When I think they became friends (if canon already hasn't showed how they became friends)

I’m kinda leaning toward them meeting at volleyball club in Noya’s first year of high school- simple as that, a libero and his ace bonding over their shared interests and becoming a powerful team together 😊 I have to wonder if maybe Noya was drawn to Asahi because he saw a bit of himself in the guy- from what I’ve heard, Noya himself was quite the anxious little guy when he was younger, so I can definitely see him wanting to be the kind of friend he needed back then 🥺 And with Noya’s friendly demeanor and his efforts to include Asahi in conversations and invite him to hang out on weekends, show interest in his other hobbies and nudge him out of his comfort zone and all that, it’s only natural that they’d grow closer and develop the strong bond they have now- I love how despite their age difference, they seem to treat each other as equals and look up to each other, it’s really sweet :’)

3. A random headcanon I have of them

Somehow I ended up with the headcanon that Noya is prone to headaches, and I just love the idea of Asahi being a good comfort to Noya when he’s not feeling well- gives him temple massages, makes sure he’s getting enough water to drink and all that :’) And one time, there was some construction taking place close to where Noya lives, and it was giving him headaches and making them harder to get rid of, so sometimes Asahi would let Noya stay over at his place where it was quieter and rest until he felt better- maybe he even cuddled with Noya until he fell asleep :’) I love the idea of Noya learning that cuddling has scientifically proven health benefits, and just latching onto that fact and constantly using it as an excuse because the dude LOVES him some cuddles XD

5. A scene I wish we had of them

…tfw I don’t know all their scenes yet XD But judging from these questions, I’m guessing canon hasn’t shown how they met, so I’d love to see that… but other than that? I love me a good hug scene, so I’ll go with that XD if they had a canon hug scene i probably would’ve seen dozens of redraws already lol

I just wanna see Noya make a running start and jump up to hug his buddy, and Asahi is standing there with his arms wrapped around Noya while his tiny little legs dangle off the ground XD That’d be so cute, lol

13. What I think would have happened if they never met

From what I’ve heard, they don’t seem to have *quite* as much of a deep fated connection as some other pairs in Haikyuu? Like, they’re in each other’s lives and they care a lot about each other but they’re not completely floundering on their own either :’D So I guess their friendship is kind of like that one post about double chocolate chip cookies- it may not be necessary for them to exist, but I sure wouldn’t want to live in a world without them! 😊💕💕 I suppose they’d be fine, but their lives just wouldn’t be as enriched as they could be? I mean, Noya does have other good buddies that he has a lot of fun with, but like… since he had more anxiety when he was younger, maybe Asahi would get him in a way that others might not, and if they’d never met, Noya might not have that connection with someone he could relate to in his life 😔 Same with Asahi- while he has other good friends in the volleyball club too, Noya seems to be the one he clicks with the most :’) And without him around, maybe it would’ve taken a bit longer for Asahi to come back to volleyball club- I just love how the reason Noya so adamantly refused to play without Asahi is because he didn’t want the guy thinking they could get by without him 🥺 It warms my heart how well Noya understands Asahi and how supportive he is of him!! Always pushing him to do his best because he knows he has it in him!! I’m just really glad they DID meet, because they have such a wonderful friendship and they make each other’s lives brighter… they are a package deal your honor 💛

FAVORITE THING ABOUT THEM

Probably how reliable he is in general. I feel like he’s probably the voice that is the most loyal to Quiet alongside Hero. He just really doesn’t seem like the type of character to have any hidden agenda underneath his actions. He’s just, when he thinks of something, he’d just do it instinctively. I love how he just focuses on the now and what’s happening around him, and doesn’t rely on what he sees only. He’s a really simple guy and all he really wants is safety. And I really like that about him. (The contrast between him and Oppy is glaring here)

And also despite the fact that instinct is a big part that makes him “him”, he’s not completely feral and still holds that humanity inside of him. I think he’s pretty darn neat.

Gotta say Hunted and Witch. Hunted pairs well with many other voices and vessels, but the thought of two semi-feral characters interacting with each other is kind of adorable to me. Just. Similar brain wave signals. Vrrrrrrrr. Y’know.

