#this is the first time I've heard this line done as Cyrano himself being completely sold on the idea that he & Christian are one man

#that 'so I am' is as if he's seeing his own face from an out-of-body experience

#& then comes crashing back down into it & is trying to reconcile that feeling w the fact that they are actually separate beings

#despite what he's convinced Roxane (& himself)

#or merely that the fantasy of getting to wear Christian's face as his mask/interpreter came dangerously close to reality

#& now he feels as if he has to go back to being himself. to return Christian's face to him. which he'll use to go up to Roxane to kiss her.
