Valued/dominant information elements:
Ne, Ti, Fe, Si
Subdued/unvalued information elements:
Se, Ni, Te, Fi
Outlook on life/keywords:
light-heartedness, down-to-earth, to have a good time and fun, avoidance of pain and taking things too literally/seriously, not overly competitive or ambitious, goofy, warm, sociable, child-like, curiosity, intellectual banter/tangents, exchange of abstract ideas, judgement-free, merriness, enthusiasm, freedom of speech, democratic, entertainment, community, less inclined to making long-term commitment, present-oriented
values:
sensory and mental comfort, peace, simplicity, family, relaxation over force, avoidance of conflict, high-pressure, (Si > Se)
possibilities, subjectivity, openness to new, abstract and unusual ideas, 'what if this happens? what if this is possible?' etc, multiple viewpoints rather than one definite one (Ne > Ni)
exchange of theoretical ideas for fun/intellectual stimulation rather than the practical merit/appliance (Ti > Te)
warm emotionally charged/comfortable/cozy atmospheres, mood/vibe, community/collectivist oriented, absence of dogmatic judgements/harsh opinions and emphasis on psychological closeness (lack of in-group/out-groups bias; openness to everyone) (Fe > Fi)
fantasy setting analogy (u/G-G_Sensei ., A take on quadras as types of narration (2023) r/socionics):
adventure novel set in some kind of golden age of great exploration. Lots of focus on vastness and stimulation of new-found worlds, detailed descriptions of luscious nature, geeky science in linnean fashion, group environments ("western"-like society, ship personnel, tribes on remote islands, etc)
Tumblr media
Negatives/cons:
other types (especially those that value Fi or Te) may view this quadra as superficial, obnoxious and obtrusive. May find them irritating because they are unable to be serious and may be dismissive, detached or insensitive.

Lately I've been getting into Battletech/Mechwarrior shit, for a very strange muscle memory reason - I played Mechwarrior 2 way back when, on an Apple Quadra. None of the lore made any sense to me, all I knew was heat gauges and alpha strikes. So it's kind of supremely cool that the old bitcrushed laser and peaking midi noises of MW2 have been turned into this thing I can just crank the levels up on my headphones and engage with MW5.

Socionics Quadras — Alpha
Alpha, or the ‘first’ quadra, includes ILE, SEI, ESE, and LII. Dominant IM elements of Alpha quadra: Ne, Si, Fe, Ti.
Reinin characterizes this quadra as Judicious, Merry, and Democratic.
Dominant elements
The dominant IM elements of the Alpha Quadra are Ne, Ti, Fe, Si. Grouping together the elements of the Ego blocks of the Alpha Quadra types, we get a picture of what aspects of life Alpha Quadra types strive to bring to the forefront of life, as well as the kind of group atmosphere and lifestyle they pursue.
Ne blocked with Ti:
Alpha types are inclined to discuss highly theoretical concepts as a source of intellectual stimulation and fun rather than for their practical merits.
Alpha types tend to value logically consistent beliefs and ideas, and behavior that is consistent with personal values.
Alpha types typically follow through on their ideas in the form of group activity.
Fe blocked with Si:
Alpha types tend to enjoy participating in groups where there is free exchange of positive emotional expression in an atmosphere pleasing to the senses.
Alpha types are inclined to discuss stories told in detail and according to the sequence in which events happened, rather than “jump to the point” quickly.
Alpha types are inclined to show affection for others in the form of small practical services or gifts.
Alpha types tend to feel energized in the positive atmosphere of special events, such as public holidays, parties and special celebrations.
Subdued elements
The subdued IM elements of the Alpha Quadra are Se, Ni, Te, Fi. Grouping together the elements of the Super-Ego blocks of the Alpha Quadra types, we get a picture of what aspects of life Alpha types strive to keep hidden, avoid, not focus attention on, and keep at the periphery of their lives.
Se blocked with Fi:
Alpha types prefer to avoid the discussion of controversial and unpleasant subjects regarding personal relationships while in groups, especially if leading to confrontations.
Alpha types are inclined to be tolerating of minor past misdeeds by others, giving priority to reconciliation and a convivial atmosphere.
Ni blocked with Te:
Alpha types are less likely to make investments that require long-term commitment and upkeep. They prefer short-term investments that offer a reliable outcome with minimal involvement.
Alpha types avoid taking direct life advice, preferring to experience and learn for themselves. They perceive people who try to give such advice as pedantic.
Group behavior
Inclination for comfortable and pleasant group atmosphere, in the emotional, sensorial, and intellectual aspects. An ideal Alpha group situation is the exchange of light-hearted jokes while discussing imaginative ideas, movies, or sometimes sports, all while enjoying pleasant food and drink. Narrating personal experiences usually takes the form of telling a joke; funny personal experiences are preferred over “serious” ones. The exchange of sober concrete details are avoided. If the group is playing a game together, the fun and jokes that go along with it are at least as important as the game itself. They avoid generating “heavy” moments; any dramatic expressions are limited in time, most often in service of a joke. Alphas are also perhaps the most likely types to participate in group use of mind-altering substances.
Alpha discussions tend to go off on tangents, in whatever direction seems most interesting or funny at the moment. Unusual personal observations are common, resulting from the analysis of the idiosyncrasies or inconsistencies of everyday life. If many in the group share the same observations, they are likely to express their agreement emphatically, so as to create a kind of “mental harmony” which enhances the group dynamic. If a new problem is encountered, it is expanded and developed in as many ways as possible, until some kind of satisfactory conclusion is reached.
Alphas make no distinction between “insiders” and “outsiders”, easily drawing people into a conversation once it has begun, though they tend to just as easily withdraw if the person is not receptive. Likewise, they prefer to have the same behavior at work as at play; they find formal speech and dress to be pretentious, unnecessarily limiting, and even ridiculous. Alphas dislike the idea that there is something going on “behind the scenes”, preferring to keep things (especially personal motivations) as open and straightforward as possible.
Romance styles
Romantic relationships usually evolve from sharing activities and interests for fun in a two-person version of the group behavior description above. Priority is given to keeping the partner happy in the sense of a good mood and amused on a daily basis, with avoidance of direct accusations or unnecessarily harsh criticism; relationships are seen as a source of day-to-day fun and happiness. Focus on remembering dates of particular significance and celebrating them. Playful interactions are based around light teasing and making the partner laugh; intimate atmospheres are based on generating a comfortable, welcoming, cozy atmosphere.
Perception of other quadras
Beta
Alphas tend to regard Beta types as “cool” and “fun”, but also as bossy, boorish and coarse. In social situations, Alphas often resign the lead to Betas because Betas generally exert a ‘vibe’ of control over such situations. When positive emotions are expressed between members of these quadras, they get along quite well; however, Betas’ negative emotions are often perceived by Alphas as tiresome. Alphas often joke light-heartedly in attempt to improve Betas’ moods, or to gently ridicule them.
Gamma
Alphas tend to regard Gamma types warily, as stand-offish and emotionally cold or even hostile, especially in work situations, as well as inclined to play favorites with those they know better, or are attracted to (for whatever reason, be it sexually or for power and gain.) Alphas tend to see Gamma types as too harsh in their words and unimaginative, lacking future perspective, and even disingenuous, as well as having a mean streak of unforgivingness and vindictiveness.
