Unbearable heat

It's so hot.

And this time it's not because of Wei Ying's super hot boyfriend, Lan Zhan, who seems to raise Wei Ying's body temperature several degrees up simply by existing in his relative vicinity - and that's only because Lan Zhan isn't currently home. Not yet anyway.

But Wei Ying is and the damn heating system has decided it would not turn off anymore today for whatever goddamn reason - so Wei Ying is now sweating, on the floor, in a pair of very short shorts and nothing else, waiting for the repairman Lan Zhan said he hired.

Wei Ying is almost certain he's begun evaporating from existence, and opening the windows can do so much (after all, they live in a penthouse and the windows don't open fully for safety reasons) - so the moment there's a knock on the door, he springs to his feet (forgetting a shirt or a robe or anything else to cover up) and almost wants to kiss the man wearing the plumbing company's logo on his shirt (and Lan Zhan, who's apparently arrived at the same time with him). He refrains from doing either, though. Not the time for PDA when he's melting alive.

"You don't know how happy I am to see you!" Wei Ying exclaims, relieved, leading the repairman inside the apartment, towards their heating system units, acknowledging his boyfriend with a sweet smile.

"Yes, mr. Lan over here has told me the issue is quite pressing." And, as he follows behind, the man inadvertedly (who could blame him, really?) lets his eyes wander over Wei Ying's milky skin, stretched over his well-defined back muscles and towards his slim waist, all the way to his plush, round-

Lan Zhan hands the man a pile of documents in such a way that his view of Wei Ying's backside is obstructed entirely. The repairman likes to think he only imagined Lan Zhan glaring at him when they meet eyes (he didn't).

"This is the paperwork from the last system checkup." Lan Zhan clarifies. The man nods, looks over the specifications, and decides to set his toolbox down for a better look at the problem.

"You might want to take that jacket off, it's boiling in here." Wei Ying laughs and the ghost of a blush appears on the man's face. He's trying so hard not to look at Wei Ying's chest and abs and his V-line, obsessively repeats the company's code of conduct in his head and sheds his jacket.

Lan Zhan takes it from him (snatches, more like) to hang on the back of a chair, and this time the repairman is positive he's being glared at. He also knows he's distracted by the very hot, almost naked tenant that's only a few feet away from him, watching him closely.

"I think the issue is caused by the wiring in the thermostat, the heating unit is fine." The man says after a few initial verifications.

"I figured as much." Wei Ying sighs. "I told Lan Zhan that was it and to let me fix it myself, but he wouldn't listen."

"You're working in the field?"

"Oh, nothing like that!" He laughs, and the repairman is pretty sure he could fall in love with the sound. "I just like to mess around with stuff, find out how it works." A wink. "It's a given since I'm an engineer and all."

The man looks up from his toolbox, genuinely surprised. "Really?"

"Is that so shocking?" Wei Ying laughs again. "Do I not look like I could be?"

The repairman turns red and bites his tongue not to say Wei Ying looks more like a model (or a pornstar). If anybody comments on the blush, he can just blame it on the heat.

"What field of engineering do you work in?"

"Oh, I'm in nuclear engineering right now!" And the man is shocked how Wei Ying is so casual about it. This man is not only exceptionally attractive, but also exceptionally intelligent and skilled.

The repairman is trying so hard not to ask for his number right now - there's no ring on his finger and no coupley pictures around after all, maybe he could get away with the ethics code violation. However, there is intimidating and brooding mr. Lan Wangji who definitely does not like the repairman and who has been glaring craters into his skull since the moment he stepped in the apartment and first laid eyes on Wei Ying. Perhaps they're... a thing?

With a quiet sigh, the repairman gets to work. He struggles a bit with the electrical panel, embarrassingly so, and he's surprised when Wei Ying leans over him and, with some skillful movements of his fingers, detaches the troublesome pieces.

God, he's amazing.

"There you go! That part's always tricky, don't worry too much about it!"

He smiles at the repairman and his hair frames his face so beautifully and-

"Wei Ying. Let mister..."

"Li." The man completes, quickly, a bit offended that Lan Wangji forgot his name despite the big lettering on his nametag and the fact that Lan Wangji himself hired him.

