—— 1 year anniversary to Landslide [BOB FIC]

Wow! 1 year! I can’t even believe that just last year, I was sat in a lake house, in the late hours of the night, trying to figure out what idea was going to be my next for another Band of Brothers story! I remember the moment and where I had been sitting when the idea hit and looking back, I’m so glad it hit when it did. Landslide is far from that little idea I got in that lake house, but has continually developed, grown and changed in ways I look back and can’t even begin to think about how it even happened!

Natia Filipska has been a character that I will cherish close to my heart. Of course, I adore my other OCs and will always love them, but Natia holds an even more special place there in my heart because of the challenge in writing she has offered me. She gives me a challenge everyday - whether it’s having to rewrite a scene 5 times because “it’s just not her” or completely starting over a chapter because knowing Natia, she’d have a better way to get out of this situation.

I’ve also made one of my absolute favorite ships, coined “Fliptoye” by a few readers (you know who you are hehe) and it has grown to truly be a favorite of mine for so many reasons. There was no “love at first sight” or really anything like that. Just two human beings realizing they genuinely care for each other and enduring both the struggles and hardships that come along with realizing in war, you care for something that war can also touch. That for one of the first times it is not longer just about you or the buddy next to you. Natia Filipska and Joe Toye have been a joy to write!

And of course there was the month of disliking Richard Winters, the iconic nickname of “Mapkeeper” for Lewis Nixon, the Roman History nerd jokes that have now developed with Ronald Speirs, the slow start of some sort of friendship because of cracking a joke about Nix with Harry Welsh, and the comfort of a friend from Carwood Lipton.

Even Joe Liebgott and Natia Filipska have swiftly become a favorite duo and I can completely agree. Getting to see where they started and where they are now — from seeing their differences and arguments and heavy weighted disagreements to know finding ways to comfort each other even in the midst of war and making sure the other is okay and even eating. They’ve definitely been one of my favorite duos to go through that sort of character arc together.

AND OF COURSE, we can not forget one of the most important driving forces in the fic, Death, himself (alongside the sarcastic bits of War haha), most importantly the personification of Death. What draws me to a character like him, is more than anything the fact words can not be communicated between Natia and Death yet they hold such a strong willed connection, that you almost don’t need to worry about words. Each layer that builds with their connection, leads for an even darker end and makes Death even more fascinating in the end.

You can’t forget a guy like Agent Mortem! Without him Natia and Agent “Fidel” wouldn’t be here right? Right? Right….? Well…..anyway…..even with who he is and his partially uncovered past, Agent Mortem remains a heavy asset to Landslide as the leading cause for WHY Natia could possibly even be the way she is and to provide backstory on a multitude of other things, and for reason for Natia to have her redemption. There’s so much unexplored. And I’m so ready to talk about it! :D

Landslide has challenged me in ways I can’t even begin to describe both mentally and emotionally with my writing. I’ve had to rewrite, rework, edit over and over just to get it right but at the end of the day, it is always worth it. In some ways I don’t even know what else to say, and almost think the story can speak for itself! It is made for you to interpret it they way you wish to interpret it, there’s no right way to see who Natia is or what Landslide is about — whether for you it be about family, friendship, love in war, darkness and overcoming that, the struggles of mental health, finding your own inner peace or independence….whatever it may be, I hope it has possibly even helped you somehow in anyway :) Even with the MAJOR HECKING ANGST (LMAO💀) or the extremely sad parts (that honestly are probably just super sad to me LOL), it still is a fic full of lessons and stories equally about someone like Natia!

I can’t WAIT for whatever else this story has to bring to the table! With still a bit of writing for the future to go, it makes me so incredibly hopeful for an end in sight on both Landslide and Natia’s character and peace for all those lost throughout the story <3

Thank you to EVERY single person who took a chance with Landslide and took a read, if you were from Day One, saw it while scrolling through Wattpad or AO3 or Tumblr, or even saw the Spoon meme! I appreciate each and every single one of you! Whether you voted, commented or left a kudo, or just even took a read! I appreciate you SO MUCH! I can’t even begin to describe the joy this story has brought me and the challenges as a writer it has provided. I’m hopeful for the rest of this fic and hopefully for one or two more to come!

