[Art is done by my wife @hlkproductions, who's asked me/given permission to put it here!]
Selene Amatori, Dominant of Greagor (Seraph) the Eikon of 'Mind'. The unknowing twin to Dion Lesage, she held the markers of a Bearer at birth and was separated from him for a lifetime. It was only on her Eikon's awakening from the death/rebirth of the Phoenix that she awoke as a Dominant. Swarmed by cardinals and priests alike, the ten year old Branded held no words of her own, all those in power speaking to the public on her behalf - to parade 'the goddess' in their needs for sating display, her brand painted ivory whites each day. Her only true companions were her Light and Shadow; Dion her trusted friend and Aramis her eternal guardian. For the purpose of her own needs, the newly-made royal Anabella falsified the excommunication of Aramis, compelled the duty for Bahamut along the front lines, leaving Selene alone to the kindness of a poisoned apple; sending the young woman to her death in a lockbox within the water. It was only using her Eikon's power - at the cost of her own health and fortitude - that Selene saved herself, fighting to live despite all the ingrained teachings that told the once-Branded otherwise. Now considered dead to the world and mourned by that suffocating religion, she found her first taste of freedom alongside another ghost; Joshua Rosfield. His status as a Dominant serving to hear the Mind's Call for help from that stormy river; bringing her to learn the world with his travels.

V is a careful lover, the side of Vergil that is delicate and understands that there is a certain finesse that comes with wooing that of which he wants. He is patient, observant, and has his eye trained upon the beholder of his affections. When reaching out to you, it is done with absolute conviction, aiming to strike true in hopes that these affections will be returned to him. Ever attentive, though at ease. He is aware that your heart might belong to another, that is entirely possible, but if you're happy, who is he to jeopardize that? V is considerate of your feelings, and yet he cannot help but to want to be a bit selfish.
He wants to be loved, and he wants to be given that more than anything.
Urizen is his opposite half, which unifies him to Vergil. He is possessive, and has no qualms with ensuring that you understand that you will be his and that he will be yours. As curious as that is, given his disdain for mortal life if it does not offer him power in any way, shape, or form. You make him act different, the king wanting to secure you and have you rule at his side as the world caves in. He makes a show of his power quite often, willing to shower you in gifts or to prove that he is the strongest possible mate that you will ever have or need.
He forgets his own strength in the pursuit for more, and in turn that may potentially harm you. That's something that he doesn't want, but he doesn't want to see you bleed either. That might be what causes him to push you away, to want to ignore you despite what his heart speaks to his fervent mind as he sits upon his throne. Such trivial matters shouldn't pester a king as they have, but here he is, wondering about that insignificant mortal... one that has planted such thoughts inside of him.

I know fans joke abt how the warden is more competent than the inquisitor bc they did all that w/o much help but the funny thing abt amihan is she actually isn't
she was 20, angry and hated herself and the world, she ended up in the situation she was in bc she was...a petty snitch. she also hates being a grey warden and continues to hate being one through dai - she actually leaves but then decides to search for the cure
for most of the Blight, it was fuck up after fuck up. like I play it so that I have enough ppl to help me fight the archdemon, but in my personal headcanon, she pissed off a lot of potential help (whether it be Circle mages who overheard her saying she was "gonna annul this shit" out of anger, eamon's men who did NOT like her, bhelen who didn't really trust the fact that she knew nothing about politics), left a bad taste in people they came across and picked a fight with anora
which I think makes sense for a 20 year old ill-adjusted young woman who had to learn how to be more selfless. beating the archdemon was pure luck mixed with people just NOT WANTING the Blight to destroy ferelden and realizing joining the fight was the only way to stay alive
amihan does grow, but it's slow, she has to process trauma, understand she hurt people and ruined their lives and to actually experience what it's like being loved (both platonic and romantic)
I tend to not post so much abt how much amihan fucked up and almost let a Blight swallow ferelden bc I tend to feel anxious abt how ppl will receive it but I think it's important to her character and it's fun and interesting for me to play with it in this case
immy is 100% more competent than amihan, in spite of her own flaws, but I love both my messy and my scaredy cat girl all the same

wait so we all talk about gideon christ parallels but if you think about it that relies on john as god, and isnt alecto god in just as real a way? and doesnt that make nona jesus?
and if you think about the miracle of god made flesh, and of nona's fraught but increasingly joyful relationship with being embodied; of christ being incarnated for the forgiveness of sins, and nona saying "forgive me, so i can know what it feels like"; of christ being made mortal so that he could die and defeat death, and of alecto saying "now all he has done was teach me how to die"... doesn't that make a whole lot of sense?