Delta
Alphas tend to regard Delta types as kindly and creative, but also as pragmatic and serious. When Deltas give Alphas advice, Alphas often perceive it as well-intentioned but too simplistic and direct. Alphas often respect Deltas’ principles, opinions, and caring attitudes; however, they tend to perceive them as, at best, admirable and at worst, demanding, rather than fun.

Pathologic is, for the record, Ne/Si for the most part as far as I can tell. Dybowsky seems alpha quadra but I don't have the nerve to look closely, it's just the feeling I get and I may be wrong, in which case I'll delete this post. The rest of the writers may be Se/Ni. There's a mix of both in Pathologic, I think.
Bachelor Dankovsky seems best aligned with alpha quadra, with elements of delta quadra. I think he most likely may be SiFe (bonus: he looks a lot like it in Pathologic 2, using a loose CT methodology. In Pathologic classic, using the same visual typing method, he's ambiguous).
Artemy looks and behaves a lot like a CT NiFe in classic, but Pathologic 2 seems to be a different thing altogether, so I can't say anything about it until I've played the game. Visually speaking he seems like he could he FeSi(!) in 2 which is troubling, because his themes are so Se/Ni in classic. It all remains to be seen.
I also have Enneagram thoughts, but maybe in another post

Hi! I'd be so thankful if you'd help me type myself.
I have had so many tests which results are always EII or LII, some of them included relative results, as it determines the percentage of my answers matching each type, and so the result is most of the time in this order: 1)EII 2)LII 3)ILI/IEI 4)ILE 5)IEI and the rest are almost null.
upon reading a little about the information elements I can confirm that both my Ne and Ni are strong and I'm pretty sure that Ne is the valued one, on the other hand both my Se and Si are very weak I don't know which one is the valued one though (I only concluded that it's Si depending on the previous data), this helped me eliminate the ILI and IEI, but still I'm having trouble determining the positions of the judging elements, I tried reading about the quadras values and I can say that I relate to the Alpha quadra primarily, and to a lesser extent the Delta quadra, reading about each type didn't help either I can't say that I don't relate to any or relate to all, I simply don't know if I do relate or not, seeing how the more I read the more confused I get, I thought I should seek assistance before I embark upon reading about the DCNH and the lead/parent subtypes.
if considering my types in other systems would do any help, here's what I'm sure about:
Enneagram core: 6(w5)
Tritype: 694
Instinctual Variants : Sp/Sx (So blind spot)
BigFive: [R]LUAI
Attitudinal Psyche (not super sure but like 60%): 1V2 2E3 3L1 4F4 (VELF)
Thanks in advance!
Hi, thanks for the question.
The problem with personality tests is that it is hard to get an accurate result unless you are absolutely sure you are answering honestly and objectively. And that can be hard to do. However, it sounds like you have tried many different tests and are always scoring either as EII or LII.
So, I would say the easiest way to tell the difference between those two types is to ask yourself how easy it is for you to accurately assess feelings, both of your own and of others. The EII can easily see and understand the way another person feels. They are excellent at reading body language, and can also often accurately determine the feelings between two individuals and the type of relationship between them. They can even see the potential relationship between two people and what is likely to develop. They are not mind readers and are not always right - but they are much more in tune with these things than an LII. They are also highly aware of their own preferences, like/dislikes, and personal feelings towards everything. Their subjective experience of their feelings is what they use to make their judgments and it guides their decisions.
In contrast, the LII has trouble accurately picking up on another person's feelings. They are also often not "in tune" with their own feelings toward people and things, because it is not what they are using to make their judgments and decisions. Instead, the LII relies on their own system of logical reasoning. Of course, LIIs do have feelings like everyone else, but their detection and understanding of emotions is weak. With weak and valued Fe, LIIs need clear, openly expressed emotions in order to be confident about them. They are not able to easily pick up on subtle cues and emotional body language the way that EIIs can. The LII may also be more likely to accidentally offend someone because they are not as aware of how their words and actions may impact the emotions of others. EIIs are also more sensitive and more easily hurt than LIIs, who are less likely to care what people think of them.
Using romantic attraction as an example, the LII is the kind of person who could be around someone for years and have no idea that the person was romantically interested in them. In contrast, the EII would have picked up on that a long time ago, because the EII is highly in tune with subtle cues and body language that give away emotions. Also, with valued Fi, the EII can often understand feelings without words or open expression. In contrast, the LII, with weak ethical functions and valued Fe, needs and prefers open, clear emotional expression. Without that, they may have no idea how another person feels or can only determine it with great difficulty. This is why LIIs are compatible with high Fe users - types like ESEs and SEIs are emotionally expressive and thus easier for the LII to understand.
Also, the EII may be more protective and secretive of their feelings than the LII. The EII is aware of their feelings and emotional reactions, but may be hesitant to make them known. In contrast, the LII may be more willing to express their feelings when prompted, but is less likely to identify what they are to begin with.
As for Quadra values, Delta emphasizes the individual unique characteristics that make us different from each other, while Alpha emphasizes the ways that we are all the same and would prefer to eliminate those differences. Democratic (Alpha and Gamma) vs. Aristocratic (Delta and Beta). Asking yourself which of those resonates more with you could further help differentiate between EII and LII.
So, I hope this helps. Both of them can appear similar on the outside, both are very reserved and analytical, but the EII understands human behavior and emotions much more easily than the LII, who may struggle in that area.
Based on your results, I think the 4 fix in your tritype combined with your Big Five result of RLUAI makes EII seem more likely, as "limbic" types are more sensitive, more easily hurt and more aware of their emotions and emotional reactions. This corresponds more with EII than LII. Also, the way that you described the process of typing yourself sounds more like an Fi/Te approach - you are searching for information (Te) and determining whether or not you can personally relate to it/share the same values (Fi). LIIs would likely take a more organized, impersonal approach of learning the personality system in depth first and then deciding where they fit within that system.

they look at the relationships as transactions so once you're no longer use to them they will be the coldest out of any quadras as far as they will work alongside you still but really have this attitude towards you that is unbelievably condescending because they believe that they are above you so it's going to be that effect that they are they are above you and you are below them and there's no changing that when a gamma decides that you are below them so again there's also hypocrisy in this Quadra where they sometimes falsely believe that they are better than other people only based on believing that they are more valuable in the sense of they have more influence because they have more money because they have more resources because they can leverage those things against you and so they are better and you're below them that is gamma Quadra essentially that's worst and the next two I'm gonna do our alpha Quadra and Delta Quadra and I have to be honest with you Delta Quadra us have some things about it that are negative but in general they are the kindest people as far as they do some of these things but they're for the most part people who are forgiving that's another thing I should mentioned here is that beta will come with for revenge in a way but it's more a beta will feel justified to do harm to you because you stepped out of line and you they feel like you betrayed the ideology the worldview you betrayed it so now I can justify my extroverted feeling  and use my force against you whereas gamma they have this because of the introverted feeling it's about revenge and only revenge it's not about justice it's about revenge so that's why I mentioned the lawyers the suing the leveraging resources you're using money against you It is the most vengeful Quadra and I would say probably the second most dangerous Quadra perhaps for some people who have a lot to lose they can be the most dangerous quadra because they can they will turn your world upside down to better themselves at their worst

I mentioned that I will write about mbti without stereotypes, at least I tried.To do this, I used my experience of communication and observation with socionics.
