I’ve had this AU idea in my head for a while, but I’m just now finally doing something with it.

It is a pretty standard roleswap AU, but just to clarify some things:

This is NOT a personality swap. Characters may differ in their personalities, but any changes to personality are done only so the character can plausibly fit the “role” they’ve been swapped into.

Only the contestants have swapped roles! Outside characters like Cobs and Meeple products such as Mephone4 and Mepad have also not changed roles.

Their conversation leads to MePad introducing Taco to this thing called Tumblr, suggesting that instead of dwelling on lost connections by letters, she could try making new ones here. It's a nice little moment of growth for Taco, don't you think?

We're picking up after Microphone's reality check on Taco and after Taco's whole ordeal with kidnapping MePad. Lonely and needing someone to talk to, Taco switches MePad back on from slumber mode. And instead of just using him as a pawn like she did before with anyone else, she's opening up a bit, showing some genuine sincerity. Maybe some honesty wouldn't hurt.

Well...-

*drags MePad away from the group to avoid possibly glitching them out*

-It all started after the whole Me Life Icon experiment LB tried, Fan went outside to get his head cleared from the traumatizing experience and we decided to give him the idea of going to the Cave for a chance to find a Gemory as a way to help cheer him up(considering his fascination with the OGs and their origins). It worked! But...when he touched the gem, instead of showing one of MePhone's memories, it showed one of OG Fan's memory(specifically, that time when you guys went to Meeple for the first time to retrieve a battery for MePhone).

While this was happening, the other bright lights + Bot went off to look for him and the cave. They decided to split off to cover more ground(Bot with TT and LB with PB), Bot then started to ask questions about what happened to the OGs and whats up with the reboots. We answered them the best we could, stating how it was similar to their experience during invitationals/season 3. TT started to glitch due to the info and basically was why she had to be revived, the same thing happened to LB after she went to touch the gem, unlike Fan though she got a more...traumatizing memory than a light hearted one(specifically the one where she turned...inanimate). PB tried to calm her down but it unfortunately didnt work, what happens after that is currently unimportant(youre have to ask Fan and MePhone what happened).

A few shenanigans later, someone decided it would be a fun idea to send these three to the Cave, and I couldnt help but join in on it-

UNRELATED BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY A REALLY GOOD RECAP !!!

Hope you don't mind but I'll probably actually do this for a RECAP TAG !!!

So I'm going to add onto it here:

MELIFE EXPERIMENT ?

While Mephone was around during the Uno Arc, Lightbulb decided to experiment something as his MeLife screen was open.

Holding a MeLife icon for around 3 seconds pops up more icons of the same symbol! Doing so for Test Tube showed the original icon, a pink "Silly Tube" icon, and a glitched out green Test Tube icon.

Curious, they select the green one, which brings out a green silhouetted generation of Test Tube. But after a moment, she simply glitches out.

Everyone got shocked and concerned. Eventually, they decided to try it with Fan too! Since he got crushed by a piano. The same result happens as they press the new glitched red Fan icon, and the generation also glitches out.

This causes Mephone4 to leave, and so did the Lightseekers.

Uncomfortable, alot of people flee.

Lightbulb freaks out believing she messed everything up and went too far.

Test Tube gets existential, unsure on what they're supposed to be.

And Fan just straight out runs out for a breather. This leads to Fan getting suggested to go to Gemory Cave

GEMORY CAVE CONTINUATION

After Paintbrush attempts to calm Lightbulb down, she glitches out in a similiar way to Test Tube.

Test Tube gets recovered behind the scenes, having no recollection of gemory cave or their glitch outs.

With the gang (mostly) back together, they go to exit the cave. Although that was made a bittttt difficult with Fan having been catified. But he gets un-catified, and an asker suggests a way to get them out quicker so Lightbulb can come back for Paintbrush.

So they teleport them to MePhone! Which causes them to teleport to Meeple.

MEEPLE

They get teleported outside of Cobs' office door, where Cobs and Mephone4 were having a talk. Bot, Fan and Paintbrush all teleport outside of it.

They considered entering before hearing a voice, which made them flee to a bedroom area (likely one of the nursing rooms.) By then, Paintbrush got catified, which made the scenario more difficult. (Painty tried to not get catified but fell down from stress to resist the cat string any longer.)

Needing to get Mephone4, Fan runs out on his own to find him at the office. So he decides to quickly check if Mephone4 was there or not.

