Ok so swap aus, love them whole lot!!
Like personality swaps are interesting but the thing that gives sanders sides an edge to swap aus is the idea of the sides swapping traits!
Obvs dark side light side swaps are neat as well but that’s a whole other discussion so
Because I am a hoe for my ships ( that being moceit, analogical, Platonic/brotherly creativitwins ) let’s start off with the concept of
Logan - anxiety
Virgil - logic
Patton - deception
Janus - morality
Remus - light creativity
Roman - dark creativity
Now it’s important to note that listen you rarely see this type of swap, I’ve never seen it atleast??
It’s mostly logicality prinxiety swaps and I get the appeal they’re opposites, so it causes conflict, Same with Logince and moxiety is also a common swap
However!! I do have some ideas :D it’s not a fully fleshed out idea but still a concept!!
Commonly enough when people switch traits for the sides they honestly dont keep a lot of what that side was. For example patton is a hyper, kind hearted sad dad when anxiety he just loses that and just acts like a droopy Virgil yk yk?
So we are gonna try and preserve those personalities without making them not fit for the trait entirely, meaning we may have to exaggerate some details about them
For example:
Canonly, Patton can sometimes be manipulative so we may have to heighten that up a bit, stuff like that
So back on topic
I think we should still keep C!thomas the same, atleast in the beginning of me writing this, we work around the idea of him staying the same as canon and from there we can change him as needed
—————
Logan as anxiety
- a bit more confident as hes listened too more than logic!logan sadly enough
- I’d say hes a lot more open about his more negative emotions, while he does try and to still not show them his anger does slip out a bit much whenever he feels like his points are gonna get thomas killed, lmao insert tempest tongue falsehood joke here
- he’d have the look more that of a tired professor
- wrinkled black button up, he’d have a purple tie. Instead of just like makeup eye shadow, he’d have actual eye bags
- probably kept C!thomas up through many college and school nights for studying
- is always anxious YouTube is gonna fail and regrets not putting up more effort for Thomas to go into his chemical engineering degree
- obvs cause I’m an analogical hoe I’ll sneak this in, Logan really does like virgil as virgil too values thomas’ education and just kinda sits there while Logan angrily rants every single possibility of what could go wrong today
- “and there’s a highly probable statistic that we could end up dying participating in this activity! 75%, virgil!!”
- I think when overwhelmed with his mind racing through probabilities he’d end up messing with or loosening his tie, cleaning his glasses a lot, or chewing on the end of his sleeves
- I think he accidentally blurts out a lot of words especially when he’s trying to hold in his anger, like “THATS A BAD IDEA” then slaps his hands over his mouth and just kinda says, “apologies... I need to stop my sudden outbursts as they’re becoming a frequent problem” and hey the outbursts getting even more worse and uncontrollable could lead to Logan doing an ol duck like in AA
—————
patton as deception
- I think I myself would love a dark side who comes in sickeningly sweet but has “darker” intentions I suppose?
- I think Janus wouldn’t like Patton in the start because he knows how easily manipulated C!thomas can be and to see a seemingly innocent dad try and push some morals on you, he’s cautious
- so Patton when he first appears doesn’t hide himself like Janus did behind a disguise... well sort of?
- he comes in dressed as his outfit in the series, maybe throughout the whole time he’s redirecting the conversation in his favor so no one reveals him, which we’ve seen canon Patton do a good job of being able to distract the sides from fighting so we can say he has that ability himself as well
- maybe like Janus he can stop people from saying words he doesn’t want thomas to know, or well thomas himself doesn’t wanna know
- but instead of the obvious slams hand over mouth it’s more like, Virgil speaks up saying “Thomas, It would probably help you to know that, Patton isn’t exactly-“ and maybe either he tries to finish his sentence and can’t speak, he just lets out air instead of a noise. Or forgets what he was talking about all together, another form of misdirection?
- patton’s whole thing is he came up here, dressed in his lil innocent dad outfit, being sweet as all hell “kiddo, I heard about a certain show you messed of Joan’s? Now we don’t joan hating us do we? We love Joan to death and we wouldn’t wanna hurt them! Can you imagine the look on their face?” Which Janus just says, “are you asking him to lie? You and I both have the understanding that Joan hates being lied to.”
- patton’s like “ehhh I know, but I think saving the relationship is more important! We don’t know if telling the truth could end up hurting Joan more then just a small fib?”
- so blah blah Patton is revealed
- his cardigan is back to his cat hoodie which is the black variety, instead maybe tied around his waist? He could have fingerless gloves that kinda look like cat
- paws? Like, he’s the unlucky black cat. He doesn’t have snake makeup but maybe he has sharps canines/fangs like cats do. And maybe we could keep the polo just make it yellow? Not sure though, but I do wanna have his lil logo go from just a blue heart when first shown to a yellow one with it like, being broken with a claw mark, like someone tore through it
- and why he chose to come in blue in the first place maybe he wanted to show thomas he was similar to Janus or maybe he has a crush on Janus? 👀👀 who’s to say
- but he’s revealed and just ahHhwhaj OH NO THE CAT PUNS, “apawogies Thomas for deceiving you a bit there, I was just trying to help make sure joan is feline good in the end! I do think you should really reconsider- meow I better get on my way then ol’ creativity needs some pasta. Keep my ideas in mind kiddo!” Then leaves lmao
- and that could be a solid set up for Thomas to be like- wait is there two creativities? Yk yk
- I do have some ideas for how svs and svs redux could go but yeah
- overall Janus, not really that known for having an animal trait as much as Patton and Roman but Janus could turn into a snake for svs redux-
I’m getting a head of myself lol
- point is, lmao- Patton’s animal trait is a cat
- he’s still kind? He can be a bit more pushy then canon Patton. But his first method is always just a gentle nudge and, “oh come on kiddo, I think your father would probably agree with me on this one”
- he’s not so much for thomas’ self preservation as more so he pushes thomas to help his friends and because he wants to make sure thomas looks good enough for them so they’ll stay he ends up pushing for lying
I have some more ideas for the other sides as well but just wanted to see what some thoughts are before I keep on developing this :D

I decided to write my own take of Lance’s Valentine’s Day event scene. This one was too short for me lol. My version turned out way longer than I expected but I regret nothing.
Companions flitted among the underbrush of the forest, scattering this way and that and winding around trees in a game of chase. Their vibrant colors were nearly a stark contrast against the colors of the forest, except that the forest also seemed to shine with vibrant colors even in the dimming daylight.
Their restlessness was somewhat uncommon, even more unsettling to see such a feral display, and lingering around was a faint air of aggressiveness among them, especially the Gallytrots. Growls, yaps, groans and howls echoed through the forest and tore through the air as Erika took shelter near a tree, her legs half curled under her as she sat and brushed a hand against the resting Gallytrot beside her. Never did she think such a feral companion would actually let her initiate physical contact, especially since Huang Hua warned her about the start of the mating season, and frankly she didn’t think much of it when she first began to pet the Gallytrot.
The wolf-like companion joined her underneath the tree mere moments after she had sat down to observe the other companions around her, settling down with a huff as though she gave up trying to find a reasonable suitor for the occasion, and Erika had laid a hand on her back in a trying gesture of comfort. That hand placed gently on the companion’s back turned into small stroking with her thumb, and that eventually turned into gentle petting of the Gallytrot’s soft, inky black fur.
No more than a few minutes later, Erika spotted familiar blue-silver armor shifting through the trees, heading her way. Lance appeared fully from the forest, looking attentively at the display between her and the Gallytrot as he stopped a few feet away from them, faint wariness resting in his striking blue eyes.
Erika understood his concern. These companions are faintly related to the vicious Black Dog, and therefore still hold some of their rogue instincts. Pair that with the aggressiveness that comes from the mating season, and one can find a likely chance to be bitten by such a feral companion.
This thought hadn’t escaped Erika, and frankly her mind kept running over the question of if the Gallytrot enjoyed her petting or merely tolerated it, but figured that if she were to attack, she would have done so the instant Erika tried to pet her. So instead, Erika held her gaze steady with Lance’s and kept her hand on the companion.
“I sat down by the tree to take a small break and she joined me not too long after.” Erika turned her attention back to the Gallytrot, then added with a bit of amusement; “I think she’s given up on finding a mate.”
As if to confirm her assumptions, the Gallytrot shifted a bit and huffed. She looked scornfully dignified with her head raised, opening her maw for a moment to run her tongue across her muzzle while looking out at the racing companions with seemingly no interest in moving anytime soon.
‘I don’t need a mate’ ran through Erika’s mind as she looked at the companion. It seemed as though they were both in the same boat on this holiday.
