Stop Trying To Defeat Racism With Logic

There's a black samurai in the new Assassin's Creed game, and it has made some people mad. You simply don't have to argue about it.

The new Assassin’s Creed game is set in feudal Japan, which is cool. It stars what appears to be a female ninja and a black samurai based on the historical figure Yasuke, which is also cool. Anyone who tries to argue about whether or not that’s cool is just not worth your time. In case you haven’t been paying attention for the last ten or twenty years, video game culture tends to be a repository for the most tedious people on Earth. You know the type—these are the kinds of people who don’t consider mobile games to be “real games,” or who harass women who use their mics in online multiplayer games, or who argue about “historical accuracy” in a video game that has dragons or elves in it. These kinds of people show up in a lot of nerdy hobbies, like tabletop gaming or whatever it is people do on Letterboxd or even enjoying Greek and Roman history. From the moment that the key art for Assassin’s Creed Shadows depicted a black man in samurai garb, I knew that this particular brand of person was going to get ripshit mad. Just look at the replies to this tweet. It’s absolute nonsense in there.  The most amusing replies are the ones that take into question the, of course, historical accuracy of this character. It may be tempting to try to argue with these people, for a lot of reasons, most of all that history and facts are on your side. This character appears to be based on Yasuke, a real guy who actually existed in the historical record. He was an African retainer for warlord Oda Nobunaga, meaning that he was indeed a samurai. Yasuke is a well known enough figure that he’s the subject of a Netflix anime that is named after him. He’s also a character in Nioh, which was developed by the Japanese studio Team Ninja. You can repeat those facts until you’re blue in the face to people who are determined to be angry about a black man having a leading role in this game, but it won’t matter. You should just save your breath and look forward to seeing whether or not Ubisoft fumbles this very easy layup. Racism isn’t a logical position, so you cannot defeat it with logic. Facts just don’t matter to a racist, especially not the tedious kind of racist who makes their home in video game culture. There will always be a new hair to split, a new way for this kind of person to object to a black man being in this video game. You can bring up the other fantabulous aspects of the Assassin’s Creed franchise that clash with history: the existence of the titular Creed and the Knights Templar; whatever the fuck was going on with the Apples of Eden; the series’ depiction of Karl Marx as a devotee of democracy rather than advocating for an armed revolution of the proletariat. It does not matter because the people who are mad about this have already made up their mind.  To them, Japan is a place that does not and has never had black people live there or make their homes there at any point in time—especially in history. The anger about “historical accuracy” is just a slightly more reasonable smokescreen for their real objection: having to see a black person at all. Unfortunately, blackness and black people have always been inescapable, both now and in the past. I’m not going anywhere, and I won’t be dragged into an argument about the value of my very existence.

who can actually handle hisoka in the instance of a 1v1 in the phantom troupe.

hisoka knows the abilities of 7-8 members of the troupe by the time they part ways in yorknew city. four of which are already dead so he knows at least 4 more. information to hisoka is basically like an instant win unless you discombobulate him enough with overcomplicated strategy like Chrollo did.

the only four safe from hisoka's intel are: Bonolenov, Nobunaga*, Kalluto, Feitan.

*Nobunaga is a question mark because we dont know if he has a fully realized hatsu or not. and if he does we dont know if hisoka knows about it or not.

so in order:

Chrollo: YES, I think Chrollo is in more than a good enough position to kill hisoka for a second time. with Contagian running wild and so many assorted nen abilities to choose from, he technically has enough bandwidth to limitless nen abilities. will he do so while hunting for hisoka? that depends on if he gets in contact with team phinks or not. but i think he has a good shot of a round two.

Nobunaga: MAYBE, i think nobunaga is the only one in possession of an ability to cut bungee gum, but i only say that because we've never actually seen anything attempt to cut bungee gum. if he can't then he's most likely fucked XD. this also depends on if he has a hatsu or not because as it stands right now, he's very much not ready for this fight.

Feitan: YES, i think its very likely at least. it's not gray enough to be a maybe, but it's leaning towards the very likely. he just has to endure at least one blow from hisoka and its basically over. but even base feitan has a good shot. he has several tricks in his funky lil umbrella that i doubt hisoka knows about and a lot of speed. on top of all that. there are higher forms of pain packer that hisoka is more than capable of unleashing if he decides to play with his food.

Machi: MAYBE, this one i cant be sure about. hisoka is aware of machi's abilities just as much as she is aware of his. It'll come down to what each has prepared for the other and their respective reaction times. personally im rooting for machi in this fight but who knows.

Kalluto: NO, as he is right now, that's a no if hisoka genuinely tried to kill him. he has a get out of jail free card with Illumi being on the team, but with the way hisoka is right now who knows how much value that has.

Phinks: MAYBE, hisoka knows about kaiten, which is a huge disadvantage for phinks. however, phinks can easily get on par with blows equal to uvo if he has enough set up time. which he may or may not get in this hypothetical. hisoka might just straight up rip his arm off which- who knows if that will actually stop him- is Not Good(tm)

Shalnark: YES, honorable mention because i will not let him go. im coping so hard. Autopilot shal has a good shot, it just might end up with both of them dead instead of just one.

Franklin: NO, with his current set up no. unfortunately guns and long range aren't a good counter to hisoka unless theyve got a hell of a lot of power behind it

Shizuku: NO, shizuku herself said it, i dont gotta say shit. but also yes, she'd have to use gyo through the entire fight just to make sure she isn't grabbed and she'd be stuck on the defensive. Unless he bleeds, then she can stay at maximum range and vampire drain him. but he has a hard counter to that so yeah shizuku solo is very much fucked.

Bonolenov: YES, i disagree with bono on his self analysis. Battle Cantabile is a nen ability i haven't talked about much because it's 100% speculation on my end. but as a music nerd i just have to put this here: i think jupiter is part of a suite.* Therefore, i think bono has seven planets at his disposal and i will elaborate more in another post. that and hisoka doesn't know about his abilities, so he has extra upper hand.

*suite being a form of music composure of multiple movements, usually led with a prologue

thats my two cents anyway. in the situation they're in right now, its impossible to tell who would win purely because of the number of eyes on any number of them, therefore a fair 1v1 is out of the question.

So, I have some thoughts about Book 7

From what we saw from the attitude of Malleus's mom Malenor, the attitude of the Senate, and what we've seen from what Lilla-sama said about the Briar Valley, it seems like Briar Valley is REALLY on it's last breath as a country. No wonder it became a Valley and not a country. Like 10 seconds from crashing down. And the systems are COMPLETELY FU*KED UP. As a country, It's really FU*KED UP, and two steps away from becoming toast. It's so bad that I really believe even Leona would refuse to be born as a first son of a prince with this state.

Lilia-sama was right about Henryk, despite him being a big dick as a person and a total jerk, you have to admit he is a really capable person when it comes to military and conducting an army. He provides strategies, controls his subordinates, and is really smart when it comes to controlling his cards. The machines the Silver Owls use does destroy the environment but puts a big advantage in battle. Henrik reminds me of Nobunaga Oda and the way he used pistols to defeat Shingen Takeda's horse armies which were considered to be undefeatable at the Sengoku period.

On the other hand, Mallenor is a powerful sorceress and a dragon. But she just competed with her powers. No tactics whatsoever. Part of it due to her pride as a dragon and looking down on humans. We can't deny that. Moral values of the fairies.