Mephone4 wasn't in the office, and it appeared empty. So Fan decided to enter out of dumb curiosity. This causes him to get caught by Cobs, which panics Fan. Fan makes up a false story, which somehow convinces Cobs.

With Fan's fake story involving a phone, Cobs offers him one. He takes him to the phones on display, and Fan chooses a Mephone 12 without much thought. (The gemory Fan witnessed was the one where the contestants went to Meeple, at a moment where original Fan was shown to own a meeple phone. This caused R!Fan to want to own one only to be closer to the og counterpart.)

Cobs goes to finalize the decision on his own phone before asking Fan how he'd pay. After admitting he doesn't have any way to pay and he mustve forgotten it somewhere, Cobs let's Fan have the phone for free.

Cobs tells him to come back in 2 days, which Fan accepts.

Despite it being from Meeple, Fan was excited since he could get something similar to what the original Fan had.

The askers were upset about this lol

Meanwhile, Mephone4 finds Bot and Paintbrush, now panicked that they're here in the first place. Fan arrives soon after, and Mephone4 eventually shoves all 3 of them back to the Underground Hotel-Lab place, including Lightbulb, who he recovers when he finds them.

Lightbulb, similarly to Test Tube, also has no memories of Gemory Cave.

Insert Catpocalypse here.

After the end of the catpocalypse, everyone is asleep in a cat nap pile. Paintbrush, not realizing during their cat mode, finds Lightbulb ay-ok next to them. This causes them to be relieved and hug Lightbulb.

Slight Lightbrush antics ensue.

MEANWHILE, THE ASKERS GO CRAZY ON FAN. SENDING HIM TO MARS, TRAPPING HIM INTO A PIANO, AND SURROUNDING SAID PIANO WITH FAN PLUSHIES. That stuff is kinda irrelevant.

After some hijinxs, Fan, Lightbulb, Paintbrush, Test Tube, Bot and Suitcase all go to attend the Lightseekers Fantube Wedding

(Aka the part I was afraid to recap)

(CROSSOVER) FANTUBE WEDDING

(You can likely find a better recap at the Lightseekers ! But I'll do a mini-recap here!!)

The Reboots gang go to TLS to watch the wedding !! Because why not !! It totally wasn't awkward !!!

Yay wedding !

After the wedding, they all joke around, including making The Lightseekers Cobs drunk off sillystring infused liquid.

Then there's a catpoclypse/petpoclypse at the lightseekers, Lightbulb turning into a kitty and laying on top of Fan.

Having too much chaos, kittified Lightbulb had to be blasted by the Test Tubes, which also blasts Fan in the process.

The two get recovered back in the Reboots dimension. Since Test Tube had their dimension traveling device, Lightbulb and Fan couldn't go back.

Eventually all the madness stopped as the Lightseekers got reset. Bot, Suitcase, Test Tube and Paintbrush then had to help their other dimensional friends get back to normal.

I'm not recapping the entirety of this part as all of this is related to the Lightseekers, not Reboots.

Test Tube unplugs a strange orb during their time there, which she oddly wants to keep. The Lightseekers also eventually go back to normal thanks to their help.

Lightbulb n Fan

[Its been 2 days since the Meeple visit when they died]

After DYING at TLS Dimension, Fan and Lightbulb had some time on their hands.

Lightbulb decides to take this moment to try using her electricity, while Fan was sorta just there lol.

In the struggle of wanting to use her electricity, the gemory was offered as a suggestion.

Fan immediately declined the option, though Lightbulb was unsure as she was being thrown lies and truths all over the place if the gemory was good or not.

As Lightbulb was indecisive on how to use emotion for her electricity or if she should try the gemory, someone shatters a piece of her bulb out of impatience.

This causes a break from the electricity conversation, and gives Lightbulb time to heal from the injury. Then the gemory was brought up again, and Fan was there to argue.

Fan disagreed until the originals came into conversation, which made him want to experience the gemory instead !!

The 2 eventually decided to both touch the gemory at the same time, which caused them both to pass out.

The two had a shared dream, where memory versions of the originals were there to talk to them. They asked a few questions, while Fan got a bit fidgety.. needing them to wake up.

They wake up, and Lightbulb talks to the askers about stuff. Yuri stuff. And talking got her her spark due to getting flustered!!

As Lightbulb talked, Fan left the scene.

It wasn't until an hour later that Lightbulb went to search for Fan.

She eventually finds him outside, wondering where he's been!?...

