Okay, now one for the TAM!!
This one is for Rice, cause I love him too, but I feel it’s funny asking this question since it deals with an opposite of his being.
What’s a positive approach to your tics? ☺️🙌 Much love 🫶
Rice: Opposite of my being, indeed. But I appreciate you asking it. Preference of course will change depending on the person, so do not take what I say as universal. Though there are some general rules, as "laugh with me, not at me." If I have a particularly amusing tic, you may laugh at it. Especially if I snicker at it myself. But do not laugh at me for twitching, etcetera. Nor if it was a painful tic. Laughing at a tic can even be reassuring. It helps to know you are comfortable enough around them to laugh, instead of simply sitting there, awkward and quiet. Thank you for listening. Much love to you as well.~
#i couldn't think of what else he might talk about on the subject#kgfjb but#laughing is a big one#some people might not want you to laugh at their tics unless they are laughing. which. valid ofc#but me and i feel like all my boys aren't as strict with it#all the other crispies i think would say the same as rice#tam ask event#tourette's#rice sans#nightmare tourette's sans#undertale#utmv#didderd art#didderd asks#caycanteven#sorry this one took all day#i have been very distracted

Momo - La'Stiara Rabbit Chat translation
Please note that I am not a professional translator and I'm only doing this to share the side materials to those who cannot access them, if you notice any mistakes please let me know nicely. Enjoy!
Momo: Heyyy Yuki-san heyyy
Yuki: I’m here
Momo: Oh. here comes Yuki!!!!! 🫣🫣 what are you doing right now?
Yuki: here comes yuki
Yuki: Harvesting pea sprouts
Momo: Now that’s the best lololololol
Momo: You’re the handsomest for doing that in the middle of the night. Well no, it’s too cute. But also still too handsome
Yuki: Who did you go drinking with today?
Momo: How did you know I was drinking!?!? I went with Gakuuu!!!
Yuki: Gaku-kun, huh. I can also tell you just finished drinking and you’re in a taxi
Momo: Whaaat!? Are you watching me from somewhere!?! Could this dandy driver actually be Yuki in disguise!?!?
Yuki: That's hilarious
Yuki: You always send me a rabbichat out of nowhere like this after drinking, pretty amusing how easy it is to tell because you're always in high spirits.
Momo: I guess my darling can see right through me…🥹
Momo: Whenever I'm drinking, I always think things like “Yuki would like this flavor" or "I'm sure Yuki would laugh a lot if I told him this story" so…
Momo: When I'm having drinks without you I just really wanna chat with you afterwards...🥹
Yuki: You say such romantic things
Momo: I feel that sense of comfort you get from being back home…
Yuki: Would you like some peaches? You've always liked them
Momo: That's right, you always remember the things I liked when I was younger...
Yuki: Here, I made plenty of stewed dishes, so take some with you. I also packed some rice crackers and candies. Don't overwork yourself.
Momo: That's how it is right? you always made me take home more food than I can eat by myself...
Momo: But you sound like Old Man Yuki right now lololololol your image of a family house is way too high!? lolol
Yuki: I just watched a TV drama about stuff like that
Yuki: Were you and Gaku-kun shooting for "La’Stiara" at the same time?
Momo: No, we just happened to bump into each other at the studio after the shoot!
Momo: Gaku didn't have any plans after that, so I invited him for a drink
Momo: He said “I'm so happy to go drinking with you for the first time in a while, Momo-san!" he looked so happyy~~
Yuki: How cute
Momo: Isn’t hee~~!! 😳 I almost gave him the gem I had on me 😳
Yuki: That's funny. Though Gaku-kun doesn't seem that interested in jewelry
Momo: that’s right lolol but he has a dignified face so I’m looking forward to seeing the gem + Gaku combo picture released to the public 🥺
Momo: By the way Yuki! We were talking about instant tempura soba. Do you add the tempura before or after you pour the hot water!?!?
Yuki: Now that sounds like a drinking party question
Momo: We were talking about buying tempura soba from the convenience store as a late-night snack and it somehow turned into a conversation topic lol
Yuki: Momo, you put it in first then add the hot water, right?
Momo: Yeah!! I ate it that way first because I thought I’d get a bigger portion that way but I grew to love it 🥹 It soaks up all the flavor and it's delicious!!!
Yuki: Yeah, I get it. The juiciness is delicious
Momo: Right!?!? As expected of you, Darling!
Yuki: What about Gaku-kun?
Momo: "I like to taste both the crispy tempura and the smooth texture of soba, so I add it afterward."
Yuki: I get it. Enjoying different textures is important
Momo: Huh!!!! But you just said you understood my way! Are you a post-water tempura person? 🥹
Yuki: I eat them separately.
Momo: lololololol a surprise third option!!!!
Yuki: I thought it might be interesting.
Momo: Yuki, you're always making conversations more lively during drinking parties, you’re so handsome,,,!!!!!!!
Yuki: I know
Momo:
Momo: Can I take you to this place I took Gaku to next time? It's pretty lively though
Yuki: Of course. Was it a good place?
Momo: Actually it was opened by the manager of an izakaya I used to work at back in the day!!!
Momo: Do you remember it? The place with the really delicious rolled omelets!
Yuki: Isn’t that the manager who used to pack you meal boxes to take home?
Momo: Yes, yes!! Isn't that a huge coincidence!!! He even recognized me!
Momo: He said he buys our CDs every time
Yuki: I remember him. He used to hand out flyers for our concerts to the customers at the izakaya.
Yuki: He was a really nice guy. Now that I'm looking back, we were really blessed with the people around us.
Momo: I really think so too. And because of that I wanted to chat with you even more, Yuki!
Yuki: Let's take a bunch of our juniors there to repay the favor. I'm sure he'll be happy to see how successful of a senior you've become.
Momo: Yeah...! If I told my past self that I'd become the Absolute Kings with you he'd be super surprised.
Yuki: If I told my past self that I learned to appreciate people and the environment surrounding me right now he'd be surprised too.
Momo: But Yuki, you've always been super, super kind, you know!? you wouldn't have accepted my unreasonable request otherwise
Yuki: Momo
Yuki: Let's talk about this in detail tomorrow. We've been reminiscing about old times a lot lately, but it feels like a waste to only rabbichat about them
Momo: Yuki...
Yuki: And
Yuki: sleepy
Momo: lololol you must be sleepy right!!! Thanks for chatting with me 😆😆
Momo: See you tomorrow, Yuki!!
Yuki:

in honor of us being blessed w/ more gaming leaks today: i've been contemplating his favorite dim sum dish for a while and finally decided on one >:D
cw for mentions of game leaks and food under the cut!
there are so many dim sum dishes to choose from so i basically had to hone in on one by ruling out categories
also i'm assigning him a fav dim sum dessert bc i feel like desserts deserve their own category ><
first of all, i intentionally did not consider larger dishes, such as salted fish fried rice, crispy soy sauce fried noodles, etc., bc technically you can get those at any chinese restaurant, not just a dim sum one
second, i'm excluding expensive dishes you'd typically only see at banquets, such as crab, lobster, etc., bc i'm trying to hc a dish he'd be able to order often when he goes out in a party of 4
third, since canto food is generally light and mild, i think he'd prefer this type of cuisine over food w/ strong spices or flavors. that isn't to say he can't handle or doesn't enjoy stronger tasting food, but i think milder dishes are what he'd go for if he wanted comfort food
now. since he has to stay in shape for his guard duty and performances, i don't think he'd like having fried food often. i think he'd prefer smth lighter so he wouldn't feel sluggish. this would exclude fried calamari, xo sauce stir fried cheung fun, fried pumpkin w/ salted egg yolk, etc.
i'm gonna rule out vegetable dishes too (sorry vegetables!!) bc even though they're good, they're typically not the highlight of dim sum
moving on to other dishes, i'm ruling out har gow and siu mai (don't come at me for this) bc of the fact that they're standard dim sum dishes. yes, they're yummy and are telling of the quality of the dim sum restaurant, but i don't think he'd say they're his Favorite dish out of all the options. i have nothing against har gow and siu mai ok, it's just that i don't think he'd pick one of those as his top favorite bc it's standard to order them every time you get dim sum anyway.
even after ruling all these dishes out, there are still a lot left at this point. so, to make my life easier and bc i felt like it, i decided to hc that gaming likes sweet food. you may ask why and my answer is 1. bc i can, 2. bc it would be gap moe of him to have an energetic, fiery personality while preferring gentle sweets, and 3. bc i can. again bc it's canto cuisine, it's mild sweetness he's looking for.
after deciding on this, the two dishes that came to mind were char siu bao and phoenix claws. it's really funny that i thought of char siu bao bc judging by the look of gaming's recently leaked specialty dish, it's steamed char siu bao.
additional hc: i think he really likes char siu bao, and if he had to pick he'd go for the steamed kind rather than the baked kind bc it's soft and fluffy. interestingly enough, i decided on this prior to the leaks about his specialty dish, the description of which says it's steamed. mhy and i are on the same wavelength fr.
that being said. i'm gonna rule out char siu bao specifically because it's food you can eat on the go. because the story blurb in gaming's drip marketing says he spends his leisure time at the dim sum restaurant, i think he'd want to order smth he doesn't usually get to eat and smth he can take his time enjoying.
in conclusion, i think his favorite dim sum dish would be phoenix claws, which fits those two criteria. it's sweet, a dish that you can only get at dim sum restaurants, and he can take his time savoring it.
as for his favorite dim sum dessert, i had an easier time deciding bc i decided on the steamed char siu bao preference hc beforehand. i'm gonna go with the steamed custard buns bc they have a gentle sweetness and are also soft and fluffy. do you see my vision here? it's all coming together.
thank you for coming to my ted talk, i love him a lot as you can see
#genshin gaming#i was tempted to hc a favorite tea for him but i don't think i can reason it out#it's more of a taste preference thing#also i had the fun idea of deciding his preferences for dishes like the steamed vs. baked char siu bao#or crispy noodles vs. flat stir fried rice noodles (idk how to romanize it so i'm describing it lol canto ppl you know what this is right)#maybe i'll do that later hehe#anyway. i've been thinking about him a lot and i'm super excited for him#his animations are gorgeous i really could go on and on about them#i also love how canto ppl are adopting him bc same he's my little guy and i'd defend him with my life#it's also extremely funny how ppl are saying he has the same or similar name as them or their relatives#i can also relate to that hahahaha#genshinposting

I was tagged by @parts-of-me-unravelling, thank you ^^
Rules: Tag 10 (or less) people you want to get to know better
relationship status: content
favorite color: it's never just one and it really depends on what it's for - I usually say black as I wear all black 90% of the time (it's only mostly black the other 10%), but I also really like deep darker reds and greens. It used to be purple (and red) when I was a kid.
song stuck in my head: none at the moment actually (can you believe it?), and I appreciate that :)
three favorite foods: my three current favourite low-effort same foods are vegetable soup with rice noodles; vegan-chicken-schnitzel-thing on a crispy bun from the oven with cucumber, tomato and lettuce; and frozen pineapple (I do live up to the name). If we're talking food I do not have to cook myself... There's so many very nice vegan dishes with a good load of vegetables and rice from all sorts of cuisines, as long as it's not spicy (as in hot) I usually am extremely happy with such things. (Some well-roasted potatoes are also always a winner.)
last song I listened to: Oh uh, I don't know what it's called. I'm trying out this classical CD in the car right now because I want to finally find all the composers I really like. I didn't particularly like it though - this current compilation CD is horrendous.
dream trip: something chill in nature, get me all the leafy forest areas with water nearby! I want to meet all the trees. I am very used to camping but it seems rather nice to have a cabin in the woods to stay in, if this is a dream trip. But I like trekking around a bit too, seeing different things every day, and I also really love swimming (especially in clear, non-salty water) so if that's part of the trip as well we're really winning. Somewhere quiet and peaceful, I want to be away from all the noise and people, and just feel free and relaxed. I want to look at the stars and be able to see them properly. I don't really know what to say if I have to answer this considering a "where" exactly, but I do want to leave the European continent sometime. If all goes to plan that will happen this year (places to be, people to meet ^^).
last thing(s) i googled: if I'd answer this question it would be "how to find out the last thing I googled", because I haven't a clue how people know XD
Ok let's see, tagging people. (Sorry if you've been tagged before.) Feel free to ignore this if you don't want to do this. @cilogram @dinkydiamond @votedmostlikelytofail @where-did-the-groove-go @sparklepants123 @ron-do-i-get-to-sing-my-way ...Aaaand let's also tag some people that I've been seeing around that I don't think I've spoken to, with a risk of being very annoying... Hello to you all! @carcarrot @taintmansion @crinklecutfry @wiseowlwitch @jen2325 (this tag won't work and I don't know why...) If anyone else wants to do this, consider yourself tagged :)

Do you have a favourite classic novel?
Here is where I feel guilty about all the classics I haven't read. The one that immediately comes to mind is Nineteen Eighty-Four. I consider it one of the most terrifying books I've ever read - mostly due to the scenes between Winston and O'Brien. The "boot stamping on a human face forever," the part where Winston feels as if O'Brien's mind contains his mind and there is nothing he can think or do that has not been anticipated, Room 101 and the endgame being the breaking of the spirit and the betrayal of the other. Eugh. I haven't read that book in years and it still makes me shudder just thinking about it.
Do you prefer baking or cooking?
Cooking! Baking is a pain in the ass. I love baked goods, but the number of times I have had to deal with bullshit from my bread dough because of the temperature this and the humidity that and the age of the yeast this and that and the other thing. I've had so many meltdowns about baking. When it comes to cooking, I love being able to improvise and try things out.
My newest favorite thing to cook is a quick recipe for lemongrass tofu I figured out. It's hard to find lemongrass at non-specialty stores, plus it's usually expensive and there's no way in hell I will be able to use all of it. So I found this lemongrass powder spice at a Vietnamese grocery store. I cut the tofu into thin slabs and brush both sides with a mixture of peanut oil, lemongrass powder, and five spice powder. Then air fry on both sides until crispy. Serve with rice or rice vermicelli + veggies and mix it all together with hoisin sauce and a sprinkle of fish sauce.
Restaurant prices have gone way up lately where I live (and I believe this is the case everywhere) and I'm not really willing to pay $15 for a meal that used to cost $8 except on occasion. So I've been learning to make a lot of things myself that I used to get from takeout.
Do you prefer forests, sea shores, or meadows?
This is a tough one because I love both forests - particularly the coniferous forests of the Pacific northwest - and sea shores. I think I would have to say sea shores. I grew up near the ocean and it has always been a part of me. I hate being too far away from it for too long. I also have an elemental identification with water.
Also, a big strike against forests for me is bugs. Not bugs in general because I like bugs and think they are super cool. But bugs that BITE. Mosquitos, horseflies, gnats, and so on. These bugs seem to find me a particularly tasty morsel and I get bitten five times as much as most people. On top of that, I have strong allergic reactions to mosquito bites and some of them will swell up to a point that painfully limits circulation in my limbs. Every time I dare to enter a forest, I get bites of some kind. Even in the dry climate of southern California, my arms and legs get so covered with gnat bites in the summer that it looks like I have scabies. I see swarms of gnats on the beach and around the lagoons from time to time, but these beach bum gnats have never shown the same interest in biting me as their dickhead woodland cousins.
My ideal would be a place that has conifer forest right up against the coastline, e.g. Big Sur.

Happily stuck at home with Stock At Home PH
I looove food kits. It is perhaps one of the few good things that happened during the pandemic. I love how restaurants and home businesses adapted to serve us great quality food and at the same time it gives us freedom to customize each dish to our liking.
Ever since I watched Mark Weins slurp down an entire bowl of Khao Soi Gai a few years ago, I’ve been on the look out for this classic Thai dish in Manila. A few months ago, the search officially ended when veteran food stylist Sharlene Tan-Aspe of Stock At Home PH shared their Khao Soi Gai kit with me. And on a cool night like this, I can only think of the warmth from this hearty Thai favorite.
First of all, that broth — oh baby, that broth! So light yet so sharp and packed with flavor (I think the chicken base makes it lighter compared to, say, tonkotsu ramen). It’s got a subtle heat to it, just enough to fight off the “umay” factor most curries have. It makes you want to eat more. It’s rich and earthy, spicy but not too overwhelming, the coconutty curry broth comes alive with a squeeze or two of fresh lime and makes it sing. Try it without the lime first so you can appreciate the difference.
Another good thing is that you get to cook the egg noodles that comes with the kit, so you can choose the firmness (3-4 minutes in boiling water is recommended for al dente). The crispy fried noodles complement the chewy egg noodles for added texture. I honestly could eat a bag of their crispy fried noodles as a snack. Petition to sell the crispy noodles in bags.
Each Khao Soi Gai kit also comes with lime, pickled mustard greens, shallots, and their Nam Prik Pao or Thai chili paste (use it sparingly as the broth is already spicy on its own). breaks through the richness and keeps you coming back for more.
This is Khao Soi Neua, the beef version of Khao Soi Gai with a richer, more robust broth. The beef chunks are incredibly tender, almost melting into the broth, effortlessly breaking apart in your mouth. The richness of the broth lessens the heat (compared to Khao Soi Gai), so feel free to add as much Nam Prik Pao as you want.
Each Khao Soi Neua kit comes with crispy noodles, pickled mustard greens, shallots, Nam Prik Pao (Thai chili paste), and the all-important lime wedge. The kit makes two generous bowls. It doesn’t come with eggs, but who’s going to stop you from adding it?
The rainy season calls for a hearty bowl of good ol’ Arroz Caldo and Stock At Home PH's take on this classic Pinoy comfort food sticks to its true form but with a crunchy twist: Shredded chicken meat has been fried ‘til crisp and golden instead of being traditionally boiled. The result? Arroz Caldo with more interesting textures but with the same nostalgic flavors.
The Arroz Caldo kit is available in two sizes and comes complete with crispy garlic, spring onions, hard-boiled eggs, and even calamansi.
Stock at Home PH’s Butter Chicken tastes the way I always imagined butter chicken would taste: Spicy but not hot (it has a lot of spices but not a lot of heat), complex yet warm and inviting. The various spices have come together and gotten to know each other so well, creating a harmonious sauce that’s flavorful, smooth, and simply delicious.
Each tub is good for 3-4 persons (or 2-3 Chings) and it’s freezer-friendly! So you can have it any time you have a butter chicken emergency, like I do every week. The kit comes with your choice of roti or basmati rice.
Stock At Home knows comfort food so well and it’s evident in their Cheesy Chicken Parmigiana, one of the newest additions to their portfolio of homemade goodies.
It’s a complete meal that comes with crispy fried chicken pieces in a bed of marinara sauce and topped with cheese and fresh basil, buttered noodles, and more marinara sauce. The noodles are well cooked and still flavorful without overpowering the chicken parm. The marinara’s savory tanginess cuts through the richness of the fried chicken and buttered noodles, giving each bite more umami.
Merienda, anyone? Aside from full meals, Stock At Home also takes merienda very seriously.
Their Chicken Pot Pie comes in a freezer- and microwave-friendly plastic container, but if you want to get that slightly golden and charred topping, pop it in an oven-safe container and heat it up for a few minutes. The mashed potato top is so creamy and the chicken filling is flavorful and light.
Try to stop snacking on Stock At Home’s Spinach Dip with Whole Wheat Melba Toast, I dare you. It's almost impossible. If you run out of melba toast, it still works well with crackers.
And check out these bite-sized Portuguese Egg Tarts (Pastéis de Nata)! Flaky crust, creamy filling, not too sweet, and just the right amount of bitterness from the charred tops. Don’t forget the coffee!
Keep supporting small businesses, so they can make more amazing products that we can all enjoy. Order through @StockAtHomePH or @TheSevenPantry on Instagram.

