Hisuian Zoroark is one of the sickest designs in pokemon, but the model on that bloke is FUCKED. It's really bad. If they bother to port her over to other games, you know they ain't changing that model, either, 'cept to make the textures paler & duller.
I continue to despise pokemon, despite being a pokemon fan, I fucken guess. At this point, I gotta go all in on summat else, like Cassette beasts.
#gale chatter#i have MINOR problems with the beasts but they are nothing + I ain't abt to be negative abt it online#it's a good game made by good people my complaints are so tiny you NEED to play it#if you like me wish pokemon would do more fun interesting things or miss spritework in ur pokemon#u need to try cassette beasts. I'll admit i haven't beaten it but what I've seen in the story is INSANE#also i generally try not to talk smack about indie games it just ain't right. biggest ip on the planet‚ however‚#i can talk shit about pokemon all damn day.#the fucking way they keep using the same models the most minimal of animations & the pokemon keep getting pale as shit#to the point that pokemon like pichu are fucken impossible to tell from their shiny (slightly paler pichu)#the way that the designs are done in 2D & designed in it but then when it comes time to model they just. lose all charm#you get designs that were obviously not intended to have full 360 turnabouts (h. zoroark & emboar)#then you get deisgns that lose all their charm when modeled. in example -- look at the boltund model next to the art.#it's. bad. those are different animals. i feel NOTHING for the boltund model. it has no heart nor care in it just a means to an end#the gameplay never changes the sories have ALWAYS been lackluster they introduce cool ideas every other gen & ABANDON THEM#SO YOU HAVE A REASON TO BUY THE NEXT ONE BC IT HAS A NEW IDEA. MEGA EVOS WHAT'S THAT? DYNAMAX NOW.#the way they slice up the games to have exclusives SPECIFICALLY to piecemeal them back to you in 2 different games#so you either need to buy both (THAT IS 120 DOLLARS) or pay for online + have a friend. it has always been predatory.#it's. BAD.#& let's not pretend that 1/2 the lazy work is because the workers HAVE to be lazy. they pump these games out so fast that#nobody has time to write & revise & rewrite the stories which is fucking GLARING when you play sword or violet#in violet it is blatantly obvious they had the end planned first & then made up the rest as they went but had a hard time#connecting it back to the end so there's a noteable rush in the game & it sucks also if you call that game nonlinear i will attack you#IT ISN'T. IT IS DESIGNED SO THAT YOU NEED. TO GO IN A SPECIFIC ORDER. BECAUSE OF THE LEVELS#otherwise you'll hit a lvl 60 gym at lvl 40 then have to go back to fight the lvl 40 gym at lvl 70#the studio rushes their workers & it results in sloppy implimentation of halfbaked mechanics & poor deisgns & writing#i pray that if there is a god that nintendo actually does slow down on these shits i would like the games my little cousins play#to not be such fucken rushed & undercooked hot garbage. fuck you

Redesign of my Emboar line redesign since I learned how to draw Pokemon a bit better (2021 version + design explanation below the cut)
Since I kept the old theme, they're still based on the boar mounts of Norse deities Freyr and Freyja (Gullinbursti and Hildisvíni), complete with armor, horn-like ears, and Emboar's saddle and viking ship-like shields. Emboar's helmet is also based on babirusas :)

Okay so this has been bugging me for a while now: you said that Jared would have a normal type gym in the Occulus AU, but the man looks like he was made to lead a team of Machamp, Gurrdurr, Hitmonlee, Emboar, Poliwrath and his ace and prolly fursona Buzzwole. I fully support Melanie being a fighting gym leader because god shed pull it off but it physically pains me that Jared doesn't have a team of similarly beefed up weirdos with bulging muscles and veins all over the place. Can you expand a bit about his normal type gym?
...is his team just four Dittos, a Blissey and a Snorlax? Please say yes. That'd be be even more perfect thst a team full of beefcakes.
Actually hang on I think I'm warming up to it as I type. Ditto (shapeshifting), Slaking (big and beefy), Snorlax (big and beefy), Smeargle (steal opponents' moves like Jared steals bones etc), Blissey (big and tanky, plus I think it'd be funny) and either Lopunny, Ambipom or Diggersby for the additional pair of limbs/ears used to punch the shit out of things. Definitely at least one of the three and at least one Ditto.
Yes? No? Maybe? Is that the vibe?
The Normal Type thing was from when I initially started laying down the lore for the AU!
In the first draft of the AU’s gimmick, different Fears were mapped to different Pokémon types, and Pokémon of that type got a sort of Fear-based power boost. These mappings were:
The Eye - Psychic
The Lonely - Ice
The Desolation - Fire
The Dark - Dark (duh)
The Vast - Flying
The Spiral - Electric
The Slaughter - Fighting
The Flesh - Normal
The Hunt - Dragon
The Web - Bug
The Corruption - Poison
The Buried - Ground
The Stranger - Fairy
The End - Ghost
The Extinction - Steel
Because of the nature of the gimmick as it was, I really didn't want to assign two fears to the same type - for example, The Eye and The Spiral can both be Psychic, but I felt like none of the other types fit The Eye as well and The Spiral could be mapped to Electric with some light mental gymnastics (The Spiral is also associated with fractals, fractals -> lightning -> Electric, also something something brain signals)
I assigned The Flesh to Normal because it felt. The fleshiest?? To me? If that makes sense? Like most all people and Pokémon are probably made of meat (I can’t believe I wrote that LMFAO) and I see Normal as a sort of “default” type that kind of. Makes up everything? It’s a bit hard to put into words lol. Normal Type is also a really versatile type, which sort of fits with the shapeshifting aspect of The Flesh
(EDIT: Oh I just thought of the WORST reason why Normal Type fits The Flesh - a good chunk of Pokémon that are based on livestock (Miltank, Tauros, Wooloo, etc) are Normal Types. And The Flesh emerged because of factory farms. It’s so awful but IT WORKS.)
