hello!!! i was checking the ages on the bt wiki and doing calculations. i found that tigerstar is 9 moons older than spotted + willow + red. he would have been a warrior by the time they were apprenticed
if this is a calculation error, how much older was tiger (and by extension, whitestorm) compared to the other apprentices in frosted thistles? or did he get held back?
i havent looked at my horrible timeline notes in a while (warrior cats canon makes it SO HARD! Spottedleaf's Heart has SO many age inconsistencies with the main books timeline-wise!)
but this is the note i left on the wiki so-
Tigerstar was made a warrior at 14 moons old which. is 1 moon off from his age (being 9 moons older than Spotted+) so who knows lol
but generally it is noted in Frosted Thistles I believe that Tiger and White were only apprentices with Spotted+ for about a moon before they graduated
really the main point is that Tiger in BT stayed behind to be made a warrior alongside Whitestorm (which Thistle "allowed" of his apprentice bcus he encouraged the two to be close since, y'know, it was his apprentice and his son and he wanted them to be besties therefore)
and also that Tiger and White are older than Frost, Brindle, Spotted, Willow, Red, but still in the same 'generation'
#lolling response#i dont even want to LOOK at the BT timeline rn#i got so frustrated w/ Blue's era's i quit#bt ages#frosted thistle#bt apprentice group#whitetiger#whitestorm#tigerstar#tigerclaw#tigerstar i#bt timeline#burning thistles#burning thistles au#asked and answered#anon ask#bt wiki#also if ur the same wiki anon as before#we saw ur ask for the secret sibs#but i dont wanna draw attention to it lmao

oh BOY anon ur in for a treat cause i just recently finished writing her backstory (tho its always subject to change lmao) and i've been meaning to make a tl;dr bullet list of notes for it too SO...
also, sorry this took so long, i kept getting distracted and was also just never in the right headspace to write lmao BUT here we are!
and just fyi, im not at all an expert on DnD or Forgotten Realms lore, everything i know is from BG3 and whatever wiki deep dives i go on
---
Yv'ette is my Baldur's Gate 3 MC/Tav! Although at this point, shes kinda becoming her own DnD character herself with all the other BG3-inspired ocs I have, and I've basically made up my own group of 'companions' alongside her for their own quest(s)
Here's a sheet with all her basics and such as an overview before I lay on an insane wall of text and pics for the rest of it:
And now, her backstory, in paragraph form:
~~ Valmeia Dyrr made a pact with her devil patron one day, while still in the first trimester of her pregnancy, that stated: in return for the power he can give to her, she is to choose one of her twin childrenâs souls to give to him.Pleading with the fiend to take some sort of mercy on her, on the twins, the devil Hyde gives her only one grace: âIf you fret over which to choose, know this: one shall be a sinner, the other a saint,â he informs her. âYou have until their 25th birthday to decide which you will choose. Fear not, for I will not take their soul right away. But slowly. Each time you draw upon my power after their 25th year, the infernal influence I have over them will creep ever further on their soul. Soon, I will have full control over them.â It was a steep price, but to wield incredible spells to aid her cause, and to be resurrected should she die from unnatural causes? It was a price worth paying. ~~
Yvâette Dyrr, Captain of the Stormbringer
Born as half tiefling, half drow, Yvâette grew up as an outcast to her peers - dusky purple skin, blackened sclera with flaming purple irises, and a furry tail tip instead of the typical half-arrowhead. Unlike her twin, who had a fairly normal shade of black hair, Yvâette inherited her fathers stark white hair, which is an unusual trait for tieflings in Faerun. This made her a target for bullying by other kids, and even other tieflings, as they would tell her how âweirdâ and âcreepyâ or âevilâ her mix of traits made her. While the comments from those kids would sting, there were plenty of other kids that would befriend her, many of which were also victims of the same bullies.Â
There was one kid in particular, a tiefling boy who lived at the local orphanage in the nearby town, that Yvâette had wished to befriend sooner. Although he carried the common traits of a tiefling, he was abused the most by local kids, likely due to his meek and generally uncaring attitude towards it all. One day, at age 15, after running around town with Vekyll, Yvâette would notice this same boy talking to a group of known troublemakers as she was called home by Valmeia. There was this feeling in her gut, almost like an instinct to go and defend this boy from whatever those kids were going to do, and it only grew worse as she watched them lead the boy away towards the river near town. However, the demands of her mother to hurry home eventually won over her, and Yvâette headed the opposite way.Â
That next morning, the body of the tiefling boy would be found in that very river, caught against a bridge's support beams. Throughout her life, Yvâette would constantly regret not following her gut feeling and telling those kids to leave him alone. While his name faded from her memory over time, that very situation didnât, and she often finds herself begging that tiefling boy for forgiveness during her lowest moments. She only hopes his soul is being treated better in the afterlife than it was on the material plane.
