Hey fam!!
Sorry I was MIA this weekend! I got my second vaccine and HO BOY did it wreck me lol. I wasn’t expecting to be that down for the count, but alas.
Anyway, I’m trying to slowly catch up today and I’m not working much this week so far, so I will likely be continuing to do so throughout the week! It’s just a little slow at the mo’ because I’m still feeling pretty beat!
In other news, after much, much deliberation, Alex has decided to change Alois’ FC at long last. They’ve been working with Jeremy Dufour for about 2 years now, and though they’ve loved him as we all have, it’s getting progressively harder to find resources for him since he doesn’t seem to be terribly active in the modelling scene much anymore, and on top of that, Jeremy’s sort of out-aged Alois’ bio by a little bit anyway.
So we’re welcoming Maxence Danet Fauvel as Alois’ new FC! A fresh, but good fit for a character we all know and love :) Looking forward to seeing him on the dash, Alex :)

DEFENSIVE SCENARIO - CYCLE 5, ROUND 3
Positioned in an outer line of defence, close to the territory border, CORBIN EALY is hiding with a sniper stim gun. Two opponents start to cross over from enemy lines at a run, armed with pistols. No one is a keyholder. Corbin takes aim and fires—great shot! It hits ALOIS VAN ASCH in the neck, and he goes down in surprise. ANNIE PERRAULT ducks, whirling around in a panic, and goes to try to help her friend. Corbin fires again—misses. Again—misses. Damn! Got cocky with that first one. He has to reload now, and tries to do so quickly. He fumbles, dropping some of the cartridges. Curses. Now, Alois and Annie are up and running—right in the direction of one of the lanterns. Corbin may have missed his opportunity to fire, and the trouble is, he knows the last person guarding that lantern was recently eliminated. Is anyone around it now? Is it worth the risk to hope this late in the game? Stakes are high—we’re down the wire people!!
CHOOSE ACTION: A) ATTACK; abandon post and follow at a run to confront directly B) FLEE and warn teammates nearby C) STEALTH; cut through the trees and try to cut them off
To choose ATTACK, please submit “Attack” to the GAMES BLOG ASK and the mods will execute a roll for you to determine the results.
To choose Options B or C, submit your play choice to the GAMES BLOG ASK and your results will be posted.

change in frequency || bode + alois
@alois-the-real-boy
[He was on his way out of his suite when his tablet lit up, an alert coloring the lock screen: Infections Training Request. Bode sucks in a breath, releasing it with a hiss. There hasn't been a single day the colony hasn’t kept him busy. For a moment he wonders if the sweaty man from his entrance interview detected Bode’s resentment. Idle hands and all that. He picks up the tablet from his desk, quickly unlocking it before opening the alert.
Alois van Asch requests Infection Training
House: Calyset
Security Class: 2
Infection Status: Increased Hearing
Alois? He was beginning to think god existed and his sole purpose was to ruin Bode’s mornings. Out of all the people he could have run into at the end of the world and it’s his old fuck buddy. Even thinking about it made pain crowd the back of his head. At the very least Espen will be thrilled. He always loved the Asch family. Speaking of which...He double checks Alois’ record, moved to 22 about three months ago—alone. Huh. He tucks that information away for now before turning his attention back to the request. This will be Alois’ first time training with his increased sense, hearing. The irony of this situation was not lost on Bode.
But perhaps this could work in his favor. He accepts the training request before sending Alois a single message:
Meet me in the chapel in 5 minutes.
Just like old times. He grabs his tablet and coat on the way out. He breezes down the corridors towards Delma and exits the dormitories before making his way to the chapel. He stops short of the Chapel doors, the lack of religious distinction didn’t seem to dissuade Bode’s distaste for the building but when it came to peace and quiet this was as close as they were going to get. He pushes the doors open with more force than he should have, the sensation picking at an old memory he was struggling to forget. Upon entering he noticed a straggler seated on the far left pew. If he was a patient man he would have let them finish but unfortunately for everyone Bode was born with fire beneath his feet.]
Tumblr media
I need you to leave, official training business. [The straggler frowns at Bode, their lips parting to speak, that is until Bode’s impatience withered into full blown disdain, only then did they grab their belongings and scram.] That’s better.
[He turns towards the chapel door in time to catch Alois staring after the straggler. Not a terribly good look for Bode if he heard their exchange. He feigns a look at his wristband] You’re late.

