TL'DR: The top 10 men placements would've been the same without the judges adding unnecessary PCS or TES marks.
Now that I've had time to take in the Men's discipline and think about the scores both TES and PCS, I can still say that it was a good competition. Was it fair? Mostly, yes.
Why mostly? Because the places of all competitors were well-deserved. However, the scores are the ones that do not match up.
First of all, we all were sure that Shoma, Yuma and Ilia will put up amazing performances - it was true, the three of them had powerful pleasant skates. Why the need to inflate those PCS? And those GOEs?
ISU judges could've scored fairly and still the skaters would be pretty much in the same place. There was no need for overscoring (arguably, it never IS the need for such a thing).
I had a bit of a shock at Ilia's 100 point. Deserved? Possibly. But PCS... a tad bit too high, but it can be overlooked.
Kazuki was brilliant. Truly, his 100 points were well-deserved, his scores appear to be quite fair, so that's good.
And yet, there comes Yuma with 47 PCS. Yuzuru Hanyu had almost 48 with LMEY at the 2019 Worlds. Yuma should've had around 44-45 today. Then the GOEs... not that uncanny for what was happening, looks mostly good. Except... what's with that 4S GOE?
Shoma, gold favourite. We knew he has potential, we knew he could do it. But 109? I'm sorry, those GOEs for the jumps were too high. Clearly his presentation was better than Yuma's, but he only got 0.2 higher. So now we have overinflated PCS and TES for two skaters who didn't need that to win.
Now, think about the fact that Yuzu's world record was 111.82 with Ballad no.1 and then we have Nathan Chen with 113.97 (although the latter - I have opinions on that as well).
Honest opinion, Shoma should've scored around 105 and Yuma around 103, if 103.
I'm saying this and posting this not because I have something against Yuma and Shoma or any other skaters. No way! I love Shoma and Yuma, their programs, how they skate, their technique and presentation. I'm just upset at how the judges just pushed their scores unnecessarily and couldn't hold ONE competition without the slightest hint of corruption.
(Not to mention that some skaters that are not as good have been underscored, again, without any kind of need to do so.)
Had Yuzu been there? I'm pretty sure he would've been IF slightly above Shoma or just under him. And that's not because he wouldn't have delivered, but because the judges wouldn't have given him fair scores. Honesty, I clean Rondo I think it's worth easily 114 points. But the judges wouldn't have taken away Nathan's WR so soon.

I donāt think you understand trusuvaās reaction as an abuse victim if youāre still calling her reaction entitled and self absorbed. Her reality shattered and she feels betrayed by the people next to her who basically shaped her perception of what she needs to win. She probably doesnāt realize sheās over scored. We all know itās not the skaters fault for being overscored anyway. I donāt think itās fair to expect her in a moment where sheās having a breakdown to conclude that āhey, I should be happy with this silver I got by being overscored.ā That wasnāt here reality.
She was also dealing with the whole doping news. We have know idea the extent of what she might be feeling there. In addition to her coaches claiming the quads would be enough, they are now being investigated for doping too.
Sheās been basically programmed to be the skater she is and that was her reality. This olympics has probably made her lose all trust in eteri. It was gross how that one guy shoved Sasha to hug eteri (while theyāre being filmed) when she clearly wanted nothing to do with her. Making her more upset.
It was a horrible situation that was bigger than podium placements. It was abuse victims breaking down and I think itās off base to imply Sasha is entitled because she was sad she lost the gold.
But that was not what I said. I said that if someone was watching Trusova without having the necessary context and without having the details of the situation than yes, Trusova's outburst came across as entitlement and self absorbent and like she didn't see anyone other than herself, and that's not even in a usual situation but in one that there's legit insane chaos going on around her.
But I do know the context which is why I framed it in a much more nuanced description - it's a 17 years olf girl who has been abused, who put everything she has into the goal of an Olympic gold medal, and who had to endure a lot in order to end up missing it by one or two small errors. When I watched her have a meltdown I got it, I was surprised but I got it. As I said, it was the accumulation of years of abuse that was reduced to a single moment.
Yet we can not only sympathize with the Russian ladies. They are victims for sure and I still feel horrible for them as I said numerous times. But their victimhood managed to victimize every single other skater at that event. It was watching so many skaters robbed of deserving scores while they got inflated scores (Valieva's 141 was still 15 points higher than it should have been, Anna got zero calls though she had 'e' and 'q' all over those skates not to mention the insane GOE and PCS, and Sasha's PCS were higher than Wakaba which is a joke). It was watching Kaori waiting silently for the flower ceremony while Trusova is walking by screaming and crying with cameras following her, it was the emotions of sadness and despair and disappointment so many other skaters who skated that say expressed. It was a shit show orchestrated by the Russian coaches and officials and RUSADA and everyone who didn't protect the Russian ladies from the abuse. But let's not forget that the damage that was caused here was much greater than just the three Russian ladies - it was to 27 other female skaters who had to associated with an event clouded by doping, it's the ladies who didn't even qualify because the Russians had an unfair advantage, it's the team event medalists from USA and Japan who were robbed of a medal ceremony (and will get a medal months in delay), it was skaters like Aliona and Rika and Bradie who got injured trying to keep up with the Russians who got to where they got by doping. The list of victims here is so long it's devastating.
So yeah while I don't criticize her I do get why Sasha is being criticized in some ways, as I said about the Averinas being victims does not give you the right to victimize others, and Sasha, with all the empathy I have for her, acted in a way that hurt quite a lot of people around her (skaters I mean) and have benefited for a long time from a situation that really hurt others.
All I'm saying is that it is a complex and very nuanced situation, and I truly understand and sympathize with everyone involved.

What Sega Saturn games would you recommend?
Actual Classics
The Panzer Dragoon Trilogy. I think I mentioned this in my Panzer Dragoon review for TSSZ, but these were like... the original Team ICO games, in a way. Not literally, of course, but I get a very similar vibe from these games as I do, say, Shadow of the Colossus or whatever. Ancient, quiet worlds, completely unlike anything you get from typical medieval fantasy content. The first game is a bit simple, but things do pick up in Zwei and Saga.
Powerslave. This is apparently a white whale for Nightdive right now, as far as their efforts to revive classic FPSes go. The story of Powerslave is a really weird one. Depending on whether you play on Saturn, PC, or Playstation, you get a completely different game. As far as I'm aware, the bulk of people agree the Saturn is the best version, but it's definitely not unanimous.
