Heyyyyy!!! You still do Encanto? If so the can you do Camilo x male reader and like the madrigals throw a party for whatever and male reader knows how to dance so he dances with a girl/guy whatever and they accidentally kiss and male reader explains or whatever that it was an accident. (Sorry if it’s long and too detailed)
~ Yes! Since we're so close to the new year I decided to mix it up with that, I hope you don't mind. And it's no biggie, really! I prefer more specific requests anyway. Thank you for the request, it's the first one I get so I'm pretty happy about that s2. Hope you like it! ~
Tumblr media
Camilo x Male reader
Summary: You accidentally kiss someone else while dancing. Camilo, your boyfriend, sees it. Misundertandings ensue. (You make up at the end, though, so don't worry!)
Word count: 1830.
Genre: Emotional hurt/comfort(?)
Author's notes: This might be a bit ooc, I'm not too sure, it's been a while since I've interacted with anything Encanto! Also, I used the word "parce" at some point, I've heard it's similar to "bro" in English or "mano" in Portuguese. I say it a lot so I feel it would fit in the dialogue but do let me know if it's not used like that in Colombia. And!! The dance I had in mind for this was cumbia since it's, apparently, a very popular dance there, but it's not really mentioned explicitly (and it could be wrong, since if you looked up that about Brazil Google would make you think most people dance samba at parties here when it's not really true, at least in my experience). And yes, the way the "kiss" happens isn't that realistic but who cares? Not me (though, fun fact, something very similar happened to me irl once!)
Tumblr media
Celebrating the new year was always fun at Encanto. The whole town came over to the Madrigals' house and danced, drank, ate, and just generally partied until dawn. Now, it wasn't as wild as it sounds, but it was always a treat.
This year was particularly exciting for you since it was your first year officially attending as Camilo's boyfriend!
What did that change? Well, not much, only that you helped organize the place before the party, which you didn't mind (not when that meant you could spend the entire day goofing around with Camilo while doing so). But even though you partied together almost every year, there was just something different about dancing as a couple instead of friends.
The two of you had danced for a while after the *real* party started, however eventually decided to switch partners every few minutes as most did. It was just more fun like that, and you were still close enough for it to be considered time spent together. Plus, you were amongst friends, so it didn't feel weird.
Eventually, you ended up back together. After a few short minutes of dancing, Camilo suddenly seemed distracted, staring behind you as he stepped along to the beat of the song.
"You know, if you keep doing that you're gonna step on my foot!" You teased, then asked, "What's wrong?"
"... Oh, perdón, corazón." You cringed a little at how that rhymed. It seemed intentional by the way he giggled after saying that. "Mi mamá wants me to fix something, I think, I don't really understand what she's trying to say."
You stopped dancing and turned around to look as well, quickly finding Pepa gesturing angrily at the upstairs of the house and mouthing something to your boyfriend. After she noticed you looking, however, she stopped, smiled, and waved almost awkwardly. You and Camilo laughed.
"Want me to go with you?"
"No, no, it's fine! I want you to enjoy yourself, you already did enough by helping me with the decorations earlier. Just keep dancing or whatever." he explained, then grabbed your chin and gave you a soft kiss on the lips, grinning right after "See you in a few minutes!"
With that, he left.
'Charming bastard..." You thought as you watched him go, lips still tingling from his kiss.
[...]
You tried to wait for Camilo to come back but got bored after a few minutes. He did give you permission to dance with other people, and you were doing that before anyway, so you were sure he wouldn't mind.
The dance floor (that was actually just the main room of the house) was considerably fuller now that people started drinking, but you still had enough space to dance. Your current partner was Daniela, your sweet next-door neighbor. It was actually her mother that taught you how to dance along with some of the other kids in your street, so you were very comfortable dancing with each other.
You were facing each other to be able to talk better, one of your hands on her waist and the other on her hand. You spoke about your plans for the year, how your relationship was going, did some casual gossip because why not, when suddenly someone ran into her from behind. She fell forward, and your natural instinct was to try to hold her so she wouldn't fall. This, unfortunately for the two of you, ended up causing something quite awkward: your lips on hers.
It was very, very quick, but felt weird nonetheless. You hadn't really kissed anyone other than Camilo, but did this even count when it was on accident?
You stared at each other for a few seconds after separating. She was slowly becoming red like a tomato (and your face felt very hot as well, so Lord knows what you looked like), but both ended up laughing.
"I'm sorry, I didn't- someone ran into me-" She tried to explain, but you just shook your head and put your hand on her shoulder with a smile.
"I get it, it's fine, I noticed. Still wanna dance?"
She nodded positively and you went back to doing what you were before, not giving the event much thought.
[...]
A few more minutes passed, and still not a trace of Camilo. You weren't worried before, but now you were. Did something happen?
"Parce... I'm gonna go look for Camilo. He's been gone for a while, I'm worried." You announced and stopped dancing.
"Alright! See you later, (Y/n)! Tell him I said hi." She said.
"Will do!" You waved, then left.
You looked around the entire house and still couldn't find your boyfriend. Now you were really worried. It felt a bit irrational since it was Pepa who had left with him, so surely she would keep him safe. But what if something happened to the two of them, then?
Before your paranoid thoughts could get to you, you managed to find Dolores, who looked around as if looking for someone while holding a cup of juice.
"Hey, Dolores!" You greeted and she jumped before looking at you. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Have you seen Camilo around? I can't find him anywhere!"
"Oh, he's mad at you because you kissed Daniela." She explained, then widened her eyes and squeaked when she noticed what she just said. "I mean, no."
Your chest tightened when you heard what she said. So he thought you cheated on him?
"He saw that? But it was an accident! I don't-"
"I tried to tell him, but he didn't want to listen." She shrugged.
You didn't know how to feel about how Dolores was apparently listening to you and Daniela talk for her to have managed to catch that part, but didn't give it much thought. You were more worried about Camilo as of now.
"Where is he?"
She looked around with just her eyes, then replied.
"His bedroom. You should go, he's very upset."
You didn't wait a second before you left, quickly making your way to your boyfriend's room. Even though it wasn't really your fault, you still felt extremely guilty. This day was supposed to be one of fun and parties, not sadness! You weren't even sure he would believe you when you told him what had actually happened, but the thought of him breaking up with you because of that gave upset you too much, so you chose to think about it.
When you got to the glowing door of his bedroom, you knocked a few times, hands shaking a little from the built-up anxiety. You hoped he wasn't THAT hurt.
"Camilo, it's (Y/n)!" You said. "We need to talk!"
