Okay, we all know being a demigod is a shit position. Its scary and gets you killed in really nasty ways. But I feel like being a Big Three Kid has to be the shitiest position in all the shit positions.
Like, imagine being Thalia Grace. Your dad is king of the gods, lord of the skies. Led a war to get rid of a tyrant. And the only thing you get is his scorned wife AND brother, who both try to kill you (with one technically succeeding), a drunk of a mother, and brother who you thought was dead. Oh, wait, he’s not dead! No instead he was used as an offering to appease your dad’s wife and help fight in a war and prevent mass destruction.
Or maybe you can imagine being Percy. Son of the sea god, the stormbringer, the earthshaker. You get to live with a disgusting, abusive man for around 6 years. Who smells like literal shit. All because your scent as a demigod is too strong, BECAUSE of who your father is. You see things that you aren’t supposed to see and do things that people can’t do and go years thinking something is wrong with you. That your the problem. Then you get to the one place where you’re supposed to be save. But! Here is the kicker! You’re not! Your uncles hate you and you’ve been accused of stealing a symbol of power. A series of events that will kick off a war, and guess what. You’re a center point for it. Welcome to Camp Half-Blood.
Mhm, but then there’s Hazel. Daughter Pluto, god of the underworld and riches. But that doesn’t really change anything does it? She’s still living in 1930s America, in a red state. One where confederate flags still hang if you go deep enough into the city. She go to a school where the kids are supposed to be just like her! They still don’t like her tho. She’s got no idea who your father is, only that he left her with a parting gift. Only it’s not really a gift. Sure, she can pull rubies and diamonds from the earth, all worth millions. But anyone who’s ever gonna touch it will die. She lives with her mother, a woman gone so mad with greed it kills her. And Hazel, by the way. Laying dead Alaska, inhaling oil. But it doesn’t end there! She can’t have her mother suffering for eternity, can she? The answer is no. Hazel gets to spend the next 70 years in the Fields of Asphodel. It still doesn’t end! Because when she’s brought back to life, she gets to fight in a war against giants, her sad story seemingly never ending.
Nico’s a son of one of the Big Three, one of the most ancient and most powerful. But most people look at him as something bad, something not worth taking a second glance at. Something too look away from, mostly. He’s from the 30s, spent years in a magical time casino with only his sister at his side. She doesn’t stay for long though, she dies soon after they discover their heritage. And he doesn’t remember his mother much, a name without a face. A face without a name. He survived an attempted assassination at 2, though it wouldn’t be the only time his was life was threatened. He clings to his sister, even though she’s dead. He’s the son of the god of the underworld, is he not? There had to be a way, and there is. Only she won’t talk to him, she seems more concerned with communicating with the guy who got her killed instead. She chooses rebirth, and he decides to lay it to rest. She’s not coming back, and he has a war to fight in. (He gets stuck in a jar and forcibly outed a few years later, but that’s a lot to get into for now.)
Jason Grace is a pillar of New Rome, their golden boy, their American boy. He’s a son of Jupiter, a natural born leader. He’s been at camp for as long as he can remember, he wants to be praetor soon. He’s had a rocky start, but maybe he’ll be one of the lucky ones. Retire a veteran and live a long life with Reyna in New Rome. Only that never happened. He has no idea where he is, there’s a girl holding his hand, and she’s cute but it feels wrong. They get attacked and people come in and call him a Greek demigod, familiar, yes, but still wrong. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t put things into perspective the way it does for Piper and Leo. He’s goes to a quest to rescue Hera, the name sounds wrong. He nearly dies but at least he remembers who he is. He spends the next 6 months trying to get back home, even though he isn’t too sure on where or what home is. He gets there, eventually, but it doesn’t stop there. He’s dragged on quests and battles and fights in the war but at least he survives it, he’s still there. Apollo needs help, he and Piper give him aid. He gets dumped. He doesn’t get to he a veteran in New Rome. Not with Reyna, not with Piper, not with anybody. He doesn’t get kids or grandkids. No, he gets shot down, another demigod buried.
You could be any one of them, really. Pick your poison, but I guarantee you won’t like any of them. Spending years trying to find a place where you belong, where you feel safe. Only for it to never come.
Percy, who, if you really look at the books, isn’t really all that well liked until he’s at least 2 years into camp. Only to then be sidelined because the courages, brave, fearless daughter of Zeus is back from the dead. Nico, the son of one of the most feared and hated gods. Who has death written all over him, who excludes it so much animals can smell it and humans can sense it, who’s been ostracized and pushed off to the side since he was 10. Hazel, who was treated like disease as soon as she stepped foot on camp soil. Who’s gone her whole life looked as something that’s cursed, that will only bring misfortune, a bad omen.