"Let mister Li finish his work. Do not disturb him."

"Oh, it's no-" but mr. Li shuts up when he feels like Lan Zhan is 3 seconds away from smashing his skull in given the dark look in his eyes.

"Come with me."

Wei Ying lets out a happy sound. "Okay! If you need anything, mr. Li, we're in the-"

"Bedroom." Lan Zhan completes, only a bit too cocky.

Mister Li looks away quickly. "R-Right."

"See yourself out when you finish, won't you?" Lan Zhan speaks, again, not bothering to conceal a smirk as he lets his hand cup at one of Wei Ying's asscheeks.

Mister Li finishes up just as erratic moaning begins filling the apartment.

I just came across a Xicheng anti post where the main complaint was apparently how if Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen were to get together, it would be a toxic relationship because JC's "core traits" are being unlikeable, jealous and petty and then this person wrote "I think it's really telling how JC stans think that toxic levels of jealousy is a demonstration of love". I'm not a huge JC fan, and while I'm a Xicheng shipper, I think people disliking the ship is their own business and also valid - but I think it was the judgemental tone that got to me. What do you mean "I think it's telling that JC stans -" no, stop right there.

Honey. Babe. I hate to break it to you but LWJ is canonically just as jealous, possessive and sometimes petty in the romantic trope type of way (don't forget apparently horny 24/7) - while JC's apparent toxicity within a relationship specifically is still a product of your speculation. And even though lwj has those traits, people rarely condense those as his "core personality", so why are you taking JC's worst traits and doing exactly that? And y'know what, a lot of hardcore wangxian shippers also think that LWJ's oftentimes unbelievable amounts of jealousy is "a demonstration of love" as you so aptly put (which y'know, I'm not here to judge if people like that, you do you, live your life). If you're gonna make sweeping judgements like that, why don't you take a look at the entire fandom, YOURSELF, and moreover, the entire source material, instead of just making up headcanons in your mind spouting some kind of hypocritical bs, and moreover, judging people for it? You can dislike a character, or a ship, but that's going too far.

we talk a lot about wwx being victimized but what is with people turning lwj into some sort of toxic villain who murders everyone on sight like a petty, unhealthily jealous xueyang-wannabe because “oh someone talked bad about my baby wei ying, now they shall DIE.”

the way the resentful energy does affect his temperament is rly nice bc its not too in your face,(i mean outside of the Shaky Hands of Rage) but like he clearly has a much lesser control on his anger and impulsivity (tall order) than both before bm and after hes ressurected

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

One of my favorite ideas for the LSZ is WRH's son concept is an au where WRH survives the ssc (maybe he's too weak or is in a coma from his injuries for some time so he wasn't able to stop the aftermath of the ssc) and he's now a hermit living in a mountain in qishan away from society because he wants to be left alone to meditate and contemplate on his past mistakes in peace believing that he is the only one that's left of his whole clan

And since he's living in isolation he doesn't hear about wwx's return or the downfall of JGY or the fact that WN is alive and then one day he meet LSZ on some night hunt and he immediately recognizes his youngest child that he thought was dead years ago but he has no proof and LSZ evades all questions about his birth so WRH decides to investigate and finds out WN is alive and goes to find him and when he does WN reveals everything

I suppose LSZ's reaction at 1st would be hostile to WRH, he would refuse to even recognize him as his father, which would be normal but eventually LSZ comes to term with it and starts to accept him

Meanwhile wangxian are shocked at 1st but then very protective of LSZ because they don't trust WRH but ultimately they will respect LSZ's choice if he wants a relationship with his birth father

I'm thinking wangxian and WRH eventually reach an agreement to not try to kill each other and let bygones be bygones for LSZ's sake but that doesn't mean they will get along

In fact this starts a rivalry between WX and WRH. On one side WRH is jealous that wangxian (especially lwj) are the ones that raised his son and thus they're the ones who know him best they're the ones he goes to for comfort when in pain they're the ones he sees as a role model... Etc meanwhile wangxian are jealous that WRH shares something with LSZ that they can never have, the bond of blood, they also feel that WRH tries to encroach on their territory and that he's trying to draw LSZ away from them and the Lans so they don't trust him at all.

