“You look better in my clothes” for zen please 🥺
“Oh, my God.”
As MC stepped out of the fitting room, she looked to Zen eagerly for some sort of validation, some sort of compliment, some sort of affirmation.
Instead his lip curled up into a smug grin and he laughed, “You look like Jaehee.”
MC pouted and stomped her foot, and she could feel an intense heat rise to her cheeks. “I thought this would be appropriate!” she explained. “I want to make a good impression.”
Zen chuckled and rose up from his seat outside the fitting rooms in the department store. “It may be a C&R function,” he said as his eyes scanned her up and down, “but that doesn’t mean you have to dress like a robot. It’s a party! Even that trust fund kid can’t be that stuck-up....” He reached over and undid the top button on her blouse, exposing her collarbones. “That’s an improvement.”
“Zen!” MC gasped, and hurriedly she redid the button. “I still can’t believe I’m even going to this party. I want to make sure I dress appropriately.” Apparently, C&R was hosting a gala filled with businessmen and women from around the world, with guests from various industries. Therefore, she wasn’t surprised when Jaehee informed them that she and Jumin would be absent for the entire weekend.
However, she never expected Jumin to extend an invitation to her to join them.
“Many of these guests were at the last RFA party,” he informed her. “As the party coordinator, you should build rapport with them to help influence them to come to our next party.”
Maybe schmoozing with high-society folks was easy for him, but for an average person like MC...
The thought was hopelessly nervewracking.
“You seriously do look like Jaehee in that suit, though,” Zen commented again. “Let’s try a dress next, shall we?”
MC looked down at her blazer and skirt and couldn’t help but agree with him. She wanted to be formal, but she also wanted to show that she wasn’t afraid to enjoy herself. With a small smirk on her face, MC reached up to the bridge of her nose and pretended to push up her glasses. “Mr. Han.” She adjusted her voice to try to imitate Jaehee’s. “May I please advise you to refrain from starting any more cat-related businesses. I would like to be able to enjoy a night in for once, so that I can watch Zen’s latest DVD.”
Zen immediately broke out laughing, clutching his gut with one hand and covering his mouth with the other in an attempt to muffle his outburst. “Ohh, that’s rich,” he wheezed as he tried to regain his composure. “That doesn’t fit you at all, princess. Let’s find something better.”
~~~
MC stepped out of the fitting room again, this time adorned in a white sundress with pink and purple flowers lining the hem of the skirt. “Well?” she asked.
“Super cute!” Zen exclaimed, and he clapped his hands together. “You should definitely wear this on our next date.”
“Focus, Zen,” MC chided him gently. “I need an outfit for a gala.”
“Right, right,” Zen muttered, waving his hand dismissively. “Honestly, this looks more appropriate for a picnic than for Mr. Silver Spoon’s party. I could find you a matching sunhat--”
“Hyun,” MC began, and a shiver ran down the young man’s spine as his girlfriend uttered his real name. “Focus.”
Zen dipped his head and took a step back. “The master of beauty will lend you a hand,” he assured her. “I’ll go find the perfect dress for the occasion. Hang tight.”
~~~
“Knock knock?”
MC’s head perked up as she heard a familiar voice from the other side of the door. “Zen?” she called, and she cracked the door open a smidge.
A familiar pale hand snuck in through the opening, holding out a dress. “Try this,” he encouraged her.
MC carefully pried the dress from his grip, and her mouth gaped open as she looked over the garment that Zen had picked out for her. A floor-length, wine-colored, one-shoulder gown. It looked classy yet bold. Elegant but fun. The single strap holding up the shoulder showed that she was a bit flashy, but the length showed that she was mature, too.
Eagerly she slipped off her clothes and stepped into the dress. Up, up, she lifted it, and she could hear Zen humming outside her door. He must have been proud of his selection, judging from the cheerful tone of the song.
Finally she stepped out of the dressing room, and Zen’s song ended in a sharp whistle. “You’re stunning,” he breathed.
“I... really like this dress,” MC murmured. “You did an amazing job.” She spun around gleefully, giggling as the silky skirt spun about her.
Then suddenly she felt a rush of air whip her legs.
Curiously she stopped spinning, and she turned to look at herself in the mirror. “Zen, did you...” she murmured, “know about this?”
A slit ran up the right side of the dress, exposing most of her leg and going all the way up to her mid-thigh.
Judging from the guilty glimmer in his eye, he knew.
Judging from the flustered flush on his face, he still wasn’t prepared.
“Take that off right now,” he muttered in a low growl. “We’re finding a different dress. Before my beast comes out.”
~~~
MC couldn’t shake her sense of disappointment as she exited the store with her boyfriend, empty-handed. “We didn’t find anything,” she murmured sorrowfully. “I have no idea what I’ll wear.”
“Cheer up, babe,” Zen tried to reassure her, giving her a pat on the back.
“I’ll do my best-- oh!” The young woman gasped as they left the protective cover of the building. “It’s raining,” she whined. “Look, Zen. The sky is crying for me.”
Zen rolled his eyes and gave her hand a squeeze. “I may be the actor, but you’re the dramatic one,” he teased. “Here, it’s cold out. Let me give you my jacket.” He slid out of his large white jacket, and MC obediently stuck her arms out so that he could pull it over her body.
“It’s huge on me,” she laughed, flapping her arms up and down. “Look, I’m like a marshmallow. Zen?” She lifted an eyebrow at him. Almost as soon as she had put the jacket on, a deep crimson had blossomed onto his porcelain cheeks. “You okay?”
Zen tugged at the collar of his shirt and turned away, trying to hide just how flustered he was. “You know,” he mumbled, “I thought you looked good in everything today. But... I think...
You look better in my clothes.”
Fall Like Rain On Sunday, Pt. 2
They’d agreed to meet up at four in the afternoon after a quick run back to their respective apartments to shower and change out of their patrol gear, and Steph bit her lip as she tugged the towel a little tighter around her chest, wondering just what would be best to wear out. She’d asked Jason for an idea of what might be best, thinking he’d probably want to go clubbing (their usual whenever Dick and Kate were in town) or go to barhopping (Roy and/or Artemis), but he’d paused, giving her question serious thought as he stopped the motorcycle outside her apartment building.
“Honestly? Wear something comfortable to walk around in, if you’re up for it? I…wanted to do something a little different. Kinda celebrate the weather, y’know?” And she did know…He’d been blushing at that, sweet and shy and a little more school boy, a little less sexy asshole, and she’d hopped off and given him a kiss on the cheek, beaming at the butterflies in her tummy. “Oh…”
“Alrighty, that sounds good. Make sure you’re the same?” She almost asked, but Steph decided to add a little more weight to that one; ninety percent of the time, Jason would pull off his armor and change tee shirts, but otherwise, it was always the black/gray camo pants, the tan jacket, and a black shirt. Every. Single. Time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s hot as fuck, but I know damn good and well the man has more in his closet than just that. Jason had been a mob boss himself for a time, and she still lusted over the thought that some day, she might see him in the black and red suits…But for today?
Today was casual cute, for both of them.
“Deal, only fair. I’ll be back at four, okay?”
“Sounds good; are we going on your bike?”
“Actually, I had a different plan for transportation, if that’s okay?” She nodded, actually a bit relieved, and he beamed, then leaned in and kissed her, full on the lips…and oh, that made those butterflies burst into life all over again. She’d floated up to her apartment in a daze, and after a quick pause to do her dishes (just in case, y’know, she might have company later) and a shower, she’d put up her hair in a curly soft messy pony, bangs fluffed out and cute, then followed that up with some classic make up. A touch of mascara, a wickedly sharp wing on each eye’s liner, a brush of purple eyeshadow, then rosy red (because why not make sure he knew she was interested too?), then a soft pale pink to brighten just under her eyebrows.
Rose red lipstick completed the look, and she grinned a little, feeling vintage and sexy and cute, then strolled out, still in her towel, to peruse her clothes. After a long conference with herself, she was left with three possibilities. All were cute; all were comfy, and only one required a heel higher than an inch to look fabulous in. That one, the bodycon dress in deep amaranthine, she put away after a long look; it was super cute, but definitely more club than ‘about town’. She also decided against the denim short-shorts and purple crop top; not quite the look she was going for, to be honest, and as pretty as the shimmery crop top was, it might actually be too cool for today.
That left her with the dress she’d bought a month ago, and she smiled as she undid the buttons on the front of the bodice, pulling out a matching set of lingerie in dark red to put on first. She’d found it in a shop just outside the Narrows, and lusted over it for weeks before working up the courage to go in. Thankfully, the woman who ran the shop was from a similar background, and rather than most boutiques, who looked at Steph’s eclectic style and judged, this lady had helped her pick out the right size dress, a cute pair of kitten-heels to go with it, and even a shawl to match. Purple linen, with black polka dots, soft and cool against her hand, made up a lovely day-dress with a sweetheart neckline, fluttery cap sleeves, and a lovely, knee-length, full skirt. With pockets.
And it was easy to step into, sliding up her hips with a whisper of linen on her skin, buttoning with no gaping (which, from experience, Steph could tell anyone was a fuckin’ miracle.) Steph stepped into the matching heels, and gathered up a cute flowered handbag she’d picked up at the thrift store that rather accented her new dress, matched some studs to the color of the dress, and pulled the wide-brimmed sunhat out of her closet, giggling as she spun in her mirror, feeling cute and happy and just…girlish in a way that she’d never felt. Even when she was a little girl…
Thankfully, a knock sounded at the door, rapping in the familiar Bat-pattern they’d all been taught, knocking her melancholy out of orbit and Steph glanced at her phone. 3:58…I love a man who’s never late. She happily danced her way to the door, and when she opened it…Stephanie Brown froze, jaw dropping.
Because standing at her door, holding a bouquet of purple roses (and where the fuck did he find PURPLE roses, of all things?!) was Jason Peter Todd, looking as starstruck as she felt, dressed down in a pair of soft gray jeans that hugged his glorious thighs and ass, a pair of slightly battered red Converse, and a red cotton button down over a soft black tank top, buttoned up almost all the way, but left free on the last two buttons, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his shirt tucked in, wonder of wonders…She felt herself start to drool a little, and snapped out of it with difficulty, because UNF.
“Oh…Jase…are those for me?” He suddenly snapped back to himself too, looking absolutely adorable as he blushed and nodded.
“Oh, uh, yeah…Thought you might like these, given that your favorite color is pretty much a dead giveaway.” He grinned as she laughed, the ice between them melting once more into easy friendship, and she took the flowers, beckoning him inside as she pulled a vase out of her cupboard. She smiled to see him looking around with interest at her books, her game systems, even her tentative bits of crochet with the soft yarns she’d bought months ago, and still hadn’t quite finished.
“…See something you like?” He blushed, glancing up from reading the back of one of her fantasy books, and grinned sheepishly as she finished putting the last of her roses in their new home. They smelled so so good, and already were opening up, and she hugged her arms to herself shyly as she walked back to him. Jason shelved the book with infinite care, and his eyes seemed to warm even more, his smile creasing his eyes in all the ways she’d always loved in her fantasy guys.
“I do indeed…you look…God, you look absolutely amazing in that dress, you know that? It’s so fuckin’ cute.”
“You look amazing in that shirt and those jeans…I mean it!” He turned away, blushing at that, looking shy now, and she caught his hands in hers, blue eyes trained on his. “Seriously. It’s a good look.”
“…Thank you.” He murmured, smile returning to his lips, and she took a risk, rising up on her tiptoes to press a soft kiss to his lips. He kissed her back, just as soft and sweet, and Steph didn’t know if she wanted to go out after all; this was…this was really nice. Jason pulled back, though, and she sighed a little, making him chuckle as he wrapped an arm gently around her waist. “Believe me, babe, I hate to stop kissing you, but I did make us some nice plans for dinner, if you’re still up for it?”
“Oh? What might dinner be?” He grinned at that, so much more in his own comfort zone now, and nodded his head to the west, where the sun was starting to lower in the sky, just a little.
“Care to let me surprise you?” Steph smiled, and put her arm around his waist in return, scooping her handbag up again.
“I suppose I can, this one time…” She rolled her eyes and he laughed, letting her lock and close the door before guiding her to the stairs, and walking down them in time with her, which, given his longer legs, was definitely something she appreciated.
