"connor please, you're giving ME a headache and it's only seven in the morning," his friend, jake, spoke as his hands covered his face, "wait, shut up, who is that?" connor asked, seeing you with a few friends.
jake sighed, "that's ( your name )," he spoke softly, "she's friends with everyone here. some like her, some can't stand her. it all depends on how she feels with you." you were schools resident 'popular' girl and had a bit of a following among your class.
"i'm gonna go talk to her," connor said. his friends eyes widened, "connor no!" jake screamed, grabbing his friend and pulling him back, "she's a complete bitch, don't do it!" jake exclaimed as he could tell that everything he was saying was going over connor's head.
you fixed the newspaper that had superboy's face plastered on the cover, "i just think that superboy could beat robin if i'm being honest. PLUS he's attractive because you can actually see his face," the day old conversation between you and your friends about who was the better sidekick struck up again and anyone who knew you knew how much you adored superboy.
"hey ladies," you turned to look at the boy, confused on who he was as you had never seen him around school. you gave him a small smile, "uh, hi?" you asked, "do i know you?"
the boy who approached you was wearing sunglasses which threw you off considering your school didn't allow anyone to wear them inside the building. you looked to his other friend, recognizing him as someone you had in your Calc class.
"just wanted to introduce myself, i'm connor," he said, giving you a sly smirk. you shook his hand, half awkwardly, "please i'm ( your name )," you replied as you saw the way connor gave jake a wink, "is there something you wanted or?" you asked again, not knowing why he was still here.
"no, just wanted to say hi to my future girlfriend," you let out a laugh, catching everyone off guard, "please, as if," you replied as you grabbed your friends and walked away, kind of taken back by the new boy.
"he was kinda cute," one of your friends said as you rolled your eyes, "uh, not really? kinda weird if you ask me," you replied, looking down at the newspaper, "well, i'm going to class, see ya," you said, walked towards your AP Lit class.
you sat down in the front, immediately talking to the friends you had in the class. it wasn't even five minutes later when connor entered the class, immediately smirking when he saw you. you growled, instantly annoyed at his expression.
"ah, so you've met the resident new boy?" you nodded as your friend giggled, "he's really nice. made more than a friends already," she said as you shrugged, "okay and? he had a lot of nerve coming up to me and telling me i'd be his future girlfriend," you replied.
she let out a belting laugh, "yeah, he told meghan from fifth period the same thing," you saw connor walking up to your desk and before he could make himself comfortable next to you, you instantly put your leg on the chair, "don't even think about it," you said, not even looking at him, "the desk in the back is available though," you smirked as you watched your teacher roll her eyes at your attitude.
connor bent down to your level, "don't gotta be so hostile, sweetheart, i know you like me," he whispered before getting up and leaving.
your friend, looked at you, laughing at disbelief at both of your attitudes. you rolled your eyes, trying to pay attention to the discussion as you could feel connor's eyes on you almost the entire time.
+
throughout the weeks and going into months, your relationship with connor didn't change. he arguably became the biggest pain your ass from the beginning of the day until the final bell rang. he managed to befriend a few of your friends which meant that you were around him at times.
you sipped your coffee as you were reading the newest article on superboy, "ah, ah, ah, what do we have here?" connor asked, taking the magazine from your hand, "superboy fan, huh?" he scanned the cover, a smug smirk coming onto his face as you snatched the magazine back.
"yeah, someone who's actually useful in life," you replied as he walked with you to your locker. he had never saw the inside of it and taken back by the amount of photos you had....of him, "aww, don't be that way, sweetheart! maybe one day superboy will actually give you a chance," he joked.
your annoyance instantly shot up as you slammed your locker and walking away, "see ya later sweetie!" he screamed. you stopped in the middle of the hall and flicked him off, "the next time i'll see you, it'll be in hell!" you yelled, storming off to class.
you walked into class, sitting down as your friend, henry, walked up to you, "hey babe," he said, a warm feeling crossing your face at the term of endearment, "hey henry, what're you up to?" you asked, seeing him looking at you, a bit nervously now.
"i was wondering if you were free-," before henry could say anything else, connor walked up behind him and tapping him on the shoulder. he had heard the conversation between the two of you and knew exactly where it was heading, "uh, she's not interested, better luck next time," connor stated, surprising henry with his sudden angry attitude.
henry knowing he didn't want to risk the chance of getting his ass kicked walked away from the conversation as you stared at connor with rage in your eyes, "what do you want?" you seethed as you saw connor's smirk playing on his face, "you weren't actually entertaining him, were you?" he asked in disbelief, "i literally hate you with every ounce of my being," you blurted, finally sick of connor's attitude.
his mouth hung open as you got up from the desk, "do me a favor and PLEASE leave me alone, that's all i ask," you stated as you walked out of class and deciding to ditch for the rest of the day.
"told you she was gonna blow up," jake informed as he sat down in his seat, connor still standing in place, taking in everything you had said. he knew he was being a bit of an ass but he didn't know you were that angry with him.
connor knew he had to make this up. he genuinely did like you and he didn't want to ruin his chances with you because of his shitty attitude. throughout the class period, he picked his brain for ideas until sirens went off in his head.
SUPERBOY.
he knew you were practically in love with his alter ego and he knew he could use superboy as a way to persuade you into giving him another chance. that is if he played his cards right.
+
you reluctantly showed up the next day, trying to avoid connor as best as you could. you were talking with a few friends, gossiping about the fight that superboy and robin had against a few low level villains in metropolis last night.
"hey, look at connor," jake whispered, seeing his friend practically beat up. you were taken back by his appearance as he had a few bruises on his arms and legs, "are you okay?" jake asked connor.
connor shook his head slowly, his body still recovering from the night before, "what were yall talking about?" he asked, trying to redirect the conversation. everyone looked to you, "someone was gushing about superboy, so please, if you'd continue," meghan said playfully.
"oh shut up, like you don't have robin posters all over your room," you retorted as you watched connor struggling to stay upright, "all i'm saying is that superboy remains the best sidekick there is. did you see the way he walked out of that fight scratchless and look at robin, he nearly died," you continued.
meghan instantly retorted as you noticed how eerily silent connor had became. you turned over to him, about to say something sarcastic towards him until he flopped on top of you, passing out completely. you looked down at him, "connor?" you whispered, "hey connor, wake up," you whispered, shaking him a bit.
"take him to the nurse!" jake yelled at you as you grabbed connor by the arm and pulling him against you, "fuck off, he's heavy as hell," you breathed, trying to steady his weight against you before walking slowly towards the nurse.
you made the walk to the nurse but by the time you made it, connor had woken up, "don't take me to the nurse, please," he whispered, "what are you talking about?" you exclaimed, "you clearly aren't okay and you don't look okay either," you added on.
he steered the two of you to the family bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit, "clean me up here, i really don't want to be questioned right now," he said, nothing cocky or playful in his voice. you sat him on the toilet, bending down to clean his face first, "hey, is everything okay....you know at home?" you asked.
he laughed, shaking his head, "these injuries aren't from my guardians if that's what you're wondering. i kinda got into a fight last night," you stared at him confused, "did you lose or something? these injuries look horrible," you replied.
"course i did, just took a nasty beating before i won," he said as he flinched at the rubbing alcohol hitting his arm. you muttered a sorry as you put a band-aid on a few of his cuts, "listen, i wanted to say sorry for acting like a prick," connor muttered a few minutes later.
you were taken back by his apology, "i knew i was being an ass but please don't take this as me joking but you're actually the best thing that's happened to me since i transferred," you remained silent, not knowing to respond as you put the last band-aid on his knee.
"and if i could have a second chance, that would be super dope, ya know?" he tried to say without sounding nervous, "you better not be joking, kent," you threatened, putting your finger on his chest and shoving him a bit.
connor flinched back in pain as you muttered a sorry, "i'm not joking, i'd really like to take you out for coffee sometime," he asked as he grabbed your hand and gave it a kiss. you agreed as you responded with a kiss on his cheek, "also, i had this lying around my room and figured you'd like it more than i would," he dug into his backpack and gave you a magazine.
your eyes widen seeing what it was. it was the magazine that superboy first appeared in and you had analyzed a few signatures of his to know that it was his signature on the front, "did superboy sign this?" you practically tried to contain your excitement as you ran your finger over the sharpie.
connor nodded, "i met him one time after he saved a few people in metropolis last year and got him to sign the magazine. i figured since you like hm a lot more than i do, you'd take care of it better than i would," overwhelmed with excitement, you grabbed connor by the neck and kissed him.
connor was taken back by the sudden kiss but awkwardly responded with another kiss as you held the magazine close to your chest, "i can't thank you enough for this connor," you whispered, your lips still on his a bit. he chuckled, "just meet me at the coffee shop near the school and that'll suffice," he replied, giving you another kiss before slowly getting up.
"now lets get to our second period before we get marked truant again," he grabbed your hand and held it as softly as possible, "you know how much shit our friends are gonna give us, right?" you said, laughing a bit. connor nodded, "nothing we can't handle," he replied as he squeezed your hand in reassurance.

The Wedding // Draco Malfoy x Reader
I haven't been getting requests but I thought this was SUPER cute.
Warnings - EXTREME FLUFF
Summary - Reader takes Draco to her sisters wedding
Word Count - 1.5k
Tumblr media
Y/n knew how stressed Draco was, and he had every reason to be.
But she wasn't going to let her boyfriend wallow in resentment of his life during his last year at Hogwarts.
"Do you wanna be my plus one to my sister and her fiancee's wedding?" They were just sitting casually on the couch of the Slytherin Common Room. He was flipping through a book, as was she. He stopped reading the page he was on, placing a finger to keep his place, staring up at her with a brow quirked.
"A wedding?" He looked put off by the idea, immediately making the girl regret herself.
"I'm sorry, I know everything you're dealing with right now. I just figured-"
"I think that's a wonderful idea." He replied casually, looking back down at his book and continuing to soak in the story. She smiled with contentment, planning to keep his mind off of everything negative.
So the next few days they planned their outfits, how to get there, and most importantly, how to introduce him to her parents.
Now, they had been dating for 5 months, but it was a bit hard to introduce people when you are in school.
And there's a potential raging war. But that was besides the point now.
So they came up with the plan, the outfits, and the way to get there. Utilizing their new allowance to use magic outside of school, they decided they would apparate there. Y/n would wear a muted pink plain dress and Draco would wear a white button down with a tie that matched her dress.
They had to do a bit of searching for that.
And now here they were, getting dressed in her dorm room (which was empty because everyone was currently on a trip to Hogsmeade). Draco fiddled with his tie, not wanting to admit he had no idea how to tie it. He was always fortunate enough that his mom had done it for him.
That's why he wore a *bow* tie to the Yule Ball years ago.
"Do you need help darling?" She asked, a smirk sliding onto her lips. His face blushed furiously, much brighter than the pink of his tie.
"Maybe." He slumped down to get level with her, their faces inches from eachother. She knew he was silently asking for a kiss, but she teased. She brought him one inch closer by his untidy tie, knotting it for him all the while he stared at my face.
"Do you need something Mr. Malfoy?" She asked with a giggle, tightening the knot. Y/n looked up slowly, making eye contact with those icey eyes. He glared at her playfully, lightly grabbing the back of her neck and bringing his love in for a kiss. He nudged his nose into hers, causing her to deepen the kiss a bit and, much to her dismay, he pulled away.
"We should probably go before we get carried away." He stood to his regular height, centering the tie on his shirt. She groaned and reluctantly gave him her hand and with a whip of her wand, they were in the bedroom of her home.
He tried to peer around the room but she had already yanked him away from her things and into a hallway.
"My parents are probably downstairs. Are you ready?" She asked, holding tightly to his hands. He gave a slight nod and motioned her to walk. They clanked down the stairs next to eachother, immediately happening upon Mr. and Mrs. Y/l/n.
"Hello sweety!" Y/n slid her hand from Dracos to hug her mother. "And you must be Draco." She hugged him as well, much to his surprise.
*And to be honest the boy loved a good warm hug. Merlin know he doesn't get a lot these days...*
"You can call me Y/m/n. And this is Y/d/n." She elbowed the man who stood straight. He was quite obviously looking him up and down with judging eyes. Draco slowly brought his hand up to shake.
"It's nice to meet you sir, thank you for allowing me to come to such an event." The boys manners must have surprised him, judging by the look on his face. His hand gripped Dracos firmly with an approving smile.
"I hope you're taking good care of my Y/n."
"I think shes very capable of taking care of herself." Draco replied with a smile and nod.
"I like this one." Her father said pointedly.
"Me too." Y/n laughed, she looped her arm with Dracos and leant her head on his arm. "I take it we are leaving soon, to the venue?"
You see, Y/n's sister was quite, what do you call it.
Extra.
Her fiancee was a very simple man. He wanted to have the wedding in his backyard, very small wedding, intimate. But her sister insisted it be in a big garden of flowers. Of course he is head over heels for the woman so he agreed.
Y/n did agree with the decision of course, because along with being extra, her sister was sentimental.
The flowers that they were to be married within were a mixture of all the flowers in the very first bouquet that he had ever bought her. He thought it was the most beautiful idea.
And so did everyone else.
"Yes, I take it you two are apparating as well?"
"Yes sir." And off they were to the wedding.
It really was by accident that Y/n matched some of the flowers, particularly the Pink Asiatic Lillies. These were the biggest flowers of the bunch.
While walking to take a seat, a man holding quite the large bouquet of all the displayed flowers stopped them.
"You must take a flower to put on you." He insisted with a smile. His hands held out the lillies to the couple. They took them gratefully and began walking to their seats, which they decided they would sit in the first row. On the side of her sister.
"Here, let me place it." Draco said, taking the flower from her hands. He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, putting the lilly in its place. She smiled and took his, putting it in the same place as hers.
The first thing that went through his head was, *Don't only girls usually put flowers behind their ear?*
But was replaced by a much stronger and positive thought. *I am so in love with this girl.*
So he left it there, making them match. He took it as a silent way to let everyone know that she was his, and he was quite giddy at the thought of that.
After so long everyone had packed into the venue. Her sisters soon to be was stood up at the alter, waiting for his bride. And he shed a tear when he saw her.
They went through their incredibly sappy vows and received many laughs from parts of it. Then came the only part Y/n knew the words to.
Her head was leaned on Dracos shoulder and she poked his side, causing him to look down at her.
"Do you, Christopher take Pheobe as your lawfully wedded wife." Draco looked into her eyes with a smirk.
'I do.' He mouthed to her.
"And do you, Peobe, take Christopher as your lawfully wedded husband."
'I do.' Y/n mouthed to him.
"You may now kiss the bride." The teens made kissy faces at eachother, trying to suppress a laugh as the crowd cheered for them.
Then it was Y/ns favorite part of weddings, the reception.
"So why do you like receptions so much?" Her boyfriend asked.
"Food." She answered simply, dragging him to the assorted fruits.
They had sat for a while, eating fruit and people watching. Y/n pointed out her favorite family members and told him funny stories. She loved making him laugh, she didn't think she could love someone's laugh so much. She had taken him to meet her sister, which went expectantly well. She complimented his hair and it made him blush.
But as the night ended, the DJ announced that the last slow song would be played. So Draco grabbed her hand and pulled her away from her fruit.
"You know I don't know how to dance, did you see me with George at the Yule Ball 4th year?" She recalled the memory of tripping over his *and* her own feet throughout the night. (But George was not judgemental, so there wasn't much of a problem.)
"Just follow my lead, it's okay if you trip over me, I can hold you up." He wrapped his arms around her waist lazily and she brought her arms around his neck. "See, nothing fancy, just hugging with a little bit of movement." He laughed into her neck, kissing her there.
"This was such a good day." She whispered into his chest. He could tell she was smiling like an idiot, because he was too.
"I love you." He said so quietly that she could barely hear him, but she did. And it gave her chills. She had dreamed that someone would tell her they loved her while slow dancing, and Draco seemed to be in every one of those dreams.
Crazy what can come true when you wish enough for it.
"I love you too."

you say you hate me

ONE
You knew you ran the risk of running into him when you moved from St. Louis to Calgary. But you couldn’t pass up the job opportunity you were given, even if it meant you were looking over your shoulder as if to avoid running into him.
But after three months of living in Calgary you hadn’t seen him, so you were certain you were in the clear. You reasoned that he would’ve popped up sooner, you followed each other on Instagram and have each other added on Snapchat, so you knew that he knew you were in Calgary. You pushed him to the back of your mind, though, not wanting him to take up any more residence in your mind than he already did. And after a while you figured you were safe from his presence and any headaches that seemed to follow him around.
So imagine your surprise when he shows up while you’re in the middle of a date.
Chris is a nice guy. It’s your third date, and the bar he’s taken you to is a little more on the casual side, but the Edmonton vs. Canucks game was on the television above the bar and you knew he was a big hockey guy.
Clearly, you had a type.
“So, I think my boss is going to give me a big project, which would be a huge step in the right direction for the promotion I—” You were gushing about the news you had received earlier in the day, but you were unable to finish your thought as Chris yelled.
“Oh, fuck off, Mcdavid! You should have scored that.”
After realizing that he wasn’t talking about your ability to buy a goal or calling you McDavid, you learned two things about the man sitting across from you. One, he hadn’t been listening to a single word you were saying and you could count on the hockey game being more interesting to him than anything you could have said. You should have known, anyways, on your first date he spent five whole minutes talking about how the Oilers were his favorite team after you mentioned you grew up in St. Louis. And two, he was that kind of hockey fan. The kind that tore down their team’s top players over any little screw-up. The kind that made your skin crawl after having grown up with the sport.
“It was a rookie mistake.” Chris’ attention turned to you since it was a T.V. timeout and you blinked at him for a moment, wondering just how your night took a downturn so quickly. The bar was so low, and he managed to limbo under it.
“McDavid. Rookie mistake?” You blanched, propping your chin on your hand as you waited to see what kind of bullshit excuse he funneled at you. He stuttered over his words, and you were about to interject with a very well laid out explanation about how players were people and able to make mistakes without having their skill questioned. Plus, it was McDavid.
But then a hand landed casually on your shoulder, and your first instinct was to turn and face whoever decided it was a good idea to randomly touch with a scowl. Your frown only deepened when you spotted who it was, completely ignoring the choked noise Chris made.
Of course he had to show up on the one night you were on a date.
“Couldn’t hide from me forever.” Matt drawled easily, removing his hand from you and leaning against the edge of the tall table you were sitting at. You rolled your eyes, not at all surprised at the fact that he decided to start the first actual conversation you’ve had with him in weeks with a tease.
“I’ll try harder next time.” You stated dryly, taking a sip of your nearly empty drink and avoiding the gaze of both men around you. Well, Chris was too busy eyeing Matthew and puffing out his chest as if he was trying to assert his dominance. Please.
You didn’t get the appeal of Matthew. Sure, he was attractive and pretty good at hockey, not that you’d ever admit that to anyone, but he was a pest. He grew up next door to you, which meant the better part of your childhood was spent at the mercy of Matt’s teasing. You adored the rest of his family, you had a four-hundred and thirty-six day Snapchat streak with Taryn, a number seven Senators jersey hanging up in your closest, Chantal’s number was saved as ‘mama tkachuk’ in your phone, and you had once called Keith in a panic when you were sixteen and got a flat tire and your parents weren’t answering.
Matt had laughed at you when you stumbled walking across the stage at graduation.
You were not his biggest fan.
“Hot date?” Matt questioned, not even looking over to Chris who nodded the moment the words entered the air. You winced at the question, because you were technically on a date, but you weren’t exactly feeling it, especially after what had just transpired. But you would marry Chris on the spot if it meant annoying Matt.
“I’ll see you later.” You spoke through gritted teeth, plastering on a forced and obviously fake smile. Matt grinned at you, his mischievous look that you had seen a thousand times growing up that warned you that he was going to do something to get under your skin made warning alarms flash in your mind.
Your suspicions were proven correct when he reached a hand up to ruffle your hair before slipping back into the crowd. You pouted, glaring at his back until you couldn’t see his mop of curls anymore and turned to face Chris again. Your date was looking at you with an annoyed expression, one that was surely mirrored on your face but the only difference was his look was directed at you and yours was at Matthew for showing up out of nowhere.
“Are you okay—?” You barely got the question out before Chris was interrupting you. Again.
“You can’t talk to him if we’re going to see each other.” He stated, as if it was that easy.
It wasn’t as if you wanted to hang out with Matt, not since you hit middle school, but it would be a cold day in hell before some guy told you who you could and could not talk to.
“We’re neighbors, nothing will ever be going on there but our families are good friends. I literally have to talk to him whenever I go home.” You weren’t sure why you were explaining this to him, maybe a part of you wanted to see if he’d bactrack and apologize, even if the relationship was damaged beyond repair. Those hopes were squashed the moment he spoke next.
“Then I’m out.” And he was standing up, barely giving you a second look before he was headed towards the door.
It was pettiness that had you crossing the bar in search of the one person that you couldn’t stand to be around for an extended period of time. You had seen a whole new side of Chris in a matter of five minutes and a small part of you was glad that Matt interrupted and brought it out. Emphasis on small, though.
“You owe me a drink.” You nudged Matt’s shoulder, sliding in next to him at the bar. You didn’t care that you were interrupting his conversation with one of his teammates, you had just been dumped by the guy you’d been somewhat seeing for a few weeks because he couldn’t handle the idea of you knowing a NHL player. “Scared my date away because he didn’t like the fact that I talk to you.”
“I feel like I did you a favor, if he really is that insecure. We don’t even like each other.” He had waved down the bartender with a chuckle, ordering you a beer like the one he had clutched in his hand. It was seconds before the cool glass was set in front of you. Perks of being a hotshot hero in Calgary, you assumed.
“I’ll drink to that.” You clinked your bottle against his, taking a generous sip as Matt watched with an amused grin. He was leaning against the counter, his back now fully turned on his teammates. Clearly, he wasn’t planning on letting you finish your drink in peace.
“Mom told me you got your dream job, so tell me about it.”
“Like you care.” You rolled your eyes with a scoff. You were feeling especially bitter, and you were taking it out on Matt. To be fair, he was taking it all in stride, but you knew he was biding his time until he could make a joke.
“Try me.” Matt wasn’t a bad guy. Annoying, sure. A pain in your ass? Since the day you met. But you knew him better than most—begrudgingly, of course—and you could tell he was genuinely curious. He probably had plans to tease you about it later, you would put money on the fact, but with the way your night had turned out, you couldn’t find it in you to care.
“Fine, but just until I finish this drink and my Uber gets here.”
TWO
mama tkachuk: Hi sweetie! Keith and I are in town for the weekend and were wondering if you wanted to get dinner with us and Matt! Text me when you get a chance!
It was so unfair. How could Chantal be as sweet as she was and have produced a child like Matthew? You were so caught up in how kind her invitation was that you had agreed to meet up with them before it really set in that you would have to sit through a dinner with Matt.
You had arrived at the restaurant a few minutes later than the agreed upon time due to traffic, so everyone else was already at the table by the time you made it. Chantal was the first to jump up and greet you with a hug, Keith following after with a ‘how are you, kid’ and a tight squeeze. You shot Matt a tight-lipped smile, trying to remain civil infront of his parents, and he returned with his typical smug grin, though it was more subdued than usual as a result of sitting next to his mother.
“You always liked to be late.” Matt teased as you sat down. You rolled your eyes at him, annoyed but willing to let the comment slide for the sake of his parents.
“I don’t know why you guys bicker all the time, you used to tell us all the time that you were going to be a family someday. You guys even practiced with Taryn and Brady.” Chantal reminisced, and you smiled uneasily at the memory. It wasn’t necessarily an unpleasant one, some of your best memories took place in the Tkachuk living room. Back when you were kids, you and Matt were attached at the hip. Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum—if Matt was caught sticking his hand in the cookie jar you were right at his side reminding him to grab one for you too. This particular instance stuck out in your mind, though, because your mom teased you about it whenever she got the chance.
It was a rainy Saturday, Keith was out of town for hockey and your dad was at the office, which left the moms sitting in the kitchen chatting about whatever adults talked about. Taryn had just learned how to walk, which meant that she was trying to follow you around to the best of her ability, even if that meant watching from the sidelines as you played mini sticks with her brothers.
But after Matt had scored against you and Brady enough times, you declared that it was time for them to play your game—house. Taryn was your baby, and she happily filled the roll as she toddled behind you. Brady was your other son, and Matt was the dad. You played like that for an hour or so, Matt pretending to come home from road trips while playing in the NHL just like his father, only to help you pretend to cook dinner and put ‘the kids’ to bed.
At six years old, he was a dream pretend-father.
“I can’t help it if Matthew runs his mouth too much.” You chirped, and though you meant it in good fun there was some seriousness. Matt never knew when to quit, his comments more obnoxious than endearing most of the time. Though, he did have his moments, you were willing to admit. You knew he had your back when it came down to it, but he also would be the first one to crash your date and tell the guy you were with some embarrassing story about you from when you were seven.
He did that no less than three separate times when you were teenagers.
“Remember when they pretended to get married at like six? And Matt cried when I told him that he wasn’t actually her husband.” Keith nudged his wife with a grin, his statement earning a groan from Matt. You flushed, keeping quiet as the memory flashed in your head—the theme of the night, apparently.
It was a summer wedding, so to speak. Sometime during the offseason your family and the Tkachuks rented a lake house for a week and you spent the entire time racing from one activity to the next while clutching Matt’s hand. Your aunt had just gotten married, so weddings were on your mind and you decided you wanted a party like she had. Your choices for potential husbands were limited, Brady and Matt the only other boys close to your age. When Brady claimed that you had cooties and ran away, Matt was the only option left and it simply took the bribe of sharing your dessert with him after dinner for him to agree.
