i’m still undecided in which agency member i believe will be transferred to the port mafia, but i would like to expand on the possibility of it being dazai, because concerns seem to be growing by the hour.
firstly, i would like to draw attention to these official arts, as i find it very curious that dazai is wearing his port mafia bandages in conjunction with his agency attire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this isn’t an isolated instance, it seems, so i’m wondering what the reasoning for this is, if not to allude to future events. (apart from referencing his past in the port mafia, but i'm trying to see this from the other perspective.) it feels very intentional on harukawa's part.
there is also the case of potential foreshadowing in the osamu dazai and the dark era light novel.
“…dazai’s capabilities are astounding. i’m sure in four or five years, he’ll have killed me and taken my place.”
these are words spoken by mori to odasaku while he is recruiting him to locate ango, taking place when dazai was eighteen. if this were to be a correct prediction, then it would place him at around twenty-two or twenty-three at time he gained the status of leader.
if provided the opportunity, surely mori would retrieve such a valuable asset?
Tumblr media
many dispute this due to mori forcing dazai out of the mafia, but the reasoning for that makes quite a bit of sense when you take into consideration mori’s values.
mori believes that, as leader of an organization, you must devote your very being to maintain stability.
“mori ougai’s belief as the boss is…“the boss stands on top of the organization, and at the same time, be the slave of all.” for the sake of the organization, the boss must always take the “logical optimal solution.” that is the duty of the boss. there is an unspoken additional point to it. therefore, no matter how much your heart aches, you have to ignore your personal feelings.”
asagiri for the bsd exhibition
despite being his protégé, it doesn’t seem that mori felt dazai to be the perfect fit for leader during his time in the port mafia. this is due to dazai being overly emotional.
mori was able to suppress his emotions, whereas dazai let his emotional responses dictate his actions. this is exemplified by him changing course in life after odasaku’s death, done so in the name of keeping a promise to his closest friend.
while mori certainly regrets losing his subordinate, he is able to set aside his own reservations toward the loss, the outcome of which results in him gaining a gifted business permit. this is the “optimal solution” he sought after. dazai, however, could never justify sacrificing oda for the sake of a permit, hence the feelings of betrayal he’s fostered towards mori in the years since. while he understands why mori did what he did, he cannot disregard his own emotional connection to odasaku.
in the present day, however, dazai seems to have developed this ability—to remove the emotional aspects from a situation, and choose the most logical course of action. this is seen throughout the most recent arcs. for example, possibly sacrificing himself in meursault, directing akutagawa to save atsushi at the risk of his own life, etc. weighing the risks and the rewards, and choosing the most viable option.
Tumblr media
(even if mori doesn’t choose dazai, there's the possibility that dazai just might volunteer himself for the sake of his coworkers. his self-sacrificial tendencies have been quite prevalent as of late.)
while dazai wouldn’t have been a preferable candidate in the past, he has matured since, and mori has realized this, with him keeping dazai’s executive seat open in the event he wishes to return. actually, i think this was quite intentional on mori’s part—similarly to how dazai manages shin soukoku, mori likely forced this for dazai’s own development.
another detail worth noting is the way in which dazai’s eyes have been drawn in the more recent chapters. as we know, harukawa depicts a character’s progression and alignment through their eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the recent chapters, dazai has been portrayed with an obscured eye multiple times. this is indicative of his port mafia “demon prodigy” persona being utilized during the chess match against fyodor.
there is also the concern of dazai’s crimes being made public. as it stands, while the agency is sure to be absolved of all charges, dazai’s crimes are separate, which isn’t particularly an easy fix.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ango has done it in the past through the use of mushitaro’s ability, sure, but seeing as dazai has literally staged a prison break from supposedly the world’s most secure ability user detention facility, i’m not too certain that this would be an effective method of clearing his criminal record.
this doesn’t cover all of it, either. there is quite a bit of foreshadowing within the anime to support this theory, but i have reached the photo limit on this post, so i will leave that for others to cover.
if you’ve made it this far, i applaud you. thank you for reading!!!

All i want to say is thank you for what youre posting about this whole situation with matty and taylor. I personally think your responses are well thought out. Sure matty makes some really really bad choices in what he says or does and even acts etc. But that doesnt make him this evil person, the narrative people are trying to push.