on the prospect of possibilities || alois & bode
[It was a weird sort of flashback he had when he saw the young man’s name on a list for upcoming Infection Training slots. He was reminded of being twelve, his father going on about the van Asch family and their son losing his arm. Talked about their prosthetics, acted like they reinvented the wheel. But when Bode had mentioned looking into if they had cochlear implants, Wilhelm had acted like Bode asked for the sun.  He said that what he had was good and strong; the level right below getting an Asch prosthetic. Besides, he had claimed, he had to pay for school for two boys, he had to send Astrid to rehab again. He played some guilt card, trying to tell Bode he would have to make his father choose between his health and his mother’s.
Looking back on it all, Bode knows that amount of money would have been nothing to him. Wil just didn’t want to. Whether it was he didn’t want to seem like he was jumping on the new hype of this other family’s story--didn’t want to seem like he was copying them by giving his son a better prosthetic-- or he didn’t want to risk losing Bode to rehab and be forced to stay home with his wife and other son.
It’s not bitterness toward this young man that he feels when he sees his name and what his Infection is. It’s bitterness toward his father; it’s leaving him to wonder if maybe he had gotten a better hearing aid, that maybe he wouldn’t be struggling the way he is now.
He’s not usually one to go out of his way for anyone else. But when Alois waiting for his trainer, whoever it’s usually supposed to be, who doesn’t seem to be out here yet, he feels like something come over him. The resentment toward his father’s selfish choices? Some desire that there could be a possibility that this young man at least knew something about this kind of technology and could help him in some way? Some sort of self loathing to work with someone who could hear almost everything while he worried that one day he’d wake up to hear nothing? He’s not sure. But he finds himself walking up.]
Alois, yes? [he says in his normal, stoic tone. Sure he might be trying to seem like he’s outgoing, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to slap on some ridiculous cheery voice.] I’m one of the new trainers. Bode Lindqvist.  [He doesn’t know if there’s someone else who’s supposed to be here for this meeting with Alois. But they aren’t here now. So he sees no problem with stepping in.]

Reaction || Alois & Quinn
[Quinn really didn’t care much for Infected getting into fights among themselves, it was good enough for him that they did, at least that meant that they wouldn’t be organizing among themselves. He actually enjoyed it, hearing about these little quarrels that he had little to do with. That he didn’t need to care about. It was all nice and well as long as he didn’t have to waste men and paperwork on it. The most recent fight though - alas he could say there had been more - did grab his attention. Why? Because he hated one of those Infected responsible for the uproar. A lot. Not because he feared him, or because he figured he should be worried about the man, but because he was so obviously trying to get on his radar that it was growing tiresome. He would gladly look for any reason to send the man somewhere else, or be able to take more drastic measures.]
[Kaiser Bahr really got on his nerves. The man seemed to think himself quiet the macho, and whenever he couldn’t be bothered less, he seemed to want some kind of attention. Quinn had yet discovered if this was a good or a bad thing, but he decided it was a bad thing given that Kaiser was Infected. Worse even, he seemed to be the kind of Infected who could’ve been responsible for the murder of his daughter, and that seemed to be at the root of his hatred for the man.]
[He walked into the infirmary very much intend on hearing out the other Infected involved in the fight, hoping all fingers would point to Kaiser starting the whole mess, giving him for one more reason to kick him out or set more guards on him, or to hate him even further. He found Alois freshly bandaged in the waiting room, obviously well-looked after, and more importantly: Kaiser was nowhere in sight.] Alois van Asch I presume? Though I hardly see anyone else around here who looks like they’ve just been thrown in front of a bus.

