Hermione is the one who insists they all go see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace on opening night. She watched the original trilogy with her dad a bunch of times growing up, and looks forward to going to see it with him, but she begs Ron to come too, and he asks if Harry and Ginny want to go, so all four of them go with the Grangers, and they have a lot of fun. Ginny subsequently becomes obsessed with Star Wars. Harry likes it too, though he's not as hard core as Ginny.

I have been drifting back to STAR WARS fandom lately and I have been greatly rewarded for it, especially in the gen fic veins, because there have been some banger fics authors have been putting out! And the thing that really gets me in the fannish heart is that there's more and more fics about the Jedi, both for exploring the characters and the culture. I have been able to find multiple fics that have been kind to Mace Windu! I have been able to find multiple fics that explain what attachment actually is to the Jedi and to Star Wars! I have been able to find multiple fics that lift my spirit up or punch me in the feelings in exactly the right way, both for the usual disaster lineage faves, but also for the Jedi as a whole. I'm serious, that means the world to me in this fandom, and I desperately want to share that with you all. LET ME SHOVE FIC AT YOU THAT LOVES THESE CHARACTERS AND THIS WORLD AS MUCH AS I DO!!
FICS THAT PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE WITH HOW GOOD THEY WERE: ✦ wayfinding by night by wrennette, obi-wan & luke & cast, time travel, 10.2k Before him stood a fellow Jedi, worn and weary with loss. Obi-Wan finds himself on Ahch-To and helps Luke find a path through his grief. ✦ may you inherit his light by notbecauseofvictories, leia & bail & anakin & cast, 2.5k When your father dies, say the Coruscanti, you are left clutching a star map for a different galaxy. In this, as in many things, Leia is her fathers' daughter. ✦ No Freedom From the Storm (But Peace In Its Midst) by Be_Right_Back, mace & cast, ~1k Mace is freefalling. On his way down, he meets Hatred, and reaches for Serenity. ✦ "...if you remain his student" by Peppermint_Shamrock, anakin & ahsoka & cast, 3.9k Ahsoka doesn't leave the Jedi Order. This does not save Anakin. This was never going to save Anakin. Nor stop him. ✦ a distant fire is burning by e_va, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & cal, time travel, 47.4k wip Cal Kestis can move backwards in time (kinda-sorta-not really), and his confrontation with Darth Vader in the Fortress Inquisitorius plays out a lot differently. Fixing the timeline while stuck in his 10-year-old body will be quite the task, but Cal is up to it. He has to be. (Obi-Wan, Anakin, and the clone troopers have no idea what to make of Kenobi's weird new padawan. At least the kid fits in, though.) ✦ No Death, Only the Force by ExtraPenguin, anakin & mace & depa & shmi, 2.8k Anakin Skywalker is just about to to free his mother from the Tuskens when the Force rudely yanks him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant – and into Mace Windu's body. Mace, on the other hand, gets tossed into Anakin's body on Tatooine. ✦ Well Met by avocadomoon, obi-wan/padme (unconsumated) & corde & anakin, 19k "Here and then gone again," Padmé said. "It must be lonely." "Sometimes," Obi-Wan said. "But a Jedi is never truly alone."
THIS FANDOM HAS A HAMMER AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF NAILS AND A REALLY GOOD STAPLE GUN, WE'RE FIXING WHAT CANON BROKE AND NOBODY CAN STOP US NOT EVEN GOD: ✦ Begin again by mauvera, obi-wan & qui-gon & anakin & padme & mace & dooku & cast, time travel, 78.9k Five years into his self imposed exile on Tattooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi is gifted the chance to go back and bring hope back to the galaxy. With hindsight on his side, he fully intends to save his master, save his padawan, make some new and old friends again, prepare the Jedi for a war they’ll hopefully never see and begin to pull apart all the many tangled threads of the Sith Lord’s plans. ✦ Repetition by Peppermint_Shamrock, cody & obi-wan, time loop, 3k Cody wakes up from a nightmare on the way to Utapau, again and again.
CANON-COMPLIANT (MOSTLY, UP TO A CERTAIN POINT, WHATEVER) DISASTER LINEAGE: ✦ it's like i can feel time moving by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 5.4k “Hi,” Anakin says. It's after midnight. “Is everything alright?” “Can’t a man stop by his old master’s room?” Obi-Wan stares at him blankly. “Are you out of food?” ✦ yes, I will take you / I will love you, again by foreverstudent, obi-wan & anakin & cast, time travel, 2.5k "So you have tried, Padawan." Qui-Gon takes a moment, and his expression is steely but not unkind--the one Obi-Wan remembers from particularly grueling training sessions. "Would you try again, if you had the chance?" OWK!Obi-Wan gets another chance, with a child he once left behind. ✦ No Good Deed Goes Unpunished by kittona, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 1.1k Anakin gets a bit overprotective when his loved ones are sick. Luckily, he has the best home remedy for a cold. ✦ nothing a cup of tea can't fix by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 1.5k when Anakin shows up to Obi-Wan's quarters in the middle of the night, the Jedi Master knows something has gone awry. answering Anakin's desperate cry for help, Obi-Wan is reminded of how very, very prone to dramatics his former padawan and grand padawan are. or Ahsoka gets sick and Anakin flips his shit. ✦ Stick Figures by KCKenobi, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 2k war is hard. war is draining. to make it more bearable, little mementos* are routinely given. *mementos: encouraging notes, funny little drawings, little gifts, fun snacks, and poems which might get Anakin in trouble. ✦ When the Ground Breaks by stolen_pen_name23, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 4.7k An earthquake causes devastation on the planet of Berchest. Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka work together to help save civilians until disaster pulls them apart. ✦ never fear, young one by marverse, obi-wan & ahsoka & cast, 6.2k Ever since her first day of being a padawan, Ahsoka Tano remembers the words that Master Skywalker had once told her. And every time, she wonders, wonders, and wonders. ✦ the street's a little kinder when you're home by gigglesandfreckles, obi-wan & anakin, 5.2k "So catch me up," Anakin says. "What did I miss?” Nothing. Nothing happens when you’re gone. “Oh, the usual.” [or: anakin goes missing. obi-wan doesn't handle it well.] ✦ holding anchor by foreverstudent, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 3.2k At the landing of Point Rain, an injured Obi-Wan allows himself to be sentimental over his former padawan, and Anakin patches up his old master. ✦ Nothing to Say by KCKenobi, obi-wan & anakin & satine, 3.2k (or: Anakin and Satine don’t know how to talk to each other. Until they remember the very important thing they have in common.) ✦ Aggressive Negotiations by SkyBlue1309, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 2.2k People forget that Anakin was raised by the Negotiator. He was bound to pick up on a thing or two. ✦ At The Window by Peppermint_Shamrock, obi-wan & anakin, ~1k In the early days of Anakin's apprenticeship, Obi-Wan searches for him in the Temple. ✦ The Words by Ibelin, obi-wan & anakin, 3.9k Obi-Wan Kenobi has never said I love you in his life. He can say a lot of other things, though.
JEDI CULTURE AND WORLDBUILDING AND CELEBRATION: ✦ Refractions of Light by Independence1776, ezra & kanan, 1.3k Kanan celebrates a Jedi holiday with Ezra. ✦ The grand outing by Ingata, dooku & sifo-dyas & obi-wan & bant & garen & reeft & yoda & cast, 4.5k Eight younglings and two Jedi masters on a field trip. What could possibly go wrong? ✦ into the statue that breathes by spoonks, obi-wan & feemor & cast, 8.5k The night watch in the garden was supposed to be the calmest of them all. No mischievous Padawans “sneaking” in or out, or ne’er-do-well civilians conducting “business” around the lower-level entrances that they didn’t know existed. No the gardens was still, and it was like time was frozen in ice that slowly melted away with the rising of the sun. A slow drip, drip— Drip. Immediately Feemor turned towards the central waterfall. Someone was standing there. Whoever they were, they were small and moved through katas with their hands open like a greeting. ✦ The Temple vs. Order 66 by LauraBWrites, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & cody & jedi & jedi temple, 3.9k The Temple cannot defy the Will of the Force. But it can, it will prepare for the possible outcomes. It can damn well fight back. ✦ We Three Runaways. by Aethir, obi-wan & depa & komari, 2.7k In which Depa and Obi-Wan bond, and a new sister is found. ✦ A Short Break by Peppermint_Shamrock, luke & yoda, ~1k Luke complains about his training, and asks about Jedi training of old. ✦ we are made of our longest days by bereft_of_frogs, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 4.4k Two years after the events of The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan and his new apprentice are called to a remote moon to fetch a baby who’s showing signs of a rare, unique power. On their journey home, Obi-Wan reflects on the last child he brought to the Temple and catches a faint glimpse of three possibly entwining futures.