“I promise, you won’t be disappointed.” As they walked out of the building, Steph was surprised to see a nice, large red truck waiting for them, and Jason’s hand up into the cab was just as nice as the interior, though it wasn’t leather, thankfully, but comfy heavy cotton seats. Dark grey with white accents, made it look a little more typical while still appealing to his color scheme, and Steph wasn’t surprised to spot a very, very well hidden (but not if you’re a Bat) gun compartment just under the dash. He gave her a worried look when he realized where her eyes were looking, but she met Jason’s worry with a smile, and kissed his cheek.
“You know me, Jase; I’m not gonna lecture you.” Jason’s tension melted away at that, and he chuckled, turning on the truck and backing neatly out of the space.
“I should, by now; but I still…panic, I guess? Too many years of being lambasted by B.”
“Don’t I know it…but…eh, we both grew up here. We both know what really stops criminals.” She murmured, and he breathed an ‘Amen’ at that, his right hand gently squeezing her left hand as he drove them towards the livelier market side of the bay.
“Still, I appreciate your…I guess, kindness? Tact?” Steph just smiled, twining her fingers with his, and grinning a little when his big thumb began to rub circles in the side of her hand.
“Let’s go with understanding.” She replied softly, and he gave her a flash of a smile and a squeeze.
“Deal.”
Miyuki felt a little weird, not only being underdressed in front of Nagito, but also the fact he was acting so... Casual! She was still mad at him for breaking her trust twice and at this point she wasn't sure if he was being sincere or not anymore.. she wanted to believe he was..
She didn't speak, and after a while of letting him ramble he went back inside after seeing Kazuichi.
Kazuichi?!
She suddenly grew more nervous, backing into her cabin. "I-I'll see you later Sonia!" She said as she closed the door behind her, she was curious what he would have said if he saw her but she'd rather look her best!
Miyuki went through the closet to find something a bit different than her usual clothes, she needed something for the beach.. she wasn't going to swim but she wanted to look nice. She found a pretty white dress, it came above the knee which she wasn't use to and it showed off her shoulders and collarbone. It certain was pretty. Along with that she found a cute sunhat and white choker to match. She felt very cute and summery! Miyuki also decided to tie her hair up into long pigtails, to keep her hair from sticking to the back of her neck. She wondered what Kazuichi would think.. she wondered what Nagito would think...
Why did she care what Nagito thought? She still had feelings for him.. that's why..
Before long she left her cabin, she found a case to keep her Violin in and decided to take it with her. As she locked the cabin door behind her she headed to the restaurant to grab some breakfast. Akane was the first one to comment. "Who the hell are you?" She asked, genuinely confused.
"It's me... Miyuki Izumi?" She replied with a nervous laugh.
A few minutes after Miyuki left for the restaurant, Nagito left too, heading up the stairs, glad he could finally eat a proper breakfast. When he stepped in, that's when he noticed Miyuki, who still wasn't in her usual outfit, but she'd definitely changed.
"Oh, morning Miyuki, uh, again. Your outfit looks really nice today!" It really did. He'd never seen her wear so much white before. She was wearing a dress and a sunhat. He moved to sit at one of the tables where multiple plates of food sat. Not as good as when Teruteru had been here to cook for them, but still a nice meal regardless.
"Is there any reason you dressed up so nicely, or did you just feel like it? You should wear things like that more often. It really suits you." He told her, hoping his blush wasn't too obvious.
He felt the sudden urge to apologize to her, but with more people steadily flowing into the restaurant, it made him too nervous to say that. Maybe he could do it later.
From where he was sitting, he saw Kazuichi enter from the main door out of the corner of his eye. He glanced over at Miyuki and tried to smile, pretending like he hadn't seen Kazuichi.
"If you want, you should come sit with me. There's lots of good food here! It's important to eat well." He told Miyuki, scooting his chair over slightly. Still in his peripherals, he saw Kazuichi give him a dirty look.
Nagito looked to the side, trying to avoid the mechanics glare as he ate more food to distract himself. He saw Kazuichi approach Miyuki and say something to her that he couldn't quite hear.
"He's probably just trying to trick you. You can eat with me instead if you're not comfortable eating with him." Is what Nagito didn't hear.
Kazuichi couldn't help his expression as he noticed her outfit. "O-Oh! You dressed up really nice today, huh? It looks good."
aw Meg, this idea is really sweet and creative!♡for my aesthetic id say, iced coffees hand year round. a book always laying face down & open (ill get back to it in a bit!). fuzzy blankets, fuzzy socks, & fuzzy sweatshirts. driving around with the windows down listening to every genre of music. sunhats & sundresses as soon as it’s warm out, paired with red heart shaped sunglasses. movie nights & making popcorn on the stove instead of the microwave. enjoying the quiet but also the laughter
wanted to add a little more if that’s okay! always giving hugs & advice. tired but will always do what needs be be done. loves to plan but also spontaneity. sunflowers and roses. gold butterfly necklaces. holding hands and tangling legs together with a goofy grin. “you before me” & “im here and i love you”
thank you! so many ppl are complimenting this idea but really it was @/mooshys that thought of the idea fdlskf ty aurora happy bday :’)
i’m matching you with: hinata!
hinata would be the perfect guy to drive around with, making it a whole day thing where you wake up early in the morning to just drive around town and spend time together only to come home and end the day with a nice movie & popcorn night. he learns to enjoy the quiet between the laughter in these moments, looking at you as if you’re his entire world (and aren’t you?) as the sky darkens and your happiness glows. you go on a beach date the next day, hinata saying that he misses it from his days in brazil, but really half of it is just him wanting to see you all dressed up in a cute sundress. but still, he doesn't mind being at japan's beaches instead of brazil's, feeling a different sand between his toes. after all, you're here with him, and that's all he could ever really ask for.
MLQC: Victor
Victor x M/C
Sweet fluff
kiss
Summary: You decide Victor needs some real downtime and decide to invite him on a day out, It’s a surprise thanks for supporting you. He begrudgingly obliges you.
Word count: 3027
You agree to meet at a coffee shop near downtown. You're there early dolled up in a bohemian style white skirt to your calves and a loose fitting hemp blouse with a v neck and large sleeves, you have donned a brown sunhat and you have matching brown sandals on that lace up to your knees. Underneath it all you are wearing a swimsuit and you have lots of wood bead bracelets on your wrists but no other jewelry. You left your hair loose and flowing as that was the theme for the day.
You were excited to see Victor, you told him to dress as casual as possible. You have never seen him outside of a suit. It was also very hot out so you guessed he would wear shorts and a t-shirt. You had waited for him outside in anticipation. Watching the hustle and bustle of people go about their day, you feel your excitement bubbling up.
As you turn around to look the other direction, you step into a hard sculpted chest. Big warm hands had to grab your arms to keep you from falling on your ass. You noticed he barely stifled a laugh and felt your face turn bright red.
“Victor,” you squeaked meekly, taking a step back looking him up and down.
He was wearing a pale green polo shirt that made his grey eyes look green, light brown khaki shorts, he also had sandals with thick brown straps and buckles. Victor's hair was dark and tousled by the gentle breeze. You could still see the hint of a smile on his lips and the mirth in his eye.
“Enjoying the scenery?’”
You smiled up at him, “yes I am very much. I never expected to see you without socks so soon.”
“In what context were you expecting to see me without socks?”
“Nevermind….” You trailed off, “Lets get some Iced coffee and go for a walk.”
Victor followed you into the cafe and you both ordered Iced coffee and walked out towards the park. You snuck a quick glance at Victor who was sipping his coffee and surveying the surroundings casually. You smiled to yourself, he already looked relaxed. You leisurely walked halfway around the park chatting at Victor about your week. When your drinks were done you threw away your cups in a trashcan.
You had been eyeing up the dock full of paddle boats and you wondered if Victor would be up for it.
Victor turned to you and at the same time you asked each other, "Do you want to rent a paddle boat?”
You giggled and he smiled simply taking your hand and walked you to the boat rentals. “One boat please!,” He paid, taking the key for the boat.
“It will be number 5,” said the worker pointing to the dock, " I'll keep your purse, bags and belongings here into the same number locker. He opens the locker and puts your phones and wallets in locking it.
The two of you walked to the dock and Victor helped you into the boat and climbed in himself. Once he was in he unlocked the chain and used his foot to cast off the dock. You started paddling in time with him. It felt like you two were in sync. It was very calm and peaceful.
“So, this is what you do for fun?” he inquired.
You smiled, “No, this is what you do on a date. I would not do this with just anyone you know.”
He nodded, “I wouldn’t like it if you went on one of these with another man…”
“Victor, was that jealousy i just heard?”
He looked at you with such a serious face,”Have you been on one of these before?”
You were trying to tease him but he was so serious right now your smile faltered, “Yeah, I have.”
Victor frowned.
You raised an eyebrow at him and gently touched his hand, "When I was little my dad would bring me out here.”
He seemed to relax at that, “I see…”
The two of you stayed on the lake and stopped paddling just sitting there enjoying the bobbing of the boat on the small waves. Holding hands you sigh.
“Is this your first time on a paddle boat, Victor?”
He nods his affirmation,”I quite like the pace, I don’t often get to just stop and take a breath.”
He leans his head back and closes his eyes for just a moment. You find yourself studying his profile, his sharp jaw, his angular face contrasted by his soft lips and thick dark eyelashes. You follow his neck past his adams apple to the sweep in between his collarbones. You swallow thinking you really wanted to lick that spot as you run your hands across those shoulders.
The breeze blows his cologne towards you and you automatically breathe in his scent and close your eyes. You feel the boat shift and something soft touch your cheek as you open your eyes. Victor's hand came to rest on your cheek and he caressed your lower lip with his thumb. His steely demeanor seemed to soften in the warm sunlight as he looked from your eyes to your lips. He leaned in close, you hold your breath in anticipation of something more.
"Your lipstick is smudged," He states simply as he tucks your hair behind your ear as he leans back. you feel disappointed but brush it off.
The two of you continue paddling and talking when suddenly a frog hops from a stray branch onto your lap. It startles you and you automatically try to stand up which tips the boat off balance and Vicor tries to steady you but you grab onto him and fall backwards into the water with a huge splash taking him with you.
You resurface and see Victor is okay too. You grab the boat and swim to the other side putting it between you two. Victor grabs onto the boat and sees your huge grin and playfully splashes you with a handful of water.
"Idiot…"he says but he's softly laughing.
You both cimb back into the boat agreeing it's time to find dry land. You return to the dock and secure the boat. You were both sopping wet. Victor's looks you up and down. You blush under the scrutiny.
"Was this your plan all along?"he motioned to your swimsuit visible under the soggy blouse.
You shrug, "Well, I can cross it off my bucket list,"you giggle, "I always wanted to go swimming with a shark."
He shook his head exasperated.
Once you returned the boat key, collecting your belongings, you grabbed Victor by the hand and found a great soft patch of grass. Let's dry out in the sun and watch the clouds. Victor played along and lay on the grass hands behind his head and you plopped yourself beside him.
"That one looks like an ice cream cone, you started and that one looks like a rabbit."
Victor watched with you even giving a few suggestions himself but slowly he started to drift off and you'd hear the occasional soft hmmm in agreement when you looked over he was almost asleep. He must really be exhausted, you think to yourself letting him nap. After all you suspected he was more run down than he let on and that's why you planned this outing initially.
You watched him sleep for a bit and decided to occupy yourself with a cute phone game you have been playing. You rolled over onto your stomach so your backside could dry. Kicking your feet up in the air you played for a bit and started yawning yourself.
Glancing over at Victor you smiled, watching him sleep made you warm and fuzzy. He looked so completely different. The tight features you were used to seeing were now completely gone. His furrowed brow now smooth his tight lips slightly parted his tension replaced with relaxed demeanor. It was special, a treasure to be hoarded for your eyes only. You wanted to carve this sight into your melting heart forever. You took a picture and hugged your phone to your chest for just a moment. You watch him for a while longer nodding off yourself.
When he woke up from his nap you were holding your phone to your chest protecting its precious contents while lying on your side. Victor gently brushed your hair out of your face noting that it was so thick it was still heavy and wet. He would remember that for later.
Looking around it was still early afternoon and he watched people sitting on the grass, noting couples and families with their children. It was calm and simple. Something he wasn't used to but it felt good. He had known he was overworking himself but ignored his need to rest in favor of faster results. However sitting here right now he felt so completely at ease. How did you know he wondered?
His eyes trailing back to you. Watching the swell of your breast as you breathe shallowly, noting the soft curve of your hip and the cute sandals that made your ankles look so dainty. Your tiny hands desperately clutching your phone. Your soft lips part as you sigh in your sleep. He wondered if you were bored, surely falling asleep on a date was not acceptable. Frowning he thought he might need to make it up to you later. He wasn't one to disappoint.