In regards to death and dying, Tonia has very specific opinions about the subject.
Mainly, that while dying is a terrifying experience, death is simply that - the termination of life, the endpoint of mortality. The most prevalent and consistent law of the universe; the immutable fact that everything will end someday; a cycle of living and dying, beginning and ending -
It is not something to be surpassed or ignored. Or rather, while someone can have every right to do as much, and may have complete and unrestricted freedom to attempt as much—it does not mean that this must be accomplished from a position of avoidance or disdain.
A person can devote themselves to escaping mortality so long as they do not fear or hate mortality itself. A person can try to reach for greater heights without forgetting the foundations they started from.
Similarly, there must still be a sense of respect afforded for the concept they wish to discard. They can try to obtain immortality, but they must not do so through an utter perversion of mortality, of life and death and the cycle of living itself.
But keeping these principles in mind during the process of escaping samsara is easier said than done. Hence, life and death are not concepts to be surpassed or ignored - not easily, at the very least.
As for why Tonia thinks as much...
That is because of her own experiences with death and dying.
Tonia knows exactly how it feels to die - the process of dying and the end-state of death. Of course, her end was but one of many ways it could have happened, and the permanence of that end was nullified afterwards through the Irminsul's (Freyja's) intervention. So perhaps, in some sense, she does not have a complete experience, only a biased one.
But not many can boast that they have died - well and truly died, heart stopped and consciousness terminated - only to come back to life after. Even if her experiences are biased, it remains that they are among the very few that exist at all.
And as a rare holder of such an experience, Tonia has eventually come to this conclusion:
Resurrecting the dead is wrong.
The benefits of a second chance at life do not matter, practical or emotional. It doesn't matter whether someone could serve a key role in a greater future, so long as they stay alive. It doesn't matter whether someone deserves to continue living or to live again. It doesn't even matter if they had originally died a horrifying death and should at least reach a kinder ending.
It's wrong. The dead should stay dead. No matter how they died or what potential they held. They should never—never—be disturbed again.
The act of bringing the dead back to life would appear to be the same as surpassing the concept of mortality, of escaping the cycle of living and dying - but to Tonia, it's not the same. To her, reviving the dead is more like denying these concepts in its entirety. "Rewriting their death" is no different from saying that you're ignoring the ending already written.
To wake the dead is to forcefully pull them away from the empty eternity of sleep and the quiet dream of nothingness - the peace and promise of finality.
It is denial. It is ignorance. It is deciding someone else's fate and manipulating their story without even bothering to ask if that's what they would have wanted anyway. It is the act of playing god upon people who ought to have the free will and agency to choose for themselves and it doesn't matter what the damned intentions are behind that act -
Tonia did not ask for a second chance at life.
It doesn't matter how pitiful her circumstances at the time were. That her life had been cut short to an abrupt ending. That her end was sad, painful and horrifying. Without a doubt, her death—whether known or perceived—would have been seen as a tragedy to everyone she ever knew. Understandably, it could be said that her resurrection set her on a different path to a softer ending and to a happier future with her remaining loved ones.
And she was never asked if that's what she wanted. She never had a moment where she consciously chose to come back to life.
(Why her? Why not the people around her? Why not anyone else who also "deserves" to live?
Tonia has not experienced every possible life and every possible end. She only knows of her short "first" life, the excruciating agony that consumed her at its sudden end, and a brief eternity of non-existence before her soul was brought back into the realm of the living. In that sense, it can be said that she does not have a complete experience of death and dying, only a biased one.
But that one experience was enough. Enough for her to understand that she shouldn't be alive. That it shouldn't cost anything to be alive. That the dead have their own rights and dignity and wills, and ultimately, they all should be left as is - not jerked around by the living and still-living.)
...
As such, these opinions thus boil down together into this:
People are free to seek immortality and surpass their own mortality, provided it is done in some "respectful" sort of way. But don't bring anyone else into it, not without consent and certainly not without some very clear explanations. Experiment on yourself if you're so inclined. But don't drag clueless bystanders into this bullshit.
Of course, there may be some flaws and maybe even exceptions to this perspective of hers. And Tonia is still someone with more empathy than she would like on a good (or bad) day; there is always a possibility to sway her from this stance, to water it down or outright ignore it.
