Pas de Deux Chapter 5
Din Djarin x f!reader | 2.9k | fic masterlist | main masterlist | ao3
chapter summary: It's time for the first mixed program of the spring schedule, and so it's finally time to see Din perform.
a/n: Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on the last chapter. Everything still feels pretty shitty but being part of this community does not! See my notes at the end and on the masterlist about reader in this fic and ballet in general. Thank you @katareyoudrilling for being the best beta, as always!!
chapter tags/warnings: gen, ballet terms (see end notes and the masterlist for definitions and videos), a bit more angst (sorry), but we also have fluff
Chapter 5
In stark contrast to that disaster of a rehearsal, your performance in the January program went well. The first night had its usual jitters, but even so, you felt proud of the performance you and the others put on. And Jee had been excited and full of praise, with only a couple of notes about the choreography, which made you more excited for the next performance.
On Friday, though, you had a small costume malfunction, and so you were busy getting stuck with pins and missed Dinâs solo. You heard the music from La BayadĂšre start and cursed â you knew you wouldnât be back in time.
On Saturday, you saw it. You saw him.
You were standing in the wings, huddled with Adrian and a small group of dancers when Dinâs music began. Everyone backstage quieted as soon as the orchestra began. He was wearing a sort-of doublet and white tights that screamed classical ballet. He started in the wings just in front of you and you watched the line of his neck and back as he walked calmly onto the stage.
You knew Talia had chosen three of Solorâs variations from different versions of the ballet. She had Din moving off stage and back on to continue with the three solos that usually appeared at different moments throughout the long performance. Three demanding solos, all in a row.
The music swelled and Din swept his arm upward and, from his first movement, he stole your breath away. Your eyes followed the sheer height of his jumps, the beautiful lines of his extensions. You couldnât help but marvel at the perfection of his technique, the absolute ease of his movements. You watched the flex of his muscles and wondered at his strength. He made everything look effortless. He had such control, but none of that showed â his face was calm, expression serene.Â
You tightened your hold on Adrianâs hand.
Din dipped into the wings and back out for the second variation, and you felt someone next to you suck in a sharp breath when Din launched himself into the air into a double saut de basque in attitude followed by a revoltade. How did he look so weightless?
Talia had been right â this was the perfect way to showcase the absolute phenomenon that was Din Djarin. His strength, his precision, his control, his power, his grace: all of it was on display.Â
In the third variation, you assumed he must have been tired. But he soared through multiple double assemblĂ© turns with such ease, it looked like he was floating.Â
When he fell into his final pose, the audience lost their minds.
You looked at Adrian, and he looked at you, eyebrows high.Â
âThat was insane,â Adrian whispered, and you nodded. âI knew he was good, but oh my god.â
You agreed. And you couldnât help but start to worry, again, about the pas de deux. How were you supposed to partner someone who danced like that?Â
âŠ
You worried over that question so much over the next few days that the words started to feel meaningless in your mind. You found yourself waking up too early, too anxious to sleep. It was only a matter of time before that started to show in your dancing.Â
In class you didnât look at Din. You knew you were letting this grow into something in your mind that it probably wasnât, but you couldnât get a handle on it. Youâd been through this before â moments where all you could see were your own flaws â but none of the tricks youâd learned over the years to claw your way out of it were working this time.
By Thursday, you were so anxious about the entire thing that it must have shown on your face, or in your body. Adrian took one look at you after morning class and pulled you into the smaller, sad break room (with the couch everyone hated) to make you breathe with him until you calmed down.
âLook at me,â he said after youâd taken several deep breaths in unison, squeezing your hand. âYou can do this. One practice isnât enough to make or break anything, you know that. Youâve been there before.â
You nodded, closing your eyes and clutching his hand with both of yours.Â
âHeâs good, weâve all seen it. But so are you.â Adrianâs voice was firm and you tried to believe it, too. âAnd you know Kuiil picked you for a reason. Think about it â Din Djarin has never danced anything remotely like this choreography. On Saturday he was doing what heâs best at, and of course it was freaking amazing. But youâre better at this.â
He was right. You let that truth of it settle somewhere in your chest. You felt at home in more contemporary ballet choreography, and to your knowledge Din had never so much as tried it. Concordia would never even consider it, that much was definitely true.