Most Sega Arcade Ports. I say "most" because you should probably stay away from launch software (Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 1, etc.) but there are a lot of stellar, almost-arcade-perfect ports out there like Sega Rally Championship, Fighting Vipers, Decathlete, Die Hard Arcade, and so on. Virtua Fighter 2 on Saturn apparently manages the rare thing of being better than the arcade version, with higher resolution output and smoother framerates. I wouldn't classify Daytona USA C.C.E. as a very accurate version of Daytona still, but it has tons of bonus content to make up for that fact, and that content has never appeared in any other release of Daytona.
Fighters Megamix. Not really Sega's answer to the Capcom vs. series, but close enough. All of AM2's fighters come together to battle it out and it's just a good time. Absolutely nothing in terms of story, but there's a surprising amount of single player content regardless. More than most fighting games, I'd argue.
NiGHTS and Christmas NiGHTS. Don't feel bad if you don't connect with these games, as they aren't for everyone, but if you do connect with them? They're incredible.
Mega Man 8. I know this was on Playstation, but the Saturn version is subtly different in a lot of ways, making it a little tougher. It also has exclusive bonus fights against Cutman and Woodman.
Curiosities
Mr. Bones. I don't think anyone would call this a "good" game, but it is a weird, wonderful game -- more of a minigame collection, with a bizarre storyline and lots of rhythm and blues music. Everyone deserves to experience Mr. Bones at least once in their life.
Bug!, Clockwork Knight, and Astal. Rumor has it these were three different experiments by Sega to find a replacement mascot to supplant Sonic. All of them failed for different reasons. The most interesting of the three is definitely Astal, in my opinion. Clockwork Knight kind of got Sonic & Knuckles'd, so even though there are two Clockwork Knight games, they're more like two halves of one larger project. And Bug... the second game plays better than the first but the second game also has some dated racist middle eastern stuff in it that's not great.
Resident Evil. You can probably skip this, but it's interesting insofar as Capcom had to remake a lot of the 3D models for this game because the PS1 assets were totally incompatible with the Saturn. So all the characters and monsters look subtly different. Gameplay is nearly identical, though there are a few small changes, and an extra "Battle" mode.
Legend of Oasis. Sequel to "Beyond Oasis" on the Genesis. Kind of Sega's "Zelda." I own a disc of this game and I've never been able to reach the third dungeon because the puzzles seemed kind of obtuse. But I also haven't played it in 15+ years.
Shining the Holy Ark. I'm putting this here instead of the "classics" section because I've also never beat it. It's a pure dungeon crawler RPG, with grid-based movement and everything. Hard to play very far when your Saturn can't save data because the battery is dead.
Keio Flying Squadron 2. The original Keio was a Sega CD shmup, but this is more of a 2D platformer/action game. It's got that weird, Japanese sense of humor. Pretty nice sprites.
Sonic R. It's just interesting to see how slightly different this version of the game is compared to the PC version.
Shinobi Legions. This has been a mainstay at GDQ for a couple years now where they do a run during Awful Block. By all accounts it doesn't seem like a great game, but it does have a lot of sentai-esque live action FMV.
Super Tempo. Tempo on the 32X kind of reminded me of "Japan's Earthworm Jim." This sequel doubles down on lavish animation and absurd humor, which... kind of makes it unplayable! But dang, it looks good.
Games I've Never Played But Hear Are Good
Burning Rangers. I keep meaning to tackle this and just haven't. Thought about maybe doing it on stream one day, some day. Apparently a progenitor to the camera problems people had with Sonic Adventure.
Grandia. By all accounts it sounds like the Saturn version of Grandia is still the best, most complete version of the game... but it also never got localized in to English, so it's sort of lost to the ages.
The Mansion of Hidden Souls. Apparently half FMV game, half point and click. Was on Sega CD, too. I never paid any attention to it until recently when RetroPals seemed to sound positive about it after streaming both versions of the game.
Three Dirty Dwarves. From the developers of Ecco the Dolphin comes... a bizarre beat'em'up about rude medieval dwarves with attitude getting warped to the 1990's and having to fight monsters in an urban sprawl. Sega pushed it a lot back in the day and then the game fell off the face of the planet, but people have been rediscovering it lately and it doesn't sound like the worst thing ever made.
Shining Force III. I've heard good things about this game, but Shining Force games are turn based strategy and that's not my bag. Also, only episode 1 ever got localized in to English (and apparently the voice acting is stunningly cheesy). There might be fan-patches for Episodes 2 and 3, however.
Dragon Force. This was an early Saturn game that got propped up as a killer app for a while. Also a strategy RPG.
Guardian Heroes & Radiant Silvergun. These are classic Treasure games. I'm not a fan of shmups, so I never touched Radiant Silvergun. I think I own Guardian Heroes on XBLA, I just haven't ever booted it up.
Dark Savior. This is apparently a sequel to Landstalker and by all accounts seems to be a game people liked, but I've never ever investigated it even a little bit.

Thoughts: WTT Day 1
The ladiesā short was chaotic.
Ā Iām happy for Liza, skating another clean short, and Annaās short was very nice too.Ā
Kaori absolutely crushed it, and Iām so excited to see the Matrix on Saturday. Also, her 2A deserves all the GOE, that thing is huge.Ā
Rikaās triple axel was a no, but everything else was really good. Hopefully skating from behind in the free can take some of the pressure off her, but sheās still struggling with URs.Ā
Yuzuru and Nathan were so good! Honestly, two almost perfect shorts from both of them made my day. Yuzuru saved that 3A, and if it had been clean heād have won the short, but his jumps and expressions were way better than at Worlds. Nathanās 4T-3T was a little rocky, but his short was also really good. Seeing them so close going into the free makes me so excited!
Kevin! Yay! So happy!
Misha did really well, but his jumps were not quite as smooth as at Worlds. Still great to see him consistent. And I want a clean Nuryev tomorrow.
Jasonās Sinnerman was to die for, and he deserves higher PCS still, but seeing him skate is the ultimate privilege. Amazing. And his jumps were incredible here.
Poor Shoma. His boots broke three days ago, and you can see it in his jumps and spins. He was smiling after, though, which is incredible. He just needs to pull a Keegan Messing and tape up his boots. Tape can fix everything, right?