“I’ll see if I can change that. Wait here.” Lance spoke briskly, but his tone held warmth.
He turned away, walked in another direction into the forest and Erika turned to watch him as he navigated the trails. For a moment, Erika considered following him with the she-Gallytrot and wondered why he didn’t suggest they come with him, but another glance at said companion told her that the Gallytrot would rather growl and snap her jaws than get up and try another chance at finding a mate. She also found that she somewhat liked the small bond that had grown between her and the companion, and would rather not break that bond in an attempt at getting her to move that would likely be unsuccessful anyways. I hope my companion won’t be too jealous when I come back smelling of Gallytrot, Erika pondered the thought, then figured it wouldn’t matter too much. She would make it up to her beloved companion if they became jealous.
So now Erika found herself sitting beneath the trees for unknown amounts of time. Some part of her felt as though an eternity passed by, another part told her that it had merely been minutes since Lance departed in search of another Gallytrot. However, the sky continued it’s slow advancement into darkness, dimming the colors of the forest and lighting the companions with a faint glow from their mysterious pelts. The air began to feel damp and heavy with the promise of rain and Erika finally had to admit that Lance had been gone for a while.
She wondered if she should maybe try to look for him. After all, she had offered to help him with the companions, partially in hopes that she could see more glimmerings of his newfound kind-hearted nature, something that she was both wary and curious of considering his past, but found that she also didn’t really want to leave the Gallytrot alone. In the time spent with her, she had shifted from sprawling proudly with her head raised and one paw tucked gently against her chest to resting her head on Erika’s leg (she now sat with her back against the tree and both legs out, one bent at the knee) with all her paws stretched beneath her as she laid on her side. Erika became more confident with the Gallytrot after she showed this gesture of seeking companionship, and moved her hand between gentle pets on her head and long strokes along her back.
Another few moments went by and Erika was seriously starting to consider what to do if Lance didn’t return soon when, above the quieter sounds of the companions rustling among the forest, groaning and whining to each other, and play fighting, she heard sounds oddly similar to that of a human walking among the undergrowth. She gazed around, careful as to not disturb the Gallytrot (who might as well be asleep on her lap) too much, and eventually found Lance trekking towards her again. Suddenly she felt stupid for worrying about him at all. He was a seasoned warrior and knew these forests well, it’s herself that she should be worried about. She found she was now trying to convince herself that she wasn’t actually worried about Lance at all, and that she was in fact worried about what she would do if danger approached her and that concern merely manifested in a worry for Lance.
Beside the dragon meandered another Gallytrot, slightly bigger than the one on Erika’s lap, and she figured that Lance finally managed to find a male for the female that Erika kept company. The Gallytrot sauntered along, not at all keeping to Lance’s side as he swung his head around on the ground, stopping occasionally to sniff among ferns and bracken. The female on Erika’s lap wasn’t paying much attention either, likely having dozed off a while ago with half-closed eyes that weren’t facing the direction of Lance and the other Gallytrot in the slightest.
Lance’s gaze met Erika’s as she turned her attention from the male Gallytrot back to the dragon, and he looked from her, to the female on her lap, the male who stopped behind him again to lick a stone on the ground (and graciously stopped walking for a moment to wait for the companion), and back to Erika again when the two continued on.
However, by the time Lance looked back to Erika, she was already looking down at the female Gallytrot on her lap, mulling over the best way to get her attention without angering her. The last thing she wanted was to return from another mission injured again. Ewelein wouldn’t believe her eyes if she saw Erika waltzing into the infirmary for the thousandth time (or maybe she would, considering her track record) and Huang Hua would certainly be a bit disappointed after she clearly warned Erika about the occasion, and therefore the temperament changes within the companions.
She settled with making a small clicking from her mouth, like calling over a cat, and a soft ‘hey’ while lightly shaking the Gallytrot’s fur at her scruff, ending it in a pet in case the shaking ruffled her fur a bit. Fortunately, the companion didn’t seem to mind too much, and as she twisted her head around to look at the owner of the lap she rested her head on, she gazed into the forest and caught sight of the male Gallytrot keeping loosely to Lance’s side.
Erika watched as the female raised her head a bit, ears perked while still keeping low, and froze as she looked intently at the new male.
Lance stopped a few feet away from the two females, opting to turn around and watch the male Gallytrot as he backtracked to nose at the underbrush again.
A faint breeze drifted through the trees, first brushing past Erika and the female Gallytrot, and then drifting past the male Gallytrot, carrying a slight chill and heavy atmosphere of rain.
The male paused his nosing, raised his head in the air and tilted it, paused again with a flick of the ear, then turned to look where the breeze came from. He froze again seeing the female hovering over Erika’s lap, then started towards them at a gentle pace with his head bowed slightly.
Erika took her hand off the female in front of her, a minor encouragement to go and greet the male, and she was pleased when at last the Gallytrot rose to her feet, stretched, and paced towards the male. Now free, and slightly stiff from sitting for so long, Erika quietly shifted to brace herself against the tree and stand. Before she could, however, a tanned hand was held out to her. She glanced up, Lance was waiting patiently with his hand outstretched as he looked at her with a softness in his eyes.
Some part of her really wanted to brush him off and stand up by herself, but she was stiff and slightly sore from staying in one spot and trying to scramble up a tree to stand didn’t sound too pleasing nor elegant, so she rested one palm on the tree and took his hand in the other, bracing herself against the tree as she came to stand with Lance’s help. The warmth of his hand was a nice contrast to the faint chill beginning to claim the air, and she realized a few seconds too late as she began to bend her legs back to life and watch the friendly exchange between Gallytrots that her hand was still firmly clasped with Lance’s. A quick glance up at him calmed her whirlwind of emotions a bit. He wasn’t looking, his gaze was on the Gallytrots as well, so she quickly relaxed her hand and brought it closer to her side.
Lance shifted slightly as he felt her move and let go as well, throwing a glance at her to try and read her emotions to find that she was now looking at the Gallytrots again with interest.
Just keep looking at the companions, Erika told herself. She didn’t know if she liked or hated the encounter that just occurred between them, and once again she was fighting within herself, one part of her thinking ‘he finally let go’ while another part of her was thinking ‘am I pleased or disappointed by that’.
“That was a kind thing you did for her, keeping her company.” She looked back at Lance as he murmured those words, a faint trace of a smile gracing his features and some sort of affectionate amusement glimmering in his eyes as he looked at her.
Erika willed her face not to burn, from either the compliment or who it was coming from she didn’t know nor like, and looked away from him.
“You’re the one that found her a mate, I only pet her until then.” Erika responded, shrugging her shoulders a bit.
She glanced at him again out of the corner of her eye to see he was turned back to the Gallytrots again, and she re-focused her attention to them as well just before they both took off, the female bolting first as she looked back at her male companion. He jumped and then took off sprinting after her as soon as he landed, commencing their game of chase.
Erika smiled wistfully at the display, wondering if she would ever have fun like that with a friend of hers after everything that had changed, but was broken from her thoughts as a few other Gallytrots rose to their feet and started pacing. Some tilted their heads back, scenting the air while others trotted around, whining and jumping on each other or rolling on the ground. A few growls broke out here and there, one or two giving chase and others faced and wrestled each other to the ground. Other companions did similar things, some crawling up around trees again or flying through the forest amongst one another with haunting screeches. The seemingly peaceful atmosphere has broken into chaos once again, but Erika wasn’t exactly sure why.
Erika looked at Lance, perhaps he had an explanation?
He was watching the forest around them with careful cerulean blue eyes, assessing the companions and glanced once at the darkening, cloud-covered sky. A humid breeze bellowed through the forest again. He turned to Erika mere seconds after she looked up at him.
“Storm’s on it’s way. The companions are restless because of it. The Gallytrots in specific look agitated.” He explained, nodding his head towards the companions. She turned to glance over them again, making sure no actual fights broke out.
“Do you want to head back and take shelter at HQ?” She asked him. They didn’t know how violent this storm would be. It could be either a small passing rain or a major thunderstorm, and Erika wasn’t too sure that Lance and her would enjoy prowling the forest for companions while drenched to the bone. However, Lance quickly looked back to her again, his eyes wide and alight with some sort of anticipation.
“Are you kidding? This is the only opportunity to run with the Gallytrots! They’ll run soon to escape the storm. Very few have experienced it, but those who have run with the pack say that the experience is rather… exhilarating.” He looked at her with a light in his eyes that she almost didn’t recognize, but faintly remembered it from past encounters with him.
