How to Clean as an Adult
*** For more tips on how to *adult,* subscribe to https://www.projectadulthood.com/, a weekly newsletter on growing up. Think of it as your instruction manual to adulting :)
Growing up, Sundays were the days when my whole family cleaned. Everyone had chores they had to get through. Mine were dusting and cleaning the bathrooms. If I was really unlucky, I also had to water the plants and clean the windows.
Although the whole thing took two hours max, it ruined my day. On the bright side, our house was always spotless. However, when I moved away from home for college, I often avoided going home for weekends. Why? Because I did not want to spend my Sunday morning cleaning.
Having shared my living quarters with quite a few slobs since I can finally appreciate my parents' cleanliness. While I'm nowhere near as tidy as they are (and, let's be honest, never will be), I'd like to think that I do have a solid cleaning routine going -- which you'll find below.
I also want to share a few tips and tricks when it comes to cleaning. Turns out, the average American spends almost one full day cleaning a month. Hopefully, the advice below will help you cut down on the amount of housework you actually have to do.
How to clean
You don't need to clean so long that you turn into a skeleton. Instead, here's a handy checklist.
Tumblr media
Daily
Make the bed
Wash the dishes
Wipe down kitchen counters, table, sink, and stove
Sweep or vacuum the kitchen floor
Every other day
Change towels
Take out the trash.
Weekly
Change bed sheets
Dust (tables, windowsills, etc.)
Vacuum
Mop the floor
Water the plants
Do laundry
Clean mirrors
Wipe down the microwave, coffee maker, etc.
Monthly
Get rid of old food in the fridge.
Vacuum the mattress, by the ceiling (watch out for spiderwebs!), etc.
Clean the shower/tub.
A few times a year
Empty and clean the fridge and freezer
Clean the vacuum cleaner
Scrub tile grout in the bathroom
Clean the oven
Clean all the hard-to-reach places like behind the stove, fridge, etc.
Clean windows
Clean fixtures, like lamps and ceiling fans
Once a year
Get rid of expired meds
Organize the kitchen cabinets
Clean out drawers and closets
Defrost and clean freezer
Clean the baseboards
Wash your duvet, pillows, spreads, etc.
Cleaning hacks

Power clean 15 minutes each day. This will prevent clutter. Ideally, you want to designate a "home" for everything you own so that you can put everything back in its proper place during the day (and, most importantly, at the end of the day). Speaking of putting things back, clean in such a way that doesn't require you to make an even bigger mess, i.e., piles of clothes. Always think: if I stopped in the middle of cleaning, would the room be cleaner or messier?
Clean up as you cook. Wipe the countertop, do the dishes, sweep up... That way, you won't have to deal with a pile of dirty dishes after dinner. Besides, most of the time, all you have to do when making dinner is stir (depending on the dish, of course), so you can save a lot of time this way. By the way, if you wipe down the stove after every time you use it, you'll never really need to clean it.
Layer two trash bags in the bin. When you take out the trash, the next bag will already be there. Your future self will thank you.
Use a sink strainer. Or get one immediately if your sink doesn't have one.A clogged-up sink is no way to start your morning. Also, invest in a suction cup sponge holder -- you don't want your kitchen sponge sitting in gross food water.
Microwave a lemon in water (in a microwave-safe bowl) for up to 5 mins to clean your microwave. Remove the bowl with oven gloves and clean the inside of the microwave. DO NOT microwave water on its own unless you want your microwave to explode.
Keep an open box of soda in the fridge. It'll absorb any nasty smells from old foods. Remember to change it out once in a while, though.
Boil half a lemon with some vinegar and water in your kettle. This will get rid of at least some of the buildup and freshen the kettle.
Simplify your laundry. For example, if you only have 20 pairs of black socks that are all the same, you won’t ever have to match them. Dumping them in your sock drawer is as far as you'll have to go when sorting clothes. When folding laundry, fold the largest items first, leaving socks, underwear, and other small items for the very end. That way, it’ll feel like you’re done with laundry faster.