But it's a distant possibility nonetheless. This is one of the very few, rare subjects that Tonia completely refuses to budge on, no matter what - she will always endeavour to be immovable on this, regardless of the debates thrown at her or the incentives to bribe her logic.
For the end is absolute. She will not allow anyone to flagrantly deny it in front of her - nor will she allow others to deny her the promised ending that she deserves and desires herself.

would bts be bts if even a single one of them was missing? the answer is no, and here is why.
saw a comment just now on lost mv about rm being the secret behind bts's success and that just sent me to the previous similar claims about taehyung and jungkook and that just led me to think that bts really would not be what it is if it weren't for all seven of them. like. each and every one of them brings something so crucial and fundamental that it becomes impossible to imagine bts to be what they are now without even a single one of them. and since i like to dig through personalities and characteristics, im going to thrive making this post so lets get into it:
Namjoon: Obviously the leader and a damn good one at that. he is the brains of the group. the fact that he knows english is itself a great reason for their establishment in the west but of course its much more than that. his writing and composing skills are no joke, first of all. his mature perspective on life and people helped a great deal in sort of identifying exactly what take to have on any circumstance. he knows emotions, is damn good at identifying them in himself as well as others, which becomes helpful in pinpointing what their fans want and expect. i wouldn't say he's a saint, i wouldn't say any of them are, and i suppose it'd be hard to be Good and Humbled after the heights they've touched but, he's very good at projecting himself and his team as well. his leadership skills are so refined you can tell its inherent because the way he takes stands and also makes sure all the members are represented is honestly a treat to watch. i wouldn't call him the backbone of the group because that's the next member we will be talking about.
Seokjin: He is the backbone. recent weverse interview offered a damn good insight to his mentality and i have to say, it's beyond whimsical or naïve. in today's day and age, and even before, especially for a korean man, to have that much confidence and self-assuredness that manages to not be toxic or overly forced onto the others is a fresh wave of breeze in a world where men are desperate to be noticed for the smallest of things. his maturity differs greatly from namjoon, as i think their foundations of their life philosophies are separate from each other. while namjoon is more of a worldly-wise guy, seokjin is more into the self aspect of life, and both of them combined are a very healthy ideologies to grow up around. seokjin may have had moments of suffering and self-doubt, that is not what i'm insinuating, but the fact that he's grown past those phases in such a beautiful way is inspiring, not only to the fans, but especially to the younger group members. he is insanely good at handling the member's separate personalities, even better than namjoon who i think is more tied around the professional aspect of their personalities. this is not to say that he doesn't know them personally very well, of course he does, but it means that he probably doesn't know best how to interact with them on a more personal, nuanced level, which i think we will all agree, seokjin is a genius at. ("what if he flings it?" "then he flings it.")
Yoongi: Yoongi, of course, the musical genius, he brings in passion to the group. I will admit i dont really know all that much about the fundamentals of music, but i know enough to know that Yoongi is definitely a genius of the field. while i think that namjoon is more of a lyrical genius, yoongi sure knows his way around words as well. but his strength is definitely in composing. and he's insanely talented at that. his early passion in rapping and his emotional connect to it fueled his rage and his need to be successful at it, and i feel contrary to what it seems like, he is the type to not let go of his dreams no matter what. i feel he is someone who picks his battles for the long haul and never ever thinks of quitting, no matter how hard it gets. that tenacity i think he shares with every single member on some level but in different ways. i think namjoon is more practical and reasonable in his pursuits, and jin is more self-studying, but yoongi seems like someone who, if has decided for himself that it is something he needs to do, will simply jump into it headfirst, and no matter what else he might need to do, he won't hesitate in doing that, will simply try until he gets it. being such a musical genius, he knows the musical strengths of his group mates. he identifies and values each aspect of bts, theirs strengths and weaknesses, and knows how to work through them. he not only recognises their specialties, but also encourages them greatly, resulting in the betterment and strengthening on bts as a muscial group.