Shit positions, all of them.

......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... .........
It was only after Percy had eaten that he learned that there may have been a more severe injury that he had not been aware of. His leg had been aching, and Jason didn’t want Percy in a different room than him, a wave of worry washing through him whenever Jason so much as stepped out of the room to grab something, so he was left unable to check to see why his leg was aching so bad.
Percy really wished that he still had the healing ability with water, it would have made trying to survive so much easier. It would have made it so that Percy didn’t have to feel guilty for needing medical attention, something he needed to survive. But of course, if he could still heal with water, then he wouldn’t have made it to Jason’s door.
His eyes followed Jason as he moved around the kitchen, feeling a little helpless as Jason took take of him. He tried to ignore it, especially since Jaosn would occasionally look towards him, and when he would assess that Percy was there, there was a bit more relief in his eyes.
“What happened to being at camp?” Jason asked after a while, and Percy sighed. It wasn’t a bad question, it was just a little hard to think about.
“I left.” Percy answered, Jason glanced towards him, confusion in his eyes. “I was done with the gods games, I was tired of everyone always looking up to me and just… holding me to a higher standard. Was tired of the quests and never knowing if I was going to come home.” Percy tried not to think about the fact that he didn’t really have a home to go back to anymore.
“Why didn’t you go to your mom’s?” It was an honest question, but Percy’s shoulders slumped a little. He couldn't go home because the last time he did, Estelle had gotten hurt. It wasn’t even because of some monster attack like Percy had once feared… it had been because of him.
“I-” Percy shuddered, shaking his head.
“Hey, okay, okay, don’t answer that.” Jason had stepped towards him, turning Percy just enough to wrap his arms around the Son of Poseidon. “Don’t answer that, it’s okay.” Jason murmured quietly. Percy couldn’t see Jason’s expression, but his tone of voice was reassuring enough as he leaned against the Son of Jupiter.
It was then that Percy realized just how cold he was. Sure, he was inside now, he’d eaten, and he’d at the very least had most of his injuries taken care of. He should have been warm now, but Percy was still freezing. Jason must have realized this too, because his arms had tightened around him momentarily.
“Come on, let’s get you a change of clothes and- Are you bleeding?” Percy blinked in confusion, glancing at Jason before down towards where Jason was looking, and yeah, okay, Percy was indeed bleeding from his calf.
“Oh, I-” Percy shuddered, shivering as he processed that there was some blood on the floor. Felt like a less amount than what Percy felt he’d lost since coming inside. But it was definitely also a concerning amount to have built up in the… hour? Hour and a half? That he’d been here. “My leg hurt but I-” Percy also realized that he was dizzy.
“Hey, okay, let’s get that taken care of.” Jason must have pieced together that, even with water, Percy wasn’t getting better. Percy felt that Jason was being too caring, especially since he’d randomly showed up and had been on the brink of death. Though, maybe Percy would be doing exactly what Jason was doing now.
“Jase, I’m really,” Percy closed his eyes as his vision swam a bit. He swallowed as he opened his eyes, he missed Jason cupping his face in his hands. “I’m really dizzy.” Jason’s eyes widened, but he nodded as he seemed to debate something.
“Okay, okay, I got you.” Jason uttered before moving and picking Percy up. Had Percy had the ability to, he would have flushed bright red. However, Percy took the time to just… rest his head against Jaosn’s shoulder. He was cold, and Jason was warm. Percy closed his eyes as they started to burn.
It took longer than it probably should have to realize that he’d started crying at some point. Just tears running down his face. Jason must have noticed too, though he didn’t say anything as they got to the bathroom.
“Okay, let’s get you cleaned up and that leg looked at.” Jason uttered, putting Percy down on the toilet seat. Percy only had the energy to nod along to whatever Jason was saying. He leaned back as Jason rolled up his pant leg, finding that one of the hellhounds had gotten a pretty lucky hit on Percy.
There was a clawmark down the side of his leg, not too terribly deep, so maybe the nectar that Jason had sprung on Percy had gotten that far before it ran out of healing ability for him. Jason frowned as he gently prodded at the edges of the sluggishly bleeding wound. It wasn’t the worst Percy had ever been hurt, even when he had gotten to Jason’s door… it wasn’t the worst he’s been hurt, but it was the worst he’d been while as weak as he was.
