Summary: bonten can't contain their curiosity and invites reader to dinner, Mikey finds he likes his new Omega pack mate
đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸
Who knew Ran would take such a liking to his brother in law, doting on him and claiming him as the new baby sibling "sorry Rinny~ you got replaced!" Why? Why was (name) so beloved by the eldest?
Well the adorable Omega not only let him sleep in peace but also made him nice and cozy with blankets and even got him ear plugs "he's clearly exhausted, so I set him up a nice comfy napping spot in the guest room" (name) explained while working on his project, focused on getting a good grade "how was work?" (Name) Asked while letting RindĹ pull him into a kiss, whining slightly before being freed "we got a good payout and we're going to dinner tomorrow night"
"Oh that sounds fun!"
"And I have the perfect outfit for you"
(Name) Looked confused while RindĹ watched him connect the dots "I get to meet your friends?"
Friends was a strong word but RindĹ wasn't going to correct his mate who seemed absolutely giddy at the concept "there's rules though" RindĹ said seriously and kissed the Omega gently " you never leave Ran and my sides, you only talk this the people I introduce you to and whatever you do, don't piss off Mikey" (name) nodded quietly, taking in the rules his mate set for him "now show me what you're doin'" RindĹ pulled (name) close, looking to see the work he did "my omegas smart..."
"It's been my dream to pursue this since I was a kid..." (Name) Mumbled, getting comfortable while he continued work "gonna need space for that stuff..." RindĹ teased (name) who hummed before a heat settled in his lower abdomen and his hips twitched "already?" RindĹ had a shit eating grin before pulling (name) into a kiss and pushing him down onto the couch and began kissing (name)s neck.
Four sessions the night before and 3 more before the dinner (name) was dressed in an expensive suit though RindĹ would have loved to see him in a dress, mumbling something about easy acesss but (name) paid him no mind, just happy to meet his mates friends and have delicious food. (Name) Held onto RindĹ while they walked into the expensive restaurant, full of glitz and lights and (name) felt incredibly out of place, before this he was just a broke university student half blooded Omega and now he was linking arms with one of the most notorious people apparently!
Keep calm, keep cool...
You're meeting your mates friends! You got this!
"There's my little in law!" Ran said happily and immediately squished (name)s face "ran we saw each other yesterday" (name)s voice was muffled slightly but the eldest Haitani just sighed dramatically "and what a long twenty four hours it's been!"
"Is this the unicorn?" A voice called out and (name) looked to see a white haired man with the bonten insignia tattooed to the side of his head "ah, Koko! Come meet my little in law!"
(Name) Looked to RindĹ for assurance and the Alpha rubbed his hip, Koko holding a glass of wine "ah... You really picked a looker RindĹ" Koko looked (name) up and down "hello! It's a pleasure to meet you!" (Name) Said happily, a large smile on his face and sunshine practically radiating off him causing Koko to pause for a moment, so accustomed to the succubi in their world. If it wasn't for RindĹs own scent on the little omega, Koko would have assumed human or even an angel "the pleasure is mine, little one" Koko kissed his hand and (name) just stared at the action unsure what to do but RindĹs eyes sharpened at the other alphas teasing and pulled (name) closer.
Walking into the private room, (name) was startled when everyone had horns and tails out, they were all demons? "You can transform as well, the restaurant is owned by us" RindĹ whispered encouragingly to his mate, (name) biting his lip before tentatively revealing his tail and horns, a bit smaller than the average demon but it's to be expected from a half blood.
(Name) Felt a bit overwhelmed in a room full of alphas but the large blond one with a goatee offered him slight reassurance with a soft smile "Mikey and sanzu will be here soon" kakucho said calmly, sipping his drink.
RindĹ watched as (name) made small talk, polite and sweet as he always was while giving kakucho and takeomi his undivided attention through a conversation and the demons weren't used to having conversations with a succubus that didn't involve one riding them... Though (name) had been riding RindĹ only hours prior. "So what side of your family is human?" Koko loved finding information on people, especially sweeties like (name) who were all too willing to spill everything "my sires side!" He said easily "and your dam was a succubus?"
(Name) Nodded, sipping his drink when the doors opened and (name) locked eyes with pure obsidian eyes, before him was another Omega who seemed exhausted "there you are, boss" Ran teased but Mikey just stared at the other Omega in his space curiously, (name) equally locked on before giving a soft chirp to Mikey's satisfaction.
The alphas had no clue what was transpiring between the two, they didn't really understand omegas that well but RindĹ decided not to ask at this point.
"So, what do you do (name)?" Takeomi asked while taking a puff of his cigarette and all eyes were on (name) who grinned "I'm in my third year of university!" He was radiating kindness and an innocence that shouldn't be possible in a demon let alone a succubus "I'm currently learning (study)! I feel like it would help a lot of people and maybe some animals"
How.
How did RindĹ find this adorable creature!
Sanzu didn't care for people who were too nice, they were always hiding something and (name) was no exception to his suspicions but he held back, wanting to figure out the omegas angle. "How'd you two meet?" And now it was RindĹs turn to be suspicious of Sanzu, eyes sharpening at his question "ah... That's a bit... Uh" (name) grew flustered "he wouldn't properly feed from humans and went to steal energy though a kiss and here we are" RindĹ explained quick and simple, hand on (name)s thigh while the food came in, (name)s eyes lighting up at the delicious foods and Mikey tilted his head at the other.
Mikey never showed his omega side, in his life that was dangerous but couldn't help but be curious to the newest Omega in his little pack, the little one immediately deferring to him in a subconscious level.
And anyone in the pack belonged to Mikey, it was just a fact.
"Come here" Mikey said simply and (name) tilted his head with a mouth full of food and stood, completely oblivious to Sanzus grin as thoughts flooded the pink haired man's head of what will happen to the Omega.
Standing before Mikey, the white haired man simply pinched the omegas cheeks with one hand and turned his head 'brothel? Sex trade?' sanzu was giddy "he gets to live with you but he's mine" Mikey said simply, (name) reminded him of someone special...
RindĹ slow blinked but they knew what those words meant, it meant (name) was in Mikey's pack, the boss was still very hesitant with the Omega and would shoot him if he tried anything but (name) was very clearly harmless.
(Name) Made a confused sound but decided that this was just how Mikey made friends, heck yeah friendship.
The dinner continued on and (name) found the company of kakucho and Koko quite pleasant while he ate delicious food.
(Name) Was slumped over into RindĹs lap on the drive home, fast asleep white his tail swished subconsciously while the Alpha played with his (hair/nape) before looking at the omegas neck and frowned.
He needed a collar.
RindĹ would have to work on that.

the way i loved you
chris sturniolo x reader
warnings: cursing
a/n: hope you likeee <333
i watched as nick pulled an array of snacks from a plastic bag, setting them on the table.
today nick, matt, chris, and i were going to be filming a video where we rate snacks from around the world.
once nick set the camera up, he did the intro and explained what we would be doing.
while nick explained where he got the food, i watched Chris pick up a small pink tin, inspecting it.
i slowly began to tune out nickâs voice, focusing on the way chrisâs fingers ran across the tin.
he carefully placed the tin down, drumming his fingers along the table.
god, his fingers are so long. theyâre perfect-
no! stop! you shouldnât be thinking about your best friendâs fingers like that !
i quickly look away from his fingers, realizing i was staring.
luckily, he didnât seem to notice.
as nick continued to explain the concept of the video, i watched as chris began to smile.
i love how excited he is, heâs adorable.
as i smiled at his eagerness, he happened to look at me, catching my gaze as we smiled at each other.
once nick finished explaining, we decided to try the sour candy in the pink tin first.
i watched as chris attempted to take the plastic wrapping around the tin off, but was unsuccessful.
he fumbled with the plastic, and it seemed like he couldnât keep his hands still. he almost seemed, nervous ?
he turned to me with a bashful smile on his face, âcan you open it, please?â
âyeah, i got youâ i said as i grabbed it from his hands, removing the plastic wrapping and handing it back to him.
âthis one has vitamin c, which oneâs that?â he looked at me, expectantly.
âwhy would i know ?â i asked, furrowing my brows.
âi donât know, youâre the smart oneâ he mumbled.
âshut upâ i laughed as i shook my head , âyouâre smart tooâ .
we all tried one, and agreed that they werenât actually sour, despite the tin having the word sour across it in big letters.
âdoesnât it feel like you have to put a lot of effort into getting that grape flavor ?â nick pointed out.
he scrunched his face up, making us all laugh, as chris put his hand on my shoulder, leaning onto me as he laughed.
i love hearing him laugh.
we gave it a rating, and moved onto the next candy.
once we realized they were slide whistles, we all started busting out laughing.
we all started fooling around, laughing at each otherâs shenanigans.
chris wrapped his arms around my waist, laughing into my shoulder. the sound of his laugh, made me laugh even harder.
as we continued to try and rank the snacks, chris grew more and more touchy.
not that iâm complaining.
there were many times where i would catch him staring at me and vice versa. he made it so easy to enjoy his presence.
once we finished our last snack and agreed on the final ranking of everything, nick closed out the video and turned off the camera.
i turned to chris. âthat was funâ i said trying to fight the shit-eating grin that was forming on my face.
âi agreeâ he said, returning the smile.
âjesus christâ matt spoke up from behind us, rolling his eyes and walking away.
âwhat ?â we called out.
A FEW DAYS LATER
nick, chris, and i were hanging out in the living room.
i was scrolling on tik tok, occasionally showing them videos that i found funny.
as i continued to scroll, i came across one video in particular that made my heart begin to race.
the lyrics of The Way I Loved You by Taylor Swift filled the room.
what the actual fuck.
and he says, you look beautiful tonight. and i feel perfectly fine. but i missâŚ
clips of chris and i staring at each other fill the screen.
screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain and itâs 2 am and iâm cursing your name
chris holding onto my waist, hugging me, leaning on me
so in love that you act insane, and thatâs the way i loved you
us laughing together, looks of pure joy on our faces.
i glance to my right, seeing chris already staring down at my phone.
fuck. what do i do ? what do i say ?
suddenly, nick yells âoh my god is that the ship edit of you and chris ? that shitâs blowing up !â he said.
âdamn, nick. howâd you know ?â
âi reposted itâ
âWHAT?â chris and i stared at him like he had five heads.
âwell, it was good. and câmon, doesnât take a genius to realize yâall like each otherâ he said, nonchalantly.
âiâm going to the bathroomâ he said, walking off.
iâm literally losing my mind. a ship edit ? a TAYLOR ship edit ? weâre never beating the dating allegations.
âwell, what do the comments say?â chris asked, his voice shaking the slightest bit.
i glanced over at him, before opening the comments.

âdamn. they kinda love us togetherâ i said. i scrolled, expecting to move onto something else.
suddenly, Tattoo by Loreen came on. this edit had clips of chris and i from the recent video and over the years.
itâs like weâre watching a progression of our relationship over the past few years.
every wandering eye, stolen glance, smile that was a little too wide, touch, hug that lasted a little too long, the fans always noticed them.
it was literally right in front of our faces the entire time.
listening to the sound of violins swelling while watching chris and iâs interactions almost made me want to cry.
i turned to chris, who was already staring at me.
he looked down at my lips. âwhat do the comments say?â he asked.
i turned back to my phone, opening them up.

âi think i agree with themâ he whispered.
âthen maybe you should ask me outâ i said, my gaze shifting from his eyes to his lips.
our noses touched. âwill you go out with me ?â
i smiled, âhell yeahâ i whispered before pushing my lips onto his.

As Long As You Care
Part 1 of the "Somebody Else" series
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4a3ddee6ab7d8c8e3ba67aa3cec9340a/a12c38bca7563762-40/s540x810/27476a3c7429c29407fe56fbf1689c10946d9428.jpg)
Pairing: Soobin x Reader, Yeonjun x Reader
Summary: From the moment he first met you, Soobin has had the biggest crush on you. The only thing standing in his way is his college roommate, Yeonjun, who youâve been in love with ever since you were little.
Tropes: love triangle, unrequited love, fake dating, frat boy!yeonjun, nerd!soobin, roommates, college AU, childhood best friends
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: drinking, sexual tension (mdni!), curse words, yj is an asshole
A/N: TBH I feel like this is one of my weakest works so far, but I really like the concept and already have the whole thing planned out, so I will try and see completing it through <3
âIf you could see that I'm the one who understands you Been here all along, So why can't you see? You belong with me" âYou Belong With Me, Taylor Swift
âIf you have a crush on Y/N, then go for it,â Yeonjun laughs, surprised that Soobin would even bother to get his permission, as if he wants your hand in marriage or something.
âReally? You donât mind?â Soobin blinks back, unsure of whether or not his roommate is being serious. Youâve been friends with Yeonjun since you were little kids, so Soobin figured that running the idea of asking you out by him was surely the right thing to do.
âIf youâre worried about whether me and her are more than friends, donât be. If we were going to start dating, we wouldâve when we were in high school. God knows it wouldâve made our moms happy.â
âWould you help me then? You know her better than I do,â Soobin continues, eager for tips on how to properly woo you. âDo you know her favorite kind of flowers?â
âCanât say I do,â Yeonjun shrugs. âListen, Soob, Y/N is a hopeless romantic. And sheâs never even had a boyfriend before. Iâm sure whatever you come up with will exceed any and all of her expectations.â
Yeonjunâs excuses for why the moment doesnât need to be special are precisely why Soobin wants to take so much care in planning things. It would be your first date, first boyfriend, first everything.
Well, except for your first kiss, which Yeonjun had graciously stolen back in middle school, years before he had even introduced you to Soobin. Both of you have asserted that it was only once, and simply for you to get it over with before a school dance in the hopes that your real crush would make a move.
Soobin would be lying to say he doesnât get jealous of the two of you. Plus, Yeonjun is totally wrong. From what others have said, youâre extremely picky when it comes to guys.
âSo, when are you going to ask her?â Yeonjun says, snapping Soobin out of his trance. âSheâll be here any minute if you wanna do it then.â
âSheâs coming over now?â Soobin asks, his palms feeling infinitely more sweaty. He hasnât had any time to do his hair or choose a good outfit, let alone run to the store and pick up any of the little presents he had planned on getting for you.
âWeâre going to get breakfast. Some new cafĂŠ sheâs been dying to try,â Yeonjun replies, his mouth full of a croissant. Soobin rolls his eyes. If the two of you are about to go out to eat, why the hell is he stuffing his face right now?
Soobin checks his watch. If he leaves now, heâll surely make it back before the two of you return. âCan you make sure that you guys come here when youâre done?â
âI can make no promises,â Yeonjun sighs, staring at his reflection in the hallway mirror. He throws on a pair of sunglasses, his phone ringing to signal that heâs gotten a text, most likely from you. âY/N is going to meet me outside. Itâs now or never, dude.â
Soobin glances out the window and spots you standing in the courtyard, wearing a floral sundress that hugs you in all the right places. The sunlight shines down on your hair, leaving a glow that makes you look absolutely angelic. He swallows hard.
Youâve made yourself comfortable on a bench just outside, your feet propped up on the arm rest.Â
âIt looks like sheâs been waiting a while,â Soobin observes.
âYeah, I know,â Yeonjun says nonchalantly.Â
âShouldnât you hurry up, then?â
âWhy are you asking so many questions?â Yeonjun scoffs. âSince youâre so concerned, Iâve got a date after this, okay? Well, if you can even call it that. Point is, I need to look good, and that takes time.â
âI guess Iâll just ask her another day, then,â Soobin sighs in defeat, backing away from the window. He knows better than to push Yeonjun. âListen, will you do me a favor?â
âDepends on what it is.â Yeonjun is still admiring himself, now unbuttoning even more of his shirt. He might as well go topless at this point, Soobin thinks to himself.
âCould you maybe mention me and see how Y/N reacts?â Soobin asks, adjusting his glasses.
âI will for 30,000 won,â Yeonjun deadpans, not even bothering to look Soobinâs way.
âAre you joking?âÂ
âNo. I donât care if you guys date, but I certainly wonât be making it easy for you. Sheâs my friend. If you become her boyfriend and start taking her out, thatâs less time sheâll be spending with me.â Sometimes, most of the time, Soobin really hates his roommate.
âYou suck,â Soobin says, reaching into his wallet and handing over a few bills. âHere.â
âPleasure doing business,â Yeonjun grins, pocketing the cash. A knock at the door startles both of them. âWhy donât you get that?â
Soobin heads for the door, knowing youâre on the other side of it. He mentally prepares himself, smoothing his hair into place and checking his breath.
When the door swings open, youâre surprised to see Yeonjunâs roommate staring at you.
âUh, hi,â you greet him. Soobin holds his breath. Youâre even more beautiful up close. âIs Yeonjun ready to go? Iâve been waiting downstairs, for like, ten minutes.â
âI donât think so,â Soobin says, stepping aside to let you into the dormâs common room. âYouâre welcome to wait, though.â
âThanks,â you reply, stepping in and spotting your best friend fussing with his hair. âHi Junie!â
âHi, Y/N,â Yeonjun smiles. He pulls you into a tight hug. âSorry to keep you waiting. I didnât see your texts. I just need a few more minutes, okay?â
Soobin knows his roommate is lying, but heâs not going to be the one to tell you that.
âOh, yeah, of course,â you say, making yourself comfortable on the couch. You turn your attention to Soobin, who you donât really know much about. âHowâs your morning going, Soobin?â
âItâs good. Great, actually! A little busy, but I like having things to do, you know?â
âYeah, I get that. What are you up to?â
âMostly running errands. Then later I have to take some photos of todayâs soccer game for the school newspaper, go to jazz band practice, and study for my econ midterm,â he rambles.
âWow. Thatâs⌠a lot.â Your eyes widen, wondering how he manages to juggle that kind of schedule. Sure, you care about extracurriculars too, but never enough to risk burning yourself out.
âSoobin is a real nerd, Y/N. If you ever need a tutor for anything, heâs your guy,â Yeonjun calls from the bathroom.
âOoh, okay. How are you at multivariable calculus?â you inquire. Itâs the class youâve been struggling with the most this semester.
âMath is unfortunately the one thing Iâm bad at,â Soobin admits. He opens his mouth to keep talking, but Yeonjunâs finally returned, at last ready to go.Â
Soobin watches as Yeonjunâs hand finds yours, pulling you up off the couch before finding its way around your waist. âLetâs head out, babe.â
âYay! Okay, well, bye, Soobin!â You wave, being pulled along. âIâll see you around, I guess.â
Yeonjun drags you out the front door before Soobin can even say goodbye, the sweet scent of your perfume lingering in the air behind you.
Soobin waits a few minutes to make sure the two of you wonât be stopping back in before he faceplants onto the couch, letting out a long sigh. At this point, he isnât sure if heâll ever have the chance to tell you how he really feels with your âbestâ friend standing in the way.
âââââ-
Soobinâs heart nearly beats out of his chest the second he lays his eyes on you. Youâre wearing the same sundress from earlier today, but this time without the slouchy cardigan draped over your shoulders, and your hair is thrown into a perfectly messy updo. To top it all off, youâve got glitter dusted along your neck and collarbone, making you shimmer under the glow of the fratâs neon lights.
He wants nothing more than to lean down and kiss it all off of you. The only issue is that youâre surrounded by a ton of other partygoers who probably all want to do the same.
Youâre the only reason he even bothered to come to this party and he might not even get the chance to talk to you. He may not have been of any help this morning, but at least Yeonjun was decent enough to text Soobin and let him know the two of you would be here tonight.
âSoob! I didnât think youâd actually come!â Yeonjunâs voice startles him as he claps his roommate on the shoulders from behind, his hands still wet from swimming in the pool. Soobin jerks back, nearly spilling the contents of his red solo cup.
âShe looks hot, doesnât she?â Yeonjun continues, glancing past him to see you twirling your hair as you gently let another guy know he has no chance with you. Soobin hates it when he talks about you this way, even if itâs true. âDid you tell her youâre in love with her yet?â
âWe havenât even talked,â Soobin says, his voice barely reaching above the musicâs blast. He stares down at his white sneakers, sticky from the spilled drinks and god knows what else is lining the fratâs linoleum floors. âDid you do what I asked you to, by the way?â
âShit, sorry, man. I totally forgot. But you know what? Maybe we can change your luck,â Yeonjun smiles, feeling a bit sorry for his lovesick roommate. âMe and a few other people are gonna start a game of spin the bottle in the next room if you want to try and kiss her.â
Itâs the opportunity of a lifetime. Except when you spin the bottle and it glides past him, landing instead on Yeonjun, Soobinâs heart plummets into his stomach.
You lean past him with a shy smile on your face, wrapping your arms around your best friendâs neck as he pulls you into the steamiest kiss Soobin has ever seen. Itâs enough to make him wonder if maybe the two of you have done this more than just once.
Despite being over in seconds, it feels like hours to Soobin. To make matters worse, when you pull away, your lips wet with Yeonjunâs saliva, you wave at him with the most gorgeous smile in the world.
âSorry, man,â Yeonjun whispers to Soobin, running a hand through his hair, messed up from where your fingers were just laced through it. âMaybe next round.â
If Soobin could fight, he wouldâve certainly thrown a punch straight into his roommateâs jaw. But even though he towers over him by a few good inches, he knows that heâd be out like a light and wake up with a black eye thatâll truly never let him forget about this moment.
When itâs finally his turn, it lands on a girl just a few spots over from you and he does his best not to look disappointed. Sheâs pretty, for sure, but sheâs not you. Soobin plants a quick kiss on her lips and the crowd groans.
âMore!â an unfamiliar voice chants. The rest of the players join in, although all Soobin can pinpoint is the sound of you nearby, egging him on to make out with another girl.
He relents, enough alcohol in his system to finally let loose, pulling the girl into a fast, sloppy kiss. The crowd shifts to whooping and hollering, and he sees you giggling with one of your girl friends out of the corner of his eye.
It isnât until the two of you watch as Yeonjun gropes that same friend seconds after the bottle lands on her that Soobin notices a shift in your mood. Your once everlasting smile has been replaced with a blank stare that unmistakably signals heartbreak.
Soobin would know. He was making the same face just a few minutes ago.
Eventually, the game fizzles out and everybody disperses back into the fratâs crowd, still going strong despite being hours in.
After wandering around the party for a while, Soobin spots you at the keg, frustratedly pouring yourself another beer. From the way youâre stumbling, he knows itâs probably not a good idea for you to actually drink it.
âHey, wait,â he intervenes, grabbing the plastic cup out of your hand. âY/N. Maybe you should slow down.â
âFuck off,â you scoff before turning to see whoâs interrupted your binge. Your cheeks heat up at the sight of Soobin, Yeonjunâs roommate. He usually never comes to these things and has only ever been really, really nice to you. âSoobin. I am so, so sorry. Iâm just going through it right now.â
âI can see that. Do you want to get some fresh air?â
âYes, please.â He loops his arm around yours and guides you outside, making sure that you donât trip on any uneven steps or loose cans.Â
If it were Yeonjun, heâd carry you bridal style, letting you nuzzle your head into his shoulder until you reached your dorm room.
âYou can have some of mine,â Soobin says, handing over his drink as you steady yourself against the porchâs railing. âItâs just Sprite.â
You nod and gulp the entire cup of soda down, the bubbles tickling your dry throat.
âYouâre jealous, arenât you?â Soobin continues, catching you off guard. You turn to stare at him, eyes wide before you fix your expression to something more nonchalant.
âNo, Iâm not.â He looks back at you with a frown, letting you know that heâs seen just enough tonight to not believe any of what youâre saying. Soobin doesnât seem like the kind of person youâd want to lie to, anyway.
âFine, maybe just a little bit,â you admit, crossing your arms in defeat. âI mean, in general, how are girls like me supposed to compete with girls like her?â
âLots of guys would kill to be with a girl like you. Sheâs just more⌠straightforward.â You can tell he canât actually come up with a better explanation for why his roommate isnât into you.
âI kissed him the way Iâve been wanting to for years now. I donât know how much more straightforward I can get. You know, last week, I asked if there was anything going on between the two of them and he told me she wasnât his type?â
âWho isnât Yeonjunâs type?â Soobin laughs awkwardly, regret immediately settling on his face as he realizes he probably shouldnât have said that. Heâs right and you know it, though.
âPlease tell me they arenât making out right now,â you change the subject, hoping and praying that the answer is no.
Soobin glances over his shoulder back into the party to see Yeonjun and your friend entangled, his hands gripping her hips as she grinds into him. âHeâs⌠certainly doing something to her.â
âWow. Okay, thatâs all I needed to hear.â You walk past Soobin to stare at Yeonjun and your friend all over each other. Itâs a horrifying scene, but for some reason, you canât tear your eyes away. âYou know, Iâd hate to see how he is with a girl heâs actually into. Men really suck sometimes.â
âY/N, look at me,â Soobin says, his voice the steadiest its been all night.
âHuh?â you ask in confusion. Soobin turns you back around, his hand reaching up to brush a strand of hair from your face. It trembles against your cheek as he leans in close to you.
âWe can get back at him,â he whispers, both of your heart rates rising by the second. His breath is hot against your ear. âIf you want to.â
You canât believe the words that have just come out of his mouth. Choi Soobin, Yeonjunâs sweet roommate who has only ever spoken to you in the most polite and platonic way, is offering to help you make your best friend jealous.
Your silence makes him backtrack, the panic in his voice evident. He really has no clue whatâs gotten into him. âIâm sorry, Y/N. I was just joking! I didnât actually meanââ
âLetâs do it,â you say, cutting him off. Before he can protest, youâre pulling him back into the frat house and onto the middle of the dance floor, right next to Yeonjun.
Soobin can barely believe this is happening right now, and if his arms werenât wrapped around your waist, heâd pinch himself.
Usually, you keep to yourself at parties, kindly entertaining menâs advances, but never giving them the satisfaction of dancing with you. Tonight, youâre breaking all of your own self-imposed rules with the guy you least expected to.
âKiss me,â you say into his ear, loud enough to fight the musicâs volume, but quiet enough for Yeonjun not to hear. Soobin looks at you with sheer panic on his face and you know immediately that heâs incapable of making the first move.
At least thatâs what you think before he crashes his lips onto yours. Despite watching him awkwardly make out with someone else earlier, heâs surprisingly good at kissing. Thereâs a hunger to the way he grabs your waist and pulls you closer that makes you smile into him.
As you feel his soft hair beneath your fingertips, you almost forget why youâre kissing him in the first place. When you finally separate, you turn to see Yeonjun staring at the two of you, a sly grin on his face that makes you question if youâve made the right decision.
âââââ-
âThat was so humiliating,â you groan, trudging down the sidewalk. Soobin trails you like a puppy dog. âHe was happy for us. So much for making him jealous. You know, maybe we should just call this whole thing off now.â
âNo!â Soobin panics. âI, uh, I have an idea.â
âWhich is?â you say, stopping to look at him. You can tell by the way he stares blankly at you that he doesnât actually have an answer.
âWell⌠if we keep this up, then Yeonjun will see how great of a girlfriend you are and heâll want you for himself! Really, weâve just gotta give it more time.â
Your head aches, but Soobin does make a little bit of sense. âFine, okay. How long are you willing to put up with me for?â
Soobin knows he canât say forever. âWhy donât we try until the end of the semester? If he doesnât confess his love to you by then, then weâll stage a break up.â
âSounds like a deal,â you say, reaching out your hand to shake. Soobin hesitates. âI donât have cooties, you know. Besides, your tongue was kind of just down my throat back there.â
âRight, sorry,â Soobin says, taking your hand into his. Itâs much bigger than you expected, nearly covering yours in its entirety. âDeal.â
âCome on,â you say, continuing your trek back to your dorm. âLetâs go.â
âMy room is the other way,â he attempts to remind you. You donât even bother to look back at him, wanting to get out of the cold and into your bed.
âWeâre going to mine. Yeonjun is never going to believe weâre together if he catches you in your own bed tonight.âÂ