âYou can do both, you know? I bet that was part of it. Casting someone who could show him how to let go of what he knows. He isnât going to be the only person in that room whoâs an expert on something.â
You took a deep breath and opened your eyes. When you met Adrianâs gaze, he smiled. âThere you are. You ready?â
You nodded. âI can do this.â You couldnât let yourself get in your head like that. You knew better.
âHell yeah, you can. Come on.â He stood and tugged you to your feet, and then grabbed your shoulders. âGo fucking blow him away, ok? I know you can.â He shook you a little, and you laughed.
âOk! Ok. I can do this.â
âŠ
You tried to let that run through your mind like a mantra as you stepped into the small rehearsal studio. You can do this.Â
Kuiil and Din were standing by the sound equipment again. As always, Din was wearing black tights, black sweats cut off at the knees, and a tight, long-sleeve black shirt. You pointedly did not let your eyes linger on the line of his shoulders.
âCome in, my dear. We are going to start with something different today.â
You tried not to wince as Kuiil beckoned you forward, remembering the disaster of the week before.
âToday I will give each of you part of your solo pieces for the start, and I would like you to watch each other as you learn and begin to practice them.â He looked at each of you in turn as you nodded. âI want you to pay attention to each other. How do your bodies move as you learn? How do you come to inhabit the movement? How do you each make it your own?â He gestured between you. âAs you know, after these moments, you will encounter each other on stage for the first time. Think about what that would feel like, as you watch each other today.â
You nodded again, frowning a little as you tried to work out what he wanted from you. To watch, to observe? To notice something new? To watch as if youâd never seen before? You supposed you could only watch and try and see what you found.Â
âLet us begin.â
He started with you. It was only a few counts of 8, a few moments following the wandering path of the violin in the music. What he gave you was very bare bones â you knew, from working with him in the past, that he sometimes wanted you to find your own way to connect things together. Kuiil always wanted his dancers to put themselves into his choreography.
You realized, after he had shown you everything he wanted to, that you hadnât even looked or spared a thought for Din as you focused on the steps and the music. You were feeling better, more confident, focusing on choreography that played to your own strengths as a dancer.
âGood. Now, give it a try with the music a couple of times, and then I will show Din how he will begin. Do not be afraid to try different things as you let the movements settle.â
You nodded and took up the first position heâd shown you, arms extended a bit behind you. He started the music and you moved, finding your way through the moments Kuiil wanted in this brief part of the first movement. You let yourself sink into the music and the choreography, trying to feel it more than think about it. You whipped through turns and flicked your leg, almost smiling when your dĂ©veloppĂ© was timed perfectly to the music. There were moments that felt more awkward, moments you knew youâd need to work on, but overall you felt the weight in your chest lighten as you danced. You can do this.
Kuiil stopped the music just after you found the final position, and you sucked in a deep breath as you relaxed out of it and turned to look at him.Â
âVery well done, my dear. I can see the shape of it forming. One more time, and then we will switch. Try to smooth out that transition into the turn.â You nodded, but your curiosity got the better of you and you darted a glance to Din.
He was watching you intently, which you supposed was only following Kuiilâs directions. But for once his face wasnât expressionless.
Din was smiling. It was a small thing, barely there, but it took your breath away.
âŠ
Adrian was waiting for you after your rehearsal, and for once you were out the door and down the hall before Din.