Witch would just sniff Hunted and be like “hmmm he doesn’t smell like a liar to me” and she would just be chilling with him with half an eye closed and half of it open. Just in case. And Hunted just sees her as someone who’s gotten hurt. And had to fight back like a scared animal. So I think he would empathise with her. Idk.

Stubborn and Hunted is a good one too. I could imagine Stubborn and Hunted just sparring with each other whenever they could. The battle always ends in a stalemate though, since Hunted just dodges Stubborn’s attacks most of the time. And by the time Hunted is tired dodging Stubborn is tired as well. But knowing Stubborn he would try to throw a punch at him anyway. And then failing cause they have bodies now. Stubborn takes it as a challenge and is thrilled to see what other stuff Hunted could do. Unstoppable force vs Immovable object.

And the mental thought of Stubborn throwing Hunted like a Pokeball and be like “Hunted I choose you” is just so funny to me. And. Just. Hunted riding on Stubborn’s shoulder. So cute.

RANDOM HEADCANON

He would sometimes bite the other voices to show affection. If he is feeling really bite-y that day he would just find something to chew on just so he won’t accidentally hurt the others.

Also, the current smaller form you see of him is not his full form. That’s just him holding back his more feral side, and hence why he looks so tiny. He’s way taller and stronger than he looks.

A more antsy head canon I’ve got for him is that a part of him always have this urge to consume the other voices since they are technically parts of the same guy. He feels really guilty about feeling this way. When that feeling is too strong he would lock himself away from the flock until it passes.

UNPOPULAR OPINION

(This is becoming less of an unpopular opinion and more of a ramble as I’m writing this, but I’m just gonna keep this here because I think this is pretty interesting)

I feel like he would take an integral role in helping the other voices in fighting against their nature, since he is so used to doing that himself. Many of the fics I’ve read where the voices are starting to become more complex and more than their nature often doesn’t mention Hunted at all. He would definitely take a role in helping the voices manage their own urges in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone, knowing how he empathises with Den despite everything she has done to them.

He shines the most when he is paired with Oppy regarding this. Oppy embraces his own nature, and often times to his own detriment. Hunted wouldn’t trust him, but he would still protect and look after him anyway since he is still a part of the flock. If Oppy ever shows an ounce of genuine interest in fighting against his urge to betray people for his own benefit, Hunted would be one of the first ones to help and encourage him.

who he is as a person — his family background, his beliefs, and who he ultimately chooses to be — is so endlessly interesting to me. being a child of both the Erdtree and the Moon, growing up idolizing the Erdtree’s champions like his father and Godfrey, but being a talented sorcerer in his own right like his mother, was he conflicted when Radagon betrayed Rennala? did he ever come to resent his father, both for breaking his mother’s heart and for replacing his greatest idol, Godfrey? there’s something so significant to me about Radagon despising his red hair, and Radahn embracing that same hair he inherited as the mark of a champion. did this affect his relationship with Radagon? on the other hand, did he know that challenging the stars was also halting his Carian family’s fate? did he care? there’s such a fascinating back-and-forth between Radahn and both sides of his family!

• least favorite thing about them

his writing in the dlc… will never get over how botched it feels. and I’m not talking about the actual plot points, I’m talking about how those plot points were revealed to us in the story! the reason why everyone felt like him showing up was an asspull plot twist was because there’s no hint whatsoever in the base game that Miquella and Radahn ever had a relationship at all. as a result, I think the writers had to speedrun a Radahn-Miquella reveal plotline with Freyja and Ansbach, while cramming references to Radahn into the dlc (like the Red Bear npc, and his relationship to Gaius and Messmer) to make him seem less out of nowhere… but to me it just comes across as a rushed plotline with extremely clumsy foreshadowing. I guess they didn’t know they would get to make a dlc when they made the game so they didn’t include anything about him and Miquella in the base game so there wouldn’t be random plot threads that go nowhere, or they originally planned something slightly different that didn’t pan out so they had to rework it but were only able to do so in the dlc. either way extremely disappointing. also his promised consort remembrance weapons are the laziest excuse for a remembrance of all time they’re just the starscourge greatswords again but different. is this some kind of sick joke

I think the most crucial thing to note is that Radahn has always made idolizing Godfrey his entire personality, and Godfrey was literally banished… the Order is very different now from what it once was!