âWhat did I say before, hm? Finders keepers,â you declared, grabbing his other hand. âYouâre not going to die as long as I have something to say about it.â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
The screen of your phone lit up from where it sat on the dashboard of Jungwooâs spaceship, and you immediately grabbed it. It was Donghyuck, and at this point, you wouldâve taken your bestie âSPAM LIKELYâ to get you out of here.
âHey, itâs Hyuck, you got it here?â You asked Jungwoo, already on your feet.
âYes, Iâll be okay,â Jungwoo confirmed, eyes momentarily leaving the screen to meet yours.
You clambered out of the hatch with haste, taking off into the trees. Hastily sending Donghyuck a text that youâd call him back in a minute, you practically bolted back up the cliffside to get to the road before doing just that.
Hyuck picked up before it could even ring once, not wasting any time, âHey, howâs our pet alien?â
âHe has a name,â you retorted, still out of breath.
âHe doesnât seem to mind when I call him that.â
âHe probably doesnât understand how derogatory it could be. His language might not have a direct equivalent for the concept.â
âYeah, whatever, how is he?â
âFine. All of his wounds have healed.â
Your friendâs tone immediately shifted. âYou sound weird. Whatâs going on?â
âNothing!â You insisted.
âY/N.â
âPromise not to tell anyone?â
âSure.â
And so after explaining your situation to Donghyuck to the best of your ability, you waited with bated breath for his response.
âOh my God, heâs going to lay his eggs in you,â he gasped.
âHyuck! Gross!â You hissed, half-ready to hang up right then.
âIâve seen enough alien movies to know where this is going.â
âOr watched too much weird porn.â
âYou didnât laugh at my joke, clearly youâre in crisis, sorry.â His apology sounded sincere.
You sighed, staring down into the trees below you that you knew contained a spaceship and spaceman that werenât from here, that didnât belong here. âI mean, heâs still fixing his ship to leaveâŚâ
âWhat if he plans on abducting you and taking you with him?â
âStop it!â You scolded him again. âJungwoo wouldnât do that.â
âYou seriously think heâll just leave his mate behind?â
âYou are way too comfortable saying that word.â
âThis is not about my nighttime proclivities.â
âIf I told him to, yeah, I think he would. Heâs been super respectful, all things considered.â
âOkay⌠whateverâŚâ
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
You were worried. Jungwoo had continued fixing his ship, but with each passing day, you swore he was looking worse again. He said his wounds had completely healed inside and out, but the pallor of his skin didnât look right, he was moving slower again, and he didnât eat as much at meals. You took a risk and took him there during the day today, not wanting to risk drawing out his stay on Earth any longer than necessary.
Just getting him down to the ship today was perilous, as he tripped going down the last of the hillside. A rock had cut his arm, thankfully not very deep, but the sight of the deep blue blood did nothing to calm your anxious mind. He let you take a second to use a first aid kit in the ship on him, but then was right back to business as usual, fixing his ship.
âHowâs it coming along?â You asked, hovering over him worriedly as he sat on the floor, working on a panel under the control console.
âItâs almost done,â he informed you quietly.
âJungwoo, you donât look okay.â
âIâm fine.â
âIs it the hydrogen? Or something else that you canât get on Earth?â You went to press the back of your hand to his forehead. It was sticky with sweat, but simultaneously cold and clammy. âShit, dude, you feel awful.â
âIâmâIâll be fine.â
âAre you sure?â
âYes, I just need to get back to-to Galaria.â
âOkay, yeah,â you nodded. âLetâs get you back. You said itâs almost done. What else do you need?â
âOne of your friends is a mechanic?â
âYeah, Yuta. He fixes cars.â You were slightly alarmed that he apparently couldnât remember which one.
Jungwoo held out a long, thin black tube to you. âCould you ask him if he has something like this? Twice as long?â
âOf course! I'll go right now!â You took the tube from him. âYou stay right here. Rest, okay?â
He nodded, leaning against the panel and shutting his eyes.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
You ran into Yutaâs auto shop, skidding to a stop and nearly crashing into a bench and toolbox, drawing the attention of everyone in the shop. Every head whipped over to look at you, and Yuta pushed himself out from under a truck on the far side of the shop.
âYuta!â You dashed over to him, ignoring the attempts at conversation from his coworkers as you ran by them.
âOff-limits, assholes!â Yuta yelled back at them before focusing on you again, grabbing a rag to wipe his hands off. âY/N, what are you doing here?â
âItâs Jungwoo, he needs something like this, but double the length.â You held the tube out to him. âDo you have anything like it? Iâll pay for it.â
Yuta inspected it with a furrowed brow, and you dropped your voice even lower as the sounds of the auto shop rose again.
âPlease, heâs-heâs really not doing well. I donât know how much longer he can be here, Yuta. Something about Earth, itâs not good for him. Iâm really worried.â
âYeah, I would be if I were you.â Yuta handed the tube back to you, then crossed his arms over his chest. âI gave him a part just like that two days ago. He said it was the last piece he needed.â
âWhat?!â Your heart fell to the pit of your stomach.
âI gave him a new brake hose two days ago. Unless he blew it up again, this isnât it.â
âIâve got to go.â You took off towards the door of the garage. âBye, Yuta! Thanks!â
âSee you around!â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
Something wasnât right. You could feel it in the pit of your stomach as you looked down at the brake hose in your hands. You could feel it in the deep rumble of the pavement under your feet as you ran down the shoulder of the highway back towards the ship. You could feel it in your lungs as you sucked in air that smelled oddly smoky. There was no caution in your movements as you took the familiar path down into the trees. Sirens followed behind you from all directions, converging on the same place as you. But you had gotten there before them.
The ship pulsated with an energy you had never seen before, no longer dull dark metal, but thrumming with power, colorful bursts of light jumping from panel to panel. The reactors at the back that you had watched Jungwoo rebuild with his own two hands roared to life.
No friends to grab you and hold you back now. It was only you.
You lunged for the button that you knew would extend the ladder, throwing the hose to the ground so you could have two free hands to scramble up the side of the ship. At the cockpit, you held onto the top rung of the ladder as the ship jerked and lifted off the ground. You desperately hit the other button to open the glass hatch, dropping into the cockpit and pulling the dome shut with you.
Jungwoo was crumpled in a heap on the ground in front of the controls, not even in a seat. Thankfully, he took a small, shallow breath. The ship accelerated, throwing the both of you across the cockpit. You swore as your head impacted with the wall, and Jungwoo grunted as he hit another panel.
âWhat the hell is your problem, Jungwoo?â You chastised him as you rolled him over. âYou tell me youâve imprinted on me, then send me off on a wild goose chase so that you can leave without saying goodbye? And then you fucking pass out?â
âY/N?â He mumbled, slowly blinking a couple times as he looked up at you. âThatâs⌠you?â
âYes, you dumbass,â you scoffed, pulling his head onto your lap as you were truly just relieved to see his eyes open again. âNow come on, donât fall asleep on me again.â
âMm⌠yes⌠itâll be nice⌠I think⌠to die in your arms.â
âChrist, youâre so dramatic,â you rolled your eyes to not give away how fast your heart was beating, how sweaty your palms were, or that your hands were shaking with nerves. âYouâre not going to die. You hear me? It looks like youâve already put in directions back home, right? To Galaria? Please tell me this thing has autopilot.â
âYes. Provided⌠there are no⌠unexpected emergenciesâŚâ He took several uneven, short breaths. âThe ship⌠will take care of itâŚâ
âAwesome. How often are there unexpected emergencies in intergalactic travel?â
Jungwoo was out cold.
You hung your head, letting out a deep sigh. âCool. Great. Nice one, Y/N. Stuck on a spaceship that you donât know how to fly. In space. With a half-dead alien. Stellar life choices, as always.â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
You had no clue how much time had passed since youâd left Earth. There were no clocksâat least not ones that you could readâin Jungwooâs ship, and your spaceman stayed knocked out, never coming close to consciousness. You got hungry at some point, but you couldnât find any food, or least anything that you would risk eating this early. Maybe if it really felt dire. You hadnât stocked Jungwoo up with supplies yet, you thought you had more time. Was he really planning on leaving like that?
A pleasant dinging came over the speakers of the ship eventually, reminding you of the sound that played over plane intercoms when an announcement was made. A computerized voice said something, but you realized you couldnât understand it. You couldnât make out a single word or syllable. It must be speaking Galarii. Nothing was flashing red, hopefully it wasnât anything that required your assistance.
It felt like the ship was slowing down. You held onto Jungwooâs lifeless body tightly to brace the two of you. He was still warm, and you took a small comfort in that.
With another jerk and cacophonous rattle, the ship touched down. You were pretty sure. The hum of the reactors died down, and it felt like the ship had finally stopped. Jungwoo let out a weak sound of pain in your arms, and you were on your feet.
You slammed your hand against the button to open the hatch with none of the grace that youâd seen Jungwoo use dozens of times. Tugging the transcoder off his neck, you put it on yourself before wedging your shoulder under his, planting your foot on a seat cushion, and heaving upwards with as much force as you could. Either the gravity on Galaria was different, you were having an adrenaline rush, or both, as Jungwooâs body actually moved with you. You jerked both of you up onto the ladder, yelling in between deep breaths.
âHelp!â Shove. âHelp us!â Heave. âHelp! Somebody!â Push. âHelp!â
After the next jump, your head poked out of the cockpit. Immediately, you were met with winds that whipped your hair around and chilled you to the bone. You took as deep of a breath that you could, the frosty air feeling like knives in your lungs, to let out another cry, âHelp!â
The lilac sky was barely visible through the snow that flurried around your face, sticking to your skin and hair. Two figures appeared through the snowstorm, approaching the spaceship, and you readjusted your hold on Jungwoo to lean his weight back on you to free up one arm to wave at them fervently.
âOver here!â You screamed. âHelp us! Please!â
Jungwoo coughed, blue blood dribbling out of his mouth.
âOh godâŚâ You cupped his cerulean-stained cheek, panic flooding your heart as you saw the two figures stop in their tracks.
Heaving the two of you over the side in the quickest way you knew to get down, you slid down the ship, the fresh snow that had piled up breaking your fall about as well as Donghyuck had before. The impact rattled up your feet and knees, and you swore under your breath as you definitely heard something pop that had never popped before. Wrapping Jungwooâs arm around your shoulders, you started dragging him towards the two figures.
âHey!â You yelled out at them, glaring against the snow and wind. Tears streamed down your face as the wind battered your eyes, and your teeth were already chattering. âWhat the hell are you doing? Heâs fucking dying! Help him!â
This finally spurred them into moving again, the figures rushing towards you once more. As they got closer, you could see that they were human-likeâGalarii, presumably. They were bundled up for the weather, goggles and cloth masks obscuring much of their faces from you, but as they reached to take Jungwoo from you, a sudden fear seized you, and you jerked back from them at the last second, tightening your hold on him.
They must have been able to guess what spooked you, as one lifted up his goggles and pulled down his mask to let you see his face as he addressed you.
âIâm Kun. Thatâs my aide, Dejun,â he indicated to himself, then to the other Galarii. âIâm Jungwooâs brother. Please.â
You looked between them for a moment, then nodded. They moved to each take one of his arms and loop it around their shoulders. You stayed close as they trudged through the snowstorm with him, your worried eyes staying on Jungwoo. Your feet were entirely numb, and you didnât register when one of the caught on something under the snow until you were already catapulting forward face-first. Your hands were tucked under your arms, and you couldnât get them out fast enough to break your fall. Kun thankfully had faster reflexes than you, and managed to catch you by the arm, leaving you suspended above the snowbank for a perilous moment. He jerked you back until you got your feet under you again, and you mumbled out a thank you that was muted by the winds. Looking over your shoulder, your knees nearly gave out again when you saw the trail of blue drops that Jungwoo was leaving behind.
Kun once again grabbed your arm, and you looked at him inquisitively, coming to a stop as they did. You were in front of a cliffside by the ocean, which was in fact a cotton candy pink, no buildings in sight. The sea spray stung your eyes, made them water up, and you did your best to cover them without entirely obscuring your vision.
Dejun approached the rock wall as Kun took on all of Jungwooâs weight. You heard a faint groan, and you werenât sure which of them it came from, but you moved to take over where Dejun had just been. Jungwoo was no longer warm.
Dejun touched his own pendant to part of the stone, and you swore you saw something glow, but that couldâve been the refraction of light off the waves into your pupils, you couldnât be sure. An opening formed in the cliffside, and Dejun ushered the three of you in. As soon as you stepped in, it didnât feel like you were underground, or inside a cliff. It just seemed like you were indoors. Sure, it was dim, but pleasantly so, like it was evening. It was also warm, which you were glad for. You readjusted your hold on Jungwoo, pressing your hand against his chest for some stability, the right side of his chest, desperately hoping that maybe you could feel his heartbeat finally. You couldnât.
Dejun didnât request to take Jungwoo back from you though his hands hovered around you uncertainly, as if he were about to. You werenât sure if you wouldâve let him this time. Instead, he simply led the way through the sprawling home you had found yourself in. You didnât pay attention much to your surroundings, only enough to make sure you werenât going to trip while you carried Jungwoo. Finally, you made it to a bedroom of some kind, and Kun motioned for you to put him down on the bed there.
Kun took off some of his outer layers, letting you see his face again for the first time since he found the two of you at the ship. Dejun reentered the roomâyou didnât realize he had leftâalso no longer in his thick parka and carrying what must be a first aid kit, handing it off to Kun.
âWhatâs your name?â Kun asked, his eyes focused on the materials in his hands.
At first, you couldnât talk, your throat too dry from the cold air outside. You desperately swallowed and coughed, then hoarsely said, âY/N.â
Dejun poured you a glass of something from a jug in the corner, and you looked it over. It looked like water to you, and you remembered that Jungwoo didnât seem put off by what water looked like on Earth. You took a tentative sip. Tasted like nothing. It soothed your raw throat a little bit, and you drank some more.
âMy nameâs Y/N,â you reiterated, then faltered as you looked at Jungwoo. âIâm⌠Jungwooâs friend. He crashed on Earth, we were helping him get back. But then he started getting like this. You can help him, right?â
Kun gently tilted his brotherâs head back and forth, the prevalent frown on his features only deepening. âDejun, some help?â
The aide came over, and the two of them lifted Jungwooâs shirt up over his head. You gasped when you saw some bruising on his back and side, presumably from when he hit the wall when you took off from Earth. But the two Galarii didnât focus on that. Their attention was on his shoulders instead, having a hushed conversation between themselves.
âIs his shoulder okay?â You asked. âIs it broken or something?â
âHis joint is fine,â Dejun reassured you.
âOh, good.â
âY/N,â he said your name quietly, eyes focused on your leg. âYouâre bleeding. I think.â
You looked down at your still-numb extremities, registering for the first time that you had apparently been cut by something outside. Bright red dripped down the side of your left leg, and you held back the instinct to touch it in disbelief.
âOh. Sorry.â You apologized, as you noticed a spot on the floor. âUhm, do you have a band-aid?â
âFollow me, weâll get it cleaned up and give you some new clothes.â
You looked at Jungwoo anxiously, where Kun was still tending to him. âIâm fine.â
âHeâll still be here, Y/N,â Kun promised. âIâm sure my brother would want us to take care of his friend too.â
Reluctantly, you went with Dejun into an adjoining room. After getting your cut washed out and a bandage applied, he fetched you some warmer clothes.
âThanks, Dejun.â You wrapped your arms around yourself. âCan I go back?â
âSure. Iâll bring you some food.â
Stepping back into the room, you saw Kun cleaning up Jungwooâs face and chest where his blood had begun drying.
âCan I help?â You offered tentatively.
Kun waved you over. âHis head keeps lolling around. Can you keep him still?â
âOf course.â You sat on the corner of the bed, gently rearranging Jungwoo to cradle the back of his head with both your hands in your lap. Brushing some of his hair from his face, you took comfort in watching the shallow but steady rise and fall of his chest. âIs that better?â
âYeah, thanks.â
âHis iridophores donât look right.â You stated, able to see the reflective patches on his cheeks and shoulders from this angle. âThatâs what youâre worried about, right?â
Kun nodded. âYes.â
âTheyâre⌠dull.â You kept your hands where they were. The realization did nothing to soothe you. âWhat does that mean?â
âI canât say.â
âWhat can it mean?â You asked insistently, eye boring holes into the top of Kunâs head as he was bent over focusing rather intently on one spot. âOn Earth, one symptom can mean a lot of things. What can dull iridophores be a symptom of?â
âWe wonât know anything until he wakes up,â Kun reiterated, soaking and wringing out the washcloth one final time. His eyes met yours, his own iridophores glinting in the lights. âPlease, I donât want to speculate before then.â
âFine. Okay,â you relented for now.
The Galariiâs gaze fell to the pendant around your neck. âThatâs Jungwooâs transcoder.â
You looked down at it as well. âYeah. I figured I needed it more than him right now. You know, consideringâŚâ
âHas he explained to you how it works?â
âTelepathy. Which he told me is apparently very scientific to you all, and definitely not witchcraft,â you snorted.
Dejun entered, a plate of food in his hand. Kun nodded towards it for you. âEat.â
You sighed, pressing your hand to Jungwooâs cheek once more. He wasnât ice cold anymore, but still felt clammy to the touch. Maneuvering his head back to the pillow, you moved over to the table where Dejun had set the food for you. It all seemed food-like, and if your attention wasnât so focused on your spaceman, you were sure you would be much more enthralled by eating alien food right now. But you could barely even taste it as you wolfed down a few bites, then a few more when Kun was still carefully watching you. When he seemed satisfied that you were fed, you pushed the plate away.
âFull,â you mumbled. âThank you.â
Dejun and Kun exchanged a look, but didnât say anything.
âDo you know when heâll wake up?â You asked. âDonât you guys have like, doctors or something? Healers? I donât know, any sort of healthcare?â
âHis iridophores⌠doctors canât help with that,â Kun explained, obviously choosing his words very carefully. âWe have to see if Jungwoo will pull through on his own.â
âThatâs it?!â You spat back, wide-eyed. Maybe your tone was a bit harsh, but you couldnât believe that they apparently didnât even need a real doctor to examine him to give a diagnosis like that.
âY/Nââ
âBut heâsâHe was fine just a few days agoâŚâ You stared at him in disbelief. âWe got ice creamâŚâ
âIâll have Dejun make a room up for you, Y/N,â Kun said, gently patting your shoulder as they moved towards the exit.
âKun.â You grabbed his arm before he got too far. He turned around to look at you inquisitively. âIâm sorry. Heâs your brother, this must be painful for you too. Really, Iâm so sorry.â
He offered a melancholy smile, nodding. âThank you.â

