okay
so i saw a post about Lemuria Hub and the Deepsea Metro having ties to each other, and i have a conspiracy theory that's been rotting in my brain ever since i saw the Deepsea Metro map in Lemuria Hub
here's all your proof of that:
plus, the eye posters from Kamabo Co. being present in Lemuria Hub as well. it's pretty obvious from these that Lemuria and Kamabo are tied together.
we all know and remember Tartar's goal: bring back humanity. but the name "Lemuria" holds a lot more weight than most casual splatoon players might realize.
because i am a nerd, i looked it up.
From the Wikipedia page:
Lemuria, or Limuria, was a continent proposed in 1864 by zoologist Philip Sclater, theorized to have sunk beneath the Indian Ocean, later appropriated by occultists in supposed accounts of human origins. (...)
The hypothesis was proposed as an explanation for the presence of lemur fossils on Madagascar and the Indian subcontinent but not in continental Africa or the Middle East. Biologist Ernst Haeckel's suggestion in 1870 that Lemuria could be the ancestral home of humans caused the hypothesis to move beyond the scope of geology and zoogeography, ensuring its popularity outside of the framework of the scientific community. (...)
The theory was discredited with the discovery of plate tectonics and continental drift in the 20th century.
this (now disproven) theory ties in pretty neatly with Tartar's goal. "Bring back humanity". the implications of Lemuria Hub being tied to Kamabo Co. very likely means that Tartar's hypothetical new age of humans would have originated from Lemuria. Splatoon 3 seems to like a focus on origins, because we also get the origins of marinekind in its storymode, Alterna and the Return of the Mammalians.
but there's something else that caught my eye too.
SashiMori.
with the release of Lemuria Hub, nintendo brought back the fictional band, SashiMori! which is great and fantastic, but im pretty damn sure that they didn't bring any other bands back from Splatoon 1 or 2 completely unchanged for Splatoon 3. sure, OTH was brought back for multi-player OSTs, but in the form of Damp Socks. (and the idols are a sort of special case anyways.) Squid Squad returned only as Front Roe. Yoko from Ink Theory returned only in Yoko and the Gold Bazookas.
but nintendo didn't change SashiMori's presentation at all. the only thing that did change, and was notably very mentioned, was the fact that SashiMori's DJ Paul was older now. that's it. (nintendo also didn't change Acht. this is an important detail, but ill get to them in a minute).
Paul is pretty interesting when you look at him. there's very little information, but what we do have about him ties in pretty nicely with Kamabo Co., Tartar's association with humanity, and Lemuria Hub. for starters, Paul's DJ mixing for SashiMori is hailed as unique in universe, for incorporating human voices into SashiMori tracks.
From the Splatoon Wiki page on SashiMori:
Paul is the band's DJ, an Octoling. He is 10 years old in Splatoon 2 and 16 years old in Splatoon 3, and his favorite foods are kelp and biscuits. He remixes from sources including DJ Real Sole, DJ Octavio, and various ancient records, and is surprisingly talented for his age. Originally, SashiMori had a traditional vocalist, but they were replaced due to their self-centered personality, after which Paul was recruited through a tweet. According to the Japanese Family vs. Friends dialogue, he is friends with Marina.
(...) This music has vocals but no vocalist! Through the genius of DJ Paul, all the vocals have been sampled from a collection of ancient vinyl.
so, Paul and SashiMori are associated with humanity because they literally use human voices in their tracks.
here's the final nail in coffin to make it all tie together. it's a pretty popular theory that Paul and Acht "Dedf1sh" (who was sanitized by Commander Tartar and composed all the Octo Expansion soundtracks) are blood relatives.
Here's their designs from Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3:
Acht and Paul have the same symbols on their hats. their ink color even matches (from before Acht was sanitized). Acht has blue tentacles and red tips, Paul has red tentacles and blue tips.
even from the wiki trivia section of SashiMori's page:
In-universe, Paul and Acht are speculated to be blood relatives. They notably have the same symbol appearing on their hats, wear black clothing, with Paul wearing black T-shirts in both album artwork and Acht wearing a black dress, have three tentacles for their hair, and Paul's ink color looks similar to Acht's ink color before they were sanitized.
so what does this have to do with Lemuria Hub?
following nintendo's trend of splatoon artist releases with each season, they bring back an old artist and repurpose them into a new band or presentation. for Sizzle Season 2024, the band they brought back was SashiMori, but completely unchanged. (tangentially related, for the release of Side Order, they brought back Dedf1sh, also completely unchanged.)
the return of SashiMori completely unchanged breaks nintendo's pattern. alongside that, the stage released this time was only Lemuria Hub, and no other stage. (with the exception of Drizzle Season 2024, which released only Marlin Airport,) the trend has been to release two stages per season. this time, it's only one stage.
TLDR:
Kamabo Co.'s goal was to bring back humanity via testing and blending marinekind through the deepsea metro. Acht "Dedf1sh" was the musician of Kamabo Co., and sanitized in the name of this goal. Paul from SashiMori uses human voices in his tracks. Acht and Paul are very likely related. Lemuria Hub has Kamabo Co. posters and its deepsea metro map on display. the name "Lemuria" is associated with the origins of humanity via a (now disproven) theory. SashiMori's new music was released alongside Lemuria Hub.
SashiMori's new songs, with human voices mixed in them, playing over the train station of Lemuria Hub, which was likely an access point of some kind or tied in to Kamabo Co. somehow, is an EXTREMELY POWERFUL AND INTERESTING IMAGE. Lemuria Hub is hearing human voices for the first time via SashiMori's new songs, and it's been taken over for the one thing Tartar hated the most about marinekind: Turf War. (in a twisted way, Lemuria Hub hearing human voices is probably what Tartar wanted, but I doubt it wanted it like this. very ironic, i approve.)
so what does all of this mean? well... we can only speculate at this point. the themes of humanity in Splatoon 3 are matched in quantity only by Salmon Run lore (but, that's a whole other essay post, i won't get into it here). i personally think it means that we're going to see some kind of connection to humanity, OR salmonid development/lore in the next game. and with the FinalFest theme for Splatoon 3 being "Past, Present, or Future", im REALLY excited to see what it could mean. maybe Tartar's alive somehow, or maybe we'll get to look back at the evolution and development of marinekind, or maybe Lil Judd will finally snap since he's taken over Grizzco and the salmonids will have their apocalypse.
(as a final ending note: there's also a TON of association from all of this... with Off The Hook. OTH is associated with nearly everything here; its speculated Pearl was SashiMori's original vocalist before they got Paul, Marina is friends with Paul, OTH helped 8 break out of Kamabo Co., Pearl herself murdered Tartar with her voice; Off The Hook changed the world with Chaos vs Order, and Off The Hook is representing "the present" in the FinalFest. coincidence? maybe. who knows?)

Album 77 initial reaction final part
*spoilers*
Accidentally looked at the comments and saw something about buckles and a crying emoji, so I'm just going to make the prediction that Jules is converting to Christianity. Why? I don't know her last one, emphasized her being agnostic and I just want to make a wild prediction because it will feel nice if I'm right.
If I'm right though I REALLY hope they pull it off well and full consider the ramifications including how it will impact her falling out with Bridget. Who as of yet hasn't been brought up again. Also they better not pull a Eugene&Katrina arc again because I do NOT have the patience for that.
Mature themes! Oh, no Pamela was in the last episode they can't actually.... Mature themes. Not intensity of a few scenes. Mature themes. Let's go I guess
intro music was cool
wow, we haven't had underage drink since like what? Pokenberry Fall RFD?
this better be a good Connie episode, the last one was right on the edge.
da what???? What is happening?
