Hope your end of year has been lovely, so far! I can personally say that I gravitated towards your inbox because your responses to people’s asks are very friendly and chatty, you have such nice responses about your fandom takes. (Also, that was after I followed your blog, for your Pokémon x Wind Breaker AU posts). Fandom is what a person makes of it and you make the fandom brighter, imo. (I hope that wasn’t weird, I just like chatting with you about wind breaker).
Today I ask you about your favorite characters and what you like about them? My personal favorites in Wind Breaker are Tsubaki and Suo. I absolutely love the entirety of Tsubaki’s backstory, as I’ve mentioned before in another ask, and I love how he’s just so unapologetically himself despite the difficulties he faced in his past. His character is the definition of coming to love oneself and as someone who has read all kinds of shounen for years, Tsubaki’s character arc and how Nii-sensei handled it cemented Wind Breaker as one of my top 10 series of all time. Nii-sensei broke so many shounen tropes with Wind Breaker, but Tsubaki’s character arc definitely left me in awe.
I also saw in your recent posts that you’re a fan of Fire Emblem! Any faves from that, or particularly games? I got Engage as a gift but haven’t gotten to play it yet; I did play Fates, Awakening, and Three Houses though! (My all time favorite best boy is Ashe from 3H. He is the sweetest best boy.)
sincerely, Wind Breaker Anon
(wow that was longer than intended, sorry 😅)
wind breaker anon, hi!! my end of year has been very nice so far, and I hope the same is true for you!!
one, so happy to hear you came for the Pokemon AU and stayed for my nonsense. two, I do try to be kind in my replies, even when I don’t agree with the person. like, I’m respectful so long as the other person is, too, y’know? fair’s fair, and all that. three, I am FLATTERED that you think I make the fandom brighter, that is literally the nicest thing I’ve ever heard 💙💙💙 please know you definitely make my fandom experience brighter, too, it honestly makes my day when I see I got an ask from you.
as for favorite characters, I have a three-way tie for first: Sakura, Togame, and Tsubaki! Tsubaki actually because of really similar reasons to yours. He’s such a breath of fresh air in the shounen genre, and I am so, so happy with how he’s developed as a character and his interactions with the rest of the cast. also his character design is so stinkin’ pretty, i adore his hairstyle and the girls’ furin uniform he I guess made himself? also like. this is just a me thing. I like that he’s tall and broad-shouldered. usually if you have a feminine-presenting guy in anime they’re short and skinny and really just. androgynous? so I think a lot of people irl don’t relate to them, whereas tsubaki absolutely has more traditionally masculine features and still happily dresses as he does. I think that’s neat
Togame is… i just like him a lot 😅 he’s entertaining as an antagonist, then just delightful when he comes back as an ally. his devotion to choji is so inspiring, and i love the extra bits we’ve learned about him from nii-sensei’s notes. like he’s just an old man in a young body and he’s great.
I think sakura I’ve talked enough about lmao. He’s a wonderful MC, stellar design, great development. he’s a tsundere. what more could I ask for?
omg you’re a fire emblem fan too!!! hell yeah!! I got into fire emblem when awakening came out (previously my only exposure to the games was Super Smash Bros. and I really liked Ike for whatever reason) and just. fell head over heels for the game mechanics and the characters. I’ve played everything that’s come out since then (fates, three houses, warriors, three hopes, engage, and the mobile game heroes because I’m insane). asking me to pick favorites for that is… hard. like my forever favorites are probably Chrom, Lon’qu, Cordelia, Frederick, Lucina, Morgan, Inigo (Awakening), Silas, Jakob, Azura (Fates), Dimitri, Claude, Sylvain, Petra, Dorothea, Hilda, Ashe (Three Houses) and Diamant (Engage).
Also! huge fan of the protag characters, Robin, Corrin, Byleth, and Alear. Awakening is near and dear to my heart, and as much as I love Three Houses it’s probably my favorite game. I’ll never forget the way I felt when the ending cut scene with Chrom and Lissa played for the first time, god, I was a mess
Which is. Way more than you asked for. But if you get me talking about fire emblem I will literally never stop, sorry about that
#king’s court#wind breaker#fire emblem#I am. so sorry wow#that got way way out of hand 😅#don’t worry about a long ask because I will undoubtedly send you an even longer reply#also I would go into why I like each fe character but. I think this is too long already lmao

i have a proposition to make to the fire emblem fandom in regards to ai bullshit: we makalov the face of the anti-ai movement depending on how different systems are set up, be it for those who write, those who draw, etc, there are likely ways to rig the system to overload the systems with specific things which is why i suggest we use makalov for this those who have played the tellius duology know he isnt exactly the greatest guy, and also know that mod goldmary seems to be the exception not the rule when it comes to how people view him as a character, so when people try to cheat by using stolen work feed to an ai to create some garbage about fire emblem? they can never escape that piece of shit no matter how hard they try, they'd be lucky if they even see marth no idea if it still applies but i know tumblr had it set up where each specific blog and side blog needed to go into settings to disable ai feeding, if that is still the case then it should be easy to just create a side blog just for the purposes of fucking with the systems when it comes to art just go nuts, don't have any specific things aside from putting so much makalov dna into the system that it thinks fire emblem lords have pink hair instead of blue, maybe purposefully fuck up the hands and other limbs and whatnot so they can never fully fix that issue meanwhile for writing, oh boy i got ideas, smut writers this is your time to shine! make the most nasty vile shit imaginable(while still being legal ofc just gross) and always include makalov in it, heck maybe mess the system up by ruining the lore on purpose and putting him in games he's not supposed to be in, want to have an ai write a fanfiction about awakening? too bad you lazy sack of shit you'll never escape this pink haired horse man no matter what timeline you try seeing as the purpose of these writings is to mess up any bot trying to create fanfiction this also means those who are horrible when it comes to writing can also join in! purposefully misspell and misuse words, throw proper grammar out of the window, and act like this is just how human language naturally works! also those who are good at writing can also purposefully not write good, though as a writer myself i know that is easier said then done at this point, it isn't meant to be posted to your main accounts but rather an extra expendable account just made for the purposes of ruining ai for fire emblem, or if we're lucky ai in general! tl;dr: it would be really fucking funny if this wretched bastard of a man named makalov became known for being the anti-ai symbol of the fandom
Terrible idea. There's already hundreds of thousands of fe images and fanfics in their database, a few pieces of makalov art and fics will not change much. Also making stuff specifically to ruin ai is just not a smart idea. Make something bc you enjoy it instead.
I know you mean well, but please do proper research before you suggest something like this :(
If you really wanna troll with makalov, then join the makasweep for cyl9 and vote for makalov!

Rank the Star Trek captains based on whether or not they're expert road trippers
Archer - He tries. So hard. He burns a CD mixtape to listen to and rents a huge RV that only kind of works. He plans out a bunch of stops but "leaves room in the schedule for unplanned adventures :)" and then proceeds to not follow the plan at all and everything goes wrong. Actually, now that I think about it, Archer on a roadtrip would probably just mostly be the plot of the movie "RV."
Pike - He lets Una plan the stops and he METICULOUSLY plans the food. He and Una take a survey about what all their crew wants to see along the way and try so hard to integrate them all into the trip. He plays LOTS of car games, like Eye Spy or that one game where you count animals on your side of the vehicle until you see a graveyard and have to start over or that other game where you describe a movie plot badly and everyone has to guess what it is. He lets Uhura control the music and Spock read the map and Ortegas drive. The plan for the trip goes off the rails, of course, but everyone ends up having a blast anyway. Overall a SOLID roadtrip.
Kirk - Kirk takes everyone to see every single tourist trap they can find and, you know what? It's fun. Is the World's Largest Truckstop really all that special? No, but the memories they make there are. I also imagine his roadtrip largely takes place in Iowa and other parts of the Midwest so a lot of the trip is rolling cornfields. Overall not a terrible trip, if a little slow and nutty.
Picard - Due to being European, Picard's idea of a roadtrip is a little... different. The crew is a little confused as to why they are only doing about 3 hours of driving a day, but they do appreciate that it's through Wine Country, where the rolling hills are lovely. I imagine Picard plans a "themed trip" (wine tasting and touring) and Riker is the one to throw in the fun tourist traps they do end up visiting. Q is somehow at every single place they stop. Lwaxana is at a few of them too.
Sisko - Sisko takes everyone on a tour of the MLB baseball fields. He meticulously plans places to eat (mostly cajun places that he critiques as 'not as good as his dad's, but acceptable.') and fields to visit. In the meantime, Jadzia picks some more... colorful places to visit in the evenings. Different groups of people get lost but they always find each other. Everyone is a little wary of visiting baseball fields, but once they find out that it was Jake's idea to cheer his dad up, everyone acts like each field is the most fascinating thing they have ever seen. In the end, the trip is a little tedious, but they have all bonded over the solidarity of making Sisko feel better.
Janeway - Janeway drives through the middle of nowhere. Absolutely no cell signal ever. Google Maps will not work. They stop every hour or so to look at the sights. At several points, their van gets robbed and they have to craft new supplies as they go. They make some "road enemies" (other roadtrippers that get competitive about parking spots and camping areas and stuff) and get in several fights (that they win). They camp alongside the road instead of staying in hotels and it's kinda miserable but it builds a lot of relationships and character. Their van breaks down a lot but they always fix it themselves. B'Elanna ends up souping up the engine about 4 different times. In the end, they all get home pretty much dead on their feet, but the whole crew is planning the next road trip anyway.
Freeman - She has a schedule that no one follows and she yells about it a lot. The road trip keeps getting completely derailed. They absolutely do not hit any planned stops and they have to replace each of the van's tires 3 times. Good news, however, is that they got a GREAT sale on all the trinkets and stuff that they bought along the way so everyone is still having an okay time.
Dal - Barely has a plan. He basically piled everyone in a vehicle one day and started driving. They stop whenever they feel like it and do odd jobs to earn enough money to keep going. The end goal is to reach San Francisco by the end, but Dal has to keep them backtracking for various reasons and they're having a heck of a time understanding exactly how this brand-new Chevy Silverado with a fancy computer system that they accidentally stole works. Everyone has fun anyway, even though they are also kinda lowkey running from the cops.
Burnham - I don't honestly know enough about Burnham as a captain to say for sure but I think she and Saru would plan a pretty chaotic lil road trip that kinda jumps all over the country in a strange order. Lots of zigzags and backtracking and stuff. I think they have fun though?
FINAL RANKING:
1st Place - Pike
2nd Place - Kirk
3rd Place - Janeway
4th Place - Sisko
5th Place - Archer
6th Place - Burnham
7th Place - Picard
8th Place - Dal
9th Place - Freeman

That one time Fire Emblem Lied to its players [Fire Emblem: Three Houses Analysis]
Have a picture of Rhea, for no particular reason.
The Fire Emblem franchise is no stranger to games having multiple routes with various perspectives. FE Fates’ whole gimmick was about how Corrin’s view of the Hoshido & Nohr war changes depending on whom they chose to (potentially not) support; their Nohrian siblings, or/and the Hoshidans. And as a less-drastic example, Sacred Stones also has a choice midway through the story, in which picking Eirika or Ephraim as the main lord changes both the next few chapters and how the main antagonist is portrayed.
Meanwhile, even though Fire Emblem: Three Houses technically continued this tradition, unlike past games, it took the choice of making sure there would be no story branch with an unbiased view of the world, history, and events. As a result, we ended up with a game that, compared to previous entries, lies to its players.
Why Three Houses of all games got hit with this treatment? Well, that’s exactly what I’m set to show everyone here, so sit tight, and grab a drink and a snack or something, because to understand this, we first need to talk about Biased Storytelling.
What even IS Biased Storytelling?
In the context of Three Houses and this analysis, I refer to “biased storytelling” as the narrative technique in which the story’s perspective is so rooted in the chosen faction, that it impacts the perspective taken of its events.
Toshiyuki Kusakihara, Three Houses’ director, alludes to it in a 2020 Nintendo Interview, making clear this was a deliberate choice from his end:
Kusakihara: For me, I think games are a way to simulate a world and its story as if the player were experiencing it themselves. I’m personally the type of person that gets absolutely sucked into things like movies and games. I tried setting up a prank using how the game itself is structured: the player would go through the game once and really experience the world, then they’d talk about it with someone else and be like, “we played the same game right? Why are we talking about two different things?” I thought that it might be interesting where even if you picked the same house as somebody, your experience could differ from somebody else’s based on who you recruited. You might even say to yourself, “hey, I didn’t even see that scene!”
With just this decision, Three Houses became free to have each of its plots tackle whatever ideas it wanted. And with no golden/true route on sight, players became forced to make sense of everything themselves, pin-pointing every potential detail which could explain notorious divergences and similarities between narratives.
Accomplishing this does come with many challenges. Through understanding what the game does to make each story feel different though, one detail of its writing stands out:
It’s all about Perspective:
3 nations. 3 future rulers. 4 perspectives.
