bro im am: in love with literally everything you put out and i've had this probably really specific, self-indulgent request and am highkey scared it'll flop because not much can relate but it's been living in my mind rent free: remember that one episode where hinata talks to a classmate, saying how it'd be cool to have a band cheer for the vball team?? Well, it gave me an idea, so how about boys of your choice with a musically adept s/o?? she's part of the school band which frequently performs in tournament matches to cheer. her talent made her pretty well-known, though fame can attract both good and bad peopleâwhat happens when a guy from the opposing team gets a little too friendly? headcanons or scenarios is also up to you, and feel free to make s/o a crush instead (they aren't dating yet) if that makes the writing process more flexible! thank you so much, and have a lovely day/night!
 VolleyBoys with a Crush on Singer S/O
~ when you come and perform at one of their games in order to give school spirit, youâre approached by someone from another team because of your talent, leaving some less than happy boys
format: scenarios
genre: fluff
- includes: Suna, Semi, and MatsukawaÂ
Warning(s): slight cursing, possessive volleyboysÂ
Playing with some characters Iâve never really wrote for before, let me know how I do!Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Suna (main vocals)
âYouâre staring.âÂ
âGo give your attention to someone who cares.â Sunaâs lazy tone was a bit more snipped than usual as the cheers from the crowd finally died down, irritation evident in his tone as Atsumu smirks. The dark-haired blocker could pretend to be as uncaring as he wanted, but his tone gave him away.Â
âMad Y/Nâs getting all the attention?âÂ
âNah, heâs pissed because he canât hog her all to himself anymore.âÂ
Suna rolled his eyes, Osamu merely shrugging alongside his brother as the three towel off in the middle of a break point for Inarizakiâs school band to make their performance. He hated that he loved seeing you up there, a light sheen of sweat on your forehead from the performance, your hair tied back with a wide smile on your face-Â
he hated seeing everyone see you.Â
âYeah, so howâs that going for you? How are you two not dating yet-âÂ
âKita-san, I think Atsumu and Osamu have questions about the play.â Suna cupped his mouth as the twins stiffen. The dark haired spiker waved mockingly goodbye as his teammates were snatched by the collars, focusing his attention to what he had orginally been quietly watching. He tilted his head as you struggled to open the top of your water bottle, peering at it with a pout before he scoffs, beginning to walk-Â
âNeed help, sweetheart?âÂ
Suna stopped.Â
You blinked, eyes widening as Kuroo Tetsurou easily twisted the cap off, handing it back to you with a naturally sly grin. He reaches a hand to the back of his neck as you smile in thanks, tilting the water back.Â
âSo the kitty can sing?âÂ
âKitty?!â You choked on your water, noting his school colors before flushing. Why on earth was the Nekoma team captain flirting with the lead singer of the school band for Inarizaki?Â
âIâm guessing you liked that.â Kuroo chuckles, patting your back in a more-than-friendly manner as you continue to cough, and your bandmates whistle, pretending not to notice the attractive captainâs advances.Â
âUntrue. Donât you have a game to play or something?â Thereâs no malicious intent behind your words, so Kurooâs grin turns into a soft smirk as he begins to lean a little closer-Â
âGross. Youâre all sweaty.âÂ
A towel is pressed to your face, Suna unfazed as you complain against the material. You feel the back of your head touch his chest as Suna pulls you into him with the towel pressed on your face, sharp eyes narrowing ever so slightly as Kurooâs feral ones remain amused.Â
âLooks like this kitten is domesticated.âÂ
You break free for a second, popping out of the towel successfully. âIâm not a kitten!âÂ
âSure, kitten.â Kuroo winks at you again, beginning to walk off before sparing a glance to Suna, nodding once in amusement. You remain distracted, spinning on your heel to face your friend in embarrassment and confusion.Â
âWhy would you-?!âÂ
âHey.â Suna tilts his head, dull eyes staring into yours as you find it a little harder to swallow.Â
âWhat?âÂ
He bends down to your height, flicking the tip of your nose as you begin to protest-Â
âGood performance. Come meet me after I rock this catâs ass in this match, yeah?â His palm is warm on top of your head as you find yourself nodding stupidly as he brushes past you to a smiley Atsumu, sharp eyes searching for Kuroo Tetsurou.Â
âSo howâs it going?âÂ
âGo to hell, Atsumu.âÂ
âIs he blushing, Osamu?âÂ
âYep.âÂ
Semi (Guitarist)
âOut of your league.â
âI literally havenât said anything.â Semi shoots back at the redhead, and Tendou grins as he also watches your jogging-away figure as you head back for the stage. A scarlet bandana was now tied around your wrist, Semiâs eyes darting everywhere as Tendouâs grin turns sinister.Â
âOh? Y/N-chan, will you wear my bandana so I can brand you? Iâm begging-!âÂ
âDo you want to punch him or should I?â Semi snips, and Goshiki slowly stops Shirabu from raising his hand as Ushijima props one eye open at the situation from his concentration.Â
âWhyâd you give it to her then?â Taichi asks, genuinely interested as you bop your head to the final song atop the stage, fingering the strings of your guitar with a small smile at your new goodluck charm.Â
âAre you kidding me? Those two are always joined at the hip, I knew one of them was in love with the other.â Shibraru doesnât miss a beat as Ojiro chuckles, having noticed that as well. Semi scoffs over the music, as if that were the craziest thing in the world.Â
âY/N L/N? As if.âÂ
âHave fun convincing yourself.â Ushijima closes his eyes again just as the song ends, and Semiâs cheeks begin to flare up as he grabs his hair in frustration, an annoying pounding in his chest.Â
âWell, donât take too long now.â Tendou sings, looking at an entertaining sight. âIf you donât want Y/N, do you think the pretty boy from Fukurodani wants her?âÂ
Semi stalls, thinking Tendou was playing another one of his mind games before looking as well, mouth drying at the sight.Â
Akaashi Keiji had offered you a hand as you propped your guitar, making your way off the stage easier as you had seemed worried about getting down before.Â
The setterâs throat tightened as you accepted, a smile tickling your cheeks as Akaashi helps you off the stage in a gentlemanly manner. You stumble slightly, giggling as Akaashi fondly steadies you by the waist, complimenting you on your performance.Â
âI could never do that, L/N-san. Youâre very talented.âÂ
âItâs really nothing...âÂ
Semi felt it then. Too used to watching from so far away, yet always close enough to keep you in view.Â
But you stood close to him. Mere minutes before, excited gleam in your eye as he tied the bandana around your wrist, and you had locked eyes with him. It was only for a few moments, calloused fingers almost inching towards his-Â
âY/N. I give you this crap and you donât even use it?â Semi was annoyed, dark eyes flaring as he bounds over to the two of you as you blink in confusion, his teammates watching the spectacle with slight interest. You flush as Semiâs eyes harden in the direction of Akaashi, whoâs head tilts slightly.Â
âWhat-?âÂ
âShut it. Iâll do it if you wonât, whyâd you even ask?â Semi clicks his tongue as he unties the bandana, pooling your hair into a makeshift knot before barely glancing at the blue-eyed setter, focusing his attention on your hair as he stakes his claim.Â
âSomething you needed with our band captain?âÂ
âNope. Just glad to have been of some aid. Then...â He nodded to you, but Semi could see the slight disappointment in his eyes underneath the cool atmosphere Akaashi held up as he walked onto the opposite side of the court.Â
â...Sorry Semi.âÂ
âFor what?â Semi questioned, feeling the embarassment beginning to creep up on him, heat tickling his cheeks as he watches you shuffle a bit from the proximity. He felt you shiver once his fingers accidentally grazed the back of his neck, causing Semiâs voice to get caught in his throat.Â
âNot using your bandana correctly...â You mumbled, the tips of your ears turning pink as Semi watches in bewilderment. A lilt tickled the edge of his lips as he finished tying the scarlet material, leaning down from behind you so his forehead touched your shoulder as if he were exhausted. You tensed up before relaxing, enjoying his touch.Â
âDonât worry about it.âÂ
Matsukawa (drummer)Â
âHow far do you think I can go to piss off your little fanboys?â
âWhy are you even over here?âÂ
âMoral support, princess.â Matsukawa grinned into his water bottle as you half-heartedly help him wipe the sweat gathered at his neck, your friend flicking off Hanamaki and Oikawa in the distance as they make romantic gestures with their hands as they go unnoticed by you.Â
âYou look like youâre dead tired and itâs only halfway through the game.â You note, handing him back the towel as Matsukawa grins, leaning a little closer to you from his spot next to you on the edge of the stage.Â
âCareful, you might make me think you care about me.â
âOf course I do.â You donât miss a beat, already distracted with slipping your drumsticks out of your pocket. Matsukawaâs jaw slackens a little as you get up, nudging him with your foot to get off before shooting him an easy smile.Â
âWeâre friends, arenât we? Even though youâre kind of an asshole.âÂ
The brunette recovers quickly, Matsukawa smirking as he slips off the stage as you settle back into your drumset.Â
âYou love me, princess.âÂ
âYeah yeah, go swat a volleyball around.â Your tone is teasing as your bandmates begin to fall back into place, and Matsukawa mockingly salutes you before walking back to his team, ignoring the involuntary replaying of your words in his head.Â
Of course I do.
He was oddly quiet as Hanamaki teased him, watching as your band fell into a beautiful rhythm led by your hands. Agitation grew in his stomach as it mixed with his stupid crush on you, wanting nothing more than to let all your little fans to become severely disappointed because of him.Â
Matsukawa Issei was a very possessive man, but it was an underlying kind of possessive. The kind of posessive where he silently protected you from those who were attracted by your talent and style, or the kindness in your smile or witty comebacks-Â
âUh, Matsukawa?âÂ
âI donât give a fuck if you think youâre going to be the best man at mine and Y/Nâs nonexistent wedding-âÂ
âNo.â Hanamaki grinned, jutting his head in your direction. Matsukawa didnât even realize the song had ended, watching as Atsumu Miya had picked up your hand, bringing it up to his lips flirtatiously as you stared wide-eyed as if you had busted a fuse.Â
âYep. My bad, there will be no wedding.â Hanamaki clasps his shoulder, not realizing the impact of his teasing words. âBecause Atsumu Miyaâs gonna get her first if you donât step up your game, bro.âÂ
But Matsukawa didnât reply with some witty comeback, still watching as Atsumu brushed a strand of hair behind your ear. He didnât like it. The embarrassed look on your face, the awkward smile on your lips, the laugh in your throat- all caused by someone who wasnât him.Â
âHow about ya show me how to play those drums sometimes?â Atsumu had taken a step closer, and your fists had clenched as you felt yourself at a loss for words. You had opened your mouth to reply, but all that slipped out was a yelp.
Matsukawa easily threw you over his shoulder, grinning relaxedly at Atsumu whoâs flirtatious grin had digressed back to a flat line. You knocked on Matsukawaâs back with embarrassment in your stomach, but the brunette made no move to put you down.Â
âSorry, Iâm her agent. Sheâs gotta go meet with her fans.âÂ
âIssei!âÂ
He ignored your chants to put you down as Oikawa and Hanamaki slowly clap as he brushes past them and out the gym doors, a pounding in his ears.Â
âWhy are you doing this?â You question, now in an empty hallway as you hear Matsukawa scoff, still not answering your question as he continues to walk with you slung over his shoulder.Â
âIssei.âÂ
âI told you I wanted to piss of your fanboys, didnât I?âÂ
âTell me the truth!â You raised your voice just as he put you down, and Matsukawa looks at you for a second, your back hitting the wall as he towers over you.Â
âWhat?â Your voice was smaller now, feeling like youâve shrunk under your friendâs serious gaze that was usually anything but. Matsukawaâs hand touches the area above your head, leaning into you so your noses are barely brushing.Â
âTell me, princess. Do you still want the truth even if it ruins our friendship?âÂ
~ ~ ~
 In a lively city to the east of Yorknew, the late morning sun shined down brightly upon the occupants below. People of all shapes and sizes bustled about, seemingly always in a rush to reach their next destination. So much commotion made the world appear to pass time in a blur. All except for three individuals casually sitting at a table just outside a little cafÊ.
 However, these individuals were no ordinary people. They were, infact, members of the ever feared and notorious Phantom Troupe. Considered to be A rank bounties for those that dared to seek them out. A fact hard to believe for those that happened to glance their way. For at that moment, they appeared to be just as normal and average as everyone else.
 Shalnark was smiling and busily tapped away at his phone, occasionally taking bites out of his chocolate chip bagel with raspberry cream cheese. Having already finished her egg and bacon croissant sandwich, Pakunoda sat with her eyes closed and hands lightly wrapped around her coffee cup. The liquid inside was solid black; unlike Shalnarkâs, which had turned a faded tan thanks to all the cream and sugar.
 Lastly, Chrollo Lucilfer, head of the spiders, was relaxed back in his chair with legs comfortably crossed one over the other. The latest book to catch his interest in one hand, a cup of earl grey tea in the other.Â
 To any passerby, the three merely looked like a trio of friends enjoying one anotherâs company for a late breakfast. In all fairness, anyone assuming as such would not have been too far off the mark.Â
 Shalnark popped the last bite of his bagel into his mouth and chewed contentedly. He then glanced down at the table and realized Chrollo had only taken a few bites out of his everything bagel with plain cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers.
