jar of stars — peter parker (p. iii)
Setting: After homecoming, but during the sophomore year of high school Gender: Neutral Contains: Flufffffffff, a little bit of angst but honestly not really lol. Word Count: 2.2k
Summary: (Y/n) has a thing for paper stars. They also have a thing for Peter Parker but then an itsy bitsy spider comes ‘round and practically plays matchmaker.
a/n: Let me know if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes or if I accidentally say ‘she/he’ instead of the gender neutral ‘they’.
So, I finished this months after starting this and I’m posting this a few weeks after finishing it. It’s a little rushed towards the end since I kinda lost inspiration. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this series! I have two more series (6-part and 8-part w/ epilogue coming up but I have no clue when they’ll be finished.
p. i || p. ii || here!
Enjoy!  [repost from old account]

“You can’t just take someone, swinging through the buildings of Queens, Peter!” Tony yelled, gesturing his entire arm out. Peter walked up towards his mentor in his outfit, his arms out as he tried to explain himself.
“Yeah but Mr. Sta-”
“A bup bup bup!” Tony raised a finger up in the air, effectively shutting Peter up who could only tighten his mouth in a straight line. “I’m talking here. Peter, I know you like this person a lot. (Y/n) right? What was it that you said to me about keeping your identity a secret?”
“To keep my loved ones safe.” They both said at the same time.
“Exactly,” Tony walked up towards Peter and wrapped an arm around the young teen. The two began to walk towards the car set outside the compound, ready to drive Peter home. “Someone could easily snap a picture and (Y/n) would be attached to your alter ego. I know you’re terrified to ask them out as - well - you,” Tony gestured towards Peter’s entire body.
“Wait, what do you mea-”
“But you’re going to have to. And not play around as Spider-Man to do so. Pepper is always in danger because of me. And trust me, I hate it. I’ve pushed her away in the past a few times and all of those who have been close to me because I’m scared of them getting hurt. You don’t need that on your conscience that young, if at all. I really - and I mean it - I really think you should stop talking to them. As Spider-Man, anyways.”
Peter  pursed his lips as he took in everything Tony said. Nodding his head, he said, “Yeah. Yeah, I’ll stop talking to them. As Spider-Man.” The two of them finally reached the black car, Happy already in the drivers seat.
Tony reached over to open the door for Peter and then patted his back. “I knew you were a smart kid, Parker.” Peter smiled up at Tony as he got into the car.
“Thanks, Mr. Stark.”
“Uh, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Tony?” Tony quirked a brow and pointed at the boy seated in the car. “Oh, whatever, just get home safe or May will kill me.”
Tony patted the top of the car once the door shut and watched until the car left his line of vision.
Peter looked inside your room, watching as you worked on some stars while binging a show. He probably should knock, since this was kind of creepy, but you just looked so calm. No worries in the world. However, he raised his hand and rapped two knuckles on the window. You jolted a bit in your seat, looking at the window only to smile in relief when you recognized his mask.
You took off your earbuds and got up to open the window. You leaned out of it staring at the whites of his mask.
“It’s late, what are you doing?” You asked, smiling and recalling the earlier events of the day. You couldn’t read the emotions etched on his face, but the way his body shifted side to side and how he moved his head to the side you could sense that something was up. You frowned. “Spider-Man?”
“Sooo, Mr. Stark caught me taking you through Queens.” He scratched the back of his neck, still not meeting your eyes. “He said I shouldn’t do that, or talk to you as Spider-Man. And I think so too. It can put you in serious danger if one of my enemies caught me with you and I don’t want to be the reason you get hurt. I’m really sorry and I hope you understand.” He began to walk away and raised his arm up to head back home but you reached out towards him, grasping onto his arm.
“Wait!” You urged. He glanced back at you. “Just, wait for a second.” You let go of his arm and ran into your room. Digging under your bed, you reached for a certain jar and ran back to the window. You held out the Spider-Man themed jar to him.
“It-It makes sense,” you said, “to stop talking to me. I get it. And as much as it sucks, I’m glad I got to know you. So at the very least, take this. You know, to remember me.” He gingerly took it out of your grasp and adired the spider design on the side.