Even when I scrapped the old gimmick I held on to the old type assignments for the gym leaders, which is part of why Jared is the Normal type gym leader
BUT YEAH the vibe for Jared’s team you described is EXACTLY what I was aiming for! :D
Though come to think of it, I could prooobably come up with a beefy Normal/Fighting type Fakemon for Jared to fill that last slot in his team. Maybe something with bone gauntlets :)
OOH I’m also mildly obsessed with the flesh garden episode of magnus so a Fakemon inspired by it could be fun
(I watch a bunch of Fakemon designing videos on YouTube and one I watched recently was horror themed, and the artists talked about how the juxtaposition of a Pokémon that looks really strange and a bit fucked up just being a Normal Type can be leveraged for horror, and I kind of latched onto that idea)

Imma talk about digimon for like a minute so bear with me because uh...
Cringe ahead.
Digimon is a very.. interesting series which I have had a long relationship with. You see "I'm not like other boys" (god kill me PLEASE!) because I just didn't care for Pokemon, I liked shit like Yu-Gi-Oh (cause I just couldn't be anymore lame) because the monster designs were awesome to me. I didn't like Pokemon because it felt so.. cutesy. I'm not saying that's a problem I just at that point in my life found any pokemon remotely interesting... Maybe infernape and emboar because those designs were cool as fuck (I'm not gonna talk about the fire fighting debacle because I'm sorry I just don't get it. Yes without hindsight it seemed like a trend pokemon was going down but outside of that there's nothing wrong with that.) but when I saw digimon I didn't feel that disconnect, yes by all accounts digimon does try to be a little cute but to me it didn't feel like 100% of the monsters were there to be cute and marketable. I thought kabuterimon was cool as shit because of how ugly it was, it wasn't human but it didn't matter to me because it looked like an actual monster. I Loved skull greymon because it was so fucking intimidating, I was literally skeleton of a dinosaur back from the dead with a missile to its back and a second ribcage attached to its back, that was metal as shit and I was all for it.
.. we are not going to talk about angewomon.. we are not going to talk about her... I don't wanna be bullied by the Internet.
A lot of the digimon designs I loved and while I could never keep up with the anime I still loved it.
Og adventure while a product of its time is still fun and I enjoy watching through it. Seeing T.K. grow and becoming more than just Matt's little brother, I loved seeing Izzy connecting with the group and also his interactions with tentomon because those two understand eachother.
Mimi.. look imma be honest I didn't get Mimi and I never got to be able to really connect with sora.
I liked how it was a little more mature especially later on, it wasn't dense in meaning studying the characters but it still felt.. real. T.K and Matt's parents not being Together and T.K being confused on why his family just can't be whole is real, while I couldn't relate to it at the time fully I felt it.
Now I can't say I got tai but I was enjoying Matt's character (what can I say even Young I liked characters who acted more mature.. I'm not bi though I just respect Matt's care for his little brother... I feel like that will get taken out of context.)
Adventure 02 kind of clicked with me, I definitely liked Cody and surprisingly yolei of all characters. I couldn't connect to Davis because much like tai I respected him but I couldn't relate to him.
Now I unfortunately don't have a lot of opinions on 02 because I didn't get to watch almost any of it which sucked.
As for tamers? Oh god where do I begin? Look I'm not gonna be the first to say that tamers has good writing but honestly.. I don't think it's as good as a lot of the fandom says.
It isn't garbage, hell no. But I just don't enjoy it as much. I enjoyed impmon as a character but he was the only character I had strong opinions on.
We are not talking about Renamon. We are NEVER going to talk about Renamon. Moving on.
Frontiers is a oddball, because.. I love it, it is not by any means ground breaking, as it felt somewhat like a soft reboot. But honestly the one thing that drew me into this show was the spirit evolutions, and imma be honest I think once I finally get the chance to rewatch the first four installments of Digimon I'm gonna be locking in on digimon frontiers because I genuinely want to talk about this anime.
But then.. then there's digimon data squad... Now blame it on me liking burst modes and actually liking Marcus as a character.. but like
Digimon data squad is my everything. Primarily it's burst modes that is just always a cool concept because I'm a sucker for mode changes.
You have to have no whimsy in your heart to look at the concept of punching a digimon in the face while yelling "it's fighting time" and not find it baller as shit.. and also just so dumb, and so funny. You have to have no sense of whimsy and if that is the case.. we can't be friends.
As for fusion.. oh god digimon fusion.
Look I hate digimon fusion.. so much,I like a lot of the digimon designs but the anime just grinds my gears with how much it just is a KIDS show. And I mean that in the most insulting way imaginable and specifically mean digimon fusion, not xros wars. Because when it comes to fusion a lot of the story and the characters are just lame. And it feels like I'm watching something that has no respect for its audience.