 âYou really should eat the rest of your breakfast, boss,â he remarked kindly, âNever know when weâre going to be able to have another relaxing meal like this. Not with the days we have planned ahead.â
 âAnd you really shouldnât talk with your mouth full, Shal,â Pakunoda scolded, only opening her eyes part way to look in her compatriotâs direction.
 Shalnark smiled awkwardly and swallowed what was left in his mouth.
 âOh, sorry about that,â he laughed lightly.
 Having heard the conversation, Chrollo took a deep breath as surfaced from the depths of the novel in hand. He looked down at his unfinished meal with an unreadable expression.
 âMmm,â he hummed, âI suppose I just donât have much of an appetite this morning.â
 A sudden loud âmeowâ from below the table level caught Chrolloâs attention. He looked down and saw a large, orange tabby cat looking back at him.Â
 âHello there,â his voice was kind. He smiled down at the feline. It then rubbed itâs body against his leg, looked up at him and meowed again. Chrollo chuckled.
 âAre you hungry? Perhaps you have more of an appetite than I do.â
 He brushed the capers off his smoked salmon and picked it up off the bagel with his fingers. He then handed it down to the tabby who took it hungrily.
 âThat was kind of you,â came a familiar voice. Chrollo looked up to see the lady that had been waiting on them.Â
 âWould any of you like anything else? Or any refills?â the waitress offered.
 âNo, we should be heading out soon, thank you. Could I have the bill, please?â
 âOf course.â The waitress ripped their ticket from the pad of paper and placed it face down on the table. âTake your time, no rush.âÂ
 As Chrollo pulled out his wallet, the tabby cat, who had finished itâs small meal, meowed at the man who had fed it; it wanted more.
 He looked at the feline once more and only offered a small smile, âSorry my little friend, but I have nothing more for you.â
 Now, one may think itâs strange that this man, who was the head of a band of thieves, would actually pay for his and his friendsâ meal. Truth was, Chrollo had a soft spot for little mom and pop shops like this cafe. They often struggled to make ends meet while big hot shot corporations had it easy; often stealing customers from businesses like these.
 The spider boss left the money for the bill, plus a generous sum for the kind and attractive waitress.Â
 And then, one of the craziest things Chrollo had ever experienced happened to him. The orange tabby that had still been begging for more food jumped up onto Chrolloâs lap, snagged his wallet out of his hands, then took off at a dead run.
 Stunned, Chrollo jumped to his feet and spun around, frantically searching for the cat burglar.
 âBoss?â Pakunoda questioned, she and Shalnark had not seen what happened. Just then, Chrollo spotted a furry flash of orange off in the distance down the busy street.  âQuick! Catch that cat, it stole my wallet!â he shouted as he took off after the feline.
 âW-wait, what?â Shalnark questioned, confused. He looked over at Pakunoda who now stood, looking after their boss in confusion. She exchanged looks with her comrade and the two of them booked it after Chrollo.
 âWhy would a cat steal a wallet?â Shalnark pondered aloud, âDo you think itâs being controlled by another manipulator?â
 âPossibly,â Pakunoda answered, âThat or itâs because the bossâs wallet smelled like salmon sincehe touched his wallet with the same hand he touched the fish.â
 Shalnark thought this over, and laughed.
Thank you all so much once again for participating. I now plan to either return to writing my fanfic story for Hunter x Hunter (Bubblegum Blood) or maybe I will write some lemons for Chrollo and Illumi. Especially since I already wrote one for Hisoka, lol. Take care everyone!Â
Paper Rings
Summary: A Luke x reader shot inspired by Paper Rings by Taylor Swift (Requested)
Word Count: 1894
Warnings: Swearing
âDo you want a drink?â she heard Luke call from the kitchen of their shared apartment and she agreed. It was the first time in a while that she had got to share with her boyfriend without either of them having to rush off for other commitments as she had been busy at work and he had been busy with the band getting ready for their sold out performance at the Orpheum. He came in not long after handing her a glass of wine as he settled beside her on the couch with a bottle in hand.
âSo howâs rehearsals going?â she asks him and he groans, shaking his head at her.
âNo talking about work remember tonight is just for the two of usâ he reminds her and she playfully rolls her eyes at him, yes they had agreed that but she genuinely wanted to know itâs a big deal for them to play the Orpheum as it could lead to them getting signed and living out their dreams.
âFine so what do you want to talk about?â she ask taking a sip from her glass, watching him as he thinks for a second before replying,
âDo you remember the first night we met?â he asks, making her chuckle.
Of course she did, how could she forget but she decides to tease him anyway, âYou feeling sentimental Pattersonâ she says tilting her head as a smirk inches its way onto her face and he rolls his eyes at her.
---
âY/n come on weâre heading to homeâ she heard her best friend call as she raced to catch up with her but ended up colliding with something or should she say somebody. She pulls back mumbling her apologies but stops short when she locks eyes with the boy in front of her, heâs looking down at her with concern and she feels his eyes trailing over her as if checking to make sure sheâs okay. She watches as his mouth opens and then closes as if heâs about to say something when heâs cut off by a group of giggling boys coming up behind him.Â
âLuke whatâs take-'' the giggling dark haired boy stops short when he sees her âWell hello there, Iâm Reggie'' he says with a wink.
âDudeâ the boy, Luke, she corrects herself, nudges him in the ribs for flirting, looking at him in disbelief.
âWhat, come on weâre supposed to be celebratingâ Reggie says tugging at his friend's arm and heading over toward the other two boys of their group but not before leaving her with a wink. Luke looks back at them before looking at her but she shakes her head at him, pushing away from him and heading over to her friend who watched the whole scene play out.
âHeâs cuteâ she comments, making y/n scoff as she allows herself to be pulled away.
---
She may have acted like she wasnât interested that night but truth be told when she had gotten home she had tried searching him on social media, not that sheâd ever tell him that, but it wasnât as if sheâd had much luck as all she had to go on was his name and the city they met. Turns out Luke was a pretty popular name bringing up hundreds of results and sheâd given up after that, although she had seen him often when she was out sheâd never really acknowledged his advances of trying to get her attention until a couple of months later when sheâd ended up going to a show where, unknown to her, his band was playing. Heâd somehow managed to find her after the show and then that was that, theyâd swapped numbers and ended up getting pretty close.
âWell do you?â his voice brings her focus back to him. She realises that sheâs been quiet for a while and that heâs been waiting for an answer.
âYeah, you know I thought the guys were on something that night between the giggling and Reggieâs flirtingâ she laughs and Luke joins in.
âWell thatâs just Reggie,â he says between laughs âand we love him for itâÂ
âThat we doâ she agrees, âAlthough it wasnât until we all went camping for the first time that I realised that you were the craziest one of the four of youâ she teases.Â
âPlease, Bobbyâs done a lot more weird shit than I haveâ he scoffed at her accusation.
âTrue but he wasnât the one that decided we should go skinny dipping in the lakeâ she points out, watching the look on Lukeâs face as he remembered that night.
---
It was towards the end of summer vacation theyâd all decided to go camping in the wooded area up near Bobbyâs house, theyâd set up their tents by the lake that ran through it and had just managed to get a small campfire going just as night was beginning to fall. That was when Reggie had suggested they play truth or dare and as Alex had been the only one to object that is how they ended up playing. It had started off pretty tame, they had gotten Alex to admit to his crush on a certain skater boy that also happened to be his lab partner, Bobby was dared to prank call the first person on his contact list but they had to change it as Alex was first in his contacts and Luke had been dared to see how many marshmallows he could fit into his mouth but he had only got to five before Reggie had made him laugh so hard that he almost ended up choking on them.
âOkay y/n, truth or dareâ Luke asked after he recovered,
âDareâ she replied and already regretted it when she saw the mischievous look cross his face.
âI dare you to go skinny dip in the lakeâ he smirked leaning forward to watch her reaction, chuckling to himself when he saw her jaw drop but she recovered quickly.
âOkayâ she agreed, never one to back down from a challenge âbut you gotta do it as wellâ she smirked, knowing Luke was just like her and that he never backed down from a challenge either. In response he stood up, pulling off his shirt as he did and they were soon followed by his jeans and underwear making y/n hide her face in her hands as a blush crept up her face. She heard Alex, Reggie and Bobby laugh at her reaction but she did not expect him to just strip down in front of them. She waited until Luke was in the water before she lifted her head from her hands and made her way over to the water's edge, making sure that the boys were all turned away from her she began to strip down herself and followed Lukeâs lead getting into the water.Â
âFuckâ she gasped as her body made connection with the water, sure it was a warm night but the water was freezing. When she was fully submerged with only her head and shoulders visible, she called out to the boys to let them know they could look. She was carefully trying to make her way over to Luke when her foot got caught on a rock and she tripped, throwing her arms out to brace herself when she felt them come into contact with something warm followed by hands holding onto her arms steadying her. When she had regained her footing she looked up to find Luke looking down at her the same look of concern on his face as the night they first met.
âHiâ she laughed, thinking about how ridiculous the situation was.
âHi yourselfâ he replied with a cheeky smile, making no move to let go or pull away from her instead doing the opposite and moving closer to her which quietened her giggles as she was still conscious of the fact that they were both still naked and that the boys were watching them. She was about to ask him what he was doing when he interrupted her.
âCan I kiss you?â he asked quietly and she nodded in response, closing her eyes as he leaned in. She felt his breath ghost over her lips before he closed the distance pressing his lips against hers and kissing her softly. Biting her lip as they pulled away from each other she shivered, the cold of the water now beginning to chill her.
âWe should probably get outâ she mumbled and Luke nodded, making his way to the waterâs edge and climbing out, quickly pulling his clothes back on not caring that he was still wet, he grabbed a blanket before coming back to the water. He held the blanket up and looked away as she climbed out, only turning back to face her when she was wrapped up, she thanked him quickly before heading into her tent to put her clothes back on.
---
âOkay I see your point but If I hadn't suggested that then it would have taken us even longer to get together and we wouldnât be where we are nowâ he defends.
âI still think we would have got to thisâ she says gesturing between them âbut everything happens for a reason all the heartbreak of past relationships, arguments and yes even your crazy ideas have led us to this moment right hereâ she smiles at him.
âAnd I thought I was being the sentimental one tonightâ he teases, wrapping his arm around her to pull her into his side and using his other hand to lift her chin up so that sheâs looking at him.
âShut up and kiss me, Pattersonâ she mumbles already leaning into his touch, Luke obliges moving his head down and capturing her lips with his own. Y/n lets her hands slide up his chest and tangle into his hair as she turns her body so that sheâs facing him, her legs on top of his as he deepens the kiss. Lukeâs the first to pull away from the kiss and he rests his forehead against hers as they catch their breath.
âI want to do this foreverâ she says breathily.
âSo letâs do it,â he says, reaching for her hands and she pulls away to look him in the eyes unsure of where heâs going with this âmarry me y/nâ
"You're serious, you're really asking me to marry you" y/n asks her disbelief written across her face.Â
"Of course I am" he says letting go of one of her hands to reach up and cup her cheek "unless you want me to buy a huge ring, plan an over the top proposal and do the whole down on one knee thing because I can do that too" he smilesÂ
"While that would be nice, I don't need a fancy gesture or a flashy ring, it could be made of paper and I'd still say yes because there is only one thing I need and that's you" she says, her gaze locked onto his and a wide smile on her face.Â
"So is that a yes?" He asks, not because he's uncertain of her answer but because he wants to hear her say it.Â
"Yes Luke, I'll marry you" she giggles, sighing happily as he pulls her in for another kiss.
Hold Them Closer ~ Ch.3 [Jaskier x assassin!reader] || Witcher
A/N: this chapter is pretty much all fluff but I think it is well deserved ;)
Summary: An âatmosphere of loveâ has many facets.
Warnings: language, fluff fluff FLUFF!!, maybe mentions of death/killing? literally thats it lol
Words: 2,395
Please Donât Plagiarize My Work!
The euphoria you felt afterâŚthe kiss â it was electrifying. It coursed through your veins all night as the two of you were in the bed you previously thought would be an issue, but now were silently thanking the inn owner for. You and Jaskier spent the rest of the night just laying there, shifting in and out of sleep, every so often giving the other a lingering touch on their face or hands or arms. It was the best sleep you had in a long, long time.
But of course, this euphoria couldnât last.
As soon as you woke up the next day, you were determined. As exhilarated as you were from your kiss with Jaskier, your mind was occupied with another focus: your mother. After months of not having a real mission, or target, a familiar feeling coursed over you that you didnât quite realize you missed: you felt like you had a purpose again, and this time it felt even more powerful because it was a purpose you gave yourself.
That didnât mean it was easy. Weeks seemed to go by in a flash â weeks of you going page by page through Raufâs old journals and notes. At every new entry you were practically fighting the urge to rip the pages to shreds, or burn them, or hang them and use them as target practice. It was safe to say your memories of Rauf were tainted by his last moments, and even though you had nightmares every now and again, nothing could beat the disdain you had for the man.
The research was torture. Complete and utter torture.
But, even as you struggled to search for any sign of your motherâs whereabouts, Jaskier was always there to distract you when you needed it. And distractions were something you needed a lot.
A distraction could come in many different facets. Training, drinks in the tavern, a walk in the woods. But it could also be slightly moreâŚstraightforward.