Fan doesn't say this directly to Lightbulb, but he does say he declined Cobs' offer of a new phone. He said he lied that he was from a different dimension and was already getting a phone from that Meeple. Which apparently Cobs believed, letting Fan off the hook.

Now with Fan back, Lightbulb drags him back to the Hotel-Lab.

And that leads to basically what's going on rn

Fan & LB shortly find TT at the lab grabbing TLS!Cabby's files. Fan spots the orb TT got from the TLS as well.

Lightbulb goes to do a snowball fight at TLS while Fan takes the orb and heads outside for a bit.

Meanwhile, Taco, Microphone, and Cucumber are led to Gemory Cave and founded by Mepad.

That's pretty much all!

[4s-status]

“I’ll be back” The Theory on 4S

This is a long one, and is also extremely image heavy. This theory contains heavy spoilers for all of II Season 2. For simplicity, I’ll be referring to MePhones as their numbers.

So I’ve been trying to compile this for a while now, but I believe that the II team has been hinting at 4S returning. In fact this has been going on for quite some time now, as early as "A Kick in the Right Direction.”

We know that, as of the end of Season 1, 4S’s code is within 4, because he downgraded himself to revive 4. We also know that 4′s initial death is heavily tied to Bow, and her own death. 

"A Kick in the Right Direction,” the 5th episode of Season 2, begins with talk of Bow and how 4 cannot recover her due to also being dead at the time. We also get a glimpse of 4 looking at a “MeOS” update on his system for a few moments, and when Marshmallow walks up he acts like its something she shouldn’t see.

“This will cause your MePhone’s appearance to drastically change, and turn into a weapon of mass destruction. Oh, and you can’t switch it back... EV-ER. So yeah, make a choice.”

Remember that 4S had to downgrade to revive 4. Also, 4S was built to be dangerous, at least towards 4. This upgrade sounds like it would return 4 to 4S, and make him unable to return to 4.

Now onto the obvious episode, “Theft and Battery.” 

Its come to my attention there’s a bunch of moments where 4′s screen turns partially or even mostly red while he is glitching out, which would be an obvious nod to 4S. There are even moments of glitch with only blue and red mixed. I think the II team wants to make sure we don’t forget 4S exists. Note that most of the red and red/blue glitches occur right before he shuts off. Also note that the bottom of 4′s screen even seems a bit redder, though this is more noticeable when 4 tells MePad to “hurry it up already.”

We learn a lot about Meeple later in this episode, but nothing else is specifically relevant to this theory. There are ways it can be related, but it wouldn't directly support my point.

Jump to “Kick the Bucket.” Fan is flipping out about his “two teams win in a row” theory. He holds up this sign, exclaiming about how “anything is possible now.”

“Each team must win twice in a row in order to split the focus equally amongst the contestants. There are more subtle ways of doing this, but those would require genuine creativity. If anything occurs to somehow disrupt this monotonous pattern, well, basically, barriers will fall from alignment, a hole will be forged in the depths of time, pasts will be exposed, and other otherworldly forces will reign, among other things, probably.”

Barriers will fall from alignment: Marshmallow leaves the parameters of the show and does not return.

A hole will be forged in the depths of time: All of “Alternate Reality Show,” the next episode. 

Pasts will be exposed: We saw to the past and other parallel futures in “Alternate Reality Show,” but I do not think anything major was “exposed.” I believe this may refer to 4S, as he is a part of the past that could very well be “exposed.”

Other otherworldly forces will reign: Cobs???????? “Anything is possible now”...

Moving on to “Alternate Reality Show,” it may have just been a segway into 4S returning in the coming episode. Nothing specifically relating to this theory happened, just that it heavily nods to Season 1 is enough.

Now, this isn't all. You may have noticed 4S being hidden in many episodes, and the wiki will tell you that. That’s just another way the crew wants to make sure we don’t forget him. I know @cspel (it won't let me tag sorry) mentioned to me this one in particular from “Marsh on Mars.” (He has his own theory on 4S that you can read here.) I think it’s interesting the animator decided to depict 4S as being sad or scared.

Now, everyone remembers those lovely character pages that were coming out on Wednesdays not too long ago. Its interesting that not only do competitors from Season 1 do not get pages, but neither do 4 and his cohosts. I think this may be because they could maybe give 4S a page too and do them all at once, but I know this is a stretch. 

Finally some personal opinions on how this could go down. A recent tweet by Adam has a background done for the upcoming episode of a sunset.