âSo?â He raised his eyebrows at you as he tucked his arm through yours, leading you down the hall to your rehearsal for the February mixed program. You were both in the same piece, for once, a collaboration between Jee and Vince. âHow did it go?â
You told him all about it, about the way Kuiil had split the time between you. âMaybe he realized we need to get used to each other first? But we didnât really do a lot of that, we didnât even talk to each other much.â
âBut you look like you feel better about it.â
You nodded. âYeah, I mean, I got to do what Iâm good at.â
âHmm.â Adrian looked thoughtful. âI think that makes sense, though. Letting you learn about each otherâs style.â
You shrugged. âWell, maybe. I guess weâll see next time. But Adrian⊠he smiled at me.â
âWho, Kuiil?â
âNo,â you almost whispered, glancing around the hall. âDin.â
Adrianâs jaw dropped as you led him through the door for your second rehearsal. âWhat,â he hissed, but there wasnât time for him to ask you for more details. You put it out of your mind. You had to focus on the dance in front of you, anyway.
You took that motivation forward through your weekend and the next week of rehearsals. You had so many performances coming up â the February mixed program, Midsummer, and then after that, Swan Lake. And another mixed program in April. And Cinderella. You usually didnât let yourself think that far ahead â you had so many rehearsals, and so much physical therapy, that you tried to focus on the next performance and maybe the one after. The ones that were right in front of you.
But it was a helpful distraction, for once, thinking through the rest of your season.Â
You knew Din had joined the Balanchine ballet for the February mixed program, and you knew those rehearsals were heating up. So you barely saw him outside of morning classes, and youâd been trying not to watch him as much. You wondered, a bit, if you should try to talk to him again, but you werenât sure what youâd say. Hey, letâs get to know each other so we can actually dance together?Â
That one smile aside, he was still so closed off you werenât sure how to bring yourself to try.
âŠ
The Thursday of your third rehearsal with Kuiil arrived, and you moved quickly down the hallway, almost running â your rehearsal for Midsummer had gone long and you didnât want to be late.
You turned the corner, moving quickly, and let out an âoomphâ as you almost slammed into someone. You felt strong hands come up to steady you and once again blinked up to find Din looking down at you. His large hands were warm where they rested on your waist.Â
âShit,â you cursed. âDin, sorry, I was ââ you took a deep breath. âSorry. I was running late. Obviously.âÂ
His face was, of course, expressionless once more, but you could have sworn you saw the tiniest lift in the corner of his mouth as he looked at you. âItâs ok. Iâm late, too.â
You smiled at him, hesitant, hoping to find that bit of ease youâd briefly had together before your rehearsals started. âBalanchine?â
He nodded. âBalanchine.â
You stepped back a bit and ignored the way it felt when his hands slid from your waist and brushed over your hips before falling by his sides. âHowâs it going?â
Din fell into step beside you as you started to walk towards the small rehearsal studio where Kuiil would be waiting for you. âGood. They hadnât rehearsed much when I started, so it was easier to step in and join one of the pairs.â
âWho have they paired you with?â Symphony in C featured four principal couples, and many of them had danced together for years at this point.
He nodded, seeming to understand your question. âYuna. They hadnât finalized that pairing yet, so it was easy to step in. And we didnât do a ton of Balanchine at CBC, but Iâve danced the first before.â
That made sense. Yuna had just made principal this year, and had yet to form a strong connection with any of the others. You couldnât imagine them breaking up the pairing of Mira and Diego, for example, or giving Din the adagio in the second movement, when he barely knew anyone yet. And that role, the pair featured in the first movement, was tough. It was perfect for him.
âYunaâs great. Sheâs so good at partnering, too.â You could almost see Taliaâs vision for them, in your mind â she and Din would dance beautifully together.
Youâd arrived at your studio, but before you could step inside, Din said, âshe said the same thing about you.â
You froze as Din moved past you into the studio. He had talked about you? With someone else? You stepped inside, in a bit of a daze, as you tried not to wonder what theyâd talked about.
Later, during rehearsal, you clung to that positive moment in your mind, because it felt like the first rehearsal all over again. Kuill had you both run through the sections heâd shown you the week before and then returned to the moment you met on stage for the first time. But you could tell from the start that it hadnât gotten better.