I AM A PREQUELS ERA BITCH AND I'M MAKING THAT EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEM: ✦ the salle at dawn by maragny, anakin & mace, 1.5k wip Master Windu is the best duellist in the Jedi Order. When Anakin Skywalker is seventeen, he duels Mace for the first time, and it ruins both of them for anyone else. ✦ Saving People Counts as Revenge, Right? by ImperialKatwala, obi-wan & anakin & dooku, time travel, 4.3k wip Count Dooku of Serenno is an intelligent man. His methods may be a bit severe, and he may not be allowed true freedom to plan campaigns in the war he helped create, but he has always had an eye for strategy. Moving the pieces around the board and plotting out where they will need to be next. So, when he opens his eyes after Anakin Skywalker cut his head off, he knows to take a moment to assess what’s going on. ✦ if I could find solid ground again by maragny, anakin & depa, 1.5k “You never told me what we’re doing today,” Anakin says, a little hesitant. “I…I don’t know much about Jedi things yet.” "Good thing we’re not doing Jedi things, then,” Depa replies. “We’re cooking!” Or, Anakin and Depa, finding their places in their family. ✦ Birds Fly in Different Directions by Triscribe, jedi & clones, time travel, 14.6k In the corridor beyond her quarters, other Jedi were emerging from their own doors, most of them wide-eyed with shock. A few merely looked blearily concerned, and Aayla heard snatches of questions as she darted past, queries as to whether everyone experienced the same distressing vision. But those who clutched at their chests or throats, their weak points- those Jedi bore a muted horror in their eyes, and Aayla didn’t doubt they’d just suffered their own betrayals from trusted men.
✦ The Master, The Padawan, and The Force by Pandora151, padme & ahsoka, 1.9k Padmé Naberrie was never one to procrastinate. More than that, she maintained a steady, consistent schedule — something that she’d managed to keep ever since she was a Padawan. She was always on top of everything, from her responsibilities with the war to training her own Padawan, Ahsoka. She was well-known throughout the Order for being steady, reliable. And most notably, no matter what, she didn’t just forget things. Which made her current situation all the more…ridiculous. ✦ Off-by-one Error by Jessepinwheel, obi-wan & cast, 12.2k A stranger appears in the Jedi Temple. Nobody knows who he is or where he came from. Nobody knows what has happened to him except that it must have been something truly terrible. The stranger's name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. ✦ splinters of light by wrennette, dooku & jocasta & sifo-dyas & yoda & jaster & jango & cast, time travel, 22.5k When Dooku's dying consciousness was sent back into his younger body, at first he remembered only that something important would happen on Korda VI, and soon. His investigations brought both clarity and confusion, and a conviction that he must atone for evils not yet enacted. ✦ The Road that Reaches by ExtraPenguin, anakin & mace & yoda & depa & shmi, 11.5k As the Council sits down on Naboo to consider the newly-knighted Obi-Wan Kenobi's request to take young Anakin Skywalker as his padawan, they're informed of what transpired on Tatooine – and that Anakin used to be a slave. Mace Windu goes to interview the young child to confirm this, and gets rather more than he signed up for. ✦ the salle at dawn by maragny, anakin &/ mace, 5.1k Master Windu is the best duellist in the Jedi Order. When Anakin Skywalker is seventeen, he duels Mace for the first time, and it ruins both of them for anyone else. ✦ through the dark (like two flames) by treescape, kanan/cal & quinlan, 5.3k A Jedi found him on Bracca. Or, in the weeks after Order 66, Cal Kestis and Caleb Dume are reunited on Jabiim. Five years late, on the run from Inquisitors, they have a decision to make. ✦ Resilience by TemporaryUniverse, obi-wan & mace, 3.3k Twelve years after his defeat at the Battle of Naboo, Obi-Wan's greatest enemy has returned from the dead. Obi-Wan has faced Maul and lost. Now it is time to face himself. ✦ The Buried Truth is Your Favorite Lie by Peppermint_Shamrock, dooku & yoda, ~1k Dooku tries and fails to leave the past behind. ✦ Hanging On by the Last Threads of Our Hope by IllyanaA, ahsoka & rex, 5.2k Ahsoka and Rex have endured too much. After the Fall, they stay together until they can't, but the Force has a way of bringing them back together. It's a fact for which both of them are immeasurably grateful.
MULTIGENERATIONAL STAR WARS IS THE BEST STAR WARS: ✦ Future Tense by CeruleanTactician, obi-wan & anakin & luke, time travel, 1.4k Obi-Wan and Anakin find themselves twenty years in the future, where they meet a young man by the name of Luke Skywalker. ✦ Keepsakes by Coalmine301, obi-wan & leia, 2k “You were the one who gave me my bantha, weren’t you?” “Yes,” Obi-wan nodded with a small smile. “Your father told me they were your favorite animal. At least then it was.” ✦ Why the Sith Don't Have Class Reunions by Peppermint_Shamrock, anakin & palpatine & maul & dooku & ventress, time travel, 1.9k Sith apprentices rarely agree with one another (there’s a reason for the Rule of Two, after all), but Darth Sidious is starting to think that it’s worse when they do. ✦ My Dear Padawan by Tulak_Hord, luke & yoda & palpatine, time travel, 3.2k In which a time-travelling Luke Skywalker successfully saves the Galaxy in perhaps the most horrifying manner imaginable. ✦ The Return by Pandora151, obi-wan & leia & haja, 1.4k Haja wonders about the others. He wonders about the people he’s sent to the Path from Daiyu — not just Kenobi and the Princess, but that Force-sensitive boy and his mother, the Nautolan teenager from a few weeks ago, the young Kel Dor child and his even younger siblings. Did they all make it home? Are they safe? Was all of this worth it? ✦ Message From Guiding Light by Batsutousai, obi-wan & leia & mace, time travel, 2.2k Ben and Leia never make it to Mapuzo on the borrowed supply shuttle, instead finding themselves in the middle of the Clone Wars.
FRIENDSHIP WITH CANON ENDED, THIS COOL AU IS MY NEW BEST FRIEND NOW: ✦ Not A Moment Too Soon by Triscribe, depa & kanan & cast, 2k The first time she stumbled, her padawan said nothing, simply offering his shoulder for her to lean on. ✦ Parallel Lines by Pandora151, obi-wan & anakin, time travel, time loop, 10.7k Darth Vader leans back in his chair, allowing a small smile to form on his lips, hidden by his helmet. “There is no escape from this, Obi-Wan,” he utters. He looks down at the neat line of text, and the Force echoes his words. “No escape from the past.” ✦ through the dark (like two flames) by treescape, ca/kanan & quinlan, 5.3k A Jedi found him on Bracca. Or, in the weeks after Order 66, Cal Kestis and Caleb Dume are reunited on Jabiim. Five years late, on the run from Inquisitors, they have a decision to make. ✦ Loth-Cats and Loth-Rats by TessaDoesThings, mace & depa & kanan & ezra, 19k All Mace Windu wanted out of the Post-Clone Wars world was a simple trip with his lineage to the long-forgotten Jedi Temples of the Outer Rim. However, on Lothal, the three might have bitten off more than they expected. The Republic may have triumphed, but the roots of what could have become the empire are gripped in the corners of the galaxy, and it might be time for some aggressive space weeding. Or a coup d'etat. That would work too. ✦ a princess, a farmer, a teacher by jesuisdeux, obi-wan & luke & leia & bail, 1.4k Early in the morning, a girl and few men knock on a door. They don't wear anything resembling a soldier, but Obi-Wan has been a soldier long enough to notice the tense shoulders and wary looks beneath civilian clothing. She doesn't wear anything resembling a princess, but Obi-Wan knows these fierce eyes and grace coming from a righteous cause. or A New Hope AU where Vader doesn't attack Leia's ship and Leia herself delivers the news to Obi-Wan and consequently Obi-Wan doesn't die. ✦ What I Wouldn't Give To See Your Ghost by Triscribe , depa & kanan & cast, time travel, 1.2k “Who are you?” Depa demanded, externally calm but internally frantic. “What is this place? And where is my padawan?” ✦ when that day comes by katierosefun, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & maul, modern au/reincarnation au, 44.8k [or: the alternate universe where anakin skywalker has the chance at some new life…but only if he saves the life of a reincarnated obi-wan kenobi. the catch: neither of them know who the other was in the galaxy far, far away…but that might very well change.]