today i went to the doctor! she listened to me. so i was able to go get x-rays on my heel! hooray!
i went and got tacos for lunch with my friend chelsie from the school. it was really nice to sit down and catch up with her, it's been a while since i was able to do that. plus we went to mexican place that's relatively new, and we enjoyed tacos together as it was taco tuesday. unfortunately they don't have a deal for tacos on tuesdays, which i think they should because it would draw a lot more people than were there today. when we got there, it was us and a guy at the bar. another older man showed up later. kinda wild.
when i returned home after lunch and my x-rays, i was tired enough that i decided to take a nap. it was really awfully humid today, so despite my air conditioner and its best intentions, it was still relatively miserable in the room. but i slept up until dinner time, when i helped mom with a few last-minute things before we served a table full of random shit that goes on hawaiian haystacks.
to which, when i say the name, i often get confused stares and "huh?" or "what's that?" because it's apparently a midwestern/western/mormon thing that it doesn't exist outside of certain social circles. HOWEVER. hawaiian haystacks are so good and should be had by every child (or adult for that matter) that has ever wanted to eat something different than what was being served.
the beauty of hawaiian haystacks is that they are versatile and able to please a large crowd without much effort. it's a base of white rice, topped with pieces of chicken and gravy, with a bunch of toppings added, finished off with a plentiful handful of crispy chow mein noodles.
on mine, i put cheddar cheese, coconut, pineapple, and peas. chelsea put on cheese, onions, ham, peppers, green onion, and a little bit of coconut. completely different flavor profiles. same table of food. and it's an easy thing to serve en masse or in shifts since it's just two things that are hot and everything else can be cold or room-temperature. doesn't matter. stick a container in an ice bath. have a crock pot. simple as that.
plus it's delicious. and the pickiest can eat everything separately. and it's chicken and gravy, it's delicious.
anyway. go ahead and try making it yourself at some point, because it's so easy to do, too. a jar of chicken gravy and a can of chicken will do just as well as cooking the chicken and making the gravy yourself. plus it all keeps well and you can make something new every time.
this was not intended to be an advertisement for hawaiian haystacks but here we are.
all of that said.
i got to talk to joel a little today - we've agreed on getting a fryer for the apartment at some point. when i finally don't have this job, i'll be able to cook a lot more and if i'm gonna make homemade chicken tendies i'm gonna need a deep fryer. luckily he's on board, if for no other reason than the oil being moved every time you cook. wild.

I think we all have something that would make us say, "there are a lot of things to criticize about America, a lot of things that are really fucked up over here. But this isn't one of them." There are some things for which this statement is true. I think one of them is that this country really is a melting pot. People that come here do invariably, within a few generations, sort of melt into a national average, with the second generation often bridging the gap between their immigrant parents and native children. And with each successive generation there is a little distance between how grandma from the old country did it and how your mom (her daughter) did it and now how you as and adult do it. But there's a few things you keep alive as a sort of remembrance and because it's just something you do, because why does anyone do anything? You just learn to do a certain thing and you do it. Food is the kind of thing that falls into this category.
I had an immigrant grandparent from Japan. When I was a kid there were certain things she did, that we all learned to do ourselves and which we still seem to do today. Using a rice cooker, for one. And making a specific meal of rice with pickles, some kind of protein, a splash of soy sauce, and that's a decent and very cheap lunch. I had that for lunch hundreds of times as a kid. Rice, pickles if we had them (they were a rare treat since it wasn't so easy to get to an Asian grocery store -- later as an adult I figured out how to make my own), and something like canned tuna, Vienna sausages, or maybe something like spam, or maybe roast beef hash, which you warm up in a frying pan and stir in the rice. Put a little soy sauce on top of it. The bits where the rice gets crispy are good. Tuna patties were better than just canned tuna. Breakfast food was good on rice, like bacon and eggs. Ham. Or even a nice steak with rice on the side. Anything, really. Sometimes we'd have nori and we'd basically make onigiri. Looking back now, this was a pretty fun thing to do as a kid because you'd build this thing out of rice, whatever else, and seaweed. I remember they'd toast the seaweed over the gas stove. My parents didn't have a lot of money when I was little and I ate so much rice with a can of whatever for meals. Like three or four times a week, if not more than that. When I visited Hawaii a few years ago, I was intrigued to discover how similar some of Hawaiian food is to the way I would eat as a kid. My grandparents lived in Hawaii for a while when my mother was young (late 50s) and I suppose it must have been nice for my grandmother with there being a good sized Japanese community. They later ended up in the Midwest, nowhere near any sort of community like that. The community she would have would be more military. Veterans' associations and the like.
Anyway, I wonder if my kid will grow up to do the same. Because I probably don't eat that kind of thing with the same frequency now as I used to. There are a few things that I do eat on occasion. For instance, I will make broiled or grilled salmon (basically salmon shioyaki) with rice in the manner I described above. But I'm not busting out the canned fish and meat very often these days. So I doubt my kid would carry on any of that. But I do make a fair amount of Japanese style food at home overall, so that would be a certain element of his life that is a little atypical, something most other families probably don't have. But they'd have something else, maybe. As time passes, some things disappear. This whatever-protein-on-rice thing seems like it might not be handed down much further than to myself.
The experience of figuring out how you relate to the country that you grow up in is surely a common experience across the globe. In the USA -- and maybe other countries in the western hemisphere -- this is often flavored by what you perceive to be your own heritage or ancestry. Whether some of your ancestors came over (or were forcibly brought over) in colonial times on a wooden ship, or were processed at Ellis Island, or who flew over in an airplane. I have a little ancestry in each category, myself. I think there are two ways that a person can approach looking at their ancestry. On the one hand, there could be this sort of confirmation that your lineage is appropriately "pure." I think a lot of Europeans may regard the American interest in ancestry as being a little too close to the Nazi obsession with racial purity. And, sure, there are some deranged Americans who do approach it this manner. But I think that the average American is far more likely to be merely curious about their ancestry. Stories about coming to America, and specific waves of immigration and movement in American history, are fairly common themes. And while it is certainly not totally universal, it is more common to have some curiosity about it.
I think that an American who gives in to this compelling urge to look for their "roots" is more likely to reflect on their ancestors' journey to this country, think about it in relation to today's newcomers, and feel a little compassion. This person is probably less likely to be a nativist. Sure, they might be a "only if they come here legally" type person, but they are probably less likely to be opposed to immigration outright, and probably less likely to think that we should start kicking out some people who have been living here for a long time.
And, god damn it, it may be corny but there are some things that are in fact pretty okay about the United States and one of them is that anyone at all--every person of any background--has somewhere in this fucking country where they can have a community. If they don't have one yet, it just means they haven't found it or don't know where to look. Virtually every single population of any kind anywhere on the globe has some representation here, somewhere. And within one generation their kids basically sound like the average American. Maybe with a couple minor accent shifts but, bam, there you go, there's more Americans.
One of the most endearing things about coming back home to the US, after you've been out of the country for a while, is hearing familiar accents that you only hear in this country. It's probably a common experience for visitors to be herded through customs while being half-shouted at by some person in a uniform whose English is hard for even other native English speakers to understand. I'm sure that for you it is terrible, but for me it feels like I'm back home.
The ever changing cultural milieu that results from the constant churn, the endlessly iterative regression to the mean. I don't know if any other country in the world is like this quite to the same degree. There is a distinct charm to this place that I think can be appreciated in spite of the embarrassing mess that constitutes our despicable ruling class, our failure as a nation to stand up for what is right rather than what is profitable or convenient, and our history of wiping our ass with other nations when it's politically expeditious or as a favor to someone with enough money.
To be honest, this heavy shit is beyond my capacity for thinking about right this moment. With respect to immigration, I say: If you're willing to share in some kind of intoxicant with me you can be an American. It doesn't necessarily have to be a chemical intoxicant. If you can take a joke, you can be an American. I think those are the only two requirements there needs to be to be able to come to this country. Be able to take a joke, and be able to share either a drink, a smoke, or even just the appreciation of something really nice, like a symphony or movie. I mean we do have the ability to pick and choose so we should keep out the assholes, if we're going to keep out anyone.

I went to the fridge and I remembered that I had granny smith apples and tangerines in there. Other stuff that I used to eat as a kid. We also have a 12 oz bottle of chocolate milk. If I really wanted to get nostalgic I'd drink that and make myself a peanut butter sandwich on sliced wheat bread. The chocolate milk is for a recipe my wife is making which, I don't even know what the fuck it is, some dessert thing I guess. She'll do those kinds of recipes where one of the ingredients is a can of cream of chicken soup. I don't like to use shortcuts, I'm one of those snooty people who think they have a developed palate. Anyway, I can just imagine explaining in the morning: "Honey, I was just feeling real nostalgic and I was going to run around the corner to get you another one in the morning." Nah, I won't drink it, but it's the sort of thing I would do if I didn't have more self-control.

want to hear a fun story about an edible i took? It literally gave me a superpower. so imma send the story but it's gonna be long lol lol. so i was a very novice user when this happened but my cousin got this 300 mg rice crispy edible and we split it in thirds, a piece for my cousin A, me, and my other cousin, T. so roughly we had about 100 mg each, and we do this at the movie theater right before going in to the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie. about half way through the movie, it hits me, and it hits me *weird* you know? like i'd been high before, id even taken this same edible before with my cousin where we just split it in half and i was fine so i thought i could handle it. but something about the strain, or something must have been a little off. T, my other cousin, who had partaken with us, fell asleep /hard/ half way through the movie, and that movie is full of screaming pirates. i think it was hitting us all at the same time idk how A was doing i just noticed that around the midpoint of the movie, i was losing my grounds with reality a bit (there was a reason for this and i will explain) and the movie started not making sense. like i dont expect pirates to be coherent at all but i started thinking things in the movie weren't actually happening in the movie and that i was making it up i think it's needless to say i was high out of my mind, and come time for the end of the movie, i had arrived at the theater in one of my favorite pair of heels and i decided to walk out before everyone else, because i was feeling *strange*, like i was high out of my wits, but not the good kind of high. i was stumbling and twisting my ankle repeatedly after standing and then i get about halfway through that hallway to the doors, and i feel my blood pressure plummet straight to the ground. i have a heart condition similar to POTS but it occurs due to damage of the vagus nerve so extreme emotions can make this happen to me but it rarely ever did, BUT im always able to catch myself before i fall because passing out is a feeling that *comes on* to me and i have an allotted amount of time when i feel that, to sit my ass down. it's a lot better to faint when youre sitting because its less of a fall and the cure for it is essentially to stick my head between my knees as im sitting. usually makes me super weak and i need sugar to get myself going this time i make it out before everyone else and kind of just slump against the wall on the outside because man my chest was doing a funkkkyyy and low blood pressure makes you feel dizzy, bro, my head was doing cartwheels. in fact i distinctly remember this feeling that even though there was a wall behind me, i felt like i was doing backflips.
as my head is doing these backflips, it becomes the only thing i can feel just, perpetually falling backwards. and then I lost consciousness. Now everything that happened *after* i lost consciousness was told to me by my cousins. and during this time of being unconscious i was periodically rousing to awareness before completely passing out again. i then began to seize apparently, and something happened with the seizure where it constricted or did something to my vocal chords and i was apparently *screaming* through the seizure making croaking noises and i terrified my cousins and grandmother, my grandmother was out of the loop and didnt know we'd taken the edibles so to suddenly have this reaction she thought i was *dying*
and at one point (i think after the seizure) i felt this OVERWHELMING sense of sadness, so apparently when i would rouse i would start making more croaking noises while sobbing and then i would pass out again, i feel SO BAD for the movie theater workers at the hospital the doctor basically explained it to me as a sort of "brain cramp" it was overloaded with my medications and the sudden dose of THC threw off every chemical in my brain zone. they call it poly-pharmacy or something where too many drug interactions can cause issues. however after this WHOLE event. i tried to take an edible one day at a lower dose, and it didnt hit me at all. i then tried 100 mg, still, don't feel anything, i had tried the 100mg several times before going up to 200 mg and i still felt nothing. so i did a test one day, admittedly could have been stupid but i took 600 mg and only when i got up to 650mg-- well past the point of making someone uncomfortably high, i started to feel it a little-- but as i dosed up to 700-800mg, it didnt effect me much more than, say i took a long hit off a dab pen LOL wore off pretty fast too. this incident made me immune to edibles, an honest tragedy
WOW that’s terrible OMG. But yeah thc is whack if you’re not experienced with it + esp if you have pre existing medical conditions. They don’t call it a pseudo psychedelic for nothing! For me at its worst it can give me like extreme dissociation + psychosis but even when that happens to me now it’s much more tolerable…. I wonder why edibles don’t work for you anymore tho I’m thinking your tolerance just went up like crazy. But definitely try lower doses LOL

Sake and Snow (pt. 1) || Katsuki Bakugou x f!reader || NSFW
(series prequel to Sleepy Sex)
Pt. 1 || Pt. 2 || Pt. 3 || Pt. 4
You've been dating Katsuki Bakugou for a few weeks. You've known each other since high school, but you were too shy to ever flirt with him. It's just as well, you'd figured, since he probably would've just yelled at you and rejected you in the worst possible way. After graduating, you went to work at an agency several hundreds of miles away while he stayed in the same town. Work kept you incredibly busy and your family lived in a different city, so you never made it back to visit.
A couple of years later, however, your career path brought you back to the city you'd graduated in, and a couple of months later you ran into Katsuki and my my, how he had grown. You got back in touch with your mutual friends from high school and within a few months, you and Katsuki started dating. A few weeks into it he invited you to his place for dinner one evening, to which you happily obliged.
Word Count: 1.2k
When Katsuki's doorbell rang at 7:25, his heart jumped into his throat. Pull yourself together, Bakugou. Don’t let her get to you, he thought.
He opened the door to see you smiling up at him and all his self-pep talk was forgotten. Why did you get to him so much? You looked incredible and he couldn’t remember the last time anyone else was this happy to see him. “It’s freezing out there, come inside”, he ordered.
The aroma coming from his kitchen hit your nose like a wall and caused your mouth to start watering almost as much as the sight of the chef himself. He wore a well-fitting black dress shirt with the first couple of buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up to just below his elbows, showcasing his muscular forearms. Over that, he wore a black apron tied in the back and you noticed how slim his waist is in comparison to the rest of his torso. I bet I could wash my clothes on his abs, you thought before willing the visual distraction out of your mind.
You walked inside, already familiar with the clean lines and minimalist décor of his apartment’s open floor plan, surprisingly tidy for a bachelor’s place. “Damn, it feels really good in here. So warm!”, you said, rubbing your cold hands together.
Bakugou helped you out of your coat and nearly choked on his own spit when he saw what was beneath. The little black dress that you wore hugged your perfect hips and ended in a pencil line about halfway down your thighs. With your back facing him he licked his lips hungrily and thought, I can’t take this shit anymore. Her ass is mine tonight. When you bent over to take off your shoes he couldn’t help but imagine pushing the hem of your dress up around your waist before burying his cock deep inside that tight-
“Wow, Katsuki!” You didn’t notice him startle. “It smells so good in here! What are you making?”, you asked, following him into the kitchen.
He flipped the contents of the skillet, causing any moisture to hiss against the hot oil. “Stir-fried vegetables with garlic fried rice, konbu dashi-based miso soup, and tempura – shrimp and veggies, and a chilled bottle of Junmai Daiginjo to drink. Or...whatever”, he grumbled.
He almost jumped when you put a delicate hand on his back, such was the heightened state of his nerves. “This all looks so amazing, Katsuki”.
The male looked over his shoulder at you and that beautiful smile on your face. That smile slayed him. He turned and ran his thumb across your cheek as he lowered his mouth to yours. You closed your eyes as his lips brushed yours before placing a soft, chaste kiss on your lips.
“Not as amazing as you do”, he whispered before dipping his gaze down to take in the sight of you from head to toe before turning his attention back to his cooking. You felt like your knees would buckle, but you nonchalantly steadied yourself by leaning against the countertop. How in the world was this the same guy who yelled most of the time and threatened to kick people’s asses a few years ago? You chuckled slightly at the contrast of his current demeanor.
“What?”, he asked while looking at you from the side.
“I don’t know, you’re just…you’re so different than the guy I remember from high school”.
“You want me to start yelling at you, would that make you feel more comfortable?”
Propping your cheek on your palm you looked into his vermillion eyes and replied thoughtfully, “No, this is perfect”.
“Tch-” He smirked at you and turned back to his task hoping it would prevent you from seeing the blush that spread across his cheeks.
🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶❄🍶
“Oh my fucking god, Katsuki, your tempura is delicious! (Type) is my favorite and you freaking nailed it! So light and crispy!”, you praised before moaning and taking another bite.
If that makes you moan, just wait until I get you in my bed. His dick twitched in his pants, threatening to get hard if he kept thinking like that.
After you finished eating, Bakugou offered you a cup of hot matcha.
“Yes, that would be great. I love matcha”.
“You’ve been saying that about a lot of things tonight. Is there anything you don’t love?”
“Hmm…headaches, too much work, not enough down time, toxic bullshit…there are plenty of things I don’t love. I guess I just prefer to focus on the things I do love”. After a beat, you asked him, “What about you? I hear a lot about what you hate. Is there anything you don’t hate?”
“Yeah, but if I tell you I’d have to kill you”.
“With kindness, right?”, you said playfully.
He rolled his eyes, trying and failing to stifle a smile. “You”.
“Me what?”
“I don’t hate you, genius. And if you tell anyone, I’ll have to kill them too”.
The two of you talked for a while longer before you saw the time on your phone when it lit up with a text notification from Momo. You knew your best friend better than to open it and read it knowing Katsuki was watching you. She’d probably sent a gif of someone doing the tongue-between-the-fingers thing with a How’s it going 😉? text. You clicked your cheek against your teeth, “Looks like I need to get going, it’s getting pretty late”.
Katsuki felt a twinge of disappointment as he got up from the table with you. He helped you into your coat and opened the door while you dug in your purse for your keys. “Umm, (y/n)? Have you looked outside?”, silently thanking whatever gods were smiling down and bestowing upon him this sacred gift.
“Hm? No, why?”
“’Cause there’s at least a couple of inches of snow on the ground”.
"The forecast only called for a light dusting", you said peeking around him. “Oh no".
“You feel safe driving in that?”, Katsuki asked, a hint of preemptive disapproval in his tone.
“No way”. You looked up at that handsome face, cursing whatever gods were testing your resolve to keep your hands to yourself tonight, and said, “What about you? Can you drive me home?”
“I mean, I could, but I’ve got an even better solution”. You raised an eyebrow at him. “You stay here tonight and neither one of us has to get out in that shit”.

