So, you're a system.
How do you keep a properly working (team/coop wise) collective? How can i establish a foundation for my system? How can having sys rules be beneficial, compared to the freestyle form? How can i propose and create foundations/rules to others?... Today, i will answer all of these questions. For those who are searching a comprehensive guide + awareness 'round this topic, this post is for you!
About working together..
Ofcourse, teamwork plays an important factor on how well we can tackle problems or obstacles in real life, no one can handle too much workload all at once,, so its obvious that we need help from our other parts.. but how can it be better? It could look like:
Assigning specific parts that does best at something to take over a situation, do not brave your way through if you're not great at it,, let someone else do the job for you, it keeps miscalculation and etc away.
Initiatively ask for a collective opinion if you feel unsure, it's not best to forcefully do it yourself as it might be a rash decision or missing a couple insights that's needed.
This should already be sufficient, but it can get even better if you have rules, as everything can be organized with protocols and doing work without having to be asked again, give those gatekeepers a break will ya.
Introducing the idea..
Have you ever spot some inefficiency, conflicts, and recklessness of safety and problems with switching/fronting in your system? Why not bring those concerns and tell that you have a great idea (even though its just by you reading this) by establishing a foundation, it should work.. but if it hasn't yet,, i'll tell you why having one is beneficial.
Rules are meant to be broken!.. Or actually not?
I'm not saying freestyle is a bad way to live your plural life, though, it does mean you will still have to face some consequences due to that result of freedom.. Some few examples can look like this:
Fronting without being recapped by others.
Fronting without your own notice and now you're confused.
Someone did some impulsive buying when you're away (the realest one i've seen amongst my friends)
Missing out extra details that should be important to be aware of.
The front being hogged all the time. Yikes.
Having a confusing timeline and memories scrambled everywhere.
And more..
With established rules, these problems will go away and its one more extra less headache for your life,, rebellious acts is still possible but remember that breaking them means there's responsibility to come. As a system with a great foundation for long-term efficiency and handling problems, not following the basic rules can cause some trouble in daily performance. Do you still want to be in freestyle?
Alright, how do i make one..?
To make a foundation, we'll have to encapsulate some aspects such as communication, switching and fronting etiquettes, ways to resolve, emergencies or backups, and anything else you can think of. I'll provide my system's rules in hopes you can take inspirations and grow your own according to needs!
Switching: We're gonna have to tell the others if we're done fronting. It's highly adviced to recap the person who wants to be out next, sure amnesia barriers are low enough to be aware, but the point is the person doesn't fully know of what had happened or needed to know, so this one fixes the problem.
Fronting: We have minimum and maximum lengths for someone who can be out, for the least as 3 days and max as 2 weeks. This prevents too many switches that will disrupt memory formation that will be shared for communal reasons and also means people don't have to fight for front and call dibs to have their own time, in turns.
Resolution: If it's something minor and can be done in it's own power, there is no need for intervention. We're not allowed to bail responsibility and double it to the next person, instead, a higher up will either come by itself as because its the job, or should be called to provide assistance.
Conflicts: Not like we're immune to having fights, but getting reminded by someone else that it is not the best way to solve things helps diffuse lots of unnecessary problems. This rule was made because back then my people would fight over each other and run to the front, do its thing, to spite the other.. even worse if what it did was rash and caused more issues.
Health: It is also necessary to let others know our own status (level of fatigue from being out, mental and emotional being) and depending on the situation, the person should switch out to get a break and rejuvenate,, forcing ourselves to function beyond our capacity will cause a burn out and no one wants that, right?
Backups: This is used when someone at front passed out or become distressed for all kinds of reasons, then need someone else that is safe to takeover and mask in real life, most of my system's work is internal so the one being out (external) is also an important role because they have to do the things, guided from inside.
I hope these will serve as an insight for you,, remember that we have to strike a balance between being adaptive and structured.. which means we can't rely too much on rigid rules or the lack of structure at the first place. Rules are always changed and updated depending on outcomes and leaving room for improvisation and creativity. So remember, yes you can kick the red cones on the street but never should you defy sys rules,, see you next time!

Can we maybe get another moment with Larissa and baby Wednesday? I feel like theirs untapped potential there and I love it! Like the first time weems has to baby sit baby Wednesday and Wednesday isn’t too sure of it at first but learns that Weems is also a great auntie. (Of course not even coming close to auntie Bianca as the best auntie🖤🖤🖤)
I’m so sorry I took so long with this!!! I wanted to do it properly, but I got so distracted!!
Hopefully this will make up for how long it took.
Wednesday entered the principal’s office after gaining permission to come in. Upon seeing who was at the door, Larissa smiled brightly. “Wednesday! What a delightful surprise! It’s only Tuesday, usually, you stop by on Fridays. Is everything alright?”
Wednesday shuffled shyly towards the shapeshifter, her mind teetering on the edge of little space. “Mo- Enid and Yoko are both busy today and Bianca has club meetings too. So, I decided to come here. I apologize for interrupting your work.”
Larissa catches the tiny slip-up but doesn't mention it, instead assuring Wednesday, "Oh, it's quite alright dear. I've been meaning to take a break anyway! Come, let’s sit!” Larissa guides the seer to a couch in the room, sitting down and patting the spot next to her. Wednesday sits down next to her, nerves showing clearly in her hesitancy. Larissa understands immediately what the issue is and seeks to resolve it, “You know, Wednesday, you don’t have to pretend to be big just because I’m around. I have seen your little space before and I won’t judge you for it. If you want to be little, then you’re perfectly safe inside this office, alright?”