I understand if people like fusion.. I cannot enjoy it because I think its focused audience.. is for kids specifically.
But why do I talk about digimon? Why do I dedicate an entire post to it?
Because ladies and gentlemen one it is cool as shit and two there are so many stories that can be told using digimon. I love this franchise because It appeals to every neuron in my brain, it scratches an itch I have for monster design and a lot of the stories that it tells are just so interesting and/or very ent, I've especially been reading a lot of Digimon liberator and it actually got me interested in the card game of all things. I've been playing digimon survive and I've gotten invested in these characters (I know I'm going to have to go down wrathful and harmonious I just need to prepare myself for the fact some of my favorite characters are going to die.. oh god I don't wanna see Ryo die AGAIN!)
Digimon means something to me because one it appeals to me in terms of monster design (I will always prefer more monstrous digimon but I'm not gonna bitch about it.) but also in terms of the stories you can tell with the setting. Digimon can be used as a metaphor for human psychology (hell digimon being influenced by their partners, that has so much potential to dive into) digimon has a lot of value to me because it's a lot more open for interpretation and allows it to be more mature with the stories.
But that's my rambling. I apologize to everyone that this is nonsense but I felt like talking about something from my childhood that means a lot to me.
#i apologize to every digimon fan that this is not your daily dose of digi tumblr#digimon#digimon means a lot to me.#glitch talks about digimon

can you. talk about nate hilbertverse
yes GOD this poor guy.
first off: nate is hilbert's little brother- 6 years his junior. he'd always looked up to hilbert as a role model, idolizing him especially after his ascension to hero of ideals. keep in mind that nate was only 10 when bw happened, so his understanding of the situation was surface-level and admittedly naïve. even when hilbert had been hospitalized for his injuries, he'd put on a brave face for nate, so the latter didn't grasp the severity of what happened/was happening.... it wouldn't be until later that the reality of how scary this was would sink in.
freshly 11 yrs old when hilbert left unova, nate was then sent off to aspertia to live with the other half of the family (hilda, rosa, and their mom) so he could enroll in cheren's trainer's school with rosa and earn his permit. the idea was also a way to provide him with a distraction from hilbert's absence since nate was a lonely kid... but anyway, this permit allowed them to participate in the junior division of the pokemon league challenge, meaning if either of them won, they'd be a champion in name only. that didnt happen but i'll get to why in a second.
when he was 12, despite setting out with the intention of collecting gym badges, hugh and nate quickly veered off course when team neo-plasma began showing its face around the region, urging the two of them to give chase in a bid to get some answers out of them. in the process, nate came across and befriended keldeo, and then, upon meeting colress, was dubbed something akin to his protégé.
this of course all came to a head in giant chasm. there... something happened that left nate almost a completely different person. not only had he been told, to his face, that his big brother was gone for good, but his right arm was caught in the line of kyurem's glaciate.
like his brother before him, nate was then hospitalized for a considerable amount of time, and like theyd done for his brother before him, interpol came swooping in make use of nate at his lowest. because, technically, hilbert had been working with them when he disappeared, so they had to take some accountability in his case... and what better way that to employ his little brother, i guess.
before his journey, nate was a sweet, excitable kid, although he struggled with tone. afterwards... it's like he struggles to recognize any emotion at all. he's blunt, does not have time for distractions, he gets unreal tunnel vision and dedicates years working on tying up loose ends regarding hilbert- such as the whereabouts of the dark stone and anything he might have left behind that nate can bring back home... rosa thinks its a pointless obsession and would rather forget about it all, and this resulted in a fight that drove a wedge between the two of them. :(
this was supposed to be a brief summary and its already gotten this long LOL... i had to skip over some details that i'll revisit in other posts later. like n's zorua. theres a lot going on with a lot of the hilbertverse cast and nate is no exception.
some more trivia, though:
reshiram would have accepted him as a hero of truth if he'd agreed to it... but hes very different from n. his pursuit of truth is one devoid of idealism- he has no hope, no optimism, he only wants to get the facts to provide some sense of closure.
his full name is nathaniel tobias black. do not ever call him this
his birthday is may 4
he has two shinies, those being his emboar and his galvantula. lucky bastard
we really dont know what gender his emboar is? most just assume its a male, but it responds to whatever. really it does what it wants. its name is samson and its parents are bianca and hilda's emboars.
his prosthetic arm was designed and built by colress. the guy likes to think of himself as nate's mentor, even though he's one of the main factors behind why nate's even going through what he is in the first place...
and finally, although it's currently only 3 songs long, heres his playlist!

For starter pokemon, it depends on the gen, and it mostly just goes off vibes. The more I work on this, the more I hammer it out though.
Part of the problem is that some gens have more than 3 potential people who need a starter, so like in gen 1, I have chosen to allow Leaf and Green to coexist, and in gen 2 you obviously have a trio instead of a duo of protags.
For gen 1 I've solved this by chucking an Evee at Leaf and letting Red, Blue, and Green keep their manga starters. Something similar will probably happen in other gens.
Basically, if a protagonist has a really strong association with one starter, I give it to them and work everything else out from there.
