Don’t think of Jean and Kevin as Favourite Person by Peach PRC. Don’t think of Jean listening to it and thinking of Kevin every single time.

Jean couldn’t escape Kevin even if he wanted to. This was Kevin Day, the son of Exy. The former Raven turned Fox overnight. Kevin was everywhere and he knows deep down that even if he wasn’t, Jean would see him in everything anyways.

“You’re my favourite person, I have created a version that hurts less. I had to tell myself you’re toxic, better off ‘cause you’re the problem. Really I just couldn’t take it being hated by my favourite person.”

Over time it gets easier to hate Kevin. Between the Raven’s echoes of Kevin being a traitor and Jean’s own insecurity in being left behind it’s easy to weave a whole new identity for the Kevin he had fallen in love with. The Kevin he had fallen in love with never existed, he was simply a figment of Jean’s desperation. He couldn’t stand the idea of being hated by his Kevin but what if his Kevin never existed? What if it was all an elaborate lie? Jean chose to believe that as reality. After all, it was easier to create a monster than to stay in love with someone who abandoned you out of necessity. Deep down Jean know’s this isn’t the truth, he still loves Kevin and he knows Kevin loved him back, but it’s the survival of the fittest and Jean would never survive if he didn’t villainize Kevin as quickly as possible.

“I hate that I’ll never stop thinking that we’re still home growing up.”

Edgar Allan was the closest thing Jean and Kevin could ever consider “home”. The place was cold and unwelcoming and constantly felt uninhabited despite the amount of people who resided there but it was the only place the boys could call home. They grew up together there. Struggled together there. It haunts Jean that he wakes up every day still expecting Kevin to be there with him.

“I’m starting to lose all hope of ever letting go.”

Years pass, Jean moves onto the Trojans and begins a life he never thought he’d live to see. Slowly he changes and adapts and grows. He starts to feel things he didn’t think he was capable of feeling. He has a family, one that doesn’t expect him to hurt and call it love. But still he finds himself thinking of Kevin. Kevin is still everywhere, still making the news and sweeping the Exy world by storm. He’s in advertisements and sports store windows and on the radio. Jean doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to let go. Time heals most wounds but it will never heal the hole Kevin left inside of him.

“And if the world was ending I know I’d be spending my last day pretending we were fine.”

When things get especially bad and none of his newly learned coping methods help, Jean allows himself to pretend. He locks himself in his room, pulls his knees to his chest and closes his eyes. He lets himself believe that he left with Kevin. Let’s himself believe that Kevin wanted him enough to take him along to the foxes. He thinks of what life would be like if he had become a fox too, he would still be beside Kevin. He would still be on the receiving end of Kevin’s love. On the hardest days he allows himself to believe that him and Kevin are fine. He’ll never admit it to anyone but Kevin will remain Jean’s lifeboat until the day he dies.

“And when we both grow old with families of our own, I’ll probably always go back in my mind.”

Jean allows himself to fall in love again. He lets himself open up and takes the chance of being left behind once again. He falls in love and entertains the idea of having a family, one he would never let go of. One he would protect with his life. Jean has all this yet his mind still wanders back to Kevin. He knows he’ll never fully be over him, his love for Kevin was infinite and despite the fact that he’s well past moving on and has already fallen in love again, he’ll never rid himself of Kevin. When they fell in love they made a soul pact and while Jean can give someone else his heart, his soul will always belong to Kevin. He never had a chance in hell of ever giving it to someone else and over time he’s become content with that.

this goes without saying, but obviously i completely see nina as a scene queen who leans into "trashy y2k" (she's a huge fan of ke$ha and the millionaires)

i feel like shes also totally for getting a lot of piercings because she enjoys feeling bedazzled all throughout the day even if shes sleeping or in pjs/comfy clothes

an absolute glitter FIEND to the point that she's the person putting glitter in her shampoo, glitter in her perfume, glitter accessories, glittery makeup, drink shimmer in everything— literally anything that can be glittery will be glittery

going back to music though, i think her top bands are paramore, the millionaires, and ke$ha— like she's a very healthy mix of scenemo and y2k and it really serves

i also know i draw nina a lot different than other people AND I AM TAKING THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN MWAHAHA

so my nina does not have a full body bleach because (if i remember right, great, if i don't this is my canon) she gets the acid/bleach dumped over her which i am of the impression it would only bleach her face