Tumblr media
INTJ. This is a stubborn and self-sufficient researcher. I want to note that the image of a VERY smart nerd for INTJ is really a stereotype. Since INTJ have an alpha quadra (this is a value or a mission). And in this value, everyone is jolly guys. But the exception is the strict upbringing of the INTJ. Do an INTJ do something for the soul or out of curiosity, so is it useful or profitable? Or not? INTJ don't ask such questions. Yes, they are inquisitive and expand their horizons. Therefore, this type of personality can often change their hobbies and interests. Also, INTJs do not like competition, as it takes a lot of strength and energy, so they don’t need conflict for the sake of conflict and negative emotions. But they can say what they see to their face. straightness.
INTP. They avoid a lot of emotions, so they use their logic. Therefore, if they need to leave, they will simply say that they have business and INTP will leave. INTPs have a complex relationship with emotions, so they cannot sense or anticipate other people's emotions. Because of this, when INTP plans something, it may not take into account the opinions of other people, so INTP may begin to be considered "selfish". INTP is a critic and a negativist. Usually they will come up with something, even something that is not there, and will worry or hate it.
ENTJ. Straightforward and logical people. But is naive in relationships. Yes, they know their business well or how to get something quickly and easily, but do not understand the psychological impact. Over the course of a lifetime, an ENTJ can collect a large number of templates and use them for a lifetime. So if someone in the ENTJ's social circle behaves differently, it will take them by surprise. But he will try to solve the problem. ENTJ only look at the actions that are directed at them, so if you say one thing but do another, the conclusion will be from the actions.
ENTP. They love to joke immorally. Call someone an idiot. It's all ENTP style. Since people do not like to use pain blocks, and for ENTPs this is the ethics of relationships. They don't like the topic of relationships. Since this makes him plunge into the analysis of their own actions in relation to other people. ENTP see the world through a wide range of ideas and opportunities. Therefore, we live once and do everything that interests us, what if the sign "dangerous" is lying?
Tumblr media
ENFJ. Feel the emotions of others very well. Even rather shades of human behavior. They see well the bad that is customary to hide in society. This happens unconsciously when trying to bring a person into conflict and analyze how the other person will act. Therefore, the ENFJ is like a dog in an airport looking for a criminal. ENFJ do not want to judge anyone, but will only say what is necessary to the face. ENFJ believe if you are their friend, then act like a friend, but if you make a mistake, then it is fatal.
INFP. This type is immersed in his inner world and fixated on the present time inside their fantasies. It can be noted that INFPs do not want to take money for their work, especially if it is a hobby. They can easily obstragirovatsya and believe in the best. Freedom is very important to them, but order is needed, as they can quickly relax and lose energy while lying on the couch. Routine work is slavery, so if there is no freedom in life, then there is no INFP in life. Because of this, memes about suicide appeared.
INFJ. The most comfortable. Usually INFJ inspires confidence in other people, as this type of personality finds its own individual approach to everyone, to share revelations. Attuned to changes in interpersonal relationships. Usually INFJ is a mirror, INFJ seem to be trying on someone else's image. Due to global thinking and emphasis on the ethical component, INFJ divide people into groups. Often they try to resolve the conflict quickly or not even start. Therefore, it is easier for them to forget or forgive the person who told them rudeness.
ENFP. Easily maintains friendly relations, especially if it brings a lot of positive and interesting events. But ENFP will not communicate with someone else, as this is a very reasonable type of personality. But on an intuitive level, the ENFP know if this person is theirs or not. Only at close range can one recognize this positive person as a rational person. Thinks ENFP very spontaneously from one thought to another.
Tumblr media
ISTJ. They look at the world through his logic, so if you don't like their logic, you can leave. Therefore, the ISTJ is very picky about people so that other people are close to their opinion and logic. The longer the relationship with the ISTJ, then more rules may appear, but it depends on the upbringing. It can be noted that since childhood, ISTJ set its own rules. And in order to bring them back from heaven to earth, others need to throw a tantrum. An ISTJ can become bored in a relationship with a calm person.
ISFJ. They usually want to know more so that nothing bad happens. But at the same time, ESFJs are afraid of the new and the unknown. Therefore, this type is inherently suspicious. Unlike ENTJ, ISFJ draw conclusions from words, not from actions. Trying to change someone. This type of personality is not conflict, but if a quarrel have already occurred, then he will begin to lecture. It is also important for ISFJs to have a plan and understanding of their future. And ISFJs are very loyal friends, and it is difficult for them to part with a person if they have a lot of memories.
ESTJ. They are always ready to meet the problem face to face. A very tense personality type. Because of this, ESTJs can get busy and work hard, which is why they can be called a "robot" and it's normal for ESTJs to forget about their condition. If some kind of chaos is going on around them, then ESTJ is cut off and continues to work. Therefore, at work, the ESTJ do not pretend to work.
ESFJ. They spend a lot of his energy on communication. Who sees what alone and sees who, who is. Able to compare and draw conclusions from this. ESFJ switch between modes, so if they have moved home, it will be difficult to get them outside. Any changes or innovations stress the ESFJ. There is a distinctive feature of the ESFJ "If something helped me, then it will help you too" or "It's delicious, so it will be delicious for you too." And if someone wants to prove that it doesn't work that way, it will be very difficult.
Tumblr media
ISFP. Their stereotypical positive attitude has a place to be. An emotion-driven personality type, meaning if an ISFP is in a good mood, they will go out and buy something to please themselves. ISFP will not look at their financial condition, if they have enough money for some kind of purchase, they will take it. ISFPs are masters of emotions, so they can help other people and fix their emotional state for better or worse.
ESFP. The type of people who do first, think later. And if because of this they did something bad, they do not find a place for themselves and there is no forgiveness for themselves. They try to gather everyone and chat everyone. Also, ESFP believe that they should do everything perfectly, and then get praise. Often they believe that they are doing their job better than anyone else, and more often this is self-deception. If you point out that their work is nothing, then congratulations ESFP think you're an idiot. And if ESFPs like you, it shows in the way they listen to you, then talk about themselves, even admitting their shortcomings.
ISTP. Bring in the soul, but not in words. Therefore, ISTP will not say something beautiful and poetic, but this type of person tries to do and show his feelings by this. They put their soul and feelings into their actions. ISTP see problems and do not idealize others. If you don't like something, you say it straight to your face. It can also be noted that ISTPs have a "creative" clutter that they don't notice. But in chaos, they always find everything they need, but if they get tired of this dump, they can take it apart. A very picky personality type, as convenience is important to them.
ESTP. When they want something, they always try to achieve it through participation in all events and ESTP take responsibility for the "parties". ESTP can always make logical arguments in their favor. And if ESTP don't get what they want because of some other person, then that other person may look stupid, because ESTP's arguments are ironclad. Can often tell others what to do so that the result is faster and better. But this is not out of malice, and if his actions lead to hatred towards the ESTP, it can drive them into a corner and lower their social activity.

SEE (ESFp) vs ESE (ESFj)
With these two types, you have an aggressor (SEE) versus a caregiver (ESE) from opposite quadras.  Basically, the SEE will want to push you out of your comfort zone, while the ESE will want to create that comfort zone.