So the 3 of them are extremely passive aggressive and petty to each other especially behind LSZ's back, the juniors even dub it "the war of the dads" and start a betting pool on whose going to win

This goes on until LSZ falls into some grave danger and wangxian and WRH have to work together to help him and they eventually end up realizing that they all care for him the same way and only want him to be safe and happy and so they learn to coexist

Lan Sizhui has never been hostile to anyone in his life, but he decides his first victim will be this sad and lonely hermit who committed the crime of *checks notes* being a Wen?? lol

My feelings on Wangxian+son and the erasure of the Wen Remnants as also being Wen Yuan's family aside, so long as Lan Sizhui looks at Wen Ruohan and eventually says, "Hello... Dad," with his nerves all in bundles and choked with emotion, I can roll with this! Wen Ruohan coming in post-canon to shake things up and Lan Sizhui getting more Wen fam is a lot of fun!

Also just imagine Wei Wuxian having flashbacks to this moment:

Wen Yuan immediately shook his head, whispering, "…I won't go… I still want Granny."

Wei WuXian pressed, "You want Granny, but not me?"

Wei Wuxian just cannot become Wen Yuan/Lan Sizhui's favorite!? Because even once all the Wen are dead, they are now coming back to life apparently, just like he did lmao

An alternative thought I have on all this is based on how Wen Ruohan had Wen Zhuliu protect Wen Chao, which makes me struggle to see Wen Ruohan being confrontational towards Lan Wangji for, essentially, protecting and caring for Wen Yuan. I know it's less dramatic than a big comedic family feud, but I personally find it more compelling to have a situation where Wen Ruohan might feel indebted to Lan Wangji.

(Wen Ruohan and Wei Wuxian's situation would be far more rocky considering Wei Wuxian hunted Wen for sport for three years and rumor has it that the Wen Remnants were Wei Wuxian's slaves/servants lol But Wei Wuxian still saved a group of them all the same!! Or tried to save them...)

Which is to say the real hostility in all this would might come from the Lan Sect and the Lan Sect rules. In the Iron Hook extras, Lan Sizhui can't even admit he's scared because it goes against the Lan Sect rules, and he fears being punished by Lan Wangji if he confesses to it. Imagine Wen Ruohan's alarm, to hear that his happy and lovable and playful child was stifled to such a degree!

Wen Ruohan, "Thank you for protecting and raising A-Yuan, but also Xu-er might have had a point about burning this place to the ground. No child should ever have to live here."

(But at least Wen Yuan had a chance to live!)

Although we should really consider a post-conclusion where it's Granny Wen that Lan Sizhui remembers and loves the most LOL

Now that lwj is all put together again, we see wwx, jc, and wq have a conversation that i think counts as a wangxian moment

Jc and wq both start throwing questions at our boys about where they’ve been and what they were doing and all that

Lwj looks very uncomfortable about all the questions.

Lans don’t lie (supposedly; lwj is such a stickler at this point in his life he def doesn’t lie)

So wwx swoops in to ~rescue~ him!!

He answers all the questions by lying thru his teeth: oh yeah, we got lost and trapped and swam for hours and hours in an underground, waterlogged maze that definitely exists before we finally found a way out!! I almost froze to death (he says with a whine bc that’s just how he is lol)

Once he finishes answering all those questions he turns to share THE CUTEST LITTLE SECRET SMILE WITH LWJ. SO ADORABLE GUYS, HOW IS HE REAL

Lwj sees it and HAS TO LOOK AWAY

Then ~THEIR SONG~ starts playing in the background AND THEY SEND OFF THEIR LANTERN TOGETHER, WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT GENERALLY ONLY ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED COUPLES DO 

as is shown by how everyone’s trying to get jyl and jzx (aka our token heteros) to send off a lantern together

The pair of them, need i remind you, are currently betrothed (even tho that dumb peacock doesn’t deserve her)

so yeah, that’s totally not gay at all

WWX makes his wish: “I wish to always stand with justice and live without regrets”

THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE MOMENT. 

