Ahhh man that is so much pressure! Inventing a whole new AU!

Okay, this is almost certainly not a new AU concept but! One I do not see enough of!

Your blorbos are a Gate Team out of Stargate Command. You get to decide which ones are military or civilians or aliens, what their specialties are, and which one keeps dying and being resurrected, and they go have weird hijinks on alien planets that all look pretty much like the outskirts of Vancouver, featuring populations of humans transplanted by ancient alien/gods!

So for instance if I was gonna do a Sandman Stargate AU

(I'm not!)

Hob is the anti-Dr. Jackson--he seems to die on a very regular basis but he's never actually dead. If you think he got killed on an alien planet you need to go back and look for him again because he will be there! Not at all dead!

Dream is some sort of civilian expert--an anthropologist specializing in common narratives and the way stories show relationships between societies--who somehow got recruited from the UK and displays a constant vague distaste for all the military everything and all the violence right up until the chips are really down and then he reveals himself to be terrifyingly badass actually

(he just dies the once.)

In season 3 it's revealed that Dream's younger brother was a mililtary member of a Gate team who disappeared under hushed-up circumstances and that's actually why Dream got himself into the program, to find out what happened to him--and it turns out he went AWOL voluntarily and is living very happily on an alien planet somewhere, but a lot of people get killed in the string of missions that lead to them finding that out, and he refuses to come back and relocates to a different planet as soon as they're gone so he can never be found again)

In the pilot episode Matthew's there as a military intelligence type guy on their gate team--the obligatory American to Hob and Dream and Jo's Brits--and then he gets killed but Dream figures out how to use a weird alien artifact to save him, except he gets transferred into an alien bird's body instead of it fixing his own body

Jo is British Army, from a long line of family members who have died in military service, usually doing something really weird and secret

her dad was on an early gate team, maybe even the first one--the one from the movie, that went to Abydos and fought Ra and thought that that was the only destination the gate could go to. He was killed there, and Jo wasn't told what really happened to him, but she knew it was something other than what they told her--and she was vindicated when she was recruited into the Stargate program by somebody who was with him on that last mission.

(Her dad was also an asshole, this is not like a touching vindication of him as a hero, he was a complete dick and a terrible dad and probably would have been an even worse one if he hadn't died, but that didn't mean Jo wasn't going to find out the truth and follow in his footsteps.)

Episodes 2-5 include a tragicomic subplot about Matthew's plight as a dead human and live alien bird and whether he's allowed to still be on the team or is just going to be a mascot in the SGC, and meanwhile a new charming blond American guy is temporarily assigned to Hob and Dream and Jo's team, and it's when Corin reveals he's an alien plant and tries to murder Dream that you first see Dream really turn on his badassery

after that they get young Lt. Rose Walker as their obligatory American for the rest of the series. Matthew is also on the team but they prefer to field four people who can all do stuff requiring thumbs.

So, yes. Here's my fanfic reading numbers for 2024, effective 4pm 25th March:

I'm an incredibly fast reader and always have been. I'm also, like a certain prince we all love, a world-class insomniac who doesn't work (other than novel-writing) and doesn't have any caretaking responsibilities... all of which adds up to a LOT of free reading time.

I used to try to read everything in the RWRB tag. Then that got a bit too difficult, but I still tried to check it every day or two and open anything that looked even vaguely like I might enjoy it, and I was doing pretty well on that until a month or so ago when I got sick/was travelling/had family come to stay and now I'm debating whether to try to catch up on it or just start again haha.

I'm definitely down to try almost anything, and have found some real gems by just pawing through the fandom tag and opening twenty tabs at a time lmao.

So, maybe AUs that thrived enough to have other participants and or cosplayers counts? They are themed after pizza and ... being an aggressively gay glitter goth undead highschool band?

Deep Dish Nine as the pizza shop themed AU subset of the Deep Space Nine fandom was not entirely my fault, but a lot of it was. It was 2013 and Tumblr was eminently silly and enthusiastic and so there were absolutely silly restaurant logos, hilarious parallels to canon in the form of character jobs translated to modern mundane careers, and both bonkers and heartfelt art and fic. I loved it, it was a wonderful time. People were adding to it, branching off with characters they were fixated on, and trying to incorporate the other entries in the Star Trek franchise. I am still so very fond of the little world it has become, and I gained some very precious friends from that little world spawned from me thinking the baseball uniforms made them look like pizza delivery people.