You couldn't hear anything behind the door for a while, but it suddenly just opened, revealing none other than Camilo. His eyes were red and puffy and he was still wearing what he wore at the party, though a little crumpled and with some small bits of dust that probably came from a blanket.
You could have cried at the sight, especially with this misunderstanding being the cause of it, but before you could say anything Camilo started talking.
"There's nothing to talk about!" he exclaimed angrily and sniffled, tears starting to fall from his eyes. "Y-you kissed her while I was gone! I trusted you! I thought..."
"No, no, mi vida! It's nothing like that!" you interrupted before he could go on, determined to avoid any further misunderstandings. "Someone pushed her on accident and she fell, I tried to catch her and, well, that's what you saw! I didn't say anything because, to us, it didn't mean anything! It was an accident! She has her boyfriend and I have you, and I would never want to kiss anyone else! I'm so, so, so sorry..."
Camilo stared at you silently as his tears came to a halt. He sniffled and dried his eyes with his hands before speaking again.
"So... You still love me?"
"Of course I do! I love you more than anything, amor!" your face got warmer after saying that. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything, I just didn't think it was that big of a deal, but I should have-"
Before you could keep going, Camilo hugged you so fast you didn't even see it coming. You returned the gesture and wrapped your arms gently around his figure, softly caressing his back as you did.
"... Mi hermana tried to say that to me, I think, but I didn't really listen... I'm, uh, sorry." He said. The words were a bit muffled since his face was pressed against your neck, but they were still understandable.
You let out a relaxed sigh, then giggled and placed a sweet kiss on his forehead.
"It's fine, she told me. I'm just glad you're not sad anymore... Unless you still are?" You pulled away and looked at him with a worried expression.
He pulled you back and shook his head.
"No, no! I'm glad I was wrong! I'm sorry for having jumped to conclusions so quickly-"
"But it was perfectly reasonable for you to get upset about that, I-"
"Ey, ey!" he interrupted as he pulled away, placing both hands on your shoulders. "What if, instead of infinitely apologizing to each other, we went back to having some fun?"
You laughed and nodded.
"Yeah, that sounds better. Wanna go back to the party?"
"Actually," Camilo replied with a mischievous grin "I had something else in mind." He walked a few steps back and looked at the inside of his bedroom, then at you again. "Wanna come in?"
You only raised an eyebrow and complied, following him into the room.
[...]
The idea turned out to be surprisingly mild. You were laying down comfortably on Camilo's bed, with your arms wrapped around him as you watched some telenovela his tío, Bruno, had recommended to him.
"But... Wasn't she his tía or something?" You asked, confused.
"Amor, are you even watching?" Camilo huffed in an annoyed manner but didn't bother looking up at you. "Yes, she is! But she doesn't remember that, she has amnesia! That's like, the whole point!" He said as he gestured at the screen.
"Perdón, perdón. I'm just busy looking at something else." You said, staring lovingly at him.
He turned his head towards you in curiosity, staring blankly for a few minutes before becoming almost as red as a tomato.
"Eres ridículo, (Y/n)." He laughed and gave you a quick kiss on the lips, then went back to watching the TV.
"What can I say? I love you! And you're very, very pretty."
"He, I love you too. Now pay attention to the telenovela or I swear I'll make you watch it all again!"
You both ended up falling asleep together while watching television. It wasn't exactly what you had in mind for the new year, but waking up in the morning with him still in your arms was certainly more than you could have asked for.

“Well, that’s surprising,” Mirabel said, fixing her glasses just to make sure she wasn’t imagining things.
Dolores squeaked next to her. Her hands close to her chest.
“How on earth did he manage..?” Isabela trailed off, she looked at Luisa. The taller sister just shrugged, not knowing the answer either.
The four Madrigal girls observed the scene unfolding before them.
Camilo with his back resting against Y/N’s side as they both sat on the stone wall. He was telling her some sort of a story as she fiddled with the thread and needle, trying to fix his ruana.
It was surprising to his cousins and sister. See, Y/N was a good girl. A little shy, but sweet. Helped around the village a lot. Usually could be spotted by the food stall, helping Julieta with handing out the food for the injured. She was quite an angel.
And you know who wasn’t one?
Camilo.
That was why the girls wondered how on earth did he get Y/N to be in his presence without grimacing or nervous smiles that indicated she wanted to leave. In fact, she seemed quite comfortable with him so close, like she didn’t mind him there at all. Did he bribe her or something?
And then something happened that made the girls widen their eyes that they looked like plates.
Y/N handed Camilo the fixed ruana and in return he sat up, faced the girl and gave her a kiss so sudden that it almost made her fall back.
“Dios mío…” Isabela whispered, being the first to gain back her composure.
it was definitely a shock to the entire family when they found out Camilo somehow managed to make you his girlfriend
Isabela still thought he bribed you
you were known for your kind words, behaving and helping
those were the things almost everyone in Encanto associated with you
and for the longest time, Camilo thought about you this way as well
just a nice girl, nothing interesting
but then one day he saw you putting some paprika in Dante’s drink (one of the boys your age, who just happened to insult you a few times) and he knew that there was more to you than you let people see
he became intrigued by you and spared no time in befriending you
you were exactly what he needed, because someone so chaotic and mischievous, should have someone composed and sweet to balance it out
he fell for you, which kinda disappointed him as he always hoped to be the one that people fall for
but it’s okay, he got over it
he won’t be getting over you anytime soon though don’t worry
Camilo will always think that the way you got together was both funny and cute
“Hi,”
“Hi?”
“What’s up?”
Y/N blinked. “Well, me apparently,” she said, looking down at the boy.
Camilo grinned at her little joke, but didn’t stand up.
Y/N tilted her head, opened her mouth to say something, but then closed it. She opened it again, but nothing came out.
“You look like a fish out of the water, mi vida,” Camilo scoffed.
“Cami, why are you on the ground?”
Camilo smiled awkwardly. “Um,” he coughed, looking to the side. “I fell for you..?”
Y/N’s eyebrows shot up. She knew the boy was just joking around like he usually did, but that knowledge wasn’t enough to stop the heat from creeping up her neck and cheeks. She straightened and fixed her skirt flustered.
“Huh…” she mustered, avoiding his gaze and what she assumed a smirk as well.
But then an idea knocked on the door of her mind and she reluctantly let it in. Her heart fluttered, knowing what she was about to do next.
She plopped down next to the boy and laid her back flat on the ground just by his side.
She refused to look at him.
“Princesa, what are you doing?”
