i don't want to get ahead of myself because the olympics will be in two years from now but the amount of pressure connor mcdavid will face it......................... especially because this generation of usa hockey is stacked and might easily win it too......................

yeah it honestly makes me so sick to think about missing multiple olympics during an entire generation's prime. it's not even just connor, it's quite literally all his peers; a whole chunk of some really elite players who won't get multiple cracks at medaling. like it's completely possible we get some of these guys in that age range for a single olympics. 2026 could have been their third. i actually genuinely cannot think about it too long it makes me too angry!! like i know i know. it's not that deep. but it means so, so much to these guys, and international best on best does so much to grow the game in countries besides the big five or six hockey nations. and even in those, it'll reinvigorate the interest!

i'm really, really excited to go back. it's so so bittersweet though.

to your original point — i am so sorry i got carried away — i think canada is always going to be good. but dare i say... on paper.... if we went today.... the americans have the edge... especially in net. but a lot can happen in the next two years. i just have every finger crossed that all of these guys that have been waiting for so long to be able to go wear their country's crest at the olympics will stay healthy and get the opportunity to do so.