i also think that nina would have a moment of clarity after and thats why she would let her smile cuts heal over and scar

i think the chemicals would also get rid of a LOT of her nerve endings in her face so she would not feel a lot of the previously mentioned piercings

i also think her hair would be crispy crunchy from all the hairspray and hair dye and being lit on fire

i can see her also being a big fan of led lights— like the idea of being able to constantly change the color of things around her to match her vibes or her outfit seem totally fitting

onto disabilities, i think nina definitely has QUITE the handful of mental illnesses, but i also feel like she would have pcos which would lean into her wanting to be more feminine from an infertility standpoint and "wanting to be more of a woman" so to speak

as for the mental illnesses she is 150% someone with bpd in my mind. i also think she suffers with psychosis and ptsd, as well as i think she would be on the spectrum (she's def got a special interest in fashion/design)

i also think a lot of those would pop up in her childhood, namely the bpd and the ptsd, because of the bullies and the outcasting, but i think jeff's influence on her life would lead to more prominent symptoms and reactions alongside psychosis and delusions caused by the psychosis

she's also got a problem with obsession and obsessive tendencies (as i think we all know or acknowledge— i have no clue if that was canon in original but fanon hast declared it)

i do think she's definitely strong so to speak, probably a bit more than the average person, but i think her "strength" would come from agility and flexibility when it came to murders

that being said i think she was definitely in dance and gymnastics when she was a kid which contributes to that

i do also think that she gets hurt pretty often regardless because she gets trigger happy and loses her accuracy (much to jack's dismay)

shes way more spry and quick than most people so while maybe you could out-strengthen her, you couldn't outrun her and she would be able to slip out of difficult positions easily

totally off of vibes but she lived in the midwest before the slendermansion

so i feel like jack leans more into a simple emo getup— hoodie and jeans, flannel and jeans, not super showy (but nina would definitely dress him up)

its giving very overdressed girlfriend and underdressed boyfriend (at least next to her he is)

jack doesn't necessarily listen to a lot of emo songs though, honestly its a really healthy mix of everything "alt" so to speak

when it comes to disabilities, jack has super noticeable ocd

he's always super clean, always organized, everything has a place and it's in it's place (the complete opposite of nina who is the messiest person on earth)

he's definitely got other things like ptsd, depression, etc etc but i think the ocd definitely plays a HUGE role to the point that it's way more important to get across than anything else is because a lot of the mental illnesses of creepypastas are assumable (in my mind at least but i am super into psychology)

i don't think jack has any super noticeable disabilities and my justification is because he is literally a demon they don't usually have a problem unless they're a sinner in origin and mr man was sacrificed not a sinner

i don't think his vision is perfect for a demon though, i do think that the lack of eyeballs is a bit deterring there

there's a big separation in the way he acts whenever he's level-headed and whenever he's remotely emotional

i do think it's fairly hard to get him over that point of level-headedness though— he's very calm and collected until something is pretty personal or sensitive

i've seen a lot of people on here (one or two LMFAO) call him a feline-type demon which i agree with to a degree, he purrs and he's definitely got almost pressure points that make him purr, but i don't believe in the tail (arrest me i am an early 2010s creepypasta fan it takes me by surprise every time)

i do also indulge in elf ear jack i thoroughly enjoy that

jack definitely has a few piercings, but not nearly as many as nina (because thats a VERY high bar)

in terms of strength— i feel like my headcanons are pretty assumable because jack is a demon

he's already pretty strong as is, like he is nothing to fuck with even when he's calm and collected and unprovoked— but get him riled up and i think its a million times worse

there's less of a barrier whenever he's emotional because it creates this blurry-headedness that obviously does not mix well with being a demon and the emotions make him go from like this normal mode to a much scarier much more intense "final form demon" mode

if you take anything out of the strength portion, take "dont fuck with the demon" out of it 🫶

One on his chin from his adoptive father (Mh, there's a reason "Father" by The Front Bottoms is in my Aiden playlist) and one from above his right eye to his nose (cuts his eyebrow down the middle) he got in his fight with Jesse in Sky City.