You had made paper rings and even forced Matt to fake propose to you, all while both your mothers looked on with camera’s clutched in their hands. You had claimed your unending love for Matt that day, and he had done the same. In an effort to tease you, your mom had said that he had to kiss the bride and you both looked at her like she was crazy—though he did end up pressing a quick and sloppy kiss to the back of your hand to appease her.
And then twenty minutes later he shoved you off the dock because you were too scared to jump in.
Matt was watching you as his mother told the story, chuckling as she added in anecdotes about how she and your mother had almost started planning your real wedding that day and similar comments. It was no secret that she was rooting for you to get together with her son, and even though Keith would try to get his wife to tone down her comments, you saw his smug grin every once on a while.
The rest of dinner and dessert passed by with minimal reminiscing, and soon enough the check was paid. Matt picked up the bill, and though you tried to argue that you could pay for yourself, Matt simply stuck his tongue out at you and Keith said that he would’ve paid for everyone if he had only been able to grab the check faster. You rolled your eyes at Matt’s childishness, but thanked Keith for his kindness despite the fact that he hadn’t even really done anything.
“So where did you park?” Chantal asked as the four of you stepped outside. The cold air made you shiver, and you used one hand to tighten your coat around you while the other gestured over your shoulder in the general direction of where your car was.
“Like three blocks away. It was pretty busy when I got here.” You replied. Chantal nodded, opening her arms for a hug you readily reciprocated.
“I’ll walk you. It’s way too late for you to go by yourself.” Matt spoke up, interrupting your goodbyes with his parents. He handed his keys off to his dad so they could wait in the car while he went with you, and because he simply couldn’t just be nice, he added his next comment. “You’d probably get lost if I don’t go with you.”
“Thanks, Matt.” You said sarcastically, the roll of your eyes coming almost naturally. There wasn’t room for you to argue, because Chantal was nudging you in the opposite direction she was headed to get to Matt’s car. Part of you wondered if she somehow planned this in an another attempt to get you to spend time alone with her son. You didn’t have time to think about it too much, between saying goodbyes and making plans to meet up when you went home for the holidays, you were rushing a bit to get out of the cold.
While you walked, Matt stayed quiet, something you didn’t realize he was capable of. Your hands were shoved deep into your coat pockets to try and stay warm, but you felt his arm brush against yours every once in a while.
“Thanks for coming tonight, mom loved it.” He was softer now, his voice devoid of any of its usual smugness.
“Are you kidding? I love your parents.” You teased, trying to figure out where this quiet side of Matt was coming from. It was the side of him that rarely came out, especially in front of the media and never on the ice, but it was the side that you got along with the best. You stopped at your car, turning to face Matt. “Thanks for walking me.”
“No problem. Uh, text me when you get home, or whatever. So I know you got there safe.” He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, a slight redness to his cheeks that caught you off guard. You nodded, unlocking your car and offering him one last smile and goodbye before climbing in.
You couldn’t help but grin to yourself as you drove home. He was trying.
THREE
You had the worst luck.
Firstly, the only flight you could get home for the holidays was a red-eye to try and save some money. Secondly, your parents were making you get a cab from the airport instead of coming to pick you up. It was fine, you were an adult and could handle both those things. You had long come to terms with it by the time you were settling into your seat as everyone boarded.
But third—
“No way am I this lucky.”
The sound of the familiar voice had you tilting your head back with a groan, not even bothering to look at the person who was dropping unceremoniously into the seat beside you. Though his curls were tucked under his hoodie and he was trying his best to remain undetected, his presence was one that you would recognize anywhere.
“I’m just really, really, unlucky.” You told Matt, and though your comment was a jab at him, he wore the same grin he always did.
“That’s mean.” He teased, reaching over to poke your side because of course he hasn't outgrown giving you jumper cables. You glared at him, momentarily pausing your efforts to dig through your bag in search of your headphones just so he knew how annoyed you were. Not that he cared, or that it ever really stopped him.
“Look, Matt, I’ve had a long day, and I was looking forward to just sleeping this whole flight.” You sighed, dragging a hand down your face in frustration.
“I’ll leave you alone, promise.” Matt grinned that stupidly smug grin of his.
Yeah, right. You thought, but kept the comment to yourself. It was better to let Matt think he won than invite him to keep going by replying. He grinned at you, simply miming zipping his lips shut as you rolled your eyes.
He lasted longer than you thought he would—ten minutes.
“I don’t know what you don’t like about me so much, it’s not the hockey thing, because you love Brady.” Matt spoke up, going so far as to pull your headphone out of your ear so you could hear him.
“Brady’s adorable and like a baby brother to me.” You said matter-of-factly, earning a snicker from Matt. “You chipped my tooth when we were twelve and then blamed it on me.”
“I’m sure he’ll be glad to hear that.” He snorted, and for a second you thought he’d leave it at that. He had succeeded in getting under your skin, just like he usually did. “And it was your fault. You weren’t paying attention.”
“You didn’t have to shoot the pucks at me that hard!” You frowned at the memory. You had offered to stand in goal for him while he practiced shooting, and though you were definitely not destined to play in the NHL like him, that didn’t stop him from acting as if he was taking part in the hardest shot competition.
Matt didn’t respond, instead he just shook his head with a grin. Clearly, he was more amused by the memory than you were.
He went back to leaving you alone, though he stole one of your headphones and placed it into his ear to listen. He scrunched his nose up at the song, and you rolled your eyes at the silent jab at your taste in music.
Eventually, you did end up falling asleep. When you woke up to Matthew shaking you gently, you realized that you had fallen asleep on his shoulder and that he was waking you since you had landed and people were starting to exit. You waited for the chirps to come about your subconscious action, knowing he probably had a few comments up his sleeve. Except, he didn’t say anything, only stood up to retrieve both of your carryon bags from the overhead storage.
Matt stuck by your side the entire time you got off the plane and headed to luggage claim, unable to help himself from chirping you at the fact you couldn’t find your suitcase. You poked your tongue out at him, admittedly a little juvenile on your behalf, when you spotted your bag come around the carousel. Before you could grab it, though, he snagged it and stuck his tongue out at you before departing into the airport in search of his parents. Now, you were forced to trail after him.
Your annoyance faded, though, when you heard Chantal call your and Matthew’s names. You smiled at the woman, who hugged her son quickly before turning and pulling you into her arms.
“Guess who I got to sit next to?” Matt chimed, sounding a bit too pleased with himself for your liking. You rolled your eyes, unable to help the tiny bit of amusement you felt at how excited Chantal looked at the idea that you had each other on the flight. You and Matt may both be adults, but to her, you were still toddlers that needed constant supervision and she loved the idea that you were there to watch after each other.
“Oh, that’s lucky!” Chantal cheered and you grit your teeth, forcing a smile on your face at the way Matt was grinning smugly at you. Okay, you figured it could have been worse, you could have been seated next to a creep, but you weren’t about to admit that to Matt.
“So lucky.” You muttered sarcastically. Thankfully, Matthew wasn’t given a chance to comment further on your response, as his dad spoke up before he could.
“Is your dad here? I got a new set of clubs I want to brag about.” Keith questioned and you shook your head with a genuine smile. Living next to a retired NHLer gave your dad plenty of opportunities to bring out his competitive side, and golf was definitely one of their favorite pastimes.
“No, he and mom couldn’t come to get me because they both had work.” You explained and Keith rolled his eyes in good fun. You always wondered how both families got along so well when you couldn’t stand Matt.
“Do you want a ride home then?” Chantal offered sweetly.
“That’d be great, thank you.” You were glad you wouldn’t have to worry about getting an Uber, and you didn’t feel as if you were crashing the Tkachuks’ time with their oldest son since as soon as you started to head to the car, Chantal fell in step with you.
“Oh, Matt, you’re being such a gentleman, carrying her suitcase for her.” Chantal gushed after having noticed that Matt had an extra bag and you didn’t have one. She shot you a look and you just knew this was only fueling her belief that you were destined to end up with Matt. She would probably mention it to your mother, and then you really never would hear the end of it.
“Didn’t know you had it in you.” Keith chirped, earning an eye roll from Matt and laughter from you and Chantal. It was all in good nature, the teasing comments a sign of love amongst the hockey family.
And really, you had no choice but to agree with Keith.
FOUR
“I need you to run next door and give this to Chantal.” Your mom told you, holding out a tray of holiday cookies. You sighed, reluctantly getting up from your spot on the living room couch. You weren’t doing anything, but the aspect of having to walk all the way next door was not totally appealing.
But you did as she said and stuffed on some shoes before heading next door and letting yourself in. Taryn was the first to greet you, taking the tray of cookies and leading you towards the kitchen. As soon as the platter was set down, you both helped yourself to a cookie.
“How’s Calgary? Is Matt showing up randomly to bug you?” She was teasing, but she was right. You laughed, nodding as you broke off a piece of your cookie to eat.
“He showed up while I was on a date, completely by chance, and ruined it.” You chuckled at the memory and at the way Taryn laughed loudly at that. It wasn’t entirely true, Chris was doing a pretty good job of ruining the date on his own, but Matt’s appearance was the final nail in the coffin.
“That’s because he's practically in love with you.” She spoke between giggles. You rolled your eyes, having heard the comment countless times before. It had followed you and Matt around since you were kids, and by the time you were thirteen it morphed from platonic love to your moms explaining what soulmates were to you guys. You’d be lying if you said you hadn’t considered the idea of Matt having a thing for you, but you had long since given up on that idea.
You didn’t have time to comment on it, though, because speak of the devil, and he shall appear.
“What’re you guys talking about?” Matt marched into the room, a smug grin on his face. While he spoke, he reached across to where you were standing and broke off a piece of the cookie you were still eating. With a pout, you watched him pop your cookie into his mouth all the while eye contact with you and wearing a self-satisfied grin.
“Oh, just how you’re in love with each other.” Taryn said casually, her sentence punctuated by Matt choking on the cookie. Clearly, he was caught off guard.
“You deserved that, and no, we were not.” You told Matt as he tried to catch his breath. You couldn’t help the grin you were wearing, and for a brief second you acknowledged that he looked adorable all flustered. Matt shot a glare at his sister, who was laughing hysterically at him, and launched forward to dig his fingers into her sides.
You watched carefully as he tickled his sister mercilessly, preparing to make a break for the living room if he turned his attention to you. You were smiling, widely and genuinely, as you watched Matt mess around with his sister.
This was the Matt that you grew up best friends with.
As you were distracted, Matt let his sister go and she caught her breath while cursing him out and you let out a loud laugh at some of the creative things she said. She certainly was from a hockey family.
But then Matt turned his attention to you, a wicked grin on his face and a playful look in his eyes. Your own eyes went wide, and as soon as he took half a step towards you, you spun on your heel and dashed out of the kitchen.
You heard him chasing after you, but you didn’t risk looking back knowing that if you even wanted a chance to outrun him you would need to stay focused. And as you took a particularly sharp turn into the other room, you heard him crash into the wall, clearly not as agile as he thought he was.
“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Tkachuk! I brought cookies from Mom!” You greeted with a laugh as you sprinted past Keith and Chantal in the hallway. You barely had time to register their looks of amusement before you felt Matt’s fingers brush your back, signaling that he was close to grabbing you.
“Don’t hurt her, we like her more than you!” Keith called after you, teasing Matt and catching him off guard enough that he stumbled, and you were able to put some distance between you and him. You were laughing maniacally, the sound mixing with Matt’s chuckles and Taryn encouraging you to run faster.
Eventually, you made it to the living room, and you spotted Brady’s head poking up behind the back of the couch as he watched some rerun hockey game. You know it’s a longshot that Matt will give up and that you need to bite the bullet and let him catch you, but your stubbornness is what makes you throw yourself over the back of the couch, your head landing in the lap of a very confused and surprised Brady.
“Protect me.” You order, grabbing the younger Tkachuk brother’s bicep as Matt leaned over the back of the couch, his curls wild and grin wicked. For a second, there was a softness in his eyes that made your heart skip a beat, but then he was back to being smug.
“Brady can’t stop me.” Matt teased, leaning against the back of the couch. Brady didn’t comment, though he rolled his eyes at his brother. It was an argument that had been going on for a decade or so—which brother was stronger? And though they wrestled from time to time, Brady being victorious more often than he used to be, you knew they would never actually fight. You had been there when Keith made them shake heads and promise not to drop the gloves the first time they played each other.
“He’s taller.” You argued, and Matt chuckled as he made his way around the couch. You watched as he lifted your legs, dropping into the spot on the couch they once occupied before resting your limbs across his lap.
“Doesn’t matter.” He replied, giving your shin a squeeze as he spoke. You rolled your eyes, getting comfortable in your spot laying across the Tkachuk brothers and turning to watch the Blues vs. Stars game Brady had put on.
It felt nice to laugh with Matt again. It was as if things were back to normal, and you tried to ignore the funny fluttering feeling in your stomach as his thumbs brushed back and forth along your legs. You hated it, because it was Matt, and you had long since declared that you couldn’t stand him. And yet, there you were, melting under his touch.
“Oh, come on, you’re not going to attack her?” Taryn complained as she dropped into the free chair on the other side of the room. You stuck your tongue out at her, smiling at the sound of Matt’s chuckles. You were going to make a comment about how she was supposed to be on your side in response, but Brady was faster, and his words—for whatever reason—made any reply die on your tongue.
“It’s because he’s in love with her.”
AND ONE MORE
You hated the fact that you weren’t able to sleep. But even more so, you hated the fact that you knew exactly why you couldn’t get your mind to turn off. You couldn’t stop thinking about how sweet Matt had been earlier in the day, and though you knew he always had a soft spot for his sister, for some reason this time it was hitting you differently. Plus Taryn and Brady’s ‘he’s in love with you’s were bouncing around your head.
Finally, after what felt like the hundredth time you had tossed around under the covers, you sat up and snagged your phone off of the nightstand. You sat up, unlocking your phone and opening messages and before you could really think about stopping yourself you typed out a text and sent it.
Only after the message was sent and you couldn’t do anything about it, did you reread what you said and check the time. You couldn’t help but cringe at the one in the morning ‘hey, are you up?’ text that seemingly glared back at you. But then the three dots appeared that signaled that he was typing, and you quickly slid out of the conversation so he wouldn’t think you were waiting for his text. You were, and though he responded within a minute, you didn’t want to give his ego that extra boost.
matthew: usually I’m the one that sends that text
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes, having expected him to say something along those lines. You had practically handed that joke to him. Before you could type out a reply telling him to forget about it, your phone buzzed again with another text.
matthew: front door is unlocked, meet in the basement for a movie?
He was giving you a choice. You could go to bed and pretend this never happened and continue to tell everyone around you that the only thing you felt for Matt was annoyance. But you didn’t. You knew that you might regret it, but you slipped out of bed and tugged on a pair of leggings and a hoodie over your sleepshirt. Shoving on a pair of shoes, you tip-toed outside and to the house next door. It felt a little ridiculous, you were an adult, sneaking around to visit a boy like a teenager. But, you were quiet, and made sure you didn’t make any noise as you slipped down the stairs.
“Why am I sneaking around here like we’re fourteen again?” You teased as soon as you saw Matt already on the couch as he flipped through movie options. For a reason unbeknownst to you, your heart skipped a beat in your chest and your breathing stuttered as you cataloged just how attractive he looked in something as casual as a hoodie and sweats, how suddenly you wanted to run your fingers through his curls that definitely needed a hair treatment.
“I don’t want my family to know you’re here because then I’d have to share.” He teased, snapping you out of your thoughts and opening his arms to silently ask you to cuddle him. You hesitated for a moment, because that was not something you usually did except for maybe when you were three, but decided to throw caution to the wind and curled yourself into his side, your head resting on his shoulder. Besides, you didn’t usually text him at one in the morning either, so precedent was already out the window.
As soon as you settled into him, he draped the blanket that had been folded over the back of the couch over both of your legs. You blushed at the thoughtful action, but tried to hide the flush of your cheeks by staring straight ahead at the television.
“What are we watching?” You found your voice after a moment. When Matt didn’t respond right away, you turned to face him to find him already watching, a small smile on his face and a gentle look in his eyes. For the second time that night, you felt your breath catch in your throat, and it was only the surprised look on your face that had him snapping out of it.
“Oh, uh, you can pick.” He handed the remote to you, and you raised a brow at his odd behavior. You reached a hand up, pressing the back of your hand to his forehead as if to check his temperature with a confused look on your face.
“Are you feeling okay? You must be sick, if you’re letting someone else choose the movie.” You teased, grinning when Matt laughed, swatting your hand away and tugging you closer all in the same movement.
“I’ve been thinking—” He started, but after having grown up with hockey players, you were quick to think up a chirp.
“Are you sure you’re okay then?” You teased, enjoying the warm feeling you got when you heard his laugh. He had your back pressed to his front, so you were facing the television and couldn’t see whatever the look on his face was.
“Would you just let me talk for a minute?” He chuckled and you felt the vibrations in his chest from where you were cuddled against him. And though he was teasing you, there was a softness to his tone that had you nodding, still facing forward. “I kinda sucked when we were teenagers.” He confessed, and you couldn’t help but laugh at him. Though, holding true to your word, you stayed quiet and let him talk. “I was a preteen boy that didn’t know how to act around you and ended up making an idiot of myself.” You knew there probably was a deeper meaning to his words, but you weren’t ready to dive into that and he kept going. “And then we were fifteen and you were in love or whatever with Tommy Banner and I was jealous. And then you broke up but I had to go away for hockey and I don’t regret that, but I do regret not making things better with you before I left.”
His confession hung in the air for a moment as you processed his words. He threw a lot of information at you at once, and you cringed momentarily at the memory of your first ‘serious’ relationship.
See, the thing was, as much as you talked up your annoyance at Matthew, he had always been your person. You fake married the guy for a reason, even if you didn’t really know the implications of your actions way back then. You knew what marriage looked like from your parents and Matt’s, and you wanted that for yourself. You wanted that with Matt. He was your first real crush, and those never really go away. Or at least, yours didn’t.
But once you were teenagers, you stopped pining after your neighbor, a seemingly unattainable goal, and started hanging out with other people. You and Matt started to drift, and then eventually his teasing comments always seemed to be directed towards whatever guy you were seeing, thus making you grow contempt for him.
But now, he was showing his softer side, and those feelings from when you were younger resurfaced as he confessed that he felt the same. You couldn’t deny that you felt something when his hand brushed against you or when he grinned at you—no matter how self-satisfied he looked.
Suddenly you became aware that you had been silent for a moment too long, and you sat up straighter and turned to face Matt. He was studying you, and for the first time in as long as you could remember—except maybe that one time in eighth grade when he asked you to go to the school dance with him because he wanted to make his mom happy—he looked unsure of himself. It was an emotion that didn’t sit right on his face, and as often as you complained about his teasing, you much preferred his shit-eating grin.
“It’s your turn to talk now.” He joked, trying to lighten the mood but only succeeding partly since the breathy chuckle he gave at the end told you he was nervous.
Before you could help yourself, you had cupped his face with both your hands and pulled him forward to connect your lips to his. It took him a second to relax under your touch, but as soon as he realized what was happening, he grabbed your elbow to hold you in place.
When you felt his tongue swipe at your lips you knew you had to pull away before you got too caught up in him, which you knew you would, and you separated. His grin was wide, a little smug like usual, but mostly he was looking adoringly at you.
“I thought you hated me?” He teased, because it’s Matt and of course he would. You rolled your eyes, willing to admit that you had set him up with that one.
“Don’t push your luck, Tkachuk.” You pecked his lips once more, wondering why you had waited so long to do so. If he had been telling the truth, and you knew he was, then he had been crushing on you as long as you had been on him.
“Yes ma’am.” He joked, mock saluting while leaning towards you to chase after your lips for another kiss. You complied, but then pressed a hand on his chest to lean back enough to give him a serious look.
“And if this is going to work, you have to stop being such a pest all the time. Tone it down a bit.” He nodded, grin widening at the mention of your relationship moving past the night. You smiled at him, leaning up to give him one more kiss before settling back into his side. “And I still get to pick the movie.”
Matt chuckled, but didn’t argue. Instead, he settled for pressing a kiss to the top of your head. He let this arm fall from around your shoulders to your waist, and you knew without looking at him that he was wearing a satisfied grin.
“Who’s going to tell our moms that they were right about us?” He spoke up after a moment, and you chuckled. You were as stubborn as Matt was, and neither of you were too excited to admit to anyone that you had been wrong about the fact that you’d end up with each other. You were even certain that Brady, Keith, and Taryn had a running bet about when you and Matt would get together.
As it turns out, neither of you would have to, because you fell asleep together on the couch and Chantal was the first to find you cuddled into her son's chest.
Just like she knew you always would.

Tumblr media
Waking up on December 1st, you had no idea what was in store for you. You had no idea how the coming month would change your life forever.
It was that time of the year again. Your favourite time of year, and boy were you a sucker for tradition. Any excuse to light your cinnamon and pinecone scented candles and wear the cosiest wooliest sweaters you could find. The time of year where you would search around in storage for your favourite cashmere gloves, tartan scarf and faux fur hat. It was the time of year where you had to have your car defrosted every morning. The thought of your peppermint mocha warming your hands as you did your Christmas shopping was something to look forward to all year round.
The crisp cool air hung above your shoulders. Washington DC felt bigger than life when you were amongst the bustling December crowds, city life filled with people running around trying to get sorted in time for Christmas. The whole city was painted in thick layers of white snow and an abundance of glittering fairy lights. WHAM’s new Christmas song was a number one hit and the catchy melody filled up the department store on every main street corner. But this year was different to any other.
“You can’t pay, you can’t live here. You have three days to box up your stuff before you’re evicted.” Your landlord, Tristan, said sternly, his voice completely monotone and with no empathy whatsoever. You knew it was coming. You had determined that this was your karma.
“Please, it’s Christmas and I’ve just been laid off from my job. You know my family don’t live in the state and-”
“Not my problem,” Tristan snapped back, a small smirk playing on his lips. He had a habit of interrupting you, but doing so at this very moment irked you like no other time. “You’re a big girl. Figure it out.” And with that, he slammed his door in your face.
You stood there momentarily trying to process the confrontation that had just occurred between not only your landlord, but also ex-boyfriend, Tristan. You consider yourself lucky to have a place as nice as your apartment. It was located right in the centre of Washington DC, a two bedroom, one bathroom, with an outstanding view of the city. You always admired how it looked at night, with eccentric tall buildings lighting up the skyline. But now you were essentially made homeless, and you knew for a fact that Tristan was getting a rise out of making you suffer like this.
That’s exactly why you broke up with him. He liked to have power over you, and everyone else he met. He wanted to be the top man. He wanted to be feared; and by the rest of the people in the building? He was. But by you, not so much. His attempts to make you scared were foolish and you wouldn’t stand for it. You’d think for someone who made a living from robbing people of their hard earned money, they would be able to afford a better anniversary dinner than Pizza Hut— but no. The two of you sat in the restaurant and you were lazily dipping your nachos into the cheese sauce when he came out with something preposterous.
“I’m thinking about upping rent,” Tristan informed you with his signature smile. “By forty percent.”
You almost choked on your food. “Forty percent?!” you gasped, covering your mouth as you coughed slightly. “You can’t do that!” You knew that you could get out of paying it because, girlfriend privilege. But you were also aware of the financial status of your neighbours. The family of five who could barely afford to put food on the table, and the teenage boy who had to drop out of school to work and make an earning so he could provide medication for his sick mother. They were already struggling and with a rent rise, you just knew they wouldn't be able to take it.
“And why not?” Tristan raised an eyebrow quizzically, taking a bite of the floppy slice of pizza. You scrunch your nose up as you watched him eat with his mouth open, bits of cheese falling out and onto the table.
“Because it’s not fair,” You told him. “It’s greedy. If you need extra cash you could always look for another job. Even if it’s just part time! I heard Black Gold Cooperative are hiring and you just know the pay will be good-”
Tristan slammed his fists on the table, making you jump at his sudden movement. A few heads turned to face you both and you felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment. “Black Gold Cooperative?” He snarled. “And work for that self righteous asshole Maxwell Lord? I don’t think so, sweetie.”
You sighed at his audacity to call anyone else self righteous before giving the chance to check his own behaviour.
“It was just a suggestion.” You mumbled, avoiding eye contact with him.
“Right, because you don’t think being a landlord is a real job.” Tristan said nastily. His tone of voice sent a shiver down your spine. He was doing it again. He was speaking down to you because it was the only way he could exert power over you. “Says the girl who pours coffee all day and only works twenty hours a week and barely makes enough to avoid a goddamn bowl of pasta from Pizza Hut.” He pointed at your bowl of nachos that you had selected from the Starters menu.
You were getting really sick of his attitude. “It’s dishonest work.” You growled back at him. “You overcharge families and people who can barely get by just so they can have a roof over their head! Don’t you see how immoral that is?”
“Someone has to do it.” He shrugged cooly, taking a sip of his red wine.
“But you’re going about it the wrong way!”
“Right.” Tristan stood up and grabbed your arm. He pulled you out of your chair and dragged you outside of the restaurant.
“Let go of me!” You cried out, yanking your arm out of his hard grip. You rubbed where his fingers had dug into your skin and had no doubt it would leave a bruise.
“Oh, I’m sorry, is the broke ass barista telling me how to do my job? You’re the one to talk. You’re nothing. And you’d be nothing without me. Look at yourself,” Tristan scoffed, and suddenly he was making you feel very self conscious. “You were foolish enough to think you could move to DC and make something of yourself. You have ambition but you don’t know how to use it. And the way you tried to embarrass me during our anniversary dinner…” He was doing what he always did. Villainsing you.