Prisoner in general just feels like a very natural progression of the Chapter 1 princess, and Skeptic just adds to that by voicing all of the player's doubts and questions in that chapter

least favorite thing about them: Echoing your complaint about the Leaving with the Head outcome, there was no reason to change Skeptic's lines then!! It was such a nice character moment for him, and really highlighted how, despite everything, he wants to trust in the princess. A lot of people already decided to leave the head there even with that dialogue before, there was no reason to change Skeptic's reaction!! (If anything, Hero should be the one certain she's just dead while Skeptic still doubts it; that'd make the choice between leaving it there or not all the more compelling, instead of ot feeling like the game is pushing you in one specific direction)

unpopular opinion: we discussed it on discord before, but Skeptic really isn't as 'real world logic'-bound as people often see him. We get an ending where we survive through seemingly decades without ever starving with him, after all, while Paranoid (the more 'out there theories' one) makes us starve in the Nightmare-Wraith lead up. It's just that Skeptic needs some proof/hint that things aren't as clear-cut as they seem, and he'll immediately jump onto it to theorize all kinds of possibilities. He's the one who says "Maybe it was never the end of the world, after all. Just the end of His." when everything fades away and Shifty takes the vessel, after all. I can see him easily accepting the world is shaped by perspective once clear evidence is shown for it (aka. Skeptic would totally try to believe the Princess out of divinity in Apotheosis if we could get him there).

I just kinda don't really like to ship Any of the Goofs with the Canon Humans from Each of their Villain of the Week Episodes (especially if it's Etno with Zibouya), since I'm mainly more on "Shipping The Main Characters with Each Other" Camp Side rather than "Shipping The Main Characters with Their Enemies" Side. Plus, I mainly prefer the idea of Bolok to be Ship with Any Fan-OC considering that this Fandom needs to bring back some OC/Canon Shipping as Bolok would no doubt be the Perfect Target for a New One. Deal With It.

Also, yeah, I apparently found out that someone else from back then shipped Etno with Ambre-Lou WAAAAAAAAAAY Long before this Fandom revived. I highly refused to give that a Ship Name of its Own Because Ew, DO NOT WANT! 🤢

Tbh, aside from Shipping the Goofs with Each Other, I also adore Many OC/Canon Ships around Any of Them. Doesn't really matter as long as Everyone has their own Ships (I do not regret being a Mulitshipper).

Because I've been meaning to plan to create more OCs around in this Fandom, My Friend already did had in mind for her own Love Interest for Ambre-Lou like Me, so hopefully this Fandom could finally give Her a Chance to Shine More after Bolok.

Granted, I wish I could explain more on The Other Side Characters for some More Crack Ship ideas (that is, if I were to use the Other Versions), but that's all I have for now for the first one.

favorite thing about them

tbh i was pretty neutral on him until i started reading vulgate, he's so much more fleshed out and layered there (i started reading arthuriana with le morte d'arthur and he does fuck all there lol)

i think he's an incredibly compelling character, especially with his interpersonal relationships. there's just something about gawain having a younger brother named essentially not gawain and being a huge contrast to him, and i also really like his relationship with mordred in vulgate as an older brother who raised him. he's the kind of character who's wedged in between characters that are larger than him (i'm sorry agravaine but you're related to gawain, mordred, and arthur and being someone who's related to them is kinda your whole thing) and that in itself is interesting. especially considering that he dies during the fall of camelot, arthur mourns his death

rereading this for this post put a tears in my eyes IT KILLS MEEEEEE. AGRAVAINE...... but yes tl;dr my favorite thing about him is being related to gawain/arthur/mordred and him dying. its sooo so so fun (not for them but its fun for ME)

tbh, i find him to be severely underutilized (and if not, completely done dirty) i hate the characterization in which he's just mordred's lackey and there to pretty much die to lancelot and nothing else.

i think it would be way more impactful if he was fleshed out as a legit character. adds to the tragedy that he was somebody the audience actually cares for and not just some NPC lancelot murders lol.

also, really dislike how prose tristan stuff writes him (and the orkney brothers in general) where he's an irredeemable villain but i digress. it doesn't help that i don't care for the orkney/wales blood feud. it's never done in a way that resonates with me.