Percy winced, the pain in his leg feeling worse than earlier. There was an exhaustion pulling at him too, which wasn’t helping matters either. He sighed as his eyes closed; he trusted Jason with his life. And right now, Jason was the only person he trusted at all. Maybe Nico but it had been nearly two weeks since he’d seen the Son of Hades.
“Perce?” Percy forced his eyes open, finding Jason watching him worriedly. “Just how bad was it… how bad has it been?” Jason asked, and Percy winced. “I mean, you’ve had water, on… on the Argo that would have healed you, no problems. It looks like you haven’t healed at all.” Percy wondered if he had missed Jason trying water on his wound, maybe he had.
“I-I practically got disowned, Jason.” Percy uttered, there was a hiss of breath from Jason.
“That’s why you didn’t want Nectar…” There was realization on his face, and Percy nodded. “Okay, I’m going to grab a first aid kit, I don’t keep it in here, I’ll be right back.” Percy hummed, his eyes fluttering shut once more as he sighed. Jason patted his knees before getting up and leaving the room.
He must have fallen asleep, or passed out, because he didn’t remember Jason coming back at all.
I Found a Home (Here With You)
Summary:
“Fuck, you’re freezing, Perce, what happened?” Percy shuddered when they stepped into the house, it was so much warmer than anything Percy had felt in days. Percy wanted to answer, but it almost felt like everything was happening too fast for him to process. “Perce?” Percy felt himself get lowered, and his back was against a wall, hands cupping his face. Percy tried to force his eyes open, wondering why he was so dizzy? “Perce?” Jason’s face came back into focus as a liquid, Nectar, was pushed into his mouth. Percy flinched, turning his head away and thankful that he didn’t feel any spill as Jason pulled back for a moment. “Honestly I… don’t remember most of it.” Percy uttered after he’d swallowed what was already in his mouth. He shuddered at the taste of cookies, feeling almost surprised that Nectar still tasted so much like the blue cookies his mom would make. How many years had it been since he’d been able to have cookies? Nevermind having baked them with his mom?

......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... .........
Percy groaned, taking a moment to lean against a wall to take a moment to just breathe. Everything hurt and he was annoyed with himself that he didn’t think about the fact that Hellhounds had puppies.
Adorable to see, not so adorable to nearly be killed by.
Percy felt bad about killing them, but they were too old for Percy to even think about taming one of them, much less all nine of them. They already knew that ‘demigod’ meant ‘food’ for them, but this ‘food’ could fight back and they hadn’t been prepared for that.
Though… To be fair, Percy had been sleeping and it should have been an easy kill for them. Except another monster had kicked Percy’s side, probably a cyclops that also wanted Percy dead. Definitely a young one though older than Percy. His side was killing him and he was exhausted and he was stumbling whenever he tried to walk for what his body considered ‘too long’.
‘Too long’ also meant any further than a couple feet, it felt like.
Percy sighed, pushing himself off of the wall and forcing himself to keep walking. He had fallen a long way from the teen that wouldn’t have even been affected by such an attack… though if he had still been the teen he used to be, he wouldn’t have been on the streets at all tonight. Percy shook his head, shoving the current train of thought from his mind as he focused on walking.
He… didn’t know where he was going to go, but his feet were moving and he was walking somewhere. He was too focused on walking, and too focused on keeping his breathing even, to even think about where he was going to go.
So it was a surprise when, the next time he was more aware of where he was, it was a surprise to find himself outside of a nicer neighborhood… one that he knew he had some old friends that lived there. Would they be of any help? Percy was too out of it to try to sleep elsewhere, he’d be dead by morning.
Percy shuddered when a cold breeze brushed past him, forcing him to make his decision. He turned and walked into the neighborhood, mind running to the last time that he’d seen most of his friends. How long ago was that, now? Four years? Five years?
Percy wondered if too much time had passed. Would they even help him? Percy shuddered, wrapping his arms around himself, hissing slightly when his side ached a little more than the last time.
Percy hesitated when he spotted the house that he knew belonged to Jason; if he remembered right, Jason had left the demigod world behind too, or at least as much of it as he could. He could see a light on, and… Percy stumbled forward, knocking on the door when he reached it before he could stop to think too on if this was an actual good idea or not.
Percy wanted to smack himself, Jason had left the Demigod world before even Percy did. Percy hadn’t talked to him in nearly six years. Why would Jason help him now? Percy almost wondered if Jason would open the door.