“I never want to see you again.” You spat, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. Your voice was shaky but you didn't want to break down in front of him. You didn't want to give him that satisfaction.
“That’ll be hard since we live in the same building,” he rolled his eyes and tried grabbing your hand again but you flinched away, fear prevailing in your eyes. “Oh come on baby.”
“Don’t call me that.” You said through gritted teeth. “I’m calling a cab. And don’t bother calling me. See you around Tristan.”
And that was the last time you had seen Tristan, until today— talk about bad break-ups.
You shuffled upstairs back to your apartment and slumped against the door trying to figure out how you were going to find a new place to live in three days. Maybe if you found a job you could persuade Tristan to let you stay a little longer. You knew that's what he wanted. Everything he had done, everything he said, was to scare you. But Tristan was attached and despite threatening to evict you, he didn't want to see you leave.
You wanted out. Your apartment was filled with bad memories and maybe this was your opportunity to start fresh. This could be your calling. But judging from your current situation and the time of year, you figured you’d be lucky just finding a roadside motel to spend Christmas day in— and you really didn't want that. You grabbed the phone book from under your coffee table and walked over to the dial up phone hung by the kitchen door. Locating one of the most popular property marketplaces in central DC, you dialled up and found your fingers twirling in the telephone wire.
“Hey,” you greeted.
“Hello!” an older sounding lady chirped on the other end of the line. “How can I be of service?”
“I um, I gotta find a place to live— and fast. I’m getting evicted and my budget, well, I don’t have a lot-” your eyes scanned the living room as you weighed up possible things you could sell for just a little more cash.
“Oh, I’m sorry dear. We’re shut for the holidays and there's no place in DC that will help you find a place before new year,” She said sadly and you couldn't believe your bad luck. No place at all? “It really is a shame that you're being evicted, but if you drop into our store after the new year, I’d love to help you find a place that is suitable for you and your budget!”
You were left rendered speechless. “I- I’m going to be homeless.” you said to yourself, the fact finally dawning on you. You knew that you wouldn't ever be truly homeless and that Tristan would be more than happy to let you stay with him during the holiday season but the thought of having to go back to him knocked you sick. You’d rather freeze on a street corner than feel his embrace once more. You wondered if you could travel back home to see your family. “Hey, are there any train trips or flights to Oregon?” you asked.
“Nope,” the lady popped her p and she sounded far too cheery for your liking. “Tickets have been sold out for months. I could get you a flight for January 12th?”
“No.” you mumbled. “My car broke down… but what are the chances I could get a cabbie to Oregon?”
“You want to get a cab to Oregon?” The woman on the other end laughed in disbelief, and you supposed that could be justified. “You can't be serious. Besides, Astoria bridge has been closed down due to last week's snow storm and I can't see it reopening until after the snow has cleared. Heaven knows when that will be.”
Tristan had really caught you in a loop. “So there is no way I can find a place to stay, nor travel to Oregon, at all, this month?”
“I’m sorry dear.”
“Okay, well thank you for your help.” You said wistfully, feeling dread forming in the pit of your stomach.
“Merry Christmas and have a hap-” You hung up on her.
You weren't ready to give up hope just yet. If there was one thing you always clung on to, it was faith. Your belief that everything happens for a reason and everything is sure to work out for the best in the end. You figured you could go job hunting and then tell Tristan you would be able to pay him double once you got your first paycheck. No, it wasn't ideal but what other choice did you have?
You grabbed your jacket and purse before leaving your apartment. Did you have a plan? No. You didn't even have your resumé with you.
You plodged your feet through the snow, your socks dampening even through your boots but finally made it to the bustling main street. You looked in the windows of all the different department stores and in desperate search for hiring signs, even going inside and inquiring with members of staff— but there were no positions available.
Just then, you found yourself outside of Black Gold Cooperative and you remembered that they were hiring. Granted, you didn't know what the position was, and figured you almost certainly didn't have the qualifications to work for such a prestigious business.
You looked up at the tall building, always feeling like an overwhelmed tiny insect when you stood next to it. It sparkled a sleek black and in a large, gold, cursive font BGC was displayed so high it looked over the whole city. It was certainly the tallest skyscraper you had ever seen with your own pair of eyes. In that moment, you almost backed down. But this wasn't a choice anymore and you had to shoot your shot. Just roll with it. You told yourself.
You were able to take a peek at the lobby in the double door entrance. Everything was marble with gold embellishments. If you hadn't known any better, you would've thought it was a palace. Trodding over the red carpet, you were stopped by a man’s arm, not allowing you to enter. “Name and business?" He asked, his voice rough. You looked up at him. Tall and broad, no hair and dressed in all black. A doorman that looked like a nightclub bodyguard. If you weren't intimidated you would've laughed.
“Sorry?” you asked, trying your best to sound as innocent and polite as could be.
“Name and business.” He repeated, his tone of voice the same. He didn't budge— still standing there with his arms folded against his chest. You weren't even sure if he was looking at you, with his black sunglasses hiding his face.
“Uhm,” you stood on your tip toes and took a glance at the clipboard which was pressed between his forearm and chest. Names that had been typewritten were printed on the page and most of them had been crossed out— bar one. You read out the name. “Barbara Minerva.” you said confidently. He looked at you for sure this time and pulled his glasses off, narrowing his eyes. He took the clipboard and checked for your fake name and sure enough, there it was.
“You’re Barbara Minerva?” he beckoned, raising an eyebrow.
“The one and only.” you lied with a charming smile. “And my business is…. actually I'm here for a job interview.”
“Oh!” the man grinned, like something had clicked in his mind. He scribbled out Barbara's name on your clipboard and ushered you inside. “Mr Lord’s office is on the top floor. Best of luck Ms Minerva.”
When you entered the lobby, warmth washed over your body and you couldn't help but smile. It was all lit up with yellow fairy lights and an enormous twelve foot Christmas tree in the centre. The tree was decorated with red and golden baubles. It was simply magnificent and looked like it was straight out of a catalogue.
You walked over to the elevator and pressed the button. No way would you be walking up 22 flights of stairs to the top floor. You really couldn't believe you were even granted access to the building, nevermind the fact you now had an interview with the self acclaimed and prestigious mutli-billionaire Maxwell Lord. A feeling of dread filled your stomach. What if he caught on? What if he figured out you weren't this Barbara woman? Could you go to jail? You tried your best to shrug the feeling off and remain confident. To be honest, you'd rather spend Christmas locked away in a cell than with Tristan. You promised yourself that this would be worth it.
The top floor was sleek, a long and wide corridor with an office at the very end. Marble statues were dotted around, and the walls were filled with oil paintings bordered with solid gold frames. At the front, not too far from where the elevator had dropped you off, was a help desk. Three women with sleek hair and matching pencil skirts scoped you out, almost glaring at you. You were sure you noticed one of them stifle a laugh. But you were too mesmerised by your surroundings to care. Everywhere you looked was just so magnificent.
"Can I help you?" one of the ladies snapped you out of your thoughts. Your head bolted in their direction.
"Oh!" you exclaimed, pulling off your faux fur hat and sliding the gloves off your fingers. You shoved them hap-hazardly in your coat pocket. "I'm Barbara Minerva," you introduced yourself with the politest smile you could muster. "I have an interview with Maxwell Lord?"
The three girls gawked at you in silence. It was like you had grown a third head. "You have an interview with Mr Lord?" one of the women raised her eyebrows. She flicked her blonde long ponytail and settled a hand on her hip.
You hesitated, considering her rude attitude for a moment. "Yes, as a matter of fact, I do."
The three girls started at you for just a beat too long before one of them, with the sleekest ebony hair you had ever seen, handed you a document. "You need to sign this NDA." she said simply, rolling a pen over to you.
Your eyes scanned the document which just so happened to be very vague. "Why the need for a non disclosure agreement?" you beckoned. "It's just a job interview."
The blonde girl snorted and the ebony haired girl slapped her arm. "Yeah, just a job interview." The blonde assistant rolled her eyes, a small smirk playing on her lips. "We don't make the rules, Mr Lord does. And we know better than to question him."
This was really odd. You wondered if it was really worth it but you had already come this far— you couldn't just walk out now. You sighed and signed your name over the NDA. The blonde girl let out a cackle.
"Is there a problem?" you questioned, stone faced and unamused.
Your heart was racing. These ladies were so pushy and you were certain that if it was going to go wrong at some point— it would be now.
"No, not at all," a girl with chestnut hair smiled. "That's just Stephanie being a bitch as per usual." The blonde girl, who you now could identify as Stephanie gasped.
"I am not a bitch!" Stephanie cried.
"You kinda are." The ebony haired girl shrugged her shoulders.
"Shut up Amanda!" Stephanie spat. Amanda rolled her eyes and blew a bubble of gum before analysing her nail beds.
"Brittany started it." Amanda accused and before you knew it, the three girls began to cat fight each other.
"I- I'm just going to take a seat over there." You said, trying to speak over the girls who were shouting at each other.
"Amanda you know Mr Lord hates it when you blow bubbles with your gum!" Stephanie accused, narrowing her eyes.
"She does it because he still won't let her blow him." Brittany cackled.
"That is not true." Amanda gasped again, shaking her head.
You felt yourself waver out of their little argument, truly taken by surprise at how unprofessional they were being. You expected higher standards from people who were employed by Maxwell Lord. You shuffled into the black leather sofa, trying to get cosy when the double doors to his office opened. You adjusted yourself, watching as a young looking girl walked out. She didn't make eye contact with anyone, her movements were almost robotic.
"How do you think she coped?" You heard Stephanie whisper.
"Look at her," Brittany replied. "She's a mess. I better go check on Mr Lord."
"No, I'll check on Mr Lord."
"NO, I'll check on Mr Lord."
Once again, you muffled out their argument and paid close attention to the girl. As she neared you, you saw her lipstick was smeared to one side and her cheeks were tear stained— black kohl eyeliner smudged just as much as her lipstick. Had she been crying? You felt your nerves increase and you picked up on the fact that she was walking with a limp. Noticing the three girls race to Maxwell's office, you took the chance to approach the young girl. You stood up and held your hand out.
"Hey, are you okay?" you asked her, taking a compact mirror out of your purse and handing it to her. She shook her head, rejecting your sentiment. "What- uhm, what's he like?" You asked her hesitantly.
"He's just the way you imagine him to be." She told you with a shaky exhale. You rolled your shoulders back as you contemplated her words. You hadn't really thought much of Maxwell Lord. Of course, everyone in the world knew who he was. For generations, the Lord family had shares in the oil drilling enterprise, but Maxwell Lord IV made a name for himself when he bought out 90% of the oil fields around the world; his father only owning a measly and yet still impressive 15% before him. The front page of Forbes magazine three years in a row— practically the face of 80s television with his cheesy infomercials being broadcast on every channel, every time of the day. Everyone knew his face, they knew his voice, they knew Maxwell Lord. Stories about him graced the tabloids, speculating who his latest lover was, whether or not there had been a new strain on his family and what his financial earnings looked like circa 1984. "He's just getting cleaned up now," the girl informed you with hazy eyes. "Maybe do yourself a favour and bring yourself tissue."
"That bad huh?" you bit your finger anxiously.
"No, he's amazing." the girl swooned. "I just hope I get a call back."
Okay, now you were really confused. "Well, good luck." You offered her a warm smile but she just bit her lip and continued limping to the elevator. A few moments later, the three girls who manned the main desk approached you. Stephanie took a step forward, offering you quite possibly the fakest smile you had ever seen.
"Mr Lord will see you know."

Hello, sweety! I don't know if you're currently taking up request or not (please don't mind this ask if you're not doing it right now ^^). I'm a teacher and seeing how Mitsuhide teaches MC in his route, may I request you for a HC of Mitsuhide finds out that his MC is a teacher as well in her future life? I really want to know how he would react on that. Thank you for visiting my blog beforehand and hoping you a wonderful upcoming weekend! ✨🍀
Hellooooo dear 😍😍♥️♥️, thank you very much for this interesting request 🥰💗! I am also aspiring to become a teacher in few years so I am very glad to meet you😍😍! And I would like to say that you are an amazing artist👏🙌! I hope you also have a great weekend💃🌹! So, here we go😉~
Ikesen Headcanon⚔💗
Mitsuhide reacting to a MC being a Teacher👩‍🏫:
You loved teaching children😍❤ but you ended up in the sengoku era while travelling to Kyoto on a school trip with your students & other teachers leaving a very good life in the modern era😩 & accidentally saved Nobunaga's life to your surprise & Mitsuhide took a special interest in you👀 & his mind-reading skills used to freak you out😨.
You were honestly terrified after stepping on the battlefield for the first time in your life😱 when you have been always surrounded by the laughter & twinkling eyes of children and you were missing it terribly😭, to top it all, the shock of seeing a man die infront of your eyes was too overwhelming, so you fell unconscious😵 & Mitsuhide carried you back in Azuchi Castle.
"Starting from tomorrow, I will be your teacher, little mouse, for the subject matters, I think, tactics, equestrianism, self defense, firearms seems a good start😏!", said Mitsuhide with a huge smirk on his face.
"I hope you will be a good pupil, little mouse🐭!", said Mitsuhide as he stood and gave you a head-pat.
"Pffffttttt, I am waiting for that moment", you murmured, chuckling to yourself🤭.
"Did you say something?", asked Mitsuhide turning back to look at her.
"I am looking forward for tomorrow, Mitsuhide-sensei, goodnight😅!", she straighten up with a slight bow. Mitsuhide smiled at her🙂 and goes outside the room.
"His smile creeps me out, well, nevermind. I am excited to see the surprise on his face tomorrow😁", she let out a huge grin.
"Before starting up on the actual studies, I would like to test your knowledge base, here is your questions sheet, fill it up, little mouse📝!", said Mitsuhide as he gave her the question paper with a smirk on his face😏.
You took it, pretending to be afraid of the test making him amused, "Go on, little mouse, it's not that difficult, I assure you!", he said with a amused grin on his face😄. As you look down at the questions on Japanese literature, history & general knowledge, on the inside, you were so happy 💃while on the outside, you kept a face of a child who is horrified at the thought of giving an exam😱.
You submitted your answer sheet to him and as Mitsuhide scanned it, his eyes went wide with shock😲, he was NOT expecting this at all. You honestly wished that you have a camera 📷 to capture his expression which was so funny to say the least. Each & every answer was correct💯.
"How😳?", it's the only word that came out his mouth. You couldn't control anymore & burst out laughing loudly🤣. "Because I am also a teacher, Mitsuhide👩‍🏫", you said with a proud look on your face. "What😳?", he was left speechless once again which only made it harder for you to control your laughter.
"You really surprised me there, little mouse😅!", Mitsuhide laughs along with you to hide his flustered expression. "So, what do you teach🤔?", he asked, curious to know about you.
"Let's see, I mainly teach japanese literature & history, apart from it, I am well versed in general knowledge, english literature, I love art, psychology, etc, so if any child wants to learn it, I teach these skills to them as well with full excitement as being around them & seeing them grow in their lives makes me so happy🤩❤!", you said with a biggest smile on your face🥰 & eyes shining with happiness since you came to this era👀✨. Mitsuhide was, to be very honest, awestruck seeing your genuine happiness☺️.
As much as Mitsuhide didn't want to interrupt you, but he grew suspicious of your origin as being this educated in this era was surprisingly rare especially in something like english literature🤔. "Who are you & where are you from, mysterious little mouse? Tell me all your secrets, little one", he asked, narrowing his gaze at you👀.
You froze for a moment😳 as you knew very well that you have raised his suspicions when you were rambling non-stop😬 & you couldn't lie or else you will be in huge trouble😓. "Why should I tell you when you are also a potential "traitor" in Oda forces infront of everyone, hm?", you asked jokingly trying to avoid the question😅. "Little mouse, I am used to prying out the secrets and I would not prefer to use the same techniques on you", he said with a frown on his face🤨 unknown to him but you noticed the discomfort in his expression & sighed.
So you showed him your purse👜 and told him everything about yourself as Mitsuhide listened patiently. "So our little mouse came from 500 years in the future, it's hard to believe but you have proof with yourself, now I can see the reason how you are so innocent & untouched by the realities of this time", said Mitsuhide with a amused smirk😏.
"I have only told you the truth, rest is up to you to believe in me", you said with a pout☹.
"Don't pout, I believe in you, little one, as you have been a very nice girl, I will treat you with tea & sweets🍵🍡 as a reward, little mouse", Mitsuhide said caressing your cheek with his thumb😏. You honestly couldn't stop yourself from smiling after hearing the offer😍.
Mitsuhide was overcome with affection for her as she believed in him as a person despite having her doubts and confided in him with everything, he made a secret vow to himself to protect her from everything❤.
You both went to the teahouse together & suddenly Kyubei called Mitsuhide for giving some urgent information. Mitsuhide excused himself for a moment while you were happily eating your sweets😍, but then, you heard some men were talking bad things about him behind his back & you couldn't stand seeing & listening something wrong so you strongly defended him infront of them😡, not caring for the fact that you had no weapons on yourself, one of the men tried to hit you but Mitsuhide arrived in time to rescue you from them😎.
So this started the strong feeling of love in heart of Mitsuhide towards you😍💓💞 as nobody has ever done something like this for him, he was so impressed by the fact that you strongly stood for your values proving your strength of sense of justice as a teacher & a good person by heart☺️💯.
He continued training you in survival skills like self defense, horseriding, shooting as you were already were well-versed in theory. In exchange, you would definitely teach him english literature & tell him about many fascinating things about the human mind & everything you know about future along with many other things😍, you both loved spending time with each other and always look forward to such meetings everyday.
Once, you were well trained in these skills, you gave your gratitude towards your "teacher" Mitsuhide by gifting him a very beautiful portrait✍❤ of him playing with his pet fox, Chimaki🦊. He couldn't resist hugging you tightly the moment, he laid his eyes on it🤗💗. You yourself was the biggest & the most precious gift for him in his life but your gift made him the most happiest person💓😢, he would definitely try to hide his happiness with a amused smirk & headpat but you can see through his facade that he is genuinely happy🥰. He would definitely put the portrait in such a place where everyone could see his little mouse's amazing skills😎😏.
After facing many difficulties together, you both confessed your feelings towards each other💐 and you both were a lovely couple infront of everyone😍👫💗.
You would both use knowledge of english as a medium for infiltration as spies together in other territories🧐. Surprisingly, a language, i.e., english, became a special kind of exchange & secret code between you☺️ and Mitsuhide😏 as you both would often converse in english infront of other warlords much to their surprise & confusion🙄😳🤔.
As you were always willing to stay by his side, he used to take you along to infiltrate certain places, your skill of art would definitely come as a big help for Mitsuhide💯, as you could easily draw the suspects making his workload way more easier than it was before✍😌.
In exchange, Mitsuhide would always make sure that you were not uncomfortable in such investigation trips, he would always give you tips in dancing, singing, acting, etc 🤗 and also expect loads of teasings while he is at it, fufufufu😘.
You both being the best teachers around in Azuchi would definitely use this opportunity to teach as many children as possible who don't have access to proper education without asking for anything in return as you both did it for your own self-satisfaction & happiness in your free times💛. Mitsuhide generally taught the skills of self defense🤼‍♂️, weaponry🔫, etc while you would educate the kids in literatures, general knowledge & art👩‍🏫. Children would also always look forward to meeting both of you everyday🥰❤🤗. It became one of your most favourite & productive ways to spend time with each other❤. Children also ships you both together, mind you👀❤🤭!
Mitsuhide loved the way your eyes sparkles with happiness👀✨ whenever you are around the children🥰😘❤ and can't help falling more deeply in love with you😍💓.
He would always praise you infront of everyone, everytime he gets a chance😏. Cue warlords- We know that already, Mitsuhide, you just told us🤦‍♂️. Mitsuhide: Hooooh~But not that...😏 endless praise begins & he shuts up only when you take him outside the council room dying of embarrasment😳🙈🤦‍♀️ to which he only laughs loudly🤣😏.
Mitsuhide would often call you "my brilliant little mouse💯🐭!", as his way of showing affection towards you💗😏. Cue you blushing deep shade of red tomato and running away from him😳🙈🍅.
Extra~
"You really love her, huh?", asked Hideyoshi as he was walking down the hallways😆. "Obviously, I love her with all my heart💗, she is the brightest star of my life🌟!", said Mitsuhide, his eyes filled with love and a beautiful smile on his face.
"Was that a genuine smile on your face, Mitsuhide?!", exclaimed Hideyoshi, shocked😲.
"My, My, Hideyoshi, I don't have any idea what you are talking about😏", said Mitsuhide as he realised that his facade broke their for a moment out of his love for you. Hideyoshi *eye twitch* : whatever🙄!
Mitsuhide then went looking for you to tease and shower you with all his love & affection❤😏.
Hope, you all enjoyed it❤😍🤗. Comments are appreciated😇!

I just read the pregnancy rowaelin angst and it made me feel so many things. Would you write a second part, where Aelin actually find out she's pregnant again and is all happy but also scared to tell Rowan? And then the first ultrasound happens? Maybe they already have an adopted child and they are so excited to become a sibling and it's all cute and fluff. ❤️
This is so sweet. Like so fucking sweet it gave me toothache. I threw as much fluff as I possibly could because as I said, pregnancy is something personal to me and I love happy endings. It’s fucking long but I hope you enjoy every single second of it. This is the part one!
Warnings: literally none, it’s just really cute
Safe haven 2
--
Aelin was resting against the hood of her car, arms crossed and eyes scanning the crowd for…
“Mommy!” A little girl screamed from the school’s door. Her inky black hair bounced as she ran to Aelin, her green eyes shining with excitement. “Mommy, here!”
Aelin’s face broke into a wide grin as she jogged in her daughter’s direction and grabbed the little girl in her arms. She immediately peppered her daughter’s face in quick kisses, earning delighted laughs.
“Hello, Aurora. How was your day at school, baby?” Aelin asked, standing up with Aurora in her arms. The girl hugged Aelin’s neck fiercely, resting her head on her mother’s shoulder. “Made any friends?”
Aelin fought a smile when she saw Aurora blushing and smiling sheepishly. “His name is Lachlan, and he’s new to the school. He speaks nice.”
“Oh, he does?”
“Yes. He said is how people speak where he come from. Some kids made fun of it, but I think it was pretty. Just like daddy speaks a little different too.”
Aelin nodded, kissing her daughter’s crown. For all her excitement and free spirit, Aurora was awfully shy around anyone who wasn’t her family or people she knew since her adoption. Her best friend, Aedion and Lys’s daughter, was a year younger so they couldn’t be in the same class. Rowan and Aelin had been hoping for weeks now that Aurora would make at least one friend in school. She was six and smart like her dad, which caused her to feel a little bit different from the other kids.
Aelin couldn’t wait to see the relief on Rowan’s face that their baby had made a friend.
“So now you guys are friends?”
“Yes!” She smiled excitedly and clapped her hands. “He said he’s gonna bring me some candies from his kingdom tomorrow, and I said I would bring a picture of Fleetfoot.”
“That’s so great, baby.” Aelin smiled, putting Aurora in her seat and buckling her up. “We’ll find the most beautiful picture of Fleetfoot to show Lachlan.”
Her daughter squeaked with delight, and Aelin laughed as she opened her window and closed the door. She stood on the side walk once more, looking around again, searching for someone else.
“Mom!” A teenage boy called her.
“Nino!” Aurora shouted from the backseat. “Nino, I made a friend!”
Nino smiled at her voice, his friend group smiling too. They all waved at Aelin as her son jogged in her direction, giving her a quick kiss on her forehead. Although Nino was adopted, everyone liked to joke he had gotten Rowan’s genes. His and Aurora’s green eyes were the exact same shade as Rowan’s, and Nino was becoming as tall as his father.
He waved back at his friends and they were shouting their goodbyes as they walked away.
“Bye, aunt Aelin!” Evangeline shouted.
Aelin smiled at her and waved back. Evangeline had been Aedion and Lys’s ward much before Aelin and Rowan had even considered adoption. Eva was much as Lys’s daughter as Nino and Aurora were her kids.
“How was your day in school?” Aelin said, getting in the car as Nino took the passenger seat.
“Fine.” He said, and Aelin only raised a brow at him. He sighed, rubbing his eyes under his glasses. “I bombed math.”
Although she should be pissed, should act like the strict mom and reprimand him from bombing another math test, Aelin had to fight a smile. “Your dad is gonna eat your liver with a spoon if you keep failing math exams.”
“Mommy! That’s disgusting!” Aurora said, and Aelin looked back to see her frowning her whole face with disgust.
Aelin laughed, and so did Nino.
“I know, I know. Evangeline also barely passed, Malik did worse than I. Phedre said she could teach me.”
“Oh, she did?” Aelin was absolutely certain that her son had the biggest crush on one of his best friends, Phedre. Whenever Eva came to their houses with Aedion and Lysandra, she would also tease her cousin endlessly.
“Mom.”
She batted her eyelashes innocently. “Yes, sweetie?”
“Stop that shit.” Aelin also knew she should reprimand him from cursing, but she fully believed that a sixteen year old boy should be allowed to say some curse words here and there. Never in important occasions, but both she and Rowan were fine with it during their daily lives.
Aelin only snorted, and silence fell upon the car.
She quietly looked at her two kids, Aurora playing with a doll she had found and Nino typing something on his phone, and a small smile played on her lips.
When Aelin learned that she would have difficulty getting pregnant three years ago, her world fell. She didn’t want to base her whole life on that fact, but it was like seeing some of her biggest dreams getting crushed right in front of her eyes. Even when Rowan started explaining to her how the adoption process would be, a part of her was still sad by the prospect of not getting pregnant.