If you got too frustrated with Raufâs words hanging in your mind, youâd get up from your seat and rush over to Jaskier, who was usually practicing his lute. Heâd move it out of the way in time for you to practically jump him; youâd let him grab your waist as you sat in his lap, not bothering to explain as you shared a heated kiss. You two would move to the rhythm you had come to find, all before you removed yourself from him like nothing ever happened. By now, he was used to it â and neither of you were complaining. Again, it was one of the many perks to having him around while you were doing your research.
But even small breaks like that couldnât keep you sane for long. And Jaskier knew that âwhich is why he so giddily told you of a wedding banquet performance he landed.
It was no surprise that he got the job â youâd seen how easy it was for him to perform, and his talent was something you had grown to admire. But the surprise came in the suggestion after his good news.
Jaskierâs lips straightened into a thin line before he grimaced, already knowing the words he would speak could be the death of him.
âI need a date.â
You straightened in your spot, nearly disregarding the pile of papers in your lap. âHuh?â
âFor the wedding banquet? The illustrious performance? I need a date. A plus one, if you will.â
You deepened your frown. You, at a wedding? The only time you were close to a wedding was when you had a target who was an invite, and even then, youâŚeliminated him as he drunkenly stumbled just outside the banquet premises.
Now, you certainly wouldnât let Jaskier go alone to a banquet, especially one with such a gathering. The two of you still werenât sure if he was completely safe after your guild was destroyed, so even seemingly safe places were a risk. But for you to actually be present inside the party rather than lingering on the outside? That wasnât something you were ready to be apart of.
You shook your head at the bard whose bottom lip stuck out in a plea, âNo. Not happening.â
Jaskier groaned, âCome on, itâll be fun!â
âJaskierââ
âIâve never taken you on a proper date, Y/N, and this is the closest thing weâll get to one.â Your features softened at his sincerity. âIâve been improving in training, not fighting the long, treacherous, hours I am forced to duel with such a wonderful human as yourselfââ Your scoff only made him louder, âI think I deserve a reward, hm? And you as well.â
He gestured to the papers in your lap, eyebrows raised in censure.
You clicked your tongue, âYour idea of a reward is dragging me to a wedding banquet?â
âOne I will be getting paid heftily for and will have lots and lots of free food.â You raised your brows, not convinced. Jaskier groaned, taking your hands in his own. âWhat will convince you to say yes?â
You blinked, âNot much.â
The sternness in your eyes softened as he leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on your lips. It was so sweet, so simple, that you had to force yourself not to swoon when you parted. With his forehead to your own, he whispered, âPlease?â
You sighed, regretting how easy it was for him to make you cave, âFine.â
âSpectacular!â Jaskier jumped away from you, clapping his hands together with a wide smile. âI have your outfit on the way.â
Your voice couldnât have been drier, âGreat.â
â
As soon as you and Jaskier made it to the banquet, it was painfully obvious you had never set foot in one before. You were constantly tugging at the clothes Jaskier picked for you, feeling like they were too tight or too loose or just wildly uncomfortable. They were stunning, sure, but on you, it felt justâŚwrong. You were so grateful that Jaskier didnât have a fit about you keeping your knives on you â the long sleeves and cuffs covered them up enough. That helped you feel at least a tiny bit more comfortable â that, and Jaskier at your side.
The two of you strode into the main hall like you owned the place. And by âthe two of youâ, it was almost 100% Jaskier. He smiled genuinely at the royals he passed, complimented people whenever he could, and even recognized a few of them. It was moments like this that you forgot Jaskier was put through all the events of the guild, and that you were apart of it. Before then, this was probably a normal occurrence. Performances might have been the craziest part of his life.
While all this was happening, you tried to look natural. You didnât know what the proper etiquette of a date was, so you just let Jaskier lead you wherever you went. He sat with you at the table you were given, chatting lowly with you as the rest of the guests arrived.
âHow do you feel?â He asked, his hand resting on your own.
You took a sharp breath in. I feel like I donât belong. But the truth wasnât something Jaskier should hear right now â not before his performance.
You sighed. âHow do you feel? Are you ready to go up there?â
âI was born ready.â
âOf course.â
A strange silence fell over you two. It wasnât something you were used to. Silence with Jaskier was the strangest feeling. It wasnât like you two couldnât just sit in each otherâs presence without speakingâ the difference this time was that Jaskier was looking at you like he wanted to speak, but couldnât find the words.
But soon, he did. âWhat do you think of weddings?â
âI donât, really.â You turned to him slightly, removing your gaze from the people around you. âWhy?â
âIâve been to a lot of banquets, a lot of weddings. No matter how many times I perform, nothing quite beats the atmosphere of true love, does it?â
You searched his face, then shrugged. âI suppose not.â Quite frankly, you didnât know what atmosphere he was talking about. The only things you noticed in places like this were the amount of people and the possible dangers. And you always made sure to take account of every exit, just in case. But love? And true love, at that?
You were still mulling his observation over when he spoke again, âDid I tell you that youâre wonderful today?â
The heat rose to your skin quicker than you could cough out a âyesâ. Because, indeed, Jaskier had made a point of complimenting you, and had done so multiple times on the way over. And every time, it didnât fail to make you flustered.
Being with Jaskier didnât mean you were used to his charm.
By the time your face finally cooled down, it was time for him to perform. He patted your hand, a silent reminder that he would be back very soon. But while he performed, his eyes would only wander from yours for a fraction of time â and when they found yours again, they seemed starved of your presence, starved of your gaze.
As you watched him play, you were taken back to one of the first moments you shared. He had let you play his lute â or, try to. Watching him now, you didnât even want to recall how awful it had sounded when you did it. But you supposed that wasnât the point. Good sound or not, it brought you two together.
â
The night was going longer than you expected. If you were being honest, you were a little bored. There was no point to a banquet other than having a good time, no fights to keep your mind occupied â well, except for the two men in a fighting match over who killed more elves. Other than that, all you could do was watch Jaskier perform and wonder how much time was left in this âatmosphere of loveâ.
Eventually, Jaskierâs performance was concluded. The band behind him continued playing, becoming immediately worse as soon as he stopped singing. You smiled as he accepted compliments from guests on his way over to you. Though you were a bit restless in environments like this, seeing him in his element was always worth it.
Thatâs what you thought until he came up to you, reaching his hand out for you to accept.
Your smile immediately turned into a glare. âYou are not making me dance here, Jaskier.â
Jaskier laughed, making your stiffened body relax, âNo, I am not.â
Though you were relieved, you frowned, taken back by his words. âWhy?â
âBecause you donât like it. Last time I tried to make you dance with me you told me youâd rather stab your own eye out.â Jaskier let his hand fall to his side. âWhy would I make you do something you hate?â
You blinked, still surprised by how well he knew you. âWhat do you suppose we should do now, then?â
Jaskier looked around him, âWellâŚwe could leave.â
âButââ
âMy performance is over and this wedding banquet is a drag.â Jaskierâs smile made your heart leap, âBesides, we can have much more fun back in our room.â
It was impossible for you to miss his wink, and still, it made your skin feel like it was on fire.
Wordlessly, you let him take your hand, and the two of you practically ran out of that achingly boring banquet.
â
âWell that was a bit dull, wasnât it?â
Jaskier dropped his lute into its case as soon as the door was closed behind you.
You lifted your leg onto the nearby chair to remove your knives, âApart from your performance, I would have rather listened to Geralt snore.â
âHe would kill you if he heard that.â
You snorted, âHe would try.â
With a huff, you put your knives on the table and looked down at the outfit Jaskier chose for you. After this long of a night, they didnât feel as uncomfortable as they did before â still, you didnât think you would ever wear it again. But something about the way Jaskier was sitting in the chair beside the bed, rolling up the sleeves of his undershirt, it made something shift inside of you.
With a click of your tongue, you walked over to Jaskier with your hand stretched towards him.
He frowned, âWhatâs this?â
You shrugged, âI owe you a dance.â
âYou donât have toââ
âI donât like dancing. In public.â You pointedly looked around the room, then back to Jaskier. âI donât see anyone but us in here.â
To his silence, you stretched your hand further, urging him to take it.
He did.
In the silence of the room, you felt like everything was so loud. Jaskier fell into position so naturally that it took you aback â his hand fell on your waist, his other one grabbing your own in a simultaneously strong and soft grip, pulling your body close enough to his to feel his chest rise and fall against yours. And just like that, you were dancing.
Okay, Jaskier was dancing. You tried to follow as closely as possible, but dancing was never something you were taught as a child. Or an adult, for that matter. And even though it was commonly compared to fighting, you couldnât seem to get the hang of where your feet should go and when.
It was the third time you stepped on Jaskierâs foot when he snorted a laugh, âYou need lessons.â
You finally looked up from the floor and back at his face, no longer worrying about where your feet went. âShut up.â
âOkay.â
His head dipped closer to yours, forehead resting against your own as if asking for permission for a kiss. You both knew he didnât need it, but the gesture made you smile. And then your eyes fell to his lips, smile falling as you closed the remaining space between you two â and even though it definitely wasnât the first time, the kiss engulfed you in that euphoric feeling your remembered so clearly, the feeling that followed you ever since you and Jaskier became a âweâ.
And suddenly, that âatmosphere of true loveâ that Jaskier mentioned earlier that eveningâŚit didnât seem so foreign anymore.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Dating Yoongi ~ BTS Headcanon
Getting Together
No one knew what you did to Yoongi, but he lost all his self-confidence the moment he saw you
His eyes stared at you for most of the night
He had no witty remarks; he was just left speechless
When he saw you looking at him, he crumbled, he knew he needed to introduce himself otherwise heâd regret it
Eventually he came over to you, trying to play it cool, a chat up line and his name, and you soon told him yours
He definitely did not ask you if you know BTS! The boys had warned him about that one
The two of you met up the following night, just for a few drinks to get to know each other
Usually he was quite quiet, but he loved talking to you and keeping the conversation going
The boys tried to force details out of him as to how things were going but he kept very quiet
He would always text you asking you what you were up to
Whenever you had free time he would try and see you, just for a coffee, or for a long date, he didnât mind
It took awhile for you to know his intentions, he wasnât very affectionate, so you werenât always sure if youâd been friend zoned
Yoongi wasnât always sure how to share his feelings with you, but he wanted you to know that he liked you
He did this through eye contact, his eyes would always be looking at you, paying attention to your every word
There was no rush between you both, it was nice to form a friendship between you both before things moved on
His friendship circle was quite small, so he enjoyed having you around for a while
Eventually he decided to ask you out after a couple of months, taking you for a fun date at the arcade
You brought out his inner child which he loved, he could be an absolute fool in front of you and you didnât mind
The two of you walked along the pier, him stopping you halfway down
âI couldnât think of a better place to ask you this important question. I want us to be more than friends, I want us to be so much more, would you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?â
For the first time he showed weakness, he was terrified you would decline him
âYeah, of course I will Yoongi.â
The pier was also the location of your first kiss, he couldnât wait to feel your lips on his for the first time
If you ever had any doubts about his intentions, they went away as soon as he kissed you
The rest of the evening was adorable, Yoongi would never let go of your hand
He was feeling pretty smug that heâd managed to bag a girlfriend like you
There would definitely be a few photos taken to celebrate such a memorable occasion
Being In A Relationship
The two of you very quickly became inseparable, it was weird to see one of you without the other
His witty remarks always made you chuckle; he didnât care what came out of his mouth
Yoongi wasnât the best at expressing his feelings, but when he did, it melted your heart
Most conversations he would try and rap rather than speak knowing it wound you up
Would definitely rap about you, but not release it for the band, it was just for you and him
He would surprise you when you least expected it with little gifts and trips on holiday
You meant the world to him, and he would try and show you that as often as possible
He loved to show off with all of his basketball tricks, playing with you all the time
You always remembered how on your first anniversary that he gifted you one of his chains, so you both had one
This boy loved food; he was always asking you to cook for him
Mornings were very lazy, you had to practically drag Yoongi out of bed most mornings
Every time he came from work, he would cuddle up to you, demanding that you take a nap with him
He was smug, and couldnât wait to show you off to the boys that he had the most beautiful girlfriend in the world
His family loved you too, they warmed to you instantly because they could see how much Yoongi adored you
Massages constantly, especially on his shoulder whenever it was causing him pain
Crimping his hair for him because he looked so damn cute with those crimps
He loved to take you for drives, showing you his home and the things that meant the most to him
Some nights the two of you wouldnât even speak a word, just each otherâs company was enough
Yoongi was soft for you, he always carried one of your plushies when he was on tour
He would ring you most days, after his naps of course, probably with a plate of food in front of him
One of his favourite things was when you ran your hands through his hair, it was so comforting for him
You would help him with his English, he had the basics down, but he wanted to try and create more well-structured sentences
If you had a pet, he would be obsessed with it, probably more than he was with you sometimes
He would dance for you when you were feeling down, breakdancing around you until you smiled
When he was on tour you could usually be found with one of his basketball jerseys wrapped around you, his scent still strong