At age 17, while her twin brother was busy with knight training, Yvâette decided to attempt to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She auditioned for small community plays, performed skits with other kids for spare change, and eventually managed to land a permanent spot within a traveling theatre troupe by age 18. However, she was told that if she wanted lead protagonist or love interest roles, she would have to magically disguise herself as a human. âTo fit the type casting,â the director would tell her each time. âYour acting skills are immaculate, but the role calls for a human or elf, Iâm afraid.â The thing is, if she was ever cast as the antagonist or some other âevilâ role, she was never given the directions to disguise herself. For about a year or so, Yvâette held her tongue about this fact - the pay was decent, her fellow actors were friendly with her, and this was her dream, after all. She only needed to keep this job until she felt like she had enough experience under her belt to join higher-ranking theatre troupes, as well as train her singing voice better so that she could expand her talent range into musicals and operas (spoiler: her singing voice remains terrible and she's very insecure about it).
One performance haunts her particularly, one that she has nightmares of constantly. The theatre troupe decided to put on a charity show for an orphanage, a play that wasnât too intense for children, but still held a solid story and was engaging enough for all ages. It featured a hero, played by a dashing wood elf with his rag-tag team - and the villain, a greedy pirate captain played by Yvâette, with her crew of bloodthirsty misfits. While she had the opportunity to take the love interestâs role, it required her to be able to sing, thus she gladly passed the role off to another. The moment she received the script, she knew it would not end well. The performance itself went just fine, up until the climactic battle between the hero and Yvâette, both poised with their swords at the other, when suddenly the audience of children began to yell and cheer ⌠but not for both actors on stage.Â
âGet her! Kill the pirate!â was the first of many outbursts to come, and it wasnât so bad. Children have called out during performances before, and it was pretty typical for them to root for the hero rather than the villain. âKill the tiefling!â was what made her freeze, and the other actor too, the two staring at each other with their swords crossed as they listened to the hateful calls. Cries of âFoul-blood!â and âKill her, before she takes your soul!â were a few of the jeers that she could make out before the orphanageâs caretakers decided to step in and quiet the children, likely realizing the horrid things they were saying.Â
That was the point that she decided to demand the director, the troupe leader, to let her perform as her true self for ALL her roles. In response, the director decided to give her a choice: either she could willingly let him use her body as he pleased in return for better roles - or she gets kicked from the troupe. Without pause, Yvâette tore her contract in two and stormed out of the directors office, immediately packing up her things and saying goodbye to her fellow actors. When asked why she was leaving, she simply stated something had come up back home, and she needed to return to her family. She didnât have the heart to tell them the truth.
With her brother preparing to move to Elturel for higher training as a knight, and the possibility to become a Hellrider, Yvâette refused to move back home in fear of disappointing her parents and becoming a burden when she should be a successful adult at that point. Instead, she used what money she had left from her actress pay to go from inn to inn in various towns and cities, trying to find a solid paying job that either didnât under pay her - or blatantly told her they didnât hire foul-bloods. On her last leg, Yvâette meets a elven woman named Tilly one night at a tavern, and after drunkenly telling the bubbly woman about her situation, Tilly tells her a bit of info that will eventually change her life: Tillyâs uncle had left her a merchant ship to her in his will. She had no plans on using it and was debating on just selling it, but Yvâette could have it, so long as Tilly was allowed to come with her on her travels.
âWe could go treasure hunting or do some mercenary jobs and make money that way!â Tilly had said, excited as ever. âWe could find more people down on their luck, and make a crew for ourselves!â
And thatâs exactly what they did. Gathering folks from various parts of Faerun, and even further out on Toril, Yvâette managed to become the captain of her own crew by the age of 22. Drow, dragonborn, harpies, half-orcs, githyanki, kobalds - she has at least one crewmate of every outcast race out there. She wouldnât really call them pirates, but sometimes it was just easier - plus it intimidated people more.
The night before her 25th birthday, Yvâette had the most vivid dream sheâs ever experienced. In that dream, she stood nude in the middle of a body of water - an ocean? A lake? River? She wasnât sure, as it was dark and foggy, barely enough moonlight shining through the dark storm clouds above her. In the waking world, it was less than a minute to midnight, and the ocean waves felt restless as they began to crash against the ship. In her dream, Yvâette felt the urge to raise her hand towards the ever-darkening sky. Despite being soaked from the water she stood in, and though the air felt chill even within her own mind, she reached her left arm upwards to extend her fingers towards the electrically charged clouds.Â
The clock strikes midnight, and in a flash - quite literally - lightning erupts from the clouds above her to strike her index finger. A burning pain shoots up through her arm and to her chest, even reaching up to her eye, as she bolts awake in her bed. Clutching her arm and squeezing her eyes shut from the phantom pains, Yvâette lets the now-calm waves rock her back to sleep once the pain resided.Â
In the morning, her crew would ask her why her left eye was a different color. She would have no answer.