He tried to turn away, to walk away before Jason got to the door, before he could be seen by Jason. Percy was halfway turned when the door opened. He looked back and found Jason standing in the doorway in confusion.
“Percy?” It… almost looked like Jason was relieved to see Percy, before concern flooded his features, taking in Percy. How he was, or had been, walking, how he was holding his side, and PErcy was almost sure that he was bleeding somewhere too.
“I… I didn’t know where else to go, I-” Percy stumbled, turning and hesitating as Jason stepped out to meet him. There was concern in Jason’s eyes, and Percy flinched when Jason caught him when Percy’s legs attempted to give out on him.
Percy’s eyes squeezed close as his ribs nearly screamed at him. Had the cyclops kicked him harder than he had first thought? His body ached from both the kick and the flying into a wall a few times… But he thought it was just bruises and aches from his body not being used to fighting now, it had been a year or two since a monster attack truly caught up with Percy… but it would be hell if Percy had a broken bone on top of the bruises he already knew were going to form.
“I’m sorry,” Percy tried to push himself up, glancing up at Jason. He couldn’t quite get his head up, Jason having moved to pull Percy into a hug. The blond had put a hand on the back of Percy’s head, his other arm wrapping around Percy and nearly supporting him entirely.
“Don’t… Don’t apologize, please.” Jason uttered quietly, and Percy felt himself sag against his old friend. “Don’t be sorry… Come on, let’s get you inside.” Jason added, moving to help support Percy more and to take the two of them inside. It was getting colder, and Percy wasn’t sure if that was normal just yet. For being September, it sure felt nearly like the end of November.
“Can you tell me what you do remember? I need to know what you fought so I can help best. If you got poisoned… Perce, I’m not letting you die.” Jason must have set whatever container he had that held Nectar down, as he was cupping Percy’s face in his hands again.
“Cyclops and Hellhound puppies.” Percy muttered, Jason raised an eyebrow and Percy wanted to look away again, but this was Jason… Percy closed his eyes momentarily, sighing quietly before opening them again. “Was, out of it. Hellhound puppies would have killed me had the Cyclops not kicked me into a wall.” Jason sucked in a breath, wincing as Percy’s eyes closed again for a moment.
“Come on, when was the last time you ate?” Jason asked, and Percy shuddered when a hand moved to run through his hair. It had been a while since he’d had a shower, but it had been so much longer since he’d had a friendly gesture directed at him.
“I… Four days?” Percy’s eyebrows furrowed as he tried to think when the last time he had actually eaten was. He was pretty sure that it was four days ago, but he could be wrong. He had been losing time, so it really could have been longer than four days. Maybe it was two or three. “Maybe two or three? I… Fuck I don’t remember.” Percy would have let his head fall back against the wall, but Jason was still cupping his face in his hands.
“Let’s get you something to eat, and any injuries looked at, okay?” Percy felt a bit of relief that Jason didn’t ask about Percy’s obvious dislike of Nectar, or at least his unwillingness to drink any more than what Jason had caught him off guard with.
Percy took a deep breath as he nodded. His head felt a little clearer, and some of the aches that had been bothering him more than the others had faded away a little… Percy was starving, and getting a shower afterwards would be good… But Percy didn’t have clothes. But that was a problem for later as he nodded a second time.
“Okay, come on. I want you where I can see you.” Jason moved to help Percy up, and now that Percy was more aware of his exact surroundings, he found that they hadn’t made it far past the entryway.
How embarrassing.
Percy had some strength now too, so he was able to help get himself up, though he found himself really unsteady on his own feet. He swallowed as Jason helped support him, fighting the urge to try and walk himself. He would only embarrass himself if he did. And Jason was at least helping him, when the Son of Jupiter could have turned him away at the door.
Percy ignored the fluttering in his stomach when Jason rubbed his side when they got to a chair, and Percy flushed slightly as Jason moved to make something. Fuck, how late was it? Percy tried not to think too hard about it as he watched Jason. Keep himself awake, keep himself focused and here and present. Percy didn’t need to be spacing out; he could only fall and get himself more hurt and he didn’t want to worry Jason.

Hi my names skyla and I make myself sad with fake scenarios for HoO. Here's one I want your opinion on. Instead of leo being the 7th wheel it should have been jason. Part one of two (probably) evidence in the next one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay first of all Skyla is such a beautiful name🥺and hello my friend! Love that you're in my inbox❤️
Secondly, this literally broke my heart and made me go feral at the same time!! Do you know how much love this?????