Silver's dad, the knight of dawn was so powerful that even Lillia-sama admitted it. It's really stupid to go out there with no hidden tricks or backup help or tactics. Also, Lilia-sama said something about putting pranks on the wand of the Queen Maleficia, and Lilia-sama getting scolded instead of Malenor. She is a princess, but we haven't heard about Malleus's grandma scolding her daughter or anything. Seems to be that there was a HUGE problem with education of the royal family. Malleus grew up as kind(fae-standards) due to Lilia-sama, and the presence of Silver and Sebek, and changing through the meeting with Prefect and finally having a friend who won't fear him and treat him as a equal friend, not a monster. From what Malenor said about Malleus being the leading star of the fairies and a dark star for humans to be afraid, I really doubt about "Equal friendship human Get along with other people" element coming into the education of Malleus if she was alive. Her moral values are ANCIENT but that couldn't be helped. Her husband is gone, the Senate are all bunch of dried up old farts with a dick personality and no use. At least Henrik was a capable man when it came to the army department and you can understand the human values of the past and why so many humans gathered at Henrik's army due to fear.

Lilia-sama said that the life of Malleus will be difficult due to him being a fairy through and through and living with human evolution. The moral values need to be changed in order for Briar Valley to be a country and live, now the precious resources and elements already gone and one step away from the environment biting the dust.

Also, the education of "Fairies are better than humans, we can crush them like ants, pure blood dragonia family is the best, we must worship them etc." might be taught to the children of the Briar Valley looking at the attitude of Sebek at first. And the senate was all about pure blood and Lilia-sama being a nasty bat, praising how Malenor fought and died and looking down on humans like gerbils. WHEN HENRIK AND THE SLIVER OWLS ARE STILL THERE AND DWELDING AND KILLED THEIR PRINCESS FOR PETE'S SAKES! HELLO!? And both Lilia-sama and the Senate are arguing about quitting the right general of the army? The most powerful fairy in the country now that Malenor is gone? When Henrik's army could ruin the land the civilian fairies live within the drop of the hat? Purely ridiculous.

Also, we have to talk about Sebek's dad. A dentist. From what Sebek said about him, he was heavily valued due to lack of health care institutions in the place where Sebek's family lived. That tells a WHOLE LOT OF STUFF about the health care systems of Briar Valley. Also, the other lands that was introduced in the world of Twisted Wonderland had a symbol of industrialization that brings in the money into it's economy and the people. For Leona, the natural energy resources that were not dug up and buried under the vast lands. That could be the start. Shaft lands are famous for sightseeing and jeweled pineapples and etc. But Briar Valley doesn't have any of that, I think the reason being "Interacting with humans and doing business and trade!? The though itself is preposterous etc. "

I'm sure there are other points I missed out. I mean, Briar Valley has a lot to fix up. Malleus needs to kick out the Senate first when he is crowned king and change the moral values and education of his country. That fairies and humans need to live together with other species instead of fearing the other. The ancient values of fairy supremacy are not going to work anymore.

Also, Malenor putting Lilia-sama in charge of making Malleus come out from his egg is part of the whole reason that caused Malleus to overblot. A big part of it is Lilia-sama dropping out due to magic loss from NRC and Prefect going back to their world. I doubt that Malenor did not know what the senate would say about Lilia-sama even though this is Lilia-sama's dream and his POV, which may be a little more dramatic than what really happened in the past. But Malenor should have at least prepared a strategy or listened to Lilia-sama. Even though she said because I'm a mom, I will go, but that doesn't justify the fact that she threw most of the problems in the land of Briar into Lilia-sama and caused Malleus to not come out of his egg for more than 200 years. I mean come on!!!!! From the attitude of the Senate, she should have prepared one good excuse like an offical paper even though I doubt it will work. And Lilia-sama is her subordinate, so he really can't talk back to the Senate in general! Part of the reason that Malenor bite the dust was the moral values of the fairies and the brainwashing, but her pride got in the way, no denial. And look at Malleus's reaction! He is upset that he wasn't told! Did Malenor really wanted her son to act up like this? Like I said, the segregation and the land problems and a ton of others were thrown into Lilia-sama and Grandpa-bolt and the others hands.

You were clearly excited about this, which made Nobunaga curious about what this ‘Star Wars’ thing was about. He was definitely intrigued by the concept of a battle in the stars.

Imagine his awe at discovering what space is and seeing the battle scenes. Which would make Nobunaga want to own a spaceship.

Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

Hideyoshi was genuinely confused as to the chronological order of the movies, which led to Sasuke having to explain to him that this way was easier to understand the story.

Just imagine Hideyoshi thinking that, in this universe, Nobunaga would the the Anakin. He truly admires his lord. Though he thinks that the violence in these movies is too much for you, you are too young to be watching it.

Ieyasu Tokugawa.

Ieyasu though that there were way too many movies and episodes to Star Wars, though the different species from different planets did fascinate him.

He doesn’t like the flashing lights though. You might tease him about being an old man for it, which will make Ieyasu glare at you.

Masamune Date.

Masamune was excited when he saw the light sabers, liking how they could melt and burn anything. He even considered how cool it would be to use one during battle.

Needless to say that he would join MC and Sasuke during their pretend battle with light saber toys. Being his little sister will be no excuse for him to take it easy on you.

Mitsuhide Akechi.

Mitsuhide will enjoy the series, though there is a lot of information to take in, all of which Mitsuhide found intriguing.

Both you and Sasuke agree that, if Mitsuhide existed in the Star Wars universe, he would mix between the forces of good and evil. Of course, his interests would lie with the forces of good.

Mitsunari Ishida.

Mitsunari was glued to the screen, finding everything fascinating. You could say that he was quickly becoming a fan of it. What most fascinated him was the vast amount of different creatures.

Needless to say that he would be asking questions every now and then since some concepts were unknown to them. It was funny to you since Mitsunari really seemed like an old man.

Ranmaru Mori.

Ranmaru would sometimes get spooked by the movies, since sometimes it would get dark. But overall he was fascinated by the vast world in it.

He wouldn’t like to be in a spaceship or have light sabers like the other warlords, though. Those things frightened him. He will also be concerned as to why someone so young like you watched this movie series.

Keiji.

Keiji is part of the warlords that would get pretty excited about story of the movies, it had a rich story and world building, something he never seen before.

He would, just like Masamune, pretend to play with the others with fake light sabers. Keiji will tease you about being too much of a brat to watch this trilogy.

Uesugi-Takeda alliance.

Kenshin Uesugi.

Kenshin is a bit of a… dangerous man to show this movie trilogy. If he can make a whole mafia group obey him upon arriving to the modern era, just imagine how dangerous he would be inside the Star Wars universe? Of course, you are just showing him the movie, but Kenshin would definitely get excited about light sabers and such.

You and Sasuke get a bit scared of Kenshin’s grin when a fight scene appears.

Shingen Takeda.

Shingen will certainly find the story and universe unique and fascinating, being drawn into the movies. He was constantly cheering for the forces of good to prevail, while comparing the forces of evil with Nobunaga.

He genuinely wondered if he could build some of the fascinating structures seen in the movies, the answer was no. Every time a violent scene appears, shingen will put his hand over your eyes. He can’t let his young sister to see such horrific scenes.

Yukimura Sanada.

Yukimura is certain to like the movie trilogy. At first, everything confused him, but he grew to enjoy it a lot. The fight scenes made him excited as they looked cool, Sasuke was definitely very happy that his bestie shared interests with him. You will be happy that your big brother also likes something you enjoy.