Hoseok: Hoseok is the perfectionist. a very strict one at that. he does not play when it comes to professionalism, especially his field of it, and that's helped the group in strengthening this other aspect of idol life. of course, dance is one of the main things that makes any kpop act famous. and hoseok is definitely a huge part of the reason why bts is known for its choreographies. hoseok is serious when it comes to dance and synchronization and being absolutely perfect on the stage and in front of the camera. its not that he does not tolerate mistakes, but that he has that leadership quality of knowing who to push, when to push and just how hard to push them. but hoseok comes with dual benefits, because he is of course the sunshine of the group. hoseok is perhaps the best at compartmentalising, at distinguishing his personal life from his professional one, because he snaps the moment he recognises the need to slip off his professionalism. he is an incredible person to be around. that is evident in his compact relationships with the members. he shares a special friendship with each and every one of them, they all trust him to share their time with him and he shares a sort of playful comradery with every single one that it is always a treat to witness. he brings in that flavour of friendship that brings life to the group as a whole, because his closeness with every single one of them separately, in couples, triplets, quadrats or quintets or all seven of them together is the exact same: it brings playfulness to the front, a sort of easygoing, casual, free atmosphere that tells that he is someone who is a great friend. he brings in discipline as well as that humanness that needs to be tied together in order for anyone to reach anywhere in life, that bts has thruough hoseok.
Jimin: While hoseok brings in the professional aspect of dance in the group, jimin brings in his own separate flavour to it. one that, in my opinion, is the richest out of all of them. similar to hoseok, jimin too is a perfectionist. his perfectionism, however, revolves more around himself, as in he strives and strives to be the absolute best version of himself that he can be for any bit. he seems like someone who compartmentalizes in the extremes, as in he completely immerses himself in the environment he is in. his artistic vision appears to be rigid to him, it can maybe get him in his head, and that is perhaps why he gets lost in it sometimes. his solo does mention getting lost in feelings, going crazy in his reaching, and while they may not be autobiographical, it still says something about him. his personality is more loving and pure, he is caring in a way that seems angelic, knows himself and in that also finds it easier to know others, similar to seokjin. jimin brings in the heart of bts. he is simply full of feelings, but he is articulate and knowledgeable in navigating through them. his addition in the group is his loveliness and his exquisite talent. not only is he an exceptional dancer, but his voice is simply a whole other thing all together. his range and tone is so unique and vast, that bts manages to seamlessly transcend musical restrictions. his vocals are no joke, he is also a good enough rapper, was almost trained in it as well. what jimin brings to the stage when the performance is on is something that only he can bring. he sets the stage in sensuality without even trying, he expertise in the dance forms brings bts that all-rounder status with a depth that would not be possible without jimin.
Taehyung: The face of bts, no doubts at all. he is the one that brings in the crowd in bulks with a single blink of his eye. and i wish i was exaggerating but from my own experiences and almost experiences and judging by what i was listening in the fast-growing fanbase during boy with luv era, i really am not exaggerating at all. its not just his face either. or, perhaps it is, but it's not just his face that does all the work. his personality is such that it just sticks out. not always in the best way, we all know he also has the most haters out of them all as well, but the point stands; he attracts. with the least efforts, he becomes the crowd magnate that if nothing else, makes bts known at the very least. his position in the group has always been dynamic, from the very beginning to even now. being a hidden member, not having any main positions; sharing the visual position with jin, sharing the vocal positions with jungkook and jimin, no separate training to get him into the dance line-up, not enough training in being a rapper -- taehyung has had to prove himself to earn any position at all. but he has achieved his own place in the group in the same effortless manner that he does everything else. and that is what beings in the charisma. while his singing or dancing or visuals or rapping are incredible in themselves, it's no secret that he has grown to betterment. unlike jimin or hoseok or yoongi, taehyung seems to do things simply because he wants to do them. and he seems to be the type to want to be Good at what he does. he is also perhaps the one member in the group whose personality has changed the most over the years out of all of them. that makes him dynamic, it makes him captivating because he does not remain constant and seems to hold parallels inside himself. his uniqueness contributes immensely to the factor, because it doesn't take long to recognise that taehyung is far from being the average person you meet, in fact, he is nowhere close to it. he is smart in a way that he keeps hidden. perceptive in a way that is surprising every single time he lets it break out. he is effortlessly perfect, and he makes it known. he is in control of how he is perceived and that makes him clever in a way that keeps people on their toes whenever he shows up.