Perspective is, simply put, Three Houses’ main bread and butter. In spite of heavily recycling its content whenever possible, it’s what ultimately makes each route feel different from one another. Silver Snow and Verdant Wind for example, might be infamous for sharing a good chunk of story beats and maps ‘til the near end, but neither of them feels the same in terms of themes and perspective as a result, more so with the titular supporting cast each story features.
To set up its various perspectives, the narrative did the following:
First, it had the story take place in a world with a vast history.
Second, it had a particular character (Byleth) act as an audience surrogate.
And third and most importantly, context on the world & events was provided by characters who have unique backgrounds and strategic roles in the setting. Most notably: Rhea; Edelgard; Dimitri; and Claude (there are also a few auxiliary ones like Sothis which do contribute to this cornucopia of POVs though), some of which are route exclusive.
I simply cannot stress how much Rhea and the House Leaders’ involvement in the plot colors things for players. One of the better examples where their differences are exposed in full is arguably Chapter 5: Tower of Black Winds.
As a brief recap: In it, Rhea assigns Byleth & their class the task of eliminating Miklan - disowned son of House Gautier - and his gang, who had recently stolen a Hero Relic. Prior to the mission itself, Blue Lions and Golden Deer introduces the player supporting figures that played key roles in the chosen House Leader’s past: Rodrigue for Dimitri; and Judith for Claude (for those wondering, no equivalent exists for Edelgard in Black Eagles).
Then the Miklan mission happens and… Let’s just say people have thoughts about it:
To break things down, in all routes:
Sothis is puzzled by the whole thing, and feels she has seen the demonics beasts before…
Meanwhile, Rhea believes Miklan deserved to get screwed over. After all, unlike Byleth, he was not chosen nor deemed worthy of wielding their crest and Hero Relic. Also, she tells Byleth to keep Miklan’s transformation a secret to prevent mass hysteria.
Meanwhile, the House Leaders - whom the player gets only in certain routes - are the ones who truly make things interesting:
Even though both Edelgard and Dimitri agree that Crests shouldn’t hold so much importance, each one’s solution to the issue provides a clear image of how they see the world and how much they ideologically contrast one another, and their thoughts on Miklan’s predicament as well hint at their different backgrounds and past experiences. Then we have Claude, who by contrast is unfamiliar with Crests - not unlike Byleth* - and discloses nothing about his dream or, in other words, “his ideal world”, only confiding it’s something only connections and power can achieve.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is quite exactly where the heart of Three Houses’ deceit lies. More conventional stories wrestle with the fact they need to provide information about the world which must be accepted as fact, which is where the act of exposition comes in, usually from an ally or from some character well versed in the setting. Conversely, others like Three Houses blatantly lie to its players by simply having their characters provide exposition based on what they realistically know about the world they’re in, and how their backgrounds color the perception of the events witnessed. At best they provide a good guide for understanding things but taking them at face value does come with a few risk.
*As a bit of an aside though, I do wanna drive attention to how Claude assumes double duty in Three Houses’s story (and ONLY Three Houses) in a way no one else does. Unlike Rhea, Edelgard and Dimitri, whom are very much familiar with Fódlan’s idiosyncrasies (sometimes, far more than they’ll let you know), Claude’s own unfamiliarity with Fódlan means he ends up working in practice as a second audience surrogate, and thus has his story be the most “lore exploring” narrative of all given how much of a driving force Claude’s avarice for the truth is, his biases aside.
Varying Knowledge on Events.
Moving onwards, one of the risks caused by the characters having realistic human knowledge is that understanding and perception of events wildly changes depending on the character relaying the information. Chapter 5 was a good case of this already, but another solid example can be seen in what happens to the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus post-timeskip outside Crimson Flower.
For context’s sake: one way or another, Dimitri is unable to assume the throne due to the Faerghus Dukedom being established by Cornelia, Faerghus’ Court Mage, and isn’t seen again for a long while.
My vague recollection of said events was done deliberately, and I feel the evidence below speaks for itself:
Both Seteth and Claude’s knowledge on Dimitri’s fate and how the Faerghus Dukedom came to be are very surface level. Meanwhile, Gilbert’s perspective is a lot more intimate, which fits since he was there when it all happened.
And on the note of characters being there when things happen-
Scenes (not!) shown to the Player
This one’s by far the most sneaky trick the writers pulled (and also more of a lie by omission than anything). I mean, If the player doesn’t choose the Black Eagles/Blue Lions/Golden Deer, it makes sense they’re not shown what Edelgard/Dimitri/Claude are up to respectively, yeah? But that comes with a consequence: the player misses scenes providing context for their actions and motivations.
Case in point: Dimitri’s whole vendetta against Edelgard. Outside of Blue Lions, Dimitri eventually develops an unhinged hatred against Edelgard, but the player is never shown its source. And all because the scene introducing this isn’t relevant to the story being told in those routes.
After Jeralt’s death in Chapter 9, in Black Eagles & Golden Deer, Alois visits Byleth in Jeralt’s room as they mourn their loss, giving the mercenary-turned-teacher some words of comfort. And in those routes, Edelgard and Claude get their own chance to do so in a early scene in Chapter 10 which is juxtaposed with TWSITD & the Flame Emperor having a villain moment™.
In Blue Lions however, Dimitri visits Byleth instead of Alois in Ch. 9. In turn, Byleth, instead of remaining mournful, does a walk at night the next day and finds Dimitri eavesdropping the whole conversation between TWSITD and Flame Emperor. This shows players what happens after the villain moment™ ends, and how Dimitri eavesdropping on it and getting the Flame Emperor’s dagger convinces him that Edelgard was the mastermind of the Tragedy of Duscur.
Also the moment where everything goes to hell for Dimitri.
The way the Blue Lions' version of the scene was handled also raises interesting implications when considering the timeline of events. Not only does it suggest Dimitri eavesdropping that moment is canon to White Clouds, but also that it’s purely through slightly different circumstances that the story allows it to be shown to Byleth (and by proxy, the player). And this is not even the only case - Crimson Flower for example, implies the explanation Rhea gives to Seteth about what Byleth truly is - in her eyes, that is - always happens even when the titular surrogate isn’t present where it takes place.
When even the lore is biased.
Finally, I want to wrap this up with the most elaborate and confusion-inducing stunt the game pulls to the player: The War of Heroes.
The tl;dr, as far the Church/Rhea claims - per Part 1, White Clouds - goes as follows:
Goddess bestows blessings and weapons to humans to fight evil.
Humans defeat evil.
Humans misuse blessings and grow corrupt.
Goddess is sad and leaves.
The Goddess’ prophet arrives, makes miracles, creates the Church of Seiros, co-founds the Adrestian Empire with Wilhelm I, and gives other humans - along with other fellow saints - Crests.
The Adrestian Empire expands, and fights Nemesis’ forces.
The War of Heroes happens.
Nemesis is slain in the Tailtean Plains.
Goddesses’ weapons are retrieved as the Ten Elites fall, and their clans are assimilated into the Empire.
War ends sometime later.
As for what took place in reality? the game provides us 2 POVs from 2 different sources:
Both perspectives share that the Church’s history records of the events were a textbook example of propaganda - yet also differ on one key area: the motive behind the war, which begs the question: What happened here?
Well, this is one of those things that I hinted that we would need to pierce ourselves as the game’s never upfront about it. Which means that, to make sense of everything, we have to take into account the evidence at hand the game gives us:
Rhea was there when the Tragedy of the Red Canyon happened, and knew her species was being killed and harvested for power by humans (which should not have known how to do what they did).
It’s well documented that Seiros and the Saints used their dragon forms against Nemesis’ forces in battle. Warrios: Three Hopes’ intro movie even shows a battle in which Seiros switches forms in the battlefield.
Wilhelm (The First) is the human that found Seiros after the slaughter and supported her fight with Nemesis. And as Edelgard’s claims, he did this knowing she was a dragon, and that her victory would subjugate humanity to her.
Part 1 is very unsubtle over how Rhea has a lot of secrets, to the point not even Seteth knows why she does things sometimes.
One of Abyss’ banned books heavily implies no one in Fódlan – sans a select few - know what a dragon is, when examining the bone composition of the Hero’s Relics…
Taking all evidence into account, it should be easy to grasp how Wilhelm the human, despite being one of Rhea’s biggest supporters versus Nemesis, ultimately ended up getting a completely different idea on the motives Rhea had for her whole crusade against the murderer of her kin. Understandably yet tragically so, all points out Rhea didn’t trust Wilhelm enough to tell him the truth of her cause, so she let him come up with his own conclusions. Conclusions, which later made their way into his descendants in secret, and eventually, to Edelgard.
But wait, what about the other faction involved in the war? Nemesis and co.? What was their take on the whole thing?
Well, we technically do know their POV, but it’s not openly discussed in the main story. Instead, it’s spread around in breadcrumbs in the game itself:
In short, not only Nemesis’ most important men were ignorant of his most heinous acts (or perhaps, it would be more accurate to say they didn’t perceive them as heinous?), when Nemesis found out Seiros was publicly framing him as a good man turned bad that needed to be put down for the greater good - all to rally allies for Wilhelm’s Empire - Nemesis’ ensuing statement was something that could be very well summed as the following:
Actually uncanny how this fits.
There are so many more examples that I want to bring out right now (both from Three Houses and Three Hopes), but I feel that by this point there’s not much left that hasn’t been said already. That is, other than the questions the whole Biased Storytelling stunt caused: Where does the truth lie when everyone is missing pieces of the puzzle? Can someone truly lie when they're unaware such missing pieces even exist? In a story, how canonical truly is the context not shown to the reader? Should one be allowed to know the circumstances of every important event in a story, even if it's irrelevant to the key narrative?

Megami Saikou
Name: Megami Saikou
Gender: Female
Class: 2-2
Club: Student Council
Persona: Lovestruck (Devoted)
Reputation:
Overall: +100
Liked: +100
Respected: +100
Feared: +100
Crush: ???
Strength: Invincible
__
I'm not entirely sure about how I feel about Megami. I think she might be kind of dull, but that's only via the fan content. She's widely known as the most beautiful rival, but that's all the art about her is. Either that or changing her race and whatnot (which I never understood, personally). I feel like too many people focus on how Megami looks and what they want her personality to be, instead of her general lore that makes up her character.
This is probably why, despite consuming so much YanSim content, I never knew much about Megami. I think that despite YanSim being such a dark story, the majority of the fandom being built up of minors keeps the interesting fan content to an unrealistically vanilla standard.
Enough about the fandom, though. Regarding game play, I think that during Megami's week, the Student Council will really be justified to be as threatening with everyone as they are with Ayano. Possibly even leaving them vulnerable to bullying, rumours, humiliation, and being fired. Much more beneath the cut.
I feel as though everyone knows that Megami and the Student Council could be on close terms, but I also feel like people constantly forget about how dark their relationship with her could be as well. As much as I'd like to touch up on that, I didn't add the student council up above due to having limited space and having the ability to touch up on them in their own post.
I think that each rival should have a different relationship with their suitor, and it shouldn't copy the whole "guy in love who will not talk to his crush without the help of the main character" schmuck that placeholds the matchmaking system currently. With this in mind and considering that Kaga (supposedly?) is already in contact with Megami's father, I think that it isn't too far off to believe that he's also in contact with Megami herself and is aware of her goals once she arrives in school. How he goes about his actions while knowing this information is a complete enigma to me, though. I feel like if I were to look at Kaga and Megami in a more romantic light, I'd say that the two of them are completely compatible, but only other vastly different circumstances. Without all the Ayano-loathing madness, Megami would probably come to terms with the fact that, psychotic or not, a smart guy is a smart guy, and a smart guy is her type. Additionally, considering Kaga's overall madness, I'm sure in his mind "a future as the head of Saikou Corp" has always been "a future with Megami", regardless if at first it was a romantic attraction or not.
Regarding Taro, I'm sure that regardless of his mental stability in the future game play, Megami's approach in this week would not be giving him a lunch, borrowing his book, or going on a date with him. If anything, her entire week might just be her standing buy him until club time, where she and the student council can have a meeting. Taro himself, after the events of the past nine weeks, feels obligated to some degree to comply with her. Hell, if not to assist in the capturing of a supposed psychopath, then at least to become the hero he couldn't be for any of the past victims. If Megami were to gain feelings for Taro, then she likely wouldn't act on them unless Taro was in a more stable mindset. But if that were the case, I feel like Taro would grow - if not suspicious, then confused of Megami's intentions after she went completely overkill just to confess to him in the end anyway. If he wasn't in a stable mindset, Megami would likely transfer him to a safe and stable school and environment in order for him to continue the rest of his life like normal. Or at least, as normal as a traumatized boy can get.