With an innocent face, she finally faced him and their noses almost brushed. “Falling for you too, I suppose,”
Camilo smiled with reddened cheeks.
that was it, sweet, simple and very much in Camilo’s style
throughout the first few weeks of being able to finally call himself your boyfriend, he noticed that whenever he held your hand or kissed your cheek, people would look at the two of you puzzled, especially his family and especially his cousins
somewhere along the way he forgot to make your relationship official
he’s a little dumbass
but a dumbass in love
it was just so easy to get lost in you
he would see you fixing Cecilia’s pinwheel or speaking in a soft voice to his sister and something would drop in his chest
it kinda felt like a flower just bloomed right next to his heart
but that didn’t change the fact that everyone thought this wasn’t exactly a match made in heaven
rather made in hell
you were just complete opposites
“Camilo, is Y/N your novia?” Antonio tugged on his brother’s ruana.
The boy looked at the kid. “Um, well, yeah. Yeah, she is,”
And as he said that, he couldn’t fight off the smile that his lips curved into.
Antonio pursed his lips in thought. “Why?”
“What do you mean why? I like her, she likes me. Makes sense, doesn’t it?”
“It really doesn’t,” said Mirabel, who walked over, overhearing their little conversation. “She’s too good for you.”
Camilo hit her arm.
He bit his lip, afraid his smile would reveal just how wrong Mirabel was. He didn’t have the guts to tell her that it was Y/N who switched the lenses in her glasses that one day. He wouldn’t want to change her opinion about his girlfriend.
It was amusing to him really. That Y/N was so sweet and shy and kind and all other angelic adjectives in everyone’s eyes. But she showed him her devilish side that she kept a secret for so long. And he knew that the girl who hid behind those beautiful eyes and warm smile, was the one for him.
Camilo kinda liked knowing he was the only one to know all that. Made him feel special, she made him feel special.
“Oh, believe me prima,” he said. “She’s just right.”
after some time, it was clear to everyone that you’re just about the best thing that happened to him
he was becoming a better son, brother, cousin, even nephew or grandson
you seemed to fit into the family like a lost puzzle piece as well
becoming a second daughter to Pepa was practically inevitable
she liked you a lot, but because she was afraid she’d scare you off, she kept distance at first
she had the tendency to be an emotional disaster after all
and seeing her oldest son growing up so fast just added to that
storms, snow and wind were quite frequent at first
one time Camilo wasn’t around and you happened to be in the Casita waiting for him
you knew that Camilo always brewed tea for Pepa during one of her episodes
so you did just that and visited her in her room with a cup of tea and some biscuits
the tea was horrible, but Pepa appreciated the thought
and since then the storms were happening less often
there wasn’t a person you weren’t nice to without a reason
but it wasn’t always a good thing
people sometimes took you for granted, used you or manipulated you, it was never serious, but that didn’t excuse them
what Camilo noticed was that you rarely get repaid for your kindness
and he was willing to pay off everyone’s debt
“What’s the occasion?” Y/N asked warily when her boyfriend handed her a bouquet of flowers. Her mind started going places as she tried to remember if today was important.
Anniversary of some kind? No.
My birthday? No, I should now that, dios.
His birthday? No, that makes zero sense.
“Does there have to be one?” he asked, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet with a smug smile.
“So.” Y/N put the flowers down, making a mental note to put them in a vase later. “What did you do?”
Camilo gasped offended. “Mi vida!”
Y/N blinked. She raised her brow at him and crossed her arms. “You want me to believe these are just a nice gesture? Nothing more?”
Camilo wore a serious expression and walked over to Y/N’s bed at which she was sitting and sat next to her. “Yes.”
Y/N dropped her arms and her face changed from suspicious to puzzled.
“That is exactly what they are,” he explained, grabbing her hand. “Why do you think you don’t deserve to have something nice done for you?”
“Um,” Y/N muttered.
Words got stuck in her throat. Her eyelids fluttered as she tried to blink the new formed tears. She looked away, not knowing how to react. “I- Well,”
“Okay, you know what?” Camilo wrapped his arms around her and gently pushed her down onto the mattress. Once she was lying down, he rested his head on her chest. The grip on her waist tightened. “We’re staying here today.”
“Wha- The whole day?”
“Yep.” he took her hand and motioned for her to play with his hair. “Consider this your day off from being Encanto’s angel,”
She was sure her cheeks were hotter than the sun by now. Y/N rubbed Camilo’s back and looked down at him with a smile that expressed all the words of gratitude she wanted to say.
He was right. She didn’t have to be an angel all the time. Today, she’d be a devil. Let her be selfish and enjoy the presence of the person who cared about her more than anything as he proved today.
see, this relationship worked because you both had something the other needed
your angelic side rubbed a bit on Camilo and his devilish one on you
he would absolutely do anything for you, because you deserved the world in his opinion
and well, he was your world
so, you weren’t going to let go of each other

Ahw Shit
Tw; Gore, heavily injured body, the word “throwing up”
Another beautiful day comes over the wonderful town of Encanto as the people mill about and the children play about in the streets.
The Madrigals are going about their busy lives as Isabela slowly makes her way into the town, helping anyone along the way in need of her powers and entertaining the kids.
Luisa can be seen periodically rushing around with heavy stuff on her shoulders that need to be relocated and kids trailing behind her, yelling about how cool she is for carrying so much.
Camilo is entertaining a crowd with his theatrics and sometimes causing a bit of mischief by his shifting.
Dolores is quietly running errands with the occasional person asking if she can hear someone they’re looking for. Usually their child that ran off.
Pepa was with Felix as they both were getting prepared for Antonio’s gift ceremony that was happening in a few days.
And Julieta was in the town’s plaza giving out arepas, empanadas, and bunuelos balls to the long line of sick or injured.
"Julieta!”
A familiar man called our as he and his younger kid rushed to the woman with an unconscious individual awkwardly held between them.
They looked young and was pale. Blood was running down their face and seeping through the lower back of their shirt, slowly staining the pack basket they had on. The clothes they were wearing indicated that they weren’t from Encanto as they had no ruana and weren’t wearing anything local. The nearest village was miles away too so it was unlikely that they were from there if they were just out gathering.
“Oh my god what happened to them?!”
“We don’t know! We only found them because there was a Yellow Caracara flying around.”
Julieta broke a bunuelo ball apart and opened their mouth, to which it made a horrible popping noise. Since word travels fast in Encanto, a freshly formed crowd surrounded the scene and any close enough cringed at the gross sound. Some murmured that the stranger was probably already dead.