Shoutouts to Evgeni, who held together again, and Adam Siao Him Faās wacky short that I both love and despise. Also, Roman Sadovsky did really well, great job.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One, two, three and four
The seconds tick by on the clock in my workroom. The sound sensitive LED border of the clock lights up whenever I cough. I find it hard to breathe, the wheezes between breaths are loud, so I take a puff of my inhaler sitting on my desk next to my pc. Itās been difficult to walk lately, Iāve made a steady recovery but my legs sometimes feel like the pores are being replaced with lead- heavy and cold. Despite this though, I make my way over to my bedroom. My roommate isnāt home yet, despite how late it is. The walls of the hallway echo my footsteps, the pain Iām in not reflecting with the sounds. āI need to take my medsā¦ā My room, surprisingly not as messy as I thought. Clothes here and there, an undone bed, but overall everything is where it should be. My legs shuffle into the bathroom connected to my room, locating my paracetamol and prozac.Ā Click, click!
I think this time I'm dying
I open the paracetamol with ease, it hypnotizes me. Quickly opening the prozac, my breath becomes jagged- confused. Water flows after the pills, hindering the struggle it would have been, but I feel the same. Panicked and afraid. What's wrong with me? Do I need more? Is there something else? I'm scared, pissed off and lonely- āI'm overthinking this.āĀ But am I? Nonetheless, nothings happening. My legs still feel like hell, and the cold invisible hand is pinching the skin behind my neck, but when I claw at it nothings there. My eyes distantly shift to the pill bottles on the counter. I can feel myself trying to look elsewhere, but my general focus is on the pills. I need more.
I'm not melodramatic
Just 1 more of each should do. Just to be safe. I'm just being safe!Ā
I'm just pragmatic beyond any reasoningĀ
Better safe than sorry, right? I take another drink of water and wait for the relief to set in, but it never does. My legs are aching even more and the fact that there's no effects is just making me panic more. What's wrong with me? Why isn't it setting in fast enough-?!
For thinking I've got f*cking rabies or something.
More. I need more. Maybe that's the problem, I'm just not taking a high enough dosage! I look down at each of the bottles, reading the label for the prescription. āTake 2 per day when symptoms arise. Contact your psychiatrist if a higher dosage is neededā āI know what I'm doing.āĀ There's something wrong with me, I can't bother contacting anyone. I need relief now. Out of impulse, I down both of the bottles and drink more water to allow the pills to travel with ease. Then, I just wait.Ā
I think this time I'm dying
Pain shoots up from my stomach and sprouts to my head like a sapling. The room morphs and shifts and scrunches up like clay. Am I in a dream? I look down at my hands to pinch myself, shaking, blurry and full of vibrant colors.Ā Ā
I think this time I'm dying.
F*ck.Ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I've lost my mind.Ā
The world morphs and moves without my eyes permission. My stomach hurts more than my legs do. The reflection in the mirror, a pale, sad and confused blur. The pain isn't going away, it's growing worse and worse. Pins and needles pricking and scraping along the inside of my abdomen, there's millions of them. Every deep breath I take is a dulled stab into my chest. Was the original concern as big as I've made it now?
Blurring the fact and the fictions
Everything is so unreal. Why did I do this again? Where am I? My memory becomes a flickering bulb, dying out from being strained of its power. My concept of time and object permanence is foggy, but that's how I know something is wrong. But what? Am I blowing things out of proportion or is this bigger than a prescription?
While simultaneously fixing myself up with a girl named panadol.
I looked down at the empty paracetamol bottle, I did the right thing- right? My intentions feel like they've been beaten and whipped with a fork, scrambled and confused with each other. But I did what I did, it still hurts though. A pang of regret stabs at my throat for a second, but the desire for relief overrides it.
Bite the tablet, elixir
The elixir! My hands swiftly open the cabinet again, desperate for elixir. I quickly find, it- half a bottle of elixir should do. As quickly as I found the bottle, I downed half of it and quickly drank more freezing cold water from the sink.
Disintegrate, mouths a mixer
That's 3 different types of pills. 3 different remedies! I'll be alright now, right? I should be, but I can't stand steadily anymore. My arms are violently shaking and my legs are about to drop. The sight is horrifying, everything is flickering from absolute darkness to furniture and walls melting like an ice cube. Am I blinking? I can't tell.
I think I've lost my mind
I can't handle this. Am I in mild pain or are things dire? I want the pain I had before, less overwhelming. I have no control anymore. The front door opening and closing shut was barely audible for my ears. āWil? Sorry I came home so late, I had a client come further into the day.āĀ My legs give in, and a loud THUMP rumbles through the house as I fall onto the tiled floor of the bathroom. I feel the satisfaction of my eyes rolling into my head as my eyelids stay confused on whether or not to close or to stick open to stay alert. āWil?! Wilbur are you alright?!āĀ Her footsteps rush to my room and into the bathroom to see my frail and hurt body on the ground with the pill bottles strewn on the counter.
I think I've lost my mind.
āWILBUR!!āĀ She rushes to my side and drops to her knees. Her shout was so loud, it made me snap back into the present. After checking my pulse and checking if I'm still breathing, she frantically digs through her coat pocket and dials 999.Ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I could just break one more night
I can hear my roommate crying distantly after hanging up and putting away her phone. I don't understand...why do I need an ambulance? I was helping myself, wasn't I?Ā
Maybe I could wake up and feel alright.
I could have gotten past on my own if she hadn't found me. I would have been just fine. I'm tired, just in general.Ā
I optimistically set my alarm clock time
I had something to do today? I forgot. I can hear my alarm clock from my bedside table blaring at me, screaming at me to get up. There was a subtle jolt of excitement that shot up my neck, or was it anxiety? Fear? Adrenaline? Denial?
Serves only to mock me with flashing lights.
The sound seems to go on for longer, despite my roommate rushing to turn it off. Its turned off, but I can still hear the sound of it echoing through the room, bouncing into my ears. My hands raise to cover my ears, but the sound just gets louder and louder. I haven't gotten up yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I've made my choice
Everything is jumping around slightly, the paramedics in the ambulance looming over me, reaching for tubes and clear pouches. I feel something warm on my right hand, my roommate is sitting there with my hand in hers while trying to keep herself together.Ā āDonāt worry Wil, they're gonna fix you up and you'll be just fine...!āĀ She says it like sheās trying to reassure herself more than me- she's more worried about me then I am for myself. One of the paramedics sitting next to her speak up with a clipboard in hand. āYou said he overdosed?ā āYes, I came home from work and there was a loud thud from his bathroom. I ran over and he was barely conscious on the floor with pill bottles all aroundā¦ā
Iām a deceased playing victim
I...I overdosed?Ā How did I not notice? No no, there was something wrong with me, that's why I took so many! But...was I wrong? I was just scared! I didnāt know that this would happen, its not my fault!