your blog is great, and you talk about your interests in such a compelling way! out of curiosity, who would you say are your top 10 fictional characters of all time? also, do you use twitter?
Thank you very much! It's hard to be entirely accurate about my personal top ten, but I still enjoyed thinking about it rather than about being sick and miserable, lol, so here's my attempt to come up with a Faves of Ultimate Destiny list.
(This isn't necessarily about evaluating their worth as characters or even as people, but just how much raw affection I feel. It's also not ranked, just the order in which I thought of them!)
Fitzwilliam Darcy from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (the book character specifically) — I know, nobody is surprised. He actually is my #1 choice.
Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars original trilogy — it's always hard for me to choose between him, his father, and his sister, but ultimately, I feel the most powerfully about Luke. I'm not here for soft, sunshiny fanon Luke, but I am super here for a Luke whose personal kindness, strength, and powerful loyalties mingle with his struggle against rage, fear, even hatred, and an inclination to idealize martial violence and solve his problems with it, yet who comes out the other side as the kind of Jedi that Anakin might have been rather than the authorities around Luke succeeding in forging him into something alien to his true nature.
Faramir from JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (very definitely the book character specifically) — again, I'm not super into soft and accommodating mundane guy Faramir, but very into the interplay of his basic compassion and gentleness with the repeated descriptions of him as stern, commanding, willful, and just really fucking strange. I love others a lot but no one can take his crown. (He may be uncrowned in canon but not in my heart!)
Gwen Thackeray from Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Eye of the North, games which most of you haven't played and I suspect would not enjoy for dated mechanics reasons, but which won my heart in the original tutorial zone. I have an explanation about Gwen's greatness here.
Attolia Irene from Megan Whalen Turner's The Queen's Thief books, but especially The Queen of Attolia. She's so precisely tailored to my tastes in female characters that I was kind of astounded, even though I read the books specifically for her based on my friends' TQT blogging. I mostly don't talk about her on this blog, but my feelings are really strong!
Aravis Tarkheena from CS Lewis's The Horse and His Boy. I know everything wrong with Narnia and specifically with THHB, but Aravis, what an icon.
Tarrlok from Avatar: The Legend of Korra. This is another close competition (with his brother Noatak/Amon along with both members of my beloved OTP, Korra/Kuvira), but if I'm being honest, he's the one who scrapes into the fave Avatar character slot. I've loved a lot of tragic villains, but he's really top tier.
Annabella from John Ford's seventeenth-century revenge tragedy 'Tis Pity She's a Whore. The title is quasi-ironic; it comes from a dismissive description of her by a super corrupt Catholic cardinal. Both the title and subject matter (murder, consensual sibling incest, a ton of misogyny) can make it a difficult play for some. But for me, Annabella is really what makes the play succeed on its own terms and outshine its Shakespearean inspiration.
Cesare Borgia from Showtime's The Borgias. In my heart this slot goes to both him and his sister Lucrezia (where #8 is definitely Annabella's alone, although I like Giovanni; if only S1 existed this slot would be rightfully Lucrezia's). But if I have to choose between them in the context of the show, I felt his arc was smoother and more coherent and satisfying throughout the show as a whole, so my love for him is less impeded by frustration.
I wasn't actively trying to only choose one character per canon, though it's wound out that way, but here's the exception: Cassian Andor from the 2016 Star Wars film Rogue One (and only that film—I'm not here for the novelization or other EU depictions or Andor or anything except what's in the movie). He's a gift of a character I never expected Star Wars to provide, and half of the only romance in SW that seriously matters to me.
Honorable "rewired my brain" mentions: Moiraine Damodred from Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (also in the show!), Sandrilene fa Toren from Tamora Pierce's Emelan books, and Lessa from Anne McCaffrey's Pern books were all deeply formative.
As for Twitter:
I definitely don't use it any more. I used to have multiple accounts, though I wasn't super active outside of academia/chatting with RL friends and the occasional random scholar who deigned to notice me. Twitter wasn't really the natural platform for my preferred "LJ fandom expat" style of online writing, and was mostly stuff like this:
[Damn, I had no idea what was coming with "AI" ... anyway.]
I was deciding whether to keep using Twitter as the Elon purchase was going down, and then he immediately did an antisemitism and I immediately cut all use of it. I later got around to locking down all three accounts; I only maintain them to control the usernames. Most of the people I knew on Twitter joined Bluesky around the same time as me, or can be more easily reached on Discord now. I mostly use Bluesky when I feel like microblogging, but it's not a feeling that often besets me.

[SLAMS DOOR OPEN]
ANAKIN.
Ehehehehe
GIVE ME A CHARACTER;
and I’ll break their ass down
Anakin!
How I feel about this character: he's my poor little meow meow, my beloved, my fave, my blorbo :P I love him, he really is my favourite Star Wars character
All the people I ship romantically with this character: This list is too long! ahahah my top ships for him are anidala and obikin but I love shipping him with all the characters haha rexani, codykin, anibail, anisoka, anidooku, maceani, I could go on and on and on
My non-romantic OTP for this character: LUKE I cannot explain how much I love the bond between Anakin and Luke, he literally managed to come back from the dark FOR LUKE ahhhhhh
My unpopular opinion about this character: ufff I have a lot xD I don't really think he's messy or as much as a human disaster as the fandom so much likes to paint him as, I don't think he dislikes meditation (we see him meditate several times during the movies and series), he's jealous and possessive but not in the macho alpha way that TCW made him during the Clovis arc, and he's blond, with wavy hair. I'm sorry but even if I like the wonderful art some artists share with us, when they make his hair dark brown it hurts my heart a little.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we had got to see more Force shenanigans like the last season of TCW, also more episodes with Yoda, maybe some lightsaber building at one point in his life
Thank you for sending me my beloved! Feel free to send more characters!

another ask answering post woah
got a few Long asks last night/yesterday so I'm just gonna answer all in a post instead of taking up everyone's dashes or trying to give small answers!!
featuring some skywalkers apart au, rey skywalker-djarin au, timejump au, and random other star war:
@just-prime KEEP THE UNHINGED DINLUKE RAMBLES TO A MAXIMUM ACTUALLY!!!
YOU'RE SO RIGHT i hadn't even thought of it like this!!! partly bc I just think of Luke like... not being too unhealthy abt Jedi stuff bc unlike Disney I wouldn't give him a complete personality transplant loll. BUT YEAH!!! Luke being happier and getting that differing perspective would so help him be a better teacher and give everyone less mental health issues!!
also what i'm hearing overall is they can fix ben with:
@cherrypine6 awww thank you!!! I'm currently not sure, I've got a scene w him written but I really don't know whether I'm keeping it in or not -- guess we're both gonna find out loll!!!
@mydearestblue LETS GOOOOO high praise thank u <3
@aberrations-reality OOHHHHHH!!! unfortunately leia's in her normal outfit and it doesn't go down quite like that but OHHHHHHH at the idea,,,
tbh I don't think Palpatine would oppress Naboo culture loads, but I do think he'd put an insane imperial presence there to protect his homeworld even tho it's ultimately doing more harm than good ): ...and higher imperial presence means he's more likely to catch padme w anakin if he ever visits
@erkhyan I had not!! thank you!! they're eli vanto kinning fr
thanks for the heads up anon!! i dont think i'll block them bc they seem respectful abt it & tag all their discourse/ don't tag it as characters + i think it's fair anakin maybe one of my faves of all time but ya know, he's a bit of a shit person, i get ppl who don't like him lolll <3 but still thank you for telling me!!! nice to know these things
#thanks for the ask!#sorry i wanted to give everything decent answers and not ignore them over 'wow several big ask' lolll