After getting the food in the stranger, popping and cracking came from their body as bones were put back together and limbs turned to be at their normal angles. Multiple people in the crowd had to leave since the scene was so vile and some were heard gagging or throwing up in the background.
“Oh my god...”
Although their body seemed to be healed, they hadn’t woken up which made Julieta worried. She put her head to their chest to see if there was a heartbeat.
“Are they..?”
The farmer’s kid sheepishly asked.
“They’ll be alright.-”
Dolores put her hand on the kids shoulder as she peered over the seen.
“-I can hear their breathing and heartbeat.”
A collective breath was released through everyone at the news.
Since the excitement was now over the crowd dispersed and went back to their lives, leaving only the Madrigals to decide what should happen to the stranger now.
“So what are we gonna do with them?”
Camilio motioned to them.
“Once they regain consciousness, they're to leave at once.”
Abuela answered.
“What? Mama they almost died, they should rest before they leave.”
Julieta argued.
“Absolutely not. They are a threat to Encanto and it’s safety.”
“They’re not an outsider mama, they’re not dressed like one.”
“You don’t know-”
“Uegh what the fuck...”
Pepa quickly covered Antonio’s ears at the sudden curse.
The mystery person slowly sat up and Julieta put her hand on their back to keep them steady. Little did she know, this would be a bad idea.
The person violently threw themselves forward away from her touch and frantically got up and turned to them. Making the other Madrigals panic as well and get defensive. Ready to throw down if needed.
“Where...”
They frantically looked at their surroundings and saw the Madrigals right in front of them to which they paled at.
“It’s okay we’re not here to hurt you what’s your name dear.”
Julieta gently spoke to them to which it seemed to help settle them down.
“My..name?”
“Yes.”
“..Y/n. Where am I? Who are you?”
“My name is Julieta Madrigal. You’re in the town of Encanto.”
They froze at this and then adjusted to a more relaxed stance as it looked like they were now thinking of something.
“Where are you from?”
Abuela questioned, while giving a quick side glance to Julieta.
“Uh..Encanto”
“Really? we’ve never seen you here.”
“I know little Spanish. Do you..”
Y/n made a writing motion to symbolize that they were asking for something to write with.
“Oh I have one!”
Mirabel took grabbed a notebook and pencil form her bag and went over to them. The other Madrigals doing the same as Y/n started to quickly scribble on the pad.
Y/n made a tiny bundle of houses with a chibi Mirabel face to say that that was the town and made a giant circle around it to represent the boarder of Encanto. They then, near the boarder, put a chibi y/n and house.
“Oh, they live outside the town.”
Luisa commented.
“They’re technically in Encanto.”
Mirabel reasoned to which abuela frowned at and Julieta smirked at.
They then scribbled a chibi Julieta next to a health cross pointing to a chibi them and a question mark.
“Yes, I healed you,”
“Thank you.”
Y/n then promptly gave Mirabel back her notebook and started to walk away.
“Uh, where are you going?”
Isabela questioned with a confused look on her face.
“Home.”
They grabbed their pack basket a swiftly started to leave.
“But you need time to recover.”
“No thank you.”
They hurriedly cut through the busy townsfolk and soon enough the Madrigals lost sight of them.
“That was weird.”
Camilio said, and then promptly got elbowed by his sister.
Y/n pov
‘Shhhiiiiiitttt.”

A Christmas Surprise (Encanto Fic)
The triplets give their Mamá a gift she will always cherish
—————————————————
A/n I said if i hit 600 follows yesterday I’d make the fic happen, so here it is!! The title is lazy and this is kinda rushed, so sorry if it’s not the best. Merry Christas to those who celebrate, and if you don’t I wish you a wonderful day!!
Alma Madrigal was no fool. She kept her eye on everything, she knew everyone, and helped out everywhere. And she would never fail to catch something that concerned her directly. Her, or her children. The very same children who had been acting much more suspicious as of lately.
She knew those three were up to something, but she had yet to figure out what. And with the holidays coming up and all the preparations that needed to be made, the woman barely had enough time to figure out what exactly they were up to. She also knew each of her children alone were terrible at keeping secrets from her, but as a trio? They seemed to keep each other in check, making sure no one shared what was going on. Her babies were only a few years from becoming teens, and she hoped they weren’t getting too good at hiding things from her.
Whenever they were gathered, she could hear them. Bruno would start, “Did you get-“, before one of Pepa’s clouds thundered behind him, cutting off his question. At breakfast Pepa would ask the other two, “Are we goin-“ before Julieta shoved food into her mouth, rendering her incapable of speaking. Or Julieta would say, “I think we shoul-“ before Bruno loudly whispered that he’d release a rat in the kitchen if she didn’t stop talking.
Then she’d see them sneaking around Casita, or quickly hiding things when she came near. Finally, she sat them all down and simply asked them what was going on. Their eyes wide, wondering if they were in trouble, turned to shifting looks at one another when they heard her questions. What she didn’t expect was for her Brunito to say the same words she always answered the triplets with when she found them curiously snooping around for gifts before they were supposed to be given during this time of year.
“Don’t ask questions at Christmas time?”
Alma narrowed her eyes at her son, deciding how to react. Finally, she decided to let it go, relief setting in that at least her children weren’t up to no good, and likely just hiding a surprise from her. Besides, she had never seen the three try this hard to work together which was a nice thing to see. And yet, she couldn’t help her own curiosity begin to grow, wondering just what it could be that was so important to her children.
As soon as she let the three of them leave, she heard each of them let out a sigh of relief as they all ran off upstairs. Sounds of rain suggested they were in Pepa’s room, her weather drowning out any noise of a conversation they could be having. Alma let them be, moving on to her duties today to keep her own mind occupied on something other than her kids and their secrets.
————————————
“Dios mío, that was SO close,” Pepa almost yelled at the other two as soon as her door shut, and a drizzle began. She’s not sure whether she’s raining to be strategic as they converse, or if it’s simply just a release of all the anxiety she had built up only moments prior.
“Si! We should try and get this done today so we don’t need to worry about it anymore,” Julieta told them, “Do we have everything we need?”
Bruno nodded, “I’ve got the last of it. And there’s nothing to worry about, mi hermanas, I’ve already told you she doesn’t find out about it until she’s supposed to.”
Together they carefully compiled everything they needed into one bag that Julieta would hold on to, as she was the only one who wasn’t concerned about something going drastically wrong while holding it during their short journey. The two others opting to look out for their Mamá on the way there.