So far I have for Gen 1:
Red: Venosaur, Blue: Charizard, Green: Blastoise, Leaf: Evee (probably)
Gen 2:
Ethan: Cyndaquil, Kris: Feraligatr, Lyra: Meganium, Silver: something else I haven't picked yet, probably a zubat. I have plans for it's friendship evo tying into Silver's redemption arc. Basically, when Silver stole the initial pokemon, Ethan Kris and Lyra ganged up on him and took it back, so he had to get a different starter.
Gen 3:
Brendan: Sceptile, May: Blaziken, Wally: Raltz.
Gen 4:
Barry: Empoleon, so subsequently Dawn: Infernape, Lucas: Torterra. I don't strongly associate Lucas or Dawn with these two, but me and a lot of other people strongly associate Barry with Empoleon, so that's how it shakes out.
Also. As someone who did swap Lucas and Dawn just for fun fairly regularly, I just really like assistant Lucas's personality. A lot more than assistant Dawn's. It's subtle differences but it's there, and I would probably give protag!Lucas his assistant personality anyway, where the same is not true for Dawn. A lot of it has to do with how Dawn is like. More responsible as the assistant. She's more dedicated to her job and to teaching you stuff. Lucas is more chill and kind of bumbling, and I like that for him. He has to discover who he is and fight to become more competent.
Gen 5
Hilbert: Samurott Hilda: Emboar Bianca: Musharna, Cheren: Stoutland. Stoutland and Musharna are Cheren and Bianca's ace pokemon anyway, so I let them have it. Serperior doesn't get used here, but I make up for it later so, whatever.
Also, while I do love the weird old fashioned names Hilbert and Hilda, I am irrationally annoyed that they start with the same syllable, so I've replaced them with their fan placeholder names of Blake and Whitley.
Rosa: Serperior, Nate: Samurott, Hugh: Emboar. This is mostly because I associate Rosa with Serperior though. I also associate Hugh with Emboar, but that's because Snivy is my favorite starter out of ALL of them, so I always played B2W2 against Hugh with an Emboar.
After this, we get into games I haven't played and am gonna have to go looking for the script to remind myself who the hell the rivals are, but I still managed to develop opinions about the protagonists based on design vibes and silly fancomics and watching nuzlockes and stuff.
I really strongly associate Serena with Delfox and Gloria with Cinderace, but I otherwise have very few opinions here. Need to read the script and look into their masters versions.
ohohoho fascinating!

Chapter 43- Part 7
Okay, that was step one, step two- time to make things even worse for this computer!
Oh, not even a “Yes” or “No” prompt? Just…goes automatically? Yeesh, imagine if someone with a Data Chip triggered this event by accident-
Yeah, yup, mm-hm, this is how my laptop acts on a daily basis, this is definitely normal.
Me too, computer.
GAH, WHAT THE-!? PORYGON WHY DID YOU GLITCH THE WORLD!?
Soooo, uuuh…yeah, that's the last encounter for right now! Porygon! I love Porygon, those who follow my blog should know this, I have a whole tag dedicated to appreciation of Porygon, but I am still very terrified of…whatever this glitchy Field is!
Okay, okay, let's just…take it slow, and start by paralyzing it like usual.
That's…just not correct…
But anyways, Glare™ was successful, so let's just try our first Ball? I don't feel comfortable using any moves on it lest I risk knocking it out, so…
NO, THAT WAS MY LUXURY BALL TOO! Now I have to use a boring ol’ Great Ball!
My first idea was to name it after some kinda coding language, but considering how…quirky some of them are (like- Java, Python, c'mon this guy deserves better than that), I just decided to name it after polygons. I've been rapid-firing these nicknames all day, my brain is becoming more deep-fried by the minute, cut me some slack.
Now, the last thing I wanna check is that new Department Store floor. According to the elevator lady, it's got type effectiveness Berries- but does it have all of them?
Yes they do! Oh, this is so great, I'll definitely have to keep this in mind for future battles, I don't care how expensive these fruits are they are useful! What say you, nameless woman?
I'd like some Berry Trees too, honestly- I just like running around watering and picking Berries from them, that was like a good chunk of the time I spent in Brilliant Diamond.
Alright, I'm satisfied with that, so it's time to get ready for Noel...again. I already discussed my theories and plans for him, but just in case you forgot (and it’s been a few chapters, so I wouldn’t blame you), here's the summarized version:
I already know Noel is gonna have a Clefable, so the other most likely candidates for his team are: Furret, Sawsbuck, Kangaskhan, Kecleon, Blissey, Pyroar, and/or Bewear.
Normal-types are only weak to Fighting, Ghost-types are immune to them and Rock- and Steel-types resist them, not to mention Grassy Terrain provides a boost to both Grass- and Fire-type attacks.
I’m bringing Riptide because he’s the partner Pokémon, Glare for Intimidate support, Bloom for the Growth boost and potential to do big special damage, Wulfrum for the quad resistance to Normal and as a possible Clefable counter, Vulcan as the designated Fighting-type and for the Field’s Fire attack boost, and Jack as the designated Ghost-type and for the Field’s Grass attack boost (on the physical side this time).
Got all that? Great, let's get the team back together! And…huh…
Wasn't that Thick Fat before? I mean Reckless is more accurate, that's what Emboar’s Hidden Ability is supposed to be, fair enough, but still- huh.