E&T-Caring For Your Tiny Test Subject
Welp. (⓿ ◡ ⓿) I made more. Maybe real content will resume soon, but until then...tiny Erebus
←Previous - Masterlist
Ingredients: noncon partial stripping/nudity, noncon touching (unsexy)
“You know,” Neteri mused as she turned Erebus over in her hand, “you’re kind of filthy from your little adventure. Maybe I should-”
“No-”
“Yeah.” She tightened her grip as Erebus squirmed, looking down at him with a devilish grin. “Let’s get you cleaned up, lil guy.”
“I-I can do that myself Neteri you don’t need to-”
“I do need to because it will be so absolutely adorable.”
“That’s the dumbes-” Erebus’s protest was silenced as she placed one of her fingers over his mouth. He glared at her, debating biting her for a moment. She’d only have herself to blame if he drew blood...still, the last thing he needed was for his situation to get any worse. As per usual, Neteri was going to get what Neteri wanted and he’d just have to suffer through it. Even so, this...this was not going to be easy. Already, an awful feeling was stirring in his gut at imagining her…bathing him. He shuddered, trying to just put it out of his mind for now.
Once they got back to her office, Neteri plopped him back into the jar and screwed on the lid before taking him back to his cell. She set the jar on the desk and crouched down to his level. “I’m going to go get everything I need, and then I’ll be back, so you just chill until then, okay?” Erebus just quietly nodded from where he was seated with his arms wrapped around his folded legs. He tried to take deep breaths once he was alone, trying not to let himself get freaked out before it even started.
He would be fine. Neteri was always gentle with him as long as he was cooperative, so he wasn’t too worried about this experience hurting. He was far more worried about how much she was going to be touching him, about how exposed he was going to be, about how helpless he was going to feel. Not that he wasn’t already helpless right now, stuck inside a glass jar, but there was a whole new level of powerlessness in being held tightly in her hand. When he’d been his real size, he could always take comfort in his significant height advantage over her, the vague idea that he could easily overpower her if he tried. But now, she could do whatever she wanted with him with just her bare hands, and there was nothing he could do to fight back.
By the time she had returned with a relatively shallow bowl and a large cup, he had steeled himself for what was about to occur. Still, when she reached her hand in the jar, he pressed himself back against the glass, because he didn’t want this. “You’ll be alright little guy, the water’s nice and warm for you.”
“T-that’s not what I-hey! I can take that off mysel-”
“I’m sure you can,” Neteri said as she pulled his shirt off over his head, his struggles doing absolutely nothing to slow her down. “But this is more fun.”
“Not for me.”
“Who owns who here, Erebus? Now stop wiggling or I might take off more than your pants, and neither of us want that.” Erebus grumbled but stopped trying to resist, feeling his face flush at her bare hands against his skin. She poured some of the water from the cup into the dish before gently setting him down in it. He felt himself relax despite everything; the water did feel good and it’d been so long since he’d had a bath. Probably not since...since he’d lost everything. Maybe this would be alright…
Yeah, it felt sort of nice as she poured the warm water over his head with a thimble and started to wash his hair with two of her fingertips. He leaned into her touch just a bit-no no no wait this was Neteri she’d shrunk him and this was humiliating he wasn’t supposed to enjoy it, and even if he did, there was no way he’d let her catch on to it. He put on his best glare and hugged his knees close to his chest. Neteri laughed. “You always look so cute when you’re angry, but now that you're tiny it’s even cuter! You’re just perfect like this, huh?” She tilted his chin up, and he tried to turn away, but she forced him back. “Keep your head tilted back, I’m going to rinse your hair and I don’t want it to get in your eyes.”
“Fine.” She was always so unfairly tender with him, and part of him wished she would be rougher, that she would stop making it so hard to hate this. Even when she pried his arms away from his legs and forced him to uncurl so she could wash the rest of him, she was never anything but gentle. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately? He wasn’t sure), the feeling of her fingers scrubbing his body ended up being more uncomfortable and invasive than nice, and it was easier for him to hate it.
And he...he hated it, really hated it, so much so that he didn’t know how much more he could take, because he just wanted her hands off of him, not all over his bare skin, over all of his scars, at the same time. Erebus tried to squirm away, but there was firmness behind Neteri’s gentle grip, rendering his attempts futile. He was just as helpless as he had feared being, and he could hardly bear it. She was almost done, she had to be, she’d gotten just about everywhere and he wasn’t sure if his face could get any redder, if the awful feeling in his stomach could get any worse.