He looked up into your eyes, “Thank you.”
You choked back a few tears before you said, “Good luck in life. And stay safe.”
Peter smiled. “I will. Thank you, (Y/n). For being a big part of my life. Make sure to tell Peter by the way.”
You nodded your head in response, not trusting your voice, before he jumped off the fire escape and into the night. You sighed, glancing up at the night sky. You weren’t met with the twinkling of stars, for they did not shine that night.
The dark circles under your eyes would not go away, no matter how much concealer you tried to put on. That much was evident to all your friends.
MJ frowned and furrowed her brows as she put an arm around you. “Dude, why do you look like you were up all night studying.”
Not wanting to tell the truth you replied, “Because I was?”
“Dude, (Y/n), you’re going to be fine,” Ned said, nudging you slightly with his elbow. You made sounds of protests in response but then quickly looked over at Peter. He was deathly quiet and usually would rush over to you the moment he knew you were killing yourself over school. But he looked just as tired, he was just lucky he didn’t have dark circles as evident as yours.
No one knew that you were close friends with the hero of Queens. Not even MJ but she knew something was up when you’d stop replying to her texts or wouldn’t hang out with her at night. So it’s not even like you could tell someone how you’ve been feeling since he cut you off.
It sucked. But you knew that it was because of how it could put you in danger. But there was still that voice in the back of your head wondering if he just cut you off because he was tired of you. Insecurities of yours wandered around in your head for the rest of the day.
You sat next to Peter with Ned, Cindy, and a few others, at the lab table in physics. Your head on the desk, looking at Peter’s well defined profile. You were thankful that Mrs. Warren didn’t assign any work after the AP exams; it meant you could sleep. But for some reason, even though you were extremely tired, you just watched Peter play card games with the rest of the group. The way his eyes crinkled when he laughed at something stupid. That one eyebrow that defied gravity. It was like you were falling for him all over again.
Maybe you should follow Spider-Man’s advice. Even if he never spoke to you again, you trusted him.
Your eyes began to close, listening to the voices of your friends and Peter’s laugh lulled you into dreamland.
The annoying sound of your alarm caused you to groan as you rolled over to slam the snooze button on your phone. You closed your eyes again as you drifted off into dreamland but the alarm that was set five minutes after went off causing you to groan again.
Your drowsy eyes slowly opened up as you rubbed your face with your hands. Tossing the blankets to the side, you groggily got up to get ready for school. You really regretted staying up to finish a season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine before the last day of school. Nah, it was so worth it.
It had been about a week and a few days since Spider-Man cut everything off with you. But with how it was the last day of school, you figured you should end it following his advice.
So there you were, standing in front of your jar-shelf trying to pick a confession jar. Which one would Peter like the most?
“It’s Peter, he wouldn’t care which one. Just if he got one,” you thought. And you knew you were right but the other voice kept saying otherwise. It wasn’t until your dad yelled at you saying you were going to be late, again, that you grabbed a random one and ran off to catch the subway.
The last day of school went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, you didn’t see Peter all day or even after school. Block schedule for finals were the worst.
“So you’re finally doing it?” Michelle asked as she walked you to the station.
You nodded your head, “Yeah, I haven’t seen him all day and Ned hasn’t either. So I’ll probably stop by his place since it’s on the way to mine.”
“Alright, doesn’t sound to bad. Tell me how it goes, loser,” Michelle smirked and you rolled your eyes, punching her shoulder lightly as she walked off to her train to take.
“I’ll text you tonight, get home safe, ho bag!” You called out, ignoring the looks from the older adults around you. You smiled to yourself as you got onto the train and shifted around to look for a seat, only to realize you were going to have to stand this time around. Again. Which was fine.
You gripped one of the handles as you pulled out your phone to check your messages. Replying quickly to a few friends, you pulled up Peter’s chat and let him know that you were stopping by. You shoved your phone back into your pocket and took a deep breath for what was to come.
