more similarities to the first draft of the story, while I like to refer to the rightmost picture as "a remnant from the forgotten second draft." It's called that because I forgot the plot but i like the sprite. These are where some pretty big physical changes also happened for her character; I stepped away from making her skinny and she got afro-textured hair. A few months before making these versions of her character, I had finally sorted out her family tree, and realized that curly hair- which her mother has- is a dominant gene. It took me six months to realize this and the fact that I'd have to redraw so many assets at this point actually made me quit development for a solid few months.
After that break, I restarted and started developing Together in Hell and her character as they sort of stand today.

For her current design, I gave her twists, which developed from braids in her first drawing in this state (leftmost). Later on, she gained green highlights, as green was her Character Color and I wanted to allude to that in her design. She still has a necklace- although now the necklace is a hard drive she carries around with an AI she made in it (that'll be plot relevant), and her outfit changed drastically, with a full-body reference in the center. She does like to change up her hair (see rightmost image) into a style which somewhat resembles her late first and second draft hairstyle, but these styles are more commonly found in flashbacks due to the short span of time the game takes place in. She greatly values her friends, but at the current, finds herself in the middle of a horror that she's going to have to face.
and that's about all :)

i think i may or may not have accidentally convinced a bunch of my friends that mike wheeler was adopted
we were talking about casting families in stranger things and i was like “lmao yeah they cast the families all so well except for mike” and they were like “??? elaborate?”
and i go “well karen and ted both have naturally light brown hair. mike has naturally black hair. nancy has naturally light brown hair too and holly’s is blonde, but i’m pretty sure blonde hair is a recessive trait”
(this prompted a conversation about genetics and phenotype things, what’s dominant etc, it’s more complicated when applied to real life rather than simple problems, but long story short, yes, blonde hair is a recessive trait, and black hair is dominant*)
i go on to note that karen and ted both have naturally straight hair (though karen takes to curling it), as do nancy and holly (though again, nancy curls it, and permed it in s4). mike has naturally curly hair. this, again, is a dominant trait. their parents can’t have those genes since their hair is straight.
mike’s nose is also pretty different from both his parents and both his siblings, but this is genetically possible (it’s nowhere near as cut and dry as hair color or texture, and since incomplete dominance does apply to noses and stuff, and mike’s nose could be kind of a blend between karen and ted’s noses along with genetics of other family members that present in him), so we didn’t take it much into consideration.
the same applies to his dark eyes (where both parents have light brown eyes)—it would have been more likely for them to have a light brown eyed child. brown eyes are dominant to blue and green, green is dominant to blue, blue is recessive to both. holly has blue eyes, so they definitely carry those genes. mike also has brown eyes, even if they’re much darker than both his parents’, so they’re all the same genes, but he inherited more melanin in his eyes than his parents have. this is also possible. so we again wrote this off.
i wouldnt say something like “well the actors arent related so they wont actually look similar” bc everyone else looks like each other, and they paid attention to casting, so it must have been a deliberate decision.
it also doesn’t have to mean mike’s adopted. it could be a symbolic indicator of him feeling different from others, or like the odd one out, like he doesn’t fit in, etc. as those are pretty big parts of his character. or it could be attributed to infidelity (karen was pretty eager to sleep with a kid the same age as her oldest daughter, even if she didn’t in the end i wouldn’t put it past a younger, more adventurous karen)
i could also just be way overthinking this and roping everyone around me into it lmfao
*we couldn’t find conclusive data on what genes produce light brown hair vs black hair, or whether they’re the same genes and just present differently visually—two black haired parents can definitely produce offspring with light brown hair, but we’re unsure whether the other way around is possible. if you know, please let me know!