Slip the face, slip the victory.
I can't run away from myself, Iām my own shadow. I was scared. I am scared. This is all my fault. I took the pills, no one forced me to. It was me who did this. But, Iām not too angry with myself. Despite my impulsive actions, I don't hate the situation I've thrown myself into.Ā
I think Iāve made my choice
If I don't make it out of this, I won't be disappointed. If I do, then that's alright too. I dug myself into this, so don't I deserve to suffer the consequences?
Sit secluded in hatred
Iām such a bother to her, this is the second time she's had to deal with me like this. The hospital probably hates me, but I won't bother to apologize. I meant what I did both this and the last time I was sent there, they shouldn't be helping me. But Iām not suicidal, I insist.
Void the plans friends are making.
I shouldn't have set my alarm. I would have stayed asleep, made things less stressful. Why did I even set my alarm? Nothing special was happening today, I don't have plans with anyone and the only thing I was supposed to do today is work, and that's later in the day. Most of my friends don't even like me that much, they don't invite me to places or acknowledge me so can I even consider them friends? The only person who even tries to pay attention to me isā¦isā¦
I think I've found my voice
āI...Iām..-ā My roommate quickly looks down at me when she hears me speak. Her eyes show it all, shocked and relieved. Her skin is still puffy and red around her eyes, but she doesn't bother to hide it. āThank the lord your alright...what were you thinking?!āĀ She speaks in a hushed tone, intending to not startle or overwhelm me more than I already am. She doesn't deserve this, my paranoia and issues aren't hers. āIām...Iām sorry..ā I hear my voice for the first time in a while, it's gravely and dry. She looks down at me and her features seem to have softened.Ā āWe're almost at the hospital, you're gonna be alright.ā
I'm a leech sucking blood bags
I've been living off of her this entire time. My hardships were always nonexistent, weren't they? All of my tolls were never mine to begin with, her generosity is what she replaced it with. And this is what I'm giving her, more and more to deal with. But she doesn't have to, right? It's her choice, it's her fault. I'm not guilty.
Taste defeat, it's a sandbag
As soon as the vehicle stopped, I was urgently rolled out the back and rushed into a hospital room. I can hear the doctors and nurses arguing back and forth rapidly, one after the other.
Saline solution
I hear from the wad of voices.Ā Hm, so they're desperate as well it seemsā¦ My mind decides not to bother with their procedures, instead I just leave it all to them. It won't be on my hands if they fail after all, right?Ā
Saline solutions to all your
A set of doctors rush into my hospital room while a nurse rolls in a cart filled with who knows what for me. IV tubes are hooked up to a hanging pouch and attached to my arms.
Saline solution to all your
My eyes are squinted from the obnoxiously bright lights scattered in the hospital, the white walls making me develop more of a headache. My head flops to the left, seeing my roommate outside the window in the hallway. She's pacing around frantically with her phone up to her ear. I then turn my head to the right to see a slightly foggy pouch of saline hanging above me, the IV tubes connecting the liquid to my internal damage.
Saline solution to all yourā¦
One of the doctors helps me drink a small amount of the saline solution and then hands me a small trash can. My stomach is crying and screaming in pain and mercy. Tears prick the corners of my eyes from the guttural pain, but it'll be out of my system soon.
Problems.Ā

My Computer been acting kinda funky as of late...well for a while but itās been on and off. I thought I needed a new power supply but that wasnāt the issue. Seems that I need to upgrade my gpu. When I go to snowy escape, my whole system would just shut down. Ciara and Jase are stuck on vacation for now so I went to see if I could play Ainjel(to see if my system would act up) and sent her on vacation for three days. I was able to play her through the three days so I decided to share her little time there since my PC is tripping super hard. I will be installing a new gpu myself.
Anywho Ainjel was at home doing her little house duties (as if she doesnāt have a live in butler) because being a celeb didnāt mean to wait around for someone else to do things for her (Even though she has a butlerĀ š„“). She also deserved a vacation for all the hard work sheās been putting in. Now all we need is for her to work toward her second award.
Ainjel relaxed in the hot tub, did a little skiing. She was not going to give up so easily no matter HOW many times she came tumbling down that hill. Later, she went on a hike to the tower. Along the way, she took pics and showed her respect (I missed the opportunity to take a pic of her bowing to the grave stones). Along this hike, āAinjel was attacked and injured by some Denkimushiā. I guess her having a higher fitness skill is what saved her. Not sure if she got a jar of Crawling Critters Powder or not from the vending machine.

We are talking about the same person! Omg! Yes that one is absolutely on the path to saesang! At first they were pretty nice but to even go so far as to buy the expensive ass clothes/accessories he wears!? Thats fcking weird, period. Yeah I may like somethings they wear, clothes or accessories wise (Shownu's Capteen Bvlgari set ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ gorgeous!) But I'm not going to go out and buy the stuff! All while updating lil gremlins on the process/dilemma!
Granted I love Burberry, I have painfully expensice taste and a painfully empty bank account, and if I could afford it I'd have a few pieces in my collection. However I liked Burberry well before I saw any of the guys wearing the brand endorsements, heck I liked it before I even knew about Monsta X!
I actually got some broadcast pcs from them and never again. I am firmly against GOs cause it takes to damn long to get the stuff and has a higher risk of the package getting lost or damaged due to being shipped via individual instead of a comapny. And broadcast pcs? I have another individual I think I'll contact for broadcasts instead from now on.
And like... knowing their job, how tf do they afford that expensive stuff.. all the time!? There's no way unless they are/were independently wealthy beforehand or their family just kinda throws money at them... no normal foreigner in their job position could afford to buy all the stuff they do (I've my research for both study and work in SK for myself as someone who loves the culture and history amd wants a better understanding just to be clear on my interests, its not for my faves).
Which hey cool, that's their business for how they spend their money but parading that around sns is so suspicious and an elitists mentality and just... shitty (no other word for it tbh). And they suck the random 1 or 2 album purchase fans that win fansign/video calls into the lil elite group thing and suddenly that individual gets into the events all the time with their "sponsor" asshat, to borrow your wording.
Also I used the wrong signature with that first ask š but yeah Suni's GIF and Sus anon is the same person š¤£ I contemplate A LOT about fandoms it seems
Iām not surprised weāre taking about the same person, sheās a big name in Twitter mbb i noticed š she annoys me so much with her victimizing behavior like sheās always like āoh my god someone says I need to tone it down with the fansign stuff how dare they š I deserve the fansign as much as anyone elseā omg stahp youāre embarrassing. Itās very interesting how the fans act like stans where if you talk bad about the GO host then weāre gonna drag you like ?????? what does that solve?