In a tenday, her crew would ask her why there were black markings beginning to form around that eye and at the tips of her fingers. She would have no answer.
In a month, she would ask herself why she couldnât use magic anymore - why could she not call upon the Weave? Her, the successor to a long line of storm sorcerers? She would have no answer.Â
In fact, no one would have an answer. Not only could she not feel the Weave, the Weave couldnât affect her, either. No wizard, sorcerer, cleric, warlock, or druid would be able to identify the cause of her issue. The only answer anyone could think of was: a curse. A powerful one, too. Whoever cursed her made it so that magic was ineffective on her, and vice versa, likely to ensure that no one could figure out how to cure it. So Yvâette decided to leave it be, though eventually the growing markings were becoming a concern, and so was not being able to heal or be healed by anything other than potions.Â
Thus, her crew had a new mission: find a way to break her curse. Or at least, find someone who knows how to.
It's a shame that a rogue nautiloid happened to snatch her off her own ship before they could.
---
And here's a TL;DR bullet point list of notes on her:
As a kid, loved to run around the city with her brother Vekyll with other kids, namely ones who didnât have a home or were bullied
With white hair being very rare on tieflings, Yvâette was often verbally bullied and made fun of by other kids, even other tieflings
Growing up, she loved to participate in theatrical showcases whenever the opportunity arises, and eventually joined a traveling theatre troupe when she was old enough
Unfortunately, her childhood bullying didnât end there, it seemed. Though she was talented, she was told she didnât âlook the partâ of many of the protagonist or love interest roles, and was required to cast disguise spells on herself during performances to that of a human or elf
The only time she wasnât required to disguise herself was when she played the role of a villain, or other antagonistic/evil caricaturesÂ
Eventually it whittled down her self-esteem and image of herself as both a tiefling and drow - not fitting to typical tiefling beauty standards, and not being âdrow enoughâ to be welcomed by most drow either ---
While growing up, she was fascinated by paintings of women draped in fabrics, joined by equally beautiful men or women, all painted with such a divine eleganceÂ
The thing is, all those paintings were usually of humans or elves or assimar, perhaps the occasional satyr. If she were lucky, there might have been a drow, although those paintings would have more haunting tones, but were still beautiful
However, none of those paintings featured a tiefling in the role of the divine maiden or the handsome knight. They were always the devious villain with ill-intents, depicted trying to tempt or harm others in the scene
As a result, she's incredibly insecure about her appearance and how others perceive her visually ---
Both her parents are worshipers of Eilistraee, and thus she grew up as a worshiper as well. However, over the years she began to loose faith in almost every 'god' out there, since none have protected her from the traumas and misfortune, and figured they favored her brother more, just like their mother did
Time to time she'll pray to a god specific to a situation, such as Umberlee and Talos during her pirate days
During her journey to Baldur's Gate, once she reads the texts of Illmater within the Open Hand Church, she begins to feel something toward his teachings, especially after having to deal with her companions' burdens
I do plan on her eventually coming back around to worship Eilistraee again, maybe once she's cured of her curse, or something of the like ---
For romance, I legitimately can't choose between Gale or Zevlor, so i said - fuck it! Throuple. I feel as though Gale and Zev would really understand each other, what its like to be 'abandoned' or 'betrayed' by the god you devoted yourself to
Yes I know Gale is very monogamous, and I respect that. I, however, think he deserves TWO loving partners who dote on him wholeheartedly
The ship name for her and Gale is "Shockweave" and for all three of them its "Hell Raisers"
In a more non-canonical storyline/AU for her (despite her already being not canon, but y'know), she ends up siding with Raphael and eventually falling for him, fully knowing he can't 'love' back (but i beg to differ, imo, but i wont get into that here lmao)
In the timeline where she sides with Raph, I'm leaning toward her becoming a devil herself as a method of defeating Hyde and ridding herself of her curse / her mothers' contract
---
Some misc things about her:
Before her magic was suppressed by Hyde, she was exceptional at Lightning magic - thus I gave her a lightning motif/theme. Her brother has a Thunder motif, together making them the "Storm Siblings"!