You couldnât sleep that night, kept up thinking about Jungwoo. Finally, after too much restless tossing and turning, you got out of bed. Wandering down the halls of whatever cave house you were in, you turned your phone on. Of course you didnât have service inside a cliff in another galaxy. Coming to a stop in some sort of open living space, you sat down onto something that you were going to call a loveseat, which overlooked a small pool of water that seemed to glow on its own. You stared at your zero bars, thought about Jungwoo dying, being on a planet in a galaxy far away from your friends and family, and for possibly the first time in your entire life, felt so lonely you could cry.
Pulling your knees to your chest, you buried your face in them, feeling so small and wanting nothing more than someone bigger than you to come in and make everything okay again. You dialed Johnnyâs contact on your phone, just to hear the dial tone as the call didnât connect, then dropped and hung up on its own.
You got the feeling that somebody else was there, and turned around towards the entrance. It was Kun, and he ducked his head sheepishly.
âYou couldnât sleep either?â He surmised.
âNo.â You scooted to one end of the seat, offering up the empty space for him to join you.
âI can alter your device, to communicate with Earth,â he offered, gesturing to your phone, the screen of which was still lit up in your hand.
âYou think so?â You asked hopefully.
âYes. It will keep my mind busy, too.â
You placed it in his waiting palm. âThank you!â
He looked at the glowing pond in front of the two of you. âDo you have places like this on Earth?â
âKind of?â You said. âI think? Maybe? Is it some kind of uh, bioluminescence? Some bacteria or something that glow?â
Kun smiled. âYes, exactly.â
âCool. Funny, we have pink oceans too. Like, our whole ocean isnât pink, but thereâs small lakes and stuff that are pink like yours.â
âWhat color are your oceans, then?â He tilted his head curiously.
âBlue, like our sky,â you informed him with a grin. âOr, sometimes a greenish blue.â
âA blue skyâŚâ He muttered, clearly trying to picture that. âIâm sure that fascinated Jungwoo.â
âHey.â You looked at him inquisitively. âIs it really true that you donât know whoâs older?â
Kun chuckled. âItâs different on Earth, then?â
âVery.â
âYes, Galarii children arenât raised being called the older or younger child. Most families have their children very close together, so unless you remember your sibling being born, you typically wonât know which of you is older.â
âAnd school isnât organized by age either.â
âNo.â
âHuh.â
âDo you have a sibling?â
âAn older brother, kind of,â you said fondly. âThatâs who I was trying to call.â
Kun furrowed his brow. âHeâs âkind ofâ older, or âkind ofâ your brother?â
ââKind ofâ my brother.â You laughed. âDefinitely older. We know that on Earth. And even if we didnât, he remembers me being born, soâŚâ
âAh, youâve known him for a while?â
âFriends for my whole life, yeah. He always knows what to do. Which is usually pretty annoying, but this time, I really need that.â
The Galarii with you nodded in understanding. âI donât know everything, but I will do my best to let you speak with him.â
Kun rose to his feet.
âKun.â You stopped him from leaving. âWhen humans are in comas, people say that they can still hear you. Is Jungwoo like that right now?â
âI think it will benefit him for you to spend time with him,â he agreed. âIâll bring you your communicator once itâs ready. You should try to sleep tonight, Y/N.â
You offered him a smile. âThank you, Kun. For everything.â
âThank you for bringing him home.â

When you woke up, you couldnât be sure if it was morning, but it was definitely brighter in the hallway outside your room. You were sure they had the lights set to mimic whatever the rhythm of Galarian days were like.
Jungwoo looked the same as when you left him yesterday, which was both comforting and disconcerting. He hadnât gotten any worse overnight, but he wasnât getting better. You pulled up a chair next to the bed, wringing your hands over your lap.
Feeling a little silly as you looked around the otherwise empty room, you said quietly, âUh, hey, JungwooâŚâ
He didnât stir, and you poked your tongue against the inside of your cheek as you contemplated continuing. Eventually, you did. âI donât⌠know what to say. My grandpa died when I was seven and when my mom took me to his headstone after, I never knew what I was supposed to say to it. Not that youâre dead, obviously⌠I-I was kind of relieved when I got older and my mom stopped taking me with her to visit him. I think thatâs bad. But it felt like I always had to pretend to be as sad as her, which didnât feel right to her.â
You readjusted how the covers settled on Jungwoo. âI wish you were awake, so I could ask you what sort of funeral traditions you have on Galaria, or if your grandparents are alive, or about your mom. I guess I could ask Kun that kind of stuff, but it wouldnât be the same. I-I want to know about you.â
Time passed like that, you having a one-sided conversation with Jungwoo. Dejun sometimes stopped in to bring you meals and check on Jungwoo. After your second meal of the day, Kun entered the room, holding your phone out towards you. It looked the exact same as before, and you went to pocket it.
âItâs fine, Kun, donât worry aboutââ
âTry it,â he urged you.
âWait, you fixed it?â You took it back out, looking down at the screen. It looked normal, except you realized that that now it indicated that you had full bars. Honestly, you were expecting some kind of alien technology to be appended to it, and for the endeavor to take much longer. âThat was fast.â
You once again tried to call Johnny, entirely unsure and uncaring of what time it was on Earth. This time, it rang.
âY/N?!â His voice was a mixture of disbelief and fear when he picked up. You gave Kun a thumbs-up and darted from the room to properly take the call.
âHey, JohnnyâŚâ You were already braced for the scolding of a lifetime, certain that he was well aware of where you were. Somehow, he always knew. Who knew how long you have been gone from home at this point.
âY/NâŚâ He took a deep breath. âJust come home safe.â
âI will, I will!â You promised hurriedly.
âI sprinkled into conversation with your parents your destination bachelorette trip already. So when you get back, youâve got to figure out which one of your friends is getting married.â
Not if, when.
âThank you, thank you.â
âPut Jungwoo on, I need to talk to him,â he demanded sternly.
Your throat nearly closed up as you thought of the scene you had just left, Jungwoo still passed out, his iridophores fading, untreatable even by Galarii doctors. âI canât, heâs-heâs really bad. I donât know whatâI donât know.â
âHey, Y/N, itâs okay. Deep breaths with me now, alright, kid?â Johnnyâs tone immediately softened, and he led you through a few deep breaths over the call. Once he seemed satisfied that you were a little calmer, he continued with the same soothing voice, âHeâll be alright. Heâs back where he belongs, where people who know how to treat him can treat him. Heâll be fine.â
Tears spilled over your cheeks as you shook your head desperately. âThey canât, John. They canât treat him. HeâsâHeâll either get better or he wonât.â
âWhat?!â He asked incredulously. âHeâs not a lame horse that needs to be put down. Who told you that? Put them on the phone.â
âIââ You sniffed and wiped your eyes. âWhy do you care so much?â
Johnny sighed again, lowering his voice. âLook. You are stranded God fucking knows where. And as far as Iâm concerned, Jungwoo is the only alien there that is going to want to get you home. So he canât fucking die.â
You shuffled back into the room, thankfully spotting Kun still in there. âDo you have a transcoder?â
âYes, is there something wrong with yours? I can understand you just fine.â
âNo, uhm, Johnny wants to talk to you.â You indicated to your phone.
Kun raised his eyebrows, gesturing to himself. âYour brother wishes to speak with me?â
âYeah. Heâs a⌠doctor,â you half-fibbed. âHe helped take care of Jungwoo when he crashed before. He wants to know how heâs doing. Will it work over the phone? The transcoder?â
Kun gestured for you to wait, then left the room for a moment, returning with a necklace similar to yours around his neck. The pendant was of a similar construction, but a slightly different shape and angles.
You quickly informed Johnny, âOkay, uhm, this is Kun, Jungwooâs brother.â
The Galarii accepted the phone, and you helped him hold it correctly before he stepped out to take the call like you had. You kept your ears peeled for the worst, hoping Johnny stayed on his best behavior.
âJungwoo, I hate this,â you kept talking to your spaceman in the meantime. âI hate not being able to do anything for you. I hate just having to wait, feeling useless.â
After some time, you heard footsteps outside the room, and quieted down before Kun reentered, holding your phone out to you.
âSo⌠what did you guys talk about?â You asked hopefully.
âThere may be one more thing we can try for Jungwoo,â Kun said, and you immediately got to your feet.
âWell letâs do it!â
He held out a hand to calm you. âItâll have to wait until nighttime, Iâm afraid.â
âWhat? What isâ?â
âIn the meantime, Johnny did mention that human bodies donât naturally make the same painkillers that Galarii do. I apologize for not being aware of that.â Kun bowed his head apologetically. âAre you in any pain?â
âItâs fine.â
âHe said you would do that as well, and to ask again. Are you certain you are not in pain? You cut your leg yesterday.â
You sighed, refraining from rolling your eyes at the man who really was just trying to be kind. âFine. My head hurts a little, and my leg. And sort of everything.â
âCome with me, I can prepare you an injection. Johnny explained proper dosage and administration for humans.â
Reluctantly, you left and followed Kun to another room in the house. It appeared to be another bedroom, and he gestured for you to take a seat at a small desk. Papers were in neat stacks, and you looked around with both interest and eagerness to get this over with so you could get back to Jungwoo.
âIs this your room?â You asked as Kun pulled up a chair and opened a first aid kit of some kind.
âYes.â
âIs that Jungwooâs room that you have him in?â You watched him roll up your sleeve to wipe down your arm first. âDoes he live with you?â
âWhen heâs on Galaria, yes.â Kun then brought out a small, clear bottle and syringe that looked remarkably like the ones back on Earth. âHis ship is more-so his home.â
âHis actual ship, right? The one he took this time was yours.â
The Galarii filled the syringe with a very small amount of medicine. âYes. He doesnât spend enough time here to necessitate having his own place.â
âSo did you finish your paperwork?â
He nodded to the stacks on the desk next to you. âDoes it look like I did?â
You laughed, and he reached for your upper arm. âJust let me know when youâre going to do it. My friend Yuta wanted to be a piercer in high school before he was a mechanic, so I have a lot of practice being stuck.â
âI already did it,â Kun informed you, holding a small piece of gauze to the site.
You looked down in disbelief. âSeriously?â And sure enough, there was an empty syringe on the table too. âDamn, I didnât feel a thing. Youâre good.â
Kun took the gauze off the injection site, a small drop of red blood on it. âYou know, has anybody ever said that is a very alarming color?â
âI think thatâs the point,â you chuckled. âTo get your attention.â
âI seeâŚâ
âSo whatâs the other thing to help Jungwoo?â
âI have some work to get done before it.â He gestured to the papers again with a remorseful look. âHow about you sit with him for now? Iâll let you know once we can get started.â
You bit your tongue to not take your frustration at the situation out on your host. âAlright. Thanks, Kun.â
Back in Jungwooâs room, you froze when you were greeted by two big brown eyes blinking at you from the bed. Jungwoo seemed equally in shock as he rubbed his eyes, squinting at you uncertainly.
âHey, youâre awake,â you breathed out in relief, feet finally coming unstuck so you could dart over to his bedside.
âY/N?â He groaned and tried to push himself up into a sitting position.
âEasy, easy,â you murmured, urging him back down.
âThatâs⌠really you?â
You offered him a smile, hoping he couldnât tell how nervous you were. âYeah. Crazy dĂŠjĂ vu, huh?â
Jungwoo looked down at his own hands. âIâm alive?â
âYeah, you are. It was uhm⌠kind of scary for a while there,â you admitted quietly, taking his hand. Putting some pep into your tone, you added, âBut I told you, remember? I said you werenât going to die.â
âI thought I was hallucinating and dying,â he deadpanned.
âWhen? On the ship? You couldâve been, I donât know. What did you see?â
âYou. I thought I was hallucinating when I saw you.â
âOh. No, Iâm real.â
His mouth was set into a hard line as he asked, âWhy are you here?â
âBecause your shipâs autopilot worked and didnât crash us into the ocean,â you teased.
But he didnât even smile. âWhatâŚ? Why would you do that?â
The smile dropped from your face as you turned confused. âBecause I didnât want you to die? Why are you⌠pissed at me? Is that it? Youâre pissed?â
All the happiness that was bubbling in your chest had been soured with the unexpectedly hostile reaction youâd received from Jungwoo.
âYouâve never been in spaceâ Iââ He took a deep breath, once again trying to push himself up and succeeding this time as you didnât stop him. You dropped his hand, crossing your arms over your chest as you watched him carefully, still concerned with how weak heâd be after not eating or drinking for so long. âWhat if the ship had crashed? Exploded? What if it flew at speeds unsafe for humans? What if my ship didnât protect you against radiation deadly to humans because it was built for Galarii? What if Galarii had much longer lifespans than humans and something that was a short trip for me was longer than your entire life? What if we made it here and you couldnât breathe our air? What ifââ
âNone of that happened,â you insisted.
âThere were any billions of things that could have gone wrong, that you didnât know and youââ
âThey didnât,â you reiterated emphatically.
âWhat if they did? Because of a choice you made for me?â
You rolled your eyes and stood up, putting some distance between the two of you as you felt anger start simmering under your skin. âIt wasnât really a choice. It was⌠I donât know, I just did it. But it was fine, so just stop, alright?â
âWhy did you come with me?â Jungwoo asked knowingly.
âWhy did you try to leave me like that?â You shot back.
He suddenly couldnât look you in the eye. âI was dying, I had to get back home.â
âI know, I was trying to help you get back home,â you scoffed. âI mean, why did you trick me into going to ask Yuta for a part that you already had, so that you could leave me without saying goodbye? I was ready to let you go, Jungwooââ
âBecause hearing you say that wouldâve actually killed me!â His chest heaved after his outburst, his eyes were a watery red as he continued, âAnd you⌠that wouldâve hurt you. And I couldnât stick around just to selfishly enjoy another moment of your time if it meant doing that to you. I figured the confusion wouldnât have been as bad as watching me die.â
The two of you stared at each other for several tense, choking seconds as his words hung in the air. You clenched your jaw, chewing on your next words, ruminating on them, before you swallowed them back down, sharp and bitter.
âI need to take a walk, because if I stay in here, Iâm going to say something nasty that I donât mean,â you spat out instead.

Kun found you by the bioluminescent pond again, a normal-looking water feature by day. You were crouched by the waterâs edge, listlessly watching the water lap at the cold stone floor you were sitting on.
âJungwooâs awake,â Kun said, standing just behind and to your right side.
âYeah.â You swallowed. âYou heard us fighting, Iâm guessing.â
âI didnât hear what was said, only his voice. The only way I could get him to stay in bed was by promising that I would check on you.â
âJungwooâs been out for a while, he should get something to eat, and drinkââ
âDejun is getting him food and water now.â
âGood,â you croaked, wiping at a tear that had collected at the corner of your eye. âGod damn itâŚâ
Kun sat down beside you. âYouâre more than his friend, arenât you?â
âOh, I guess. I donât know.â You picked at your fingernails to avoid looking at him. âHe⌠you knowâŚâ
âImprinted? On you?â The Galariiâs voice betrayed his awe.
âYeah. I know itâs a big deal, like the big deal for you guys⌠but I donât do that, soâŚâ
âItâs been awkward.â
âThatâs one word for it.â
âDo you have a⌠partner on your planet?â He asked sympathetically.
âOh, no, itâs not that bad, thankfully,â you sniffled and laughed. âItâs not that I donât like Jungwoo, or that I canât see myself, you know⌠falling in love with him or whatever. It just feels like Iâm at Point A and heâs already at Point X waiting for me to catch up. Like thereâs this huge gap.â
âHeâs not in love with you, if that helps,â Kun informed you.
You stared at him blankly. âHuh?â
âAh, exactly what I thought. Jungwoo didnât explain imprinting very well.â Kun nodded to himself. âItâs not⌠instant infatuation, or love, or anything like that. Youâre aware, in the back of your mind, that theoretically anybody in the universe could be the person you spend the rest of your life with, right? There may be near infinite numbers of people that you could be attracted to? Hypothetically?â
âI havenât really thought of it like that, but I guess, yeah.â Without Donghyuck here unhelpfully joking about eggs, you found the conversation much easier to process. Or maybe you were just becoming desensitized to the idea, you couldnât tell.
âJungwoo doesnât feel that endlessness anymore. His infinity is just you now. Heâs not in love with you, because he doesnât know you very well, but he knows that the only person he could ever fall in love with for the rest of his life is you.â
âSo Iâm at Point A and heâs at like, Point G, not Point X.â
âIf your analogy is translating correctly, yes.â
You chewed on your bottom lip, mind turning over one part of his explanation. ââCould.â You used the word could, unless the transcoder is being liberal with nuance here.â
âWell, yes. I donât think this is getting muddied in translation. Itâs not definite that heâs going to fall in love with you.â He tilted his head. âI think thatâs what is making you anxious, right? Feeling as though you have no choice, something has already plotted your life for you?â
You nodded. âYeah⌠I think it brings some people peace, doesnât it? On my planet, a lot of people have a god of some kind that they think has a divine plan for them and their life. That⌠freaks me the fuck out.â You let out a breathy, nervous chuckle, wringing your hands. âIâve never liked feeling trapped.â
âYou could leave the planet. If Jungwoo knew it was your choice to leave him, I donât think he would follow you. He would let you go,â Kun offered. âWe have more ships. I would go with you, personally guarantee your safety.â
âDo Galarii have religion?â You avoided answering his question, the intensity of his gaze, looking up at whatever was creating false light in the cavern, unable to pinpoint its exact origin past the hazy glow above you. âJungwoo never mentioned any sort of religious figure, or prayed or anything when he was injured⌠Thatâs kind of when humans wouldâve. Prayed for their God to give them strength.â
He took your conversation shift in stride, âWe have enduring superstitions, traditions, but no sort of organized religion, no.â
âSo this imprinting, itâs not any sort of divine plan, or divine will? To you all? It just⌠is?â
âOne of the superstitions we do have is that of the finderâs intuition.â
âWhatâs that?â
âIf youâve found something, whether you realize it or not, you found it for a reason.â
âJungwoo said something kind of like that about imprinting,â you recalled. âHe said that humans choose their partners, but Galarii find them.â
âYes. So for him to have been in that ship in the first place, which was not his, so far from home, and crashed due to circumstances outside of his control, on your planet, only to meet you, and it just happens that he imprints on youâŚâ
âI found him.â You let out a choked laugh, covering your face at the insanity of it all. Of course Jungwoo had no reason to doubt why he had imprinted on you. You practically told him it was meant to be without even realizing it.
âIâm sorry?â Kun obviously had no context as for why you were laughing.
âI found his ship after he crashed and pulled him out of it. I found him,â you were still laughing as you explained, wiping at a stray tear that eked out. You didnât know if it was from humor or misery at this point. âI literally told him âfinders keepersâ talking about why he was staying at my apartment.â
His eyebrows shot up. âOhâŚâ
âWhy was Jungwoo⌠so bad? When I brought him back?â You still needed some kind of answer. âYou made it sound like you werenât going to be able to help him at all.â
âDo you want to leave?â
âNo.â You answered immediately. It was the same thing that made you get into his ship when it was taking off. Not imprinting, and not love⌠yet.
âI thought he was dying of a failed imprint,â Kun answered without hesitation.
âHe can die from that?! And you were going to just let me leave?! Not just that, personally escort me out of the galaxy?! Heâs your brother!â You shot to your feet, once again in utter disbelief at the conversation you were having.
âI never believed that you wanted to leave,â Kun replied simply. âI understand this is not entirely fair to you. But I do believe that you should understand the gravity of your situation. Again, he seems to be fine now.â
You ran a hand through your hair. âI meanâWhat the hell?! If we were to even like, be together in the future, if we had a fight he could die?! Thatâs fucking crazy!â
âNo,â he reassured you. âThe initial phases of an imprint are the rockiest. If it doesnât take, a Galarii can die.â
âWhat causes it to⌠not⌠take?â
âEmotional turmoil, physical distance from the person they imprinted on, stress, any number of things.â
âBut heâs fine now? You said heâs fine now?â You double-checked.
âYes.â
âSo it⌠took?â
âI believe so.â
âOkay, good.â You let out a sigh of relief.
Kun looked conflicted as he added, âI have a confession.â
You blinked at him. ââŚWhat now?â
âThe injection I gave you, it wasnât just for you,â he admitted. âI of course didnât want you to be in pain, but for Galarii that have imprinted on non-Galarii, itâs been known for their physiology to sometimes mimic their non-Galarii partners. Johnny described to me how Jungwoo healed while on Earth and reacted differently to substances than he would have on Galaria. More human-like, from my understanding. And when he returned with a humanâŚâ
âThat made you suspect that he had imprinted on me,â you finished. âBut you injected me, not JungwooâAnd Jungwoo hates needles, and always knows where I am, so you thought he wouldâve sensed me being in danger in his coma and woken up to protect me? Is that even how this thing works?â
âItâs not exact, what Jungwoo can sense⌠I doubt if I even injected you now, that he would know. Just, the feeling that something wasnât right. An instinctual need to check on you.â Kun rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, his ears flushing red. âI wasnât sure if he had told you, and if I was wrong about the imprint, that wouldâve beenââ
âA horrible situation for all of us to be in, yeah, I understand.â You stared out at the water, thinking about how the one that you were in didnât seem much better in that moment.
âYou two have both been through a lot. Iâm sure youâll come to understand each other.â The Galarii stood up. âIâm going to check on my brother. Take your time, Y/N.â