Your favourite look was when he wore headbands, he looked adorable
He wasnât a big fan of selfies, but when you begged him with kisses, he couldnât say no
It was rare, but Yoongi could be very romantic, with the help of the boys he could whisk you off your feet
He had a very hard exterior, but when you broke him, he would open up about everything to you, talking for hours
The two of you shared a secret code, whenever he was in an interview or on stage, heâd tap his wrist three times, it was his way of telling you he was thinking of you
If the two of you had the day off, youâd spend it cooking together or baking cookies
He would eat them straight away, you didnât understand how, but he always seemed to be hungry
There would often be little notes left around your house with sweet messages on because he found it much easier that way to express his feelings
Every day, without fail he would tell you that he loved you, even if he was on the other side of the world
You knew when you were getting to him because heâd go all shy, he hated the attention being all on him
There was one time you surprised him on tour, and he broke down into floods of tears, surprising everyone with how touched he was
He loved to play with your hair, tying it up in pigtails was his speciality
Yoongi had the craziest quirks, but they were what you loved most about him
He was actually the first to say I love you, taking you by complete surprise when he came home from tour
You had a whole album on your phone dedicated to that sweet smile of his
His eyes would always search for you in the crowd, he would glance at you the whole way through the concert
You were always stealing his clothes, but he didnât mind, you looked better in them anyway
He would wink at you constantly; he knew that he had you in the palm of his hand when he did so
Yoongi was always anxious to take you to events, he didnât want to throw you into the limelight, he quite liked to leave his personal life at home
His perfect dates were ones when the two of you could stay in bed or just cuddle on the sofas
Army were so obsessed with the two of you, you kept so much a secret, any glimmer of your relationship excited the fans
His birthday wasnât really something he liked to celebrate, but he would go all out for yours
Any special occasion that involved you would mean the world to Yoongi
Affection/Skinship
Heâs definitely not the most affectionate person in the world
But it made his cuddles and kisses even more meaningful and enjoyed
He would always be the big spoon when you embraced, proving his dominance and masculinity
It was the same with sex, he liked to be dominant, and tell you what he wanted from you
Selfishly, he quite liked to receive, it wasnât that he didnât like to give, but he just loved watching you go down on him
Very rarely did you get the chance to dominate, you were usually a puppet on strings to Yoongi
Sex was when he got loud, he didnât hold back with his moans and shouts
He didnât always cuddle after sex, sometimes heâd just lay there, calming himself down
Most of the time it was very passionate and sweet, yet Yoongi wasnât afraid to get rough
Hickeys were always found on your body from his marking his territory
He likes to play with your hands quite often, it always relaxes him
Compliments are given the most when the two of you are intimate, he wants to show you how much you mean to him
Quickies are not uncommon for you both, honestly, youâve lost count of the number of times youâve done it in his studio
He doesnât have the highest sex drive, sometimes heâs quite happy to just cuddle you and hold you after those long days
Heâs most horny when youâve been apart for a while, anything longer than a week he craves your touch
Most of the time he instigates, he likes to be in control, and if heâs needy, heâll make sure youâre there to deliver
As rough as he can be, he can be soft, and appreciate every part of your body
Of course, he never wants to hurt you, and will always make sure that youâre okay, asking you constantly that youâre feeling good
Arguments
Yoongiâs very open in that he believes itâs natural to argue, itâs just what humans do
Not to say the two of you argued often, but he just thought it was part of being in love
Conflict made him grumpy, heâd be very moody and sulk if you shouted at him
He would definitely give you space, if you werenât prepared to resolve it straight away, heâd go to the studio or meet some of the boys
Sometimes even the littlest of things could set him off if he was feeling stressed
They werenât always talked about, sometimes youâd just pretend that it had never happened
He was very affectionate when he argued with you, heâd always feel guilty afterwards
His mouth tends to run away with him a little bit, but he always apologises for it
Something he says that he thinks his funny, is not always funny to you
Yoongi was never afraid to argue, when you tried to remain calm, he quite wanted to argue and just express all your worries
You were a little less keen on arguments, you hated arguing with the love of your life
Despite it all, Yoongi never really rose his voice, his calm demeanour still remained even if he was frustrated
He always reassured you that arguments were natural, and you should never let it worry you
You tried not to, but it was hard, you just wanted the perfect relationship
Whatever you argued about, it always got sorted, Yoongi would never allow conflict to break you both
Your Relationship With The Boys
They loved the girl that put the smile on Min Yoongiâs face
Yoongi had definitely given them all boundaries, he was very strict with how they respected you and treated you
Jin definitely came the closest to breaking those boundaries, he loved to wind Yoongi up by getting close to you
Jungkook obviously respected them the most, he listened to his hyung and would always have Yoongi in the back of his head
You got on very well with Namjoon, you knew the history between him and Yoongi and bonded with him being of similar age
Hobi was always on hand to make you laugh, he loved spending time with both you and Yoongi
Taehyung loved having a girl around and looking to you for advice and help with his relationships
You also shared a close bond with Jimin, he supported Yoongi in everything he did, and supported you too
You bonded with the boys quickly because they saw the positive changes you brought to Yoongiâs life
The Future
Looking to the future was hard with Yoongi as it was never something, he really wanted to talk about
His proposal took you by surprise as youâd never discussed the thought of marriage
It was remarkably romantic for Yoongi, who pulled out all the stops
Your wedding was very lowkey, neither of you really liked the attention of the whole occasion
Yet again, kids were never discussed when you accidentally fell pregnant, but Yoongi was ecstatic
As soon as his family grew, he realised how desperate all along he was to have a family
Everything with you was just so positive, and Yoongi could not have been more thankfulÂ
Episode Recap: 2.15, âPerfect Day 2.0âł
The episode starts with the GHC thinking about how to spend their last week together. Cyrus says, âItâs the worldâs saddest countdown,â which isnât true.
This is the worldâs saddest countdown:
youtube
(This is a joke about someone doing a poor cover version of the song âThe Final Countdownâ by the band Europe. They were big in the 1980s. Ask your parents what the 1980s were.)
They decide theyâll recreate their perfect day, which, in my opinion, is a mistake. Perfect is a crazy bar to clear. You shouldnât aim that high. I say aim to recreate a fairly good to decent day, like the time I spent a whole day eating Bagel Bites and watching a marathon of âHouse Hunters International.â Or the day I had three meals that were just fine and saw a cool cloud. Or the day I slept through.
The GHC commits to the plan, though, and get their bikes fixed up to take off on adventure.
They begin by doing some of the shakiest bike riding Iâve ever seen and Andi says this:
Which feels like a personal shot at me, because thatâs all Iâm doing here. Iâm reading into everything. Including this line of dialogue. Which is a personal attack.
The GHC bikes through the countryside into the woods in search of pumpkin donuts, which seems like an Autumn-based seasonal product? Is this Autumn still? I thought last episode they were trying to get Buffy to stay until the end of the school year, so I assume itâs Spring-ish? Iâve lost all control of the timeline. I want to assume itâs Spring, but I have a tough time believing this store would do something so stupid as to sell pumpkin donuts out-of-season when thereâs so much good, fresh fruit available! Who runs a small business out in the middle of the woods like this?!
Also, this seems way off the beaten path. They did this same trip years ago? Like when they were small children? Thatâs a lot of rope to give 8 year olds. Celia let Andi bicycle into the woods and buy sugary treats, huh? Ok.
Anyway, the GHC get cider and pumpkin donuts.
Back in town, Jonah gets an anxiety-induced attack.
Jonah appears to just be going everywhere now in a constant state of panic. He bursts into the music store where Bowieâs hanging out, panting and pacing.Â
Heâs also wearing half of a Def Leppard shirt and half of another shirt thatâs also maybe a different Def Leppard shirt? I canât make heads or tails of it. It just says âDef Leâ and becomes another shirt. Like Jonahâs having so many panic attacks, heâs ripping his shirts in half and piecing them back together at random.
Bowie tries to calm him down and teach him some guitar chords. Jonah plays the chords with body language of someone defusing a bomb.
Bowie asks if he wants to play more. Jonah asks if the store manager will mind, which, of course not. If you donât want hippy-looking dudes and teenagers just hanging around your store, playing music and not buying things, then you donât open a guitar shop! It comes with the territory! Bowie invites Jonah to come watch him play a show sometime. Jonah agrees.
The GHC get ready to leave the food shack in the woods when they discover 2/3 of their bikes have been stolen, which is horrible. Used to be you could go out into the middle of the woods and not have to worry about crime. Nowadays? The worldâs going to heck in a hand basket, I tell ya.
I wonder where TJ is.
Buffy says they should call Bex. Andi doesnât want to because they need to recreate their perfect day down to the smallest detail. She thinks they can all ride on her old bike, which they canât, so they start walking.
A bee, possibly the one that came near him earlier in the episode, comes after Cyrus. Cyrus takes off running.
I donât know if itâs Josh the person bleeding through or Josh the actor is doing an amazing job pretending to be a very uncoordinated character, but every physical thing Cyrus does, from bike riding to running, looks incredibly laborious.
Cyrus ends up with his foot in a hole. He loses his shoe to nature. They try to figure out how theyâre going to continue when, dear God a county sheriff officer is right up on top of them in her SUV. She came up really quick and out of nowhere like some kind of spirit guide of the forest that drives a very quiet Ford Explorer and rescues lost children.
The sheriff offers them a ride and they start getting into the car.
Meanwhile, Jonah and Bowie are having themselves a little jam session.
Bowie figures out thereâs more going on with Jonah and that heâs having panic attacks. Jonah admits heâs not seeing a doctor about it, and though he doesnât want to keep having them, it seems his plan is to just tough it out, ducking into random places to wait out his constant attacks until he either finds himself back in a relationship or... dies of old age? Iâm not here to judge anyoneâs choices regarding their mental health, but I got to say, I feel like thatâs not going to work.
Jonah asks Bowie not to tell Andi. He says he wonât, but adds that he thinks sheâd understand, which, yeah, probably. Sheâs been friends with Cyrus for this long and heâs like a walking panic attack. Iâm sure sheâs figured out some stuff by now.
Bowie says Jonah has talent and offers to give him lessons. I guess itâs a pretty lucky thing Jonah came into the music store where Bowie was and didnât run into the bakery or something. Although, he could also have a talent for making pastries. The world will never know now.
Back in the woods, the GHC finally finish getting into the sheriffâs car. It took them a very long time. At least two static scenery transition shots worth. They see their stolen bikes being ridden away and ask the sheriff to stop the thieves, but the sheriff gets a call about a grand theft auto, so sheâs got to go to that. Used to be you could park your car in town and not have to worry about it getting stolen. Nowadays? Heck in a hand basket. Heck in a hand basket.
What do you think TJâs up to at this very moment?
The sheriff drops them back off at the donut place. They realize too late that they left almost all of their stuff in the back of the cop car. The sheriff is gone before they can get her attention. (Life pro tip: if you want a police officer to come to you, all you need to do is commit a crime, like violating a noise ordinance, or getting publicly intoxicated, or armed robbery. Thereâs almost literally no place you canât commit a crime. Get creative. The GHC, for example, couldâve burned down the closed donut shop. Arson wouldâve brought the sheriff back with all of their stuff in a hurry.)
Cyrusâ phone has 2% life in it. Buffy wants to call Bex to come get them, but Andi doesnât want to give Bex the satisfaction of knowing she was right. Andi goes to tell Bex, but then bails as Cyrus and Buffy scream and the phone dies. Bold move on Andiâs part. I, too, would rather die in the woods than let my parents know they were right about something trivial.
Andi admits this craziness is all because she wants Buffy to leave with a good memory. The bee returns and stings Cyrus.
Look, off-topic maybe a little here, but Iâm with Cyrus in his hatred of bees. I know, I know, everyone now is all like, âBees are important. The bees are dying and we donât know why. It could ruin the planet! Save the bees! Save the bees!â Iâm like, nah, kill âem all. Do it. And while weâre at it: wasps, yellow jackets, any bug that can sting or bite. Dead. All of them. Also, cockroaches. They donât sting or bite, but I hate them, too. Letâs just do it and see what happens. I bet weâll be fine. And if not, the human race can go extinct knowing that at least we took the bees with us. Thatâs enough of a victory in my book.
Anyway, the GHC march through a field and are saved by a Deus Bex Machina (this is a really good joke, trust me). Bex takes them all back to town and to The Spoon where they joke about their misadventure. It wonât be remembered as their worst day, but possibly their craziest.
They then see two boys wearing shirts from the Alpine slide they never made it to and jump to the wild conclusion that those are the bike thieves. With rage in their eyes, and madness in their hearts, the GHC vows to get revenge.
They run out of the restaurant and steal the two boysâ bikes. They get 30 feet away before realizing the bikes theyâre on arenât theirs. Then they laugh wildly about their larceny.
Used to be a time you could park your bike outside the local diner and not have to worry about it being stolen by a group of maniacs. Heck, hand basket, and all that.
They suddenly remember they only have a week together again and the mood sours. They hug and say theyâll see each other tomorrow. Andi and Cyrus go to return the bikes and Buffy does this:
She turned around! Which, as anyone whoâs paid attention to the show understands, means she:
a. likes Andi
b. likes Cyrus
c. likes stolen bikes
Weâll have to wait to find out, though, because thatâs where the episode ends.
Unrelated, but I bet whatever TJ was up to during this episode was good. Like, I bet he was off practicing free throw shooting, or helping the elderly eat food or something. Whatever he was doing, I bet it wasnât thievery, which is more than I can say for some of the characters on this show.