For whatever fandom you feel like chatting about:
💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?
I choose.... STAR WARS!! Thanks for the ask! 😁
💖 Ohhoh man. My BIGGEST unpopular opinion is that Yoda has Issues. Now I don't think he is evil or anything, but the little troll has some problems I think 😂 He was maybe a good Jedi, but I don't think he needed to be GrandMaster of the Order. Also I think he needed to take that Clone Was season 6 soul searching vacation a liiiiiittle sooner. And then in Empire Strikes Back he was bonkers lol
💚 Gahhhh my favorite character is a hard one because I love so many characters so much. Obi-Wan is probably my fave though, so something everyone gets wrong about him...
This is going into headcanon territory. You have been warned.
The Deception arc of the Clone Wars. A lot of people hate him for the way he handled that, and I agree that he should have handled it better. But I also think he covered for the Jedi Council when he told Anakin that the not telling him thing was his idea. Personal theory.
💕 Unpopular ship! Unpopular ship!
....I dunno if I have one. Oh! Plo Koon and Shaak Ti! They love each other and adopted all the Clones. True story
My other favorite ships are Leia/Han, Obiwan/Satine, Cassian/Jyn, Luke/Mara, Kanan/Hera, Padmé/Anakin and maybe a few others I forgot.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
I think I have answered this question before, but I don’t mind because I like talking about ny favourite characters!
(And my favourite characters change hourly, so-)
I can’t rank them, I love them all equally, but my current favourites:
1. Luo Binghe from Scum Villain Self-Saving System. I can’t help it. Fanon likes to paint him as comical, at times, but I love how competent he is! He just… would like to be a housewife. Preferably his Shizun’s housewife… and, he is, as Shen Qingqiu says himself, the type of person to smile to your fave while sliding a knife in your back and I love that for him
2. Quan Yizhen from Heaven Official’s Blessing. He throws a bed at Pei Ming. He’s obsessed with his shixiong and beats up his own followers for badmouthing him. He’s smart enough to realize that everyone thinks he’s stupid, therefore he can use obvious tricks because nobody thinks he can fool them. There’s a scene where Xie Lian and Quan Yizhen both praise something for being beautiful (I think it was the Brocade Immortal’s fighting) and even Ling Wen is like “You know I’m trying to kill you right?” He’s great :)
3. Tim Drake from DC Comics. The third Robin, the one most similar to Batman, the world second greatest detective. Can sneak up on Superman and managed to stalk Batman. Was going through a lot and tried to clone his best friend. The quintessential perfectionist. I headcanon that he plans his dates out on corkboards and no one will convince me otherwise. Also, his relationship with Ra’s Al Ghul in his Red Robin run was comedy gold.
4. Artemis Fowl from the books of the same name (I’ve never seen the movie and like to pretend it doesn’t exist). Fakes his own death multiple times and steals gold from fairies and is altogether a criminal mastermind. There’s a scene in the first book where Holly Short (the other main character) tells him to stay put and she’ll bring him back a lollipop (mocking him). She leaves and he mutters “But I don’t like lollipops.” Also gets made fun of for having a girly name, which I can relate to since I was made fun of for having a masculine name.
5. Shen Qiao from Thousand Autumns. God, he’s just the best. He is absolutely infuriating. He has the patience of ten thousand men. Began the book waiting for him to snap, then realized that I didn’t want him to lose his temper because that would make Shen Qiao sad and Shen Qiao deserves all the happiness in the world. His martial brother pushed him off of a fucking mountain. Yan Wushi names a deer after him. Have you ever seen baby Shen Qiao? Qiao-er?? The cutest little fella, the sweetest bean, has never done anything wrong in his life.
6. Marth from the Fire Emblem series. There’s a scene in the remake of the first game where, after you recruit one of the characters during a fight, Marth can talk to him. The character is like “I understand if you don’t trust me.” Marth: “Why wouldn’t I trust you?” “I literally tried to kill you fifteen minutes ago.” Marth: “The past is in the past.” Marth is just the most polite boy. He was the first male character to be included in the FEH Bridal Event and he is… so cute…
7. Mara Jade from Star Wars. Specifically Mara Jade in the Thrawn trilogy. She is loyal to Karrde because he was nice to her. She wants to kill Luke so bad, but she can’t because if she doesn’t find out why he’s so weird before she kills him, she’ll never be at peace. Darth Vader’s coworker. “Who’s this “son of Vader” you keep mentioning?” -Mara Jade, while sitting next to the son of Vader they keep mentioning. Mirrors Anakin and I just love that for her (especially since he went good -> evil and she went evil -> good, they mirror each other babeyyy) She’s like “Are you sure you don’t want me to murder this creepy old guy?” The straightman in her and Luke’s relationship and it is so funny that the literal ex-Dark Jedi is the normal one.
8. Hiwatashi Nazuna from BNA. She is in love with Michiru. Anyone else: “Your agent is weird.” Nazuna: “Shut up you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Michiru: “Your agent is weird.” Nazuna: “You make a great point and I’m going to start distancing myself from him right away.” The trickiest trickster to ever trick trickers. She is willing to kill for Michiru and it’s honestly very relatable.
9. Kudou Shinichi from Detective Conan. The dumbest man alive. Also the most dramatic man alive. Obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and infodumps about him constantly. Is terrible at pretending to be a child, literally nobody is convinced, but Conan is so cute, how can they say no to him? Has the strongest moral compass of any character (aside from maybe Shen Qiao) and the world is lucky his moral compass is so strong, because if he decided to be evil, no one would be able to stop him. My favourite moments are the ones where innocent little Conan-kun smiles and says horribly dark things that even make the murderer scared. Absolutely terrifying, at seventeen and seven, good for him.
10. Tianlang-jun from Scum Villain Self-Saving System. I know it’s another character from Scum Villain, but hear me out. He is absolutely insane. He decides to destroy the world because everyone thought he wanted to. He barters with Su Xiyan over how attractive his face is. He asks Zhuzhi-lang if he thinks he’s ugly. He is a pure-hearted innocent maiden and also the most powerful character in the book. He only loses to Binghe because he was stuck under a mountain for over a decade, and his body is rejecting his demonic qi and falling apart. He makes a coffin look like a throne and is intimidating as fuck, then asks Shen Qingqiu to help him up and his arm pops off. And he just says “Dang. It happened again, Zhuzhi-lang.” My favourite red herring of all time, I just want to pat-pat his head.
These are the current ones. Shout-out to Yan Wushi from Thousand Autumns, who spends the entire novel fucking with Shen Qiao then has the terrible realization that he fell in love with Shen Qiao. Also, he made a very convincing woman. Also also, as I was looking through my notes on Thousand Autumns, I was reminded that he has the truly remarkable ability to ruin Shen Qiao’s reputation without even being present. Amazing! Second shout out to Bai Rong, also from Thousand Autumns, who gets a crush on Shen Qiao and offers to become his sugar daddy. A lot of characters try to seduce Shen Qiao, but Bai Rong was my favourite because she was just so… cute about it.
I like a lot of characters… Thank you for your ask :)
#elaine2895#ask#long post#had to mention bai rong and yan wushi#because i spent a good portion of the book thinking#‘god if only shen qiao was straight life would be so much easier for him’#yan wushi is very good at seduction i promise#if by seduction you mean making people want to strangle him in his sleep#also special third shout out to yu shengyan#who showed up at the beginning of the novel#left for over half of it#and came back with absolutely no idea what was happening#also has the ability to attract daoists#he found shen qiao and yuan ying man#he’s so talented#the inane ramblings of a madman

star wars!
the character i least understand: I don’t totally get Bo-Katan, but then again, I haven’t seen Clone Wars so I’m guessing that would tell me more about her.
interactions i enjoyed the most: Honestly, I love the og3 (Luke, Leia and Han) interactions the most. They’re the original blueprint for all Star Wars relationships and there’s never been another duo/trio that matches them ❤️
the character who scares me the most: I mean, Sidious is probably the scariest character? Maybe? No character really scares me.
the character who is mostly like me: Hmm….it’s harder to do this with Star Wars. Maybe Anakin? A little lost, ambitious, really good hair…😝
hottest looks character: I mean, how do you answer this?? I’ll say either Din or Anakin. Same goes for their real life counterparts 🥰
one thing i dislike about my fave character: My favorite character changes so often lol. At the moment, I’d say it’s Leia and she’s pretty hard to find a flaw in. Maybe her stubbornness? But that’s also a virtue sometimes lol
one thing i like about my most hated character: Hmm…who’s my most hated?? I’ll say Moff Gideon for now, and I’ll give him 100 cool points. Giancarlo Esposito plays him so well and it’s unsettling how calm and collected the character is. He’s a bad guy you love to hate.
a quote or scene that haunts me: Obi-Wan’s whole “you were the chosen one” monologue to Anakin. Ewan’s delivery is heartbreaking and I can’t think of a more gut-twisting, stomach-aching, soul-crushing scene in the whole of Star Wars.
a death that left me indifferent: Idk, I don’t know if there’s any deaths that have left me indifferent. Maybe Ran and Q’in (I think that’s his name?) in Mandalorian?
a character i wish died but didn’t: I honestly can’t think of anybody who I wanted to die that hasn’t died.
my ship that never sailed: FINNREY. TILL THE END OF TIME
send me a fandom