*slides in* can i have some fluff about tsuzuru and reader meeting the entire minagis _(:3」∠) (p/s love you emily~ hope you have a nice day)
My face when I read this request? I am FLOORED Miru. Big brain time. Love you too 💕
Thanks to @androidjasmine here is a photo of the young ones and their names to keep you all on your toes! It’s all fun and games until you remember everyone is called almost the same. Enjoy! 💕
Meeting at the Minagi's (TsuzuruxReader)
Kaoru stopped in his tracks and squinted his eyes, holding onto the heavy basket full of clothes. “Are you two really going to stay there until they come?”
“Of course we are!”
“We are!”
None of his two youngest brothers even bothered to turn around, eyes fixed on the door’s entrance, hands on their hips.
The seventh Minagi adjusted his glasses from inside the living room at the responses. He then licked his finger to pass another page of his book. “Don’t waste your time Kaoru-niisan. I’ve already tried to talk to them. It’s a lost cause.”
“Hey, I heard that!” this time Takeru’s head moved slightly, though his body and eyes remained facing the door. “And we are not a lost cause! We will make sure this Y/N person is good or bad before they set a foot inside!”
“Inside!” the youngest Minagi happily yelped.
Kaoru rolled his eyes, leaving the basket on the floor of the living room. As long as they were occupied for now it was fine, he imagined. He had been all over the place since he came back from school so any peace he could get was appreciated. “Can you fold these Tooru? I need to check on the vegetables cooking for dinner. Don’t want to ruin them.”
“What are we having?”
“Stir-fried crispy noodles.” Kaoru looked at the clock. “Some side dishes too If I manage.”
The young boy left the book on the side and stretched. “Sounds good. Want to help me Mitsuru? I know you can fold socks now.”
The soft boy who had until then been engrossed watching tv turned around quickly. “Yeah! Can I show them to Tsuzu-nii when he comes? He doesn’t know I learned yet!”
“Sure. You better fold them the best you can then, okay?”
“Okay!”
Kaoru smiled at the exchange. He was about to head back to the kitchen when the front door opened. “Ah, those must be-”
“Get away from Tsuzu-nii!”
There was a sound of something heavy falling and hitting the ground.
“Ow! Takeru what the-That hurt!”
“Tsu-nii comes home!”
Laughing, Yuzuru ran past the first twin and jumped on top of the second one -still untouched- who took him in his arms.
“You don’t have to follow everything Takeru does Yuzuru.”
“Come on now, I already told you before they are not coming for another two hours!” Kaoru walked in and bent over to help them stand. “Sorry Suberu. They have been all over the place about Tsuzuru’s and Y/N-san’s visit.”
“I can see that… why though? You didn’t act like this with Meguru-nissan.” he caressed his pained back. Takeru huffed, crossing his arms and turning his back on them.
“Meguru-nii stinks! He hasn’t come back to visit ever since he got married!”
Noboru chuckled, leaving Yuzuru once again down. “I see some pieces coming together.”
“Me too. Anyway, you two can stay here but only as long as there’s no more headbutting. You hear me Takeru? You promised you would behave today.” after he received a pouty nod from him, Kaoru decided to leave it be and turned his attention to the middle schoolers. “Welcome back you two. How was school? Think you two can help me prep the table and take away the toys?”
“Are mom and dad not home yet?”
“They both texted they might be a bit late, hopefully still on time.” The oldest finally managed to enter the kitchen, lowering the heat of the big pan. He should start prepping the rice and the noodles.
“Then we’ll shower and come back down.”
“Hey Mitsuru, are you and Tooru folding socks?”
“Yeah! I’m going to show them to Tsu-nii!”
“Tsuzuru’s partner uh.” Suberu muttered as both climbed the stairs. “I'm kinda excited too, not going to lie- who knew this day would actually come.”
Noboru laughed softly, following his twin inside their shared bedroom. “I know. Whoever was able to crack the head of that brother of ours, as much as I love him, deserves a raise.” .
.
.
A sneeze came out of you stronger than you had anticipated, making you stop in the middle of the road.
“You okay there? Here.” Tsuzuru looked inside his pocket, pulling out a small box of tissues and handing it to you.
“Ah- Thanks.” You cleaned your nose while looking at him ask for two train tickets on the station. He then gave you one and kept one for himself.
“It’s weird for you to sneeze, do you think you are getting sick? It’s gotten pretty chilly at night lately.”
“I’m good. You on the other hand are the one who looks constipated.”
“Ah…” He sighed, shaking his head. “Well, you can say that again, sorry. I don’t know why I’m so nervous.”
You nudged him on the way to the platform. “You worry too much. It’s just your parents and brothers right? Anytime you mention them it even makes me jealous of how much you all care for each other.”
“They are great. For the most part at least. It’s just… I guess I’m like this because I’ve never brought home someone. So, yeah. Don’t pay much attention to it.”
And while he tried to shrug it off, you couldn’t help but feel a little happy. You both had been dancing around the idea for a while, and after arranging times, although the two oldest Minagi brothers had had some difficulties to come at the last moment, you both decided to keep the day and meet the rest of the family.
“You know, I would lie If I said I’m not nervous, but I also can’t say I’m not excited. Hey,” tapping Tsuzuru’s knee he spun to face you. “We got this. Mankai was already covered right? I doubt I’ll have a bigger interview than that one.”
The sound of the train made its way into the station at the same time Tsuzuru groaned.
“Please don’t bring that up. I’m still trying to forget it.”
You laughed at the face he started to make. “See? This will be a walk around the park. Plus I believe bought sweets for everyone,” you lifted the token bags you had been carrying since you two had met and nodded proudly. “I count on convincing at least four to my side.”
Your joke finally made him grow a tiny smile. As the train stopped in front of you two he reached out to take your hand into his, your touch seeming to calm him down. You gave his hand a light squeeze.
.
Later on
“Okay, here we are.”
You rolled your eyes at your boyfriend’s dramatic remark when he stopped at the sight of -what you guessed was- his household roof.
“Tsuzuru.” cupping his face you pulled him close, his nose against yours. “I love you and I’m going to love your family too.”
His cheeks grew warm at your loud statement. “Just… if my little brothers are too much, let me know. Everyone kind of… tends to get overexcited.” he confessed. You both walked up to the front door, Tsuzuru knocking a few times before he stepped back to stand next to you.
Immediately a few voices came from inside the house, followed by the sound of closing steps. A woman opened the door, beaming at the sight of you two. “There you are, welcome!”
“Hi mom.”
“Hello dear.” she hugged him tightly as you followed them inside, setting down the bags and enjoying the scene. She gave off the same natural warmth and comfort Tsuzuru gave off, along with the distinctive turquoise vibrant eyes both wore. "I'm glad to see you are doing good," she then turned to you with a gentle smile. “And you must be Y/N, it’s so nice to formally meet you in person.”
You smiled back as you bowed. “I feel the same. You have a very lovely home by the way,” Tsuzuru and you started to step out of your shoes, tucking them up against where the others lay when the voices you had heard with the door closed -and a good sound of running steps- became louder and louder.
“Oh, I guess the twins weren’t able to stop them.”
“Tsuzuru-nii!!”
Tsuzuru's mother moved you both discreetly to the side as three balls of energy of different heights passed in front of you and tackled your boyfriend, making him almost fell to the ground. "H-hey, careful!" All of them wore brown hair and turquoise eyes just like in all the photos you had seen of them, and talked at such speed it was difficult for you to understand what one said over the others.
"We missed you!"
"Missed you lots!"
“Yeah it’s been ages, what took you so long?!”
Your heart grew warm when you noticed Tsuzuru’s eyes softening, even though he was slightly scolding them at the same time -trying to calm them down. You turned to her mother, who was watching the scene with the exact same expression. “Is there anything I can help you with meanwhile? I guess preparing food for this many people is no small feat.”
“Oh don’t worry Y/N, you are our guest today. I imagine you are tired too.”
“Tsuzu-nii you have to see my socks, look!"
"Leave the socks alone, come upstairs to see what game mom bought us last week!"
“Well aren’t you mister popular around here.”
His mother chuckled, embracing herself. “They get really attached to him whenever he comes back.”
“I imagine.”
"Are you Y/N?" one of them glanced your way, hiding behind Tsuzuru but without fully letting him go.
"I am. It's nice to finally see you all instead of just your pictures."
“Woah! Are these presents?”
“Yuzuru?” his mother called out “What did we talk about looking inside other people's bags?”
“Oi, Yuzuru!” Turning away from praising Mitzuru’s folded socks and Takeru’s hold, Tsuzuru tried to take him away from your bags too. You smiled, waving silently as to tell them it was okay. You crouched down to his height.
“Yup! Some sweets I brought for everyone later. I hope you like mochi.”
“I do! Take-nii too!”
“Is that so?” You turned to said boy, making him flinch and blush, still trying to hide between Tsuzuru’s legs. He glanced your way frowning shyly.
“I only like it with cream...”
“I-I like it with chocolate and strawberries!” Mitzuru called getting close to you now, socks now long forgotten. You smiled, mentally thanking asking Tsuzuru for advice.
“Good thing we have both and some more then.”
As if that changed everything, the three youngest Minagis started jumping and celebrating enthusiastically around you. Tsuzuru’s mother smiled while Tsuzuru himself tried to calm them down again.
“Thank you Y/N. I will take them to the fridge. For now let’s try to enter the living room and get you two seated. Kaoru has been all afternoon in the kitchen and your father and I are trying to help him finish making dinner, I’ll go get them.” .
.
.
With the youngest right on his toes, Tsuzuru guided you to the living room, finding the twins and the one you guessed was Tooru -mainly because of the glasses- waiting patiently for their turn.
“Hey guys. Y/N, these are Noboru and Suberu, the twins and Tooru.”
“Hi there!” you waved brightly, receiving a few quiet smiles. They seemed warier to approach you than the young ones, so you had waited for Tsuzuru to present you. "Oh. Tsuzuru was right, I can differentiate you better than I expected."
"Ah- yeah, when we were younger we used to look a lot more similar."
"I see... Are you two really middle schoolers? I'm really jealous of this house's general height."
The spring member laughed while turning to the one who had been quieter, kneeling next to him. “Hey buddy."
"...Hi"
"I see you are already on the second volume of that series, uh” Tsuzuru placed a hand on top of his head patting it. “I loved when I was younger a lot too.”
Tooru looked up at him surprised. When he noticed his behaviour he blushed, adjusting his glasses and quickly lowering his head smiling. He hugged the book against his chest tighter and nodded. "I missed you around, Tsuzuru-nissan."
"Me too." Tsuzuru patted his head once more as he stood up. "Y/N's right, I can’t believe you two are this tall already.”
“Well- It’d be nice to beat you nissan.”
At that moment another figure entered the living room, older than all the others you had seen so far. “I hope we don’t scare Y/N with all this chaos guys, we can hear you from all over the kitchen.”
You walked up to him and bowed with a smile. “Everyone has been great so far. It’s nice to finally meet you, Minagi-san.”
He nodded with a friendly smile, the wrinkles around his eyes making his face calming and comforting to look at. “The sentiment is mutual. You know, Tsuzuru's never brought anyone home before. He must be serious about you.”
You grinned, noticing the spring member's face gain color. “I’ve been somewhat informed.”
“Yeah! How did you convince him to go out with you?”
“I know! Is it because he tells amazing stories?”
"He also plays football super good."
"But not as good Meguru-nissan!"
"But still-!"
“Guys I appreciate the effort but can you not.”
The man gave a relaxed chuckle, ruffling his playwright son’s hair affectionately. “We are just glad to see you are doing good Tsuzuru, we’ve missed you.”
“You all have a weird way to show it.” Tsuzuru sighed embarrassed.
“Mhm? We haven’t taken out the albums yet.”
“And it will stay like that over the whole dinner.”
“Coming through!”
Making way for them, Tsuzuru’s mother and Kaoru arrived with a few more plates to share with everyone in the middle of the table. After they were placed, the high schooler turned to you. He gave away a similar vibe as the spring member, looking a bit all over the place, although that could also have been because of all the cooking and prepping you imagined it took. “Nice to meet you. Kaoru, right?”
“Yeah,” he smiled back. “Nice to meet you too, Y/N-san. The house is a bit of a mess but I hope you enjoy dinner at least.”
Oh, he definitely is a clone of Tsuzuru. “Are you kidding?” you shook your head at the number of plates with the biggest smile. “It smelled amazing even from the entrance! I can’t believe you cooked all this.”
The boy flushed at the sudden compliments. His parents shared a smile behind you as they made everyone get to their seats. “Ah- well, kinda. We use to have food prepared each day so it wasn’t that difficult.”
“Styr-fry crispy noodles, uh?” Tsuzuru looked around as you all placed your hands together and gave your thanks. “Mhm, this is good.” He nodded contentedly. “I can't believe how much I missed this flavor. Thanks Kaoru.”
Kaoru instantly lighted up at the statement, making you understand just how much Tsuzuru’s opinion and figure were valued around. All the young ones had fought in order to sit next to him, so you decided to give away your seat and instead eat next to one of the twins and his mother.
“So Y/N, are you studying too?”
“Yeah.” You explained your major and engaged in conversation with Kaoru and the twins, talking about selecting careers and future schools.
“How’s Tadoru-nissan? I’ve talked to Meguru-nissan lately but he’s unavailable whenever I call.”
At Tsuzuru’s questions, his mother placed a hand on her cheek pensively. "I wonder too. The last thing I know was him staying in an old village, where was it...?" her husband shook his head when she glanced at him. "But well- you know how he is. One day on one place yet tomorrow he could be perfectly knocking on this door."
"I hate how right you are..."
“Hey, Y/N! What do you think of his stories?” Takeru looked at you, eyes bright with expectantly. "Aren't they just so awesome?"
Having your mouth full too, you could only give him a thumbs up while nodding. You swallowed and chuckled. "They are. Your brother is pretty awesome in general."
You noticed Tsuzuru rolling his eyes, hiding his probably flushed face by drinking water.
“Right? He works so hard too!”
“Maybe too hard though.”
“I agree.”
“We used to do plays written by him when everyone was younger.”
His father leaned on the table entertained. "Right. You all loved to be selected for different roles."
“Oh, I didn’t know that! I’d love to see a full Minagi play at some point.”
Tsuzuru's eyes opened in shock. You could perfectly read the word traitor coming from his lips before gasps and general chaos erupted.
"We could?! I want to!!"
“Man they were a mess but it was fun. Tooru always wanted to be the hero, remember?”
"Me? No way!"
“Play, play!”
“I-I too wanna do a play written by Tsuzu-nii!”
His mother cleaned the corner of her third-youngest and smiled. “Maybe Tsuzuru could write something the next time he comes. Now it’s dinner time okay?”
Takeru gasped with excitement and stood up, looking at the playwright. “That would be so cool! You have to promise you will make one for us!”
“Promise!”
Tsuzuru scratched the back of his head. He looked in your direction but you shrugged, enjoying the situation too much to intervene. In the end he sighed and smiled defeated. He could never win against such excited faces. “Sure, I’ll try to come up with something next time.”
"Yay!!" .
.
.
“Are you sure you two don’t want to sleep here tonight? It’s gotten really late.”
“It’s fine mom. We both have University tomorrow so we should try to head back”
After having dinner and enjoying the sweets you had brought, midnight almost reached the Minagi household, so you two decided it was about time to head home. You were now at the entrance, having already said goodbye to the rest of the siblings and now being just both parents and Kaoru left.
“Alright, just be careful okay? And Y/N, come back whenever you want. We loved having you today.” Tsuzuru’s mother gave you a hug while his father smiled agreeing, nodding as he rocked an already sleep Yuzuru in his arms.
“It was a pleasure.”
“I’ll go with them,” Kaoru suddenly decided, stepping in to grab his own shoes. “I want to buy some ice cream from the convenience store anyway.”
And so, you three kept talking until the station came to view. Tsuzuru took a deep breath. It had been quite a while since he had walked around like that, a nostalgic feeling emerging as he remembered old times by looking at the streets. Time really flies.
“You didn’t have to walk us back, it’s late.”
“I know. Still wanted to.” his younger brother shrugged and placed his hands inside his pockets. The evening air was fresh. “I like them.”
“Uh?”
“Y/N-san, I mean.” looking behind Tsuzuru, he saw you humming while waiting for the train tickets back to Veludo to come out from the machine. “They must be special if you’re willing to bring them home to meet us.”
Tsuzuru copied him, watching your back and your little dance in the distance. He unconsciously felt the corners of his mouth rising up. “…Yeah. They are.” It was embarrassing to say it out loud in the silence of the night, but it was true.
“Meguru-nissan and Tadoru-nissan told me they would both try to come for dad’s birthday. You should bring them too.”
Tsuzuru snorted. His older brothers were on a whole new level. He ruffled Kaoru’s head. “Thanks. For everything.”
“You know you don’t have to thank us."
“Still-"
“Done!” You waved the tickets as you made your way back to the two brothers. “We are all set to go.” Kaoru nodded in understanding.
“Then I’ll go too. It was nice getting to know you, Y/N-san. We leave our big brother in your care. He’s a worrywart… so please don’t be afraid of taking his coffee and make him take a break.”
“Oh, that’s some hard quest right there.”
“I’m still here, you two are aware of this right?”
You both laughed at the spring member. “I will do my best to take care of your big brother, I promise." you turned to him.
Kaoru's eyes softened at your response. "Thanks." .
. .
“I think they liked you.” The playwright suddenly commented once inside the train, some time after you parted from Kaoru. You yawned and looked up smiling. “I got that feeling too, although I didn’t wanna jinx it. Were you expecting something different?”
He shrugged. “Not really. Just glad it ended well.” Tsuzuru took your hand, caressing it with his thumb.
“I liked them too, you nailed every single one of them.” You yawned again. “I’m also deadly tired though.”
“Welcome to my life.”
You giggled, allowing your head to rest on his shoulder. You could feel how happy and fortunate he had felt tonight, being able to enjoy some quality family time even though he used to complain here and there. Soon enough your breathing fell into a steady rhythm at the soothing sound of the rails. Along with the empty wagon, you closed your eyes enjoying Tsuzuru’s warmth.
It had been a nice day.