I don’t even know but just genuinely for so long, how could I not tag you! past

peyton hasn’t live in georgia all of her life. in fact she is one of the town’s newer residence. she moved there a little under a year ago with her mom and sister.

peyton was born and raised in san francisco in a neighborhood called pacific heights, commonly known as billionaire’s row.

she was born into wealth, her father owning a chain of five star hotels that had been passed down through the generations for as long as she could remember. she spent a ton of time in the beautiful hotels her father owned, learning her work ethic from him. her father was stoic man who put more value on a dollar than substantial relationships with his family. your typical rich dad.

her mother was a trophy wife, spewing meaningless side projects like perfume lines and eye shadow palettes that enviably made their way into departments stores alike.

peyton’s fondest childhood memories was helping set up for the weddings in the hotels. watching the flowers be arranged, the chairs be strategically placed, the wait staff setting the champagne flutes. this lead to her taking an interest in doodling wedding dresses and small flower arrangements.

she has a small wildflower tattoo going along the curve of her breast that she drew, fun fact.

when she was three, her little sister was born. the two grew up inseparable, running amuck in their house together, pranking the nannies but most importantly: ice skating. there were obviously no ice rinks in california naturally but their nanny would take them to an indoor skating rink for lessons. peyton and audrey were quite good skaters.

in high school, peyton won a ton of awards in art contests and even got scholarship to attend art schools across the country.

her dad insisted there was no money in being artist (even if money was never a problem for them), he urged her to take over and be a hotel tycoon like him. peyton and her father fought a lot towards the end of high school about this but at the end of the day, she was her fathers daughter and was stubborn. peyton knew the key to happiness was chasing you passion instead of the dollar.

she attended rhode island school of art and design, earning a degree in interior design and a minor in illustrator. after graduating, she returned home and expected to have a job in the hotel that could suit her.

as she expected, her father got her a job in his business planning the events and having creative control over how each other ballrooms looked as well as the lobbies. working in close quarters with her father made their relationship grow quite strong. the two did everything together and suddenly their stoic walls were crumbling, only for each other.

it seemed as though everything in peyton’s life was coming together. she was the head event coordinator at the hotel, her father was her boss and allowed her to have free range. her sister was around so they could goof off at work.

this was until one day peyton was bringing her father lunch from their favorite mexican food truck in the city. she then walked in on her father sleeping with his assistant which put a stake in their relationship.

peyton couldn’t keep the secret from her mother. she’d rather her mother walk away with dignity rather than stay with a man who had no respect for her. but her mother did not have the same respect for herself.

peyton made the decision to take her funds and move to georgia to be near her grandparents, that’s how she ended up in peach hollow.

peyton’s time in peach hollow

peyton moved to peach hollow three years ago per her ultimatum to her mother that it was either her or her father and her mother chose her father.

she moved into a house on olive avenue and visited her grandparents frequently.

being skeptical at first about the new town around her, it took her a while to warm up and make friends.

she owned her own successful event planning business.

after about a year of living in peach hollow, she started dating leo choi and their relationship was rough from the very beginning. around the time they made things official, it got exposed by the peacher that she was an escort. and it also got exposed that leo had a secret child.

but peach hollow made peyton an extremely happy person and even made her a better human being.

peyton and leo were happy for about a year after overcoming their obstacles, just to run into another. leo got busy with work and his son, growing closer to other people as peyton began to drift away herself. it wasn’t until one day when their estrangement became physical.

leo walked in on his roommate lucas and peyton having sex and that was the end of their relationship. this was also the end of peyton’s time in peach hollow.

the last two years & now

after cheating on leo, peyton moved to nyc to take a job offer at a five star hotel planning events and also freelancing other galas throughout the city.

peyton’s been absolutely thriving, becoming a bit of a party girl with the city life but also finding herself as a professional in the daylight.

she’s even had a few relationships in new york but nothing as serious as her relationship with leo. she lowkey still has their pictures tucked away in her manhattan apartment.

she brought her dog mango to nyc from sanfran.

doesn’t talk to her mom or dad, has cut all ties completely.

moved back to peach hollow (olive ave) bc her grandma is sick and she needs someone to take care of her. is not happy ab it. was living her best life.

