Okay so, like, firstly, time period: The TC lore is set in early versions of minecraft which, to me, function like a somewhat-medieval fantasy sort of vibe. Much more focused on magic than tech, larger kingdoms and such rather than, like, cities n shit. Y'know? Anyways.

Sky was Crown Prince of the Aether, but he left his duties a long time ago to live in the Overworld. He's presently residing as the General of an Overworld kingdom's army, though he eventually gets elected leader. (Elective monarchy !!!) Roughly ~23. Demigod(?? Herobrine's kid).

Lox is their best friend, they've known each other basically since Sky got to the Overworld. He arrived there himself not long before Sky did! Although Lox came from the Underworld. He's a Lampade, a nymph of the Underworld! Looks like a ghost/spirit, and doesn't really have a clear age but appears about 22-23 as well. Lives in Sky's kingdom as well although he doesn't really have a job, he's just an absolute menace to society. They meet Jerome next -- he doesn't live in the kingdom, rather in a forest a fair bit away from it. He's a pretty standard hybrid, just a bear -- specifically a Kodiak bear! He's about 21 and he mostly just makes money from hunting and stuff like that. Husky's next! He's a Merling, specifically an axolotl. (If you wanna get even more particular, he's a lavender axolotl. :3) He takes up living in the kingdom himself a while after he meets the group; he fancies himself something of a scientist! He's about 24.

Jason comes after! He is a Starborne, specifically that of a yellow supergiant. He meets the group after he quite literally crashes down to Earth; originally he tries to find a way back, but eventually he relents and settles in the Overworld. He's also quite the scientist, specifically interested in biology and the like of other hybrids. He's also both the oldest and the youngest of the group -- physically, he looks to be around seventeen years old. Literally / chronologically, he's actually a few hundred THOUSAND years old. (This is, actually, very young for a star, hence the discrepancy.)

They meet Seto next -- he, similarly to Jason, gets trapped outside of his proper home. He's an alchemist from the End (being an Enderborne specifically), and got caught in a severe rainstorm while on an expedition of sorts to the Overworld for materials, causing him to get lost and lose the portal. He settles in fairly quickly, though, and finds he quite likes being in the Overworld -- even if some people are.. less than kind to other-dimensional hybrids (especially those of the End, given their, uh... high tensions).

Finally, Bajan! Jerome has actually known Bajan the longest, knowing him a good few years before everyone else. Bajan is a sentient (life-sized) ball-jointed doll. He doesn't know it, but he was originally created as a replacement for his creator's ("Dad's") deceased son. Jerome found him in a VERY decrepit house on a hunting trip one day; Bajan himself was fine (largely due to not needing to eat/sleep/etc), but the house was in total disrepair following his creator's death. While Bajan was TAUGHT how to fix these sorts of things, mobility issues stemming from being.. well, a doll, led to them just being too hard for him to do on his own. Jerome convinced him to leave and go with him, and they were living together since! Bajan also gave everyone else (namely Sky and Lox) fucking heart attacks when they first met, due to Bajan's. Entire existence, really. His face can't move to make expressions and his mouth doesn't move when he speaks, rather he has a voicebox in his chest, so the general reaction was "HEY WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT". He also has kind of an odd age. He was made to be around his early 20s, but if we go off the amount of time he, himself, has actually EXISTED, he'd only be, like..... six. whizzer moves the pieces randomly in the revival but i like to imagine he's actually beating marvin at the game in the end... and the whole thing was him pretending to not know how to play, and that hurt marvin's ego more than anything

"now marvin, bend" as a sexy moment but later gets re-framed as a "unwillingness to change perspective" moment

"nothing is everything to me / except sex / and money" in that money whizzer is playing to marvin's insecurity that he's only sticking with marvin for his money- is so needlessly cruel (and thus such... delicious character writing lol)

"and he loves me so" that "so" at the end is sort of a "loves me so much" but also a dare. he loves me, so what can you even do about that?"