THIS IS WHEN LWJ FALLS IN LOVE, I SWEAR

LWJ is watching wwx as he’s making that wish (more of an oath, really), and as soon as he hears those words, his eyes widen the way they do when someone gets hit with a life-altering realization. He’s completely thunderstruck

YOU CAN PRACTICALLY SEE CUPID’S ARROW STICKING OUT OF HIS CHEST (OR WHATEVER ANCIENT FANTASY CHINA EQUIVALENT THERE IS)

For real tho, after this moment, we really don’t see lwj be angry towards wwx like he has been. Annoyed and exasperated at him, sure, but never angry in a petty mean way like before.

The next wangxian moment isn’t nearly as intense but it happens shortly after the lantern scene

Wwx goes to beat the shit out of jzx for saying he doesn’t want to marry jyl (because jzx is a moron and definitely deserves a beat down for this insult)

Wwx and jzx are surrounded by a group of loud, flailing people

And lwj just dives right into that throng of people to get to wwx (contrast this to a scene in a later episode where he actively avoids going anywhere near a much calmer, collected group of people bc ew people)

Lwj: *grabs at wwx* stop, wei ying

Wwx: DON’T STOP ME, LAN ZHAN, IM GONNA KILL THIS GUY DEAD IS2G

Next wangxian scene takes place the following morning

Lwj is walking along minding his own business and sees wwx kneeling as punishment for the fight before

He approaches him and calls out to him.

THIS IS IMPORTANT

This is the first time we see him willingly initiate interaction with wwx. Every other time, wwx was the one to approach him first and start to pester him for attention.

BUT LOL JOKE’S ON HIM. THE FIRST TIME HE DARES TO APPROACH WWX FIRST AND HE IMMEDIATELY REGRETS IT

‘Oh hey lan zhan’ wwx responds to LWJ. ‘look at all these little ants i found on the ground!!’

‘OMG WWX YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE KNEELING TO REFLECT ON YOUR MISDEEDS NOT TO PLAY WITH ANTS. SO UNTEACHABLE’ *walks off in a huff*

Wwx is left pouting and saying ‘but the ants are so cute.’

But gets tugged away by his fam, HOWEVER he manages to hear lxc telling lwj to be careful in that foreboding Important Plot Things Are Afoot sort of way

And wwx makes the effort to go back to talk to lwj but jc grabs him and yanks him out by the arm

Jc: are you crazy?? That guy hates you!! He must be happy you’re leaving

Wwx: LIES AND SLANDER, everyone here LOVES me

Idk about everyone, but lwj definitely loves him and jc knows nothing

now it’s THE RETURN OF WINGMAN LXC

The lan bros are watching the yunmeng sibs leave

Lxc: gosh, it’s gonna be quiet here without him, huh? (HIM, HE SAYS, NOT ‘THEM,’ HIM! BC HE TOTALLY KNOWS WHO LWJ IS ACTUALLY WATCHING)

Lwj: *looks down to the floor and refuses to answer*

Then as he’s bonding with the bunny he gets the epiphany that OMG LWJ IS GOING ON THAT SUPER IMPORTANT MISSION ALONE, WITHOUT HIM

And that’s the end of that episode. 

but we got to see the EXACT MOMENT LWJ falls in love for real. And it’s BEAUTIFUL. Not to mention the we were gifted the accidentally-falling-on-top-of-each-other trope. 

and we got bunnies! did i mention the bunnies and wwx being adorable together? because that happened.

Ah, this is the show that just gives and gives *wipes away tears* what did we do to deserve it?

MTXT novels body sharing aus

I have considered a Wei Wuxian & Mo Xuanyu body sharing au. The problem is I only have vague ideas and no actual plot to bind anything together so I won’t write this anytime soon. 

I love the Body Sharing trope whether it is adversarial, teamwork-like or both. 

Just some mentions of favs/dynamics I’ve seen:

Eddie & Venom, Drake & Riot (Venom), Ling Yao & Greed (Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood), Demon King and Orchid (Demon King/The Parting of the Orchid and Cang), Ichigo and Hollow Ichigo (Bleach), Daisuke & Dark, Satoshi & Krad (DN Angel), Yugi and Atem (Yugioh)

Greedling (<3) and Symbrock are my favorite teamwork-type body sharing. 

Hollow Ichigo & Ichigo and Demon King & Orchid are my favorite adversarial-type body sharing. 