They made their way over to the home of Señora Arias. She was a kind woman who was well-known by almost everyone in town. She had lived there from the start, and so she herself had known many people before and after the people had found their Encanto to call a home. The triplets knew very well she knew their Mamá and chatted with her regularly, but decided asking her for help was worth the risk. The woman liked to spend her free time working on a variety of creative mediums, and they hoped she would be able to create something their Mamá would love
When they arrived, the home was warm and welcoming. Windows kept wide open so passersby could say hello, and as such, she could spot the three of them heading directly towards her home. She greeted them directly.
“Well if it isn’t the Madrigal triplets! To what do I owe this pleasure?”
Pepa, always the most direct, spoke first, “We were wondering if you could make something for us!”
The woman laughed at her enthusiasm, but waved them all inside, “I’m sure we can figure something out, let’s talk about it.”
All three of them were shuffled in, sitting together on her couch as she went to grab some tea and cups that she always seemed to have ready. They took in the sight of her living room as they waited, covered with bright papers, fabrics, and paints, all things the woman used as she worked.
“Alright kids,” she asked, “what is it that you were thinking?”
Julieta began, pulling stuff out of her bag until she found exactly what she was looking for, and handed it over, “We were hoping you could do something with this?”
Bruno jumped in, “Not with it, exactly. We need to return it eventually, but something that could look like it?”
“This is for your mother isn’t it?” She asked, looking at a photo that she was handed. They nodded in unison. “I can definitely figure out something and have it for you by next week, okay?” Their heads nodded faster.
“Gracias Señora! But we must also tell you we don’t have too much to offer you for it,” Julieta said as she began to get more from her bag.
“We managed to scrape up and save every bit of change that we have!” Pepa added.
“Oh put that away! Your mother has done so much for this community, myself included. I’m glad to do it as long as you all just promise me you’ll follow her example by helping others, alright?” Once again all heads were nodding with excitement.
They left the home, thanking the woman over and over again for her kind offer and help, and committing to memory when exactly they’d need to come to pick up the gift for their Mamá.
———————————
The rest of the month seemed to fly by, days coming and going easily what with all the hustle and bustle of the town. Despite the fact that the triplets believed their sneaking around ended when they met with Señora Arias, they hadn’t considered the sneaking around they’d have to do to get said gift back to Casita without being seen either. Of course, none of them had considered the size it could have possibly been either. It took a lot of very elaborate paths back to their home, very early in the morning, just so they could sneak it back into Julieta’s bedroom, as Pepa’s had too much risk of rain, and the grit of Bruno’s sand was too much of a concern as well.
But finally, today was Christmas, and their hard work had paid off. Aside from the fact that their Mamá knew there was something for her, she had been unable to figure out what exactly it could have been.
That morning, everyone was awoken by the loud noises of Pepa screaming in excitement. She was never a morning person, unless it came to a holiday she loved. Her siblings had learned that if they didn’t get up fast enough, she’d make it snow on their beds and blamed it on the time of year, despite the fact that the seasons barely changed, and they were pretty sure the only snow they had ever seen in their lives came from their sister. Regardless, the trick had worked enough times that Julieta and Bruno knew not to doubt her threat, and got out of bed quickly, excitement building in them as well as they shook off their sleepiness.
By the time Alma herself had woken up and gotten downstairs, all three of her kids were waiting for her expectantly.
“Hmmm, all three of my babies, up so early? Surely they’d much rather get some extra sleep?” She teased her children, “Oh! Maybe there’s somewhere they need to be or something they need to do! I guess I will just let them be on their way..”
A chorus of “no”s rang out around her as they all grabbed on her arms and brought her back into the room.
“Alright, alright,” she laughed at her children’s reaction with a smile, “I won’t make you wait.”
She left the room briefly, and came back holding a stack of three gifts, each wrapped in colorful paper that matched her kids, placing a yellow one in Pepa’s hands, blue in Julieta’s, and green in Bruno’s. They knew the drill, and began opening one at a time, giving each other the time to have their own moment.
Pepa went first, never able to hold back, and ripped the paper back to find a box containing a set of bright gold earrings shaped like suns. Her eyes marveled at the jewelry before a look of realization came across her that they were the same pair she would stare at every time she passed the small shop that sold them in town. She squeaked out a quick, “Gracias, Mamá!” Before declaring that she wanted to try them on now. Her mother laughed before reminding her it was Bruno’s turn now and she’d have to wait a little longer.
Bruno ripped his paper just a little more carefully than Pepa, finding a handmade notebook, covered with the same patterns of hour glasses that covered his own door. He looked up at his mother, curious about the choice.
“Well, Brunito, I know you like coming up with stories and making plays, so now you have a special place to write it all down so you remember them all.” The woman’s explanation made sense to him, and he couldn’t believe he’d never thought of that himself. He thanked her with a smile and a quick hug.
Finally, Julieta, always the most patient of the three whether she wanted to be or not, carefully opened the paper of her gift. She beamed when she saw that it contained various packs of seeds. The girl had been talking for a while now about how she wanted to start her own herb garden as a complement to her skills in the kitchen. She thanked her mother as well.
Now that their gifts were done, the set of siblings all gave each other looks, before announcing they’d be back really quick and running straight out of the room. Alma had a hard time keeping her eyes from widening in shock as the three of them came back, all helping to hold a wrapped object that was relatively large and flat. They placed it down in front of her.
“For you Mamá!” Julieta told her. Bruno watched nervously, while Pepa bounced on her heels while waiting.
Alma slowly peeled the paper back, and was taken aback by the sight before her, letting out a gasp. The painting staring back at her was of her amor, her Pedro. She sat in stunned silence as a few tears she hadn’t even realized were there began to roll down her face. The triplets began to worry that they had done something wrong.
Bruno spoke first, concerned for her, “Mamá? Is everything okay?”
“Oh no! Did we make you sad? We didn’t want to make you sad,” Pepa added, the scent of rain beginning to surround them all as she started to get anxious. Julieta waved above her sister’s head before any cloud even had a chance to form.
“N-no, mi bebés. This is- Es perfecto. I love it,” She crouched down, carefully setting the portrait down, before capturing all of her kids in a crushing bear hug. She was still crying, but she also smiled at the three of them, “Now, let’s find a spot where everyone can see this.”