Ayano will be "assigned" a trusted member of the school (most likely a student council member or female) to watch her at all times. This could essentially force Ayano to kill her chaperone or force her to do a 100% friendly route- which might not even be available in Megami's week all things considered. Several other students (like surviving rivals and close friends of Ayano) will likely be followed for the sake of believability of Megami not targeting Ayano as well as wanting to keep others safe and away from suspicious material. I imagine that if Ayano has kept to a peaceful and friendly route throughout the whole game, even befriending everyone (maybe the SC included), Megami will be forced to tolerate Ayano and not treat her harshly since at that point all her feelings would have just been due to judging her ancestors' actions. This would work far better than Ryoba's game (good and bad ending included) because Ayano has never canonically killed anyone, and can 100% make a change in order to normalize herself and her kids for the sake of Taro. I also think that the only way to peacefully defeat Megami if the peaceful and friendly route was taken would be to snatch Taro's heart before she can.
Raibaru's case could possibly just be an oc-implemented case since regarding her canon information, her being attached to Megami wouldn't make any sense, but I'll still explain a tad bit to you lot anyway. In the story, a reason why Raibaru is so attached to Osana is because of a loss in middle school. Due to this and an oc, she's become suspicious of Ayano and still thinks that Osana's life is possibly at risk. Hence why she partners with Megami.

I still see fans use the glamrocks dismantlings against greg! which is crazy cuz the game makes us do it and we’re never faced with an alternative ever. It’s not like greg was presented with a faz wrench, realized he could reboot the bots, then turn around and said nahh. He had maybe 3-4 hours left on the clock and I doubt any kid could make a plan to reboot 3 violent robots while also worrying about vanny within that amount of time
Their dismantlings, while sad in ruin, feels like a cheap attempt at glamrock angst when the glamrock angst should’ve been focused on how FE treats/neglects their robots. Why are we blaming the child over the greed/carelessness of men that put him, and everyone else, in that situation? Sotm better pull through and show how evil big corporations are so fans can parallel it with FE smh
YEAH I've actually never really thought about that second part. I think that's actually why I was so miffed by it in ruin and it didnt hit, and I love the glamrocks so it really should have!! it felt too cheap and thrown in, like there wasnt any buildup. and jtop literally SAID in the john interview that they put in chicas rebeakening as fan service to be able to feel that satisfaction at fixing her. he pretty blatantly either said or implied idk which but pretty sure it's the former that it was so you could fix what Gregory had done, which is. kind of strange
I understand it from an outside player perspective, bc it's like everybody felt bad breaking them, but I feel like this wasnt the way to go about it, especially because Gregory himself was not even involved when they were being fixed. theres nothing about the actual situation being expanded upon, just one part being put back into place by the "kind" child to fix what the "other" child had done
I think that's why I was miffed by cassie and roxys relationship too and it didnt hit like Gregory and freddys. it felt so sanitized, like, the whole point of roxy is that she isnt at all what a perfect character for the brand would be like and shes insecure and mean and lashes out, but then as soon as cassie finds her under the forklift shes suddenly back to being a soulless entertainer robot that's nothing but kind? her voice acting LITERALLY turns robotic!! it's like her entire personality was stripped away for her to be more likeable, even if that wasnt the intention, and it just didnt make it feel genuine
that's what it feels like with 'fixing' chica too. theres no real genuineness to it, it's just slapping a bandaid on it and not talking about what really matters about the situation. PLUS in the process it just paints Gregory who's already in an atrocious light from another event from the exact same game in an even worse light, especially with how jtop implied it in the interview that he was the "bad" to Cassies "good".
it feels like less to actually make you care or think about chica being sentient trapped in this building and broken and STILL under the virus and just. heres a bandaid, hope you guys feel better about (gregory) breaking them! isnt cassie a sweetheart for doing this? (theres an unlike unsaid there)
no hate to cassie or anything /gen. I have zero problem with her, it's just how it all as a whole was handled. this feels like a mistake theyve been making a lot recently with focusing on the wrong things. not focusing on the sentient Fazbear ent characters and how they each dont fit into their boxes for one reason or another and instead just the "look roxy and cassie are friends and shes back to acting like her animatronic performer self and now you as the player get to experience satisfaction but nothing about the situation actually changes". it's like this with mimic too, where they keep focusing on the boring mortal parts of mimic of it just being an old ass rusty robot instead of the glitchtrap AI virus parts of it, which are the actual dangerous scary parts that make it feel powerful and hard to beat in any capacity
ur so right about the Fazbear ent stuff not being focused on enough, especially since it's one of the most prominent amazing storylines in sb!! Bonnie in ruin should have served that, but it didn't, it just added more kindle to the fire in our own minds to make the story better. they didnt actually talk about the implications of bonnie being there and dead and phased out but it's there. the implication is good enough I guess, but it's just another thing about how it could have been expanded upon. like cassie could have had a little dialogue putting it into perspective like "omg he was here the whole time? it looked like someone killed him! it's so unfair that they just phased him out like that :(" or something then boom, makes the player think about it
ur so right about all the things u said in ur ask about the "glamrock angst" instead of focusing on the actual sad parts of their story that are AMAZING. especially since they're framing them being broken as the most terrible worst thing to ever happen to them and the ONLY bad thing when it was done by Gregory and not the mistreatment and abuse from Fazbear ent that made Freddy abandon the place (bc of bonnie) which was done BY the company. its framing Gregory as being the bad one twice in the same game when he didnt need another player while Fazbear ent, who is already the culprit of the glamrocks story that isnt expanded upon enough, isnt emphasized so players only focus on Gregory breaking them as being their worst fates
#pandas.txt#pandas asks#thoughts#analysis#ruin#glamrocks#Gregory#discourse#that thing about roxy and cassie has been bothering me aince the game came out lol idk if ive ever talked about it

Part One | Part Two
In this chapter there will be two songs that will be attached when quoted.
The new teacher is pretty, tall, redheaded with perfectly cut shoulder-length, slightly wavy hair, sweet brown eyes, and always wearing high heels with a charming blazer. She also has a nice smile and soft spoken, especially when talking with Y/N, as she is doing while the girl tries to cut some broccoli on her plate without success, they slip off the fork every time, slipping to the other side as if they were purposely trying to escape. Unblinking, Alicia takes the cutlery from her hands as she continues to compliment her own students, and as if it were something normal or routine cuts the vegetables on the plate, small pieces are left, then she goes back to eating her Greek salad. Completely oblivious to the stares being thrown directly at her from across the common room, if she had noticed she would have realized the trouble she is getting herself into by staying on the radar of the other redhead, if eyes shot Melissa would have already killed her since she arrived at Abbott. Classes have been back for a couple of weeks, meaning it is still awkward working with the ex-wife, meeting her every day and acting like normal co-workers for the sake of the kids while the divorce papers are in process. The first days on the job were earlier, consisting of class councils and lesson plans, in this short time, the new fifth grade teacher, Alicia, approached Y/N the moment she found a seat vacant next to her, the former seat reserved for her. For years, even when they were not even a couple yet, the redhead had had it as her seat, next to Barb and her beloved at the same time. It was strangely painful to see that place being occupied by someone else, a knot formed in her stomach, Melissa tries not to admit the jealousy she feels when seeing Y/N and Alicia getting closer, renaming this feeling known as nostalgia and so it remains just for her ego. At the same time she is submerged by feelings of sadness and anger at seeing that place she so appreciated being occupied by someone else, simply because she is no longer there and was foolish to think it would remain empty. Yet she tries hard to keep composure around them and pretend she doesn't care what happens around her, but the feeling stays in her chest, rekindled by witnessing the scene in front of her as she enjoys lasagna. The hunger goes away and she can't eat another bite, a knot curling in the throat. Barbara laughs, putting a hand on her shoulder.
- You'll put a hole in their heads with your eyes, Mel. - she says, amused, while Melissa snorts and looks away. She knows her friend is joking, but still feels suddenly embarrassed, because Barbara knows the whole situation and that it is her fault, so she shouldn't be staring at them like that. Then stares at the floor, taking a deep breath, trying to calm down the feeling of guilt and shame. In another moment she would have fought back, joked about the situation, but the days have been melancholically overwhelming - Oh come on! You know I'm joking.
- I know.
- You still love her, you can't deny it. Why don't you go and talk to her? I'm sure the girl would listen to you. - Barbara continues in a whisper, looking directly at the other two teachers interacting as they finish their respective meals - You still care about each other, I can see and feel it.
- Bullshit! - she lets the bad word out, louder than expected, drawing the attention of everyone there, including the duo, she immediately regrets it and looks away, trying to act as if nothing happened. The teachers stare at each other for a few seconds and then return to their normal conversation - I lost my appetite.
Melissa snorts and closes the pot in which she brought her lunch a little harder than usual, then walks away without another word and avoiding looking at anyone, even Janine who seems to understand her and gives her a pained look. That's not what she wants, the only wish is to get rid of these persistent feelings that she has been fighting against since her cousin's wedding one month ago. While returning to the classroom, the redhead recalls that night of love in small involuntary memory flashes, every touch, kiss and mark she left on Y/N. She remembers how Y/N looked at her deeply full of passion, how they embraced each other tightly orgasm after orgasm, sweaty skin boiling with desire and the way their lips joined in a kiss so deep, so intense that they almost lost consciousness, because deep inside she knew this would be their last kiss. She remembers how complete she felt with Y/N in her arms, of watching her sleep and admiring the soft expression on her face as she slept with a small smile on the lips, as if all their problems had suddenly disappeared. Hopeful. And Melissa knew she couldn't give that to her only to disappoint later.
- Hey! - she hears someone calling her, in a few seconds Alicia reaches, Mel's phone is in her hands and the redhead smiles widely, this annoys the oldest one - You forgot it on the table. I was on my way to my classroom, so I thought I'd drop it off for you. - she explains, placing the phone in her hand and squeezing gently.
- Thank you, Miss Malone. - she pulls her hand away from the other woman and turns around, determined to go on her way, but is stopped by Alicia holding her arm gently - What?
- I don't know how to say this, but Barbara says you're very close to Y/N and can help me with something important. - the always extrovert girl turns into an embarrassed mess in a millisecond, blushing deeply.
- In what exactly? - Melissa sounds disinterested, covering up the disdain she feels for her showing more interest than usual in Y/N, but she can't let go of curiosity about what the other has to say. She turns completely around to look at Alicia, waiting for the continuation.
- Well, I want to ask her out on a date, but I have no idea what things she likes. So maybe a brunch in the park and then a comedy show? - Alicia rambles on, oblivious to Melissa's serious expression that realizes the teacher doesn't know they were married. - Or maybe breakfast on Sunday? - she adds, Schemmenti looks at her with incredulity. - What? - she asks, noticing the other woman's expression - Do you think it's a bad idea?
- No, it's not... - she says, still surprised in realization - It's a great idea, I just didn't expect you two to be so close. You're intimate? - Melissa asks, her voice full of curiosity with a hint of bitterness, then disguises her posture, as if she doesn't care and pretends to be willing to really help her, opening a fake smile when the newbie just nods negatively - But yes, I can help you. I know Y/N very well.
After Alicia, the teacher can consider herself a great actress, in a matter of seconds she pretended enthusiasm inventing the most eccentric and different dates, knowing that the ex-wife would hate most of them. She suggested feeding pigeons in the park, doing macramé and cataloging birds, as if these were real hobbies of Y/N, she almost convinced the other redhead that pigeons are her favorite birds and had fun with it. As alternative activities she has recommended tango dancing, climbing walls, making homemade comestic, also told her that the favorite flowers of hers are precisely the ones she hates the most, even wrote down movie ideas and recipes for a breakfast, Y/N's least favorite so to say, all the time wishing that her "help" would stop Alicia from ever getting to share an evening with her. Melissa much less wants them to share Sunday mornings, either in the parks, or drinking coffee together, or reading books together, or, in any way, spending any alone time together. She is content to lead Alicia down the wrong path and sabotage any chances she has with Y/N, cannot deny the delight she feels in seeing that the woman is following her suggestions and will thereby move further and further away in winning Y/N over.
The next two weeks pass slowly torturous for Melissa, as each day she arrives at school hoping to see them away from each other, even with her sabotage Alicia seems to be able to get closer and closer to her ex-wife. She feels increasingly frustrated that no effect seems to have emerged. She simply hates having to watch their interactions and shared moments between them, like when Alicia helped her change the tire of her car that got flat on the way out of school, when they danced together at an event, when Y/N brought her a homemade lunch that they shared in her classroom away from everyone, and, especially, when the redhead randomly presented her with a thin sweater, which Y/N is now wearing while eating a fruit salad reading some random website with Janine.
- You know, you can't keep denying that you still love her - Barb says as she sits down at the table beside her - And that you're dying of jealousy.
- It's not jealousy, it's worry. - Melissa says, shrugging the shoulders - I just want her not to be involved with the wrong people. Barb, she can't be that perfect. She's not the perfect woman for Y/N. She is not what my.... Well, Y/N needs.