Camboy!Oikawa Tooru x Fem!Reader

Read it on AO3 here
Finding an apartment for college was one of the hardest things you’d ever done. Searching endlessly through ads, you ciphered through countless creeps and dingy houses that were not up to code. Up until the second to last week of summer break, you had no where to stay, but a friend of yours from high school said that he knew a guy looking for a roommate within your price range.
Thanking him a million times, you met up with Tooru Oikawa the next day at a coffee shop and got acquainted. You found him charming, and something clicked between you two immediately, a spark if you would.
Two days after you met him, you were moving in. And very quickly after that you met his best friend; the three musketeers were together at last. Hajime, Tooru and yourself were always together and you all got along extremely well.
You were a middle ground between the two, somewhere between the lines of rude and flirtatious, but it made for some fun nights out. Hajime and yourself are even better friends than Tooru and you, but both of you agree that it’s because of the mutual “hatred”. He became your best friend in a matter of weeks, and people often assumed you were a couple. Every time, it was quickly denied as either of you stated that you would rather shoot yourselves than hook up with one another.
Fast forward almost a year later, and the three of you are sitting on the couch, watching some shit alien documentary Oikawa put on in the background.
“Do you think we should buy a bigger TV, Y/N-chan?” Tooru asks you while shoveling some noodles in his mouth.
“Dude, it’s fine. I mean if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it? Plus, I don’t have the kinda cash for that at the moment.” You stand up, stretching slightly while reaching out to Iwaizumi, seeing as his bowl is empty. “Unless you wanna pitch in?” Laughing softly, he places the bowl in your hand and shakes his head.
“No chance in hell I’m helping you losers buy a bigger television for your apartment.”
“Well that was uncalled for…” Oikawa quietly mumbles. “But! I think I’m just gonna buy a new one. You don’t have to worry about the money or anything. Think of it as our one year anniversary gift!” He wiggles his eyebrows and bumps his elbow into Iwa’s side as you roll your eyes and walk to the kitchen. You’re just glad that you make it to the sink before he can see the bright red on your face.
You weren’t sure when this started, but whenever Tooru teased you, a rush of blood would flow through your system. You’ve known each other for years at this point, and nothing like this has ever happened. You’ve noticed that he’s been building more muscle, almost like he’s glowing. You’re unsure, but not upset.
“How the fuck can you afford that? You’re at practice all the time, and you don’t have a job.” You turn around after washing the dishes, leaning into the counter as you speak.
The two men quickly share a glance before Oikawa speaks. “I have my ways.” The flirtatious tone in his voice lures you in, wanting for the subject to change, and you give in to the pretty boy's ways.
“Whatever Flattykawa.” He sticks out his lip and pouts as you insult him. “I’m gonna turn in for the night, I have an eight thirty lecture and I still have to meet with a TA beforehand.” A yawn escapes your mouth as Hajime stands up from the couch, making his way to you and wrapping his rather large arms around your frame. The man has always been a walking space heater, and you place your arms around him. He rubs his hands on your back before saying goodnight and walking back to the couch. Tooru is still pouting, head turned to look out of the window as he sees his best friend hug his crush. The slight twinge of jealousy lasts for a brief moment, going away as he whispers a brief goodnight to you as well.
~
A week or so has passed since that night, and things are still the same between yourself and Oikawa. He did end up buying a new t.v., and you got the “old” one for your room. Not only that, but he’s been receiving packages all the time. Almost everyday he gets something shipped to the apartment, and you can’t help but wonder where the fuck all of this money is coming from.
It’s none of your business Y/N. If Tooru’s rich, then there’s nothing you can say about that. He’s just a little luckier than you are, with money, talent and looks he’s practically got no issues… Your thoughts run on and on as you sit at the bar, distracted from the homework on your laptop screen. It’s roughly seven or eight at night on a Monday night, meaning Oikawa’s home since it’s his day off. He doesn’t like being bugged when doing work of any kind, and tends to stay in his room until he’s finished doing whatever it is he’s doing. It was an agreement you both made when you first moved in to learn each other's boundaries and respect privacy at all times.
Your phone dinged on the other side of the counter, and you quickly picked it up to look at the notification. At the same time, Tooru walks through his bedroom door and into the kitchen. His unruly hair was even more disheveled than usual, and his shirt was nowhere to be seen. It’s a rather common occurrence for him to be shirtless, but it’s been happening more and more. Unaware of your gaze, he continued looking for a snack like nothing mattered. You glanced at him quite a few times, admiring the light viel of sweat covering his chest and the soft breaths as he took a few deep inhales.
Not taking any chances of being caught, you went back to checking your phone and saw a text from the group chat you had with a couple of gal pals. They were asking about going to brunch tomorrow and you quickly responded that you were down to clown before placing the phone back on the counter.
“What’s up Tooru?” Your eyes settled back on his frame as he turned to you, a smile grazing his lips. He liked it when you called him by his first name. Not that he’d tell you, but he thought it was cute that you only called him that when you two were alone.
“Nothing much Y/N. Looking for something sweet to eat…”
“Hmm, if I recall you’re the one who ate the last of the rice krispy treats.” You cocked your eyebrow, smirking at his over exaggerated reaction.
“And?” He placed his hand over his heart, “Just because I ate one of your rice krispies treats, and it happened to be the last one doesn’t mean I don’t deserve something sweet.”
“Riiiight, so by one do you mean five? Because I did take the trash out of your room the other day, and there just so happened to be some more wrappers in your bin.”
“Y/N. I would never, and when I say this, I mean never eat all of your snacks. I can’t believe you would accuse me of such a thing.” Oikawa sassed you back, feigning innocence.
“Mhm.” You hopped out of your seat and walked to your room.
“Where are you going?” He calls out, a little dumbfounded that you up and left.
“Hold your panties dude, I’ll be back.” He crosses his arms and leans into the counter as he waits for a few seconds. He can hear your footsteps coming back to the kitchen only a minute or so later, and suddenly a chocolate bar comes flying at him. It hits him square in the chest, but he catches it as it falls.
His lips stretch out into a genuine smile, looking between you and the chocolate. “I love you Y/N,” Tooru says in a sing-song voice, but rips open the wrapper as he speaks. Once again, his words cause a sudden blush to cover your face and you practically run over to your laptop to use it as cover.
“Whatever Tooru.” He chuckles while getting something to drink, and you see that the group chat has popped off during your short encounter. Decisions had been made in a small amount of time, but now you have plans tomorrow.
“What’s got you so happy?” He says, mouth full.
“Oh, just going out with some friends tomorrow. Haven’t seen them in a while so it’ll be fun.” You don’t bother looking up as you type.
“So I won’t be getting a breakfast special?”
“Are you saying you like burnt toast and crispy eggs?” A soft laugh fills the space when Tooru throws the wrapper in the trash. He pads over to the living area and plops down onto the couch.
“Vegging out for the rest of the night?” You call from the kitchen, still engrossed in the group chat.
“I think so. I’m all caught up with everything and a new episode of that alien series came out yesterday.” A hum in affirmation leaves your lips before sitting down next to him.
The rest of the night is quiet as Tooru watches his show and you text your girlfriends, both of you content with being next to one another in comfortable silence.
~
“So Y/N”, one of the girls smacks her lips once she places her champagne glass on the table, “You and Oikawa together yet?”
A blush erupts over your skin, and wanting to hide you start to shield your face into your shoulder. “No,” you mumble while the girls laugh at your reaction. They’re some of the only people, mind Hajime, that know about your crush. It hasn’t been that long since you’ve developed these feelings, but it’s starting to have an affect on your dynamic with him.
“Well,” another one of your friends starts, “I think you should hop on it girl. He’s fine as fuck, and I can’t help but imagine what he can do with that body-”
“Alright!” Your best friend breaks up the conversation, seeing you get more uncomfortable by the moment. “We don’t need to talk about Oikawa’s anything right now, but I am curious about him buying new things for your guys’ apartment all the time.”
“I don’t know guys. I think he’s just rich, or something,” you shovel some of your food into your mouth, speaking in between bites. The girls look around at each other and shrug it off.
“Maybe he’s got a side business.”
“Or he’s a sugar baby!” They all laugh, minus you who takes the idea seriously.
Maybe he has a sugar mommy or daddy… I mean, he’s got the looks and personality… You pick at the food on your plate as they continue their conversation.
“I would kill to be a sugar baby,” one of them whined, “Then I could sit around and do whatever I wanted.”
“You mean you could sit around and watch porn,” your best friend interjects. Silence fills the space before another round of laughter erupts from the table.
“Okay, but hear me out…” Another girl whispers under the hollers that can be heard across the restaurant. “I started watching this camboy the other week and it’s really hot.”
“Oh, like the guys who jack off on stream?” They sip out of their champagne glasses.
“Yeah, but when you donate money you can request or get things out of it. The guy I’ve been watching has been doing stuff with some vibrators lately, and I can’t get enough.”
“So,” you look up at them all, placing your fork down, “there’s just this whole category of porn where people do what you want.” They all turn and nod, almost eagerly.
“Did you not know about this Y/N?”
“I mean,” you could feel the heat rise on your face again, “I’ve heard of people jacking off on streams, but I didn’t know it was that popular…” Some of them laugh softly at the notion, but others try to explain further.
“You know, you might like it. I can send you the guy's username I’ve been watching. He streams every Monday for sure, and a few other times during the week. I’ll just text you.” She winks and the rest of the morning is just catching up with everyone.
~
Over the course of the past few days, your curiosity grew about cam culture and what it entailed. It’s been over a year since your last relationship and it has taken a toll on your sex drive. You aren’t about one night stands or friends with benefits, so you just stick to watching, listening and reading porn when you need to get off, and as the days went by you needed the release.
Making sure your room was locked, you opened your phone and searched through the texts to find your friends suggestion.
“Gr8King”, you whisper to yourself while typing the name into the search bar. The livestream pops into frame and the man is fully clad in a slutty maid outfit, teasing his own nipples with his fingers while he speaks ever so softly into the mic. His head is above the screen, allowing you to only see his mid and lower body down to his calves. He’s lean and toned, and you can feel your own arousal growing at the sight. The notification tones going off every few seconds, hundreds of people donating and thousands watching as he moves a hand slowly down his torso, grabbing the hem of the skirt.
“Should we move on to something more,” he moves closer to the mic, breathing softly and talking in a deeper tone, “sensual?” The vibrations from his voice cause chills to run down your spine. You run a hand over your clothed sex, dying for friction while clenching your thighs.
The skirt comes off, falling to the ground and it leaves him bare on screen. He wasn’t wearing anything underneath it, and his cock is already getting hard. The tip is red, leaking with precum as he moves his hand up the shaft, rubbing the head with his thumb and smearing the liquid around.
Messages increase from the viewers, begging him to do something more, but he stays in his position. “I can’t do anything until the masters say I can,” he whines. Never in your life did you think that you would have a thing for guys in maid outfits, but what was left of the outfit and him calling the audience “master” fueled your curiosity.
That’s when you realize the small animations on screen. Based on the donations, there’s a vibrator going on and anytime someone donates they can change it, and if they exceed a certain amount they get called “master” for the night. More people donate, rapidly changing the speed and he bucks his hips into his fist, moaning breathlessly. “Not- not so much,” he releases his hand except for the pointer finger, running it with a feathery touch from the head to the base. A larger notification shows on screen, a “master” donating a rather large sum of money. Once again, the chat waits in anticipation to see what he’ll do next.
“Looks like master wants me to fuck my dirty little fleshlight while the vibrator gets turned up all the way.” He turns to find what’s necessary, and you stare at the screen, biting your lip.
Am I really enjoying this that much? Your eyes are glued to the screen, waiting in anticipation for what’s about to happen. He returns to the frame, toys in hand and resumes the broadcast.
“How could I deny my masters when they’ve given me so much? I need to be a good boy for them..” he purrs into the mic, teasing the head of his cock on the entrance of the clear fleshlight. The vibrator goes to max, and he shoves the toy down his length, moaning viciously.
Embarrassment floods your system as you listen to this random person whisper sinful things into your ear as he reaches his peak. It’s definitely foreign to you, but the throbbing between your legs makes you want to watch more.
~
Watching the “Gr8King’s” streams becomes almost routine over the next few weeks. You convince yourself that it’s healthy for you to jack off whenever he streams, but deep down you know it’s just an excuse to stare at some guy guy's body while he talks dirty. In fact, this past week you’ve found yourself wanting to donate for the first time, but you don’t have money to just throw around willy nilly so you just lurk.
The stream boots up, this week being just a normal show where he takes suggestions from any amount. You settle into bed, getting prepared for the night’s activities while listening to the voice call you pet names like “cutie”, “gorgeous” and countless others.
It was a stressful week full of work and school, so you decide to take the time now to really let loose and let him guide you to your climax. He talks about nothing in particular, but does as his audience wants while moaning and playing with himself, leaving you panting on your bed, waiting to release at the same time.
Taking all the time in the world, he edges himself multiple times. You can barely hear his words as you desperately try to keep up, but you can feel the knot grow even further in your lower body. After teasing for almost fifteen minutes, he starts to whimper, begging the audience for relief. The way he speaks into the mic is weirdly familiar, just a few phrases here and there catch you off guard, almost as if you know him. This feeling is quickly washed away from the growing knot in your stomach. The audience give into his pleas immediately and you feel the shock waves of pleasure wrack your body. The high washes over and you pant to regain composure. After lying on the bed for a few seconds, you lazily get up and wash up very quickly before hearing a short growl come from your stomach.
Making something quick, you watch some TikToks on the couch as you eat, too entranced by the memes to see Tooru walk out of his room. Once again, he is shirtless, but he spots you on the couch before entering the kitchen.
He slows his pace to admire your flushed skin and glow as you laugh. His heart beats quickly, and he targets the fridge. You can hear him in the next room over, but you don’t bother to call his name, figuring he would join you shortly.
A few moments later, you hear his bedroom door shut and you’re left alone. “What the fuck?” You check the date on your phone, making sure it’s Monday. He usually watches his alien show with me on Monday’s since we can hang out… With a frown, you turn on the t.v. The newest episode plays out as you mindlessly scroll, wondering what was wrong with him.
Two days later, you finish watching a stream, taking longer than usual to clean up and head back out to the living room, wanting to clean some before Hajime comes over. Much to your surprise, it’s being worked on by Tooru, who’s wearing a muscle tank top and some running shorts. He’s panting quietly as he bends to pick up various pieces of trash, but it leaves you stunned.
When did he get so buff? You peered at his abs and pecs through the large slits on the sides of his shirt, but he turns and catches you staring.
“What’s up, Y/N-chan?” He’s got a sly smirk plastered over his face. Your reaction is involuntary heat takes over your body. Without saying anything, you turn and go back to the safehaven of your room.
Tooru is also stunned over your movements, expecting some kind of sassy retort. Then his phone dings in his pocket. Still freaked out over what happened, he checks his messages and sees you’ve texted the group chat you both have with Iwaizumi.
[I think I’m sick, so you guys have fun tonight <3] His brow furrows; now he’s just confused.
“The fuck did you say to her man?” Hajime shoves a piece of sushi into his mouth, talking between chews. Tooru and himself sat at the counter, talking over some movie that all three of you were supposed to watch.
“I made a joke about her staring at me since I was wearing workout clothes, but I thought she was gonna just punch me or something.” He places the chopsticks down on his plate and tries to think. A light goes off in his head, Hajme can see that, but the look is quickly replaced with one of defeat.
“Imayormaynothavebeenavoidingherforthepastfewdays.” All at once, Oikawa speaks in a rushed and hushed sentence, hoping his best friend caught on.
“Excuse me: what.” There’s no playful tone in the air. Hajime popped that balloon and glares daggers into that thick skull of Oikawa’s.
“I,” he plays with his hands, “may or may not have been avoiding her over the past few days.” The first go around was quieter, but Iwa hears it more clearly, finally understanding what’s going on.
“You’re a fucking moron, you know that right?” Hajime places his utensils down, “I’m not going to get in between whatever’s going on here, but you both need to figure shit out. You can’t just avoid her all of the sudden. Not that she’s said anything to me, but she might be going through something and having one of her best friends just avoiding her out of the blue might not be the best thing for her.” Oikawa’s eyes widen at the words of wisdom. He makes a mental note for later, and the night goes on with the two men watching Godzilla for the 100th time.
~
Monday afternoon rolls around, and Tooru walks through the door of the apartment, finished with his classes. You’re making some tea to get some homework done, and he marches into the kitchen, raiding the pantry and fridge.
“You okay man?” Your brow pops up in concern. He didn’t have practice today, so why was he acting like this?
“Huh?” He turns with some food stuffed in his mouth. After swallowing, he answers, “Yeah, I’m good. Just wanted to talk with some friends on chat tonight so I wanted to eat quickly.” Hesitantly, you nod, returning to your laptop on the counter. What you couldn’t see was how his heart rate picked up after seeing you in the kitchen. He’s been wanting to confront you about his sudden absence in your life, but everytime he sees you he gets extremely nervous and bolts.
Tooru finishes up with whatever, and practically runs to his room, slamming the door. He scolds himself quietly behind the closed door for not saying anything to you.
Rude. You focus on homework for another thirty minutes or so and check the time, knowing that your weekly ritual is gonna be starting in the next fifteen minutes or so. Packing everything up, you move into the bedroom, checking the lock on the door for the thousandth time before settling down.
In minutes, “Gr8King” appears on screen, this time in a sports uniform. He starts out like normal, teasing the audience with his voice, running his hands along his body as countless people donate and chat in real time.
Just as he’s about to take his jersey off, a notification dings somewhere off camera and he tenses. “Excuse me cuties,” in a rush, he moves out of frame, slightly knocking his camera from it’s normal setup.
In the background, you spot a poster on a wall that’s eerily familiar. It’s light blue, with a man jumping high, arms reaching back as he prepares to attack. A net is settled before him as a volleyball is high in the air. There’s words in a foriegn language, except for the large letters at the bottom of the poster: “Argentina”.
This causes you to stop what you’re doing. You’re not entirely sure why, but the poster pokes and prods at the back of your mind. It’s a thorn you didn’t know you had.
Why does this guy have an Argentinian volleyball poster? The live stream continues in the background while your eyes haze over. Why does this bug you so much? It’s not like I know the dude, but he did seem familiar in a sense...
That’s the last piece. Everything falls into place as you hastily slam the laptop close. Your breaths are heavy as you finally understand. He’s not fucking rich, he’s a fucking camboy! Your fingers run themselves through your hair over and over as your brain tries to process what’s happening.
I’ve been watching Tooru fuck himself for weeks and had no idea. I was watching the guy I’m crushing over please himself for thousands of people, and he’s just down the hall. What the fuck. You try to stop fidgeting, but your anxiety starts to spike.
“Maybe it’s not him. Maybe this is just a weird fucking coincidence that some streamer has the same schedule as Tooru and the same volleyball poster,” legs pacing around the room, you try to rationalize the situation. Talking out loud helps you realize what’s happening, but you speak quietly to ensure he won’t be able to hear you. Your heart is hammering in its cage, the rapid beating making you dizzy.
Before making any hasty decisions, you walk out into the kitchen and grab a glass of water. “Maybe it’s just a coincidence…” You pull out your phone, turning the sound all the way down and go back to the stream. You don’t actively watch, bouncing your leg as you lean on the counter, and wait for it to end.
You realize it might be a while, and you creep through the hallway, wary of the floorboards that creak and press your face onto his door, listening as closely as possible. Very softly, you can hear moans and grunts, but no actual words. Maybe he’s just working out...
The stream is still playing on your phone, but you return to the kitchen. Not much later, it ends and you wait patiently, timing everything from when it ends. Preemptively, you fill an extra glass with water and set it down. Five minutes pass, and Tooru walks out of his room, sweaty and shirtless. He turns the corner, taking the glass with a small thanks before going to the living room.