encanto | vampire!minho x gn!reader
Tumblr media
word count: 1.2k (bulletpoint drabble)
pairings: skz minho x gn!reader, lightly implied minsung
warnings: obv theres gonna be mentions of blood but its not that graphic tbh. brief mentions of drinking as well.
a/n: this is just an old drabble i found lying around while clearing out my docs i thought id share but it rly is just a drabble. enjoy anyway tho
ok SO… there was this club w a bit of a reputation
“PANDEMONIUM”
sounds like a good time but the giant sign where the “PAN” and “IUM” were faulty and flashing on and off was… ominous
in fact, ominous was the perfect word to describe the feel of the club
but something about it was alluring, at least just for one night to check out
besides, creepy vibes aside, they played some cool tunes that still went hard without being the same remixed pop edm song for 3 hours so it seemed like a good time
you went with a few of your friends but they all got lost in the commotion way too quickly after a little bit of drinking
usually you’d be annoyed, but it wasn’t so bad when you caught eyes with a handsome stranger across the room, how cliche
and predictably enough, soon he’d slid into the barstool next to you, offering to pay for your drink
you noticed he didn’t have one though
“shouldn’t you buy yourself a drink first?”
a smirk spread across his gorgeous features,
“i’ll get my drink later tonight.”
strange, but maybe he just wasn’t much of a drinker?
you didn’t think much of it, accepting the offer for your drink so you could flirt with this mysterious man a little more
He introduced himself as minho, and you two talked up a storm, full of cheeky winks, flirty comments, cause boy was he charming
he just had this aura about him that was almost… hypnotising
you were reciting your digits before you could even mentally process the intent of his comment
you’re not sure when you left the bar, but all you know now is being pressed up against the wall of a more secluded, darker corridor, and he’s kissing up your neck
you can just feel the smirk against your skin, that same attractive smirk that hadn’t seemed to leave his face all night
you think he’s going to kiss up till he eventually reaches your lips, but suddenly, you feel a sharp pain in the side of your neck
just before you can make any noise of pain, the piercing feeling is all gone, and the euphoric feeling that follows hits you like a tidal wave
your vision grows hazy, the beats of the club fade down, and you can’t help but pull minho closer, tangling a hand in his hair and wrapping a leg around his torso
your mind is completely blank; just white noise, lost in whatever it was, but you have no idea how much time passes before you’ve regained your senses
once you do, you’re outside the club, and minho’s smiling at you with his mouth shut, his eyes sparkling with childlike innocence
“are you okay? do you want me to walk you home? it gets dangerous being out alone this late.”
you blink to yourself a few times, trying to fill in the blanks, but it’s all a little hazy. you have the memories of leaving the club, but it just doesn’t feel… real. almost like a dream.
you briefly wonder if he put something in his drink, but you could feel yourself fine, you weren’t limp or weak - heck, you could feel alright, it was almost the opposite of a date rape drug
all your senses felt heightened, and minho was like a magnet
just him standing there was overwhelming but you were so drawn to him. you wanted to know him more
you accept his offer, wordlessly nodding in confirmation while you tried to set your mind straight again
surprisingly, he doesn’t overstay his welcome once he reaches your house, he simply bids you farewell - who even says farewell in this day and age?
minho, apparently
still a little light headed, you decide to think about it when you’re no longer intoxicated, going to sleep and sleeping in till noon the next day.
even in the morning, all the memories are hazy. and you can’t even blame the alcohol, you weren’t even the least bit hungover.
what…. happened last night?
you wrack your brain as hard as you can but it still all felt like a dream, even more so now that you’ve slept
but the unexplainable lure to minho remains, and you can’t help but text him
“you going back to the pandemonium tonight?”
trying to sound a little less desperate, you do a quick check before adding,
“heard there was a cool live gig there tonight. 3racha or something…”
his response comes not long after,
“sure thing angel. i’ll see you there.”
you were more excited about it than you’d like to admit.
the following night at the club was no different to the previous one; you woke up the next day with no explanations and no memories that felt real
although, it felt just the slightest bit more real than the first time, considering you knew what was coming
you waited till the following week to go again, trying to have idle conversation with minho over text
but he didn’t seem like a keen texter
his replies were always short, and they didn’t sound like a direct conversation ender, it wasn’t cold
yet, as soon as the conversation starts getting anywhere, he leaves you on read
weird.
the next time you go to the club, minho’s waiting for you, and he greets you with a charming smile
it’s almost like groundhog day, because its happening all over again
as soon as his face goes anywhere near your neck, it’s like you’re hyperaware of every sensation, until the haze takes you away again
but no, you were really wanting answers, so you stopped him this time.
you try to block his mouth with your hand, only for the same sharp pain followed by the haze, only, this time, it stops.
it stops and you’re not outside the club, minho is still in front of you and gazing at you with a mildly horrified and almost shocked expression
you lock eyes with him, then looked down at your hand
on the side of your index finger were two dots, and there were smears of red around them
“m-minho…?”
he’s frozen, not knowing how to react, and you could almost swear theres something poking out from under his top lip
you daringly move your hand forward to gently grab his chin, pressing his upper lip with your thumb
the slight shift reveals two pointed canines, stained scarlet
you’re still light headed, but you’re sure the sudden blur and gust in front of you followed by the absence of minho was real
minho was… a vampire?
but surely… surely vampires couldn’t be real, right?
plus, you’re still alive, what’s with that…
you go home and realise minho has blocked your number
just like that, off with the wind, like he was never there in the first place
you asked around in confusion, but nobody knew of minho, or had seen minho, and soon enough….
...neither did you.
it had been a few months, and you found a new but strangely familiar club you wanted to try,
although the half flashing light made it a little uneasy, the place had good songs, so what was there to lose?
you caught eyes with a mysterious stranger on the other side of the club. he had an orange-haired boy in his gasp, tugging him by his hand to a more secluded place
you don’t remember ever seeing this man before, but the way he smirks at you makes you feel like you should know him
but then he disappears down the corridor, and no matter how hard you think, there was only one word you could remember.
encanto, encanto...

WELCOME TO THE NIGHTMARE SCENARIO:
Magnus is living in Vietnam when they catch up with him. He doesn’t hear them coming because, well, vampires of course and also because you don’t expect vampires in the dead of a monsoon morning, the sun still sliding in and out of the torrential skies. He’s seated at his desk, pouring over an old summoning document, fingers pressed to his foreheand, when someone loops their arms around his shoulders from behind and breathes, “Found you,” in his ear.
He freezes, his heart jack-hammering in his chest, his breath catching in his throat, as the vampire standing behind him very casually, presses a kiss to his temple, then his jaw, then his neck…
“You… did you kill Jace?” Magnus asks, throat tightening. “Did you finally do it?”
There’s a pause, then, “He was dying already Magnus. He offered.”