It hadn’t taken them too long to go to foster care. Aelin had to admit, she was only half paying attention during the beginning of their visit, her mind still heavy with a sort of mourning. She still remembered the feeling of being completely devastated, and only Rowan’s pine green eyes had taken her out of her stupor.
She stopped mid track when she again saw Rowan’s pine green eyes staring at her, only it wasn’t Rowan because he was walking behind her. Aelin took in the little three year old sitting on the floor, playing with two old dolls.
That moment had been Aelin’s epiphany.
It was like a whole new path had been revealed to her, a striking realization that she might have dreamed of getting pregnant, but that wasn’t all that there was. She could keep trying, but she wouldn’t waste away in grief.
“Who’s she?” Aelin’s voice was low, and the social worker stopped talking to Rowan, both of their heads turning to her. “The little girl with black hair. What’s her name?”
“Who? Aurora?” At that, the girl smiled at Aelin and Rowan, extending one of her dolls.
For the first time in a week, Aelin’s smile was genuine. Her heart was beating so fast, hope blossoming where grief had been. She approached the girl and seated on the floor with her, taking the doll and starting to play. She felt Rowan’s soft gaze on them, and also heard the whispered words with the social worker.
“How old is she?”
“Three.” The woman responded. “Although our highest demand is for babies, Aurora would have a greater chance being adopted if she didn’t have an older brother. Not everyone is willing to take in two kids, much less when one who is so much older.”
“How old is he?” Aelin said, turning to look at the social worker and Rowan standing behind her. Aurora seemed content with playing with Aelin’s doll even though Aelin wasn’t moving it.
“Dominique is thirteen. We all call him Nino because Aurora couldn’t pronounce Nick, only Nino.”
Aelin stared at Rowan, and he stared right back. They had come here to look for babies, that’s for sure. Aelin wanted to be there every step, wanted to see every phase. They didn’t even know what they would do with a teenager. Or with two kids at once. But Aelin’s heart had almost burst out of her chest when she took a look at Aurora, and the thought of just going home and never seeing her again hurt.
“Can we meet the boy?” Rowan asked, not taking his eyes off Aelin.
“Of course, just a second.” The woman wandered off, and Rowan came to sit by Aelin.
Aurora eyed him suspiciously, but relaxed when he gave her a reassuring smile.
“I’m Aelin, this is my husband Rowan.” Aelin gestured between them, her voice soft so she wouldn’t scare the girl.
Aurora smiled at them, and was opening her mouth to say something when her brother entered the room.
If Aurora had been Aelin’s epiphany, Nino had been Rowan’s.
Rowan looked at Aelin and both of them shared a secretive smile.
And that had been that.
Rowan got all the papers to bring the kids to live with them and then the adoption papers. It was strange in the beginning, the new addition to the house, but they soon feel in such natural normalcy that Aelin sometimes wanted to cry when she thought of it.
Nino absolutely loved Aelin, but he adored Rowan. His father was his role model, and Nino did everything to build a relationship with Rowan as fast as possible. They went to hockey and football games together. Rowan always took Nino to practice, and they would always go out just the two of them after to eat something. Aurora was closer to Aelin, but she adored her father just the same and had him wrapped around her little finger.
There was so much love on Rowan’s eyes when he looked at their kids that Aelin’s heart skipped a beat.
She loved her family so much that sometimes she felt she could die from it.
“Mom?” Nino woke her up from her memories. She parked the car in front of Rowan’s clinic, and when Nino started taking off his seatbelt, she put a hand on his wrist. He looked at her puzzled, but didn’t say anything. He rested against the seat again, playing on his phone as Aelin took Aurora out and walked in the clinic.
Rowan was a surgeon, but he sometimes did some clinic consults. On those days, Aelin would bring the kids to spend the day with him. She waved at Fenrys who was talking with a patient, and he waved back and winked at Aurora, making her giggle at her uncle.
“Dada!” Aurora shouted the moment she saw Rowan’s silver head, and his head snapped up with a smile already on his face.
“If it’s not my two favorite girls in the whole world.” He stood, walking to them. Rowan took Aurora out of Aelin’s arms and bent down to give her a kiss. He gave another quick one before standing straight again. He gave a peck on Aurora’s forehead and she laid her face on his shoulder. “Where’s Nino?”
“Sick.” Aelin lied. “I’m taking him home. Nothing serious, just a little headache and nausea.”
Rowan’s brows instantly furrowed, and he looked to the entrance as if he could see his son sitting inside the car. “Want me to check on him?”
Aelin laughed. “He’s not that sick and would hate the fussing. He’ll be better once you go home, but for today is only you and Aurora.”
He nodded, still not fully convinced.
“Actually, Aurora has something to tell you.” Aelin said with a smile. “About her new friend.”
Rowan’s face broke into a curious smile and he looked at his blushing daughter. “Oh?”
“His name is Lachlan and he speaks nice.” She said shyly.
Rowan bit his lip not to laugh, and Aelin did the same. She stepped closer to him, giving him another kiss. “I’ll see you home. Love you.”
“Love you too, Ace.” He called after her as she left, immediately turning to his daughter to hear about her new friend.
The moment Aelin got into the car, Nino looked at her. “So, what are we hiding from dad?”
“Why would you think that?”
“You say you know me because I am your son. Well,” he shrugged. “I know you because you’re my mom.”
She smiled at that, but it slowly fell. “It’s a secret, Nino. And I really need you to keep it.”
He was suddenly serious. “You can tell me whatever, mom.”
She blew a breath. “I’m pregnant.”
He stared at her for a few moments before a smile broke on his face. Nino had known since the beginning how much his mom wanted to get pregnant. It had never made him feel less wanted or loved, and he couldn’t be happier for her right now. “Mom, that’s amazing! Why can’t dad know?”
“What if I lose it again, Nino? I can’t put your dad through it again. I remember the miscarriages from years ago and although he doesn’t think so, I knew the devastation on his eyes. I never held for more than three weeks. I’m so sorry to put this weight on you, sweetheart, but I just couldn’t go to the ultrasound alone.”
“It’s no weight, mom. Of course it isn’t.” He was still smiling at her. “How long?”
“I don’t know. The treatments mess up my periods so I haven’t had one in two months, but that doesn’t mean anything. I started getting morning sickness a few days ago, so maybe a week.” Aelin was tense, her palms clammy as she started driving to the hospital. “I’m so nervous, Nino. It crushed me three years ago, and I haven’t had a pregnancy scare since then.”
“You had three years of treatments, mom. Everything is gonna be alright and Aurora will have a little sibling to pick on.” Despite her tension, Aelin laughed. Nino was always calm, always a steady presence. His reassurance made her calmer, even though she wished she could call Rowan. He was the only one who really knew how to soothe her nerves.
The last few days had been torture. Her hands had been trembling when she bought a pregnancy test. Trembling even more when it came back positive. She wanted to tell Rowan so, so bad. Wanted to have him by her side as she discovered if she would be able to hold it or not, but she couldn’t bring herself to break his heart again. They had been so happy for the past three years with Aurora and Nino that Aelin wouldn’t dare to break his peace.
In the waiting room, Nino talked to his mom about anything to distract her. Aelin forced herself to listen about his classes, about hockey practice, about how Malik, his best friend, had gone to the infirmary after Evangeline accidentally decked him during gym. How he and Phedre had laughed their asses off while watching the scene.
She was smiling softly at her son when the nurse came in, asking her if she was ready. Just like that, all her calm disappeared. Her heart was beating so fast that it was all she could hear as she walked entered the room.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Whitethorn. How are we doing today?” The doctor asked as Aelin laid down. He rode her shirt up to expose her belly, applying the cold lubricating jelly onto her skin. “Your son?”
“My oldest, yes.” Aelin answered automatically. She was too nervous to elaborate further. Nino was sitting on a chair by the bed, elbows on his knees while he stared at the black monitor.
“So let’s get over with it, shall we?” He said with a smile, asking her a few questions before putting the transducer against her skin. Immediately the black screen lit up, and the doctor stared at it, moving the thing across her belly.
Aelin couldn’t tear her eyes away from the screen, trying to understand what was going on. Her heartbeat was steady but so strong that she could feel her whole body shaking with it. “So?” She asked after a few moments.
The doctor was silent, still analyzing what was on the screen. When he turned to her, he gave her a smile. “Everything seems fine, Mrs. Whitethorn. Because of your treatments your period was irregular, and that was most likely what stopped you from noticing the pregnancy earlier. Judging by the size, you have two healthy and strong babies inside of you for two months now. I would still recommend biweekly visits just to make sure nothing changes but... The pregnancy seems fine, nothing apparent to worry about. Congratulations.”
Aelin’s whole world stopped at that moment. She could feel her cheeks dampening, her mouth letting out a small sob but she wasn’t really there. Her mind was spinning and she had never known this feeling. She wanted to put her hand on her stomach, above the two little things she could not even feel but knew that were there.
“Would you like to hear it?”
She nodded, her eyes glued to the monitor. When Aelin first heard the two soft heartbeats twining together, she was fully crying. It was like hearing the response to so many questions she didn’t even know she wanted the answers. It cracked a damn inside of her, and she closed her eyes, basking on the sound of her babies’ heartbeats.
She turned to Nino and he was smiling at her. “Damn, now I have to share my heritage with two more people?”
Aelin laughed out loud, the sound merry to her ears. “Can I record it? To show my husband?”
“Of course, and if you want a picture we can provide that.”
Aelin nodded eagerly, and held onto the recording and the pictures all the way home. When they arrived, Rowan’s car was already parked in the garage.
“Where were the two of you?” Rowan asked the moment Nino and Aelin stepped inside. “And I thought you were sick.”
Nino smiled at his father, speaking to him as he went up the stairs, his voice gloating. “I knew first.”
Rowan’s face was a mask of confusion as he watched his son disappear. He turned back to Aelin, sitting on their couch. “Knew what first?”
Unable to help herself, tears started falling from her eyes and she went to him. He immediately grabbed her in his arms, holding her on his lap. Even not knowing what was going on, Rowan whispered soothing words to her and rubbed her back.
He gave her a strong kiss to the forehead. “Fireheart, what happened?”
She wordlessly took out her phone, looking for the recording. He watched her intently, worry showing on his face.
Rowan was a doctor, he would understand what that was without her explaining, she she silently played it. It took him a moment of listening to the recording to understand what it was, for the expression on his face to go from worry to absolute exhilaration.
He put a hand on her stomach, the other one going to the back of her neck to hold Aelin in place when he kissed her. His lips were warm and soft against hers, and Aelin sighed in complete happiness as she hugged his neck. She could feel the smile on his lips, all the love and happiness he was feeling in that kiss.
“You’re pregnant?”
She nodded cheerly, her eyes watering again. Her tears started falling the same moment a single one fell from Rowan’s eye. “Two months, Ro. And they’re fine, healthy and big and strong.” She laughed, kissing him again. “We’re going to have two more kids, Ro.” She showed him the picture of the ultrasound, the two little things laying next to each other.
He grabbed the picture with one had, staring at it in awe. When his eyes fell upon Aelin’s face, the expression changed to so much love and adoration it knocked the air out of her lungs.
He boomed a loud and happy laugh, standing up with her in his arms and sweeping around. Aelin was laughing, her arms tight around his neck. “I love you. I love you so much, fireheart. I love you so fucking much sometimes I think I’ll combust from it.”
She was crying again, holding onto Rowan as if he was her life line. “I love you too, Ro. I love you so much that just looking at your face makes me loose my breath. I love you so much that I think it’s impossible to love you more, but it happens every day.” Aelin kissed him, euphorically and sloppy.
“The two of you are disgusting. Find a room, for fuck’s sake.” Nino said from where he was standing at the stairs, Aurora in his arms. She was beaming at her parents, and Rowan held Aelin with one arm as he extended the other one to their kids.
Nino smiled and went up to his father, hugging his side as Aurora threw herself at him. She was blabbering about the babies, about being an older sister and Rowan, Aelin and Nino were quietly laughing at her. Aelin, still holding one of Rowan’s hand, pulled Nino into a hug. “Thank you for going with me, Nino. You’re the best son I could ever dream of.”
His cheeks turned a shade of pink but he hugged his mom back, looking at his father. “I knew first.”
Rowan faked impatience, narrowing his eyes. The intimidating effect was completely ruined by Aurora in a pink tutu in his arms, pulling his hair in all directions. “You’ve gloated already, boyo.”
“I’ll never let you forget.” Nino was grinning, his arm around Aelin’s shoulder. She bit her lip to hold her laughter.
“Gods help me.” Rowan muttered.
“You could even say I am mom’s favorite man in the house.”
“You’re asking to get grounded.”
“Lost your position, old man.”
Rowan rolled his eyes. “How was your math test?”
“Actually,” Nino said, taking his arm off his mom’s shoulder and backing up a step. “You can have the favorite man position.”
“Nino Galathynius Whitethorn.”
“It’s all yours!” Nino shouted to his dad as he ran up the stairs.
Rowan looked exasperatedly at Aelin, and even with all her efforts she couldn’t keep her joyous laugh from escaping her lips.
“He gets being shit at math from his mother.” Aelin shrugged.
Rowan huffed a laugh. “The bunch of you will give me silver hair.”
“Dad!” Aurora shouted from his arms. “You already have silver hair, duh!”
This time, when Aelin’s laugh rang out, Rowan’s did too.

Douchebag - Carter Hart
Summary: The reader is the new sideline reporter. On her first day at work she meets Carter. He insults her for no reason and later makes up for it when he helps her at the right time.
Words: 2140

“You must be Y/n L/n! I’m Claude Giroux the team’s captain,” the significantly taller man ran to me as I was wandering through the hallway trying to decide whether it was a good idea to knock on the locker room’s door and introduce myself to the team or if it was way too daring. “It’s nice to meet you.” He added.
“That’s me!” I said with a nervous smile but relaxed once he smiled back at me. “Nice to meet you too. I was just about to go and introduce myself to the team.”
“Then we have the same way,” he said with a smile and started walking towards the locker room. I happily followed him with more courage than I would have if I had to do it alone. After all, it was better to come together with their captain than to knock on their door and disturb them. “Boys listen up please,” Claude said loudly once we entered the room. All eyes immediately focused on my and everyone waited for either for me or Claude to explain what was going on. Claude looked at me and with an encouraging smile, he gave me the signal to talk.
“Hey guys,” I said with a wide smile to mask my nervousness. I felt like a student who had to introduce herself on the first day of school which was usually my biggest fear. All the players I’ve adored for years were now looking at me as I stood in their locker room as if it wasn’t a big deal. “I’m Y/n L/n, the new sideline reporter. I just wanted to introduce myself since we're going to see each other quite often.” The boys greeted me and welcomed me with more excitement than I expected but I felt grateful I was going to work with so many amazing people.
A couple of minutes later it was time for me to get ready for my first live broadcast. Stress was replaced by excitement and excitement was replaced by fear and doubt. The emotions left and came back quickly, and I was getting lost in myself. I was supposed to feel only joy and happiness. It was the day my dream finally came true, it was the day I would do my first live reportage and the day I could finally and officially call myself a sideline reporter which was something I prayed ever since I was little. The crew was nice and friendly and all the players and hockey staff I met so far, we're just as friendly. I knew everything was going to work out well.
“That’s it for now but make sure to watch another live update from the Wells Fargo Center today at 4 pm!” I said with a smile and the moment I got the signal that told me the camera was off I finally took a deep breath and relaxed.
“You did great Y/n! Congrats on a perfect first day at work.” The cameraman smiled at me and the rest of the crew was quick to follow with the gratulations.
Soon I was left alone at the ice rink with three players who stayed a little longer while everyone else left immediately after their morning skate ended. “Oh, hello! You must be Y/n the new sideline reporter,” to my surprise I saw the three players coming slowly but surely closer to me. “I’m Nols and this is Travis and Carter.” Nolan introduced himself and his companions. He and Travis shook my hand and hugged me as a friendly gesture while Carter only mumbled something under his breath and didn’t bother to even look up at me. “We heard you already met the boys, so we thought it was only fair to introduce ourselves since we were late.”
The conversation went smoothly, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was talking to old friends I haven’t seen for a while. They asked me about my life and about my first day at work while I asked them about their feelings from the upcoming game. Carter didn’t talk unless he had to and when he did, he usually didn’t say more than three words. He was the only person who made me feel I was not welcomed with his snarky comments, but I always shook it off thanks to Nols and TK who were both funny and nice.
“I think we should get going. We have a meeting in a bit,” Travis said as he looked at the time on his phone. “It feels really good to have you here Y/n! Am I right boys?” He turned to the boys and while Nolan nodded with a smile Carter didn’t look impressed at all. “What do you think, Hart?”
“Oh please! Just another naive chick who thinks she’s gonna charm one of us enough to date her,” he said rolling his eyes. “You’re gonna stand in my way all day or what? That’s definitely not going to impress me.”
“Well, I can assure you all that this definitely isn’t the reason why I am here,” I paused to take a deep breath and continued. “Just as I’m in no way interested in standing in the way of some douchebag,” I said to Carter with a sweet smile and then stepped aside so he could walk away. He didn’t say anything and left.
“We’re sorry about him,” Travis said. “He’s in a bad mood all day. But don’t let that scare you.”
“You should grab a drink with us on Friday! Others are coming too, and it’d be a great way to meet everyone. Noir bar on Passyunk Ave at 10!”
“I’ll be there,” I answered and watched them leave.
I left the arena and sat down on the bench just a few feet away from the entrance to take a break and process everything that happened throughout the day. I tried my best not to think of Carter and his unfriendly behavior however my thoughts always went right back to him. Carter seemed to be nice to everyone, to his teammates, to the staff and fans however when it came to me he was cold and I didn’t understand why. This was our first encounter; the first time we talked or saw each other so logically he had no reason to dislike me. The remarks had, the sarcastic laugh I heard whenever I said something, the way he rolled his eyes at me or the tone in his voice when he talked to me; it was enough to make me nervous about all future encounters with him.
“And there you are again standing in my way,” the cold tone of his voice disturbed me from my thoughts and made me jump a little because he scared me. Why it couldn’t be anyone else? Anyone but him. “Are you gonna state at me like that it will you move away?”
“What’s your problem? There are other benches where you can sit,” I said pointing out at all the benches that weren’t taken.
“It’s my spot,” he answered with a smile. “And if I’m not wrong then I work here longer than you so it’s only fair you leave when I tell you to.”
“You talk like this to everyone? Or just to girls?” I asked genuinely wanting to know if this was the usual way, he talked to people or if only girls received this from. I couldn’t imagine him acting like this towards his teammates and other men but then again nothing’s impossible.
“Just the ones who hang out around here acting like they own this place.”
“Says the guy arguing about a stupid bench,” I chuckled. “Have a nice day Hart.” I waved at him and left. Arguing with him seemed useless anyway.
...
The Noir bar was a small and low key place and way too crowded for my taste however I couldn’t expect it to be empty on a Friday night. Everyone seemed to be drinking beer and so I ordered one for myself and joined the boys. Carter was there as well but he didn’t say a single word to me, and I could only hope he decided not to acknowledge my presence at all. I had no desire to talk to him as everyone was more than friendly to me. Everyone including the girlfriends accepted me to their group and in just a few minutes I felt like I was with a group of friends I knew for many years.
“Gonna get some more beer,” I announced as I stood up and slowly made my way through the crowd to the bar.
I sat down on the bar chair as I waited occasionally talking to the barman.
“Here alone pretty face?” A male voice said from behind him and I felt him sit down right next to me. “I could keep you good company honey. And not just here in the bar.” He continued as he slowly placed his hand on my thigh. I looked up at him; he had a sleazy look on his face, his gray and balding head made me think he was much older than I was, he smelled like alcohol and cigarettes and his clothes were dirty.
“Not interested,” I mumbled and removed his hand from my leg. He chuckled and tried to place his hand back, but I stopped him once again. “And I mean it,” I added with much more seriousness.
“Don’t act like that sweetie,” he smiled at me and got closer to me. “You look like you love it rough.” He whispered.
“You didn’t hear me or what?” I said loudly. A few heads turned around, but no one cares enough to come and help me get the man away from me.
“You sweet little innocent girls always say that, but do you ever really mean it?” He laughed. “You’ll like it I promise.” He places his hand in mind this time and then quickly grabbed it which got me back on my feet. He held my hand tightly and started pulling me closer to his sweating body.
“I think she’s not interested,” another man said from behind. I couldn’t see him, but his voice was very familiar, much younger and softer than the man’s voice who was still holding my hand. “In fact, the whole bar heard she’s not interested.” He added after a while. He pushed the man away from which finally met him let go of my hand. He almost fell on the floor which seemed to get him angry. I then looked behind me to see my rescuer and to my surprise I found Carter standing there. He looked angry and his hands were in fists as if he was expecting a fight.
“Ohh, what you’re gonna do huh? You’re still a little kid and girls like her are for the proper man.” He laughed as he looked at Carter. The man was older however Carter was much taller, and I didn’t doubt he was also much stronger. “Come here, angel.” He told me and grabbed my hips. He almost kissed me, but Carter pushed me aside and hid me behind himself and then he punched the man into his face. The man fell down this time and when he got back to his feet his nose was bleeding. He seemed to think whether he should do the same to Carter but in the end, he left. I heard him mumble something under his breath, but I didn’t care at all.
“Are you okay?” Carter looked at me and checked for any signs of injury. I nodded and sat on the bar chair once again taking a sip of the cold beer that was waiting for me.
“I’m okay,” I said. “Thanks to you.” I smiled at him and for the first time, he smiled at me back. His face looked more friendly now.
“I came to apologize when I heard you and saw him touch you,” he said nervously. “I wanted to apologize for my behavior a few days back. I know there’s no excuse for it but I was in a really bad mood that day and well I took it out on you.”
“That’s alright I guess,” I said. “We all have bad days.” Normally I wouldn’t accept his apology this quickly and I would wait to see if he was serious or not but considering he was the only one to help me and saved me from that man I didn’t need any other proof or reason to forgive him.”
“I also wanted to ask if you’d go on a date with me? I’d like to prove I’m really not such a jerk.” He laughed.
 Does that mean I charmed you enough to date me?” I joked. “I’d love to go on a date with my savior.”

Prologue Ch.1 Ch.2
Tumblr media
           Nate was halfway to his apartment when his phone rang; an incoming call from his captain. “What’s up?” he asked as he answered.
           “Where have you been? I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for the past hour,” Gabe asked. Nate now realized that he had seen all those calls and texts, but after getting your number he forgot about them. He cleared his throat.
           “Sorry Landy. I was at the rink with Y/N,” he stated, unsure of what the captain’s response would be. When Gabe remained quiet, Nate became a bit nervous. “You there?”
           “Y/N? As in Coach Y/L/N, Y/N?” he asked, and Nate could hear Gabe’s amusement over the phone.
           “Yes,” he answered shortly. Gabe laughed.
           “What happened? Practice ended 3 hours ago, what have you guys been doing…or do I even want to ask?” Gabe said suspiciously.
           “It was nothing like that. I heard someone still on the ice when I was about to leave and went to see who it was. It turned out to be Y/N and she was just skating around and asked me to skate with her,” Nate explained as he pulled into his apartment complex.
           “Oh, so she’s just Y/N now? Seems like you two got close,” Gabe chuckled. Nate groaned as he parked. Maybe telling Landy wasn’t the smartest thing. “Please tell me you at least asked for her number or something before you left.”
           “I did actually. I asked her as we were leaving,” Nate said, quieter than he needed to.
           “Wow, okay. She’s definitely got you interested, doesn’t she?” Gabe sounded amused on the other end. Nate mumbled out a yes, knowing he wasn’t going to be living this down anytime soon. He was happy with the little progress he made with you, but now he was sure Landy would look for any reason to bring you around, not that Nate wouldn’t enjoy seeing more of you anyways though. “Well, I guess that brings me to why I was calling in the first place. Mel and I are taking Linnea on a hike on Sunday and we’re inviting some of the guys to go since everyone is pretty much back in town. I was inviting you, and I think you should see if Y/N wants to come. I don’t think she really knows anyone here yet, and Mel wants to meet her. After I tell her about your afternoon she’s going to be dying to meet her,” Gabe chuckled. Nate perked up hearing that he had a legitimate excuse to text you right away, instead of trying to play it cool.
           “Yeah, I can ask her,” he said, a little too eagerly.
           “Great! And make sure you pick her up. She doesn’t need to drive when she doesn’t know where anything really is,” Gabe suggested, knowing his friend lacked skills in the romance department. Nate rolled his eyes, but he was grinning at the thought of seeing you away from the rink.
           “I know Landy. I’ll text her and see. I’ll let you know,” he said as he entered his apartment and plopped down onto his couch, saying goodbye as his captain became distracted by his daughter.
           On the other side of the city, you had fallen onto your own couch and immediately got on facetime. “Superstar! How are you doing sweetie?” Jeremy asked.
           “I think I just gave Nathan MacKinnon my number,” you said in one breath, throwing a pillow over your head. Jeremy laughed.
           “You think?” he asked. You threw the pillow off and looked at him.
           “I gave him my number. I stayed after to skate and he was still there and I have no idea where I got the courage but I asked him to skate with me and I taught him some skating, he taught me some hockey, and it was just really fun and then he asked me for my number…” you rambled off.
           “Hey, deep breath Y/N. That sounds like you both had a nice time. And is it really so bad to give an attractive hockey player your number?” Jeremy tried to be sympathetic because he could see the wheels spinning in your head. He had known you for too long to not know where this was going.
           “He’s on the Avs though Jer. I’m technically his coach. How is that ever going to work?” you asked.