Somehow, it had gotten worse.
Youâd lost count of how many times youâd tried it so far, but you took a deep breath as the music started. You started your pass across the floor, leaping into an attitude before rolling out of it. You were supposed to stand and find Din in front of you, except he wasnât where you expected him to be, so it didnât quite work. And then the moment passed.Â
No matter how hard you tried, you and Din couldnât seem to find each other at all, throughout the rehearsal. You had no idea why you couldnât seem to connect with him. Were you feeling the music differently? He felt so distant from you, even standing only a few feet away. Your movements felt separate, like you were on two separate stages, rather than sharing one space together.Â
You could feel the frustration begin to build from the base of your spine. You didnât understand how you could have such an easy conversation with him in the hall and then hit this wall inside the studio, where it should have been easier to connect with him. It had never been this difficult for you to get to know another dancer before.
âAlright.â Kuiil stopped the music and you tried not to read into his tone. âThat is enough for today. I know you have the mixed program this weekend. Focus on that, clear your minds, and next week we begin again.â
As you started to leave, feeling defeated, Kuiil called you back. You turned and saw Din hurry out the door in the mirror. You caught a glimpse of his expression as he did and realized he was frowning. Your own mouth turned down in response.Â
âMy dear, I can see that you are frustrated.â You nodded. As heâd said before, your body couldnât lie. âI want you to think about something before our next practice. How did you learn to connect with other dancers on stage?â
You thought about it for a moment. âThrough movement, I suppose. And interpreting the choreography together.â
Kuiil nodded. âHow is it different, when you are performing different styles?â
You blinked. You suddenly understood where he was leading you. âIn classical pieces, itâs more pre-defined. Itâs constrained. The connection, I mean. And how we are able to express it.â
He nodded again. âThink about that, as you rehearse this week. And we will try again.â

a/n: so đ how do you think the next one will go đđ©°
Solor - this is a very difficult, technical role in a famous classical ballet, La BayadĂšre! Hereâs a really long video of an almost complete performance by Sergei Polunin. The exact number of variations/solos that Solor has can vary by production but there could be as many as three, one per act, and I decided to make Din do all of them. Hereâs one, two (and another one, and another, and another), and three with the double assembles. You may have noticed that the second variation can have a lot of different jumps in it â I stole the idea for the double saut de basque and revoltades (and another) from a couple places. I know I saw someone doing the double saut de basque in attitude where most of these men are doing a double saut de basque en dedans (both are in that video) but now I canât find it.
Symphony in C - a very NYC Ballet piece choreographed by George Balanchine. Itâs basically 100% focused on technique and itâs hard!! There are four principal couples featured in four movements. Din joins the first couple. Reader also mentioned the third. This is the sort of performance CBC would have been less likely to do, but itâs so technical and classical they would have added it to their repertoire to broaden it without moving from their classical stance. Hereâs a recording of the whole thing from 1973.
Classical ballet - Iâve mentioned this before, but now Iâll say that not everyone would interpret classical ballet the same way. Dinâs previous company was on the more strict end of the spectrum. Weâll learn more soon!
I know I've mentioned attitude before, but this time we also see a développé!

On the surface, it will seem that Karina is calm and harmless, but in fact she is short-tempered and cruel, especially in her methods of unleashing the language of hostages during interrogation. At first, she waits patiently, but the vase of her angelic patience immediately cracks and uses force. She loves to be sarcastic, especially Makarova, and even makes fun of him, she likes his ardor.