He caressed your shoulder, "____you should wake up." The deep cadence of his voice drifted into your dream making your toes curl.
"Victor…"you moan contentedly.
The tone of your voice unhinges him shooting him in the gut and slightly lower. Taking him off guard for a moment. He had never heard his name so sultry coming out of your sweet mouth.
He runs his hand up your arm again, "It's time to wake up ___,"
"I don't want to wake up, I want to stay here with you…" you grouse as you drift in and out of your dream.
"What would we do?,"Victor asks, realizing you are not quite awake, and you are talking in your sleep, this could be fun.
"I want to touch it, it looks so fluffy…"
Victor quirks and eyebrow at this, "What are you talking about?"
"Your hair, silly."
He's a little surprised at the comment and reaches up to touch his hair. It is soft, he thinks.
"Tell me what would you do if I let you touch my hair?"
You respond with no hesitation, "I would run my fingers through it all the time. You're so hard everywhere else. I love the contrast."
Vicor blushes at the thought of your hands running through his hair and down his shoulders to his chest. He shakes his head grateful you're not seeing his reaction.
Feeling a little guilty he again rubs your arm. He knows he should stop but he just can't seem to help himself.
"What else do you want to do babygirl?" he drops his voice lower quietly prompting you to respond.
"Victor, please I want you to…" you doze off again.
"What do you want me to do?"
You hmmm licking your lips, "Pudding!"
He drops his head in dismay thinking he was going to get something good and here you want him to make pudding? It figures.
"Idiot!"he says to himself this time.
Victor gets up and walks over to one of the park vendors ordering two coffees and comes back to sit beside you. This time he shakes you awake.
You yawn and stretch out. opening an eye you look up to see your boss beside you. You sit up ,"I'm sorry I didn't mean to doze off…"
He simply nods and hands you a coffee. You take it and sip it. Looking around, it's still early. You check your phone. It's about three in the afternoon and your stomach grumbles.
"Time for some special food," you smile.
Victor looks dubious at the prospect of you choosing the food. You smile and get up.
" We are strolling over to the tea house. I had the owners pick out a special meal for us. I promise it will be amazing."
You took him to a beautiful tea house that housed a very traditional style garden full of several koi ponds with just the right amount of shade. You sat on the tatami mat, across from the table was Victor. The elderly couple who lived there were the ones serving you tea and a late lunch. There was a fair variety of food to choose from all in small portions and all very healthy. Victor was indeed impressed.
You ate your food and described each dish to Victor. He already knew most of the dishes of course but he liked how animated you were when you talked so he indulged you. The two of you enjoyed a tea ceremony afterwards and you both got to try with some guidance. It was fun.
It was starting to get darker and you wanted to take Victor to a very special place. It was where you first met him, the street he had saved you from the car when you were five. There was a festival happening there and you wanted him to see it with you. You quietly hoped he would remember too.
You hailed a cab and when the two of you got in you told the driver where to go. it was a long drive and you sat in comfortable silence along the way. It was always like this with Victor, you could just enjoy each other without saying anything. it was so natural like he'd always been by your side.
When you arrived at your destination You paid and the two of you got out. Victor surveyed the surroundings with a positive nod. There were stalls and vendors along both sides of the road and Small stalls with various games. The highlight of the festival was the dance of the shrine maiden and so you literally dragged victor around to play games and kill time until sunset.
When they announced the dance you beamed up at Victor and he nodded, taking you by the hand under the pretense of not getting lost. He skillfully weaved the two of you in and out of the crowd until you reached the platform. A huge crowd was gathered and you were too short to see.
Victor got down on one knee in front of you, "get on," he said as you took each of his hands to balance as you hiked your skirt up to strattle his shoulders. He wrapped his large hands around your calves and stood up with ease and you grabbed his hair for balance.
"Oh wow, it's so soft," you say as you run your finger through his dark locks.
Victor knew you wanted to touch his hair, he smirked to himself at your comment, "Pay attention dummy," he motioned to the stage as a woman came out dressed in a beautiful kimono.
She collapsed to the ground dramatically and shot up suddenly with two large bells in each hand. The music started and she began to dance as she rang the bells.
It was a beautiful dance and you were so enamored of it you almost forgot you were on Victor's shoulders. There was a bang and smoke rose up from the stage. Suddenly men dressed as demons began dancing around the girl. You startled and could feel Victor shaking under you with laughter. His cheek brushed the inside of your bare thigh.
Just now realizing how incredibly intimate this position was you failed to focus on the rest of the show. Instead softly letting your fingers play in Victor's hair as you pretend to watch. Wishing you could do this forever but also feeling like it was almost too intimate. You were at war with your inner self, would you get the chance to do this again? Who knew. Occasionally you'd feel Victor unconsciously rub his face against one thigh or the other and it made your toes curl. You wondered if he noticed.
It was over all too soon. Victor reached his hands up to grab yours and knelt down slowly keeping his balance. You climbed off and Victor turned to face you. His hair was a mess and you laughed. He had an unreadable expression as he looked at you. His eyes were darker than usual. You reached up to him and he automatically leaned down to you. Gently you put his hair back into place while he maintained intense eye contact with you. You stopped, hands sliding to rest upon his shoulders.
Before you knew what happened he was kissing you. His arms around your waist pulling you in as he expressed his desire without words. Your hands went back to his hair, fingers curling around the softness pulling him closer as you leaned into him and your lips pressed his, a soft caress and he tilted his head and parted his lips letting his tongue caress your upper lip. You opened your mouth and licked the tip of his tongue with yours in silent affirmation.
Suddenly the kiss became deeper, more demanding. His tongue swept your mouth exploring every crevice as you chased it with your own. You lapped at his mouth as he moaned into yours. Sucking on his lower lip as you parted from him.
Victor's voice came out husky,“That look on your face right now, it’s how I always want you to look at me!”
It was a command, a sweet one full of love. You put your hand on his chest and felt his heart pounding. Looking at his face he seemed cool as a cucumber but his heart told you the truth.
Chapter 34 - 6 Years Til Forever (FINALE)
Friday morning you found yourself sitting in the living room, awake before even the sun had poked its head out to say hello. You were excited about the picnic, and knowing the girls would be there put you at ease, as they also were unaware of the baby. It was wild, just thinking that yet again, there was a baby growing inside of you, one you created with someone you truly loved. Min Ja and Hyo Bin were the only two things you positively took away from your time with Weong-Bin, but this child? This child was just the beginning of many happy memories that were just waiting to be shared. Despite knowing deep down this would work well, you were still ungodly nervous.
As you sat in the living room, you heard footsteps approaching from down the steps. Looking over, you saw Taehyung, rubbing his eyes and ruffling his curly hair. You didn’t expect him to be awake at this hour, but here he was despite the slight annoyance etched on his face.
“Hm? Morning.” He mumbled, walking over to you. “Why are you awake this early?”
“Couldn’t go back to sleep. What about you?”
“I promised Hobi-Hyung I would help him get your picnic set up Apparently he had a whole bunch of stuff he wants to make.” You chuckled a bit. “So, you need to go inside. It’s a huge surprise.”
“Well when Hoseok gets up and comes out here, then I’ll get ready to go inside.” You said. Taehyung sat beside you, and you ruffled his hair. “How does your hair look good even when you first wake up?” you asked curiously as Taehyung let out a yawn.
“Mmm, I’m perfect, of course.” He said, making a dramatic pose with his hand in front of his face. You rolled your eyes as your brother let out a playful giggle. “So, are you ready to tell Hyung?” he asked. You let out a shaky breath. “You can’t hide it much longer.”
“I know. I think I’m ready. I just can’t help but think the worst.”
“You know he’ll be thrilled, right? You just need to tell him.”
“But what if he just wants it to be us and the girls? I want to be with Hobi forever, which means the kids will be with him too. Maybe two is all he wants.”
“There’s a difference between kids you help raise and kids that are yours, no matter how much he loves the girls. Besides, Hyung has enough energy for fifty kids.”
“Jesus, Tae.” You sighed, and once again, Taehyung laughed a bit. “Fifty?” He could only shrug in amusement. “…I didn’t think I would have any more kids after Hyo Bin. I’m a bit nervous too.”
“You’ll do just fine.” He assured, ruffling your hair. You smiled. “I’m always here too, you know. So are Mom and Dad, who I’m sure stopped at a baby store on their way home.” You laughed.
“I know they did, they sent me pictures of cribs.” Taehyung laughed a bit. “Once he knows we’ll really need to start saving for an apartment. I wouldn’t want to burden you with-.”
“Shut up.” He said quickly. “You’re not a burden, don’t rush. There are more important things you need to worry about than a place to live, you’re always welcome here.” You smiled.
“You’re trying to make up for all those times that you were an absolute pain in the ass as a kid, aren’t you?”
“I don’t think I’ll ever in my life make up for all of them.” He grinned. You laughed a bit as Taehyung chuckled shyly. “You should get some more rest before you have to get the girls up. Hyung should be up at any moment and we’re getting right to work.” You nodded, getting up off the couch.
“Oh, alright.” You hummed, waving him off before heading back into the bedroom. When you walked in, Hoseok was already sitting up in bed, a grin on his face.
“Why are you up?” he asked curiously. You crawled back into bed just as he was slipping out. “Get some rest, we have a long day today.”
“Does a picnic really count as a long day?” you asked curiously, cuddling up under the covers. Hoseok grinned sheepishly, scratching his cheek.
“This one will. I can promise you that.” He assured. You raised an eyebrow. “Aaaah, go back to sleep. I need to go get everything ready.” Without another word, he hurried out of the room. You smiled, laying back and closing your eyes.
Hoseok also realized as he headed down the hall that he wasn’t too sure how he felt when Friday finally rolled around. It was a day he had been planning since he was bored and alone in his hospital room. He made sure he had everything down: he knew exactly what he wanted to say, how he wanted to say it, where he wanted to say it, and even practiced the reactions he would have based on different responses from you. He practiced his happy cry, his sad cry, he practiced not crying at all just in case. He felt that he was absolutely prepared for everything that could happen when it came to proposing to you. He was ready!
The family was still residing in Taehyung’s apartment until they could find another place to live. Your parents had spent another few day’s there as well before they had to pack up and head back home themselves, leaving the five of you in Taehyung’s nice house. Taehyung had no problem with you guys staying, in fact, he was trying to make your stay as long as you possibly could because he loved having you around. Not only that, but it meant when friends like Namjoon, Yoongi, Jungkook, and Seokjin came by, they would have to come to his house. The trial allowed all 7 boys to finally meet all together and get acquainted with those they had never met before, leading to a tight friendship beginning to form. However, the company was not the focus of today. As Friday afternoon crept its way into Seoul, Hoseok was standing at the counter of the kitchen, with the help of an eager Taehyung. Both of them were chopping up some vegetables, putting side dishes in Tupperware, and setting everything into a nice picnic basket.
“I’m so excited.” Taehyung beamed, looking at Hoseok.
“I know, me too. I thought I would be nervous, but I don’t think I am.”
“Well Noona won’t say no.” Taehyung assured. Hoseok looked at him.
“How are you so sure?” he asked.
“She’s my big sister, I just know. She’ll definitely say yes, trust me.” Hoseok hummed.
“Alright, I trust you then, Taehyung.” He said simply. As he set the final ingredient into the basket and closed it all up, he hummed. “Okay, ready.”
“Where’s the ring?” Taehyung asked softly, although you were dressing the girls in another room and there’d be no way to hear him. Hoseok simply patted the little pouch that sat comfortably on his waist.
“In plain sight and yet totally hidden, aren’t I brilliant?” he grinned. Taehyung grinned. “Okay, everything is ready to go. Let’s go see if the girls are ready.” As the boys hurried to the girl’s shared bedroom, Hoseok knocked on the door. “You girls ready to go yet?” He asked. It only took a second before Min Ja opened the door. She was wearing a pair of overalls with a rainbow-striped shirt and matching sunhat. Across her chest laid a tiny flower handbag that Taehyung had bought her to put all her important items, you know, like rocks she found on the floor or pieces of sparkles and glitter she planned to save. Important things. “Wow, how cute you look, Min Ja.” he grinned.
