Haven't played XV in a long time, but Chocobo GP and SoP had me revisiting my favorite Square Enix fandoms. I present to you the loyal and ever-proper Ignis Scientia (hair down because I love that for him)! His six Pokémon are Kricketune, Houndoom, Corviknight, Bisharp, Escavalier and Alolan Sandslash—lotsa steel dual-typings 🗡️:

Kricketune. I thought of Stoutland at first because it has that gentlemanly appeal and is known for its loyalty, but Kricketune called to me more. It still has that upper-class/gentlemanly appearance regardless of gender and is used by some gentleman trainers in D/P/Pt. From what I remember of all the fanfics I read, people really like both a musically adept Ignis and a commoner-turned-noble Ignis—and so do I. Kricketot starts as a common Pokémon fit for the common guy, then later takes on a more dapper appearance suited to a higher station. Plus, that moustache is chronic but it's song is iconic (DELELELE WHOOP!!)

Houndoom has the skull design found repeatedly in Insomnia and largely adorned by the royal family. Like Ignis, Houndoom wears a skull around his neck. I headcannon Noctis giving Ignis a Houndour as a present along with the necklace.

Corviknight fits in the theme of chivalrous and medieval figures in literature, chess pieces, and steel typings. You might notice more of that with his next two Pokémon.

Bisharp represents the dual blades Ignis uses.

Escavalier represents Ignis' favoring of the lance.

Alolan Sandslash is included for another headcanon. Of all the Astrals, I associate Shiva with Ignis (both are loyal, an advisor of sorts to another whom they care for, make difficult decisions for the greater good of the world). Ignis could meet Sandslash while fighting near Shiva's corpse.

Sandshrew and Sandslash. Being based on the pangolin (not the armadillo or porcupine, despite what you may think), the Sandshrew line has the feeling of being cute and cool at the same time. These are Pokemon designed to live in deserts, hence the Ground typing. But in Sun and Moon, they adapted to a snowy mountain climate, changing them into Ice and Steel types. It's kind of funny that Sanshrew looks like and igloo now and Sandslash looks cool with the icicles on its back. But now the names are kind of redundant. Both standard and Alolan Sandslash are deisned to be weather sweepers. Both have abilities that double thier speed in weather and have respectible Attack and a movepool to make the most out of it.