Anyways, team's back together:
Same items, Wulfrum with the Zoom Lens, Jack with the Elemental Seed, Vulcan with the Charcoal.
Also it's snowing again, that'll be fun to deal with. No, I'm not going to change the weather to something more advantageous for Xera, I'm only gonna use it for static Pokémon encounters.

Fighting type!
Fighting is such a fun type!! It got a lot of flack for the longest time for having uninspired design, but I think people are really sleeping on some really fun and interesting fighting-type pokemon in both the gameplay and aesthetic departments of the last few generations. Also fun fact, if you were to design a pokemon around my personality it would almost certainly be a fighting/fairy dual-type.
My six favorite fighting-type pokemon are Pangoro, Emboar, Pheromosa, Sirfetch'd, Sneasler, and Mienshao!!! But God this is like, maybe the hardest type for me to narrow down to six, there are so many other 'mons in this type that I love so much: Poliwrath, Quaquaval, Grapploct, Heracross, Urshifu, I could go on for hours.

Yo I'd never seen Gliscor before but they look awesome!! They're like a scorpion bat fusion!! Here's mine
Metagross, Noivern, Gengar, Dragapult, Emboar and Swampert!
As a teen when I first discovered pokemon Noivern was my favourite, probably because I was still in my dragon/HTTYD phase and I thought Noivern looked the coolest out of the dragon like Pokemon. Gengar has also always been a favourite since I was teen, like every wanna be edgy teen I thought Gengar looked cool
Swampert was my favourite starter evolution when I was teen because again, I thought he looked the most dragon like (I never really grew out of my HTTYD phase, if it looks dragon like I'll love it), and Mudkip is also adorable so of course I'd love his evolution forms.
Emboar I started to like as of recent, they just look really good and I love their big bushy brow thingies on their design. Same for Metagross, I also think he looks really cool, and my brain made the comparison of him to a crab so when I get a Metagross plushy (yes I am set on getting one), I'm nicknaming him Crab (ye I know there are crab like pokemon but I like Metagross so shhh-)
And Dragapult. Dragon looking Pokémon with little baby missile dragons in it's horns for free. Need I say more?
If any pokemon fans want to tell me if I'd be find or cooked in the pokemon world with this team please do, but just know, my mind is set on this team and I'm not ever gunna change it
My Pokemon Team (as of 2024)
@palettepainter and I are making our ideal Pokemon teams. This is mine.
Houndoom - I have always liked the dog Pokemon and when I got my first Manectric card in middle school, I fell in love. But once mega forms were introduced, Houndoom just became 200% cooler. And who could say no to a face like that?
Besides looks, Houndoom can be a pretty strong Pokemon, being a fire/dark type who mostly live in packs. The Pokédex entry suggests that if you get hit by its fire, the pain will never go away. Creepy, but effective.
Absol - This is also a Pokemon that I fell in love with their mega form before their original form. Also, Absol is just very mysterious in general. Being known as the "Disaster Pokemon" doesn't help its reputation, but it still deserves love for a unique design.
Absol is a dark type Pokemon with a calm disposition and a humanoid face. It also dislikes fighting, so it doesn't like changing into its mega form, which I would be fine with.
Hydreigon - I cannot make my team without a dragon type (says the person obsessed with dragons), and what's more dragon than Hydreigon? Since the Pokemon Anime had a Black and White episode dedicated to Iris taming one, I thought it was the coolest thing.
Hydreigon is a very destructive dark/dragon type Pokemon with only the middle head having a brain and just attacking/biting everything it comes across, but I'm sure with a lot of patience (and bandages), it could be trained.
Gliscor - No Pokemon team is complete without a Pokemon who can fly (in my opinion), and that goes to Gliscor with an interesting design for both stages. I have the Gligar Pokemon card and was on the hunt for the Gliscor card before I stopped collecting them.
Gliscor is a ground/flying type that looks to be a mix between a bat and a scorpion. Also, IT CAN GROW TO 6'07". That is insane when compared to its first stage, where it's half that height.
Decidueye - In terms of Pokemon name memorization goes, I stopped after we hit the Alola region, but I remember loving the Owl starter that was an archer (during my small archer phase). The glow up from a small owl to a Robin Hood-esque vibe is really cool.
Decidueye is a grass/dark type who fires arrow quills from its wings with precise aiming that it never misses. It also pulls on the vines of its hood to aid in focus. I also think he's just so badass.
Glaceon - Somehow, I never escape the Eeveelutions, so let's go with one of my favorites: Glaceon. I had a Glaceon action figure that I brought everywhere along with my other Pokemon figures.
Glaceon is an ice type who can freeze the air around itself to make small ice crystals. It does this by controlling its own body heat so that it drops to a freezing level.
The whole team, with their types put into thought, are very strong against Ghost and Fairy type Pokemon, but weak to Fighting type. I put my team in this website to see the strengths, weaknesses, etc. https://richi3f.github.io/pokemon-team-planner/plan/#home
My previous team consisted of Houndoom, Absol, Hydreigon, Gengar, Chandelure, and a shiny Sylveon, and the team before that was basically Manectric, Hawlucha, and Lucario (a mix of Pokemon figurines and cards).
#Pokemon#Oh to have a bunch of pokemon friends and go on adventures together#Your team looks awesome Darrow btw!#Palette talks

PKMN Black 2: PSYCHONAUTS EDITION
Hoooo so hey remember when I first put out the sketches for Emboar!Helmut and Levanny!Bob?