also the character assassination TH White has done to agravaine PISSES ME OFFFFFFFF ALL THE SHITTY AGRAVAINES IN MODERN ARTHURIANA IS HIS FAULT I SWEAR. aka making him morgause's killer throwing in some added incest in which he lusts for her. GROSS !!!! agravaine get behind me!!!!!

tbh i could put anything that he says in mordred, a tragedy by henry newbolt but i really love this one in particular. talking about their brothers and that they're on mordred's side.... it brings a tear to my eye i love the orkneys so much. they're BROTHERS !!!!!!!!

obviously him and his brothers! gawain and agravaine is great. so is mordred and agravaine. among his brothers those two i think he has the most interesting dynamic with. this post is already stupidly long and i could make an entire post in general about agravaine's relationship with his brothers, so i think i'll focus on agravaine and mordred.

for one, i love agravaine and mordred in BBC Legend of King Arthur 1979. the orkney brothers in general are great in it (minus gaheris bc he isn't there RIP) but i adore how it expounds on his dynamic with mordred AND his aunt morgan. mordred and morgan are both schemers with plots against arthur and guinevere, morgan wanting revenge on her father gorlois' death and mordred having (in later episodes) vying for the throne, agravaine on the other hand is a lot more sincere and earnest. he had no ulterior motives and his undoing was his honesty. he loved his uncle arthur, and he meant well when he wanted to report guinevere and lancelot's affair to him, because he saw it as a betrayal on arthur, not an opportunity (like morgan and mordred). those two had to "corrupt" him in some way, which what happens during the guinevere apple murder trial because mordred and morgan essentially make agravaine an unwilling accomplice. its soooo so fascinating i highly recommend that show.

second, i'd love to talk about agravaine and mordred in henry newbolt's play: mordred, a tragedy 1895. genuinely has got to be one of my if not THE favorite retelling i've ever read. if anyone reading this hasn't, i'd just urge you to read it bc it's just that good. mordred is the main character as the title says, and agravaine is one of the main secondary characters, he takes on an almost paternal/guiding figure to a young yet incredibly idealistic, passionate mordred and acts as his voice of reason.

JAW DROP..... LIKE THIS SCENE WAS CRAZY. the earlier conversation where it was just them is top notch, and this kind of dynamic between agravaine and mordred is something i'd love to see more often.

BIG fan of agravaine essentially being the logical/reasonable one between his brothers. i've compared him to dinadan because i think they're similar characters (except obviously agravaine isn't a jester/bard like he is) but they function similarly, in my opinion.

AGRAVAINE AND LAUREL 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 i love them so so soso much it drives me insane. they're so perfect. i don't care that laurel is basically just a name in malory, i also love the HC that she's his lady love who (alongside a young mordred) takes care of him when he was suffering from a curse in vulgate.

random headcanon

my favorite headcanon is that he's got some sort of facial scarring and he's blind in one eye. for me personally it's no reason just vibes, in my project he's got some kinda magic sigil under his eye (he can't see through it though obviously)

and like, obviously as a disability it affects how he fights. one of my favorite things about him in vulgate is comparing how he navigates battle and combat in comparison to his brother gawain, he's a lot more careful and discerning in his encounters rather than just going berserker mode. you can see this in agravaine vs druas the cruel, i think

since i made him blind in one eye, he knows his blind spot and his weaknesses. (in my lore he's referred to as sir agravaine the one eyed swordsman for this reason) and he's a lot more calculating and cunning in his fighting style, more relying on wits + terrain (funny the guy with one eye is more observant than most people)

unpopular opinion

nothing i haven't said earlier. for whatever reason he has this reputation for being a crazy misogynist (likely thanks to Fate/grand order because of his infamous over meme'd to the oblivion line about hating women) and also again because of T.H White's depiction of him. and whatever the hell BBC Merlin did to him.

i just really hate that kind of depiction of him and honestly? there's worse characters. breuse sans pite's whole thing is being a rapist, and geraint/erec spends the entire time in his respective romances brutalizing his wife enid.

free my man agravaine he doesn't deserve this slander 😭or at the very least, i would like to have more nuanced portrayals of him for variety.