âY/N?â Dejun found you by the water again later in the day. He was carrying a tray of food, meaning that it must be dinnertime already. You hadnât budged from your spot after your conversation with Kun earlier, thinking way too much about everything.
âDejun, hey.â You held your chin up with the palm of your hand, still staring out at the water. âNobodyâs looking for me, are they?â
You didnât specify who would be looking for you.
The aide approached, handing you a plate of food. âJungwoo asked if youâre alright.â
âI wanted to give him and Kun time alone,â you fibbed. âYou know, theyâre brothers, itâs been a while since theyâve seen each other.â
âKun had state matters to attend to, he took his dinner to his room.â
âOf course, right.â You nodded. âDejun, can I ask you something? And feel free to tell me if itâs way too personal by Galarii standards.â
He arched an eyebrow curiously, but acquiesced nevertheless. âSure.â
âAre you⌠Have you⌠imprinted on someone?â
He smiled just the tiniest bit, and shook his head. âNo, not yet.â
âOkay, thanks.â
With that, Dejun nodded his head politely and took leave of the room. You could only eat a couple bites of the food before you let out a deep sigh and stood up. You found your way back to Jungwooâs room easily, knocking at the open doorway hesitantly. He was sitting at the table eating, and you were happy to see that he was well enough to get out of bed.
Jungwoo looked over from his food, sitting up straighter when he saw that it was you. âY/N.â
âHey.â You gestured to the table with your full plate of food. âMind if I join you?â
âOf course not.â He motioned to the chair across from him hurriedly.
You sat down, studying him under the lights as he went back to eating. âYou look a lot better. Your iridophores⌠You look better.â
âThanks.â He wiped his mouth. âIâm sorry for getting so upset earlier. I couldâve expressed my concerns in a more⌠productive way.â
âYou just woke up from a coma, itâs understandable you werenât all there,â you replied graciously. âThank you.â
âThank you for making sure I got back safe,â he said strongly, putting a hand on your forearm. âKun told me what he knows, and I believe Iâd be dead without you. Their sensors recognized that something that wasnât Galarii had landed on the planet without permission, so they went out to investigate and found us. We landed in a snowstorm, and I was unconscious. If you werenât with me, not only would they not have found us at all, but I wouldâve frozen to death out there.â
âI was why you were dying in the first place, though,â you pointed out. He seemed to be at a loss for words, and you added, âYou should have told me, Jungwoo. Back on Earth, you shouldâve told me what was going on.â
âYouâre right. You kept talking about wanting me to leave with good memories of Earth, I wanted to do the same, leave you with only good memories of me.â
âIf you had really left me like that, I wouldâve been worried sick for the rest of my life not knowing what happened to you,â you told him harshly. âAnd now that I know that you apparently were doing that knowing that you were just going to die⌠I donât get it. I donât get you, and Iâm really trying to.â
âIâm sorry. I was wrong. Youâre not so⌠careless. I donât know how I could have ever thought that.â
You took another bite of food, listening to the sounds of both your breaths in the quiet air. âCould you hear me? When you were out? I-I was talking to you, I couldnât do anything else, and itâs supposed to help humans who are in comas, soâŚâ
âNothing in particular, at least not that I can remember now.â Jungwoo shook his head, but there was still a pleased smile on his face. âBut I donât doubt that having you nearby helped.â
âSo you also donât know why you woke up?â You asked tepidly. âIt wasnât a⌠choice somehow?â
âI remember being on the ship on Earth with you, and then I woke up here. Everything in between⌠I donât recall.â
âThatâs okay.â You both had finished your meals, and you stood up from the table. âI should let you rest some more.â
Jungwoo surprisingly agreed to this, the exhaustion visible in his features. âI wish we could talk moreâŚâ
âTomorrow,â you promised, offering your hand out for him to take. âWe can eat breakfast together again.â
He stood up on shaky feet, and you shuffled back over to the bed with him, helping him back under the covers.
âCould you sit with me? Until I go to sleep?â He requested, gently grasping your hand.
âOf course.â You sat down on the edge of the bed, brushing a few stray pieces of hair out of his eyes.
âYour hands are even colder on Galaria, I think,â he commented, smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
âWell shit, maybe itâs the frozen tundra outside,â you retorted.
âI⌠donât mindâŚâ he hummed, his eyes fluttering shut.
âSleep well, Jungwoo,â you murmured, stroking your thumb over the back of his hand.

You ate breakfast with Jungwoo as promised, happy to take part in this one little thing with him again.
âHow are you feeling?â You asked, sitting with him at the table. He was already there with two places set when you entered.
âBetter than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow,â he told you brightly. âHow did you sleep?â
âGood, good.â You continued watching him carefully as he ate. âYou really feel better?â
âYes, I do.â
âThen do you think⌠do you think it took?â You pushed some food around on your plate awkwardly. âWould you even know that?â
Jungwoo set his utensil down, easing back in his chair slowly. âYes, I think it took. How does that make you feel?â
âIâm happy youâre okay,â you answered honestly. âThe rest⌠Like I said, Iâm trying to understand you, but I just donât get it.â
âAsk me anything youâd like. Please.â
âI mean, doesnât it seem unfair? That Iâm apparently your soulmate, but youâre not mine?â
âUnfair to who? You or me?â
You faltered. âWhat?â
âI do understand how this would seem unfair to youâThat I know that youâre my soulmate, but you donât have that certainty about me,â he shook his head sorrowfully. âYes, that must be terrible.â
âNo, I meant unfair to you. Youâre stuck with me. You donât get a choice. But I do, I donât have that sort of obligation to you,â you pointed out, shifting forward in your chair. âDoesnât that make you⌠anxious?â
âAh, I get it now.â Jungwoo nodded, a thoughtful look on his face as he too sat up. âGalarii find, humans pick. I wouldnât want to take that choice away from you. I⌠understand now, how important it is to you. So, if you do pick me, thatâll be the happiest day of my life. And every day after that that you wake up and pick me again, will be the new happiest day of my life.â
He held his hand out on the tabletop between the two of you, palm up, a soft smile on his face as he looked at you. Not urging, not impatient. You knew he would withdraw it if you turned away.
âYouâre reallyâŚâ You kept looking between him and his hand, keeping your tone curious. âFinding was good enough for you?â
âGood enough?â He chuckled, not derisively but fondly. âIt was even better than I imagined.â
âYou were half-dead, when I pulled you out of that ship,â you reminded him.
âYeah, I was.â
âGalarii find, humans pick,â you repeated. âJust like you wouldnât want to take my choice away from me, it would be wrong to force a choice like that onto you⌠But isnât inaction just as much of a decision?â
Jungwooâs smile only grew. âIf it is, itâs one that I already made. I hope you can respect that, just as Iâll respect whatever you choose to do.â
You placed your hand atop his, offering him a hesitant smile. âThis is me choosing to try this out. Does that make sense?â
âYes.â He squeezed your hand gently. âThank you. Once Iâm better Iâll take you home and take you on real dates there. I promise.â
âSo Galarii date too? I thought you guys wouldâve just gone straight to moving in,â you joked, taking a bite of your food.
âNo. I watched movies with Taeyong and Doyoung,â he explained. âGalarii spend quality time with their mate, yes, but the concept of going on âdatesâ like humans to figure out if youâre compatible⌠we donât have anything quite like that.â
âOf course those two took you to some sappy romantic movies,â you snickered. âI donât need any big romantic public gestures, Jungwoo. Falling out of the sky and almost dying twice was plenty, I swear.â
âYour friends all said something similar.â
âThey were giving you tips on how to flirt with me?â
âYes. It seemed they were aware that I cared for you in some wayâŚâ
You burst out laughing, covering your face in embarrassment. âOh God, Iâm so sorry about them. Forget everything they said, whatever it was.â
âSo, carnations arenât your favorite flower?â
âHold on, thatâs real advice, who told you that?â
âTaeyong.â
âOkay, you can trust whatever Taeyong told you, and probably Doyoung, and maybe Jaehyun,â you counted them off on your fingers. âBut forget everything that anybody else told you.â
âI will,â he agreed with a chuckle. âSome of it didnât seem like very sound advice anyway.â

A couple days later, and Jungwoo was well enough to leave his room finally. The two of you walked around the house arm in arm, chatting about this or that.
âThis is the longest Iâve been on Galaria in quite some time,â he mused.
âKun said that you donât stay for very long, so you donât have your own place,â you said. âDonât you get lonely? Not being around your friends or family?â
âHave you seen either of us have any visitors while youâve been here? Aside from Dejun?â
âWell, no.â
âWe donât see other Galarii much during snow season,â he explained. âItâs less lonely out doing runs, actually. Interacting with customers, going to markets, busy cities⌠crash-landing on planets and being pulled from the wreckage by a beautiful human and her friends.â
âSmooth,â you giggled, bumping your shoulder into his as he smiled down at you. âBut seriously, you guys donât have tunnels connecting your homes or something?â
âGalariaâs crust is very thin compared to other rocky planets. We wouldnât have the depth to build an elaborate system like that. At least not a very efficient one. Any transport that happens needs to be on the surface.â
âHow do you all communicate during snow season then? Do you have phones too?â
âWe have similar communication devices, yes.â
âHow long is snow season?â
âApproximately half a Galarian year.â
You looked up at him curiously. âSo what do you call the other half of the year, then?â
âWe have two more seasons: Snowmelt, and newgreen.â
âI think I can guess what happens in each of thoseâŚâ You joked.
âDo tell.â
âI think the snow melts, and then new green stuff grows.â
He chuckled fondly. âThatâs the basics, yes.â
âBut do you not have something between newgreen and snow season? Like a-a fall of some kind?â You were having a hard time wrapping your head around it. âWe have four seasons for the most part: Spring, everything grows, kind of like newgreen I think; then in summer, it gets hotter but pretty much everything stays alive; then in fall it starts getter colder and things start dying off; then we have winter, and everything is dead or hibernating. Then itâs spring again and everything starts all over.â
Jungwoo listened with interest to your explanation before answering. âSnow season comes very rapidly each year. All the plants freeze at once in the first blizzard. Thereâs no time for a gradual decay like youâve described.â
Your eyes widened. âAre you able to predict when the first blizzard is? Do you have like, meteorologists or something?â
âYes, weâre able to narrow it down rather precisely and prepare.â
âAnd do most Galarii live alone like Kun?â You asked quietly. âI feel like if I was going to be stuck underground for half the year, unable to visit anybody, I might live with more than just one or two people.â
Jungwoo put a finger over his mouth, then nodded towards his room that the two of you had unwittingly looped back around to. He shut the door behind you, and you sat at the table together before he continued with your conversation, âDo you remember how I said my brother is controversial, not for any policies, but for something in his personal life?â
It felt like a lifetime ago, the first conversation you ever had. You nodded. âYes.â
âKun is very dedicated to his job.â
âIâve noticed.â
âHe doesnât take many breaks, or attend social functions that are not required by his job, or, as youâve pointed out, live with anybody except his aide and me, sometimes. Galarii typically do live in larger social centers during snow season. Thereâre no tunnels connecting these niches to each other, like I said before, but some can fit up to twenty or thirty people.â
âAnd you, Kun, and Dejun just have your own house,â you reiterated. âHow would that make him so controversial that somebody would want to kill him?â
âSome Galarii see him as isolationist. Refusing to allow opportunities to find things. They believe it reflects poorly on his ability to lead.â
Your face screwed up with confusion. âBut if youâre looking to find something, thatâs no longer serendipity, thatâs choice. Thatâs action. I thought the whole point was the inaction. Of you finding something when you werenât looking?â
âGalarii have different interpretations of finderâs intuition, and what it means to âfindâ something,â he sighed. âItâs a very small minority that see this as a flaw of his, but those that do feel very strongly about it.â
âStrong enough to try to kill him?â You felt like you were losing your mind trying to comprehend this.
âApparently.â
You pinched the bridge of your nose before giving up. âYou know what? Humans have definitely killed for much less; I donât have any ground to stand on here.â
âThat reminds meâI believe Iâll be well enough to take you home in two more days. Iâm excited to show you my ship.â
âReally?â You focused him with a doubtful gaze. âI donât want you pushing yourself for my sake, Jungwoo. I can wait.â
âThank you. I assure you Iâm being sincere. If Iâm not at my best, that can pose a hazard to your safety.â
You sighed and put your head on his shoulder. âWhile I wish the reasons were a little more concerned for your wellbeing too, I appreciate the honesty.â
Jungwoo gently rested his head against yours. âThank you.â
âFor what?â
âWanting me to live,â he said softly. âWhen you found me on Earth, when you brought me back to Galaria⌠Thank you.â
You picked your head back up to look at him incredulously. âWhat? Why would I want anything else? Why would I want you to die?â
âItâs very rare for Galarii to imprint on other species. And those who do, there havenât been very many that takeâŚâ
âThey died?â
âYes.â He looked down at his hands, fidgeting with the material over his lap. âItâs even a common subject of Galarian stories. Itâs⌠tragically romantic, to die so your mate can be happy with whoever theyâre really in love with.â
You could feel the deep frown on your face as you listened to this. âBut those are just stories. Characters live or die to explore narrative themes and emotions and societal concepts, not to be an example for real life.â
Jungwoo chuckled lightly, tracing a fingertip over one of the lines on your forehead, encouraging you to relax your face again. âThatâs why Iâm thanking you. You chose a different fate for me than the one I had accepted.â
âWhat did I say before, hm? Finders keepers,â you declared, grabbing his other hand. âYouâre not going to die as long as I have something to say about it.â
âImmortality here I come,â he joked, caressing your cheek with the back of his fingers, then even lower, your jawline, your neck, until he picked up the transcoder from where it rested on your chest. He stared at it in wonder, as if it wasnât his own piece of technology.
âYou donât mind, right?â You looked down at the pendant as well. âThat I took your transcoder? I figured it would be easier for me to wear one than expect everyone else toâŚâ
âNo, of course not.â He dropped the jewelry again. âIâm just⌠very happy that it works for you.â
âWhy wouldnât it?â
âThey have to be specially made for the Galarii who is going to wear it. Galarii canât borrow each otherâs transcoders.â
âDoes it have something to do with the telepathy?â
âYes.â He nodded. âIâve never seen someone be able to wear someone elseâs transcoder successfully.â
âNot even Galarii that imprint on each other?â You asked curiously, habitually gracing your own fingertips over the device.
âNo, not even then.â
âMaybe itâs a human thing.â
âMaybe,â Jungwoo hummed noncommittally.