Proficient with finesse weapons (namely a rapier) and also flintlock pistols! Also crossbows, namely hand crossbows
Her rapier is enchanted to absorb lightning, both natural and magical, and fling it back at her opponents in either a strong single line, or a swooping range attack, depending on how she swings the rapier. She calls it The Lightning Rod, and her pistol is Shockwave
Tried to sing once as a kid, since Eilistraee's teachings encourage it, but embarrassed herself pretty badly and refused to sing again afterward, especially after her brother did much better than her. Even though she might be better now as an adult, she still refuses to sing around anyone, and rarely ever sings even when shes alone. She still loves to dance, though. I can also see her taking up piano or flute as a hobby
If it weren't for laws, she'd be fine with going topless often
She and her brother have fluffy tail tips! Though, shes a bit insecure about it, as in the past kids would make fun of it and call it a 'cows tail'
Wears a sharp, slightly curved blade at the end of her tail to aid her both in battle, and to hold onto the ship posts when she uses her tail to keep balance when climbing/walking them (and to also hide her tail tip)
Enchanted compass tattoo on her right arm, which unfortunately stops working when her curse begins
Full-spine tattoo of a sea serpent that wraps a but around the base of her tail, to commemorate her crews first victory over one
In the AU where she becomes a devil, I like to think her 'ascended' form is sea-serpent-like, and her hair morphs into a storm cloud
Alcoholic; she lessens up on it during the events of BG3, but dives right back into it after finding out about her mothers contract
---
of course she's still being work shopped and such, i mean fuck just between writing this up i changed a bunch of things about her from beforehand LMAO
id love to know your (or anyones) opinons and by all means PLEASE ask me more about her or my other DnD/BG3 ocs

Yves also reminds me of balalaika from black lagoon. I could imagine that some of his body scars and previous face scars would look a lot like hers. Also the vague mafia vibe that Yves has sometimes reminds me of her too. (The video âBalalaikaâs revengeâ on YouTube captures this perfectly). The way they have that very lithe feminine flirtatious vibe but also the way they can become so cold and ruthless also makes me see parallels too.
Roberta from the same show also reminds me of him in some ways due to the extreme before and after in terms of their lives. Now sweet person utterly dedicated to their loved one but also carries a horrendous past that they wish to keep from their loved one. Like UGH could you imagine Yves darling somehow, by literally divine unluckiness, despite all that he has done, somehow gets sucked into the more dangerous aspects of his life/work through a series of unfortunate events? I can see him going through a similar kind of turmoil Roberta went during Robertaâs blood trail. I mean like the anger, the rage, how apologetic heâd be towards the reader, the tears, all that trauma finally boiling up to the surface that once more. It would be really bad DAMN!!
Holy fuckin shit anon yeag omg i watched balalaika's revenge and MY GOD does she have that essence, like DAMN i was like looking thru her wiki n shit
Roberta too, but like yves just isn't like full of trauma about to explode, he managed to convert it into something else that powers him and he controls it all
Thamz u 4 ur thots tho , i appreciate it anon â¤ď¸

Hiya! I love ur account and all ur posts and I was wondering if u could do some hcs on tex (Another character by S.e hinton) and Dallas being brothers? It's for a fic I'm attempting to work on lol and btw I hope u have an amazing day/night! <3
Thank you so much anon! I hope youâre having a lovely time as well <3 Iâll admit Iâve never read Tex, so this is gonna be fairly short as all Iâve learned came from the wiki article -> here Also, if you ever wanna send me another ask on anon, just let me know your the Tex Anon :)
Ok so quick thing; thereâs two boys; Mason McCormick and his stepbrother, Tex
Age wise Dallas and Mason are the same age whereas Tex is 15
Tex and Mason live in some part of Tulsa county and have a few horses. Masonâs father (Texâs stepdad) leaves them home for months at a time while he tours with rodeos
So Iâm gonna say Tex and Dallas had no idea they were related
Mason was reading the paper on day, there was some mini article about two stupid hoods (Winston and Shepard) that got caught having a drag race and subsequently got arrested
Thatâs when Tex realizes the resemblance between them and starts to ask around since it is a possibility that his mother had another child before coming to Oklahoma
Skip a few weeks and they head into Tulsa for whatever reason, maybe to talk about horses or whatever, idk and get chatting with my favourite man, Buck Merrill.
Word gets around town about two brothers asking about Dallas before he takes matters into his own hands, and corners them after Buck calls them back into town
Tbh thereâd probably be a lot of butting heads between Dallas and Mason
Obviously it would take Dal some time to warm up to the idea of having a little brother
For my sake letâs just say this is after the book and Dallyâs đŤđŤđŤ wasnât fatal
And Mason isnât too cool with the idea of his brother being related to a criminal
And Dallas feels like he has a sort of claim to Tex, being the only biological family he has
So! Lots of possibilities for Angst if thats up your alley!
In the book itâs explained that Tex has a scar on his eyebrow⌠and if Dal got đŤ but didnât dieâŚ.