"son with a brain, and nice bright mother" showing mendel is like marvin (+ many, many men) and wants a wife half just to do domestic labor for him (goes well with the "washing your laundry, washing your socks!" line)

i love that "what ive done to you is rotten" is the slap to trina, is not taking to jason about his sexuality, and is Also telling trina and jason he "never ever, wanted to love" them. triple treat of bad parenting lol (but our man gets there in the end #bless him)

"a man kid, you'll be kid, whatever your song" the kind of reversed coming out metaphor of it all. ugh. so good!! (also i always cry at this bit bc... i will never have this with my parents :) rip haha whoops)

"should i take this new promotion OR should i take this IBM job?" is an amazing, anti-corporate lyric that fits greatly w/ the most explicitly political (likely authorial) song in the musical that, imho, shouldn't have been cut in the revival. in hindsight tho i imagine the revival people felt very proud and """progressive""" when they made that cut lol is very much a typical liberal move: "cant have true emancipation or revolutions but u cant have some \~upward mobility in the job market xoxo". also on the same vein, cutting the line "i'll change my life, and hire a maid" from the og "and fire the maid" like it's this huge feminist moment lol ughhhh hh

(other line-cuts that frustrate me… "it's queer, mr. marvin", "i could use a little drink" and "i just bought a family" . i feel w/ all of these they tooks some "edge" of the OG characters and kind of attempted to make them "nicer". but it really just makes them a little flatter, a little less real) ( and also some scenes just plain make less sense (marvin's drink line leading to his outburst)

(but bc it's not All Bad sdklfj in fairness, i belie the whole "why don't we tell him, that we don't have the awnsers? (…) this is the start to his becoming a man" bit - is SUCH a great part for mendel, it goes so hard and from what i remember is not in the original falsettos? correct me if im wrong but if it was a new addition in the revival, imo it's a huge improvement to the scene flow… and dare i say, brings the whole climax together, and spells out The Aesop for people who hadn't gotten it by the end of Act 2) -"let me go, im not ashamed to have loved you" // "what's the matter trina, darling, why cant you let go?" -"feel all right for the rest of your life" The Message of the play implicit in it.. "even if it's cut short"

Helion was the best mate anyone could ever ask for. He could cook, he understood my emotions, gave me space, could give amazing cuddles and kisses, he was great in bed but most of all he cared.

In a sense no one had ever done before. When I wanted him home, he was home. When I visited him during a meeting he made me sit in his lap and glared at anyone who decided to mention it.

We had been mated for at least 6 months by now. And it was absolute bliss. Every single day he would wake me up with his head between my legs, every single night he would worship me like a queen. His kisses made my knees weak and my head dizzy.

Sighing at the thought of him kissing me, I continue trying my best at a dish that Rhysand used to cook for me as a child.

Just as I’m about ditch the recipe and head to his office, a strong pair of arms wrap around me.

Melting into his touch, I lean back. He kisses my neck and bites at my soft spot making me moan softly.

“Hey baby,” turning around my hands run through his beautiful hair. His lips find mine almost instantly. My back presses against the counter and I arch into his touch. Pulling him closer my fingers stray to the hem of his shirt.

“As much as I would love to continue this, I have to tell you something,” he pulls away. My kind is still reeling from his intense kisses. Nodding, I ask him to keep going.

“The Night Court wants to negotiate some stuff with us,” he told me.

Raising an eyebrow I beckon him to continue. “I want you to come with me, your first appearance outside of Day Court as High Lady, and I know what you’re going to say, that you’re not ready or you’re not sure, but I know that you’re ready, I also know how much you miss your brother and your nephew,”

He was right, I mean when was Helion ever wrong?

“I suppose Nyx should meet his uncle,” I sigh dramatically.

“Can you help me make this dish, Rhysand used to make it for me,” I ask him.

“Rhysand can cook?” he gapes at me in shock. “You can cook too sweetheart,” I lay a soft kiss on his adam’s apple and start gathering the ingredients.

“I know what you’re trying to make, you relax I’ll make it for you,” Helion says pressing kisses against my shoulder.