“Did he really or did you take liberty on an old man with late stage dementia?” Magnus’ hands curl into fists, pressed down against the desk in front of him, his spine ram rod straight as the immortal behind him cards lazy fingers through his hair, pressing their face against the nape of his neck. “Answer, me Alexander. Did you kill him so you could be a Daylighter?”
A silence. Then:
“I waited,” he murmurs. “Until the very end.”
Magnus draws a sharp breath, a sting of grief coming swiftly, then flowing away. “I thought you loved him? How could you?”
“I waited,” he repeats, “because I loved him.”
“You don’t do that to people you love.”
“I do,” he says, almost sadly. “I already did it for Izzy. So Jace was easy. He was the last one, Magnus. I’ve got no family left now but you and her so…” He presses another kiss into a  line of muscle in Magnus’ neck, kissing his way from his collarbone to the back of his ear, breathing, “There’s nothing to distract me now.”
“Alec,” Magnus breathes, a crawling dread diffusing across his skin, chilling him even in the tropical heat. “Are you… are you here alone or…?”
“Of course not, darling,” said a voice nearly five-hundred years familiar to him.
Camille Belcourt appears in a dark blur before him, shadow-stepping from somewhere to here, leaning against his desk. Her long hair is coiled up on her porcelain head, her lipstick ruby and immaculately lined and matte. She smiles at him and her fangs glisten ivory against the plush red of her lips and Magnus panics. He starts to move, but Alec is faster – he seizes hold of Magnus’ wrists and yanks his arms back, pinning his hands behind the back of the chair. Just as quickly, Camille is no long standing, but straddling his lap, her bare toes brushing the hardwood floors as she fits her fingers to his jawline.
“Oh baby,” she says, “give it time.”
And she kisses him. Magnus wrenches his body, bucking up in his seat, but Camille is silky steel on top of him, trapping him underneath her, Alec Lightwood-Bane pinning his arms behind him so he can’t conjure. The thought brings tormented, sanity-breaking tears to his eyes. He makes a single, sob-like noise against Camille’s lips, but she doesn’t notice.
Alec’s murmuring in his ear, softly, “If you wanted to get away, you could. You don’t need your hands for magic, Magnus. C’mon.” His grip on Magnus’s wrists is bruising, cold. There’s a brush of fang in his words when he smiles against Magnus’ skin and there was a time that he’d grown familiar with that, learned to love that, and now it just makes him want to lose his fucking mind. “Stop playing. Do it or don’t.”
Fire ignites in Magnus’ fingers, blue, coating his palms and dripping flame on the floor.
Camille ignores it. She keeps kissing him, thoroughly, her hands fisted in his hair, her tongue warm and bitter in his mouth as she gets a decade of separation pressed into a single, starving exploration. She rocks her hips against him, laughing against his teeth when he flinches back, when his entire body recoils but he still doesn’t use the fire. It’s in his goddamn hands. All he has to do is let it spread, let it wreath him in flame and protection. That’s all he has to –
“I missed you,” Alec says. He presses his forehead against Magnus temple. “I missed you, Magnus.”
“Stop,” Magnus begs.
Alec is kissing his jaw, his throat...
“Alexander, please. Please don’t do this. Not you. You promised me. You promised –”
Two brilliant needle-points of pain flare then fade into the side of his neck, an instant glow of venomous euphoria spreading from the twin injection sites and Magnus feels the world slip sideways in his head. His muscles buzz and go slack, the dull nerve-shivering pleasure of the poison terminating through his body from the highway point of his jugular vein. He shudders, gasping, his heart breaking again along long-worn fault lines and separating in his chest as brutal as open-heart surgery. His husband stops biting him at last and gently licks the blood away, saying…
“You taste good, Magnus,. You’re so fucking beautiful.”
The fire is out in Magnus’ hands.
“Stop me if you want me to stop,” Alec says.
“Why can’t I just tell you to stop?” Magnus cries. “Alec, for the love of god, please –!”
A hand closes in Magnus; hair, yanking his head back and to the side and for the first time in a decade, Magnus is face to face with him and, of course, he hasn’t aged a day. He looks exactly like he looked on the day he died. Just thirty-two years of age and still beautiful as the day Magnus met him. A little broader in the shoulder, a little more time in his eyes, a deeper set in the lines around his mouth. But he looks the same. Warm hazel eyes hold his stare, his features so familiar it makes Magnus homesick just looking at him and it’s more than he can stand.
“No,” Alec murmurs.
Alec grips his chin between his thumb and forefinger, forcing Magnus’ face up when he tries to look away.
“Look at me,” he whispers. There’s that hum of encanto in his voice. Magnus is impervious to it, but he does it anyway. “Look at us, Magnus.”
“Please don’t.” Magnus is hyperventilating at this point – venom and panic making him wild. “Please. Don’t do that.”
“Stop us,” Camille breathes, rising up in her seat. Her hands lay spread against his chest, the cradle of her hips pressed against his body. She curls her fingers around the nape of his neck and looks down into his face, leaning slowly into his lips. “Stop us if you don’t want it.” She kisses him and her tongue sends silky threads of heat down every nerve. “Stop us if you don’t want it.”
“Camille, please –”
“I love it when you beg.”
“You can’t do this. This is too fucking far. You have to stop.”
“I don’t have to do anything unless you make me. So defend yourself or just admit you missed us, Magnus. Those are the only options, love.”
“Don’t make me. Don’t make me. Alexand—”
Alec kisses him. It’s like coming home. Magnus opens to him without meaning to and he tastes his own blood on his husband’s tongue, shuddering as Alec licks into his mouth, sucks gently, then not gently at his lower lip before taking his mouth again and kissing him like it’s still New York. Like it’s still okay. Like they’re living in the loft in Brooklyn and they’re still happy and joy shoudn’t have a flavor and that flavor shouldn’t be bitter and copper and cruel but that’s what it is when Alec kisses him. Magnus feels sanity sliding away, ripping through is fingers like razor wire.
Eventually, he pulls back.
Camille kisses the lobe of his ear, murmurs, “Just admit you still love us.”
“I can’t hurt you that’s not the same,” Magnus rasps, helpless, utterly trapped. “Please. That’s not the same – it’s not –”
“Close enough,” Camille says.
Then she sinks her fangs into his throat at the same time Alec leans down to have his mouth. It’s raining outside, the downpour thundering against the roof and windows. It will be impossible for anyone to hear what happens here.