You knocked on Peter’s apartment with two fingers and went back to grasp the straps of your backpack to ease your nerves. You waited for a bit and then heard a ruckus on the other side, only to see May open up holding a rag. She paused and then burst into a smile as she realized it was you.
“(Y/n)! It’s so nice to see you,” she gushed, ushering you into the apartment. You smiled up at her, your eyes flickering over to Peter’s door as you talked.
“Yeah, it’s been a while Mrs. Parker!” You brushed a hand through your hair.
“Oh,” she waved the rag nonchalantly, “just call me May. You’re probably here for Peter, you can just walk in, he just got back from school.” You nodded your head and thanked her before heading over into his room, taking out the jar from your bag.
You knocked a few times before clasping your hand around the doorknob and let yourself in. You suddenly became more aware of the jar that sat in your hands when you made eye contact with Peter who looked up at you from his bed on his phone. He jolted out of his bed and fixed his hair from tossing around in his bed.
“(Y/n), I just got your message,” he breathed out. Smiling as he moved around his room trying to clean up his slight mess. As he shuffled things around on his desk you couldn’t help but notice an oddly familiar jar that sat perched on it. Your face scrunched up in confusion and you tilted your head as you tried to recall the star jar that sat on his desk.
Peter looked up at you, “So, what do you need to-”
“Holy shit.”
The jar in your hand would have shattered if it hit the floor. But Peter reached forward fast enough to catch it before it did.
Peter probably should have realized you’d figure it out, that he was Spider-Man. So when he glanced up at your frozen figure, worry flooded over him.
“Peter?” You asked sternly, your finger pointing at the jar you had given him, or Spider-Man, weeks earlier. He followed your eyes that were looking in the same direction as your finger then back up at you.
“Yeah?”
“Are you Spider-Man?”
“Yes?”
“Oh, okay. Well, that jar’s for you. You should open it.” You walked out of his room, closing his door for a second. Peter stood there watching you leave, his mouth agape. Glancing down at the jar, realizing that you had followed his advice, then up to see your back about to leave his apartment, he set down the jar on his desk and ran after you.
“(Y/n), wait!” Peter called for you, jumping over the couch and setting his hand on your shoulder. You stopped mid-step but didn’t turn around to face him. “I - uh - I don’t know what to say.”
You closed your eyes, unsure of how to feel. “I liked you.”
Peter tilted his head and pulled his hand away from your shoulder. “Liked?”
You chuckled and moved your head down a bit. “I liked you, you know. Spider-Man. And you. God, I don’t even know what I’m feeling. Relieved? That I wasn’t confused on who I liked? Happy? Because it’s you.  Or mad? Since you essentially used Spider-Man to get to me. Kind of broke my heart when Spider-Man stopped talking to me and when you got too busy with the Stark Internship to even make time for me or Michelle or Ned!” You brought your arm up to your face, wiping away stray tears.
Peter stood there and pursed his lips. His eyes watering a little bit since he was frustrated at himself for doing this to you.
You opened your mouth, about to tell Peter you were going to leave when you heard him talk.
“I’m sorry.” He shifted his weight on his feet and you turned to face him. “I am so, so, sorry about the distress I put you through.” He looked into your eyes, occasionally glancing elsewhere. “I shouldn’t have  to use Spider-Man to get close to you like that. I should have made more time for you as me. I just-uh-I should have told you about Spider-Man. And I’ll make it up to you! Because talking to you again as Spider-Man made me so ecstatic. I thought-I thought you hated me. You never gave me a jar and-and I was always scared. Scared to talk to you as me. So-so-so I thought,” Peter waved his arms around, not really looking at you by the time he got here, “I thought Spider-Man would be easier to talk to you. And it was-”
You wrapped your arms around him into a hug. “You talk wayyy too much Parker. I get it. It still doesn’t make it right though.” Peter smiled and you felt his arms wrap around you.
“I know. I’ll make it up to you.” Peter nuzzled his face into your hair.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Okay,” you slightly moved away from Peter looking up at him. “I trust you.” Peter grinned. “Now, you just gotta fill me in on everything.”
“I will.”