“I know. Hyo Bin wants to dress like me, but she doesn’t have the same bag. The one Uncle Tae got her was of a heart.” As if on cue, a loud scream ripped from the room, and the boys stuck their heads inside. They saw you wrestling your three-year-old’s socks on, but she was kicking and screaming.
“Hyo Bin your bag is just as cute as Min Ja’s.”
“I HATE THE HEART BAG, MAMA! I DON’T WANT IT!” She shouted, sobbing hysterically. You sighed, grabbing hold of a flying leg before it clocked you in the forehead. “MAMAAAA!”
“You liked it when Uncle Tae took you to the store and bought it, didn’t you?” you asked softly. Hyo Bin continued to wail and scream. “…You’re ten seconds from staying home and not going anywhere if you keep acting like a baby, Hyo Bin. How are you supposed to go to school like Min Ja if you throw tantrums? You’ll get in trouble all the time.”
“She’s right. A boy in my class throws lots of tantrums.” Min Ja said, still standing by the door. “He also throws lots of chairs.” Taehyung glanced down at the little girl, a confused look on his face, though she didn’t seem bothered. As you managed to get both of Hyo Bin’s socks on, your effort was thwarted, as Hyo Bin yanked the sock off and tossed them angrily away from her. Having enough, you released your daughter and lied on your back.
“Okay, Hyo Bin. You’ve made up your mind.” You said simply. Hyo Bin, confused as to why she was no longer being held down, turned to look at you, though she was still hysterical crying. You slowly got up from the floor. “Mommy needs to go get dressed so we can go on our picnic. Min Ja was a good girl and got ready, so she can come. You can stay with Uncle Tae until we come back.”
“N-no Mama…” she begged, sniffling. She watched you leave the room. “M-mama!” She tried to run after you, but you gently excused yourself between Hobi and Taehyung before heading into your own room. She saw Hobi, Taehyung, and Min Ja looking at her, snotty and runny-nosed and red in the face. “I wanna come, Mr. Hobi…I’m a good girl too.” Hobi smiled a bit, kneeling down and pointing to the crumpled-up socks that Hyo Bin had flung away.
“How about we go get those socks on okay?” He said. Min Ja sniffled. “They match your heart bag really nice.”
“I want a bag like Unnie…” Hyo Bin said softly, whimpering.
“But didn’t you pick the heart bag?” Hoseok asked, picking it up. He gently laid it on Hyo Bin’s shoulder and across her chest. “Look how cute. What can we put in there?” Hyo Bin sniffled, opening it up to pull out a small plastic lipstick and blush container, as well as a few coins Taehyung had put in her bag, along with Min Ja’s when he bought them. “Oooo, wow. So cool. Don’t you like that your bag holds tons of stuff?” Hyo Bin wiggled her way into Hoseok’s arms, nuzzling her head into his neck.
“Mhm…” she finally said softly. “I wanna come too, Mr. Hobi.”
“Then we should stop crying, right? You won’t have fun if you’re crying.” Hoseok said gently, patting her head. Hyo Bin sniffled. Though the crying didn’t immediately stop, the girl silently went to her socks and picked them up, walking over towards Hoseok. He guided her onto the floor and simply helped her put the socks on. “There. Lovely. Ready to go?” Hyo Bin nodded as Hoseok scooped her up into his arms. The group exited the playroom, Hyo Bin still all sniffly. You stepped out of the room, fixing the ponytail you had put your hair into. “We’re ready~.”
“Aaah look how pretty you look.” You said to Hyo Bin, who was still sniffling in Hoseok’s arms. She wiped her eyes, albeit messily, and you smiled.
“I like your bag, Hyo Bin.” Min Ja said, looking up at her sister. “It looks really pretty with your hat.” The little girl, now with her sister’s approval, finally began to stop the sniffling and calm herself down. With that detour out of the way, the afternoon picnic could commence. Taehyung waved you all off, giving Hoseok a secret thumbs-up. He saw you turn to him as well, and he offered you a supportive thumbs up as well as he watched you guys go. He chuckled to himself, the door closing behind you as Min Ja chatted excessively about how excited she was.
“Hope this works.” He mumbled to himself, before plopping himself onto his living room couch and turning on the TV to play some video games.
--------------------------------------------------
“I hope you're excited about this.” Hoseok hummed, tightly holding your hands as he led you down one of the park roads. “I am.”
“Of course, I’m excited.” You assured. “It was just sudden when you asked me on a date in the middle of the courtroom.”
“Hehe, yeah I know, sorry, I hope it didn’t catch you off guard or anything. I had been thinking about when I was going to ask and when I saw you it just…eh, blurted out.” You both laughed.
“No, it didn’t.” You assured. When Hoseok led you to the spot, which was right by a small park for children to run and play on while their parents relaxed, you smiled. “Girls, do you want to go and play on the playground while we set up the food?”
“Yeah!” The girls shouted in unison. You smiled, watching as they hurried to the park, which was populated with a few other children as well. It looked generally safe that you could divert your attention back and forth from time to time. Hoseok pulled out the picnic blanket, spreading it on the grass before setting different items down to keep it from blowing away.
“You and Taehyung made quite a spread.” You said.
“I made it. Taehyung put it in Tupperware and into the basket.” Hoseok assured, making both of you laugh a bit. “But he helped a lot, so it’ll be a good meal.”
“I’m sure it will be.” You smiled, sitting down on the blanket. Hoseok plopped himself down next to you, before laying back fully and stretching out his limb. “The weather turned out so nice too.” You hummed.
“Oh, I know. The weather called for rain and I was so nervous I’d have to reschedule everything.” Hoseok pouted a bit, glancing up at you as you looked towards the playground. His hand rested against his pouch, feeling the box that was sitting patiently inside, waiting for its time to shine. Like he did before, all the different possible paths of the day were running through his mind and he was wondering which one he would be walking down. He had to be careful if he wanted to walk down the right path. “I’m just glad we get to spend the day together.” You glanced down at him, smiling.
“Me too.” You said happily. Like Hoseok, you were also worried about the path you would be walking down. You thought about the talk you had with Taehyung early that morning before anyone else had woken up, and it made you feel a lot better knowing that not only did you have his support, but your parents as well. It comforted you, and already, you knew that the path you were heading down now was leagues different from the path that you found yourself on in college. You needed to just wait for the right moment.
You allowed the girls some more time to run around, getting themselves hungry enough that they would sit down and eat without much distraction. This allowed you and Hoseok time to relax together, just enjoying each other’s company under a nice, refreshing breeze. Everything felt serene and peaceful, a feeling you had finally been waiting for among all of the trails, secrets, and violence. Everything was falling into place. Hoseok glanced over to you as you reached into the basket and picked up a strawberry, popping it into your mouth. His eyes trailed the finger that would soon hopefully be decorated by the beautiful ring, and he knew he had to do this now before he chickened out for real.
“I need to talk to you.” He said. You glanced over, curious as to what he meant. “It’s…important.”
“Is…everything okay?” you asked curiously.
“Everything is fine, there’s just something I’ve been meaning to ask you. But I wanted to wait until the trial and all the stressful stuff was over so that I wouldn’t be adding more pressure onto you.” You blinked, turning to face him.
“Well…that’s a coincidence…” you said. “Because I feel the same way.” Hoseok looked at you with slightly wide eyes. “I have to tell you something important too, but I wanted to wait until the trial ended.”
“I see.” He said. “How about we….” He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Fuck, I wasn’t expecting that.”
“Sorry. Do you want to go first?” you asked. Hoseok gulped a bit. “No?” You were kind of hoping he would say that because you wanted to just get this off your chest. However, Hoseok did not immediately respond. Hoseok took a shaky breath, before sticking his fist out in your direction. “Huh?”
“Rock paper scissors.” He said. “The winner out of three rounds go first.” You nodded, sticking your hand out with a small grin on your face. Hoseok followed behind you. “Okay, Rock, Paper, Scissors, Go!” He shouted. You threw out rock, he threw out paper. Hoseok grinned. You blinked, feeling your heart race. You wanted to win, you wanted to get it off your chest. Every second that passed by felt like a knife being pushed deeper and deeper into your chest. Nodding your head, round two began. “Rock, Paper, Scissor, Go!” He said. You threw out scissors, and Hoseok, this time, threw out paper. “Aaaaah.” He groaned, pouting.
This was the most intense game of Rock Paper Scissors that you have ever played. Never did you think that this would feel like an Olympic sport, where a massive win was on the line, a massive advantage, a massive victory. The third and final round would be the defining factor. It was currently tied.
“Last round…” you said softly. Hoseok nodded, smiling gently at you. You hummed, before starting the round.
“Rock.” Hoseok said. You bit your lip. “Paper-.” You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath.
“I’m pregnant.” You said quickly.
“Sci-.” Hoseok stopped almost immediately, his eyes going wide. You looked directly at him as soon as those words left your mouth. He was silent for a moment, looking down at his closed fist that was stopped dead in its tracks. “That’s not the next word- WHAT?!” He shouted. You flinched a bit. “You’re pre…you’re pregnant?!” He asked. You could only nod, unable to get his shocked expression out of his face.
“I wanted to wait until the trial was over to tell you. Then you brought up the idea of the picnic and I figured that would be the best time.” You explained.
“When did you know?!”
“When I was in the hospital right after the fires.” You said simply.
“Does anyone know?”
“Nayeon was with me when I found out. And I told my parents and Taehyung after…after the first day of the trial.” Hoseok blinked.
“How did this happen?” he asked. When he saw you open your mouth, he lifted a hand up. “Don’t answer that one. I know how it happened.” Hoseok saw the worry etched on your face, and he felt his chest bubble up with emotions. You could see his eyes watering. “Really?” You nodded, smiling a bit. “Oh my God.” He quickly closed the gap between the both of you, hugging you tightly as he tried not to burst into tears in a public space. “Wow. I was not expecting this to happen at all.”
“Are you mad?” you asked curiously. Hoseok shook his head, quickly pulling back to look at you.
“No not at all! After I found out about the other baby, all I could think about was having another one…” he looked down at your stomach with eyes full of wonder and amazement. You gently took one of his hands, placing it on your stomach. You were still relatively early in the pregnancy, so you were just barely showing anything. However, the minute Hoseok lied his hand on your stomach, all the strength he was trying to muster so he wouldn’t cry was gone. You watched as tears began flowing from his eyes. “Aw, man.” He quickly wiped them, and you smiled.
“Don’t cry!” You begged. “Please don’t cry, you can’t cry!”
“I’m so happy. Jeez, this isn’t what I planned to happen.” He said, sniffling.
“Oh. What did you want to tell me?” You asked, looking at him. He held your hand tightly in his, the other sitting firmly on your still flat belly. You smiled. “I totally cheated; you probably would’ve won. What did you want to say?”
“How am I supposed to propose to you in tears? Isn’t this supposed to be the other way around?” he asked. You blinked, dropping his hand from yours. He looked at you. “What?”
“Really?” you asked, smiling. Hoseok wiped his eyes, nodding. You felt like you wanted to cry as well, however, explaining why both of you were in tears would be difficult when the girls came back. You swallowed your tears, and a grin sat plastered on your face. “You were going to-.”
“Yeah, propose. I have a ring and…I had a speech and everything was planned.” He chuckled, opening up his little pouch and pulling out his little black box. Your eyes widened as he opened it, revealing the gorgeously expensive ring that sparkled almost as soon as it hit the light. “It was a whole big thing and I was absolutely terrified you would say no. But…man, after your news, I don’t even think I could top it if I tried.” You giggled a bit.
“You thought I would say no, you big idiot.” You were quick to take the ring. “Even if I wasn’t carrying your baby, I could never say no…” Hoseok held your wrist, gently taking the ring from your grasp. He laid your hand into his, quickly slipping the ring onto your finger. A smile formed on your lips as you held the ring up to the light, admiring the sparkle that it radiated. “Wow…I can’t believe this is happening.”
“Tell me about it.” Hoseok said, letting out a shaky sigh. You looked at him and smiled.
“I think these may go down in history as the oddest proposal and baby announcement ever.” You giggled, and Hoseok followed suit. You smiled, biting your lip. “I love you.” You said softly. Hoseok looked at you, a smile once again forming on his lips.
“I love you too…” he said simply. You looked down at the ring, Hoseok scooting close to you so that he could once again place his hand on your stomach. “Do you like the ring? Hyo Bin helped me pick it.”
“It’s so pretty. Not too gaudy. You know my first wedding ring was like that. Very flashy.” Hoseok chuckled. “Sold that thing for a nice sum after the divorce though.” Hoseok couldn’t help but laugh. “But I don’t think I’ll ever sell this one.”