Tex and Dallas bond over their scars, making up stupid (and way cooler than what actually happened) stories about how they got them
Also, hella protective older brother Dallas
Since Johnny is dead and Ponyboy is traumatized for life
Dude is not willing to lose anyone else
More angst possibility!
âŚ.. maybe Mason and Dallas come to a begrudging understanding after Tex gets hurt? Maybe on a horse at a rodeo or after being with Dallas when he gets jumped or something? Maybe?

hiii, i came across your blog from someone who drew a comic for ur itto GenZ! god fic(the shakira shakira one) and i just want to say that i love you and will continue reading through out the week to avoid spam liking. also regarding you asking about travelers character profile, i checked the wiki and its confirmed to be 'the keeper is fading away yada yada' so i dont think you have to worry about isekai just yet. Hope you're sound of mind and perfectly fine!

Wksjejjekekrkd!
Thank you ! Glad to know I dont gotta triple check when crossing the street ! Gotta avoid those trucks.
Rea is literally so talented, the comics they make are so entertaining, Im always scrambling over to their blog to see if anything popped up. So nice as well, my goodness. I really recommend their content. 11/10.
Im so happy you like my stuff, I love you as well đ¸!
Its totally fine if you spam like, it honestly makes me really happy to see when people binge through my stuff! (Im planning on writing more no worries, im just focusing on my last semester for a bit before i graduate, Then imma be a writing machine!)
đ¸And yeah, Genshin has been WAY nicer to me since writing for SAGAU / playing the game with that mindset. đ¸
I keep getting the same acheivements multiple times (i checked fam,) way more foods then possible from Barbara, Jean, and the others, and my artifact hunting had been significantly better when I vocalize exactly what I want.
I was actually farming for Hutao a bit ago and I said verbally âayo Teyvat I need a crit rate headpiece and substats,â and it GAVE ME THAT! Immediately??? Except it was Lavawalker so like I should of specified đ.
Also crits happen way more often when I acknowledge them, aksskjsns. I use my cursor to give then headpats bc (im emotionally unwell lols) and i swear that i see them smile- like d a m n. Im waiting for them to just up and talk to me at this point.
Ive lost 50/50s to Diluc like 2/3 times now? Idk. I dont even use him and honestly im feeling bad cuz i see him as one of the people who worship The Divine One way more then a lot of the other people, so its like, damn, maybe i should acknowledge the poor dude.
đ¸Anyways, I hope you are doing well anon! Please remember to hydrate (dang im a hypocrite i should go do that) l
And try to get some good sleep, oki??? Stay safe friendo, its a crazy world out there.đ¸

hiiii im binging yogs stuff but i thought maybe this time instead of watching the stuff ive already seen for the actual millionth time that maaaybe i might be interested in What In The Hell is actually going on with strife and parvis sooooo
as the appointed parvill person in my mind, what all do i need to track down? blood + chaos of course, but is there something i should see first? after? i want to go DEEP so solo stuff thats still foundational definitely counts if u want thank u<3 and anything u wanna promo bc i enjoy your lore even out of context hehehe
also while im here (dont do asks a lot) i LOVE your art specifically you are probably my absolute favorite artist when it comes to creative and beautiful lighting composition and when you talk about symbolism it makes me feel Insane (the tweets expanding on your dancing pieces come to mind) ok byeee have a nice dayâ and thanks so much
anon this is so sweet ur gonna make me fukcing sob at 4am !!!

thank u for the kind words i love doing lighting so much im glad ppl notice ;;;;;;___;;;<3333333 ur too kind idk what to say i blow u a kiss anyways before watching blood and chaos id watch solutions in chaos! its just. the prequel. thru strifeâs pov on chaosville. very dumb shenanigans shows how they meet, 10/10 fun editing, lighthearted in comparison to blood and chaos which is not much bc its 2014 minecraft roleplay LOL but you get the idea.Â
heros of mine is parv and martynâs series that happens parallel to b&c! fun dynamic i love those funky boys. Â strife solutions is strifeâs solo series happening at the same time as well. gigacraft is uhhhhhhhhh area 11 lore i guess idk its been awhile theyre wack and the eps are unlisted so u gotta go on the wiki to access them. idk followers lemme know if im missing something important
ALL I CAN THINK OF WHAT TO PROMO RELATED TO LORE is if u like the blood magic parv does and wanna do it urself go boot up 1.7 modded and read the sanguine scientiem cause theres LORE!! AND ITS GOOD!!!Â
also i talk about my canon divergence domestic parvill au with scarlet and stuff but dont go in expecting anything sweet like my content, the series is obviously very cheesy old mcyt rp, but looking at it with a more a serious lens their character relationship gets kinda yikes, my content is au and not canon for a reason :âDÂ

hey alice! iâm the *new suna stan* from before lol
thanks so much for the hcs!!! i enjoyed them a lot â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ i was also wondering, what would be managerâs dynamics with the rest EJP Raijin? Would it be the same as her dynamics with Inarizaki? iâm super into this world that you built in hyogo i cant even hahahah i also imagine what kind of friends manager has in uni and basically her whole journey to healing from her past đ i hc that sunarin probs gets jealous of some uni guy friend of manager for some reason or wtvr because jealous suna is *screeches*
do u have 𼨠anon already? if not, may i be ur pretzel anon đđđ
awwww, pretzel anon it is! hello and welcome~
Honestly, those stories were half-made and half based on the real-life experiences of family, friends, or students of mine.