Suddenly Erika felt that he seemed more alive right now than he ever did before. She couldn’t help but think to herself that he always did throw himself into wild situations like these, and somehow she always ended up being dragged into it. However, as she steadily held his lively gaze, she realized she seemed to like the thought of experiencing something that thrilling. And was she even more excited at the thought that she could experience it with someone as feral and wild as him?
One of the Gallytrots raised its head in a deep, cavernous howl, and more started to join in. They both looked at the companions and not even a heartbeat later, the darkening sky flashed light. Another heartbeat and a splitting crack pierced the air. Another heartbeat and sharp blue eyes met again with wonderful purple ones.
They took off after the Gallytrots just as the rain hit.
Barks, howls and screeches echoed through the forest as they ran, keeping pace with each other at the front of the pack while other companions followed the Gallytrots. The rain quickly picked up until it was a downpour, the sky a hazy smoke grey that nearly gave the illusion it was night, and as they ran lightning struck again, blazing across the sky as a thunderous roar echoed after.
Erika focused on her path; leaping over a large tree root, narrowly brushing past a tree, rising up along a minor hill, vaulting onto a fallen tree, thudding back onto the ground to keep pace. Lance kept beside her the whole time, following his own path over tree roots, around underbrush, over stumps and fallen trees.
He looked over at her when his path was clear. Her eyes were alight with excitement and wonder, a faint grin resting upon her features as she bolted alongside a female Gallytrot. Rain trailed down her face, weighing down her hair slightly, but she paid it no mind.
Erika ran as fast as she could through the forest, never once faltering beside her companions as they navigated the landscape. While she once thought she would hate the feel of running through the forest with a flood of rain upon them, she realized it was quite the opposite. Surrounded by the forest, the rain pattering on every surface, thunder and lightning streaking and roaring around them, the wild atypical companions around her, Erika realized that she had never felt more alive. She flew over the undergrowth and through the forest, barely feeling her feet touch the ground. Erika was sure that she could leap across mountains at the moment, change the tides of the ocean, make the sun rise and set. She felt so powerful as she ran, focused solely on her surroundings. And the man next to her…
She flicked her eyes over to look at Lance. He was navigating the terrain easily, seeming to barely break a sweat as rain streaked his face, faintly tracing his nose scars. His eyes were bright, nearly glowing as he looked at her, and as their gazes locked a feral grin appeared on his face.
Erika knew he felt the same; the rush of running with the pack, the untamable storm surrounding them, their racing pulse as they raced just as fast through the forest, and she wasn’t doubtful in any way as she gave him a fierce grin. She was enjoying this, she felt alive, she loved this.
Their moment lasted as they continued to run alongside each other. Gallytrots, intermingled faintly with other companions, swarmed around them as they raced through ravines and through streams, the howls and screeches of the companions just as loud as the thunder that bellowed around them, until a fair-sized cave came into sight.
With the mindset of one entity, the pack raced for it, Erika and Lance never once breaking away, until they reached the mouth of the cave and quickly slowed to a stop.
The companions, panting and out of breath, were quick to find their chosen one and settle down to rest amongst each other while thunder and rain continued to roar outside. However, the angel and dragon didn’t stray too far into the cave.
Lance, upon finding shelter within the yawning cavern, whirled around to watch as the rest of the companions flooded in, making sure none were left behind and to observe with fascination the squall that carried on outside. Erika paused for a few moments, nearly as out of breath as the companions, before turning to look at them, and then turned her gaze to Lance, his blue eyes electrified by the lightning as he grinned with heavy breaths. Both of them were dripping wet, but Erika didn’t care in the slightest. She couldn’t keep the wild grin off her face as she looked around, her heart still racing as everyone settled in.
After a few minutes of catching their breaths and calming down, Lance turned to look at Erika with a soft grin, who was watching the companions and gazing around the cave with wonder and excitement.
“What do you think?” He asked, and she turned around quickly to meet his gaze without hesitation.
“That was- that was wonderful! I’ve never felt anything like that! The power, the freedom, the wild- I mean, I’ve felt power with my angel abilities, but it was never like that! I felt so wild and untamed! That was incredible!” Erika breathlessly laughed, walking up to stand by his side as they peered out at the storm.
Lance’s soft grin turned into a smirk at her excitement, he understood exactly what she meant, and was immensely pleased that the both of them could experience something like that. It pleased him even more knowing he was the one who gave her that enlivening experience.
Another few moments passed as they watched the rain and the lightning. Erika had now calmed down from the thrill and was beginning to realize just how wet and cold she was. A small shiver ran through her as she tilted her head and wrung out her hair from rainwater. She looked back at the companions, now all quieted and curled up among each other to sleep or watch the storm outside.
“Maybe we should head back and leave them alone.” Erika suggested. Lance glanced at her as she fussed about herself to dry off a bit, noticing a small shiver run through her, before looking over the companions. He then glanced back at the storm in the forest. The rain was somehow still getting heavier despite how heavy it already was, and many streams they crossed will likely be much deeper. Mud will have formed, and they’re a long way from HQ.
“I don’t think we have much choice but to stay here for a while. We’re a long way from HQ, and the rain is only getting heavier. Streams will have deepened, mud pools will have formed. I’m not entirely sure we want to risk another trip out in the lightning with the way it’s getting worse.” He reasoned back to her as he observed the storm, hoping she would listen to logic and agree that it would be safer to stay in the cave for a while.
She pondered over it for a moment and he noticed as she suppressed another shiver. Being an ice dragon, he barely even felt the cold, but he realized it would be necessary to keep her warm.
“I guess you’re right.” Erika was somewhat dismayed, but also a bit relieved. She wasn’t looking forward to a long walk in the rain, but she was looking forward to a hot shower and curling up with her warm companion in her bed.
Lance’s gaze swept through the cave and found a somewhat shallow depression that would hopefully block the wind from reaching Erika while allowing them and the companions some privacy. He headed towards it, looking back as Erika hesitated and then followed.
She didn’t exactly know what Lance’s plan was. Just sit out the storm? Maybe start a small fire? She somewhat warily followed him as he sat down in a shallow depression in the cave, motioning for her to join him. I guess if we’re waiting out a storm it wouldn’t be much use to stand and wait it out, she thought. She tried and failed to suppress another shiver while she walked over, sitting down a few inches away from him as she tried to curl herself up to keep warm. However, it didn’t escape her that he stared for a few seconds more, and she began to feel the beginning rise of irritation creep into her.
“What?” She nearly snapped, turning her gaze to meet his. It was only then that she noticed his hesitance.
“You would be warmer closer to me.” He explained.
That stopped her. She didn’t really know what she was expecting, but she didn’t think she was expecting that. Then Erika took a moment to ponder how she feels about that, and another moment to ponder if he’s right, and another to ponder is she would really be that cold if she refused.
Lance huffed, done waiting for her to think over whatever she was thinking about, and shifted himself so they were brushing against each other. Erika quickly turned her gaze back to the storm outside, suddenly realizing that she was already warmer closer to him. She didn’t fight as he brought an arm up around her shoulders, almost sinking into him as warmth slowly came back to her when she was brought to lean against his chest. He reclined slightly against the cave wall behind him, giving them a more comfortable position for the long storm to come.
Erika closed her eyes and leaned a bit more against him, hating that she relied on him at the moment, but glad that he was at least warmer than the cool air around them despite the armor covering most of him. A mere moment later, she felt a movement and pressure at her hip.
Erika jerked her head back, flustered and debating why only half of her wanted to beat the shit out of Lance for trying to pull something like that while the other half actually wanted to let it go and not ruin the moment. However, as she looked at her hip she saw the ink black fur of a Gallytrot resting with its head across her hips, the rest of its body curled a bit to press itself against her leg. She thought for a moment, and as the Gallytrot let out a familiar huff she recognized it as the female Gallytrot from earlier that she had given her company to. Another head joined her’s, this time laying across Lance to brush noses with the female.
That’s probably the male that Lance found for her, Erika thought as she watched the male offer a few licks to the female’s muzzle before resting his head for good.
Another movement caught her attention, and this time she recognized that it was in fact Lance as he moved the hand that rested on her. She stilled for the heartbeat it took him to move his hand to the back of her neck, and only then did she allow herself to meet his intense blue eyes. He looked at her with an intent gaze, pressing against the back of her neck softly to pull her closer, and she complied. She leaned closer and rested her head against his chest again, shifting just slightly so she could feel the warmth from his bare neck.
Surrounded now by the warm dragon and Gallytrots, the chill of the air was beginning to drift away from her, and she no longer minded how close together they were. However, her concern now turned to the approaching nightfall, especially if the storm didn’t let up soon.
“Do you think the storm will let up before the night?” She asked, knowing very well that he likely doesn’t know the answer but needing to discuss it regardless.