Lead Se (4D - SEE, Valued) vs. Se Demonstrative (4D - ESE, Unvalued)
SEE types like pushing themselves, physically, to the max. They seek out intense physical challenges that are difficult for them. For example, if an SEE goes rock climbing, it's because they want to do something challenging and prove that they are capable of 'conquering' it.  If someone can’t keep up with them, they may see them as weak.  They can appear competitive, domineering, and aggressive at times.  Use of physical force is seen as something natural to them, they may see roughness and aggression as playful and they may be confused if others criticize them for it.
ESEs, in contrast, are not as concerned with pushing themselves for the sake of a challenge.  They engage in physical experiences primarily because they are pleasant and enjoyable. If an ESE goes rock climbing, it's because they think it's fun and they like the feeling it gives them. The 4D Se in the ESE makes them athletic and capable of taking on difficult physical challenges. They have a lot of energy for performing physical activities. However, they don't typically seek out physical experiences just for the challenge. They can protect themselves and others if necessary, but they prefer not to use aggression and are usually gentle, docile people.
Creative Fi (3D - SEE, Valued) vs. Fi Ignoring (3D - ESE, Unvalued)
SEEs are very aware of who they like and dislike, and can quickly and easily build relationships that can help them attain their Se-driven goals.  They often like to be 'in charge' of social situations and expect to be the undisputed leader in social groups (Se-Fi). They are aware of the power dynamics of social situations, and will desire for themselves to hold the upper hand in interactions.  They may put particular focus on certain individuals who have what they are looking for, while not paying as much attention to others.  They are also highly aware of and respectful of individual traits and characteristics, and will usually not force everyone to join the group or participate if they don’t want to.
ESEs, on the other hand, try to engage everyone equally and want everyone to be included. They tend to assume everyone wants to be included, even if that is not the case.  The ESE overlooks individual personality traits and characteristics in favor of the overall collective atmosphere.  It is more important to them that everyone participate and be a part of something together, regardless of their own personal preferences.
Role Ne (2D - SEE, Unvalued) vs. Mobilizing Ne (2D - ESE, Valued)
SEEs want to appear like adventurous people who are always seeking something new.  They often are looking for new experiences, but these are physical experiences rooted in reality.  They are not easily able to see possibilities and opportunities, and may show little interest in fantasy and abstract ideas, especially if they can’t be applied to the real world.  They can quickly grow tired of discussions involving “what could be”.  They would rather take action than speculate, and may see such discussions as a waste of time.
ESEs also have weak Ne, but unlike SEEs, they are fascinated by fantastical, abstract ideas, even if they have no rooting in reality.  Like the Alpha NTs, they may have an interest in science fiction and enjoy discussing strange and unusual ideas, crazy inventions (Ne-Ti), and future possibilities.  They enjoy talking about “what could be”, even if they don’t intend to take action right away.  These types of discussions are highly enjoyable for them and can inspire them.
Vulnerable Ti (1D - SEE, Unvalued) vs. Ti Suggestive (1D - ESE, Valued)
SEEs are impulsive and often act without thinking things through.  They hate having rules or structure imposed on them, and may see them as a restriction of their freedom.  They also often do not have the patience for lengthy, detailed explanations.  They will grow bored of any attempt to explain or define a concept in depth.  They are primarily interested in the necessary information needed to do the task.  “What do I need to know?”  And then they will be quick to act based on that.
In contrast, ESEs will eagerly listen to in-depth, detailed explanations of concepts.  They want clarity and seek to understand things in their entirety.  They highly respect people who can provide clear definitions to concepts and can think things through logically (Stratiyevskaya).  They also appreciate structure and will often try to act within a framework that they have accepted.  They see rules and structure as comforting rather than restrictive.
Ni Suggestive (1D - SEE, Valued) vs. Vulnerable Ni (1D - ESE, Unvalued)
The SEE often acts without thinking of the consequences.  They don’t think much about what is going to happen in the future, but they highly respect people who can give them some insight and clarity into it.  They appreciate someone who can tell them which steps are most beneficial to take in the future (which Gamma NTs, due to their strong Ni-Te, do naturally) and want someone who can point out the right path and enable them to make good decisions.  A person who knows which steps to take for the best possible future outcome is a person who can save the SEE from wasting time, and this is one of their most valuable resources.
Time is also a valuable resource for the ESE, but they may never feel that they have enough of it.  Thinking about the future is a source of stress for the ESE, and unlike the SEE, they may be irritated by any attempts to tell them what they should do for the future and what decision to make.  Like the SEE, they may be constantly in a hurry and constantly rushing around (Stratiyevskaya).  But in contrast to the SEE, speaking about the future does not calm them or give them confidence.  It only stresses them out even more.  They already feel overwhelmed enough with making use of the time they have in the present moment.
Activating Te (2D - SEE, Valued) vs. Te Role (2D - ESE, Unvalued)
The SEE loves working with efficient people who can get things done effectively, and they strive to be this way themselves. They like being the leader and can be seen as bossy.  They are confident that they know how to get things done quickly, and appreciate hard workers who know how to accomplish tasks well.
The ESE also likes to be seen as a productive, efficient person.  They may always be busy and appear to be completing many different tasks, but this will usually be done in an ineffective way, and they may waste a lot of time and energy doing unnecessary things.  The tasks they prioritize are often driven by social concerns and a desire to please others rather than real efficiency.
Si Ignoring (3D - SEE, Unvalued) vs. Si Creative (3D - ESE, Valued)
Harmony, comfort, coziness?  The SEE is aware of these things, they just don’t care much about them.  In their opinion, it’s much more fun to force yourself through strenuous physical challenges than it is to worry about maintaining comfort.  They may be health conscious, but place a lot of emphasis on physical exertion.  They may overwork themselves and pay little attention to rest and relaxation.  They may even see the need for relaxation as a sign of weakness or laziness, a belief common to all the Gamma types.
In contrast, the ESE desires to create harmony, comfort, and coziness.  They are natural caregivers.  They want to make sure everyone is comfortable and taken care of.  They enjoy taking care of the physical needs of others.  Hands-on tasks such as cooking and sewing may come naturally to ESEs and they genuinely like being able to take care of others.  They try to create the relaxation that SEEs may see as unimportant.
Fe Demonstrative (4D - SEE, Unvalued) vs. Fe Lead (4D - ESE, Valued)
The SEE is expressive and can come across as emotionally dramatic at times.  They don’t try to hold their emotions in, but they also aren’t consciously using their emotions in any particular way.  If they feel something, it just comes out.  They may try to be cheerful and blend into the group atmosphere, and can often easily become the center of attention, but if something irritates them, they are not going to hide it.  They can be engaging and entertaining, but it all depends on their own mood and how they are feeling.
ESEs, on the other hand, try to engage others and create a positive emotional mood regardless of how they themselves personally feel. One of their main concerns is whether or not people are enjoying themselves and having a good time.  These are the types of people who see the person standing alone in the corner and will go over to them, engage them in friendly conversation, try to make them smile and laugh and then bring them into the larger group.  If someone appears emotionally unexpressive, they may mistakenly think that the person is unhappy and may try to get them to “open up”.  This is because Fe relies on external indications of emotion.