The timing makes sense. If he’s the Gr8King than it would make a lot of sense...
[Hajime we need to talk] you type and send before returning to your room, avoiding Tooru. He notices your disappearance and frowns, debating on fetching you. He misses the time you two used to spend together, and he scolds himself further for not bringing it up.
Taking a deep breath, he tells himself to “man up” and sends, [hey, i'm here for you if you need me :)]. He presses his lips into a line before hitting send and placing the phone on the couch next to him.
~
“So what’s up? Not to be rude but you never wanna go to the juice bar…” Hajme laughs lightly, hiding how nervous he is to be meeting up with you.
“I need to ask you something,” you sip the green smoothie, smacking your lips in disgust at the flavor. “And I need you to be honest with me.” Making eye contact, you set the cup down on the table.
“Y/N you’re freaking me out,” he meets your eyes and clenches his jaw.
“Well,” the blush rises in your cheeks, “I always joke about where Oikawa gets his money,” Hajime tightens his grip on his own cup, but remains silent. “I thought it was weird that he got packages all the time when he was either at home or at practice. Then I realized when he was at home, he’d lock himself in his room.” Your face is bright red and you take a deep breath in. “A friend of mine suggested something to me a few weeks back, and when I looked into it I saw something I don’t think I should have.” You look up at the ceiling, avoiding Iwa’s strong gaze. You don’t say anything, trying to think of a way to ask in the least embarrassing way possible.
“What is it Y/N?” He speaks with a small voice.
“Istooruacamboy?” You whisper, still looking up. Hajime’s face also breaks out into a blush, but he chuckles at the events. His chuckles grow into full on laughter as he buckles over and you’re stunned into silence. This continues for a few minutes until he calms himself down, wiping a few tears from his eyes while he looks up to you.
“I can’t believe you found out by watching him.” Some would say it’s impossible, but your face turned two shades darker as you slap him on the chest.
“Fucking asshole! You fucking knew, didn’t you?!” You punch him in the bicep for good measure as you scold him. His laughter is brought back while sipping on the rest of his drink.
“He started after the first semester of school, just trying new things. He told me it was interesting to him, and I said I wanted no part. He hated working at that sports store, you know that, and when he started to get popular there was no going back.” You sit silently, letting him explain. “I hope you don’t think that he’s like, sex crazed or anything… He’s just doing it for the money as far as I know and he likes being able to work from home.” He smiles, acknowledging his friends work but finishes his drink in silence, waiting for a response.
“I don’t think any different of him,” you shake your head and begrudgingly take another sip. “I just- It’s hard for me to take in? I think? Like, I wanna be supportive for him, and I’d like to think that I am but that doesn’t change that I want to be more.” Hajmie nods in affirmation, already knowing that you have feelings for your mutual best friend.
“I'm gonna keep saying it, just tell him. Tooru’s a good guy, and you two deserve each other.” You bite your lip and keep silent. “But first you should tell him that you know about the cam stuff.” Iwa is nonchalant about it all, and grabs your cup, finishing off the drink.
~
You sit on the couch, bouncing your leg but keeping an eye on the package that sits on your lap. It was something for him, but you don’t open it. You just sit there, eye’s on the door, waiting for him to get home from practice.
This is a stupid fucking idea, I should just go back to my room. Your leg bounces faster, and the anxiety bubbles in your stomach. You have no idea what’s gonna happen when he steps through that door, but you were set on telling him tonight.
Just then, the sound of keys entering the lock draws you away from your thoughts, the handle jiggling slightly before it turns and Tooru steps through. He’s dressed in sweats and a tee, hair damp from a shower and a gym bag hanging from his shoulder. He kicks his shoes off and enters the living area, setting the bag down without noticing that you’re watching his every move. Moving into the kitchen, he still doesn’t acknowledge that you’re there as he grabs a glass of water and walks back down the hallway to his room.
“Tooru!” You don’t know what you’re doing, but you need to get this over with. He stops his movements, and pulls an earbud from his left, looking at you with concern.
“Yeah?” He’s unsure what’s causing your outburst, but then he notices the package sitting in your lap, hands softly grasping it to keep its place in your lap. A wave of panic settles down his spine as he slowly spins around and walks to the couch, taking a seat on the other side from you. His eyes are glued to the package, but he notices that it isn’t open.
“I have something I wanted to tell you,” you start softly, placing the cardboard box between you both. He gently sets the glass of water on the glass coffee table and folds his fingers together, settling them on his lap.
“And what’s that?” He’s still shaken, but looks into your eyes.
Your heart starts to pound. What if this is a mistake? He looks like he’s about to throw up. Shaking the doubt from your head, you take a deep breath and hold your gaze. “I know what you do.”
His head cocks to the side, taking in your words. “I’m sorry Y/N, but what does that mean?” He hopes you aren’t alluding to what he thinks you’re getting at.
Another deep breath and you start again, “I know why you spend so much time in your room.”
Tooru’s face flushes with color, the pink hue finding its way onto his skin and he laughs anxiously at your words. “I don’t think I follow.” He’s trying to change the subject, hellbent on finding a way out of this. “Are you saying you know that I masterbate Y/N?” He’s trying to tease you, hoping this conversation would stop and you would hand him his package and be on your way.
Cue your face turning red, but you huff in annoyance, throwing the box at him. “Yeah, if you mean that you’re streaming it.” He catches it and looks at you, eyes are blown wide, and he realizes this is the worst timeline to be alive in. You, on the other hand, are annoyed that you had to say it out loud and stand up, folding your arms and staring him down. “I don’t care, but I wish you would’ve said something to me. As your roommate and your best friend,” ouch, that hurt, “it would’ve been nice to know.”
With that, you march into the kitchen, looking for a way to cool off, but a pair of arms sneak around your waist as you rummage through the freezer.
“I’m sorry I didn’t say anything,” he mumbles into your hair. The close contact wasn’t abnormal, but it never felt like this. Your body heats up when his breath hits your skin, but you remain in your place. “I just- I didn’t know how you would react and Hajime kept telling me to talk to you about it, but I always get too nervous to bring it up.”
You spin around, his arms still on your hips, and watch his face carefully. He looks concerned still, but there’s a small pleading in his look. “And why were you nervous?”
Tooru’s face turns a shade darker, “It’s just weird, I guess. You’re one of the only girls in my life that I'm kinda serious about I didn’t wanna loose you if you thought that I just thought about sex all the time.”
Was that a confession? Your head starts to spin when he realizes what just happened.
“I MEAN, uh, you’re one of the only girls that I consider a big part of my life, you know?” He’s frantic and stumbling over his words, but you stay absolutely still. His grip on your hips loosens, he wants to run into his room but sticks it out to see what you do.
Instead, you surprise him by nuzzling yourself further into his neck. “You’re very important to me too, Tooru.” Your voice is soft, and muffled against his neck but he smiles into your head, living in the moment. He wraps his arms around your frame, squeezing you tight against his firm chest.
“I’m kinda serious about you too…” The statement was almost lost to the hum of the a.c. unit, but Tooru caught your words and he stiffened up. You stay exactly as you are, praying to whatever god is out there that this all works out in your favor.
It takes a few seconds for him to come back to earth, realizing how hot your face is against his skin, but once he regains consciousness he chuckles. The vibrations ripple through your body, as you both remain in one another's arms. Your first thought was that he was laughing at you, and the panic settles under your skin. He can feel you start to pull away, but tightens his grip on your body, effectively trapping you in this position.
“Iwa-chan’s right, we are idiots.” Everything is so confusing. Does he like me back? Is this a joke? What does Hajime have to do with any of this? Countless thoughts along these lines run through your head, and Tooru knows this. “We’ve both been pining over each other for months.”
His words process with high speeds as you pull back. He had loosened his grasp, but his hands remained on your sides as you both stared into each other's eyes. You search his for answers, while Tooru finds comfort in yours.
He laughs breathlessly once he can see your body relax, and he dips down to meet your lips. Tooru’s movements are fluid, moving both hands up to your jaw while tilting his head. You gasp once his soft lips meet yours. They taste like his dumb chapstick that he carries around everywhere.
Tooru takes it slow, moving at your pace while humming into the kiss. Pulling back after a few seconds, you lean forward to catch his lips before he detaches himself. Rubbing a thumb on your cheekbone, he flashes the most brilliant smile. In the year you’ve known him, this is the most genuine and beautiful thing you’ve ever seen him do, and you can see it in his eyes.
“Y/N,” his voice is ever so soft, gliding in the air from his lips to your ears. Tooru’s eyes hold nothing but adoration in them as you stare into each other's eyes. “I don’t want to be serious with anyone but you.”
The bright blush returns to your cheeks, the warmth between your two bodies rising exponentially. His thumb doesn’t stop moving across your cheekbones. He's in total bliss as nothing in the world could matter more than what was happening at this moment in your shared apartment.
You smile up at him and grab onto his hand that's stroking your face, and just hold it closer to your skin. After a light squeeze, you both shift positions to hug once more, Tooru's arms latching around your waist and yours around his neck.
"Thank you," he states, the world muffled from your hair as he has lodged himself in the crook of your neck.
"For what?" You mumble back, rubbing an arm up and down his neck.
A deep chuckle causes your body to rumble, and a soft breath cascades down your neck before he pressed feathery kisses behind your ear. They're lighter than air, but you can sense he's holding back a bit. "For not being upset with me, for putting up with me, for accepting me, for everything." His whispers are woven into your skin, goosebumps rising up and down your spine as he speaks.
You push yourself further into his chest, a silent affirmation that everything is okay and will be okay. He smiles as he continues to press his lips to your neck, humming in the silence.
After a few minutes more of embracing one another Tooru pulls away, hands grazing your hips as he stares deeply into your eyes. His chocolate iris’ swirl with several emotions as you take in the vulnerability. You have only known Tooru as the charming, flamboyant character he puts on around almost everyone else. Maybe once or twice in your year of living with him have you seen this side of him, in which he offers himself as he is, not as who he wants to be perceived as.
Tooru presses a quick kiss to your lips and puts some pressure on your hips, signalling he wants to move. You both relocate to the couch, where he traps you in his arms and lap.
“I’m curious,” you reposition to look up at him, but he chuckles at your wide and curious eyes. “How did you find out about my streams?” A teasing grin makes its way on to his lips and your brain short circuits.
“Uh.. about that…” You purse your lips, looking anywhere but him, embarrassed of the insinuation of your actions.
Tooru breath fans against your neck, his face dipping down into that crook once more while letting out a low laugh. Sparks fly between you two when his lips brush your ear. He whispers, “You’ve watched me, haven’t you?”
With lightning speed, you snap your face to match his, but he’s quick to recover the initial shock with a deep kiss. He cranes his neck to further the kiss, pulling at your bottom lip with his own. Still startled by his teasing, you give in easily to his antics and within seconds his tongue has entered your mouth.
A low growl escapes him all while you succumb to his movements. His hand snakes up your side, settling itself on your rib below your breast. Tooru rubs his thumb in that spot, but you are lost in his taste to feel his hand.
You start to move in sync with him, moving together and letting each other take the reigns. Oikawa adores your feisty spirit, and when it starts to show through your movements, it only excites him more. You explore his mouth with your tongue, and suck on his lower lip as he slowly moves his hand back down your sides to cup your ass.
Now that you’re in control of your actions, you feel his hand stop right above your butt, almost as if he’s asking permission, but you grab a hold of his wrist and shove it down. That hand lets go of his arm and down to the hem of his shirt. A few fingers make contact with his toned stomach, and he shivers at the cold sensation.
“Impatient much?” Tooru repositions you so you’re straddling him. You don’t break off the kiss and place your hands on either side of his face, the tips of his hair tickling your fingertips. His large hands grasp under your thighs as he hoists the both of you up and off of the couch. Hastily he moves down the hall and into your room, busting through the door and gently he places you down on the edge of your mattress.
You pull away, breathless and stare into his eyes once more. The tension in the room is thick, but warm and comforting. He smiles at the look in your eyes, knowing that you’re in no way anxious of what’s about to happen.
“Are you sure about this Y/N? We don’t have to do anything before the first date.” His smile is intoxicating, and he doesn’t want to pressure you in any way.
“I want you Tooru, I’m good,” this time you rub a thumb across his cheekbone in reassurance. Smiles on both of your faces, he dips back down to capture your lips and push you onto your back.
Your mattress is firm underneath you, the bed frame shifting under the weight of two people. The cold sheets scrunch under your back contrasting the warm embrace of Oikawa as he dips down on top of you, running a hand through your hair.
“Do you trust me?” He speaks while hovering over your body. You push yourself up to meet his lips, giving him a quick peck on the side of his mouth. “I’ll take that as a yes then.” You laugh and lay back down, pulling the front of his shirt to pull him down with you.
Tooru laughs into the kiss, pressing his chest into your own. All of his kisses are electrifying, the spark runs up and down your spine while you both like with one another.
You take the next step and tug at the hem of his shirt while wrapping your legs around his lower half. His skin raises in temperature but he follows suit, practically tearing the fabric off of himself. You watch Tooru get shirtless and fully take in his figure.
It's not like you haven't seen him like this, but this is the first time you've ever actually took a good, long look at Oikawa's figure (knowing it was him, at least). He works out regularly for volleyball and maintains a good diet, and it shows. His chest is firm when you place a hand on it, and his abs create a valley down his stomach.
As you feel him up and down, Tooru stares at your face as it scrunches curiously. "Like what you see cutie? It shouldn't be anything new."
You blush but smack his chest in retaliation. A low laugh escapes his lips, but he sneaks a hand to the bottom of your shirt, poking a few fingers into your stomach in a wordless question of what to do. You squirm in your position and he helps remove your shirt.
Arms cover your chest instantly as you realize you're wearing one of your older bras that isn't the most flattering thing on the planet.
Noticing the shift in tone, Tooru gently unfolds your arms. "None of that Y/N." You don't put up any resistance as he speaks sweet and salty worlds into your ear. His hands are coarse and rough, calloused from years of training but he untouched you with a softness, almost as if he was handling a dove.
He kisses your neck making his way down your chest while reaching underneath you, unclasping the bra and throwing it onto the floor.
With your breasts exposed, Oikawa pins your arms on either side and continues down your clavicle, down through the valley between your chest. You whimper when he suddenly takes one of your nipples into his mouth, gently biting and sucking of the soft bud.
Instinctually you squeeze your thighs together, but he stands between them and he hums into your breast, knowing you're starting to grow impatient. Tooru's other hand moves to the opposite breast, kneading it in his palm.
A soft moan escapes your lips and you roll your hips into his, shock waves of pleasure wrack your body while your cunt starts to throb.
Oikawa moves further down your stomach, reaching the button of your pants. He peers up at you, pupils dilated and hungry. You nod and lift your hips while he removes both the pants and panties you were wearing.
He stands at the edge of the bed, removing the rest of his clothes and let's his cock spring free. It's red at the tip, which reaches up to his abs from being hard.
Tooru’s hips meet yours, laying his long cock over your bare stomach while rubbing soft circles into your thighs. “Look at how deep I’m gonna be inside of you cutie.” A quiet whimper leaves your lips, wrapping your legs around his waist in a silent plea. His eyes burn into your skin.
“Tooru, please…” The desperation in your voice only spurs him on as he drinks you in, lying bare, begging for him. It’s everything he’s ever wanted, and his dick hardens further at the sound of your voice.
A switch flips in his brain once you swirl your hips, and a smirk pulls at his lips. He leans forward, pressing his body into your, getting dangerously close to your ear and fanning hot breath over your skin. Chills erupt from the sensation and make their way across your body, causing a whimper to involuntarily escape your mouth when his hot skin presses into your cold chest. “What do you want, Y/N?” Tooru’s voice is quiet, but the vibrations from his words have an effect on your body you thought wasn’t possible. He presses feathery kisses into the sweet skin on your neck, causing you to tilt your head.
“I want-” Your voice is breathless as you search for words. “I want you to-” Suddenly, he slips his dick in between your folds, slowly moving his hips up and down, getting himself ready with your slick. The electricity of his movements force a moan through your throat, Oikawa relishing in the sound of your voice as he uses his thumb moves to apply pressure on your clit.
Still breathing hot air onto your neck, he mumbles, “You want me to fuck you, is that it?” Your eyes shut as a thousand tiny confirmations leave your body, physical and not. He revels in the moment, realizing the control you both have over each other. He can’t help wanting more of you, all of you. Your aura is intoxicating, and Tooru feels drunk off of your presence.
“Please.” He continues grinding his length down your folds. “Just fuck me already.” Your voice is raspy, pleading for movement, connection, anything. Arms folding around his neck, you grind harder into his cock while he continues to rub the sensitive bud.
“So impatient.” His voice is dark, sultry and enticing. It draws you in, leaving you stunned and you can’t think straight anymore. “I bet you’ve wanted this. Watching me stream, you got to see all of me little cutie,” Tooru readjusts himself, placing the tip at your entrance, drawing circles with it. “Now I get to see all of you.”
He slowly pushes forward, letting his dick get sucked in to you as you cry out at the contact. Oikawa starts to lose himself at the feeling of your pussy when it twitches. His eyes never leave the sight of his cock disappearing into you.
You take a moment to breath as his hips lay flush with yours, but you take action and raise your hips. He hisses at the movement, not expecting you to set the pace so quickly.
Snapping out of it as you move your hips back, Tooru moans loudly and grabs one hip and leans over you, placing his other hand next to your face. His face gets inches in front of yours, matching your movements and leans in to take your lips once more.
His hips move back and forth, building up speed through both of you ravenous moans and whimpers. Through the sounds and movements, you feel his cock penetrate you with endless force, as if it fits perfectly inside of you.
You moan his name as Tooru pounds into you, scratching at his back from the waves of pleasure. Feeling you clench around him almost teasingly, the hand on your hip moves to your clit, and Oikawa starts to rub circles.
"Fuck Tooru!" You press your nails harder into his skin and he growls at the sensation. You can feel yourself getting close, the knot building larger with every second.
He pulls back from your lips and looks at your face. Your eyebrows are scrunched and your eyes are shut. The way his hips move is better than you could’ve imagined, even more sexual than his streams. Oikawa shifts his position to hit you deeper, his dick just barely hitting your cervix.
"I'm close," you mumble from bruised lips. He can’t hold himself back much longer and his thrusts become erratic. Tooru plants his lips on your ear, speaking a thousand words to you which you’re unable to hear. His thrusts and deep and fill you to the brim. The pleasure becomes too much for you to be able to focus and with one thrust you tense and the knot snaps.
He moans your name loudly when he feels your walls clench down on him. Swiftly, Tooru pulls out and finishes on your stomach, white ropes decorating your soft skin.
His head is still next to yours, but you’re both panting. It takes a few seconds for both of you to come back to your senses, but he prys himself up and off of you, looking down on his work. “You’re gorgeous Y/N, just fucking stunning.” He admires your glowing form while you stare at him, a smile adorning your features.
Oikawa moves first, placing another soft kiss to your lips before going to the bathroom for a warm towel. You lay in bed, just thinking about everything. How did I get here? You never thought that watching camboy porn would ever lead to you getting with the guy you’ve wanted for a while now, but if it works out then it works out you guess.
He returns a few moments later and cleans you up, throwing the rag with the rest of your clothes and climbs into the sheets, maneuvering you onto his chest where he cuddles you and runs a hand through your hair.
You close your eyes, breathing onto his bare chest and take in the beat of silence. You can’t see it, but Tooru looks down at you and smiles. You’re finally his. He can finally hold you in his arms and give you all the love he thinks you deserve. His heart swells at the notion, and makes a mental note to thank Iwaizumi later in general since he feels in a giving mood.
Oikawa feels your breath even out, your chest rising and falling in a slow pattern. Your senses are drifting from you, but you’re able to make out a few things before you pass out. Tooru places a kiss on the crown of your head, pressing his lips into your hair and he whispers something before you completely fall asleep.
“I love you Y/N.”