Yoshimoto Imagawa.

Yoshimoto wasn’t much of a fan, though he will find the different outfits interesting. If it were up to him, he could make them more beautiful. And he had to admit, the different sceneries from different planets captivated him.

Another thing he liked was the possibility of traveling while being surrounded by stars. He might use you as a model, he just loves spoiling his young sister with new outfits.

Sasuke.

It is pretty obvious that Sasuke has already seen and likes Star Wars, but he will watch it all over again if it means he can show all the warlords. You both organized it so that they could watch it.

Kanetsugu.

It will take some convincing to get Kanetsugu to watch Star Wars with you, like doing the puppy eyes. Forced, Kanetsugu will watch the movies with you, and will get very intrigued by it.

Lone forces.

Kennyo.

You insisted that Kennyo would watch it with you, to which he was apprehensive. But he couldn’t say no to his little sister, so he eventually agrees. Kennyo finds it all overwhelming but fascinating. Specially the different life forms that live in each planet.

You might end up comparing him with Yoda, which will make Kennyo confused as he does not speak with sentences out of order.

Kichou.

By chance, Kichou already knew about the movie series, but he only knew so much. Which is why you introduced the whole trilogy for him to see. He won’t be too interested in it, but will watch the whole thing to make his little sister happy.

Motonari Mouri.

Motonari won’t want to watch it at first, but then will get excited to watch everything about it. He definitely liked many concepts that Star Wars had, specially the possibility of traveling not just to different countries but planets.

With an action-packed premiere, the second episode is more of a slower paced one as it helps Sakura and the viewers be introduced to the town and Furin High School with the help of newly introduced Akihiko Nirei who isn’t much of a fighter but more of an information broker in a way. Will Sakura be able to fit into the town and the school?

Sakura still isn’t used to the friendliness of the town as he gets used as a horse by a granny and the other townsfolk give him presents as thanks for protecting the town yesterday. Sakura does take all of their gifts as he’s a sucker for compliments but he then loses them when a girl comes up to him for help. The post-credit skit reveals that he actually picked them back up and ate them. He’s a good boy at heart.

When he stops by Cafe Porthos, which is Kotoha’s cafe and the cafe the granny he was helping out wanted to go, Kotoha gives him breakfast, which is a fancy egg sandwich with fruits and this is where he meets Nirei, who barges in with a fancy shirt underneath his uniform and starts being a bit nosy as he asks Sakura if his white hair comes from stress. I was laughing when he mentioned that.

My impression of Nirei is that he’s definitely going to be the brain to Sakura’s brawn, but  with a unique twist that both of them share a braincell. I do like that he’s practically Sakura’s guide to the town and that he’s a huge klutz as he’s always tripping and colliding into something. I feel you, Nirei. I collide into things all the time. While he’s a motor mouth, I find Nirei cute! He’s not as cute as Sakura, but he has his moments! I do like that while he sucks at fighting, he still has guts to protect someone from gangsters. I just hope he won’t be a liability going forth. The last thing we need is the constant distressed person for Sakura to save.

Nirei’s voice actor is Shoya Chiba. I’ve seen his name pop up in different animes. I’m most familiar with his role as Sing Su Ling from Banana Fish and he was also in Blue Lock as Imamura. I do like that the anime does cast well-known names and rising stars to bring in their fans and get fans of the original source hyped up for a splendid voice cast.

Fuurin High School is quite a wacky school. The students in Sakura class are also very interesting. One standout face is a rather beautiful boy with an eyepatch and tassel earrings named Hayato Suo. He teases Sakura by introducing himself as Leonardo Dicaprio. The fact that Sakura falls for it and believes he’s from overseas before Suo corrects himself was hilarious. He’s surprisingly a jokester, which actually makes him a lot harder to read. Is he hiding something? He’s definitely that one character who is flighty but has a sad past.

His voice actor is Nobunaga Shimazaki. I really like Shimazaki’s voice and he shows off his range from voicing the lethargic Nagi from Blue Lock to flighty Suo. I feel like Shimazaki isn’t particularly typecasted because he has versatility. Like, you both expect and not expect him to voice a character like Suo? Like when you listen to it, it just fits? The fact that Yuma Uchida and Nobunaga Shimazaki reunite here is both amusing and cool! They were Nagi and Reo in Blue Lock and Kyo and Yuki in Fruits Basket!

The last standout character is Kyotaro Sugishita who makes his presence known to Sakura by throwing a desk at him. Talk about making an entrance. He’s someone who really respects Umemiya, the top person of the school and doesn’t abide to anyone who speaks ill of him. This is why he picks a fight with Sakura. He’s tall, but hunches. His scowl and long black hair helps him stand out.

His voice actor is Kouki Uchiyama and it surprisingly fits. He’s got the trademark moody and emo vibes Ucchi characters are known for. I just need to listen to it more because he only shows up towards the end of the episode.

I honestly can’t wait to see what sort of story Wind Breaker will be about and how Sakura will become the top of the school. I also can’t wait to see what sort of friend group he’ll have as it’s necessary for a shounen MC to have one! I’ll be tuning in next week to see more. What are your thoughts on this episode?

What was Kicho thinking and doing before he met you?

Man dressed in black: "You're Nobunaga's vassal! Prepare yourself!"

Klink!

Kicho: "Guh!"

Kicho swiftly dodged the attacker's blows as soon as he saw him and picked up a nearby sword.

Kicho: "Back off. I have no intention of dying in a place like this."

Man dressed in black: "What are y―"

Kicho quickly adjusted his stance and slashed at the man with the same force.

His style of swordsmanship was rough and overwhelmingly fast, leading to a quick victory.

Swoosh!

Man dressed in black: "Guh!"

With a splatter of blood, the man dressed in black collapsed to the floor.

Kicho: "Well then."

As he shook off the blood dripping on the blade, he looked back and saw that the owner of this sword had already died.

(This guy must be Nobunaga's vassal.)

(And the one who attacked me thought I was also Nobunaga's vassal.)

The realization came to him as he felt the burning heat on his skin that this building, though engulfed in flames, was familiar to him.

Kicho: "No doubt. This is the Honnoji Incident of 1582."

(I've made it this far.)

Kicho: *sigh*

Leaning against a tree, Kicho took a deep breath.

The reason he had been feeling sick earlier was not due to the countless battles he went through to get out of Honnoji Temple but something else.

He clucked his tongue at the memory burning in his mind.

(Just remembering it makes me sick.)

(But as long as I have this memory, I'll never lose my way.)

He turned around and looked up at the black smoke rising into the sky, seemingly burning away the stars in the night sky.

Upon seeing the unending strife in this turbulent world, he narrowed his hazel-green eyes.

(Tonight, Nobunaga will die in defeat, and Japan will once again enter a new era of change.)

Kicho: "I need to move quickly."

One month later―

Kicho: "Nobunaga is alive?"

Kicho's subordinate 1: "Yes, I have solid proof."

(You mean some force has changed history?)

(I see. To think it would be this easy is a blunder on my part.)

Kicho's subordinate 1: "Also, I have removed all servants, as you ordered."

Kicho: "I see. Thank you for your hard work."

Kicho's subordinate 1: "Are you sure about this? Some requested to stay here."

Kicho: “No need. I don’t think they will last after seeing their masters being driven out like that.”