           “I don’t know Y/N, I wish I could tell you. But it seems like you are starting to like this guy, and if he likes you too then I’m sure you can figure it out. Don’t overthink it. I’ve seen you do that a few times, always putting your career first. And although that worked then, you can’t keep running from everything outside of the rink,” Jeremy tried to reason with you.
           “I know,” you said, knowing he was right.
           “And know that whatever does or does not happen, I will be here as your biggest supporter,” he said. You smiled at him.
           “Thanks Jer. Sorry, I don’t know why I freaked out,”
           “Because you are starting to like him,” Jeremy smirked. Your phone chimed and you briefly caught the text from a number you didn’t know at the top. Tapping on it, you saw that it was from Nate. Before you could read anything else, Jeremy laughed. “And I’m guessing that is him?” You nodded.
           “I guess some of the team are going on a hike Sunday and he wants to know if I want to go,” you stated, your smile growing.
           “I want to hear all about this hike when you get home,” Jeremy said. “Hang up with me and text your Doug Dorsey back.”
           “This is not the premise of Cutting Edge,” you laughed at his mention of one of the main characters. Jeremy shrugged.
           “He’s a hockey player. You’re a figure skater. Close enough,” he said, before saying goodbye as he had to run to a team meeting. You hung up and opened up Nate’s text.  It read: Hey Y/N, it’s Nate. Some of the guys are going on a hike on Sunday and I was wondering if you would like to join us? Mel, Gabe’s wife, is going and he said she’s been wanting to meet you. If you have plans no worries. Just thought I would ask. You smiled, seeing as you had no plans for the weekend beside finishing unpacking and would rather spend some time getting to know the team better…and Nate.
Y/N: Hi! That sounds like fun. I would love to go as long I wasn’t intruding on a team thing. You answered. You were a little worried that your presence would be unwelcomed, being a coach. Your phone pinged with another message.
Nate: No you wouldn’t be. You were about to reply when a text bubble popped up, and the following appeared. I would like for you to be there. You were happy this wasn’t in person as your face became flushed.
Y/N: When and where? 😊 Nate texted you to be ready at 9am on Sunday, and told you where you would be going. He said he would pick you up, and you gave him your address. And as the day continued, you continued to talk with him. Saturday came, and neither of you had technically said goodbye as you fell asleep texting him the night before, so Nate didn’t feel like it was too much, too soon to continue your conversation the next morning. You were giddy when Sunday morning came and you were getting ready. You felt that you had gotten to know him a little more and were excited to spend some more time with him. Right on time at 9 in the morning, there was a knock on your door. You looked in the mirror, fixing your hair quickly before answering it. Nate stood there in basketball shorts and a t-shirt, holding two cups of Starbucks. “Good morning,” he smiled as he handed one to you.
           “Morning!” you replied as you took a sip, humming contently as you tasted the pumpkin spice latte. “Is this why you asked what I liked from Starbucks?” Nate shrugged as you turned away to grab your jacket off the back of your couch.
           “I’m just hoping you’ll forget about making me do those extra laps tomorrow,” he teased as he looked around your apartment. It was small, but not too small, with a few boxes still sitting in the corner. “Are you still not unpacked?” You let out a sigh.
           “I have too much crap. I need another bookshelf,” you shook your head and took another sip, exiting your apartment. “But flattery will get you everywhere in my book. I may overlook your extra laps.” Nate chuckled as you locked the door behind you and followed him to visitor parking. You blushed slightly as he held the passenger door to his car open for you. The both of you sat in comfortable silence for a moment as he started to drive, enjoying your coffee. “So, who’s all going today?” You finally asked.
           “Landy and Mel, Tyson, Burky, and Cale I believe. Landy invited pretty much everyone since we’re all back in town, but I think everyone else was busy,” Nate explained. You nodded.
           “Well I’m excited. Thanks for inviting me to tag along,” you smiled over at him.
           “Of course,” Nate smiled over at you quickly. You kept casual conversation as you made it to the outskirts of Denver and what looked like would be a pretty hike to an overlook. Nate parked and off to the side you saw Gabe with a beautiful woman and a toddler in one of those carrier packs standing under a tree. As you made your way over, Nate leaned down and whispered. “Don’t let Gabe start showing you pictures of Linnea; you’ll be sitting there for like 3 hours.” You giggled, catching the attention of Gabe. The woman who you assumed was his wife, turned also and smiled widely.
           “You must be Coach Y/L/N. I’m Mel, it’s nice to meet you!” She said, pulling you into a side hug as to not squish her daughter.
           “Y/N. It’s nice to meet you too!” You replied, barely missing the not so subtle wink Gabe sent Nate.
           “Hey Coach, glad you could join us” Gabe said, “This is our daughter Linnea,” he introduced the little blonde haired, blue eyed girl. You smiled at her tired little face.
           “She’s absolutely adorable!” You squealed looking at the little girl. You weren’t necessarily a kid person yet, still being in your early 20s, but this little one was just too cute! Just then the others showed.
           “Eww who invited our coach?” Tyson grinned at you. You made a face at him, about to respond before Gabe beat you to it.
           “I’d rather have her here than you,” he said as Tyson feigned hurt. The others laughed and after greetings were exchanged you all started to walk. As the guys walked ahead, you walked along with Mel and Linnea.
           “So how are you liking Denver?” she asked cheerily.
           “The weather is a nice change from SoCal, that’s for sure,” you let out a soft laugh. “I’ve really only been to like the rink and the grocery store, so I haven’t been able to explore much more than this. I was happy when Nate invited me to hike with you guys so I could see a bit more,” you smiled.
           “We should go get lunch then one day, and go shopping! If you would like to. I know hanging around the rink with the guys gets a little old,” she said sincerely, and you couldn’t help but feel excited at the possibility of making a new friend.
           “That sounds like fun! I’m not used to being around this much testosterone.”
           “Yeah they are terrible sometimes.” You both started to laugh, catching the attention of the guys in front of you. You locked eyes with Nate, and blushed slightly under the grin he was sending you. Tyson walked over to the two of you and slung his arm around your shoulders.
           “Coach, I have a question…” you looked at him apprehensively and he gave you a sly grin. “Who is your favorite so far?” Nate you automatically thought, but were nervous to say out loud.
           “Well it’s definitely not you,” you replied, shrugging off his arm to the chirps of everyone else.
           “I bet it’s Nate,” Andre spoke up with a grin, Nate shooting him a look. You tried to think of something quick to say, seeing as Nate was looking as uncomfortable as you were starting to feel.
           “No, he has extra laps to skate tomorrow,” you tried to joke, hoping to ease Nate. It worked, he grinned at you and chuckled.
           “You don’t even know if you can enforce that,” he teased back.
           “I will figure it out!” you yelled back dramatically. The rest of the walk went like that, with the guys chirping one another, and dragging you and Mel into it. At some point after talking a bit to Cale, you ended up next to Nate as your little group came to a stop at a look out point. The trees were turning color with the season and everything looked pristine and beautiful. When Mel suggested taking a group picture. You automatically started to back up and were about to offer to take the picture when Nate gently placed his hand on your back.
           “Your part of this group too. Don’t be trying to sneak off,” he smiled at you. You were about to reply that it was okay when Andre spoke up.
           “Yeah Coach. Grace our picture with your Olympic winning smile.” He said, sending you a wink. You laughed and shook your head.
           “Oh God. That one hurts my face,” you admitted. You were known for always smiling throughout your routines. Even if you fell, you kept your smile. By the end of a four in a half minute long program though, that smile usually felt forced and plastered, even if it didn’t look that way. Andre turned his camera around as a selfie and held it up since he was the tallest. You were toward the back with Nate, his hand still on your back and you stood on your toes to try to be taller, your short frame looking incredibly small next to the larger bodies around you. After the picture was taken and sent to everyone, you and Mel exchanged numbers as you all continued the hike back to your cars. It was just after 1pm and you all decided to get lunch. You enjoyed your time with everyone and were starting to feel like Denver could be home. After lunch, Nate drove you back to your apartment. You were slightly sad the day was coming to an end. He parked and insisted on walking you up to your apartment, even though you assured him it wasn’t a big deal. Opening your front door, he eyed your still packed boxes again.
           “You know, I could help you put together a book shelf if you’d like,” Nate said, face flushing a bit. You thought it was adorable, someone as large as him flustered.
           “That’s kind of you, but I have to go buy one first,” you smiled at him. He shrugged.
           “I can go with you. You might need help carrying it,” he smirked and you let out a laugh.
           “Wow, I think you are just really trying to get out of doing those laps tomorrow,” you shook your head.
           “Are you really going to make me do those?” he asked, leaning against your door frame.
           “I’m not sure yet, I haven’t decided,” you shrugged, making him chuckle. You looked up at him and couldn’t help but smile, the thought that someone might actually care about you as a person, and not because of your accolades filling you with immense joy. He was offering to help you build a bookcase after all. “I might just take you up on that offer though.” Nate smiled and pushed himself off your door frame and extended his arms to you. You gave him a hug and have never felt quiet as safe so quickly as his large frame enveloped you.
           “I’ll see you tomorrow Coach,” he said as he pulled away from you and winked.
           “Have a good night Nate,” you smiled. As he walked away you shut your door. Walking further into your apartment, you plopped down on the couch and got your phone out of your bag. You saw you had a few new followers on Instagram, some from the team and a few of their significant others. Mel had tagged you in a picture, and you saw it was the one you had all taken, along with one of just her, Gabe and Linnea. You went and posted the picture as well, captioning it “I’m not sure what I like about Denver better. This team, or the view?”
           You busied yourself the rest of the day and checked your Insta around dinner again. There was a comment from Tyson. “This team is the view.” You couldn’t help but laugh and be thankful that you ended up in Denver.

Perchance to Meet pt. 5
...hey...how yall doing??
Pairing: Aizawa Shouta x fem!Reader
Warnings: some angst, assault although slight it’s still there, be careful of the company you keep
Part 6
Masterlist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sports festival came and went in flash, despite not being able to see as well as he would have liked. Aizawa was incredibly proud of his students, regardless of how unorthodox and rambunctious they all were. Heck, he even found a potential protégé from the general studies course that he couldn’t wait to tell-
Oh that’s right.
The extra key that was thrown at him weighs heavier in his pocket as Present Mic helps him walk away from the sound booth. It’d been two weeks since he’d last seen (Y/n) and heard from her. The man isn’t surprised, he did use all the stops to make her leave, break her in a way that only those close to her had the ability to. Did he mean all the words he had said to her? Hell no. He had been trying to put her first, something new and unfamiliar in his life, but the safety of his students and his job as an underground hero came first. And she knew that. At least, that’s what he tells himself.
He’s doing his best to act like everything is okay, which isn’t hard for the stoic man to do. But those closest to him know how much he’s really hurting. Aizawa figured moving on to the sports festival was not only best for the school but for his students and the well being of others around him. He knew it would be a tough decision; placing the woman he loved more than anything behind his career and livelihood was a choice he never thought he had to make.
He didn’t even hesitate to put his own feelings aside for the good of everyone else. He didn’t hesitate to hurt the one person who fell into life and fit into it so easily; did it like it was nothing.
The tears he doesn’t shed are the most painful ones he feels within his heart. And that feeling will keep nicking at him until he does something or they fade away. He silently hopes for the latter.
**********
It was hard seeing him on every television. The U.A. sport festival was a sight sorely to be missed. (Y/n) knew that he taught class 1-A so it was nice to finally see them, but why couldn’t she had been there with him? Why couldn’t she have been there to support and celebrate his students like she wanted to do? Frustration evident on her face as she quickly turns the tv off in her apartment.
She hears a scoff behind her and remembers that Kona decided to help around the shop that day. “Hun, staring holes into the tv isn’t gonna let him know you’re angry.” She hmphs at her friend and abruptly turns off the screen.
“You’re lucky I invited you up here.”
“I wasn’t gonna let you sit and mope around forever. Not when I know we need to talk about a certain someone who’s been visiting the store almost once a week.”
“Can we not talk about him as I just saw my ex on television?”
Kona laughs and shakes his head, “I mean, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone so…” He eyes his superior smugly, knowing full well that she has considered it. A throw pillow catches his face by surprise as he now tastes cloth and velvet on his tongue. Kona growls at (Y/n) and flicks her off as he moves to her kitchen.
He hears her sigh from the couch as she sinks lower into the cushions. “It’s not like I haven’t thought about it… It’s just,” she pauses as her eyes begin to sting with threatening tears, “Shit.”
Warm tears are falling freely down her face as the hurt settles in again. “Fuck, I’m sorry for crying again,” she feels Kona hug her awkwardly from behind the couch and hears him shush and coo her. It’s hard for him to not want to cry too when he feels the sobs shake her body.
“There’s nothing for you to be sorry for. You’re hurt, and that’s not okay with me. I honestly didn’t think he would be there…” He trails off trying to gauge her emotional state at the moment. “Fuck, (Y/n) I had no idea you loved him that much, sweetie.”
She merely nods, knowing that’s all she can do at the moment.
“Hey,” he whispers, “why don’t I take some of the load off of you for the next couple of weeks?”
She turns quickly to face him, shock and awe in her eyes. “No Koko you can’t. I’ve got to work here and at the bar and-“
“And I don’t give a shit.” He snapped out that last part to notate his seriousness.  “You’ve worked harder than anyone I know.
“Take a break.”
********************
Hizashi Yamada does his best to not show his true and underlying emotions. He’s done his best to keep up his loud persona around his best friend in order to have some sort of normalcy. He knows normalcy won’t ever happen again, not with all the villain attacks and personal life issues that keep showing up. Hizashi can see in those dark pits Aizawa calls eyes that he isn’t okay.
But now that he sees him on television with their principal trying to keep the peace about one of his own students getting kidnapped, it’s more than obvious shit has hit the fan.
The blond knows all too well that his friend won’t open up about his choice to be alone. The choice he made months ago that has affected almost every aspect of his life but won’t readily admit it. Sure, his hero work, teaching, and side lessons with Shinso have been going exceptionally well but he’s not the same man he was a year ago. Hell, even five months ago.
Present Mic is fully aware that the kidnapping of one of his students broke him. Correction, it broke him down further. For his years of teaching experience, Aizawa has never had a student kidnapped and taken from a school sanctioned event, never had to apologize for it on national television, and then going to each students’ home to apologize and ask more of them. His best friend is stressed out, without anyone to go to that isn’t enamored in his world or another hero.
Moving into the mandated school dorms was just another nail into the rickety and unstable mind that was Aizawa Shouta. He’ll never admit to it, but having all these changes happen in such a short time is taking a toll on him. The bags under his eyes have somehow become darker and more bruised. Hizashi isn’t sure of the last time his friend had shaved or properly slept, considering he did what he does best.
The overly tired man throws himself into his job, his students, and his hero work. To anyone on the outside he was back to himself, giving 110%, doing the most for the best outcome and doing it all with his signature stoic face. And he’ll push. He will push and push farther deep into his heart and soul the feelings he wants kept.
That he loves her, that he misses her, that he fucked up… But he will always do what’s right and what’s best for those around him.
When it came time for another break from the norm, Aizawa’s students along with the other first years of U.A., were set to go get ready for their provisional licenses. Even when he ran into Ms. Joke, usually he’d play into their “will they or won’t they” dating banter but couldn’t find it in himself to do it fully. He wanted to focus on his class’s success, fathoming their struggles thus far and understanding how important this all is to them.
He doesn’t mention how he had wanted to do this with (Y/n) but blows that thought away.
It’s for her safety, he thinks, it’s for her safety.
Hizashi knows that Aizawa misses (Y/n) and what she brought to his life without him knowing the full affects of it. He frowns, something rare to occur, as he thinks over the events of the last month or so. Now he’s really hoping that she’ll come back or that Shouta will come to his senses before things take a drastic turn.
*********************
“Kai, I can’t thank you enough for helping me out and being here. I know you’re not the biggest fan of crowds.”
(Y/n) had been suddenly called to bartend a private party one night, which is not her usual sctick. However when she realized she was called for by name, her mind reeled at who could’ve done this and filled with panic at the thought it might be another stalker. But when she had finished preparing the bar and was met with yellow golden eyes, her mind calmed.
“It’s not just crowds, it’s touching people and their quirks. I know you understand.”
She gives the man a hearty smile as she prepares sets of drinks for his cohorts. The addition of the plague mask was new to her as he had always worn a regular mask upon entering her store. Regardless of that weird nuance about him, (Y/n) continued her duties as a bartender and caregiver. The young woman doesn’t normally close because of her pulling double duty, but when her manager mentioned the extra money in this who was she to say no?
Keeping up with Kai throughout the night kept her sane, despite the strange aura his posse or gang or whatever gave her. She figured it was better to not use her quirk based on the company Kai keeps as a way to save her soul. Kona’s words are still fresh in her mind, despite them being from months ago. Sure, she’s considered Kai Chisaki as a possible rebound, but she didn’t want to hurt someone or be hurt in return. Besides, he told her about Eri, he helped her with both of her business money wise, and was kind; she’s not going to acknowledge the eeriness of personality that she couldn’t get a grip on.
The night presses on and the private party starts to wind down. “Alright friends, it’s 1:45 meaning it is now last call for drinks! Get them before I decide for you and the club closes.” Hoots and hollers are heard after her words which cause her to giggle at their antics. Unbeknownst to her, light gold eyes don’t leave her body. His glove clad hands pick at the fabric of his jacket and gloves as his mind wanders. He knows this woman keeps Eri happy, and if Eri is happy he gets what he wants. He also knows that this club has a back alley that is hidden from most prying eyes and knowing this woman is just a bonus.
Does he have feelings for her? No, he just knows that she is a good pawn in his plan. Which makes things harder as the night comes to an end.
Chisaki takes his mob at the end of the night and leaves the club. They head out to the back where they are meeting a client to exchange a new batch of quirk enhancing blood bullet and quirk eliminating, or balancing in his opinion. He’s proud of this particular batch, Eri was most responsive and useful all because she had some of her favorite books from her favorite person.
It also didn’t hurt that she was more obedient after their run in with some new and upcoming heroes.
The brunet hates waiting. He thinks of ending his clients life as the minutes tick by in the dark of night. His thoughts rub rampant as his impatience grows by the second. He’s suddenly nudged on the shoulder by Hari Kuruno, his only trusted friend, who alerts Kai of the incoming company. The deal goes without a hitch until Kai speaks up.
“You kept me waiting longer than I would’ve liked. A balance must be put in place.”
He then walks up to one of the client’s underlings, and uses his quirk on them. Blood splatters everywhere as his eyes are unchanging and intense. The whole scene is gruesome but Chisaki rationalizes that it is necessary to establish order and punishment.
However, in the midst of that he was unable to hear the back door of the club open and close.
A shrill and disgusted scream is heard by him and his men and they immediately turn toward the source. Golden eyes narrow at the interruption and scowls, if they could be seen, adorned the faces of his cohorts. He can see that the woman he had been keeping tabs on is shaking and conflicted. She’s seen everything, the exchange, the blatant murder; there’s even some blood on her cheeks.
“Chronostasis.”
All he had to do was say that name and (Y/n) suddenly felt immobile and deathly sick. What the fuck did she just see? There’s no way he’s a terrible person, no way… But she can’t deny what she saw. Her eyes dart left to right as she sees and feels no means of escape. A cold gloved hand grips her cheeks and forces her to look at the man who currently holds her fate.
“I, I won’t say anything I swear, just please let me go Kai!”
“That’s Overhaul to you.” He doesn’t even flinch or react to her crying or her huffing, as he continues to hold her face.
“I guess you’ll get your wish, you will be able to see Eri again.”
Darkness envelopes the young woman as she loses consciousness and her body is taken to an undisclosed location.
of diamonds and dry martinis [1]
Tumblr media
[harry styles au short story] [part one] [2133 word count]
[slight dirty talk] [read the complete series on my wattpad]
-----
She was lost; stuck as she always was in between reality and a dreamy haze.
Sometimes she thought she was watching herself from above, mostly when she mixed her Xanax with the Grey Goose martinis her husband would order for her wherever they went. Tonight was no different.
The men crowding her in the lobby of the opera house talked business as she stood fiddling with the white gold necklace that clung a notch too tight to her delicate neck. As she came in and out of the conversation around her, she thought of what the night would consist of.
Have a couple more drinks in the lobby, go in, sit and watch the show, get in the SUV, go to an after-party, have more drinks and gossip with the other ladies, go home, get in bed, sleep, wake up, repeat.
She blinked out of her trance when her husband grabbed her hand gently, smiling down at her. He was handsome no doubt, with his salt and pepper hair pushed back and his teeth bright white against the lights in the lobby. His skin was tanned deeply from countless trips to their summer home in Bora Bora, and his eyes crinkled at the sides softly when he smiled.
She met him when she was still working as an escort. He hired her from the agency she worked for, and he knew it was over from the moment he picked her up for a company party. She was one of those girls that wouldn't sleep with the client even if he was willing to pay buckets of cash for it; he loved that about her.
He paid her well every time he hired her. He took her on exclusive vacations to places she didn't even know existed, bought her bags from designers she had never even heard of, and gave her money she couldn't even dream of having. He told her he would take care of her if she resigned from her agency; he wanted her and would do anything to make sure no one else could have her.
After her resignation was in, he proposed. She moved into his multimillion-dollar home in The Hamptons and they had a lavish wedding that included upwards of three hundred guests.
"I have lots of friends," he explained to the wedding planner. "mostly from business, of course, but we can't do any less I'm afraid."
He was happy with her; or at least, happy having her. When he first brought her to the company party, all heads turned to them. She was stunning and held herself well when in the company of millionaires and tech moguls. The best part for him was her age. He was nearing his fiftieth birthday, with his friends and their wives somewhere around or above there.
She had just turned twenty-three, leaving the need for costly plastic surgery and routine dermatologist visits in the dust.
When he proposed to her, she was thrilled. He was nice enough, handsome, and promised to take care of her for the rest of her life. She had never imagined herself getting married and becoming a housewife, but she liked the idea of it. Until she was a year deep; that's when she realized she was living in her own personal hell.
"Another round of drinks, gentlemen?" A waiter asked courteously.
"Yes," one of the friends spoke up. He was much older than her husband, probably somewhere in his seventies. He was a trust fund baby from one of the biggest banks in America. "the same, everyone?"
Everyone agreed and the waiter walked off towards the bar on the side of the room.
"Say," her husband spoke up curiously to the group. "is the youngster coming tonight?"
"He should be," the oldest in the bunch pulled back his coat sleeve to look at his gaudy Rolex.
"Who's this?" She asked as she tucked her arm into her husband's against his chest.
"Some young guy," he said with a shrug. "new money; just moved here from London, I believe?"
"Met him at my tennis club," the oldest said with a smile. "real stand-up guy. He just bought a house in Southampton Village." He glanced over his shoulder when a bright smile lit up his face. "Well speak of the devil!"
That was when she knew it was over. His lean build was perfectly tucked into a tailored suit, made to fit him just right. His dark brunette hair was styled neatly, with signs of his natural curls peaking out around the top. He had a smile that could light up any room he walked into, adorned by a tiny dimple that would appear occasionally on his left cheek.
"Boys, meet Harold," the oldest said proudly as he shook his young friend's hand.
"Please, call me Harry," the handsome stranger said to the group. His voice was pure and utter sex to her ears. His accent was thick and his words lolled a tinge long. When he turned his head to shake hands with one of the friends, she noticed his sharp jawline that made her fingers twitch.
He turned to the couple, and his emerald eyes met hers first.
"Roger Stratton," her husband said as he shook his hand firmly.
"Nice to meet you," Harry said as he looked up at her husband.
"And this is my wife, Merci."
He extended his hand, and she took it in hers. She prayed he couldn't feel her clammy palms as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
"Pleasure," he purred as her eyes met his once more. Roger said the exact word Harry had hoped not to hear; wife. He'd broken up relationships in the past, but never a marriage. Like everything else in his life, he was always interested in a challenge.
"How's Southampton treating you?" Roger asked as the waiter approached with a tray full of drinks.
"Amazing," Harry said before giving the waiter his drink order. She accepted the martini glass from the waiter before handing her empty one back. "once I'm fully moved in I was planning on throwing a house warming party."
"Sounds wonderful," Roger said before taking a drink from his bourbon. "we live in Southampton as well, just along the coast."
"Wow," Harry nodded. "afraid I couldn't secure a coastline spot, but I bet that's a beautiful sight in the morning."
His eyes darted to Merci before flickering back up to Roger. She knew exactly what he was doing. Working as an escort for so long introduced her to many different types of men. He was the typical new money hotshot; young and dangerously alluring with an ego to kill.
She took a long drink from her martini glass. Nowadays, it took a lot to get her drunk. Since being with her husband, her life only ever consisted of parties fueled by expensive alcohol, days spent on a yacht with champagne, and vacations filled with tequila and screwdrivers.
"Sweetie," she spoke up to Roger. "I'm going to head to the restroom."
"The theatre is about to open," he said, motioning to the gold and maroon double doors ahead of them.
"I'll be back before it starts," she said before leaning up to plant a kiss on his stubbly cheek. "save me a seat."
"Absolutely,"
She maneuvered her way through the crowd of patrons waiting to find their seats, and God how he loved watching her walk. He couldn't help himself as his eyes trailed from her strappy black heels to the slinky gold dress that fell down her body like sexy drapes.
One of the first things he noticed about her was her jewelry. Her necklace was tight to her neck and sparkled bright, along with the massive rock adorning her ring finger. From this alone, he knew Roger had her locked in with money up to her eyes.
Her eyes, he thought.