Tucked safely between his neck and shoulder, Erika found she could almost doze off. He certainly was no bed, but the deep rise and fall of his chest as he breathed and rumble in his throat as he responded was certainly appealing in some way.
“Maybe. If not we’ll move further into the cave and start a small fire. Hopefully the Gallytrots will follow. There’s a number of ways to keep warm.” He muttered his thoughts as they came to him, sounding just as relaxed as she felt.
Another few moments passed before Erika broke the silence again.
“I can’t get sick from this.” She spoke softly, tired.
Lance tilted his head to the side a bit, she could feel him shift from where she hid at his neck, but didn’t say anything. The head tilt was enough for her to know that he was wondering where she was going with that thought.
“Ewelein will have my head if I come back from another mission ill or wounded.” He grunted his amusement at her comment but didn’t take his eyes off the storm outside.
“You’ll be fine.” He murmured back, his gaze scanning the forest through the storm outside. The cave made an ideal place of shelter for any creature that roamed the terrain, be it prey or predator, and the rain and darkness made it hard to see anything too far out, but Lance was intent on keeping his promise to her. She didn’t need to worry about her well-being as long as he was near.
A loud crack of thunder made Erika flinch slightly as she was just beginning to drift off, opening her eyes to look at the storm as it continued on, before shutting her eyes again and pressing further against Lance, letting herself nuzzle into his neck. In turn, he responded by gently moving his hand from the back of her neck to the arm she had slung over his abdomen, fatigue beginning to gnaw at him a bit but he fought it off for the sake of keeping watch over Erika and the strengthening storm.
They had a lot of time to kill.

superheroes need childcare benefits too
Characters/Pairing: Kobayashi Rindou, Tsukasa Eishi, Tsukasa Hi’en (OC)/EiRin
Type: Superhero!Family!AU, Freestyle
Word Count: 3071
A/N: Inspired by this post.
This drabble has been sitting in my draft pile for a couple of months already, I think? I was fooling around with the random super power generator and decided to write out something with the results I got, just for fun. Was also in the mood to write cute baby things...so there was that, too, lol.
The thing about being a superhero was that the benefits suck.
There were no such thing as paid leave or annual bonuses and the nature of the work was akin to voluntary military service to the country so it wasn’t exactly very high paying in the first place, either. In fact, it was something like an anonymous, part time obligation to society on top of juggling a ‘normal’ day job and whatever life issues and familial commitments the ‘normal’ population had to deal with…only maybe with a bit more explosions and dangerous, life-threatening events randomly thrown into the mix.
You get to meet all sorts of interesting people with interesting abilities too, and then, depending on their intentions and alignments, you try your hardest to incapacitate, or outright kill, each other. Fun times.
Rindou quite enjoyed it, actually. The thrill of living a secret double life. The excitement and unpredictability that came with every mission. And who would not enjoy being a superhero? Her partner was something amazing too, and they worked together seamlessly. Their abilities complemented each other extremely well, and after all the years of being paired together, their teamwork was one of the best in the country, for their rank and specialty type, even.
That was just as well, since they were partners in every meaning of the word. They had known each other from a young age and had only grown closer over the years, from teammates to best friends to lovers.
Recently, they had also become parents. And with parenthood, came responsibilities that both were suddenly acutely conscious of, towards the tiny young life that they had made together. Being reckless for the sake of having fun was no longer acceptable. They had to be more careful during assignments now, and for the moment at least, they had also agreed that both should not be going on call at the same time – one would remain at home on baby watch while the other was out performing their civic duty.
“Rindou.” Eishi’s calm, smooth voice spoke over the comm earpiece that she was wearing. “Are you heading home soon?”
“Mm,” she replied distractedly, concentrating on focusing her powers and directing them to work as she intended. Her abilities had always been a bit on the wild side and not very easy to control, and she constantly had to work on them so that they would not get the better of her.
It was a simple rescue mission this time. There was a serious collision between two freight vessels off the shores of Tokyo, just sitting on one of the major shipping routes. She had been activated by the agency because her powers were probably the most useful to deal with an incident of this scale involving huge mobile constructs. The crews of both vessels had already been evacuated and airlifted out of the scene so now it was her turn to flex her muscles and get down to business.
“Can you swing by the store for some milk and eggs on the way back? We ran out.”
“’Kay~” Slit gold eyes grew unnaturally bright as she concentrated, willing all her energy into intense mental focus. Visualizing the bright, glowing rope of power in her mind’s eye, she proceeded to grab firmly onto it and give it a mighty heave.
Just like that, the atmospheric pressure dropped, and the energy around her shifted.
Hovering midair over the vast ocean, a mere fifty feet above where the partially submerged cargo ships were rapidly taking in water and about to sink right in the middle of the high sea traffic zone, the redhead watched musingly as a couple hundred thousand tonnage of steel and freight creaked and groaned ominously as the absolute laws of physics were exerted on them…in an entirely unnatural way.
“Is there anything else that you want me to pick up, dear husband?” she asked cheerfully. She was in a good mood today, and for obvious reasons. The sun was shining overhead, the weather was great. All in all, it was a really nice day to be out and about, even if she had to help haul back to the bay two huge ass ships.
There was a pause, and then her significant other remarked. “You’re just really happy to be finally out of the house, aren’t you?”
Before Rindou could respond, a loud, unintelligible squawk transmitted through the earpiece, followed by what sounded like awkward, unsteady flapping. Both parents winced at the ringing, pitched cry.
“Is that En-chan? What’s he doin’? He sounds energetic.”
“Our son is sitting on my shoulder.” Was Eishi’s reply. “I think he’s screaming for you.”
She could not help but grin at the mental imagery of her somewhat ruffled mate having to stay at home wrestling with their quirky and unruly offspring. The baby was barely six months old but the rapid manifestation of his unique abilities meant that his parents never quite knew what to expect next when it came to him. Regardless, Rindou still thought that her son was the best thing since sliced bread. Eishi more or less rolled with the lofty opinion because he largely felt the same way ever since they handed him the squalling newborn straight out of the delivery suite.
“Geeze, he’s probably just hungry again. Feed him well, Tsukasa~!”
The semi-submerged vessels were no longer sinking. If anything, they were expelling water at an incredible, exponential rate, and starting to recover miraculously from their previous, badly listing conditions. Rindou kept a halfhearted eye on the ships, but her attention was caught more by the slight commotion coming from the other end of the line.
Eishi muttered. “He doesn’t want his bottle. I don’t think he’s even interested in milk right now.”
More indignant chirruping and belligerent rustling could be heard from the other end of the line. The older of the two also seemed to be having quite a time of it pacifying the younger one. “En, settle down. I know you hear her voice, but your mother’s not here.”
There was a querying, unhappy cry of what sounded like a young eaglet. By then, Rindou could not contain her curiosity any longer. Her son had been a normal human baby (a super cute, chubby cheeked one) when she had left the house, but apparently that was no longer the case. She would have been more worried as a mother if not for the fact that this peculiar occurrence happened too often for her to be alarmed anymore. In their household, this type of situation was only normal, when one’s offspring possessed the rare ability to randomly shapeshift.
“Eh? What did En-chan become this time? How come all the interesting things happen only when you’re home alone with him? That’s hardly fair at all!”
There was a brief pause as her husband struggled not to share his actual thoughts on the matter, which more or less amounted to how he would rather have preferred not to have anything interesting happen at all when he was left in charge of watching their only child. Because Hi’en was still very, very young and had no control whatsoever over his powers, the infant often randomly shifted into supernatural creatures that had only been heard of and read about in myths and legends. The first time it happened, the boy was only a couple of months old when he abruptly turned into a phoenix chick, and when the panicked parents found the young creature floundering about in their son’s cot, they had initially thought that someone had stolen their precious offspring only to replace it with this strange looking…scraggly, angry baby bird of unidentified origins…and that which could also random burst into fire.
The problem with their child being able to shapeshift into random mythical creatures was that when he was in those forms, feeding and caring for his needs became a unique challenge. Sometimes Hi’en would stay in one creature form for an hour at most before popping back to his sleepy human baby self, other times, he stuck with whatever form he was most comfortable with for days on end and that was when his parents abruptly realized that (mythical) animal husbandry had also became an important prerequisite when it came to parenthood. This time was no different.
Eishi observed his awkwardly flailing son, all wings, talons, feathers…paws, claws and tail. The wings on the back were still small and not yet fully developed, the feathers all fluffy brownish-bronze baby down and not even molting anytime soon. The body was that of a very young lion cub; soft russet gold fur still speckled with camouflaging spots and clumsy, tapering tail fat and stubby from infancy. The front limbs ended in raptorial, razor talons and the back limbs in feline paws and equally sharp pinprick claws. A fuzzy, aquiline face with beady golden eyes and a sharp hooked beak paid rapt attention to his male parent, who was squinting at the youngster just as discerningly.