Kicho’s subordinate 1: “Yes, sir. Then, please check this.”

Kicho’s subordinate 1: “I have summarized the results of my findings on the recruits.”

Kicho: “Sobei and Yoroku? I see. It’s even more suspicious to see that there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Kicho’s subordinate 1: “We’ll monitor them. Is that all right?”

Kicho: “Yeah, I’ll leave it to you.”

Kicho’s subordinate 1: “Understood.”

A voice called out to him as soon as his subordinate bowed and left.

Kicho’s subordinate 2: “Lord Kicho, your guest has arrived.”

His subordinate left and later returned with a dark-skinned man.

Shojumaru: “Nice to meet you, Kicho. My name is Shojumaru. You already know I’m a trader, right?”

Kicho: “Yeah, I’ve already done some digging.”

Shojumaru: “Digging? I’m not into some shady stuff like that, you know? Though, I bet you found nothing.”

Kicho: “Yeah, except for this.”

Shojumaru's eyebrows twitched as Kicho pulled something out of his pocket and placed it on the table in front of him.

Shojumaru: "That is a dangerous thing to have."

Kicho: "I should say those words right back to you."

Kicho: "This is a good one. Is it the same type as the one in your pocket?"

Shojumaru: "Yeah, it's for self-defense. In my line of work, I often get myself in trouble."

Kicho: "It doesn't matter what you intend to carry. You are required to leave your weapons with us during business meetings like this."

Shojumaru: "............."

After a moment's pause, Shojumaru took it from his pocket and laid it next to the pistol on the table.

Kicho: "I knew it."

Kicho: "I've already done my research. I know who you are and what you've been up to."

Kicho: "I didn't expect a dead man to be alive. Motonari Mouri."

Motonari: "If you know that much, there's no need to make things up."

Motonari: "So, what do you want from me? You're the guy who was in Oda, right?"

Motonari: "I heard someone had taken over this trading post, so I checked it out, and then baam! You, a crazy bastard, popped out."

Kicho: "That's all in the past now. I have no intention of going back there."

Motonari: "Even though Nobunaga survived Honnoji?"

Kicho: "All the more reason to do so."

(I can use what that man has built up.)

(If a single stone could overturn even the life and death of a person, then―)

Kicho: "If done well, it will be the spark that shakes this turbulent world."

Motonari: "............."

Motonari: "So that's what you mean. Then let's start negotiating right away."

Motonari: "If our interests are aligned, we can negotiate a deal in one shot."

Kicho: "Yeah."

Guy: "Guh! Ah..."

Kicho: "No hard feelings. I'll get rid of anyone who gets in my way."

Kicho put away his pistol as he looked down at the man who had fallen to the ground.

He collided with someone as he continued down a back alley and onto a busy street.

Mai: "Ah! Sorry! I couldn't see anything in front of me..."

Kicho: "It's fine. More importantly, your stuff. You're carrying too much for you to see the road ahead."

Mai: "I think I bought a little too much. I should've planned it better."

Mai: "Anyway, I'm glad you're not hurt. I'm really sorry. Well, bye!"

Kicho: "What? Hey, wait!"

He almost reached out his hand.

In hostile territory, one should not try to stand out, even if it’s a bustling place where people’s lives blend.

(Soon, it will all come crashing down, and everyone will despair.)

Rpg Anon: 1. You know, it's times like these where somehow I wished I could have given Fuyuhiko Nobunaga as his Persona. Nobu was infamous for using guns and being a super threatening demon king of a boss. I think that parallels Fuyu's use of guns and his Yakuza aura. (Side note: Nobu wasn't AS bad and notorious as he's depicted nowadays in media, it was really just hyperbole of some of his actions. He definitely was a super douchebag but he wasn't as demonic as all out hell.) However, I just couldn't find his wife to parallel Peko at all unfortunately. Shame, really. 2. This coincides with all those Limit Break moves I made for my au headcanon way back and with all the Danganronpa Personas ideas I've had. I know I've definitely yet to think up every single person on this blog's Personas at all but I just realized maybe I should think up Unique moves everyone has with their Personas. Cuz you know, Persona teams eventually have unique moves at some point. Got any ideas? 3. Just like with that Hel debate, does anyone else have any ideas for Personas you'd like to discuss for someone? Mod and fellow anons?

Book review:

It's 1579 and the end of Japan's warring age appears imminent. Few warlords remain who have not been crushed or enthralled by the might of Oda Nobunaga, the great unifier. Making inroads are firearms, European fashion and Christianity. Into this world steps Yasuke, a towering, dark skinned African bodyguard who ascends to Nobunaga's inner circle. More than a biography, this is a detailed account of martial, upper-echelon, pre Edo Japan.

Taking place amidst some of the most exciting and violent years of Japanese history, this is a riveting textbook camouflaged as a biography. Yasuke was an intriguing oddity. A singular black African soldier, he arrived at a time when Europeans were rare and himself nearly unique. He rises to become a confidant of the most powerful warlord the country had seen and officially gains elevation to samurai, complete with stipend and household. He's also a linguistic genius going from fresh off the boat, barely heard of Japan, and within a year he is conversing with the defacto head of state, not only without embarrassing himself but well enough that Nobunaga would specifically sought him out for discourse.

Yasuke's story is the backbone to two other major elements that contribute to the bulk of the 400 pages of content. Digressions are frequent and sometimes expansive. These cover relevant character backstories, the state of the world, the Jesuit order, scientific advances, ocean travel, regional history, local history, cultural notes and other circumstantial information. The other major element is Oda Nobunaga. His looming presence and monumental impact mean that Yasuke is sometimes an excuse for a massive infodumping of Nobunaga's manoeuvrings, political intrigues, regional factions, personal histories and warfare. This last point is not to be taken lightly. Another review goes as far as saying that "blood and gore ooze from the pages". Perhaps an exaggeration but  it does viscerally convey the martial activity prevalent to Yasuke's world.

Yasuke is the work of Thomas Lockley of Nihon University College of Law, Tokyo, in collaboration with Geoffrey Girard. Described by some sources as a debut novel, it certainly feels as if great care and attention have been lavished into its details. It was first published in 2019 as African Samurai. Arguably a much better and very literal title but perhaps confusable with the separate cult fiction property, Afro Samurai. The latter being an action slasher in a generic Edo-ish setting with light cyber and supernatural genre blending. More recently, an older, fictionalised Yasuke stars in a Netflix OVA adaptation, again featuring an altered history and very anachronistic Edo.

▷Choice: This isn't what I'd call “few”

Ukiha: Really? I find what little maple trees we have here pale in comparison to the likes of those in Hogaike Park, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and the Tofuku-ji Temple.

Ukiha: We used to have many people coming and going from this place, so efforts were made to take special care of the courtyard back then….

Ukiha: However, we no longer have our gardeners come in as frequently as before, so the current state of the courtyard is a little… embarrassing.

Spoilers for Part 7 If Wishes were Kisses

7 parts and likely real life years of me writing this story and finally we are having a real action/adventure plot.

Only one sad bitch can star it in. That's right welcome Kurapika! Your going to have a hell of a time!

I do not have all the details worked out yet because it is far in the future.

In Part 1 Hisoka meets Himiko Toga who is working for a mysterious Mara-sama.

In Part 2 Momo's parents will be asks to provide a drug that can be found in trigger. It causes quirks to show earlier in children.