He’s elbow deep in flour, looking like an absolute vision. His golden eyes glint in the sun, his tan skin more prominent as the sun started setting.

We had decided to get this house because of its position and how the sun was almost always reflecting some room.

In the mornings it was our bedroom, during the day it was the seating area outside and during the evening it always seeped into the kitchen.

Not that I was complaining, it made the Day High Lord in front of me look softer and almost vulnerable.

“You’re staring, my love” Helion chuckles, his voice oozing smugness. “Is it so wrong for a female to enjoy the view her mate is providing?” I question, teasing.

“No I suppose not, you know I have to put this in the oven for awhile and we have some spare time,” he cheekily suggests.

“What shall we do?” I say feigning innocence. He circles around to the side of the counter where I’m sitting and gently holds my chin, “You’re so innocent right now but wait until I have you begging and writhing underneath me,”

I gulp, his words go straight to my core.

“What are you waiting for then?”

Ten Under-Recognized Jirai Kei Characters!

Ive been meaning to make a post on some jirai kei characters that i think are underappreciated by the overseas landmine community! Mostly i think its bc they don't wear girly kei, cybercore, or other fashions associated with us on SNS, and bc their media came out before 2020. So ive compiled a list and an explanation for why i think they're jirai! I have another list for pien kei characters who arent jirai in my opinion too. If u have any characters u think the western jirai comm sleeps on, comment/reblog and tell me who & why!

1. Celestia Ludenberg

Celestia (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc) has screamed landmine to me for like, ever! She's wrapped up in her appearance and at first glance makes the effort to come off as regal and formal. But she frequently lets that disguise slip and shows her sadistic side at the slightest inconvenience, threatening violence and screaming in peoples faces. She's got both a superiority complex AND inferiority complex, and has an unhealthy obsession with gambling, her super high school level talent.

2. Nijimin Anazawa

Nijimin (Mahou Shoujo Site) is super popular in the japanese jirai comm, and its easy to see why. She's easily lovestruck and a borderline yandere (dependent type), murderous and hellbent on revenge, and her magical power literally revolves around manipulating others. She's a beloved idol and a symbol of cuteness, but she's a murderous magical girl? How much more jirai can you get!

3. Mayoi Ayase

Mayoi (Ensemble Stars) is a very interesting character! From his obsession with the occult to his self depreciating behavior to his obsessive and stalkerish tendencies, he's an overall offputting yet charming guy. As an idol, he has fans who have a totally different image of him than the creep (affectionate) he can be at times behind the scenes. Also, not to stereotype, but his favorite sanrio character is kuromi, whos super popular within jirai.

4. Yuri

Yuri (Dokidoki Literature Club) being a landmine seems a little self-explanatory to me. She's a yandere character who's probably the most unassuming of the cast at first. She's shy, smart, kind... and a self-harming yandere with a knife fetish who will literally kill herself if you get involved romantically or reject her.

5. Yoosung

Wow, when's the last time I thought about Mystic Messanger? No idea, but Yoosung feels pretty jirai kei to me in retrospect. In the beginning of the game, hes the adorkable self-conscious junior with an unhealthy online addiction. But, by the end, he's a self-harming yandere who refuses to let the player character go, and is willing to do whatever it takes to secure a happily ever after.

6. Kusokawa-chan

While I have an immeasurable hatred for her creator, Kusokawa-chan (Menhera-chan spin-off 4komas) is a comfort character of mine... for some reason. With a name that means "kawaii trash", her personality is probably predictable. She's human trash, a sadistic asshole with no respect for others who will insult and berate you at the drop of a hat, and turn on a dime on her fans. She tries to cover it up by putting on an exaggerated innocent act and kawaii-fying herself and her life, but she just cant stop herself from exploding on others with no remorse.

7. Azusa Mukami

Admittedly, everything I know about Diabolik Lovers is through its fandom as I've yet to cave and buy the games. But from what little I know, Azusa seems pretty jirai. He seems innocent, fragile even- but has the typical amount of yandere tendencies for the series. He has a self harm addiction, and if you peruse his route you're in for a toxic time.