Soooo her relationships:
UNIVERSITY
Since it was a new town, she definitely took time to get to know people. However, a few people remembered her from her days as 'Inarizaki's Fox Keeper' players, ex-managers, and fans. She made a group.
However, her constant remains: Inarizaki seniors, Miya twins, and her family.
Also, her therapist's child just happened to be a senior at her university so they became friends. It was through him that she heard of an on-the-job-training/internship with EJP Raijin.
Some clubs tried to ask her to be their manager, but she kindly declined, wanting to focus on her studies first. She was, however, a consultant.
She befriended a few of her neighbors - each, from differing colleges and interesting backgrounds.
Suna doesn't have to worry much about her friends, because that one friend is Asexual, and the rest are in relationships.
EJP Raijin
The first person she befriended was Murase-san. Actually, her full name is Akira Murase, 7 years older than her, and was really good with PR. However, she's heard of Reader's reputation and was happy that she actually considered doing her internship with them.
When she added that she can speak 3 languages: English, Japanese, and her native language, that's when Murase-san decided then and there that she'd be her favorite person.
EJP Raijin team is....hmmm, I would say a mix between Kamomedai and Itachiyama. I'm saying this because I'm trying to recall my experience teaching students there (an actual school btw, or was it a university)
Also, as of writing I'm looking at the Wiki page of JT Thunder and wow, since I'm basing the team off them, the inspiration team is pretty reputable.
Anyway, they're all generally nice, competitive, passionate, and abnormally tall.
The team are nice enough and warmly welcomed her, taking an immediate liking to her after sharing her analysis on the team's play and points they could improve on.
Some of the players are family men, so they treat her like a daughter. Some are single men, who tried to hit on her, only to receive her poker face and cold stare. And some are foreign nationals trying to fit in and adjust, who usually cling to her almost immediately because of how she can understand them (think back to the scene with Aone).
Suna gets jealous at that, sending them cold stares and blocking them so hard during plays to the point that it was frustrating. But the rest of the team get a laugh out of it.
When she graduated university, it was honestly her own decision to work for EJP Raijin. And how could she not? The pay was good, as was the environment (after two years of interning with them), and she loved the thrill of the game. Also, she was dating one of their players.
The owner of the club has also taken a liking to Reader, which is why they got a discount when she and Suna were buying a car.

(part 1) ur gonna roast me for this but im legit curious why mafia AUs are so bad? im asking in a non confrontational way, i get it romanticizing mafia is wrong, but i also believe that 1)most mafia AUs are a really toned down type of mafia;2)they do make for some interesting kinds of dynamics with fanart and with fics; 3)in a fic specifically u can create your own world and call something mafia and still make it so they don't kill innocent people but only idk members of other gangs or sth
(part 2) plus theyre a way to put ur charas in a completely diff context and see what theyll do. i mean i dont believe that writing ships in a certain context (like mafia) equals romanticizing that context. mafia AUs arent even my fav things to read (in fact i almost never do), im sure many ppl romanticize it and i obvs dont agree with that but im just trying to udnerstand bc i believe fandoms are a way to explore things that we normally wouldnt.
Iâm not gonna roast you donât worry xD okay wait let me check if I replied to this already if yes Iâm gonna c/p because itâs half past midnight otherwise Iâll just go at it again wait *checks tags* fff obviously I donât have a general post but anyway pls read this after youâve done with my post and then this which is also choke-full of links. plus for a (not nice) laugh: here. AH WAIT I FOUND THE POST.
okay, so, letâs have it out of the way: I have nothing against mob aus or crime aus. I have a problem against calling them mafia AUs because in the US mafia = organized crime at large, in Italy mafia = ACTUAL EXISTING ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE ACTIVELY HARMFUL. now that I introduced the topic Iâll c/p you the reply I gave to another anon who while discussing the issue pointed out that most writers donât even know Italian mafia is a thing, which is pretty much on the same discourse so...