He fought back an audible sigh of relief as she started rinsing him off, glad that this experience was almost over. Once she was done, Neteri slid her thumb under his chin, tilting it up. “There, you’re all clean now.” She stared at him a moment more, stifling a laugh. “You’re all embarrassed it’s so adorable. I do wish I could keep you like this.”
“You’d better not-”
“No, no, I can’t, that would use up far too much of my magic power, shrinking you every day. And doing procedures on your tiny little body would be way more difficult and not worth it at all. But, a girl can dream,” she sighed. He rolled his eyes, relishing the fact that she’d have no idea that he did it. She released him, looking around on the desk. “I forgot to get a towel for ya; let me go grab one from your bathroom.”
Erebus eyed the edge of the bowl as soon as she turned around. The sides weren’t that steep, and he could probably climb them, which would earn him a little moment of freedom, not stuck inside anything or held back by her giant hands. He stood and sloshed towards the edge, deciding it would be best to just try to crawl up the sloped sides. He stepped out of the soapy water, feeling confident enough in his first step that he immediately tried to take another, trusting all of his weight to his foot on the sloped side of the bowl.
A mistake he soon paid for.
Still coated in soapy residue, his foot slipped on the smooth surface of the bowl, and his forehead immediately slammed into the ceramic. He managed to catch himself before his face slid into the water, and he just stayed on his hands and knees for a moment, staring at his reflection in the water as his head throbbed. Of course he couldn’t even escape from a bowl. Of course. Tears of frustration welled up in his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away as Neteri returned.
“What was that sound, Erebus? You okay?” she asked as she picked him up, examining him.
“It was nothing. I’m fine.” He crossed his arms, hoping she’d just drop it.
But this was Neteri, who rarely dropped it, and seemed to have a sixth sense for this sort of thing. “I dunno bud, you have a lil red spot on your forehead. Did you-” a mischievous grin spread across her face, “did you try to climb out and hit your head?”
“I-so what if I did? It doesn’t matter.” He looked away as she laughed, his face once again burning an unfair amount.
“It does matter ‘cause that is the cutest thing, oh you poor little dear.” She ruffled his hair with one of her fingertips before picking up the cup of clean water. “Alright, close your eyes while I rinse you off one last time.” When she was done, she set him down on the towel she had brought over and got to work drying him off. He let her, just wanting this whole thing to be over with. The towel felt so much rougher now that he was small...that was another thing he missed about home, how soft the towels always were. His sheets and pillows had always been so comfortable, too...he missed his father and everyone, of course, but sometimes he couldn’t help but think about all of the little things.
Once he was dry, Neteri dropped him back in the jar before throwing a set of small, clean clothes on top of him. “Here, I shrunk those for you, and I think I was able to do it so they’ll get big when you do like your other clothes shrunk with you the first time. Just let me know when you’re done.” She held out her hands to cover the side of the jar facing her, eyes squeezed shut for good measure.
“You’re good, Neteri,” Erebus called once he’d gotten changed. “Are you going to leave me alone now?”
“Absolutely I will not.” She picked up the jar, holding him at her eye level. “You are at your most cutest ever in the world and I want to be here for every second of it.” Her stomach growled. “Also I have just realized that I forgot about food and neither of us have eaten since this morning and it is definitely past lunchtime so I am going to go get us some food.” She grinned as she set the jar down. “I can give you tiny food oh I’m so excited!” She dashed out the door, calling “I’ll be right back!”
Erebus couldn’t say he wasn’t happy to get something to eat, but he could do without the way Neteri watched him the entire time, occasionally gasping at stupid things like him ripping off part of the chunk of bread she’d given him. She’d shrunk most of his food, so he ate it like normal, but for some reason she tore off a piece of her normal sized flatbread and gave it to him, and there was no way he was just going to bite into something so big. He’d lost a lot of his dignity over these past few months, but he still wasn’t a savage. Besides, she was making him drink out of a thimble, which was demeaning enough.
She put him back in the jar while she took care of their plates and cleaned up from bathing him. He laid on his back and stared at the ceiling, wondering what stupid thing she had planned next. It would be foolish to assume she wasn’t going to spend the rest of the day bothering him and teasing him and holding him in her hands, since she’d made it very clear how much she was enjoying this. Nothing would be worse than the bath, though. He hoped.