And a VERY odd picnic specifically
You've been gone for like 3 months at the most Buck chill
"Picnics in the rain are fun" -Kelly and also me whenever Picnics are mentioned or it is raining
Score! Jillian & Connie!
Yo! Are they going to give that kid his comeuppance? I thought they were going to drop it.
Jillian being actually a pessimist is such an interesting concept in my head
What's with AiO and Giraffes? Actually that might just be Kathy
Connie is doing great switching mode!
Is AiO making the characters refer to it as "special water" just to get by censorship or what because it sounds so awkward and they didn't do this back in the 90s.
This whole scene is good awkward
Jillian switching is so fun to hear
Yeah, Jules this situation isn't safe. The drinking is one thing but on top of that the refusal accommodate and refrain for a single practice. Disrespect
Why is every date Kathy writes a picnic?
Jules! Not cool
Why are they in Madagascar again?
THIS! This is fantastic character writing! Everything here is so consistent with previous characterizations and just aaaak
Ok but you couldn't have talked about this before you got to the zoo or like afterwards? You just left that poor zookeeper hanging? Zookeepers have busy schedules and one made time to give you a backstage experience and you just left! Disrespect
Wait! I have to wait months for the next part 😭.
It's fine. I've waited though worse but oy! That was a good episode. Way better than Jules converting that would have been way too fast. I would be surprised if that was the end goal for this arc but she wasn't ready yet.
Also this was absolutely realistic for how their relationship would go down. Neither Buck nor Jules were mature enough to survive a long term relationship and honestly I'm glad they wrote just all of this storyline it's really well crafted.
That being said I also had a nebulous feeling of corny soap opera that I can't pin down if it's me being embarrassed for caring or an actual writing problem
Alright back to Chris
Chris wrap up was fine
Also yeah it was Kathy because who else could it be?
#Album 77 spoiler#993 Facing the music#Over all I give the album 5/6#You know who you are mediocre episode#The rest grand slams for me#I'll see ya in the next album#adventures in odyssey

It was years ago that you said this, buuuuut...can I ask you to continue on why Dreamworks is better than Disney?
Sure!
I have no memory of what I said before but it basically comes down to the matter of adaptation.
They both definitely have their values. Walt Disney and the company he created turned dark, unapproachable fairytales of caution into lighthearted narratives with hope and wonder. There is a lot of value in that and Walt Disney himself had a childlike perspective that, in tow with his team's inventive newness in creating animated sequences, really turned the tide for storytelling through cinema. No child was too old to feel like they could take part in it.
To me, the 1990s and early 2000s were a time of Disney creating and perpetuating the fairytale conventions that Dreamworks in its foundation seemed to actively try to dismantle. Again, both have their value, but at a certain point Disney became a studio that was churning out existing fairytales and Dreamworks flourished as a studio that took a different approach.
Yes, the Prince of Egypt was based on the Bible and How To Train Your Dragon was based on a series of books by Cressida Cowell but they made it their own in a refreshing way. There's also original concepts like Megamind and Kung Fu Panda that are just absolutely fantastic stories.
I can't speak for Dreamworks now since I stopped watching their movies after my dad left the company but specifically in their first 20 years, you had this company that wasn't afraid to go out of the box, make fun of the box, or even absolutely demolish the box. Sequels like Kung Fu Panda 2 and How To Train Your Dragon 2 are deep and soulful. They bring out a conflict in the existing protagonist that has to do with their past, which Disney didn't do justice until Frozen 2 (so good!)
I think Disney not only created this box for themselves but after their boom in the 90s they just became this money making machine. It was no longer about art-making. What fairytale can we do next? Here's this direct-to-dvd sequel. And now with the live-action. Do you see Dreamworks doing that? Not yet at least. They respect the the original animators and storytellers.
I'm not against adaptation. I get it. The old version is problematic? Fine okay. But if you're making it just to make it, what are you even doing? There's a huge difference between making a live-action version of a movie that's basically the same thing and creating something like Once Upon A Time (tv show, 2011, technically ABC so Disney but not really in their control as far as storytelling) where there are twists to the fairytales and something that is unexpected or has shifted. Something is added or detracted in an interesting way.
So yeah I guess when I say Dreamworks is better I'm referring to the fact that they have more quantity as far as substantive work that isn't an adaptation, and that even the work that is has something very human and special and unapologetically adult. A lot of animated movies these days treat kids like babies, and I was grown up treated by Dreamworks like an adult.
Of course there are exceptions to this and I hate when people generalize. Tarzan, for one, is something very different to the box and Madagascar 3 is pretty ridiculous. It's just in general, I really value Dreamworks setting out and honestly saying "okay so Disney is making money this way, but fuck that, we're gonna do it this way". We're gonna animate one of the darkest stories in the Bible, showing slavery and death and abuse without romanticizing it and add a tragic brotherly bond that was never meant to be. We're gonna have a protagonist in a fairytale that's a belching ogre who doesn't know he's in a fairytale and show a version of love that is the least superficial it's ever been in a fairytale (I think Shrek is also based on something now that I think of it but still). We're gonna make a cushy, cuddly panda this kung fu hero with a heart of gold who doesn't really question that a goose is his dad because found family. We're gonna create a protagonist with a lot of flaws according to his Viking island, but compassion when it counts, when he faces a dragon tied up and fearing for his life and, seeing himself, chooses mercy. We're gonna create a movie that makes fun of the archetypes of heroes and villains but turns out to accidentally be one of the best movies of all time (I'm not biased towards Megamind). You get the idea. I say Dreamworks is better because I can respect them. I can't say the same for Disney anymore. If Dreamworks starts doing live-action, this will change.
I hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for asking and sorry about the chaos!
Disney movies that are must-sees:
Cinderella (1950), Sleeping Beauty (1959), Mulan (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Princess and the Frog (2009), Tangled (2010), Frozen (2013), Frozen 2 (2019)
Dreamworks movies that are must-sees:
The Prince of Egypt (1998), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Shrek (2001), Kung Fu Panda (2008), How to Train Your Dragon (2010), Shrek Forever After (2010), Megamind (2010), Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), Puss In Boots (2011), How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014), Puss In Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
I don't know what the heck was happening on Flower Street in 2010 and 2011 but something about that year was REALLY GOOD. Yes let's make five movies in a row that a random character effects animator's daughter will absolutely love.

Madagasqueer, Or My Weird History With a DreamWorks Franchise (Part 1)
LOOOOONG POST... Incoming... Brace yourselves...
CW, just in case: Queerphobia, sexuality, mental illness
For whatever reason, I'm going to talk about MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA, DreamWorks' 2008 sequel to their 2005 CG animated comedy starring a bunch of zoo animals and many wild faces they meet on their adventures.
MADAGASCAR and I go way back. I saw the first movie when it came out, on Memorial Day weekend of 2005. I dug it! I wasn't as in love with it as I thought I was going to be. I was a young animation enthusiast, I was 12 going on 13 at the time, and I was really excited for MADAGASCAR. I was into what DreamWorks was doing at the time, was interested in where CG animated movies were going before a truckton of them all just debuted at once circa 2006-07, and I was also really excited to see a CG picture about animals. I've always had a fascination with wildlife, I write stories and have written stories about anthropomorphic animals... so I welcomed a new animal animated adventure. Surprisingly, at the time, not too many mainstream CG pictures were about land mammals. Heck, we got a movie about prehistoric land mammals before we got this. Everything else was toys, insects, dinosaurs, monsters, humans, fish, fantasy creatures. I mean, you had Donkey from SHREK and a few other characters here and there, but that was about it.