“Good.” He said. Just as the two of you were finding comfort in each other’s embraces, you heard the sound of two young girls shouting your names. Looking up, Min Ja and Hyo Bin were hurrying over to the picnic table. Min Ja gasped.
“Mr. Hobi, did you ask Mommy if you could marry her yet?!” She asked. You looked at Hoseok.
“They knew?” You asked curiously. Hoseok laughed a bit.
“Min Ja heard me talking to Taehyung when you were putting Hyo Bin to sleep last night.” He admitted. You looked at Min Ja, who saw the ring on your finger. “Did you tell her about the baby?”
“What baby?” Min Ja asked curiously. You smiled.
“Well, Mr. Hobi and Mommy are getting married now, and we’re having another baby.”
“ANOTHER BABY!?” The girls shouted, eyes just as wide as Hoseok’s were, only on their little faces, they looked even wider. You smiled a bit as Min Ja and Hyo Bin crawled into your lap. “Where’s the baby?” Min Ja asked. “I wanna see her.”
“It’s in her stomach.” Hoseok explained. Gently, he took the girl's hands and placed them alongside his. “It’s really small right now, but when the baby gets bigger, so will your Mom’s stomach.”
“Great.” You groaned in playful sarcasm. “Just what I want, to be a basketball again.” Hoseok smiled a bit as the girls looked at your stomach.
“Is it a girl? Can it be a girl, Mommy?” Min Ja asked curiously. You smiled.
“It can be, but I won’t know until the baby gets bigger.”
“It can’t be a boy, it just can’t. Boys are gross and icky.” Min Ja pouted. You smiled a bit, ruffling her hair. Hyo Bin didn’t look as excited as Min Ja did at the idea of a little sibling. She just looked at your stomach.
“Are you excited?” Hoseok asked curiously.
“No.” she pouted up at him. “I don’t want a new baby.” You smiled, running a hand through her hair.
“Hyo Bin, you’re going to be a big sister, just like Min Ja is your big sister.” Hyo Bin looked at Min Ja, who was beaming just as much as Hoseok was. She still seemed unconvinced, but she kept the pout on her face and simply held your stomach tightly. You smiled. “How about we all eat, I’m starving.” You suggested, motioning to the opened picnic basket with food just waiting to be eaten. Hoseok pulled the basket over to you and began to pull out food, setting it out for everyone to enjoy. You watched as the girls tried their best to help him by setting out some food as well. He smiled happily, encouraging their helpfulness, which only wanted them to do more to help him. A smile formed on your lips as Hoseok passed you a small wrapped up sandwich, making sure to quickly kiss your cheek before he finished emptying the basket. A hum escaped your lips as you watched the scene unfold.
Just over 6 years ago, you never would have thought this would be how your life would’ve turned out. So many different paths had been found, doors had closed and others had opened, while other doors were completely destroyed. Despite this, the path that you were on and had been on since you were 20 years-old was one you would never change for anything, despite the hardships that were bestowed upon you. You were hoping that the next 6 years, and even longer, would only allow those paths to open wider and present you with even more wonderful and breathtaking memories.
What on Earthland did I just read?...
Soooo, I wrote this Nalu oneshot in response to this tumblr post. It was only gonna be a short drabble, but it got away on me. *shrugs* what else is new... tagging @shibukii and @fairywithajetblackheart because I said I’d deliver - sorry it took a little longer than expected. Rated T for kisses and Natsu’s language.
Lucy clapped excitedly as Max set up the new communications lacrima on her desk. “Max, you’re an angel. Thank you so much for helping me set this up. Warren is a genius.”
Max smiled, blushing a little at Lucy’s compliment. “Yeah. Who would’ve thought him patenting that miniature communications lacrima could go so far huh? Ever since he sold his idea of a DeskComm, he’s been rolling in jewels. As if his head wasn’t big enough already”, Max joked.
Lucy grinned. “Ah well, he’s the one that developed it, so it’s only fair. This is going to make contacting my editor in Crocus so much easier! I can’t believe that I can send her my manuscripts instantly without having to courier them to her.”
Max nodded. “Yeah. People are sharing lots of information with each other that way. It’s going to make a huge difference to the way people interact with each other. Not only that, now it’s been combined with a typing interface, you can chat to lots of others at the same time. It’s become really popular, even with non-magic users. I set up an in-lacrima Fairytail guild, so we can keep in contact with everyone while they’re out on jobs. I also set up a space where Fairytail fans can chat to us and each other. You should check it out Lucy. I’m sure a lot of the fans would be very excited to talk to you!”
“Really?” Lucy cringed a little. “I dunno Max. Since Team Natsu did that photoshoot for Sorcerer’s Weekly last month, some fans out on the street have been a little weird. Every time they see Natsu and I together, they’re whispering and nudging each other… it’s kinda creepy, to be honest.”
Max shrugged. “I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If you’re concerned, you can give it a try without interacting with anyone outside the guild. Just see what they’re saying, and what information they’re sharing. There are a lot of artists and writers on there – you never know Lucy, you might really enjoy it.”
Lucy’s eyes widened. “Other writers? Oh, I’d love the chance to chat to other writers! It can be so isolating sometimes, being stuck at a desk all the time without anyone to share ideas with. Can you show me how to get to it Max?”
Max chuckled. “Sure thing Lucy.” He typed into the lettered keypad sitting on her desk, and the glass sphere cradled in its brass holder glowed. Small jewel coloured lights spun within the circle, and Lucy recognised the Fairytail emblem as one of them. “You just need to touch the Fairytail emblem within the glass – here, you do it, because it will recognise traces of your magic aura and let you in. That’s it.”
The screen changed to show a picture of Lucy; the one on file at Fairytail as her ‘official’ picture for potential clients. Lots of other pictures were all in a line down one edge – some she recognised as fellow guild members, but others where unfamiliar. There was an image of the outside of the guild hall, and an image of the inside. Max pointed them out to her. “Here you go. Only guild members can access this area inside the guild, and you can chat to them if they’re there at the same time as you, or you can leave them messages. Non-members can access the outside of the guild – there’s a shop where they can buy Fairytail merchandise and a place where they can talk to each other.”
Lucy clapped her hands. “Wow, Max, this is amazing. So you said that I can go on there without interacting with anyone, right? Won’t they know that I’m there if they see my picture?”
“Ah.” Max pointed at her picture. “Just tap on it Lucy.” Lucy’s picture changed to a big smile. “That shows that you’re in the room and you want to talk. Tap it again.” Lucy’s picture changed so her eyes were closed - she looked as if she were asleep. “That shows that you’re out of the room. But I’ve set it up so that you can still see what people are talking about. If you want to join in the conversation, just tap it again.” Lucy gave him a big hug.
“Thank you so much for coming over and helping me with this Max. You do so much for the guild behind the scenes – I hope you realise how much we all appreciate you!” Max returned the hug briefly then stepped away, rubbing the back of his neck a little self-consciously, but smiling widely.
“Thanks Lucy. I’m gonna head over to Fairy Hills now. Erza has given me special permission to visit so I can set up deskcomm lacrimas over there for a few girls, but if I miss the timeslot she suggested, there’ll be hell to pay.” They both shivered a little, imagining Erza’s wrath.
Lucy tapped her lips in thought. “Oh, I know”, she grinned. “Stop in at the guild on your way there and get a slice of Mira’s strawberry cheesecake for Erza. That should put her in a good mood.”
Max chuckled. “Good idea. Well, it was nice seeing you Lucy!” He waved and stepped out of the apartment, closing the door behind him, and Lucy sat down excitedly at her desk. What should she do first? She tapped on her image so it ‘woke up’ and clicked on the in-guild icon. She was momentarily taken aback at the long string of insults in the chat space, but then rolled her eyes when she realised it was Natsu and Gray talking. She stretched her fingers and got to work.
Lucy H: Can’t you idiots keep the insults to yourselves for a change? And, Hi!
Natsu D: What? Who’s that? Oh, it’s you Luce. Hi yourself weirdo.
Lucy H: Natsu, that nickname was getting old years ago. Can’t you think of something more original?
Gray F: Yeah, dumbass. Can’t you think of something… oh wait, no you can’t because you’re a dumbass. Hi Lucy! This is pretty cool huh?
Lucy H: Yes, it is Gray. Don’t you think you’re wasting it though, just using it to type insults at each other?
Gray F: No.
Natsu D: Nup. I just see ice prick’s face and it’s automatic.
Gray F: You shut up, fire eating trash can!
Natsu D: Ice sparkling snow princess!
Gray F: Slow combustion ass wipe!
Natsu D: Pretty boy ice-for-brains!
Lucy H: Ugh. I’m not staying for this. I hear it enough in person. See you later at the guild!
Lucy left a welcome message for Levy, Erza, and Juvia, then looked at the other icon, where the non-guild members chatted. Maybe she could just take a little peek? Just to see what they were talking about? Biting her lip, she tapped her image again so it changed to ‘sleeping’ and clicked on the exterior guild image.
An avalanche of words crossed her screen. It was a bit disconcerting – so many people were chatting at once. Words whirled across the screen in a tangle, but gradually she realised that there were different threads of conversation. She started unravelling the different chats with interest. One group was talking about who would win in battles between the male mages of Fairytail. Another was talking about when the Grand Magic Games were going to be held that year, and who Makarov might choose to go. And yet another was talking about the recent magazine article with Team Natsu.
Rose P: I loved that outfit that Erza was wearing. You hardly ever get to see her in something so pretty. That dress was so cute, and the sunhat just made it, ya know?
Claire D: I know! And they actually got some photos of Gray Fullbuster wearing clothes *giggles* I mean, but seriously, that man is a dish. I don’t know how the women at the guild work with him without melting into a puddle.
Alice O: I agree! Although, I prefer Natsu. That grin of his, with the fangs! Ugh. And even though he’s not as tall as Gray, he’s so muscular. Oh. My. Gods. I mean, that photo with him and Lucy, where he’s holding her in his arms? So. Hot. And the way he was looking at her, as if he could eat her up? And the way she was looking up at him and smiling at him? Adorable. Nalu forever.
Rose P: Oh, I loved that picture! That was my *favourite*. It inspired me to write another Nalu fanfic. You wanna read it?
Claire D: YES!! Gimme gimme!
Alice O: Rose!!!! You. Are. The. Best. Really, what would we do without you feeding our Nalu addiction?
Rose P: Jeez, settle down you two! Okay, here’s the link.
Lucy pulled back from the deskcomm, wide-eyed and blushing. What on Earthland did she just read!? Nalu? She could only assume it was a combination of both her and Natsu’s name. And exactly what picture where they talking about?
She moved over to her coffee table to pick up the latest edition of Sorcerer’s Weekly, flicking through the pages quickly to get to the article. Jason had called in a favour – the team he was going to do an article on had pulled out, due to an urgent mission, and he needed another team to spotlight. Team Natsu had agreed, as long as they got a free meal out of it. So they had met at a local restaurant near the canal for lunch, and as Jason requested, had dressed up for the occasion, the boys in dark pants with buttoned shirts and rolled up sleeves, and the girls in summer dresses.
Erza had gone all out, wearing a yellow patterned sundress with a large hat. Wendy had looked particularly cute in a little baby pink dress with a lace collar, and Charle had a matching outfit with a perky pink bow on her tail. Happy was wearing a green vest, and Lucy had worn a strapless sky-blue dress with lace edging.
The interview had been fairly painless, all the usual questions about teamwork, and how they managed to get along so well, and their favourite foods and so on. The photographer had snapped photos while they were talking and eating lunch, and then they’d walked down to the park to take a few more shots as the sun set. Lucy had been walking along the top of the wall on the edge of the canal, as she usually did, when her heel caught on a cracked stone. She had slipped, and Natsu had caught her. That must be the photograph the girls chatting had been talking about.
She examined the photo carefully, trying to see it with an outsider’s eye. It certainly looked romantic. The sun was setting behind them, the water in the canal was sparkling, and Natsu had his arms around her as if he were carrying a princess. He was looking at her intensely, the way he often did when he came to her rescue. But that was just… Natsu. And yes, she was smiling at him, with her arm resting on his shoulder, but that was just because he’d stopped her from falling on her arse and embarrassing herself. There wasn’t anything romantic about it. It was just how they were. They were close friends. Best friends. As close as any friends could be. He was always there for her. Always. Just like she would always be there for him.