Once she returned, Neteri picked him up from inside the jar and just stared at him intently. Erebus narrowed his eyes. “What are you thinking?”
“I’m just trying to decide what to do with you next.”
“You could put me down.”
“Or I could hold you in my hand forever.”
“No.”
“I think I will do that.” She sat down on his bed and laid back, pressing Erebus against her chest, her hand on his back pinning him down on his stomach. His wiggling was, as always, completely useless. He sighed, trying to make himself comfortable and pretending he was just lying on a bed or something. Neteri rubbed her thumb soothingly up and down his back, and soon enough he...found himself...getting tired...
~~~
Neteri resisted the urge to jump up in delight as she watched little Erebus fall asleep on her chest. She’d just wanted to lay down and hold his tiny body for a few minutes, but she’d expected him to struggle longer or glare at her the whole time, not take a nap. Not that it was unwelcome, not at all, he was so precious like this, and there was no way she’d move until he woke up. She continued stroking his back, smiling down at her little test subject.
She was going to enjoy every moment she had left while he was small.
What To Do Before My Cleaner Arrives
Tumblr media
house cleaning app services If this is often your first time hiring through a house cleaning app, you'll have heard different advice concerning what you ought to do to urge ready. One piece of recommendation you ought to heed is to try to to a touch of cleaning before your cleaner arrives. This sounds counterintuitive, but there’s a fine line between what house cleaning app services cover and what a home-owner can do to assist .see about  plumber Columbia SC here.
Therefore, it’s an honest idea to be clear about what you expect the cleaner to try to to while on the work . But to try to to that job, your home must be prepared in order that they can make the foremost of their appointment time.
The following are regular jobs you'll expect your house cleaners to handle:
vacuum carpets sweep floors mop tile and hardwood floors dust knick-knacks, furniture, and movie frames scrub bathrooms clean countertops clean the outside surfaces of all appliances Basic cleanings usually don't include:
cleaning the within of the refrigerator washing dishes wiping windowsills, blinds or mouldings cleaning up after pets (litter boxes, urine control, etc.) doing laundry changing bed sheets
However, these can typically be added on as an additional service. generally , before your cleaner arrives you’ll got to do some organizing in order that they can clean the surfaces in your home with ease. If you’re thinking a cleaner will judge you for not cleaning up, don’t worry. likelihood is that they’ve probably seen worse.
Below we undergo what you ought to do before your cleaner arrives, and the way the Skep Home house cleaning app can make the method smoother.
DO: devour home items which will BE LYING AROUND
Your cleaner is liable for deep-cleaning the surfaces of your home, and not cleaning each item you own.
Tidying up your home and clearing it of clutter can help ensure they spend their time cleaning, and not organizing. By learning after yourself, you'll maximize their time and obtain the foremost of the service.
If there are smaller chores you don’t mind doing, like making the bed, you'll complete those before they are available in order that they can get straight to deep cleaning. once you skip stray clothes, pieces of paper and other home items , the cleaner are going to be forced to wash around those items, or devour each item, clean thereunder , and place it back in its spot. This doesn’t sound like much, but multiplied by your whole house, it can eat away at the hour or two that they need in your home.
youtube
By learning your home items before the cleaner arrives, they will specialise in the larger tasks you would like them to try to to like cleaning the floors, vacuuming, or dusting furniture.
DO: DESIGNATE A SPOT FOR MISPLACED ITEMS
Part of learning items around your house also means they’re less likely to be misplaced during a cleaning. Especially with a primary time cleaning, it are often hard to work out which papers are important and which may be thrown away. And you wouldn’t want your cleaner to require a glance at your papers and determine that for you.
It’s best to sort your papers yourself so you recognize nothing useful features a chance of being misplaced during a cleaning. Secure valuables like jewelry, small electronics and loose cash, so those will remain unmoved also .
You can designate a spot and keep all the possessions you don’t want to be cleaned there, or if the cleaner goes through the house and doesn’t know where something belongs they will place it there. Tell the cleaner they will ignore this pile so you recognize your valuables or hard to wash possessions won’t be moved around.