There will be more foreshadowing in other parts of the story. I want at least one thing in each part expect for Part 6 that will lead back to the plot of Part 7.

Speaking of the plot.

Enter the great granddaughter of Dr. Garaki.

She believes in the quirk singularity theory. As quirks get ever stronger at some point a world ending quirk will be born and end all life as they know it.

If only a quirk existed that could safely take quirks from others. If only the government was smart enough to insure that any quirk too powerful were taken from an emotional child and given to someone that would use it only for good.

To save the world she must rule the world. To rule the world she will need powerful quirks on her side. Most importantly she needs a quirk that can take other quirks.

So starts the Singularity project.

Dr. Mara Garaki begins by opening up underground clinics that treat villains, criminals, and the occasional hero keeping a low profile with no questions asked. They accept donates, but demand no money and the heroes thinking this is a charity allow more and more of these clinics to open around the country.

They don't know that some donates they take are not money, but DNA and it isn't always knowing or willing by those that go there.

Dr. Mara succeeds in taking DNA from many heroes and uses that DNA to create children. Hoping she will find the wining combination that will let her take over Japan and remove powerful quirks.

She also succeeds, well mostly. Chrollo ability isn't perfect, but it's close enough that a quirk awakening could give her what she needs, failing that he can be used for DNA to make the next batch of kids.

The children who aren't needed will be disposed of.

Their are many children, but the important ones she creates are as follows.

Chrollo, Machi, Feitan, Shalnark, Nobunaga, Shizuku,Pakunoda, Kurapika and Canary.

Chrollo's Quirk is pretty much the same as in cannon. He is an almost failed experiment. She's going to ty to force him into a quirk awaking deadpool style and if it kills him use his DNA.

She couldn't get ahold of All for Ones DNA therefore she uses Monoma's for his quirk Copy. This makes Chrollo Monoma's biological child

Machi's Quirk

Feitan's Quirk Undecided, but their is a fan theory about him being a Zoldyck which I don't believe, but I could drop Momo's DNA in their and have him directly related to Kalluto. Just a consideration.

Shalnark's Quirk

Nobunaga's Quirk

Shizuku's Quirk

Pakunoda's Quirk

Kurapika's Quirk when his eyes turn red he summons invisible chains that when touching someone easers their quirk. He has Aizawa's DNA. Considering giving him Bakugou's DNA too

Canary's Quirk is pretty much Lock Down the same as her biological father's Rock Lock's quirk although she can use another object like a staff to increase her reach. Whatever her staff touches she can also Lockdown. Her other bio parent however is Mina.

I'll come back and put down everyone's quirks and parents when I'm more certain about who I want to use.

Anyways Kurapika is going to have to work with the troupe in order to escape.

Canary is along for that ride because she's super cool.

Anyway the story starts with Bakugou on patrol thinking about how Kirishima has told him we wants to adopt a child.

He thinks this is a horrible idea because normal kids suck. Well kids that aren't related to his friends tend to think he is scary, but in Bakugou's mind most kids just aren't badass enough to have him as a father.

That's when blond anger Kurapika appears while being chased by villains and brutally takes someone out.

That's why I kind of want him to have Bakugou's DNA just to have a really good reason for Bakugou to take him in.

Aizawa is long retired with injuries so while he will certainly be in this story a good bit I would like Bakugou to be man adult co-star.

Anyways because the kids escape the heroes find out about the dna thing and take most of the villains out. Head villain chick gets away.

Heroes are now trying to find the kids they are related too.

I like the idea of Bakugou looking for Kurapika for months and then just finds him in deku's house because Leorio found him forever again and him and Gon have been hiding him in like the basement.

I'd like a Mina and Canary chapter were maybe Mina is the one to find her.

Kalluto is going to be torn between his new family or going to find the troup.

The troupe is going to try to be a badass evil thief gang again, but they are kids with villains and heroes after them so they are going to have to find someone to trust to help them somewhere.

Things are going to seem mostly cleared up after at some point. The kids will be mostly safe and most villains are in jail so it's just a matter of time for catching Mara....

The problem is that she kept some experiments close at hand. Her soldiers. A new improved version of Nomu all designed to protect her and her greatest child.

The one that will ensure she is able to take over the world. The other children were just a side project really. It's time for her greatest creation to be born.

Meruem.

Yep we are gonna bring the Ants into it and leave you on a cliff hanger.

Note I'm going to have someone else working with Mara that has a quirk that makes people remember their past lives. This was way I can give another reason for people to be reborn besides wronging Killua.

Chapter 6 - The Onsen Murder

The two went inside the inn house and were guided to their room - It wasn't anything glamorous, considering it was just a small, modest resort for relaxation - But there was something warm and soothing about the modesty and simplicity of this place. Perhaps because it suited the mood and the atmosphere of peace created by the mere existence of the hot water.

As they settled comfortably inside, Kat stretched her arms a bit and went to sit on the ground in a comfortable position, tapping the spot in front of her and looking at the warlord expectingly. He, instead, merely stared at her with confusion.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Come here and let me check that wound of yours. That is why we came here, isn't it? Be thankful I'm even considering stepping so low on my ego and treating you after the great offense you oh-so-gracefully gifted me." she jabbed at him with a poisonous smirk, as he could only chuckle.

"Later. I have something to do first. Feel free to use the hot spring first." he spoke dismissively, ready to exit the room.

"Fine. But you have to promise not to bother me until I've finished soaking." she bargained, going to pick up some towels.

"Have it your way." and with that final reply, he exited the room, making the red head smirk.

"Victory." she chuckled as she sprung outside, and looking carefully left and right to make sure there was nobody peeping or something, she undressed and put a towel around her as she leaned a toe down into the hot water. 

With a small giggle, she crouched down and slowly entered the water, shuddering a bit at the pleasant feeling of her muscle gradually relaxing and relieving any tension and soreness from working so hard. Her elbows and head were resting back on the rocks separating the water from the ground, and the slightly chilly night air that was making it easy to breathe through the hot steam, made this experience very exciting.

"Oh, Kat, you've been working so hard, you deserve this vacation! Yes, Kat, you're the best doctor in the whole Sengoku! The only Physician Princess in the whole Japan!" Kat started giggling childishly to herself as she hit the water sheen with her fingers, making small threads of water fly around. "Kat, teach us how to be like you! Kat, you're so awesome, we want to be like you when we grow older! Kat, everybody loves you, you're a role model for everyone! ... Yeah, damn right I am. I better be." but this ended with an almost depressed sigh as she stopped altogether. "I always have to upset myself somehow, don't I? How pitiful. What the hell did you see in me, little tiger." she muttered to herself, looking up at the beautiful stars that were twinkling down at her. "Are you also looking at the same stars as I am? Is it the same moon I'm seeing as well? Could it be that we are somehow connected, even despite our beliefs and differences?" the bittersweet smile from her face was at least better than the pitiful stoic look she has that makes her look as if she wants to burn the whole world and all its inhabitants. That look of being dead inside, imprisoned in a jail of nothing but a frozen wasteland, alone and shackled by the darkness.

However, her outer monologue was interrupted by the loud sound of the door opening, revealing Nobunaga garbed in nothing but the loose kimono of his, holding a tray of sake and one sole cup.  "I was pretty sure we agreed you wouldn't bother me while I was soaking. Is that how much your word is worth, Nobunaga?" the girl looked away as she edged him with her words.