âHow long do they sleep for?Sonic tries to at least get in a full 8 hours! though with how restless he gets and how often he travels around the world he doesnât sleep for long periods of time. heâs more partial to taking multiple few hour naps throughout a 24 hour period!âAre they a light or heavy sleeper?if it wasnât clear in the first answer, heâs a pretty light sleeper :PâDoes your muse make their bed?he does, but very hastily. once heâs up and moving he doesnât really spend much time on making sure his bed will be ready for him when itâs time to sleep when he doesnât even know for sure if heâs gonna be sleeping there in the first place :PâDoes your muse snore?he has a very light snore, itâs not super noticeable if youâre not paying attention. his nose twitches in his sleep too!âWhat sleeping position do they find themselves in most often?curled up in a ball on his side, always burrowed under blankets or whatever bedding there is if there is anyâHow clean is their room?iâd say mostly clean, since he doesnât spend much time there in the first place. when he is there heâll leave some scattered messes since he tends to rush about the place but heâll try to pick up most of it.âDoes the bedroom have a theme / what is the layout like?heâs got a red race car bed âcause heâs a big dork, a night table with a simple lamp on it and a electric clock, a dresser across the room, lots of stuff stored in his closet, some posters of the bands he likes on his walls (thereâs totally a crush 40 poster or two on there), absolutely has glow in the dark stars on his ceiling, and framed photos of him with his friends sitting on his dresser! he keeps most of his stuff in his closet âcause itâs bigger and spacious and has places for storage. thereâs also a couple bean bag chairs in his room, a small tv with a little game station near them and a reaaaaallly soft, fluffy rug on the floor there.âWhat is their clothing style?sonic doesnât usually wear much clothes, mostly âcause since itâs more efficient in his line of work as a speedy hero to not be weighed down by clothing that could throw him off and even get damaged. although! he does like wearing shirts/jackets sometimes. heâs got some colorful t-shirts and long sleeves, and like two different jackets- one of which is a red letterman jacket that matches his shoes and another thatâs just a dark navy blue hoodie. tails actually likes to wear that one sometimes because itâs so big and comfy on him and sometimes sonic will find golden fur stuck in the jacket and is just âoh tails :âDââDo they collect something?Sonic collects souvenirs from the places he visits around the world! he usually stashes them in his closet!âDoes your Muse let other people into their room?Heâs fine with letting people into his room when HEâS there, but when he isnât then heâs not cool with that. the only person he lets into his room when he isnât there is TailsâHas your Muse slept with anyone? (Platonic or not. Take your pick.)Ehhh, heâs taken naps with Tails and Knuckles before, and at least Amy once. all platonic cuddles of course. As far as not platonic⌠nahh. not really. heâs awkward and shy when it comes to romantic activities. âDo they gave any plushies? Or a keepsake from childhood?He has a plushy chao his mom got him when he was little that heâs hung onto all this time but he keeps it in his closet nowdaysâOne pillow or many?two! one to cuddle and one just in case he needs it!âOne blanket or many?just one! itâs a thick, silky sky blue one with fluffy cloud patterns on it~âHow many hours (or minutes) does your muse spend on the computer?like 5 to 15 minutes at the most, except Sonic doesnât use a computer- rather he uses the common communicator device he and his friends use in their universe. heâll browse the internet for a little bit, check the news and current headlines, check some social media, he isnât on there for too longâWhat is the last thing your muse searched for online?probably the context for the latest popular meme thatâs been circulating :P âWhat would their tumblr be like?probably kinda the same way anyone else would use tumblr, just for something to look at stuff theyâre interested in. i can see sonicâs blog being sorta like a cross between an instagram and a blog he uses to keep up on current world events. heâll post random selfies of himself at some of the craziest places like âhey guys lol iâm on mount everest rn check it out!â, and sometimes heâll answer questions he gets in his inbox but not very often âcause while he gets a lot of sweet asks he does get some weird anons too asking about his feet and heâs just like â :) what the fuck hahaâhe also will do his best to keep up with the memes. heâs gotta stay cool and hip with the trends manâWhat social media sites are they part of?tbh i donât know if tumblr would really be for sonic, at least, it wouldnât be the account he mostly uses. i think heâd probably use twitter and instagram since on twitter you donât need to post long ass tweets, theyâre just short and get the message across the way he likes, and then instagram heâd use to show all the places heâs visited in his travels because Sonic absolutely loves scenery and experiencing beautiful views.
BDRPWriMo Task #6 -Â 10 Short-Short Stories
Task #6: Write ten short-short stories of no more than a paragraph long.
Franny Robinsonâs musical influences; ten interview quotes about other musicians and singers that she says inspire her work
i. Jenny Lewis
âI dunno, thereâs just-â Robinson paused and with her palms flat up, made claws with her hands as she searched for the words. â-something so honest about Jenny. I had the honor of performing with her once and I was just in awe. I think I have a little bit of a crush on her. I was first introduced to her work in 2001 by a great friend of mine from college, Dani Weiss [currently a member of the American-Canadian newgrass band The Weepy Willows]. We were...going on a little trip -
Q: Acid or shrooms?
âMy husband is sitting right there, oh god. Acid. In moderation, I think things like that can be worthwhile experiences. In moderation. We were doing acid in her apartment and listeninâ to music and she [Weiss] put on their album Take Offs and Landings. I was real into it from Go Ahead [the first track]. Which. I always liked chill music when I dropped acid, anything too loud and busy made me anxious. And when the followup, The Execution of All Things came out, it was like - I was like - just like, âdamn, this woman is amazing.â Her songwriting ability is just phenomenal and her voice- I feel like Iâm sittinâ across from her and sheâs tellinâ me stories. Thereâs- again, the only thing I can think of is this honesty about her.â
ii. Hizuru
âJapan actually has a vibrant history with jazz music, so Iâm familiar with a lot of Japanese jazz and have had the honor of working with many talented Japanese jazz musicians. I donât know very much about Hizuru, actually, other than I love them. I have been experimenting with incorporating traditional Cambodian music with, you know, jazz and other western styles of music. That part of my culture is very important to me, so I want - I want to show the world how beautiful instruments like tro and chapei are. Anyway- I was struggling with a balance of sounds when in 2017 I stumbled upon a Hizuru song called - oh, god, I donât speak Japanese, so Iâll probably butcher this. The song is called Ushiwakamaru. It is an instrumental piece, as is the entire self-titled album, and the blend of traditional Japanese music and modern jazz on that entire album is perfection. I hope they come out with more soon, I am hungry for more, truly.â
iii. Ella FitzgeraldÂ
Q: Of the early jazz vocalists, who inspires you the most?
âOh my god, Ella Fitzgerald. Well - mm, no, absolutely her, no question. I am by no means implying I live up to her standard, in fact I never will, but I have channeled her. Especially in my earlier work when I was a bit more concerned with going what jazz fans want, expect, and love versus taking lessons from those who came before me and building on that with my own ideas, my own voice. If that makes sense? She was classic. Itâs Only A Paper Moon was, I think, the first jazz song I heard when I was little. Or, it was the first that really struck me. [laughs] My oldest brother used his birthday money to buy an Ella Fitzgerald album for me on vinyl so I would stop running around the house singing the only lyrics I remembered. I think it was like [singing]-Â Say, its only a paper moon, sailing over a cardboard sea...and I forgot the rest so I could just repeat cardboard sea like three times.â
iv. Patsy Cline
âIâm from Georgia,â laughs Robinson, running a hand through her hair as she pulls her feet up under her on the chaise lounge in her Swynlake home. âLike, out in the country in Georgia. You couldnât grow up there in the eighties and not have known who Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton were. Dolly was more, like, relevant and current, but Patsyâs a classic. And as a woman whose natural register is lower myself, I really appreciated being able to sing along decently well without much effort. We donât - we donât get to see alto voices in popular music a lot. Pop, even the jazz music that gets a following outside of hardcore jazz fans. Hitting the craziest high notes does seem to be a current trend across the genre spectrum.â
When asked if that was a bad thing, Robinson simply shook her head. âI donât think it;s positive or negative one way or the other. Itâs just an observation.â
v. Ahmad Jamal
âI mean, if you want to talk jazz pianists, you canât not talk about Ahmad Jamal. On Green Dolphin Street? Autumn Rain? F---, man, leaving him out is criminal. Heâs been in the game for five decades, thatâs longer than Iâve been alive. I only hope to be on his level. Like, I hear words from his piano. I understand what Iâm supposed to be feeling, thinking, or seeing when I listen to his work. And with instrumental music, thatâs a challenge. Classical? I struggle to listen to classical music. I think itâs beautiful, and I really respect classical musicians, but unless Iâm explicitly aware of what picture this piece is supposed to paint in my head, when I tell a classical expert what a piece makes me feel, theyâre usually like âACTUALLY...â
vi. Ădith PiafÂ
âMy father - well, heâs technically my stepfather,â Robinson said, scowling at the word like it was a swear. âBut, he adopted me when he married my mother, and my biological father may as well have been a sperm donor. Anyway. My father is from Switzerland, and they have four official languages there. He speaks them all, plus English, plus he learned to speak Khmer when he married my mother. Heâs so cool, my dad. Heâs from a Francophone-Italophone Swiss family, so I grew up listening to a lot of old French, Italian, and some German music from him. I still donât speak German and Italian though, [laughs] sorry Dad.â
âWe listened to Ădith Piaf a lot together. I was very protective of my mother as a child, you know how kids of single moms are? My mom was my superhero and I was used to American men thinking they had a right to touch her because she was just a poor foreign woman who owned a restaurant. So when my future dad started hanging around, I hated him. But he was determined to make me like him so Iâd let him marry my mother, and heâd take me for ice cream and play Ădith Piaf cassettes in the car. Heâd tell me about what the love songs meant, and didnât tell me about the songs that werenât, and told me the love songs are how he felt about my mother. He was like, âDara-â my legal first name is Darareaksmey, itâs Khmer. My parents usually calls me âDara.â âDara, if you let me, Iâll be good to your mother, and to you.â I eventually got tired of him begging me to marry my mom so I let him. [laughs]
I asked if she ever regretted giving him her blessing.
âNo, never. Heâs my dad, and the two boys he brought into the marriage are my older brothers. Iâm my Swiss grandparentsâ only granddaughter, so they spoiled me even from Switzerland. No, weâre family.â
vii. Dolores O'Riordan
Interview date, 26th of January, 2018
Q: Letâs talk about something I just found out about you from your Twitter feed the other day.
A: Oh, no, should I tell my husband to cover his ears?
Q: No, itâs rated H for Husband.Â
A: Excellent.
Q: Youâre a huge fan of Dolores OâRiordan. Which, I wouldnât have guessed. But on the day the tragic news of her passing broke, you Tweeted out a tribute to her including ffive meet and greet pictures of the two of you together- the first, correct me if Iâm wrong, is from 1994?
A: Yes, yes I had actually seen then the year prior, when I was thirteen, but â94 was the first time I could afford a backstage package with my babysitting money. The other four are from 1999, 2002, 2010, and 2016. I loved The Cranberries, they were the first concert I dragged my husband to when we were dating.
Q: Safe to say youâve been a hardcore fan for-
A: Two and a half decades, yeah. Yeah, The Cranberries are one of my all time favorites. Dolores OâRiordanâs voice was...everything.
Q: Youâre a jazz artist, primarily. Whatâs consistently drawn you to The Cranberries?
A: [laughs] Other than being a teenager in the 90â˛s? I mean, her voice. She changed the game for what it meant to be a female vocalist in rock music. And up until my second year at NYU, I wasnât sure where I was going with music. I loved rock, I loved jazz, I was into R&B, I loved bluegrass. I sang in several bands in high school and college, and The Cranberries were usually on the setlist. Her voice was amazing. I idolized her as a young vocalist, even if I ended up gravitating toward a different genre.
Q: You uploaded a cover of Dreams with Irish alt-rock singer and guitarist Padraig Chen, and Irish indie musician SiobhĂĄn Walsh as well. How did that collaboration come about?