In fall 2004, DreamWorks released a CG animated sitcom called FATHER OF THE PRIDE. This show was quite something, to say the least. It's a show that I still can't wrap my head around, like this thing actually existed and attempted to be a CGI adult sitcom that aired on NBC. Network television. There was a lot of promo for it, for sure. I watched it and liked it back then, for I was 12 and my tastes were not really refined back then. And also Donkey himself made a cameo in one of the episodes, even went as far as plugging SHREK THE THIRD in one scene: "Tell the kids SHREK 3 is coming out in 2006!" (Of course, in reality, SHREK THE THIRD was pushed back to 2007.) The production of the show unfortunately coincided with an incident concerning real-life subject matter it was based: Siegfried & Roy. The show was about a lion that was part of their long-running Las Vegas circus act, and his family life behind the scenes. During production of the show, Roy was attacked by one of the tigers, nearly derailing the entire series... But it was seen through to completion, for the most part, and ran only one season with a few episodes either unfinished or unaired... It was... A thing... To say the least.
Weeks later, SHARK TALE had opened. The film had a teaser trailer for MADAGASCAR attached to it. When it started up, I was like "Wait a minute... What is this? Some FATHER OF THE PRIDE thing?" There was a lion, and there were other wild animals there. It looked interesting to me, and I had seen that trailer in theaters a couple more times, notably before THE INCREDIBLES. I sought it out online, and because this was before YouTube and because my family didn't have high-speed internet, it'd take like an eternity to load a 2 1/2-minute video... And naturally, once it loaded, I'd watch the trailer or whatever it was I was interested in at the time... Over and over, on that choppy little media player embedded into the site. So, I was really looking forward to MADAGASCAR. I liked what DreamWorks was doing at the time, and I was of course in love with the Pixar movies at the time as well. THE INCREDIBLES, circa November-December 2004 and into early 2005, was like my #1 interest and just one of my all-time favorite films.
Then we get to MADAGASCAR, which came out in May 2005, finally, and... I remember I *liked* it, but I didn't love it. I liked it better than SHARK TALE, but not as much as the SHREKs, nor the Pixars. I still liked it, though, and I just felt... I was not expecting the movie's second half to go the way it went. It also didn't help that my stomach hurt all night. When I saw it again on DVD, I watched it non-stop. I could probably quote most of the movie. I think the first MADAGASCAR is a solid movie, not exceptional by any means, but for a 2005 CGI animated movie, this introduced a more cartoony look and feel. Funky character designs, asymmetry, wild takes and movements. I remember back then criticizing the asymmetry of the New York buildings in particular, thinking it was all by mistake, but NO. That was the point, it was supposed to be this 2D cartoon but in 3D. I feel like MADAGASCAR, along with a few other movies of this era, kind of laid the seeds that would eventually step us towards... CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA... Coinciding with the techniques explored in shorts like PAPERMAN, FEAST, and ONE SMALL STEP. The experiments that would eventually step us through THE BOOK OF LIFE, THE PEANUTS MOVIE, CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS... And, the big one... SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE...
So yes, definitely, MADAGASCAR's cartooniness opened up new doors for what could be done in a mainstream CG picture. Visually neat to this day, groundbreaking in that regard, plus with all the amount of fuzzy animals and crowds of characters... Technically still impressive! I still think the movie is at odds with itself. There's an interesting thing where some people like the first MADAGASCAR the best and not so much the sequels because they like how the first one is about how Alex the lion realistically devolves into being a carnivore and a threat to his herbivore friends... Whereas in the sequels, that's just not a thing. Just like the humans in ICE AGE. I like the sequels more, personally, because I feel like this very dramatic "Alex is going to eat his friends" storyline is kind of at odd with the Looney Tunes/Tex Avery anything-goes cartoon energy of the movie. Plus this conflict is all resolved easily, they give him some sushi and that's it. That's the end. I still think it's a very entertaining movie, I really like the characters and the vibe of the whole thing. Good characters and a neat vibe is what makes a movie for me, even if the storytelling makes choices that kinda baffle me.
I can kinda see why it got mixed to negative reviews back in 2005. It clearly isn't trying to be SHREK or FINDING NEMO or THE INCREDIBLES. I think it's more in the league of ICE AGE, a sort of "cartoon animals on an adventure and they're all arguing and bickering with one another", there's pop culture jokes and such. Come to think of it, how come ICE AGE was given a relatively warm reception but this wasn't? Maybe because by 2005, it felt derivative? Maybe? I dunno!
That being said... Years passed...
Life changed in many ways. I was aware that a sequel was in the works, I believe I saw the announcement back in late 2005 saying that it was coming in 2008. I remember when it carried the title MADAGASCAR 2: THE CRATE ESCAPE. Most of MADAGASCAR 2's marketing missed me, because... When MADAGASCAR 2 was coming out, I was going through a tough period in my life...
I was mostly miserable at the time.
I was going through a prolonged depression period that was spurred by a lot of things that went wrong in my life when I was 13-15. Growing pains, all around too. The trials of being a weird autistic neurodivergent teen in a school system that wasn't for me, and many other things. What I went through affected me negatively, and there was also a falling out that hurt me bad, and then I also made the dire mistake of going on internet message boards as I was. In that state of mind. Imitating a lot of what was going on in my circles, my background, etc. etc. etc.
Short version... I probably shouldn't have been where I was on the internet at the time. Mainly IMDb message boards. I was eaten alive, and a lot of it was also my own fault. I acted like an asshole in retaliation. It was not pretty. There were things I said and did, if I went back in time to 2006, I would almost slap my younger self. All of this change and trauma and hurt turned me off to so many of the things that I was so enthused about prior. I found new things to latch onto at the time, many of which did become new special interests, so that is a plus.
I would say my biggest special in early-to-mid 2008 was '60s and '70s music, The Beatles and much of my parents' music tastes my gateway to that. I was SUNK in all of that stuff. I was exploring so much of the rock music world, and collecting records. Wasn't really deep-diving into movies at the time, I wasn't really following animated movie news, barely watched my Disneys like I always did annually... Even in a year like 2007 where everything was falling apart, I still was in the know about movies like SHREK THE THIRD, SURF'S UP, RATATOUILLE, and THE SIMPSONS MOVIE. Even BEE MOVIE to an extent. But in 2008? The likes of HORTON HEARS A WHO! and KUNG FU PANDA just passed me by. KUNG FU PANDA is now a favorite of mine and a movie that means so much to me, but back in mid-2008... I just knew it existed, had no real interest. I was also going through that weird phase where I found Pixar and Disney to be the real deal, and DreamWorks to be that "SHREK fart stuff". The only animated movie that didn't pass me by back then was WALL-E, which I made a special exception for.
In a time where I was unwilling to even go out in public, unless I was going to school (ya know, because I *had* to), I still made an exception for WALL-E... I remember seeing that movie gave me a bright spot of hope in such a dark time. Like, I felt I'd never get a significant other, but I just remember feeling hopeful when it ended. Just about things in general, not about having an S-O particularly. (I'm more of a "I'd rather have some really good friends than be married" person, anyways.) I just also really loved the movie itself, and still do. Blew me away, I remember stumbling out of that auditorium. An animated sci-fi epic of that caliber, it was just so cool seeing that come out of Pixar at the time, an American animation studio.
MADAGASCAR 2 was around the corner, and the trailer might've been before WALL-E... A couple months after WALL-E's release, I remember snapping out of this awful, dour mood that was in. This utter self-hatred and depression, and not wanting to be anywhere in public, thinking I had no friends. So, by November 2008, when MADAGASCAR 2 opened... I was a whole new person! And I was *game* to see that movie. HAD to see it, no other way.
I rounded up a friend of mine. He didn't even see the first one, but he went with me. This friend of mine, I hung out with a lot. Back in those days, we were such goofuses together, I feel a lot of our time together just gave me a needed place to be my weird-ass self when I couldn't in other areas of middle/high school. No surprise, during that period where I was miserable... My sophomore year of high school, he wasn't in ANY of my classes or lunch periods. Completely separated... Kinda shows how weak I was back then, that I fell apart because I didn't have that friend of mine with me. And I wasn't driving yet, neither was he, and we didn't see each other often - we were bogged down in schoolwork and other life stuff anyways.