There was something so oddly distant about the way her eyes had glassed over while her husband spoke. Her voice sounded trained; she knew what to say and how to say it at all times.
Years of being the sugar daddy's baby finally caught up with her, he thought.
She stood at the sink, washing her hands and drying them off before pulling her phone from her Louis Vuitton clutch.
Mom: Hi! Haven't heard from you in a while. We miss you down here! Give me a call sometime; maybe we can plan a little trip together!
She rolled her eyes before tossing her phone back into the clutch, a little more violently than she meant. The thought of her mother made her want to choke. It was a sob story, told through whispers at parties behind her back.
"Poor girl, she never really had a mother."
"Such a blessing that Roger saved such a beautiful girl from such a toxic environment."
"Do you think it messed her up?"
"Absolutely tragic."
Her mother was a junkie turned raging alcoholic. She bounced from boyfriend to boyfriend for all of Merci's life. She would bring random men into the house, then pass out from drinking too much; more often than not, leaving Merci alone with the ravenous wolves she brought home.
She knew she had to get out of Louisiana. After she graduated from high school and turned eighteen, she moved to New York with her cousin. That's when she found the escort agency, and that's where she met Roger, and the rest is history.
Ever since she made it out of the agency and her mother found out about her circumstances, it was as if she suddenly remembered she had a daughter. Merci knew exactly why her mother was contacting her and it made her sick.
She looked in the mirror at herself, dripping in diamonds and lavish fabric. She ran her tongue over her teeth before picking up the martini glass from the counter. She threw it back quickly and gave herself a once-over before leaving the bathroom.
She pushed the door open and nearly slammed it into Harry as he rounded the corner down the hall.
"I'm so sorry," she exasperated as she gripped the door. He let out a small chuckle while clutching his chest.
"All good," he said slowly. "the show's starting."
"Did you come to get me?" She questioned as she stepped out from the bathroom, letting the door close behind her. The boisterous sounds from the lobby had disappeared completely; it was just the two of them, alone in the darkened hall.
"Roger saw an old friend and got caught up," he said, motioning towards the lobby. "he asked me to let you know we were heading in."
She felt her phone vibrate in her clutch, and she clumsily reached down to pop the lock open. That's when it clicked in his mind.
"Are you high?"
"Excuse me?" She griped as her eyes shot back up at him, completely forgetting about the clutch.
"What's he got you on?" He asked as he slipped his hands into the pockets of his trousers. "Oxy? Perc?"
"I don't know what the hell you're talking ab-"
"No, not that," he hummed, his eyes lazily studying her. "Xan?"
Her mouth went dry as she huffed angrily.
"What makes you think that?"
"I know a broken woman when I see one," he said, taking a step closer to her as his eyes roamed down her body. "is that a Roger thing or a you thing?"
She studied his expression meticulously as they stood in an unbearable silence for a beat too long. His lips were parted gently as he breathed in her scent, loving every second of the undeniable sexual tension between them.
"You wanna fuck me, don't you?"
He was stunned by her seductive words as her lips rested together, plump and practically begging him to collide into her. He wasn't expecting this to happen so soon, but he was more than fine with it.
"It's not going to happen, hot shot," she purred into his ear, her hot breath on his neck as his eyebrows furrowed. "ever."
She pulled away from him with a smirk as his eyes met hers once again. She stripped him of every ounce of confidence he once held onto so firmly; something she had gotten dangerously good at after her first few clients.
She knew exactly what game he was trying to play with her, dying to use her as a pawn in his ego boosting ways. She had a feeling he had a few notches in his belt of girls he had swept off their feet, only to dispose of them when he got bored.
And she was right.
"Your tailor did a fantastic job with your fitting," she whispered. "I can see every inch of you."
Her eyes slid down to his pants before side stepping away from him to sashay down the hall towards the theatre. She tossed her hair over her shoulder, knowing his eyes would follow her until she was out of view.
He looked down at his pants; he was rock hard and it was showing. He mentally cursed himself before running a hand over his face and through his hair.
She was fun; dangerous, but fun.
She was exactly what he needed at a time like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
↬↬↬Word Count: 3.8K
↬↬↬Genre: Angst with a fluffy? Ending
↬↬↬Warning: Contains descriptions of a car accident ?
↬↬↬A/n: Hope this is okay for you sweetie, I had a lot of fun writing it whoops. Oh for the love of all things please someone help me come up with names I suck so bad at them ALSO: Please give me thoughts on the new headers?
Tumblr media
You knew it was wrong on all levels when it first started happening but it was like you always heard people say that it was just the heat of the moment, it felt too good to stop. You looked down into the mug of coffee and then back up to your best friend who was talking about her upcoming wedding, she was excited about it and she'd asked you to be her maid of honour.
"Are you even listening to me?" You stared back up at her and all you could see was him and the way he touched you and held you close to him. The way he would smile at you whenever you were together and the little things he would do when he thought you were asleep beside him,
"Y-Yeah, sorry. I didn't sleep much last night." You lied shaking your head to try and get out of your daydream. You guzzled down some of the coffee before taking the cup away to wash it, anything to stop you staring at your best friend, when the front door opened you almost smashing the mug in the stainless steel sink, Taehyung - her husband to be - walked through and came into the kitchen stopping when he saw you standing up to go to the kitchen sink.
"Oh, I didn't know she had guests. Nice to see you again, y/n?" He acted as though he didn't know you and it broke your heart into pieces.
"Yeah, sorry. I was just leaving I'm late for work. Text me the details and I'll arrange everything for your bachelorette party." You said to your best friend not being able to stand in the same room as them for too long.
"I'll walk you out," Taehyung mumbled and your best friend went back to planning the seating arrangements out for her wedding. You kept your head down until you reached the front door and then you felt Tae press his front against your back, pulling you closer to him and breathing close to your ear.
"Tae." You whispered hands clutching to the door handle as you felt him pressing his hard-on against your ass,
"We have to stop, we can't keep doing this to her." You murmured hoping that your best friend wouldn't come crashing into the hallway but she was too busy planning her dream wedding with her dream guy who coincidentally wasn't her dream guy because he was cheating on her with you, the best friend. Best friends since childhood and yet here you were betraying her trust and love but it wasn't like you could help it, you'd been in love with Taehyung since High School and never saw him again. It wasn't until they got engaged that you met him and all of this started to happen, you both knew it was all types of wrong but who was to come in the way of true love, or what you thought was true love.
"It's not what you said last night, or when we started this." He mumbled in your ear, biting down on the lobe as he finished his sentence, your legs shook as you felt him this close to you and maybe it was the thrill of getting caught or just being with him once again but you needed him.
"You said you loved me," He whispered into your ear and you felt your stomach churn and your eyes water as you heard him say it to you so coldly.
"I'm late for work." You pushed yourself away from him and left through the front door leaving him standing there shocked and gazing after you. Tears rushed to your eyes as you got to your car, you didn't want to hurt your best friend you had been through so much together but Taehyung was like a drug. He kept you coming back for more and more until you couldn't resist him anymore and you were crawling back to him for another fix. You were always telling each other one more time and that was it, it would be over but it was never over and you were both always left craving more.
You stared out of the windscreen trying to concentrate on driving instead of the first time you'd gone to Taehyung but your mind kept drifting to all of the memories and time you had together.
Tumblr media
"Y/n, I want you to meet my fiancée. Taehyung this is Y/n, y/n this is Taehyung." As soon as you looked up your heart stopped beating for a second, his gorgeous brown eyes were staring down into yours and you could have sworn the whole room faded away. When your friend had mentioned her fiancée Taehyung you assumed it would be someone else but not the Kim Taehyung that you had been in love with since High School.
"Nice to meet you Taehyung." You replied cooly shaking his hand and watching as he wrapped his arm around your best friend and kissed her cheek. He was dressed up in a black suit while your best friend was wearing a white cocktail dress that made her look irresistible to everyone in the room no wonder they were together, the perfect couple perfect for each other both inside and out.
"I'm going to get a drink." You mumbled to your friend turning around and heading towards the bar, Taehyung gazed after you wondering where he knew you from and why you seemed to be anxious around him, it was going to bug him all night until he found out where he knew you from.
"How do you know y/n again?" He asked as he twirled a piece of his fiancée's hair around his finger smiling down at her as she gazed up into his eyes.
"Friends from childhood, we sort of drifted in High school because she attended somewhere else," She went on to explain which school you moved to and that was when it hit him and he knew you.
"Want something to drink?" She nodded and Taehyung left her going over to the bar and standing beside you.
"Oh. Hi." You laughed nervously as you felt him standing beside you, while you were staring at the drinks in front of you Taehyung was staring down at you trying to size you up and figure out what was going on inside of your head.
"Hey, I know where I know you from now." You swallowed the lump that was beginning to form in your throat and hummed trying not to seem afraid of him when you felt his hand on your lower back and your heart rate quickened.
"We went to school together, you were the geeky little nerd that had the biggest crush on me." He was standing so close to you that you could smell his cologne and you could feel his breath next to your neck,
"Must have me confused with someone else." You whispered it had been years since you were in school and yet the silly little high school crush you'd worked so hard to get over was still effecting you this badly.
"See I don't think I do." He smirked at the sight of the vein in your neck pumping quickly and he knew it was you,
"Look, I found it cute," He reached out and moved some of your hair out of your face and you glanced over at him for a second, allowing yourself to imagine what it would be like to be with him before turning to the barman and ordering a drink.
"Thanks." You mumbled taking the glass and practically downing the liquid courage before leaving Taehyung at the bar alone and going to find your other friends that had been invited to the party.
 "My husband owns a car company." Your best friend had dragged you over to introduce you to her new work friends and you had spent the last twenty minutes listening to them all drown on about their partners and lovers, where they lived and what they were doing with their homes.
"What about you Y/n? What does your husband do?" You choked on the drink you were attempting to swallow and your best friend started laughing playfully before teasing you,
"Oh y/n doesn't have a husband-"
"Oh...Wife?" The blonde that had been talking about the car company questioned and you shook your head again going to speak for yourself when your best friend did.
"Never been one for finding true love have you?" You ignored their giggles and laughter by downing the rest of your drink and excusing yourself to go and buy another one from the bar.
"Might want to slow down." You glanced over to see Taehyung standing beside you again and you groaned, the alcohol in your system giving you the sudden confidence boost to stand up to him and actually speak.
"I can do what I want. Why are you over here and not with your fiancée?" He chuckled as you slurred a little on your words, it was funny seeing the one he knew as geeky and quiet suddenly standing up for themselves and making it known that you didn't want him there beside you.
"I think you've had too much to drink." The barman walked away when he got the look from Taehyung and you scoffed rolling your eyes and him and walking away going back to your best friend and let her know you were going to go home.
"Are you sure you'll be okay? Tae!" Taehyung came bonding over with a smile on his face greeting his fiancée with a kiss on the lips earning an 'awe' from all her friends.
"Will you take them home? I don't want them to get into any trouble." Taehyung agreed and you tried not to act disgusted in front of your best friend giving her a hug and ignoring the lingering looks you were getting from her co-workers as you walked away from them with Taehyung by your side.
 The apartment was spinning when you sat down on your bed and you looked to see Taehyung had followed you into your bedroom,
"You didn't have to walk me to my room." You told him sobering up by the minute, you'd chugged a bottle of water in his car and the influences of the alcohol were starting to wear off you and you were coming back to reality once again.
"I want to make sure you got in okay." You nodded at him and clapped your hands together looking around your room,
"I got in okay, you can leave now." You got up and started backing him towards the bedroom door when he wrapped his arms around your waist and looked down at you taking in a deep breath,
"I can see that but do you really want me to leave?" Your answer should have been no, it should always be no he was engaged to your best friend but your mind was spinning and your world was on fire at the way he was holding you.
"I thought so." He whispered leaning down before placing his lips on yours, all at once, your body kicked into hyperdrive your arms wrapping around the back of his neck so your hands could tangle into his hair as though it was a natural thing for you to do. His hands sat on your waist pushing you back towards the bed where he laid you down and began kissing down your neck - be careful not to leave love bites anywhere since you were expected to go out tomorrow - he smirked when you let out a whine and he took it as an encouragement to keep going. Your mind was blank except for only thoughts of him images of him being engaged were gone and all you could picture was you and him together all night, he pulled away from your neck and cupped your cheek in his hand running his thumb under your eye as you stared up into his pool of brown ones.
"You're so beautiful," He whispered bending down and reconnecting your lips once more his hands working to take off your clothes.
Tumblr media
"Fuck." You wiped the tears out from under your eyes as you reached the red light you stared up at the light waiting for it to turn green trying to ignore the pressing thoughts in your head begging you to think of Taehyung but you couldn't, your heart broke but not because you were leaving Taehyung behind at that house but because of what you had been doing for the last year and a half to your best friend without her knowledge. The light signalled that you could go and you continued driving trying to push down the thoughts of your last night together, the night before today when everything seemed perfect.
Tumblr media
Taehyung was drawing small invisible patterns into your naked back as you laid with your head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. You were laid together in some downtown motel just talking after a night of passion together, he was humming to you softly while asking you silly questions,
"It's your turn," He chuckled nudging you gently and you didn't even think before blurting your question out.
"Do you ever think about the future-" You stopped yourself as the memories of your best friend came to your mind, how she was waiting at home in their beautiful house waiting for him. You sat up bringing the sheets with you and you started looking around the room for your clothes,
"What's wrong?" He questioned frowning as you got out of the bed and began hopping around the room and searching for everything that he'd ripped off you earlier in the night.
"What's wrong?! Tae, this, us is what's wrong...We shouldn't...I should never have-" You began crying unable to control your emotions anymore and he helped you find your clothes which were scattered around the room.
"Y/n, talk to me about this don't just walk away." You stared down at his hand and then up to his face.
"In less than a month you will be married to her...do you feel that little for her?"
"What about you?! You're her best friend and yet here you are meeting me all the time..." You swallowed the lump in your throat you knew he was right and he was always going to be right.
"I love you and I love her which is why I'm stopping this...It ends tonight. No more meeting up, no more late-night sneaking out to fuck and no more seeing each other unless she's there." You mumbled and he watched as you pulled your hoodie on over your head and he stared at you hearing you say the words he'd been dying to hear from you but now he was frozen and didn't know what to do with it.
"Goodbye Tae." You slammed the motel door behind you and left to find your car sitting in the parking lot and drove yourself home for another night of laying alone and wishing he was there with you when he was really at home with his beautiful fiancée and planning his life together with her.
Tumblr media
There was no future for you and him and you'd made that clear when you questioned him about it that night, you shook your head pulling up to the next red light and stopping.
"Stop fucking crying, you're disgusting." You mumbled to yourself wiping your face and pulling out once the light was green then out of nowhere it was like someone had shaken you awake your body jerked from side to side as your forehead collided with the window and wheel that your hands were glued to the as you tried to control your slipping car but it was no use, the car was spinning out of control and you hit the pavement sending the car spinning into the ditch below you.
"Shit!" You screamed out as your head hit the glass window again giving you an instant headache and sent blood trickling down the side of your head. The seatbelt was tugging on your skin and the airbag that had deployed was hurting your head as you tried to move but it was no use. The seatbelt was caught in its place and you could smell toxic fumes leaking from your car,
"HELP!" You screamed out begging that someone would be around to help you,
"Hello!?" You heard a rough voice call out before coughing,
"Hey! Hey! Down here! Help!" You called out seeing a pair of legs at the top of a small hill, you must have rolled into a ditch and the man called out that he was going to help you out.
"Can you get out?" His voice was fading in and out of your hearing and your head was starting to spin, you knew you were going to pass out so you had to do something, anything, to keep you awake so you tried to talk to the man but your words were slurring and the world was starting to get darker with each passing second.
"Hey now, don't fall asleep on me. I'm right here, I'll get you out." He was beside your car door now and you looked up at him to see he was dressed in a fireman's outfit, your eyes closed heavily opening again to see Taehyung standing there and crying.
"Y/n! Stay awake! You can't sleep! Come on, I'll help you out!" You frowned looking at the man that you thought was Taehyung but was really a confused fireman wondering why you were staring at him without answering any of the questions he was asking you.
"Tae, I love you." You mumbled as you felt your eyes getting heavier,
"You can tell Tae that when you're out of here come on," The image of Tae slowly faded away and you were left with the fireman who was struggling to undo your seatbelt and the next thing you knew everything was fading away, the sounds of the metal cutters, the yelling of firemen, everything was fading until it was just gone.
Tumblr media
The irritable beeping is what woke you up first it was constantly there playing in the back of your head and you were trying to turn it off as though it was an alarm but when you went to move your arm you found that you couldn't, it was as if it was weighed down by something your eyes fluttered open to see someone laying their head on your arm you frowned before glancing around the room and noticing you were sitting in a bright white room wearing a blue gown with a blue blanket laying over you.
"Ah, Y/n. You're awake." A doctor said as he entered the room and stared at you, he glanced down at your chart and began talking about a bunch of things you didn't understand. You couldn't remember anything that had happened and why you were in the hospital,
"I'll give you two a minute." The body that had been weighing your arm down moved and you looked to see that it was Taehyung sitting there with his eyes a bright red colour and his black curly hair a mess.
"Tae?" He looked at you and nodded reaching out and running his hand over your face, images of being in the car flashed back into your head and then the images of the night before. You tried to move away from him but he held your face tighter in his grasp not wanting you to move away from him.
"The hospital called me after the fireman said you'd said my name..." You looked down at your hands not wanting to look at him for too long, you'd broken things off and no car accident was going to change that.
"Must have been too whacked out." You mumbled to him and he took hold of your hand being careful of the IV drip that was in there and he sighed.
"Look I've been thinking about what you said...About the future and I want you in it. I need you in my future," You were gazing into his eyes when the door opened,
"Taehyung? What are you doing here? Why did the hospital call you?" His hand left yours when you heard his fiancée's voice and you looked over at her wondering what you could say to make this seem less weird for her but she already knew there was something going on since Taehyung stared back at you once he saw her enter the room,
"He was the last person in my call log, I was planning a surprise and I shouldn't have been on my phone which is how I ended up here." Taehyung shook his head,
"It's not true...The truth is that --" Neither of you spoke for a couple of seconds before he took her out of the room and began explaining everything to her. She stared at you through the glass window into your room and you knew that he was telling her the truth, the look on her face was saying everything that needed to be said.
"Never come near me! Ever again! You disgust me!" She screamed as she came into the room throwing her engagement ring at you, you threw it off the bed and watched as she left down the hallway. Taehyung came back into the room and looked at you sadly.
"You told her everything?" He nodded and you looked down at your hands not knowing what to do with yourself now and he came over to you taking your hand in his and continuing with what he was saying before,
"I want a future with you...Only you." In that one moment, nothing mattered anymore as long as he continued to hold you like he was right now.
"How do I know-"
"It's only ever always been you I was in love with, no one else. Even in school when you were the nerd that kept to themselves. It's only ever always been you." He whispered looking down at you with those big eyes that made you weak the knees. You were sure that if You had been standing up you would have fallen over and he leant down leaving a kiss on your lips and smiling as you kissed him back.
"When the time is right and I've sorted everything out with her...I'll take you out a real date. Somewhere nice, somewhere fancy where I can show you off." He promised as he pulled away from the kiss running his fingers over your skin and smiling softly at the way you shivered at his touch. Even after a year he still had that everlasting effect on you that you didn't think would ever change.
"I love you," He whispered again kissing your forehead,
"I love you too."
could you rank the degrassi next class characters?
gladly!! also sorry in advance if you love any of the characters im about to shit on lol
20. Frankie Hollingsworth. Almost had her second to last but. No. Klu Klux Fran?? The ZOO?? I can't even talk about her she's just so damn annoying and racist and omg. And she was being pushed as the new Main Girl which made everything all the more offensive and unbearable
19. Esme Song. Sorry but I do not think she had a single redeeming trait. She had nothing she stood for, no actual character beyond being an antagonist to every single other person on the show. Like she thinks Shay is stupid for being embarrassed about getting her period on her boyfriend's pants, and yet she calls Yael disgusting for having armpit hair?? So what's the truth? And people are like "well she's mentally ill" to excuse all she does. Well Maya is mentally ill and Esme makes fun of her too. So who's side are we on? Like I would've liked to see her get help and develop but we didn't get that so.
18. Hunter Hollingsworth. Terrorist. Not even interesting enough to be an actual school shooter. Just a waste of a character. Sexist, violent, had a plot about wanting to play video games at school. I'm so bored. Only not at the bottom bc I feel like he wasn't in my face as much
17 & 16. Baaz Nahir & Vijay Maraj. Thing 1 and Thing 2 to the would be school shooter. Clowns. They were a terrible group and I cringed any time they had a plot together. Annoying together, useless on their own. Hard pass
15. Yael Baron. The final member of the above group. Was mostly boring and annoying and especially dumb for being romantically interested in Hunter. Only gets bonus points for their coming out as nonbinary plot. After their makeover I was literally crying
14. Jonah Haak. Mostly disliked him for being in a relationship with Frankie. Like I'm sure they were only a year or two apart but he felt so much older than her. It was gross. And mostly he's just really blah. The attempt at a straight edge character at that point was. Hilarious. at least.
13. Winston Chu. Seemed harmless at first but idk all the boys were shifted high into clown mode when this show hit netflix. The incident with the geisha and Japanese soldier costumes? Defending Zoe against Esme? Then later telling Goldi maybe she should take her hijab off to cause less of a fuss? Bruh.
12. Saad Al'Maliki. Honestly I felt like he was the one with the most braincells most of the time. Probably pissed me off the least. But he was also in the least amount of episodes and didn't make much of an impression on me. Was mostly just boring. But I'll take boring over everything that came before
11. Lola Pacini. Degrassi has a knack for introducing the worst and most obnoxious characters and then eventually making you love them. Lola was not quite that. I hated her for the longest time but it decreased a bit near the end. I got emotional when she had her abortion. And when she gave Yael their makeover. And when she reached out to Saad and convinced him not to leave. I feel like I could've grown to like her more if the show went on, but again... Oh also I hate her and Miles together sorry
10. Grace Cardinal. Ugh Grace is confusing to me. I wasn't the biggest fan of her story with Zoe. I mean sure you're allowed to hook up with someone and then realize "oh that's not for me" but it was handled so awkwardly. Like she slept with Zoe just to be like "damn i hate when everyone thinks i'm a lesbian :/" like why. Idk she was fine but I'm not over the moon about her
9. Goldi Nahir. Ugh okay I feel like they didn't know what to do with her. Like she had the plotline about if she should take off her hijab or not. And she had to teach the poor whities about racism. That was about it? She was adorable and sweet and a bright spot in the show but ugh she deserved better than what she was surrounded with lol
8. Shay Powers. Again, it's not her fault she's stuck in a show written by 70 year old white people. But the black girl is completely oblivious to the racism of her friend? She has to ask her dad if a racist thing is really racist? She's never experienced racism? Ok Degrassi. They treat all their black girls like shit and I feel like I just stan them out of spite bc of that lol. But she's cool and a nice person and she's into sports so she's at least doing stuff
7. Rasha Zuabi. Another generally nice and cool character that I have positive feelings for. Also she was gay so yay. Loved her story with Zoe. I think there was just one moment where I was like "wtf are you doing" but compared to everyone else it's not a big deal
6. Zig Novak. I have to admit that all my enjoyment of his character comes from before Next Class. He was such a sweetie and then he left and came back acting dumb as hell. That was not my boy in Next Class. But ahhh he's still my boy sorry I love him <3
5. Deon "Tiny" Bell. Basically the same as Zig above. But I feel like he maybe had a few less moments of being an asshole? Also his promposal for Shay was cute <3 Wait didn't he also date Lola? Wasn't a fan of that either.
4. Zoe Rivas. She was the one dressed up as a geisha lol (: Oh boy Next Class was something else. Umm it was nice to see her process of accepting herself as a lesbian. I feel like it took forever tho. Which is understandable irl but this is a tv show lol. I didn't enjoy her sucking Zig off in the woods. Not fun. But her relationship with Rasha was one of my fave things about NC
3. Tristan Milligan. The amount of hate Tristan gets is faaaar too much. He's one of my favorites of the whole show honestly. I think he's funny and dramatic and a great addition to the show. But he gets knocked down bc I can't remember anything he did in Next Class other than BEING IN A FUCKING COMA FOR A WHOLE SEASON. He's already Owen's brother, he's suffered enough. But I love his relationship with Miles. And him helping Zoe accept herself
2. Miles Hollingsworth. Yes another character I wasn't fond of at first. Hated his relationship with Zoe and thought he was just boring. Truthfully I think I only became interested when he started dating Tristan lol. Plus omg with his family?? It's a miracle he got out at all. He went through so much bullshit and he was especially going through it in Next Class. He was kind of a hot mess but also I just care a lot about him. He deserves the world <3
1. Maya Matlin. Is Maya really my fave?? I guess so! Yet another character I wasn't fond of at first. Which is insane bc we just got to the part in our rewatch where she first shows up and I'm like !!! baby girl!! So precious!!! And I wanted to cry thinking of what she's about to go through. I feel like her character is treated with some of the most respect and care. Her motivations and mental health decline all make sense storywise. I just care a lot about her and got super emotional watching everything in her story, especially the later parts in NC
Wow this is a lot!! But I hope you enjoyed my ranking and explanations lol. Also like. Everyone was racist. Everyone was mentally ill. That was the whole show. It was a hot mess and truth be told I am not a fan. Even the characters I love, they were acting weird here. Like I said about Zig and Tiny and their character regression. And I think it was the same for like Tristan and Zoe and plenty of others too. Everyone was off, idk how to explain it. But that's my ranking for the hot mess that was Next Class!!