(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6)
Chapter 5: Don't Jinx It!
·•·—–·•†•·–—·•·
Chloé Bourgeois... A girl that can be described in many words
"She's absolutely ridiculous! I can't believe you have to do an art project with her of all people!" - Alix sprawled out on Marinette's balcony
"She can't be that bad, besides we might become friends." - Marinette sketching some designs
"Believe me, even I think she's a bit much... She's snobby, annoying, rude, immature, spoiled, she basically has the “I'm better than thow” attitude to a T."- Kagami sitting next to the flowerbed while reading a literature book
"See? Even Kagami agrees... Just don't talk to her, actually don't even move if you're in her sights. She's like a T-Rex, she can't see you if you don't move." - Alix
… … … … …
"Hello, I'm Marinette, it's nice to meet you." - Marinette reached out her hand as she smiled
*Que Alix facepalming herself while Kagami lets out a sigh*
"Whatever, I'm Chloé, but I'm sure you already knew that." - Chloé
They started their project and most interactions went the same way, Chloé would sit in a chair near the window and paint her nails while Marinette did all the work. The next day Marinette and Chloé were the only ones in the art room.
"Okay, let's get started." - Marinette skipping her way over to the art supplies
"You do that, I'll just sit over here." - Chloé walking to her chair
"... Say, is it fun painting your nails?" - Marinette looking over to Chloé
"Of course, what girl doesn't like nail art?" - Chloé
"Well, painting on a canvas is kind of like nail art, here try painting something." - Marinette handing Chloé a paint brush
"Please, I don't do art." - Chloé refusing the paint brush
"But you ‘Paint’ your nails." - Marinette
"It's different!" - Chloé
"Okay, how about this, if I can do a magic trick for you, will you try painting just a little bit?" - Marinette
"...Fine, impress me." - Chloé giving Marinette her full attention
Marinette pulled a seed she got earlier that day out of her pocket and showed it to Chloé
"A seed?" - Chloé giving an unimpressed look
"I'll turn it into a flower, as you can see I only have this seed, and there's nothing up my sleeves. When I turn back around this seed will be a flower, are you ready?" - Marinette still holding the seed for Chloé to see
"Just do it already." - Chloé
So, Marinette turned around putting her free hand over the seed, and imagined it growing. When Marinette turned back around, all Chloé saw was a fully bloomed Common Rockrose flower, leaving her stunned.
"How did you do that?!" - Chloé walking up to Marinette to get a better look at the flower
"Family secret." - Marinette with a small smirk - "So, you want to try painting now?"
"... Fine." - Chloé pouted her lips and sat down at an empty canvas while Marinette walked to the table beside it, and Marinette may or may not have seen a small smile on Chloé's face while she grabbed some more paint.
After about 30 minutes Alix and Kagami came in and found Chloé and Marinette flinging water paint at the canvas
"Ha!" - Marinette whiped her arm out, watching as the wet paint from the brush splattered onto the canvas
"Ha HA!" - Chloé doing the exact same motion, but with a little more flare
Kagami and Alix just stared in amazed silence... they had created a master piece... It was a magnificent painting showing a meadow with many flowers in an almost hazy dream kind of look, it had a blue sky and a faint rainbow in the background behind some clouds on the horizon
"It's *sniff* Ridiculously beautiful..." - Chloé
"And you thought painting was boring." - Marinette teasing Chloé
"... Isley-Quinzel, look me in the face and say that again." - Chloé
"And you- ("Boop" - Chloé) -Hey!" - Marinette got booped on her nose by Chloé's paint covered finger
"I admit it was fun... to some extent. Now lets act like this never happened." - Chloé getting ready to leave
"How the hell did you get Chloé to paint?!" - Alix snapping out of her surprise, which caused Chloé to get startled and trip, knocking the paint onto Marinette and herself in the process
"Well... that was a colorful entrance." - Marinette now covered in blue, pink, green and red paint
"Utterly Ridiculous!" - Chloé now covered in yellow, dark green, and blue paint
"Ooops?" - Alix shrugging her shoulders
*facepalms* - Kagami
… … …
Marinette and Chloé had to walk around school covered in paint, definitely getting a few awkward stares from the other kids. About an hour later, each pair of students presented their shared work of art. When Marinette and Chloé went up, both holding their masterpiece while still covered in paint, stunned the other students.(Not because Chloé was 1. covered in paint, 2. actually carrying the painting, and 3. had a smile on her face) Needless to say they got an A+, and for the rest of the day Marinette, Chloé, Alix and Kagami hung out laughing and having fun. Not long after that the other kids started making bets on who Marinette would befriend next, and how long it would take for that someone to be an instant friend.
Chloé ended up spending a lot more time with the GPS and eventually...
The girls sat around in a circle within Marinette's room with all the lights off, only having a single lamp in the center of the room to add an ominous glow
"Are you ready to take the oath?" - Alix
"Yes, but why do we have to make it look like some utterly ridiculous ritual summoning?" - Chloe
"I agree with Chloé, I'm not allowed to summon the unnatural or paranormal." - Kagami
"Well, let's forget the paranormal stuff for now, ehem. Chloé Bourgeois, do you promise to always have our backs..." - Marinette
"Through the good and the bad..." - Alix
"To say the truth and nothing but the truth." - Kagami
"Wrong oath Kagami." - Marinette whispering to Kagami
"...... To always stay on the path that is straight and true..." - Kagami
"To uphold the justice in this crazy world..." - Alix
"And to guide those who have abandoned the light... Are you ready to join the GPS?" - Marinette
"Yes." - Chloé
"Girls, time to eat- ... Marinette, please tell me you aren't summoning the unnatural like Harley did that one time." - Selina just opening the door and seeing basically a ritual gathering
"In mom's defense, she was trying to get rid of the spooky spirit." - Marinette
"That was from a story Ed made up that one time, you wouldn't stop seeing the shadows ‘moving’, and then Harley thought she saw them move, and she ended up doing a ritual to get rid of it, but we ended up with the cursed toaster ghost. And now all bread we toast is burnt back home." - Selina
"... But burnt toast is the best!" - Marinette
"Ivy told you that it would make you grow quicker, which then tricked you into liking burnt toast, which isn't tasty at all." - Selina
"*dramatic gasp* You Take That Back!" - Marinette
"Nope, now come down in 3 so we can eat." - Selina closed the door and walked away
"You girls agree with me right?" - Marinette turning to her friends
"... Marinette, how can you think burnt toast is good?!" - Alix
"It's... burnt." - Kagami
"Ehhh, it's okay." - Chloé
"Thank You!" - Marinette hugging Chloé
"... un-second thought, I retract my ‘yes’ to that oath." - Chloé
"Too late." - Kagami
"You're stuck with us..." - Alix then leaned over and whispered in Chloé's ear - "Foreverrrrr."
……… ……… ………
After they had their food they went back up to Marinette's (ritual free) room and started playing Ultimate Mecha Strike 2.
After a few rounds of Marinette dominating Ultimate Mecha Slaughter Strike 2, they moved on to watching some Jurassic Park
"So... your mom cursed your toaster?" - Chloé
"... maybe." - Marinette
"Honestly though, who in their right mind likes burnt toast?" - Alix
"Apparently Marinette." - Kagami
"It's kinda like thin burnt rice crispy treats, just minus the sugar." - Marinette
"*dramatic gasp* You Take That Back Right Now." - Alix
"You don't even know what rice crispy treats are, do you." - Marinette now looking away from the TV and directly at Alix
"Not a clue." - Alix
"It's an American treat, it's actually really good, not to sweet, and not to crunchy." - Chloé
"This is why you are part of the GPS." - Marinette hugging Chloé - "You understand most red blooded American treats, and for that I give you my thanks." - Marinette now starting to tear up
"What are we, chop liver?" - Kagami pointing to Alix and herself
"Well unlike you two, I have seen the other side... I swear, they're all hillbillies, and they live in the worst weather ever! Sunshine state my ass, more like out door saunas 24/7." - Chloé ended up mumbling her last few words
"... That's Florida, and it's not that bad, it never gets hotter than 115°F, and that's during summer." - Marinette
"... No wonder you like burnt toast... your brains were burnt with it." - Alix
"I didn't live in Florida, I lived in New Jersey, and the weather is better there." - Marinette
"That's what she said." - Kagami stuffing her face with popcorn
……… ……… ………
Over the course of the next few months Marinette taught the GPS all she knew about parkour and self-defense, at first they wondered why she knew so many different techniques of self-defense, until she explained where she grew up had a few unpleasant people. They still think she's meta.
When Winter rolled around she was to head back to Gotham for the next month and a half. She was packed and ready when the GPS burst into her room.
"Don't leave! I need an Ice skating buddie!" - Alix clinging to Marinette
"You have Chloé and Kagami, besides, I'm pretty sure Kagami is better on the ice than I am." - Marinette accepting the fact she won't be getting Alix off her anytime soon
"It's Not The Same!" - Alix becoming a human koala on Marinette's back
"She's going to see her family, show some restraint!" - Chloé detaching Alix from Marinette
"No!" - Alix getting out of Chloé's grip and reattaching herself to Marinette
"There's a new attraction with a big ramp jump for the ice skating rink." - Kagami on her phone
"Really?! Let me see!" - Alix detaching herself to look at Kagami's phone, only to see the normal boring ice skating rink - "You tricked me." - Alix gave Kagami the stink eye
"It got you off of Marinette at least." - Kagami putting her phone away
"I'm gonna miss you girls." - Marinette gave them a big hug
"You better not do anything stupid while you're back home." - Chloé
"I would never." - Marinette thinking of the time she ran from the Bat-Birds
"What city in New Jersey do you live in again?" - Alix
"That's-" - Marinette
"Kitten you all set for Gotham?" - Selina opened the door and saw Marinette in a big hug with the girls - "Oh, you girls are here, hope you said your goodbyes because we're leaving in 10 minutes." - She then closed the door to make sure everything was ready downstairs
"... ... ..." - Chloé/Alix/Kagami - "You live where?"
"Gotham...?" - Marinette slowly backing up to grab her luggage and make her way to the door
"Oh hell No!" - Kagami standing between Marinette and the door
"You're staying!" - Alix clinging to Marinette again
"Gotham's a death trap!!!" - Chloé joining Alix and clinging to Marinette
... ... ...
After some convincing the girls let Marinette go, and she was now on the plane that would take her back home.
"... They really think Gotham's a death trap?" - Selina relaxing in the first class seats she got them.
"It's not that bad is it? I had asked them what they thought could even go wrong." - Marinette
"... Well literally everything can go wrong in Gotham... It's not to late to get off actually." - Selina getting up
"Not you too!" - Marinette grabbing her Aunt's hand
"I'm joking Kitten... you are wearing the bullet proof vest under that coat right?" - Selina
"Of course." - Marinette
"Then we should be fine..." - Selina now sitting back down and looking 10 times more nervous than before
"..." - Marinette put her hands together and mumbled under her breath - "Please don't jinx it. Please don't jinx it. Please don't jinx it. Pleeeeease don't jinx it."
……………… They had an hour delay, had to switch flights and couldn't eat anything because it looked like it would give them food poisoning, and they didn't get a wink of sleep......... but they made it to Gotham in one piece... at 2 in the morning.
"You jinxed it." - Marinette dragging her luggage sleepily
"It can't get any worse now-" - Selina
"No!-" - As Marinette tried to stop her Aunt from finishing her sentence, a truck past by the curb and sent a blanket of powdered snow flying into them - "-say it..."
"...Okay, now it-" - Selina was cut off by Marinette stuffing her mouth with the last secret cookie she had
"Don't anger the jinx gods, please." - Marinette pleading to her Aunt
After Selina finished the secret cookie she called Ivy to pick them up. They waited about 15 minutes before Ivy, along with a sleeping Harley in the back seat, picked them up. As they got in the car Harley jolted awake
"Are we dere yet?" - Harley rubbing her eyes
"Yes, and in our snow covered glory we entered the car." - Marinette giving her mom a hug
"I missed yuh so much, it just hasn't been de same wit'outcha cupcake." - Harley returning the hug
"And what about me, did you miss me?" - Selina getting comfortable in the passenger seat
"Ehhh." - Harley tilted here hand from side to side as she continued to side hug Marinette
"... Have I ever told you how great you are at warm welcomes?" - Selina giving Harley the stink eye
"She didn't mean it, you know she has no filter at this hour." - Ivy pulling up to the stoplight
"In other words her honest opinion of me being back is ‘ehhh’, I'm glad she thinks so highly of me." - Selina resting her head on the window
The ride to their base was peaceful, they arrived and went to their rooms after Marinette gave her moms and aunt a goodnight hug. As Marinette went to sleep in her bed, Bud and Lou jumped onto the bed and curled up next to her, as she stroked their fur, she couldn't help but feel excited to spend time with her family and friends. She soon fell asleep in the calm silence of her room, the last thought she had before drifting off, was that she was happy to be back home.