DO: PUT AWAY YOUR PETS
This depends both on your pet and therefore the cleaner themselves, but it’s essential you let your cleaner know that you simply have a pet, and take appropriate actions beforehand.
If your pet is aggressive toward strangers, before the cleaning you'll got to arrange for them to remain at a lover or family member’s house, alternatively book a grooming session for them. an alternative choice is to place them in their crate or during a room in order that the cleaner can move freely throughout your home.
With the Skep Home app, you'll communicate directly together with your cleaners and determine if they're comfortable with animals. this manner you’ll be ready to accurately gauge their comfort levels and eliminate stress about how they're going to react to your pet.
DO: IDENTIFY PROBLEM AREAS that require SPECIAL ATTENTION
You know your home best, so you’ll got to confirm your cleaner is on an equivalent page in terms of problem areas. Because you'll message your cleaner individually on the Skep Home app, you’ll be ready to confirm they get your instructions specific to your home. you'll also tell them about any areas you’d like them to spend overtime cleaning.
It’s also an honest idea to quickly check your home to form sure everything is in working order and there are not any broken items. That way you’ll know needless to say if a cleaner is liable for a damaged item or if there have been previous issues.
DO: TIDY YOUR BATHROOM AND KITCHEN
The bathroom counter, especially , is usually crowded with products, making it difficult to wash .
It’s best to clear the counters and place all of your products during a basket, which may easily be stashed under the sink or in another room if needed. this provides the cleaner quick access to your counters and sinks in order that they will deep clean them.
The same goes for the kitchen also . Doing dishes likely isn’t your favourite chore, but it’s one that has got to be done therefore the cleaner can properly cleanse your sinks. Load the dishwasher and clear your sink and counters of any leftover food to form their life easier.
You want your cleaner to try to to the “real” cleaning including floors, tubs, walls, tables, counters, and carpets. Clear these areas beforehand in order that they can properly attend to them. Plus, being accountable to your cleaner has the additional advantage of keeping you organized also .
DO: PRIORITIZE WHAT YOU’D LIKE YOUR CLEANER to try to to
Write out an inventory of what you’d like wiped out order of how important they're to you. attempt to help with anything on rock bottom of the list so your cleaner spends their time performing on your more demanding tasks.
With messaging on the Skep Home app, you'll write out all of your instructions so you don’t forget and send it on to the cleaner. That way, albeit directing people face to face isn’t your strong suit, they’ll still be left with an inventory of tasks you’d like done so they’re making the foremost of your appointment.
DO: GET all of your CLEANING PRODUCTS so as
Skep Home uses your cleaning products so there’s no risk of contamination. Also, you recognize which products you wish best! If you've got preferences or any allergies, please confirm to possess the acceptable cleaning supplies available so your cleaner can start directly .
Along with providing them with the proper tools, give them a stool in order that they can clean hard to succeed in places. Preparation is vital so your cleaner isn't left dalliance trying to find tools to assist them clean.
DO: confirm they will GET INTO YOUR HOME
You’ve done all this prep before the cleaning, but don’t forget to allow them to in! It’s up to you if you favor to remain during the cleaning, but if you would like to go out that’s totally fine. Just confirm you give the right instructions and keys to the cleaner. If you've got a home security system, for instance , they’ll got to skills to show it off.
Skep Home’s house cleaning app features a GPS tracker so you'll see your cleaner’s location on the map. If you won’t be home to greet them, you continue to have how of seeing exactly once they reach your home.
SHOULD I TIP?
The general practice is that cleaning companies don't require a tip, but individual cleaners do. Skep Home sends individual cleaners to homeowners in their area, so there's an overlap here, but fortunately, everything will already be taken care of before the cleaning. No cash is required for your cleaning. Simply pay directly on the app and it'll be sent to the cleaner.
GET MORE VALUE FROM YOUR HOUSE CLEANING APP
While tidying up before your cleaner arrives might not be what you signed up for when hiring a cleaning service, there are multiple reasons to try to to so. Having to clear the clutter from your home takes up valuable time that would be spent deep-cleaning larger items and surfaces in your home. By decluttering high traffic areas like the kitchen and toilet , also as learning round the house and designating a spot for misplaced items, you’re ensuring you receive the foremost value out of a cleaning service.