8. Satou Matsuzaka

This might be cheating because she's so popular on yandere tumblr, but Satou Matsuzaka (Happy Sugar Life) is ultra jirai kei. It's no wonder she's such a popular choice of pfp on japanese jiraitwt! She's obsessed with living out a fantasy saccarine-sweet life with the object of her desire, and given her full-blown yandere nature and her lolicon status, its no doubt shes a toxic partner. She's beloved at her school and workplace for her seemingly sweet nature and cute looks, but her kindness is only for the purposes of manipulation.

9. Kosame Amagai

Again, I'm no expert on Diabolik Lovers! But based on what my friends on yandereblr tell me, this guy is definately a jirai danshi. He's a lover of all things cute, who uses his cute shota-like appearance and polite manner of speech to lure others in. In reality, hes an abusive partner in his route, and takes his anger out on others verbally. He's willing to cry, scream, and threaten over the smallest of transgressions. Of course, he's also a yandere as per series standard.

10. Momonga

Okay so this is only half-serious, but there's a reason Momonga (Chiikawa) is so beloved by jirai girls and often depicted fitting the visual jirai stereotype in fanart. She's ultra cute! But she uses her appearance and acting vulnerable and innocent to try to get away with shithead behavior. She's loud, erratic, and self-obsessed, and often cries when she doesn't get her way. She's obviously the worlds cutest little manipulator, and she knows it.

Especially with American Tradition, you can tell how much thought you put into these characters, the time and feeling that went into them, and being someone who relates to that, you need way more recognition. i talk a lot about how american tradition is based off of my real life, and i guess that’s the reason it comes off the way it does. even little things like how sledge holds praline by the back of the neck, it’s all deeply personal. it’s a horror story that’s dramatized and movie-ish but it will always have a heart in reality. i have a little author memoir coming up detailing some things that inspired me to write this story. american life is gruesome and confusing. when i have heavy visual themes of the american flag, shotguns, and trucks, i really hope people care to look deeper and understand it all comes from absurdity, and the things used in popular culture to try and cover up socioeconomic decline. that’s why the flag is always in your face.

Oh my god thank you so much! This is so sweet. I'm surprised my first ever post is doing as well as it is. I expected to pass as pretty unnoticed in the beginning. I do have a lot of headcanons for the characters, but I'm going to do Leo in this one since he's my absolute favourite

Note: I haven't read the HOO books in a while, but I just finished my reread of PJO, so if any 'headcanon' is actually canon, please just pretend that I'm Uncle Rick himself.

Leo Valdez Headcanons - loves sweet&spicy. If that's an option in the menu at the restaurant he went to, he will absolutely get it. He's kind of obsessed with it to the point where one might get worried about his taste buds

- if he had to choose between sweet and sour, he would absolutely pick sweet any day. That's not really the best considering he's very ADHD, even for a demigod and his intake of sugar doesn't really help much, but he just loves sweet. He doesn't care if it's chocolate-type sweet or sugar-sweet, he just likes it. You can bet that when he comes out of Bunker 9 after a long day, his tongue would be all types of colours because his 'meal' for the day was whatever candy was in his stash of sweets

- now if you made the choice between sweet, sour and spicy, he would struggle to pick

- he hates coffee. he's simply not a coffee guy. he thinks it tastes nasty, since we established he loves anything sweet and coffee is definitely not sweet. and he doesn't need it anyway, he's hyper as is. if anything, coffee makes him more tired

- i feel like he would get pretty into anime if he tried watching it. from the trending shonen, chainsaw man would be his fave, but in general he would be such a fan of one piece imo. he is that person who has unironically watched the whole thing like three times - he feels guilty when he isn't doing something productive since he feels this need to constantly be creating something, but he also loves to just get distracted by something and do his own thing for hours, even if there's no 'productive' outcome. so he 'wastes' his time and feels guilty the entire time, but the enjoyment he gets out of it evens out the guilt (what do you mean i'm not projecting on my favourite character... at all...)