"The innkeeper brought this to our room. As instructed by my beautiful medic, I will not be drinking tonight. You have it. Soak as long as you like, Kat. You have all the time in the world to check my wound, after all." despite his sweet words, he still knelt by her side, putting the tray to float in front of her in the water, as he leaned to plant a kiss on her temple, leaving her in a true state of shock.

What... Just happened now? Was Nobunaga willingly affectionate to her, without being a complete prick? But why the hell would he do that, anyway? He knows she hates these stupid games of tag, so there's no point in doing them. Despite his characteristic forwardness, he didn't act as aggressive and forceful as before, which was quite the wonder.

What the hell is going on with people in this weird ass era anyway? Shingen, and now Nobunaga were so direct with her... Why weren't they as Drew? So easily hateable, so dislikable and annoying, so punchable, so.... So many other negative words.  This wasn't right... People shouldn't act so nicely to her. This can't be happening. This... This doesn't make any sense. Everything has a reason, and this hasn't, therefore it's a mystery that has to be unveiled. Finding the reason hidden in the context. 

Nobody is truly nice to another without having a reason for it.

Altruism is a lie.

Every action has an ulterior reason.

They must all want something from her. They want to use her for whatever plans they have. That's right, what else could there be? Nothing is as innocent as it appears to be, is it? 

How sad.

And thus, after more internal conflict, Kat finished the sake bottle and realizing how her fingers were starting to look like prunes, it was time to finally get out. It was beginning to feel a bit suffocating anyway, so might as well. She dried herself and put on only the inner clothing in which she would be sleeping in, and letting her hair cascade down her back in a crimson waterfall, she finally went inside the room, seeing Nobunaga with his arms crossed on the ground, sitting in front of a goban table.

"If you want to propose a bet again, I refuse." was the only thing she said, not even bothering to glance at him,

"No betting. I just want to teach you how to play in case I get bored or want to come up with a war strategy." he explained, a relaxed and content expression on his face.

"...Sure, I guess. Can't hurt to learn something new." she muttered softly as she sat down opposite of him, looking awkwardly at the table.

"Very well. As you can see, the board is empty now. There are two players - Black and White respectively - And since Black moves first, I will give you the honors. As they say, 'Ladies first', correct? A move consists of placing one stone on an empty intersection on the board. Although it is advisable to use your turn wisely, it is allowed to pass your turn at any time. A player's area consists of all the points the player has either occupied or surrounded, therefore, the player with the most conquered territory wins. A stone or chain of stones is captured and removed from the board when all the intersections directly adjacent to it are occupied by the enemy. These are the basic rules of Go." although he explained in words that anyone could understand, Kat could only nervously bite her trembling lip.

This is going to be the worst Go game you've played in your entire life." she muttered miserable as her shaky hand went to take a hold of one small pebble and put it somewhere in the middle of a row close to her edge, as if she was trying to somehow defend her own self by maybe creating a protective wall of pebbles... "That is to be expected. Nobody is born a genius. It is through trial and error that we learn, and through hard work and perseverance that we succeed. What you did now was possibly the most basic first move for a rookie. Most people who play for the first time try a defensive approach. The strategies one uses tells a lot about a person. You can learn more about a person through a simple game, rather than through thousands of comprehensive conversations. Isn't that fascinating? I'd say it's as fascinating as your philosophy from the road here." the brunet man left the girl speechless, and she could only stare at him in surprise. Intriguing.

"Rookies are usually so afraid of losing quickly in a game that they think a good defensive approach is going to help them stall the opponent a bit. There are often cases when castles had to endure a siege, and they won, because they had proper walls and provisions, while the enemy didn't. Throwing flamed arrows, boiling oil... Even using the matchlock flint. The best offense is a good defense. If I play like this for 3 more games or so, you may believe I'm some kind of scared hermit that hides all the time, afraid of taking risks. "It is just advice. You make of that as you will. It is not my place to influence anyone's decisions or strategies, otherwise I may as well play by myself." he smirked at her, making it obvious that he guess was spot on to begin with.

"In that case... I will place it here. It is allowed, isn't it?" she asked for confirmation as she saw the man nod his mess of black hair.

"Interesting move. So you did heed my advice. It is not often when players choose the not so safe approach." he hummed as he placed his own stone close to hers.

"If there is nothing to lose, than I don't see why I shouldn't take risks. It's just a game, at least for me. A game where the outcome is predestined. Might as well mess around with it as much as I like." she chuckled lightly, although her hand was still shaking.

The game went on with little small talk between the two, and while Nobunaga was impressed with her carefree moves, the end was very close. He took her hand in his and turned it so he could kiss the inner side of her wrist softly. "Admirable effort for a first-time player."

"The end result is still that I lost miserably. No need for pity for the losers... But thank you, I guess." she muttered, looking away shyly.

"I have never seen your hands shaking before. Why is that?" his inquiry seemed to hold genuine curiosity.

"I am the kind of person who never dives in without any prior information. I don't do things without knowing what I'm getting myself into. I don't take risks of any kind. The first time is always scary. You go blindly inside a dark tunnel expecting to find some light, but you never do. I hate uncertainty and everything I don't understand properly or I'm not good at. It makes me feel mentally incapacitated, and for someone who finds her only important asset her brain, it's... Like going on a suicide mission without any armor or weapons and you have a target saying Hey, Kill me." she explains softly, looking down with furrowed brows, the bitter frustration taking over her expression.

"Even prodigies must practice to become close to perfection. Real life and Games are not so different, so when there are no stakes at hand, you should enjoy the simplicity of it and the reason for its making - Entertaining their users. You, Katrina, had me entertained with this game. It is a pity you had to feel pressured by it. Then, shall I propose something more to your area of expertise to appease you?" he asked, a smile on his face as if to disspell all her worries.

"Do you want me to look at your wound, you mean?" she asked, looking up at him with curious, innocent eyes.

"Yes." he nodded, slipping his kimono down one of his shoulders, revealing the clean bandage around his torso.

"Before that... I have to ask you something real quick, and I hope you'd answer truthfully. Were you really injured?" she asked, looking into his eyes for the truth.

"What makes you question my truth?" he asked, squinting his eyes suspiciously at her.

"A man with a festering injury cannot move as freely as you did during our trip here, and even now. And you didn't even go soak, even though this was the supposed reason you came here. What are you hiding from me, Nobunaga? Do you really not trust me at all that you even have to lie to me and come up with silly pretexts and even mock my medical skills?" Nobunaga analyzed the look in her eyes, the dejection she so evidently had painted on her face. Why was it that this woman - A woman like any other female in Japan - Seemed to confuse and intrigue him with her few, but heartfelt expressions, while all those other wenches he wanted nothing more than to ignore? Why was he feeling so uneasy, looking into her betrayed eyes? Was that a pang of guilt in his chest he was feeling? 

"If you don't trust me, then look for yourself." and thus, he wrapped his bandages, revealing a cut on the side of his chest. 

Katrina knelt in front of him, her hand gently tracing the wound, she gritted her teeth in anger and disappointment, wanting nothing more than to shout at him, and slap him so hard his face remains fixed to the other side of his neck.

"Do you really thing I'm stupid, Nobunaga?" she muttered, her voice so... Shaky. It was trembling with emotion, and she wanted to cry. Was it the disappointment in her, or the wrath acting up?

"Why would you assume that?" he raised his eyebrow, although his eyes were as cold and emotionless as a dead fish's.

