#shepherds of haven#grgurghei bear with me here#but consider a fic where the game keeps resetting but MC retains their memory of every playthrough they've been through before#groundhog day where they just have to keep reliving everything over and over#they start speedrunning trying to find and make The Choice that breaks them out of the cycle#they romance different people--save Prihine but not Caine--go with Tallys and not Trouble--#but nothing works and they keep waking up that day in the Kinley Traders camp#they also never manage to fall out of love with their canon RO#but even then they still miss “the first one”#the one that they went through everything with the first time#when everything was fresh and new and thrilling and they didn't know the next words that would come out of their beloved's mouth every time#they start playing fast and loose with things because they know they'll just be doing the same thing over again soon enough#like yes it sucks when so-and-so dies but they get inured to it because they'll just do it over again when the whole shebang resets#doesn't matter when the hunters all die of sickness we'll just fix that up next time and no one will be the wiser#but then--during what feels like the thirtieth run of the Quiial mission#Chase or Blade or Ayla or whomever acts just a bit different#they say something they haven't said before#they balk at going through the door like they know what's about to happen#and after some weirdness MC and RO realize they *both* remember#they've been separately running through their own groundhog days--reincarnating over and over#and reliving the same missions and variations and pains and deaths while remembering the first run#but now they've suddenly landed *in the same version of the game*#and suddenly the stakes are wayyyy high again lol#am i insane or is this a cool idea#anyway lol i'd call it something like 'variations on a refrain'#spoilers#heavy#alpha build#alpha preview#random

#i changed his colors !!#treat this as a suggestion than a solid ref. i spent like 3 hours drawing and redrawing the legs bc i couldnt get the shape right so if u#wanna draw them more planti or digi i do not mind ^_^ get silly with it!! same goes for pelt pattern do whatevr u want with it#the pelt pattern is loosely based on a snowshoe cat which was fun to play with. as u can see they kinda have a butterfly motif going on#if u squint the ear tufts kinda resemble luna moths or swallowtails with the long tail at the end of the wings#i was kinda torn about changing the costume color but it clashed too much with the new color palette so i had to change it#i didnt include the cape here so its easier to see the costume but ill draw it another time if i remember lol#its also a lil hard to see but i put pinstripes on their pants but thats optional. their design is pretty flexible anyway#god im pretty attached to this guy already. hes like semi fan character semi regular character... oc... thing#i should draw more furries. i followed some furry artists for giggles recently and its true what they say. u need furries in your life#btw while i was drawing this i was fooling around while trying to figure out his costume color and colored it as kaito kids suit for fun#and i just stared at it for a solid 5 minutes before saving a picture. maybe ill post it later#my art#myart#my oc#oc#furry art#fur#furry#laika's comet#laika's comet oc#fan character#sleight#ref sheet#oc ref sheet

so I finished side order recently
#splatoon#pearl houzuki#agent 8#marina ida#acht mizuta#my stuff#inktober piece 2 :)#shoutout to my brother who reminded me i could replay the credits whenever because i had to get some extra refs for eight's model#and saved me from having to slog up the tower again#now if only splatoon could do that for every cutscene eh. please#i want to relive a lot of cutscenes and youre killing me for it splatoon#anyway did you know splatoon's official art has. well it wildly varies from piece to piece#they all follow like a very loose guidelines but also they all split off into their own things half the time#me with seven tabs of art trying to figure out if i want to do lines to separate pearl's fingers: so this one has lines but this one doesnt#'this one isnt relevant to this issue all fingers are splayed'#so in the end i just did whatever i wanted. i think that's a core tenet of art. do whatever you want. forever#also spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out what was etched into marina's headphones#im 98% sure it is the off the hook logo. but nothing save from booting up splatoon and checking myself would say for sure#and i didnt wanna boot up splatoon cause if i did then id inevitably be down a couple hours because 'oh well im here already. one run maybe'#but regardless!! im proud of how this came out even if i was supposed to have finished two days ago to keep with my schedule#especially the bg :) i think i did really good on that.#and eight's little smile i think thats the charm point of the whole piece and it took me about ten drafts to get it properly#i think i did good on that too.#im so enamored with splatoon rn help