The Birthday Fic
Several months in the making. Started around Ruggie’s birthday (Which is why he’s the opener) completed long past my own birthday.
Content warning for coarse language, sexuality, mentions of illness and the medication needed for managing it, and getting wildly horny to a point that even I was impressed with myself.
As always, there’s more in my Twisted Wonderland Fanfiction tag, send me a message if you liked it! (I know what the birthday gifts were from most everyone, even if not mentioned in-fic.)
~*~*~*~
"I'm sorry dude, what did you say? You ears started going and I just tuned the fuck out."
"I said, 'when's it your turn to have the school-run birthday party?' It's got it be soon." Ruggie's intentionally twitching his damn ears, has to be, and you had to physically shield your eyes to be able to answer properly.
"I don't fucking know, man, I need to have a birthday for that."
"Everyone has a birthday."
"Yeah, but I don't know when mine is."
"Can't Crowley tell you? He's got all kind of magic."
You sighed. "He tried that, so I could remember my proper name. He can't even get a year fix."
"That fucking sucks, Yuu." Ruggie passed you a pop can before cracking open one himself. "You should get one of these, too."
"Ah, maybe Riddle will take pity and dedicate me a specific Unbirthday party." What was this, melon? Not bad.
"That's not the same because you won't get loot."
"Yeah, you wanna go through fifty boxes of chocolates to get rid of all the ones with potion-of-suck-your-dick? I'm good."
He scrunched his nose in disgust. "People still trying love spells on you?"
"Not as much, but I still get Mal to check them over for me. He's good about that."
"He just doesn't want to share."
"Shush."
"It's true!" He stopped for a moment. "Does he know you don't have a birthday?"
"He hasn't realized yet and you're not going to tell him."
~*~*~*~
"Yuu?"
"Trey?" You blinked up at him. You didn't talk as much as you'd like to, mostly because every time he showed up your mouth rapidly filled with whatever treat he'd just made.
"What do you like best for cake?"
"I will literally eat anything that you put in front of me if you make it, even if it's full of shit I hate."
He raised an eyebrow. "Okay, new angle. What don't you like?"
Oh boy, he better prepare himself. "Fondant tastes gross, modeling chocolate is white chocolate so I hate it, a cake should be cake and not mostly fucking icing and rice crispy treats, most icing's too heavy for me if it's not whipped cream- why are you writing this down."
He looked up from his notebook, blinking at you with his pleasing yellow eyes. "Because you always give thoughtful feedback to my baking and I want to make you something as a thank you."
"Oh. If that's it, I'd rather have cheesecake."
~*~*~*~
"Mon Trickster~"
"Rook, I'm trying to re-" You yelped as he squeezed your waist, and you swatted at him. "Fuck's gotten into you?"
"What, I cannot play with my sweet friend?" He'd dragged you from your seat in the library, and was now doing his damndest to twirl you around without ramming you through the tables.
"Not right now! I expect this shit from Floyd, not you." He's going to get you both kicked out of the library if he doesn't smarten up.
"Our dearest Malfeasant is playing with the Rose King right now. Besides, he lacks my talents." He stretched your arms out straight before twirling you around, your back pressed to his front.
"Is that getting away with being a shithead?" you ask as you pap the side of his face, too little force to be a slap but with a similar message of 'stop'.
"Amongst much else, my dear!" He managed to dip you low, bracing one of your legs in the air, and you wiggled out of his grasp with a thump to the floor.
"Ah, what an invitation, ma belle! But alas, I cannot. It could never be. I'll see you at lunch." And he left you there, baffled, on the floor.
You wound up getting kicked out of the library after you started shrieking in rage and kicking like a damned toddler. What the fuck was that about?
~*~*~*~
"People are being weird."
"Everyone's weird around you." If Idia's combo kept, this would be a perfect match. "You encourage it in people with your presence. It's a passive AOE. No fighting against it."
"More than normal."
"It's the curse of spring. If you aren't sneezing, you see pretty girls and get stupid." He got his perfect match, and went back to the lobby. "Even I'm not immune to simp fever and spring flowers."
"You sure? You only go outside so you don't die of Vitamin D deficiency."
He pouted at you. "Girlfriends are supposed to be nice to you, you know."
"If I stopped, you'd wonder what's wrong. Anyway, then you couldn't brag to your followers about a tsundere girlfriend."
"You're not even a tsundere! You genuinely like me even when you're mean." He leaned back and stared at the ceiling. "You're maybe sadodere."
"What's that one?"
"Sadistic yet affectionate."
You opened your mouth but genuinely couldn't argue. He was too fucking cute not to be mean to! What can you say? That pwease-no-buwwy aura he got when distressed was just too much.
"Yeah." He paused, a small smile creeping across his face. "Yuu."
"Yeah?"
"You really like stripes, don't you?"
You looked down, at his blue striped shirt you were wearing. It honestly fit you better than it did him. Further down was pinstriped socks, and if you remembered, the underwear had stripes too.
"What do you think."
~*~*~*~
"Mal?" "Yes?" "Why do you have all this even if you don't wear any of it?" "I do wear earrings now, thanks to you." He dropped another oversized ring onto your finger. "The rest, I simply don't bother with unless I must appear in an official capacity."
"So I'm a special occasion?"
He smiled at you, sweet and genuine. "Always."
"Then why am I your jewelry rack today?" So many necklaces. So many rings. There'd be a crown on your head, too, if the crowns for Draconias weren't essentially elabourate chains hanging off the horns.
"Perhaps I enjoy seeing you wearing my things. You wear Shroud's all the time." He was slowly going through a box of rings, trading them on and off your fingers after puzzling over them.
"Your clothes are tailored, and I'm too big around." You thought for a moment. "So, Mal."
"Yes?"
"Are you planning on something you aren't telling me?"
He blanched and immediately went shift eyed. "Of course not."
You took a breath. "I'm gonna say no."
"Yuu-"
"I'm pretty sure your grandmother would eat me alive if I said yes."
"No!" He made a shushing guesture. "I... am planning something. But not a proposal, my goodness, that would be too much pressure for you and would splinter the kingdom." He sighed. "Even if I would like it."
"I know you would. What are you planning."
"No."
"Yes, tell me."
"It's a surprise. You'll get it at some point in the future."
You thought back to some of the stranger events of the past few weeks. "... is it a birthday party, Malleus."
"Nnnnnnoooooooooooooo?" His face was a desperate, wide-eyed mask of please-believe-me.
"Yes it is."
"I didn't say that."
"You might as well have!"
"It's not." He wasn't even facing you anymore, knowing his face would betray him.
You took a deep breath.
"I can keep pretending I don't know. I mean, if you want to throw a surprise party, I can't really stop you. And anyway," you added, "If I don't have a set birthday, there's no way I can know exactly when it's coming."
He relaxed, slightly.
"Don't get me a ring, though."
He chuckled. "That does have implications, doesn't it."
"Don't it, though?"
"I was checking what colours were most flattering for you." He finally turned around, all warm smiles. "I should have known. They all look lovely, because you're the one wearing them."
"Stop." You could feel you cheeks reddening. "If it helps, gold doesn't make my ears act up."
~*~*~*~
When you walked to your dorm one warm day, after school, you simply could not see the building for the brambles grown up since you left this morning.
"Yuu?"
"Grim?"
He squinted at you, unimpressed. "Your prince boyfriend has lost his fucking mind. Why'd he do this?"
"I think I know." You looked in amongst the branches, which held no roses, but something better. You plucked off a blackberry and held it to your little shoulder monster.
"Ew, no. I want tuna."
"Suit yourself." There was a path, and if you got on tiptoes, a tent half-hidden behind the briar. "You ready for a party, Grim?"
"What? What party?"
You shifted him from your shoulder to your hip as you walked along, careful of your sore arm. "They decided I needed a surprise party because I don't have an actual birthday. Figured it out like two... three? weeks ago."
"Why didn't you tell me?" He stopped, looked away, and bristled. "Why didn't they tell me?!?"
"Because you can't keep a fucking secret?"
He yelled and scrambled to the ground. "Hey assholes why didn't you tell me I better be getting presents too-" He's already out of sight, and you can't stop laughing at him. It's better like this, when he's himself.
~*~*~*~
Why is Everyone here. There's a huge stack of presents, there's a buffet table, there's chairs, there's -
"Shrimpie's here!" And then everyone converged with enough words that it was just a wall of sound; mystery hands leading you to a chair, someone was trying to stick a hat on you -
"Wait!"
People only stepped off and quieted because your voice cracked. Idia, hiding in a corner, managed to raise sympathetic eyebrows before whispering something into Azul's ear.
"I gotta go inside for like, five minutes, I'll be right back." And off you went.
~*~*~*~
"You don't seem the type to do drugs."
You looked up and laughed. "Well, Vil, I gotta get through the day somehow." You shook out two pills and poured a glass of water.
"What are they for?" He leaned against the doorway, as though it wouldn't cover his clothes with splinters and dust.
"These," you said as you pointed to the two in your hands "are anti-nausea. They're new."
"How many of those do you take?" He nodded towards the other bottles on the counter. “I didn’t see them during training.”
"Well," you said, as you started to number them off on your fingers. "I started the first ones after Eliza, to help stabilize my organs, the second ones were immunity-boosting after my pneumonia, I started taking vitamins after that as well, I got sleeping pills for nightmares after Jamil blotted - they don't always work, but hey - and, well." You shook your current bottle. "Your curse vapours are pretty good, it turns out."
He blanched, and you backpedaled. "You weren't yourself, and I only have to take these before meals now. I had to get IVs in the morning for a few days, I couldn't keep... wait, wait, shit, no, I'm sorry, don't make that face -"
Vil crossed the distance, putting his face very close to yours. "You should have told me."
"Why make you feel even worse, man?"
"Because I could have formulated something better for the damage." He flicked your nose, more exasperation than malice. "Cures and poison go hand in hand. I can't fix what was done if I don't know."
"Taking care of my medical woes is not your job, Vil."
"You don't get to tell me what is and isn't my job." He squeezed you close with one arm. "You're just an exhausting little potato."
"I'm a delicious little sweet potato that you can't resist."
He sighed, exhausted. "Yes you are. Now take your pills and stop with secrets."
~*~*~*~
"What kept you?"
"Had to make sure there's room in the fridge for all your food, Trey." He hadn't chosen one cheesecake - he had at least two dozen varieties of bite sized miniatures, labeled by flavour and potential allergens. "You were busy."
"Well, I felt like experimenting. I hope you don't mind."
"You're the one doing me a favour." You looked around, everyone chatting idly with one another. "Where's Mal."
"..."
"I swear to fucking god if he didn't get an invitation to the party he helped organize-"
~*~*~*~
It turns out he'd left to fetch an obnoxiously large bouquet of flowers, the scent so overpowering you thought your chair might tip from the force of it.
"You do enjoy them?" Mal was so cute when unsure.
"Yes, dear." As long as people didn't crowd in again. Lately, you can only take so much sensation before your brain shorts out and you start yelling. "Set them on the table, I'll have to start on them later." Hairspray and an arid room would have those dried within the week.
"Which part of the celebration will we start with first?"
"I don't know. It's my party but you're the ones throwing it. Where's Grim?"
He pointed over to one of the set up tables, where Grim sat in a pile of wrapping paper, furiously kick-scratching at a wriggling toy fish as big as he was, while Cater filmed. "We realized a few days ago he'd be unhappy if he didn't get his own presents."
"Aww. Is there catnip in that?"
He leaned in conspiratorially. "We're not supposed to have any on campus because Kingscholar is susceptible to it."
You went right past normal laughter straight to wheezing.
~*~*~*~
So far, the highlights were: A mycological photobook from Jade big enough to crush someone's head with (that he cheerfully wrote as such on the inside flap), an enormous multipack of slipper socks from Ruggie (with a note saying it was a return on the doughnut-patterened ones you'd given him for his own birthday) and a parure set from Floyd, crafted from thousands of woven seed pearls with carved coral feature beads that was frankly obscene in the amount of money it must have cost. (He, of course, said it was worth it as long as you wore it for him, and simply laughed when you quipped that he meant with clothing right?)
The rest was fantastic, still - various books and movies, a pretty glass vase from Ace stuffed with wildflowers, fine silk dresses from Kalim and a simple belled bracelet tucked in, from Jamil. Currently, you were opening a basket from Vil.
"Oh, wow," you meant with sincerety as you pulled out a light, fragrant soap. "You make this yourself?"
"Yes. There's soaps, shampoo, conditioner, perfumes, lotions..."
You smiled at him sweetly. "You saying I stink, Shoenheit?"
He mirrored your smile right back at you. "Be sure to use them."
"... I'm going to kill you," you said, laughing, as you lobbed the wrapping paper at his face.
~*~*~*~
"Az?"
"Mm?" He was watching with amusement as you looked the jacket over, a lovingly tailored frock coat in periwinkle wool and shell toggles.
"Are you sure this'll fit?"
"Of course." He guestured down the table to Rook, who waved. "He checked your measurements."
"When did-" Ohhhhhh. Oh. Alright. "I'm surprised he couldn't tell by just looking."
"I could, mon ange! But that was more fun!"
~*~*~*~
Malleus barely hid his pout when sliding his box over to you, and it didn't take you long to guess why. "Floyd's jewels really show yours up, huh."
"Perhaps," he said, pointedly not looking at the boy currently playing with Grim.
"Yours are more special because they're from you." When unwrapped, the box was stunning; carved walnut with shell inlaid curlicues. "My god, how old is this?"
"Older than I am," he said with a smile.
"How old is that, Mal."
He just kept smiling, and you rolled your eyes and opened the box to reveal a piece far, far different than the frothy confection Floyd gave you. A single, sizable brooch of gilt and enamel, a tiny faerie woman staring up at you with imperious emerald eyes, she was so lovingly crafted you could see the tension of her muscles and the hair between her legs.
"This piece is only a hundred and fifty years old," he said mildly. "The artist lives in the Valley of Thorns, and created it in the image of her lover." His smile was fond, and sweet. "They're still together to this day. Even if we may not last so long, I hope that it can be as strong."
The sentiment was enough to make you tear up.
~*~*~*~
Several tissues and a bat-shaped blanket from Lilia later, Idia pulled out a large box. And another, and another.
"Uh, Idia."
He just turned red as he stacked another box.
"Dude, holy fuck. What did you do?"
"Looked at your wishlist on your shopping websites." He's flickering pink at the tips of his hair. "Couldn't decide."
"I told him to just get them all!" Ortho looked wildly proud of himself. "Some of them are from me."
You blinked several times. "I thought the sites broke." You started feeling faint. "Idia."
"Yes?" He finally brought out one last box, easily two thirds your height, and set it in front of you.
"Some of those dolls were... so much madol."
He was shifty-eyed. "Yeah."
"Some of the outfits were themselves more than some of the dolls on those wishlists."
Despite the redness, his face was still. "Yeah."
"Oh my god." You're already sitting down, but you need to lie down. "That's too much money."
"It's nothing, don't worry about it."
"Why do you have so much money one of those sites alone was at least a million madol's worth of-"
"Please just open the boxes," he said in a strained voice. "I don't want them all staring."
You take your shaking hands to start unwrapping, mentally trying to figure out which rooms in the building were sound enough to hold obscene amounts of porcelain, resin and plastic. By the time you were done, there were over forty of varying shapes and sizes with complete wardrobes for each; the last not even on any list - that was an art piece near as tall as you, a fine bone china girl with golden curls and knowing eyes from an artist whose work did not go for less than five million madol even firsthand. Your vision greyed at the sight of her, and when you came to your senses, everyone breathed a sigh of relief before spending the rest of the evening treating you as something at least as delicate and precious as her.
~*~*~*~
It's just past sunset, and guests are still milling about. You're not really looking at them, though - you're losing your little friend.
Grim's only himself in daylight, now. Once the night hits, he goes back to the strange, feral thing that laid your wrist open to eat a chunk of solid ink. He's gone twitchy, wordless, pacing with his now headless robot fish in his mouth, before finally tearing through the brambles to god-knows-where.
"... I don't know what to do about it. He doesn't come back at night anymore. What if he doesn't come back at all one night?"
"I won't let that happen." Idia was draped over the back of your chair, idly playing with the wrapping on your wrist. You couldn't see his face, but a curious tension was clear in his voice. "How many of those crystals has he eaten?"
"All of them, as far as I know." There may have been one on the camping trip that you were mercifully excluded from; thankfully your restraining order against Vargas meant that Grimm had been allowed to attend by himself. Good thing, too, your period had arrived weeks early. "Do you think it's like mercury poisoning? The effects get worse as more collects in his body?"
"Maybe. It's something to look into."
You snorted, lightly. "What do you know about it?"
"... Less than I'd like." Before you could ask, he leaned down to your ear to whisper, "I'd rather know you."
"What, now?" You looked around at the tables. "There's still people here-"
You barely stifled a cry when he nipped at your earlobe. "I put on something nice for you~" You could hear the smirk in his voice as he played every trick in his book to goad you. "Unwrap me and see~"
It took every ounce of self control in you to not throw him down on the table and take him right there, in front of God and every student in the school.
~*~*~*~
"I'm too late, I see."
"Close that damned door before everyone hears."
Malleus obediently shut the door to the balcony before setting his slotted pillow on the dresser. "They couldn't even if they had their ear to the door, I soundproofed all our rooms months ago."
"Aren't you clever. Did they buy the excuse?"
"I think that they would have believed that you were going to bed if you did not say it as soon as Shroud went inside looking very proud of himself."
You flopped back onto your pillows, eliciting a sleepy grunt from Idia. "Shit."
"And if you didn't trip on the stairs in your haste."
"Now you're making fun of me."
"Perhaps," he smiled, sitting at the foot of your bed and idly stroking your leg.
"So, why didn't you tail up after us?"
"I am, if I try very hard, capable of some discretion, even when it comes to you," he huffed. "And anyway, someone had to see everyone off, get everything put away, and bring the gifts inside."
Your face fell. "I'm sorry-"
He crept up to put a finger to your lips. "It was very simple. Now," he pressed himself against you and turned to look at Idia's drowsing form, "what is this?"
You snickered lightly to yourself. "I think he found my browsing history." All you'd left on him was a fine pair of silk stockings, with delicate stripes from thigh to toe. You'd never thought he'd even consider wearing something like that, but your pretty blue boy was so full of surprises.
Malleus hummed to himself as he reached out a hand, dragging a finger along one bruised hip. Idia only sighed and fluttered his lashes, and Mal let out a stuttering gasp.
"Do you think," he whispered, voice hoarse, "that if I took these off with my teeth, that he would still stay asleep?"
You felt faint at the thought. "I don't know, but let me watch you try."
~*~*~*~
You awoke, later, to Idia sitting with the blankets pooled around his waist, five of his blue screens open. You couldn't make much sense of them, too sleepy to make out the letters on their obnoxious brightness, so you reached out both hands to squeeze his waist.
He yelped and scowled at you. "Go to sleep."
"No, you." The screens weren't making any more sense, but there was, briefly, a picture of Grim. "What are you working on?"
"I'm almost done," he said, which was not an answer but you were too tired to notice, so you reached up his back to wind a few locks of hair around your hand - and pulled, which lead to another annoyed yelp as he quickly saved and closed his work. "Just say you're weak to light attacks instead of doing that."
"You know I am." When he finally laid back down beside you, you put your face to his chest, as much to block out the light from his hair as for warmth and comfort. No wonder he slept so poorly, he literally gave off blue light every hour of the day, that only dimmed once he was already asleep. "Tell me about it later, okay?"
"Later," he said, and you drifted off between your two boys, which was almost as nice as sleeping with Grim in your bed, but this would have to do until he got better.