I also like Burberry but thatās long before I knew of Mx, but I always thought of Burberry as rich Vermont fashion š
I participated in a group order because the website I was ordering from was giving me a hard time to purchase internationally. Another group-ish order I participated in was back when twotuckgom was like 75% off and I managed to get a zizi WAY cheaper than I would anywhere else but it was from one person who did a few orders for friends, so it was different. Iām still never going to do a GO again because I got suspicious over the draw of the fansign happening long before I got the product. I looked at who got into the fansign and I recognized her name as well as her friends. You canāt convince me otherwise. I totally agree that they must be independently wealthy in order to afford buying signed merch and all of these fansign tickets and albums. Not everyone could afford that and itās ridiculous that only a handful of people could afford to buy in bulk (but then they try to sell their extra albums and itās so funny how they bump up the price like +++)
Omg what I hate is when they sell their signed albums like three times more than they originally got them for and people still fucking buy it. What I hate even more is when fans get signed albums and theyāre like āboooo I didnāt get my bias š I donāt want this album anymoreā šš¼
I saw that people were selling the Mx dolls on eBay for like more than twice they were selling for and itās embarrassing. I will never sell my babies, I really hope doll makers produce more! But not just the Mx dolls but any kpop doll they would sell them for like 40+ bucks but in reality I ordered them for like 28 š¬ (shipping wasnāt bad but it still didnāt make it 50+ in total)
#hi sweet sweet anon š„ŗ#šš¼šš¼šš¼#suni told me some blogs blocked her after she criticized some fans and Iām convinced theyāre in on the scam#there is one blog in particular that blocked her and ever since then I donāt look at them the same way cause thatās too suspicious

I know you mentioned that Bill wasn't included in ILM because you didn't know much about his personality. Out of curiosity though, if you had included him in the fic, how would you have integrated his history of being in the middle of a zombie apocalypse that couldn't have happened for the other characters? Or like, what approach would you have gone with?
Oh this is kind of a tough one! I donāt know Bill well, because I havenāt played Left 4 Dead, but that actually wasnāt why he isnāt in the fic. I stopped including survivors after Jane Romero, because DbD updates so much that I hit a point it was either add more characters but know you wonāt have time to develop them and give them the character arcs they deserve because youāre nearing the end, or stop adding people, and itās always better to whole-ass less then half-ass moreāespecially with characters that are awesome and really deserve some due diligence. While Bill is actually one of the earliest survivors released for DbD (he was...siiixth or something? Like right after Ace? Or Nea?), thatās only for PC. On PS4 and Xbox, he wasnāt added until much later, and I play DbD on PS4. So, for me as a player, Bill wasnāt actually released until after Ash was. When I started writing, I was kind of vaguely aware he existed on PC? But I had 0 personal experience with him, and so I went with my own/console experience when it came to writing.
As for what Iād have done, thatās a dang good question, and Iām not entirely sureā Iād definitely have thought about it longer if I had included him, but Iāll give you what I think I would have done? Obviously, Billās not from the world the rest of the survivors are. While almost any of the stories can coexist with minimal changes (NOES 2010, Halloween, Stranger Things, even Ash are more or less fairly easily compatible), zombie apocalypseācouple things I know theyāre bound to notice, ya know? Still, I stand by multiverse being both unnecessary and not the best decision for the story I want to tell, so what I think Iād have done is this: (under the cut bc itās gonna be long af--get ready for some quantum theory lol)
Okay, so the Entity canonically can operate outside of natural time. Meaning it can take survivors from earlier or later, and isnāt on the same space-time fixed relationship the world is. Now, time travel is tricky. Or anything with a complex portrayal of time. But there are three basic setups for time travel potential that actually make sense. They are as follows:
Anything that will happen, has happened (or the Artemis Fowl timetheory). This one is pretty straightforward. Sure, you can travel through time, but the universe you live in right now where you are choosing to go back is the result of the past you caused. The change youāre causing is past-tense already, and the only real agency you have is in causing the circumstances leading up to where you already are. This still allows for some fancy manuvering (for example: want to save a friendās life? No problem. You canāt remove the motivation to go back, so you in the past still have to believe they die, but so long as you didnāt like, hold their severed headāif itās a situation like say, you saw them blow up, you can save that personāyou just have to make sure your past self still sees them ādieā in the explosion and thus chooses, as you did/are, to go back.) This is my personal least favorite theory of space-time, but itās a solid one.
The second is the The Future is not Set (or the Back to the Future timetheory). This one says time is flexible. You can go back and kill your father before youāre born, and the future will change. How ripple effects happen are varriedāfor example in strict timeline variations of this theory such as those in Frequency or Back to the Future, if you cause yourself not to be born, time will catch up with you, and while the impact you left on the world remains, you, as you no longer are born, will vanish from existence as the time stream corrects itself. However, more lenient time streams such as the versions in Continuum or Futurama exist as well, where even if your effects on the world prevent you from being born, the version of you currently alive continues to exist as an anomaly. This is by far, in my opinion, the most enjoyable solid timetheory.
And last (unless you count Time Travel is Impossible as a solid theory which I guess technically you can??), theory three (or the Doctor Who timetheory). This theory portrays time as possible to change and allowing for alternatives to be taken, but not in all places and ways. It presents very hard limits on what can change, and offers a much more inflexible time continuum than theory 2, as well as much higher consequences for causing alterations. Rather than direct cause-effect consequences, like vanishing because you caused yourself not to be born, usually the result of tampering and causing a change of large size is that you will create time paradoxes, which the time stream itself desperately will try to destroy/fix, usually horribly and with massive and brutal force. Things like Life is Strange fall into this theory as well, with Dr. Who being on the lenient end of this spectrum and LIS the strict. It offers the technicality of a changeable future, but none of the true and almost wild freedom offered by variations of theory 2. Basically, any large scale or personal change you cause will rip holes in the universe, and either you will give in to fate and re-allow the loved one you saved to die, or you push on through and accept massive time-space damage and casualties for the choice. Iāve got mixed feelings on this one myself, as Iāve seen it handled super well and made a thing that can be fun, but it also is the theory that pisses me off the most when written poorly haha.