- You are jealous. You know she is good enough for Y/N. You're just afraid of losing her for good. - the elementary school teacher laughs and starts unpacking her own lunch, ignoring the friend's incredulous look.
- No, I'm just worried about her, I just want her to find someone who really loves and cares for her. - the redhead snorts and stares at the girl laughing with Janine about something funny they saw.
- And you think that someone is you.
- Maybe. - she admits in a low voice.
A few seconds later Alicia enters the place with a huge bouquet of orange tulips, the ones Melissa swore were Y/N's favorites, she has a shy and strange smile on her face, as she walks towards the colleague with slow steps. Everything is happening in slow motion, the girl and Janine too distracted by their phones to notice her presence, while the other pair of teachers follow her attentively around. She holds the bouquet tightly, she is visibly nervous and holds the breath, then turns to Melissa for some reaction and gets two thumbs up with a smile. Barbara frowns in confusion. And then realizes the possible catastrophe to come. They stare at each other.
- Can you hear what they are talking about? - the redhead asks in a whisper, avoiding to look directly at the unfolding scene, following by the reflection of the phone.
- Nothing, but Janine looks uncomfortable.
- Y/N didn't get the bouquet. Great. - they end the conversation in whispers and she stands up suddenly excited - Hey, Janine! Finished your lunch? I need help getting some heavy books from the library.
Janine follows her without blinking, preferring to throw away the rest of the sandwich rather than continue in the middle of the whole situation, and with quick steps joins Melissa as she walks out of the room. When they are in the corridor, Janine looks relieved and starts to ramble on about how Melissa saved her life by getting her out of that strange situation, her usual smile doesn't reach the eyes. The redhead rolls her eyes and stops in front of the library, despite the neutral expression inside she can barely hide the pleasure that the plan somehow seems to be working. She needs to get Alicia away, as soon and as far away as possible.
- So you owe me a favor.
- What? - she asks in surprise, her smile fading as they stare momentarily at each other. Janine knows she's been dragged into this and she's screwed.
- What did they talk about? - Melissa asks slowly, her eyes narrowing and this intimidates the other woman.
- Y/N and Alicia? Well, the newbie was giving her a bouquet of flowers as a "thank you".
- Thank you for what exactly? - she crosses her arms and walks a step forward, voice a little lower than usual on purpose to intimidate her. Janine never limits herself in speaking as she had just done, there is something.
- For the weekend they spent together.
The smug expression on the redhead's face disappears quickly, the air is taken from her lungs and she can feel that bitter feeling in the pit of stomach, along with growing anger inside her. The painful image of Y/N and Alicia sharing moments takes over her mind, moments like watching trashy movies that neither of them pay attention to, playing board games that should be played with at least four players but are more fun to watch Y/N bend the rules, preparing a meal together sipping wine listening to Laura Pausini in the background, dancing, sunbathing in the backyard, or simply relaxing in each other's company. But seeing Janine's mischievous expression, Melissa knew that her plan had failed. Deep down, she was even praying that Y/N and Alicia had had the worst date of all, with lots of awkwardness, strangeness and no kissing, that it would not develop into the weekend, that her goal of keeping them apart would be successful. But, it seems, her prayers were ignored, so she will have to take matters into her own hands.
- Alicia can be quite naughty. - Janine smiles genuinely at the redhead's reaction, a mixture of shock and fury at hearing this.
- Do you and Y/N still do monthly class planning together on the last weekend of the month? - the teacher tries to cover her anger with a fake smile.
- Yes, we still do.
- Then you should organize another one, shouldn't you? - she doesn't wait for an answer and keeps talking - I need help with a new project. This weekend it's going to be at my house, 5pm, and you're not showing up.
And she leaves without receiving an answer, confident in knowing that one way or another Janine would set up this meeting and as she instructed, she will not show up, inventing a lame last minute excuse. Janine then sends a message to Barbara and Alicia: "All done, step 2 of the plan. I hope this works. Let's see what happens." She breathes a sigh of relief, unconcerned because she knows how jealous Melissa can be and will do everything she can to keep Y/N and Alicia from getting closer, in other words, she will win back her ex-wife.
The weekend comes slower than the teachers at Abbott Elemntary wish, not for Melissa, each day is pleasantly quick as she works on perfecting her miraculous plan. The day after the orange tulips incident she arrives at work early, knowing that on Tuesdays Y/N goes early to organize the "creative day", and eagerly awaits her to help with the boxes of materials she brings from home for her children, the girl is surprised for being ignored for weeks by her but accepts. They have a brief and superficial conversation about the activities while carrying the boxes to the classroom. Then she starts purposely passing in front of her classroom more often, occasionally nodding with a small smile on lips, small well-received contacts that encouraged Melissa to make Gary get her favorite snacks that were taken out of the machines before back to school, this attempt doesn't come the effect she wanted as they were shared with Alicia. The next day there are no more, all the snacks are in the back seat of Melissa's car. So she tries another approach, throws Y/N's lunch away, Alicia's too so there is no possibility of them sharing lunch from the same meal, and for the first time in months the two share a meal together, Melissa practically locks her in the room and convinces her with the favorite dish. The conversation is pleasant within limits but they are still awkward around each other, it's shallow. Neither is willing to open up much yet, they just exchange words about the children's work and a few jokes here and there. Both know there is more to it than that and neither was willing to deal just because they talked again, Melissa spent days preparing herself for when this moment would come, but words fail her when she finds the ex-wife on her front doorstep on a late Saturday afternoon. No amount of rehearsal was enough.
- Janine answered your messages? She didn't even view mine. - Y/N asks cutting out printed dollar bills, trying to make the edges as straight as possible.
- She didn't answer me either. There must have been some unforeseen event, she would never miss spending time at my house. - the redhead disguises, deleting the recent messages on her phone before showing them to her, and then goes back to stirring the risotto in the pan, humming Strani Amori that plays in the background, sound coming from the radio on the kitchen counter.
- That's a fact.
- Look at that, the sky is getting darker and darker. I think there's a storm coming. - Melissa points to the kitchen windows trying to change the topic after minutes of dull silence, a dark cloud takes over the sky, hiding the sunset with a deep blue layer.
- Damn it! - she whispers leaving the scissors aside when she starts to hear the weak drops hitting against the window, foreshadowing of a big storm coming, a lightning bolt crosses the sky followed by the loud noise of thunder - Janine was my ride, there are no buses here to my neighborhood.
- What happened to your car? - the stove is turned off, food is ready.
- Broke again, I'm on a bad streak. - and sighing heavily she remembers how strange the last two weeks have been - First, my favorite snacks are back and then suddenly gone, then someone took my lunch. Oh, and this is the second time my car has broken down in less than one month, also I think a ghost shares the apartment with me. Or my neighbor is dying.
- I miss you talking to me like that. - shy smiles emerge, the two stare at each other for a few seconds, the feeling of calm and comfort of a mundane moment takes over the dynamic, as if nothing has been happening for the last few months and they go back to that time when nothing seems wrong, no discussions beyond what they are going to do for dinner. - I miss us.
- Melissa...
- Are you with Alicia? - the question is almost unconscious, a bitterness in the back of her throat just thinking about the possibility.
- You have no right to ask me that. - Y/N whispers in frustration and confusion, getting up, leaving the unfinished clippings there - You were the one who filed for divorce, you were the one who left me alone in that hotel room to deal with it, who acted indifferent, and now you ask me that? I don't understand.
- Because I am fucked up, Y/N! I was scared, you know all the shit that was my divorce with Joe, but I didn't tell you everything that happened. You know what he said when we were signing the papers? That we had fallen into a routine. There was no more sparkle, no more willpower, that we became more roommates than partners. And when we started to fall into the routine, insecurities took over and I found myself very afraid that it would happen again. - tears fall freely at this point, the redhead struggles to maintain eye contact with her ex-wife who stares at her with the same pain in her eyes. - I didn't want you to get tired of me, to get stuck in this relationship when there's a whole world out there for you while I'm almost double your age and have nothing to offer. So before you could leave I... filed for divorce.
- Mel, I've never asked you for anything but yourself. Your age is not important. And I would never get tired of you, as I said before, I'm not Joe. - Y/N's words are low and she takes a few steps forward, inches away from the woman. Outside the storm intensifies, the sky suddenly darkens and another flash of lightning crosses the sky, they are so focused on each other that they don't notice, just as they don't notice the next song starting to play, Lato Destro Del Cuore.
- But... - Melissa is ready to debate, to devalue and blame herself, but before she can do that she feels Y/N's lips against hers in a soft and tender kiss, their hands thirsty for each other explore their known bodies, looking for more contact and there they stay. The air is taken from their lungs and only returns when they part seconds later, Y/N's hands are still on Melissa's face and Melissa's on her waist - Does this mean you and Alicia are not together?
- What? - the girl laughs, as if it were the stupidest or most random question of all, then realizes that the teacher was asking seriously as she notices her serious expression waiting for an answer - Mel, we are just friends. I've never seen her like that.
- But what about the weekend date? And the tulips?
- There was no date, well, we just went to the flea market for jewelry and old books. - Melissa sighs with relief this time, not avoiding a big smile when she realizes that they had never been on a date, all those painful images dissipated instantly. - And Barbara went with us. The tulips were a joke, I guess, I didn't quite understand why she gave them to me.
- Fuck, Barb... That one... - Y/N is confused, oblivious to recent events - Never mind, you're here now.
Another bolt of lightning cuts across the sky, lighting up the entire room before darkness takes over, everything is dark and silent except for the music on the battery-operated radio. Melissa's hands tighten around the girl's hips, they are closer than before, to the point where she can feel her warm breath and irregular breathing, She smiles, knowing Y/N's fear of the dark and how being in her arms can calm her somehow, it has always been like this, as it had happened many times before in fearful situations.
- Let's get the candles from the living room. - she leads Y/N out of the kitchen, going through the furniture and rooms without needing the vision, knowing by heart every part of the house, except for the other woman's purse left near the couch, stumbling she falls on the couch knocking Y/N on top of herself, since they were holding hands.
The two laugh finding the situation cliché, Melissa's arms wrap around Y/N's body and pulls her to herself, inhaling the smell of shampoo and perfume, feeling the softness of the hair against her fingers as she massages a sensitive spot behind Y/N's ear, drawing a satisfied moan from her. Their eyes meet at the next glimmer and smile before Melissa rises to sit with the girl on her lap, taking her lips for herself again, this time it is deep and fiery, carnal. Her hands snake from her back to her waist, exploring and grasping every part of skin with possessiveness, feeling the heat, her trembling and how she desires it too. Their mouths part for a second and Melissa runs her lips down the length of the neck, one hand migrates to Y/N's hair grabbing a handful of hair pulling her so that her neck is even more exposed to the Schemmenti attacks. Caressing kisses are left on the skin, the redhead's tongue delighting in the most sensitive parts, feeling the warmth and softness of the skin before sucking on those spots. The marks are almost instantaneous from such intensity and strength, shades of crimson painted on her skin. Melissa wants Y/N, Alicia, and anyone else who sees her to know that she belongs to her, only her, and will not go anywhere.
In less than a minute Y/N is practically naked on top of her equally naked (still legally) wife, sitting on her lap wearing only panties after removing the dress she was wearing, the teacher's hands continue to travel over her skin, stopping at the curve of the naked boobs and becomes thirsty to adore the two masterpieces, Without a second thought Melissa takes one of the areolas into her mouth, tongue playing with the nipples and being teased by the girl's micro reactions she bites the erogenous zone, then sucks it unmercifully while facing her squirming face, dimly lit by the pitch and some random lightning. Her right hand leaves the boobs, without hesitation reaching the girl's center, already wet and in need of her touches, and without hesitation just pulls the panties to the side, unexpectedly penetrating her with two fingers. Without preparation or any other preliminary. It's hard, strong, intense and passionate, Melissa lets out a strangled scream when Y/N bites her shoulder trying to hold back her own scream, of pain and pleasure.
- Oh, Mel... - she whispers trying to control her breathing as the redhead begins to move inside her, slowly but steadily, enjoying every second of this intimate moment she has missed so much. Both of them are completely delivered.
- Amore mio, I've missed this so much, for fuck's sake. - Melissa whispers in her ear, as she gradually speeds up the movements, the body on top of her bends back and moans loudly. - Oh my God, how I missed it...