Hi’en let loose a series of demanding chirrups and clumsily headbutted his father for attention. Eishi plucked the youngling who had insisted on climbing precariously onto his shoulder when he heard his mother’s voice earlier and cradled his cat-sized child against his chest, barely even flinching when the baby dug his tiny claws into his forearms for stability. The white-haired man balanced the cellphone between his ear and shoulder, distractedly replying Rindou even as he padded into the kitchen with the fussing cub in tow.
“I think he turned into a griffin this time.”
“…Huh. What do those eat?”
That was a very good question, and one which the young parents found themselves asking almost every other week these days.
In the background, the massive constructs that were the damaged shipping vessels were now floating lightly on the shimmering ocean surface, delicate as a pair of drifting feathers. Thanks to her abilities to manipulate gravity and air, sending the ships back to the shipyard for repair would be a breeze. Pun intended.
“Think the packet of raw chicken sitting in the freezer will work?” Rindou asked as she started to gather and shape the climate to obey her will. Her gaze turned upwards, watching the gigantic nimbuses roll in and dim the skies overhead. The barometric pressure quickly dropped further, and the ambient wind speed started to pick up. The previously calm, tranquil waters became more restless, choppy, though not turbulent enough to send the ships back down to the bottom of the ocean. Rindou exerted her will and steadily pushed.
The two vessels slowly started to move, the howling gale and reduced inertia enough to set them both limping in the direction of port. Rindou trailed her responsibilities closely, making sure that they would reach their destination with no unforeseen accidents along the way.
Back home, Eishi obligingly popped open the door of the freezer compartment and pulled out the cellophane wrapped tray of chicken. He presented it to Hi’en, who nudged at the Styrofoam curiously with his beak before recoiling from it with disdain.
“No?” he asked the little griffin. His son peered at him briefly with his slit gold eyes before deciding that his father’s shirt buttons were much more interesting. He started to peck at one of them, trying to pry it off.
“I’ll defrost and cut the meat into smaller strips to see if he wants it,” Eishi spoke into the phone, shutting the freezer door and setting the packet of chicken on the counter to thaw. “I think we should find that anthropology professor at the university again and seek his opinion, just in case.”
Rindou grimaced at the thought of meeting the suspicious, twitchy man once more. She was pretty sure that the man was starting to suspect that something weird was going on with the overly insistent couple who kept asking him overly specific questions regarding the diets and behavioral patterns of legendary creatures that should not exist.
“Alright, if you feel that’s gonna help.” An excellent idea struck her. “Maybe En-chan would want fresh seafood instead. I can rustle up a waterspout and bring some catch of the day home!”
“…Please don’t do that.” Eishi was quick to shoot down the idea before his mate could run wild with it. The last time she did something similar in a misguided attempt at domesticity while harboring delusions of a homemade dinner, it rained fish intermittently over the city for an entire day. “The agency frowns upon that sort of power misuse and we don’t have enough fridge space.”
Rindou grumbled. What use were her powers even if she couldn’t apply them for little things like that?
“Come home soon,” Eishi continued. Their child lifted his head from where he had been gnawing at his father’s shirt and chimed in with an accompanying series of inquisitive peeps and chirps. “We’re looking forward to your safe return.”
Despite her disgruntlement, Rindou’s cheeks warmed happily. “Then I shall, since you asked so nicely.”
When two beings with the recessive mutated genome that gave them unique abilities produce an offspring, it is virtually guaranteed that their progeny would inherit the same metamorphosed DNA sequence as well. However, just because that peculiar gene had been passed down from parents to child did not mean that the latter would end up with the same type of ultra-abilities that either parental units had. As such, having children when one possessed superpowers was very much like entering a lucky draw.
There is an implicit understanding that there will be a special prize, but what it is exactly or how useful it will be is something entirely up in the air until the child’s powers finally chooses to establish themselves.
Even before the birth of their son, Eishi and Rindou had already decided on his name out of two reasons.
The first was for bond. Both parents were distinct air types and spent so much of their time in the skies that they might as well have been born birds themselves. They had flown together, fought together, courted, loved. Their mutual joy, their steadfast devotion to each other… Hi’en was the precious culmination of all this happiness.
The second was for blessing. It was the parents’ sincerest wish for their firstborn that he would always be able to fly as far and as freely as he wanted to, just like a brave and lithe swallow, unfazed and unhindered by all the challenges that he would ever meet in life.
When Hi’en’s powers initially manifested in an unexpected way that turned him into a firebird, his parents wondered if they had perhaps named him a bit too aptly. Even though the kanji ‘Hi’ in his name translated to ‘flight,’ it also shared the same pronunciation for the kanji that denoted ‘fire.’
Regardless of the fact that their child’s abilities bore no similarities whatsoever with theirs, his parents remained endlessly delighted and fascinated with their strange little chick. All of his little milestones and progresses Eishi noted down meticulously and Rindou cheered for with pride and glee. Hi’en was developing physically and mentally faster than the average infant, though in all likelihood it was because he was switching forms so often. However, all that growing was exhausting for the young baby, and so he ate a lot, and then he slept a lot.
When Rindou returned that evening, it was to a quiet apartment with the lights dimmed. There was a flickering glow emanating from the living room, and when she exchanged her shoes for indoor ones at the genkan and went down the hallway, she discovered that the source of light was from the television, the volume muted so that only the images were playing across the screen. Eishi was sprawled out in the middle of the couch strewn all over with toys, his eyes closed, faintly, halfheartedly humming a lulling song. Curled against his chest was a little ball of fur and feathers, and the little thing must have tuckered himself out after running his father ragged all day, for he barely stirred even when his female parent approached and sank onto the adjacent cushions.
Eishi cracked opened one eye, sleepy lavender meeting quietly amused gold.
“…Okaeri,” he greeted his mate softly. He wasn’t exactly his usual neat, immaculate self. It appeared that even possessing the ability of accelerated thought process was no match to counter the sheer unpredictability of a small but determined infant. Eishi’s hair looked like he had run his hands through it several times that evening alone, his shirt was missing some buttons and partially untucked, and there were unidentifiable stains on his jeans and also on his collar. She thought that he looked manly and attractive all the same, exuding responsible daddy vibes, very irresistible.
“Tadaima,” she mouthed back. Her hand came up, fingers brushing over his crown, trying to help arrange the unrulier locks into some semblance of order. “Looks like you had a nice time with En-chan,” she drawled innocuously, trying not to grin at his visibly disheveled expression. She petted his hair affectionately, at the same time leaning in to brush her lips against his jaw. “You’ve worked hard today, papa~”
He silently tilted his head against hers, his arms already occupied cradling their child. Rindou’s gaze lowered onto where Hi’en was quietly sleeping. His fuzzy little face was barely visible, tucked under one downy front limb as he continued to doze, his little torso gently rising and falling with the cadence of his deep, steady breathing. Just looking at her son made her very happy, regardless of what form he chose to take. He was safe and protected, he was perfectly healthy, and he was growing up well. That was all that mattered.
“…Ah. I forgot the milk and eggs.”
Eishi’s eyes had closed again, and he leaned just a little more into her before she could move away.
“Let’s do that tomorrow… Stay.”
…So maybe she wasn’t the only one who felt a bit lonely now that they wouldn’t be able to take missions together, at least not in the immediate future.
She snuggled down beside him, this boy she loved first long before he gave her another to dote on and adore. Their family might be small and there were also times when it felt like they had no idea what they were doing, but to her, this was perfect.
“’Kay.”

Uh scenario: mc to Jumin, offering to take care of the cat instead of jaehee
Hello anon, thank you for your request and sorry for taking so long, I hope you enjoy!
In the messenger app, Jumin was busy talking to Jaehee about taking care of Elizabeth the 3rd once again, much to her dismay. He had an important meeting and would have to be away, but of course he will not go unless he knows Elizabeth is being cared for. However, given the amount of work Jaehee had, and that she would have to be busy going about at work, taking care of Elizabeth would be especially inconvenient today.
Mc could see she was clearly trying to protest, so offered up a solution.
MC: May I take care of Elizabeth? I have more time to pay close attention to her, then Jaehee can complete her work.
Jumin: …
Jaehee: Yes then I can get more work done, and Mc will take good care of Elizabeth the 3rd, she will give her more care and attention.
Jaehee: Mc is a very kind, trust worthy person to look after Elizabeth the 3rd.
Jumin: We don’t know the location of her apartment and I’d feel more comfortable knowing where she is.