Fears - It's hard to say
Biography
Life in the 90s was quite difficult for many people, especially when banditry, theft, robbery, and murder flourished. Karina, one might say, lived in a real hell, in an immoral family, where noisy drunkenness periodically took place, there were fights. Karina does not have a father, her mother found a life partner when the girl was still little. But the one his mother chose was not the one he pretended to be, Instead of a "kind daddy", he showed a cruel man, and his upbringing was beatings, and Karina had a hard time, like her mother, but she believed that she was within the norm, but it affected Karina's emotional state. Due to the turmoil in the family and the lack of money for food, Karina had to work part-time to earn at least some penny, from which she slipped in her studies, graduated from school with grief in half, but then she had to work part-time, and everything in her life turned upside down. One day, unable to bear the anger of her stepfather and the next beatings, Karina took a knife in order to scare, protecting herself and her mother. She was scared at the time, which led to a state of passion, and inflicted a fatal blow on the man, which led to imprisonment for a certain period. The mother did not somehow defend Karina, having been surprised that her daughter was a murderer. Until 2016, Karina became a mercenary.
The meeting with Makarov is rather vague story. Karina decided to try to join his people as a volunteer, even if it was risky, at that moment Makarov needed people. Karina has been training for a long time, on an equal footing with others, and she also trained dogs, making them fighting dogs. Karina also has a four-legged companion, Doberman Fang, the same fighting dog, as well as a guard who always accompanies his mistress. The girl also provided assistance to the ultranationalists by supplying weapons, medicines, equipment, etc. Makarov, although he trembled with her arrogance and barbs, but appreciated her effectiveness in her work, allocated her a small detachment in which she became the leader, and the "Black Widow Squad", a shorter name "Spiders", appeared. They stayed in different parts of the world, Karina had to hide and work in the shadows, because loyalists followed her, which did not always make it possible to deliver a kind of "goods" to Makarov on time. As for her relationship with Vladimir, they are more professional than amorous. She continued to act unflinchingly, as if ignoring all the cold stares and sarcastic remarks, which only increased his irritation. In those rare moments when they were on the same wavelength, a spark of mutual understanding almost ignited the steppe of tension in which they were both immersed. As time passed, and as if in a dance of fate, they began to dance on the edge of a professional relationship, where each step could easily end in collapse or unexpected harmony.

ah ah ah... im not hiding behind anonymity... im speaking my TRUTH!
i would absolutely love a dylric agere stimboard with cg!eric and agere!dylan đ„Čđ„Č maybe even with headcanons sprinkled in... as a treat!
tyty moot.. ah ah ah...!
caregiver!eric + little!dylan stimboard
YOURE SUCH A REAL ONE!!!!
i love the yn stuff but i LOVELOVELOVE when its my boys together and i TOTALLY see this
this is a very obvious thing, but i wanna say it anyway, they both definitely keep this sort of thing VERY private between each other and are both embarrassed about it.
eric likes taking care of dylan and dylan likes being taken care of by eric so they both get over it.
i think dylan would definitely draw/doodle random shit in their journals (i know this was a thing already of course but i mean more normal things) and eric would let him draw on his stuff as well.
when they sit together i think dylan would fidget with erics watch. like. hed have his arm laid out in front of him while he messes with it. hed also probably trace over whatever marks he has on his arms.
dylan definitely would watch eric play doom or whatever while he sits next to him - sometimes playing himself, not being particularly good when hes in that headspace, but eric would still tell him hes doing good either way.
a really small thing, but i also like to think about eric ruffling dylans hair and just really like his hair in general.
they also totally fall asleep in bed together and dylan would have his head on erics chest while eric has his arms over him. its a little awkward because of their height difference but they make it work.
the dog theme is bcuz i see dylan as a big dog hehe
cant wait for the haters to come for this one

Shadowheart in heavy armour send post
You are so right, anon.
Just so very right.
However, in the interest of fairness, I must implore you to consider: Shadowheart in leather/padded armor. (Also, have a quick shot of Asheera in leather armor as well to match the Blades in the Night look)
And need I talk about how good the epilogue clothes look? I think not.