I mean after all taylor did choose to be with him whether thats a relationship or friendship or whatever it may be. And if shes happy why start petitions to remove him from tour when clearly she wants him there. Yes i get he is problematic but thats not for fans to dictate who she spends her time with. There is no reason ANYONE should receive death threats, especially family members that have done nothing. We get so caught up and forget that celebrities are still people they still have feelings and they do take things to heart, so people saying they hope he OD's or relapses? That's is pretty messed up in itself.
The amount of hate he is getting is ridiculous, ive seen different articles and comments and whatnot contradicting each other on what and why things were said. But immediately we all jump to cancel someone, i agree if it was done in malice intent why would they still be a band? That is an excellent point. Honestly everyone is up in arms because shes dating someone who yes, does tend to be problematic. Should there be someone from their team (the 1975) to comment on the situation? Maybe, but that also could make things also worst. Noone knows for a fact what went on. Yes theres proof of him saying this but also no factual proof of him actually doing so, if that makes sense. Yes, joking or not, should not had been daid period.
Another point is if you do watch interviews, hes a different. He is into satire and you can tell. Not trying to make excuses for what hes said. Joking or not some of the things he has said he probably shouldn't have looking back, but you cant go back in time and change it so whats the point of dwelling on it. He also said he doesnt know himself and hes not going to form this idea of him because then every question or statement becomes a nightmare in interactions.
Long rant short, just thank you for standing up and speaking out. Yes these sites should be taken down and quiet honestly if people would focus their rage there instead of in threats there could be a difference. The fact they made these site so accessible and posting them. Thats the issue. This whole situation was bad from the jump but again desth threats and bashing on peoples careers, cancelling them... its not it.
Sorry!! Took a bit to answer this one bcs it was long 😅
Thank you, I've been thinking this through for the past few weeks (or so it seems to me), so I've had the time to construct my thought and opinions. And I was going to try to stay out of it because I thought/felt that getting into any discussions will just fuel the topic further while not getting through to people who have already condemn everything Matty does and Taylor alongside him.
But the level of horrible behaviour has reached its peak for me when I heard about death threats being sent, people saying they hope Matty ODs (ffs that one was very vile to read about), the open letter to Taylor was also a step too far for me (esp signing it as if it is the thoughts of the entire fandom), and then initiatives that people who go to specific shows turn around and not look at Taylor while she sings (I've heard second-hand about this BUT this would fuck with the entire show not for Taylor but for EVERYONE who is at that show)... basically, I just felt like if I don't say what I think it seemed as if I was agreeing with all of it.
I think it all comes down to some form of critical thinking, and also thinking for yourself. I have seen a lot of people parrot half-truths, repeat information which has not been true (from Matty liking nazi jokes - which I haven't seen evidence for, to some ww2 memorabilia comment which is false, and people also trying to spread shit like he is a pedophile or smth vile like that)... And it leaves this weird feeling in my brain, this whole outrage and cancel culture. Lowkey feels like tame public executions 😂 and I say this with utmost sensitivity.
But to me the world has come down to people actually actively waiting for someone to fuck up so they can do some symbolic online lynch and cancel them. Hashtags instead of pitchforks, cancellation instead as metaphorical death of a celebrity.
This situation with Matty (and I will focus more on him because Taylor really is the catalyst but she is very secondary to the discourse; or she should be)... but the thing with Matty proves that you can do a lot of positive shit, and you can say a lot of supportive things, and you can show through both your art and actions that you are a decent human being (flawed but decent) ... and none of it will matter if you do something that "the people/public" disagree with.
It ends up formulated as you being fake/performative because you are not constantly adhering to this morally perfect picture expected of you. Matty is clearly not perfect, he has clearly messed up on multiple occasions BUT he has also talked about important issues from what I've seen.
Sidenote: I have watched that interview with Zack Lowe (I think?) and it is very insightful and gives a nice perspective on the way he thinks.
But none of this matters because people (specific groups right) have already decided to treat him as if he has done the worst things imaginable (I maintain that all he should really be accused of is ongoing insensitivity and not finking things frew; iykyk... and like if that's an issue we can just be like yo Matty that was not chill pls don't and that ahould be it).