Five comfort characters, five tags
Well, who would've thought I'd be tagged in something like this... not me 😂
Thanks @kindaconfusingme for thinking of me. Though I have to admit this task turned out to be rather hard for me, especially since I approached it with an "easy peasy lemon squeazy" kind of attitude. Turns out I got a lot of comfort things: books, movies, music, food, clothing... but comfort characters? A character that gives me comfort solely by existing and not as part of a story? Surprisingly, I had trouble naming even one character, let alone five...
Now, enough whining about my sorrows concerning this tag game. Please, enjoy this list of comfort(-ish) characters I compiled in no particular order.
Luke Skywalker (Star Wars) - he was actually the first to pop up in my mind when thinking of a comfort character. A few years ago this would have surprised even myself since I've always enjoyed Anakin and his dynamics with other characters far more than Luke. But since Disney keeps shitting out new material Luke made his appearance again and I have to admit that I was deeply moved by his appearance, it had a feeling similar to coming home after a long journey. It just felt good and comforting for some reason. So congratulations Luke, you earned yourself a place in this tag game.
Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce and B.J. Hunnicut (MASH) - I simply adore this series for several reasons but these two are clearly one of them. I love how they use jokes and pranks to make their lives in a war more bearable, their sharp and biting sarcasm, but how they still know when to be serious and show vulnerability, their humanity, which sometimes is hard to maintain in a war. The way they take care of themselves and their friends when they are about to break and shatter from what's happening all around them is very moving for me.
Alicia Gris and Juan Manuel Vargas (The Labyrinth of the Spirits) - not sure whether these two (who count as one by the way) really fit the term "comfort" character but at least they have lived rent free in my head ever since I read the book. Regarding all the pain and unhealed trauma they just ignore and never talk about the "comfort" part might not be fitting but I love them and their dynamic so incredibly much that they earned their spotlight here. (My fave BroTP/OTP... can't decide which is better (Both. Both is good))
Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Relations) - my video game husband. Do I need to add more? The Prince Charming is cute, funny and knows how to stab people. What else would you want??
Erend (Horizon Zero Dawn) - this might be my latest hyperfixation speaking but so what.. big, tough guy strong enough to swing a battle axe as if it were a toothpick who is actually kind of a cinnamon roll and a sweet dumbass trying his best? (He's a little confused, but he's got the spirit) Sign me up! Also a fan of whatever is going on with the hair and the beard.
This took and turned out way longer than I thought, so thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I guess.
As for the tagging: everyone who reads this and wants to do this as well, feel tagged. Apart from that, @book-full-of-dreams have fun.

OK I haven't seen the last of the sequel trilogy because TLJ made me so angry, but- there was always Force healing in Star Wars. Obi-Wan uses it on Luke to help him wake-up in the very first film. All of the Jedi have some level of healing ability, and are taught how to use it, it's just some Jedi are naturally more gifted at it than others. Those who are naturally more gifted at it are the ones who become healers. Did these so-called fans only watch the sequel trilogy? Both the prequel trilogy and the clone wars series show Jedi healers and examples of regular Jedi using healing techniques. Also, Anakin's lack of skill at healing techniques- one of his few weak areas in the Force- is a major plot point for his character. He wants more power so he can gain the ability to heal Padme (and later to heal himself), but he doesn't understand that healing isn't just about raw power, it's about natural talent. He wants ALL the powers, ALL the abilities...which just isn't possible. You know, just like in real life you can be a fantastic basketball player, but that doesn't mean you're a great doctor. The roles both involve great skill and personal strength, but they are very different roles.
What it sounds like the sequels F-d up, was that it gave Rey (and Kylo? don't know, didn't watch the last movie) unlimited force healing ability. Which is not how the Force works, but is what the hack writers wanted to use to cover up the gaping holes in their writing. The problem is they wanted to make Rey and Kylo, their faves that they created, the bestest best Force users ever....which is incredibly biased and annoying already, but then they did it by doing two things that drove actual fans of the lore batshit crazy- 1. they insulted and brought down the original heroes (particularly Luke, Han and the Jedi as a whole), 2. then they bent the rules of the lore to make their characters super powerful which led to creating enormous plot holes and logic failures. It also led to some really disturbing and hateful takes on the Jedi, a people whose near complete genocide is meant to be the great tragedy of the story.
I just saw this take in a collection of Star Wars videos I was watching and just…… what even:
where do people come up with stuff like this. Also I needn’t say it but this makes me so angry
This is what happens when fans try too hard to make something "make sense" in universe rather than accepting a meta/out-of-universe explanation for it.
So sure, if the ST introduces the idea that you can "Force heal" by learning it from some sort of Jedi text, it begs the question of why we never see any of the Prequels Jedi using it. Did they know about it and simply chose not to use it? Was it restricted to Jedi HEALERS for some reason? Did they NOT know about it because it was in a really obscure text that nobody even remembered anymore? And the ST chose not to answer any of those questions, which leaves the fans to try to come up with their own answers.
And the real answer is that the people who made the ST had no fucking idea what they were doing and quite honestly don't seem to have cared much about narrative continuity much at all. There's Force healing in the ST and not in any of the others because Force healing like what we see in the ST would kind-of ruin the entire POINT of the other stories. Luke could just... save Anakin. Anakin could just save Padme. Obi-Wan could just save Qui-Gon. Then where would the story be? Force healing is unsatisfying within the narratives we've been given and ruins the entire point of the message Lucas was sending with them.
But nobody who was making the Sequels fucking cared, so. Now we have Force healing from some random Jedi texts. Cool. Whatever. People who hate the Jedi are just going to hate the Jedi, they'll find whatever reason they want to do so, regardless of what the actual films show and regardless of what Lucas says. As someone who DOES like the Jedi, my explanation for why there's suddenly Force healing that can be learned from a text is that the people making the ST were fucking stupid and nobody realized or cared that it broke a lot of the narratives from the prior two trilogies and went against the themes of those films. That's it.