A: Padraigâs been a friend of mine for a long time; we met through a mutual friend who is also an Asian-diaspora musician in the UK and Ireland and it was a match made in music heaven. Weâve collaborated a lot. SiobhĂĄn is a friend of Patâs, and we all looked up to Dolores, so we just got together and made our little tribute to her.
viii. Badi Assad
âI was first introduced to bossa nova...probably during my sophomore year of college. Her voice is like butter, but frankly, thatâs not the most interesting thing about her. She combines traditional jazz, bossa nova, other Latin music elements, and traditional Middle Eastern sounds. Anything that is a marriage of different tastes and cultures is interesting to me, and when its done as well as she does it? Forget it. She is one of the best jazz and jazz-adjacent guitarists out there today. I really admire her. I hope to perform with her one day, itâs genuinely a dream of mine.â
ix. Ros Serey Sothea
âOne of my most unexpected musical influences...well, I donât - I donât think sheâs so much unexpected, as any of my following outside of my small Cambodian or Khmer-American following wonât have ever heard of. Ros Serey Sothea is one of the most important singer in Khmer popular music history, sheâs called the Golden Voice. My mother would sing her songs to me as a child, whichever of them she could remember. Under the Khmer Rogue, which my mother survived, something like 90% of Cambodiaâs artists, dancers, musicians, and singers died or were executed. She was one of them. And my motherâs favorite singer. Most of the master recordings from her and other singers like Pen Ran and Sinn Sisamouth were destroyed by the Khmer Rogue, so whatever recordings we do have of Khmer rock and roll from that era are so, so vital to preserve and keep record of. Even though I am a jazz music educator, at my lower level, more generic classes where I have the wiggle room to do so, I talk about Khmer music of the 60s and early 70s for a class because I feel so strongly about the legacy of this music.â
âI went on a tangent,â Robinson said apologetically. âWhere was I? Oh, Ros Serey Sothea. Right, so her voice was just-â Robinson put her arms out to her side and swayed to the imaginary music in her head. â-you could just kind groove like this to only her voice, nothing else needed. Her voice danced on top of the backing band. My mother managed to get her hands on some records, her siblings who remained in Cambodia sent some to us and her other siblings who were resettled, in the mid-eighties. So, I was six or seven before I heard my first Khmer song from a record player or a cassette instead of my motherâs voice, even though sheâd been singing to me since I was born. These songs are still incredibly important to Cambodians today, and diaspora as well.â
I asked her if that had anything to do with the semi-viral success of her recent cover of 70â˛s singer Sieng Vannthyâs âConsole Meâ.Â
âOh, for sure.â Robinson said. "Itâs the first time I professionally recorded a song in Khmer, a lot of people were surprised I spoke the language.â
x. Dolly Parton
âOkay, Dolly probably has less of an influence on my music than my persona, Iâll be honest. But her music means so much to me. At my wedding, during toasts, my mother mortified me by throwinâ in video footage of my first ever live performance from â89. Little nine-year-old Franny was on stage in little secondhand cowboy boots, this horribly 80s lookinâ frilly dress, my hair in little twin braids, singinâ and dancinâ to Whyâd You Come In Here Lookinâ Like That. To this day, my husband still brings that up.â
Q: How do you mean Dolly Parton influenced your persona?
âGreat question. So, our origins are similar. Kind of. She grew up poor one of twelve children, I grew up poor, one of three. My family eventually was lucky enough to make it out of the poverty I was born into but we were still always poor, you know? Like. I remember my mom rationing her food so I could eat enough until that stopped when I was about seven and my mom didnât have to make a meal for herself last two meals. And weâre both from the American South.â
âI grew up on Dolly. Sheâs the queen of our people [laughs] and Iâm not even being facetious. We love her. Canât get enough of her. And I include myself in that; Dolly Parton is an icon. She is unashamed of who she is and where she comes from, which really struck a chord with me. As the American-born daughter of a refugee, I was always caught between two cultures. Am I Cambodian, am I American? Which can I claim? My mother taught to me my Cambodian culture, our Vietnamese friends taught me about Vietnamese culture, but my white father was from Switzerland so I didnât learn to be American until school. Thatâs when I started droppinâ my Gâs, sayinâ yâall and ainât, and asking my parents to make grits for breakfast when theyâd never eaten them before in their immigrant lives. I wanted so badly to just be seen as American, to be seen as just a girl from Georgia. If it werenât for my mother refusing to let me speak English to her at home I would have lost my Khmer. She spoke English just fine, but English was for Out There.â
âMy mom taught me to be proudly Cambodian, but Iâm not just Cambodian, right? I mean, Iâm biracial, sure. But more importantly, Iâm bi-cultural. Iâm not just Cambodian, Iâm American - Southern, if we wanna get real specific. Both of my cultures are vibrant, and beautiful, and are equally important to me. My mom taught me not to be ashamed to be the daughter of a refugee - she didnât get into specifics until I was older, but she was always made it clear she had Been Through Some Shit and could handle anything. Even now, when I go through something difficult I just tell myself, âMom survived genocide, you can do whatever this is.â I knew how to be proudly Cambodian, I knew how to wear traditional dress to nice events, and wear Khmer wedding clothes for my wedding instead of a white dress. But I didnât know how to embrace this other part of myself - because wasnât raised in the default Middle America. Even my American side is a type of odd culture, isnât it?
Dolly Parton taught me not to be ashamed of the other half of where I came from. She is unapologetic about beinâ who she is. She is proud of where she came from. And I want to be the Dolly Parton of my rural Georgia town. My identities as Cambodian and Georgian are more important to be than my identity as, like, an American person in general. I want people to think, âthatâs a Georgia womanâ when they think of me, just like you look at Dolly and say âthatâs a Appalachian girlâ before you just go âoh, sheâs American.â
10. How long have you been practicing? I donât remember exactly when I startedâŚaround ten years, maybe eleven. 11. Do you currently or have you ever had any familiars? Have never had a familiar, but would like one. 12. Do you believe in Karma orâ¨Reincarnation? Yes to both. 13. Do you have a magical name? Nope. 14. Are you âout of the broom closetâ? Only to a couple of friends who are also witches. 15. What was the last spell you performed? Banish negativity. 16. Would you consider yourself knowledgeable? Fairly so. 17. Do you write your own spells? Almost always. 18. Do you have a book of shadows?â¨If so, how is it written and/or set up? Yes, itâs barely started though because Iâm too indecisive about how I want it set up. 19. Do you worship nature? No, but respect and honor it. 20. What is your favorite gemstone? Amethyst. 21. Do you use feathers, claws, fur, pelt, skeletons/bones, or any other animal body part for magical work? No, I donât like using animal parts. 22. Do you have an altar? Do you consider yourself an Alchemist? No 25. Are you any other type of magical practitioner besides a witch? I donât think so⌠26. What got you interested in witchcraft? Have you ever performed a spell or ritual with the company of anyone who was not a witch? No 28. Have you ever used ouija? A homemade one, yes. Will never touch one again. 29. What is something you wish someone had told you when you first started? That my craft doesnât have to be the same as anyone elseâs. That there is more to deity than the binary of male/female. That the goddess can represent more than just motherhood. 32. Do you celebrate the Sabbats? If so which one is your favorite? In small ways, yes. Yule is my favorite. 33. Would you ever teach witchcraft to your children? I do not plan on having children, but if I did, I would let them decide if they wanted to learn. I would never force it on them as Christianity was forced on me. 34. Do you meditate? Not anymore, but I need to. 35. What is your favorite season? Spring! 36. What is your favorite type of magick to preform? Candle, simple magick. 37. How do you incorporate your spirituality into your daily life? Having small reminders that help me feel connected with deity, like jewelry, visual reminder of an altar, or the scent of incense. 38. What is your favorite witchy movie? Donât have one. 39. What is your favorite witchy book, both fiction and non-fiction. Why? Donât have one. 40. What is the first spell you ever preformed? Successful or not. Honestly I canât even remember⌠41. Whatâs the craziest witchcraft-related thing thatâs happened to you? Canât think of anything too crazy at the moment. 42. What is your favourite type of candle to use? Birthday candles. I use them all the time for spells, because they burn quickly. I know that if I have to let a larger candle burn all the way down, Iâll either run out of time, or forget about it and leave it unattended. 43. What is your favorite witchy tool? Crystals, candles, runes. 44. Do you or have you ever made your own witchy tools? I made a wand once. Am getting ready to (attempt) to make my own altar tiles. 45. Have you ever worked with any magical creatures such as the fae or spirits? I worked with a gnome in college. 46. Do you practice color magic? Somewhat 47. Do you or have you ever had a witchy teacher or mentor of any kind? I had an online mentor shortly after I started. 48. What is your preferred way of shopping for witchcraft supplies? Screen shopping online (a.k.a. drooling over things I canât afford), scavenging in department stores for items I can use for witchy purposes, searching outside. 49. Do you believe in predestination or fate? I think there are certain paths that are set out for us, but they are more a guidance than set in stone, and I see it as a branched path with several options. 50. What do you do to reconnect when you are feeling out of touch with your practice? Sit outside and feel the grass beneath me and sun above, light incense or a candle. 51. Have you ever had any supernatural experiences? Quite a few. 52. What is your biggest witchy pet peeve? The whole Maiden-Mother-Crone thing. As a woman who does not want kids, itâs a bit alienating. There is more to a woman than her ability/desire to bear children, but it seems that most people place so much value in that being the epitome of what it means to be a woman. A big part of why I didnât practice for a long time. 53. Do you like incense? If so whatâs your favorite scent? Yes, sandalwood by far, but not the cheap fake kind! 54. Do you keep a dream journal of any kind? Not anymore. The last time I did, I dreamt about someoneâs death before it happened and that freaked me out. 55. What has been your biggest witchcraft disaster? Placing a candle in spanish moss and lighting it. The moss caught fire, then I tried to blow it out, which sent hot pieces of moss flying. Luckily nothing else caught. 56. What has been your biggest witchcraft success? Honestly, just finding a sense of belonging and peace. Finally discovering my patron goddesses and gods. 57. What in your practice do you do that you may feel silly or embarrassed about? Talking to my goddesses/gods throughout the day about stupid things. (Not out loud) 58. Do you believe that you can be an atheist, Christian, Muslim or some other faith and still be a witch too? Yes 59. Do you ever feel insecure, unsure or even scared of spell work? Sure, but it usually falls away once I start doing the spell. 60. Do you ever hold yourself to a standard in your witchcraft that you feel you may never obtain? I used to, but realized my craft is whatever I want to make it. There shouldnât be pressure and stress trying to hold yourself to a high standard. Itâs not about being perfect. 61. What is something witch related that you want right now? A flower of life altar cloth or tile and more crystals. 62. What is your rune of choice? Mannaz. 63. What is your tarot card of choice? Donât have one.. eight of cups used to always come up whenever I pulled for myself though, but I havenât tried in a while. 64. Do you use essential oils? If so what is your favorite? Not currently. Used to use sage oil to cleanse my apartment when I lived on campus during college. 65. Have you ever taken any kind of witchcraft or pagan courses? I did an online Wiccan course like ten years ago. 66. Do you wear pagan jewelry in public? Not obviously pagan jewelry, but yes. 67. Have you ever been discriminated against because of your faith or being a witch? No, because the only people that know are other witches and one other good friend. 68. Do you read or subscribe to any pagan magazines? No 69. Do you think itâs important to know the history of paganism and witchcraft? To an extent. Itâs a good foundation to build your craft on if you know a bit of its history. 70. What are your favorite things about being a witch? The individualization. Being able to feel connected with a higher power from anywhere. 71. What are your least favorite things about being a witch? Not being able to have a permanent altar. The misrepresentation in the media. 72. Do you listen to any pagan music? If so who is your favorite singer/band? I havenât yet looked into specifically pagan music. 73. Do you celebrate the Esbbats? If so, how? Not usually, though Iâd like to. 74. Do you ever work skyclad? Never, not comfortable with that. 75. Do you think witchcraft has improved your life? If so, how? Very much so. It has given me confidence, strength, a sense of peace and belonging. 76. Where do you draw inspiration from for your practice? So many different places⌠many many books. Friends. Tumblr and pinterest. 77. Do you believe in âfantasyâ creatures? (Unicorns, fairies, elves, gnomes, ghosts, etc) Some, like the fae, gnomes, elves, ghosts. Not sure about unicorns and dragons and wyverns, etc. 78. Whatâs your favorite sigil/symbol? Donât think I have one. 79. Do you use blood magick in your practice? Why or why not? No, I donât find it necessary. 80. Could you ever be in a relationship with someone who doesnât support your practice? No, never. I donât need someone who also practices, but they need to support and respect that I do. 81. In what area or subject would you most like your craft to grow? I would like to use candles more often, and for more complex spells. To incorporate magic into more of everyday life. 82. Whatâs your favorite candle scent? Do you use it in your practice? Lavender, sandalwood. I tend to use unscented candles more so, as I usually use birthday candles for spells. 83. Do you have a pre-ritual ritual? (I.e. Something you do before rituals to prepare yourself for them). If so what is it? Not really, just grounding myself, maybe making a circle. 84. What real life witch most inspires your practice? My best friend from high school. 85. What is your favorite method of communicating with deity? Sitting peacefully (especially outside) and just feeling their presence. 86. How do you like to organize all your witchy items and ingredients? They arenât very organized right now, partly because I donât have much, and partly because I have no space in my room for any one storae area. 87. Do you have any witches in your family that you know of? Nope. 88. How have you created your path? What is unique about it? I donât knowâŚnot really thought that deeply about it. At this point I kind of just do what I want, as long as it feels right to me. 89. Do you feel you have any natural gifts or affinities (premonitions, hearing spirits, etc.) that led you toward the craft? If so what are they? Hearing, seeing spiritsâhave since I was a child. There was one particular instance involving a ball of light and a soothing voice. I was maybe eight. I think that was really the first time I felt the calling. 90. Do you believe you can initiate yourself or do you have to be initiated by another witch or coven? I believe you can initiate yourself. 91. When you first started out in your path what was the first thing or things you bought? Crystals, since they were easy to find and to pass off as just a ârock collectionâ. Books, because I am a complete bibliophile. 92. What is the most spiritual or magickal place youâve been? Canât think of a specific place. Old buildings thoughâI love feeling the energy they give off. 93. Whatâs one piece of advice youâd give someone who is searching for their matron and patron deities? Do some research, but let them come to you. Donât let someone else tell you who youâre deities should be. Your true patron/matron will probably be one that you shy away from at first, but that keeps coming back up. 94. What techniques do you use to âget in the zoneâ for meditation? I donât meditate really. 95. Did visualization come easily to you or did you have to practice at it? It came easily. 96. Do you prefer day or night? Why? Night. Less people in the way. The moon and stars are out. Thereâs more freedom to practice my craft. Itâs quieter. 97. What do you think is the best time and place to do spell work? Changes depending on the spell. 98. How did you feel when you cast your first circle? Did you stumble or did it go smoothly? It went smoothly, though I think I was shy and felt a bit foolish. 99. Do you believe witchcraft gets easier with time and practice? I think it gets more comfortable and familiar. You gain confidence. 100. Do you believe in many gods or one God with many faces? Kind of both at once? 101. Do you eat meat, eggs and dairy? Yes to all. 102. What is your favorite color and why? Purple, itâs soothing but also strong. 103. What is the one question you get asked most by non-practitioners or non-pagans? How do you usually respond? âSo you like, do spells and stuff?â or âDo you worship the devil?â Response: âYes.â and âNo.â Generally just the one friend asking though, as almost no one knows that Iâm pagan. 104. Which of your five senses would you say is your strongest? Sight. I tend to pick up on small details that most other people donât. Iâm more aware of my surroundings that it seems like other people are. 105. What is a pagan or witchcraft rule that you preach but donât practice? Grounding yourself at the end of the day.