Star Trek: Voyager
Tumblr media
Yes this show ended some time ago; that doesn’t mean that it’s not still underrated.
A relative late convert to Star Trek, this author committed to traversing the Delta Quadrant having finished The Original Series, The Next Generation, Discovery & Picard to date. Deep Space Nine is next; like the Doctor I don’t know anything about this ‘Dominion’ but they seem important and we’ll get there.
Having now finished Voyager, here’s the (spoiler-filled) thoughts of someone who came to the bridge afresh and savoured the light-hearted nature of the show. Yes TNG demanded more attention and the episodes herein that do are generally better, but for relaxed, semi-serialised adventure Voyager is a high point.
We’ll start with the negative and get to the fun stuff.
From the get-go there was a jarring disconnect between the premise and goals of the show. If a ship more advanced than any in the region is travelling really fast in one direction they’re not going to keep running into the same people; better begetting a saga poised for episodic rather than serialised fiction. The writers and audience were evidently a little tired at this point of TNG’s slavish devotion to wrapping everything up in 40-odd minutes so wanted to try variations on a theme; it was the right approach for the time accompanied by a smart premise that didn’t match.
And a stellar premise it was only set to be buoyed by the Federation-Marquis dynamic. Also partly squandered, corresponding grounds for strong tension and stories were left by the wayside – characterised by Chakotay’s ill-established, apparently immediate and seemingly endless trust in Janeway; together major failings of the show.
On continuity, and just so it’s out of the way; no they don’t show it but it’s clear the crew just manufactured more photon torpedoes like they did so much else.
Commencing with one of the best episodes, there is rarely a subsequent moment as character-defining as Janeway destroying the array. Don’t get me wrong, Kate Mulgrew is great, but she alike Kirk and Picard are, as fleshed out as they become, for stretches bare variations on a tired theme; young headstrong hotshot dedicates their life to the stars to become a reasoned, seasoned Commander. ‘Tapestry’ did it best and there was no need to explore this further.
Voyager had a general problem with characters that took several seasons to grow; it was a long time before Neelix stopped being grating and his earnestness became endearing. There is too very little you can relay about Tuvak beyond his being a Vulcan and a little sardonic, or Harry besides his yearning for advancement or Chakotay aside his membership of the Marquis and focus on his cultural background.
The stand-out worst episode of the entire show was Chakotay finding out that the Sky Spirits central to his people’s religion were actually from the Delta Quadrant; you can garner Robert Beltran’s clear ambivalence (at best) to such material. This author is aware of the significant tension between the actor and others on set; I can understand the frustration at a lead cast member belittling the series in public but the directions and emphasis the character took in later seasons was something else, as were the music cues whenever his or some others’ cultures came up.
Star Trek, and notably The Original Series, is often (but not always) shrewd for both telling stories addressing the place of culture, religion and community in people’s lives while not overly if at all drawing attention to particular characters’ backgrounds. To Beltran’s credit, he only made the disaffection perceptible on screen in the episodes that were of poor taste, as opposed to the ones that were just bad. There are many lousy episodes of The Original Series but what near always makes it enjoyable is Shatner et al’s absolute commitment to the bit. One of the very worst episodes of Voyager is the one where Harry is lead to believe that he’s actually from a planet in the Delta Quadrant full of attractive women; yet no one in Star Trek ever needs to look bored reading their lines. There are good ones and bad ones and we’re along for the whole ride.
There’s also that one where Tom and the Captain turn into salamanders, start life on a random planet and somehow transform back into their usual selves with these shenanigans never brought up again. Yeah that was awful but it was preceded by a generally decent few acts centred on exceeding warp limits; reputation aside it wasn’t quite down there.
On Alpha Quadrant folks being in the Delta Quadrant, as much as I missed the Klingons they did not need to rock up latently and near the very end; there were plenty of better ways to give B’Elanna an arc. One of the more interesting characters, she offered a variation on Worf’s overwhelming pride as a Klingon, though she barely got enough episodes to shine and these were predominantly featured much later on. And when the show stopped pretending Tom was the cocky pilot we’ve seen dozens of times before he too managed to get a whole lot more interesting.
It would have made a lot more sense for McNeill to just directly continue his character from TNG’s ‘The First Duty;’ alas.
Also welcome were the insights into the Borg; even if they became a lot less eerie it was great to learn that much more about them, though nothing, save the introduction of Seven, bettered the recuperating drones who were the ship’s first Borg encounter. The Borg children were also very funny (the related Voyager pick-ups in Picard were excellent) and should have stayed on the ship longer so Seven could say more things like “fun will now commence;” she can only say “Naomi Wildman” deadpan, as good as it was, so many times.
Heralded by such a superb actress, Seven and the Doctor thrillingly shared dual arcs akin but distinct to Data’s and each other’s, permitting us to relish their gradual growth and revel in their leaps forward. Seven’s narrowing down of eligible crewmen, unlike Chakotay’s later courting, was a particular highlight, as was her month of isolation when the crew were in stasis and the one where the Doctor overtook her node.
The Doctor however emerges the best character, far and above all others save the near as interesting Seven. Picardo’s charisma and stage presence, well-befitting an exaggeratedly humanistic, bombastic piece of programming, only propelled the most relatable arcs in the series; his desire to fit in and, as any, make a contribution. The Doctor’s opening number in ‘Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy,’ but one occasion where Picardo’s vocal abilities were graciously integrated into the series, by this author’s judgement is the funniest sequence in seven seasons.
‘Message in a Bottle’ with the Doctor centre was too among the very best of the series. Mining any opportunity for comedy we can nonetheless be grateful, alike TNG, that they kept the bald jokes to about one per season.
As asides, it was lovely to see Reginald Barclay return and realise his aspirations in one of the best and most heart-warming episodes of the saga, while the singular and very obvious inspiration one episode draws from Predator proved amusing for just being so unabashed.
‘Scorpion’ was amazing as was anything to do with Species 8472. Captain Proton, acknowledging the entire franchise’s schlocky roots, was a definite recurring highlight, with Mulgrew in one installment clearly having no end of fun alike the cast’s enjoyable turns in late 90’s Los Angeles alongside Sarah Silverman. Speaking of guest stars, seeing The Rock was a nice surprise though with hindsight they may never have cast him given Star Trek shrewdly chose to not have celebrity appearances overshadow the show. But hey, they can’t see the future; at least cleverly opting to obscure Jason Alexander in piles of costuming.
‘Year of Hell’ is good, but the premise befitted an entire season and alike the lacklustre finale nothing really matters (with some well-executed exceptions) if you can just go back in or erase time. There were many, many episodes that shouldn’t have been contained within forty minutes and deserved longer-form devotion, ala ‘30 Days.’ ‘Timeless’was a much better (and unusually technically-focused) variation on the aforementioned themes and it was fun to catch Geordi, as it was Deanna and especially Sulu. ‘The Omega Directive’ was cool; ‘The Thaw’ was great.
The fable-esque nature of the franchise has always been enjoyable and digestible given the show is partially aimed at kids, though there are episodes where it’s just a little too direct, and characters take a little too much pause. ‘Alice,’ the one where Tom almost cheats with his ship as an overly obvious parallel about why you shouldn’t have sex with other people if you have a girlfriend, if a good lesson, in execution was a tad much.
