I really need people to employ more healthy skepticism.

Sure, tumblr isn't Twitter or Facebook or whatever other social media people are on these days, but misinformation is still rampant here. As well as scams.

I see so many Gaza fundraiser posts that claim to be vetted. Well. Vetted by who? Did you check? Do you know and trust the person who did the vetting? Did the person you reblogged the post from? Or are we all just helping scammers funnel money away from people who actually need donations.

This is still the internet.

People lie.

Remember the Wayfair conspiracy? It got shared here too.

People are so quick to hit reblog to "do their part" and I'm begging you all to slow down a bit and critically engage with what sort of information you are spreading.

That science or health post you're reblogging - does it come with sources, or is it just repeating what 5000 different clickbait articles already copied from each other?

Especially when it comes to science, politics, and social justice, doing your part means to be critical of what information you are sharing. Doing your part isn't blindly reblogging 20 fundraiser posts a day, it's paying attention, it's actually examining what you are doing and what the people around you are doing, and it's trying to find factual information.

If you never learned fact checking in school, maybe check if your local library offers classes on how to find reliable sources and information. My campus library did that for a while.

Just please. When it's not about blorbos or other inconsequential stuff, stop and research before you reblog.

*grips your shoulders* an eight year old is not gonna act like that. put the pen down. close the laptop. stop writing for a minute. volunteer at a daycare center for a week or smth. an eight year old is typically (unless they're purposely doing it, but at that point you'll be able to tell) not going to speak in one word sentences. that is a child with a possible developmental delay and should probably get an assessment done. that is a two year old with an MLU score of 2.0 who is struggling with their present possessive verbs. look up the average heights of an eight year old because i promise they're bigger than that.

if your six year old is still doing reduplicated babbling and it's not clearly an on purpose active play decision, then they should probably (re: REALLY) undergo evaluation because one of the first signs of a developmental delay is delayed speech. children begin speaking in two word utterances as young as 18 months old. three year olds on average can hold simple conversations with adults. four year olds absoLUTELy can.

i know it's super fun to write children as being dependent and clingy to their parent for your super fluffy found family child fic but that is not a six year old that is a worryingly large two year old with a mild speech delay. you don't have to be 1:1 accurate, god knows i'm not but please at least know that children on average are capable of holding simple conversations by the time they're 4, and are usually doing the baby talk stuff to be cute or as a play thing. which isn't a bad thing but if they're talking like that unironically and ALL the time, then there is likely a problem in their development.

oooh wait so the plot hole of “why doesnt a spirit medium just channel the victims spirit” is literally bc the DL-6 spirit channeling cant be repeated huh

#im so fucking slow I was brushing my teeth thinking abt Gregory edgeworth in mayas clothes #and I haven’t played aa1 so I don’t actually know the details of it in case I get to play it for myself #but they brought up the spirit channeling mistake with misty and how it basically shot down the kurain techniques credibility right #and like. I guess trying to do that again would be a repeat of that incident which ended up with an innocent person being convicted #so Phoenix not only has to channel Mia because she’s the smarter better lawyer but also because summoning the victim #isnt exactly the first time it’s happened and gotten someone the guilty verdict. huh #replaying justice for all 2-4 so the case with Maya spirit channeling #and after playing aa3 I can really appreciate how much thought they put into the fey family and how a lot of the games events #revolve around it.#Mayas powers arent a ‘long lost ancestor’ as an excuse for her having powers. it is clearly and heavily expanded on #and the infighting makes so much sense when you consider the power differences between branch and main families.. and Mia becoming a lawyer #to find out what happened to her mother AND after being aware of that bloodshed and what it means for Maya #the way she chose Maya and didn’t want that for them. the way she put distance between them on purpose so they wouldn’t become like that #and Pearl is acknowledged as having more power than Maya but she’s fucking eight and loves Maya that she doesn’t see that as any #kind of power imbalance. heck when Morgan uses her for her plan in bridge to the turnabout Pearl was happy to do it #because Morgan said it was for pearls good and Pearl assumed that meant it would be good for Maya too and I 😭😭#the branch system was originally made so that even if you weren’t chosen as the master you could still support the family by protecting the #main branch. and the irony of that being the reason why main family members are targeted to be usurped #iris outright rejecting the notion of communicating to the dead and everything the fey clan stands for #there’s so much fucking lore to this and I don’t see it talked abt enough?????????!?????#yapping #ace attorney #as