That being said, here’s my random ideas:

Wei Wuxian and Mo Xuanyu body sharing AU 

-Mo Xuanyu was about to leave after the ritual but WWX does the spiritual equivalent of grabbing MXY’s ghost ankle so he gets dragged back in the body. 

-WWX complains and informs LWJ that sharing body with MXY is like being aware a bed is only meant for one person but there’s two on it. But it’s WWX’s fault MXY is not long gone by now. 

-LWJ constantly eats vinegar because MXY is carrying WWX’s soul, and has him locked up, and that’s what’s LWJ has basically wanted.    

-It’s MXY’s body so he has more power than WWX does but not by much. WWX calls to MXY the landlord. 

-MXY lends WWX his knowledge of Jin sect swordplay at some point. they have to use Jin and Jiang sect swordplay against Jin Ling, who also knows both... 

-MXY has poor self-esteem and is generally negative while WWX is very confident and has a positive attitude, so he gives MXY pep talks. 

-MXY can steal sensation away from WWX, like when WWX goes drinking, WWX drinks alot but doesn’t feel the slightest buzz because MXY is taking it all since he’s mad at WWX due to reasons. as a result his soul is super drunk and just to be petty WWX throws control of the body to MXY, so LWJ has to take care of a really drunk MXY.  

-Wei Wuxian says they should keep their body sharing a secret but he is the one who accidentally says 我们 (We) to LWJ, in the phrase “we think you’re a handsome guy” and LWJ already knew something was off but WWX referred to himself as “we”, what the frick. 

-WWX has been dead for a long time he’s missed a lot of sensation. what I mean is he wants to jerk off but MXY is like um, wtf, self-care is a personal thing, not generally done for others to see. there’s negotiations and stuff but when WWX is actually doing it (or they both are) he can tell MXY is thinking of LWJ, for some reason???

-WWX and MXY have different sleep schedules so there’s a period of time in the morning where WWX isn’t awake yet but MXY and LWJ already are and LWJ chooses this time to confront MXY and they talk about stuff.   

Shen Yuan and Shen Qingqiu sharing a body AU 

-a disaster, both of them are constantly fighting each other. right hand controlled by one fights the left hand controlled by the other. walking is even a chore at first. but SQQ can hear the system too and Shen Yuan lays the book’s plot on him so together they decide the way to avoid death is to become the best mentor ever and when LBH rules the world he’ll repay them with riches and binches (SQQ’s words). 

-SY sometimes withdraws and doesn’t observe what’s going on or what SQQ is doing. SY usually voluntarily does this when SQQ announces he has to bathe. However, SY returned to consciousness earlier one time because he felt something was off and he becomes alert to SQQ trying to murder LBH.   

SY: I thought you were bathing???

SQQ: I lied.

So SY has to brave being around even when SQQ is washing because he doesn’t trust him anymore. he has to be alert always. 

-SQQ calls SY his significant other. SY thinks he’s joking and they don’t have the same definition. SQQ slowly falls for SY but interprets his own feelings for SY as annoyance and hatred (lmao).  

-both SY and SQQ end up having no idea LBH fell for them but the moment LBH makes it clear to SQQ first, SQQ is like yeah, sure. he’s all mine. because he had been jealous of the description of LBH’s large harem and he wanted it gone, and it is because of this infatuation.

-SY and SQQ are separated at one point when SY gets his own plant body.  

-uh, idk how tumblr’s bot filters work but,

SQQ is not good at sharing. neither is LBH, but for SY they make exceptions.  

they will have a 3p and i have detailed expectations of how it will go. seeing that SQQ and LBH are in a hatemance, SY says he’ll go rather than come between the two of them.  

in english to “come” is the euphemism for 0rgasm but in chinese it is “go”. but anyway SY should have picked his words better because LBH says that’s a great idea, SY should “come“ between him and SQQ. 

LBH gets inside of SY while SY is inside of SQQ (who did say he missed SY being inside of him so). and the activity’s pace is basically controlled by LBH because every time he thrusts into SY, the momentum sends SY’s hips snapping forward into SQQ. and SQQ calls SY’s name but SY is like ....bro, I’m not even doing any of the work here.