hi, tumblr — it's been (way longer than) a minute, but i'm back from the chaotic journey that was junior year! and with that, i wanted to continue what i started with my advice for rising freshmen and rising sophomores; i’ll be writing a final post for rising seniors once i (theoretically) finish high school.
note: i'm currently attending high school in the united states, so there are certain points i mention that may not apply to you if you aren't also studying in the u.s., but i still hope that you get something out of this post!
note 2: this post is pretty long -- a lot longer than the previous advice posts -- and also pretty personal. i go in-depth on what junior year was like for me (spoiler: not great), and subsequently, i have plenty of advice to help avoid some of what i ended up experiencing.
my junior year experience
for reference, click [here] a list of my junior year classes (along with classes i’ve taken and plan to take). i took two ap courses, and the rest of my courses with the exception of band were honors courses.
to be blunt -- junior year was one of my worse years of high school, academically and mentally. sophomore year was definitely one of my lowest points, too, but junior year was really shitty in a lot of ways. i was busy working (trying to) nearly all the time, and i found myself constantly under stress, struggling to maintain my grades -- especially in my calculus and physics classes. at a certain point in the year, i subconsciously stopped caring, i think, to the point where i couldn’t focus at all when i was working, instead opting to do things that were considerably less productive. i’d study for up to five minutes at a time, only to stress myself out of studying and go to sleep -- yes, i stressed myself to sleep. other nights, i’d stay up doing absolutely nothing, in spite of the massive amounts of work and studying i still had left to do. i was close to failing my physics class, at one point, too, and physics was arguably the class i studied and worked the hardest for.
another reason that this year was pretty terrible for me was the fact that i was recovering from several injuries. in june of 2018, i injured my knees -- for reasons i’d prefer not to disclose -- and though they were healing over the summer, with marching band, the injuries were only exacerbated. if you want an idea of how bad they were, i struggled to simply walk short distances if i didn’t have any sort of support. marching band is basically dignified, faster walking, so you can imagine the kind of stress that i was under. because of this, i had to stop dancing and take a season of winter guard off -- two of my biggest emotional releases in life. without both of those things for over six months, i felt pretty directionless, and i ended up relapsing (i have chronic depression). that along with the business of junior year made life feel pretty damn miserable. physical therapy didn’t help me, i had virtually no time to schedule a meeting with a therapist or other mental health professional, and i was exhausted 24/7.
all this being said, junior year still had its good moments! i got to take two astronomy semester courses, both of which only reinforced my love for astronomy  -- i’ll be doing astronomy-related research in the fall - i got to play some pretty damn good music in band, qualified and made all-state band for the first time, and i became closer with my best friends and got to make new ones. i completed a year-long research paper (while missing quite a few deadlines on the way) that turned into what’s probably the most vulnerable piece of writing i’ve ever produced (message me if you’re interested in reading it!), and i didn’t fail any of my classes. good stuff.
more on not failing my classes: 2nd semester was kind of weird for me, in that my grades went up in some classes, but slowly sort of decreased in others. for example -- i studied and worked my ass off trying to improve my calculus grade during 1st semester, but my exhaustion caused me to fall asleep during a lot of classes, meaning that i would always miss the material being taught, and by the time i got home that day, i was so exhausted that i would just fall asleep until the next morning, not even bothering to figure out what i had missed during class. with physics, worked harder than i ever had during 1st semester, but i continued to receive low scores on tests and heavily relied on my lab and quiz grades to keep me afloat. i cared less about japanese more and more, (which SUCKS because i really loved the class and language but my effort just went downhill) and i can distinctly remember not studying for several of the tests that were administered, and as such, receiving subpar scores. i did, however, pass all of my finals and ap exams, which was definitely a plus.