She smiled at the photo, stroking the image of Natsu’s face with her forefinger, feeling that warmth that she always did when she thought of him. Her life had changed for the better in so many ways since that day she had met him in Hargeon years ago. They had gone through so much together. Some of it dark and dangerous. But the bond they shared after coming though it was stronger than any relationship she’d ever known. She put the magazine down and walked back over to her desk, sitting to look at the screen again.
Claire D: OMG!!! Rose, I’m dying. I think I’m actually gonna die. That was so freakin’ good! So hot! Man, I think my deskcomm is gonna burst into flames any second.
Alice O: ^^^^ I second that. You really know how to deliver the goods. Rose, your fanfics are so amazing! You really should write professionally, you know that?
Rose P: You guys!! I’m blushing, seriously. I’d love to write professionally, but… I don’t know. And Lucy’s my idol – the way she’s combined working as a mage with a writing career too? It’s just… how can one person be so talented!!! And she’s so pretty too. If she ever read any of my stuff I know I’d just die. I just love her and Natsu so much – I just want them to be happy.
Lucy’s cheeks felt like they were on fire, and she patted them with her cooler hands, trying to calm down the burn. This was too much. She felt equal parts embarrassed and proud, and her stomach was doing flips. Should she read what this girl had written? Her heart beat faster as she moved her finger over to tap on the link, hovering above it. She screwed up her eyes and her courage, and tapped.
Okay. She sighed in relief as she read. This wasn’t so bad. Her and Natsu were walking along, chatting. That was okay. Now they were holding hands. That was still okay, they did that all the time. Well, usually it was because he was dragging her someplace, but still within the realms of what she was comfortable with. Now he was… oh, um. A little cheek stroking was fine, she guessed. And… kissing!? Not just a little peck either. Hot kissing. Full on tongue kissing, and his hands were… eep!
Lucy shut her eyes tight, squirming a little on the seat as she fought to control her needy reaction to the sexy words on the screen. This was… if she were honest with herself, in her daydreams her and Natsu had kissed more than once. More than kissed actually. But those were just daydreams. Because, lets face it, Natsu was oblivious. He loved her, yes, but he wasn’t in love with her. And she loved him, and the small part of her heart that wanted to take things further in a romantic way, she’d carefully well and truly smothered. It was only when she was alone, in certain private moments, that she let her imagination take full flight and picture how they might be together.
Taking a deep breath, Lucy opened one eye and squinted at the screen as if it were a dangerous object that might explode at any moment. It looked like she was half-way through the document. And even though the subject matter was making her heart beat a million miles a minute and making her feel more than a little hot under the collar, it was actually well written. If it were about somebody else, anybody else, she’d be raving about it too! It wouldn’t be fair to not read the rest, would it? She opened her other eye and began reading again, leaning forward to give it her full attention, her heart beating faster.
“Watcha doin’ Luce?”
Lucy shrieked and leaned over the desk, trying her best to cover the glowing words on the lacrima orb. She turned around slowly, leaning backwards with her hands gripping the desk edge, her face a violent shade of pink. Almost as pink as her partner’s hair, the partner standing right there in front of her. Obviously she’d been so engrossed in her reading she hadn’t heard him come in the window.
“Oh, um, ha ha, hi Natsu” she stammered, blocking his view with her body as he tried to peer over her shoulder. “Um, weren’t you busy chatting with Gray?”
“Nah, that got old quickly. Typing out insults is much harder than actually sayin’ ‘em. I’ll just save ‘em up for next time I see him at the guild.” Natsu took in her flustered appearance and her efforts to hide the screen from him. “Soooo, what’s on the screen that’s so exciting you’ve got to hide it from me Luuu-seeeeee?” He grinned at her, as she spread her arms out and attempted to block his view even further. “Are you writin’ somethin’ that’s pervy? Wait ‘til I tell Happy.”
“Noooo! I didn’t write it! I mean, I’m reading it. I mean, I wasn’t sure what it would be about but someone wrote a story about us and then I was interested but I don’t think it would be anything you’d be interested in so I’ll just…”
“Someone wrote a story about us! Cool, I wanna see.” Natsu picked Lucy up as she tried to cover the screen and put her behind him, and then grabbed her hands as she jumped up and down behind him, trying to cover his eyes. He sat down at Lucy’s desk and dragged her hands downwards so her arms hung over his shoulders, both wrists secured by his larger hand against his chest. He used the other to tap the screen. “Quit it Luce! Lemme just scroll to the top here. Well, this is borin’ so far. There’s no fights or anythin’… oh.” Lucy blushed even brighter as they reached the kissing scene, waiting for Natsu to stop reading in disgust. But he kept reading.
Both their eyes widened as the scene on the page continued. Lucy could feel Natsu’s heart hammering against her hand, and he gulped as his eyes scanned the page, where on screen Natsu and Lucy got up close and personal wearing a lot less clothing than they had at the beginning of the story. Lucy’s own heart was thumping so loudly she was sure that Natsu could hear it, she was almost sure she could hear it. She squirmed against Natsu’s back, trying to get her hands free, but his grip on her wrists was firm. They both kept reading until the scene reached it’s logical conclusion. Safe to say that on screen Natsu and Lucy were feeling a lot happier and more satisfied than real life Natsu and Lucy were currently.
Natsu gulped again, shifting a little uncomfortably on Lucy’s chair. “Well, that was… you said you didn’t write this?”
Lucy shook her head and buried her face into Natsu’s shoulder. “No, it was written by a fan.”
“So people outside the guild see us that way too? Huh, figures.”
Lucy raised her head. “What do you mean?”
Natsu turned his face to look at her. They were so close their noses were almost touching. “Luce, there’s been a betting pool on how long it would take for us to get together since about three weeks after you joined the guild.”
“Whaaaaat!” screeched Lucy. Natsu screwed up his eyes tightly and grunted.
“Fucking hell Luce, go scream into my other ear as well, then I’ll be totally deaf!”
“Sorry, sorry!” Lucy whispered. “But there’s a betting pool on us?”
“Sure is. Cana runs it. She has heaps of betting pools going. How do you think she affords all the booze she drinks?”
Lucy blinked. “That explains a lot, actually”, she said slowly. She looked at Natsu’s still pink cheeks, then looked downward, examining her carpeted floor with interest. “Um, Natsu? Have you ever…” she chewed her bottom lip. “Never mind.”
“Have I ever thought about you and me… together?” replied Natsu, his voice husky. “Sure I have. I’d have to be made of ice not to have thought of you that way. You’re pretty easy on the eye Luce.” He grinned at her, his cheeks flushing darker again. “Sooo, have you…”
“Yes. Quite a lot actually.” Lucy bit her lip nervously again as their eyes widened. They stared at each other and looked away quickly. Natsu’s thumb drew slow circles on Lucy’s wrist.
“Say Luce”. He swallowed nervously, then continued. “If you’ve thought about it, and I’ve thought about it, how come we never…”
Lucy glared at him. “How was I supposed to know Natsu? You’ve never done anything to make me think that you had that kind of interest in me.”
Natsu grumped back at her. “Yeah, well, I wasn’t the one dating half the population of Magnolia Lucy.”
Lucy’s eyebrows rose so high up on her forehead they nearly disappeared into her hairline. “What!” she screeched. “I’ll have you know, since I joined Fairytail I’ve gone on… five dates. FIVE! In how many years? And that’s only because my partner had the romance of a… of a… a rock has more romance in it than you Natsu Dragneel!”
Natsu’s hand tightened around Lucy’s wrists and he scowled. “Is that right? So, seein’ I’m so fuckin’ hopeless in the romance department, if I asked you out on a date now, you wouldn’t go?”
“YOU WANNA DATE ME?!”
“YES I DO!”
“FINE!”
“FINE!”
Natsu let go of Lucy’s hands and swung his arm around Lucy’s waist, pulling her onto his lap, as his other hand cupped her chin, guiding her face towards his. Their lips met, pressing hard against each other, Natsu’s heated tongue slipping into her slightly opened mouth, twisting against hers, making her moan. Her hands twined around his neck, her fingers tugging his pink locks desperately. At first the kiss was ferocious, as years of pent up yearning was released; a battle of lips and tongues fuelled by mutual desire. Lucy’s fingers thrust through Natsu’s hair as she made small needy whimpers, and Natsu’s fingers clutched her hip so tightly she was sure there would be bruises later, but she didn’t care. He pushed her down tightly into his lap, the hard evidence giving her ample notice of exactly how much he was enjoying their kiss. This was finally happening. All those daydreams she had thought would never come true. All that time spent pushing down her feelings. All those lonely nights when she had sobbed into her pillow when he had left her behind for a year, not knowing where he was, or even if he were still alive. Those days were over. If he thought she would ever let him leave without her now…
Their foreheads rested against each other as they paused to take a breath, both gasping for air. Natsu chuckled, cupping her face with both hands, rubbing her nose affectionately against his. “Lucy”, he rumbled, “I’ve wanted to do that for so long. You have no idea how long I’ve wanted you.”
Lucy smiled back, her eyes full of stars. “Well, maybe you should have, then we would have been doing it much sooner.”
Natsu leaned back, quirking an eyebrow at her. “Oh really, Miss ‘get outta my bed, don’t look I’m changing Natsu you pervert’… That was kinda discouraging Luce.”
Lucy pouted, then grinned back. “Well, a girl’s gotta keep up appearances, you know. I don’t let just anyone see me in my underwear.”
Natsu leaned closer, his hot breath ghosting over her neck, making Lucy shiver. “What would you say if I said I’d like to see that now Lucy?” he said softly, his voice deepening, thumbs stroking her cheeks as he bounced her a little on his lap with the strength of his thighs.
Lucy wrapped her arms around his neck again, raining soft kisses over his face. “I’d say… kiss… try your luck... kiss... Natsu… kiss… you never know… kiss… what a new day might bring…”
“Oh really?” Natsu drawled, his chest rumbling with a growling purr.
“Yes, oh really…” Lucy grinned, then shrieked as Natsu lifted her up over his shoulder, balancing her with one hand. He flipped up her skirt and slapped then squeezed one underwear clad bottom cheek as he marched towards her bedroom. “I’d say I’m feelin’ lucky today Lucky Lucy Heartfilia. Whaddya say?”
“Natsu you pervert!” she squealed as she dangled over his shoulder, giggling madly. She pinched him hard on his behind as they went through the door. He kicked it closed with a chuckle, shutting out the world.
Rose sighed as she walked in the door to her parents’ home. She kicked off her boots and hung up her jacket on the hook in the hallway. The other baker’s assistant had called in sick today, staying home to nurse a bad cold, and it had been hard managing the workload alone. Even though she quite liked her job, it wasn’t what she wanted to do forever. She wandered into her bedroom to put away her bag, and was surprised to see a large box sitting on her bed. “Ma, what’s this?” she hollered.
Her mother came down the hallway, drying her hands on a teatowel. “Oh Rosie, you’re home. That box came for you today. Were you expecting anything?” Rose shook her head, and sat down eagerly on her bed, wanting to see what was inside. She tore open the packaging and gasped. The entire box was full of Fairytail merchandise, banners, posters, plushies of Team Natsu, and some postcards. “Oh my goodness! Who would have sent this to me!”
Her mother looked just as surprised as she did. “It was delivered by a courier – I had to sign for it, but I didn’t notice who sent it. Is there a letter or anything with it?”
Rose, sorted through the merchandise, pausing to hug each plushie with delight, then noticed the postcard with a photo of Natsu on it had some writing on it. Eagerly she swept it up, doing her best to decipher the messy scrawl above his signature.
‘Yo, Rose – you’re doin’ great work, keep it up!’
She looked at it, overjoyed to have something handwritten and signed from Natsu, but puzzled by its meaning. She turned over the other postcards, and her heart nearly stopped when she saw the flowing cursive on the back of the photo of Lucy Heartfilia.
‘Dear Rose – I just wanted to let you know your writing shows real talent. In fact the story I read was very inspirational! Don’t ever give up. Keep writing every day; the sky’s the limit! With much love, Lucy xx.’
There was a cute heart drawn underneath the writing, enclosing the letters ‘NaLu’.
Rose shrieked and clutched the postcard to her chest, burying her face into her pillow as her laughing mother looked on, used to her daughter’s over the top personality. “Oh. My. Gods. Mama, call the hospital. I’m gonna diiiiiieeeee!”
