oh… i feel like i just gained forbidden knowledge, it’s not that hard to find if you really go looking though. it was amazing really, because it felt really cool and dumbfounding that this isn’t more common knowledge

but also makes sense, since not everyone gets invested in the lore of a small indie game development studio hahahah

(i've already shared this whole post's information at the wrong organ discord server almost verbatim, but i thought that the tumblr crowd might enjoy this too. i was told that i made some really good sleuthing with this hah)

it's about game files, textures, design details, and a previous project from the developers at wrong organ, which tie back into mouthwashing, at least in a subtle way in my opinion

it’s more about jimmy’s character design actually i know he was stated to purposely look like "your average joe" but personally i think there is more to it that wasn't mentioned, so strap in because this post is a little long…

okay… so!

some weeks ago i saw a post here on tumblr about an unused horse asset in the game files of mouthwashing, along with other multiple models and textures, and i thought it was interesting, but didn’t pay much mind to it

but yesterday i went around looking at the developer socials, as one does. first the wrong organ twitter account, which isn’t that hard to scroll at the bottom

i was looking at their mouthwashing memes really hahah

but then i saw in one of their old posts that someone asked about what happened to a shooter that was being developed, to which the account replied that it was sadly cancelled, and i thought “huh, i didn’t know about that, i wonder how it looked…”

cue more scrolling and a jump to johanna’s account

(she's wrong organ's co-founder by the way, obviously there’s people everywhere who don’t know this lol)

first i only looked at her retweets really, a bunch of outstanding mouthwashing fanart, but when i saw in passing mention that she also does art and i went "AWOOGA¿! FELLOW ARTIST SPOTTED"

immediate jump to her media tab so i could scroll from bottom to top

and oh boy

was i in for a surprise

remember the unused horse in the game files i mentioned earlier¿ YEAH THAT HORSE

going through johanna’s twitter gallery things started to connect, and man oh man… [VINE BOOM SFX]

my first thought was

decent chapter today! it was quite short and didn't wrap up novel ch168 like i was hoping it would but it's okay, at least paradise arc is over and we won't have to deal with bamboo man anymore. yjh's internal monologue thing wasn't cut out and was accurate enough so i'm happy about that. also the kdj expressions at the end 💀

I'm just relieved that paradise arc is over tbh (bye reinheit, won't miss you 💀), so I don't have a lot to say about today's update lol. I wonder why they started making the updates shorter though. I'm also sooo excited to finally move on to the, uhm. funnier/more engaging/better half of kim dokja's love arc.

Rip me who only watched one and it was G.I. Blues wahahaha oh wait, I watched two. I forgot I that I watched Love Me Tender during those 40 days after my pops died. Basically I remembered near to nothing because I was numb during the whole experience 😅😂✌️ but here goes

A Little Less Conversation from Live a Little, Love a Little: I haven't watched the film. But this song is so cool to listen to while your walking in the street. Like I remember this song played in shuffle all of a sudden and I literally felt the confidence rise up inside me lol. Wanted to strut in the freaking sidealk lol end up giggling while I walked cause I felt really cool but I feel like people were giving me weird looks lol

Viva Las Vegas from Viva Las Vegas: Again, haven't watched the film. Almost watched the film but quit halfway, regretted it severely, and haven't had the time to check it out again. I love this line so much: they're all livin' the devil may care // and I'm just the devil with love to spare. That and it reminds me of my papa's story of when he and his brother was in Vegas to gamble and shiz then the guards end up detaining my uncle because they wouldn't believe he was above the legal age since our family is known to have baby faces. Also it makes me think of my papa in general, the man loves his cards. I saw him every single day playing his cards and shuffling a deck on a table. The man's a gambler. He spends his afternoon mostly playing bingo and sometimes going with his sister to play slot machines. Though I've never known him to go over his budget. It's just one of his life's pleasures. I have a speculation he was in Vegas during the 70s and that he did see Elvis live on stage but he never mentioned anything to me when he was alive and I literally didn't ask 🤦 so I think that's gonna stay between him and Elvis up in heaven 🤷 lol I mean, pops said he got to watch Yul Brynner performing live in The King and I sooo 🤷 I'm assuming he was in the audience during the 1977 revival of the musical so I don't think my speculation that my father probably was in an Elvis show is that far wahahaha it's just that he's dead so I can't confirm shit wahahaha

Return to Sender (Girls, Girls, Girls) - This is a song I’ve loved since I was a little kid, long before I became an official ���Elvis fan.” Even though the lyrics are actually kind of sad, the music for this is so bright and cheerful that it always makes me smile. I love the percussive part that sort of sounds like someone is tap dancing. And after seeing Girls, Girls, Girls, I can’t help but picture him doing his cute dance moves with that big smile on his face.

In My Way (Wild in the Country) - I love the simplicity of this song. This really lets the beauty of his voice shine through, and it is just magical to hear that. ❤️

Trouble (King Creole) - Elvis does so well with bluesy songs like this, and I love how you can tell that he loves them and really gets into them. I love his cute accent on the spoken part, and the way his voice goes up and down when he sings the word “name.” I also love King Creole and New Orleans from this soundtrack. The style is just perfect for him.