Download the house cleaning app Skep Home to possess an immediate line of communication together with your cleaner, so you'll list out your cleaning priorities, any special requests, and also rate your cleaner. With some organization on your part, your cleaner can perform their tasks directly , making your home shine.
Teenage s/o helping teenage Noctis clean up after himself in the apartment? Like trash, doing dishes, etc. In brotherhood episode (Also I read that he suffers from depression which is why the he's living in unhealthy environment. i dunno what u wanna do with that info, u can either have s/o finding out & talk to him about it or never knows he's ill from it. etc. which ever makes u feel more comfortable writing. Or s/o just scolding him like Ignis would and help him clean up.)
As someone who suffers from depression, I’m actually pretty happy to write about this! Hope that it makes a day a little less, hard. (ɔ ˘⌣˘)˘⌣˘ c)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“It’s fine, Ignis, I’ll let you know if I need your help. I will, I will bye, Ignis.” You called into your phone, attempting to balance the grocery bag full of food, and correctly put your keys in the keyhole, managing to not trip and actually get in the apartment before you, you called out to your boyfriend.
“Noctis? Noctis are you in here sweetie?” You called, flipping on the lights, staring at the mess that was the floor, and living area. Putting the groceries in the kitchen, at least he didn’t almost burn it down like last time. It was a little chillier the last few days, so you could understand why the mess was worse, yet it seemed that Ignis was able to keep up with most of it.
“Noctis?” You called entering his bedroom, finding the lump underneath the covers, as you walked over sitting on the edge of the bed, leaning forward to the head of the bed. “Noct, sweetie.” You whispered, as the covers pulled down slightly, showing those blue eyes and greasy black hair. “Hi, sleepy head.”
Noctis groaned as he went to cover his head again, you giggled, as you petted his head under the blankets.
“Yeah, it’s been pretty hard the last few days.” You replied, as you stood up, noticing a few wrappers stuck to your butt and thighs. “You want me to get you a bath started?” A nod from the mountain of blankets. “Okay, I bought a new bath bomb, it’s called Forever Knight sky, and is shaped like a Knight, I’ll leave it on the side of the tub for when you’re ready.”
The poor Prince suffered from depression, and the first time you had brought it up it was rather difficult to get the Prince to admit it.  Yet all the symptons were there, his sleep schedule, the moods he could get into and the state his apartment was in, it was a much harder version of your own, so with the seasons changing you knew that Noctis didn’t need Ignis scolding him constantly.
You knew Ignis meant well, but scolding Noct like a child wasn’t going to assist the situation at all. So you often, on your own time, came over on weekends and afternoon to help with the clutter, and try to keep the space decent. Gladio often called you, Noctis’ little housewife.
You had just finished with taking the trash from the living room, as you heard the bathroom door open in his room, he always left the door cracked when he wanted to speak with you, or just hear you speak, as you move to the bedroom, stripping the bedding to be washed.
“Noct, sweetie, I bought some food over, so we can eat after you’re done with your bath.” You called, hearing him splash, “How do you like that bathbomb? I bought a bunch more.”
“It’s stupidly shaped.” He called back, his voice hoarse from not using it.
You giggled softly, “Yeah, I said the same thing in the store. They had another one shaped like a Space ship,  I’ll leave it for you next time.”  You replied, managing to get the fitted sheet on the right way, you were certain that no one could get it done right on the first try. “I’m going to start dinner, text or call for me if you need me.”
“…mmkay.”
You hummed to yourself, as you begun dinner, tapping your phone every so often, as Noctis would send you a picture of some random cat or Chocobo comparing it to Prompto’s ever changing hairstyle. You couldn’t stop the giggle, realizing that Noctis did have a rather nice support system in his friends.
Leaving the food to simmer, you picked the veggies from Noctis’ half, he was already having a rough day, no use making it more gross. You moved back to the bathroom, knocking on the door frame, as you peeked in.
“Foods almost done, if you wanna get out the tub.” You stated, moving over to the side of the tub, the bathbomb had covered anything, as you sat on the ledge, smoothing his wet hair from his face pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“Or you could join me.” He shrugged.
“Don’t be so cute.” You giggled, sticking your tounge out, only to gasp your hand slipped on the edge, sending you crashing into the lukewarm water, “Oh my gods,” only to turn as you heard Noctis laughing, it was a while since you last heard that. “Laugh all you want handsome, I’m taking a pair of pajamas.”