#hey you can ask me things!#shadowheart#oc: asheera#the height difference in-game isn't quite right but it still looks good so here we are#also this reminds me that I need to get around to modding Asheera's hair#bbygirl needs the right braid

What are your thoughts on Yuma x Vivia? I seem to be in the minority cause Vivia's mostly shipped with Yakou, but I personally see Yakou as more of a father figure to Vivia. Also amazing art as always.
short answer: they mean da world 2 me đ
#rain code#kokolight#ask draw#long answer> UHHH chapter 4 is so good for many reasons. ch 4 really helps jumpstart them as a duo/pair and ESPECIALLY#as character foils. one example being their opposite views of what it means to fight for the truth as detectives#vivia wanting to believe in a safe lie vs yuma wanting to find the cold hard truth#and with vivia finally wanting to aid yuma in the mystery labyrinth despite the harsh truth bc yuma helped HIM#with finally understanding his role as a detective. and having to come to terms with facing the truth even if it's hard and sucks :(#PLUS THE GUMSHOE GABS AND THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE obvs#'guy who's a bit short x guy who's too fukcing long' lmao#vivia twilight#yuma kokohead#mdarc#master detective archives: rain code#ari art#i actually have a bigger kokolight post ive been itching to draw so look out for that too eventually âđŒ#AND TY ANON!! i can also see yakou as a father figure but with yuma mostly lol#or at least the older cousin you know that's kinda wierd but you still like hanging out with them :) that's what yakou can be#to the NDA gang LMAO

if you draw enough monster ocs, when you go back to drawing a human character, it feels like "sameface syndrome" everytime, by virtue of their face being. human.
#toy txt post#or maybe i am just sameface syndrome#but also different face syndrome#two characters will have the same face but then the next time i draw those characters its a different face than they had last time!#i know part of it is being out of practice but also there is definitely an element of feeling constrained by human facial structure lmao#the monsters have Their Own Problems but like. no one has a face like bokrae no matter how inconsistent i am about drawing her#her features are iconic enough to her that you can tell everytime#birdie???? i faceclaimed eartha kitt for her and im still struggling cos i feel weird about faceclaiming as a concept#but even then đ one time i was trying to give headloose a face and someone was like wow he looks like birdie!#me đđđđđ what!!!!!! hes not supposed to!!!!!!!!!!!!!#i need to practice. features#you know the worst part about coming up w a bunch of fuckin Scenarios in my brain for ocs is that i have even fucking Drawn them yet#to give them like. iconic staple features and figure out what their faces look like. which feels like it would really help to have that#knowledge and muscle memory before i jump into trying to draw intense scenes with difficult poses!!#not to mention. listen. i can do the monster faces. somewhat. the bodies??????????? well for one. theyre too big everytime#im convinced i could be trying to draw bokrae on like a full ass wall size paper like a mural thing and run out of room. it just keeps#happening. i have no sense of scale for them either. by which i mean i struggle w scale already and also cant decide what i want it to be#and ive tried to handwave it away by being like ohhh uh. birdie casts spells on them to change their sizes for convenience but also#no. perhaps that explanation works for other ppl. @ myself tho its not good enough i Know Better!!!!!!#agh!!!!!!! i really need to figure out bokrae's Teeth also. like i dont. i coukd get away with it. but i should. and i want to.#anyway all this to say that i need to give these characters faces and body designs (actually the body designs for humanoid ocs is the easy#part. the faces are whats stumping me? well. i need more practice w all the body types again but like i Know what im Going For at least.#for the most part anyway. havent fully figured out heights. struggling w characters that i want to make short but give imposing tall energy#on occasion? birdie can be short all day long no problem. I want Alasdair to be short enough that he has a bunch of short boyfriends that#feel tall around him? bytte was going to be like 6ft max but then i thought about making her taller and like. what if i made her taller#headloose is not that /short/ but he is Not Tall and prolly pretty lean? twink build for sure#and of course all these short /tall distinctions come with a bias of relativity to my own height which i categorize as medium height#but short ppl call me tall and insist its not average and tall ppl call me short. (5'6) and then i have to factor in how the gender changes#the dynamic of a height like my height is Short For A Man but medium to tall for a Woman. which id argue is medium height bc mens heights#are socially held to high standards (hehe) and also i know ethnicity/race is also a factor? but im out of tags. rip. bye

Les's size is as consistent as that of the bug from Kafka's Metamorphosis jsjfjfhdhxhdh
I noticed that I draw him bigger when he's sitting or laying down, dunno why, but I guess I subconsciously want to make him bigger and when I don't draw him standing next to someone I don't really notice his size as much.