mob mentality | alois + alex
@alois-the-real-boy
[[ Alois isn’t here because he wants to be, because quite frankly, there isn’t really anywhere that he wants to be, at any given time – and dish duty is hardly an exception. But lucky fucking him, one of his late night dalliances has earned him punishment in the shape of extra chores, because already being on dual janitorial-hunting rotation isn’t punishment enough. His resentment is boiling over, probably downright palpable to any empaths nearby, as he takes steaming-hot dishes out of the far end of the machine to stack into lazy, haphazard towers. As much as Alois wants to slam down each mismatched piece of dinnerware in his ire he’s already learned his lesson about the havoc that wreaks on his ears, so he slides them into place with a care that doesn’t jive with the tautness of his jaw.
The gaggle of teenage girls loading the machine at the other end are driving him fucking nuts. They’re dropping plates and silverware in with hardly a care, and Alois is nearly vibrating out of his skin with the cacophony. One of them laughs – this horrendous, high-pitched sound that finally pushes him over the edge. He whirls around with venom on his lips, but the movement sends a plate sliding from the polished fingertips of his left hand and crashing to the floor. Alois claps his hands over his ears at the sound as the assortment of girls start to titter nervously, but all of that is cut short when a voice rings out over everything, presumably the Elite on duty from the authority in his voice. The timbre of it is low enough that it smooths Alois’s bristling, and with a sharp exhale he stoops to start scraping the splintered pieces together with his left hand, trying to avoid eye contact. The last thing he needs is to provoke someone into adding even more chores on top of the trifecta he’s got. ]]
Tumblr media
[Alois looks particularly tense today. Granted, ever since he’d set foot in Calyset, he’s looked tense, and Alex has gotten the impression over the passing weeks that tense is sort of this one’s default. But though he’s been stoic, quiet, guarded, he’s not been problematic, by any means. Well... unless you count the frustrated messages Alex keeps finding in his inbox from Elites of other houses who’ve found Alois in... compromising positions in places that he shouldn’t be, at hours that he shouldn’t be. More than once.
It’s been equally as frustrating for Alex, but mostly because he can’t even begin to express how much he doesn’t give a fuck, who his house members are fucking, nor where, nor when—so long as they aren’t putting themselves or anyone else in harm’s way—do they not all deserve at least a modicum of privacy? He doesn’t care if blondie is a player or not, so long as he’s showing up to training, treating people with respect (Alex included), and generally not being a dick.
Maybe Alex finds it easier to empathize because of Alois’ more stoic nature. Alex is guarded and quite serious himself, so maybe cutting him some slack comes easier than the more... grating personality types—namely, the Delmas. Charming as they may be, they do tend to announce themselves to the worlds a lot, and rather unnecessarily. With the exception perhaps of Cambie.
He watches Alois start to clean up, a muscle in the side of his jaw twitching noticeably. He catches the gaze of one of the other civilians, and projects an unspoken order for them to help, which they do with a small sigh, but no hesitation.
The room is quieter now, thank God, and when Alois stands again, Alex takes up a spot nearby.]
Doing alright, Van Asch? [he projects into the young man’s head.] You seem broodier than usual.