Was nice being with you and knowing you, be well
The bad
So, a lot of things happened during 2017 however when writting things I first focus on the bad, than on the ulgy and finally on the good. It doesn't make much sense when you read it and I didn't like it the first time my therapist suggested it to me. The reason why it works for me is because after dealing with shit I'm left with the awesome stuff.
Let's just get into it, I've lost a lot of friends at the begininng of 2017 and it felt terrible but only briefly, later on it just puzzled me and even sometimes bothered me. I didn't give it much thought because while those people where the ones I spent my childhood with, played in a band with, spent some of the craziest times of my life with, they were not my best friends.
Another thing that happened that I disliked was that I thought I needed to move to Novi Sad for my parents well-being. Only recently, up to which more and more issues surfaced, I accepted the reality of things- I'm not supposed to change my life and make big decisions based on what they need but based on what I need. Additionally, I never liked my small room, never felt at home in it, just used it to escape what ever bullshit laid beyond my doors. When I moved back was when I thought I realized how friendless I was and how people were truy only focused on the benefits they have from one another. I thought all of this only made me sad however I was also getting frustrated which I didn't realize even thought my partner at the time pointed it plenty.
The above is insignificant compared to its follow up. I lost two people I cared about a lot. One was long time friend of my family with whom I loved spending my time with and talking. He was a wise man who was more than happy to exchange opinions and words and offer support. He was kindhearted and always did everything he could to make his family and friends feel loved. I had to watch him struggle in agony for breath and eventually die. When I realized what was happening I first focused on organizing the ongoing traffic and signal the ambulance van that was rushing to his aid. After that, I instinctively buried my thoughts and feelings and they remained such until I started talking with my therapist and the emotion train just ran me the fuck over.
The second hardest thing I did was to lose a very close friend.. We've used to talk all the time, saw eachother hours on end and thought of things we could do together. Shit was confusingly awesome, I've met hundrets of people but this was my first time that I liked someone so much and so early on.
This made me scared as hell and combined with the frustration I didn't know I was feeling or how to deal with it made my insecurities and paranoia resurface and because of it I made a terrible mistake. I wanted to tell this person how much I appreciated, loved and admired them and that I never experienced something like this and that I doubt I deserved this. It came of as if I saw all of what we had as my punishment which lead to her decision to withdraw and close off. Unfortunately, she kept this decision from me for months and I watched the intimacy and all the cute things such as "I miss you", "Sleep tight yo", "Let me know when you get back home"(this usually doesn't mean much to me however these were two hour car trips so yeah), "how was your day", "whachu up to?" to wither away. Slowly it grew into her not paying attention to the things I was telling her, to her not being interested in me or my life, to not texting me and to when I texted her either ignoring my text for a long time or replying with basically a "yes", "no", "ok", "it's complicated", "we will see". After two months of this I asked if this was it for us to which she said yes. I was a bit pissed simply because we haven't hearder from one another for 10 days and she was trying to blow me off when I got in touch. I felt like she was leading me on and because of all the frustration and every other emotion I had I told her that I am not sure if we can be friends not just because of how I felt but because how she treated me. I thanked her for our time, apologized for the things I knew I fucked up and said what I still thought about her which she didn't read and probably never will.
Unfortunately, our friendship ended. It's really hard to cut ties with someone you appreciate and have strong feelings for but it had to be done because of one simple fact- after four months of poor conversation where I couldn't get an answer to anything, wasn't asked anything and haven't had even a "hey how are you" I realized that it wasn't something that would change over time. For what ever reason this person no longer saw me as a friend, maybe not even as a friendly stranger.
The ugly
There was a lot of ugly in the 2017. I wasn't taking care of myself properly, I neglected my dog for years and was trying to make up for it now that I was back in my home town but out of my frustration I failed to realize that I was still not providing him with enough love. Because of all the pain I felt because of the losses I suffered I started going out because being surrounded by the positivity, parties and dancing my shit away made me feel great. Apart from that I was panicking. I am working a full time job, started my studies again and the exams were getting ever so close. I had to go to as many parties as I could because it was now or never. Boy was I wrong.
I noticed that I shared an approach that many of us have and that in Serbian is best illustrated with the following expression "Majmun se uvek hvata za najblizu granu". My head was so up my own ass that I started thinking short term because the only thing that mattered to me was for ME to feel great NOW. After a month of outing I realized what I was doing and started slowing it down and focusing on the things that were actually a priority in my life.
The good(awesome actually)
I've realized I have 5 friends that would go above and beyond for me and they actually proved it to me with actions. I can't remember the exact date however it was a day when a lot of the bad from above happened and I believe it was just a few days apart from an argument I had with my partner at the time. One of my best friends called me, noticed that I was a bit off and asked me what was up and I straight up told him that I felt like shit and doubt that anything could make me feel any better. Within two hours he got in touch with 4 other of my friends, two of which were in Belgrade, and got them all to come to my apartment and play a board game I was dying to play. One of my friends actually went out from work, rescheduled a lot of his other obligations and came whilst another tried, but failed, to organize an outing in Belgrade. As I was in need of a good dance and a few drinks we went to one of the best parties I ever went to. While I had a few regrets about that day, one of which was that I didn't get to walk some doggos with my partner, it went to show that I truly had great friends.
I also stopped postponing things I want to do which is how I ended up to learning to play the piano, started traveling a bit more, saying people what I think and feel, exercising, joing a humanitarian organization and much more.
I also recently saw some work my ex partner did on Instagram, three to be exact. The first and second one were in my search feed and the third was her picture being featured on another account and that made me excited and happy. I am not sure but would love to think that not every post gets in the search featured posts and am happy that other people are recognizing her talents. It made me happy that I was just able to appreciate her work and that that was all I felt, just being proud and happy.
I came to a realization that we are all good and bad. We can all be amazing and we can all be douchebags. That's life. Sometimes it is your fault, sometimes you do things that simply lead to other things happening.Don't dwell on things unless you can learn from your past and don't be too proud to apologies, to reach out and to try do some good because it usually doesn't hurt. Just because we make mistakes that can hurt others doesnât mean we are bad people, what we do after that mistake is what makes that determination.
The craziest celebrities are the ones that stay at the tip of our minds even after we see their last breath of day. Now that times have changed and we notice a different side of the music business, the harsh reality is musicians must consistently be seen doing unthinkable acts by the paparazzi to be relevant in the game. Even introverts like The Weeknd need to show their faces every once in a while, or they will quickly be forgotten in favor of an artist that can party hard. The lifestyle of red carpet events, drugs, groupies and scandals can only last for so long. A few of the most infamous party animals such as Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers had to put it to rest. The other side of a musicianâs lifestyle is most of the time represented by rappers, rock artists, and R&B singers dishing out lyrics about being in the VIP at a club or waking up the next morning not remembering what happened the night before. Most fans are expecting them to live up to the expectation and if not, they are considered boring. Who wants to pay $100 concert ticket to watch a dull artist? What we see on TV rarely matches the reality of these entertainersâ finances. Yes, we see the fancy mansions, decked out cars, a Rolex on the right arm or diamond grills in their teeth but it is only a small percentage of the truth. Letâs say it together everyone; music â business. Eighty percent is business, and twenty percent is what we enjoy as entertainment. It means the money can come quick like a train but might also disappear as fast as a one-hit wonder.
#1 Rihanna â Was $9 Million In Debt Rihanna is the epitome of pop star success. She is exotic, talented, funny, two-dimensional and has a net worth of $160 million. While the âWork, Work, Workâ artist has wooed the hearts of fans worldwide, Rihanna has also run into cash flow problems in 2009. It does not come as a surprise because this was around the time she was in an abusive relationship with her then-boyfriend Chris Brown. Despite this fact, Miss Robyn Fenty pointed fingers at her accountant, alleging that he gave her terrible financial advice leading to her being $9 million in the hole. How can this happen, you ask? Letâs see. When Rihanna was dating, Chris Brown the both were in and out of night clubs as they fell in love, popped bottles and promoted themselves as artists. As a native Bajan (Barbadian), Rihanna is a jet setter that quite often visits her hometown. We also need to add that her best friend Melissa Forde has been a part of her entourage, traveling with Rihanna almost everywhere she goes. I doubt she is helping RiRi pay for first class flights and trips around the world while she is on tour. Nonetheless, most of her money went to purchasing a $7 million property that her accountant told her was okay to buy despite her over the top expenses. Weâre rooting for you RiRi! We know you can keep pumping out hits to make up for your loss. A lesson to learn here is no matter how your romantic relationship can get, put the same effort into making sure that you donât overspend.
#2 Ozzy Osbourne â Owed $1.7 Million In Taxes, Bought a Chicken Coop Ozzy Osbourne was at the height of his career in the 1980s when his album Blizzard of Oz went multi-platinum. He was energetic, fun, crazy; a natural born leader before and after he left his group The Black Sabbath. If you felt entertained while watching his MTV-reality show The Osbourneâs in the early 2000s, you could tell that the rock star persona was still in him despite having two children and a wife. Despite the family oriented/dysfunctional vibes on the show, there is one thing that Ozzy couldnât resist while in his 20s, and that was quote on quote, partying like a rock star. He even has a single on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer soundtrack named âParty with the Animals.â What exactly does that mean? Iâll fill you in on the examples: His previous wife named Thelma Riley started to have enough of his partying. She went as far as buying a chicken coop, leaving him responsible for feeding his chickens at night. To show his wife he was unable to be tamed, he lit the coop on fire while shooting a gun. I can only imagine what she was going through. Thankfully enough, later on in life when Ozzy had financial troubles he and his current wife Sharon Osbourne pulled through and paid $1.7 million in back taxes. Now, thatâs what I call a success story!
#3 Andrew W.K. â Blew All His Money Partying, But Smartened Up Andrew Fetterly Wilkes-Krier (aka Andrew W.K.) is a musician, music producer and songwriter who made popular hits such as âWe Want Funâ and âParty Hard.â Not to say that Ozzy Osbourne had anything to do with his financial shortfall but Andrew was a headliner for Ozzyâs annual music festival called Ozzfest in 2001. A few of Andrewâs hit songs including âItâs Time to Partyâ were used in video games in addition to commercials. Wow! He must have been racking in a lot of money. Andrew W.K. considers himself to be a professional partier with no grasp of managing his finances. He has admitted to spending most of his money on partying because of hearing negative phrases from friends such as âmoney is the root of all evilâ as he was growing up. Later, in life, a wise person in his circle told him that money could be good and bad. It depends on how people use it. As Andrew reminisced on the past, he thought about how he could have achieved more goals if he had handled it correctly. This guy might seem like an airhead because of the titles of his hit songs, but he came to realize that if you are poor, there is no way you can help other people and began spending his money more wisely on his family. What is the moral of Andrewâs story? Be weary of people that have bad money habits and beliefs that will make you think that money is negative.
#4 Puff Daddy (aka Sean Puffy Combs) â Has Had Artists Claim He Stole Their Money It seems that Puff Daddy has the world at his fingertips. Starting as an intern with Uptown Records after dropping out of Howard University turned out quite well for him. He is infamous in Miami for throwing all-white parties, and if you search his name with the word party, Google Image pages will tell the rest. Although the late Notorious B.I.G. is no longer with us, Puff Daddy helped birth the careers of many artists including French Montana, Mase, Bow Wow and the list goes on. Besides music, he made a smart decision to diversify his portfolio and opened a restaurant in 1998 located in the hot city of Atlanta called Justinâs, which is the name of one of his sons. In 2009 the IRS searched high and wide for Puff Daddy for a slightly over $7,000 back tax check for the restaurant. As a business man that always appears to be well dressed and so eloquent with his words, how can anyone miss that? Well, we all know that Puffy is known for partying and after popping bottles in the club for too many nights, forgetting to pay taxes for a business that is in another state can happen to anyone. Aside from his restaurant, there have been many of his artists that have come out of the woodwork admitting that Puffy cheated them out of money from music albums. The artists include the rap group The Lox, R&B singer Carl Thomas, and âWhoa!â Hit rapper Black Rob. No matter what Puffy is going through, the right thing to do is pay his artists for their hard work.