Two Galarian days later, and you and Jungwoo were ready to go back to Earth.
âThank you so much, Kun,â you hugged your host goodbye. âPlease stay safe.â
He looked confused as he released you from the hug. âArenât I supposed to be telling you that?â
You patted his arm. âI mean it.â
âVery well,â he relented with a smile. âThank you, and the same for you.â
After you and Dejun had exchanged your goodbyes, you saw that Kun and Jungwoo were still embracing, and stood off to the side to wait patiently. Kun seemed to be half-hugging and half-lecturing Jungwoo, cuffing him by the ear to pull him down to his height as he spoke on and on seriously, and Jungwoo nodded or gave a joking whine every so often.
âKunâs older,â you leaned over to whisper to Dejun.
âYouâre guessing?â The aide whispered back.
âYou can call it a hunch, yeah.â
Finally, Kun let Jungwoo go, and he straightened up, fixing his clothes with the help of his brother. You and Jungwoo didnât have very much in terms of luggage to takeâJungwoo kept his personal belongings on his ship, and you came with nothing but your clothes and your phone. Kun and Dejun had given you more appropriate outer layers for the tundra outside, as well as food and supplies for the flight back to Earth, but really your only souvenir was your now extraterrestrially-modified cellphone.
âReady?â Jungwoo asked you, carrying the small knapsack of supplies on his back.
You pulled your goggles down over your face and gave him the best thumbs-up you could with the thick gloves you had on. âReady!â
You caught just a glimpse of his eyes crinkling with a smile before he too put his goggles on. Jungwoo clasped your hand as Dejun reached out towards the smooth face of the front door. This time you were able to properly see as he touched his necklace to a small panel that reminded you of the buttons on their spaceships, and a small yellow glow emanated from where they connected. Then, the door slid aside, into the cavern wall. You and Jungwoo stepped out together, the door shutting silently behind you.
Keeping a tight hold to Jungwooâs hand and arm, you followed him through the snow that had continued building up. There was none actively falling now, giving you a much clearer view of the lilac expanse above. Despite the sameness of the landscape, Jungwoo seemed to know exactly where he was going. You didnât realize you had arrived anywhere specific until Jungwoo suddenly stopped at one specific hill, brushing aside some snow on a post. You couldnât read the writing on it, but he seemed satisfied, pulling it down. A small hatch opened in the snow in front of you, and he quickly ushered you over to it. Gesturing for you to wait a moment, he dropped the pack down first, then climbed down after it. From the bottom, he waved you down. You slowly started lowering yourself down as well, Jungwoo waiting right there for you.
Buried under who knows how much snow, your eyes had to acclimate to the darkness again. You had found yourself in the rear of Jungwooâs ship, and he closed the hatch back up after you before pulling you towards the cockpit at the front. It was a two-seater like the one that he had borrowed from Kun, but you could immediately tell there was a lot more of a personal touch to this one. It was sleeker, the controls looking newer than the other, and you saw the occasional knickknack, notepad, or even piece of clothing strewn about the cockpit. He moved a jacket that had been hanging off the co-pilot seat then gestured to it for you.
You sat down as Jungwoo started preparing the ship for takeoff, still thinking about the mounds of snow atop you. Taking your goggles and mask off like he had, you asked, âWhat about all the snow?â
âThe energy generated from the shipâs reactors melts it by the time we take off,â he explained, continuing to flip switches and push buttons.
âWow.â You watched him work with a practiced ease and focus.
Finally, he turned back around to you, leaning in close as he dug around in the seat for your seatbelt. He grinned as he buckled it up and tightened it for you. âCanât forgetâPrecious cargo.â
You just shook your head and smiled as he laughed and sat in his own seat. After getting himself situated, you two were ready for takeoff.
Jungwoo looked over at you, offering his hand out to you. âReady?â
You grabbed it, squeezing it tightly as you nodded. âReady.â
âLetâs go!â He cheered, joyfully slamming his hand down on a button. A countdown started on the monitors and from the speakers, and this time you could understand the announcement. It counted down from 10, and on 1, the reactors changed from a thrum to a full-on blast, and like when you took off from Earth, the ground lurched out from under you again. You couldnât pinpoint the exact moment when you left Galaria, though, only when the reactors cooled back down to a hum.
You looked back over to Jungwoo expectantly. He unbuckled himself, a bright grin on his face. âWeâre out of Galarian space.â
âCool,â you breathed out, looking around the ship with wide eyes.
The Galarii started unbuckling you as well, pulling you to your feet. âCome on, Iâve got to show you around my ship!â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
Maybe it was because you were in a different ship, maybe it was because you were no longer fearing for Jungwooâs life, you couldnât be sure, but the trip back to Earth felt a lot shorter than the trip to Galaria. This time, you directed Jungwoo to land on Johnnyâs family farm just outside the city. Johnnyâs parents were older and no longer kept livestock in one of the barns on the property, making it the perfect place to hide Jungwooâs ship while it was there.
It was nighttime when you arrived, and Jungwoo effortlessly landed in the far-off field that you had been to many times when visiting Johnnyâs grandparents growing up. He maneuvered into the open barn, and you were buzzing with excitement as he powered down the ship.
This time, he let you exit the hatch first, and you looked around eagerly, immediately spotting your two friends by the now-closed doors. You waved to Johnny and Jaehyun, sliding off the side of the ship to land easily on both feet.
âJohnny!â You exclaimed, throwing your arms around him first.
âY/N, oh my God,â Johnny breathed out, crushing you to him so tightly the air was knocked from your lungs. âGod damn it, kid, donât do that again. Okay?â
âOkay, okay,â you coughed out your agreement, rubbing his back reassuringly.
âYouâre late, you know that?â He continued scolding you even as he cradled the back of your head. âYou said five days, weâve been waiting here for two more days. I tried to call.â
âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry, I tried to guess as best I could. The days must be more different than I thought,â you mumbled into his shirt. âMy phone died when we were coming back. Iâm sorry for worrying you. Thank you for waiting, John. Thank you.â
When he finally let you go, you were grabbed in a bear hug by Jaehyun. âIâm glad youâre okay, Y/N. We both are.â
âThanks, Jae,â you let out a sigh of relief at being able to breathe a little better. âI missed you guys.â
âHow are you doing, Jungwoo?â Jaehyun turned to the Galarii next. âJohnny said it sounded pretty bad, but youâre looking alright to me.â
Jungwoo nodded, the transcoder now dangling from his neck. âIâm healed now. Thank you, Jaehyun.â
âGood to hear, dude.â Jaehyun hugged him too. âGood to hear.â
âThanks, Jungwoo.â Johnny offered his hand out for Jungwoo to shake. âIâm glad you pulled through. Really.â
âWhat did you tell your parents?â You asked Johnny nervously. âAbout the barn?â
âI said one of my friends was going to keep a boat here for a few days. Their knees arenât good enough to come all the way out here, they wonât come looking.â He then looked at you pointedly, âYou should make an appearance, Y/N. While youâre here.â
âAre they up now?â
He looked at his watch. âYeah. Your parents are actually over right now.â
You grimaced. âReally?â
âReally.â
âSo I get back from my destination bachelorette trip that I didnât bother telling them about and have enough time to help move a boat into storage but not see my parentsâDaughter of the year,â you muttered regretfully.
âYou did this to yourself, kid.â Johnny patted you on the head.
âI know, I know.â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
Entering the Suhsâ living room where your parents were playing a game of cards, you went around to give everyone hellos, your parents first, then Johnnyâs. Jungwoo was introduced as a friend of Johnny and Jaehyunâs, and lingered in the darkness by the doorway. Jaehyun had provided him a ballcap to help hide his iridophores in the shadows as much as he could as you tried to keep your conversations with your families short and quaint.
âWhen did you get back, Y/N?â Your mom asked.
âEarlier todayâItâs been crazy, sorry I didnât text you, Mom,â you immediately apologized, kissing her head quickly.
âWe picked Y/N up from the airport and got distracted with the boat,â Jaehyun rescued you, flashing a charmingly dimpled smile at the parents. âOur bad, sorry, Mrs. Y/L/N.â
âWho is getting married?â
âUhm, Chaeyoung.â You quickly picked a friend that you had met in college to guarantee that your mom didnât know their parents and therefore wouldnât try to congratulate anybody behind your back.
She nodded. âAhhâŚâ
âWhose boat did you say it was, Johnny?â Mr. Suh questioned his son next. âItâs not Yutaâs, is it?â
âOh, heâs been talking about getting one since high school, hasnât he?â Johnnyâs mom laughed.
âYep, itâs his,â Johnny nodded along.
Your dad appraised the four of you. âAnd he couldnât even help you all?â
âWell, itâs mine too,â Jaehyun once again came in for the save. âWe went in halfsies on it after my promotion. He was busy tonight, so I just went ahead and moved it.â
âJungwoo, isnât it?â Mr. Suh called out to the Galarii.
âYes, sir.â He hastily gave a polite bow, fidgeting with the ballcap under the older manâs gaze.
âHow did you get roped into their three-ring circus?â
âYes, itâs better to stay out of the line of fire, especially where our kids are concerned,â your dad chuckled.
âI donât mind helping, really,â Jungwoo replied, gaze hesitantly skittering over to you. You gave him an encouraging smile.
Johnnyâs mom patted your cheek then. âIâm sure our Y/N must be tired after that trip. Weâll let you all go.â
âThank you, Auntie,â you said appreciatively, giving her a kiss on the cheek as well as you tried to escape with the other guys.
Before you could fully retreat from the room, however, your mom caught your hand. The two mothers exchanged a look as they gestured for you to stoop down to their level. You obliged.
âKeep an eye on that new one, sweetie,â Mrs. Suh rather obviously pointed to Jungwoo even as she whispered.
âHe couldnât take his eyes off you this whole time,â your mom added, just as hushed as her friend.
âGoodbye, Auntie.â you purposefully ignored their statements, giving them final hugs and kisses goodbye. âGoodbye, Mom.â
As the four of you walked from the front door to Johnnyâs waiting car far down the dirt driveway, Jungwoo sidled up to you.
âMay I uh⌠May I know what that was about?â He asked quietly. âWhen they pointed at me?â
You giggled, stopping to pull on his shoulder and bring his ear down to you. âThey were warning me about you. Said you couldnât take your eyes off me.â
Jungwoo chuckled breathily. âAn acute observation.â
âThey said I should keep an eye on you.â
âThat makes me sound dangerous.â
âWellââ
âHey!â Johnny called out from the end of the drive, standing at his car and spinning his keys around his finger. âAre you done?â
âIâve got class tomorrow!â Jaehyun added, though the teasing was apparent in his tone.
âComing!â You chirped back, starting down the driveway again.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
Johnny easily navigated back to your apartment, drumming his thumbs on the steering wheel to the melody playing over his speakers. He finally broke the peaceful quiet in the car as your building was approaching.
âSo how long are my parents going to be housing the boat?â He asked dryly.
âOh, uhm,â you and Jungwoo looked at each other uncertainly. âIâm not sure yet. A few days, maybe more. Is that okay?â
âThatâs fine. Just let me know when heâs going back.â
âRight. Yeah.â
He put the car in park and got out to give you one more hug on the sidewalk in front of your building. Your friend let out a deep breath with you still in his arms. âIâm really glad youâre back, Y/N. Iâm serious.â
âI know, John,â you replied, hugging him back. âThank you.â
Waving to Jaehyun through the window, you and Jungwoo headed inside. Thankfully, you hadnât missed your rent payment while you were gone, so you still had an apartment to go back to. Looking at the day on your phone, you realized that youâd normally have work tomorrow.
âI wonder if Iâve been fired,â you snickered to yourself, closing your front door behind Jungwoo. He looked back at you, clearly worried, but you waved his concern off. âI hated that job anyway.â
The Galarii peered out past your curtains at the full moon in the sky. âItâs late. You should get some rest.â
âIâm not tired,â you admitted. âI think Galarian days are longer or something.â
âDo you remember what you were going to say? In the driveway at Johnnyâs parentsâ home?â
âHm? Oh, when you were asking me about what our moms said?â You stretched your arms above your head. âYou were confused because they made your interest in me sound dangerous. You almost died because of it, why are you confused about that?â
âI understand how it can be dangerous to me, but that doesnât happen to you.â He stepped closer to you, cocking his head in confusion.
You sat down on your couch, gesturing for him to sit with you. âTo humans, it still can be. Falling in love with the wrong person, exposing yourself like that. It can get you hurt, physically or emotionally. Sometimes theyâre a bad person, or sometimes youâre both good people with the right intentions, but it still goes wrong.â
Jungwooâs eyes widened. âAnd you still choose to do this? Over and over?â
âYes, we do,â you laughed. âWhat other choice do we have?â
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c553b006a2d31b5cf9932c7700ffbcca/2e1ef9527acea9aa-d6/s540x810/a605c21fb23cbbb1ab9d54e7fbade7c0ae9e0bef.jpg)
In the late afternoon, after you and Jungwoo had finally woken up and eaten breakfast, you went out for a walk at the seaside. Taking a deep breath in, you reveled in the feeling of the warm rays of sun on your skin again.
âLook at that blue sky,â you beamed up appreciatively. âActually, I think Iâm just happy to see any sky again.â
âReally?â Jungwoo prompted you.
âAfter being underground for so long? Yeah, being in a wide-open space feels good.â You did a big spin with your arms open. The beach was relatively empty in the middle of the week with most everyone at work. âDonât get me wrong, it was cool to see where youâre from.â
âI like it here too,â he agreed with a smile as you returned to his side, lacing your fingers with his.
âThe guys want to get dinner later, by the way,â you informed him. âTheyâre also happy youâre not dead.â
âThatâs kind of them.â
Up ahead was a familiar area of damaged palm trees and brush, slowly beginning to grow back. You pointed to it with a grin, âLook, itâs where we met.â
Jungwoo squinted against the sun, looking at the foliage with interest. âIt is?â
âYep. Looks a bit different in the daytime, huh? And without a spaceship in it?â
âAnd I donât think we ever approached it from this side.â
âAnd thereâs no cops.â You pointed out a nearby firepit as you passed it. âThatâs where we were all hanging out when you crashed. We thought you were a shooting star at first. Hyuck told everyone to make a wish.â
âIs that a human custom?â
âSuperstition, yeah. Youâre supposed to make a wish on a shooting star.â
âWhat did you wish for?â
You grinned. âIf you tell, your wish isnât going to come true.â
âAh, I see. My apologies.â
âBut mine already came true, so thereâs no harm in saying, I think.â
Jungwoo looked at you curiously as you continued.
âI wished for something interesting to happen,â you admitted with a knowing smirk. âAnd the interesting things havenât stopped since.â
He burst into laughter, halting your leisurely stroll as he clutched his stomach. âS-Seriously?â
âSeriously.â You began listing them off on your fingers, âAlien spaceship crashing right next to us, alien inside spaceship being almost dead, alien declaring Iâm his soulmate, alien almost dying again, going to alienâs home planet to keep him from dying, alien getting better and taking me back to Earth. Been pretty interesting.â
He was still laughing, squatting down to try to compose himself.
âSo maybe it wasnât an assassination attempt that made you crash,â you said humorously. âMaybe it was my super powerful wish.â
âBut-But I was already crashing when you made that wish,â he pointed out through giggles. âYou used my-my crashing spaceship to make your wish.â
âAh, technicalities.â
Jungwoo stood up on shaky feet, and you offered him your hand to steady him. âIâm starting to think that human choice is a more powerful force than gravity.â
âReally?â
âOr at least your choices.â
You sighed, grabbing his face with two hands to look him in the eye. âJungwoo, you canât just say shit like that.â
âWhy not?â He asked, eyes carefully watching your expression.
âBecause you just called me a cosmic force and thatâs definitely the most romantic thing anybodyâs ever said to me.â
âWhatâs wrong with that?â
âBecause it makes me want to kiss you stupid on this public beach.â
His breaths trembled in the space between you. âThereâs nobody here.â
âYou make some good points.â You wrapped your arms around his neck, stopping before your lips met. âJungwoo.â
âHm?â His hands had settled on your waist, where they had been when you were dancing together.
âIs this okay? Can I kiss you?â
He swallowed, his eyes on yours as he hurriedly nodded. âYes.â
You didnât need to be told twice, slotting your mouths together finally. Jungwoo let out a hum of delight in the back of his throat, the curl at the corner of his lip apparent. His smile only continued to grow with each passing moment as you made good on your promise, bringing a hand around to cup his cheek.
When you dropped back onto flat feet again, he was standing there with a dazed, content smile on his face. His iridophores were no longer just glinting in the sun, they were fully pulsing with a soft, glowing light from under his skin, like a little heartbeat. You reached a hand up towards his cheek, and he stayed still as you traced over them in fascination. After a few moments, the glow faded away, and they were back to their normal reflective state.
âWhat was that?â You whispered breathlessly. âAre you okayââ
âIâm great,â he promised, taking one of your hands and kissing the back of it. âTheyâll do that sometimes. When Iâm really happy.â
âGod, okay,â you relaxed. âIt was like I really did have a fallen star in my hands.â
âIf you say something romantic back, does that mean I get to kiss you stupid?â
âThis is a concerning precedent Iâve set, isnât it?â
âItâd only be fair.â He pouted.
You looked around, finding the beach still vacant of other patrons. âAlright, alright.â

After getting dinner with your friends, you and Jungwoo declined any rides offered, taking the long way back to your apartment.
âThe guys were happy to hang out with you again,â you said brightly.
âYes, it was nice to see them all,â Jungwoo replied.
âI canât believe Hyuck asked you if you had tentacles though, honestly,â you shook your head. âHe needs to keep that between him and incognito mode.â
âI take it he wasnât being scientifically rigorous?â
You snorted, âNo.â
You looked up at the navy blue sky, dotted with so few stars.
âWhat does the night sky look like on Galaria?â You asked Jungwoo. âI didnât see it while we were there.â
âMany more stars,â he answered quietly. âI think because we donât have any permanent light fixtures on our surface.â
âAh, no light pollution. Must be nice.â
âIt is.â
There was a comfortable lull in conversation, cars passing by and the distant sounds of city life continuing around you.
âYou said once that you wouldnât be happy behind a desk now that you knew that aliens existed,â Jungwoo recalled. âSince youâve been to space and have come back home⌠Do you feel the same? Do you want to stay here?â
You tilted your head back and forth as you thought, still looking up at the stars. Finally, you answered, âWhile I was on Galaria, I needed to come home, to make sure everyone knew I was okay. And now that Iâve done that, I keep thinking about what we couldâve done on that trip if you hadnât been, you know, dying.â
His voice was guarded as he prompted, âSo youâŚâ
âSo if youâre asking me to come with you, Jungwoo, the answer is yes.â You looked over at him knowingly.
âOh!â His iridophores were glowing again as he wrapped his arms around you tightly, vibrating with energy. âThereâs so many places I can take you! Youâll love Irwon, and the lagoons in Til-Wyn, and I need to check that the Nightbringerâs Festival hasnât happened yet!â
âSounds like a date,â you grinned, hugging him back. âSeveral, actually.â
âAnd weâll come back to Earth whenever you want. Say the word, and weâll come right back for you to stay and see your loved ones for as long as you wish.â
âThank you.â You took his hands as he let you go, catching his eye to tell him sincerely, âAnd I want to learn Galarii, too. So we can actually communicate, without one of us wearing your transcoder. Even if I speak with a silly human accent because Iâm missing a flap or whatever.â
On top of the pulsing iridophores, you saw Jungwooâs eyes get misty, a tear spilling over on one cheek as he was absolutely beaming down at you.
âJungwoo are you crying?â You asked in disbelief, wiping at it with your thumb as another fell from his other eye.
âI think I am, yes,â he nodded, feeling at his damp undereyes.
âTears of joy, I hope?â You continued dabbing at his cheeks as you tried to comfort him through his apparently bewildering situation.
âDo humans do that?â
âSometimes, yeah.â
He smiled and nodded. âThen yes, that must be it.â
âOh God, come here.â You pulled him back into your arms. âSeriously, what am I going to do with you?â
He sniffled, then supplemented, âKeep me?â
You giggled and pressed a kiss to cheek, right on his glowing iridophores. âI guess so. Finders keepers, after all.â

Jack Howl
Jack was already going to try hard, now he's trying harder.
Vil actually has to stop Jack and tell him to breathe.
Jack is appreciative to have an upperclassman paired with him for the Culinary Crucible because he is sweating bullets at the idea of [Name] eating his food as a judge. What are the odds?
Will they like it? What will they say to him?
He wanted to do a good job for them.
Vil comments that his tail is wagging up a storm.
Jack denies it but Vil just laughs softly like the radiant upperclassman he is, knowing Jack's feelings for [Name].
Jack is trying so hard that he's almost messing up the recipe.
He is making macarons and Vil says they are hard to do.
He really wants [Name] to like them.
Jack always strives to be his best and this is no different.
He will impress [Name] with his awesome cooking skills!
Vil thinks that it's going to be quite some time before those two realize they like each other. All the same, though, he's sure they will be happy when they do.
Jack had been starring off into space for far too long and Vil wasn't having any of it. He had joined the Crucible to learn more about cooking, to see if it was something he could do while maintaining his beauty. It was hard to focus on such a task when he was watching this lovesick little puppy staring toward the judges' table where Idia Shroud, [Full Name], and Rook Hunt were sitting.
"Jack, I have had just about enough of this nonsense," Vil told him.
"Huh? What?"
That snapped Jack out of his daze. This caused him to almost mess up the task he had been mindlessly doing. It was a miracle that nothing had exploded in their face thus far with Jack's spacey mood as of late.
Vil sighed. Why were all of the first years like this?
"Jack, I need you to focus. Your behavior reflects on me as well, you know. As an upperclassman," Vil told him, pausing his own task of mixing for a moment to shoot Jack a pointed look.
"Ah, sorry," Jack offered before his eyes drifted back to [Name] again.
They were so pretty. And they were going to be judging his work? Then he had to do a good... No! A perfect job! He would impress them with his work and then they would say what a good job he had done. It was all worked out and planned for. Perfectly, if he said so himself andâ
"Jack."
"Huh? What? Sorry, Vil. Did you say something?"
"I said, you'd best focus on the task at hand... My word."
Jack could sense Vil's annoyance with the situation and he was frustrated with himself too. If he was distracted, he wouldn't be able to impress the judges. He had to focus. Shifting his stance, he got back to work making the macaron batter.
Vil continued his own preparation across from Jack, watching the younger boy every once in a while to ensure he was working and not daydreaming about [Name]. It was a good thing they were allowed to use magic in this event or they would surely fall behind on time.
[Vil & Jack - Cooking Montage]
As it would happen, they completed the macarons without any kind of disaster. Vil was thankful that it was all nearly over. Wasn't that a good thing? He would have this experience for his career and not get splattered in cake or lit on fire because of Jack's lovesickness-induced negligence. The things upperclassmen do for their underclassmen...
"Ready?" Vil asked Jack.
Jack nodded, ears perking up as they were about to present their creations to the judges. Vil smiled at that. He just couldn't stay upset with him. He knew Jack meant well by all of this.
"Let's do this!" Jack said, grinning.
Together, the actor and the first-year presented their culinary masterpieces to the judges. The array of judges had varying reactions. Rook stood up immediately and praised the simple staging of the food, ready to give 100 pts on sight for the beauty of it all. Vil shot him a look as he did this.
"I'd like to know how it tastes as well as how it looks, Rook," he chided.
The Pomefiore Vice Housewarden nodded as he tried both Vil's cake and Jack's macarons, eyes sparkling the entire time. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy the food with his animated reactions to it.
Next came Idia Shroud who attempted to eat macarons with a fork (one of the ghosts mumbled about this being a "crime"). He prodded the food with the utensil and ultimately only took a few bites, pushing the plate away after that as he attempted to avoid the eyes of both Vil and Jack alike.
Finally, there was [Name]. They tried a bite of the cake Vil had made and smiled at the taste of it, giving Vil a thumbs up. [Name] might have been the only person on the judging panel who knew what they were doing. They moved to the macarons, picking up one that was a bright shade of orange and taking a bite.
"Mm, this is good!" they said, smiling.
Their reaction was enough to make Jack's heart soar. He had done it, or he thought he had. Still, the scores could tell.
In the end...
A 10 from Rook (obviously, he was about to faint from the mere thought of eating the food almost as soon as he had seen it).
A 2 from Idia (now Vil was ready to throw down but he hid it).
And a 10 from [Name], melting Jack's heart in a single motion of holding up their score marker.
Vil sighed as he went to speak to the ghosts, followed by Rook Hunt for some reason but Jack didn't ask questions about it. Vice Housewarden stuff? Maybe? Probably. Jack had other things on his mind. Tail wagging behind him, much to his chagrin, he made his way over to [Name], calling out their name to get their attention.
"[Name]! Hey. I'm glad you liked... what I made," he told them, a bit sheepish about it all.
"I did! They were good!"
[Name]'s smile was the sunshine that came through the clouds after rain, that was what Jack was feeling when they praised his work.
"Uh, I have some extras if you want more?" Jack offered.
"Eh? Really? Sure!" they said, "Grim wanted to try some, or I think he would like to. That cat sure loves his food."
"Ha, sure!" Jack agreed, "Let me go get that for you."
"Thank you, Jack! I really appreciate it!" [Name] told him.
Jack's face reddened at the words. It was so simple but it got him.
He made his way back into the kitchen, tail wagging up a storm and face growing redder with every passing minute. It was painfully obvious what this was but Jack couldn't figure out why his heart was racing and he felt so... floaty?
Vil watched from a few feet away with the ghosts (and Rook). He sighed, he might have to step in if Jack remained unawares.
A minute later, Jack walked back to [Name] with some packaged macarons for them.
"Ah. Here you go, [Name]."
He handed them the package.
"Thanks again!" they said as they put the package of food in their bag, "I'll tell you what Grim's thoughts are too if you want."
They giggled as they spoke.
Jack only nodded, trying his best to calm down the heat on his face.
"Sure," he told them.
"Alright, it's a date!" [Name] said before heading off to their next period.
The wolf watched as they left the dining hall. What was he going to do? What would he say? Was it a date? Had he been on a date before? He tensed up at the thought that there was some protocol for this.
Who would he ask? Ace would laugh at him. Deuce wouldn't be able to help. Grim wouldn't be able to either. He didn't want to tell Ruggie and Leona... That left...
Sighing, he walked up to the table where the two Pomefiore students sat, taking an empty spot next to the dorm's housewarden.
"Hey. Vil... I'd like to, uh, ask you something," he said, trying not to seem as nervous as he was about asking an upperclassman something like this, "If it's not a bother."
Was he supposed to ask his upperclassmen about these feelings? They did say they would be there for their underclassmen... Right?
"Oh? And what might that be, Jack?" Vil hummed.