So we went and saw MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA. Because I broken out of that awful, dismal mood, I was like indulging on everything I had left behind prior to it. I really got back into mainstream animated movies. Like, ooo, what's the next DreamWorks movie? What's this OOBERMIND thing? HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON? What's all this?? Possibly BOO U, even? I had a good time. I'll distinctly remember my friend leaning towards me and saying nonchalantly, "Kyle, this is one funny-ass movie." He'd never seen the first one, he was just like "yeah I'll see it", and we had a great time! Such a fun movie. One of the oldest ticket stubs I saved, too.
So... MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA... I'm not the first person to point this out, but I definitely somewhat sensed it back then... It's queer... Queer AF...
This post is getting to be very long, sooo... Part two!
We'll continue in the next post, to save digital ink space!

Agree with this for the most part, but I am in no way violent. *chews on a telephone wire with my sharp teeth*, now down to business.
My issue with UKJ and Zora is that it was used as a way to redeem him. I don't care who he dates or fucks, I've drawn his fat lemur ass getting railed before. But the way the show uses Zora to make him "good" is lazy, uncreative, and a problematic trope. Perpetuating the idea that "you only need love, then you will be a good person" is just the whole "I can fix him" narrative in a different point of view. Being in love with someone doesn't automatically fix you, or make you a better person. Those things take time, effort, and a WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE AND IMPROVE. The way it's presented in the show is so jarring and sudden. Like what? One day he gives up on his hopes and dreams of murdering his nephew because he went ogga bogga at tall woman? No. That's lazy on the writers part. I know they just wanted him at Clover's wedding, but I feel like it would have been better if they cut the whole forced romance shit with Zora and made him attend with a character he actually has history with....CRIMSON!!!!!! He could have been her (platonic) plus one, and be giving KJ dirty looks the whole time. KJ is completely oblivious and hilarious hijinks ensues. But no. Madagascar fan blog on tumblr dot com operation-penguin can't have nice things *pouts so hard my dick explodes*.
Also "craving masculinity" doesn't mean he's queer. If anything Zora is presented as the most feminine out of all the mountain lemurs (and also aside from clover, crimson and a few others, most of the lady lemurs look very similar to the male ones meaning that this probably isn't much of a deviation from the norm). Zora's most "masculine" features are her hight, deep voice, and "gross"/violent behavior. Liking any of these things in a woman doesn't make you queer. This is of course looking at her with the most generous view. Tbh I don't like Zora at all. She's nothing but a romantic plot point for two of the male characters, and she's obviously meant to embody a mean spirited joke at "masculine" women. At times characters like her feel very transphobic, like "HAHAHAH the WOMAN is sooooo FUNNY.... WHY?? she behaves like a MAN and looks like a MAN!!! HAHAHAHH SO FUNNY SO FUNNY HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!" She feels particularly odd in specifically AHKJ because of how outwardly queer KJ himself is.
Am I saying that a female character can't be masculine or exhibit masculine traits? No. If that's how anyone is going to try and spin this you're either taking my words in bad faith, or didn't read any of this. Female characters (and male, enby, or any other gender of the vast spectrum) can and should be written in a way that isn't restricted to a small box of whatever the fuck "feminine" or "masculine" is, it's a fucking goodie bag put whatever the hell you want in them. But when you are taking a character and subverting expectations for their gender as a way to get cheep laughs it's pathetic. Such low hanging fruit and it's rotten. Unfunny, did not laugh, do better.
Also you need a straight man to enhance the wild cards. I won't tolerate Maurice hate.
But.....
you 🤝 me
Jover bad
So like ur cool <3 no hate brother
ok ive never done this befroe and dont even know if these are hot takes but anyways ALSO IM SORRY I SAY LIKE ALOT
i feel like alot of the girl ahkj villains all have something to do w being married if u get me and idk i just dont like it 😭
uncle king julien is literally so funny and nobody talks about it also kjs parents were obviously horribke but i love them like theyre so good in the night creature not realising uncle king julien would not be good as king
KING JULIEN AND CLOVER SHOULD NOT BE SHIPPEDD RAHH❌❌❌
uncle king juliens feet are gorg morts just a hater😒😒
MAURICE LORE IS SO IGNORED LIKE THE FUNNY MADAGASCAR GUY WAS ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO BE THROWN INTO A VOLCANO AS A BABY FOR LIVING BELLS AND THESE LIVING BELLS TURN OUT TO BE SNAILS HIDING FROM FRNECH PEOPEL AND IVE SEEN LIKE 2 POEPLE TALK ABOUT IT
ok thats it im so bad at unpopular opinions
also idk how to make this anonymous so
Yea ur right about the girls, tbh the way women in the whole franchise are treated just like romance objects for the male characters :/// even clover, although I do think she's treated the best. Still, her arc is concluded with her marrying sage....
UKJ IS MY FAVORITE I WANT HIM BEATEN AND BRUISED, BLEEDING OUT ONTO PAVEMENT!!!!! Him and Zora SHOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN TOGETHER!!!!!!!! THAT WASN'T A REDEMPTION ARC. He's still evil, he still wants his nephew DEAD. Also he's one of the only characters in the show to use the word "sexy". (This is shameless self promo for my fic<3)
I'm pretty neutral on shipping tbh, I don't really care?? But I definitely don't ship them, they are friends <3
Mort has standards, my husband has never done anything wrong shut up.
MAURICE LORE IS WILD!!!! Idk why he's not more popular??? Only love for Maurice on this blog :]
Also I may have anon asks turned off??? Oops O_o sorry if you get the FBI sent to your house over this. Btw don't apologize about writing a lot, have you seen my posts talking about mort HAHAHAHAH-

Timeline of Wild Kratts
Almost half a year ago, I posted a reddit in which I delved into the full timeline of Wild Kratts. Due to PBS Kids airing episodes out of order, episodes being ordered by production code on Wikipedia and the wiki, as well as chronological inconsistencies that have plagued the show, I have gone on a quest to track down the episode's true orders based on not just production code & episode airing, but on chronological date so I can crack the true timeline of Wild Kratts: Now I will update this when Season 7 comes out. My plan is to update this until the series finale so that we know the entire timeline of the series from start to finish, and yes, the movie will be involved in the timeline (until anything says otherwise, the upcoming movie is canon): Also warning, this took me almost 2 months to make so I might've gotten something wrong. There's no way in hell that I didn't.
I'm posting the link here because I'm scared that Tumblr won't let me physically upload this post by copy/paste so I'll give you the run-down.
Season 1:
The timeline begins with Polar Bears Don't Dance, evident in how the Creature Power Suits themselves have to be physically modified for them to activate, also fitting in how it was the first WK thing to ever exist. Mystery of the Squirmy Wormy comes after that as we see the Walrus Suit under repairs, which I believe is after it malfunctioned in the pilot. After that, we get Mom of a Croc, which takes place after an unknown adventure where the Kratts obtain the Gharial Disc for their Creature Power Suits. MoaC can't take place after Kerhonk as Chris already has a Crocodile Suit there. Season 1 takes place before S2, meaning the power disc holders likely do not exist yet.
Quillber's Birthday Present marks the end of S1, not Raptor Roundup, as it aired after that episode.
Season 2:
The Coral Reef arc begins with Blowfish Blowout and likely ends at Tortuga Tune Up.
The Central America arc starts with Bugs or Monkeys and ends with To Touch a Hummingbird.