Yeah I finished the rest of the team! I also had the idea to like little “Trainer Journal” entries so those will be down below.
First up! The first two members of the team: Helmut and Bob!
These two are def one heck of a duo. Emboars are already hard hitters but Bob was also one of the powerhouses on the team. I also just... I like fire as an emotion signaler? So Helmut get flamin brows and colourful fire! Bob took a couple tries to get right but I’m real happy with how he came out.
Next is Cassie and Compton
Cassie being an Excadrill is more circumstance. I told my friend that I’d be finally playing through all of Black 2, and he asked if he could suggest a mon. He suggested Excadrill, and I found a female one, and thus, she’s now Cassie.
And boi Excadrills really are terrifying. So she ended up being Powerhouse #3. Now Compton! Tiny tiny fluffy boi. Compton was never going to be a part of my battle team, but it felt wrong to leave one out. So Compton became the Minccino you get from the first Hidden Grotto. If we were in Kalos he would 100% be a Meowstic.
Next is FOOOOOORD
One of my rules for this game was that I wanted to use poke’mon I never had, mostly. I needed a flying type, and I was suggested Sigilyph. So congrats Ford! You are officially the ONLY Psychic type on the team and one of the weirdest poke’mon.
Now we start getting to the big ones. In Size
LUCY! Y’all know Jellicents are bleedin huge? So, She and Cassie are the ones I took the most liberty with in terms of design, like shrinking down that head and turning most of the fluff into her headscarf.
She and Ford are also one of the more fragile team members. Given the chance, they can deal with things, but for tricky fights, the 3 hard and tanky hitters will take the brunt of damage.
And last but not least.
Otto
HE’S FUCKING HUGE
I DIDN’T REALIZE HOW BIG ELEKTROSSES ARE HOLY SHIT. So... yes I raised a Tynamo as soon as I got to Chargestone Cavern. Yes it took a long time. I needed an Electric type xD
These were real fun to make ahahah! Now then, I will leave you with their heights all stacked together, and the journal notes under a cut.
Enjoy!
{Trainer Journal}
Bianca and Professor Juniper wanted me to do something extra along side filling up the Pokedex. Apparently the Pokedex has all generalized data and not much on variations and mutations that could happen naturally. So they asked that I keep an eye out on my journey. Not a problem!
{Helmut} =Tepig
-So far so normal. He is pretty new to the world after all. He has taken a shine to the Sewaddle I caught a little while ago. Does not like the Azurill... I mean... I kinda get it. Little gal is real angry.
=Pignite -First variation. According to the Dex, Pignites have these curl designs and straight bands, but Helmut’s got like... leaf cut outs and the bands are like... arches. His fire’s weird too. It’s got green and pink in there sometime.
-Second variation. We just got a Drilbur, and I named her Cassie. Helmut’s really friendly so he bounced on over to her. Aaaand pretty soon after I think I saw more orange in his fire. I thought it was weakening but nope, just can be a more orange fire. Weird.
-Random note: Helmut saw a beanie in Castelia. He rocked the Bug gym, as I expected, so I figured why not. Thank Arceus they had one that was fire proof. Pros: He’s happy and immediately bounced over to Bob to show him. Cons: He will not take it off anymore.
- Third Fire. Got a Sigilyph, and now his fire’s got blue and green in them now. Professor what does this mean.
=Emboar
-FIRE HIS DAMN FIRE IS A RAINBOW. -Does not have the large curly designs on his chest. Instead it’s more leaf patterns. He’s also way more hued in colour than most Emboars.
-Do Fire types’ fire normally react to their emotions like this? If he’s with Compton, his fire turns purple sometimes. It also turns purple when he’s stressed. It dies down if it’s blue, and it tends to be green and pink around Bob.
-Also Helmut definitely has a crush on Bob. And I think it’s reciprocated. I am worried about their typings but wow it’s cute.
-Helmut’s eyebrows are on fire.
-It seems like Helmut’s really influenced by the team. They each gave him a new colour for his flames, and I think he’s building a small psychic resistance. Not a lot but it’s there.
-I don’t think there’s any way to replicate this kinda of variation. Helmut’s always been sensitive to his surroundings. Might just be a him thing.
{Bob} =Sewaddle
-Little guy took a shine to Helmut really quickly. Woulda figured the type matchup wouldn’t let that happen too well.
-His attacks aren’t... totally inaccurate but I’m a bit worried. It’s not too bad right now but seriously no other Sewaddle has this issue as far as I’ve seen.
-According to the dex, the only difference between males and females is height. We’ll see dex. We’ll see.
=Swadloon
-Glasses. He needed glasses. What- how- Professor did you know some mons need GLASSES???
-He’s made his own by using twigs he got before we left for Castelia and is using the harbor water as lenses. I am taking him to an eye doc for proper lenses.
-Now that he can see his own reflection in windows, he keeps scratching at his chin and face. I wonder what he’s thinkin.
//He wants what you humans call a beard// -FORD GET OUT OF MY NOTES
=Levanny
-Shit. Ford was right. Good for him then.