Chapter 12 - Playground
-
Liz soon grew comfortable around Flo. Peter obviously thought a lot of her, and she could see why. Flo was obviously very posh, but she wasn’t at all snobby. Liz had worried at first that she might be a bit high and mighty and look down her nose at her, so it was a nice surprise finding that she was so genuinely nice and easy to get along with.
They spent such long time talking, it felt as though the three of them had been friends forever. After a while, they decided they should get up and do something, and the pool sounded like the perfect option, so they went off to find the grown-ups so Peter could ask for permission.
-
They found Loki and Tony in the second sitting room, cuddled up close on the love seat, arms round each other, kissing deeply. Peter rolled his eyes, gestured to the girls to keep quiet, and then jumped at his parents, forcing himself between them and making them break apart.
Tony just laughed. “What are you doing, chick?”
“Interrupting, what does it look like?”
Loki laughed too, pulling the boy onto his lap and squeezing him tight, kissing him hard on the cheek.
“You just want a bit of attention, don’t you, sweetie?”
Peter grinned up at him. Tony joined in the hug, kissing his other cheek.
Liz couldn’t help staring at them, a hot feeling in her chest. She’d seen the way Loki and Tony had kissed, and she saw the way they were looking at each other. She watched them as they hugged Peter and laughed with him, and she saw the way Peter cuddled up to them and acted like a silly kid. They looked so happy together, and everything seemed to make so much more sense now.
Flo saw the way Liz was looking at them, and squeezed her hand reassuringly.
“Anyway, I take it you had a reason for coming in here, other than to interrupt us” Tony said. “Is everything ok?”
Peter nodded, looking over at the girls. “We were just getting a bit bored, I think. Can we go down to the pool?”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Tony said, glancing at Loki. “You’re still pretty cut up under your shirt, and still pretty weak into the bargain too”
“If you think you’re up to it, I don’t mind” Loki said slowly. “But behave yourself, and go gentle. No rough play”
Peter nodded. “So... Is that a yes?”
Tony nodded. “Sure, that’s a yes. But be good, and don’t get silly”
-
It wasn’t till they were back in Peter’s room that Liz suddenly realised she had a problem.
“I haven’t got any swim things with me!” she said. “And I don’t think I could have a repeat of what we did at that party, either”
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about that” Flo said, smiling at her. “I’ve got a costume you can borrow”
“You came prepared..?”
Flo shook her head. “I’ve got a couple here. Or, I’m sure Peter has some if they aren’t to your taste”
“I don’t have girls swim stuff” Peter said. “Only the stuff you and the others leave here”
Flo opened one of the drawers of the dresser. “I’ve only got two-pieces here. I hope that’s ok?”
“Yeah... Are you sure they’ll fit me? I don’t think we’re the same size..”
“Oh nonsense, of course they will! You’re taller, and I’m broader, so I guess it evens out”
“You can hardly be described as broad!”
Flo just giggled, handing one swim set to her. “This one will suit you”
Liz took it gratefully, and then looked at Peter. “Um...”
“What?” Peter blinked at her. “There’s towels down in the cubicles, don’t worry. So. Shall we?”
-
Liz couldn’t help being impressed by the proper little changing room downstairs - and mightily relieved, because she wasn’t too sure about getting changed under a towel in front of the other two.
Peter was fastest getting changed, and spent a few minutes folding and re-folding towels on the bench outside the cubicles, trying to seem busy. Liz was next to emerge from her cubicle, kitted out in a very cute little black swim skirt with a matching bikini top.
“Aw, you look cute!” Peter said. “It suits you”
“Thanks” Liz smiled, blushing. “I’ve never had a swim skirt before. I didn’t really know they were a thing”
“They’re cute though, aren’t they? I think I’d like one if I were a girl”
“Why not wear one now?” Liz teased, and then had a proper look at him. “Your cuts are looking better”
Peter glanced down at himself. “Yeah, they’re getting there. You should’ve seen them right after the accident! It was pretty scary. They were still pretty scary after they’d been cleaned. Sometimes I can kinda see why dad made such a stupid fuss about it”
Liz didn’t have time to respond, because the clunk of the lock to Flo’s cubicle distracted her.
“Sorry I took so long: one of the hooks on my bra is all bent and it was a bit of a struggle undoing it!” she said.
She was wearing a little white bikini with a lace overlay.
“You look so cute!” Liz said. “Where did you get that?”
“Hm? Oh, my aunt made it! She’s a swimwear designer and she makes me little things with off-cuts of material, and this was one of them!”
“That’s so cool! Does she often make you things?”
“Lots! I’ve got so many swimsuits, you wouldn’t believe - and the less said about sarongs and sunhats, the better! I love her things, but I don’t go swimming often enough to really use everything”
“Did she make the one I’m wearing?”
“Yes. It was originally supposed to be a swim dress, but she made a mistake on the middle material, so she just snipped it out and made it a dress and bikini top instead”
“You know I love changing room talks as much as the next person” Peter interrupted. “But shall we go through?”
“Sorry...”
“Aw, don’t apologise, Liz!” Flo said. “He’s just itching the jump in and have a swim! He’s a water baby, you know”
Peter squeezed Liz’s hand. “Why don’t we shower first? Then we can go down the slide first”
“You’ve got a slide?”
“We’ve got a few! I hardly ever get to use them, ‘cos like I said the other day, usually if I’m down here I’ve got dad breathing down my neck making me train”
“I sometimes forget how rich you are”
“How rich dad is. I know, it’s insane!” Peter shook his head. “I forget sometimes too. Honestly though, this pool is what having money is about, I think. Wait till you see the fun stuff: it’s like a proper leisure pool you’d go to on a day out”
“Now who’s delaying us with idle chatter?” Flo said, shaking her head fondly. “Come on: shower, and slide. Sounds like a plan to me!”
-
The Stark’s pool was incredible. Liz couldn’t help being amazed, both by the pool itself, and by the fact that it existed in someones house. It seemed like something that could be a bit of a waste - but at least not while she was here. It was huge, and seemed to extend back for miles. Right at the front it looked like a regular pool, and was obviously where Peter had to train. But beyond that, the shape changed, and it was also indescribable. It was like an adventure park in a pool. There was a little hot tub type pool on one side, on a raised platform, but it paled in comparison to everything else. There seemed to be a big wall, but the pool extended through a big tunnel-type structure, made to look like rock, although Liz couldn’t see how far back it went. Looking up, she could see the big metal tube of the big slide. She was so busy taking in the first view that Peter made her jump when he spoke.
“It’s better if we go round to the side. Then we can go up to the big slide, and it takes you down to the other bit of the pool. It’s the fun bit, I suppose”
“How big is this pool?” Liz asked as they walked round to the side.
“Huge. Honestly, it’s actually a bit ridiculous. It’s massive, but the other side is just so good. I’m fed up with competitive swimming, but I’m still happy to do fun swimming. And even if I wasn’t, I think this would change my mind. Seriously, I swear I notice something different every time I come down here. Which just shows how often I use it”
“Isn’t it boring on your own? Or do you parents come down too?”
“Well. Before I was on the swim team, me and dad used to play down here, and that was fun. Daddy usually just stayed in the hot tub. May used to love it too. We carved out names onto one of the walls somewhere... It’s fun down here on my own too. And I’ve got the bunnies now, so we come down here. But not enough”
“You mean Loki doesn’t take full advantage of it?” Liz said as they started up the winding steps to the top of the main slide.
Peter shrugged. “It’s a bit of a shame, cos there’s a lot to explore, and I think he’d enjoy it, but he just... He’s always said he hates swimming, ever since I first met him”
“Either he hates it, or he’s just not very good at it” Liz said.
“He’s a god, Liz. I don’t think anything as small as swimming is beyond his capabilities” Flo said.
Peter didn’t say anything, just played with the light settings now they’d reached the top. He wasn’t about to admit it, but Liz was right. He’d found out quite by accident. It was a long time ago now, at the very end of that rocky first summer. He’d asked Loki to come down to the pool with him, and he’d refused point blank. They ended up having a huge argument, and in the heat of the moment, Loki had accidentally let slip that he didn’t know how to swim. Peter had offered to teach him, but Loki had snapped that he wasn’t going to let a snot-nosed little brat try to teach him anything, and then he’d smacked him hard and told him that if he ever told anyone, he’d kill him. Peter didn’t believe him, of course, but he wasn’t going to take the risk - and he was still scared of getting on Loki’s bad side back then.
-
The fading lights and the rush of water and the speed of the slide were almost overwhelming. It was like being in a different universe - and so it was quite a shock shooting out of the end of the slide and splashing into the blue swimming pool water below. Liz righted herself and turned to Peter and Flo, who had gone before her - but found herself distracted by the scenery. It was like a little cove, the walls around them made to look like rock, very high above them. There were little ledges round about, and there seemed to be little passages at all angles, leading off to who knows where.
“Oh wow”
“It’s cool, right?” Peter grinned. “Hey, there’s way more. Come on, let’s get exploring: there’s so much I want to show you!”
-
It really was like another world, full of twists and turns and whirlpools and little forests and waterfalls, not to mention more slides and a little pool with a fierce wave machine. Liz stared in awe. The possibilities were endless.
-
The three of them climbed onto a little brick-red raised paddling pool under a spray of cold water, and flopped, Peter in the middle with a girl on either side. Peter closed his eyes, feeling the cold water on his face, and the beat of his pulse in his neck and along the wounds on his front.
“I told you it was unreal” Flo said, still catching her breath. “Imagine if you’d been a little kid here, Peter! If we have this much fun now, at our age, imagine how overwhelmingly exciting this would be for a small child”
“I think it’d be dangerous for a little kid!” Liz said. “They’d get lost far too easily, and they’d hurt themselves”
She’d scraped both knees and elbows, and slipped over quite a few times over the course of their exploration, as had the others. It had felt a bit dangerous at times - or, if not dangerous, them at least precarious.
“Peter? Do you ever think this place is too big to fit here? It’s like a whole planet in your basement!”
Peter giggled. “I think technically it is still the ground floor. It is a bit funny, but I’ve gotten so used to having an upside down house, I don’t really think about the ground floor”
“This is going to sound really thick, but what’s an upside down house?”
“It’s not thick: I didn’t know the term until someone explained it. It’s like, a house where the kitchen and living room are upstairs... Ours sometimes feels a bit like a flat, because we’ve got literally everything upstairs. As far as I know, the only things we have downstairs are storerooms, and the pool. Oh, and dads lab”
“Oh, I see” Liz nodded. “...I never knew Tony Stark was so big on swimming”
“I don’t think he is, really” Peter said. “He’s much more into his sciencey stuff and his mechanic stuff... I did ask him why he built the pool once”
“Oh?” Flo sat up. “What did he say?”
“Well, he designed it when he was bored one night, and then he realised he had loads of space here, and he thought he’d mess about with the idea. He has loads of friends who are good at manual work, and he hired some other people, and it became his project. He says he’s still proud of it, because it was all done to his design”
“That’s so cool”
“The original design is amazing, honestly. It’s huge, like, he did on on like, A2 paper, and there’s two, ‘cos some of his little details and stuff he drew bigger to work out, but it’s just... It’s so detailed, all intricate with all little labels and scales and stuff. It’s all coloured in with coloured pencils and it’s just so cool. He said he couldn’t bear to throw it out even after the pool was built, and he dug it out to show me. I swear I must’ve spent a good half hour at least looking at it”
“Tony Stark can literally do everything” Flo said, sighing ruefully. “It’s kind of amazing”
“Well, maybe, but I’ve also seen him effing and blinding and almost scolding himself with a steam iron because he couldn’t work out how it worked” Peter said, smiling at the memory. “I think he wanted to kill me when he put it down and I picked it up and worked it out like, immediately”
“What about Loki?” Liz said. “Is he good at all the same stuff?”
“Um.. Well, strictly speaking, he’s not allowed to so much as set foot in the lab, and sometimes I think he’s still getting to grips with human science and stuff. He’s clever, and he’s fine with most things. I think he could be as good as dad if he wanted to be, but he isn’t really bothered. I think he’s just happy enough doing his volunteering and going to the pub and then coming home and playing the domestic goddess”
“It’s hard to imagine him running about with a feather duster”
“I think so too, and he’s my dad!” Peter finally sat up, so Liz did too. “I know he does most of the housework, but I don’t ever see him do it”
“Not at all?”
“Well. I’ve seen him do the kitchen. And I’ve seen him make my bed, but only when I’ve been ill and he’s done it. He says clean bedding helps you feel better, I don’t know” he shook his head. “I don’t know. I don’t really think about housework: it’s a bit of a dull area”
“I’ll say!” Flo said. “How long have we been down here anyway?”