None of it matters because when you try to talk to people about the other point of view you end ip blocked or given the same "proof" you've already seen (but it's like a different compilation or a new thread or another copy paste article).
None of it matters because no one is ready to recognize that Matty is not anti-semitic, racist, islamophobic, or generally a bad human (all of this based on the gift that my hyperfixation is which has enabled me to consume so much info on the man and the band in the past weeks)... I maintain that for condemnation on those counts you need proof of continuous and purposeful behaviour with malicious intent.
And it would actually be much better to discuss his fuck-ups (which I believe he has accepted he will have, thats what I got from some interview I watched)... anyway, it would be much better to discuss his fuck ups in the context of those specific fuck-ups without pulling out heavy artillery of -isms, -phobics, etc.
....... ok I wrote a shitton lets wrap up
I went off on a tangent here, but I think we need to be realistic. As, I've said if Matty truly was all of the things he has been accused of the band would be no more, the fandom would not support them at all, there would be massive public condemnation, he would most definitely not be hanging out with A LOT of people who seem normal - unless I guess we are going to subscribe to the theory that eeeeveryone is a horrible fascist person (Taylor, Jack, the entire 1975, Gigi, Phoebe, Bo, Ryan, etc etc... I guess now Ice Spice is in the mix of people "collabing/hanging out" so lmao let's add her to that mix).
In general I think people use "heavy-words" too much in these online discourses which in retrospect dims their impact, yknow. Like is Matty insensitive edgy and has he said things that likely should not have been said/done? Yeah, like newsflash every person is flawed and literally for every person saying he is a nazi/racist/phobe/etc bet if I had as many recordings of them talking about various issues - I would be able to cherry-pick some shit out.
Anyway... people will stay mad, and people will stay believing that what they see is the ultimate and only "real" truth (while also knowing that they have only been privy to a small percentage of those peoples lives).
And when it comes to Taylor there has been this most fascinating thing with her - people just LOVE to watch her fall from grace. There is somehow nothing people enjoy more than having "proof" that Taylor is not this perfect good girl "she portrays herself to be", when all along it was the people who have put her on a damn pedestal and treated her as some perfect human being who can do no wrong.

I do agree that expressing the opinion that wishing Laudna would stay dead is neutral but I'm noticing that a few of these takes are coming from people who tend to not talk about her or enjoy her. And as an older person who's been around the block a few times, this is more than a bit irritating as it's a trend that's not uncommon in terms of fandoms preferring mlm and m/f shipping and male characters over female characters. It's something that should be thought about when discussing this.
Tumblr media
I want you to understand that this message is very much typed through gritted teeth and that I have turned off anon again for the next while. I am not only more than done with the abuse from people who think that sadness over a fictional character death excuses their behavior; I am done with the people like you, who are wringing their hands and saying "well, there could be fault on both sides", particularly the ones who can't even say it with their whole chest.
I am a queer woman in her 30s. If you are younger than me, you are lecturing the wrong person about How It Used To Be. If you're older than me, you should, frankly, know better than to send something like this.
Here's what you haven't seen from me, and, while I don't know for sure, I suspect a lot of the other people with a significant following who have expressed an interest in Laudna staying dead (incidentally? most of whom are also queer women, because the tumblr fandom skews heavily in that direction): a shitload of anon hate that I, at least, have been IP blocking to great effect.
I've been on Tumblr for roughly a decade in various forms, I've had anon turned on the vast majority of the time, and I've been called a cunt on anon more times in the past four months than I have in that last near-decade, and exclusively in the context of people not liking what I said about Laudna or Imogen and Laudna. I have openly said I don't like FCG or Molly, I repeatedly said Molly should stay dead, and I in fact stated prior to this episode that regardless of my issues with the previous episode that I hoped at least one death (nonspecific, though, cards on the table, of the three who died, Fearne was my favorite), and I've never received anon harassment from the Molly or FCG fans.
I have literally gotten the argument that saying I preferred Fjord to Laudna was sexist. This is idiotic, and dangerously so; sexism is an institution, preferring one male character to one female character is nothing more than a personal preference, and hiding behind a shield of faux oppression because other people have different tastes is abhorrent.