"...Why are you looking at me like that?" after a few seconds, she got the courage to look at him, only to see the ruthless daimyo in Nobunaga's place.

"One shouldn't answer a question with another." he scolded her a bit too harshly.

"Don't be a hypocrite when you did that same. You are not the Nobunaga from earlier today. You're looking at me with such cold eyes, as if I'm your enemy. As if I'm plotting your death right in front of you. You had life and happiness sparkling in your eyes and smile during the day... What did I do that made you change like that so quickly? I don't understand you, Nobunaga. I really don't. Or maybe it is that you don't want me to understand you at all. Do you really hate and mistrust me so much that you have to lie to me like that? I'm not stupid, I know this is a recent wound you made yourself to mask your lie. If you wanted to get rid of me, you could have done it well enough back in Azuchi... Or you could have just let me go and stumble around until I could finally go back in my time. Why must you be so unnecessarily cruel to me?" she couldn't even raise her voice and cry at him, to show him the anger and disappointment she was feeling - Instead, her voice was soft and barely audible. It felt defeated. 

Nobunaga didn't answer, and they couldn't only stare at each other for a while. That is, until the girl broke the eye contact and got up, opening her bag and returning to quickly treat his wound and wrap it back up.

"Why did you do that to the man who lied, deceived and betrayed your trust?" he asked, being in deep thoughts.

"...How do you know I didn't put poison in that ointment?" she muttered, scuttering away from him.

"A fawn is incapable of killing the lion who injured her. She's too gentle for that." his hand was extended as he caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers.

"However, I am no fawn, I am a fox, and foxes oftentimes have rabies. If I bite you, you are dead. Surely you haven't forgotten how scared Drew was of me last time he saw me." she scoffed, looking away from him.

"Drew is not a lion. He's a maggot. Your provokations and fire will only excite, not scare me away. There is a reason for everything I do, but you will have to trust me with this one for just a little longer. Do you still trust me, Katrina?" as she heard that question, the girl could only look at him with an enigmatic look.

"Trust is earned. Did you do anything to deserve being trusted by me?" she asked back.

They continued to look at each other, as if they were trying to understand one another. That is, until an unsettling clatter was suddenly heard, which made the girl immediately snap her head towards the noise with an unsettled look in her eyes. She really looked like a worried fawn without her mother, but she didn't want to admit she looked completely innocent, pure and afraid in his eyes - The eyes of a cold, ruthless demon who could kill a whole country by just blinking - He could snap her supple neck so easily, and yet, he wants to use that hand to caress and reassure her.  It was very odd for him, as he, too, was the one to get her to this resort and ultimately endanger her - But he also knew he wasn't going to let her get hurt in any way, so what does it matter as long as the vile Demon King protects his little deer?

"What did you get us into...?" she asked in a barely audible voice as her eyes lethargically moved to his, questioning him closely.

"Get to that corner and take this. I will prove to you that your trust in me is not misplaced." the corner of his mouth twitched upwards for a split-second, as if he was confidently reassuring her to trust him with her life, and thus, with a reluctant nod, Katrina snatched the dagger from his hand and leaped backwards, standing in a defensive position.

As if on cue, three ninja-looking men burst through the now-destroyed door, with katanas in their hands, angrily glaring and shouting at the warlord. It was clear to Kat now that this whole trip was a ploy made by Nobunaga. He was expecting this attack. It meant, in her opinion, that he lured these men here, to attack him, when he was 'unguarded'. Does that mean that earlier, when he said he had something to do, he was communicating with his allies about this scheme of his? No wonder he had a dagger in his sleeve at ready.

"You finally decided to show up. You should be ashamed of yourselves, attacking a man getting treated by such a lovely princess. You obviously lack any skills to please a woman." the man chuckled enough to infuriate the enemies who grumbled and got in attack stances. However, without as much of a bother, Nobunaga elbowed one of the attackers hard enough for him to almost fall unconscious to the ground.  Why was that the hottest thing Kat saw?! She was half-sure she was kinda blushing after seeing such a manly display of martial arts. No, wait, that's not right - Why the hell is she thinking that at such a terrible moment? She's supposed to stay focused and alive, not make heart eyes at Nobunaga and how attractive he is when fighting.

The other two attackers were obviously afraid and hesitating, but as they were ready to strike again, two more people burst through, this time, they were allies - Hideyoshi and Mitsunari - Who easily tied up the perpetrators.

The tension quickly settled as Hideyoshi's usual motherly side worried over Nobunaga's well-being while Mitsunari merely smiled a tad awkward for having to keep this secret from Kat.

"Do you trust me now, Katrina?" Nobunaga turned towards the girl, but he wasn't smiling, smirking or... Anything. He was looking dead.

"I already figured out what was going on behind the scenes. What I want to know is... Who was the one who didn't trust me and whose idea was it to do that stupid wound on your chest. I believe this whole thing created enough unnecessary tension and I want to know the truth now that everything is settled." mimicking the brunet lord, Kat, too, changed her whole demeanour to one completely devoid of interest or emotions.

"It was my idea. I didn't believe we could trust you not to slip information to our lord's enemies." Hideyoshi shamelessly spoke out.

"... I should have expected that. You are mistrustful of anyone, it was evident since the beginning. I suppose I should apologize for any moment that I may have acted suspicious in your eyes, however, I also believe I have nothing to be remorseful about and that this is simply how you are." the girl sighed, crossing her arms and returning the dagger back to the warlord.

"Katrina, I am sorry, but ow we know that you're not with the enemy. Forgive me. When we return to the castle, I'll do whatever I can to make it up to you. Lord Nobunaga has many enemies, many of them were innocent-looking women like you. I cannot take my chances with anyone new that appears in his life so mysteriously." his expression changed drastically as he now looked at her like a big brother and patted her hair as if to comfort her.

"... Thank you, Hideyoshi. And I understand your worries, they are valid. I also understand that it is weird for the both of us to properly understand each other, considering that huge time difference between us, but I am sure that, with enough communication and explanation, we will be able to cross this perspective bridge we are separated by." with an empty, polite smile, she reassured the man as best as she could with her diplomacy.

"I would call this retreat a success, and although my entertainment was cut short, it was still enjoyable." that warlord smile of his came by again, and Kat could only look at him, lost in thoughts and trying to process everything that happened, until she was forcefully brought back to reality when she felt the hands wrapping around her leg.  She squealed in surprise and turned her attention towards the pitiful man, crying out for help. She hated this, why would he beg her like that? Don't do that! Don't involve her in these things, she has no power and nor does she want any kind of power. She can only treat wounds, but she's no God like Nobunaga to play with people's fates. Besides, those other two weren't killed, merely tied up, so why is he like this?!

"G-Get off, please, I can't help you. You fate is in Nobunaga's hands." she awkwardly tried to walk step away from him, only for Nobunaga to show his decision and play the judgement card.

"Don't you dare......." with a low growl, the lord took out the dagger again and plunged it deep into his chest, slicing him down harshly, earning gasps from the other 3 people there.

The room was deadly quiet, only the sound of the small sword getting sheathed was heard as Kat could only gulp and stare at the dead body in front of her and how the blood was pooling around him. This, at least, was just like in the movies. She wanted to ask why, but after Nobunaga asked her to trust him, she realized that she once heard "Everything Nobunaga does is for a reason." but which was this reason?