Changing from your soaking wet tshirt and jeans, to a pair of Noctis’ pajamas, setting the plates on the table, just as you heard the hair dryer click off, and the Prince shuffle into the living room.
“What’s that?” He asked, pointing toward the meal of a meat and rice.
“Hell if I know.” You muttered with a shrug of your shoulders.
“Did you make it?” Noctis asked sitting down beside you.
“I guess…,” You stated, as he smiled, both of you, watching t.v as you completed your meals.  Glancing over you had noticed the ebony haired man had dozed off, curled up on the side of the couch, resting a hand on your lap.
Pulling the blanket from the back of the couch, you wrapped the young man up tightly, before going to clean up the kitchen. You didn’t want to leave all the work on poor Ignis, most of the dishes could be washed by the dishwasher, but this stupid pot, refused to let you win! Dumb sauce got all stuck and gross on the bottom!
As you scrubbed at the pan angrily, determined to win, you nearly jumped from your skin as you felt something against your shoulder. Looking over your shoulder to the top of Noctis’ head, seeing him draped in the blanket, resting his forehead against your shoulder.
“Come back to the couch.”
You giggle, as you press a kiss to his head, “I’ll be right there, let me finish up here.” You heard a slight groan, before a soft tug on the bottom of the pajama shirt you were wearing. “All right, all right, I’ll deal with this tomorrow.”
Wiping your hands on a dish towel, you turned to Noctis, currently covered in that large blue blanket you had laid on him before coming into wash dishes. Taking the hand still tugging on your shirt, you lead him back to the couch, almost immediately upon sitting down the young man’s head was in your lap.
“I think I get it now, Noct, why you like cats so much.”
“Why?” He asked your fingers threading through his hair.
“You and cats have a lot in common.”
“Maybe.” He sighed. “Are you staying the night?”
“All weekend.”
“…good.”

Home Depot Cleaning Tips
Spring Cleaning Tip No. 1
Sure, sweet onesies and ruffly dresses are fun to buy, but why not give parents what they really need to have a baby? A new baby cleaning kit will be the most appreciated and used gifts that the new parents receive. (And if you are an expecting parent, go ahead and make yourself one – you won’t regret it!) Our second baby was born a few months ago and this is the gift that I wish I had received, so now I make them for all my new parent friends.
Make sure you include only non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaners, because there is no time more important than when your baby is a newborn to keep your house free of toxic fumes. Method has a great line-up of non-toxic cleaners, and I’m sure you can find an alternative for any product you use.
I included in a Galvanized Pail:
Method Dish Soap for all the baby bottles and pacifiers that accumulate every day
Method Pink Grapefruit All Purpose Cleaner to keep every surface i the house sparkling (and I love that you only need one spray to handle almost any job – because the baby clutter will take up enough space on its own!)
Method Free and Clear Laundry Detergent because the amount of laundry that one little seven pound human can make is unbelievable
Method Juicy Pear Hand Wash & Method Lemon Mint Foaming Hand Wash to keep the germs away – stock up since there will be a lot of hand washing going on in the first few months
Method Daily Shower Spray to keep things clean after each shower since there will be a lot less time to spend cleaning the bathrooms once the baby arrives
Some easy erasers, a microfiber duster, some brushes & cleaning rags to get any cleaning job done
A few all natural cotton muslin swaddling blankets a few small toys and rattles just for fun
Spring Cleaning Tip No. 2
Did you know that the air inside your house is 2 – 5 times more polluted than the air outside? This is especially scary for infants, whose lungs are still very immature.
The best way to clean the air inside your house is to open the windows every chance you get. Cross breezes do wonders for improving indoor air quality. The other way to improve the air quality for your baby is to put plants in the nursery. Certain plants can clean up to 90% of the toxins out of the air in less than 24 hours.
Plants (in a colorful ceramic pot to match the nursery) make a great gift for a new parent. Some good choices are Aloe Vera, Sansevieria and Spider Plants, which are all very easy to care for. Because let’s face it, new parents have their plates full already trying to keep their newborn healthy and happy, the last thing they need to worry about is a plant.