- secretly a good singer. piper once caught him singing in the shower and then dragged him out and forced him to sing out loud because she was not expecting such an angelic voice to come out of him

- his go to karaoke song is 'cake by the ocean' by dnce

- i feel like he would learn how to play the guitar and he will be shockingly good at it. like he learns a song so fast and because his fingers are always doing something and tinkering with things, this is the perfect way for him to get his energy out while also having lots of fun

- i also feel like he would purposefully not tell anyone he learned the guitar and one day he just whips out this new talent of his and everyone's like '????'

- honestly, leo is just good at everything. if he wasn't a hephaestus kid, he would be a son of hermes, because he is such a jack of all trades. he is incredibly intelligent (which is canon, btw, and if it's not yes it fucking is have you seen the guy, he is borderline as smart as Annabeth, if not smarter, just in another flavour), but also anything he attempts to do, he succeeds in. he can draw, he can play the guitar, he can sing, he absolutely is a great dancer. you would expect he sucks at cooking but nope, there he goes, making a gourmet meal like it's nothing. he isn't much of a fighter, but if he needs to hold his ground, he can. he's just so versatile, you can barely catch him off guard with something he can't master in a few hours

I fucking love Leo, can you notice this from my post?? dire came around somewhere around the same time ,,, he split as a secondary protector n comforter of sorts!! he has gone thru many iterations and has multiple introject sources cuz he rly just took the form of who/what was the best comfort source 4 us at the time!! he started as an oc introject tho n thats still vry important to his identity :3 later he ended up as the form of a character who was german and had a german accent and that has had a lasting impact on his voice as well!!! i could ramble abt dire 4ever hes so silly we love him

fen has been around 4 a while but she was a "sub alter" to reffy and went by reffen but a few months ago we had a think and went HMMMM U KNOW. ACTUALLY SHE IS LIKE THEIR WHOLE OTHER PERSON SHE IS NOT A SUB ALTER ANYMORE!!! so we let them split off completely n its been better for both them and reffy !!!!

AND LASTLYYYY ZANE!!! he split on november 9th of this year!!! so some prior context jax is made up of a TONN of fragments just cuz of how his trauma holding function works. but he doesnt rly like splitting any of them off cuz hes . WEIRD. but we went to an emo night party and one of the fragments in him had a WHOLE AWAKENING listening to mcr and fallout boy and getting drunk in the moshpit (more context jax refuses to listen 2 anything but green day cuz HES!!! WEIRD!!!!) and it took like 3 days of internal deliberation but jax FINALLY DECIDED to let him be his own person!!!! and hes very happy that way X)

!!!! ok first off i just wanna say u made my day with this ask im so excited that other people r excited abt this and want to hear my explosions (also i definitely want to make individual profile posts for each tribute so this will be. sparknotes of what i have thought up so far :D) Tango - i have tango in district 3, along with mumbo. district 3 is the technology district, and with mumbos redstone contraptions and tango's decked out programming, it felt very obvious placements to me :] i dont think they were very close at all before the games. not in a bad way, just they didn't cross eachothers paths all that much (subject to change but in life series canon theyre never on the same team iirc). theyre cordial in the proceedings before the games but dont train together or plan to team up. tango, skizz, and bigb eventually ally together during the training days before the games! (aka heart foundation) Jimmy - jimmy and scar are actually from the same district, district 11! 11 is the agriculture district, and to place jimmy in this district i pulled from his ranchers and empires sheriff vibes if that makes sense. i also just know that 11 is one of the poorest districts and doesn't usually do well in the games, and we all know jimmy in these games. (i considered jimmy in 12 bc of the canary thing, but skizz and impulse r from there and i figured putting him somewhere else is fun too!) scar - as said above, scar is from district 11! i don't think he is expected to do super well in the games from the reaping, but during interviews its clear that he has the charisma to get some sponsors. i honestly haven't thought up all that much for scar yet but dw i will (he literally wins. how could i ignore him) fun fact! scar and jimmy were going to kind of team together, but during the first day of training, scott (career tribute) makes some joke to gem about how they wouldnt stand a chance if they teamed together bc of their district. jimmy let this get in his head and decided to split from scar, causing both of them to be loners at the start of the games. jimmy eventually finds martyn during the games and they ally bc of reasons (that i can get into if we want to), but scar stays relatively alone honestly most of these tributes and their district placements are pretty set in my mind, except for martyn, cleo, and bigb, who i still can't figure out where to put (if anyone has suggestions pls send them lmao). ive got some bits and plot points from the series already worked out into a hunger games universe, but a lot of it i dont! if theres any specific part of the series anyone wants to ask about, please do!! i work best when someone tells me what to brainstorm on lmao. anyways lol hope yall r liking this! i dont have any clue if it will gain any traction, but i've been thinking abt this au so much since the finale and i wanted to try and share it and talk about it with people :D pls send comments or asks abt any of it if you want to !!!