On reflection this author was surprised to discover some of the least generally favoured episodes, among them the Fairhaven double. It may be my great personal affection for Ireland but it makes perfect sense that given the time available this sort of world would be created and characters might pursue holo-relationships, a theme underexplored in Voyager yet still covered to great effect. The established technical deficiencies of holo-technology in such regular use should not come as a surprise when they recur.
The one where Kes comes back was actually a later highlight; her character was never very well handled and no it wasn’t that blast off into the sunset but sometimes old friends lose their way and it’s the job of old friends to set them on the right path.
Most surprising was the dislike directed at ‘Tuvix.’ The difference between Voyager and much heavier sci-fi is that herein characters make a lot of decisions that are hard, not ones that are difficult. The destruction of the array was devastating but not morally questionable within the confines of the show. As a tangent, you could argue that had Janeway made the decision to return to the Alpha Quadrant at the beginning of the series that it would have been the morally correct decision given that, as we see in ‘Hope and Fear,’ another highlight, the ship would not otherwise have been a factor in much disorder and destruction. The show was not however so expansive philosophically as to greatly tread such ground as the franchise otherwise managed in the likes of ‘City on the Edge of Forever.’
In ‘Tuvix’ Janeway, a figure, like Chakotay, who often shifted characterisation to fit the requirements of any given story, was faced with a difficult decision with no easy moral out nor ethically unquestionable approach. It was a refreshing change and correspondingly dark denouement to boot apparent in the likes of ‘Latent Image,’ another fine instalment with the Doctor.
‘Eye of the Needle,’ the only episode this author has watched twice to date and a deeply empathetic early high point, save ‘Balance of Terror’ is the best treatment of the guarded but necessarily relatable Romulans (I haven’t seen all the movies!). ‘The Void’ bookends the show as a later stand out while the in respects not dissimilar ‘Night’ bears one of the darkest challenges and finest, most resonant endings.
This brings us to the ‘best episode;’ one featured regularly in top ten lists but seemingly not a very favourite.
‘Blink of an Eye’ is everything that is exceptional and aspirational about Star Trek. Stranded in the stratosphere of a planet where time passes with greater rapidity, the curious presence of Voyager in the skies begins to influence the society to the point where the inhabitants develop space travel to face the spectre.
A commentary on the Prime Directive as deft as any and a relatively novel variation on both the time travel and petri dish tropes resplendent throughout sci-fi and Star Trek, the episode is also a fabulous meta-commentary on the place of the franchise in popular culture much less crude than Janeway bemoaning the Doctor’s fleeting interplanetary fans’ obsession with every aspect of his personal life. Incorporating a fair bit more science than is typically par, the astronaut’s moving decision to help them, as with his staring into the heavens as Voyager finally departs, speaks to the selfless ethos and sense of overwhelming curiosity so intrinsic to the most basic lore of Star Trek, the most beloved episodes and all that Gene Roddenberry best achieved.
It’s also an amazing meditation on first contact principles and pitfalls which unlike many episodes doesn’t borrow story bones from TNG.
A more than welcome reprieve from a pandemic, I didn’t spend as long in the Delta Quadrant as the crew but for what I did I was glad to relish with them.
Star Trek: Voyager is now streaming on Netflix

sis...you didn't read up on socionics at all, did you? the quadras were named that long before the recent furry depravity came upon us. here, an easy memory trick: alpha quadra = spring (Ne/Fe), beta = summer (Fe/Se), gamma = autumn (Se/Te), and delta = winter (Te/Ne). why must i, an infp, teach you, an istj, this
sorry but that’s were you are mistaken. socionics was made up by a well known Latvian Superwholock fan and fanfiction author who travelled back in time after discovering that the Tardis is real and Carl Jung himself was a furry and she felt obligated to continue his legacy.

Socionics: (+/− Functions)
(source) - Russian translation
"The sign of a function in socioanalysis transmits the following aspects. First, it indicates the quality of the function: "+" a positive assessment of the quality, "−" a negative evaluation. Second, it indicates the scale of function: "+" means details, specifics, "−" means large scale, a general plan, a global consideration. Third, it indicates the distance of the effect of the function: "+" means that the function manifests at a short distance from the reference point, "−" means at a far distance. Fourth, the sign reflects the direction of the function: "+" means addition, acceptance, movement towards oneself, "−" means separation, return, movement away from oneself [1]. The term "aspects", used by V. V. Gulenko here, carries the connotation of "the contextual side of properties of functions."
Quality
+ sign - the "positive", competence in the positive zone of properties and incompetence in the negative zone;
− sign - withdrawal from the "negative", leaving negative properties for positive ones, competence in both positive and negative zones;
Scale
+ sign - locality, the "big plan", concretization, detalization within the sphere of the function;
− sign - globality, "the general plan," universality of the function;
Direction
+ sign - the orientation into the sphere of the responsibility of the function (interest in protection of "own circle");
− sign - the orientation outside of the sphere of responsibility of the function (influence, "pressure" exerted on other "localities");
Distance
+ sign - "close" psychological distance;
− sign - "far" psychological distance.
Basing on the proposed placement of signs of functions, we can decipher the meaning of each of combination. Socionic functions ... carry, in our view, the following semantic content:
+ Fe  - positive emotions, joy, merriment, emotional elation, excitement, a smile, laughter, enthusiasm, optimism, good mood, the experience of happiness;
− Fe  - negative emotions, grief, sorrow, sadness, emotional recession, depression, crying, tears, frustration, pessimism, poor mood, the experience of unhappiness;
+ Fi  - good relations, love, friendship, affection, attraction, warmth in relations, sociability, close psychological distance, goodness, compassion;
− Fi  - poor relations, hatred, animosity, antipathy, repulsion, indifference in relations, alienation, unsociability, remote psychological distance, wickedness, mercilessness;
+ Te  - useful, beneficial, economical, technology, facts, acquisition, stockpiling, purchases, savings, bringing order, practicality;
− Te  - useless, unprofitable, wasteful, utilization, deterioration, exhaustion, costs, expenses, risk-taking, experimentation, sales, trade, action in atmosphere of chaos, ingenuity;
+ Ti  - specificity, itemization, detailed study, thoroughness, accuracy, strictness, place in hierarchy, regulations, instructions, choosing the best option, precision of function, logic of organization, indicators, reporting;
− Ti  - abstractness, generality, universality, system, classification, typology, general regularities, objectivity, truth, justice, comprehensive review, analysis, dissection, the logic of science, criteria;
+ Ne  - prospects, opportunities, positive potential, core meaning, essence, principle, new ideas, advancing hypotheses, theory, insight, interest, originality, unusual, fantastical, hopefulness;
− Ne  - hopelessness, alternatives, negative potential, meaninglessness, absurdity, paradox, the forgotten and the old, insight, mediocrity, commonness, repressed possibilities, reality, disbelief, sensation[hit];
+ Ni  - future, change in the situation over time, prediction, premonition, gradual development, evolution, gradual ascent, the dynamics of change, the flow of time, imagination, harmonious description, subtle step-by-step changes, convergence, confluence;
− Ni  - past, accounting for errors, avoidance of danger, anxiety, a worrying premonition, a warning, the ripening of a crisis, revolution, a leap in time, ability to hedge against troubles, sudden shifts, discordant description, the moment of decisive action, divergence, deviation;
+ Se  - retention of power, insubordination, defense, cover, countermove, counterattack, firmness, defense of one's interests, strong-willed pressure from the bottom upwards, strength, will, possession;
− Se  - capture of power, subjugation, offensive attack, initiative, perseverance, determination, demands, strong-willed pressure from top downwards, the assertion of own interests at the expense of others, overthrowing, appropriating, weakness, passivity;
+ Si  - pleasant sensations, comfort, convenience, harmony, beauty, attraction, leisure, health, relaxation, well-being, pleasure, enjoyment, sensitivity;
− Si  - unpleasant thrill sensations, discomfort, inconvenience, disharmony, ugliness, unattractiveness, work, fatigue, stress, illness, suffering, pain [1].