Jaehee: *sigh emoji*
Jumin: Mc, you can come look after Elizabeth the 3rd at my penthouse, I will send driver Kim to pick you up in a public area.
Jaehee: *celebrating emoji*
Jaehee: This is a much better arrangement.
Jaehee: Thank you, Mc.
Mc: Okay, I’m on my way.
Mc: It’s a pleasure, Jaehee, I’m glad to help. ^^
Once Mc arrived, Jumin greeted her by the door and walked her through the penthouse, showing her where Elizabeth’s food is and how to feed her and such. Mc listened intently, even her food bowls looked very expensive, but she is such a happy cat, she really is spoiled by his love.
He gave a specific schedule on when she should be fed, but it was pretty straight forward.
“Thank you for trusting me with Elizabeth, Jumin, I’ll take good care of her!” Mc stated cheerfully, happy to help out and also ease some stress from Jaehee, whom texted her that she would get her a coffee as a thank you.
“Yes, I know you will, it’s nice to have someone looking after her who has the same appreciation for her beauty as I do.” He smiled kindly to her, gripping the cuff of his shirt at what seemed like habit.
“Of course, I love cats, and Elizabeth really is a beautiful cat.” Mc smiled as she looked towards Elizabeth, whom made their way to her and rubbed against her legs, purring.
“She seems to have taken a liking to you already.” He chuckled, watching Elizabeth meow and purr at Mc, standing up on her hind paws as if she wanted to climb Mc’s leg.
Mc giggled and kneeled down, petting Elizabeth and scratching her under her chin, causing the feline to purr even louder, absolutely loving attention.
“She’s very affectionate.” Mc commented, smiling fondly as the cat nuzzled into her hand.
“Especially towards you.” Jumin observed, quite curious, “She’s not even this friendly to Assistant Kang, usually only with me. It may be because she can tell you have an appreciation towards cat.” He walked over, kneeling down as well, extending his hand as Elizabeth quickly turned and nuzzled into his, she sat down as both him and Mc pet her, very happy and content at the attention.
As Mc focused all of her attention on Elizabeth, smiling happily at the cute feline, she didn’t notice Jumin’s gaze on her as she pet the cat. She had a soft, loving look in her eye and her cheeks seemed to be a bit flushed, perhaps from Elizabeth’s cuteness, but he can truly see that she was quite a cat lover.
Something about seeing that made his heart warm up, and it was more than just having someone share his love for cats, but rather he noticed just how beautiful she was.
The way the sunlight from the window illuminated her features, those kind caring eyes that match her heart, truth be told he had been taken by her kindness towards the RFA members on the messenger alone, but now, he felt… strange.
Something about that loving look in her eyes, he found himself… wanting that gaze to be on him, he wanted to feel that love towards him. He found it odd, but intriguing.
He seemed to have a soft, caring gaze himself, before he cleared his throat as he regained his composure. He stood up and Mc did as well, “I will be back as soon as I can, in the meantime please make yourself at home while you look after Elizabeth, you can call the chief of security if you need anything. There’s plenty of services available here if you need anything, you can simply call them.” He spoke in his usual tone, though he seemed to not make eye contact sometimes, Mc tilted her head but then nodded, smiling cheerfully.
“Alright, thank you, Jumin. I will take good care of Elizabeth, and I will update you on her if you want while you are away.” She smiled, she didn’t want him to have to try and rush home as soon as he could, though it seemed like something he would do regardless.
“No need to thank me, I am simply making sure you will be well provided for as you look after Elizabeth the 3rd.” he responded in his usual way whenever someone thanked him for his kindness, but she knew it was from that rather then it simply being him assisting a fellow RFA member. He truly cared for everyone, though he tries to disguise it as simply doing a job of some sort.
He seemed to pause for a moment, “I should be thanking you, Mc, you have a very kind heart. The RFA has been a brighter place ever since you joined.” He said as that smile returned, “That reminds me, if Seven tries to convince you to let him see Elizabeth, ignore him. I know you wouldn’t listen to him, but I expect no less of him to try.” He sighed, but he had a very serious look in his eye, he took Elizabeth’s security very seriously, especially from him.
“If he tries to break in, just call the chief of security, though they will be keeping an eye out so you shouldn’t have to worry. I better be going now, Elizabeth, you are in good hands, I will try to make it home as soon as I can, but you have Mc to keep you company.” He looked towards Elizabeth, smiling as he used a loving tone.
“Meow~” Elizabeth seemed to respond happily, as she rubbed against Mc’s legs again.
After Jumin left, Mc sat down on the sofa as Elizabeth curled in her lap, purring happily as she pet her. After a while, she logged onto the messenger, and guess who was eagerly waiting for her.
Seven: Mc!!
Seven: How is my dear Elly?
Seven: No fair, I wanted to look after her!
Seven: *shaking hands emoji*
Mc: Hey Seven, haha you know Jumin wouldn’t allow that. ^^;
Mc: She is well, she’s been purring happily.
Seven: True >_
Seven: *love emoji*
Seven: I miss her purrs!
Seven: Can’t I come pet her, pretty please~? I miss my love
Mc: lol, I can’t do that, but I’ll tell her you said hi.
Seven: *celebrating emoji*
Seven: Aaaw thanks Mc
Seven: You are such a kind angel
Seven: Unlike Jumin
Mc: Oh I don’t know about that, Jumin is quite sweet.
Seven: Sweet?
Seven: That’s a first.
Seven: But he does seem to have a soft spot for you
Seven: *’hello’ lifting glasses emoji*
Mc: Me?
Seven: Ya.
Seven: He was quick to accept your offer to look after his dear Elly after all~
After speaking with Seven, Mc logged off the messenger, placing her phone down and looking up in contemplation. What Seven said was true, he was always kind to her, and he did seem to trust her with Elizabeth right off the bat. She thought nothing of it until now, a slight blush on her face, she had always noticed Jumin’s kind nature even with the others, since he always offered to help them out expecting nothing in return, hell he still offers jobs to Zen despite how they bicker all the time.
So she wondered if it wasn’t really the case that he was kinder to her, but rather how the others fail to see his general kindness towards all the RFA, since he always says it’s like a duty to help out fellow members, as if to hide his act of actually caring for them.
Finally, Jumin returned to the penthouse, the meeting had taken longer than expected and he winded up returning late, it was already night. He walked in but didn’t see Mc nor Elizabeth around, he looked around as he removed his coat, wondering where they were since he expected Mc to be waiting impatiently by the door, since he kept her here longer than he promised. He walked over and froze when he saw his sofa, there Mc lay down, sleeping peacefully as Elizabeth curled up on her chest, purring and sleeping soundly as well. The moonlight illuminated them both, and their stunning features, he hadn’t expected to see something like this nor feel the way he did right now. His features softened and he took out his phone, the sight too stunning to pass by, he took three photos, all of them blurry but at least he can keep this beautiful moment forever.
Albeit, yes it may be kind of creepy taking a picture of a woman while she sleeps when you are just friends, but on the other hand, it would have been a shame to disturb them as well. He put away his phone but suddenly Elizabeth seemed to sense his presence, she slowly opened her eyes and looked up to him sleepily, meowing affectionately and purring once again.
He smiled to the feline, and walked up to her, petting her head as she affectionately nuzzled his hand. He brought his finger over his lips as if to tell Elizabeth not to wake Mc up, and left to fetch something, Elizabeth got up and jumped off the sofa in order to follow him and Mc stirred a bit at the loss of warmth but still slept.
Jumin returned with a blanket, and put the blanket over Mc so she could be more comfortable and warm. As he did so, he felt his cheeks flushed as he saw her sleeping face in the moonlight more closely, he hovered for a bit, absolutely stunned by how beautiful she looked, how peaceful she looked. He felt the same feeling he did earlier with her, his gaze studied her features, lingering longer on how soft her lips looked.
He smiled and once he tucked her in a bit, he stood up and went to the kitchen, quietly calling Elizabeth to follow him to let the sleeping girl rest.
A few moments later, Mc woke up, rubbing her eyes she felt so warm and snug. Then she remembered that she wasn’t in her apartment, she blinked as she woke up a bit more, looking around, this is still Jumin’s place! She felt the warm thing on her as she searched for Elizabeth, this was a… blanket? That wasn’t there before, she sat up and rubbed her eyes, then looked out the window, her eyes widened as she saw it was night and she wasn’t sure how late at night either. She looked to the blanket again and registering Elizabeth’s absence, Jumin must have returned and found her asleep, and… he must have put the blanket over her? She blushed at the thought, also embarrassed she fell asleep on the job.