I like Aloe Vera because in addition to cleaning the air my baby breathes, I can use the gel from inside the plant when she scratches her face with her razor sharp little nails.

The plants may be removing the toxins from the air, but they sure aren’t getting rid of the dirty diaper smell! For that all you need baking soda. Fill a 1 Qt. Metal Paint Bucket about half way with baking soda and wrap it with twine to make it look like part of the decor. Try to place it close to the changing table or diaper pail to keep the air smelling as sweet as your baby.

How is it that such tiny, cute little things can make such big messes? It seems like we go through a dozen outfits every day. And at least half of those are stained in some way or another. The good thing is that I have figured out a fool proof way to get out any stain that a newborn can possibly make. This method works on everything from sweet white onesies to cloth diapers to crib sheets.
Start by washing the soiled items with Method Free and Clear Laundry Detergent. I love Method Free and Clear because I don’t want any fragrances or nasty chemicals that may harm my sweet baby’s sensitive skin. I like to do an extra rinse, just to make sure there is no residue left that may irritate her skin. After washing, simply hang the items on a clothesline in the sun. And like magic, within a few hours, the stains will have disappeared! (If it is windy, don’t forget the clothespins or you may be washing again)

Baby clothes and diapers aren’t the only things to take the hit when baby makes a mess! It is almost inevitable, the time I set the baby down without something under her is always the time that she spits up or has a diaper malfunction. And unfortunately, I can’t use my laundry trick on the couch, mattress, or rug. To clean these messes, first blot the soiled area with towels to remove the moisture. Then mix baking soda and a few drops of essential oils in a mason jar and sprinkle liberally on the soiled area. Let it sit for a few hours, or overnight if needed, then vacuum it up.

Babies explore their world with their mouths, so it is imperative to keep baby’s toys sanitized. But what new parent has time to hand wash and sterilize each and every toy after use? To keep things simple, set up a system to simplify the washing process. Simply line a Galvanized Pail with a Laundry Wash Bag. Once a toy or pacifier needs to be washed, drop it into the pail. The next time you are going to run the dishwasher, zip up the wash bag and put it right one the rack. Use a Cascade Platinum Dishwasher Pac and it will sanitize the toys and leave your dishwasher sparkling clean.

High chairs take quite a beating, and with all of those crevices they are so hard to clean. But with a little bit of elbow grease, it can be done. Start by taking off any pads, straps, and any other removable parts. Then combine HDX All-Purpose Cleaning Vinegar with a little bit of Method dish soap in a spray bottle. Spray all over the high chair and let it sit for 15 – 20 minutes to loosen any stuck on food or debris. Using a Plastic Putty Knife, scrape away any gunk and wipe clean with a wet cloth.

Kids are notorious for leaving half-eaten bananas on the counter. And with a newborn in the house, it may be a while before those bananas get picked up and put away. Cue the fruit flies. And once those pesky little creatures settle in, they multiply like crazy.
Luckily, it is cheap and easy to make a trap that they can’t resist. Mix Method dish soap and Apple Cider Vinegar in a mason jar and set near the fruit bowl or anywhere else the fruit flies tend to congregate. They will be attracted to the smell of the vinegar, and will try to land on the surface. When they do, the soap traps them in and they drown. It is strangely satisfying to see how many you can catch in such a short period of time.

Big siblings are sure to have a bit of free time on their hands while mom and dad are caring for the new baby, so giving them the tools to help clean up will not only give them something to do, but it will make them feel helpful (and hopefully give mom and dad a little rest!)
Clean out a cupboard or find a shelf that the older sibling can easily reach. Hang a dustpan and brush, a microfiber duster, and a tile and grout brush from some Command small hooks. Then stock their shelf with a kid-sized scrub brush, some easy erasers, and a non toxic cleaner. Add some cleaning rags (or old baby washcloths) and make sure to have a  bucket or pail where they can put the dirty rags when they are done.
Spring Cleaning Tip No. 10
Help the older sibling keep track of ways that they can help out around the house with a simple chalkboard chore chart. A 3′ x 4′ chalkboard panel is the perfect place to make lists, and to doodle when the chores are done. Hang a Chalk Marker or piece of chalk from the chalkboard with twine and keep a HDX Easy Eraser close by to clean it off when the list is complete.