can i request a continuation of the jamie x kent!reader baby fever fic where they actually have a kid? the best friendâs sister trope is one of my favs and i literally eat up anything you writeđ¤
I had some down time today, so I wrote a little thing for this! It probably makes more sense if you read the other fics in this Kent! reader universe. Hereâs a list:
take your time while youâre mine
would it be enough if i never gave you peace
letâs fall in love for the night
Thanks for requesting!!
here in my arms
Roy is holding the tiniest baby heâs ever seen.Â
âThereâs no way I was ever that small,â Phoebe whispers from the couch next to him, and Roy agrees. Surely Phoebe was bigger than this little bundle heâs looking at.Â
âCute little lad, ainât he?â Jamie says from the other couch.Â
Royâs not sure what to say because on the one hand, he doesnât want to explicitly agree with something Jamieâs said but on the other hand⌠this kidâs fucking adorable.Â
âJamie,â calls your voice from upstairs.
âComing!â he replies. âYouâre good here, yeah Roy?â
Roy scoffs. Is he good here. Heâs Uncle fucking Roy. Heâs a pro.
âRight, Iâll take that as a yes then,â Jamie says. âFood should be here in an hour. If me ân the missus ainât awake by then, just let us be. We donât need food.â He gets halfway out the room before he stops and asks, âYouâre sure youâre good here?â
This time, Roy fully rolls his eyes. âFuck off, Tartt. Go get some sleep before my sister fucking murders you.â
Jamie says, âRight,â salutes to Phoebe, then turns on his heel to head upstairs to your bedroom. He shuts the door behind him and slips under the covers. The curtains are pulled, and itâs dark in the room despite the fact that itâs only the middle of the morning.
Youâre barely awake, but youâve tried your best to stay conscious until Jamie got there. You wiggle close to him and let him pull you into his arms.
âKidâs fucking great, huh?â he whispers into your hair.
âHm,â you agree.
âMum said sheâll be down in a coupla days to help out. Simonâs coming too. Is that alright?â
âDonât care,â you say. âI need sleep, babe. Kidâs seven days old and I am already wiped out. Howâm I supposed to do this for eighteen years?â
Jamieâs rubbing circles on your back, and the only thing keeping you from sleep is the thought that you might not be cut out to be a mother.
âYouâve got me,â he says. âYouâre not alone, babe, plus Phoebe can babysit in another three years.â
âI am not leaving George with a thirteen-year old,â you reply. âNothing against Phoebs, but I can barely leave him with my brother right now without worrying about him. I just wish Molly werenât so busy because I really, really need her right now.â
A tear leaks out of your eye onto Jamieâs shirt, but he doesnât care. âItâs alright, babe,â he says, âswear down. Mumâs a fuckinâ genius with babies. She raised me, didnât she? And I was a fucking handful.â
That just makes you cry even harder. âI want my mum, Jamie. Why did she have to go? I wish- I wish she and dad didnât leave us. Sheâs supposed to be here, supposed to help with George and hold my hand and tell me I was the exact same when I was a baby but no she and dad had to fuck off to Paris or something stupid when I was two and leave me and Molly with our cousins! Itâs shit. How can you just walk out on your own kids?â
Jamie kisses your forehead and says, âOi, look. Youâre already miles better at being a mum because youâre never going to walk out on George. And mum loves you, mostly because you make sure I eat real food, but sheâll stay as long as you need. Iâm off training for another week, besides. Donât have to go back just yet.â
You sniffle. âI shouldâve had him during the off season.â
âOh yeah, because we planned Georgeâs conception all proper-like,â Jamie retorts.
Youâre silent and for a moment he thinks youâve fallen asleep, except you shudder once, so he knows youâre still crying. Jamie holds you as tight as he can, at a loss for words. Heâs pretty sure youâre just tired with fucked-up hormones and that either Molly or his mum knows how to handle this, but for now heâs at a loss for a solution. Heâs trying to think of something to say when you beat him to it.
âDo you think his middle nameâs dumb?â
That is certainly not what he expected to hear. âFuck no,â he replies. âGeorge Kent Tartt? Kidâs going places with a name like that.â
You sigh. âHeâs gonna fucking hate us for that. Shit, we shouldâve done something normal.â
âHow the fuck is âKent,â not normal? Yâknow whatâs mental? The fact that me mum named me âJames Tartt.â Come on, babe. Jam Tart? Thatâs all I ever got called in primary school.â
âI did veto a lot of your choices,â you murmur.
Jamie shakes his head. âYou did, didnât you? Shame. Kid couldâve been named âApple Tartt.â Heâdâve fucking loved that.â
âFor sure,â you agree. Jamieâs glad to hear that your voice is returning to its normal, sleepy state so he tries to stay as still as possible. Sure enough, you emit a small snore less than a minute later. Jamie smiles to himself and closes his eyes. He thinks he can hear Roy saying something to George and/or Phoebe, so he lets himself drift off with you.

Riader!Joel Miler x Dark!fem!reader
Masterlist : Taglist
Summary: Joel attempts to raid the wrong house, and having the Joel Miller on his knees before awakens something in you... and in him.
Content and Warnings: DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT Dub con on Joel (Is it non con? idk. Idk how im supossed to tag this but it's no where near the violence of tww someone help), references to non con from Joel to other women, gun sucking, fem domme, dark!reader but Joel is also dark soooooo, subby Joel, dead bodies, Nick reference (if you read TWW you know lol), multiple orgasms, overstim, dumbification?
AN 1: This essentially came of two thoughts, me thinking hmmmm how to write raider!Joel in a new way? 2. I want to avenge Little One. Joel did her so dirty and is still doing her so dirty in the dark timeline addition, lowkey wanted someone to get revenge for her. Plus, subby Joel is always a win for Fen and Maura lol
AN 2: Shout outs to @ramblers-lets-get-ramblin and @toxicanonymity for talking me through this idea, esp Toxi for letting me use the gun blowjob bit lololol if you like that concept, I encourage everyone to check out toxi's raider joel Or maybe Jake's part in the chasing series
***********************
Whoever it was, they had chosen to raid the wrong fucking house.
Yes, you were a single woman. Yes you lived alone. But no, you were not helpless, far from it, actually. Whoever it was is lucky they had made it past the set of boobytraps thus far. Actually, it sounded like a few of them had been taken out as it was.
*
Joel watched in relief as the arrow went through Nickâs skull. Relief it wasnât him. He never liked Nick that much anyway, real creepy guy. In fact, he didnât like any of the men that this house had gotten either. It was exhausting, trying to lead a group of dumbasses and whatever the fuck was in here it wasnât worth it, so Joel attempted to make his exit. Thing was, leaving was proving just as hard as entering was. Whoever lived here didnât want anyone living to tell the tail. Stepping over the dead bodies of a few of his men, Joel had narrowly dodged more arrows, spikes, darts; the whole lot, until some secret fucking door opened up like a goddamn scooby-doo house and there you were, gun to his forhead.
âJoel fucking Miller, Iâll be damned.â
Joel narrowed his eyes. He didnât recognize you, but you knew him. That wasnât surprising, heâd gained a bit of a reputation from raiders, fireflies and regular people. âWho the hell are you?â
You tell him your name, first name at least, and make quick work of taking out the gun in his hand. âArmed with anything else, Miller?â He said he wasnât, but you knew that was a lie. âDonât believe that for a second.â
âThen why the hell did you ask?â His texan drawl was prominent, especially when he was worked up.
âMore fun to mess with you.â Keeping the gun pressed up to his temple, you press your body against his in turn as you pat him down for more weapons. It didnât hurt that he was handsome.
âJESUS!â Joel jumped as you grabbed at his ass. âWatch your fucking hands.â
You canât help but giggle; he thinks he's in charge. âYou could be hiding weapons anywhere-â He tenses as you slip your hand between his buttcheeks as much as his jeans allow. â-Canât be too careful.â
Joel was a brutal man, you heard stories of his rage and carelessness for human life, including women. Thereâd been many such stories of him forcing himself on women, kidnapping and trafficking⌠maybe he needed a taste of his own medicine? You take your time on his top half, feeling up every muscle, every bit of pudge, every dip on his broad body. Then, onto the lower. Without hindrance, you grope at his crotch and are very impressed by the size of him; and amused by the way heâs already semi-hard. Men are so easy, itâs funny sometimes.Â
âThis make you excited, Miller? Or does it scare you to be at a womanâs mercy for once? Maybe a little bit of both?âÂ
Joel didnât look at you, lips pursed in a hard line.
You continue, moving the gun to his pants as you kneel before him to check lower. âI bet this is more your speed isnât it? Having a pretty woman on her knees?â
The scoff above you doesnât go unnoticed. âMighty full of ourselves, arenât we?â
After taking a knife and a gun that were strapped to his ankle, you stand up, satisfied with your work and the ever-growing bulge in his pants. âI own a mirror, Miller. I know what I got going on.â Degrading wonât work on you. With a nudge, you press him towards your room.Â
âYuh gonna kill me?â There was no fear in his voice when he asked. This was a man prepared for death whenever it came.
âWeâll see. Gonna have a little fun with you first.â
*
Having Joel Miller on his knees for you was a goddamn treat. He looked so good like this, so submissive even if his bratty little face wanted to put on a show.Â
âItâs natural, you know.â With a glance down, you let him know that you are referencing his half-hard cock. âThe adrenaline.â You squat in front of him. âHow many girl came when you forced yourself on them? How many felt their bodies betray them? Did you laugh at them for getting wet?â
âI didnât-â
âItâs humiliating, isnât it?â Your gun was still out, knowing physically he could probably overpower you still. You werenât weak by any means, but you also were aware he had far more upper body strength, muscles bulging through the seem of his shirt sleeves. The cool end of the gun prodded at his face as he tried to keep calm; the bob of his adam's apple and subtle rise of his chest was giving away his nerves. It was exhilarating, having a man that many feared, the cause of death of so many men, someone of damn-near legendary status and his knees for you⌠You couldnât help the reaction the thrill had in pooling in your stomach. It was natural, wasnât it? Thatâs what you told Joel.Â
Using the gun, you move his face around a bit to really take in his features. Strong nose, curly salt and pepper hair, soft brown eyes and lips you just really wanted to make whimper.
âYour quite handsome, you know that?â
An ironic chuckle. âI have a mirror too, sweetheart.â
You canât help smiling at him as you straighten back up. âTake off your shirt.â
He rolled his eyes but did as he was told.
âObedient thing, arenât you? Bet I could train you, bet thatâs what you need, isnât it?â You slip your hand in your pants, feeling up your own wet cunt as the thrill of power elevates things. âTired of having to decide, having to leadâŚâ Maybe the adrenaline was getting to you, but you suddenly wish you had a dick to make him suck. You donât, so you settle for the next best thing. You tap his lips witht he barrel of the gun. âOpen.â
Joel hesitates, a slight spark of fear in his pretty eyes as he keeps his lips tightly closed, and that just won't do. You slap his cheek with the gun, and as grunts in pain the seal of his lips pops open.
âAh-mphâ His cry of pain was quickly muffled by the gun being shoved in his mouth.Â
âSuck on it, cowboy. Act like you fucking enjoy it.â
You donât think he needs to act. Joel sucks on your gun like he would a dick and you furiously finger yourself to his rhythm. As he closes his eyes, you can hear a low groan emitting from his throat and his hands twitching at his side.Â
âTouch yourself, go ahead.â
He didnât need to be told twice, his right hand flying to the seam of his pants and palming at his full erection.
âGood boy, good fucking boyâ You praise. âJust an obedient little dog pretending to be a lone wolf. Is that it? You just want someone to tell you what to do, huh?â You release the gun from his mouth and canât help but grin as his lips chase it.
âY-yes.â Joel admits, face strained in tension as he kept touching himself. Must hurt, being constrained like that.
âTake it out. Eyes on me.â You guide his face to look up at you with the tip of your gun. âLook in my eyes as you do it.â
As he released himself, Joel did indeed look up at you; he looked up at you as if you made the stars in the sky.Â
Once his cock was out, all 9 or so inches, you take off your sleep shorts and straddle over him but not yet putting it in. âI donât think I need this gun anymore⌠but I think you like it.â When you sink down on him, gun pressed to his ribs as a firm reminder of who was in charge, you hold your breath in order to hear the simple whimpers and guttural groans that Joel tried so hard to hide.
âThis is where you belong, isnât it?â You goad him, eliciting a quiet âyesâ from his lips. âUnder me, belong to me.â
You are speared on him, his dick spreading you open and stretching you unlike anything you had felt before and you loved it. Every chance you had, you felt his muscles, reveling in the fact such a physically strong man was so mental weak for you and only you.
âCan I cum? Please?â Joel begged for you, pleaded ever, lips quivering even as you kissed him.
âAlmost there, baby, almost- mmmm- almost there. You can cum after me, okay?â
Joel nodded quick, tiny nods and hesitantly moved a hand to your hips. He looked up at you bouncing on his cock for permission, and when you nod back he goes to thumb at your clit.Â
âOH GOD!â You shout, breathless, slick all over your thighs and his pants, his touch sending you over the edge. You cum hard, walls pulsing all around him and he doesnât ask again before spilling his seed inside you, filling you to the brim.
Your body relaxes, but then Joel throws you to the ground causing you to drop your gun and for a moment you thought he bested you, got you distracted; until he dove right into your cunt with no regard for the lost gun. He didnât care about beating you, he cared about tasting you. As he desperately licked his cum out of your dripping hole, you tugging at his curls, Joel humped the floor as if he hadnât just gotten released. You pull him close, riding out another orgasm on his face. When you cum a third time, you have to push him back, the overstimulation from the desperate manâs tongue, lips and beard being too much. When you do, he looks up at you with wide eyes as if he had done something wrong, but you pull up and into a kiss before laying him down on the floor to kiss him some more.
âNot sure if I wanna let go of you, cowboyâŚâ You tease, playing with his hair but keeping him firmly pressed to the ground. âMight have to keep you around, but my little guard dog, how about that?â
Joelâs eyes were glossy, his face so fucked out you werenât sure he was fully cognizant. âBaby boy too tired to speak? Thatâs okay, Iâll take care of you too. You be the arms; Iâll be the brains. You wonât have to have a single thought outside me again, okay?â

"Where are you taking me?"Â
Aziraphale asked Crowley as the demon gently pushed him out of the cottage toward the beach.
Crowley shook his head and replied, "You'll know when we get there, Angel."
"So you're asking me to trust you?"
"I thought we already did?"
Aziraphale leaned against him and said softly, "I do. So where are we going?"
Crowley chuckled and replied, "Nice try. But would you like me to explain the concept of surprise?"
"All right, all right, I surrender. Do with me what you will."
Crowley replied in a playful tone, "You shouldn't say that to a demon, you know?"Â
Then, placing his hands on the angel's shoulders, he continued: "Mind if I blindfold you?"
Aziraphale raised his eyebrows exaggeratedly and replied, "Hm... kinky..."
"Angel..."
Aziraphale laughed, then without hesitation, grabbed the blindfold Crowley was holding and blindfolded himself. Almost immediately, he felt the gentle pressure of Crowley's lips on his, and as he pulled away, the demon said softly, "Thank you for your trust. "
Aziraphale fumbled for one of Crowley's hands, and when he managed to catch it, brought it to his lips before saying softly, "No need to thank me for something that's yours to have, my dear."
He heard Crowley clear his throat and then the demon said softly, "Shall we?"
Aziraphale nodded and Crowley took his hands to guide him, walking backwards in front of the angel.
They walked along the beach, the warm sand of which Aziraphale could feel under his feet, then stopped after a few moments.
"Here we are."
Crowley released Aziraphale's hands, stood behind him and untied the blindfold.
Aziraphale blinked a little before he realized where they were, and the first thing he said was, "You brought me here for a picnic? "
They had arrived at a secluded cove, not far from the cottage and set back from the rest of the beach. A blanket was spread out at the base of a palm tree with a picnic basket resting on it, two stemmed glasses leaning against an ice bucket filled with ice and a bottle of champagne.
Crowley chuckled, "You have a knack for kicking open doors, Angel."
Aziraphale turned to him and asked in surprise: "All this for me?"
Crowley smiled affectionately, grabbed Aziraphale's hands, and led him to sit on the blanket. Then, as he began to unpack their food, he explained, "All for us. Muriel's out hiking all day, so I thought we'd take the opportunity to do something special, just for us. Sort of like the Ritz on the beach. Aren't you pleased?"
Aziraphale nodded enthusiastically.
"On the contrary, I'm absolutely thrilled that you did this for me, for us."
Aziraphale leaned forward and planted a tender kiss on Crowley's lips to back up his words.
Crowley poured the champagne and they toasted, clinking glasses.
The demon said sweetly, "To us."
Aziraphale replied with a gentle smile, "To us."
Then they drank and ate side by side, talking about anything and everything, as they had on many occasions at the Ritz.
When they finished eating, Aziraphale leaned back against the trunk of the palm tree and Crowley naturally sat against him, his back against Aziraphale's chest. The angel wrapped his arms around him and kissed him gently on the neck before whispering, "Thank you."
Crowley replied softly: "You're welcome, Angel. I'm glad you like it."Â
Aziraphale murmured against his skin, "When we're together, whatever we do together, it's more than appreciated."
Crowley hummed before resting his head on Aziraphale's shoulder.Â
They stayed like that for a long time, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, the breathtaking view of the endless ocean, and most of all, each other's company.
They'd both seen their fair share of magnificent sights, breathtaking landscapes, but once again, everything was different, more beautiful, more precious when shared with the person you loved and, most importantly, were free to love.
"There's only one thing missing."
"What, Angel?"
"Music."
"Oh, that's easy."
Crowley raised his hand and said softly, "Let there be music."
Then he turned his head back, parted his lips to invite the Angel to press his lips to his, and as they touched and their breaths mingled, a song floated in the air.
"That certain night
The night we met
There was magic in the air"
Yes, it was undeniable.
Wherever they were, there would always be magic in the air.
The magic of their love.