So she stepped in front of the fallen man and to the trio's surprise, she kicked his side, making him stare blankly at the ceiling, and she noticed the dagger he was hiding. Now it all made sense. Nobunaga does everything for a reason, and this was his way of protecting her.

Seeing this, she crouched down and ripped the dagger he was still clutching even now and much to the men's surprise, she slammed it down to pierce his skull, impaling his brain. She was angry - Oh, how angry she was - And yet, her face didn't as much as betrayed her. "Begging for help to the person you want to kill... Coward. You're nothing more than a forgotten, replaceable lackey." as she got up, she spewed those degrading words, not forgetting to kick him in the side again out of frustration. 

There is no room for pity for anyone in this era.

"So? We're done here. Are we going home or what?" she spoke casually as she wiped the blood from her face with the already stained sleeve of her kimono.

"Yes, we must return to Azuchi quickly. We are going to hold a war council." Nobunaga nodded curtly at her and thus they went outside, only three horses there, as expected. Kat stared at the beautiful horse, at Kaze, and seeing that Nobunaga was still discussing with the other two warlords, she got up on the horse by herself, leading it to the trio. She cleared her throat to stop them for speaking and, looking at Nobunaga, she extended her hand towards him. He merely smirked and let out an amused breath as accepted her hand and got on the horse behind her, letting her lead the horse once again, following Hideyoshi and Mitsunari.

Most of the ride back home was silent, no doubt there were all deep in thought at what just happened, and even more, they were eager to interrogate to two captives. They were shaking with fear after witnessing the harrowing image of not only the Warlord killing one of their peers so easily and with so much anger, but also, of a small, innocent and scared looking girl acting with such a freezing rage, doing harm to a dead body - Albeit one that, when alive, wished to kill her -  It was enough to inspire a complete stunning fear into them - So much that they started babbling non-sense, begging for mercy and all that...

And then, they said something crucial.

Abbot Kennyo was their leader.

"So the former Abbot of Hongan-Ji is behind all this, as we suspected." Nobunaga muttered to himself.

"...Beware the Demon in monk's clothing...  He sounds pretty... God-Forsaken if you ask me. That means things aren't going too well for us, huh?" Kat turned her head a bit to look up at the pondering warlord.

"Do you trust me, Katrina?" he asked, looking at her with a serious expression - And yet, his eyes weren't cold anymore. They were confident, serious and sure of himself, it was almost comforting to her seeing him being so reliable.

"I don't have much of a choice now, do I, especially after making such a show in front of me, doing that wound on yourself so you wouldn't piss me off more, and then saving my life from that guy. But you still owe me for not trusting me." she huffed at him, making him hum with amusement as he pulled her back on his chest, kissing her cheek.

"I'll make it up to you, little fox. I'll even let you bite my nose or my neck." he chuckled lowly, teasing her.

"I'll think about it." she chuckled, shaking her head at his proposition.

"Katrina." this time, his voice was more serious and somehow, solemn and... With a certain gentleness behind it. Somehow speaking familially.

"Yes, Nobunaga?" she replied with the same level of softness and with added curiosity.

"I trust you."

Hearing those words was enough to make up for the whole deceiving scheme from the day. A reply wasn't needed, or there was no word to explain what she was feeling in her heart, nor could it watch the velocity of it. Instead, she reached one hand behind her to grab his and made him lean forwards so he would embrace her torso, feeling the intimate warmth brought by the closeness of their bodies.  Her head was turned away from him, he couldn't see, but from her gesture, and the way she squeezed his hand, he knew that she was smiling. He wanted to see her lovely smile more - He barely had the chance to see her happy or display any genuine emotion that wasn't anger, disappointment, fear, hurt or betrayal, many of them caused by either him or her stupid excuse of a 'lover' as he wanted to call himself.

Nobunaga knew he wasn't the best with words - In fact, he was terrible with anything concerning his heart and that blasted word that only brought weakness on the battlefield - Love, they called it. He never believe in it. He hated it. He couldn't let any obstacle, no matter how little, stand in his way.

...And yet...

Perhaps this will to protect and trust her was steamed, or branched from, this foreign feeling.

Love.

He had a wife, he had two concubines, and he had sons. He had to, after all. He had to, otherwise he wouldn't have been a respectable Lord and if anything happened to him, he'd have had no offsprings to pass the throne to. However, he made them all run away from him, or had them killed. His own wife was a spy and tried to poison him, one concubine died of smallpox, the other ran away in fear of him. And his sons were either trying to kill and dethrone him or got themselves stupidly killed in battle. There was only one more, but he stayed cooped away in fear of being a disappointment to him again. Pitiful.

But she was different. This Katrina, this woman from the future... He wanted her more than he wanted anything. He desired her, he needed her around him. Her mere presence seemed to sooth his fears and worries, at least for the moment, and with her around, he was reminded how to smile and at least attempt to see the world from a much purer perspective, for a mere second.

He trusted her.

Alastor changes in subtle but very profound ways. It’s honestly like he matured in a lot of ways during his time there.

One interaction I do not see changing much is between Alastor and Lucifer. They remain virtriolic towards each other, even as interest between them grows the more they actually get to know each other. ((Ignore my Radioapple heart 😗))

Meanwhile, Gudako and Charlie bond over their exasperation towards their dads constantly trying to one up each other.

One of my headcanons is that Lucifer is just as Eldritch as the beings bonded to the Foreigner class servants but in a different way (biblically accurate Angel plus the literal morning star).

I actually don’t think Alastor would like Lucifer beyond tolerance, perhaps even less so than in the show. Any closeness that comes to them is just barely at the “I tolerate you because of Charlie” level and nothing more even as time goes on.

In my mind Alastor’s dislike for Lucifer is based not on the fact that Lucifer is more powerful, but based on the fact that Lucifer is and was a neglectful dad and ruler.

And it’s somewhat implied somewhat fanon canon that Gudako’s dad is the same.

Alastor does NOT trust Lucifer, he does NOT like Lucifer, and he does NOT believe that Lucifer won’t just crawl back to the palace and be a no-show after a few days of bonding with Charlie.

Plus the amount of Bad Fathers ™ in history is crazy and Alastor may not have been friends with Musashi or Raikou but good lord all that fury that built up towards their shitty fathers might explode at Lucifer.

Also. Gudako doesn’t like Lucifer, so.

In terms of Angels and Foreigners, that would make sense in a way, but I’d have to look at how Fate regards angels. The only thing I remember about that is the one part in El Melloi II’s Casefiles where Grey asks if Angels are UFOs lol.

They’re still spooky in full form, but specifically to Lucifer: he has lost that right to a full Angelic form as a Fallen Angel. That was stripped away from him as he fell, hence the demonic form in the show.

In terms of power scaling, Alastor is still weaker than Lucifer due to the lack of mystery and age— Alastor with his Foreigner class is powerful, but still more Modern in terms of Servant age.

Servants like Enkidu or Gilgamesh from the Age of the Gods or with high enough Divinity could kill Lucifer. Alternatively, Servants like Nobunaga who are Anti Divine can also kill Lucifer regardless of age (Nobunaga leans towards the more Modern age with the invention of the gun imo).

The Beasts can kill Lucifer and normal Servants can level heaven or hell with their Noble Phantasms (staring straight at the Saberfaces), and honestly, if Gudako put her mind to it? She could kill Roo.

But until she’s threatened, she’s not going to start pointless fights (except against the Vees).

I’m still not 100% sure how/if I’m going to work in the other Servants, though.