I don't think going into anyone's personal feminist bonafides is going to be productive here, so I will also say that last campaign, I found that fans of Beau who did not ship her with Yasha were frequently vile towards Ashley; more recently, they were pretty awful towards Laura for having Imogen decide to be angry towards Laudna.
This is not coming from a place of feminism or a desire to see female characters or F/F ships. This is an unhinged refusal to accept that other people prefer other characters and actors. And, you know, for a time, I made the same excuses you did - that Keyleth and Marisha received immense volumes of hate in Campaign 1. Here's the thing: Campaign 1 ended five years ago, and even if it was still ongoing, nothing excuses the behavior I have seen very specifically and uniquely relating to a small subset of fans of Marisha's characters.
The kindest interpretation I can have from you is that you truly are only seeing a small portion of what has been going on, and in your deep ignorance thought you were providing a helpful perspective. However, regardless of intent, you were doing anything but.

hey! every now and then i've seen random posts about sebastian's comment/s on colin kap kneeling among other things, but i've never seen any source material or hard facts. do you have any posts about this or deconstruction of your own? i'd be very interested, ty!
Hey yourself😉!
So I've found the screenshot of the post (at the bottom) and just so you know he also posted an apolology but that one I couldn't find a screenshot of.
There are plenty of posts talking about this but I think most of them are old so it would take some time for me to find them.
If you want my opinion. The whole thing was f*cked up and I remember being extremely surprised and unfollowing him after that post.
And he did apologize, which is good and I do think he understands that that post was not great, but it wasn't my main issue.
When the whole story with Kaepernick happened it was a real eye opener and exposed a lot of racists even among celebrities. I'm looking at you Christopher Meloni. But not only him.
So Colin Kaepernick was to kneeling to protest against police violence and racism.
And a lot of people reacted like a lot of White people react when the topic of racism arise: deny everything and get defensive "How dare he protest blablabala" "He's so rich and he's saying White people are priviledged..." "How dare he say there is racism in this country". You know the usual.
But the thing is to me, the way he protested was the most respectful, and most peaceful way to protest and also so impactful. And some people had still a problem with it...I don't understand how ANYBODY could have a problem with it ... unless they were racist in one way or the other. That was the bar for me... I could not have respect ANYBODY who had a problem with him kneeling, because their message was clear “just sh*t up and play football”.
To me, anybody who had a problem with Colin Kaepernick taking a knee... was automatically problematic and the worst.
For other forms of protests there can always be arguments against it, lousy arguments, but arguements nevertheless: "They're blocking the streets" "There was violence during the protest",... etc... But what is your argument with having a man kneel during the National Anthem, to call out something as serious as police brutality.
To me it was clear that they just wanted Black Americans to shut up, and stay in their lane. "Sports have nothing to do with politics blablabla"
And unfortunately history proved Colin Kaepernick right, and I don't think anybody could voice bad opinions about him today, but at the time, a lot of people were criticizing him, calling him names, insulting him, and even some celebrities were talking about how disrespectful he was.
They cared more about the way he was voicing his protest, than the fact that racism was a real issue.
And because of the protests last year, I think a lot of people tend to forget about that time, but Kaepernick faced A LOT of backlash, A LOT and for what....??? Absolutely no justification. With the way some people reacted you would have thought he burned the American flag on a daily basis, or used it as toilet paper.
So having that in mind, it was really disheartening to see an actor you respect take part in that...
And just to be clear, this is my personal opinion, but I don't think Sebastian had any bad intention with that post (not like other celebrities who were outright criticizing Kaepernick, for some reason I only remember Chris Meloni lol). But the timing, and the content, even as a joke, even as a promotion tool for his movie was extremely bad. You also have to understand the context, and how there were a lot of people rooting against Kap.
Worst case scenerio Seb’s post was racist and best case scenario it was tone deaf.
I can only assume Sebastian watches the news in the US, so he must have known what the caption "take a knee" meant and still decided to post it... So maybe he wasn't ill-intentioned, but to him the topic was light enough that he could post it on his social media...
My main problem isn't even with Seb's post, it was a weird way to promote his movie, or a joke I don’t know. Artists do problematic stuff all the time, and it's up to the fans who support them to decide if they keep doing supporting him or not.