a return to roots | 5
pairing: kita shinsuke x f!reader
summary: y/n is a rising star in the music industry, having almost everything you could have ever hoped for as a small-town country girl. now after releasing two triple platinum albums in consecutive years, you face the dreaded artist’s burnout… in order to recover, your manager suggests, you should return to your hometown in hyōgo for a long-deserved break.
genre: socmed/smau, slice of life
warnings/tags: timeskip!, mutual pining, slow burn? more like rekindling, slight canon divergence
masterpost
Ichiro arrived right on time at 5:45 in the morning, buzzing your door just as you had gotten dressed after a quick shower. Steam wafted out of the bathroom as you rushed to the door to greet him and show him where the luggage was. Without anything to say, he promptly picked up one of the large hard case suitcases and you followed suit, going after him into the elevator. When your bodyguard loaded both of your cases into the trunk of his car and then opened the door for you to get into the car, you quickly said, "I need to double check everything in there is fine. I'll be back in a minute."
After reassuring Ichiro that you would be ok by yourself, you dashed back inside to survey your apartment, checking each room to make sure you hadn't left anything important behind. The kitchen and living room were clean, check. When you got to your bedroom, you paused, seeing one of your acoustic guitars sitting in the corner. Should you bring it? Were you actually going to write music? When you had announced your hiatus officially, you had stated that it was to gain inspiration for new music... but then that wouldn't really be a break, would it? You gnawed on your lip, remembering what Kuroo had asked of you the night before: "Take care of yourself in Hyōgo, alright? You're there for a reason; to take a break."
You scowled, cursing Kuroo and his knowledge of your work habits. But, a voice inside you reasoned, it wouldn't be work if you were writing just for fun... You thought back to those moments in your childhood home, in your room, writing songs and uploading them to YouTube and SoundCloud without thinking that anything would come of it; back before you felt any pressure to perform. Back to when you wrote lyrics that weren’t very sophisticated, but earnest and heartfelt all the same… back to when you had your muse to sit beside you every step of the songwriting process.
Before you could convince yourself otherwise, you ran to the corner of your room and snatched the guitar, put it in its case, and then snapped it shut with finality.
If Ichiro was confused about you carrying down another piece of luggage, he said nothing, only staring ahead and driving when you were buckled. "Onigiri Miya," you reminded him, then settled into your seat. The ride there wasn't too far from your apartment; you had rented out the space because of its convenience, so anywhere you usually wanted to go to was within a reasonable distance. You watched the traffic with disinterest and spotted restaurants with dim lighting inside, most likely already prepping for the day ahead of them. The world kept moving on ahead, regardless of whether or not you liked it.
When you arrived at Onigiri Miya, Osamu was already out back in the van, probably waiting impatiently. You checked the clock in the car and clicked your tongue. You weren’t even late.
When you stepped out of the car, Osamu opened his door and got out too. You smiled widely. “Samu!” You rushed forward and gave him a strong hug, which he somewhat reciprocated. He wasn’t as big on physical touch as his brother.
Osamu only rolled his eyes though, patting your back as you told him he looked great. “You do, too. Want me to help with your bags?”
You led him to the trunk of your ride, where Ichiro was already opening it and carrying one of your suitcases. Osamu hefted the other one up, and you trailed behind with the guitar case. After securing everything in the back of the van, you turned to your bodyguard.
You smiled, a genuine smile, and then repeated what you’d already told him over text. “Well, Ichiro-san, I don’t know the next time I’ll see you. I’ll make sure to text you in advance if I plan on going to more public areas.” He said nothing, so you continued. “Thank you very much for all you’ve done for me, and I look forward to seeing you again in the future!” You gave him a bow, which he reciprocated stiffly before quickly getting back into his own car and driving off.
You sighed, then looked to Osamu. He quirked an eyebrow. “Ready?” You nodded determinedly, getting into the passenger seat of the van and buckling, him doing the same.
“Alrighty, then,” he cracked a grin. “Time for a road trip.”
After a while of scrolling through your social media accounts you sat back and stretched. Then you flopped back into your seat and looked over to Osamu. “Samu,” you whined in the most obnoxious voice possible, “do you have any food? I’m so hungry.”
Osamu rolled his eyes, jerking a thumb towards the back of the van. “Ya really think I wouldn’t bring food for the trip?”
Immediately, you turned around and began looking behind your seat for food. Sure enough, there was an insulated bag with onigiri. You gasped, bringing the bag into your lap with stars in your eyes. “You brought some?”
You ignored whatever his response was, instead unwrapping one and biting into it. “Mmm,” you moaned, chewing slowly. The nori was still crisp and the rice was fluffy yet still sticky. You closed your eyes to focus on the food. He must have made them right before you got there for them to be this fresh.
“I’m guessing you didn’t eat breakfast, then,” Osamu said, eyes staring ahead at the road.
Your grip on the rice ball tightened before you quickly realized what you were doing. Your apartment didn’t really have much left to eat after you’d finished up the gyoza last night, and even if you’d had food, you weren’t sure if you would’ve been able to keep it down. Butterflies had filled your stomach as you had tried to go to sleep, and they hadn’t really disappeared yet. “No,” you shook your head. “I woke up early in the morning and was tired.”
Osamu hummed and then didn’t say anything else. After another long beat of silence you squirmed in your seat, a little on edge. “Mind if I play some music?” He shook his head at your question and so you took over the AUX, playing some songs that had been stuck in the back of your mind lately. After the music started, any awkwardness immediately dissipated as you sang along and Osamu tapped his thumb on the wheel to the beat of whatever was playing. At one point you had even pointed out his cute habit to which he had denied before doing the same thing twenty minutes later. Giggling, you just looked out the window and didn’t comment on it that time.
After about an hour of songs, Osamu finally spoke again. “You can go back to sleep, if you want. Ya look tired.”
You looked over at him and then nodded, curling into yourself, rubbing your wearied eyes. Sleeping would be a good opportunity since you hadn’t gotten much last night. You leaned against the seatbelt and window and closed your eyes, ignoring the bumps in the road which made your head hit the glass each time. Before you knew it, you were asleep.
After a little less than five hours, you woke up to Osamu driving, now playing the radio instead. You looked outside. Gone were the skyscrapers and bright lights; in their place were rows and rows of empty fields, all blurring past you. "Are we in Hyōgo yet?" you asked, turning back to him.
Osamu gave you a quick glance and then switched his gaze back on the road. It was just the Onigiri Miya van on the stretch, the rest of what you could see of the roadway completely devoid of another vehicle. "Yeah," he replied. "We have about an hour left. I was gonna stop at the next place to stretch, though." He looked over at you again. "Is that alright with you?"
You nodded and then dug out another rice ball from the thermal bag, munching on it as you stared out the windshield. The nori wasn’t crispy anymore but at least the filling was still yummy. "So we're going to stop somewhere first. What's the plan after that?"
Osamu adjusted his grip on the wheel, driving with only one arm. "I was thinking that we could stop by your house, unload your luggage, maybe clean up your space since no one's been there for a while, and then go to do my business in Hyōgo." He paused, then added, "With Kita."
Your heart raced. It was your first day back and you were already going to have to face Kita. You could just stay home, a voice nagged at you. No, you thought, your face filled with grim determination. You could do it.
Almost as if sensing your internal strife, Osamu said, "Y'know, Y/N, I think Captain is just as nervous, if not, more." He continued staring ahead, not looking at you. Now he started tapping his thumb against the wheel again.
But you, your head snapped to look at him. "Really?" you asked, eyeing him skeptically.
Osmau nodded, smiling. "He's barely said a peep in the group chat he's in with me. Although now that I think about it, that's usually how he is." He chuckled. "Unless he's getting in between me and Tsumu."
You sighed, sitting back. Why had you expected Kita to hold anger towards you? Because you chose a career over him? Because you chose success over two of you, the voice in the back of your mind whispered. You ignored it, crossing your arms. You felt bad for thinking he would be anything less than how he always was in your mind (he was always Mr. Perfect), but it also made you feel better knowing he was scared too. No, not scared. Nervous, Osamu had said. Oh, god, how were the two of you going to act when you saw each other?
"Hey, Y/N." You turned to Osamu just as he pulled into the driveway of probably the only gas station within a 50 mile radius. He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "You'll figure it out."
As you followed him out of the van to stretch out your legs, you could only hope that you would figure it out. Preferably before you had to see Kita.
You had, in fact, not figured it all out by the time you and Osamu reached your childhood home. Instead of thinking about your lack of a solution, you resorted to reaching under the dingy welcome mat and pulled out a plastic bag with a key inside. “Still here,” you said cheerfully, showing the dirty bag off to your friend.
Osamu rolled his eyes and waited as you fumbled with the key to the house and then eventually opened the door.
You peered into the dark corridor and slipped off your shoes before stepping onto the hardwood floor. “I called the electricity and water guy,” you muttered, dragging one of the suitcases behind you. You paused and then grabbed the handle, which extended, then let the suitcase’s wheels do the work for you. “Everything should be functional by the end of the day.” When you got to the end of the foyer, you gasped. “What…?”
The inside of the house was, contrary to your belief, not at all covered in a thick layer of dust like you’d expected. Instead, it looked almost exactly the same as when you had moved out from there.
Osamu trailed behind you, taking his cap off and scratching the back of his head. “To be honest, I forgot that this was happening. Everyone here didn’t want to see your house collect dust and fall apart, so they..." He motioned around him, your eyes following.
The tatami mats in the living room and your parents' bedroom were clearly cared for, otherwise there would’ve been the overwhelming scent of dust or mold. You could imagine the diligence it would’ve taken to clean them so regularly. And the furniture— you ran a finger along the top of the kotatsu and then looked at it; nothing. You’d have to move the kotatsu into storage since it wouldn’t make much sense to have it out right now; you only used it in the winter...
You drank in the rest of the house, mentally planning where to place things and what to rearrange to your own liking. "I'll get the other case you brought," Osamu muttered, sidestepping around you to reach the doorway. You barely noticed him leave as you crept to your own childhood bedroom, sliding open the shōji screen door.
…Huh. It didn't look any different from what you last remembered. You walked inside. You had your western-styled bed, which still had the furniture sliders under the legs to protect the tatami mats; the bookshelves along the wall with your favorite books and shōjo manga... You paused at the string of fairy lights strung above your dresser. Clipped onto them were photos from high school: you and Osamu proudly holding a double-tiered cake you'd made in home economics, you and a few of the other Inarizaki boys fooling around after practice, you with your parents in front of the school in your third year. You laughed to yourself while looking at them, recalling the moments in which the pictures were taken; back when Samu's hair was grey and Tsumu didn't know what toner was, back when your only responsibilities were as Y/N the assistant manager and co-class representative of 3-A.
You stared at the end of the string lights, where there was a picture missing. You knew what was supposed to be there, in that gap. You were unsure of where it had gone though, so you searched your entire bedroom, taking out all of the books in your shelves and turning them upside down, removing all of the drawers in your dresser and peeking inside the base. You scoured your belongings for a sign of where that photo could have been, but to no avail.
"You looking for something?" Osamu pushed off of the doorway he'd been leaning on and peered over your shoulder. "I can try to help ya find it."
You shook your head, smiling. "No, it's okay. I lost something but it's not that important." You stood up and dusted yourself off, brushing your hands together. "We have some free time now that I don't have to clean up around here. What should we do?"
Osamu nodded, thinking to himself. "Well, we could go reacquaint you with your neighbors… or we could get to the farm early. It’s,” he checked his phone, “around 3 right now so we would have a couple hours to check out the entire farm. It’s big, so having too much time on our hands wouldn’t be an issue.”
“Uh…” You bit your lip and stared expectantly at Osamu. You make the decision.
He lifted an eyebrow incredulously, then said, “Alright, farm it is.”
You dropped your phone into your lap in disappointment, tempted to just throw it out of the window of Osamu’s van. Kuroo really is kind of useless, huh, you thought, staring out of the window glumly.
The sound of the tires hitting gravel road caught your attention and you looked out the front windshield. You sucked in a breath. You were here. At Kita’s farm. Or rather, you thought, Kita’s house. You had parked in the driveway of his home which overlooked all the fields. They were still somewhat of a muddy brownish color from how far away you were.
“Ready?” Osamu tried to look grim, knowing of your inner turmoil, but his glittering eyes said otherwise.
You exhaled and then nodded. “Yes.”
The two of you didn’t end up getting very far along the fields before Osamu ran into someone he knew, probably someone else working on the rice fields under Kita based on the way he was dressed. He wore a wide-brimmed straw hat and, somehow, long sleeved shirts and pants. Osamu smiled, greeting the man, “Koji.”
His recipient smiled too. “Osamu. How’s business in Tokyo? Still thinking of opening another shop in Osaka?” Koji motioned for him to follow him down the path in between the rice paddies, and he did, already lost in a conversation. You watched as another group of workers came towards the duo, and you heard laughing and cheering as Osamu talked to them.
Well, damn. Osamu had left you behind. You looked around and then checked your phone. You still had basically two hours to kill. “Ugh…” Should you just wait in the van for Osamu? What if Kita saw the van pulled up and approached it, though? You did NOT want to be alone with him, just the two of you. Plus it would be hot waiting in there. You pulled at the front of your t-shirt. At least there was a slight breeze every once in a while when you were outside.
Am I really going to do this? You looked up at the sky and shielded your eyes from the sun. It was already beating down on your shoulders and back. Sighing, you started in the opposite direction of where Osamu and the workers had gone. There seemed to be a lot of property, you thought, admiring the view. Although the rice paddies were still muddy, the view you had from this side of the farmhouse was stunning. In the distance were lines of trees so dense, and mountains even further away, just a faint silhouette smoothed against the sky. You imagined what it would look like when the rice was ready to be harvested, all green and heavy with the fruits of labor.
A few days ago you’d thought absentmindedly that life had been kind to you, Kuroo, and Kenma. But now, looking around the serene landscape and close-knit community of workers, filled with a fresh green newness brought from only the spring, you wondered: maybe the years had been kind of Kita, too.
Behind you, you heard dull rustling, and you turned automatically. You froze, stunned. Your mouth moved and formed words before you could even comprehend what it was you were saying.
“Kita?”

BAD BUDDY – A 10-MINUTE RECIPE WITH TAO KAE NOI
So after watching Pat and Pran munch their way through much Tao Kae Noi crispy seaweed, I went on to try the snack myself and I have to say it was delicious. 😊
I bought rather a bit too much though (I don't snack all that often). But because the TKN reminded me quite a lot of furikake, I decided to try it out on pasta to use up the stash. And came up with this – a 3-ingredient, storecupboard staple lunch ready in 10 minutes:
A 10-minute recipe has no business tasting this good, but it REALLY does – I licked the plate clean. Thanks TKN!
The ingredients are:
Pasta of your choice (I used spaghetti here)
Kewpie mayonnaise (you can try other brands, but I beg you to use Kewpie if you can get it)
Tao Kae Noi (Hot and Spicy Flavor) – or substitute Original Flavor plus dried chilli flakes
Cook the pasta according to the maker's directions (usually 8-9 mins boiling in heavily salted water).
Squirt on and stir in some Kewpie mayo (you need less than you think – about 1-2 teaspoons per portion only, just enough to coat the noodles).
Crumble some Tao Kae Noi Hot and Spicy over, and it's ready to eat. If you like it spicier, sprinkle on additional dried chilli flakes (I do and I did).
This is both satisfying and delicious (With Good From The Sea as it says on the packaging 😊), just as it is. But if you want to round out the meal with veg and protein, and don't mind the extra effort, you can blanch some greens (like bok choy) in the pasta water after the noodles are done, then hard-boil eggs (5-6 minutes) in the same pot after removing the veggies. Splash the greens with soy sauce and Chinese rice wine. Or just toss some coarsely-chopped raw tomatoes into the cooked pasta before sprinkling on the TKN. And/or grill some salmon while the pasta is cooking, which is what I did (just 7 minutes in the oven). Shrimp (or any other good from the sea 😉) would also work well with TKN's seafoody flavor.
I did some rummaging around the Internet after eating, and found similar recipes online (GMTA/FSD I guess). They're a bit more involved, but worth a go if you're adventurous and also have extra TKN to use up: Eric Kim's original Creamy Bucatini With Roasted Seaweed on the Bon Appétit website, the Washington Post version, and Mentaiko Pasta with Cream, Shiso, and Nori. Plenty of others abound.
But there's more to Tao Kae Noi than just a tasty snack or a handy meal hack. It's also a bit of a multicultural marker. For more on that, the write-up's linked here. 😉