Okay I love literally all your points and here's my additions:
Rick making Leo the third/seventh wheel had no basis because Leo's personality isn't coded to have issues like that. So when Rick made him seventh wheel he had to focus Leo's entire character arc around it because otherwise it would have been completely invalid and plotless (lowkey it was but like there was some ingraining). So absolutely agree with you on the fact that Leo shouldn't have had the whole seventh wheel bullshit🙄
I LOVE LIKE CANNOT EXPRESS TO YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THAT YOU THINK JASON (Alexander @derpywarren) GRACE SHOULD BE SEVENTH WHEEL! Your points are Hella valid also to add on:
Because he was abandoned by his mom (and by extension his sister) when he was two there'd be some level of distrust, inability to form relationships, abandonment issues from that (not a 100% guarantee but pretty high #3rdyearpsychologsaywhat) and then he is given to Lupa who although takes care of him isn't really mothering and shouldn't be expected to be since she's a literal wolf. Also him being surrounded by the pack where he is the only human would be understanbly isolating. On top of this he would have to watch the only other humans (those demigods who go train with Lupa briefly before going to SPQR) go off and leave without him #abandonmentissuescomethrough. Now you have this kid (because he is undoubtedly still a child) who is fair enough a gentleman and will protect you and fight for you but he doesn't know how to connect with you. Doesn't know how to get close to anyone. And even if he did why would he because they're probably gonna leave again?
So he goes to SPQR and he chooses to become part of the lowest cohort (and we know Rick made it seem like it's because he wanted to he the hero and make him give them glory) but maybe it's because if he becomes part of the higher ranking ones he has to be involved, has to become part of a tight knit team and that means letting people in. (there's also some validation in him being scared they'll use him for his status) so he joins the lowest ranking cohort and if they fail oh well at least he never let anyone down or anyone in.
On the topic of Reyna. Maybe the reason her and Jaosn never worked out is because of him and not because of her (gods I cannot stand that rick made it seem like there was something wrong with her that she could never find love??? WTF kind of shit is that to say to a teenage girl?????????) So maybe because jason doesn't really know how to be vulnerable, how to let people see you their relationship never worked. He was a good soldier (which gave him praetor status and probably respect form Reyna) but he was a bad friend (or at least a detached friend) and for Reyna who lost her sister she probably needed someone stable and kind to wear down her stoniness.
Then Jase loses his memories and although he somehow (gods knows????) gradually gets them back we firstly dont know if he gets all of them or if he gets them accurately (because as we learn in neuropsychology memory is fickle and very easily manipulated). So he loses his memories by someone else's hand so on top of having abandonment issues and connection issues he probably also develops trust issues. And all these people know each other because piper and Leo know each other, Hazel and Frank and Percy know each other, Annabeth Leo piper know each other and obviously percabeth. He's the odd one out because he disappeared before Hazel and Frank could become friends and all his mems of Pipes and Leo are fake.
And now he's part of this huge quest to save the world, he doesn't really know anyone and they don't know him and how much can you really trust the son of Jupiter because it's not like the king of the gods has been especially kind or helpful to any of them in the past. On top of all this Rick knocks him out for most of this damn quest so he feels useless on top of everything else.
Anyone this idea is *chefs kiss* and I'm crying with you😭🥺

I was being sad and agreeing and yelling Fuck you Zeus and then I read the tags
Tumblr media
And I think it's illegal to make me cry like this??????
okay I was looking for an old post of mine after burning maze but I can't find it but. but. I had said something about when Thalia died, Zeus flipped out, and turned her into a tree with magical protection powers to honor her memory, but when Jason died...nothing happened.
And then I started thinking about The Last Olympian, where Zeus was being weird post battle and Poseidon told Percy something to the effect like 'he's jealous you're not his son' but...we Know Jason was leading a very important attack on the titan throne room while that was going on, and personally destroyed Kronos' throne. So Zeus just...literally didn't give a shit about that?
And now that I finished ToN, like...HERA was in full mourning over Jason's death, black veil and puffy eyes, desperately hoping Apollo understands her pain over his death, but Zeus was just...annoyed??? Like the kid died 2 months ago, people are allowed to still be upset, bro.
But like...help me Jason always spent his life dealing with the pressure of being Jupiter's son, he was forced into leadership roles he didn't really want because of it, he dealt with so much stress about it, and like. Seemingly his father was Never proud about any of his accomplishments, and didn't care about his death, and didn't feel the need to memorialize him after death and...
like not to start beef with the lord of the sky but like. what the FUCK.