Intersectionality is something that, sadly, is often pushed to the side in Arcane discussions, specifically from a certain side of that fandom. They will go on and on about Viktor, as they usually do, talking about how he suffers from classicism and ableism within the show and fandom respectively (as they should as these are issues, but there is a catch when it comes to these fans as well), but when others in the fandom, especially Mel or even Sky fans, point out the racism and misogyny (misogynoir) that is often rampant in this fandom, particularly from said fans mentioned prior, all of a sudden its not possible or being overdramatized. Like they suddenly can't understand how some of their rhetoric includes or invites the same thing black fans have been calling out since the beginning, because how can you discuss the ableism and such that Viktor faces, but laugh or joke around with people who call Mel slurs or just denounce her to a trope? I thought you were for calling out forms of hate within fandom, or does your "activism" only stretch so far? And back to a previous statement, about the catch regarding those particularly fans----some of them regurgitate the same harmful rhetoric towards Viktor that they say they supposedly hate, just in mode subtle ways. How are you going to say you hate when Viktor is infantilized, but will be quick to forget he's a grown man who can defend himself (often when trying to pair him against Mel, framing her as the aggressor, and sometimes even Jayce too but to a lesser degree)? Not saying Jayce doesn't get equal amounts of hate, but his more so gets pushed aside along with his character to ultimately frame Viktor in higher regard, often making him ooc. It's like they pick and choose when the issues are prevalent, and when they aren't, and it's so frustrating.
#and it's so annoying to see as someone who for actually doesn't mind/kind of likes viktor as a character bc whenever i try to interact more#with him in fandom these types of fans make it so hard bc they overwhelm you with things that are so out of character that they practically#rewrite arcane to where viktor becomes overt stereotypes and looses what made him interesting to begin with#like you can hardly find analysis on his character at the end of s2 and how that is ACTUALLY SAD without getting the 3rd degree or see#j*yviks paint it as romantic#and it's very gross how they often frame viktor in this way to frame poc characters (like mel or jayce) as aggressors while ignoring how#everyone in arcane is flawed (including viktor) to different degrees and how characters can disagree without actually hating one another#(this is especially prevalent regarding melvik where people act like it can't happen bc mel “looked at viktor wrong”#but will be the same people to ship jayvik even though jayce was classicst as well....noticing)#but it's very weird how they only always talk about mel in regards to how she is around viktor & nothing else but complain about how mel#fans don't understand her---which is bs bc you'd be hard pressed to find many mel fans who don't write 1k thesis on her#heck some even say that the council bombing was justified even with mel being there!#and if they really want to go into detail about how mel's class and inaction impacts zaun fine go ahead but why stay silent#when people point out how she eventually changed and strived to help them or how viktor ended up causing more harm than good down the line?#like these could be great narrative stories for how one character starts with wanting to help those in need but becomes corrupted by his#own ambition and ends up becoming a bigger threat than what he and others like him suffered with before#but no it's easy for them to paint mel = bad and viktor = smol who can do no wrong#arcane#anti arcane fandom#arcane viktor#arcane mel#mel medarda#fandom criticism#fandom racism#fandom misogyny#also bc you can tell these people are on some bs bc they'll rave about how mel didn't care about zaun (which is untrue) but turn around and#say “but jayce-” like he wasn't causing zaun trouble as well#like im all for being critical about mel's complacency about zaun and all but don't act like jayce is any better#matter of fact why even try to do that? what purpose did it serve when there's literally proof against your point? hmm

i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies
BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...
#pjo#riordanverse#pjo tv crit#i do love the casting for the musical lots and lots though#it was really good#i do also have some nitpicks for show casting but they're largely inconsequential#like majority i very much enjoy and think are cast well#i only have one i'd say im actually disappointed with and that's Poseidon. idk he just feels. bland??? does that make sense?#like idk maybe it's the costuming but im not getting Sea God *or* Fishing Dad from him#like i think i kinda see what they were going for and i saw some gifs of him in another show where he plays a pirate and its like#okay. *little* bit better. but idk im just not getting Poseidon from it#in general most of the immortals in the show dont feel very Immortal(tm) but thats definitely mostly just the writing/show itself#not any reflection of the casting#my only other two are i would have liked plus sized Clarisse. i am VERY sad we didnt get that#Dior is a VERY good Clarisse though so i'm not too upset about it. i like her Clarisse energy. the yelling is fantastic.#my most controversial pjo tv take is im still meh on Walker. like he's fine. but like he's kind of Just Fine to me so far#its probably mostly the writing being bad but he hasnt grown on me as Percy yet. i can tell he has the energy though in interviews n stuff#and the main trio dynamic in interviews and stuff is *very* good. i just wish the show writing was better#because the casting IS very good but they have so little to work with. you can really tell theyre trying their best#i like to joke the show would be better if they just set the cast loose in the woods doing in-character improv#like its clear basically all of them know their characters SUPER well. id watch 8 episodes of in the woods pjo cosplay improv.

why is the concept of showing empathy for drug/alcohol addicts so hard to understand for some ppl? v.v they suffer too sis, that problem has to come from somewhere and i bet most of them would rather not be addicted in the first place. some people don't know what nuance is i swear. am i crazy for having empathy with addicts??? i don't think so.
#tw drinking#tw alcohol abuse#tw depression#tw addiction#context: i have a friend i've known for a long time (i use the term friend loosely because she's getting on my nerves A LOT lately#and every time i show an ounce of empathy for someone whose addicted to any kind of substance she gets judgy as hell#and uses my personal experience against me to try and change my mind#“but didn't your dad drink himself to death and made life so hard for you and your family?”#sis °-° he had manic depressive episodes and drinking was his coping mechanism for it#he was never abusive towards other people only to himself but ofc watching him wasting away when i was a teen was fucking hard.#he also grew up in a time where mental health problems weren't talked about as much as it is today especially regarding men#so he had a hard time getting help#addiction is a symptom to a bigger problem most if not all of the time but so many people don't see that shit#they just talk for the sake of talking v.v#ofc are some addicts also abusive to others and that's not okay#but that problem comes from somewhere#also she is a smoker btw just saying ;)#sorry for rambling#needing to VENT °.°#prolly delete later#cw drinking#cw depression#cw addiction

A dark green tendril taps at a microphone, the object all too tiny for its grip. A split second of ear piercing feedback runs its way through the area, some of the camera crew wincing or jumping at the noise. And for the briefest of moments, the tendril droops. Awkward!
It mimics the way someone rolls back their shoulders, in some attempt it off. A bright amber eye peers out from the darkness of its cove and right at the camera.
"R-Right." He can feel the bile rising up for what passed as his throat. Either that or it was nerves getting to him. Unpleasant regardless.
"I'm Steve. Most of you probably know that already seeing that most of you live here." Steve pauses for a moment. Whatever poor creature that got saddled as the director waving their hand as if to tell him to keep going. "And.... we're currently taking applications for some sort of, eh, speed dating event?" Thumbs up. That's good!
"There will be a few boxes dotted around town. The applications will be right next to them. Everyone is invited to participate, including visitors. If you prefer to talk to one group of people over the other, be sure to check off the boxes stating so. Not that I know anything about attraction." He trails off into a mumble. Oh, a frown. Right, important right now.
"The boxes will be open until Saturday, please submit them before then if you would like to be involved. I'll be here if you need a hand- er- tentacle!"