Dancae
This contains some NSFW be warned.
Vidyadhara are infertile,Always have been. However Vidyadhara Dan heng is an exception.
âCaelus I-I donât know how this is possible,Itâs gotta be a mistake!â Caelus got up trying to calm his boyfriend. âDan heng,Please try to calm down it-â
âHow do I calm down?! Iâm pregnant Vidyadhara are infertile but somehow Iâm pregnant!â Caelus looked a Dan heng with a pitiful look on his face. He wanted to calm him down and reassure him that heâd take responsibility and take care of him and there baby,But the Vidyadhara just paced around the archives mumbling to himself.
âDan heng.â Caelus walked over to him placing a hand on his face and holding his hand.
âI love you,I love our baby, Yes itâs biologically impossible that youâre pregnant but I promise I will help you through this. I love you both and weâll figure this out together okay?â
It was usually Dan heng the calm and collected one but right now Caelus had to be that for him.
âYou promise?â Dan heng had tears beginning to well up in his eyes.
âHaha,Of course,Where gonna be parents!â
The two smiled at each other as Caelus pulled the other into a kiss,Smiling with tears still flowing. âWe should tell the rest of the express that thereâs going to be another member.â Dan heng smiled âNot right now Iâm kind of tired.â Caelus nodded. âOkay you get some rest then we announce it.â
7 and a half months later
âCaelus did you grab me something to eat from penacony?â The Vidyadhara rested a hand on the large baby bump,Twins as bailu had said. âI grabbed those donuts you like!â Dan heng face lit up slowly sitting up on the couch of the parlour car reaching out for the bag of donutâs. âThank you,The twins say thank you too.â
Caelus laughed âyour welcome you three.â
Dan heng smiled,It would be an unusual sight but the pregnancy made Dan heng more expressive.
âI heard the next destination is the luofu, hopefully we arrive before they do.â Caelus joked rubbing gentle circles on Dan hengâs belly. âMhm,there definitely ready soon,I started feeling those Braxton hicks Natasha told me about.â Caelus froze staring at Dan heng. âWhat,Already? Jeez you two are getting impatient huh?â
âIâm almost eight months itâs not a big suprise.â Caelus smiled laying his head on the others chest and gently rubbing the bump. âJust wait untill where at the Luofu,Then you two can be born okay?â
The two hadent even realized that march was standing to the side,Snapping photos of the couple. âUgh get a room you too!â
The Vidyadhara glared at march with such anger it could pierce a brick. âThis is what happened when we got a room.âMarch froze looking at Caelus who turned a bright red.
âGood point but,uh,Never mind.â The Vidyadhara crossed his arms and looked back at Caelus. âLetâs take this to our room then.â Only caelus heard what he whispered in his ear after.
âWe can recreate the twins conception if you want~â
Caelus wasted no time helping his heavily pregnant boyfriend off the couch and helping him to there room, Leaving small donut crumbs as they walked.
NSFW
âAh,Ha,Faster!â The Vidyadhara lay on his back moaning in pure pleasure with Caelus slowly thrusting inside of his hole. âI donât want to hurt you, Or the babyâs.â
Dan heng sighed. âWhere fine, Iâll tell you if itâs too much okay? Please fasTER AH!â The dragon screamed in pure blissful pleasure as the other slammed into him with full force. âGod youâre so tight.â
Dan heng breathes heavily. âYou think I wouldnât be with the amount of, Hngh, times that you,Ha,Fucked me?â Caelus let out a small chuckle caressing Dan hengâs face with one, hand holding his hand with the other. âMaybe I need to help losen you up so the babyâs wonât get stuck.â âJust shut up and fuck me dammit.â
Caelus continued to thrust in and out in a gentle but fast motion, Every moan of his name from their lover was like a reward.
âCaelus Iâm cumming,GAH.â
Caelus slammed into him once more as the Vidyadhara came almost in sync with Caelus. âGods I love you.â Dan heng muffled out. Caelus smiled. âI love you too.â
Later that night
Dan heng woke up with some light cramps in his abdomen,He brushed it off as Braxton hicks and tried to go to sleep once more. However he woke up again this time the pain was near unbearable. âCaelus,CAELUS!â The others eyes slowly fluttered open before noticing the panicked and worried eyes of Dan heng. âHey Dan heng are you okay? Is something wrong with the twins?â Dan heng said nothing just lightly rubbing the bump.
âDan heng?â Caelus rubbed his back before resting his hand on his shoulder. âCaelus I think itâs time,I think Iâm in labour. The others face went pale and wide eyed. âW-What?! Youâre not due for another eight or ten weeks!â Caelus yelled out in a panic. âI know but I think that you went a little too rough on me.â Caelus froze in fear staring at Dan heng. âNo,No itâs okay theyâre not too early theyâll be alright if theyâre born this early.â
Caelus sighed looking down at the others enlarged abdomen. âWhere supposed to be a the Luofu for this,I donât know how to deliver a baby let alone two!â Dan heng held Caelus hand tight taking the other and placing it on his belly. âI know but we have no choice,There not coming out yet we still a few hours or so till I have to push so we still might make it,If not I know some basic stuff I think thereâs a book in the archives that talks about it you can use.â
Caelus smiled,All be it a nervous one. âO-Okay,what do we do in the meantime?â Dan heng rested his head on his chest. âI want to try and sleep a bit longer,Iâll let you know what else when I wake up.â Caelus smiled,His babyâs,There babies are arriving soon. If all goes well then this time tomorrow they be holding there twins in there arms for the first time. Caelus smiled seeing the Vidyadhara silently napping on his chest,Placing a gentle hand on the bump. âWeâll get to meet soon little ones.â
Twelve system hours later
âDan heng I know it hurts and youâre tired but you need to keep pushing!â The Vidyadhara struggled gripping onto Caelus shoulders harder with every push.
Caelus kissed his forehead and brushed his hair away from his face. âYouâre doing so amazing,You already had our son,Now you need to keep pushing so he can be back with his sibling.â Caelus smiled holding Dan hengs face in his hands. âI wish we were at the Luofu,I really wanted the epidural.â Dan heng groaned as another contraction hit him. Caelus quickly cupping his head over the babyâs head as it slowly emerged from the others hole. âSo close one big push and I think I can help guide the shoulders out!â
Dan heng huffed breathless, gripping onto the otherâs shoulders wincing at the feeling of the babyâs shoulders slowly wedging free with hell from Caelus. Then suddenly the pain was gone,Leaving only a dull ache,The world seemed silent for a second till the other raised his hands up holding another small baby in his arms. âItâs a girl.â
Caelus smiled with tears mixed with sweat covered his face,Though nothing compares to Dan heng right now.
Caelus swiftly and careful cleaned the two up cleaning off the two babyâs and carefully cutting the cords and wrapping them I warm blankets before handing one to Dan heng.
âSheâs cute.â Dan heng remarked.
âAre you kidding sheâs adorable!â
Dan heng let out a small chuckle.
âYeah, heâs adorable too.â He remarked reaching a hand over to the little boy in Caelus arms. Caelus laid his head on the others shoulder. âWeâll be at the Luofu in an hour,Weâll get all three of you check out then.â Caelus smiled passing the boy over to Dan heng. âGood idea,I feel as fine as I could be after giving birth,But itâs best to make sure.â He slowly undid his shirt letting the twins have easy access to feed.
âYou were amazing,Gods I love you.â Dan heng smiled.
âYou gave me two things I never thought I could have,Thank you.â
Caelus smiled. âYouâre welcome?â
âHm,What should we name them?â
Dan heng replied almost immediately
âDan sho and Dan Liu.â

tlou fanfic ao3 summary: You swore you would avenge her. Karma. What goes around, comes around. Before the story starts, you already cut through the hunters that had actually killed your sister and almost killed you. But now, you were on the hunt for a pair of brothers who needed to pay. word count: 1.7k warnings/tags: fem!reader, reader is nearly an OFC, but Iâll try to keep it as vague as possible (reader is in her late 20s/early 30s), dog imagery/inferences (shocking I know), based in a slightly altered game timeline, (TW) lots of blood imagery, violence, death, good olâ revenge, allusions to abuse/torture, manipulation, trauma, physical scars, panic attacks, NO USE OF Y/N
a/n: Might write more for this?? Dunno yet. This isnât necessarily going to be a Joel x fem!reader fanfic since well, your endgame is killing him (or close to it). Let me know if any of you would actually like me to continue this. This is kind-of a proof of concept, I guess. I thought the og plan for Abby was super gut-wrenching. So basically this is playing off that concept except earlier in the story, maybe a couple months after Ellie and Joel arrive in Jackson.
Apologies if this isnât super well written. Iâm not really a writer, but Iâm trying to get better at it lol.

Outside Boston, Massachusetts | 2019
The woman in front of you begged for a scrap of mercy. Spit flew out of her mouth as her screams scrawled into your eardrums. A bandana hung from her neck, soggy and wet seemingly from once being used as a gag.
âPlease, Iâll do anything! I wonât tell anyone, we wonât tell anyone! Just let us go! Please, I willââ
A devastating crack rang in the still, stuffy air for a few moments.
You choked on your breath, caught off guard by the sudden noise. Her cries ceased, only to leave a dead silence hanging on every breath of air you took. It was suffocating. Heavy and thick, almost as if you forced yourself to swallow each gasp of air to keep it from escaping out of your throat.
Her hair was matted. Brown, once shimmering, coils of hair knotted and tangled into an undistinguishable disarray concealing her face.
A moment prior, she had mirrored yourself. Kneeled and hunched on the spotted tile floor. Bound by a makeshift rope, her hands were covered in splatters of blood and sweat. Her attention frantically searched the bleak room before locking onto your eyes. Even in the darkened lighting, her eyes were distinct. Filled to the brim with complete, unadulterated terror.
The glint in a person's eye just before their internal clock is shattered flickered into view as she stared.
Her motionless body now laid on its side on the floor. A constant shake that enveloped her entire body was absent.
Eyes devoid of any notion of life.
Just as you peered down, a mixture of blood and brain matter inched its way beneath where you knelt and soaked the knees of your jeans. Every thread held onto what was once the womanâs lifeline, her experiences, her emotions, her triumphs, her resounding failures. All to be left to the heap on the floor and the pooling blood soaking the knees of your jeans.
It was uncomfortable. Everything in the room felt hollow. You couldnât help but focus on the unbearable, warm wetness of your pants. Your skin crawled. You needed the sensation to stop.
It didnât matter anymore what was being said. It didnât matter that you could barely see through the blockade of tears obscuring your vision. It didnât matter that all parts of you were being tugged at. It didn't matter how it was demanded for you to look into the eyes of your captures. Everything glazed over. All of the things you looked at carried a translucent, dark wash overtop. Your intense focus barred you from making out the fuzzy details in the gloomily lit room. Knives that had once made you sear with pain felt like a nail being dragged against your skin. None of it mattered.
You could only pay attention to your jeans.
The woman, your sister, was gone, and you were up for slaughter.
âââ
Wyoming | May 2034
Surviving by the skin of your teeth had taken a toll on you.Â
Day in â day out, each passing minute felt like white, hot, sweltering pain. An ever-present rumble persisted in your mind. Across your back, each movement, tight and stiff, felt like a fucked-up mnemonic omen to your past. Reminders were strung across the pavement, painted along cracked walls, hidden in the bleak corners of your sight. Closing your eyes never helped. The black void moved. It writhed into crude shapes resembling her. Shadows resembled the lifeless bodies that seemed to cling to you, no matter where you went.
Living left you battered and bruised. At the turn of your adolescence, being used as bait was what kept you fed. Supplied a cot to sleep on. Hunters dangled rations above your head on the condition you performed your 'trick' accordingly. Youâd set off, hooked onto a leash of watchful eyes, feigning injury to lure unsuspecting do-gooders into a trap. A trap that left their corpses sizzling in a horrific bonfire and their belongings stacked on tables for auction. Cry for help as a ploy for the attack, get rewarded. If you escaped, you'd be stripped of essentials. You were a kid. Surviving on your own never posed as a viable option. It was hard to admit to yourself, but youâd be dead the moment you were let out of your cage. Other members drilled that fact into you. You knew even without their teeth snapping in your ears. The âHuntsmanâ provided an alternative far from feeling comfortable, but you could grin your teeth and bear it. Scars that sizzled along your back would be returned in due time. You laid in wait.
Into your adulthood and new-found 'freedom', surviving on your own was far more manageable. You were capable. Knowing how to defend yourself and manipulate those around you made being alone an easier plate to consume.
Long gone were the days of innocence and naivety. The cracks of bone and the tear of flesh had become your normal. You reeked of it.
The stench lingered off of you. A bloodthirsty curtain hung heavy over your eyes, dowsing all of the light they once harbored. Your experiences shaped you entirely, and not in a good way.
You were angry. Enraged. Frenzied.Â
A thick, heavy sheen of viscera seeped into every single waking moment and each minuscule second of your unconscious mind. You couldnât escape it, even if you tried.
You took it in stride; no other choice was thrown to you.
Every ounce of fury ached in your bones. You used it in all facets of your existence.Â
You were living in a premonition. A desire. A need.
And you â
You would stop at nothing until that obligation became your reality.
-
Infected were commonplace. Nothing but a measly obstacle in your cyclic routines.
At first, you had been so hesitant to kill them. What if they could feel? What if they were still human? Sometimes, you thought you heard runners retching, fighting out the word 'stop', while devouring their kills. Avoiding them at all costs was a priority. You couldnât bear the weight of the guilt if those thoughts were the truth.
Now, you had no choice.
Killing was made practical. Methodical. You had a way of going about it.
Thinking about the act too strenuously made you feel sick. Torture and the drawn-out âsatisfactionâ of draining something of life wasnât a pastime you enjoyed. Blood building around the eyes, it dripping from the mouth, made it too real. Death was delivered as swiftly as you could within the circumstances you were in. Youâd only go the mile if it was something you deemed necessary. Or deserved, rather.
It boiled down to a quick draw of your revolver or a sweeping heave of a machete, and foes were left as nothing but flesh that oozed. They were puppets pulled on fungal strings for an organism that barely kept them alive. An infection pawning creatures as a means for motion and viability. Or, they were empty husks of people, lost too deep in the compensation for being ruthless and lusting for blood.
If anything, you were putting them out of their misery, right?
You convinced yourself to believe that.
Walking along barren, cracked roads had become a dull environment quickly. Dilapidated storefronts, battered farmhouses, and run-down neighborhoods muddled into a blur of lush greenery and rotted wood. It was calming, in a twisted way. Civilization plummeting into a remnant of what it once was felt fitting, warranted, from what little you remembered. Bricks that had been chipped away by the elements littered the ground. Structures were left as ruined time-capsules of an easier way of life. A life you didn't know long enough to stow away attachments to. A bygone era. Much of their worn, cement bones were picked clean, unlucky for you.
A few stragglers inside an abandoned home you were rummaging through became a welcome change of pace. Heart racing in your ears, the adrenaline gave you a high. Youâd press yourself against a wall, letting your hearing acclimate to the subtlety of a pin drop. Youâd ambush. Quick on your feet, youâd rush behind a clicker, driving your pocket knife deep into its throat. It would choke out. Gurgling and hissing for a few moments, it would give a sad attempt at clawing its way out of your grip. Promptly, it would fall limp, and youâd allow it to crumple to the floor.Â
Rinse and repeat.Â
In a jam, youâd slide over tables and counters to create distance, trusty revolver in hand. A shotgun holstered on the side of your backpack was useful if you were cornered. Youâd had countless close calls, but youâd always managed to slip past. Injuries such as a broken arm or snapped ankle wouldnât stop you regardless.
Beams providing support to a nearly collapsed roof sometimes fell from their deteriorating posts; the crash stealing your breath away. You felt rickety floorboards beneath you, then suddenly they were gone. It's dark.
Sheâs screaming.
Sheâs crying out your name. She canât stop saying it. You canât breathe. Youâre taking in breaths; why canât you breathe? What happened? She wonât stop shouting your name. You canât feel your hands anymore. Whatâs happening? Your arms are numb. You keep blinking, but you canât stop seeing her. You weren't here a second ago, right? Why wonât you answer her? Sheâs gagging on her tears. On the floor now. Sheâs relentlessly calling for you. Say something. Ears are buzzing. Sheâs coughing up blood. Canât breathe. Sheâs crumbled on the floor. Legs are cold.Â
She isnât yelling for you anymore.Â
Youâre screaming.
You couldn't take it anymore. You were so close.
Nothing could stop you now. There is only so much an ability to fight could do you good for. Youâd have to be smart and play your cards right.
Because you knew damn well that waltzing in with a loaded gun and a seemingly empty threat would get you nowhere.Â
It didnât matter how long itâd take. You were more than ready to play the long game.
Fuck, you'd been playing the long game. This resolution had been brewing in your mind for nearly fifteen years.
This was personal. You would make it personal.Â
After all was said and done, you couldnât give a shit. But until then, you needed to act the part and end this perpetual nightmare.
And kill Tommy and Joel Miller.
Or, die trying.

Gliff by Ali Smith
this book really fits the mood of my 2025 so far: creepingly dystopian, but maintaining some hope, some avenues of joy and resistance. also, there's a horse, and i was once a Horse Girl, so that had deep appeal.
i loved Gliff top to bottom, but i want to call out the pacing first of all because it worked especially well for me. the way the story and the world unfolds, through the perception of a sheltered kidâand periodically, their future selfâreally captured the sensation i have right now, of continually learning new and increasingly worse information about how my country and others are actually being run, and where they're going. the innocence of Bri and their sister Rose, and how untouched they are by the literal and figurative brainwashing of technology, creates an opportunity to slowly explore more and more dystopian ideas and experiences that are already happening to other people around them. it's like watching a mystery unfold, and then getting smacked by understanding when Bri's future self interjects; i went on a roller coaster of fear for Bri and Rose, delight at their small and spirited acts of defiance, and the dread/hope mix that comes from knowing where a character ends up.
all of the side characters are exciting as well, real and specific in their personhoods, including the titular horse Gliff. that realism, all the weird idiosyncrasies of actual people, contrasts so effectively with the mundane horror of the world around them and with the very large messages the story is engaging with about knowledge, and community, and liberation, and kindness. about how easy it is to become a part of a terrible machine, and also that there's still hope to break out of it and create disruption on your way. that last part is a hard concept sometimesâthat even a person who has been molded to do awful things, for whom cruelty has become normal, can reach a tipping point or find a way out, and what they do next is as important to consider as what they did before. it's a theme that's coming up for me across my media consumption, and it's one i am really trying to integrate into my thinking about the real world.
that was a little bit of a ramble, but this book has me thinking big thoughts! overall i really, really enjoyed it, and i'll be thinking about it for a long time.
the deets
how i read it: an egalley from NetGalley, unsurprisingly!
try this if you: love a horse as a metaphor, still have the stomach to read great dystopian fiction even though we're living in one, or if you watched Tomes & Talismans during library class in school and are still haunted by it
some lines i really liked:
She always missed out the g in conglomerate. I said she did this because she didn't know how to say it, she said it was because she was taking some of a conlomerate's power away from it by mis-saying it.
---
How do you get your education then? he said. We choose to be educated by things bigger than something so small it can be worn on a human wrist, I said. What other way is there? he said. I gestured with both my arms to everything around us. I don't get it, he said. You know, I said. Being here. In person. He looked thoughtful, then superior. I suppose it's not everybody that can afford an educator, he said. Then he told us some of the things his educator could do other than just educate. Heart rate, bloods, steps, nutritional breakdown of what you're eating, internet everything, camera, phone. Transform voice to text. Instantaneous translation but only forty languages (next model up more expensive does one hundred and thirty). Stream anything streamable. Tell the time.
---
What do we need passports for? she said. So we can travel to other countries and prove we're us, I said. Yeah but a passport doesn't prove we're us, she said. We prove a passport's it. We just are us. We're us right now and we don't have any passports to prove we're us. Not having a passport doesn't mean we, what, disappear.
---
A tyrant runs a country. He does this via a lot of other people doing this tyrant's work for him. They do it partly because they think he'll kill them or their families of they don't, and partly because it makes them feel powerful too. One of the things you're not allowed to say in this country is that the tyrant is a tyrant. Anyway the tyrant wakes up one morning to find there's this person out there who is going round telling the populace the tyrant's a tyrant and encouraging them to say so out loud to each other. So the tyrant has the person followed, then attacked, then beaten up and stripped of all their money. Then he has the person arrested, put in prison and occasionally tortured, and starved, and kept alone in the cold. But the person doesn't seem broken by any of it.
pub date: YESTERDAY (2/4/25)! go forth and get it! i really want to own a copy!

Are you going to continue âbeloved, onceâ or any of your other fics? đ Sorry if this question might be annoying
no need to say sorry! i actually have... a lot of people in my asks over the years about this exact same thing so i'll answer everyone here! i'm definitely continuing "beloved, once" and all my other fics - i've actually finished the next chapter for them! just cleaning up and editing it, which might take some time since i'm so busy T.T
to help with the wait, i'll attach a little tiny excerpt from "beloved, once" from the next chapter!
Their meal was given to the backdrop of crying infants - the soup was both bland and lukewarm, with the taste of dust filling her mouth. Still, it was the first time she had eaten in hours, and so Miho quickly dug in without another word. Itachi, unsurprisingly, was unable to eat at all. As always, Sasuke was unmatched when it came to his fussing. âShh, itâs okay,â Itachi said quietly. The embers of his chakra grew brighter as he looked over Sasukeâs scrunched up face. A charming display, Miho acknowledged dully, as she took another spoonful of broth. Perhaps there was an appeal in seeing Itachi take care of his younger sibling. A lifetime ago, she supposed her chest would have tightened at the sight. Her heart had always ached for Itachiâs careful gestures. She had once fixated on his furrowed eyebrows, on the bright sparks of his chakra, on the soft turn of his lips. They had been such gentle displays of love. And, long ago, she had once believed that if he gave it so freely to Sasuke, then surely that had to mean he felt the same towards her - She looked down at the food in her hands. (Despite its brief appearance, it seemed the Kyuubi and its corrosive chakra were enough to drag out memories she no longer needed.) Itâll be a long week, she decided, her fingers fiddling with a wooden spoon. A bitter aftertaste was left to linger on her tongue. She continued to eat in silence and swiftly finished the rest of her food. By the time she swallowed her last bite, Sasuke had already long since begun his ritual of breaking the eardrums of those around him. She covered her ears with chakra in a poor attempt to block out the noise. For once, she almost missed the days when Sasuke knew how to weaponize the art of complaining. Knowledge of the future (and subsequently, of her brotherâs eventual ability to keep his mouth shut) didnât stop her from eyeing the spoon in her hands. While her stolen kunai was a lost cause, couldnât this wooden utensil work just as well? What a tempting thought. âGive him to me,â she said instead. As always, the concept of spilling family blood was only appealing if she ignored how that would make her just like Itachi. (But surely stuffing Sasukeâs face with a towel couldnât hurt...)