The redhead leans in with her fingers still inside Y/N, taking her along as she gets on her knees and the girl lies on the padded couch, back supported by the various decorative cushions. A better and easier position for Melissa, who smiles before giving a quick and hard thrust as she crawls over to straddle one of the thighs, rubbing her intimacy against the skin, moaning instantly excited, her hips moving slowly, enjoying the sensation. They kiss again, Melissa's lips are warm and soft, her tongue teases Y/N's, eager and wild, deliciously invasive. The movements increase, harder and faster, everything is so intense, the teacher's hips move faster in search of more pleasure, they both moan loudly, but not as loud as the rain that falls outside, intensifying just like the activities inside the house. Y/N brings one hand to her wife's hip and the other slides to her pussy, feeling the excitement dripping between the fingers, something she has come to expect with her wet thigh, and strokes the bundle of nerves. Quick and sure, just like Melissa's strokes, they work their way to climax. The desire only grows, each touch, kiss or moan doesn't seem enough to express the longing their bodies felt for each other, they feel completely vulnerable and full of desire, the sensations mix and multiply, bringing them to climax. Melissa holds her tightly, kissing her with desperation as they cum together, pleasure running through their bodies as to share the ecstasy of this moment, trembling in each other's arms. Melissa collapses on the girl with a big smile on lips and if Y/N could see her face she would find a pair of bright olive eyes. Still in the dark their lips meet again after taking in air, it's quiet and gentle, touching each other softly, exploring every inch of each other's mouth, Melissa's fingers tangle in Y/N's hair again, deepening the kiss. The soft touch and warmth spreads through every part of their bodies, they have barely finished over one orgasm and are already longing for another. The redhead slides her hand down, caressing Y/N's body, pressing on her hip, pulling closer.
Melissa smiles and whispers: - We still have a lot of time to make up for it, Amore mio. - she slides her other hand behind her, gently caressing the back of Y/N's neck as their lips come together again.
Opening her eyes, Y/N is faced with Melissa's calm and relaxed morning face, her red hair disheveled, skin illuminated by the dim light coming through the window. Her reddish lips are ajar, arms around her, and her stare fixed on the girl as a plea for her to stay. She is underneath, body curvaceous and smooth, her breasts pressing against Y/N's head resting right there using it as a improvised pillow. Melissa looks at her tenderly, enjoying the sight of having her in her arms again, then holds Y/N tighter, desperate not to let her leave. She knows she can't prevent this from happening, but she still tries to make the most of this moment. Their hearts beat together, and she feels safe and loved again.
- I still can't believe we slept on the carpet! - the girl whispers with exhaustion in her voice, and Melissa smiles, nodding her head.
- I know, but it was still great! One more moment to add to our list of adventures.
- And places we've had sex, we haven't had it in the kitchen or in the dining room. - the answer is always the same and it doesn't surprise her when the redhead nods in denial, her kitchen is a kind of sanctuary and would be weird to see nonna cooking or eating there. - Just kidding.
- Amore mio... - Melissa's voice is serious now, hoarse from having just woken up after the best night's sleep in months - Forgive me for everything I've put you through. You're staying, right?
- I never wanted to leave and I never will. I love you! - they stare at each other with their faces too close together and a smile comes to their lips, the feeling of security and trust they feel for each other is so strong that both realize that no matter what the future brings, everything will be okay because they'll be together - I will give you back your necklace, but you better never take off again. It's a threat.
- Fuck, I am so lucky. - Melissa places a soft kiss on Y/N's lips - I fucking love you.
Meanwhile in the group:
"Do you guys think the final part of the plan worked out?" (Janine)
"Idk, I hope so, I texted Y/N yesterday and she didn't reply. She always replies." (Alicia)
"I did the same to Melissa and she didn't reply either," (Barb)
"Everyone knows that Melissa would puncture her own tires to not let her leave the house, she must be holding the poor girl captive." (Barb)
"LMAO" (Janine)
"Of course!" (Alicia)
"Thank you for participating in this crazy plan with us, Alicia." (Janine)
"You're welcome ^^ I've always wanted to put my college drama classes to use." (Alicia)

-You guys can send me asks! Honestly I don’t know how quick I’ll respond to them but go ahead! It can be about anything (yes including headcannons + ships)
We also have a popularity poll going on! Here
Some important tags: #OP smash or pass (where you can find all the current and previous polls)
#Inbox trick or treating- the trick or treat event that went on
#Rosi’s holiday exchange- Holiday event going on now
Below are some FAQ’s that might pop up:
Q: how are you keeping track of the characters? How will you prevent from repeats?
A: I spent four hours making a spreadsheet and tried to weed out all the characters we can’t post here. If a character I missed pops up and I post it I’ll take it down and post a new one.
Q: What else are you a fan of?
A: I’m really into Coral island as of late. Fire emblem has always had a special place in my heart. I also have been playing a ton of Identity V as of late. (I’m a college student so I can really only watch anime)
Q: Are you gonna make a spreadsheet of the most smashable characters?
A: Yes! I have a friend who is willing to do it! Plus at the end I have something else planned :]
Q: Are we allowed to request characters?
No, I’m going in alphabetical order, but if I miss someone please let me know! Though if you want people to smash or pass your One Piece OC’s I can do that!
Q: What characters are we including?
A: As long as they fit in our categories and have a photo of them, they are welcome in this. So yes we have some movie characters but not a lot.
I have decided Momonosuke will not be in this poll because he has the mindset of a child
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: I’m jobless, bored, and hyper fixating hard. Also I thought it would be fun. Plus I wanna get a consensus on characters
Q: Do you have an age limit on this blog?
A: Not really, though if you are a minor and try to argue about this being NSFW then…unfollow idc it’s just a silly poll
Q: The series is still running what about future chapters with characters?
A: I’ll add them to the end of the list and we’ll circle back to them once my main list is done.
Q: How many characters are in this poll?
A: 1000+ most are male there’s only about 250 women in this poll. And yes I checked EVERY big mom child
Q: How are we incorporating Zoan devil fruits in this?
A: As long as they have a human form we will be using them. But the lab made zoan fruits were gonna go with how they look
Cheetah for legs: ❌ Ox for stomach: ✅
Q: Why are people smashing XYZ?
A: Idfk it’s Tumblr man, have you seen the bitches these people are into??
Q: I have a friend who you blocked why did you do that?
A: They probably shipped Coralaw, DoffyCora, or some other illegal ass ship, we’re a pornbot, or straight up being racist. Just don’t be fucking weird man and I won’t block you. I love shipping but if your shipping something illegal I’m gonna block you.
Q: Why is Corazon the profile photo?
A: I think he’s hot + idk heart theme kinda fits. And he has some good alts so I can do Halloween and spring themes

Celebrating TOA and the people who contribute to make our group what it is.
Repost, don't reblog. Only fill in what you feel comfortable sharing!
Happy anniversary, TOA! Here's to many more years spent together.
Name: Ashera
Pronouns: they/them
Birthday (no year): 6th June
Where are you from? What is your time zone? England, GMT
How long is your roleplay experience? I think it must be like 10 years technically
How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? Naruto OC roleplay on Google+
How were you introduced to TOA? I played FE4 and the brainworms took over, so I started following the genealogy tag on tumblr. I kept seeing posts about X character being accepted to the officer's academy, so eventually I looked into what that was all about.
Do you have any pets? No.
What is your favourite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) My wardrobe is minmaxed for warm weather, I hate layers and I like having my window open, and having hours and hours of daylight. So summer.
What is your IRL occupation? IT.
Some interests and things you like/enjoy? Pixel art and cross-stitch, card games, social deduction games, doctor who, long walks.
What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Zero escape, Aitsf, puyo puyo tetris, balatro, slay the spire, ace attorney, umineko, other vns.
Favourite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Delphox. I like dragon, fire and dark types.
Tell us some fun facts and trivia about yourself! (Optional bonus challenge: if you filled this out last year, try not to repeat what you said back then!)
I like dressing fancy. I regularly go to hang out with my friends wearing floor-length gowns, my grandad's boat cloak, and heels. I have a drag queen friend who sometimes gives me clothes he doesn't want any more, and it's great.
(Apart from the wrinkle where RD is technically my brother's and not mine) I own every FE game that got an English release.
I will always spell things the British way.
How did you get into Fire Emblem? At the time feh was released I was just playing every nintendo mobile game that came out. I thought the characters were cute and I found a second-hand copy of birthright sometime later. I then had to wait until Christmas to play it cause my brother's 3DS was broken.
What Fire Emblem games have you played? Beaten: Genealogy, Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, Birthright, Conquest, Echoes, 3 Houses, 3 Hopes, Engage Played a decent amount of: FE1, Binding Blade, Path of Radiance, Warriors
First & Favourite Fire Emblem games: First: Heroes/Birthright. Favourite(s): Genealogy, Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn
List your 5 favourite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Laylea, Dew, Forde, Larcei and Jeritza. Maybe. I have too many faves.
Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! I liked M!Robin's art in heroes and he was the first 5* I summoned. Also I fell in love with Kaden the instant I met him cause he's cute (unfortunately my Corrin was already married)
Any Fire Emblem crushes? Like so many. For brevity I'll give the biggest one from each game: Wolf, Sonya, Arvis, Karel (FE7), Joshua/Cormag, Nasir, Reina, Jeritza, Zelkov. Shout out to Arvis for being the reason I played FE4 to begin with, and Jeritza cause the morning he became playable and bisexual I went insane.
If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? I prefer to S support a new character each run cause I like filling the support log. The only time I've S supported a character more than once is the bisexual ones in 3H. So instead I'm giving my first and my favourite. Also at this point I've played 3H so much there's only like, 6 characters I haven't S supported. - Awakening: First: Miriel, Favourite: ??? - Fates: First: Jakob, Favourite: Kaden, Reina, Mozu - Three Houses: First: Jeritza, Favourite: Jeritza - Engage: First: Zelkov, Favourite: Zelkov
Favourite Fire Emblem class? Swordmaster
If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? Mage cause they have cape. I'd have great stats (delusional)
If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) Black Eagles.
If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boons: Reason, Axes, Authority. Banes: Heavy Armour, Riding, Faith. Budding talent: Faith.
If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) Firene.
How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) Tee-Oh-Ay
Current TOA muses: Forde
Past TOA muses? Larcei, Tine, Dew, Yune, Laylea
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? I had Larcei for over a year and honestly I'm really happy with what I did with her (even if rereading her stuff makes me cringe). So as much as I love her I have no strong reason to pick her up... apart from that swordmaster drabble I never got around to.
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) There's overlap between the 'old' and 'new' gens of my muses. There's a hotheaded sword girl, a mage with issues :tm: and a cute blond guy. I think I have an easier time writing characters that have a positive outlook, and say what they mean.
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Idk really. I don't think I'm that good at writing sad shit, so muses that have heavier stuff going on I'd struggle with.
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I like being a little silly. Some of my favourite posts have been where I've just thought up some nonsense, and allowed myself to write it.
Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I want Forde to be obliterated emotionally. I do not care if these emotions are positive or negative.
Favourite TOA-related memories? SO many this group is awesome. I loved coming back after some time off and seeing what muses were still around. There's one in particular that Larcei and Forde are both close friends with and it cheeses me so much. Anyway happyland was my favourite event ever thank you mods.
Present or past tense? Present usually, but sometimes I use past don't worry about it.
Normal size text, small text, no preference? The most formatting I do is the occasional italics.
Got any potential muse delusions to share? There is *someone* who's been on my mind... (but really I have no strong muse thoughts at the moment, and I don't think I have the energy to double muse rn)

How do you pronounce TOA? TOE-uh
Current TOA muses: Miranda, Marni, Reginn
Past TOA muses? Volug, Lyn, Sophia
Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? Volug; he's comfortably retired.
Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? the three limit muse genders are as follows:
-depersonalization and/or self-isolation (we're not the same and never will be) -my siblings are all i have (but i dont know if love is enough to save us) -oh god where does the anger go after everything is over ..............the bonus limit muse gender is "man who is funny" ftr
Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? i think i could do anything if i tried hard enough (hubris speaking) but i would have to become obsessed with them first which is the hard part because i feel like i'm pretty picky
What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? i've really gotten back into my complicated sibling relationship era lately. i like non-traditional family relationships in general and having to work to keep that connection alive. i like relationships between women (not necessarily romantic but also yeah i'm a lesbian so romantic too) and the nuances that come with that. Day 2
Pairing: Vincent Valentine x reader
Prompt: Hope
Description: You loved him, sure and true. And you wanted him to know, it was okay for him to love you too.
Rating: sfw
Content Warning: None
Word Count: 1022
Notes: I love this man so much its crazy. I tried so hard to also not just choose jojo/fe characters for this list but. its mostly fe...
“Hey, Vincent?” Your voice draws his attention your way. He offers no response, but from his red gaze, you know you have it. “I have… a kind of silly question, if you’ll let me ask.” You smile softly, but there’s an obvious nervousness about you.
It wasn’t like you to be like that. You were so full of life-- so careful and sweet. It felt… wrong to see you like this. See you so serious. This was obviously important to you. Of course he would oblige.
“Silly?” He repeats. His voice feel rough in his throat. The two of you hadn’t seen each other in a while so… he really had no reason to.
“Well… kinda.” You shift your weight from on leg to the other, your gaze always shifting from him, to something else, back to him.
“Go ahead.” He says simply. Continuing walking with you in no particular direction.