Thank you for the ask, ily <3
Heterochromia (Lucas x reader)
ONE SHOT ... SOULMATE AU! .. HETEROCHROMIA (different eye colors)
Warning : none (?) It's fluff and safe for everyone
Enjoy!!
Heterochromia- when one person owns two different colors of iris.
Having one purple eye and one green eye is nothing new to the society. Everyone is born with it. One of the color belongs to you, and the other color obviously belongs to your significant others aka your soulmate.
Science proof that when you meet your soulmate, your eye color will change. You will finally have a pair of your true color and vice versa. Truth be told, this is such a cool indicator and people are all loving this new mutation.
Waking up to coffee and toast is a good way to start your day. You toss your blanket aside and push yourself away, you’re in a good mood to start college today.
“Morning Hendery,” you greet your flat partner.
“Morning (y/n)~” his bed head greets you.
“coffee, bacon and eggs?” his questioning tone is enough to offer you breakfast.
“That’s so nice of you. Yes just one egg and bacon,” you say while grabbing your towel to use the bathroom first.
You return to the small dining room ten minutes later and your plate is ready on the table.
Hendery pours you a cup of black coffee with two spoons of sugar “black with two spoons of sugar.”
He pushes the cup to you as he finishes his own breakfast plate. “Thanks” you whisper
“Morning class?” you ask as you spoon yourself some eggs and bacons.
“Uh-hum, why would I get up this early if I do not have morning class.” Hendery scoffs
“You go take a shower, I’ll wash the dishes.” You initiatively take the responsibility since he had cooked you breakfast.
You met Hendery through a friend when you’re looking for a flat mate. You don’t have much rules to sharing the flat, your urgency made you sign the contract with Hendery, a sophomore in engineering while you're a junior in public health.
“Are you going to Jaehyun’s party tomorrow?” He asks after coming out of the toilet in a clean and tidy shirt. Jaehyun is a member of the same frats as Hendery and tomorrow is his birthday. You've met Jaehyun since middle school and the two of you are good friends! thus earning you an invitation to the ‘hottest man in the campus’ birthday party.
You rinse the last plate and dry your hands, “It’s a Friday night after all, I am going to come I guess.”
“Awesome! We can share a cab.” He flashes his big smile and the last thing you saw before parting ways was his half green half blue eyes. The two of us start our daily routines.
--
Preparing yourself for a party is always fun. You enjoy decorating your half blue half brown eyes with eye shadows and you love dressing up. Tonight's pick is a simple black dress with a pink choker and some wedged boots. February is still cold and you don't want to come home freezing!
You paint your lips on your favorite shade color and with one last perfume spray, you're finally ready to go.
“Hey, i'm ready.” You notify Hendery, who has been waiting for you since like thirty minutes ago…
He glances at you and stands up, “Great! The cab will be here in five minutes. You look stunning by the way. Aren't you feeling cold?” he wonders after seeing your attire.
“Nah, i'll use a coat relax. Shall we go down?” you grab your coat and then pockets your key.
“Sure, let's wait down stairs.” He offers you his hand since you'll need to go down two levels by stairs in a wedged boots. Although he knew you're so talented in wearing heels, he is a gentleman for always offering a hand.
“You know I won't fall just by wearing a 5 cm boots.” You giggle while descending the stairs.
Hendery smirks, “A thank you would be better. I’m raised to be a gentle man miss.”
“Right… gentleman.. arraseo mr blue-green" you tease him. Well the first time you saw his eyes, you lowkey envied him for having one green eye, while Hendery always love your brown eyes. Funny how we cannot switch eye colors! Or else you're going to pick purple and ash grey!
The party Jaehyun held was the biggest you've attended since coming to university life. He rented a whole party house complete with a swimming pool, pool, a dj, and of course free flows of drinks and foods. The room was so big and there's hundreds of people! You're sure he almost invited every one in campus. This is like a prom, but without the fancy dresses.
“Look, don't go home with any one! You're going back home with me. Okay? Contact me or just look for me.” Hendery said before you parted ways. Well, Hendery and you had only been sharing the flat for seven months, but that is enough to grow a strong sibling bond between you two. Hendery treats you like you're his little sister and you see him as your big brother.
“Right, make sure you're taking me home okay and not other girl.” You taunt and before Hendery could get you, you disappear into the crowd.
“Jaehyun! Happy birthday brother!”
Once you see the man with sweet dimple in denim, chilling with his frats, you hug him and congratulate him. Well, after all jaehyun and you are close friends and calling him brother is nothing.
Jaehyun smiles upon your greeting and arrival, he returns your hug and excuses himself from the group. The two of you walk to the quieter part of the house, the kitchen and there was a comfortable silence.
“Sooo you're hosting this big party let me guess,” you tease him and put a hand over your head, “to I don't know find your soulmate? Or just win an attention?”
Jaehyun laughs at your remarks, well those two are not completely wrong. He takes two cups of drinks and hands you one, “Well both are quite true. I'm looking for my special person… maybe i'll find them tonight. Or maybe you can find yours too.” Jaehyun swirls his cup and gulps it down.
You can catch the sweetness his brown and blue eyes hold. Yes the two of you have the same eye colors, but no you're not made for one another! Your eyes and his never change and that means you two have to keep looking on.
“I don't know if this is a good idea Jae, but meeting someone here and then realizing he or she is your soul mate will not be easy! There's like three hundred people here!” you sip on the alcoholic beverage and noted you're not drinking this tonight.
“Well I need to say it is hard, but possible. Besides there are only two hundred fifty invitations sweetie, I am sure you can find someone interesting!” Jaehyun winks and pats your hair carefully in a playful manner.
“Now, enjoy the party! I need to entertain my guests. Oh reach out for me if you need any help! Mom will kill me if something bad happens to you. Bye!” Jaehyun exits the kitchen and like the social butterfly he is, he embraces every single friends coming in.
You found your friends from your sorority, they invite you over to a beer pong game against another frats house and you're always in for games. You join your sisters and the fun begins.
Two hours of fun and games passed by, you've won two rounds of beer pong game, one round of drinking game and you've moved on to the dance floor. The crowd moves along to the dance floor, surrounding the DJ blasting “shut up and dance" loudly on the stereo. You bumped to a lot of people and drunk quite a lot of alcohols from the drinking game earlier. Now you're regretting things since your brain can't really cooperate.
“Hey (y/n)! You free?” Jaehyun asked when he sees you taking some air on one of the empty spots.
You turn your head from day dreaming and nod. Jaehyun takes your hand to bring you and sit down beside a nice looking man. You see Hendery sitting across you with some girls you did not know.
“So guys, this is the one special friend I’ve always mentioned. Her name is (y/n), we've been best friends since middle school.” Jae introduces you to the guys and you take the queue to learn one by one. The room you're sitting in isn't bright, it's dim and so you cannot really study everyone's eyes.
You learn their names quickly, Taeyong, Mark, Ten, Lucas, and a tall guy Johnny.
You got yourself engaged in a deep talk with Taeyong and Mark about raps and lyrics writing. You learn that Taeyong and Mark are studying to be professional lyric writers and turns out you blend well with them. They suddenly talk about their current project and in the dark loud room, you help them with some verses and that's how you ended up exchanging phone numbers with them.
Night deepens, your head is spinning and all you know is you were standing up to grab some water and the blazing disco lights were blinding you, you did not know when someone knocked you out. Making you fall down on someone's body.
---
The loud ringing from your alarm forces you to wake up. You look around to figure out where are you sleeping. You squint your eyes from the bright sun lights entering the room. You take a deep breath and that's when you realize something is wrong. No this is not the usual smell your room has, this is nothing near the fabric softener scent you use.
Your hands rub the bed sheet beneath you and your eyes shot wide open when you feel something that's definitely not bolsters! You turn your head to the side and in a glint of an eye, you quickly check what's beneath your blanket.
You can breathe normally when you see your clothes still completely intact. Now where were you, you try to remember what happens last night, how you ended up sleeping on a foreign bed beside a man who turns out to be the host of the party.
Jaehyun looks so wasted and drunk beside you. Although this is not the first time Jae shared a bed with you, this is definitely the first time he was drunk asleep beside you. You make your way out of the bed and room slowly, not to wake him up.
You leave the room and concluded that this is the same house where the party was held. Turns out you passed out yesterday and someone brought you to the room. You peek on the other room beside yours which is not closed completely. You spot Hendery sleeping there too with Mark and Ten. You see several other bodies passed out on the couches and floor. The smell of alcohol is pungent, you find yourself running with a closed nose to the refrigerator. You take out a sealed water bottle and calm yourself down with it.
You hear some foot steps and turn your back.
“Oh it's you Taeyong!” you greet him and move aside when he heads to the fridge to of course take some waters.
“Woah didn't know you're sleeping here too, thought you went home last night.” He speaks in his bed voice
“I didn’t remember anything. I guess someone bumped into me and I fell? But don't know. Anyways pretty colors over there! Purple and blue. Last night was too dark, can't see the colors.” You drive the conversation away from last night's talk.
“Well yeah I'm still looking for my soulmate, unlike you! Lucky you for you've found yours already.” Tae smirks while looking into your eyes.
You froze, your brain process everything that had happened. Did he just say your eyes are the same colors already?!
“Wait say that again…” you squint your eyes at him.
Taeyong smiles, “sure, your perfect blue eyes are captivating honey,” he teases you a bit, seeing that there's no one else here
You leave the half empty bottle on the counter and drag Taeyong with you as you head to the nearest mirror. It's in the bathroom.
You stand across your own reflection, looking so surprised and bewildered. Taeyong is standing behind you confused as you did not let his hand go.
“I swear Taeyong, yesterday before I went to the party they were still different!” you turn to look at him.
“Well congratulations! You've found your soul mate!” he speaks in a sing song tone.
You squeeze his hand tighter “I did not know who my soul mate is Tae,”
Before Taeyong can react to your sentence a surprised scream erupted.
“(Y/n)?! What are you doing with Taeyong in the bathroom?!” a surprised man stood in horror over the toilet door.
“Oh Hendery hyung! Nothing I just brought Tae here after he saw my eyes! LOOK! LOOK! They're no longer different!” You blink several times to show Hendery your eye colors.
“Damn! You're right, you've met your soul mate!! Congrats girl" Hendery gushes between you and Tae, he engulfs you in a hug and carries you while spinning you one time. He's too happy for you.
“So who's the lucky guy?” Hendery shoots a look at Taeyong's eyes checking their colors.
“Hmm not you. Who else then?” Hendery ponders
“last night I met a lot of people! Too much to actually remember one by one… I don't even have memories on who I met.” You usher the two men out of the bathroom and talk in another space.
“We can start by checking who's here…” Tae suggests and with that the three of you along with Jaehyun start to observe everyone's eyes. Jae needed to use the bathroom and found the three of you there pondering on where to look for your soulmate.
“Nope. None of them have the other color.. or had their color changed yesterday.” You slump on one of the sofa and bite your lips. One habit you always did when you're thinking fast and hard.
“Look, there were like hundreds of people last night and… I met my sisters.. which of course were out of the list. I knew them already and if our eyes were to change colors that won't happen last night.” You try to narrow down the options, because hell who is not excited to meet their soulmates?!
Hendery adds in, “You did play with some of the boys from Omega Lambda and you bumped to some of the boys on the dance floor?”
You shake your head, “didn't make eye contact with the crowds in the dance floor.”
“Then you made eye contact with some boys from Omega Lambda and probably from our frats.” Taeyong clicks his tongue.
“The omega lambda is a five minutes walk from here, we can check on them… there were only 9 of them last night.” Jaehyun stands up and walks to take his jacket. “Shall we? Our frats have 21 boys… might want to meet them at lunch… better that way.” Jaehyun decides everything by himself.
“Sure, Baekhyun is a good friend of mine and he's on Omega lambda.. let's go my car is free.” Taeyong plays with his car keys and the four of us depart.
Upon entering the Omega Lambda house, I definitely did not expect to see the frat house so clean and tidy.
“You're looking for someone whose eyes changed color?” Suho, their leader who answered the door, repeats the question.
The four of us nod eagerly. Suho puts on a sad smile, “am so sorry but nine of us had found their soul mates already and the other three are still…” Suho turns his head to see the living room, “taking shower.”
Baekhyun joins Suho in the front door, he greets Taeyong warmly and smiles brightly for us too.
“Oh looking for someone? Hmm let's see Sehun's still looking for his other pair.. Kai and Tao too. Tao didn't come yesterday so we can check Kai and Sehun.”
Your heart beats faster when you hear Suho calling Kai and Sehun. However to no avail, Suho confirmed that both Kai and Sehun still have different eye colors and none of them have blue eyes before.
The group parted and you're now on your way back home to wash and rest. You're not joining the boys for lunch, you don't feel close yet.
Hendery waits for you to finish showering and when you're out of the steamy door looking all relaxed in a pajamas he can only smile and ruffles your hair.
“Nice blue eyes over there! I kinda remember seeing someone with those blue eyes too, but I can't get the clear face or name… trust me I'll notify you when I find the man!” Hendery pats your shoulder and takes his turn to shower.
You go to the kitchen and start cooking your lunch. Hendery leaves after a cup of coffee and you're finally alone. You try to remember anyone from the party that might be your soulmate, but your brain was not cooperating.
You give up, finish lunch, clean the flat a bit, then you drown yourself on your assignments and papers.
Hendery must have gone to the cinema or somewhere else with the boys, because when you look up from your works, your phone shows 15 missed calls and 10 unread message from Hendery.
You glance to the clock and realize it's already noon and you see a pile of your dirty laundry. You tidy up your books, take your phone and you walk to your dirty pile of clothes. While humming to your favorite song, you take the basket and leave to go to the washing room, before that you borrowed one of Hendery's big sweater. Finally you make your way to the laundry place one block away from your flat.
There was no one when you enter the small area. The lights are bright and the sun has not yet sunken down, so you're not afraid even when you're alone here.
You unload your clothes and after putting in your favorite detergent and softener, you close the door and press the button to start the machine.
You take a step back and lean over one of the machine. Taking a glance to the right and left,, seeing if there is anyone else.
Turns out you're not alone. You spot a man wearing his ear phones, unloading his dirty laundries and ooh my gosh… he’s taking off his clothes.
You let out a small surprised cough and the man turned his body around quickly.
“Sorry…” you whisper as you close your eyes. Your cheeks burn from the embarrassment
“Ah sorry didn't see you there!” the man continues stripping his sweater off and tossing it into the machine along with his other things.
“You can open your eyes … I mean if you're not comfortable I can turn away.” He awkwardly explains.
“No it's okay..” you finally reply after collecting yourself back. Come on it's not the first time you see some man bare chested. Hendery and Jaehyun did that a lot, not to mention your younger brother who liked to strip too.
Once your eyes open, you're already face to face with the man.
“LUCAS?!” you run your eyes to meet his face.
“Yeah it's me.. you remember me!” He smiles genuinely but it didn't last long.
“Why? Something’s wrong?” you ask when you see his surprised face.
“Look at me (y/n)…” Lucas takes your face in his hands and bends himself to match your height or at least to be able to see your eyes.
You were confused at first, but now when you see it… you're suffocating.
“Hey hey..” Lucas can feel your body shaking and your breathing short, “easy easy.. breathe in.. out..”
He guides you through your small panic incident and his big generous smile is back on his face. His hands were already holding on to your shoulder and when your breathing stabilized he cups your cheeks on his large palms. His eyes widens and you're spaced out.
The two of you remain silent… with just one eye contact.. the world feels different. Your skin tingle and your heart feels so warm. No words can explain the exact unexplainable feeling happening right now.
“Lucas..” your voice cracked and a tear escaped from your blue eyes. Your hand creeps to hold onto his which are still cupping your face. You give it a gentle squeeze just to make sure this is real and he is real.
Lucas smiles and with glistening eyes he pulls you into a warm embrace. The linen Hendery's sweater provided to you, cannot hide the fast heart beat behind this man’s wonderful abs.
His hugs feels like your missing piece, his skin feels soft under your touch, and his heart beat sounds like home. You cannot hold back your tears from falling down. You make your arms slowly around his waist and gosh how you fit perfectly on his chest to snuggle.
Lucas carefully brushes your hair away from your face and with most care he locks contact with you one more time.
If time can stop, you'll want it to stop right now right at this moment in a laundry place with no one else. Your machine still buzzing and his too still rocking back and fourth. But amongst those loud rocking voice of water mixing, you find yourself hypnotized by a pair of brown eyes… the exact color you've woken up to for the last 20 years of living. You cannot mistaken that brown for anything else. Lucas too, seems to adore the blue eyes he’s now staring at.
“I love your blue eyes they look magical.” Lucas leans in closer to drown himself on those blue orbs of yours.
You blushed, “and I've finally found the man who gave me those fresh brown iris!”
Lucas crawls his finger to your chin and while keeping eye contact, his face inches closer to you. Your reflex made you close your eyes and your leaping heart flies to cloud nine when his soft lips mold into yours. It’s definitely a new sensation and you found yourself craving for more. What first was a resting lip, slowly moves. He leads you through the kiss and as your feet grow weak from matching his height, Lucas bends down for you. You tangle your hand over his neck and plays softly with his hair. The sweet soft kiss did not end there, you feel a strong hand over your hips and with one tap you jump as he lifts you up to one of the machine.
Thanks to the machine, you're now giving him an easier time to finish what he's doing. Lucas waits for your permission and soon his tongue was dashing through your rows of teeth. Your eyes were still closed, you did not really care if someone spot the two of you making out here not to mention Lucas is in his half naked state.
The kiss ends when you tug his hair as your lungs run out of air. With heavy heart he lets go and your eyes flutter open. Chest heaving up and down, Lucas stare at you in awe and adoration. He tucks your hair behind your ear and cages you between his strong hands.
“So.. look at my blushing princess… so cute.” Lucas coos. You playfully slap him and earns an “ouch" from him.
“Did you just steal my first kiss?” you ask while looking to the distance, your right hand finds its way to touch your swollen lips.
Lucas raises his brow, “That was your first?”
You stare into him with big eyes and nod your head slowly, “why?”
Lucas shakes his head and smirks, “You did amazing for a first timer"
You swing your legs and face your head down to the tiles. You're suddenly so shy in front of the man who just stole your first kiss… and was he even the right man?! What if he's not your soulmate?
“You're now doubting if I am really your soul mate right?” Lucas seriously can read you like an open book.
Your surprised face was enough to ensure him, his guess was right.
“Look, I met the boys earlier and no one has their eye colors changed.. well Mark did but his was not blue. Mark has a green violet eyes… and I was the other lucky guy.” Lucas leans over one machine that is in front of you.
You hide your blushing face, “I know it is you Lucas.. because I don't know.. my heart just tells me you're the one! Your kiss feels wonderful, your touch, your hug … and your eyes! Those were the colors I owned before.”
“And those blue… I cannot mistaken them for another color too! Plus my heart also leads me to you.” Lucas exhales a relieved breath.
There was silence and you hear your machine stopping. You quickly jump off to the ground and take your clothes out. They were dried already and you take your time to fold them.
Lucas is still waiting for his to finish as he chats with you. Now you're exchanging name hobbies and silly facts to one another.
“umm mind to tell me how you ended up half naked here?” You finally found the courage to ask him the first thing that bothers your mind.
Lucas looks puzzled from your question but he answers you anyway, “Clumsy Jaehyun spilled an ice cappuccino on my last piece of fresh sweater. I've had him clean it quick with tissues and some water, but heck I cannot stand the stickiness. So I decided to skip the movie and wash my clothes. Apparently because of Jaehyun's clumsiness I finally met you! The love of my life, the one for me.” Lucas explains as he dresses himself back in one of the fresh laundries.
“Starving?” Lucas asks as the two of you head to the exit door.
You nod.
“Got any schedule tonight?” he asks once again.
You shake your head, “I'm free for the night.”
“Great! Let's put our clothes back and we'll go to this restaurant I love.” Lucas holds one of your hand and just like that the two of you walk on the side walk hand in hand
You pass his house first and he came back with his motorcycle
“Hop on, we'll drop your laundry and we’ll go eat!”
You sit behind him and encircle your arms around his torso. Lucas zoomed to your flat and you rush your way to the door.
Quickly you put on a lipstick, grab your bag and wallet, tossed Hendery's sweater aside and you dress yourself quickly in a warm garment. Motorcycle ride on February after the sun is down will be chilling.
You descend through the stairs and greet Lucas with one twirl “How do I look for our first date?”
He pecks your lips quick, “perfect! Now hop on and hold on tight sweetheart, tonight will be unforgettable!”
Life has twists and unpredictable turns, yet in the end you'll find your soulmate just like finding your way back home. It feels assuring, safe, and wonderful. You'll know he or she is the one, once your eyes meet and your lips touch.
The end 🙌
Thank you for reading 🤧🥺🥺💖
Favorite Twilight blogs?
i’m always ready to answer this ask again because i love mentioning everyone i admire hehe. here are my fave blogs, my friends, & why they’re the best. ♡
@bellasredchevy ugh i love kae. do i have the power to appoint a ruler of the renaissance? no. but if i could... it’d be kae bc all her takes are the takes. i think her answers to asks are always either really funny and witty or just really smart. she’s super kind but she’s also a very no bullshit person because she’ll tell it like it is to shitty anons. she also has really cool life experiences that she’ll very casually mention and you’re like i’m sorry what. u worked w... tigers??? why can’t i let that go this is literally not the first time i’ve brought that up lmao. anyways, if kae told me to jump off a cliff (recreationally and recklessly), i’d do it.
@inthemiddleofmymidnight i think kim is the first friend i made on here. she’s wonderful and insanely funny. maybe i’m just easy to make laugh but every story she tells truly makes me laugh out loud... and i’ll laugh again thinking about it later. she is truly a meme queen. her posts... chef’s kiss. also she will put team edward/team jacob shirts in ur animal crossing able’s sisters if u ask. i love u kimmie im ur biggest fan. also like me, kim would be afraid to dive off the cliff if we were cliff diving but then she’d be the one to PUSH me sdhjfhsj i just love her so much. her friendship literally means so much to me!!
@bellaskhakis nayana is the type to go from trashing edward relentlessly to simping for edward in 2 seconds. in real life she’s probably stressing over school but mentally she is in forks, wa in bella & edward’s lil cottage reading fanfiction. if u need recommendations, she’s got u. she’s a great listener & friend & her humor is like wonderfully chaotic. she’ll cry but then she’ll take that energy and drunk liveblog the twilight movies or buy a bunch of plants. if ur friends w her, she will send u all the funny tiktoks & that is LOVE. nay would think she would want to cliff dive but then need to talk herself into it while everyone else goes first and then realize she was the last person up there and freak out but then dive anyways
@cullen-collective omg kaity is such a great person to talk to. she’s like jacob – she’s an easy person to talk to. she listens but also really makes u feel comfortable & like u’ve been friends forever. kaity don’t read the rest of this paragraph i don’t want u to feel self conscious/overly self aware hehe BUT my fave part of kaity’s blogs as i’ve said to her before is like the literal stream of consciousness happening in her tags. why do i feel like kaity would run and JUMP. would she do a cannonball??? i would like to see it
@teamjacobthot my love for dij... unconditional. irrevocable. dee is just like COOL. why did i feel so lame saying that. she just has the best energy and i know i keep calling everyone funny but really dee is FUNNY. like kaity, she’s also the kind of person that i feel like you just automatically get along with & feel comfortable around. obviously we’re all here for fun but i feel like dee’s blog really embodies that fun like no other because either in her posts or notes or answers to asks... it’s the most chaotic unexpected topics that will truly kill u. im thinking of that freaking diarrhea ask she got that she just reblogged again... cursed. but i love her. look i’m not saying she WOULD bc i’m sure it’s probably much scarier once ur actually up there but i feel like dee would also be the instigator with cliff diving and do some kind of trick like a flip idk if she really would but MAYBE
@howlonghaveyoubeenseventeen emma is the ultimate sweetie. always down to talk abt cute dogs or painting or disney channel movies or how jacob is superior to all. she’s just precious and kind but ready to THROW DOWN for u in one second. i literally have been laughing at the same joke for like two weeks but when i said two hurricanes looked like they were coming towards houston she said “good thing i have two fists” shdusdjdkd. emma is the type of friend who would remind u that if u really don't want to jump off the cliff, don’t feel peer pressured bc u don’t have to. but then if u built up the courage, she’d be the one to hold ur hand and jump with u. ok i’m retiring the cliff diving thing i’m sorry i really RAN with that.
@kaquiche man i love taryn. i feel like taryn’s meme usage is always perfect & also she would definitely save ur life. she does ARCHERY ok she would protect us all in the event of a zombie apocalypse. i’m literally fighting the urge to say FUNNY again but it’s not my fault if everyone makes me LAUGH here. taryn’s one of the first people i remember seeing interact w my posts 🥺 she been supporting me since DAY ONE baby. i just love her. she’ll hype u up. she’ll always make u CRY with her twilight video edits. seriously if u want that emo twilight content to make u FEEL SOMETHING... this is who to follow.
@bellas-dumptruck-ass i love elaine and she’s going to laugh at me again but i really think elaine is so smart!!! like a genius... my brain could not process the info that she’s literally studying like it’s no big deal. elaine is so sweet ugh i keep saying that but everyone is just really super kindhearted here ok!! her username KILLS me. like i think this is truly peak comedy. her brand... it’s everything to me. classic memes & great tags.