My Light~ Embry Call fanfic
Chapter 14- Cullen Home
Sitting in the front living room, Emily was stationed on the couch for a few days. Everyone but Carlisle were hunting as he just arrived from his shift at the hospital. Emily appreciated everyone trying to continue doing their normal routine to make this seem a little easier on her.
You were messing around with your guitar. Carlisle caught a bit of the last song ~Yaâaburnee by Halsey~ and he knew he needed to talk to you already. You were barely hanging on even if you wouldnât admit it.
He comes to sit by you while you put the guitar away. He stood and deposited the instrument across the room on a table for safe keeping. Again, an action you appreciated. He came back and gathered you close. You snuggled into his side like you have done for as long as you can remember and lay your head on his chest. He has successfully avoided the Embry topic for months, it wasnât too hard considering the other circumstance. He just had to say it.
âI got a call today.â Emily looks to her dad who continues to explain. âIâm not choosing sides or anything but thereâs a great part of the story you donât know. Weâre not sure if itâs hurting you or not. Embry never wanted to break up with you. You need to hear him out as they have asked to speak on the treaty line.â Anger coursed through you as you couldnât help but feel betrayed by your father even speaking his name, but the unknown concept of the treaty line overtook the anger. You wanted to know what everyone was hinting to. And why would you be hurting worse? It wasnât adding up, and your only hope that it wasnât some stupid vampire thing.
âWhat are you talking about dad?â
âItâs not for me to explain. I asked them to come here but they wanted something more neutral. Itâs a short walk and Iâll carry you sweetheart so you donât hurt. If you need to sit your mom is going to likely bring a blanket, you know her-always prepared.â You finally laughed and curiosity was eating you alive. But youâre afraid or scratch that, terrified. Youâre terrified of seeing him again. The tears start to flow as your dad holds you a little tighter.
âI have so much I want to say but I canât put it into words. I donât know if I can face him again. Iâm so embarrassed.â
Carlisle rose from his seat and kneeled in front of you to meet your eye level like he did when you were growing up. It was his sign that he respected you and wanted to be there for you. Continuing, you told him everything he said. Dad had always been the person you could felt compelled to ask for advice. Maybe because he was literally the oldest of because he was my dad. He was angry as you could see his jaw tighten and a frown deepen. He lets you finish talking about tells you that the embarrassment isnât yours. As he doesnât think he truly meant what he said. You wished you could see the good in people like Carlisle could if he thought the vile words Embry screamed at you was by accident.
You start to get up but he has to help as you are still moving slow and carefully. Carlisle was glad he was coming to keep an eye on you. No one knew what happened if someone rejects the imprint or how long they can last being separated. Alice skips into the living room as you finally got up and picked you up to go get dressed. At this moment you didnât mind to let them take care of you. Besides you were having a panic attack on the inside. As Alice and then Rosalie were getting you ready, jasper was trying to calm you, but it only took a little to the emotional edge off. You knew you had to suck it up, but that didnât mean you had to like it or go along with it. You were getting pushed around only once and he had his chance.

![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c175bfa708767cab03425988062a9671/36fda19c018b9b50-23/s540x810/f2dab98c9d5ca8ff2d6ba08b3561a6850524c3a9.jpg)

Lola, having entered full on detective-mode, interrogated Raphael over their plates of scrambled eggs and bacon with toast. Black coffee and maple syrup scented the air while the morning sun spilled through the plate glass windows, warming the plastic vinyl seats of the booth the two occupied, the din of the older, Sunday morning crowd of churchgoers helping to disguise their conversations surrounding the mysterious and paranormal from nosy eavesdroppers.
âWalk it through with me one more time,â Lola said, conducting the conversation with a strip of bacon in her hand. âYou passed Newspaper Man on the stairs,â she began, leading the opening statement.
Raphael nodded as he buttered his slice of toast. âI did,â he confirmed, moving next to dip his knife into the mini, personal jar of raspberry preserves.
âThen, you looked back, and saw him, quote: âgo into the libraryâ.â
âPrecisely,â he agreed, crunching into his toast slice.
         âHe justâŚwalked in.â
âTurned the doorknob and everything,â Raphael supplied over the rim of his coffee cup.
âOkay, okay, okay. So, you passed him on the stairs, you looked back, and saw him go into the library.â Lola wasnât sure exactly what the cause of her growing headache was, for whether it was a lack of sleep or not enough caffeine, her brain felt like it was slamming repeatedly into a brick wall, unable to wrap itself around the simple concept presented to her of Newspaper Man walking into the library.
âI can assure you the facts wonât change no matter how many times you have me tell the story,â he said with a laugh. He reached his fork across the table, nudging Lolaâs utensil she held loosely in her hand as a reminder to eat her eggs before they turned cold, and his smile softened as she subconsciously began to shovel forkfuls of the yellow fluffiness into her mouth while her brow continued to remain furrowed in thought.
âThe library was locked,â she declared between chews. âModesta made sure of that multiple times while we were checking out. Did he have a key?â she asked, blinking her eyes from staring into the middle ground to turn directly towards Raphael.
âNo,â was his answer. âHe merely approached the library, turned the knob freely, opened the door, entered the room, and then closed the door behind him.â
âBut the library was locked,â she repeated for what must have been the hundredth time, and finally acknowledging the bacon she had been holding, took a bite out of it in frustration.
âI know, which is what makes the whole ordeal so spooky.â He once again reached across the table, taking it upon himself to butter and jam Lolaâs slice of toast. Her body moved independently from her mind, her thoughts enrapt and myopic, fixated on the event at the staircase, oblivious to the fact she had taken the toast slice he offered while uttering a small âthank youâ, already half-consuming it before asking her next question.
âWell, you know what this means now, right?â
âIâm afraid to ask,â he quipped, then thanked the waitress who came to their table to refill their coffees. âBut I have a feeling youâre going to tell me anyway,â he finished once the server left.
         âWe have to go back.â
Raphaelâs hand paused over his cup as he was adding sugar to the freshly poured dark liquid, surprised by Lolaâs remark. âTo the Manor House?â
âObviously,â she sighed with an exasperated eye roll. âCome on, grab your stuff, letâs go.â
âWait a minute, hold on there,â he said, stretching his arm out to stop her from scooching out of the booth. âWe canât go back to the Manor House.â
         âWhy not?â
âWell, we donât have our keys to get back into the building, for one,â he began to explain.
âNewspaper Man didnât need a key,â she grumbled under her breath.
âAnd, itâs only---,â he looked to his watch, â---eight thirty in the morning. The Manor House isnât open yet to the public.â
âWe can wait in the parking lot until the staff come around to unlock the main doors,â she countered, and resumed her scooching.
âDandelion, as much as I want to solve the mystery of the Newspaper Man and the library, I think we need to chalk this up as a really cool, albeit weird experience.â He had stopped her scooching again. âWe can give the Manor House a call later today and ask questions on why the actors have such an early call time, all right?â
Lola stared at Raphael sitting across from her at their shared, sticky little table, and noted he was tired, the slight, puffy bags under his eyes taking on a thin translucence to highlight purple shadows around his drooping lids, and the sight of such weary features on his handsome face plucked a cord deep within her heart. She took up his hand still gently pressed to her arm, and raised it to her lips, kissing his fingers before setting their clasped hands down onto the table, and nodded. They shared a smile, and then returned to eating their breakfast.
âThe Newspaper Man and the library,â she repeated at length with a chuckle. âSounds like a title for a good story.â
âIf anyone could write such a tale, it would be you,â he complimented.
They went back to eating, enjoying the meal in comfortable silence, yet all the while, Lolaâs mind was spinning, wondering how Newspaper Manâs story was going to unfold.
Unfortunately, Newspaper Manâs story was turning into more of a knotted lump of spaghetti than the neat, perfectly laid out exposĂŠ she expected once ending her phone call after breakfast. Following Raphaelâs suggestion, she phoned the Manor House as soon as they returned home, and after a craftily formulated re-telling of events from the morning to gather information about their surprise visitor, learned that cast members of the mystery dinner do not show up that early for rehearsals or shows, let alone in costume, nor had any staff seen a cast member of Detective Babcockâs troupe dressed as if they were selling newspapers on a street corner. It would seem, as her clever fiancĂŠ had previously stated over breakfast, that she would have to chalk this up as a really cool, albeit weird experience.
As the days of the week progressed, she was left to her own devices, which was a risky situation considering most of the time she was bored, the week continuing to draw out in the slow, languid way summer magically melted time. Raphael was preoccupied with Renaissance duties leading up to the big, opening weekend, and so was out of the house most days, and all her other friends had regular jobs to keep them busy, which meant not only was Lola bored, but alone. She listened through most of Stanleyâs recordings she captured during her birthday weekend, and hadnât, as of side A, found a hint of disembodied voices or otherwise, although it was fun re-listening to the mystery theater from that night. She texted Jack to find out how much evidence he was able to collect from his recordings, but he had yet to start going through any footage, as he was needed at Curios and Oddities to help Modesta with the summer crowds.
With nothing to presently occupy her time, Lola reclined flat on her back on the couch in the family room, staring at the ceiling, playing a game she made up with herself of blowing her bangs out of her face to guess where they would land on her forehead. Her mind, all the while, jumped from one thought of topic to the next, unable to land on an activity that sounded the most entertaining, let alone appealing, to spark her interest on how to fill her day. She was all caught up with posting for her writerâs blog, and no new commissions had come in for her freelance jobs. She sighed, and threw a leg over the back of the couch as an arm dangled askance off the edge to complete her sprawled rendition of a squashed starfish. She resigned herself to a day of couch-rotting, and listlessly reached for the remote to the TV for some mind numbing binging, when her phone pinged from its place on the coffee table, and startled by the sudden tinkling of wind chimes, fumbled for the device, curiosity piqued with hope for some much needed excitement.
âOh! Itâs Mom,â she said aloud to herself, looking at the notification on her screen. Instead of reading the message, she decided on giving her mom a call. âHi, Mom, I got your text. Whatâs up?â
âHi, Sweetheart. I was wondering if you wanted an old box of your stuff I had saved from when you were in middle school. I found it while cleaning out the attic,â Lolaâs mother, Marcia, asked in her light and chipper tone.
âMiddle school?â Lola scoffed. âWhy are you hanging onto my old report cards?â
âTheyâre not your old report cards,â Marcia laughed, âand you never know when you might need them. This box has some of your old notebooks and stories. There are some photos in here I think you might like, too.â
âOld stories? I thought I had all of those with me.â
âI thought you took them all as well, and yet, hereâs a box with your name on it. Want me to swing by and drop them off for you?â
âNo, I can drive to you,â Lola said. âAre you busy, or can I come over now?â
âWhenever you are able is fine with me. Iâm home all day, so thereâs no need to rush.â
âAwesome! Let me throw on some pants real quick and Iâll head on over.â
There was a lengthened pause before Marcia spoke again. âYouâre not wearing pants? I hope youâre at least in the comfort of your own home.â
âI mean, theyâre pajama pants, but at this stage, nothing public worthy,â Lola replied, smoothing down the faded, threadbare Halloween kitty printed pajama bottoms she practically lived in year-round. She smiled when she caught the motherly âdisapprovalâ sigh on the other end of the line. âLove you, too. See you in a jiffy!â
Disconnecting the call, Lola jumped up from the couch to eagerly head upstairs to change into something presentable. Not only was it a welcomed delight to share a phone call with her mother, but the conversation gave her the opportunity to get some fresh air and sunlight, much like a puppy or a house plant. It didnât take her long to find something clean, and after a short drive through her old neighborhood, she parked her car in the familiar driveway, and with a bounce to her step, used her childhood house key to let herself inside.
âHi, Mom, Iâm here,â she called, closing the front door behind her as she walked into the home.
âHello, Sweetheart,â Marcia called from the front room, and pausing the video she had playing on the TV, got up from her crafting spot to give her daughter a hug. âYou got here fast. I just sat down to start stitching,â she informed.
âWhat are you working on?â Lola asked, taking a peek over at her motherâs crafting corner of the family room. As far back as Lola could remember, her mother, most nights after dinner, had a threaded needle in one hand and an embroidery hoop in the other, contentedly sitting in her rocking chair with glasses perched on the end of her nose, while her father sat close by watching TV or reading a book, as she sat on the floor between them coloring. Her childhood, though could be viewed as simple, held some of her most precious memories, and she cherished that young era of her life deep in the purest part of her heart. It was nice to see that some things, even if they adapted and evolved, at the core of it all, never changed.
âIâm working on a new project for fall,â Marcia answered, and she held up a piece of fabric roughly the size of a dishtowel with smooth, even lying Xâs in warm, variegated tones of chestnut, marigold, and wine in the beginning shape of a squirrel.
âAlready starting your fall stitching?â Lola asked with a laugh. âThe summer season just started, you know.â
âI need to get these pieces done if your father is going to cut the frames for me so I can decorate in time,â Marcia said. âPlus, you know I canât resist a squirrel no matter the time of year.â
âHe is a cutie pie,â Lola agreed, admiring the hard work her mother put into the cross stitching piece. âWhatâs his name?â
         âDweezil.â
âFitting for a creature of the woodlands,â Lola laughed, giving a nod of approval for the name.
âThank you, I thought so, too. Now, would you like some coffee and then Iâll show you that box?â Marcia asked as she gently folded her fabric, laying it aside for later attention.
âOoh, yes, please! Coffee would be delightful.â
Picking up conversation as if she had never moved away from home, the two ventured into the kitchen to pour themselves the freshly brewed coffee, and then headed up stairs to where Lola found the hallway strewn with several old, dusty boxes. Marcia waded through the maze of floor boxes like a pro, while Lola moved lopsided to avoid tripping herself, following her mother to the best of her ability until they both ended up in her old bedroom. She paused at the threshold while her mother continued in, and leaned against the doorframe, allowing the ghosts of nostalgia to wash over her.
âHow did I ever fit so much furniture into this one, tiny room?â she asked, seeing the years play out in her mindâs eye of her life spent in her special corner of the house. Although the space had since been converted into her motherâs crafting studio when she left for college, there still lingered the scent of her past, the subtle notes of books and summer breezes helping to fuel the little pockets of old memories.
âTime has a funny way of enlightening our perspectives,â Marcia said. âAh! Here we are. Your box of old things,â she declared, patting the top of the box in the middle of the room. She sat in the chair at her sewing machine while Lola made herself comfortable on the floor.
Setting her coffee mug to the side, Lola unfolded the musty flaps of cardboard. âOh!â she laughed upon recognizing the bundles of neatly stacked papers. âThis is my âextrasâ box. I had printed out copies of my old stories and tried my hand at bookbinding them to look like real published books.â Lola held up a copy of the first book she âofficiallyâ ever wrote, a tale of a magical adventure of her best friends and herself traveling through whimsical realms to conquer some harrowing quest to defeat notorious, evil villains. The cover was held together with faded masking tape, and old remnants of the title made in silver puff-glitter glue flaked off in chunks to land on the carpet.
âNow it makes sense why I left these,â she said as more and more bundles of paper revealed themselves. âI have the originals at my place, but I couldnât bear to throw away the extras I didnât need.â
âHow many copies did you make?â Marcia asked.
âA good handful or more, maybe ten or so, by the looks of it,â Lola answered. âI gave all my friends their copies, and kept extras on hand for anyone who seemed like theyâd be interested in reading. God, I made these when I wasâŚmaybe twelve? Thirteen? And here are the extras for the rest of the series,â she announced as she dug through the remainder of the box.
âHave you ever thought about revisiting your old stories?â Marcia asked. A lull had formed in the conversation during Lolaâs perusal, and she took it upon herself to fill the silence.
âRevisit my old stories? Arenât I technically doing that now?â
âI mean, have you ever thought about putting your old stories out into the world? Like on your blog?â
âWell, I wrote them in middle school, so, no,â Lola laughed.
âYou can always clean them up, and edit them to fit your style of writing now. I bet theyâd do well if people had a chance to read them. Who knows? Maybe a publisher will come across them and offer you a contract.â
âI feel like youâre trying to hint at something here, Mom. Whatâs on your mind?â
Marcia gave a small sigh into her coffee mug before taking a sip to gain the courage needed to say the words to speak to her daughter that wouldnât end up hurting her feelings. âI worry, is all,â she began.
         âWorry? About what?â
âItâs justâŚI know how talented of a writer you are, and I love that youâre making your mark in the literary world.â
         âButâŚ?â
âBut, I worry that youâre spending all your time writing other peoplesâ stories with that commission work you do, instead of taking that time to write your own.â
âI write my own stories,â Lola defended, though she dropped her eyes to the bound pages she still held in her hands.
âYou used to, Sweetheart, but itâs changed. Donât get me wrong, I think itâs great youâre trying to make a profit out of your hobby, but itâs your contest entries where I see you really shine in how gifted you are at writing. You clearly have the ability to craft your own characters and worlds that are truly unique and gripping. You donât need to waste good ideas on other peoplesâ wish lists for their lack of ability to create a good story. I want to see you go within, really look in the mirror, and ask yourself, âWhat story do I want to write?â.â
There was that word again: hobby. Lola knew her mother didnât mean anything by it, however, the word still acted like a haunted, never fully healed paper cut to her confidence sprinkled with fine wine and lemon juice; it stung. She took her motherâs words to heart as she absentmindedly flipped through the pages of her younger selfâs tangible figments of imagination. It used to be she couldnât leave the house without pen and paper in hand, but as the years grew, and new experiences and relationships entered or exited her life, the passions of preteen adolescence stumbled unceremoniously into the muddy waters plagued with societal pressures and prejudices. Writing had always been her saving grace, a link created to keep her heart tethered to a golden place of warmth and joy, yet the desired mantle of authorhood was threatened by seemingly good natured friends and family, labeling her passions as a âhobbyâ at best, and narcissistic fanfiction at its worst. The loophole she gave herself to keeping the dream alive was her writerâs blog, her freelance gigs a buoy in the mire of unpopular and sometimes unsolicited opinions, allowing her the outlet needed to give her soul a chance at a voice. Her mother wasnât wrong to worry, and for a while, she had been feeling like she was âactingâ the part of an author, as opposed to being the author she knew she was supposed to become. Â
âIâm not afraid of rejection, if thatâs what youâre thinking,â Lola softly spoke, speaking on the fringes surrounding some of her fears. âI donât think âafraidâ is even the right word. I justâŚwhat if Iâm a fraud? I didnât go to school for writing. I---I donât even know where to begin.â She finally looked up at her mother as her shoulders slumped in defeat, and a frown pulled down the corners of her mouth.
âSweetie, itâs okay not to know where to begin,â Marcia encouraged, getting down on the floor to be eye-level with Lola. âThe important thing is that you start. The rest will figure itself out once you take that first step. And if it helps, you can always start at the beginning.â Her hand rested over her daughterâs, the two holding the clump of tattered pages that symbolized the advent of Lolaâs life path.
âThanks, Mom,â Lola said, her smile returning. She wiped away at a tear and laughed. âI didnât realize how much I actually needed to hear that.â
âYouâre a good author,â Marcia reminded, âand by all means, keep your blog and commissions, but itâs time for you to write. For you.â
âI can do that,â she assured with a determined nod. They embraced, and Lola felt the tether of her heartstrings vibrating with a warmth made of golden joy.

Hello again! I'd like a Yuichiro x Oc scenario. I'm sure you've already read the post about Yumera, but surely you'll still have a few questions on how to write her. Sorry if it's difficult! I promise I won't be mad if you refuse /gen
This is a Yuichiro-lives-kind of thing
Yumera is already friends with Muichiro. So in her mind, the next logical step is to befriend his twin brother, Yuichiro. However, it's not as easy. Each time she tries getting closer, it doesn't work. He was already a bit put off by her. Especially when she starts to hangout with Muichiro and him more often. But he saw how Muichiro genuinely has fun with her, so he doesn't oppose to them hanging out. Though he still doesn't understand why she keeps trying to get closer when he has been nothing but rude to her. One day, he takes it too far, and Yumera actually gets upset and stops talking to both of the twins. Muichiro says that Yuichiro should apologize. He feels guilt, and so he does! Can you write something like this?
awe ofc i can! i love this concept!<33 iâll try my best!<33
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Guilt
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Yumera had been friends with Muichiro Tokito for a while now, all she has to do now is befriend the older Tokito twin, Yuichiro.
Saying thatâs a difficult task would be an understatement.
âYuichiro!â The girl called out and he looked up at her, an annoyed expression on his face.
âWhat?â He asked coldly and Yumera chuckled nervously.
âI was wanting to know if youâd-â She started then Yuichiro cut her off, holding up his hand.
âNo. Stop asking me to hang out, youâre not worth mine or my brotherâs time!â He spat out harshly.
Yumera was taken aback by his comment. Tears filled her eyes but Yuichiro couldnât see them since she wore a mask, he could certainly hear it in her voice though.
âFine. I wonât bother you two anymore.â She spat out tearfully.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âNee san, mind explaining why Yume chan has been avoiding both of us?â Muichiro asked worriedly.
âShe was being annoying so I told her to stop hanging out with us.â Yuichiro explained stoically and Muichiro frowned.
âYou need to apologize!â He exclaimed, eyebrows furrowed.
Yuichiro felt a bit guilty when Muichiro said this, not enough to do anything about it though.
Over the next few days, Yumera continued to avoid the Tokito twins.
Muichiro decided heâd had enough of it.
âNee san! Iâm serious, you need to apologize to Yume chan!â He insisted as he motioned to the girlâs form as she sprinted away from them.
Yuichiro sighed, the guilt had been eating away at him.
âYumera! Wait!â Yuichiro called out, the masked girl turned around to look at him. He ran up to her, panting softly once he reached her.
âI thought I wasnât worth your time?â She spat out bitterly.
âIâm sorry, I shouldnât have said that to you.â He apologized and her tense stance seemed to soften.
âI was scared to get attached to you. Me and my brother lost our parents a few years ago, I didnât want to go through the pain of losing someone I care about again. So, I shut myself off.â He explained when she remained silent.
âItâs ok, Yuichiro. I understand.â Her tone was soft and kind.
He was glad she accepted his apology.
~the end~
A/n: i hope you like this! iâm sorry if i didnât get her personality correct! i tried my best!