Pairings: Bruno x OC Warnings: none Notes: And another chapter in the bag! Had trouble with what part to draw, but I couldn’t resist drawing the little rat With a coat on! So that’s the image we got! Thank you again to everyone who’s reading my little story. You have no idea how much I appreciate every one of you.

Bruno placed his hands on his ears trying to drown out the woman’s scream.
The sound piercing his already aching head.
He could feel his gift fading away when the dome of sand stopped it’s momentum, raining down on the two of them.
Aurelia shielded her face from the falling sand but quickly looked back up at the man with the glowing green eyes.
She couldn’t breathe.
The fear she felt from what she had just seen, on top of everything else that had happened, had reached its peak.
He removed his hands from his ears and opened his eyes, which were no longer glowing.
Bruno turned to face the woman and realized how scared she was, looking up at him from where she had fallen.
It had been a long time since someone had looked at him like that. So long that he’d forgotten how small it made him feel.
“H-how did you get in here?” he repeated, taking a step toward Aurelia.
“Mantente alejado, diablo!” she managed to cry out, grabbing a handful of sand and throwing it up at him.  Giving herself some time to push herself up and run to the entrance of the vision cave.
Bruno wiped at his face and tried blowing the sand off of his lips.
He definitely wasn’t expecting a night like this.
Aurelia struggled to open the large door, which had slightly closed.
“Wait!” Bruno called, finally getting the last bit of sand out of his mouth.
Aurelia gave the door one strong desperate push, opening it enough for her to run through.
Her whole body felt like it was made of lead.  She thought for sure there was no way she could run fast enough to get away from the demon behind her.
All the prayers she’d been taught in her life raced through her mind.  Accompanied by pleading and various curse words.
Just before she got to the bridge connecting the never ending stairs with the entrance to the cave Aurelia subconsciously decided to continue her streak of bad choices for the night.
She took a moment to look over her shoulder to see if the man was behind her, causing her to trip over her own feet toward the edge of the cliff.
There was nothing around her to grab onto or save herself with. She was falling and she was sure this would be where everything ends.
As she fell, though, someone reached out and grabbed onto the back of her belt.  Forcefully pulling her back away from the ravine and back into the person who had saved her.
Which, not surprisingly, was the man she was running from.
The two of them fell back onto the ground with a loud thud.  Giving them a couple seconds of relief before Aurelia realized who she was lying on and pushed Bruno away.
“Don’t come near me!” Aurelia hissed, scooting back on the ground until she was pressed against one of the stalagmites that grew up from the ground, “I know how to fight and I won’t let you kill me easily, demon!”
Aurelia lifted her fists and felt ridiculous immediately.   What was she going to do against a man who, she thought, had just disintegrated another person right in front of her.  Especially from a sitting position.
“Demon…kill you?!” Bruno questioned, pushing up onto his knees, “I just saved your life!  Most people might say, oh, I don't know, thank you!”
“Thank you? I saw what you did to that other woman and I won’t let you do the same to me!” she growled, still trying her best to sound imposing but feeling helpless while she did.
Bruno almost wanted to laugh at what she was saying but kept it in.
“You’re…you’re not from Encanto, aren’t you?”
Aurelia ignored his question, keeping her fists up and hoping he didn’t come any closer.
The two remained where they were.  Neither knowing exactly what to say or do next when the little rat with the blue coat poked itself out from where it had been hiding under Aurelia’s braids.
“Tina!” Bruno exclaimed.
He reached out intending to take the rat off of Aurelia’s shoulder.
She responded by dropping her hands to her side and looking away, closing her eyes as she did so.  Her body tensing up, preparing for whatever the man was going to do next.
Bruno stopped himself.
The sight of this woman being so scared that she was now pushing back against the stalagmite like she was preparing for the worst bothered him more than anything had in a long time.
Which was saying something.
“Listen, I’m not going to hurt you.” he reassured, raising his hands, “What you saw wasn’t what you think it was.  I’m…is it alright if I take my friend off your shoulder?”
Aurelia opened an eye and slowly turned her head to face Bruno.
She didn’t know if she could trust him, but she still nodded.
Bruno slowly leaned forward and gently took the rat off of her shoulder.
He took a few scoots back away from her.   Trying to give her the room he felt she needed.
“We were worried about you, Tina.  We couldn’t find you anywhere, now I see you were just busy making friends.” Bruno said to the little rat in his palm,
“Better get going. Everyone will be relieved to see you.”
Bruno placed the small rat on the ground and watched as she scurried back toward Aurelia.
They both looked up at each other then back down to the little rat.
“She seems to like you.” Bruno said with a soft laugh.
Aurelia extended her hand like she had before to pick Tina up but made sure to keep her eyes on Bruno.
“You’re not scared of rats?” he asked.
She shook her head.
The two sat and stared at each other for a moment.  Aurelia still refusing to take her eyes off of Bruno and Bruno having a hard time handling such an intense stare.
“I-I didn’t hurt anyone.  The person you saw was made of sand.” Bruno finally said, breaking the tension, “My name is Bruno by the way.”
“Aurelia.” she responded after a few moments, “Made of sand?”
“Yeah…you interrupted a vision.”
“A vision?  Is that why your eyes were…” she trailed off but gestured the rest of her thought.
“Yeah.  They do that.  I guess I can understand why you screamed.”
Aurelia nodded and continued to pet the little rat in her hand.  Her mind raced and she figured it made as much sense as everything else that had been happening to her throughout the night.
“Bruno, right? I-I think I’ve had all I can handle tonight.  I’d like to leave, if I can.”
“Yes, yes okay…let me help..” he said, standing and extending his hand to help her up.
Aurelia again hesitated, but placed the small rat on her shoulder and reached out to accept.
Just as she took his hand in hers a sudden shock caused both of them to inhale sharply and pull back.
“Ouch…What was…?” Bruno said, realizing that the worry and concern had returned to Aureia’s face.  “I promise, I didn’t do that.”
Aurelia looked down at her hand then pushed herself up off the floor.  Bruno turned and led her toward the bridge but stopped when he heard another gasp behind him.
“The stairs! The cliff!” she proclaimed.
Where once was a deep cavern with hundreds of stairs was now only about one or two stories.
“Oh, yeah, they do that now.  Sometimes there’s a million, sometimes just what’s here.  I think it depends on if I know you or not…or maybe if I want to see you or not.  We’re still not sure.”
Aurelia closed her eyes and took a few breaths.  Bruno just stood and timidly watched as she tried to calm herself down.  It reminded him of his sister, Pepa.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
She nodded and opened her eyes, gesturing for him to continue leading the way.