Syril is a fictional character. Plenty of people love Vader, even Palpatine and they are both worse. Preference in fictional characters says absolutely nothing about what people would support in real life.
Ah good I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently, so I guess it's time to cull the herd of weirdos who think fiction doesn't influence reality <3 if you don't agree with me, just try to hear me out but if you won't, just unfollow I have no patience for fascism apologia, fictional or otherwise.
When I say stan, I am talking about a fan that defends their fave no matter what. I'm not talking about someone who just finds a character interesting. I do have Opinions about people who watch Andor and find Karn to be the most interesting of the characters because there is a trend of white fans finding the white side character more interesting than leading characters who are racialized as non-white. But to be clear I think Syril Karn is a FASCINATING character. I do. He is a well-written and acted neo-nazi in the making. I'm not talking about people who think he's a compelling character. I'm talking about those who gravitate towards him over a main character who is coded as an immigrant and as indigenous and who, coincidentally, is also sort of written as having a redemption arc of sorts and who we literally see murder an ally in his first scene in Rogue One.
I was just thinking about Vader's fandom. Of course Vader and Palpatine are worse, they're the og Imperial baddies.
I don't know a lot of fans who think Palpatine is good or redeemable though. I know George Lucas had a Stupid Idea about some girlfriend scorning him and then that's why he goes evil... lol that's dumb and I hate it but thankfully that's not canon. There's not a whole lot of people making excuses for Palpatine, or begging for a redemption arc. Why? Because we understand that he is too far gone, that he has crossed a line that he will never come back from. He has no interest in redemption, he is a true believer in his sithy shit. That doesn't mean he isn't a good character or a great villain. He is, of course he is. He's iconic for a reason.
Anakin has a sob story and his stans are annoying tbh - he's got a horrifying background, he was enslaved and his trauma is never really dealt with properly. I have empathy for him. But he is also undeniably not someone people should stan - his views on politics are not great even when he's 19. and then despite all the good he does as a Jedi and the decency he has in his heart, he goes fash and kills a bunch of kids. Commits genocide and then enforces Palpatine's will for decades.
It's interesting that in the original trilogy we don't see him actually doing a whole lot of fascist shit - he holds Leia back from Tarkin as Tarkin commands Alderaan be destroyed, but he's more or less meh on the whole death star thing. He's a fascist because he's an Imperial, but he is focused primarily on Luke most of the trilogy. His arc is not so much about the Empire in the ot is about connecting with a past he thought he lost, connecting with Anakin Skywalker as well as Luke. A father's love for his son, that self-sacrificing love parents should have for their children. The redemption works because Anakin hates what he has become and recognizes that he was the reason he never got to have the family connection he wanted his whole life - he experiences self-awareness and growth, and that is what allows him to break free of the Emperor's control and save Luke - and ultimately save the galaxy. But Anakin's redemption is also only in Luke's eyes. To the rest of the galaxy Darth Vader is a war criminal. He would never be allowed to live in the New Republic. He would have to atone for his crimes. So Anakin has to die on the Death Star, he isn't allowed to just go join up with the Alliance and finish off the Imperial Remnant.
Darth Vader is less overtly in control of the Empire - even in ANH it's fairly obvious that he's not the top dog. It's like, Tarkin is a fabulous character but no one would want him redeemed LOL.
And of course there are people who have faves that are bad people. But I've seen this film before - the Kylo Ren stans come to mind most notably, but yes Anakin stans are weird too. In TFA Kylo Ren was not sympathetic - he had literal royalty for family and a privileged upbringing because of his parentage. He was a mess - violent, angry, cruel and a mess. He was actually a compelling villain at first because he was intended to be a villain - he wasn't some woobified romantic antihero bullshit that he became thanks to R*ylos, Rian Johnson and then ofc JJ Abrams. Kylo Ren was a metaphor for a neo-nazi, even if Disney shied away from precise politics in the sequels.
Redeeming him was ridiculous because the cause for him was the point, not the consequence like it was with Vader. Kylo Ren was a true believer who wanted to finish what Vader started - blah blah comics blah blah books I'm sorry, the movies showed us what they showed us and everything else was damage control to make him more sympathetic.
I don't care what Luke did in TLJ, I don't think it's in character for the guy who thought Vader had good in him, but let's say it's totally in character and makes sense and was wrong. Okay but trauma does not excuse genocide. Trauma does not excuse mass murder. This should be obvious - and of course since you can divorce fiction from reality, anon, I'm sure you wouldn't excuse Kylo Ren's actions.
There is no moment when Kylo Ren, whose whole thing IS the cause, seems to understand that he was wrong to believe in the cause of the Empire and the Dark Side, there is no real redemption. He just thinks Palpatine's granddaughter is hot ig and saves her.
I am not against redemption arcs. I love a good redemption arc WHEN IT WORKS. Zuko in ATLA works because he realizes that he is wrong, he condemns the system he supported as a child and actively works to repair the harms done by him and his ancestors. Vader's works because he kills the Emperor and dies after making amends with Luke (and only with Luke, which again is why Anakin's redemption is a personal one but not a political one).
So why is Anakin's redemption more believable than what someone like Karn's might be? Well for one, we have NO evidence that Karn is even capable of redemption. There is nothing in his actions that signifies a change of belief or conflicting feelings about ideology. He seems to understand that he is in over his head on Ferrix, but this is a man who shows instead all signs of DOUBLING DOWN. Even the ISB officer who shuts Pre-Mor down points out that Karn is PROUD. This is a man who lines up nicely with most of Umberto Eco's 14 characteristics of fascism, which I am planning on writing further about.
What is there to sympathize with? A mom who he has a complicated relationship with? So does Cassian. And yet, people are literally justifying Karn's belief in corporate rule because some cops fucked around and found out. They are writing the very copaganda that the show is actually trying to combat.
Not for nothing it doesn't escape me that the Star Wars fandom has a bit of a problem with fascism, and unfortunately I think that is due to a number of things:
poor media literacy
poor critical thinking skills
poor understanding of history
aesthetic over substance
It has real-world consequences. These people have harassed POC in star wars viciously. They have made fan spaces unsafe for marginalized people. I'm not saying that Karn fans are like the Geeks and Gamers level shit, because I doubt those idiots are even watching Andor.
Fiction impacts real life. I can list the studies that show Black children playing with white dolls and internalizing that Black people are uglier, or stories about how Law and Order: SVU literally has had victims of SA go to police and be re-traumatized when the cops did not support them. I will also never forget that American History X, which is explicitly ANTI FASCIST, has a massive neo-nazi fan base because the fascists look cool. They didn't get the memo because they didn't want to.
Of course it doesn't mean everyone who likes Karn is a neo-nazi, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of white fans of his who can see themselves more closely in Syril Karn than they can Cassian, and that is concerning given who he is and what he represents, and what he has NO evidence to suggest he ever WILL represent.
Anyway. Fuck Syril Karn stans.

Lol ahsoka stans are so annoying. just saw someone whining about how ahsoka said "master luke" just because she has more military experience/training/etc than him? that's not even the point. like why do they have a problem with her just using a honorary title for someone who already became a teacher at that point? it's not like luke turned around and disrespected her, he actually listened to her advice. even jedi masters call each other by the "master" title and ahsoka isn't supposed to be a jedi anymore, unless filoni decided to be wish washy about this again. that person's probably mad because characters aren't worshipping her the way filoni does, we'll probably get more of that in her show 🙄🙄 also I'm not a fan of luke's characterization in tbobf due to awkward writing, but it does feel like people nowadays come up with the most random ass reasons to hate the character. can star wars fandom please try using critical thinking skills more often? it shouldn't be too much to ask for.
Fandom in general needs to chill and use more critical thinking skills. (Staying far, far away from the LotR fandom right now myself.) Like it's a common honorific among the Jedi. Even Anakin, who famously wasn't a Master, was addressed as Master by the kid he was about to murder and possibly other times I can't think of off the top of my head. It honestly seems to be about the same as my students addressing me as Miss [my name], it's just a politeness/respect thing.
I try to be chill about people stanning characters I don't like, fandom is supposed to be about loving the characters and media you love, I know I can be annoying about my own faves, and I know how to use the block feature or just scroll by, but by god the Ahsoka stans can be so annoying. I wouldn't hate Ahsoka half as much if they and Filoni didn't have to shove her into EVERYTHING!! You can't take two steps in the prequel fandom without her being held up front and center, making Anakin and Obi-Wan focusing on her over everything (including each other, when their relationship is the core of the prequels) and shoving Padme aside. And she always has to be the Bestest at all times and anyone who denies it is Evil, look at how her stans talk about Mace Windu because he dared to address her as citizen (season 7 I think? I only know about this via dashboard osmosis) when, at the time, she was a citizen with no clearance for Jedi or military information.
And of course there was ZERO reason for her to be in BoBF. It was a pointless cameo and the conversation should have been between Din and Luke. Hell, I think it just showed Filoni wanted to shove her in just to have her, because he accidentally made her look worse by implying she didn't tell Luke the chainmail was a gift freely given since he uses it to force a choice out of Grogu. (Unless they later retcon that to be sure Precious Ahsoka is never actually wrong, Luke is the jerk, since he was already character assassinated in BoBF.)
I'm already emotionally preparing myself for Kenobi because I know, I KNOW we're going to get something that makes it All About Her, and how the REAL tragedy of Anakin's fall is that Ahsoka's Fee-Fees were hurt and Obi-Wan failed her too. With jack shit mentioned about Padme. Again. Because Filoni has done his best to successfully make her the third member of the Prequel Trio, instead of Padme, who should be.
I actually am not that worried about the Ahsoka show because I ain't watching it come hell or high water. Even if Din and Grogu appear, I'm giving YouTube or something the views, not Disney.