Honorable Mention goes to basically the entire soundtracks for Jailhouse Rock and Loving You, especially the song Jailhouse Rock because it is just absolutely iconic from the opening notes on. Another one that I’ve loved for years and at one point would have said was my favorite Elvis song (back when I could probably only name 10-15 lol). “If you can’t find a partner use a wooden chair” was always my favorite line.

SCENES

1:) Armand's Turning in TVA. Most vampires were created terribly, either without their consent, or bumbling through the process out of clumsy inexperience, following how they themselves were made--in a bloody blubbering mess--like childbirth, ofc; motherhood is AR's bag after all, LOL. But Armand's Turning was BEAUTIFUL, relatively speaking. Armand had been begging Marius to be Turned for SO long, and it's wild how Marius only agreed cuz Armand was legit dying. Sure, it was traumatic in the sense that Lord Harlech had killed so many of Armand's brothers, and Bianca & them were all crying around his deathbed; and then Marius comes in and it just hits him like a truck, like WTF I was asleep for 12 hours and everything's gone straight to hell?! But Marius loved Armand so much that he wanted to make his Turning as beautiful & loving & clean as possible. He talked Armand through the whole process, and shaved & bathed him to make sure he'd be nice & clean after his body expelled all his human waste. (Which is why I look at AMC's version with Loustat like omfg, don't tell me Louis didn't even go home to BATHE afterwards, this is nasty. 🤢) It was just a really lovely scene, and Armand had one of the better Turnings (at least out of those described in long detail--Jesse's Turning was similar, but VERY short). It was so unique, that Lestat specifically asked Marius to turn his son Viktor exactly the same way Marius had turned Armand, to give Viktor & Rose the VERY BEST experience possible. Marimand set the blueprint, and afterwards Marius was like Ok, as your Prime Minister I'll make it Vampire LAW that THIS is how ALL Turnings should go from now on; the way I Turned my favorite fledgling, Armand, cuz I loved HIM & wanted the best FOR him. Incredible.

2:) Mekare smashing Akasha into the window and ripping her head off. Best scene in the entire TVC, I freaking loved it. And it was a really nice touch how Lestat noticed that Mekare had even bothered to clothe herself in rags, despite clearly being an insane wild woman (she was so determined to get to Akasha that she even shoved Maharet away with zero hesitation, nothing but murder on her mind). And how in PL Lestat was like Mekare didn't even realize that she'd killed Akasha and held the Sacred Core. So I've always wanted to know WHAT was in Mekare's mind? She's monstrous in the sense that seemed to act purely on instinct--motivated purely by vengeance & self-preservation (not letting Dr Fareed operate on her, but letting him take samples of her hair, etc); but she was also self-aware enough to know she needed clothes (she tied her muddy rags with a hemp belt, even); and she let Maharet comb her hair. And when Maharet was gone, Mekare KNEW to go to Lestat and ask him for help committing suicide, cuz she was sad--even though while Maharet was alive Mekare barely seemed cognizant that her sister was even there--at least not to Maharet. GOD, Mekare's so fascinating; I love every scene she's in! I PRAY Rolin includes her in QotD, esp. since he's done such a good job with so many types of mental illness & trauma already.

3:) Marius' fight with Rhoshamandes in Blood Communion. They nearly burned down Lestat's chateau, using the Fire Gift on each other, but it was a really cool fight--reminded me of something out of anime like Dragonball or Bleach. I wanted to see more of THAT, vampires really USING their Gifts against each other. I complain a lot that AR's vampires are too normal/human for me sometimes, when I just want them to be utter savages, LOL. Esp. since a lot of the times her vamp fights have really unbalanced power dynamics, where 1 vamp is significantly stronger than the other(s), so the fight's more like a slaughter (eg: Akasha's Great Burnings, Rhosh's kidnappings, Enkil crushing Lestat's neck, etc); or the older vamp is deliberately holding back (eg: Loustat's numerous fights in IWTV). So yeah, getting to see Marius & Rhosh duke it out was great, esp. since that was the FIRST time we saw Rhosh in action; I was more hyped by it than Rhosh's fight vs Lestat, which was objectively the better & longer & THE most important fight.

As for quotes, omg AR is such a beautiful writer, it's impossible for me to even give justice to her. 😭

The main line that lives rent free in my head is ofc from TVA:

When I tell you that line is so freaking ME. 🖤🖤🖤

Another one I really like is from Blood Communion:

"Speed and surprise!"

Cuz it goes all the way back to QotD, and how Mekare was able to take down Akasha. All those Gifts, all that talking & politicking, and at the end of the day it was just Mekare's element of surprise, and her brute strength.

Same with Marius both times he got jumped, by Santino & Rhosh.

And ofc same with Lestat vs Rhosh.

And my favorite WORD in TVC is ofc the iconic, the groundbreaking, the revolutionary:
