If you had Art as a partner and you were down in the dumps—as in not getting a shower, not brushing your teeth, feeding yourself… I’m not so sure HOW useful that murder clown would be. He’s… not exactly the comforting type.

I think his language of caring for you in that regard is just being there for you. And, well, not killing you. Tucks you in at night when you’re asleep. Tosses packaged snacks at your head from a distance across the room. He’s not gonna make you shower or brush your teeth though—the man prolly usually smells like he comes out of the fucking sewers when he’s not smelling of blood, viscera and death. So that part is gonna have to be all you, I’m afraid.

But hey, sometimes when he kills someone he’ll bring you back a trinket or a gift to show he thought of you! Tucks it in with you when you’re sleeping that night. Might be a bit blood stained, might not. Lil stuffed bear or bunny. If you’re even into stuffed things. And if you’re not, too bad! You’re getting it anyway.

A lot of your depression is something you’d have to fight on your own with meds and/or therapy or just rawdogging it out, but Art’s at least there to be with you throughout it. I’d like to think his willing presence alone counts for something.

1- yin/yang

very obvious. “he is my yang”. recognizable and iconic. Two opposites which bring harmony. self perpetuating cycle of two interconnected sides.

the self perpetuating part is very important. it has always been established that they have a push and pull for everything, because they relish in the other’s reactions and its almost instinct. it all started this way too, their upbringing puts them in a very strange position slash relationship. they “balance” each other out — rather,, they teeter on a tightrope keeping them entertained and enabled . they are sides of the same coin, and complement the other. they always have a quick witty quip ready for the other’s petty insults, so so predictable. they dont keep harmony and peace between them, more so a light to keep them going similar to a smoker lighting cigarettes over and over again (insert the 10000 arts of wil lighting his cig with Qs light and vice versa. my fave ever) its close to an addiction, they need each other to keep running and flowing in the most unconventional ways they can find. if you look carefully, they are always circling enabling balancing each other

2- fire/light/burning

i like the metaphor of cwil being under the spotlight of people's perception .. sure, its cool to finally be able to see and interact with people but Q is different. he isnt and never will be afraid of wil. he is only "unpredictable" to him. freakishly enough this is also entertaining to Q. what will he destroy next? graffiti next? say next? do next? he cant help himself but to react. wil on the other hand will do anything to get a petty reaction from Q, to get his precious eyes on him that makes him burn in the light. tearing each other apart then rebuilding each other is an important component of their relationship me thinks

3- president/vice president

usually, i tjink this is a concept used to try and dethrone the other of their humongous egos and get that feeling of a win lol its all about reaction

their relationship is so interesting and weird because of the fact they wanted to over throw the other in politics — i dont think you see two POLITICAL rivals have that homoerotic tension often … anywhere! but i think its so funny that they became a version of the other further down the line (menace -> president, president -> menace) and it also goes back to the yinyang, over time and under certain conditions one can become the other because the other will always be present in the other. (like yin contains yang vice versa)

if anyone remmeberes there was a certain point over on ctnttwt a handful of people were crazy for cannibalism ctnt go read whispers of blood and love. recently its become a not too uncommon/pretty popular characteristic for oc ships etc. of course its usually metaphorical in (ctnt) art and sometimes written but the act of giving yourself up completely to another to become a part of them goes pretty well with the psychology of ctnt/the game they play so i very much see the vision when people use this concept to depict Wil’s “devotion” (i guess? idk Refer back to ‘I am your servant’) to stay w Q in order to keep feeling that feeling of being “alive”.

it also goes hand in hand with quackitys want for power over people/things from beinng deprived of it in his earlier days. biggest stretch ever but also his capitalistic ideals to consume consume consume. and wil is willing to give him that opportunity because it is beneficial to him as well. horrible mutualism psa guys dont eat your boyfriend

So I have a shit ton of Twst fankids btw! They kinda swim around in my brain but only a few ppl I know have gotten the info dumps lmao

They’re my older Jamiazu kid, I do have two. The younger one is my octo boy Akram :) he’s funny I wanna pinch his cheeks but he’s not the point here

So Skye! It feels weird publically infodumping abt my OCs like wtf am I even supposed to put here

They’re a half mer, which do work a lil different than normal mers in my lore. Half mers can transform without a potion but it’s still a long and generally painful process, esp going from mer to human. I kind of switch between calling them a snake mer and a naga but there’s lore there- Nagas exist in my lore outside of sea snake mers, there are also fully terrestrial Nagas. So the terrestrial nagas wouldn’t be considered snake mers but the sea snake nagas would be a type of mer while also still being a naga ITS CONFUSING DONT ASK (actually do. Ask everything so I can roll more of my fankids out like marbles)

Skye was created by a spell, I haven’t quite worked the details out 😔 but Jamil is part gorgon in my lore which is why they have the hair snakes which isn’t a typical naga trait. And to elaborate on the hair snakes: they are alive, the one w the bigger stripes is Flora and the smaller stripes is Jett. Skye can communicate w them telepathically and their eyes glow which is kinda neat. They’re kind of Skye’s version of floatsam and jetsam (unless u count Rico (florid) and Lilac (treyjade) which is like their ver of the twins- IDK ITS COMPLICATED)

idk what else to put here so LETS THROW SOME FHARACTER DYNAMICS YEAH and also mentioning some of my other fankids! They all have profiles (except my Malleus kid I’m sorry Aihan I can’t think of a design for you) but I’m probably gonna save those for another post-

So jamiazu in my lore live in the Shaftlands in a beachfront place and also live pretty close to Treyjade, however Florid live in the Queendom. The octatrio and their spouses is a close group so they’re essentially a big family. My treyjade kids are Maren (older) and Lilac, then my Florid kids are Rico (older) and the twins Mary and Eliza.

Skye saw Lilac more as a kid cuz they lived so close together but also saw Rico a lot when flrd would visit or they’d go to visit them. Rico is an agent of chaos and Lilac is Skye’s 2nd in command so their dynamic on a surface level is pretty similar to the octatrio, but there’s still a lot of differences once u get into the meat of it. Tho Lilac and Rico are Skye’s best friends and basically like siblings to them.

Outside of jamiazu Skye is particularly close with Jade, they share a love of tea :) he’s their cool but also slightly unsettling uncle

THEN THERES SHENZI- Shenzi is my younger kaliruggie kid and I am not gonna get into her here bcuz she rlly needs her own post w all her trauma but good lord these two do not like each other. Shenzi’s really nice but she’s not quite as nice as Kalim so after about 5 months of trying and failing to befriend Skye in their freshman year she just gave up and now their relationship is nothing but hostile (which was not helped when Shenzi and lilac started dating)

Speaking of that tho- so my idikei kids :) Ember (named after the pokemon attack) is the older one and he’s basically that “Jock idia can’t hurt you he’s not real Jock idia:” thing as a person he has the Fire hair n shit but he plays basketball and is heavily extroverted but no one gives a shit abt Ember this is NOT ABT HIM this is abt his sister! Her name is Zelda because you know Idia would name his daughter Zelda- she got all of Idia’s social anxiety lmao. She’s extremely shy and there’s a total of like 4 people in the school she can actually talk to without melting into a small stain on the floor. She’s an Skye are both in board games club and sometime in early freshman year she falls on her ass and knocks over a bunch of stuff which Skye happens to witness and cue the most awkward interaction known to man bcuz Skye can’t talk to pretty girls and Zelda can’t talk to ANYONE but they end up walking to the mirror hall together afterwards which becomes a routine. Except they’re both awkward as fuck take like almost two fucking years to get together bcuz neither of them are gonna do anything abt it BUT THEYRE VERY CUTE!! I love them

Pronoun check! Nickel - he/him, Suitcase - she/they

Note! This is only going over remarried Nickcase (the post show, made up, most of my art of them, healthy stuff), S3 "Nickcase" and them dating in S2 are a whole other beast (I think I've written some posts on those I can find them if asked)

The basic idea for their relationship post show to me is getting to know each other, getting to have an actual bond. Because they never really knew who the other was, "we don't really talk." And they both at different points deeply wanted that, and now they're in a place where it's actually possible given time.

If I had to give a title to remarried Nickcase, it'd be "to be known"

They're very much a slow burn and Suitcase takes the lead in their relationship. (Is it still a slow burn if they're exs and one of them in love and the other is slowly falling for them again. Idk that's besides the point) They're fell first fell harder but who's who depends on how ya wanna define it.

They got together on a camping trip a year or two after S2 ended 👍

Now, some things I think they like about each other

Nickel: Suitcase just all around fits his type. She's a sweetheart, silly and warm colored. I also think he'd like her confidence

Suitcase: Nickel's actually a really good partner to Balloon from iii16 and onwards so that's definitely something. They like cringefail men and he is the cringest fail. I also think they'd be endeared by his love of nature. They generally find him a charming weird little fella.

For both of them they just enjoy each other's company, they'll talk for hours about whatever.

I imagine their flirting to be kinda similar to Nickloon's, ya know the banter and all. But less intense, softer. And none of the joking insults and stuff.

They're ND4ND which I think my friend Max does a great job of exploring that in this comic. They also like info dumping to each other <3

They're pretty private with their relationship, romance wise at least. Not super big on pda, unless you count Balloon to be the public lol

And lastly I do wanna say they don't work in a monogamous context, mostly just with Nickel being higher energy then Suitcase in a way that doesn't always match up the best. They very much need Balloon and Baseball for this to actually work.

so i haven't really had much time 2 develop headcanons/don't really have the most solid hcs but!

i think june is an ambulatory wheelchair user who has a cane on better days. she's got chronic pain, and flying sometimes helps with soothing that too! i think june's gender-fluid and agender and just picks gender based on how she feels!

rose has arthritis, i don't know enough about the kinds to pick one specifically but!

i think dave's definitely disabled but i cannot pick any specific one. he is disabled and bigender in my heart and soul

I FEEL LIKE IM JUST DUMPING A WHOLE LIST AT YOU BUT. jade is narcoleptic (i mean that one was canon for a bit but. whatever)! she also has bec as an unofficial therapy dog, i think they would like training him in her free time and would have taught him some therapy dog stuff based on online resources

ARADIA CHRONIC FATIGUE. that's one that i'm pretty solid on actually.

this one isn't a headcanon but tavros wheelchair user. maybe ambulatory, maybe not, but i see art of him with no wheelchair so much it's a bit :/.

nepeta has POTS, and vrisrezi have their canon disabilities! i dont have any specific hcs for vrisrezi

someone asked for karkat with a BTE hearing aide a little while ago and i really like that HC (i think it is in the queue) so that 2!

i think dirk would also have arthritis which makes working on his mechanics stuff a bit difficult sometimes, hence his gloves, and occasionally he asks for jakes help with especially difficult things.

in my mind roxy has chronic illness. once again idk which one! but

jane POTS too.

my HCs change all the time because i'll forget them or change my mind or something but shrug. this is what i've got for now!