-His leaf hood looks a bit more like a mane hahah. He looks good, got a tie, his legs have faint stripes (Makes me think of plaid stuff) and he has a flower tucked on his chest. Helmut gave him flowers so he seems to just switch them out.
-He’s taller than an average male Leavanny. Thicker too. Just as fast though.
{Cassie} =Drilburr
-I’m concerned about that giant hole in the sewers. Ah well, caught a Drilburr. Nothing out of the ordinary. Except some slightly loose skin at the top. Like a Purrloin.
=Excadrill
-... Okay... That pattern is WILDLY different than normal Excadrills. Where’d the yellow come from? Helmut??
-The loose skin makes more sense now. She can flip her top drill up and down like a visor.
-Thinner than most Excadrills, according to the group.
-Clay has an Excadrill, so I asked to compare. Wow males are WAY tinier than males. Also the visor helmet thing is apparently singular to Cassie.
{Ford}
-We were out in the Relic Castle desert, and I kept coming across Sigilyphs. And then we came across one that looked... Like it had a moustache?? T’was also bigger than the others. Turns out it’s because he’s male. I call him Ford now.
-He’s pretty grumpy
//Oh like the Swadloon ain’t.//
-The grumpy eyes are on the body as well. Mismatched too. They’re also green instead of blue like normal ones.
//Not a word about the eyes.//
-Sigilyphs are weird.
//Why you-// (the ink scribbles to the edge)
-I KNEW IT! FORD OUT OF MY NOTES!
//IT’S MY JOURNAL ENTRY I DESERVE TO WRITE IN IT//
{Compton} =Minccinno
-Okay so... This little guy is beyond skittish. I didn’t even dare to fight him. No way, nope, bad time. I’m just gonna leave him alone. -Scratch that he got even more anxious when we tried to leave. I am at an impasse.
-Okay so Ford and Cassie managed to make him calmer. Good. Maybe we can get out of here now.
-Nope he’s latched onto Cassie. Okay buddy here’s a ball.
-No way I am letting him be a part of the main battle party but he could be nice to have around. He’s got a cute bowler hat too.
-I got to check his tail. It’s more curly than normal I think.
-I may let him fight a bit, just so he doesn’t fall behind the team too much. In case there’s bad situation.
=Cinccinno
-Well he certainly poofed out. His white fur is all poofy and curly instead of straight.
-He’s... really well versed in berries and teas. Made some good stuff. -How is this mon better at cooking than me. He’s cooking from now on.
//For the best.//
{Lucy} = Frillish
-I spotted her back in Virbank ages ago but I couldn’t surf. Moment I could, I had Ford fly us back her to find her. What do you know, she was still there.
-So normal Frillish have a collar around their neck. This one has a hood apparently. I wonder if she’ll keep it.
- Eyes are a teal green instead of red.
=Jellicent
-...
-PROFFESSOR
-Wildly different from normal Jellicent. No huge head for one. She did keep the scarf hood, all that fluff that is normally there turned into that. She’s super flowy.
-She’s got little... dashes in her hood, almost looks like raindrops.
-Man the dex entry. I can see how.
-Ford quit making goo goo eyes with the ship sinker.
//No.//
-Great I have two of them now.
{Otto} =Tynamo
-This little guy annoyed Ford for a good while before I chucked a quick ball at him. Now the two are getting along pretty well.
-Seems to have more fins than a normal Tynamo.
-The EXP share is going on you buddy boi.
=Eelektrik
-THE FACE! HAHAHAHA!
-The spots aren’t circular. Looks more like a toddler drew them on.
-Definitely has more fin frills than normal. It almost looks like a mullet.
-He found goggles. I don’t know where but he did.
-He got chewed out by Compton after he messed with the food. I think he was trying to experiment.
=Eelektross
-SWEET ARCEUS ON TOAST
-HE’S BIGGER THAN EVERYONE HOLY SHIT.
-Antenna is... jagged. More like a thunderbolt. The fin there is spikier too. Makes me think of a thunderbolt. As if he wasn’t electric enough.
-The spots turned into a swirl on his big fish mitts. Looks cool.
-Blue eyes rather than red.
====================
Out of all of them, Helmut had the most changes. I wonder if it’s because he went through the whole adventure compared to the others. But he was also way more sensitive to the world.
Maybe that’s his mutation. Almost like Eevee but not quite.
How I ended up with such a bizarre team I don’t know.
Wouldn’t trade ‘em for the world.

This may seem like an odd question, but really think about it... How many Pokemon have letters of the alphabet on their design? 🤔
Interesting question! My immediate thoughts were Hisuian Qwilfish (q), Overqwil (Q), and Machoke, Machamp, Gigantamax Machamp (P) as the obvious ones, but I also consider Mega Camerupt (M) to count, since it's a clear reference to Team Magma's M logo.
There are some you could say are a stretch, like Pokemon with rings or ovals that looks like Os, or crisscross markings that look like Xs, Emboar's markings being a sideways S, etc. Also of course there's Unown, which don't have letters on them but are literally based on the alphabet.
I'm sure I'm missing some, though?

Rank the starters
Gen 1
Squirtle line: 10/10 would recommend, had one and I loved my blastoise dearly
Charmmander line: 6/10 overrated
Bulbasaur line: the chunky baby to big boy pipeline I give many kisses 10/10
Gen 2
Chickorita line: 5/10 little weird but it’s got spirit
Cyndaquil line: 10/10 they’ve got an awkward teen phase and I’m a little biased because I thought a typhlosion was a real weather pattern
Totodile line: 10/10 just a little bitey guy and I love all their names, exceptionally fun name scheme
Gen 3
I’ve really got the least experience with these ones. Don’t know why I’ve just seen em the least.