"The plus (+) sign is usually associated with a trait of sustainability, immobility, while minus (–) sign is associated with a trait of transience, mobility. An example from physics: negatively charged electrons are in motion around the positively charged atomic nucleus. Consequently, the static trait is positive and dynamic trait is negative”
“I will be considering the top ring of model A, irrespective of which sociotype is being considered, as the static one, and the bottom ring – as the dynamic one. The ring of stabilization (top ring) is, therefore, a carrier of positive charge, and the ring of development (lower ring) is thus negatively charged. The ring of stabilization can thus be considered functional, and the ring of development – dysfunctional."
ALPHA: (-)Judging/(+)Perceiving
LII (-Ti/+Ne), ESE (-Fe/+Si), SEI (+Si/-Fe), ILE (+Ne/-Ti)
-Fe = minimization or avoidance of negative emotions, prevention of quarrels, scandals, and other situations causing emotional instability, which is valued as more important than creation of positive emotional effect.
-Ti = global structural logic. Systematic analysis is the instrument that they use in understanding the world. They are primarily interested in the universal laws that govern its workings. To that end, all traditions, conventions and restrictions are discarded. Everything is subjected to analysis, redefinition, analogies. Their main goal that they are pursuing is the creation of a comprehensive, breathtaking, singular picture of the world. The idea of unity, reasonableness and the fairness in all things permeates their vision completely.
+Si = positive feelings of comfort. They cannot effectively realize their potential if their lifestyle is full of hardships. Style of activity is characterized by relaxation, freedom, by conveniences. Relations with the external environment, where their activities unfold, must be friendly and pleasant. Their groups are always comfortable, relaxed as if at home, and never rough or eccentric.
+Ne = promising ideas. In this quadra, which can be attributed the element of air, there are frequent talks about the future, the unexplored and unknown possibilities. They may seem to be incorrigible dreamers. And this is so: they look out further than anyone, beyond the horizon, they put forward "crazy" theories and discuss them with pleasure. Some of these theories, however, are destined to have long lives, so long that they will outlast their creators.
BETA: (+)Judging/(-)Perceiving
LSI (+Ti/-Se), EIE (+Fe/-Ni), IEI (-Ni/+Fe), SLE (-Se/+Ti)
+Fe = maximization of positive emotions. Even small doses are enjoyed. Against the backdrop of the dramatic, turbulent emotions that always accompany this quadra, every small occurrence deserving a positive response is seen as an occasion for joy and uplifts their spirits.
+Ti = organizational logic. They have a developed sense of duty, citizenship, loyalty to the elected project. It is therefore the most disciplined and organized quadra that knows how to quickly rally its forces in the event of imminent danger or emergency situations.
-Se = minimization of weaknesses, i.e. steadfastness in the struggle against deprivation and resistance against the enemy. In this quadra, the force of will is an indispensable condition for effective operation. Persistence, determination, endurance and firmness are always the supreme authority.
-Ni = desire to bypass danger. They aim to avoid previously committed mistakes. In their groups, experience, skill, know-how, sophistication are highly valued. They feel confident in extreme situations.
GAMMA: (-)Judging/(+)Perceiving
ESI (-Fi/+Se), LIE (-Te/+Ni), ILI (+Ni/-Te), SEE (+Se/-Fi)
-Fi = minimization of negative relationships. This element is critical of evil. They desire to get away from bad people and poor relationships, and to protect themselves from enemies and adversaries. They want to minimize negative experiences, because as we know from psychoanalysis, all extruded problems are liable to generate an emotional reaction one way or another, with a physical cost for the purification of the subconscious.
-Te = business logic of risk and entrepreneurship. For them it is characteristic to reject that which is useless, insignificant, mundane. This aspect is valued as more important than accumulation and rational consumption. Gammas successfully operate in environments of economic scarcity, where in order to survive it is necessary to use something that may appear useless at first glace, but which is present in abundance.
+Se = durability and resistance. This quadra is well capable of defending itself and its position. For them power is not easy to acquire, as to do this they must resist the volitional Beta quadra. However, once it is seized, they can hold on to it despite all attempts at restoration. Protectiveness, ability to defend themselves against all force, ability to keep that which was acquired - these are the principles that they respect. This quadra can be called the quadra of criticism and reforms. In contrast to the 'fire' Beta quadra, which is oriented primarily politically, this quadra is oriented more socially.
+Ni = constraining their hot temper, these sociotypes prefer to advance gradually into the future, though they may sharply reject obsolete ideas, criticizing past mistakes. Advancing step by step, they generally believe in the linearity of development, i.e. according to their deep convictions, it is only necessary to remove obstacles, remnants of the past, and immediately this will open endless possibilities for growth. This quadra is not afraid of chaos and upheavals: they know how to conduct their work under conditions of change, risk and confusion.
DELTA: (+)Judging/(-)Perceiving
EII (+Fi/-Ne), LSE (+Te/-Si), SLI (-Si/+Te), IEE (-Ne/+Fi)
+Fi = positive, warm relationships. Psychological factors play a vital role for them. Without recognition of ethical values such as individuality and the uniqueness of others, religion and spirituality, non-interference in others lives, concrete humanism, etc., the stability they strongly desire is hardly possible.
+Te = logic of use and rational management of resources. This is the most cost-conscious quadra that consumes rationally and prefers high-quality long-lasting products. Risk, rushed jobs, economic chaos and manipulation are not characteristic of this quadra. The society of quality consumption should be stable.
-Si = minimization of discomfort. They value good working conditions and are reluctant to change their routines. This element excludes harmful influences from external environment. This quadra cannot work during emergencies. They highly value convenience, comfort at their workplace, and good coordination at work.
-Ne = the unusual, alternative and bizarre. Despite its groundedness, this quadra respects unusual and talented people who offer creative alternative possibilities. The spread of new information is not impeded, no matter how avant-garde it might be. In Delta groups, there occur periodic flashes of sensationalism and spikes of interest centered around original people who put forward alternative ideas of development.

Ever since that one night you had head Isaac scream in terror, your relationship changed forever. You had stayed over at Scott's to finish a Spanish project due for the next morning, but first thing you knew, he had fallen asleep on his books, leaving you to finish it alone. You were determined to have it done with or without him, so you had been awake unusually late for that reason. It had been around the time Isaac was crashing at Scott's, right after Derek lost his alpha status. The scream that pierced the silent house chilled you to the bones, so much it also woke Scott up in a jump. You had stood up and ran upstairs, ignoring Scott's warning to wait for him. You had busted through the door, only to see the poor boy in sweats, breathing alarmingly fast.  That night, you had stayed with him, softly talking him back to sleep. He had fallen back asleep in your laps, with your hand playing with his hair. From that moment, something more intimate settled in between you two, something that wasn't really spoken but that was definitely there.