The Sonoran Desert arc starts with Rattlesnake Crystal and ends with Desert Elves.
Season 3:
The Swamp Things arc starts with Osprey, and ends with Opossum in My Pocket.
The prairie arc starts with Where the Bison Roam, and ends with Mystery on the Prarie.
Back in Creature Time, whilst made to be the S3 finale, was not the last episode of the season to air. The 2nd half of the Madagascar arc contained the last several episodes of the season. The actual S3 finale was "Foosa Palooza" or "Mini Madagascar." However, in Golden Bamboo Lemur, it's said that it's their final adventure, meaning that episode has to be the S3 finale for reasons we've established.
Season 4:
The China arc begins with Panda Power Up, is broken by Snowy Owl Invasion, continues with Red Panda Rescue, and ends with Pangolin Rescue.
Baby Tooth & Kid Musky & Musk Ox Mania are a duology:
A Creature Christmas comes in very late around the timeline due to multiple creature powers and baby animals introduced in other episodes. However, it can't come after Liturgusa Krattorum because A Creature Christmas treats the villains' team-up like a special occurrence and this episode treats it like a casualty.
Season 5:
The India arc begins with Temple of the Tigers and ends with Elephant Brains.
The Europe arc involves Cheeks the Hamster & Fire Salamander.
Alaska: Hero's Journey has to take place after The 4th Bald Eagle due to the existence of the Bald Eagle Power Suit.
Season 6:
In Search of the Easter Bunny would have to be at the start of Season 6 because that's when the Jackrabbit Power Suit is invented and used later on.
The Amazon arc begins with Mystery of the Mini Monkey Models and ends with Parrot Power.
The Wild Kratts timeline, as we know it, begins at Polar Bears Don't Dance, and pauses at Cats & Dogs.
To quote Danny Rebus from The Adventures of The Electric Company on Prankster Planet -

So, I figured I could maybe do one of these intro posts as well ...
About me :)
That's me:
My name is Alexandra, generally I don't particularly mind which pronouns you use for me, though most people use she/her I guess.
I'm an adult, even though I sometimes still can't quite believe that yet (experiencing a pandemic during your adolescence surely fucks with your perception of time). I have my age in my header since I'd probably forget to update it here.
I speak German and English fluently, I also know a little Spanish. I have an interest in learning new languages, so far I've started to learn tiny bits of Russian, Japanese, Scottish Gaelic and Welsh!
~~~
My blog:
I originally made this blog mainly to post my art, however over time it turned a bit more into a selfship blog. Nowadays I post/reblog mostly selfship art and imagines/writing, but also "regular" stuff from fandoms that I like, and occasionally just some random memes or cute/funny things.
Some fandoms I'm in (more or less, I'm usually not super active in the sense that I engage a lot with other people - I'm sometimes kinda shy to approach/interact with new people - , but I enjoy these franchises): Star Wars, Hogan's Heroes, Phineas and Ferb, Warrior Cats, Pirates of the Caribbean, various cartoons and animated series (Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Trollhunters, The Dragon Prince, The Penguins of Madagascar, ...) and probably some more that I'm currently forgetting about xD Feel free to ask about them!
I selfship mainly for fun and for comfort, to me it's a kind of selfcare/selflove. I generally feel comfortable with sharing f/os, especially the ones that I'm not very focused at right now. However, I might not interact much with someone who has headcanons about them that heavily contradict with mine or just makes me somehow uncomfortable (you can still follow me though, I probably just won't follow back or initiate interactions). Otherwise feel free to interact so we can gush about them together^^
You are allowed to reblog everything unless stated otherwise!
~~~
Tags I use to keep my blog organised (or at least attempt to):
#selniasart - my own art
#selniaswriting - my own writing, will probably be mostly x reader stories, headcanons or f/o imagines
#selniaspost (previously #selniasoriginal) and #selnia talks - any other form of original post that doesn't fit into the categories above (memes, character screenshots, just me rambling about something etc.), basically anything that's not a reblog
#others' creations - art or writing made by other people
#asks for selnia - as the name says, any asks that I get
In theory I also have tags for my main f/os (mentioned in the f/o section), however I'm really not sure yet if I'm going to use them consistently or just stick to the character's names.
Also just fyi I started implementing my tagging system in February 2023, so most things before that (except my art) are unfortunately not tagged systematically!
~~~
Self shipping:
I have made a carrd for any information related to my self ships! This includes an overview of my fictional others, a short description of my main self-inserts, as well as an introduction to their relationships. It's a continuous work in progress, but I feel like it gives a decent overview since I didn't want this post to become to cluttered.
My self-insert is usually called Selina (or variations thereof, like Selena), I have different versions of her for different universes, but the basis is usually the same. You can also use her name(s) to refer to me, I don't mind at all!
"Disclaimer": My taste in fictional characters doesn't reflect my taste in real-life people (especially in regards to their age, since most of them are a lot older than me), also many of them are villains/have done questionable things and I wouldn't support their actions in real life. Since they're fictional they're allowed to be a little horrible though <3
Main f/os:
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (2nd Dimension) [Phineas and Ferb] | Tag: f/o: 🚂
Hector Barbossa [Pirates of the Caribbean] | Tag: f/o: 🏴☠️
Davy Jones [Pirates of the Caribbean] | Tag: f/o: 🐙
The Horned King [The Black Cauldron] | Tag: f/o: 💀
Other f/os I'm currently focused on:
Firmus Piett [Star Wars]
Maximilian Veers [Star Wars]
~~~
DNI:
Basic things that you find in pretty much everyone's DNI criteria like racists, neonazis, religious extremists, LGBTQ-phobes, pedophiles, zoophiles etc., I think you know the drill. Basically just don't be an asshole or be unnecessarily hateful/harmful towards people who just want to exist in peace. Also I'm not too familiar with the whole "pro-shipping" debate or what the exact definition of it is, I just don't want to have anything to do with adults who ship with literal children characters, or people who glorify/romanticise topics like pedophilia, incest, or abuse.
(I lowkey hate the term "pro-ship" because 1. from my experience people are so subjective with what the actual definition is and I feel like the meaning keeps getting twisted around to everyone's personal preferences, and 2. at this point it just feels like such a stupid typical "chronically online" thing to me. I know the term is commonly used so I mention it here, still I'd prefer if pedos etc. were just called what they are💀 I don't think they deserve a more downplaying or harmless term)
Also my blog is not a place for harassment towards me or anyone else!
Other than that I don't really have any specific criteria, but if you're hateful against selfshipping or shame people for having "cringe" interests, this might not be a place for you either.
All in all, as long as you're a decent person you're welcome to stay, I'm really just here to have fun and talk about my favourite characters :)
~~~
Additional info:
Most of the stuff I post/reblog is suitable for general audiences, and I generally don't mind people of any age following me (unless maybe you're under the age of 13, but then you shouldn't be on Tumblr anyway).
However I won't completely exclude posting/reblogging adult content, but I will try my best to tag it appropriately with tags like "nsfw", "nsft", "explicit", "spicy", "suggestive" and the like. If you don't want to see these things, I suggest blacklisting these tags, especially if you're a minor. For my own posts, I will also always put a "read more" link and a warning before the actual content, so it isn't right in your face and you can decide on your own if you want to look at it or not. [By now I do have a dedicated side blog for adult self ship content as well. I'm a little secretive about it, but I tend to share the @ every once in a while.]
I also have a roleplay side blog for my Pirates of the Caribbean OC/self-insert: @selenafinley-rp Feel free to follow there too! :)
~~~
My other social media:
Instagram (most active) | DeviantArt | Twitter | Artfol
I may edit this post in the future in case I feel like there needs something to be changed.

My #1 post of 2022
Stargazing (Bowuigi)
Based on the notes I’m getting on my one post I assume y’all are okay with the Bowuigi posting, and if not then block the tag bestie
Also on AO3!