Physical descriptor guide
Genders and pronouns - Self-explanatory, though they have no connections in the generator to make one gender more likely to have a certain pronoun than others. This is because anyone can use any pronouns (unless you're perisex using intersex exclusive pronouns, then leave), and it isn't indicative of their gender. While yes, pronouns tend to correlate with their associated gender irl, it is not a natural requirement that they do.
intersex cats have a 17% chance to occur, mirroring real life estimates for intersexism. can't remember if I based this on human or cat estimates, but given that most cats don't get gender tested at all, I'd imagine I did human.
Coatbase (primary color) - Self-explanatory. Albinism and Melanism have a 10% chance of occurring, though. Vitiligo is contained on this variable with an occurrence rate of 10% as well. A cat with white in the spot where the primary color goes is genetically white, and possibly has separate white spotting.
Pattern (Tabby or not) - All the types of tabby i'm aware of, as well as no tabby. Solid coats have a 50% occurrence rate (as opposed to 100% on the others).
Whitespot (amount of white fur that would appear on a non white cat) - Low to high spotting is covered between a few different ways of saying each, and no white has a 200% chance of occurring.
Scar descriptors - contains a general amount descriptor (no numbers) and appearance of scars on the cats. Only 3 descriptive traits for scars exist right now - nasty, small, and gnarly, as well as a chance for no quantity qualifiers or a chance for no descriptor at all.
Eye color - all the colors I can think of plus a few from clangen. Mixed refers to dichoric heterochromia, where the eyes contain two colors in at least one eye, and Odd-eyed refers to the stereotypical heterochromia where they have two differently colored eyes. Currently unsure if I want to include variables for cats who have both forms of heterochromia, as that's an even deeper amount of variables and this generator is already almost 4k lines. Ocular Albinism is also possible.
body type - Ranges from actual cat body types to descriptors of builds. Cobby, Semi-cobby, substantial, foriegn, semi-foriegn, and (sadly, these terms are super old but please do tell me if there's a better term for this one in the cat owning/breeding community) oriental are the six cat build/body types officially recognized and all cats, purebred or otherwise, fall into one of those categories.
length - Refers to coat length, long and short are the only ones not specific to a breed. Balding refers to Lykoi and Donskoy types of furs, patchy is referring to uneven fur loss of any kind. The "unevenly" descriptor on long and short is in reference to a chimera who may not have had the same fur length genes as an embryo, and is one of the only ways to know if your character is generated as a chimera.
fur texture (how the fur feels to touch) - most of these are self explanatory, but here's a few descriptions for possibly confusing ones:
Scraggly - generally unkempt but could also refer to kinked fur
Oily - also can be known as greasy, cats naturally produce oils with their skin that can cling to their fur, but you don't typically feel them on touch because the grooming process keeps the oil from building up. A cat who is oily/greasy to the touch does not groom itself enough and can indicate there is an underlying problem.
Curly (50% occurrence rate) - refers to the rex breeds. Devon, Cornish, selkirk, etc. This cat may not be entirely rex, but they probably have a direct ancestor (I'd say parent bc idk how far curly carries down) who is/was.
Hygiene - basically how your cat's fur usually appears. a cat who rolls one of the dirty descriptors can either be a cat who doesn't clean themself enough, or just likes/happens to get messy constantly.

tricky treat !!! tell me about your ocs gamer....
hiii okok i ended up using this as an excuse to summarize a lot of scattered thoughts i have about them (ty!!) so it got long, but i will give u a little intro to each and then some random stuff abt them all as a group <3
emrys (he/him) — tall shaggy-haired blond guy! he’s quiet most of the time, likes to knit and make his own clothes, and he’s a lion shifter which means he can turn into a lion sometimes. he can’t really control his shift and the age/appearance of his lion is directly tied to what emotions he’s feeling and how strong they are, so he doesn’t usually enjoy it very much! oh and he’s winnie’s caregiver :]
micah (they/them) — genderqueer, short curly dark hair and lots of small scars, likes eyeliner and dressing femme! they’re autistic and very blunt/sarcastic and come off as unfriendly at first but they’re mostly just anxious. they have cat-shifter genes but no ability to actually shift (or any physical traits) so they have a lot of weird cat behaviors that nobody really understands lol. shows affection through parallel play and bringing people random gifts. regresses sometimes but not very willingly!!
cassia (she/he) — nonbinary, wears round glasses, big white 4-B curly hair, likes reading and thrifting and DIY-ed grunge style clothes! she has ram’s horns from ram shifter genes but i haven’t decided yet if they’re always there or if he can control his shift! generally very confident and calm, funny but people don’t usually notice his humor right away lol. he’s also disabled and has chronic pain and uses various mobility aids sometimes. she has a little bit of innate magical ability too but no real desire to learn how to use it! sometimes is backup caregiver if emrys is busy or more than one person is regressed
dove (she/her) — long dark hair that she loves styling differently every day, always wearing a million accessories and rings and necklaces! she loves cooking and fashion and is a witch, has been training her magic since she was a toddler! she specializes in intention-spells on clothing or sentimental trinkets, and foresight/predictions using her favorite deck of cards (she sucks at elemental magic tho haha). comes across as intimidating but is actually extremely nice and friendly! she regresses sometimes but not often, really likes babysitting others though
winnie (she/they) — wavy auburn hair, short and fat, lots of freckles and moles and always very expressive with her face haha. they’re the only fully-human/nonmagic person in the group but still very much the glue that holds them all together. likes gardening and baking! she has a bit of a temper, generally very sweet and friendly though, good at making sure no one gets left out. emrys is their caregiver! they tend to take on a caretaker role for everyone else in their day-to-day lives while big, so when she regresses everyone loves to baby her a lot :]
now for the group as a whole— they are a polycule! they all have unique romantic/sexual/platonic relationships with each person of course but more or less are all dating. in the story plot they’re part of in my head, they live a pretty nomadic lifestyle and are always on the move, often in a bus/RV type of situation? and i actually have been thinking abt adding one more character to their group (as if i need more people to keep track of lmao) but we’ll see hehe