*The thing is - in the US it might not be enough of a deal anymore and I honestly do get why people make the mafia = regular mobsters, since the mafia was the first foreign organized crime being exported to the US via italian immigrants (sorry if this sounds horrible in English but I just woke up and I still didnât have coffee) so I understand that mafia became the umbrella term. But the thing is that - as you said, these people donât even know that thereâs a mafia in Italy anymore or where the word comes from.
Iâm going to link to italiansreclaimingitalyâs tag about the mafia and its perception outside Italy because they posted about this extensively and itâs an excellent resource, but meanwhile Iâm gonna do a very short bullet point list and about the topic:
Mafia might not be a big deal in the US, but it still is here. We have the beauty of four different mafias (Cosa Nostra - the Sicilian one, camorra which is the one in Campania but has tendrils spread everywhere, the 'ndrangheta which is in Calabria and the Sacra Corona Unita in Puglia) which are all active [especially camorra and 'ndrangheta] and whose actions have direct impact (negative) on our economy and on our society. Actually mafias are one of the main reasons weâre currently economically fucked up, and if I start talking about how mafia culture keeps some areas literally backwards I could talk about it for three months.
There are still people who are killed for standing up against them. These days the most prominent personality is Roberto Saviano who is a writer who dared to put together a book documenting minutely the way camorra works and heâs been living under protection for years by this point. Like, they want him dead because he wrote a book. And Iâm sorta sure that he was talking about leaving Italy and going to the US after years of sticking with it here because he canât take it anymore but I donât know if it was a taken decision or if itâs still debating it.
It wasnât even thirty years ago that we had the stragi di mafia - in english itâd be something like the mafia slaughters, basically around the beginning of the nineties there were a number of bombs planted by the mafia targeting people who were trying to oppose it including judges Falcone and Borsellino, actually the anniversary of Falconeâs death is like... tomorrow. And theyâve killed people for way longer than that. Here is a list of only Cosa Nostra victims including the ones from the eighties/nineties. And people are still dying because of it. The slaughters Iâm referring to are just the ones in the nineties which are enough of a number.
They also perpetuate a culture where if you testify against your mafia-employed relatives youâll be shunned forever. There are women who testified against their families and couldnât see their children anymore never mind that they werenât automatically considered a relative anymore the moment they sided against the mafia. Some people have committed suicide after becoming witnesses also because our police force/justice system can be terribly non-supportive in this kind of situation so they got left on their own. Never mind that back in the day - it was the beginning of the nineties? - I recall at least a particular story of - I think, correct me if I remember wrong but I canât remember the names for the life of me - where this guy testified against the local mafia when he either used to work for them or was forced to pay them the pizzo and in retaliation his six-year old (or five? Anyway he had a son younger than ten for sure) got kidnapped, killed and thrown into acid to dispose of the body. That happened in what, 1993? 1994? Itâs pretty much yesterday. And now the camorra is doing the same - thereâs a list here of camorra victims among which accidental passerbys that got killed because they were in the way which I can tell just by glancing is not complete. And Iâm not even going into the 'ndrangheta. That is to say, here mafia still kills people and cripples our country.
Now, I get that itâs a word, but the point was: letâs say that instead of the Italians the Japanese came to the US first and the umbrella word for organized crime was yakuza rather than mafia and letâs say yakuza was still what it was originally in Japan while in the US it stopped being a big deal and people write yakuza!AU instead of mafia AU. Letâs say someone Japanese gets angry at that and goes like 'listen the yakuza is a real deal it does this this this and that and itâs a plague in our country so can you please at least look it up before writing your fanficâ, which is what had happened way back then when this whole mafia and fanfic thing blew up. A bunch of people told us to get over it because itâs just a word and if itâs a problem in Italy itâs not in the US so why should they care? Now, if we had been Japanese (or Chinese or Russian or Mexican) would they have said the same thing? Considering the general tumblr attitude Iâm pretty sure they would have received either an apology or 'this is an important deal letâs keep that in mindâ with signal boost reblogs and stuff.Â
Itâs the fact that we should get over people not knowing that itâs still a real problem for us and that they canât take five seconds to google it that is the problem imo. Especially when instead of mafia au you can just say mobsters au or tag it as organized crime and everyone is a lot happier, mostly because as the tag above explains romanticising the mafia is a good thing for them because it means they can act outside Italy with less stigma because everyone thinks that the mafia is dead or not relevant anymore, if Iâm explaining myself. (And itâs active outside Italy - like, there was a mafia kill in Germany in 2007 where six people died (sorry the link is in Italian but there isnât an English wiki page, if you look the city up youâll find something probably) and it was because of the 'ndrangheta.
