Hey ade! Long time no see! My school started back up again, and I just had a huge paper due. It feels a weight off my shoulders for now, but I know this semester is going to progressively get worse… so I’m trying to hang on. Therefore, I’ve been very excited in looking at your regular updates for Spellbound Secrets! So I think I’ll be waiting till it finishes so I can binge read it! I’m sure it’s awesome! Although I hope I can continue reading it if it doesn’t make me uncomfortable, because I have this weird feeling where I feel like I’m betraying Satan by reading something romantic related to the rest of the cast. It’s a stupid reason, I know T^T But! I was wondering what your thesis is- like what you’re working on! Because as a HUGE chem lover, and by that extension- science, I’m curious! Not only is my favourite author writing about my favourite character, but they’re also interested in a field I adore so much?? You just keep getting cooler and cooler in my eyes!

omg you just made my day so much better! some stuff happened this morning and it's a giant mess, but i'm working through it a little at a time. saw this earlier and couldn't answer until now because i too was on the schoolwork grind. not that i procrastinated, but i spent all of yesterday doing one assignment because i didn't get it and really wanted to. so that left everything for today. not my most well played move, but hey! i think i get that thing now haha

honestly, i totally get the feeling like you're betraying your fav thing. live laugh love satan. i have no clue how i ended up writing a solomon fic before satan. since i'm a loyal fan, i have been sprinkling little satan moments in there even though he's not actually present haha. i'll probably continue to do that and once he actually comes back (because the end goal is to find the brothers) i'll have actual moments of mc and satan together. my favoritism shines through especially where i not so casually mentioned his pact mark was over mc's heart. yeah, i'm not slick LOL. he's just the best, i don't make the rules! not sure how long the fic is going to be yet, but i think it's going to be longer than i had originally planned just because of the way i'm breaking it up from what i had written down in my notes. before i started writing the fic, i jotted down every single plot point in bullet points and then expanded from there. each bullet point was supposed to be a chapter, but things got derailed pretty quickly and i'm not totally sticking with my plan either haha. maybe once the fic is complete, i'll release what i originally had planned so everyone can see the first working draft

you didn't hear this from me, but i do have this fun little idea that might be able to make a fic if i work on it more. it's still a wip, but it's essentially a satan x ghost reader fic! reader would be a ghost haunting the HoL, but i'm not sure if i would make the ghost mc or not. either way it would create some problems, but like i said, it's essentially still an idea in my idea list lol. i have time to iron it out. i had a couple cute scenes planned out so even if it doesn't make it to full form fic it can become a oneshot. ghost reader helping satan find the book his looking for by pushing it off a high shelf, or ghost reader growing to love him from a distance! possibilities are endless. i also have that satan shower drabble still like half done, and i have another fun series planned! the concept for that is loosely meeting the brothers in the human world without knowing they're demons. also might do a oneshot, or mini-fic/series that's only a few parts long that's kinda like a dnd campaign type thing? it's not been fleshed out enough yet, but the main characters are mc, and the anti-luci league (+ mephi). the love interest is still undecided but knowing me, it will become satan lol

but enough about that for now! school just started for me too. it's the start of week three and i feel like i'm already losing my mind haha. i love love love science! i'm a general biology major and it is my love. in high school, i was the only one crazy enough to take A Level AICE Biology. loved my bio teacher so much! my undergrad research is all about finding, isolating, and researching an individual bacteriophage. like, totally undiscovered! i'm such a nerd about that because i think it's super cool. i can't wait to be able to show off my phage! this week, we actually get to go find it by collecting some soil samples and next week, we start the isolating process. i absolutely cannot wait to find mine! i plan to name mine after my high school bio teacher as a thank you for helping me find my passion. it's going to be entered in a real database! if it's unique enough, it'll be sent off for more indepth gene analysis. today in class i accidently spilt bacteria on my bench... the professor didn't see but i did have to seriously scrub my bench afterwards lol. the lab itself is really cool too! the lab budget difference from high school to college is crazy because now i handle 1000 dollar equipment (that's kind of easy to break mind you) and bacteria on a daily basis. the most they entrusted us with in high was the hot plate to heat up water lol. the bacteria isn't super dangerous, but one of the strains we are working with is related to the bacteria that causes TB. the end goal is to of course find something new and unique to study, but it might be useful for helping cure diseases and stuff like that. besides my research, i'm also in bio and chem. so far so good but wow does my chem professor speak fast haha. despite the work, i am excited! so far so good