Things I Liked and Disliked about Emmerdale

This is a little thing I’m going to start doing from now on; the last few episodes were pretty jam-packed with stuff I loved so I thought this would be a good way to sort of recap and organise my thoughts!! Thursday eps were a bit full on for me to go into, so I’ll start with last nights. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up!!

Things I liked/loved - Robron-related:

The fact that the first time we see Robert, he’s playing with his engagement ring - the ring he took off in the previous ep, but obviously couldn’t bare to be without for too long! He admitted he was a drama queen, but I loved that before he went to the station to support Aaron he just *had* to put that ring back on his finger - for himself and for Aaron.

Robert's inability to just sit and wait for news/progress on Aaron (which I wrote a little about here) - he had to take action!

Robert and Bob!!! And Bob being Bob, he was honest but also sensitive, saying that he’d given Aaron a good character reference <3

Robert going easy on Finn (at first) - I’d feared he’d go in all guns blazing but I liked that he was friendly with him (even if Finn ended up being a dick - but more on that later)

Robert being his usual romantic self and saying all the right things. Before Aaron could say anything, Robert made sure he reassured him and let Aaron knew where he stood; that nothing else mattered and that he loves Aaron, just Aaron and only Aaron.

Things I liked/loved - non-Robron related:

Jai “I am nobodies delivery boy!” lmaooo, I kinda love #grumpy Jai

Nicola and Jai are hilarious, I love how she basically totally owns him every time he opens his mouth

Nicola giving Laurel her old job back with flexible hours <3 I love how Nicola can be so sour and hard but then with the people she loves she can be such a softie!

Seeing Laurel happy and positive, even if it’ll no doubt be short lived :(

Gabby trying her hardest to keep the family together by making out everything is okay when it’s not, it makes me sad but I like how kind they’ve made her lately, when it wasn’t so long ago she was a total brat. I love seeing her devotion to Ashley.

Things I disliked:

Seeing Aaron in his cell like that....alone and scared and hurting himself. It really breaks my heart seeing him like that :(

Chas being so mean to Paddy at the station. I get she was upset/angry/frustrated but DAMN girl. I know Paddy can be annoying AF but that was well harsh.

Finn just being a total utter dick??????? Like I get he’s in creepy stalkerish mode and everything is KASIM KASIM KASIM but selling out Aaron like that thinking he’ll get bonus points with Kas, who happens to think he’s creepy AF just like everyone else, is just not okay???

Finn being totally unwilling to help Aaron/Robert. Like he’s happy to linger outside Kasim’s house but he won’t defend Aaron. NICE.

The fact that Finn was the one who grassed Aaron up to the police?? WTF?????

tHE FACT THAT FINN WAS BASICALLY TAUNTING ROBERT????? “let’s hope he doesn’t meet someone else in prison” or whatever the hell he said, what the hell???? That is pretty OOC for Finn in my opinion, like even if he had major beef with Aaron I don’t see why he had to be so nasty to Robert??

Ashley’s carer Will is a mega babe but would he really pop out and leave a young teenage girl alone with Ashley, who had been violent towards him just a short while before? And also, surely Will would speak to Laurel himself directly instead of letting Gabby do it??

PADDY AND HIS BIG GOB. Like why would you go blabbing about what DS Wise said in the middle of a goddamn pub, to fucKING PIERCE of all people????? All because he was mardy DS Wise was potentially standing in the way of him getting his leg over. I really loved Paddy in Thursdays episodes, I thought the Parlon scenes were pure gold, but now I’m back to being angry with him again! (I’ll get over it, but Paddy is on my shitlist at the moment!!) (although he’s waaaaaaay behind Pierce and Finn)
