helloooooo :)) sliding in with a generic marvel-esque vaguely criminal organization landoscar au with background lestappen because I am nothing if not predictable

Oscar is their resident poison specialist (he makes new poisons, tests them, makes antidotes, etc. for the organization to use). His preference is plant based poisons, like belladonna and nightshade, because he graduated college with a botany degree and therefore has a lot of knowledge about them that he can put for use. He spends most of his time in his greenhouse full of toxic, beautiful plants that he tends too very, very carefully. They’re his babies.

There’s a whole backstory involved with how he came to join the organization that involves him accidentally killing his college roommate

Lando is a former gymnast turned espionage guy who also does theft on the side for funsies that works for the organization. Like vaguely cat woman-y? Obviously he’s super flexible and super good at his job because duh.

His favorite hobby is breaking into Oscar’s greenhouse via the windows and watching him work. Oscar is super fascinating to him, and he’s enamored with how absolutely brilliant this quiet, stoic boy, with maybe five facial expressions total is.

Lando sits there and listens to Oscar ramble about his complex science things. He doesn’t understand most of it ngl, but he loves the way Oscar’s face lights up when he goes on a long tangent about the chemical properties of cyanide and why it’s superior to arsenic.

Also sometimes lando brings Oscar random pretty shiny things that he stole that he thinks Oscar might like and leaves them on his desk, kind of like a crow. Oscar keeps all of them in a box under his bed. He looks at them when he feels down (he doesn’t tell lando that)

Oscar is equally obsessed with lando but this is already wayyyyyy too long so 😭 you just gotta trust me on this one

And then eventually, the rest of the people in the organization pick up on the growing landoscar feelings situation. Alex and George give lando a bunch of (loving and caring) grief about it. A bet between them is born. “$50 lando is too chicken to confess to Oscar by the end of the month”

Yada yada time skip a week or so and lando and Oscar FINALLY do something about the tension between them one night late in Oscar’s greenhouse, lando freshly back from a mission. Boom they kiss and then lando, being the idiot that he is, as soon as they pull apart, goes “lol George and Alex owe me $50 now”

Cue misunderstanding trope. “Oh you only kissed me for a bet?? You don’t actually have feelings for me 😔 I knew it was too good to be true.”

Lando realizes his mistake but Oscar’s already out the door, disappeared into the night.

And then Oscar gets kidnapped by the enemy 🤗 because he’d normally be more aware and vigilant and stuff but his emotions are really going through it so. The ransom note comes through the next day.

Gonna leave it on that because otherwise I will spiral into a full blown fic when I already have too many wips to finish

I know that you’re not a children person so sorry for this one but it’s the only place where I can dump my thoughts so yeah.

Idk why I’m in a baby mood and I know that I need only one encounter with a kid for it to pass but nvm. I can totally see Lando and his girl becoming young and unplanned parents. One day she’s just like “fuck Lando. We’ve got a…situation?” All in all it’s alright. They are the best parents the can be and they have a lil boy or girl. But I imagine Oscar keeping his distance from the baby and sometimes even avoiding them so that Lando won’t encourage him to hold hold the baby. And Lando asks one time why the hell does he act like that and Oscar just panics and is like “Mate she’s the smallest person I’ve ever seen what do you mean why don’t I want to hold her? She’s so fragile and a length of my thigh and her fingers barely can close around my one. It’s stressful okay?” Lando just laughs at him because this guy has three younger sisters but is stressed about holding an infant for a minute

please i can see that so well!! oscar leaving every time one of them walks in the room with the baby until finally lando jokes about how he’s avoiding them. oscar just being scared of how tiny she is!! it takes so much reassurance but eventually lando and his gf are sitting on either side of oscar and getting him to hold their baby for the first time. his hands are a little shaky as lando passes the baby over, but he’s so gentle and immediately is cradling it’s head to support it and his eyes soften as he sinks into the couch and he coos, “hi little baby.” he just sits there falling in love with it and is like damn maybe i need a gf i kind want one of these?? like a mini me?? damn. that might be nice.

i fully believe after that he’d be just as obsessed with the baby as everyone else is. like the next day he shows up with a ton of mclaren baby merch with his name and number and is like “okay so as god father i thought it be important she rep my name and number.” and lando is cuts him off and is like “god father?? you avoided our baby for the first sixth months of her life. also she’s my daughter. she wears my number.” and like idk what max fewtrell does but if he’s there he’s also butting in, “excuse me, i have been god father since day one ?? i was literally at the hospital while the baby was being delivered. i was one of the first to hold her once they were accepting visitors.”