#I also drew Hed's and Gleena's bodies smaller than I usually do#I usually make the head to body proportions les extreme than they are in canon#*less extreme#(lol my keyboard noticed I use les more than less)#the reference I made of hed les and ish is still a good one in regards to their height difference#trolls#answered#ex bandmates

The wildest thing about getting to take a photo with Tom is that it didn't feel quite real, like he wasn't a real person standing there in front of me that I was about to be right next to. I partially attribute that to how fast the line was going, but even if I had a bit more time to process, I surely would have felt the same: that a man whose life, basically, I had been following since 2013, was in the same room as me and I was mere feet away.
I was lightheaded in the moments prior to the photo, although whether due to being hungry and needed water or overwhelmed suddenly despite not feeling it before (and thrown off by the girl in front of me trying to hold a brief conversation and the crew trying to escort her away), I'm not sure. I do wonder how Tom feels about the whole thing, about how fast it went.
We greeted each other, I got to shake his hand (his hand really is big, much larger than I expected, yet when he shook mine, it didn't feel overwhelming, and he didn't crush me), he put his arm behind me and mine behind him (his coat was quite soft; my mom speculated it's a nice/fancy wool), we smiled, FLASH, I thanked him (I can't recall if he thanked me), and off I went.
While fast, definitely 100% worth it. I've never had the chance to go anywhere else he's been due to time and money, but this time, the stars aligned.
I was lucky enough to have enough income to be able to do that plus get better seating for the live show, which was also definitely worth it; I wasn't as close as I would have liked, but better than higher upâand the general seating filled up really fast, so much so that when it got delayed due to autographs (I get the sense they overbooked him, because he had to go BACK after it was done), they told us not to leave the theatre because so many people couldn't get in.
Anyway, I absolutely loved being able to hear him talk in person, and he told pretty much all new stories this time! At least, new to me, but I'm pretty sure most of them had not been told before, probably because the audience got to ask the questions (using a Google forms from the week before that was only open for twenty-four hours AND I MISSEDâand they had apparently 84 questions?? Surely they could have left that open longer, then).
I really hope I get the opportunity to see him in person again in some form or fashion; i.e. I'd probably do an autograph, or if he's got enough live event, just pay for good seating for that. I don't know if I'll get so lucky a second time, and I will definitely cherish this for a long while.
#tom is probably one of the few people I'd pay this much money to see/interact with#aside from burt reynolds this is probably the highest caliber celebrity I've interacted with/been near#I don't know if tom wopat counts and im probably forgetting someone who isn't a singer from the 60s (peter noone)#megacon#megacon orlando#tom hiddleston#loki#we interrupt your regularly scheduled reblogging from 5 years ago for something completely unexpected#i will probably write this down in my journal but i reaaaalllly wanted to put this out there#idk if it'll go in the tag though lol whatever im not looking for a bunch of notes or anything#also despite tom being 6'2â he didnt seem quite as tall as i expected and i attribute that to the fact#that i have a coworker who's six foot that ive been working with for 4 years come summer#so ive gotten used to it haha but he definitely was still tall#also i was wearing books with a bit of a heel so that took the edge off the height difference#*boots not books im not sure how i missed that#also also. his weekend look was much better than his friday look. also he looked very good in person đđ#it's strange now looking at old photos of him with his real hair and stubble and having a sort of cognitive dissonance#between that and what i saw yesterday đ#my stuff

Outfit swap between Akira and Yuko Nishikiyama (props to @saniremon for the doodle idea) to get an idea of how the two look + their differences, plus some design notes for my own sake but also anyone else who's curious. Yes Yuko still has that work outfit because I couldn't think of anything better.