tldr: my work ethic went to shit, and i salvaged it somewhat, at the cost of losing a lot of sleep and not eating for multiple days at a time WHICH IS NOT HEALTHY. DON’T DO THIS PLEASE. junior year was worse than sophomore year in a lot of ways, but i fucking MADE IT so who’s the real winner here
advice for junior year
my number one piece of advice is to take care of yourself. you’ve probably heard it before, but that’s because you should do it. i’m 100% serious when i say that it can really make a difference. i mentioned that i lost a lot of sleep and didn’t eat sometimes during the school year, and because of that, i was super super sick at one point which only made my mental health worse, which only decreased my ability to focus and work properly. please stay healthy ahh like hydrate, get some mf sleep, and eat well! if you have to choose between studying for a test and sleeping at 3am, then go the fuck to sleep. and it’s not just about being healthy enough to do well in school! it’s literally your own wellbeing. put your physical and mental needs first, no matter what.
for ap courses: highly recommend looking on the collegeboard website for practice questions! the website also outlines the test structures, which i found helpful for me when i was studying for the exams. if you’re hoping to score a 4 or 5 on your ap exams, it’s in your best interests to go in prepared as possible. iirc the website also provides overviews of all the content that should be studied/is covered on the exam, which can help structure your studying, too!
another thing on ap courses: while if you score well enough on ap exams, you might be able to transfer those credits to your college courses (if you enroll at a u.s. college), i wouldn’t recommend loading your schedule with ap courses. they’re college-level courses for a reason; they will be fast-paced and involve a lot of work on your part. a rule that i used when deciding what ap courses i would take in high school: if i didn’t particularly like the subject, then i took the honors version of the course. otherwise, if i felt like i could challenge myself, was interested in the course, and if it was available, then i signed up for it. i knew from sophomore year that i wasn’t good at dealing with both school and my mental health, so i recognized that i’d need to lessen my ap coursework as much as possible so that i didn’t throw myself into an even worse situation (i took zero aps sophomore year).
don’t spread yourself too thin involving yourself in things in and out of school. sort of similar to my philosophy of not overloading my schedule, i made sure that i only committed myself to extracurriculars that i cared about and enjoyed doing. i personally marched my third season of marching band, and remained involved in my school’s urban dance club as much as possible (though when i took a break from dancing, that was definitely harder, but towards the end of the year, i was able to participate in a few performances with my friends). i also participated in an outside wind ensemble every week, and that was plenty for me -- i had a lot of music to practice both for that group and my school’s band, and then i had to balance THAT with practicing music for private lessons & auditions, and with schoolwork. i know there are people who are involved in so many extracurriculars, which i wouldn’t recommend. devote yourself to what you love in high school; that will also give you something worth writing about in things such as college applications! better to pursue what you love with passion and authenticity than to sign-up for a club for the clout even if you’re not remotely interested in it.
if it’s offered where you live, i would recommend taking the sat and/or act during your junior year. i’d also recommend taking subject tests if you have the time for it. the earlier you take these tests, the more likely you are to have an opportunity to retake them if you don’t score as well as you hope. you can also start taking these tests during sophomore year -- i took sat subject tests in june of my sophomore year, took the sat twice during junior year, and i will be taking the act in july. i’ll also be retaking an sat subject test and taking a completely new one.
while it may be daunting, start thinking about college -- whether you want to go to college or not, where or what you’d like to study, etc. since i plan on majoring in music, i started researching sort of early so that i could give myself enough time to finalize a list of the colleges i am applying to and the repertoire i need to learn and practice for auditions. but regardless of what you decide to do with your future, no one is expecting you to have every step of your life labeled out. things can change, and that’s okay! that’s literally how life works. definitely reach out to your counselors if you want advice from them! i’d also recommend sitting down with your parents and talking about the college application process with them and what they can do to help you.
there’s a lot of pressure during junior year -- it’s the last full year of high school before college applications, and typical for students to be busy 110% of the time. that said, find time for yourself to destress and do nothing school or work-related. if it helps, schedule specific times of the day where you just relax and do something that makes you happy. finding a work-life balance can really make a difference (i say, not having one, though i have many friends who talk about this to me).
if you need help with anything at all -- talk to someone about it! feeling super stressed and shitty? talk to someone you trust, whether they’re your closest friend or a teacher (which reminds me, if you plan on asking a teacher for a rec, take time to talk with them if you can, it makes a difference). you are not alone. i know for some people (especially for me, actually), it can be super difficult to open up about what you’re dealing with, but it’s arguably better than trying to push your way through it all on your own.