Jumin was in the main room, sitting with wine as Elizabeth purred happily on his lap, she had been especially happy and content lately, and he could only imagine it’s because of how well Mc looked after her. Giving her affection while he was away, he smiled at the thought. He looked up when Mc walked into the room, her hair a little messy and still a little sleepy, she smiled kindly to him and he felt his heart flutter in his chest. “Sleep well? I didn’t want to disturb you.” He smiled, his eyes softening as he looked into her gaze.
“Yeah.. Sorry I fell asleep, I feel so silly.” She laughed a little, giving a sheepish smile, a pink tinge on her cheeks as she felt really embarrassed at the thought of him finding her drooling on his couch, even though she wasn’t actually in reality, it’s just how she pictures herself how she sleeps.
“No need to apologize, I should be the one to apologize to you, I kept you here much later than I should have.” He stood up and fiddled with the cuff of his sleeve, smiling to her though he did really look like he felt bad about that.
“Huh? No, it’s fine it’s fine.” She reassured him, waving her hand to emphasize her words. “You’re meeting just winded up taking longer, it’s not your fault~” She looked him in the eyes and smiled warmly, he felt himself almost burn up as he held her gaze. “Thank you for being so understanding, Mc.” He said with genuine appreciation, though she didn’t understand why, but it sounded like he speaking of more than just her understanding why he was late, but it sounded like he was thanking her for understanding him in general.
She tilted her head, and he felt the overwhelming urge to… hug her, but he pushed that thought at the back of his head, she sometimes reminded him of a cat. No, actually, the way she would look at him sometimes, it sometimes reminded him of how Rika would sometimes would see through him, but this seemed even more so and he felt himself almost relax whenever around her presence, like she seemed to give him peace in some way.
“It’s very late now, and I wouldn’t want to send you home alone at this hour, especially since I don’t know the location of your apartment. Let me make it up to you, by letting you stay the night.” he seemed pleased at the thought, now she wouldn’t have to worry about getting home. Mc’s eyes widened and was about to protest but, it was true that it was late, and she wondered if it would be more trouble to him if she had to leave and all that, plus she could tell he felt bad about being late earlier. “Jumin, you don’t have to. I know it was something you couldn’t have helped, I don’t want to inconvenience you.” She politely tried to assure him that he doesn’t need to owe her anything, and he shouldn’t feel like he needs to, but of course, Jumin being Jumin, he insisted. “There is no way you could ever be an inconvenience, it’s the least I can do as you have taken very good care of Elizabeth the 3rd for me, something you didn’t have to do… But I’m glad you did.” He smiled softly as he said that, yes he was always kind to Mc but the way he looked at her now seemed different, she couldn’t tell exactly what, but it seemed to be… almost like fondness?
Mc shook the thought from her head, perhaps she was flattering herself too much, and he was just grateful that she spent her time keeping company to Elizabeth the 3rd? Yeah, that sounded more accurate, after all that was always his main worry, he never wanted Elizabeth to be alone… Or rather lonely like how he sometimes felt but wouldn’t admit.
After some back and forth he managed to convince her to stay, much to his delight, and had a chef make them a nice dinner- another way of him repaying her as he puts it. She was a little timid at first, but soon relaxed and accepted his generosity, since there’s no way he would let her go home alone at this hour, it was pretty late after all.
They sat together by a table, they both had wine glasses and it was nice and pleasant, there was no table cloth or anything fancy on the table, since they were just two friends sharing a meal together and not on a date. They both looked out to the window, the moon was beautiful in the night sky, and you could see some illuminated buildings further on. It was nice… peaceful, she enjoyed looking at the view.
Jumin seemed to as well, though he had a silent contemplated look on his face, he was used to this view, often sharing it with Elizabeth the 3rd, but somehow it sometimes seemed lonely as well. Of course he would push that feeling a side, since he didn’t have to be so since he had Elizabeth, and that’s all he wanted but now, somehow spending it with Mc, he’s started to feel, what he had been yearning for.
But they were just friends, of course, but he couldn’t help but gaze to her rather than the view. Watching her peaceful face, as she looked out the window dreamily, with the glass of wine with her, and the moonlight illuminating her features even more so now, he could see all the tiny details of her that he found, beautiful. How delicate her fingers seemed to be as they rested on the wine glass, her exposed ear with her hair brushed back behind it, how soft her lips were, and how full of wonder her eyes seemed to have.
He swirled his wine around in the glass, she was something special, he could even tell so just by seeing her on the messenger as she talked to everyone, you could feel the compassion and her kind heart from there already as she made all the members happy, supporting them. She was quite a warm person too, as she even jokes around, unlike Rika. She brought life to the RFA, which he will forever be grateful for.
“Thank you, again, Jumin.” She stated suddenly, snapping him out of his thoughts, he seemed surprised that she thanked him again. “I am just ensuring the safety of a fellow RFA member.” he stated, though he gave a soft smile showing that he appreciates her gratitude, even though he always makes as if its a business type of decision. She smiled and nodded, “I know you do these things because you care about the RFA members, and never seem to expect anything in return.” She pointed out, playfully giving him a sly look, like she’s onto him.
He looked surprised, he opened his mouth but then closed it, since it was true, he had been caught out. He looked away, flattered that she thought of him this way, he wasn’t used to it. Somehow, he felt his chest warm up, it was a nice feeling. He looked to her and smiled again, deciding he doesn’t need to say anything.
Mc thought about what Seven said, her cheeks getting red tinge, has Jumin really been more soft with her? If that was the case, she wondered why, it felt silly how this made her get butterflies. Jumin meanwhile, held his gaze on her, he felt himself admiring her. He noticed her cheeks flush and got concerned for a moment, but he knew it wasn’t from a fever, it made her look so cute to him.
“So, Luciel mentioned something random today.” She started off, shyly tracing her finger on the top of the wine glass, “Hm?” He placed his glass down, wondering what odd thing the hacker said this time. “He said, that you seem to be softer to me than anyone else.” She blushed more, feeling silly for bringing it up, but she was curious.
“Yes, we get a long quite well, after all.” He responded, not even surprised the hacker brought it up, but a smile was tugging at his lips when he saw her face flush a little more. “I quite like you, Mc, I seem to be able to have conversations with you that I wouldn’t with the others. You seem to understand me.” His eyes softened and he smiled to her, making eye contact with her when he said that, he felt like he could express anything to her.
She held his gaze, blushing at his words, it was true what he said. “Of course, I enjoy your company, Jumin.” it was true, she always loved talking to him on the messenger, sometimes a little bit more of a favoritism for him than the others. She enjoyed his wit sometimes when he talks to the members, especially when him and Zen bicker, that was the first time she told him he was funny- and that seemed to make him happy.
They’d chat often in private message as well, he seemed to open more and more as they talked. Sharing his love for cats and appreciating Elizabeth’s beauty almost as much as he did, he was happy to have a friend whom shared his views on that. Plus it seemed that she never had any bias for him coming from a wealthy background, and explained anytime if he asked her about commoner food, he liked her wisdom on certain subjects as well, especially when he didn’t understand some things such as love. He found himself always wanting to call her, or talk to her when he got stressed at work, it was almost just as therapeutic as the cat projects, she always seemed to lift him up.
He thought about all these factors, and smiled at how oblivious she was to how much she impacted everyone, she really was like a light for the RFA… and for him especially. “I enjoy your company as well, you are one of few people I can have deep conversations with.”
He studied her features, finding himself get more and more captivated by her, something about her was completely alluring, he found himself imagining things, wondering how soft her lips felt or how they tasted. He closed his eyes, trying to get a grip on himself, but he knew one thing.
He desired her.
They enjoyed their evening together, with Jumin making some more jokes and Mc laughing every now and then, she always seemed to get his jokes which made him happy. They talked more about cats, Elizabeth, and about some deeper topics.
He allowed her to sleep on his bed, since he could sleep else where, which she protested but of course, Jumin Han would not be swayed.
It seemed after taking care of Elizabeth, Jumin and Mc grew closer, and now he seemed to always check if Mc was available to take care of his dear feline, rather than Jaehee, much to the Assistant’s surprise and relief. The other members wondered what happened to have got them this close, but Jumin would just say Elizabeth really likes Mc, and that she took good care of her. Though of course, he felt the same.
Seven still whined about not being the one to look after Elly and of course Zen began to get more and more protective over Mc, also scolding Jumin for keeping her at his place for the whole night, and warning him that he better not try anything, telling Mc men are wolves. You know, the usual. But their closeness was noticed by all the members, and Jumin seemed to send more photos of Elizabeth to Mc on private messages.