“This is kinda just an observation…” You added, folding your hands behind you head as you walked. Trying to seem nonchalant. “But… you don’t let yourself feel a lot of emotions, do you?” Your words seem unsure. Probably because you didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
Admittedly, he does feel a little surprised. Called out, even. But… your not wrong. Some emotions they… weren’t his to have any more. Who was he to feel happy, feel content, or hopeful for all he had done?
“Why do you ask?” He doesn’t answer directly, but you both know you’re right.
“Well… not to be like, you need my permission or anything…” You laugh sightly, the nerves he had noticed in you the entire time finally making way to your voice. “But I want you to feel like that it’s okay, you know?” Your voice is smaller. The two of you naturally stop walking as you turn to him. “Perhaps this is the silly part of this but… I want you to be happy.” You say softly.
“Me, happy?” He echoes, testing the word on his tounge. It felt wrong.
“Okay, fine, I’ll say it.” You huff dramatically, running a hand through your hair with a big sigh. “I want you to be happy… with me.” You say it slowly, words coming out as if you had to force them. His gaze has never left you.
“...I don’t hate you, if that’s what you think.” He offers to you, and you scoff.
“No, that’s not it. I mean, that’s great to hear, but what I mean is…” You trail off, meeting his gaze again and stopping. Studying him a moment, perhaps looking for the right words to say. Or maybe the courage to say them.
“You… you give me hope. A lot of it. A lot of good feelings, even.” You shake you head. “Geez, I sound so dumb…” You hold your head with one hand. “What I mean to say is, you make me happy. So happy sometimes, I’m fit to burst.” There, with your trademark goofy grin. “I’d like to return the favor. See you happy. See you full of hope. Maybe even smiling.” Your grin grows as your ambitions do.
“...I see.” It takes him a moment to mull over the words. He can see it in your gaze, in the way you try to keep up your smile for him and raise your eyebrows to hope. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to feel that way again…” There’s a sigh in his voice, and you falter.
“Can you try?” Your voice is small. Vincent can’t help but soften at your tone. You’ve never looked so hurt. “For me?”
He can’t help but blink owlishly. “For… you?” He repeats.
“Well actually… for us.” You look up at him. “I love you so much Vincent, so much that I want to see you happy, want to be the one to make you smile…” You fidget under his intense gaze. Vincent can’t help but take a sharp breath.
Love? He… hasn’t loved someone in so long. But with you.
“I-I understand it’s a lot… and I don’t expect you to feel the same.” You admit hastily. “But I want you to know that. That you’re loved.” You tremble as you say the words. “I always thought that, I dunno… a little love would do a lot for you.” If only you knew.
He can’t help but feel the beating of his heart. The idea of you loving him had never even crossed his mind. But now that’s its in there, he can’t help but ponder what it would be like; to love and be loved by you…
And he realizes, this soft feeling bubbling up inside him is hope. Hope that, maybe with you he could… change. Maybe, even, absolve his sins.
“I… can’t say I feel the same.” Even expecting his answer, he sees your mood fall. Sees the way you hold back tears. “I… never thought of loving someone again. Thought I didn’t deserve it.” You nod, sniffling hard. He thinks to speed this up, wanting you to feel better. “But… I can’t lie. I enjoy your company. You make my life lighter and… I find myself looking forward to our time together.” He can’t up but raise a gaunt, gentle as sin as he wipes stray tears that fall down your cheeks.
“Vincent?” Oh, and to hear a sob in your voice… He never wants to see you sad like this again.
“But knowing you love me…” He dares to close his eyes. Imagine something soft and kind with you. “I’d like to try.” It feels like a promise. Perhaps it is, as you end up hugging him, clutching him close until you feel him wrap careful arms around you as well.
“Thank you…” Your words are muffled. “Thank you…” You lift only so he can properly hear your voice, see the shine of tears in your eyes and the smile that pulls on your lips. “You’ll see, I promise. You’ll find something worth being happy for.”
Vincent gives you a smile. He thinks that, perhaps you’ll be that thing worth being happy for. You give him hope for that.

Let's Talk About Fire Emblem Supports: A Discussion on the State of one of Fire Emblem's Iconic Mechanics
So I'm sure if you are someone who is keyed into the Fire Emblem community, something that has been discussed for some time is the current state of the support system. Arguably Fire Emblem's defining feature which in recent years has almost come to eclipse other facets of the gameplay.
However, with that has come some pretty noticeable backlash. Lets back it up for a second.
This is not going to be a "This is the right way to do this and if you disagree you are wrong" post. This is me as a long time fan of the franchise giving my honest opinion on how I feel about these aspects of the game and why I think they are the way they are and what I think could be improved and what I think works as is. I don't think Fire Emblem or InSys are gonna go be "diluting" themselves if they don't make these improvements, nor do I think someone who has different interests in how the support system should be implemented is wrong. I'm just a fan with an opinion.
So Fire Emblem's support system has been with us since FE4 in a primordial state, but its modern day form really started in FE6. While entries after that varied in terms of things added to it, it was around Awakening with the franchise on dire straights did making it so every character could support and marry for their prime future baby. This pairing mechanic brought on a bunch of new fans that enabled them to get a bunch of character interactions that resulted in loads of content for fans to then take into transformative properties. But the thing is that a lot of Awakening worked in context. What was assumed to be the last FE means its flaws were less evident and were built with the child mechanic in mind.
Now, Awakening's supports are seen as okay supports plagued with a bunch of redundancies due to the fact that one character interacting with everyone character can only produce so much dialogue. That and each support's length could also lead to loads of padding. The child units were also discarded after Fates basically proved that the mechanic without some proper context can feel more intrusive. But that still leaves us with games with many many characters and a lot of interactions.
The criticism of modern FE Supports can vary but the general points are
Too many characters
Too much repetition in interactions
Length of each support
Separated from the events of the narrative
The supports themselves are just poorly written
This is also not ignoring the ways this has been shaken up like Shadows of Valentia's use of memory fragments, the base conversations of the Tellius games, the monastery scene of Three Houses etc. So any discussion of how these support systems could be improved often calls back to other variations of the support system. And that's at least how we will be trying to examine FE's support system, using its other systems and variants for reference and comparison.
So firstly, I think the stance people take on this will actually be different depending on what aspect of the game you value most. If you are a gameplay fiend your focus will be more on integrating supports into the gameplay the way a Persona game might. If you are a more narrative fan of Fire Emblem you would more take the stance that the supports are relevant and reactive to the plot. And if you're a character fan, you likely want the content of the supports to be plentiful but endearing to the characters. So I want to at least establish that where you fall on how supports are implemented will be of personal preference.
As this is my post, my personal stance is Fire Emblem is a narrative game with supports acting as ways to elevate the characters. As such, that is why I feel confident in saying that I am personally not a fan of the idea of making every FE character support relevant to the narrative. The narrative is important to me, but critical world building and character motives shouldn't just be buried in the supports or battle conversations. I shouldn't need to play with certain character combinations to find out vital information for the plot you are writing. In my personal opinion, the best remedy for this was the creation of the base convos. These were interactions the played out when certain conditions were met at certain points in the story.
This had allowed for a lot of side characters to feel as they had some relevance even if they weren't plot relevant. To contribute to how far along this journey has been and how a map scenario may relate to them. A small version of this was done in Garreg Mach Monastery where each chapter would allow for Byleth to walk around the hub world and speak with characters who would provide their thoughts on the previous chapter or what might be coming in the next chapter. These weren't as long as base convos, much shorter. But it still gave the idea of everyone contributing a new insight. That said, as much as I think base convos are good in games like FE9, they should not be a replacement for the current support system but rather an enhancement. These I would consider as narrative moments that often hinge on events that happened in the narrative. With character commenting and interacting off of it. But I feel that if we were to remove the support system and only have base convos we would be distancing a lot of the casual fans of FE who want to see characters interact, but not always as serious. And because FE is often a war story franchise, the tone of base convos are often serious in subject matter.
With Engage and the implementation of the somniel and even walking around defeated battlefields, I actually really would have liked base convos to be implemented this way. Perhaps after a battle you may be able to walk around a camp and see an indicator of who you can talk to about an event that just happened that would trigger a more fleshed out cutscene. I say camp, because while I appreciate the monastery, but one of the issues I have is that it is a stationary location and makes FE not so much a journey but rather just able to fast travel to certain conflicts. Making the world feel smaller and repetitive.
Most likely than not, you will not unlock every support in game on your first try. This to me adds replayability and an incentive to grind with characters you may not regularly use. However, in the case of base convos, unlocking them often hinges on them just being alive at the time. So if you were someone like me who impulsively starts over even on casual mode to not lose a character, when you see all base convos, you have seen them all. You can only walk around the Monastery and ask Sylvain what he thinks about fighting Miklan only so many playthroughs before you just don't bother. The replayability will then come from difficulty spikes and not character or story incentives. So I do believe base convos should return but as an enhancement not a replacement.
(Some may suggest that one could implement a support system lock like FE3H did with its time skips, but that suffered from an issue of not accounting for everything interaction when the time skip happened. So it actually feels very bizarre to watch Ashe and Petra have a lunch time excursion in Faerghus when the country is apparently under occupation. So I think weaving supports with narrative dependency for some supports but not others will actually be more confusing.)
In fact I daresay, supports that are disconnected could actually add levity. Mia and Ilyana's support is almost completely comedic, and it feels more endearing than watch the two of them brood over Daein and Crimea.
Speaking of repetition, lets talk about support redundancy. This is part of another issue in FE's supports which we will get into, but let me at least try to establish what people mean by redundant. I find saying FE characters are "too anime" rather lazy and dismissive. At their core a lot of side FE characters are stock characters with some limited traits. So when you hear Sully talking about working out, or Rosado's obsession with cute things, or Raphael loving food, a lot of the supports they have can come back to or revolve around these topics. And when you have games with the other issue of many many characters hearing them have these convos around these topics again and again can be very boring.
Some could say that this is an easy fix by simply reducing the number of characters. Focus more on say the size of a persona cast. Well the difference is that FE is a tactical RPG with permadeath while Persona is an RPG with a focus on time management. The smaller sized cast benefits the player in ways that help them interact with every character, but not having to worry about one becoming unplayable after you spend a lot of time on one. FE however as a tactical RPG where the mass amount of characters is so you have options to solve strategic map scenarios. Reducing the number of characters to only plot relevant ones would be very difficult. Hypotethically, if we reduced Engage to the characters who have to be around for the plot that only leaves you with Alear, Vander, Clanne, Framme, Mauvier, Veyle, Alfred, Ivy, Diamant, and Timerra. Not exactly a plethora of options for making interesting maps.
Now InSys seems to have begun implementing changes to this already. No longer are we going full Awakening or Fates with supports. Supports are much more limited in scope but not quite as anemic a line up as Shadows of Valentia did with who could support who. 3H and Engage have honestly made far more strides in lowering the number of supports and honing in on who may be relevant for a character to interact with and who outside of that circle could they interact with. Three Houses often relies on the house members each being to support each other with maybe one or two students from other houses or the monastery staff. Engage seems largely to focus on characters from countries having the same interactions with a few from others. This is a good thing, honestly if we were to get a remake of Radiant Dawn, I would love for something similar to be implemented between the Ike, Elincia, and Micaiah casts with some crossover supports when you get to the back half of that game.
So if this is already something InSys is improving, why is it something people are still critical of? Well I think what some may miss is that even if we compact a cast to more manageable interactions, that still leaves the interactions themselves.
Remember how I said Fire Emblem characters are stock characters with some limited traits? Well that is often done with identifiability. When you meet L'Arachel as a holy women but she has a snotty attitude or Sylvain the noble who hits on every woman, its done so you can recognize this character. But when you get into their supports, you often see that there might be reasons for why they act this way or it makes them more fleshed out and rounded characters than how they may seem at face value. This is where I think some Fates fans will often argue that Nohr's cast is very compelling in their supports even if the game's narrative had made many come off as one note. But you can see the flippside with Engage where its supports are more manageable, people didn't think supports were elevating the characters in ways that you had known them. That's not to say all of them, Yunaka is a stand outing how her supports both inform her as a non plot relevant character but also endear her to the audience. This to me is a sign that supports will ultimately be cases of writing. And there can just be poor writing and utilization of characters. This can also hinge on context as well as 3H has recruitment of characters far different from any FE game and just hands you your house with the expectation your interactions with them will make you learn more about them rather than just playing and recruiting on a quest like some may want.
I may have been a bit snide to Shadows of Valentia as even by the account of wanting less quantity of supports, I still found it almost too small. But even then some of the supports are the best in the franchise. Particularly Python and Clive's. But I don't think this was good because SoV had less character supports, I think it was good because the writers had looked at this pairing of characters and what each one was about and what depths could the reveal about each character. I would very much like to see that for a majority of supports.
Last point is length, and honestly we've seen this improved with games like 3H. Some supports can just be short. In fact some people can have only two support chains. Honestly, just doing more of that would've probably led to less issues overall and hope for that to cut down on padding.