wow i really yapped. you mentioned the two things i love most: satan and science haha. if you'd mentioned cats at all i think this would have been another fat paragraph of text longer. i know we're both counting down the days until the end of the semester. we can make it!

Late on Christmas eve 1996, Mulder showed up to Scully’s apartment unannounced, covered in snow, and poorly hiding a wrapped box behind his back. She invited him in and offered to let him stay and warm up a little, already heading to the kitchen to give him some hot chocolate. He dismissed her explaining that he was heading up to Massachusetts first thing in the morning. 

After a beat of silence, Mulder nodded to the gift, now placed on the counter next to her.

She smiled, turning to untie the bow and rip at the shiny paper. “It’s heavy,” she noticed.She glanced up at Mulder in an attempt to reveal some sort of clue.

Mulder stepped forward to assist Scully, who was now struggling to get the object unstuck from the box. “Yeah,” he joked, “I got you a new weight set.”

Scully returned her own incredulous smile, letting Mulder unwrap her gift. When he held out a large bundle of tissue paper, Scully ripped away the last few layers of packaging. It was then that she could see a tiny landscape surrounded in flurries of sparkling white snow. “Oh, Mulder!” she gasped, bending to get a closer look.

“I remembered what you said about your grandmother’s snow globe collection, and I know it’s kind of cheesy and it might not be-”

“Mulder, it’s perfect,” she beamed, moving her hands under Mulder’s, finally feeling the full weight of the decoration. 

“Merry Christmas, Scully.”

“Merry Christmas, Mulder.”

I absolutely love how this piece turned out. I got the idea after I made some glitter tinsel in yesterday's drawing, but I wasn’t sure if it would work liked I hoped it would. It absolutely did, and I think it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever made.

Hiiii long sappy post ahead but read for info about the upcoming release of my college fic in bold!!

I’m just over halfway through final edits and the final word count is hovering at around *drum roll* 127k words 😳 If you've been following, I know what you're thinking, yes that is more words than the first draft, I promise I did cut some stuff, this is what we're working with 🤪

So now I'm like... pretty much ready for it to be out in the world? And I hope everyone loves it as much as I do because it really has become very dear to me 🥹 Structure-wise it's appalling, clearly there's still so much that needs to be cut but I'm too attached to it. But emotionally, I think it hits all the right places, there are points it makes me want to cry, there are points it was pure torture to write and yet this doesn't even cover as many years as the real life pre-relationship, there are scenes where I really think the writing is beautiful if I do say so myself. It strayed a little further from real life than I think I originally thought it might but there are still a lot of moments that feel very real to me, or at least to what I imagine they could have been. And this particular characterisation of them? They're my babies. And I had to keep reminding myself while writing it that at this point they WERE babies (18 and 21??????) 😭

I’m very excited to post the first chapter tomorrow (for a reason that will be revealed) and then twice weekly after that on Wednesdays and Saturdays 🗓 Mostly because I don't know if or when I'll write another fic so I'm not ready for this one to be over too quickly 🥺 (Side note: definitely not ruling another fic out! I truly love writing these two so much and if inspiration strikes me again I'm sure I would go for it, but this was the last solid idea I had for a whole fic and I think that's part of why I've taken so much care over it and made it so fucking long trying to include every possible idea I had, because if I am going out on this I want to be going out on a high, which I think this is. I'm gonna try and shift focus to working on some original stuff and we'll just see what happens on the fic front. Anyway!) But when I was calculating dates I realised a twice weekly schedule also means it'll be starting in September and ending in May, which feels like a fitting span for this story, even though it takes place over several years 💙💛