Song Without A Name is the neon colored glitter gore highschool au musical songfic gay fever dream fic I wrote based on Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, and the hilarity/crack factor comes mostly when you see the art for it next to art for the canon material. Many people who ended up reading the story because they kept seeing art and fanart of these scratchy gothy inky characters covered in glitter and Lisa Frank colors. i get told all the time that people read it just to understand what the fuck the appeal was that they were seeing all this fanart and cosplay clearly in the same weird universe.

And then I sucked them in with darkness and feelings on the inside, haha.

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? favourite development? lucy. we see her grow from someone who's unsure of herself and her place in the world to being someone who is strong and confident and capable. she goes from running to hide behind natsu to refusing to run away and let him fight alone. she goes from whiny and scared to self-assured and independent. i love her sooo much the mostest in the world, so baby <3 that being said, best character arc is probably gajeel. idk i think with fairy tail doing soooo many villain redemptions and a lot of them are kinda naff imo (flare, all of sabertooth, ocracion seis is kinda not great either), but because we get to see so much of gajeel we get to watch him go from this uncaring villain who hurts lucy just for shits and gigs, to joining the guild but being apathetic towards it, to becoming a real part of the fairy tail family who is willing to put his life on the line for the people he cares about. it's a really great character arc, the best in ft imo

V - Which character do you relate to most? natsu for sure. a few people have told me that i remind them of lucy because of the way i outwardly present myself and i def do relate to her in some ways i feel a deeper connection to natsu. once you get past that sort of level-headed exterior, i'm loud and annoying, i like to eat a lot, i tend to sort of like to be alone aside from a few people, i'm a cat person, i hate change, i think i'm the coolest person in most rooms i'm in, i am deeply autistic and i'd rather be shot in the head than be made to confront my own emotions.

Oh very much so. He absolutely loves cuddles. Especially likes being cuddled up on the couch or bed with someone. He just enjoys the warmth and comfort of another person as he's very much a physical touch kind of person.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He's terrible at saving money. He gets urges when he sees something shiny that he can either wear or make into cute jewelry and then it's goodbye money. This is why he has such a big wardrobe of clothes. An all those clothes just gives him more excuses on slacking on doing his laundry more often than he does. He just hates washing clothes. And dishes which means he eats out a lot. But he's not much of a cook anyways. He's a passable cook but would rather someone else does the cooking instead.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He actually puts a lot of thought and effort into gifts for special occasions. Paying attention to the small details are something he's picked up as a healer. He feels it helps him to do his job better if he watches the smaller details just as much as the big ones. Like he just gifted Stefan some special jewelry with stones meant for storing aether in them because he saw the ones Stefan wears on a normal basis during the times he's tended to Stefan. He also dotes on Ely when she lets him because she's not feeling well. He puts the most effort into acts of service for those he cares about. Less so on certain everyday tasks such as keeping up with his laundry.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He would do it in person and try to be gentle to explain why. He knows break ups are painful no matter how they're done. And being a healer, he'd want to cause as little pain or soften the blow as much as he could. He doesn't want to be cruel and he's not very fond of confrontation.

E=Exhibitionism-Do you like being seen getting off? Ever done anything explicitly hoping to get caught?

Oh definitely. There's something incredible about being watched--honestly it's one of my favourite things. And, yes, definitely have done something hoping to get caught. I don't know, it's just... lovely to be somewhat... on display I suppose. Be appreciated like that. Feels wonderful.

K=Kitten-In to pet play? Do you prefer kittens or pups?

I don't know? The word 'pet' irks me. Heard it maybe a bit too often from individuals I'd rather not think too much about or remember too thoroughly. Lots of old flings and unfortunate debtors who really like the word. 'Pet' irks me, so does calling me 'toy', neither of them are actual triggers like 'use' is but well-- same general feeling. No idea how it'd actually go if it was part of a dynamic type thing and those words didn't come into play. Considering commands and praise are a yes? Who knows.

T=Teasing-How much is just the right amount of teasing before somebody gets dicked down? And what are your favorite means of teasing?