It was late at night, and Luigi was woken up by repeated prodding at his arm. He tried to ignore it at first, hoping whichever hyperactive kid up way past their bedtime would give up and go bother their dad. However, the prodding turned to light shoving, to the point where Luigi worried he would be rolled off of the bed. That definitely wasn’t a kid.
“Alright, alright, I’m awake,” he groaned, and his excited fiancé stopped rolling him around like a piece of dough. “What is it?” He asked, trying to hide his annoyance.
“I wanna show you something,” Bowser exclaims, sparkles in his eyes.
Usually when someone woke him up this late, Luigi would simply refuse to get up unless it was an emergency. But looking into his fiancé’s wide, starstruck eyes, he found he didn’t have the heart to say no this time.
“Alright,” he sighed, smiling. “What do you want to show me?”
“Close your eyes,” Bowser requested, and Luigi obliged. The Koopa took his hand and started leading him through the castle, making sure not to walk too fast so the smaller, sleepy man could keep up.
Soon, his excitement got the best of him. “Permission to lift?” he asked, waiting for his approval.
“Sure,” Luigi yawned. It would be ideal for him, actually; he felt like his legs could only move at a snail’s pace. Bowser lifted him into his arms and they continued, much quicker this time. Luigi often didn’t like admitting it, but he liked it when his fiancé carried him like this; curled up in his arms, pressed against his warm and firm chest… It made him feel safe. And more than that, it made him feel wanted. He felt like he was about to fall sleep again in his surprisingly comfortable embrace.
Eventually, Bowser stopped. “I’m puttin’ ya down now, darlin’,” he informed Luigi. The man yawned as he nodded, and he gently lowered him back onto the ground. Luigi could feel cold air on his skin, and he shivered. The Koopa rubbed his back sympathetically.
“Alright, you can open your eyes now,” Bowser stated, and Luigi gingerly did so.
He was greeted by the most beautiful night sky he had ever seen. The stars scattered across the sky like drips of paint on a canvas, and the red sky oddly seemed even prettier than the dark indigo he was used to. What’s more, the stars shined brighter than he had ever seen in the Mushroom Kingdom; the Koopa Kingdom’s citizens rarely kept their lights on after midnight, which meant there wasn’t any competition for the lights of the night sky.
Bowser watched his fiancé with a soft smile on his face. He’d been planning this for a while; he had heard from Mario and Peach that Luigi loved stars, so he’d been wanting to show Luigi what the Koopa Kingdom’s night sky was like ever since. And he got the reaction he was hoping for: Luigi’s eyes were as full of stars as the sky, his mouth open slightly as he took in the sight.
“I take it ya like it?” he broke the silence.
“I- It’s incredible,” his fiancé responded. “It’s the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“Heh. I’ve seen prettier,” Bowser replied.
“What could possibly be more beautiful than this?” Luigi scoffed.
“You,” the Koopa answered, pecking Luigi on the head.
“I- Uh, um, I-” the man tried to come up with a comeback, but failed miserably; the combination of how tired he was, the cold, his surprise and how flustered he was combined to make it incredibly difficult to think of a response.
Bowser chuckled. “You make it too easy, y’know?”
“Sh-shut up,” Luigi flushed. “Not my fault you caught me off guard.”
His fiancé smiled. “Ready to head back inside?”
“Yeah, we probably should, before one of the kids comes looking for us and we’re missing,” he replied.
“Alright, let’s go,” Bowser grinned. “Permission to lift?”
“Permission granted,” Luigi smiled. The Koopa lifted him into his arms once again, and took him back to their bedroom.
By the time he reached their room, the smaller man had already conked out once again, quietly snoring into his chest. He smiled lovingly at him, and kissed him on the forehead before lowering him into bed.
“Love ya, darling,” Bowser whispered.
“Love you too…” Luigi slurred in his sleep, causing his fiancé’s smile to widen.

new interests, fandom, and just well everything that been happening lol
ello y'all
it's definitely been forever since i've last posted here, or well, existed on tumblr for a good while now. i haven't really drawn any leem or any Madagascar related stuff in MONTHS, and just my general smelly self moving onto new things to go all HAAAAAAGH over n' whatnot lol
for about a recent good month now, I've been into marine life, and of course, i absolutely ended up fixating over it, evidently realizing how much i was into aquatic/marine animals before i officially was into them lol
it felt GREAT honestly because i was mainly into birds for like- what? 3+ years? and i didn't really have much good memories being a bird and i really wasn't diversifying my interests much idk- i was into leems for like almost a whole year but of course that died down
maybe it'll come back up? im not really sure honestly
i have this weird mentality that i HAVE to fixate on a species, that if that fixation slows down, it apparently means i ain't into them anymore and i really just feel like I've been forcing myself to go nutso on things and i just tend to feel really bad sometimes cause of how sudden my interests are and that i just think too much about them
i also always think of trying to do some grand project/idea all the time like, holy heck why? why do i gotta devote myself so hard into liking something? i don't understand myself and things and just AUGHh
but i have gotten a genuine interest in marine life, and that interest exploded quite rapidly actually lol
just in general;
i gotta stop devoting myself so hard onto an interest like its some obligatory thing, and that i really need to calm down on my ambitions cause holy christ i listen to one SPECIFIC song and i end up thinking of a whole movie, comic, show, rise to attention, EVERYTHING and AUGUHHH sometimes my overly imaginative brain can be such a pain sometimes BOOOOOOOOOOO
anyways uh
yeah im a leopard seal now and I'm currently in the seal team (NETFLIX MOVIE NOT THE SHOW AAAAAA) fandom, and if any of y'all are into seal team, do lemme know cause i wanna follow fellow seal team fans (which is, albeit, quite rare cause I'm not really sure IF there are any fans here on tumblr? I've seen some videos on youtube but even then that was seldom and the views were kind of low
thats kind of all i suppose, thank you to the one random viewer to looked at this and went "okay" and ate a loaf of bread after xd
also summer school just started for me today but even though it did i will definitely try my hardest to post more on tumblr, though i must know should i make a separate account for my seal team/general marine-related stuff or no since i don't wanna overhaul everything ae

As one of 2020 Madagascar Party project organizers, I've decided to do something too. Aside from artwork I've been preparing, I also have most memorable quotes from Madagascar franchise. You may use it as an inspiration as well.
15th anniversary is a good moment to talk to the others and reminisce about our beloved fandom. I'll do it too. Feel free to reblog my posts after November 28th or you may start your own discussion, tagging: #2020MadagascarParty .
Here are the quotes me and my fandom friends thought of:
Day 1: Penguins
"What if we didn't have young Private's heart, Kowalski's brain, or Rico's appetite for reckless destruction?" - Skipper
Day 2: Friendship

Madagascar - Day 12 - Anjajavy to Mantadia/Andasibe
I left Anjajavy this morning with a bit of remorse. I feel like I could have done more. I didn't snorkel. I didn't explore the various coves. But it was also time to move on. The rainforest awaits...
The flight from Anjajavy to Tana was....not good. Y'all know I'm not a nervous flyer. Turbulence does not bother me. I've been through 3 or 4 aborted landings. No biggie. Planes are my happy place. But man, do things change when alarms start going off in the cockpit. I was blessed during my other small plane flights. Smooth. No issues. This one was bumpy from the start. I tried to distract myself by reading, but when the older Frenchman sitting next to me starts cursing in French under his breath it's hard to think of anything else but being 10,000 feet in the air.
Obviously things went just fine. But I've never been so happy to see an air control tower in the distance. My mantra: five minutes til Tana, five minutes til Tana....