They butt heads a lot at first but slowly found they liked climbing trees better together. They could also get away with a lot more together. They egg each other on and their shenanigans do AOE damage to others. [Aiden calls her anything but Petra because it makes her mad; Freckles, Ginger, Bandanna (Don't be fooled, they love every name he gives them)]

He met Lukas at five as well a couple months later. [Lukas was four] Lukas's mother, Helsie, read at the children's home a lot and brought Lukas along. Aiden included him in his and Petra's game and he and Lukas just clicked. They’re like night and day y’know? Lukas’ family was well off and Aiden’s never known the luxury of having enough money. Lukas was fairly reserved (as a kid) and Aiden was always outgoing. Lukas is levelheaded; Aiden is short-tempered as hell. Aiden brings Lukas out of his shell and Lukas mellows Aiden out. They are give and take, push and pull. And yet oil and water. But they meld well anyway. [Aiden's always called him Luke.]

Let me just explain my identity headcanons for them: Andrew is a (soft?) butch(4femme) bear/cub, agenderflux + gender apathetic trans man, gay man (ofc), and I see him as greyromantic/demiromantic too. I FIRMLY believe he has BPD, possibly BPD with ASPD traits. Neil is a butchy femme otter, genderfluid (genderfaunet specific) trans man, he/she, unlabelled achillean, demisexual (ofc) but also demiromantic, greysexual, greyromantic, and maybe nebularomantic/sexual too. I also lowkey like foxgender + catgender for him. I think he also has BPD, and autism. WHEW!!!!

I like the idea that Allison specifically helped Neil discover his femme identity :3c like, he took interest in her makeup and feminine fashion, and she helped him explore that. This is dear to me. I am very big into Neil wearing long skirts and feminine clothing, makeup, gold jewellery, and I think Andrew fucks w some eyeliner and silver jewellery too, and maybe the occasional dark coloured long skirt >:3 . I love the idea of Andrew being goth or having a style like that, but I'm not personally part of those subcultures so idk much about them!

With their relationship..... I am big into them being cuddlers & gentle & cute with each other. Obviously, they will never be a "typical" affectionate couple bcuz of their trauma & PTSD, but I like to think of them (especially Andrew) learning the gentleness of non-sexual intimacy & touch w each other, and I think they feel a love so strongly for each other, it changes them, allows them to understand softness and gentleness in their own ways.

I think Neil constantly buys Andrew sweet little treats, Andrew constantly wears Neil's clothing & buys Neil gifts (especially fox related things), they subtly but intentionally match clothing or accessory items. I am big into the idea Andrew loves to read too, IDC!!!! I KNOW that man enjoys curling up w some blankets and hot chocolate by a fire readinf some books. Gay ass. & I think Neil loves silly little movies & tv shows and has hobbies like knitting/crocheting or some other silly gay ass shit.!!! I think they are v possessive of each other (my BPD projection here, I fear). I do not think they ever get married or kids, but I think Aaron & Katelyn have kids and they are the weird uncles.!!! The "I love you" thing, I have no strong thoughts on – I can see Neil saying it, not so much Andrew. Honestly I dont like to think of them being separated post-canon on different teams bcuz I am DEEPLY attached to the foxes and their dynamic and it makes me PANIC to think of Andrew not beinf on the same team as Neil, or the foxes beinf separated in general, so I cannot give many thoughts on that.😭 I also love thinking abt them in all sorts of AUs, my fav beinf a fantasy AU where Neil is a runaway prince and Andrew is a skilled knight recruited to find him >:3 I am not creative enough to have a whole built story around that in my mind, but it's a dynamic I love thinking about. Also them in a zombie apocalypse AU.....<3 perfection. I also love thinking abt a more developed Neil & Jean friendship, and an Andrew & Jean friendship too!! Bcuz I LOVE Jean.

More Headcanon Ramblings

If you don’t like mental illness headcanons or in-depth talk about mental illnesses then there’s no need to read further. It’s all gucci, go about your business my lovelies!

DISCLAIMER: I’m not a professional in any way. I just have a special interest in the brain and its many quirks and afflictions. I tend to see these things in characters I see or play. Remy, Kurt, Cole, Tim, and Klaus especially. But right now I’m gonna talk about Remy! Since. This is a Gambit blog lmao.

So without further ado: here are some disabilities I think fit Remy pretty damn well. Ones that have Pretty Much Canon Evidence will be normal. Anything that’s purely my headcanon will have (HC) before it.