So with all this in mind, what is my final take away. Well I ultimately think it comes back to what I usually want out of a Fire Emblem game. The narrative should be all there in the campaign with characters arcs for plot relevant characters, but the supports should be used as a way to enhance these units. Adding dimensions to characters who ultimately don't factor into the plot as a whole. I think 3H did make a lot of these improvements particularly because it was made with the social aspect in mind with that game practically carried by all of its characters and their depths. But I did feel as the narrative of 3H had suffered and wasn't all that tight. Post Engage, I think we are seeing a system I'd like to maintain, but I think what was lost was some of the added depths to cast members that supports can provide as well. Yes, Engage was made with a lot of celebratory fun in mind so it wasn't all that serious, but it would be nice to get more Yunakas and Pandreos in that case than say Ambers. Another aspect is the pairing, and I really hope that pairing characters without the need for child units returns as well.
I am all for the return of base convos like FE9, but I don't think it should be a replacement. Again it is another form of enhancement not replacement for supports. I think completely junking supports in favor of the base convos would be a bad idea especially with newer fans of the franchise. Overall, FE supports I feel are where they should be, but there are plenty of minor tweaks that could be implemented, if just more utilization of the characters beyond their face value.

Little Hope MBTI character analysis
A little while ago, I made this post where I typed all of the DPA characters as their possible MBTI types. I enjoyed thinking about it, so I thought I would go ahead and share my analysis for each of the characters!😊
Starting with the Little Hope characters because @delurkr expressed interest, so thank you!😊 Currently working on the MoM characters, so I will also post those as soon as I'm done❤
Here are my analysis posts for all the games!
All analysis under the cut bc it's kinda long lol
Andrew (INFJ): Andrew was one of the easiest DPA characters for me to type. INFJs are the "Advocate" or the "Counselor." Both INFJs and ENFJs typically fill the role of the group mediator, due to their combination of Introverted Intuition (Ni) and Extroverted Feeling (Fe). For INFJs, Ni is their primary cognitive function, which essentially relates to their desire to figure things out. They find themselves in their own head very often, trying to make sense of various concepts or ideas. We see this with Andrew, as he spends the majority of the game trying to figure out what's going on and how they're connected with their doubles from the past. Fe is INFJ's secondary cognitive function, which relates to the "mediator" or "counselor" aspect of their personality type. Andrew pleads for the other characters to stop their fighting when it's clear to him that the arguing is not helping them figure out what's going on. Finally, INFJs essentially have a "chameleon" personality, which enables them to get along with almost any type of personality. We also see this with Andrew, as he's the only character who gets along pretty well with every other character. At the same time, unfortunately, this can also make it hard for them to really know who they truly are, and it can also make it harder for other people to understand the INFJ as well as the INFJ understands others. I personally believe I am an INFJ myself and I related a lot to Andrew tbh, so I feel pretty good about this typing haha
Taylor (ENFP): ENFPs are the "Campaigner" or the "Champion." An ENFP's primary function is Extroverted Intuition, which Taylor certainly exhibits with her consistent desire to see if there's another path or another way to go about things, for example. Ne also has a tendency to want to focus on big picture stuff, rather than small details. Taylor recognizes that the town of Little Hope sucks and has some bad mojo going on, and she's more interested in simply getting out than she is in determining just why it sucks. I also believe her Ne is the reason she wanted to stay at the bus instead of going further into the town, because she had a feeling that the town was bad news. Speaking of feelings, an ENFP's secondary function is Introverted Feeling, which Taylor definitely exhibits when she opens up to Daniel about finally feeling like part of the group. She talks about what does and what doesn't feel right to her, which is a big indicator of Fi. Fi users have strong beliefs and base their morals off of what they feel is right or wrong, rather than basing them off of what other people feel is right or wrong. Taylor knows how she feels about the town and she is willing to fight on behalf of her feelings & beliefs, which we see her do when she argues with John about it. ENFPs are also very spirited, high-energy people, just like Taylor. They can be a little silly and they're not afraid to be themselves, as they often have their own ways of doing things. I feel pretty good about typing Taylor as a spirited ENFP!
Daniel (ESFP): I went back and forth on Daniel, but I feel good about typing him as ESFP. ESFPs are the "Entertainer" or the "Performer." An ESFP's primary function is Extroverted Sensing, which relates to seeking out experiences and simply wanting to do things, even if it's just for the sake of doing them. Upon Daniel & Taylor being returned to the group through the fog, Daniel immediately has to go back through the fog to see if it happens again. He doesn't stop to think about it, he just does it because he doesn't want to waste any time pondering what just happened. When you think about the scientific method, the step of hypothesizing comes before the actual experimentation; but not for Se users- they always skip right to the actual experiment so they can reach their conclusion faster. Daniel also doesn't hesitate to reach for the little girl hiding in the playground, and there are also a few other instances where he acts immediately. Similar to ENFPs, an ESFP's secondary function is also Introverted Feeling. When Taylor objects to Angela about the idea of Daniel being her boyfriend, Daniel immediately takes it personally, believing that Taylor doesn't want to think of him that way. He seeks reassurance from her, and it's interesting to see 2 secondary Fi users try to reassure each other throughout the game. Similar to Taylor, Daniel knows how he feels about the town and about what's happening to their doubles, and he is also willing to fight for his own beliefs.
Angela (ISTJ): ISTJs are the "Logistician" or the "Inspector." An ISTJ's primary function is Introverted Sensing, which relates to simply observing facts and taking things for what they are. Si is different from Se in that, while Se users just want to do things, Si users tend to watch things and make their judgments based off of what they observe. Angela acknowledging the fact that her demon only started pursuing her once her double was executed is an example of Si. She doesn't need to analyze why the demon chased her after her double was drowned, it's enough for her to understand that your double dies = a demon tries to kill you. ISTJs are very fact-oriented due to their Si. An ISTJ's secondary function is Extroverted Thinking, which typically lends itself well to administrative or leadership roles. This could be why Angela criticizes John's leadership and his inability to make decisions- because her Te would arguably make her a better leader, and it can sometimes frustrate Te users when they have to follow someone who doesn't lead with the same decisiveness. An ISTJ's primary Si mixed with their secondary Te can also cause them to make blunt observations about people, which is similar to how Angela outright refers to Daniel as Taylor's boyfriend upon observing that the 2 of them seem to like spending so much time together. All in all, Angela is a very practical ISTJ character who isn't afraid to say things like they are and she doesn't want to mess around.
John (ENTP): John was definitely one of the hardest DPA characters for me to type, as I'm still going back & forth on him tbh. He's definitely a T type, but I don't believe he's a J type, as xxTJs are typically more assertive & sure of their decisions, which we know is something John struggles with. I also believe he's an intuitive rather than a sensor, so that narrows it to xNTP. Here's where it gets tricky: choosing between INTP & ENTP isn't as simple as figuring out whether he's more introverted or extroverted. The question is whether his primary function is Extroverted Intuition or Introverted Thinking. I can definitely see him being an ENTP, as they are known for "playing Devil's Advocate," which John arguably does by accusing Mary of being the source of evil within Little Hope. ENTPs are the "Debater" or the "Visionary." ENTPs like to question almost anything and everything as a way to learn more about the world in which they live. They will never back down from an intellectual challenge, and they're also not afraid to question other people on their ideas or points of view. We can see John do this, as he's not afraid to disagree with the other characters when they give their opinion on what's going on. He challenges Taylor on her desire to wait at the bus, he challenges Andrew on his stance of trying to defend Mary, etc. His primary Ne mixes with his secondary Ti to think outside the box and work to discover other possibilities that make sense to him & what he believes to be true. He humors Taylor & Daniel about their claim that the fog led them back to the group, he proposes the idea to Andrew to burn the poppet they find in the museum in case it's the source of the evil, he tries to think of any possible ways that they can help their doubles from the past. I think I feel good saying he's an ENTP!
#gonna make a separate post for each game bc you can see how long they get😅#thank you for engaging in my analysis!#little hope#the dark pictures anthology#dark pictures little hope#lh andrew#lh taylor#lh daniel#lh angela#lh john#dpa mbti#shhhh I know these characters 'aren't real' but it was easier than typing the Clarke family members#bc we only see them in the prologue rip

Stripling Warrior
4/5 STARS
Summary: This collection of comics (3 issues and an Annual) has the worlds first ever Gay Mormon Superhero! In fact, it has a lot of different Queer and Mormon (or Mormon-adjacent) characters, all fighting against injustice.
The main character, Sam Shepherd, gets visited by an Angel soon after marrying his husband Jase. The Angel (Abish from the Book of Mormon) calls him to be The Hand of God and punish sinners. He fights homophobes, misguided missionaries, and Cain himself, alongside his companion, Fe, who also received powers from Abish.
Read at your own risk: This book is has a complex approach to mormonism, as well as deceptions of queer sex (Not explicit but pretty nsfw). I think it's a lot of fun, and is an honest portrayal of queer mormon experiences, with fun fantastical versions of Mormon beliefs (Like a Holy Ghost Force Field).
Overall, I enjoyed it! I've been dying for a Mormon Superhero, and queer mormon superheroes are even better. I would love to see more stories with Sam, Fe, Jase, Shonda, and Riley in the future.
Spoilers and Review Breakdown Under the Cut
1. Well written - 3.5 Stars.
Overall, I think the writing is done well. Some of it is cheesy, and there are a couple of deus ex machina's but it feels like it fits in the genre and with what the comic is trying to do.
2. Fun level - 4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed it! I read the whole thing in one sitting and it was engaging and exciting and it made me laugh.
3. Complex faith - 3.5 Stars
This one is complicated to answer. This definitely feels like media aimed at ex-mormons. Most of the characters are Ex (or "Jack") Mormons, and don't have high regard for the church as an organization. They do believe in Angels and Heavenly Mother (cause that's where their power comes from) but the church officials (like mission presidents) are shown as villains. It's a very irreverent story. And there's a part in the last issue where Heavenly Mother and Heavenly Father are pitted against each other that I didn't really like.
The only exception is Riley, an asexual missionary who states his firm testimony a couple of times. He is one of the heroes, but still firmly believes in the gospel.
I like it because it has characters from all over the spectrum of mormonism (from actively serving a mission to "my parents were mormon but we don't really talk about it" and everything in between), which I think is cool, but it's also definitely got an exmo bias.
4. Homophobia scale - 5 stars
it's so gay!!!!! They have a character for each letter of LGBTA, it's delightful.
It is also NSFW. Nothing explicit (?) but characters are often naked, and the two married couples are shown being intimate quite a few times. I don't normally love stories like that, but for a comic that is about the sacredness of queer intimacy, I understand why it's included.
5. Mormon weird - 5 stars
SOOO much mormon weird. Abish is an angel. The heroes have Liahona Guides. The big villains are Cain and Ammon. It's so much fun.
6. Diversity of characters - 4 stars!
The main character and his husband are both white guys, but Fe is latina, her wife is black (and trans!), and Riley is a POC.
7. Other problematic stuff - 3 stars
I love this comic but I don't think it's for everyone. On top of being irreverent and nsfw, it also incorporates some indigenous american culture into the mythos in ways I'm not sure about. This is going to happen with anything that talks about Nephites and Lamanites, but mostly I don't know why Ammon has a pet Quetzalcoatl. 🤷
But, like I said, I did enjoy it. I think there's a lot of potential in these characters and I would love to see more stories with them

Mystery of the Emblem Book 1 Thoughts
-Getting to play through Shadow Dragon's story again is like coming home, especially since it's a fresh take on it for me
-That said, it really shows in retrospect how little Shadow Dragon DS added in terms of writing, because aside from the prologue, side missions and bonus conversations, it's basically the same lol
-It's so good to visit villages and have maps with varying geography and set pieces again. The chapter specific tips/flavor text along with the well built setting is really just prime FE storytelling for me.
-I personally don't mind the cut chapters and characters as much as I thought I would tbh. I never liked using the Ballisticians, there's no worth in using axe users like fighters or pirates, Wrys is more of a meme than an actual character IMO, and Roger is an armor knight in an early FE game which doesn't bode well for him. Gotoh not joining in the final map is the only one I miss, but that's not a big loss at the end of the day. As for the chapters, it's a similar sentiment. There is some story bits and nuance that have been lost with it that are in Shadow Dragon, but ultimately it doesn't change the foundation of the story too much to make a difference. Plus, the chapters that were cut in Book 1 were lowkey some of the most annoying in SD, especially Wooden Cavalry.
-Gameplay pretty solid. Like I said a few days ago, it plays really well even today, unlike what I thought it would for a 30 year old game.
-The only archaic snag is deployment not letting you influence where units start at, with it being solely decided by selection order and not being able to be seen before starting the map. And that only became a problem in the last couple of maps (Endgame especially, since specific units being in specific places matters a good deal).
-LOVE busted stat boosters, 11 Mov Marth go brrrrrrr. Also bias for Linde by giving her the early speed ring payed off in spades, she was a champ.