Back on the ground in Tana I am met by Fan and Dadi. We put my shit in the car and start the 4 hour drive to Vakona Lodge.
I really enjoyed the...
Stop. The lodge just lost power. Remind me to never leave without my torch....
I really enjoyed the ride out here. I got to see a different part of the country that I had just flown over previously. Passing through small towns, watching boys 'patch' the numerous potholes in the road and put their hands out for a few ariary, all the women working the ride paddies, and countless villages that don't have electricity, yet giant electric towers soar overhead.
We end up stopping for a quick bite to eat at Moramanga. The largest city between Andasibe and Tana. Contrary to the Bradt guide, Moramanga does not mean "cheap mangoes". Mora does indeed mean "cheap" but manga, while it can mean mango, in this instance (and in all other instances I've seen) it means "blue." And, once upon a time, Madagascar had a caste system. And "blue people" were the lowest in the system. They were the slaves. Moramanga wasn't a place to buy cheap mangoes, it was a place to buy cheap slaves. And it makes sense given its location - smack dab in the middle of a major thoroughfare to the capital and one of the largest ports in the country.
Anyway. We stop for a bite to eat. I get fried shrimp (pro tip: fried food will almost never be an issue for your stomach. That dip in the hot oil kills all bad things). About 15 minutes after we arrive I notice a familiar face - an older couple who was at Anjajavy has stopped at the same restaurant. But, being American, they didn't have any ariary. They just assumed everywhere would take dollars. Bank of Kirs saved them and I took some dollars for some of my ariary.
About an hour later we arrive at Vakona Lodge. It's dreary right now. Cold. Rainy. I'm not sure I'm equipped for this. The staff all laugh at my Malagasy. Sad Kirs.
I'm told I need to pick my dinner now. The menu is ... Very Western. They have an entirety different menu of Malagasy food, but apparently that isn't part of my full board. Fan promises to talk to them tomorrow. I don't want spaghetti for dinner. But for tonight I choose a starter and entree. I get a side eye when I say I don't eat dessert. I don't! Sorry!
Luckily I have the cabin closest to the lodge. No long walk in the dark, wet, cold. But I get there and dear lord it's freezing. I put my things down, close the window above the heater, and head back to the lodge in search of WiFi, warmth, and wine.
I find all three. I'm allowed to reserve a table by the giant fireplace. It's one of those multi sided things that you usually see in ski lodges. I'm happy to see it here. I'm just gonna camp out and drink red wine to stay warm.
I think I'm the only American here. We have some Aussies, Frenchies, Brits, and my first encounter with Chinese tourists in Madagascar. Man, the Malagasy do NOT like the Chinese tourists. And they have a love hate relationship with China's money helping with their infrastructure. They want the new roads, but every Malagasy I talk to says, essentially, "But at what cost? Our rosewood? Our ebony? What other resources do they want?" Is this just another colonization?
So I'm sitting here in the lodge. Thankful for fireplaces. I don't think I felt this cold in Moscow.
Tomorrow I meet my guide. And we head to Mantadia. Where there are leaches. And, hopefully, diademed Sifaka and indri. And all the birds and geckos and chameleons and other beautiful creatures. I'm not done with you yet, Madagascar.

That's so cool that you could watch The Monkees dubbed! I didn't realize they did it in Portuguese! I guess that tells you how popular they were. How did they dub Davy? Did they get someone who could do an English accent in Portuguese or did you just have to guess based on the jokes?
Hahaha, good evening. :3
Yeah, isn’t it super cool and groovy?
I’ve also found a playlist at YouTube with The Monkees dubbed in Japanese! And the friendly blog where I found their discography had an Italian recording of the series’ theme song. The boys really, really were an international phenomenom! ☆☆☆
Well, since I’m an anime buff, I’ve always enjoyed spending a lot of time trying, more or less, to keep track of the voice actors, and the characters they played.
Though I’m sorry if you’re a Davy fan, because I don’t know who was his VA. :( However, neither him nor Grandfather Jones have any “regional” difference in the way they talk. We just know they’re English because of Success Story.
His voice in the dubbed version, is super boyish, and Peter’s, super comic, nearly cartoonish. The first way the viewer has to get their “chick magnet” and “dummy” “characters” is from their voices.
Micky’s VA is Olney Cazarré, comic actor and the second dubber of the old Woody Woodpecker cartoon. His voice fits the character, his comic sidekick traits, and his manic energy to perfection.
Mike’s VA in S1 is Osmar Prado, a theater actor who ended up playing a respectable amount of “villain” types in XIXth century-themed soap operas.
He has the most “manly”, “adult” voice of all main characters, which makes his role as the guys “fatherly” figure very clear. On the other hand, his Texan accent is completely lost, and the viewer of the dubbed version only finds out about Mike’s country background in S2, with Hillbilly Honeymoon.
(His VA was changed at S2, for Marcelo Gastaldi, who voiced the Mexican comic actor Chespirito, very popular here in Brazil, so it’s very, very hard to associate his voice with other characters.)
While the fighting clans had “hillbilly” accents, some non-American characters haven’t: Son of a Gypsy is called Gypsy Song in Portuguese, and neither Maria nor her sons had accents.
Dr. Mendoza and his assistant from I Was a Teenage Monster had an accent, but that probably was something to add to his “mad scientist” character.
On the other hand, the translation, mostly in S1, is priceless. Full of 1960s slang, which is hilariously outdated. Their slang makes me laugh so much, I wish I could translate it to you guys.
Many places had their names changed to “equivalents” in Portuguese - “Beechwood Drive” gets the name of “Rotuleta”, and the Purple Flower Gang from Monkees à la Carte is blamed, in the goofiest way possible though, for real crimes from the 1960s news, for instance.
A delightful example is in The Audition, where instead of going to Madagascar, poor Peter might have ended up in the islands of Fernando de Noronha, a remote and abandoned Army base back then.
Not to mention that, when the series was originally broadcasted here in Brazil, all pieces of media had to pass the previous censorship by the military regime. I would love to know the arguments used to make things like Monkees on the Wheel and The Frodis Caper go into open television! :)
Also, please have an addendum, totally not made with the intention of convincing you to watch The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: the success of the show saved their broadcaster, TV Excelsior, from bankrupt, for three years! :)

I'm gonna miss christmas..
I had such a good month :3
The first week of december, the 5'th I think, I went to a friends house. She lives on a farm with ducks and chickens and cats. (I got to hold a fat chicken mama) She had the whole house to herself that weekend so she invited a lot of people, 20+ I think, and made a big christmas dinner with pork roasts.
There was many friendly faces and a few new. We sat up playing warewolf, deerlordi, dark overlord and a bunch of other games all night. We watched httyd, shreck and madagascar christmas specials. My allergies were trying to kill me, but there was no stopping me. It was just too damn cozy so I stayed all weekend. We also watched the nightmare before christmas and a fuckload of cookies.
There were regular chocholate chip. Vanilla rings, jew cookies, and other christmas cookies. We had a lot of fun makeing them together and chased eachother around with towels while the host was talking with a friend from newsealand on skype. Another one of my bros had brought along his el-guitar and a stereo speaker thingy to plug it into. He is pretty fucking talented and gave a little concert while we were dying on food coma on the couch.
The house was so nice too. You could tell it was old. And they went all in with decorations. Honestly it’s the first time in years I really felt like it was really christmas. You know that real cozy and nice christmas spirit/mood?
She had also bought little presents for everyone (I got two wahaha) so I bought her a nice box of chocolate as a surprise. Cause she told people she didn't’t want anything in return.. but I mean.. it would feel weird not to give anything .-.
When I got home I started on vikings and am really digging it. It made the got need go away a bit xD And the way they portrayed Ivar? he a scarry bitch.. well done A+.