you know ive never thought about it before but why is shintaro such a codependence magnet. this guy is out here polarizing his relationships like a professional. ayano. takane. ok that's most of it i guess. like i genuinely do mean this lovingly but it seems like whenever this guy has a problem his default course of action is to cling to his nearest Emotional Support Girl like a koala. AND HES SO IRRESISTIBLE ABOUT IT TOO they can't even tell him no (or at least not easily). they just see his big wet puppy eyes and they're like ARGH fine you can stay over. or i guess in ayanos case she just immediately falls back into affectionate patterns.

its kinda sad that the main healthy way to interact with shintaro is at arms length bc if you let him get too close he just Clings. saying stuff he doesn't even really mean to get you to stay bc he's so Scared of abandonment that his first priority isn't processing how he feels, it's Convincing You To Stay. which i guess makes a LOT of sense given ayaki(?) and the whole isolation thing afterwards (forgive me if this is inaccurate I've only vaguely kept up with the lore since like. 2016).....

and then u have kano who grew up feeling like the only healthy way to interact with Anyone is to keep them at arms length and. and. where was i going with this. augh anyway your kanoshin is doing things to my brain. (i hope im not wildly misreading your authorial intent bc whatever you're doing it's amazing.)

YA LIKE i wouldn't say he's codependent with ayano but it's like u said, she easily falls back to that pattern. she has a weak spot for shintaro. that was her first love and like... they were WRITTEN for each other. so no matter what shintaro and ayano do, they can't keep away from each other too long. it's in their damn code...

and yesss i do think that's what draws shintaro to kano at the beginning. he'll always hold him accountable lol. in the end, that's how shintaro feels truly understood. though of course with shinaya breakup shintaro did deal with a fair share of ayano's rage too hehe. and currently, i think ayano would be able to put her foot down too

as for takane. i'm making takane (and haruka) more of a comic relief and the Best Friend archetype of a romcom, where the character has no real purpose other than trying to reason with an incompetent protagonist and only shows up after a good deal of bad choices has been made by the protagonist. hehe. which is kinda funny considering haruka and takane are my favorite characters LMAO i think they work as a good foil for shintaro and ayano though. they're currently living a normal ass life while shintaro and ayano are... doing whatever the hell they're doing! their codependency is currently doing better tho. takane has another priority before shintaro now (baby)

They teach you their native language!

Even though he's been playing for Bastard München for a long time, occasionally French words still slip into Noa's sentences. It's a bit funny but also makes you want to learn the language better. You've been learning French in school for a while, but always struggled with it. At first, it started with Noa helping with your homework, but it quickly turned into him teaching you the language in an attempt to get you to speak somewhat fluently. Because of his help, you end up becoming one of the best students in your French class.

Chris noticed quickly how you still struggle with your English a lot. You're good enough to properly communicate and have conversations, but every now and then it takes you a while to find the right words. Chris always remembers which words you fail to keep in your head and in which situations you usually struggle. If that happens, he's there to help you and makes sure you don't feel bad for any mistakes you make. He also always points your improvements out and praises you for getting better.