-My opinion on class changing ASAP being almost always the most beneficial move (with extra unpromoted levels past the 10 benchmark serving as insurance for those units not falling off) was really cemented here. Having an early Hero Ogma, for example, really bolstered my turns and gave me a safety net just in case I made mistakes.
-FE3's unique quirks and mechanics, like dismounting, set experience gain, and the weapon level stat got me to use characters I never gave time to in SD DS, such as Wendell (the prime backup slot tbh), Jeorge (Silver Bow go crazy) and Lorenz (the Gradivus guy on the two final indoor maps).
-Idk if this is a hot take, but from using Tiki and even Bantu in early maps, FE3 has the best implementation of the dragon stones imo. Lore wise I think it makes much more sense to have a 5 turn transformation cost 1 use, rather than each individual attack costing one. And gameplay wise, imma be real, why shouldn't the transformation characters be kind of busted? I get that people don't want a 'Press Manakete To Win' type of situation, but I think for instances where you only get one of them, this is the way to go. At the very least, it's much better than Myrrh's situation in FE8, and from what I heard, Fae is even worse than that.
-Overall just a grand old time. Not sure if I'd go and replay Book 1 anytime soon since I still think SD DS has merits that make it an equal but different experience, but it was worth playing and then some.

post fe rarepair week flora ramblings
I've never really talked about Flora much or why I love her (partially because I am very bad at explaining anything), but after rarepair week, I thought it would be nice to at least attempt to write about Flora in the context of ships, after drawing 5 of them lol.
so: 5 Flora ships I like + 1 I don't. (This is actually really long...)
Rinkah I will admit the ✨aesthetics✨ of the ship does come into play alot here. Heirs of the Ice and Fire Tribe lol. Also, I only really started actually liking this ship after reading this fic years ago. With the way Flora chose to go in BR, obviously there's symbolism in it, but then in the context of this ship, it just evokes a lot of feelingsTM. I like the idea that the fire Flora used being unable to be extinguished was solely due to her own guilt and suffering and determination..but I also do like the idea that it was literally special and something possibly from the fire tribe, and perhaps Rinkah could have known how to stop it. (both is good). Going into some parallels(?). Obviously they both feel a sense of responsibility to their family/tribe. Rinkah is very proud of her tribe, and generally can get heated up and act without thinking (although not always). On the other hand, I feel that Flora feels much more burdened by her responsibilities, and tends to hold herself back and hide how she's feeling. I'm not saying she hates her tribe or isn't proud of it, but their tribe's situations are really different, so it wouldn't be so straightforward for Flora. I never really got the vibe that Flora wants to be the heir of her tribe, but just accepts it as her reality so never considers anything else (beyond fantasies). I definitely think these two together would be really nice. They probably would clash over the different ways they handle themselves and their tribes, but eventually I think they would have a lot to learn from each other and can grow together :)
Kaze This is something in common with Rinkah, but I have kind of a vague mini AU idea of how when Corrin and co let Kaze and Rinkah go, they still ran into Flora on the way out. Flora let them go as well, and where things go from there is up in the air. Anyways, yes. I did initially ship these two due to their (possible) BR story deaths. I love tragic stories. Yes, they never would have met in BR, but that's why I have that mini AU idea lol. I like the ship in both flavors: they still end up as in BR, or they end up happy (somehow. after going through alot. or in some other AU. lol) Now more about their parallels. (I like my parallels....this won't be the last time I mention them....) Guilt is a large part of both their character arcs. And it leads both to their death. Kaze felt guilt over being unable to stop Corrin's kidnapping. How this "leads" to his death? Because he can be saved by reaching A support with Corrin. He is saved by becoming closer with Corrin, and choosing to be loyal to Corrin, not out of guilt, but because he wants to. So, by not reaching this conclusion (not reaching A), he is still feeling alot of guilt over Corrin's kidnapping, and doesn't entertain the idea that his life is worth trying to preserve, and just saves Corrin. It's not like he wanted to die, but in my interpretation, by no longer being weighed with guilt, he puts more value on not only his life but his friendship with Corrin, which is why he takes the time to think of a way to save them both (which I think was more risky than just saving Corrin). (how did this become about Kaze) (anyways) Flora's is way more obvious. She's guilty over betraying Corrin's trust (and her sister's and Jacob's). But she also can't stop. Her family and tribe is being threatened. So in her mind, by dying, she can both free herself of guilt (and probably still protect her remaining tribe (not that there was any guarantee Garon would have kept them alive anyway, but guilt and grief can really affect someone's thoughts/actions)). Kaze after the A support, and Flora by the time she joins in CQ and Rev, have both chosen to follow Corrin, not from guilt or with resentment, but because they truly want to. So anyways--I just think they would be really sweet together (past the tragedy lol). Helping each other learn to value themselves would be such a good dynamic.
Saizo So I actually started shipping Flora and Saizo after reading a Felicia/Kaze fic lmao. Yeah typical "woo twins cool" but really. To a lesser extent but similar to with Rinkah, Flora and Saizo have the ice/fire thing going on. Plus the responsibility to tribe/clan. The whole, being an older twin and trying to look after their sibling, is also a fun angle for them to bond over eventually lol. Personality-wise, I would be all like "opposites attract" and all that, but I actually don't think their personality is that different. I feel like they both don't outwardly show much personal emotion (well, kinda.), but really are pretty intense. Both Saizo and Flora can be opposed to their twin in the games (since Kaze and Felicia stick with Corrin on every route). They both try to take on things by themselves to a probably detrimental degree. I have less to say about this ship, because its kind of really similar to why I like Rinkah and Flora. These two would probably start out on an even worse foot than Rinkah and Flora though. I feel like Saizo would definitely not trust Flora considering Corrin fights Flora on all routes, but at the same time Flora was doing it to protect her tribe, so that could be the start to them slowly getting along. Makes the relationship improving over time satisfying :) lol
Azura I have so many feelings about these two. Truly a goldmine of parallels. (also ✨aesthetics✨ again with water&ice) While Azura was taken into an arguably better situation and environment and Flora wasn't, they were both technically taken as hostages. They both have someone in the same boat (Corrin for Azura, and Felicia for Flora) who is ignorant about the situation, and who they feel is more loved/favored than them. While Azura is treated relatively well in Hoshido, obviously not everyone is happy with her presence there and she still doesn't truly "belong," and is very aware of originally only being there as a way to try to retrieve Corrin. With Corrin, Azura pushes them as the one who is supposed to be there, and witnesses both royal families try to bring Corrin home, while she is relatively forgotten. Flora on the other hand has Felicia with her, but Felicia doesn't know about their situation. Flora feels a sense of responsibility to protect her sister, but that definitely also does lead to a sense of being "less" in my opinion. They were kids when they were sent away from their tribe, and I understand why Flora and not Felicia was told the situation (one of them *should* know, but might as well protect the other) but still. They were little, and since they're twins, they are the same age so the only reason Flora was the one told is that she is "older" and the heir. But to Flora, it could feel like Felicia is more important to keep safe/happy rather than having them both share the burden (while also wanting to keep Felicia safe. Conflicting feelings are a thing.) They both have (in my opinion) self-worth issues (related to the above lol). (I have a hard time articulating this but I'll try) Azura, in BR and CQ, essentially chooses to sacrifice herself. She takes on the burden of stopping Anankos (I suppose inherited knowledge from her mother) without really letting anyone know (partially due to the curse but still). Maybe there wasn't any other way she could see to move forward, but that doesn't change the fact that she felt it was fine to sacrifice herself, and not try to find some way to tell Corrin what she is doing. Flora's self-worth issues come a lot from her relationship with her family/tribe. Since she was little, Felicia was always better at fighting than her, so Flora was never praised for it by their father (which also contributes to feeling less loved). As the heir, it would make her feel inadequate (and she herself admits she is jealous of Felicia). So uh yeah. I think having these two with their bundle of issues grow closer would be so so good. They could totally!! learn to love themselves!! together!! and learn to share their burdens/ask for help!! ahhh ...and a bit off topic but I have an Azura and Flora-centric AU (not necessarily a relationship with them) where Garon somehow found out the plot to kidnap Azura to try to get Corrin back, so he switches Flora in her place, so Flora gets kidnapped to Hoshido...the possibilities with Azura growing up with the Nohrian royals. And Flora somehow having to live in Hoshido alone, while Felicia is left behind in Nohr. (sorry i just love this AU idea)
F!Corrin Yes, specifically F! and not M! Corrin. Mostly because of why I originally started shipping them + F!Corrin is more associated with Nohr, which I prefer. Anyways; Flora and Corrin was my first Flora ship, and is still my preferred one if I *had* to pick. (no one asked, but Azura is my second pick) So I started shipping these two because of their support conversation. I just immediately loved how sweet it is. I mean!!?? Flora secretly going to wish for Corrin's wish to be granted, and Corrin's wish is for Flora to find happiness!?!?! It's so so good. Anyways, with Corrin, I want to talk about Flora's life and feelings growing up as a hostage in Nohr. Unlike Felicia and Jakob, Flora obviously wasn't entirely loyal to Corrin. She is entirely aware she is a hostage. I think Flora, while living as a servant in Nohr, initially feels resentment towards Corrin (and the other Nohr royals). With Corrin, it's a bit different though. I'm actually not sure that Flora knew that Corrin was kidnapped from Hoshido, but under the assumption she does know, I think Flora would feel more personal resentment as a result of Corrin also being essentially a hostage, but being treated so well while being ignorant. It's not really a rational reason, but feelings are feelings. Over time, I feel Flora would come to care about Corrin in her own way, but would try to ignore/forget it/pretend to herself she doesn't, considering her status as a hostage and loyalty to her tribe. By the time she joins Corrin in game, she has chosen to follow Corrin herself. No outside coercion. She finally decides to be loyal to Corrin after witnessing her character (and being able to ensure her tribe is safe). After Flora finally can stop being weighed down by her situation, it opens up the possibility of...opening up. She definitely wouldn't open up right away though. The effect of years of living as a hostage doesn't just go away. And as she (and her sister) choose to continue to serve Corrin, there is still the master/retainer distance. But eventually they can get closer (and with Corrin being Corrin) be more on the level of equals. And obviously they care about each other (i am still screaming about the support conversation). I just love them.
Jakob OK, after all that, here is the one ship I want to talk about that I don't actually ship, and how I choose to interpret it. I don't care if others ship Flora and Jakob, but just I personally don't. But I wanted to talk about it because of Flora's canonical crush on him. (preface with: this is my chosen interpretation, you can disagree) I don't think Flora could have been really happy with Jakob. Perhaps if they had met in some other way than canon. But as it is, they were servants to the Nohrian royal family, and Jakob specifically is incredibly devoted to Corrin. On the other hand (regardless of how she ultimately ended up feeling), Flora was a hostage, and aware of it (already went into this with my explanation of my Flora and Corrin ship). To me, their relationship is too entwined with being in service to Corrin, because that is their life as they know each other. They don't really have a "work life" and separate "home life." If they got together and were no longer servants, I feel like it would be a constant reminder of the past (in addition to the fact that Jakob I'm sure would still be devoted to Corrin) (Why I think this isn't a problem with Corrin: if Flora and Corrin were together, they'd be together as equals, decidedly different from the past where Flora was a servant) (Why I think this isn't a problem with Kaze and Saizo: an important part of this is that Jakob and Flora serve Corrin together for years. and it's during the years of Flora being a hostage, which once again, I already talked about. with Kaze and Saizo, there isn't really that baggage, and at the time they would have really met, Flora would have been choosing to be there.) A ship dynamic where both characters mutually agree/know (verbally or not) that one or both of them put someone else over their SO can work, and in fact I think is very interesting! I just don't think it works with these two. And I don't think Jakob could never put his SO over Corrin. It's just specifically with Flora, as I mentioned, their life is so entwined with doing just that. And for Flora, I don't think she could ever be completely happy with that (due to insecurities and such that I also went into with Flora and Azura). As for Flora's crush on Jakob; it can be taken at face value. She likes him. People have crushes. the end. lol. But, for why (I think/interpret) she likes him. I think a part of why she likes him is for a sense of normalcy. I think this is subconscious, I don't think she's like "I'm going to like Jakob to feel normal" lmao. But like, since she was young, she's been made to be a servant as a hostage. There isn't really any respite from this. She's there, in the castle. Not like she can say she's going on vacation and take off for a break from being a hostage. So just simply liking someone, was something of her own. That couldn't be taken from her, couldn't be forced. Does this mean she doesn't actually like Jakob? No. I do believe she does. In a way, I feel she ironically put him on a pedestal, and made him unreachable for herself (so that even Corrin was more "in reach" than him).
Anyways. That concludes my ramblings on Flora through the lens of shipping, though I don't think I actually talked about the ships that much, rather than parallels. lol. I hope it at least made some sense. Sorry if there were some inaccuracies(?), this is all my interpretations based mostly on my memory of things.
also happy new year! 🎉 :P