Okay I'm going to just be honest with you: Read the fucking legend books. Everything under the old canon. Here's why
First: Every single story is easily accessible and user friendly. Legends handled the massive catalog of its stories so well because every new copy of the book comes with a full complete timeline in the front pages. Literally every fucking book that is canon in Legends is put in a complete timeline to show you the reader where exactly this story is taking place (and it's even funnier when you realize they use New Hope as the before or after marker. Even tells you the years.) From the Old Republic and Revan to the retirement of our favorite heroes, it's all there. Anything beyond that i believe is comic turf and while I love the comics and there's loads of fun ones, it's very hard to know where to start or what's going on especially with Disney printing its own comics. And as far as I can tell all of them have audiobooks so if reading's not your thing there you go. Plus they're fairly cheap. Most of the books are like 7 or 8 bucks (Dollars). Yes The books spoil things in the beginning but only because you tell whose in the story, their species and their job. Helps with descriptions or you could even look up what you're supposed to be imagining.
Second: The genres you get are varied. While you obviously get the classic empire and rebel civil war conflict and there's a lot of jedi, dark side, sith etc etc there's also focus on other people and other conflicts. Like for example zombie stormtroopers. There's literally a like 400 page story about zombie stormtroopers on an abandon Star Destroyer. It's fun and epic and kinda scary. An Ocean's 11 styled heist with Han, Chewie and Lando before Empire Strikes back! One of my favorites is literally a in hiding jedi turned bodyguard for a fucking pop idol. Singer really but still. And there's so much more I haven't mentioned: The war with beings from another galaxy that's a few books series long, Obi-wan's first mission with Qui-gon Jinn, A second galactic civil that actuals pits Han and Luke on opposing sides. Mara Jade (Luke's wife, yes he's married and she's fucking amazing) first encounter with a still fledging jedi Luke. Freaking the Bounty Hunter civil war. And a lot of these you do not need to know about the entire collection to enjoy. These writings are written differently cuz of the different authors but that's only because...
Three: Lucas gatekept all this. No really. Basically you had to ask him what you can write about and he had to approve it because it would be canon. Different writers wrote different things with his permission cuz their stories would be set in stone. The writing varies and you get different millage but on a whole I enjoyed all the books. Anything by Timothy Zahn is highly recommended by me.
Four: Character and Characterization. Yes you will be missing some of your faves: No baby yoda or mando or Rey, Finn, poe. But the characters you get are awesome: Luke's son Ben, a deadly sith assassin who used to date Luke, a personal assassin who worked for the emperor who married Luke, Thrawn *stolen from legends btw* Jagged Fel, Han and Leia's children Anakin Solo and the twins Jania and Jacen. God Jacen. Jacen is the character they stole and watered down to make Kylo sucks. Literally Jacen is just the better, more complex tragic figure that Kylo WISHES he could even be half of. Oh Boba Fett is alive too! and has a granddaughter. And there's are a handful of characters among the dozens these books have. And the best part? The classic characters? Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie R2 and C3PO they're still the characters you know and love. They actually grow and evolve in ways that feel natural for them. None of this stupid han and leia are separated. They are still happily married and getting on each other's nerves in the best way possible. Luke isn't some disillusion edgy beaten down old man. He's a wise yet humorous mentor and leader who never lost that spark of hope and wonder though it certain has been tempered with loss that comes with a long, dangerous life. Honestly you cannot believe how much they stole from legends. it's a fair amount.
I honestly recommend the legends books. Yes they had decades more time to really flesh everything out and set up their novel universe but Disney is a billion dollar company with talented artists, storytellers and writers. They should've just let them cook instead giving us whatever the fuck those half assed movies were. Leia is a fucking jedi knight in legends, still married to Han and a total badass. Warning though Chewie dies during the galaxy v galaxy war. BUT it takes a whole moon to take him out and he's still in plenty of stories.
Star Wars suddenly making every idiot and their grandma jedi but can’t even make Finn a force user

A New Hope is a lot funnier when you realize that Darth Vader tells everyone he thinks Obi-Wan is there and everyone is probably thinking “I thought you got over this”

Tim Drake as a character is really funny because on the outside, he gives off this aura of always knowing what to do and what’s coming next and being able to predict his enemies next ten moves, but on the inside he has no idea what’s going on and is riding by the seat of his pants the whole time.
Like, he has the best poker face of any character ever. People look at him and think “Lucky I’m with Robin who knows what he’s doing :)” and Tim’s brain is playing staticky elevator music.

One of my fave things about Wei Ying is that when he fantasized about living with Lan Zhan, he imagined Lan Zhan staying home and mending clothes and cooking and cleaning and just generally waiting for Wei Ying to get back. Because Wei Ying imagined that he would go out and hunt or fish or farm. Wei Ying’s dirty fantasy was that Lan Zhan would live a domestic life with him where he provided food (at least ingredients).
It will never stop being funny that, in the WangXian dynamic, the man who is rumoured to have had sex with so many women as well as had virgins (for their blood? For the sex? For fun? Who knows? Have a virgin!) just hanging around, he fantasized about having a domestic life and farming and fishing. And the “Light Bearing Lord” who came from a respected family and is known as cold and standoffish and feared as much as he’s respected, he fantasized about sex eight times a day with his husband.
It’s hilarious! But, it is also terribly sad!
Wei Ying just wants a home. A place he can go where someone is waiting for him. A place that he can go to and the someone waiting for him is happy that he’s there. A place where he can relax and have fun and his idea of fun is fishing, hunting, and farming. A place where he’s allowed to just be himself, no pretending necessary, he can just exist and have someone exist by his side in harmony.
And then, while I’m thinking about this, I remember that my actual favourite thing from the book is when Wei Ying sits on Little Apple and has Lan Wangji pull the reins because he remembers his mom sitting while his dad pulled the reins. And he thinks about how great it would be if they had a kid so that the kid could sit on Lan Zhan’s shoulders like he sat on his dad’s shoulders. And he recreates this scene, this innocuous scene and it makes him so happy and Lan Zhan doesn’t even question for a milisecond why Wei Ying wants him to do this after he realizes that it makes Wei Ying happy.
They just… am love each other… so much… for so long… and they… they… they are they and that is wonderful…

Din Djarin and Luke Skywalker are both two men who get progressively scarier the more you watch them.
Like, Luke in A New Hope was baby af. He was a child. Even in the Empire Strikes Back, what a little guy. A tiny fellow.
Then boom, Return of the Jedi, and Luke is smiling and like “Tell these Ewoks that you are their God and that if they do not release us, you will be Angered…” He is in all black, he is missing a hand, he has gone off the rails conpletely. He’s like “How will I tell Leia that we’re siblings? …Oh! I know! Riddles!” Luke Skywalker gets struck by Force Lightning like nine times and still gets up and drags his dad’s lifeless body out. There were moments one might look at him and think, “no, ur wrong, he still babie” but you are the wrong one! He goes into Jabba’s Palace and straight up stands there smiling and threatening him the whole time. He’s standing on a plank over the Sarlacc and he’s still like “So this is how you’d like to play :)” Luke straight up snapped, he got spooky by the end of the og trilogy.
Din Djarin, straight off the back, is kind of intimidating. He is a man in full armour who hunts people and freezes them in carbonite and appears behind their shoulders when they least expect it. But, after Grogu shows up, you probably think “this man is weak to this baby, he will become soft” but no! The opposite happens!
I’m talking about episode 6. The Prisoner. I have wanted desperately to talk about this for days, but have only just found the words to do so. Let me explain.
Din Djarin is filmed and edited like a horror movie villain. Like a supernatural force of evil who stalks his prey. Straight up like a slasher villain out of the eighties. There’s hints of this beforehand, what with Din appearing behind a guy in the very first episode, and the fact that he has been shot point blank (many times) but no matter how many times he falls, he always gets back up. Okay, that’s all fine and good.
But episode 6 goes beyond that. He stalks a bunch if assholes through flickering red lights. He splits them up, he takes them out one by one, and the last person standing manages to get out, thinks they’ve escaped, only to die (technically) at Din’s hand anyway. He is straight up a horror movie villain I don’t know how else to explain it, he is a horror movie villain.
Don’t take this the wrong way. Being spooky and intimidating isn’t a bad thing, especially not in Star Wars! Luke Skywalker and his ability to say terrible things while smiling, Din Djarin and his predilection for appearing right behind someone, these ar egood things. I like these things a lot. I love these. I love that Luke is the cutest little scary fella in the galaxy. I love that Din is the most awkward little scary fella in the galaxy. I think it’s great.
Why do I bring this up?
Well, for one, I have been trying to word my view on Din Djarin for days now. I love this man, I have to mock him or I’ll feel incomplete. And I think it’s a disservice to pretend that Luke isn’t a person who most people in the Star Wars universe think about and shiver. Don’t get me wrong, I love sunshine boy Luke, but he isn’t really like that, at least not by this point in the series. He just strikes me as the type of person to say incredibly dark, deranged things with a blank face, then smile at cute kittens. Luke is messed up, and we should talk about it more because it’s very interesting to explore the various ways he’s messed up.
But for another, I am a big fan of Din and Luke being buddies who go absolutely anywhere and scare the shit out of people. A Mandalorian next to a Jedi Knight? Two people who eat Storm Troopers for breakfast?? Can you imagine how much the fragments of the Empire that are still left are quaking??? Those two would go absolutelu anywhere and the anyone on planet who ever sided with the Empire would give themselves up or run, immediately.
Like, Din singlehandedly took out that whole troop on Nevarro. All by himself, he shot out all of the Storm Troopers and everyone inside and I like to think there are whispered stories about him similar to the ones about the Boogeyman.
Now, I know Luke didn’t actually kill the Emperor and Darth Vader, but does anyone in universe know that? Or does everyone think that Luke not only blew up the Death Star, but he also murdered the two head honchos and came out completely unscathed? Luke is definitely a boogeyman.
I don’t know. Something about two terrifying men walking into a bar full of Imperials only to walk out five minutes later of a bar full of dead Imperials just really fills me with joy. Something about the mental image I have of Storm Troopers fearfully sharing increasingly terrifying stories about these two makes me happy. I like bad people being scared shitless, all right? Sue me.