It's going to be a longgg journey, but I hope you'll join me for it, if you want. I've been thinking it might be fun to post the wattpad links to each chapter on here along with a little mini commentary of any thoughts I have about it, any BTS on the process, songs that particularly fit?? I know that’s what author’s notes are for but I feel more connected to my tumblr audience than to wattpad, you know? I don't know, let me know ✏️ But I'm grateful for anyone that wants to read it and any and all feedback. It's rare for me to love my writing as much as I do with this fic but I think it's because of how grounded in reality it is, they definitely feel the most true to the way I see Joey and Lauren that I've ever written them. And I'm really excited to share it with you 🥰

It started off as a single oneshot after AVPW and I now have like 175k total reads across all my works 🤯 I know that's probably the same 5 people rereading them thousands of times but that's still an absolutely mind blowing number for me. I might not have rediscovered my love of writing if it weren't for all of you. Thank you 💗

Other than that I'm doing okay, though! Still really excited that the Lodestar.sys zine is out (I still think my piece in there is one of the best things I've ever written), but besides that most of my energy is spent keeping track of kittens so other things have been put on the backburner:

With them in mind, my bookbinding experiments have been put on the backburner for a while; I'm about halfway through my test copy of Crown of Shadows, though -- the signatures are all folded and stitched, the textblock has been sanded, the endpapers are attached (though I want to give the whole thing a final sanding to get things nice and even), and the covers have been cut to size -- and I think it's coming together really nicely so far! I'm thinking about kicking into it again this weekend, since I'd like to get a few copies of Proof of Life together to use as a testing ground for some cover stuff I want to play with before going all-out on the hardcover.

After Crown of Shadows (which I might make another copy or two of, just to keep trying my hand at the flat back book format, we'll see) I'd really like to do a copy of Heart of the Moon with a rounded back, since that one's so much bigger: Crown of Shadows clocks in around 41.5k words and I managed to fit it into 6 signatures (a little big for a flat back, but still reasonably in range for it), while Heart of the Moon sits at 60k and looks like it'll need 11 signatures total, making it a good choice for experimenting with rounding.

(Once I have a little more experience with different formats under my belt, I'd really like to start binding more of my favorite fics and trying to get in touch with the authors to gift them copies of their works; I'm starting with mine since they're just for me, so it's fine if they go sidways...though I guess if anyone would want a hard copy of something I've written, let me know?)

Aside from there, I've been thinking about picking up a video game again but haven't done it yet (again, in part because of kittens who are Too Interested in the TV sometimes). Choices are between Legends Arceus again since I still want a shiny Hisuian Zorua or two, Horizon: Zero Dawn since I picked that one up a while ago and still haven't finished out the damn intro, the latest God of War because it's all Norse mythology and I'm predictable, or Three Houses to finish out that Azure Moon playthrough and go back to Claude because I love and miss him...but I haven't committed.

Instead I've just been playing stuff in the background and occasionally paying attention. I had a craving for Retro Anime recently and picked up Detective Conan again (I love this comedy murder show but it messes me up sometimes, there are some heavy episodes). Also finished Spy x Family and I'm sobbing I love them and October can't get here soon enough because then I get both the second half of Spy x Family's first season and Season 3 of Mob Psycho 100 which I am so stoked for you have no idea. And lucky for me, Nona the Ninth comes out in September, which should tide me over until the new anime I yearn for arrives.

Writing has been stalled basically since the start of the year and continues as such. I'm still stuck with just chapter 7 of last year's Chrobin Week to finish, and I have a bunch of other ideas that I'd like to start exploring, both for Awakening and Three Houses (since I'm desperately missing Claude), as well as an original piece that I've been rolling around for years that's come back to the forefront recently. We'll see what if anything comes out of any of that, but it might just end up being a sparse year on writing.

Anyway yes that's my long-winded status update ramble