#5 Lindsay Lohan â Couldnât Stay Away from the IRS or Jail Sheâs back! Yes, Lindsay Lohan is back in tinsel town. Not on the Hollywood scene but she pops up occasionally, in the news stories. Most know her for being an actress, but she is also a singer with four albums. I remember her as the innocent Disney star with bright red hair. I thought she was going to maintain the girl next door image. In the mid-2000s right before her career started to take a downturn, Lindsay would show up to movie sets late, became friends with Paris Hilson was pictured with Snoop Dog in the club and was proud of her behavior so much that she had a cameo in Pharrell Williams music video Everybody Knows. An infamous song about crazy things that happen at night clubs. Like Puff Daddy, the IRS came looking for her when she owed $250,000 in 2012 after she went bankrupt. After finding out that she had no plans to pay up, the IRS stopped her assets. Surprisingly enough, her celebrity friend Charlie Sheen helped her out with $100,000. Four years later it seems that her partying ways remain. We can at least say that she was close to being domesticated; she was recently engaged to a Russian Billionaire heir named Egor Tarabasov, later breaking up with him for his violent behavior. Well, it is never too late to get back on your feet Lindsay. One of the points we can learn from her story is there is nothing wrong with being a good girl. They usually last longer in their career and make better financial decisions.
#6 George Clinton â Lost All His Money To Financial Advisers What is the first thing you think about when you hear the name, George Clinton? If you ask me, I reflect on the multi-colored dreadlocks and the party lifestyle that baby boomers would tell me about when they reminisce on their musical favorites. He had a good time performing with his bands Parliament and Funkadelic and earned the respect of the great James Brown. As he was traveling the globe with his band, taking part in some of the best parties while brushing shoulders with celebrities, he failed to pay attention to the little details of his compensation from the record label that he deserved. George went on the record to say that he earned less money than his fans thought. He had no idea that his business partners and managers took ownership of the publishing rights to all his music. If he played his cards right, he could have retired earlier on in life. Owning the publishing rights to hit music means receiving a check every month in the mail. In 1984 Mr. Clinton, unfortunately, filed for bankruptcy to avoid an economic mess. On a more positive note, George Clintonâs last day on tour in 2016 is on December 31 in Las Vegas. He also has a book that was published in 2014 out right now called âBrothas Be, Yo Like George, Ainât That Funkinâ Kinda Hard on You? A Memoir.â Who knows? With all the tours, he had lined up this year and his book; thereâs a possibility that he can get himself back in the green.
#7 Allen Iverson â Thankfully Will Get $30 Million When He Turns 55 Allen Iverson wore many hats as an NBA player including being a rapper. It is common as a matter of fact for most athletes to want to step into the studio. I once asked one of my NBA obsessed friends what happened to Allen Iverson? Nothing had me more prepared than watching a documentary on Netflix of him called Iverson. He had a whirlwind of media scandalâs, and it doesnât help that his cornrows (at a time when they werenât a favorite of the NBA), and his thug-life persona was intimidating to society, although he was known as being one of the top shooting guards ever to live. Allen Iverson lived a lifestyle behind the scene like most American athletes. He partied a lot, and the money gave him a bit more pep in his step to the point when he thought he could say controversial comments to the press and get away with it. Sources state that he made up to $200 million throughout his career, mostly from his endorsement deals. In addition to fancy jewelry, real estate, and fast cars it started to override his fame and when the day came that the courts garnished his bank account, it was a life awakening event. He opened his statement and noticed a $900,000 deficit for payment towards jewelry. Out of all the organizations that he can thank for an opportunity is Reebok. He apparently has a $30 million trust with the shoe company that will become available the minute he turns 55 years old.
#8 Amy Winehouse â Did Not Have a Will Amy Winehouse had a heart full of soul, broke boundaries of what jazzy rhythm and blues looked like, lived her life like a rock star and her meltdown was captured by media for the world to see. Even until today, new artists from the UK mimic her singing style to continue the legacy of Miss Winehouse. Before she died, Amy was married to Blake Fielder, who many blame her excessive partying and drug addiction due to the emotional abuse that he imposed on the creative songstress. Shortly after they got married, we started to see a different Amy Winehouse. After a crazy night of partying, the paparazzi caught her walking barefoot around London town. She was drastically losing weight because of her drug addictions. Her voice was taking a toll and news outlets publicized that her performances including the one in Dubai in February 2011 were a disappointment. Her estate was said to be worth over ÂŁ4 million which equals $6.7 million in US dollars. However, with her additional debts and taxes that needed payment, the most disappointing part of this story is she did not write up a will before she left to give what was left over to family and loves ones. At the end of the day from a financial perspective Amy Winehouse lost out big time; when our time to go comes we canât take the money with us which means the tax man and other non-family sources took over what she worked so hard for.
#9 Luke Campbell â Thought He Was Too Cool For The IRS If you donât know about Luther Campbell, get ready to learn today. Luther is infamous for making hit music (that in my opinion) started the campaign of booty shaking songs all over the world in the early 1990s. If you think misogynistic music is bad now, imagine how much it was not accepted back, then. The lyrics in his music stirred controversy and hereâs how it happened. In 1989 he was in a group called As Nasty As They Wanna Be and a hit single on the album caught the attention of the American Family Association (AF) leading to court visits for making obscene music. Now to get back to the topic, Luther Campbell was the Jamie Foxx of our time throwing over the top parties with women in itty-bitty swimsuits with rappers, R&B singers, rock stars and their entourages all in one house. Although he is known for starting a musical trend that brought him millions of dollars, he had to pay off legal fees for his raunchy lyrics and was also unable to pay the IRS $74,000 in taxes in 2012. To go back in history, his record label Luke Records went into bankruptcy. At the end of the day, Luther now works a few jobs as a Miami New Times writer and is the coach for a Pee Wee football team. What can we learn from Lukeâs story? Watch your words, actions and what you write. It might offend someone and if you decide to cross the line, make sure it is timely. Breaking the mold in a traditional industry might sound genius but give it time and break down barriers when the time is right.
#10 Lil Wayne â Spends $55,000 a Month on a Jet Lately, Lil Wayne has been in the tabloids more for his lifestyle versus his legacy of making epic music. He is one of the few mainstream rappers that was good enough to sit in on an interview with Katie Couric in 2009 on her talk show named Katie. Wealthy Millennials in the suburbs flocked to his skateboard riding persona even though his lyrics about being ghetto fabulous were not even close to their reality. The one thing that Lil Wayne or his public relations team canât deny is the man partied more than a DJ. He has even spent $30,000 at Diamonds club in less than 3 hours. A $30,000 donation to an organization for in-need families would have been a better expenditure! Nonetheless, the stories about his career with Cash Money Records were leaked, his $55,000 a month jet and $30 million worth of fine art in his Miami Beach castle were re-possessed. I need to add that he also owes $2 million to a company named Signature Group, and is still in financial dispute with Cash Money Records owner Birdman for money from previous albums he hasnât received. My goodness. I hope that Lil Wayne figures it out or gives us another great album to take care of his situation. The lesson today from Lil Wayneâs lifestyle is to curb expensive addictions and pay attention to the small details of money you spend. Partying is a luxury, but when the year ends, and you have nothing to show for, the only person you can hold accountable is yourself.
#11 James Hetfield â Wasted Money on Drugs and Alcohol Forcing Them To Keep Working If you have a debate with your friends about the best rock band ever to exist, Metallica might end up in the conversation. This group has traveled to perform in all the great cities worldwide. North America loves a lifestyle train wreck to success story no matter who it is, and it helps even more if you are a musician. James Hetfield admitted to cleaning up his act after a long time of drinking excessive alcohol and being addicted to extracurricular drugs. In 2001 he became sober and got his life back on track. Woo hoo! Even an alcoholic with a resilient liver canât fight off the way it impairs your mind, lessens the number of brain cells to improve memory and makes you make irrational decisions. James and the group hired staff they could not afford and were unable to keep up with an entertainment corporation. Because of the mishaps, Metallica cannot retire; they have to tour every summer to make up for the loss. They tried to create a movie, but unfortunately, the film Through the Never flopped. It was over budget, and if successful, it could have helped them out with a chunk of their debt. As one of the thought to be richest bands in the world, James has a lot of work ahead of him. To all of the upcoming rockers reading this story. Do your best not to let this happen to you.
#12 The Goo Goo Dolls â Made $0 Off Album Another fete passionate group, the Goo Goo Dolls, made our list. While we wish they had a better story ending with the success of their musical catalog, it looks like fun parties and keeping up with the Joneses was one part of the business this band couldnât resist. More recently in 2013, Johnny Rzeznik, the lead man in the group stopped drinking. He told CNN âI quit drinking. And that lightened up my perspective on the world quite a bit⌠I think our last album was a bummer. But the only way out is to go through, so that was going through. And now weâre out on the other end.â In the 1990s the band sold over 2 million albums while under contract with Warner Bros. Even after the Goo Goo Dolls owed Warner Bros. money, the record label was kind enough to give them an advance after completing the Dizzy Up the Girl album in 1998. Until this day, none of the members have seen one penny of royalties from earnings for the album. It makes full sense that the strategy for the record label to request an album was to recoup the money. We would think that the three members learned from their partying ways back in the day, but more recently they surround their performances around parties. The moral of Goo Goo Dollâs story: a rock star lifestyle can be a reality without doing things to destroy your life. In your twenties and thirties you can catch up, but if youâre forty years old in the business with no assets to your name, you may have to start all over again.
#13 Courtney Love â Walked Away From Nirvana Collection When I think of Courtney Love, my mind turns to Kurt Cobain, plastic surgery and her love for the nightlife. Her first music video I can remember on MTV made me believe that she had what it took to be the next Madonna or being respected much like her counterpart (back then) Gwen Stefani. Whether it was her personal issues or the death of her late husband Kurt Cobain, she was the talk of the town and not for the right reasons. If you are thinking that she was caught a few times in her past for being tipsy, it is 2016 now, and she ended up booted out of a Guns Nâ Roses party at Coachella for drinking too much. Who gets tossed out of a rock stars party? That means she was acting out more than a male pop artist that will get a pat on the back for his behavior. It is a belief that she is worth $150 million but letâs not get ahead of ourselves. She made $27 million of Nirvanaâs estate disappear; apparently, she inherited this money in 2006 after her husband died. When interviewed by the Business Insider about this she said that she âhad to let it go.â If she was sober when she made this decision, her daughter Frances Bean owns the Nirvana music catalog, and after turning 40 years of age, she will be the board member of the Empire. Note to self, never make a child responsible for an estate. While this sounds like a good way to create generational wealth, you have no idea how your son or daughter will turn out. Five percent of the Estate looks good. Twenty-five percent of the estate, even better, but be ready to groom them for the responsibility before the time comes.
#14 Busta Rhymes â Forgot To Pay His Taxes Busta Rhymes had the swag to become the next Snoop Dog. His dreadlocks, tough guy stare, heavy build and Jamaican accent in some of his songs were loved by many. If we count down the top 20 rappers of all time, he will end up on the list. We donât know if it was his fast rapping style or his fearless New York mindset, he couldnât shake off the nightlife. Busta Rhymes music played at night clubs, weddings, and birthday parties. It didnât take rocket science to realize at the beginning of his career that he will carry out his lively personality we see in his music videos in night clubs in New York, and major cities he would perform in. Much like the other artists in my article, Busta forgot to pay his taxes on time owing more than $800,000. He even dedicated partying in a rap song featuring Zhane named âItâs a Partyâ in 1996. In 2015 at an after party for the BET awards, Busta ended up being in a club where a shooting took place. He was with rappers Meek Mill, The Game, and T-Pain. Also, he is the life of the party so much that fashion designer Alexander Wang called him on stage at his after-party in September 2012. When a successful fashion designer invites you to a party, you know you made it in life. Busta is also a good time Charlie with prim and proper celebrities. In 1997 the cookie cutter Martha Stewart took pictures with him on the red carpet at the MTV Music Awards.
#15 Tupac Against the World â Was Worth $40 Million But Died With Under $100,000 When you are an artist signed to a music label named Death Row Records it is probably a part of your contract to live out the life of a real gangster. Tupac Shakur was a man of many faces; besides the one we know the most, he was an activist, critic of politics, and an avid reader of the sciences. That is not bad for a gangster rapper! At the same time, Tupac had his share of run-ins with the law and had no choice but to live up to the thug life image with a boss like Suge Knight. He was conflicted between being a simple man or pursuing a new career. Before the end of his demise, Tupac Shakur wanted to turn his skills that he learned as an actor in Gridlockâd (co-starring the British actor Tim Roth) into working in front of the big screen. There are many theories out there as to why he is dead; Tupac wanted out of Death Row Records to change careers or the hip hop beef with the Notorious B.I.G. At the end of the day, the most shocking part of his lifestyle is he died with only $60,000 in the bank. Say what? How can a man with a net worth of $40 million die with less than a $100,000 to his name? Hereâs the answer. As much as he was an intellectual, Tupac loved late nights at the nightclubs. Before he passed, he was engaged to music producer Quincy Jones daughter Kidada Jones, but before then he enjoyed the presence of female groupies. His assets such as his beautiful rental house in the Kardashians hometown of Calabasas was taken care of by Suge Knight and his fancy Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz and BMW on rims were all owned by Mr. Knight as well.