Mudkip line: 10/10 A derp. A real derp and it’s always a derp
Torchic line: 8/10 Fighting fire chicken. Cool (though I do not like Combusken at all-)
Treecko line: 3/10 I get what it’s going for but I…don’t really like how they executed it.
Gen 4
Thanks to the rereleases I actually played this one!
Chimchar line: 100/10 no I’m not biased cuz he was my starter leave me alone-
Turtwig line: 10/10 love the idea and execution behind these guys!
Piplup line: 4/10 I love the actual first form but the other two I really don’t-
Gen 5
I remember these guys unreasonably well, I guess I watched a decent amount of this season to remember it.
Snivy line: 4/10 like the actual first two designs, don’t like the third. The general personality of this line I don’t like. Little grass twerp is judging me-
Tepig line: 10/10 Chunky to WWE pipeline, also Emboar is fun to say and I like it’s tag teaming with the anteater thing against the metal ants. I like those kinds of prey predator relationships in Pokémon
Oshawott line: 3/10, like Oshawott, don’t like the other two that much. It does get another point for the name reminding me of osha though.
Gen 6
Played these games too!
Fennekin line: 8/10 despite my bias cuz it was my starter I really hate how delphox looks. I wish it quadrupedal. If I were to replay X I’d see if I can find and everstone and just keep Braxian
Chespin line: 1/10 I don’t like where he goes at all I wish he’d just stayed a little guy
Froakie line: 10/10 Cute little guy to edgy ninja pipeline!
Gen 7
Played em!
Litten line: 8/10 same issues as the Fennekin line, would’ve much rather stopped at the quadrupedal stage two Torracat. Plus I really like the name Torracat
Rowlet line: 10/10 Cool line! Starts squishy and ends mysteriously!
Popplio line: 4/10? I’m kinda neutral on this whole line-
Gen 8
We all know why I didn’t play this mess, this isn’t gonna be pretty
Grookey line: 2/10 I don’t hate Grookey or Rillaboom but like. Rillaboom seems like the type of Pokémon a gay kid has before he realizes he’s gay because it’s just a gymbro
Scorbunny line: 5/10 mehs all around
Sobble line: 5/10 M e h
Gen 9
The newest one-
Sprigatito line: 3/10 it starts cute then what the fuck. LET THE DAMN CATS BE QUADRUPEDAL
Furcoco line: 2/10 I’m not into the concepts or the execution of these little guys
Quaxly line: 1/10 what the hell happened to its color scheme and why it’s legs suddenly get so thick-

Thoughts on my favorite fire starter’s delphox and emboar?
Delphox has always been pretty solid in my opinion. A fennec fox with a witch/oracle theme is hard to screw up, and I like the direction this takes with it in particular. The way its fur forms long flowing "robes" is really cool, and helps enhance the theme while still looking organic.
I should also point out that the item (in this case, the stick) is also well done. It's clear where it gets it from (as it's something it can easily pick up from the environment), it's explained why it uses it (as a focus to see into the future), and it enhances the theme (by serving as a wand). Solid.
While the design is good as a whole, there are a few odd things about it that I think could've been improved. Namely, those weird shapes on the knees; they don't really match the rest of the design and aren't needed in the slightest. The hands and feet are also like 20% too small.
And finally, there's a bit of weirdness going on with the colors. The ear fluff feels like it should be the maroon color from the body, and if you have to keep the knee markings, it feels like those should be either black or yellow. The colors aren't bad as is, it just feels like there's a little too much going on with them.
As a whole, a pretty solid witch fox, just with a few little things that could've been refined more.
For some reason people really don't like Emboar (granted, that might just be because everyone's burnt out on fire/fighting types), but I always thought it was pretty decent? There are some things that could be improved, which I'll get to in a second, but the almost pottery-like markings and distinctive face always made it stick out in my mind.
To go into more detail, the swirled markings with the striking red/black combo is pretty unique among fire types. It helps give the design some great contrast and really enforces the Zhang Fei/Zhu Bajie concept. The body shape also feels good for a boar, and I love those giant eyebrows.
In terms of things I don't care for, the fire beard... like, I get what they were going for, but it's really not working, and it breaks up the head something fierce. I would've dropped it, maybe just gone for a furry black goatee or something instead. If you want fire somewhere on the body, maybe have flames coming off the elbows where the fur is or something.
Secondly, the tail isn't really needed. I guess it doesn't hurt anything, but it feels a bit tacked-on and the design's complicated enough as-is.
And finally, the upper body feels a bit dissociative from the rest due to the orange color. I would've liked to see it either be red to match the lower body, or make the red orange instead. Maybe drop the yellow outlines as well, then make the red rings on the arms gold to balance it.
(Side note, I wouldn't mind some actual giant tusks on this to match real boars, but it's not like the teeth it has are bad either. I just think it would look cool.)
So as a whole, the fire beard is a bit awkward and isn't doing the rest of the body any favors. The rest of it, however, has a memorable appearance bogged down only by some extraneous details.