Anyway, massive time theory talk over, in Dead by Daylight, the Entity can traverse time canonically. In ILM, the survivors only talk briefly, after meeting Jane, about theories for how that works, but here is what I would say if ILM had included Bill. To preface, there are two timelines that each follow the same set of basic rules, but have a little freedom in how they effect each other (not so much in how they effect themselves): the Survivorās world/reality timeline, and the Entityās pocket dimension timeline. Neither timeline can contradict itself and create paradoxes within its own space. So. Bill is from the same universe as anyone else. At one point, the early 2000s followed the narrative of Left 4 Dead, and the Entity grabbed Bill where & when he ādiesā in canon. Only, some time after grabbing Bill, the Entity took another person which (completely unintentionally on the Entityās part) triggered a massive Buttery Effect on the world, and greatly altered reality, causing not only the Left 4 Dead apocalypse to no longer occur, but causing Bill himself to never be born. Bill however was already outside of the world and in the Entityās pocket dimension at the time, and thus was not there to be āerasedā and exists as an anomaly. While he is paradoxical in his own world, he does not at all contradict the Entityās established timelineāhe adheres to it. While the memory of survivors is effected and updated by changes made in reality by the Entity, because there is no version of āBillā in the world anymore, he did not have his memories altered (there was no āBillā for the timestream to update at all, as he is entirely an anomaly now, so it would have no reason to try). The world they exist in has a time continuum that operates off a variation somewhere between theory 3 and theory 2 (the future is not set, but also there are fix pointsāhowever, these almost exclusively exist in regard to oneās own past. The big rule is that personally making the act of altering your own past intentionally by nature also alters your motivations for acting in the first place, and thus negates the possibility of you doing so. While you can change other peopleās pasts, or accidentally effect your own, you physically cannot change your own intentionally, because youād create either a paradox or a time loop, and it would rip you apart).
Dwight is more or less correct when he hypothesizes that they might have all remembered a world with Jane Romero still in it until an hour ago. However, all of ILM itself is that version of time/reality (ie the ālastā or āfinalā version, as it were/the version that came into being when Jane was taken). Her loss butterfly affect updated people, and so they remember her being missing. While the Entity could hypothetically someday accidentally do things that make it so survivors arenāt born in the external reality, it cannot do so intentionally or accidentally-on-purpose, because it is bound by the rules of its own personal history/timeline, and it can neither intentionally nor accidentally do a damn thing to prevent what has transpired inside itself from happening. Similarly, since the survivors are established as existing inside it, even if they were erased at birth, they would still exit it intact in November of 2019 with all their memories. The Entity thus has no real way to hurt them even in revenge, unless it is willing to risk taking them again from a later point in time. Most small decisions do not have buttery effects that are very large at all, and in general time attempts to smooth out with the least possible changes. What happened to Bill was a one in a billion fortunate/unfortunate chance thing, and was such an unlikely thing to happen in the first place, the chances of a thing like it happening again are astronomically small, and almost completely certainly would not to occur. In some ways it would be nice for him though, because he could escape back to a peaceful reality where many people he lost are still happy & living. While they donāt remember him, people would still have the echos of their past inside them (feelings of deja vu, memories in dreams, attachment and familiarity with people you never āmetā) and he could reconnect with them if he wanted and live happily with old Left 4 Dead crew and his new survivor family. : )
#ask#anonymous#writing#In Living Memory#In Living Memory (fic)#dead by daylight#for the record I'd spend /way/ more time fleshing out a time-space theory before /actually/ writing it in a story#but this seemed like a pretty solid take for an 'along these lines' answer

"In a race with error-free programs for both, the victory would go to the Japanese.ā
-Ā Massimiliano Ambesi
ā(...) You did not mention it, but I would like to know what your opinion is about the numerous complaints that have been read about the scores of the men's race. What was your idea about it? "First of all, Nathan Chen is a worthy winner of the final and he deserved the result on the field, but he is not worth the scores obtained. At this moment, there is a clear problem in the attribution of the degree of execution and in the evaluation of the components of the program. More quadruple jumps cannot mean higher PCS in automatic and above all in the absence of the required requirements it is not possible to assign an oversized execution degree to the jump elements, but not only. The current scoring system can no longer stand in these terms. I am not just making a problem of disproportion between the technical score and the program components, a fact known to most, but I believe that the situation has worsened considerably with the change in the attribution of the GOE established at the beginning of this Olympic four-year period. In my opinion, the current regulation is not applied in the correct way because no judge, and I challenge anyone to prove the contrary, is able to assess in real time or almost the many elements of the programs by making precise reference to the six bullets provided and any deductions to be applied, without forgetting that at the same time it is also necessary to deal with the five items of the program components. With this statement I do not mean that the judges are not up to standard, but simply that the current GOE allocation system is not applicable in a short period of time. The example in this sense is represented by any segment of the race this season. I invite everyone to compare the quadruple salchow performed by Hanyu and Chen in the free Turin program, jumps that have inexplicably obtained the same GOE. So, if for reasons that I consider understandable it is not possible to apply the regulation as it was conceived, perhaps it would be the case to think of something different in such a way that everyone can be adjusted accordingly, avoiding losing credibility. Obviously, I start from the assumption that there is no bad faith even if, after seeing a series of figures at work, the doubt comes to me. In any case, I try to remove it and go ahead, albeit with many doubts. Corrections are needed and they are needed as soon as possible, but I am not convinced that those responsible must be able to intervene ā.
If you answer me like that, then I can't help wondering if Yuzuru Hanyu can beat a Chen who actually brings every planned item to random. "In a race with error-free programs for both, the victory would go to the Japanese. On this I have not the slightest doubt because it remains a step forward on every item of the score. In the free city of Turin, the base value planned by Hanyu, also counting the maximum degree of execution attainable, was eight-tenths higher than that of Chen. Therefore, a starting situation of substantial equality. It is clear that Chen is more familiar with completing five quadruple jumps. The American in this sense has benefited from having a less costly skating in terms of profuse energies with a clearly lower track coverage and with more parts on two feet, all this despite Hanyu simplifying his free program with respect to the past to succeed in perform five quadruples. It should be noted, however, that the leaps of the Japanese are better in quality, which means greater height (in the final all the jumps were taken and the difference was embarrassing), amplitude, entrance, exit position and much more. From an athletic point of view, Chen proved to be superior and it is on this aspect that Hanyu will have to work to reverse the situation. Furthermore, an important difference concerns the location of the jumps. Chen starts with the three elements of greater weight net of the bonus, including two combinations, and has a second part lighter than Hanyu, who instead intends to perform three difficult combinations as the last three jump elements. I think that in Toronto you will also have to think about this aspect. In general, I remain of the opinion that the discussion on the PCS cannot really be posed as the Olympic champion has margin on all the items, in particular the less discretionary ones like skating skills and transitions. In the short program, then, the difference is even more marked. It is clear that for Hanyu it remains necessary to complete the planned jumps. In Turin for the first time in his career he has managed to perform five quadruples of which four are different, including lutz. Of course, this will be an important starting point for the future. For the rest, we just have to wait for the next match (...)".