My main problem was and still is the reaction of the fandom, where White Seb stans think they know and understand racism better than anyone else. And honestly this is not me saying that Seb is racist, this is me saying that we should be allowed to voiced our opinions without being silenced or accused of trying to villainize him or cancel him blablabla .
But the Seb stans don't understand that and prefer to turn a blind eye.
I make difference between stans and fans. The Seb fans are the ones who are willing to listen, understand why some people might be offended and admit that their fav f*cked up. The stans are the annoying ones who yould rather keep their head in the sand.
And nobody is even asking to stop supporting Seb... If I cancel an actor, I will stop consuming his content, supporting him, paying to see his movies etc... But I'm not forcing anybody else to do it... But I would like to be free to voice my dislikes especially if that actor was being problematic... without the stans complaining about how "I don't know their fave"
I haven't cancelled Seb btw, I just don't feel like finding him excuses and glossing over the words and if I think that something he did was racist, I will say that it was racist, not "problematic" or "tactless" or "clumsy"...
I think that a lot of people are confused about what racism is, and think it is only White Supremacists who want to harm all non White people.
But it's not only that and in my opinion, there are many layers to racism. If you have "nothing against Blacl people" but there is a part of you that believes you or White people are better than Black people, well you are racist... If not hiw would you describe it? I have already told this story, but I have a friend who swore she wasn't racist and we even had a big debate about racism, and a few weeks later, her boyfriend told me that during a family dinner, she had talked about a common Black friend of theirs saying "She is pretty for a Black girl"... But if you ask my friend, she will say she isn't racist.
If you try to silence people calling out racism, you are contributing to it instead of fighting it.
Another example, I received a lot of "problematic" comments at work from coworkers on my hair, my origins etc, but when I talked about it to my friends and said those comments were racists.. they said that I was "overeacting" that those comments were harmless or just my colleagues being "ignorant". But one time, I was done with it and I wrote to HR about it losting all the comments I had received and the HR director called me and told me that those comments were racist full stop, he didn't try to minimize it or act like I was exagerrating.
And that's how I see the reactions of Seb stans whenever something from him re-sufaces, like my friends who just act like it is nothing.
Just so you know you are not helping when you do that.
They act as if we're suppoosed to accept that because "it's not that big of a deal". Who told you that? How do you determine what is a big deal or not? Especially when you have never dealt with racism?
Fandom behaves as if people who were hurt or offended by that post were overracting. "It was a joke" "It was a long time ago" "He would never do somthing racist"
How hard is it to say " I can see that my fave did something problematic, or that what he did was racist, and I would still like to support him but I understand that people were hirt"??? How hard is it to continue to stan your fave WITHOUT trying to silence people who call out the behavior.
And also the way they refuse to use the words is annoying... it's always "I'm sorry if anybody was offended", never "What I did/wrote was racist and I know better now". If no one wants to admit it when they do racist stuff... nobody will never get anywhere... Like my friend who is convinced that she isn't racist but goes around thinking that White Women are more beautiful than Black Women, and even says it when surrounded by her family.
And people act like the people who were hurt have no reason to be hurt because he apologized, but I hope those people realize that it doesn’t work that way. An apology is great of course, but it doesn’t take out the hurt, or the feeling that if he was comfortable enough sharing this on social media, what is he comfortable doing in the safety of his close circle?, or remove the idea that maybe an actor you adored, and respected doesn’t view Black people struggles as a serious matter.
I personally don't hate Seb, far from it. And the reason why I have so many posts about him, calling him out or not, is that he is one of the very few White actors I'm interested in. I don't know him personally, but I enjoy his interviews with Anthony and enjoy his movies. But I'm not about to act like he is perfect like some of his stan do and also I have absolutely no issue with people who have "cancelled" him because of his past behavior, because I understand them and it's their choice, it's what works best for them... I don't want to force them to root for someone who maybe wouldn't root for us.
Last point, that I won't elaborate because I have already written way to much. There's a difference between people actively trying to be racist, and people who are racist and maybe don't realize it, or people who have prejudice but are working on it...
I hate it when White people act like the worst thing in the world is being accused of racism when the actual worst thing in the world is being racist. Because it shifts the conversation from... "Oh how can I improve myself and stop this racist thing I'm doing, or how can I work on this prejudice I have?" to "How dare you call me racist!!! I would never" all the while they continue doing the racist thing they do.