My #1 post of 2022
I think Tim is the cryptid of the superhero community. Hear me out:
In Young Justice, it’s explicitly stated multiple times that Tim Drake’s Robin has never been caught on film. There are no pictures or videos. Even earlier on, in World’s Finest Three, Tim gets Superboy to take all of the credit for taking down Metallo and Poison Ivy (something even the reporters find hard to believe) because Tim can’t let anyone know it was Robin.
Furthermore in Young Justice, the ongoing conflict between Robin and his team is that they find it hard to trust him because he can’t reveal his identity to them. But more than that, he can’t reveal his identity to anyone, he isn’t supposed to let anyone know that Robin even exists. There are fake “files” on all of the characters and even the government doesn’t know who the f Robin is, and the file questions whether or not he actually exists.
Then, there’s the part of the comics where Tim is forced to give up Robin, and Steph replaces him for a bit, and literally nobody outside of Gotham knows. He didn’t tell his friends, Bruce didn’t tell anyone, nobody knows that Tim isn’t Robin anymore. And then, he comes back. Just as out of the blue.
In the Red Robin run, it’s canon that nobody knows where Tim is aside from Ra’s al Ghul (who stalked him from the start and so shouldn’t count). Oracle doesn’t know where he is, none of his friends know (two of them are “dead,” so it’d be hard for them to know), everyone who runs into him is like “??? who tf???” Even Dick only has a vague idea. The whole point of Tam’s side plot is that it is nigh impossible to find Tim unless he decides to collapse onto your hotel room’s bed while bleeding out next to an assassin. As one does.
What does this mean?
It means that some superheroes definitely don’t believe that Tim exists, probably the younger ones. Superman or someone is like “Man, I miss the Robin that didn’t threaten me with swords,” and they’re like “Dick?” “No.” “Jason?” “No.” “??? The girl one?” “No.”
Like, some people have definitely never seen/heard of this weird third Robin, and they definitely think it’s something the older heroes are making up to mess with them. On conspiracy boards in Gotham, some people tell tale of the third Robin, the one that came before the Stabby Robin, and other people are like “You’re making this up! This guy doesn’t exist!”
I bet Duke is occasionally like “Hey, I haven’t seen Tim in like three weeks, is he still alive?” And someone else (Dick or Bruce) is just like “What are you talking about? Tim’s been sitting over in that corner.” And Duke just sees Tim unmoving in a corner, and is like “…that doesn’t answer the question, is he still alive?”
Tim is canonically, in the comics, the best at remaining unseen. He’s a cryptid. Kon and Bart tell horror stories about him and have blurry photos (taken blurrily on purpose in the same vein as Big Foot) that they show younger heroes. Jason occasionally regales his goons with stories of a creepy stalker child who fights crime. Dick tells his coworkers about his brothers but they don’t believe Tim exists because everytime they ask for a photo of him, Dick just shrugs and says he’s a bit camera shy. Damian complains about his brothers and all of his classmates are kind of worried he made up Tim, because he’s never come (it’s funny to imagine Jason and Dick and Bruce all coming to pick up Damian from school. It’s funnier to imagine that even Cass has picked him up). Several workers at Wayne Enterprises think that “Tim Drake-Wayne” is just a made up entity to keep the company out of enemy hands.
Tim is a cryptid, thanks for coming to my TED Talk

Hey man.
I've gone through your tumblr and I can say without the shadow of a doubt that you are not a fan of these movies.
And that's fine, I'm not here to try to argue about what you like and hate for whatever reason,
but what makes you assume people who love these movies hate the Skywalkers?
I mean Shimi gave birth to Anakin who was an incredibly powerful force user out of the goddamn blue so The Cosmic Force just picking people out at random is kinda... a thing in canon.
It's happened before.
Nothing about The Cosmic Force being able to pick force users out at random devalues the Skywalkers and their legacy.
More than one powerful force user can exist at one time and we could argue that Rey is actually also a descendant of a powerful force user so really even her powers ain't random.
She is...
gags
A Palpatine.
But even before that questionable character change decision Rey being a nobody is actually a really fun counter to Ben being just... every kind of Skywalker.
What if This Luke Skywalker isn't for you?
You have a whole bunch of Luke Skywalker to enjoy! The OT Skywalker is still a thing and since Disney has a legion of CGI slaves that don't have to pay union dues to and a IP to beat like a dead horse they can slap that AI monstrosity on top of the literal clone of Mark Hamill
Please Disney just let this man play young Luke Skywalker for the love of all that is holy
for decades to come, long after real Mark is dead because a star dying ain't stopped Disney in the past!
Luke shows up in The Mandolorian all shiny and perf just like you remember him and always will if you never reflect backwards on why you thought he was so perf as a child.
You don't have to be hostile to a whole section of your own fandom for enjoying something you're not super jazzed about.
I know it feels really paradoxical to have someone tell you that a Star Wars with Luke Skywalker in it isn't for you but consider;
You have not enjoyed any of the new movies with him in them.
Maybe you are not actually a fan of these new star wars movies?
And that's fine I'm not saying you're not a fan of Star Wars you obviously really enjoy quite a huge part of it but maybe
maybe
this part isn't the part for you?
Listen.
I Fucking Love These Fucking Movies.
Well... Setting aside tros which ain't really my fave, I find the first two movies to be incredibly respectful to the skywalkers and their legacy.
I know so much dumb little facts about all these movies it's kinda hard to watch them with me because I will spend the entire time pointing them all out.
I know you feel really betrayed by how TLJ handled Luke.
I understand why you're mad
but
I can not stress to you enough how much the people who love this movie Do Not Feel That Way.
I hate this man more and more as the years go on and people like you are kinda the reason why if I'm honest.
I'm sorry Mark. I know it's not your fault. You ain't the reason I hate you it's mostly your fans who have made enjoying TLJ a complete fucking nightmare. Like ol' Jesus, love you but hate your fucking fans
But Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi Is perfect.
He IS the best boy.
He dies old and with peace knowing he's doing everything he can to save the people he loves.
Everyone he loves.
Even the ones we think are lost.
Luke knows Ben can still be saved. He's not the one to do it, but there are people alive And dead who can still save him.
(fun fact Ben would regularly play with these Dice. Han's Dice.
It's the last thing Ben holds in his hands at the end of this movie.)
Because That's Who Luke Skywalker Is.
He faces down the entire First Order By Himself With only a motherfucking laser sword.
And he does it
Without.
Killing.
Anyone.
Now that's a fucking Jedi.
I know you're really mad at this movie because You Think Luke wasn't portrayed very well.
But please, take a few moments to put aside this five year hate streak and let me, someone who is a fan who loves these movies and these characters just so much, explain to you how much everyone who loves this movie Does Not Feel That Way At All.
You don't have to like it. But you need to learn to leave alone the people who do.
‘‘The fans wanted this’‘
Show me which fans that wanted all of the Skywalker’s dead and a Palpatine still living right now