Can We Discuss Temtem?
This is going to be a weird conversation, which is why I want to preface this before I get into it. This piece isnāt anything likeĀ āTemtem is the SSO killerā or shit like that. However, I do really want to discuss this game for its merits because of what it means for SSO. Let me explain.
Ok, so Temtem is a recently released monster battling MMO that just came out on Steam. Itās basically a Pokemon MMO, but that does it a disservice. While there are obviously a lot of elements that it shares with Pokemon, I genuinely think the developers focused on different core mechanics when fleshing the game out. The whole game is built around 2 v. 2 instead of 1 v. 1, and there are loads of really interesting mechanics involved with that system that arenāt in Pokemon, as well as its own twists on things like PP with the Stamina system. With that said, even without being a pro gamer, Temtem is a relatively casual MMO experience. Iāve never really played a lot of Pokemon, but Temtem has done a good job of explaining itself and presenting a charming world.
Now, that doesnāt mean the game is perfect. There are some concerns I have about the economy, very similar to my concerns I have about SSOās, in that the clothing is currently WAY overpriced, though it functions differently than SSOās in that itās a permanent unlock. There also is some lack of stability with the servers, though thatās improved significantly over the past three days the game has been up (went from crashes every 30 minutes to every 2 hours in three days, which is a huge improvement. Not to mention there arenāt queues anymore). Itās also lacking in the social element right now with no chat or group functions, but the game is only three days out. If you donāt have a lot of patience for early betas, Iād probably suggest passing on this game until itās more stable, but overall, itās a really solid game and I do recommend it.
But what does any of that have to do with SSO? Right now this is just me gushing about a different game on an SSO blog. Well itās because of what this game is. This obviously isnāt aĀ ānon-combatā game like SSO, itās a monster battler. Much like Pokemon, itās basically combat game for kids, and as such Iād lump it into aĀ ācasualā gameplay kind of experience, much like SSO is. Iād say itād attract similar crowds cause of the laidback vibe the game gives off, which is also the appeal for SSO. But itās more than that.
Iāve said for a long time, sooner or later, SSOās going to get competition. Part of the reason right now they get to get away with the exploitative high prices compared to other MMOs on their microtransactions is because there isnāt anything easily accessible in the market with them. But thatās changing.
Alicia Online has been out for a while, but I know from my own experience that that game can be difficult to run with any kind of security software installed, and also because of the nature of how itās run, itās less accessible. Not as bad as trying to play on the Korean official servers when they were up, but less accessible than SSO. Sky: Children of the Light is another really good free casual MMO, but itās currently only on mobile and I know Iāve set it down until itās available for PC. Iāve recommended it a bunch and know that itās pending port to Android has turned people off too. That makes it also inaccessible. Likely to change, but currently only available to iOS users with devices strong enough to run it.
But Temtem isnāt that. Itās an increasingly stable (I imagine in the next few weeks, reliable so too), solid casual MMO. It has solid mechanics, pretty visuals, and a wide age appeal (it also has they/them pronouns and no genderlocking in character customizing, but thatās another topic). Itās got easy cellshaded graphics that most computers can run and itās been really well optimized so thatās not an issue for higher end rigs. And itās on Steam for $35.
Look, I love SSO. But if I had a friend ask me for a casualĀ ānon-combatā MMO right now, Iād recommend them Temtem. Itās more affordable, itās got more clear and accessible content, itās got an extremely honest and straightforward dev team who have been open to feedback from the get go and clear explanations on direction and bugs, and right now the economics are mostly reasonable and being negotiated with the community. And I know based on polls Iāve run with all of you, money is a reason you donāt recommend people to join SSO. In fact, itās the leading reason in my polls. But for the same price as Lifetime for SSO, which is the most reasonable deal to get to play SSO, you could get you and a friend a copy of Temtem. Thatās two players to every one of SSOās.
Again, Iām not here to sayĀ āTemtem is the SSO killer.ā Not everyone is gonna be into monster battling games. However, it is clear with Temtemās success and with Skyās success as Appleās Game of the Year, that casual MMOs like this are in demand. And theyāre being made, putting themselves in the market at a far more reasonable price than SSO does, significantly more in line with other MMOs in the industry. SSOās days being the only casual MMO in the market are running out.
Something has to give. Honestly, a lot of things need to give. This isnāt a threat to the SSOās devs, itās an observation. If SSO wants to remain competitive, wants to remain viable as a business, it needs to meet industry standards at least somewhere. Even with $75 being reasonable for a game that doesnāt do expacs, we have to admit that itās a turnoff as a bar for entry. $30 for one horse skin is enough to buy another game, one that might let you earn that skin without waiting two months. Waiting months for half an hour of content when other MMOs deliver hours isnāt ok, and SSO needs to move to less updates to be able to produce better content like that regularly.
I know players are going to pitch hell about this because weekly is what we expect for updates and any time I mention price changes thereās always someone up in arms aboutĀ āSSOās devs deserve fair prices.ā But as someone who aims to be SSOās competition one day with Rangers of Faewere, this has nothing to do with me wanting the game out of business. Itās me wanting that competition. SSO deserves a space in this market and I want it to have a space in this market because this game is filled with charm and zany adventures and wonder that I have been following since launch. Itās why I wanted to make Faewere, itās why I got into game analysis, itās how I started Youtube seriously and met so many of you. I want SSO to survive for a long time.
But the industry is changing and SSO isnāt going to be alone for very much longer in it. Somethingās gotta give. SSOās been the most accessible 3D casual MMO for a long time, but itās biggest hurdle is its price. And someone just put themselves on the market in a serious way by charging half SSOās entry fee. I donāt know what Temtem will do for its microtransactions, but I hope SSO takes a serious response. Because I want them in this market, and they canāt when the competition is charging $35 or less for entry.