best of luck during your junior year -- i believe in you<3
love, fei

I just thought of something that got me so shook... Throwing it back to the 1980s in Beacon Hills when the Sheriff, Claudia and Natalie attended Beacon Hills High school. Natalie was exactly like her daughter; pretty and popular. She had a little clique with her own "Jackson" as a boyfriend. She was super smart too, taking AP classes and exceeded them all. Sheriff was that geek in high school who wore some runned down fashion plaid and the same pair jeans everyday. Him, like all the other losers had a huge crush on the most beautiful and popular girl in school: Natalie. She never noticed him once; unless they were partnered up together in an advanced class they took. That was also how Noah found out how smart she really was, because he actually took a few of those AP classes and watched her answer everything perfectly. While Natalie's "Jackson" and the rest of her clique took academic or applied courses and never saw her in action, so it was easy for her to play dumb around them. Noah told his dad everything... everything about how she's the prettiest girl in school and how she's so popular but secretly the smartest person in the world, and that's how grandpa Stilinski knew about Lydia's mother when they went to go speak to him in 6x03. But Noah knew he could never be with her, he understood that he couldn't force someone to love him back and he accepted it. That's when he met Claudia around junior year. They started dating and the sheriff ended up falling in love with her, while Natalie was still in love with her "Jackson". By senior year, Natalie acted wiser; she didn't care about status anymore and she befriended Noah and Claudia while she still had her boyfriend. A few years later the sheriff and Claudia got married, as well as Natalie and her boyfriend. Noah brought a baby boy into the world around the same time Natalie brought a baby girl. Lydia grew up with her father for a couple of years until the fighting was unmanageable between her parents. By the time she was four, her parents divorced and Lydia and her mom lived alone. It wasn't until she had to raise a kid on her own that she started thinking back to all the sweet things Noah has done for her. It wasn't the fact that she could have been with him, but more so the fact that she could have seen this coming and done better. Her boy friend was never the responsible kind, and had uncontrolled anger issues while in high school. The only person she could really blame was herself. Sheriff lived a very healthy happy life with his wife and his son, until his wife was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia which led to her passing. Through out the years Sheriff and Natalie were aware both their kids were enrolled in the same school at the same time. By the time they got to high school, Natalie noticed how much Stiles really resembled Noah and Noah noticed how much Lydia really resembled Natalie. Natalie knew about Jackson being Lydia's boyfriend, she was a bit worried because of what happened to her and she didn't want her daughter to make the same mistake. So in 1x05 when Stiles went to her house to check on her, Natalie warm heartedly welcomed him in. "Honey there's a Stiles here to see you." It's not like Natalie thought she could get her to dump Jackson overnight, but she would at least give the opportunity to Stiles to show Lydia how much he really cares for her. In 2x12 the Sheriff asks Stiles "so is there anything there?" Noah asked this because those kids are only in their sophomore year and Lydia is already going to Stiles for comfort, and he was never able to give that to Natalie, especially during the early years of high school. "No, she's in love with someone else." But that little thing Lydia did, going to his house to find comfort, gave the sheriff hope that it may turn into something, even though Stiles doesn't believe it right now. Around season 3 when Jackson left her, he also left a void in Lydia's heart. To fill the emptiness she's been having some fun for herself by going around dating and having sex with jocks. Natalie was aware her daughter had a broken heart, and she was okay that she wanted to have a little fun, but it was hard to keep track of every guy she was with until Aiden. Around season 3 her and Stiles began to get closer, they mainly hung out as friends from what it looked like to Natalie, but she felt a lot better that her daughter was opening up to a really nice guy. Natalie got to know Stiles even better throughout the high school years, especially in junior year. She looked after him like he was her own, specifically when a false alarm that a spread of a virus came out during the PSAT exams. She wanted to make damn sure he was alright because she's grew on him and learned to like him just like her daughter. Season 4 really strengthened the relationship between