Jungkook: The pure, sheer, talent. he is the one that is born for it. the one that can do it all, and can do it all well. like the younger sibling in families, jungkook too is the handyman of the group. there is nothing else to say, he simply really was born to be jungkook of bts. it helps that he is insanely humble and incredible grateful for bts, because that makes him the fuel that that keeps the group running. he lives for bts, not for himself, but for this life. and while that is problematic on a lot of levels, it seems like he sort of is getting the hang of what it means to be a human. it is understandable, since he was recruited at a very young age, and that is also what contributes to him being theoretically perfect. every group needs undiluted talent, talent that can be molded into whichever vessel that is needed, and in bts, that talent is brought in by jungkook. he was acknowledged and acclaimed for it in the beginning itself, he is known by being perfect, and that ideal, the ideal of perfection in all its forms, thats what jungkook symbolises. his perfection comes from not only his born talent, but the fact that he puts effort behind it. him having perfect pitch is what he is born with, but he has trained himself in such a way that he can reach any vocal range at all. he has an energetic body, but he pushes himself to drive that energy out in every single performance to the point of near collapse. his perfection comes from his efforts, his efforts come from his humility, and that comes from keeping the truth of his talents to himself and keeping to work on them. he has never been one to sit idle, or be satisfied, or held himself back. when he gives, he gives in full. and perhaps that is the he is the one that feels the most amongst all of them. his gratitude towards the fans is what keeps them loyal like he is. he never fails to mention his fans for his success, never takes their support for granted, and despite being not as good as namjoon at voicing his feelings, he has such a face that reveals it all. his devotion to his fans is one that is rare to see anywhere else, and that's what maintains the hold bts has on its fans. jungkook is humble to a fault, but the fact that he is learning to think of himself is another beautiful thing entirely.
thus bts would definitely not be bts if even a single one of them wasnt part of it. brain, backbone, passion, discipline, heart, face and talent. even a single aspect goes missing, and you don't have bts. its another thing that they definitely would not be here if it weren't for bighit to push them in the west specifically with its insane pity-gaining and story-selling since the beginning of the formation of the group, but that's a whole different matter all together. bang-pd certainly had no good intentions for the boys individually or even separate from being idols who work under his company, so it makes me not want to call him or the company the soul of bts, but when you really look at it, i guess it wouldn't be too far off the truth to say they sort of did end up selling their souls to the company with its own selfish goals so it would somehow in a twisted way make sense. but anyways, yes, bts is bts because of bighit/bang-pd as well.

The fact that Jesper is like. a mid-tier fabrikator at best is actually so important to me.
So much of this story centers around the fact that these people are not chosen ones, that they have no sacred destiny or otherworldly power, but that they're children doing the best they can in a system that doesn't care about them, and all they have are their wits and each other. Jesper isn't an especially gifted grisha, and he has no formal training, but he takes that teaspoon of unremarkable talent and applies it to a skill he spent years perfecting to make something even greater and wholly his own. He isn't special because he was born that way, he's special because he made himself special.

argh. This comic writing is taking me way longer than usual. I keep editing things and it doesn’t feel right.
#wip#i think I finally got it#The issue is usually plots come to me formed yk#But for this one#I did have a plot but it was more related to Chil having a v bad experience and Mei hearing about it and then him telling her#Not to go thru with her plans to become involved with adventures in a sort of threatening way#So I had that all sketched out and then randomly I decided I wanted more drama#so initially I extended it and had it be that maybe she tried to hug him or something but he reacted Badly bc of his aforementioned shit#But I didn’t like that and it felt jarring and sort of…over dramatic. Too much.#So then I got rid of that. And then I was like well maybe he and Mei should actually have a conversation about it#Like he brings it up#So I wrote that and I had him get really mad at her and let that sit around for a minute bc uh-oh there’s another problem#Seee the issue with doimg multiple rewrites of something is suddenly the part that was initially meant to be the focus. Is not important#Anymore and is actually distracting from the main point#So OK I delete all that and rewrite that to make it less distracting#Still keep the important buildup in that scene but focus on Mei more bc this is a comic that’s from her pov#Ok ok yeah. I like that. But THEN#UH OH NEW PROBLEM. ! Remember that He gets really mad scene? The one I let sit to go worry about the middle section#Well. Haha. I read the whole comic back again to check for flow and shit#Get to the end#WOW ITS OUT OF CHARACTER AND JARRING. He’s not mean or anything I just don’t think he’d yell in that sort of emotional way?#I got so lost in the sauce I forgot to write good#So now I’m stuck. It’s so out of character so obviously I get rid of that problem.#Change it so he does still yell but less and also differently. and also now Mei gets to be pissed tf off#and tied it into several previous comics since I like things to be connected to each other#I think?? I think I’m happy with it now…but Jesus Christ#I don’t usually have to do Any rewrites#And the number of other comics I want to do is piling up so I take breaks to sketch those out for later#Then return. To my undoing.