“God knows. I always lose track of time down here” Peter said.
“Well, it feels like we’ve been here for hours” Liz said. “I’m tired out now”
“Yeah, I am too” Peter said. “We can cut through the rock to get back”
Liz looked at where Peter was looking. The rock wall seemed no different to the other walls: solid.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, I’m serious” Peter slid back into the main pool. “There’s a bit you press, like a hidden panel, and it gives you a puzzle, and then lets you through. It’s like a secret door”
“This place is so extra” Liz said to Flo.
Flo smiled and jumped down from the raised pool. She held a hand out to Liz and helped her down.
“It’s mad, isn’t it? I’ve not been through the wall before!”
“It’s kinda spooky” Peter said. “It’s fun though”
They went over to the wall, and Peter found the hidden button. It opened up a square panel, and they were faced with a puzzle.
“Ooh, slidey puzzles! I love these: I used to have lots when I was little” Flo said.
“Oh good, because I’m rubbish at them” Peter said. “They take me forever”
“Oh come on; it can’t be that hard” said Liz. “Let me see”
With three of them on the case, it took them less than a minute to slide the tiles around and assemble the picture. The panel lit up, and there was a squeaking as an outline became visible in the rock, and a big hole opened up in the wall. Liz and Flo peered in.
“It looks awfully dark” Flo said.
“It’s lighter when you get past the first bit” Peter said. “Come on”
He hauled himself up and crawled through the hole in the wall. The girls looked at each other, shrugged, and followed suit. The hole in the wall closed up again behind them, and they found themselves in a surprisingly spacious cave. They stood up, listening to the echoing drip of water.
“This is like something out of a film” Liz said, looking up at the faint pinpricks of light shining high above them.
“It’s kind of beautiful, in an eerie sort of way” Flo said, taking hold of Peter’s hand. “How do we get out?”
“We walk” Peter said. “There’s like, a bunch of different passages you can go down, if I remember rightly. It’s kinda like a dream: I can’t remember what’s real and what’s not”
They walked on, little lamps coming on and illuminating their path as they passed the motion sensors. It was like being in any old cave, the walls wet, stalactites coming down from the ceiling above them. But it was different too, with little cubby-holes in the walls illuminated with little green lights, sometimes pink - and they were certain they could hear soft music playing.
-
As they continued onwards, they reached a clearing, and found themselves faced with a huge waterfall spanning the whole wall.
“Oh dear” Flo said, biting her lip. “I think this is a dead end”
Peter looked at her. “No, no, I remember this bit!”
“You sound excited” Liz said.
“I am excited! The next bit is so nice once we get to it”
“Well, ok, but how do we get to it?”
Peter smiled at them and walked backwards, through the waterfall, and disappeared. Flo and Liz looked at each other.
“I feel like an idiot now”
“Me too”
They ducked their heads and walked through the waterfall. It was much better lit once they were through. They found they were now at the top of a stone-looking slide, and down below them was a pool, looking like something you’d find hidden in a real cave, all strangely shaped and rocky, but with gentle lights glowing under the water. Those same gently lit cubby-holes lined the walls, and that strange harp-and-xylophone music they’d heard so faintly before was now at it’s full volume.
“...This is so wasted here” Liz said. “This whole pool should be part of a resort or something. Everyone would love it”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right” Peter said, trying not to feel offended. “I kinda like knowing no one else has something like this though. It’s kinda special - if a bit extravagant”
“This is what happens when people have more money than they know what to do with” Flo said. “If you’re rich enough, you’re allowed to be eccentric”
“Mm... Can we leave the financial talk till later? Let’s swim”
He took hold of the girls hands and they slid down the slide together and into the little pool at the bottom. It was much warmer than the other parts of the pool, almost like a hot tub.
“It’s like a little fairy land” Flo said, floating on her back and looking up at the little lights. “It’s so beautiful”
“You need to get a waterproof camera and an Instagram account” Liz said. “There’s so much possibility here”
“I do have an Instagram: I just don’t use it much” Peter told her. “This place would be great for making little films in, don’t you think? Or doing photoshoots”
“It would certainly be an original setting, but I don’t think this is the kind of thing that you could properly capture the beauty of on camera”
“I’ll second that” Flo said, still on her back.
“Maybe I’d better try to get that waterproof camera then”
-
Shooting down the death slide and landing with an almighty splash in the rather normal front pool felt awfully strange and surreal.
“I feel like I’ve just returned from another world” Liz said, blinking a bit as she looked around. Everything looked so normal now, after clambering through caves and coves for so long.
“Me too, and I think I’ve got the tiredness to go with that kind of journey!” Peter said. “Do you two wanna swim for a bit longer?”
“Well, do you want to?” Flo asked.
Peter shook his head. “I’m tired. Is it ok if we get out?”
The girls smiled and gave him a quick hug.
“Sure thing”
-
Once mostly dry and dressed and back upstairs, still feeling as though they’d just stumbled out of a dream, the three teens cuddled up together on the sofa in the living room, blankets round their shoulders. Peter was in the middle, feeling very soft and sleepy and happy. He joined in the conversation for a while, but then fell quiet, just listening, and he soon fell asleep.
-
“You appear to have tired him out” Loki said, coming into the living room and finding the two girls talking quietly, with Peter asleep between them.
“I think we’re all tired out” Liz said. “That swimming pool is insane. Although I’m sure it’s more of a water park than just a pool. It’s incredible”
“So I’m told” Loki said, carefully lifting Peter up and settling him down on the armchair. “You know, you don’t have to hang about. He’s been very weak lately: he’ll probably be asleep for quite a while now”
“Oh, I don’t mind...” Flo said. “Liz?”
“Well. If he’s gonna be asleep for hours...”
“Liz is right, Flo. I’m sure you can quite easily entertain yourselves here, but Peter’s out for the count: he’s had a long day, and he needs to wind down. You should get your stuff together. I’ll ask Tony to drive you home”
Detailing Is Key: Fashion Accessories Your Outfit Needs
Detailing is key! We hear this all the time but what does it really mean? It’s not just about getting ready putting on some matching jewellery and shoes, it’s about the closer and smaller details that we usually don’t pay attention to. Why is it that whenever we spot something we don’t normally do on the runway we find it so fascinating and amazing? It’s because the designers are just showing you that there are thousands of possibilities of wearing something you thought could only be worn in a certain way. Fashion accessories play a huge part in our outfit details, this could mean from a tiny little brooch, earring, belt or even buttons that change the appearance completely. Looking back on the fashion weeks we got to see that this year clothing and fashion accessories were both heading in a bigger, giant-everything direction. ‘More is more’ is what to follow for 2017, so forget about all the minimalist fashion for a while and embrace anything big and bold.
Though there are a huge number of trends to follow when it comes to accessories this year, from new choker styles, big pendants, headbands and many more, we have put together our top 10 picks. If you give any of these 10 trends a shot you are definitely going to be in the limelight and will look like a real fashionista! Don’t forget to have fun with your look from time to time, sometimes just wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt can also look out of this world when it is styled well. Follow the phrase we heard all throughout fashion month – ‘the stranger, the better!’
Slap Bracelets
If you missed out on the joy of slap bracelets when you were a kid, it’s time to live those lost middle school moments now. We must say if you never had the experience you really did miss out on something special. I remember having some in all sorts of materials and colors and used to match them with my clothes! There have been many throwback trends that have been popping up and this is going to be huge since Balenciaga’s slap bracelets are on the market. They even come in neon colors just like how most of them used to be back in the day, the only difference is that it’s a high end product now. They are not the only brand that have come out with their own personalised slap bracelets which is good enough to prove that this accessory is going to very popular amongst the adults for the first time ever! If you think of it, it goes perfectly with another hot trend in the fashion world right now – athleisure. This could be because of the tight fit it has and the colors but it does give off a super sporty look.
Baker Boy Hats
Looking at these hats words such as newsboy, baker boy or cab driver are some people we connect it with. Notice how they all these people mentioned consist of men wearing it, but this was the case in the early 20th century and now our fashion girls from today are rocking it so well that we forget men ever wore them! Supermodels, designers and bloggers have all found a way to bring this hot new fashion accessory into their closets. Bella Hadid is specially someone we have noticed wearing this trend repeatedly and she looks amazing in every single look. During the Fall 2017 runway collections we saw these baker boys in every color and material showing us that it is definitely going to be a key accessory this year and we look forward to it.
Fishnet Tights
I think by now the majority of us have already given this trend a try, it has become so big that it’s hard to miss now. It’s truly amazing how a pair of tights can change a look drastically and become a must have in your wardrobe. Recently we put together our best picks on how some fashion girls were wearing the fishnet tights trend, check it out here. (HOW TO WEAR FISHNET TIGHTS LIKE A REAL FASHION GIRL)
Slogan Beach Hats
Summer is here so it’s not wrong to say that one of the fashion accessories you do need right now are beach hats. More specifically slogan sunhats, they are taking over Instagram like a storm! Of course there is another reason why they are so popular on Instagram – it makes it the most picture perfect post for your feed and the best beach post you can put up during the summer. Like many other beach hats they are wide-brimmed but they have amazing slogans stitched onto them such as: ‘Chase the sun’, ‘Here comes the sun’ and ‘Do not disturb’. They are the perfect holidays hats and explains how you are feeling in style.
Sunglasses
Are you someone who just likes to have a few classic sunglasses or someone with a whole drawer full of them? Either way it’s always nice to mix up stuff and definitely when it’s summer time, this will be one of those fashion accessories you wouldn’t want to step out of the house without. The sunglasses that are trending for 2017 are the tinted ones, they add some fun to your look and makes you look bright. Along with tinted sunglasses, cat-eye and aviator shapes are not going anywhere so soon.
Upper Arm Bracelets
This is one of those trends that keeps coming and going and to be honest it depends on one’s personal style. For some it would be a choice and for some you might have worn it when you dress up as a character. You might not admit it but when you are styling your look and wearing some bracelets around your wrist we are sure a few of those reached your upper arm just out of curiosity. If you haven’t tried this bracelet style, then this is the perfect time to try it as it’s summertime and your bare arms need some accessories. The most famous style these bracelets come in are cut out ones that wrap around your arm nicely showing off skin in between. On the Spring 2017 runway we even saw some of these upper arm bracelets worn over shirts and they were looking super cool!
Long Belts
Belts have a long history in fashion since it’s one product many are able to experiment with, this could either mean the way it’s worn, fabrics, thicknesses, embroideries etc. Every season we see a range of different belts with the recent one being the corset belt. Even though we are still loving the corset belt, the style has moved on to something that is super long. The super long belt is becoming one of the best fashion accessories of the year. The best way to wear it is over a coat or jacket in order to cinch in the waist. The belt should be that long that even after wrapping it around the ends should flap around the knees. Some people have been talking about how impractical it is but we don’t mind it!
Oversized Buttons
Have you ever given your buttons any importance, or looked closely at them while buying your clothes? Well if you haven’t now is the time! This spring look out for buttons, designers are loving their button detailing and they look beautiful when placed artfully. All you need to look out for when trying this trend is that the fabric should be very basic and so should the silhouette so that the buttons really stand out. Some beautiful big buttons are the only jewellery for your clothes your going to need this year where you won’t have to worry about anything else as much.
Mixed Earrings
While lobe stretching earrings and are still trending the new way to wear them is to mix it up. Mismatched earrings is very hot right now, it’s right in the face and all your attention will go there in confusion. Many of the most popular fashion accessories consist of jewellery and this particular type of jewellery are taking over the chokers! You might need to step outside your comfort zone to try this mismatched earring trend but when you do all eyes will be on you for sure.
Mini Bags
Mini bags is without a doubt one of the cutest fashion accessories you can own this year! From the many we have seen the definition of these mini bags are that they are smaller than a cross-body bag and bigger than a purse. Everything between that will be a mini bag and they are available in so many ways in almost every brand now. They remind is of the early 90s fashion and even though you might not be able to fit a whole lot of inside it, this accessory is there just for that final touch to your outfit! Designers like Chanel and Valentino were also seen showing their cute mini bags on the spring/summer 2017 runway. Get ready to show off these little beauties this year.
Our personal favourite are the slap bracelets (reminds us of our childhood) and the mini bags, they are so adorable and have made us forget all about those huge oversized bags everyone has been talking about! What was your favourite? Let us know in the comments below