Stiles, Lydia and the sheriff. All those late nights the duo would swing by the sheriff station and solve crimes together. The Sheriff could see how well they complimented each other; with her intelligence and his motivation, it just flowed nicely together. But Stiles started dating Malia. This affected Lydia greatly because she was starting to like him, and now all his attention is focused on her. Natalie can sense how Lydia felt, but she couldn't relate because she never once thought about Noah in a romantic way but what her and Stiles had was special. The Sheriff definitely could see through his son like a crystal diamond, he knows deep down he still likes Lydia but he won't say anything, he'll let him figure this one out on his own like how he's been figuring everything out on his own. But for now he was with Malia, and the Sheriff gladly accepted her. Malia kind of reminded the sheriff of Claudia, she would be good for him and if this was the path Stiles chose to go down, the sheriff would gladly accept any girl who makes his son happy. It was possible to fall in love the second time, and the Sheriff out of all people would understand that the most. Stiles and Malia had been dating for quite a while, and maybe Noah and Natalie thought history was meant to repeat itself. That Stiles and Lydia were never meant to be. So that's why in 5x03 the sheriff finally decided to give another try and ask Natalie Martin out on a date, and here was her second chance to say yes; so she did. But then a terrible turn of events changed what was suppose to be an amazing date. This is where both of them realized maybe history does repeat itself, but only for them. They were never meant to be, but maybe Stiles and Lydia were destined to be. And right after Lydia got cut up badly, Stiles was at the hospital being the most concerned for her injuries. Around season 5B the reason Natalie had a dislike towards Stiles was because her daughter, the only precious thing that mattered to her was hurt.  And of course Stiles would never hurt her physically but he did hurt her emotionally and he wasn't aware of it, but Natalie had seen it. He broke Lydia's heart when he started dating Malia, and she could see the dread in her daughters eyes every time those two were together. With this knowledge, Stiles was an easy target to dump all the blame on for Natalie's sake. She felt like she had lost all trust in that boy, she wouldn't even let him see her too long in 5x14. But in 5x16 when Natalie saw for herself what that boy had just done. He put himself through hell to get Lydia back, she watched from the side as this boy begged and begged for her life. That's when it felt the most real, that was it. That's what proved Natalie that Stiles really did care for her, that he was perfect for her. When Lydia said "Stiles saved me", the relief on Natalie's face says it all. She's been hating him for no reason when she could have been loving him for the right reason. After that moment all signs were pointing to light. Stiles and Lydia did it on their own. They got together on their own because they were destined to be, they changed history.

my advice for incoming freshmen (@girlysthread)
everything i say in this post is from my past experience as being a freshman in high school.
1. freshman year is when your grades start to really matter. every homework, quiz, exam, etc, goes towards your final GPA as a high school student. this number is important for college applications and class rank. so... do NOT slack off. do all your homework, study for all your tests, and give your best effort during class.
2. do NOT skip class! this may have been easy to do during middle school, but not in high school. skipping one day or even a class can set you so far behind. you’ll have tons of make up work and this just piles on and makes your life more stressful.
3. don’t feel discouraged after a bad grade. many of my teachers allowed me to retake a test or gave me extra credit to earn points back. teachers want you to succeed, just ask them in person for ways to make up your bad grade and they’ll be happy to help.
4. join as many clubs that you’re interested as possible. during the year, stay in the ones you’ll enjoy and leave ones that you don’t like. at the end of the year, you should have 1-3 clubs that you’re really dedicated to. this is a great way to meet friends and explore things you’re interested in.
5. try NOT to procrastinate as much as possible. I’ve done this before during exam season and I ended up just being so stressed with how much stuff I put off. days where I got my work done early, i felt so accomplished, relaxed & had time to do other stuff.
6. be prepared. even though you’re just a freshman, high school curriculum is so much harder than middle school. you’ll have so much more work to do and classes will be harder. it’ll take time to adjust. don’t stress, just slowly adapt.