Alois van Asch | Twenty Five;  Survivor
House: Calyset Security Class: 2 Status: Infected - Increased Hearing
History
By the dawn of the 22nd century, the van Asch family was already notorious for their role in bringing about several major medical advancements during the technological boom that changed the world. In addition to helping develop the Medipack system, the van Aschs were credited with inventions like digital-blade surgical implements, do-it-yourself cosmetic lasers, and lastly and most famously, fiberglass-encased prosthetic limbs that could be surgically grafted onto the nerves to restore almost total mobility to amputees. That last one, Alois knew well.
Their publicist later argued that Alois falling to the rocks of the Patalpani waterfall during a vacation to India was the best thing that ever happened to the family. Before then, demand for Asch prosthetics was low because of the incredibly expensive cost to build, the surgery, and the lengthy rehabilitation period.  But when the story of what had happened to the van Asch’s own eight year-old son hit the media, news traveled worldwide, and the opportunity was not lost on their investors. For three years, various media outlets followed Alois’ recovery extremely closely, from the amputation of his left arm to the careful creation of his new one. The entire world had access to the process; lengthy clips detailing the careful and individual creation of each Asch product, reassuring statistics to take the stigma away from the surgery, and of course, emotional updates with Alois himself as he went from a broken child with dead nerves up to his shoulder, to a beautiful young boy with a brilliant white arm, once again able to put his clothes on all by himself.
The product was minimalist, sexy, and effective. The advertisement was endearing, seamless, perfect. The reviews, all but unified in praise. In the first financial period after the final update with Alois, sales for the Asch-brand prosthetics increased to legendary proportions, both in their home country of Belgium and in various nations across the planet.
Despite their overwhelming cost, Alois’ story had profoundly influenced the market and Asch prosthetics rapidly became the new standard, singling out and stigmatizing more primitive models. It said something about you, if you couldn’t afford an Asch. That alone created demand—a whole new market of people choosing fully-functional limbs over houses, cars, schooling.
Alois, in the meantime, rode that train of success as far as it would go. With his rehabilitation complete, his parents started to groom him early to adopt their legacy, and he never looked back. By the time he was twelve, the van Asch name had elevated in status and notoriety, joining old families of money on massive piles of wealth that did nothing but grow and grow and grow as time went on. At seventeen, Alois joined the narrow number of youths said to be “sure to inherit the world”, primed to continue his parents’ legacy into the 23rd century. But thanks to D-Day, that dream was short-lived.
To this day, he can still clearly see the sky how it was that day, erupting with color as it rained Hell down upon the Earth while his family’s private jet was still desperately descending to the airport landing. The rest of it was a blur. Something heavy striking the tail, a crash, and blood. Sparks. Concrete. Only Alois and his youngest sister made it out of the wreckage.
From that point on, Alois adapted quickly to the world as it raged around them; he had to. For Lise. Despite only being nineteen, his sister was still a child and he was the only stable pillar she had left with their family and estate in ruins. He got to thinking, came up with a strategy, and after a few brutal weeks of navigating the ruins of Brussels, Alois managed to secure them a shelter within the partially-underground, reinforced warehouse still owned and operated by his family’s constituents. From there…it was easy.
Different clans and communities started to pop up one by one, and in the early days, Alois had one of his own. Former employees who had flocked there in the hopes of having access to the medical supplies inside because valued residents of the small settlement Alois built in and around the warehouse; keeping things running, keeping things replenished and working while he handled trade agreements, handing out large amounts of inventory to outside factions in return for a portion of scavenged food and clean water. It worked well. Until Lise, whose Deluded symptoms he had been fighting for years, finally got too out of hand.
When he finally left the warehouse, he left alone, with the doors to the supplies wide open for the taking.
Alois Today
Alois might still be walking alone to this day if he hadn’t happened upon Colony 22, and he’s still asking himself the same question he’s been asking since he got here a short time ago: why am I here? For the first time in his life, he doesn’t have a clear path set out for him, or even a goal to work towards, and without one, he’s stagnant, occupying himself with carrying out his delegated responsibilities and drawn-out bouts of internal existential debates. He doesn’t quite know how to be an ordinary member of anything, always used to being exceptional and singular, and being part of the Colony’s relatively stable atmosphere has him regularly rethinking his own sense of identity.
He still thinks of himself as the golden child of this shining empire, now walking around with the rabble and trying to blend in. It’s impossible, he thinks, and sometimes he finds himself annoyed and bored by the thoughts and behaviors of the people around him. Alois is uptight and jaded, definitely, and has a hard time being anything other than objective about a lot of things. He constantly feels like he could do a lot of things better. Like he’d be better off if he were on his own. But he doesn’t leave and his reasons why aren’t exactly clear to him. He finds training tedious, and the Games beyond pointless, but doesn’t volunteer his opinions, performing the bare minimum as expected lest he have to deal with some kind of insufferable reprimand.
But that, at least, is difficult, because Alois’ gift for increased hearing is essentially a curse to him. The pain might not come around as often anymore, but he loathes his own sensitivity and aches for silence most times out of the day. He doesn’t tend to get much sleep because of how relieving the quiet nights are, and as a result, often moves at a rather slow and sleepy pace during the day. Being well rested is a thing of the past that Alois has bitterly accepted. As well as being content or happy. It’s still about survival for Alois, no matter what happens, and if that means he has to suffer through a tedious life as part of the flock, he’ll do it.

OUTCOME - CYCLE 5, ROUND 3
ACTION CHOSEN: [STEALTH]
CORBIN drops his sniper and takes only smaller weapons as he hurries into the trees a different direction. He has to move quickly if he has any hope of catching up, but the gaming grounds have dissolved into total chaos by now, and so he has to be careful too. It’s anyone’s game right now and he can’t afford to get eliminated. Unfortunately, he has a difficult time finding ALOIS and ANNIE. Corbin may have been too slow. He keeps moving through the trees, closer and closer to the lantern. He can’t see anything, but thinks he hears something to the left. All goes still. He waits. Hears nothing. Sees nothing. Frustrated, Corbin turns on his chest light. It gives away his position to Alois and Annie who were well-hidden behind some trees, and they shoot, then take off running. Corbin dodges the shot, and fires back as quick as possible. He manages to take out Alois, but Annie keeps running and gets away.
POINTS EARNED: [50]
This concludes ROUND 3. Thank you to DELMA Representative, CORBIN EALY!
UP NEXT: ROUND 4 - BRINK - ANDREYA ROCHE