You never thought you'd ever be close to Isaac. You were from two very different crowds, but now it really didn't surprise you, considering all the crazy things that had happened in the last years. You had started off in Lydia's clique, then you had gravitated toward Scott's after being bitten by Peter, as a "collateral damage", he had so well explained to you. Just like Lydia, you hadn't transformed into a werewolf on the next full moon. You had instead developed another kind of power, which explained a lot about how you seemed to be the only one that could get Isaac to calm down.
Again, that's something you could have never expected at the beginning of sophomore year.  "Ok so I think number 12 should be done with the quadra...." You trailed off when you noticed the kitchen had become way too silent. "Scott?" No answer. You turned your head and saw him sprawled on the lazy boy in the living room, mouth open and sleeping. You checked the time, and it was only 1:24 am. Late for everyone, but Scott usually stayed up way past that. "Scott, I know you can hear me" You began softly, knowing the wolf part of him could and would hear you. "I may be the poster child for a zen lifestyle, but I swear to god, if you don't wake up and help me finish your homework, I'll stop doing it for you" You waited a few seconds, until he stirred and cracked his eyes open. "What..." "Thank god you're awake" You smiled. "Get your ass back here and help me finish the homework, which is by the way yours" He yawned and stood up, slowly making his way to the kitchen. He shielded his eyes at the brighter light and pulled a chair beside you, rubbing the sleep off of his eyes. "Where are we?" "Number twe--" You were interrupted by a loud cry coming from upstairs, and it seemed particularly painful, enough to make Scott flinch. You nodded at him and went upstairs, quietly sneaking in his room. He was sitting up straight, eyes wide open and barely breathing. His eyes were frantically moving around the room, like he was searching for an escape that wasn't there. "Isaac?" You tried in a gentle voice. "It's alright, I'm here" His head snapped in your direction, but his glance was somewhere else entirely. "Please, please don't" He begged, tears in his eyes. He was terrified. "I'm sorry, please" "I won't hurt you" You slowly walked toward the bed. "And I won't let anyone hurt you anymore either" "I don't wanna go back!" He screamed, his breathing becoming even shallower by the second. "I swear I won't do it again!" "Ise, wake up" You sat at the end of the bed, at arms length from him in case he subconsciously lashed out. "It's okay" "I said I don't wanna go" His eyes glowed yellow as his claws and fangs came out. You knew what was about to happen, but you didn't jump back. No, instead you acted on impulse. As he leaned forward to scratch you, you lifted your palm and pressed it flat against his heart, eyes squeezed shut for the impact of his claws.  But it never came.  You opened your eyes when you felt a breeze in your hair and came face to face with a very confused and out of breath Isaac. You smiled to yourself; you had done it.  You and Isaac took a moment to admire the new view you had been projected onto. You were now on the edge of a cliff, staring at a gorgeous sunset and listening to a nearby waterfall. It was truly a calming scene, and that's what you had aimed for.  "W-Where are we?" He stuttered once he came back to himself.  "Technically, in my mind" You replied as you let out a breath of relief. "Figuratively, not sure. Finland, I think" "How-- How did we get here?" He asked, blinking rapidly. "How did you do that?" "I'm not entirely sure either" You shook your head slightly. "That's what my powers look like when they're used properly I guess" "I thought you could make people see things" He furrowed his eyebrows. "This feels... Real" "To be completely honest, I took a chance" You sighed as you sat down, your feet dangling over the edge. You patted the spot beside you and he joined you. "I had no idea it would work. It never did, not for that long and definitely not this good" "You've tried it before?" He glanced sideway at you.  "With Scott" You nodded. "I panicked as I was doing it and accidently sent him into a frozen hellscape of anxiety. Nonetheless to say, he never came back for round two" He scoffed playfully. "Well, that's reassuring" "Yeah, sorry" You scratched the back of your neck. "I wouldn't have tried it on you without your consent if it hadn't been an emergency" He stayed silent for a couple of seconds, looking down at his hands folded in his laps. "Another nightmare uh?" He mumbled. "Mmh" You hummed. "I couldn't wake you up this time, and you went all wolf on me" "Oh my god, did I hurt you?" His face contorted in horror. "(Y/N) I am so sorry--" "You didn't" You reassured him with a hand on his shoulder. "I brought you here before you got to me" "Thank god" He heaved a sigh of relief. "I would never want to hurt you, I'm sorry" "I know that, you don't have to apologize" You smiled at him as your hand travelled to his cheek. He leaned in your touch and finally looked up at you. "You said you brought me here" He changed the subject, but didn't make a move to get away. "Did we physically disappear, or are we still there?" "We're still in Scott's guest bedroom" You answered. "He's probably watching us staring at each other and not moving. Well, I hope he's not doing that, it'd be weird" "Yeah" He chuckled, before becoming serious again. "Thank you. Thank you for doing this, and I mean it" "I'm just glad I can help" You half shrugged as you slid your hand down and retracted it back to yourself.  "Can we stay here a little while longer?" He suddenly asked. "Or would that take too much of a strain on you?" "We sure can, I'll be just fine" You smiled softly.  He nodded and stared into the distance, shifting uneasily on his sitting position. You could tell something was still bothering him, but he was hesitant to share it with you. You followed his glance toward the horizon and took a deep breath. "My ears are open, if you wish for someone to listen" You spoke in a low voice, as not to disturb the peace that settled over you both.  "It's just that..." He trailed off, struggling to come up with the right words. He finally sighed and shook his head. "... Nevermind. I shouldn't burden you anymore with my problems" "Hey, it's okay" You placed your hand over his. "I wouldn't be offering to listen of you were a burden. I'm here for you" He hesitated a moment, then took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "This one felt so real" He muttered. "It was like I was there all over again, and he..." You squeezed his hand in encouragement.  "... He hit me and locked me" His voice was strained. "It was so vivid, (Y/N)" "You're safe now, darling" You gave him a reassuring smile. "We'll never let it happen ever again. I'll never let it happen again" His eyes teared up at the seams and he threw his arms around you. You returned the hug and brought yourselves back to the real world in Scott's guest room, where it was suddenly much darker and less... Unconstricted.  When he pulled back, he sighed deeply at his surroundings. He wiped the unshed tears from his eyes and closed them, nodding to himself.  "Come on, go back to sleep" You muttered. "You'll need to recover" "Are you leaving?" He asked, worry on his face. You shook your head. "I can stay" You replied. "I'm sure Scott won't mind if I crash on his couch" "Okay" He gave you a small smile in relief. "I'll... I'll be downstairs if you need me" You jabbed your thumb to the door behind you and started to walk out of the room. "(Y/N)" Isaac called before you were out of the door. "Yes?" You turned around. "Thank you" His eyes seemed heavy and his voice tired, but you knew he didn't half mean it.  "You're welcome" You gave him one last smile. "Sleep well, my sweet boy"