7. know your teachers. during my year, I learned that my math teacher was strict with tests and late work. however, my science teacher was very easy going. i learned to prioritize my math work over my science work because I knew I had a chance to retake tests and turn in late work in science but not in math.
8. ask for help. don’t be afraid. if you’re ever confused about anything, ask if you can stay after or meet your teacher in the morning. make sure you clear up any confusion, because this will come back during exams and bite you in the ass.
9. know your schedule. study your schedule when you get it in the summer or set it as your phone lock screen. also take a look at your school map and find out where each of your classes are so you won’t get lost as easily on the first day.
10. get involved in the sport you want to. don’t chicken out. i did this and ended up regretting it very much. it’s easier to make the team freshman year and get better than waiting till sophomore year where try outs are harder.
11. if you’re not interested in a sport, it’s okay. not everyone is athletic, don’t be ashamed about it. focus on what you like: art, theater, writing, etc.
12. be nice to your teachers. it’s not cool to disrespect people who are putting effort in to teach you. develop relationships with your teachers and find one you can trust. it’s always great to go to a teacher for advice and comes in handy for college recommendation letters.
13. have fun. go to homecoming, football games, dances, fundraisers, events. you’ll regret not experiencing high school to its fullest.
14. be careful with dating. seniors tend to go after “fresh meat” just to get in their pants. don’t get involved with a senior, it’ll just end up complicated.
15. you don’t have to have sex. it seems like everyone is making out, having sex, drinking, etc. don’t feel pressured to do it. and you don’t have to say yes if you’re asked. take your time. if you do want to have sex, be careful who it’s with and use protection.
16. it’s okay if you don’t stay friends with people from middle school. people drift apart, and this is a chance to make new friends, in different grades too.
17. if you have study hall, USE IT. I had study hall during my first semester and i did my homework or studied during that period. it helped me so much.
18. always have headphones and a charger on you.
19. don’t buy 5 binders, 10 notebooks and a whole stationary kit with you for the first day. just buy essentials like pencils, a few folders and notebooks. find out what you need on the first day then buy more. I ended up not even having to use a notebook in a lot of my classes.
20. DO NOT stand in the middle of the hallway to talk to your friends & do not walk slow. it’s annoying.
21. you will be stressed. just relax, take a break, and do something else like meditate, watch tv, read, etc.
22. do not prioritize sports over grades. if your grades are bad, it will keep you from playing anyway.
23. don’t be so caught up in finding a perfect boy/girlfriend like in the movies. they’re just teens. they’ll mature as you get older and so will you.
24. be kind to everyone. simple as that.
25. don’t worry too much about relationships. focus on yourself first.
26. not everyone will like you or mix with your personality and that’s okay. don’t change yourself for anyone either.
27. popularity is not important. it may seem like the most important thing in the world now, but trust me, it’s not. find some true friends and that’s enough. quality over quantity I always say.
28. start thinking about what you want to do with your life, what you want to pursue. use this year to figure out what you’re interested and who you want to become. but don’t worry! you have time.
29. don’t get into drama or associate yourself with drama makers. stay out of it. this will just make your life more stressful than it already is.
30. challenge yourself. take honors or AP classes if you think you’re capable. don’t take the easy route.
31. DO NOT send nudes. people will screenshot, spread it around and you’ll end up being the one laughed at. trust me, I know.
32. get enough sleep. don’t stay up too late. go to bed early and finish your assignment in the morning before school.
33. manage your time. make sure you split up time for clubs, sports, and school work wisely.
34. and finally, don’t beat yourself over a mistake. you’re young and it’s okay. learn from it. and remember that whatever you’re going through will pass. stay strong and power through.

Ice’s Annual Post for 2018
So here is my annual post of everything that I did over the course of 2018. Now one major change in this post from last year and the year before is that, I only updated this post at the end of the month instead of gradually as these events occurred. Which means that some events that may have happened at the end of the month are among the first on the list, so basically it’s all scrambled.
Now I know with certainty that each of these events happened in the corresponding month, as I otherwise didn’t even post it so I believe for next year (if I’m still on Tumblr) I won’t do that again and go back to updating these in chronological order.