It is likely the episode will come out at the end of the month, and as such could be a Halloween episode. It is worth noting that 4S first appeared in Season1′s Halloween Special. Also, we know the contest will be Treasure Hunting. This may in itself have something to do with “pasts will be exposed”, as discoveries are made when digging something up. In fact, all the choices for contests for the upcoming episode had to do with digging in some way...

But anyway, that’s my theory. I don’t really have much more to say, but feel free to ask me questions about it!

OUUUGGGH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS,,, it makes me so happy that ppl like him (even tho I never properly posted him lol) waugh,,, :'))))))

I did sort of? Write down what I did? I used this grid:

To make sure he was as on-model as possible and to count my stitches, but I did use two skeins (with I thiiiink a 6.5m hook?) at once to make him Bigger. His screen is a ball of pink and a ball of purple put together (i think the pink was a 4 weight and the purple a 3 or 4? I lost the tags ages ago), and I did do color changes for the screen edges the whole time. Admittedly I would have wanted to topstitch said edges to make it more crisp but black yarn is a frustrating beast so I Gave Up.

- I did topstitch his mouth line on, but the electric-y bits that show he's talking were just regular stitches, anchored in the middle where the mouth line was.

- His back i didn't count whatsoever, I just did rows of double crochets that matched lengthwise until I got it tall enough to match his front. If memory serves, I had to add at least one row of single crochets to match Exactly but I didn't write it down so. yeah. (And I did also add the little apple to his back that I will show under the cut bc this is already getting wayyyyy too long of a response lol)

- his sides were probably the most frustrating tbh. I marked all four corners of his screen and did (with two skeins of weight 4 grey) double crochets in the back loops all the way around, doing two in the corners so it would turn properly. I had written down how many stitches tall he was (bc I had the grid) so I just used that to make sure I did enough. Then i stuffed him and sewed on the back panel (in the back loops as well)

- i didn't do this with mepad bc I didn't have enough, but I've crocheted a small MePhone4S (that is currently in the possession of Brian Koch so I cannot confirm if it helps long term) and put a layer of hard felt in the inside to maintain a flat shape rather than a bulbous one bc. they're electronics. But that is also an option

- legs I actually have a pattern for lol! bc I've doneeee. three or four different ii plushies and this is the best way ive found to do it:

• chain 4 sc, turn work, slip stitch into second st from hook, dc, sc

• chain 9, turn work, 8 slip stitches down the leg, and there'll be a little gap at the very end to slip stitch into as well (if ever needed, I can DM you a tutorial bc I know it's not written down that easily to understand)

- and oh gosh. I think I've been crocheting for at least 6-7 years? it's hard to pin down exactly bc I did my first piece in a girl scouts camp and I Do Not remember how long ago that was,,, and my first piece was so tight it was barely able to be worked into lol. My best advice for not making your stitches too tight (if you want my advice at all) is to make sure you can very easily move your loops on your hook. I always tug my stitches out a little so there's a gap between my hook and loop, but it's taken years to get the hang of and even now I find myself making pieces that are too tight (usually with single crochets or slip stitches). And usually I can tell my stitches are way too tight when it hurts my hands too much if that makes sense? if I'm more relaxed with my hands in general then my stitches aren't as small. Again, no idea if this makes sense or helps at all but ! crocheting is funnnn and I love sharing my patterns if/when I actually do them hehe.

The apple is felt, sewn on with some floss string (like for cross stitching), and the button on his front is the same. Black felt, white floss. It's off center but we don't talk about that !!!

I was going to DM you or send you an ask about my questions, but you don't accept either of those things. Instead of seeing if fanmail still exists, I'm just going to say things publicly and if you wanna ignore me that is a-okay.

First of all he's fantastic. Incredibly on-model. Makes me smile! Great choice to use variegated for the screen!! The attention to detail of having his side be gray too. TLDR: makes me happy!!

My questions:

-did you write down what you did? Is there any way for me to receive your notes, I'll pay for em if you'd like me to.

-if you didn't write down what you did, can you give me guesstimates? Obviously you don't get straight edges like that without counting your stitches. About how many rows? About how many stitches for the "metal" side? Did you crochet his screen separately and sew it down or do color changes?

-I'm also curious what yarn and hook size you used but that's less important

And finally

-how long have you been crocheting? It's a very impressive piece to me, considering I'm somebody who's really bad at making my chain stitches not be incredibly tight. Also just because it looks great.