PTSD! This one is probably the more obvious one. I think most X-Men who’ve seen battle have it at this point, with all the fucked up things they’ve seen. Remy has likely had it since he was little. Canonically one of his earliest memories is being cuffed to a fucking patio fence while the Guild strapped up a gator to see if he could slip the cuffs in time. He was two years old. Well if that’s not traumatizing I don’t know what is.

(HC) Katrina. In my Remy’s canon, he was around 13 which is when most mutant powers kick in. Especially due to, you guessed it: Stress! I’d say being pinned down in a flooding building counts as stressful! He blew up the rubble and almost died. That’s definitely a ticked box on the Trauma Checklist.

Let’s see... What else...

The life in the Thieve’s guild couldn’t have been easy, especially trying so hard to impress the guild and his ‘adopted’ father. He had to grow up fucking fast if he wanted to live.

Killing a man at 18 after just getting married.

Getting A Fucking Lobotomy! (Side note his head was shaved for that which I think is a fucking crime)

Learning that all this work was to lead a group of murderers to an innocent group of Morelocks!

Depression. Self-loathing, self-worth issues, and self-harm specifically. It’s no secret that Remy LeBeau has had one hell of a fucked up life. Abandoned at birth over his mutated eyes, stolen into a family of thieves, basically used as a tool all his life. He’s been used and subconsciously trained to think he’s only worth something if he’s useful. Thus self-worth issues.

(HC) He had no outlet for his self-loathing, but he did have a neat power to charge shit with kinetic energy. Vibrational kinetic energy is, well, vibrational. He holds something and focuses, and it vibrates. He could manipulate an object to vibrate so much that it would heat up. Easy way to cause burns. Easy way to self-harm without being noticed. If people asked why he had burns, he could say he was trying to practice and the thing blew up. Nobody actually cared enough to ask, which made it worse. This is why my Remy has no feeling in his palms! He’s burned all the nerve endings out, whoops!

He outran his use to the Guild when he killed Belladonna’s brother, even in self-defense. The point of the marriage was to settle a feud between the two guilds, to bond them. While they still held the truce despite Remy killing the man, he was exiled from New Orleans. Abandoned for a second time in his life, by someone who likely convinced him he “Should be thankful he was taken in by the Guild.” and how Jean Luc “Stuck his neck out for him.” (Let’s remember I’m pretty sure he was 18 when they were married.)

Plus they abandoned him at a crucial part of his life: His powers starting to get too powerful for him to handle. This drives him to seek help. Unfortunately for him, that lands him with the Marauders. He almost dies trying to save the Morelocks after figuring out what the Marauders had been up to, but he pretty much fails. That’s a huge part of his life that he hates.

Right off the bat with the X-Men, he’s mostly tolerated instead of accepted. Nobody trusts him, so he gets bitter and self-isolates. That just kinda goes downhill from there.

Here’s the weirder one of mine... Borderline Personality Disorder! Remy shows pretty much all the symptoms of BPD which are as follows, at least from all I’ve seen. I’ll bold the ones that apply, and summarize some examples.

Fear of abandonment.  Already gone over this one.

Unstable relationships. *Will Smith meme at his numerous flings and escapades and also ROGUE.*

Unclear or shifting self-image.  At the beginning of the 2012 Gambit miniseries, he mentions he doesn’t feel like himself anymore. He has a lot of issues with it throughout the series. I’ve seen it in other comics too but he has a lot of trouble being torn between X-Men, the Thieve’s Guild, and his past with the Marauders.

Impulsive, self-destructive behaviors.  Thievery, reckless and numerous sexual encounters, pretty much no regard for his own health in battle, alcohol.

Self-harm.  Already went over this, still pure headcanon.

Extreme emotional swings.  He’s seen getting regularly frustrated with people, even those he loves. Especially with people that he finds annoying. Then other times he’ll be extremely apologetic or upset for almost no reason. The smallest thing can trigger it, like being called a thief too many times or being rejected by someone he cares about.

Chronic feelings of emptiness.  I’m not sure how to explain this one. It just shows, to me. Maybe the same instance as the shifting self-image.

Explosive anger. (haha get it) He’s actually really good at keeping his anger in check unless it has to do with people he cares about.

Feeling suspicious or out of touch with reality.  He’s really fucking paranoid. He’s paranoid that people will leave him or won’t trust him with anything. He’s suspicious of anyone new, wondering when they’ll leave him, etc.