Lavinho missed having someone who understands all his silly and funny Portuguese phrases and curse words - so that's the first thing he taught you. Initially, that's all he wanted but it got you interested in learning more words and phrases until Lavinho just decided he'll teach you to know enough for basic conversations. Teaching you is fun because it means you're the only one around him who understands his curse words, but he also adores your dedication to learning his native language.

Snuffy noticed you tend to avoid speaking Italian because you're ashamed of how bad it is. You tend to speak in English instead, and while Snuffy doesn't mind that at all, he wants to encourage you to speak Italian more often so you'll improve. It took a bit until you got the courage to speak Italian more often, but you were happy when you did and started noticing more improvement. Snuffy always makes sure to not make you feel embarrassed if you make a mistake. Instead, he calmly corrects you and lets you continue talking.

They learn your native language!

Noa has often thought about learning another language, but there just wasn't one that got his interest, until you mentioned your native language to him. He didn't tell you about it right away, but he felt an urge to learn it. He didn't know where to start, so he ended up asking you about it. It made you very excited and you were happy to teach him!

Chris always thought it was cute how you mixed in words from your native language whenever you talked. He quickly picked up the things you say most commonly, but he figured out it'd be cool if he learned more. He asked you to teach him more phrases, and he learned them quicker than expected! He's nowhere near being fluent, but it's nice to see how much effort he puts in for you.

Lavinho was intrigued by your native language the first time he heard you talk in it and immediately asked you to teach him a few words. As time progressed, you went from teaching him words to teaching him full sentences until he was able to have a short conversation with you. He promised he'll learn it more seriously at some point, but of course, that takes time and he hasn't found the time to properly study the language, but until then he's happy to learn from you!

Snuffy knew you had nobody except your family who spoke your native language with you, so he decided to learn a bit to surprise you with it. He originally planned to only learn a few basic phrases, but then he got lost in it and learned a lot more in the span of two months. At first, he was a bit unsure how to tell you and never found a proper chance, but after your team won an important match he praised you in your native language, and it made you even more emotional than you already were.

i think he'd be alright as a parent. not great, but not completely awful. he's present, mostly! world's most mid dad. he has that on a mug he never uses.

for a man who ive always headcanoned to want to preserve his rule over faerun (and bane's grip on the land too), having kids is the next option because he'd be able to mould them to take up his mantle when he's gone. theyre just another step in his plan to keeping the world under his control. i think he would be thrilled to find out about it, and then something else would get his attention and it's pushed to the side until he can properly process it.

as someone who had an absent (to put it simply) parent growing up, theres always that lingering fear that i would end up just like them and i think thats the case for gortash as well. humanising him for a second, there may be a part of him that keeps his distance because what if, yknow? sending his child off to be looked after by nannys and other staff while he stays at the opposite end of the building to get work done. that way nothing bad can happen to ruin his well crafted step by step plan in keeping rule over the world. okay done humanising him, back to evil now

i think as the kids get older and become more curious about things he may take more of an interest then. you cant really... do much with babies. hes not about to babble at them or play with them, but a toddler who wants to explore and look at things? come along, child. let me show you some machines you are way too young to be near.

teaches them the ways of bane from the moment they can start to understand words. ik theres studies(?) out there saying u should talk to your young kids like normal to help with their vocabulary and gortash definitely does that. this man cannot do baby talk. he sits with them over dinner discussing politics and leadership. bedtime stories? no, no, he's telling them in depth political moves hes planning on doing

ive specifically thought about this in terms of my durge, rue and gortash, and how its a good ending for him but a bad ending for her. its a vague au in my head right now but man. who let the bhaalspawn and banite have kids?

that poor child. as well loved as a child growing up in a political atmosphere with an emotionally distance mother & a father whos only taking notice of them when theyre old enough to start properly learning things can be... thats gotta be a rough childhood...
