Hello, I have not posted anything in ages but here is a thing I made in February 2019 and am now sharing in February 2020 (Lmao). 

Good thing I made this on youtube because I lost my 8tracks password and also 8tracks is dead.

There is something very uncomfortable with how frequently we joke about NMJ acting abusively towards JGY, whether it is verbally degrading him or threats of violence.

There are so many jokes where NMJ threatens JGY and JGY reacts with fear.

Or jokes where NMJ says something degrading to JGY and JGY isn’t able to talk back.

That’s all. That’s the punchline. The fear response and the powerlessness to challenge your superior.

I think it’s especially uncomfortable because they really didn’t have a balanced relationship in life. They didn’t banter. For the most part, when NMJ berates JGY, JGY doesn’t talk back. When NMJ threatens JGY with violence, JGY shows genuine fear. The one time JGY did talk back ended with him being kicked down the stairs, and he backed down and (outwardly) deferred to NMJ immediately after.

He talked back once and was “put into his place”.

Regardless of whether you care for JGY or think he is a snek, the fear of abuse is… Not a good thing to use as a punchline.

I won’t police how you wanna fandom but just… Be more cognisant?

Well I've been reading "Remains" and honestly... my favorite thing is how unpredictable it is. I can never quite guess where the fic is gonna go. Just... your brain is an interesting place.

thanks! my brain IS an interesting place...you actually have no idea how much weirder it can get...even though yr the only one I’ve told anything extra to. (okay, maybe you do know because of the “not quite an OC” Nie Sect member, but still) when I said I wrote 5000 words on Saturday, that was because I decided to really involve Qin Su and figured out 85% of her role. Now today I’ve manifested yet another arc for “Remains”, to further flesh out how JGS is a Whole Mess, though I already have 3-4 plot points for that, and to give more “screen time” to Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli, though they are already quite prominent, mainly to serve as a contrast and as a “rivalry” to JGY and NMJ. I don’t know how I ever believed this would be a simple fic I could finish within 25,000 words. The incomplete drafts/collection of scenes I have is already well over that (at 30,000) Every week it metamorphs...

tfw when someone translates your fanfic without informing you

Just now I answered an ask someone had about translating one of my fanfics. I said yes. 

I was reminded of a past instance I gave someone permission to translate one of my fanfics, the fic was for another fandom on another fanfic account (non-chinese novel) that I no longer log onto. The translator translated two chapters and stopped updating, I decided to google the name of my fic and my pen name to check the status of the project again and it’s still the same, I checked the translator's wordpress and the project hasn’t updated since 2017. They have no obligation to finish it, I’m just happy there was extra comments to read, extra reactions to the fanfic I wrote.  

And to my shock, in the google search results, I also discovered that someone else has translated that same fanfic of mine (posted to wattpad, to a different language than above), and they never asked my permission! o__o I logged onto the email of my old fanfiction account and it turned out the last comment I had received on any fic at all on that account was on 12/28/2018...

Meanwhile, the wattpad person started their project on late December 2018 and their last update was the first of March 2019. The fanfic of mine they are translating is about 30 chapters long and 50,000 words and they are already up to chapter 13. They did give me proper credit, saying I was the original fanfic author...but they never asked me and said they wanted to translate. I didn’t know this project existed until I happened to google my fic because I was curious about the state of the translation project I did give permission for.  

Now I have over a 100 comments to read because of the way wattpad was designed that lets people comment on specific lines. I’m not going to contact the translator to whinge even though it’s bad etiquette because I’m lazy but also they are fifteen and I don’t want to contact a teenager with this complaint. I’m honestly just shook I have more comments to read related to a translated version of a thing I wrote, and really wished they told me because what if I never found out because they didn’t tell me!!! 

TLDR: if you are going to translate someone’s fanfic please inform and ask them or they will never know about your project and be able to read a new audience’s reactions to the fic.

Hello! Sorry to bother you. I've read your fic "I Want to Be Well" and promptly fell in love with it. It has a combination of drama and irony that sounds just right to me. Oh, and Harry Potter references. That was fun too! I'd like very much to translate it to Russian, so that my non-english-speaking friends could enjoy it too. Of course, I will give proper credit and link to your page. May I have your permission for translation please? =)