Wednesday is taken by surprise for a moment by the shapeshifter reading her so easily, but seeing the warm and genuine smile Larissa’s giving her, Wednesday feels safer. But, she still has some worries and she voices them, “But, what if I annoy you? Or I break something? Or-”
Wednesday’s anxious rambling is cut off by Larissa wrapping an arm around her shoulders, pulling her in gently and shushing her lovingly. “Now now, none of that, dear. I assure you that you won’t annoy me and if something breaks, then it wasn’t secured properly and that would be my fault, not yours. I promise you, Wednesday, you’re safe to be yourself here without any fear of judgment or anything like that. I just wouldn’t be a proper principal if I didn’t everything in my power to create a safe environment for my students to be themselves, now would I?”
Larissa’s steadfast reassurance helps calm Wednesday’s mind and soon after, she allows herself to slip into little space. She sinks into the warm hug from the principal and quickly wraps her own arms around Larissa’s midsection, hugging her back tightly. “Fank woo Lawissa,” Wednesday mumbles quietly.
Larissa hears her and hugs the raven tighter, whispering back, “Of course, darling. You have nothing to worry about now.”
The pair hug for a little while before Wednesday pulls back. She takes her backpack off and opens it, searching through it for less than a second before pulling out little Raven and hugging her to her chest tight. Little Raven greets her best friend happily, immediately noticing her smaller headspace and the woman who helped her into it.
Little Raven is grateful for the shapeshifter’s help but then she notices the way she looks at her. As if she knows something more, but is willing to keep quiet. She couldn’t know, right? Could she? The only other person who was able to figure it out was Wednesday’s mother, but she swore to keep it a secret, the Addams matriarch well aware of a spirit’s desire for privacy. Did Larissa really figure it out so quickly?
In the middle of little Raven’s mini spiral, Larissa smiles warmly and winks before looking at Wednesday. Strangely, little Raven feels better even though there wasn’t a word spoken between them. A familiar warmth wraps around her mind, one she hasn’t felt in so long. It feels… motherly. Though little Raven can’t physically cry, she can feel the sensation of tears welling up inside her spirit. She collects herself so Wednesday doesn’t notice and turns her attention back to the present. Wednesday and Larissa are talking.
“-and den I maked wittle Waven fwy awound!! And she sounded wike a pwane!! Wittle Waven is so siwwy sometimes!! I wuv her so much!!”
Larissa smile seems to grow brighter and brighter the more time she spends with the tiny seer, her mind feeling so at peace around the age regressor, reminding her of someone she used to know. “Little Raven sounds like the most wonderful friend in the world! I’m sure she loves you too! Just as much as you love her.”
Wednesday pulls the haunted plushie close to her ear to hear her say, “I love you too, Wednesday! Larissa’s right!”
Wednesday giggles brightly, and wiggles around in place. She looks up at the blonde and giggles more, causing Larissa to laugh a little. They sit there together for a while, and as they continue laughing and giggling, they start laughing harder and harder. Eventually they’re both in a total laughing fit, tears rolling down Larissa’s face as Wednesday leans into her. They have absolutely no idea what they’re laughing at, but it has to be the funniest thing in the world because they keep on laughing.
Eventually, their laughter begins slowing down and once they’ve both caught their breath, Wednesday lies her head on the taller woman’s lap and shifts herself so she’s laying her whole body on the couch. Larissa is once again taken aback by the seer’s uncharacteristic affectionate mannerisms, before remembering that this isn’t quite the same Wednesday she had gotten used to before. No, this version of Wednesday is happy, genuinely happy. Larissa smiles down at the girl and begins carding her fingers through her hair, eliciting a tiny hum from Wednesday.
Larissa leans back on the couch and just takes a moment to think about Wednesday’s growth. The raven has come so far and Larissa’s been given front row seats to that growth. She has to give herself a small bit of credit too. Putting Wednesday in a dorm with a polar opposite werewolf definitely seemed insane back then, but looking at the results now, it makes it seem like this was her plan all along. Although she had certainly hoped that Enid would be able to rough out some of Wednesday’s sharper edges, Larissa must admit she never could’ve imagined that this would be the result and knows it’s not just Enid who is to thank for it.
Both of Wednesday’s girlfriends have definitely played a part in how trusting and vulnerable Wednesday has become. To think, a werewolf, a vampire, and an Addams all dating. It’s a once in a lifetime sight, Larissa thinks. She’s honored to have played her part in all of it. It’s why she became the principal of Nevermore after all. To help as many young outcasts come into themselves and be proud of who they are. To help them grow, that is what Larissa’s mission has been. And it’s quite obvious she’s succeeded, just by looking at the trio.
Larissa is pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of tiny snores and she looks down to see Wednesday fast asleep, clutching little Raven tight, who she can tell is also fast asleep. Smiling, Larissa reaches for the blanket she has lying on the back of the couch and she unfolds and spreads it over the seer. Brushing some hair out of her face. Larissa whispers softly to the girl, “Sleep tight, Wednesday and you too, little Raven. You’ve both earned it. With all you’ve both been through, you deserve the world.”
End <3