Around the 15'th i hosted my yearly dinner thing. I got really sad cause a lot of people cancelled 2 hours before. And it felt like a waste of money too. So I felt the sadness creeping up and thoughts of my family started to come up. But then I pulled myself together and made a few calls. We ended up filling all seats at the table (7) and I was happy.
It was a bit hard financially but I had so much fun with them. We laughed till we cried and I made everyone a kick-ass christmas dinner with ducks and everything. We sat up all night playing til 5 am. Then they slept on my sofa a few hours untill one of the boys got up in a panic and had to be in a church in cph at 10am cause he promised his parents to help with something.
After they left the 16'th I slept all day, and then at night i left for Roskilde. A friend, Helena, had invited us over for burgers and that “m.o.t.h.e.r.” game with the robot quizz game on the tv. I lost my credit card, and went into a panic cause like.. food i need. It was nowhere outside so i called the bank to close it, thinking i dropped it on the but cause i did last time.
I was planning to take the train to Havdrup around midnight, cause it takes 3 hours to get there. I had promised to join some friends i went to school with once. Cause the 17'th at 11:20 I was upposed to be there so Patrick could pick me for our dnd session with simon and them dnd people. But the next train was not leaving Roskilde untill 5am. So I played sivilisation with Rune all night, concurring the world and stuff, till the sun came up.
It was snowing outside and it was so pretty. I called patrick, saying sorry for not keeping my promise, and he was so sweet driving all the was to Roskilde to pick me up. I got a two hour nap, and felt a bit gross cause I didn't shower since friday.
So it was sunday, i felt like dying, and we ended up playing from 12 to 19. We had fun at first but then I kinda went into zombie mode.
I was a bit tired and confused, so I ended up missing the train home :c But Patrick the personal taxi service came to the rescue and drove me home. He complains a bit, but he always helps. So i bought him a christmas present as a surprise.
Hmm.. around christmas things got a bit sad. My uncle didn't invite me for christmas. He also got married this year I had no idea.. but my grandparents invited me over the 25'th. But then my mother showed up and everything was mayhem. Granddad called me and was very upset. We were supposed to do so she would join the 24'th and then work the 25'th like always. But now she did it the other way around. So he told me I would have to come sometime after christmas. They raised me and I haven’t seen them for 10 months. It got me down. But I already had plans with the lovely Erin
I spent christmas at her house with her family and it was amazing. No drama. Just good food, good people, fun, cozy vibes, pretty decorations and presents.
I got some pretty awesome stuff. You could really tell she had put thought into them so they were personal and it made me so warm and happy inside.
Today is the 25'th I’m enjoying some of my gifts from erin and some snacks her mom gave me. Tomorrow I will clean up my apartment and go to a friends place in cph for games and some good food. :3 The 27'th I’m gonna watch the new star wars movie at the the cinema (wuup wuup) with with my boyfriend and then we go for dinner afterwords.
We gonna be together till new years and then have a small party with some of his old friends. I’m so ready! I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun and I have some sweet Asti and some expensive Champagne from my great-grandmother I might bring.
It’s been a good year, and looking forward to the new one.

Madagascar - Day 8 - Anjajavy
Alas, I failed to stay awake for the Madagascar and Tunisia game. On the other hand, this was the best night of sleep since I arrived in Madagascar. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it's because I've stopped the malaria pill nonsense. I'm willing to take the almost non-existent risk of contracting malaria in exchange for solid sleep.
Woke up early to stretch on my front deck with a trio of brown lemurs who took up residence on the tree in front of my cabin. Then went to grab some fruit and coffee before meeting my guide, Lucien. We spend nearly 5 hours walking through the private reserve. There are only two diurnal lemurs in this part of Madagascar (the brown lemur and the Coquerel Sifaka) so this walk was mostly about finding birds, other random animals, and seeing the staggering landscape. We also stopped along the way at several caves, a sacred tree, and the former home of the local Witch Doctor where one of the other lodge employees, Honore, played his handmade kabosy and then let me try to play it, to the delight of no one...
We also got to stop and see the lodge's conservation efforts - they are actively reforesting the reserve and are now home to 12 giant tortoises they are trying to re-introduce to the area after over 2000 years of Madagascar being without an animal to fill their ecological niche - the primary spreader of baobab seeds. One of the tortoises, John, is apparently very fond of neck scritches and when I approached he stood up and stretched his neck out far. I was happy to oblige. I had to try not to cry tears of joy - I get so stinkin' emotional when it comes to animals. Having the privilege of touching such a magnificent creature was more than a bit overwhelming.
We also saw a rainbow milkweed locust. Go Google it. Be horrified and amazed at the same time. I had zero desire to touch him.
Lucien and I finally returned to the lodge where we were greeted with glasses of lime juice and ice cold wet towels. Sometimes bougie is nice?
I sat down in the lodge with my iPad where I have all my animal guides and logged everything we saw. Radu, one of the other guides, then came up and said I needed to meet the chef (since, apparently, I am the only faza to order the Malagasy meal every time). He has now agreed to let me in his kitchen and will teach me a Malagasy dish on Sunday.
Whilst sitting in the lodge and reading a book on moluscs, the lodge manager, Cedric, comes up and asks how I am doing. I'm wonderful, actually. He wants to double check that my itinerary is correct. We go through it. Yes. Correct. "Are you sure?"
Me: Umm.... Yeah. Is there a reason I shouldn't be?
Cedric: Well, no one has ever done this itinerary before. It is a lot of walking. Are you sure you don't want to take the car? Most of our guests take the car.
Me: Seriously? Cedric, I will be fine. Trust me.
Cedric: but it's 20 kilometers!
Me: Dude, Lucien and I walked 13 kilometers today. I could have done twice that. 20 won't be a problem. Promise.
Cedric: ....
Me: I absolve you from all liability for my very long walk.
Here's what this itinerary has done, besides scare Cedric: endeared me to all the guides at the lodge. So, when the sun was just starting to set, Illody (the lodge's vet) and Radu come grab me to go on an aye aye hunt. There are 2 aye ayes in the area. And they have the lady aye aye radial collared, so they have a general idea of where she is at. Tonight she was in her 29th nest (yes, she's built 29 nests in a year's time). We take the lodge truck as far as we can then set off on foot, quickly heading into the forest and the very sharp and very precarious tsingy. Tsingy is an ancient limestone formation that is characteristic in this area. It's fun to look at. Not so much to touch. So says my scratched hands and slightly lacerated knee.
The Malagasy men with me are doing this in sandals. I've got my hiking shoes on and it's a struggle. I don't know how they do it.
We reach the aye aye's nest. And wait. And wait. And wait. Meanwhile, the forest is erupting with the screams and grunts and hollers of the brown lemur. They are loud little fuckers. And then...
Movement in the trees! Shouting in Malagasy! Pretty sure swearing in Malagasy! Flashlights everywhere!
She was there...and then she wasn't. Quick little thing, our girl. Only the tracker got a glimpse. And he said he only saw her tail.
We make our way back through the tsingy. I, miraculously, get out with only the small cut on my knee. And while I didn't get to see the aye aye, I did: get to trek through the woods and tsingy with 3 Malagasy men who were just as psyched as me to see the aye aye; see my first chameleon; and see the absolutely adorable golden brown mouse lemur, which is only found in this part of the world and is not held in captivity anywhere else.
On the ride back home I show Illody and Radu pictures of Gus, Étienne, and Mabel. I tell them all about Florida wildlife. Neither had heard of the manatee. So as soon as I had WiFi I pulled up pictures. They were astonished. And even more astonished that I can see them on the regular while paddle boarding. I forget sometimes that I live in a part of the world with incredible and diverse wildlife. I won't take that for granted going forward. Be prepared for night walks at Bungalow Bohème.