Ambesiās WinterĀ Corner - Figure Skating
Iām a figure skating fan, Iāve been a casual one for some years now, and since last year, Iāve got more involved with groups and everything. I love learning new things, so I took the opportunity of being surrounded by so many people who know TONS about it and ran with it :D. Iām on an international fan group and one of the best commentators about the sport is the Italian Massimiliano Ambesi, who is really so interesting to read and listen. So sometimes, with other Italian fans, I help people in the international group by translating Ambesiās commentary or articles. This is an extract from Winter Corner, where he talks about severl winter sports, and I translated the part about figure skating. I hope itās useful somehow! This is the original article: LINK Q: Massimiliano, letās start with one of our features in the feature. In your opinion, who was the ATHLETE OF THE WEEK? A: āForever and ever Alena Kostornaia: in the Grand Prix final in Turin she was the clear-cut winner of the competition, with the highest technical level ever seen in the history of the sport, and she even allowed herself the luxury of establishing a new World Record. By the way, it is possible that in the sum of the components she could go even better, allowing her to get more than 250 points in a spotless competition, and all this without quadruple jumps. At the moment, she represents the best synthesis between technical skills and artistic quality. The only minor flaw in the final was that she was not the winner of every single segment of the competition, as she had been before. In the free skate her training companion Anna Shcherbakova preceded her by mere tenths of point. For this, it was determining the triple axel + triple toeloop combination although from a negative point of view, that she completed with less quality compared to the one at the NHK Trophy some weeks ago. In any case, Alena improved her personal records in every segment of the competition, both TES and PCS, and this, at the end of the game, is definitely resounding because, we can say it now, she competed with a problem of unknown gravity to one shinbone. The victory in the Grand Prix Final will probably guarantee her a place for the European and World championships regardless of what will happen at the Russian National Championship.āĀ
Q: A question arises then, if you want a bit obvious. Who can beat her? A:āThere are three skaters that can have the chance to compete with her at the same level, both in this moment and in the future. As for the future, itās impossible not to mention the Japanese Rika Kihira, although she needs to recover her full physical health, and, consequently, the triple Lutz she had to forcibly put aside. In the short-term, instead, Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova, who were preceded by Kostornaia at the Grand Prix Final and are ready to get their re-match in the imminent national Championship at the end of December. The other skaters, in a way or another, are several steps behind as demonstrated not only in the Grand Prix Final, but during the whole season, in which three of Eteri Tutberidzeās students have annihilated the competition in any context. Obviously, the staff directed by the coach with Georgian origins deserves a mention because they established a long series of records that, from now one, can only be matched.
Ā Q: As we opened with Figure Skating, letās keep it as a topic. Iād like to have your comment on the results of the other competitions on the other Grand Prix Finals that were held in Turin. A: āWe witnessed four competitions with clear-cut results, besides the final leads. In the single competitions, the victory went to two skaters, Kostornaia and Chen, who completed every planned element, improving the world record. In the Ice Dance and even more in the Pair Skating, the indisputable favourites of the eve won, Papadakis/Cizeron and Sui/Han, although there was some minor mistake here and there. The most problematic segment of competition was the Rhythm Dance: during that you could feel the competitorsā tension, but everything got back to normal for the free dance.Ā
Q: You havenāt mentioned it, but I'd like to know your opinion about the multiple complaints about the scores in the Men's single competition. What is your idea about it? A: "First things first, Nathan Chen is the worthy winner of the final, and he deserved his result on the field, but his skating isnāt worth the scores that he gets. Right now, there's a clear problem on the attribution of the GOE and on the evaluation of the program components. More quadruple jumps can't automatically mean more PCS, and especially when the necessary requirements are not present, over-scoring the jump elements should not be possible, but it's not just that. The current score system doesn't work well right now. It's not only a problem of lack of proportionality between the TES and the PCS, which is well known, I also think that the situation was way worsened when they changed the GOE attribution system at the beginning of this Olympic four-year period. In my opinion, the current rules are not applied correctly because no judge, and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise, is able to evaluate in real/almost real-time the many elements of the programs, with precise references to the six bullet points that are to be referenced in the rules, to the possible deductions that may happen, and don't forget that at the same time they also have to evaluate the five scores of the components. With this statement, I'm not saying that the judges are not competent to do that, but simply that the current GOE assignment system is not applicable in such a short time as what they have. The example, in this sense, can be represented by any segment of the competitions in this season. I invite everyone to compare the quad Salchows made by Hanyu and Chen in the free skate in Turin, jumps that, inexplicably, obtained the same GOE. Thus, if it is not possible, for reasons that I think are understandable, to apply the rules as they were thought, maybe it would be better to create something different, so that anyone can adjust accordingly, and they can avoid losing credibility. Obviously, my premise is that there's no deceit, although, after having seen some people at work, I might have a doubt about that. In any case, I'll ignore it for now, and go forward, even if I'm quite perplexed. We need corrective measures, and we need them as soon as possible, but I'm not convinced that those who are in charge of these decisions may be able to intervene."Ā
Q: With an answer like this, I cannot help asking you if Yuzuru Hanyu can beat a Chen who, in fact, is able to carry out every planned element. A: "In a competition with spotless programs for both of them, the victory would go to the Japanese skater. I have no doubt about it, because he is one step ahead in every score entry. In the free skate in Turin, the base value planned by Hanyu, counting the highest GOE possible, was 0,8 points above Chen's. Thus, they are on basically even ground on this. It's clear that Chen is more at ease in completing five quadruple jumps. The American skater, in this sense, is favoured by his skating: he spends less energy because he clearly covers less ice and has more two-footed skating, and this advantage still remains even though Hanyu had to simplify his free skate, compared to the previous ones, to be able to put in five quadruple jumps as well. In any case, it needs stressing that the Japanese man's jumps are better in quality, which means more height (in the final, the height for every jump was measured and the difference was embarrassing), the width, the entrance, the exit position, and a lot of other elements. Chen demonstrated to be superior on the athletic point of view, and on this part Hanyu will have to work in order to overcome this situation. Besides, another important difference is where the jumps are placed. Chen starts with his three most difficult elements in the first half (not in bonus zone), and two of them are combination jumps, and has a second part that is lighter than Hanyu's, who instead wants to execute three difficult combinations as the last three jump elements. I think that in Toronto they'll need to think about this. In general, I still think that the comparison on the PCS is out of the question, because the Olympic champion has an advantage on every item, in particular on the less subjective ones, like skating skills and transitions. Especially in the short program, the difference is even higher. It is clear that it's still necessary for Hanyu to complete every planned jump. In Turin, for the first time in his career, he was able to complete five quadruple jumps, of four different kinds, Lutz included. Surely, this is an important starting point for the future. As for the rest, we can only wait for the next competition.Ā