I feel the exact same way when I see people use “girly pop” or “babygirl” or the 💅 emoji when what the really are insinuating is f*g. I see it wayyyy to often on other social media sites. the mclaren article is weirdly worded but i have to say that i really don't get why people are shitting on lando for it? like he was talking about the team's and the car's development in that part, and he's absolutely right too

monza 2021 was a fucking miracle because the mclaren car (and team) has been shit for a lot of years, and daniel (and lando) outperformed the car by like 500% that weekend. now the car is good and it is probably the first time in five years that they're actually continuously close to the other race-winning cars so yes, they are getting closer to winning races

It is weirdly worded because it made it seem like they'd never scored a win in the last five years. And likely, Lando was mostly talking about himself—sometimes boy runs his mouth before deciding on the nuances of what he's saying. But anyway, it's likely that the implication of the erasure of Monza 2021 is what's rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

And I don't speak for anyone but myself, I just have always gotten this vibe that Monza 2021 felt like such a fluke to a lot of people. There are many who discredit that win by saying that it wouldn't have happened if Maxy and Lewis hadn't crashed out. There are others who will say that it should have been Lando's and would have been his if team orders hadn't prevented it. There are others who will say that "all Lando does" is "whine" for team orders. Idk. I just got here. People will believe what they're gonna believe.

It's true that many people will blindly hate on him for every single thing he says, and that's led me to blocking a LOT of people tbh because like you said, it isn't that deep.

It frustrates me personally as someone who loves Daniel first and foremost, and also loves Lando, to know that McLaren is central to that friendship, both for good and for bad.

I've seen people who have said that people need to stop babying Daniel about his time at McLaren for a whole slew of reasons, stop acting woe is me, etc etc. But also like it leaves me uneasy because Daniel—PR-trained up the wazoo, almost pathologically non-confrontational—outright saying that he no longer wants to talk about his time at McLaren, coupled with Simon saying that Danny was "hollow" after he came back to RB. . . it's like. How bad. How deep does this shit run. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we know.

Then flip it over to Lando, who LOVES McLaren. Loves it. Is loyal to it. Carries the team colors with a pride that I only see in one other person on the grid (Charles). He wants his wins to be with McLaren. His devotion only pales in comparison to Charles because being papaya army isn't as religiously-tinged as being Tifosi seems to be.

SORRY I JUST FULLY WENT ON A TANGENT HERE!!!!! Anyway!!! back to your point. Yes Lando's right that this is the best the car has performed in a while. Two P2s this year after that incredible upgrade. If RBR wasn't as insanely powerful this year with their rocketship rn, we'd for sure be seeing really fun battles between Lando and Max. Hell, throw Oscar into the mix too, the way the McLaren has been consistently performing these last couple of races since the upgrade.

2023 season predictions

with the risk of me being a clown by the end of it, here are my 2023 season predictions. i tried to keep it tame, but I'm also delusional and a tifosi. Tinfoil hat on, rant under the cut, because it got long.

The WDC will be decided between Max, Charles and Merc (if they manage to get a better car this year). Things are uncertain at Ferrari with a new TP and their strategy department, so it will probably be between Max and Merc in the end. I'm saying Merc because George is good (when he doesn't apply what he learned in merc school of shunting people off the race track) so Lewis will probably forget all about "being a better teammate" and use phrases like "idk why George did what he did" when all George did was to win (and outpace/outqualify him). Merc will use team orders to get Lewis that 8th WDC (ngl i want him to get that 8th wdc). George will learn how it is to be a 2nd driver at merc and will commit crimes.

This or Max wins everything again and we're doomed for another RBR supremacy but not fun because it's not Seb. Yes, I'm very biased, what of it?

Max will get engaged. We won't get rid of Kelly Piquet, unfortunately.

There will be team orders at Ferrari. Charles would get more confident. We will get more porn couch videos and sexy ice baths to wash over the fact that their strategy is shit. Their engine will actually be the bomb, but it won't matter because the team does not what it takes to win. Charles will start hinting at future plans that do not involve Ferrari. RIP the little monegasque mouse. He will get a new girlfriend as well. The tifosi will storm Maranello probably.

Lando will get his first win. I hate Mclaren with a burning passion and Lando is an insufferable brat, but even I want to see him win. Oscar and Lando won't like each other.

Fernando will get a podium with the green tractor, will commit many crimes against Lance because no one fucks with Nando, not even the nepo baby.

Things will go well at Alpine in the beginning. They have a good car and manage to be in the points. They even manage a podium or two, and they will remember they hate each other and it will be hell. Can't wait.

Nico H. and K-Mag will murder each other and will not get into the points and it's what Haas deserves. Do it for Mick, boys.

Daniel gets to drive in Las Vegas. Checo will suddenly get sick and Daniel will drive their rocket ship ~(not in LV but sometime during the year) and actually get a win for the first time in forever (if RBR don't use team orders, which they will).

Will Checo be in his villain era? We will find out.

Mick will drive in FPs and he will drive so well and everyone will realise it wasn't him but the car. Fuck Steiner.

No one cares about Sargent.

Alex Albon gets his first win (much deserved - looking at you, Lewis). So does Nyck De Vries.

Nothing to say about Alfa Romeo. They are wholesome wholesome wholesome. Or Valtteri retires.

Everyone will be incredibly tired by the calendar is too packed and they hate it and they want Seb back. FIA will come with more outrageous rules or won't respect them. Pierre gets a warning each race because they hate him.

Last but not least (i did say i live in delulu land) we get Nico Rosberg back in the paddock. We get Nico and Lewis talking We get Nico and Jenson interactions. Seb goes AWOL. Luna will cry herself to sleep.