TL:DR: His Instagram post was f*cked up, and he apologized. And it's up to each person to decide if they still want to support him or not, but it would be great if thise who still support him stopped pretending that those whose don't are overreacting or had no reason of being offended.

Why do people keep coming back to Citrus?
Citrus is many things; adorable, heartwarming, gut-wrenching, problematic as hell, and one of my favorite yuri stories of all time. However, as much as I love it to death, it also happens to be one of the most controversial yuri manga out there.
People were initially drawn to Citrus when it first came out because of the "shock value" of the main couple being step-sisters (even though Candy Boy and Kuttsukiboshi already did this, but we don't talk about those, do we? 😊), with many assuming it would just be another exploitative fanservice yuri like many that came before. However, as the series went on, it not only gained its expected haters, but a surprisingly large amount of lovers as well. People praised it for the reasons I mentioned and others, while others criticized it for numerous other reasons. To this day, Citrus has, without a doubt in my mind, the most divisive fan base I've ever seen in a yuri manga.
Despite the divide and controversy, and the numerous legitimate problems the manga actually has, people continued to read new chapters as they came out and still do to this day. Whenever I visit the comments section on my (TOTALLY LEGAL) manga reading website, I encounter comments ranging from "OMG luv this so much best yuri ever" to "WTF this is abysmal worst manga ever Saburouta should be lynched."
Okay, that last bit might've been an exaggeration, but still, why do people, both fans and haters, continue to read this manga?
Is it because of Yuzu, her adorable antics and her undying gayness?
Tumblr media
Is it because of Harumin and all her... Harumin-ness?
Tumblr media
Or is it because of Matsuri, who is actually best girl and anyone who says otherwise can fight me?
Tumblr media
Actually, no. Believe it or not, I think the reason people keep coming back to this manga is because of the character who has been the source of nearly every criticism this story has recieved:
Tumblr media
(See this precious little smile? Enjoy it. It's like, one of 3 times she does it in the entire series)
Yes, Mei Aihara, or Mei-tron as she has been dubbed by many, is the reason people continue to follow Citrus. Now, before you die of laughter, please bear with me and allow me to explain.
Mei is a character who is hated by many, and loved by few. The few that love her claim her to be a fragile, misunderstood soul who just needs some hugs and kisses in life, preferably from a certain blonde. Those who hate her REALLY seem to hate her. They say she's a selfish, emotionless, brain-dead sociopath who has done absolutely nothing to earn Yuzu's unconditional affection. While I agree with both sides of the argument to some extent, I think the reason people are so split on her is because, in truth, nobody completely understands her.
Saburouta has done a wondrous job writing Mei in my opinion. She's essentially created an anomaly; a character unlike anything we've ever seen before, and this can be seen as both good and bad. But the main reason I think people are drawn to Mei is because of the universal question all Citrus fans are forced to ask at some point: "What in the holy name of the yuri goddesses is this girl thinking?!?!"
Look at this panel from the manga and tell me honestly. What is going on in that noggin of hers?
Tumblr media
Mei gives expressions like this all throughout the series, often featuring her favorite line: "......" (thank you @akceart over on Twitter for this joke 😘). They've spawned multiple paragraph-long essay length explanations dissecting and analyzing what she's truly thinking. The explanation varies depending on the circumstances, but the outcome is always the same: no one can come up with a definitive correct answer.
Among people squealing over Yuzu's cuteness and gushing over Harumin's fabulousness, the majority of forums and comment sections I've come across have featured these in-depth analyses in abundance. It truly baffles me that people are so dedicated to understanding the phenomenon that is Mei-tron, but I think that's all part of her appeal.
Plus, all this mystery makes the rare scenes where she actually does show a recognizable emotion so much more engaging. Case in point...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People can complain about Mei's character flaws all they want, but the fact that we still don't understand her completely likely means that, until Saburouta gives us an answer, neither the hate nor the love she receives is warranted. All we can do is wait as the story lives on through Citrus+ to see if we will ever get a true look inside the mind of Mei Aihara.
Until then, fans and haters, keep writing those college-length essays in the Citrus subreddit and showing your love and obsession with this character (whether its intentional or not 😉).