Unclothed ref below the cut
#akira nishikiyama#yuko nishikiyama#yuko lives au#smol makes art#yes Yuko has a mole beneath her eye now because why not. there's not much of a height difference between them all things considered#idk i want it to be like she's slightly gaunter and paler than her brother because of years growing up with poor health and hospitalization#but she's of course gotten fitter and healthier since her surgery but yknow. there's still physical signs of her less than stellar health#keeping that dumbass bulky suit so it's easier for her to disguise herself as him plus heels and makeup over the mole and no one will know#also be proud of me i drew a six pack! does it look good? does he look good? i hope so

This is really weird but like hello hi I like games that let you make a protag design then let you design someone else to be like. Your follower/ally. And you can make em different heights. I feel the need EVERY TIME to make a tiny protag and a tall secondary character.
I also am so weak for the secondary being non-human, too. Please let me love my weird companions.
#freedom wars#this is outta nowhere supposedly but like lmao i tried a different game and i was just reminded of fw#and im like dang i really liked my sinner who got the title accessory-obsessive and never changed it#weird fact of while i prefer to be called salmon myself very much so??#i named my sinner in fw something different then named my accessory salmon#he was the love of my life#i still love him tbh#he hates me for spending my life running around not fighting abductors bc im too busy gathering#its true i drew a comic for it ages ago#im a useless wittle fella#my wonderful prison warden beloved salmon hello i love you all these years later#its like in dd:da where you have the arisen and pawn#there is something deep in me that has a profound love for my pawn my beloved weird humanoid pal#listen i just like having tiny trouble makers and tall rule abiders who are very done with my antics#bc tbh i suck at games i am so bad at playing games if my life depended on being good at games i would die#theres also a secret third game that i am very much not mentioning out of shame that i started last night where you can do this#and my only complaint is i made the mc a guy and the other guy a guy and i feel so sad#that the height gap isnt as big as it was in fw and ddda#im not gremlin enough in the secret third game

No real thoughts on the new salmon run stage except for that its at least Decent; marooners bay continues to be the worst salmon run map ever yippee
#chattin#actually i do have thoughts but i need to get to a higher hazard level to really see how good or bad it is#its easy to juke salmonids but its very Big and Wide#so multiple stingers and flyfish coordinating on different shorelines is Hell#the ink trails are janky if ur not used to them but theyre VERY good. it gives u lots of height when jumping so u can get on top of ufos#pathing seems to be a little mean sometimes; i was running away from a scrapper#and jumped to the center basket area#and then fell down maybe 4 seconds later and it was STILL there and i died#so far alot of my deaths are just falling into a swarm below bc theyre not pathing correctly#uhh#flyfish sticks arent really a threat; they like to go in the water and next to elevated spots but im sure it would be hell w inkbrush#i have NOT gotten glowflies or grillers but this map is evil#im sure youll need to use the inktrails to avoid them#ALSO cohock charge is mean bc the cannons are centered; not placed in the back#so my strategy of âstay by the shore to distract maws from cannon friendsâ doesnt work. bc ur surrounded#but like so far the map seems nice :) lots of ways to juke salmonids and lure bosses#the sheer amount of tiny ledges makes it really nice#like i said; ive only died to falling in a swarm i didnt think was there#but otherwise its a breeze getting to and from the shore and juggling eggs#well see what happens when i get bad weapons#OH YEAH. the douse dualies are insane#decent damage and GREAT range#like dualie squelchers on crack#and the dapple dualie fire rate after a roll is incredible#OH I LIED. i have died in other ways. specifically by misjudging how FAR the dodge roll takes u#i fell into water like 4 times bc of it đ