@phil-dwyer-stan-account addison is SO SO nice and understanding and sensitive. if nayana is in bella & edward’s cottage reading, addison is in there baking bread and cookies and brownies. she’s beautiful and sweet and silly and has the disney channel TEA you didn’t know you needed. she’s another person that will instantly befriend you. she’ll go out of her way to really let you know that she admires you & is excited to be ur friend. the actual definition of a sweetheart. is she the real life esme?? she might be
@volturialice g... i’m lowkey her biggest fan. name a post that didn’t go off...i’ll wait. like literally all of her memes will make u laugh. u know what?? g IS the twilight renaissance. her latest midnight sun posts have especially been making me die and if you’re new here, she’s probably like one of the first blogs u have to follow. every time i see her username in my notifications... my heart is FAT 💗 also she writes fanfics so if ur looking for twilight fanfiction, she has a bunch & also a rec!!
@leahclearwaterdefensesquad kate is so kind & one of my go to people for tag games, but kate is ALWAYS providing the leah content that we NEED. also the lesbian twilight ship moodboards and PLAYLISTS. i also really appreciate how kate & @vampireguarddogs are always some of the first blogs i see that boost a lot of important talking points related to the series on racism. bc if you’re going to be in this fandom, there’s a lot you need to make sure you’re educated on since this series is problematic. like we’re all here to be nostalgic and have fun but we can’t do that whilst ignoring relevant conversations. dee & kae also always have great takes in these discussions too!
@edytheelizabethcullen ok i’m going to try & wrap this up bc i’ve been going on forever and there’s a lot of blogs i really love & admire, but i’ll finish by saying that alex is an actual angel and so intelligent and charming and u will have great conversations about the series with her!!
ML: Are They Worthy? Chapter 85: Flying Free!/Monarch
(WARNING: Mild Transphobia.)
Marinette and Adrien were in the middle of their first kiss since Marinette woke up from passing out. Once they finished, they looked at each other and blushed. “So, um, what did I miss?” Marinette asked.
Adrien was taken aback by this question. Of course it was a natural thing to ask, but Adrien, the romantic he is, was still caught up in the emotions of the moment. Still, he answered. “Well, not a whole lot. We’ve all been taking turns to see if we can’t find Nurushwa. Master Fu, Marianne, Hao-Yu, and Corina are preparing some bigger measures to locate them as well.”
“I see…” Marinette said, taking in the information.
“You OK?” Adrien asked.
“Huh? Oh yeah” Marinette answered. “Well, as OK as I can be at a time like this.”
“Right” Adrien giggled.
“I’m just thinking about things,” Marinette continued.
Adrien smiled. “It’s fine. Take your time. Oh, I guess the biggest thing that happened was with Katelyn.”
Marinette was intrigued. “Max’s girlfriend?”
“Yeah,” Adrien said. “Apparently, it’s a lot.”
“Well, I’m not really going anywhere anytime soon,” Marinette said.
“Right,” Adrien said, embarrassed. Adrien pulled up a chair and sat down. “So, where to begin. I guess a good place would be to explain why it was those heroes we met. Before everything...happened, Katelyn had asked Max to help pick her brother and his girlfriend up, as they were coming to check in on Katelyn.” Adrien proceeded to tell Marinette the rest of the story leading up to the heroes chasing Effector to the hospital as Vlad told him. “...And that’s where we came in.”
Marinette was shocked. “Wow. That’s...a lot…”
“Yeah…” Adrien agreed.
“So, what happened then?” Marinette said.
“Well…” Adrien began, “we, you, saved Paris…”
Marinette giggled. “Right. But then what?”
“I’ll take it from here,” Vlad said, appearing at the doorway.
“Vlad?” Marinette and Adrien said at the same time.
“Finally awake, huh?” Vlad asked. “Nice. Did Prince Charming have to give you another kiss there, Sleeping Beauty?” Marinette and Adrien blushed. “But for real, I’m glad you’re up.”
“Hi Vladdy,” Emile said.
“‘Vladdy’?” Marinette said.
Vlad got embarrassed. “Please don’t…” Emilie giggled.
“You two know each other?” Marinette asked.
“Well, uh, yeah,” Vlad said. “I came to visit a few times.”
Marinette stopped to think. “How long was I out?”
Adrien was hesitant to answer. “Um, about a week…”
“A WEEK?!” Marinette shrieked.
“Relax,” Vlad said. “That’s actually rather impressive, considering that most people that do what you did don’t wake up at all.”
“...I guess” Marinette relented.
Vlad smiled. “In all seriousness, I’m glad you’re awake.”
Marinette smiled in response. “Thank you.”
Emilie smiled as well. She then pressed on. “So, what happened after that? With Katelyn, I mean.”
“Well, after Adrien, Mr. Agreste, and the more well-versed in the miraculous rushed Marinette to the hospital,” Vlad began. “Everyone else made a sweep of the city to see if everything was alright.”
Flashback to the post-battle Paris, as heroes are leaping around, checking every nook and cranny to make sure everyone was alright, and make sure that despite the scale, there was no lasting damage. A series of clears confirmed that Ladybug’s cure worked as always.
Meanwhile, Katelyn was walking back to find her brother and his girlfriend. Nooroo popped out. “Um, hi” he said. Katelyn didn’t look at him. “How are you?” Nooroo continued. Still nothing. Nooroo got in her face. “Hello?!”
“Gah!” Katelyn shrieked. She sighed, relieved. “Sorry. I guess I’m not used to you yet.”
Nooroo giggled. “It’s fine.” Katelyn smiled for a second, then went back to frowning. “What’s wrong?” Nooroo asked.
“Well…” Katelyn began. She sighed. “It’s just...my family.”
“I’m sure they’re safe,” Nooroo assured her.
“I don’t doubt it,” replied Katelyn, “but in some ways that might be a problem.”
Nooroo sighed. “Yeah. I noticed.” Katelyn looked at him confused. “I mean, I was there when ‘Effector’ took control of your brother. I don’t see the point in lying about this.”
“True” Katelyn agreed. “Still, I guess I have to face this head on.”
Nooroo’s tummy grumbled. “If you want to delay it, I could use some food.”
Katelyn smiled. “Sure. You helped save the city after all. What kind of food do you like?”
“Personally, I really like strawberries,” Nooroo answered. Katelyn checked her phone to see where she could get some good strawberries. “Plus, if need be, Hazmat could make a return once I’m full.”
“As tempting as that sounds, I want to see if we can’t resolve this without powers first” Katelyn replied.
“Duly noted,” Nooroo said. They went and picked up some strawberries. Katelyn handed one to Nooroo. He settled into her right hoodie pocket, and he bit into it. “Mmmmmmmm.” Eventually, they came upon ground zero; the place where Katelyn, Luc, and everyone else met her nightmare parents. Katelyn looked on, frozen. “Hey” Nooroo said in between bites of his strawberry. “You got this!”
Katelyn smiled at him. “Thanks.” She looked back up and walked forward.
To her surprise, Luc and Olivia were the first two people she saw. Although, she wasn’t sure who wouldn’t surprise her. Luc saw her. “KATELYN!” he said. He rushed up to hug her. “I’m glad you're safe.”
Katelyn felt better after getting a hug from her brother. She hugged him back. “I’m glad you’re safe too.” They ended their hug. “So, um, hm” Katelyn began. “When you were Hazmat, you ended up telling me that you’re moving back here, and wanted me to live with you.”
This caught Luc off guard. “Oh. Well…yeah. That was supposed to be a surprise though.”
Katelyn smiled. “It’s fine. And I’d love that.”
Luc smiled back. “Thank you.” They shared another hug.
“So, when are you moving?” Katelyn asked.
“Oh, uh, well,” Luc said, letting go, “I’m not entirely sure. I mean, I did want to make it soon, but I’m not sure how things here are going to be. Paris just went through two city-wide assaults in a week.”
“Yeah” Katelyn said.
“But” Olivia said, stepping up to them, “we will call you once everything is settled.”
Katelyn smiled at her. “I’d love that.”
“Katelyn!” Max called out. He turned to find the group. He ran over and gave Katelyn a hug. Katelyn was surprised, blushed, and hugged back. After being in the hug for a bit, the two shared a kiss.
“Katelyn!” her mom called out, causing the group to be startled. She and Max let go. “Katelyn! Ah, there you are.”
“Come on, let’s go,” her father said.
Katelyn had had enough. She had enough of being alone and divided by people who were supposed to care about her. For a while, she had no one in school that liked her, a boyfriend who gave up on her, a friend group that kept an arm’s length from her, and parents who separated her and her brother because of their own pettiness. Now, she had an amazing boyfriend, wonderful new friends, her old friends were rounding a corner, and she had the promise to be reunited with her brother, the person she looked up to the most.
“No!” Katleyn said in defiance. Her parents were shocked. “I don’t want to! Luc offered to let me stay with him, and I agreed to it!”
Her parents gave each other a confused look. “But sweetie, we’re your parents” her mom tried reasoning.
“Biologically speaking, maybe so,” Max said, stepping in, “but in terms of being actual parents, I’d disagree. Time and time again, you’ve ignored her pain and suffering. That doesn’t scream ‘parenting’ to me whatsoever.”
Katelyn’s parents were shocked. “The audacity,” her father said. “Where does he get off saying things like that?”
“He’s my boyfriend!” Katelyn shouted back. Her parents were even more surprised. “And he’s been helping me with everything! From making friends, to getting back into school. Everything he’s done he’s done because he cares about me. Not because he cares about keeping up appearances.”
“He’s your boyfriend?” Katelyn’s mom said, condescending.
Katelyn nodded. “And I love him!” She and her parents stared off with each other.
Her father stepped forward. “Well,” he said, menacingly, “it seems like we haven’t disciplined you enough.” He raised his hand, ready to strike. Max’s eyes were wide in shock and horror. Katelyn didn’t flinch, as if she was used to what was going to come next.
Before Katelyn’s father could slap her across the face, his arm was grabbed. He turned to see Kim giving him a thousand yard stare. Following that, Ondine, Kagami, Vlad, Travis, and Casandra formed a wall between Katelyn and her father. Max was relieved, Katelyn was surprised.
Katelyn’s dad broke off from Kim. “Gah! Fine! If you’re so dead set on standing against nature, then so be it. But don’t come back unless you see things our way.” He turned around. “Let’s go honey,” he said to his wife.
Katelyn’s mom gave the crowd one last look. A sea of anger and disappointment looked back at her. She tried having her cake and eating it too by saying “We’ll be waiting.” She left with her husband.
Everyone seemed relieved. “Boy, I’m glad that’s over,” Kim said.
“Yeah. Talk about a nightmare” Vlad responded.
“I’ll say,” Travis added. “Any longer, and I don’t know what I would have done.”
Katelyn smiled. “Hm. Thanks.”
“Don’t go thankin’ me, I woulda done that for anyone” Cassandra said. “Besides, we just met today.”
“Don’t be so modest,” Travis said.
“He’s right,” Katelyn said. “I don’t know if I would have had the strength to do what you did if the tables were turned.”
“Well, I can’t blame you,” Kagami said. “I mean, my mom’s not THAT bad, but I do understand being pressured by your parents like that.”
“Thanks,” Katelyn said.
“Um, not to ruin the mood,” Luc said, “but we haven’t moved to Paris yet.”
“It’s fine,” Ondine said. “She can stay with me.” She grabbed Katelyn’s hands. “It’ll be a fun time between us girls.”
Katelyn smiled. “I’d like that.”
“But what about all your stuff?” Olivia asked.
“I don’t care,” Katelyn said. “As long as I’m out of there, I think I’ll be fine.”
“Well then, should we head to the cafe?” Kim offered up.
“Sure” Olivia answered.
“I don’t have anything better to do,” Vlad said. “And personally, I’d like to celebrate Paris’s heroes winning another large-scale battle.”
The group all came to that agreement and headed off. “Wait” Max said, pulling Katelyn back while the rest of the group moved forward. “Are you sure you don’t want your stuff? Because there are ways of getting it.” Kaalki flew up beside him.
Nooroo flew up next to Katelyn. “Well, it’s just stuff. I can get new things.” She thought about it. “But, this could be another way to punish evil. Let me think about it.” Max nodded, and they caught up with the rest of the group while their kwamis hid.
Once they got into the cafe, they took turns placing their order. After which, Luc looked embarrassed, but a little serious at the same time. “Well, even though the whole moving back to Paris thing was...a messy reveal to say the least,” he turned to Olivia, “do you want to tell them the second part of the surprise?”
“There’s more?” Katelyn asked. Olivia nodded. She reached into her pocket, fiddle with her hands for a second, and then showed off a diamond ring. Katelyn was stunned. “No WAY!”
“Heh” Luc laughed. “Yeah way.”
“You did NOT” Katelyn threw back.
“I absolutely did,” Luc said.
“You’re getting MARRIED?!” Katelyn exclaimed.
“Yup” Luc answered.
Katelyn rushed to give her brother a hug. Luc was caught off guard for a second, but then hugged her back. Katelyn looked up. “Congratulations.”
Luc smiled. “Thanks.”
Olivia held up her hand, and looked at her ring. “He proposed to me Friday,” she looked back at the group, “and we wanted to tell you right away, but, well…”
Katelyn let go of Luc and sat back down. Luc continued “We were still too excited Saturday morning. And then Saturday night...well...you know…”
“So we thought we’d do it in person,” Olivia finished. “Although we didn’t expect that whole thing to happen.”
“Right…” Katelyn said.
“Still, congratulations” Max said.
“Thanks little buddy,” Luc said. Max got a little embarrassed.
Their food and drinks arrived, and they began eating and drinking. “So,” Vlad began, “I’m happy for you and all, but it does feel like we’re in the way a little bit.”
Luc looked over at Vlad. “I guess that’s sort of true. But you guys are Katelyn’s friends, and you stuck up for not only her, but me as well. So maybe we can use this time to get to know each other a little better.”
Vlad smiled. “I’d like that.” They spent some time introducing themselves to everyone, and generally having a good time.
Once they finished their meal, they walked out of the cafe. “Well that was delightful,” Olivia said.
“I’ll say,” said Travis.
Luc turned to face Katelyn. “So, I know you’re going to be moving in with Ondine until we finalize our move,” he said, “but for our visit, do you wanna stay with us at Le Grand Paris?”
Katelyn smiled. “Of course.”
“Well then, wanna go now?” Luc asked.”Today’s been busy as is. I don’t feel like doing much, ya know?”
Katelyn giggled. “I get what you mean. But I do want to talk this all out with Ondine’s parents if that’s alright.”
Luc nodded. “I wanna see what they’re like. I mean, they’re going to be taking care of you. I know that bar is low, considering mom and dad, but still.”
Ondine chortled. “Oh, I’m sure you’ll love them. Let’s go then.” Ondine led the way, as Katelyn, Luc, Olivia, Max, and Kim followed.
Vlad, Kagami, Travis, and Casandra waved goodbye, going their separate ways. “So” Cassandra said, after they were far enough away, “Ryuko and Judgement Wolf.” Kagami and Vlad were a little embarrassed. “You have to tell me the stories behind that.”
“Well, you essentially know the story of Ryuko,” Kagami answered. “It was when we first partook in that fencing tournament. Ladybug called me in for help for the first time then.”
“Oh, I was your first?” Travis said excitedly. “I hope I was a great adversary.”
Kagami got a little more serious. “Well, to be honest, I wasn’t looking for a good adversary. Fencing for honor and prestige is different from fighting to save Paris from burning.”
“I guess that’s fair,” Travis said, dejected.
“So, what about you, Vlad?” Cassandra said, changing the subject.
“Well, that’s a bit different,” Vlad said.
In the present, Vlad explained “I basically told them everything.”
“Huh,” Marinette said.
“Are you OK with that?” Vlad asked. “As the guardian?”
Marinette smiled. “Even if I wasn’t, I don’t have much authority over you, holder of the wolf miraculous.”
Vlad chuckled. “Well, you have my allegiance.”
Marinette chuckled in return. “But, since you seem to trust them enough with that information, I’d say it’s fine. So, is that it?”
“Nope,” Vlad answered.
“Well then, continue,” Marinette insisted.
“Please do,” Emilie said. “I am absolutely enthralled.”
“Very well” Vlad acquiesced. “Before I begin, a lot of what happens next I got from Max.” Marinette nodded. “Heh. Well…”
When the group heading to Ondine’s place got there, Ondine knocked on her door. A man, Ondine’s dad, a beanpole-looking guy wearing a black turtleneck, black pants, glasses, and combed back shoulder-length black hair opened the door. “Hi dad,” Ondine said.
Ondine’s dad rushed to give her a hug. “I’m so glad you’re safe, angel.”
“Daaad,” Ondine said, slightly embarrassed. She eventually hugged him back. “I’m glad you’re safe too.”
They let go of each other. Ondine’s dad called out. “Honey! Ondine’s home!”
They walked up. Ondine called out “Papa!” It was another man. He was muscular, had short orange hair, a beard that was as long as their neck, a white shirt, and navy blue sweatpants. Ondine hugged him as well.
“Ah, sweetie, good to see you too,” Ondine’s papa said, hugging her as well. He looked out at everyone else. “My, it seems like you’ve got quite a crowd of people.”
“Ah, yes, well,” Ondine said, breaking off from her papa, “there’s something you should know.”
Ondine’s papa looked at everyone else. “Well, it seems serious. Come on in.” Everyone flowed into Ondine’s house. They sat around Ondine’s living room, as Ondine’s dad offered drinks and snacks. After an explanation, Ondine’s papa said “I see…”
“I just really want to make sure my sis is in good hands, you know?” Luc finished explaining.
“Well, don’t worry,” Ondine’s papa said. “Your sister’s safe with us.”
“Ondine has told us so much about Katelyn, how can we NOT like her?” Ondine’s dad added.
“Besides,” Ondine’s papa said, “how can I say no to another trans man?”
Luc was stunned. “You’re trans as well?”
Ondine’s papa nodded. “Although I’m a little late to the party. Pretty much five seconds after Ondine told us she was trans, I realized I was as well.”
“Well, you look, and are, amazing,” Luc said.
“Thank you” Ondine’s papa said.
Katelyn smiled. “Um, thank you” she let out.
Ondine’s papa smiled back. “You’re welcome.”
“C’mon, let me show you around!” Ondine said, excitedly. She dragged Katelyn around her house giving off a tour of everything. Meanwhile, Max smiled, knowing his girlfriend was in good hands.
Later that night, Vlad had returned home from spending time with Kagami, Travis, and Casandra. “Well Beyyo, are you ready?” Beyyo nodded. “Well then.”
Before Vlad could transform, Pegasus entered in via his powers. “Um, mind if I join you?”
Vlad smiled. “I was going to ask you, but you beat me to it.” Pegasus smiled back. “Beyyo! Fangs Sharpen!” He transformed into Judgement Wolf.
“Gallop!” Pegasus said. He opened another portal, and he and Judgement Wolf walked through.
They found themselves in Le Grand Paris, standing in front of a sleeping Katelyn. Pegasus blushed. Nooroo appeared. “So soon?” he inquired.
“The sooner the better, right?” Judgement Wolf said. He turned to Pegasus. “My test for her might be a bit much. So you gotta be there for her once it’s over.” Pegasus nodded.
“Very well” Nooroo relented. “If Pegasus is coming too.”
Judgement Wolf nodded. “Wolf Mist!” He created his mist, thrust it upon Katelyn, and he, Pegasus, and Nooroo entered.
Katelyn had arrived at Max’s table upon Max’s request. “Hey” she said. She noticed Max looked despondent. “What’s up?
Max sighed. “I guess there’s no easy way to say this. I think we should break up.”
“WHAT?!” Pegasus yelled.
“Easy” Judgement Wolf replied. “I get you’re upset, but this is the best thing I could think of.”
“She’ll pass,” Nooroo said, assuredly.
“What makes you so sure?” Judgement Wolf asked.
“I’ve seen a lot of people akumatized under Hawk Moth,” Nooroo began explaining, “but she’s something special. And as much as Hawk Moth was a villain, he was smart, and he made a good choice on who to give me too.”
“I see,” Judgement Wolf said. “Let’s see if you’re correct.”
Back in the dream, Katelyn went pale. “Oh.”
“Are you OK?” Max said.
“Yeah,” Katelyn answered. “Yeah. I guess...I guess we’re not a couple anymore. Excuse me. I need some air.” Katelyn walked off, and then started running. Once she was outside on the steps, she started bawling her eyes out.
Once she could cry no more, she lifted her head from her hands. Her eyes were as red as can be. She fished out the butterfly miraculous from her pocket. She gripped it tightly. “I’m sorry.” She got up and walked off.
A few minutes later, she knocked on a door. Marinette opened it up. “Katelyn? What are you doing here?”
After some silence, Katelyn let out “Max broke up with me.”
Marinette was shocked.”I’m so sorry.”
Katelyn sighed. “I’m here to relinquish the butterfly miraculous.”
“WHAT?” Marintte exclaimed.
“You’ve known Max longer out of the two of us,” Katelyn explained, “and I don’t want to make you choose between the two of us.” Marinette looked on, still stunned by this whirlwind of news. “I hope we can still be friends.”
Before Marinette could answer, the world faded to white around Katelyn. “Well,” Judgement Wolf said. Katelyn turned to him to also see Pegasus and Nooroo. “I will admit, there were a few things you could have done to pass, but I wasn’t expecting this one.”
“I didn’t give him the idea,” Pegasus nervously explained.
“You should have seen him when he saw what this test was about,'' Judgement Wolf added. “He was furious.”
Katelyn looked at Pegasus. “You were?”
“Well…” Pegasus blushed. He then collected himself and walked over to his lady love. “Of course I was. I would never do that to you.” He wrapped his arms around her and gave her a kiss.
After the kiss, Nooroo flew up to Katelyn. “I knew you could do it.”
“Thanks,” Katelyn said.
“You should hear from Beyyo soon” Judgement Wolf explained.
“Wait!” Katelyn said. “If it’s all the same to you, can I choose the time?”
“Why?” Jugement Wolf asked.
“Well, Pegasus here presented an idea to me earlier, and I want to follow through on it tomorrow” Katelyn explained. “I want him to meet me after that.”
“Very well,” Judgement Wolf answered. “Pegasus, let’s go. It appears you have plans tomorrow.” Pegasus nodded, and he left.
Before leaving, Nooroo said “See you later.” Judgement Wolf left with a nod of understanding, and Katelyn gave one back.
The next day, Pegasus teleported into Carter’s room. “Pegasus?” he exclaimed in confusion.
“Do you wish to be a force for good again?” Pegasus asked. Carter nodded. “Take my hand, and bring your controller.” Carter did so, and together they walked through the portal.
They found themselves at Parc des Princes. Carter seemed confused. Up in the stands, in the shadows, a tenshi was released. It flew down towards Carter. Carter looked at Pegasus, and Pegasus nodded. Carter held up his controller, and the tenshi fused with it.
“Nighthawk. I am Monarch” she said. We see Monarch in her full uniform. She had purple butterfly-shaped sunglasses, a purple dress stylized to look like a butterfly, dark purple gloves that covered most of her arms, black tights, and black Mary Janes. “Your friend, Katelyn, has left her parents house.”
“Is she lost?” Carter asked.
“No,” Monarch answered. “She did this on her own volition. She’s leaving for good.”
“Oh” Carter said, shocked. He thought about it. “I guess that sort of makes sense. From what I’ve seen, they aren’t the most welcome.”
“However, all of her stuff is still at her house,” Monarch continued. “Can I trust you to retrieve it all?”
Carter smiled. “Very much so.”
“Good,” Monarch said. Carter transformed into Nighthawk. Pegasus fetched Gerard, Laurence, and Terry for extra man-power. Together, they arrived at Katelyn’s old house, much to the surprise of her parents, and grabbed all of her stuff. Monarch guided them on what that was.
After they took everything, they piled it up in Parc des Princes. “Thank you,” Pegasus told them. “We’ll take it from here.”
Nighthawk nodded. “No problem. And Monarch. If you ever need anything in the future, I’m available for you any day of the week.”
Monarch smiled. “Thank you.” She recalled the tenshi, and Pegasus took them back to their respective homes. Soon after, they worked on transporting all of this to Ondine’s house.
In the present, Vlad was wrapping everything up. “Once that got settled, Beyyo came to her and gave his seal of approval as well. And I guess that’s it.”
“Oh” Marinette said.
“What a wonderful ending” Emilie said.
“So, yeah,” Adrien began, “I guess that’s the biggest thing that has happened since you’ve been out. Otherwise, it’s basically been the city trying to work to get itself going again, and father’s arrest.”
Marinette thought. “Well, I guess I need to work to get myself going again too. I can’t stay here forever.” Adrien smiled. Suddenly, someone appeared at the door. They all looked. “Katelyn?”
Katelyn was surprised and overjoyed to see Marinette awake. Max walked up. “Wait up next time.” He looked in. “Marinette! You’re awake!” Marinette nodded.
Katelyn walked over to Marinette’s bed. Adrien could tell that something was about to happen, so he politely stepped out of Katelyn’s way. Katelyn came face to face with Marinette. Marinette seemed confused and concerned, while Katelyn was embarrassed, but also trying to keep a brave face.
Finally, Katelyn began to speak. “Marinette…Ladybug...I know that the holder of the wolf miraculous approved of me, and based on my understanding, that is a lot, but I want to hear it from you. Do you accept me having this ?” She held up the butterfly miraculous.
Everyone in the room was surprised. After the initial shock, Marinette calmed down and said “Yes.” This surprised Katelyn. “To be honest, while we haven’t interacted a whole lot, I’ve seen a very noticeable difference in Max since the two of you started dating. I think you draw out the best in him, and he the best in you. And with you on the team, I think that can be very helpful, not to mention fun. Plus, I can only assume that going forward, we’ll become even better friends.”
Katelyn was stunned throughout this explanation. As soon as she processed it, she started crying and smiled. “Thank you, Ladybug.”