Oh how could I ever manage to say just how much is the right amount? Void, it's fun getting absolutely wrecked like that. Honestly you'd probably have an easier time asking Sylvas what's the perfect amount for me with that one--they've had a lot of fun teasing me before, until there wasn't anything else in my head and I was gone. Frankly you can go until I'm so far out of my head that I'm lost in my own little world--I love overstimulation so just going and going works very well for me. As far as the favourite means though? Anything that involves the mouth. Huge oral fixation on me, absolutely ridiculous. I've gotten off just on playing with that before. But really, just touch me. Wherever. I love it.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?) Oh god, he's like a freight train. He can be gentle when he wants to be, but it's rare. Not because he's trying to be mean, but because he has very limited control over his reactivity to things.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?) If he likes you, he will find every opportunity and reason to touch you. Hugging you from behind, the side, the front, or just laying flat on top of you to keep you from going anywhere. It's all good to him.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?) Until he met Marcus, Danny didn't think he was capable of loving anyone but himself. The first time he said it, he surprised himself. But if he does say it, he means it.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?) Moderately. It just depends on the subject in question. Danny is, however, very good at hiding his anger in most situations. Look for the small tells. His eyes and smile are usually the best give away.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about their partner? Do they remember every little detail they mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?) This man will remember every goddamn thing you tell him, and the things you don't. How'd he know the exact time and hospital you were born in? When did he get your bank information? How the hell does he know the name of your best friend in first grade?!

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in their relationship?) The moment he first revealed himself to you (not like that you dirty bird). Whether it was popping out of the closet or calling you to ask about your favorite scary movie, he'll always cherish your first meeting.

FirstPrince and also FirstPrince 🤣 Though I always had a BLAST writing Jake/Rachel and Alexis/Ruth in Schitt's Creek mostly for the "wait why does this make SO MUCH SENSE" comments 😜 And I really, REALLY love to write relationships that are doomed by canon, so the drabbles I've written for Alex/Liam and Arthur/Catherine have both been something I've loved doing.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

Most fandoms, honestly. I don't live in an area or have a local community that is big into nerdy stuff, so I only discovered many things existed because of Tumblr, usually when my whole dash just starts yelling about a nonsense phrase out of nowhere. This happened especially with Undertale! Also many Chinese dramas!

But I also learned that Supernatural was still going, so it has been a mixed bag.

Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.

I'm really trying to think of something I participated in the Fandom for that I would never go back to, and I don't think I have any that could be properly considered Abandoned! At least, not any of the ones I was in enough for people to have noticed it. I am not active in most of the fandoms I have ever been in, but I think that's true of everyone. I just tend to be the type that likes something once REALLY HARD and then kind of always has it in nap mode in the background of the lazy susan in my brain. I have been very lucky to not have been invested in many of the things that have changed with time or aged in scary ways.

Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?

What AREN'T my secondhand fandoms at this point? Right now, though, it appears to be largely Good Omens across like 7 people, but other things I know strange levels of things about recently because of friends are: professional wrestling, Our Flag Means Death, Persona 5, and Danny Phantom.

D. Death Spot | What is their most ticklish spot?

Ooo I’m so torn on this one cause he’s so ticklish on his neck & back but I love the idea of his thighs being a major hot spot, so these spots are tied for his death spot. & also his tummy

H. Habits | As a lee/ler or both, do they have specific habits when it comes to tickling?

The Narrator loves to use his narrating ability to restrain & tickle his lee aka Stanley. He also really likes to use raspberries & tickly kisses. He doesn’t really have any habits as a lee, but he tends to taunt & antagonize whoever is wrecking him so that they don’t hold back

K. Killer Move | As a ler, do they have special skills to use against their lees and drive them crazy with?

Narrating as he’s tickling is absolutely his killer move, he’ll describe what he’s doing & even describes how it feels & it makes it 10,000 times worst

L. Laughter | What does their laughter sound like when they are tickled?

His laugh is mid range but just slightly more on the high pitched side of the spectrum. Very bubbly & is a nervous giggle & he has these deep belly chuckles that melt Stanley’s heart

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Destiney is absolutely wonderful with children. She has one of her own and hopes for more. Evelyn is already three years old. I mean she doesn't know it yet but she's getting twins boys next. (Twins run in the family. Especially twin boys.) She wants at least a minimum of three kids but will gladly have more than that because she has such a wonderful support system and family.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect their partner? How would they like to be protected?)

Destiney is momma wolf. You do not mess with those she considers part of her pack. Especially her husband, daughter, or brother. She's all gentle and sweet till you try to harm anyone she cares about. Then you better watch out. Just because she's not actively adventuring anymore doesn't mean she's let her skills dull any. She's still in top shape with her magic and sword. Plus she's a skilled scholar.