dream log: 7/7/2019
hey friends! i’ve had intense nightmares for the past two nights out of nowhere for the first time in ages, so i thought i should maybe record them! it also says a lot because it’s 8pm on 7/9/19 and i still remember the one from last night and the one before! so i’ll start with the previous night and record the one from last night in a new post. i’d write these in my book of shadows but i need to type because it’s SO much information. okay!
so, dream log for 7/7/19 (or however you wanna see it; like the night of the 7th, waking up on the 8th. ...okay. lol)
I remember I was hanging out with my brother for some reason. I was at his house and I guess I had my cat minnie with me, but honestly i don’t remember if i had her then as well, or if she just came in later.
so timmy and i were hanging out, and i vividly remember him drinking a beer. eventually i had to leave, i believe the next morning, because i think i slept over. so i got up and went to leave, and some girl (was it courtney, his wife? or maybe it was a random person? lol i have no idea) asked me how to get back home to my house, hell maybe it was my little sister but she’s better at directions than me. i THINK i knew who it was in the moment? anyway.
i do remember that it was kind of weird; i had to go out the back door and go all the way around a corner for some reason and then i was right at the intersection that leads directly to my parent’s house. this is not even close to where his house is or what it looks like outside, but whatever. dreams are weird.
i don’t remember if i drove anywhere, i feel like i got in a car? but then at some point i was talking to my mom and it was like a phone call except i could see her? and i told her that i had to go home and i’d talk to her later. we “hung up” and i walked away.
next thing i know, i was walking outside and decided to sit in the middle of this field with long ass grass that kind of looked like wheat. it was bright out, literally like midday, and after a moment i started slowly sliding forward. it was like i had sat down on a conveyor belt but again, i was outside in the grass. it didn’t make sense but i wasn’t alarmed in the dream. a little surprised sure, but figured i’d ride along for a bit. i looked up to see what were supposed to be eagles but looked more like 3d renditions of the legal eagle cogs in toontown. one made eye contact with me, but it had two beaks, one facing in each direction. it only had one eye, and it was in the middle. kind of freaky, but again in the dream i was chill about it.
the further i go along, the more animals i see. at first, they’re all running around wild in this field. i saw minnie at one point and i think she had come with me, so i was like “shit i should probably pick her up now that there are so many wild animals near us” so i stood up and scooped her up in my arms. she was chill, and we came to the end of the field. it was ended by this wooden bridge over the shallowest of creeks. it was a covered bridge, again all dark stained wood, but not like a roof, just boards coming up around and over, for aesthetic i guess.
so i start walking through this bridge, and i see a baby lion just chilling on the bridge. i hold minnie a little tighter but have no panic in me, just smile and coo at it as i pass. after we exit the bridge is when i see this long sidewalk, starting about 500 feet to the left of in front of me (two cells; see explanation) and continuing so far to the right that i can’t see the end. it’s full mostly of cells, about as large as a bedroom but all metal and covered in bars, but all separated by about a foot. there are also trees covering where it seems to curve to the right.
i don’t go to the beginning, but i do walk forward. there is an elephant or something similar in that cell, and i see some more animals, some in cells, some in the creek (and the small pond the creek starts turning into), and i can still see a few on the other side of the water playing in the grass. lots of baby lions, some giraffes, elephants, birds, etc.
after i go down probably 7 or 8, i come to the bend, which is also covered by a weird covered bridge type thing but it’s not actually a bridge? the floor is metal, like those toolboxes on the back of trucks (very loud when you step on it, every step echoes and clanks), with solid white metal walls and a flat metal roof, but open on the other side. there was a raised portion that also looked like truck tool boxes but it ran the whole span of one side, and there was a mama lion and some cubs running around her. she watched me lazily (but also had a mane so? but i was just positive it was a mama in the dream so idk man, like she’d just had these babies) and did the little closing her eyes signal that all cats do, which means i trust you. i did it back, tiny minnie still in hand, squirming and trying to get down and play with the babies. i held her tighter by the chest, struggling to cradle her again, her legs dangling. we exited the metal bridge thing.
after that, we’re on a dirt path. lighting is dim even though it’s daytime, threats of rain it seems like? this was just supposed to be a detour but i’ve been having such a good time that i want to keep going, see how many cool animals i can see, and maybe i can cut through here anyway, like when i exit i’ll be closer to home. i have a small feeling of dread but i ignore it, excited. there are bits of trash on the ground, like paper water cups ripped in half, old receipts covered in mud, that kind of thing. it’s ugly but i don’t think much of it. i keep going, see a few monkeys, nothing too crazy. i walk under another wooden bridge, much like the first one that led me here from that bright field. thinking about the first one is what makes me realize just how dark it’s gotten, even though again, it should still be about noon or so. certainly no later than 3pm. now i’m struggling very hard to keep minnie in my arms. i can’t let her go because there are lions around and things, you know? she could get killed or eaten, or i could get bitten trying to grab her, because after that inital row of cells, all of these animals are just roaming about.
i walk through this wooden bridge and notice another young lion. not a baby, probably about a kid. it’s incredibly playful, pawing at my jeans, claws slightly out but again, playful. i’m gripping minnie because she’s scared. this thing is like up to my knee sitting down, and it’s jumping up on me, swinging at her tail. i’m trying to gather her together and hold her up a little out of its way, when i put one foot outside of this bridge. up ahead it’s bright again, but it’s still dirt and no more grass or flooring or anything, and there’s a very flimsy fence on either side of the path that is supposed to serve as cells. so like a square of fence, another foot down is another, and so on, on both ends. there’s a skinny tree to the right so i can’t see what’s in the right fence except that it’s massive. but to the left is a lion that...
picture aslan, like movie aslan from narnia. got it? okay, now multiply his size by 1000. motherfucker was literally big chilling, just standing there, lazily waving his tail outside of this flimsy, poorly built fence that was so small for him it was almost cutting into his skin, and literally not even his head, his BUTT was hundreds of feet taller than ANY building, ANY tree, ANYTHING IN SIGHT. Like god-level boss fight, you know? like the kind of boss fight that you only win with cheat codes and years of patience.
it didn’t look at me thank god, but i immediately got scared and ducked back under the bridge, at which point that playful little lion started growling at me and hissing, jumping up the same way but no longer playful, claws out. i managed to swerve, holding minnie up like the lion king, and i booked it the hell out of that bridge. it didn’t leave the bridge which was odd, but i was panicked. i felt eyes on me and a sense of danger and minnie was FREAKING OUT. so i clutched her to my chest and started running. animals looked at me, puffing up their chests but mostly not moving to attack me or anything, and when i got back to the muddy area where there was trash, looking at the ground the whole time so i didn’t meet any animal’s eyes and accidentally challenge them, i saw a disturbingly realistic and gory baby’s head. just fucking severed and bloody and staring up at me, no body to be found. just a goddamn head. i started like scream-crying and ran faster, alarming the mama lion and causing her to hiss and bare her teeth and claws, standing on the raised platform with all her babies behind her. i stopped and fell back a few steps, but when she didn’t charge me and i felt like i heard another set of feet running up behind me, i pressed myself against the wall, ducked my head but kept my eyes up, and slid all the way out. she watched me intently but never attacked.
i was stumbling over my feet, gripping my cat for her life and for mine because we couldn’t afford to slow down it felt like (although every animal seemed to stop at the end of their section, like video game enemies), and it took me AGES to finally, FINALLY get all the way out and through that first wooden bridge. my panic halted as soon as i was back in the field, but there were still like wild ostriches and lions and shit so we kept it safe and stopped running but kept speed walking all the way back up to where i’d been to start with. i made eye contact with the double beaked bald eagle again, but i don’t think it ever made a noise at me. once i was past that conveyor belt point (which again, never looked like anything was even there), i loosened my grip on minnie, held her up a little and kissed her, smoothed down her fur, and made my way back to my mom’s house, which was fairly close. i couldn’t go home after that.
again, it was like we were on a phone call but in person, and i remember telling her everything that happened while i let minnie walk around the room since she had been squeezed in my arms for so long, and when i got to the baby head part, she just casually was like “that sounds gross.” and i was like “no mom, i mean it was literally...” and made a face and nodded at her, and she made a horrified face but suddenly one of her eyes was cocked to my right, and the other looked right at me and she like leaned in really closely. she didn’t say anything, she just leaned in and looked at me and her eyes got really... like vivid? like not like “oh weird dream eyes” like suddenly they looked REAL and like deep blue which is not what color her eyes are, and i woke up out of nowhere.
fuckin spooked me too, even now remembering those eyes, i feel like they’re real.
so yeah! nuts. if you even bothered to read all this, because again this was mostly for my records, holy shit how did you sit through it, and also what are your thoughts?