Iâd really like to not get worked over it because it meant it was a thing of the past y'know, but the problem is that it isnât and Iâd rather spread some awareness in hope some of these writers look it up (because itâs a good thing that people know what mafia is since as stated they have tendrils everywhere - if you read Savianoâs book the entire first chapter is about how camorra regularly deals with Chinese import/export in Italy for one) than shrug and figure that since theyâll think everything is good for fanfic then itâs not even worth my time.*
Now, ^^^ that was the c/p-ed reply that should answer most of your doubts. What I didnât address was:
im sure many ppl romanticize it and i obvs dont agree with that but im just trying to udnerstand bc i believe fandoms are a way to explore things that we normally wouldnt.
aaaand as we say here in Italy, this is where the donkey falls (sorry we have weird sayings), because in theory thereâs nothing wrong with that... except that in 99% of the mafia aus Iâve seen around the thing is that theyâre supposed to be cute.
like, I see a lot of shit with TINY MAFIA BOSS STEVE ROGERS with RUSSIAN ENFORCER BUCKY (????? bucky isnât even russian???) and the yoi thing I saw before had the japanese character being the leader of a russian mafia gang which is... like... guys it doesnât happen it really doesnât, and a lot of them re-use wrongly terminology taken from the godfather without context or knowing what the hell it means, and itâs always from the criminalsâ pov and theyâre somehow seen as criminals doing justice where the police canât (???) and like... no. mafia bosses/enforcers/employees are bad people period, and at least here if you try to leave or repent they kill your family in retribution. like, not even ten years ago thereâs been a woman who used to belong to a mafia family (or one colluded with the mafia) who testified and her entire town/family shunned her and she couldnât take it anymore and... killed herself drinking acid if I donât recall wrong. itâs not even special cases. this shit is not funny, itâs not cute, itâs not adorable and itâs not good fodder for your imagine your otp scenario (srsly I saw one like.. let me find it,
LIKE. just look at this shit. in a regular context, the enforcer goes to the show owner to force them to pay a monthly sum to their boss lest they destroy their shop and their lives and their familyâs life never mind that mafia culture is deeply homophobic so the mafia enforcer flirting with the shopkeeper is like completely fucking out of the question. I mean, people here like to shit on the sopranos but that show was actually excellent representation of Horrid Criminals Who Were Never Supposed To Be Good People and the small arc that happened when one of tonyâs friends turned out to be gay (closeted) was REALLY well done. btw, it ended that when they found out he was gay most of the crowd rejected him and thought badly of him until I think they killed him also for other reasons, but that spiraled from finding out he liked dick. and thatâs american mafia that they actually based on well-done research of the culture in Italy it came from, I assure you that here it doesnât work that differently. like. the shit above is so inaccurate and frankly offensive, itâs like... I get people romanticizing problematic stuff but the thing is that when you tell them that itâs actually offensive you get brushed off as âah well youâre being too sensitive itâs just a word u__uâ. now, Iâm all for exploring shit we wouldnât be into, but not like THAT, because thatâs like mafia romantic comedy and thatâs not how it works. now, you wanna do a fic where the mafia characters are deeply flawed and bad people and the police tries to catch them? fine, great, go ahead. you wanna do a fic where the enforcer above deals with dunno an entire life of internalized homophobia when he finds the shopkeeper attractive and feels conflicted over having to con money out of him and doing horrible shit for a living and maybe understanding that crime isnât worth it and then he actually collaborates with the police and gets shit from about everyone he knows and loves for that? okay, awesome, go ahead. nothing bad in that.
but the shit above is not exploring things we wouldnât/writing darkfic, itâs THINKING THAT A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION WHICH IS STILL A THING IN OUR PART OF THE WORLD IS CUTE AND ADORABLE. and that only plays in their favor because it takes the bad aura out of the word and we really should not let that happen. like. that is what is bad about mafia aus and mafia discourse, that people donât realize the mafia is alive and well and thriving and not a thing that doesnât exist or a generic word for organized crime.
you wanna write the shit above? okay, CALL IT CRIME AU or mob au, not mafia au.
btw, add-on: idk if I mentioned it in the above post or not, but in case I didnât, I said that people would balk at the idea of a mexican cartel au. sadly since then Iâve found out a fandom where not only there is one but itâs also extra cutesy and people apparently love it and it has a bunch of kudos/comments and idek Iâm not even touching that with a ten foot pole but like... Iâve avoided it and everything that author wrote because to me itâs just... nope. like, nope. if you do mafia aus donât make them fucking cute. (also: in the same fandom I had to mute a v. famous fanartist whose art I actually liked but did cutesy mafia aus and.. like... haahahhaahahahahaha nah sorry. canât go there. nope.)