She is also willing to let someone protect her without making a fuss about it. She knows she's not invincible or the strongest and she has a family to go home to. Just don't try to protect her by hiding the truth from her. She hates that more than anything when someone lies and hides things because they think it will protect her.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

This really depends on the situation and who he is around. Stefan is rather haughty or silent with a look of disapproval when it comes to strangers or the company he works with. It's really more a self defense mode for him because no one can hurt him if he doesn't let them in. So he's very much not gentle at all.

At least till someone he cares about is around. Sahji in particular. Though his sister's family he will be softer and gentler around as well. But Sahji is still the place he feels the safest to be himself in full. So he can very well be a very gentle person if he wants to be, he just chooses who sees that gentle side of him because he is afraid of it being used against him to bully him.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Stefan is far more like his father than he'll ever know. Edward was much like his Stefan was. Like Stefan he was terrible at making friends and being vulnerable except around those he trusted completely. Which is why Edward was so concerned for his son and tried to discourage the interests in the arcane. He was worried his son would be his mirror. And in some ways he has.

hahah well TJ.. as you know you've been very influential when it comes to ships - especially for Naruto. First one that comes to mind is KakaGai, but there's also YamaSai and KankuSai and ShikaCho. All of them I still love <3 Also, thanks to you I shipped GaraShir before I even watched the show. And there are just countless ships from other fandoms that I'm not (really) a part of that I have a soft spot for, because you sell them so well :))

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Errr I guess you could say HP? But that's not Tumblr's fault - all it did was share the messed up things Rowling said and did and gradully all of the moments HP got tiny kid me through rough and lonely times started feeling like a very big lie and I can't even think of it fondly anymore.

Oh gosh, so many, but let's go for Fjord from Critical Role. All the little and big steps he takes towards learning to accept himself throughout the campaign and the way they don't come all at once but are spread out over like a hundred plus episodes, including inevitable steps backward. The strength it took for him to walk away from the one who gave him conditional power and to accept unconditional love that is extended by his friends and the Wildmother. His arc just makes me so emotional and happy every time I think about it. I love him and I love his journey and I cannot wait to see it animated.

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

Yamato from Naruto seems like a perfect friend. He's kind and loyal and usually a reasonable, level headed person who can calm you down in stressed situations. But he's also someone you can have fun with!

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

For Saraiya Goyou: 1) anyone other than me making stuff for it lol. Usually I don't mind it so much, but sometimes I almost desperately wish I would see the tag update and it's not something I made. 2) drawings and fics from the past are mostly for Yaichi and Masa. I'd love more art and writing for other characters and pairings (romantic or otherwise) 3) sneakily shared fan translations of the prequels and spin-offs would be great lol. They're never going to be translated officially, but scans are taken down immediately as well. I bought Futagashira but I have no way of reading it unless I learn to read Japanese myself ^^;

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

Shuffle produced Pulling Teeth by Green Day. "I'm all busted up, broken bones and nasty cuts, accidents will happen, but this time I can't get up." That's definitely Meg and Zagreus from Hades. They beat each other up on a regular basis lol and I was so bad at this game in the beginning I got Zag killed by her a lot (sorry Zag..) Not top 10 ship for me, but I like them well enough!

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

1) Matsu from Saraiya Goyou: during my first reread the manga, after I learned that he loved Yaichi, I fell in love with him through his subtle and heartbreaking expressions. That's when I really got to know and understand him more. I love that he's charming as can be for his job, but doesn't know how to behave around his friends. He's so skilled and he knows it, yet has such a low self esteem. He's just a highly skilled, very pathetic little grumpy guy that deserves all the love in the world. And I give him as much as I can. 2) Caduceus from Critical Role: perfect, big, chill cow man who has the best advice and calming words for others, but can't recognise his own problems, let alone how to deal with them. He's so dumb and wise and I love him. 3) Gerry from the Magnus Archives: he's one of those people that seems to be full of contradictions. He's so bitter and stubborn and impatient and crude, but in a way that feels friendly? His life was so full of grief and horror from the moment he was born and he just wants a break from it all, but at the same time he can't stop himself from helping people who are about to fall - or have already fallen - victim to the horrors. The fear and defiance he lived (and died) with is heartbreaking and admirable.
