Well, well, well...
10 years of All or Nothing.
I made this post when I was 20 years old and there was basically no asexual/pansexual rep in media.
I'm 30 years old now and...well, there still isn't a lot, but at least we have Todd on Bojack Horseman and that guy from Schitt's Creek?
A lot has changed in the past 10 years, both in the world and within myself. Looking back on the anxious, self-criticising barely-adult that I was back then really helps to put things into perspective.
Despite the Everything that's happened with this post, I'm still glad it's around and that it's circulating - a little slice of classic 2014 tumblr nostalgia.
To everyone who has gotten something positive out of this post - I'm glad I was able to brighten even a small part of your lives, even for a moment.
To everyone who's amazed I'm still here - Same, honestly. Please keep adding such comments though, each one gives me more power so that I may one day ascend from this mortal shell.
To everyone who's left unnecessary negativity on the post - Okay 👍
And to everyone who may be wondering 'how does one celebrate the anniversary of such a momentous part of history?'
In the most asexual way possible:
Happy All or Nothing, y'all.
An asexual and pansexual become room-mates and have wacky adventures
The show is called ‘All or Nothing’

in all honesty I hope they don’t announce s4 of Hannibal, not because of any truly valid concerns, but because all the promotional material was absolutely atrocious and I’d hate to see it return
#people on here are mocking up fake promo posters on canva that encapsulate the dark romantic gory drama of it all#and then the real promos look like. a bad sitcom set in an airplane hanger#nobody is dressed right the lighting is deeply ugly the implications are baffling it has nothing to do with the show visually at all#just a nightmare#I have valid and considered concerns which I can elaborate on if pressed#and some which are also partially personal#but mainly I fear the promo material’s horrendous comeback. keep that shit away from me#hannibal#hannibal nbc#hannigram#will graham#hannibal lecter#mads mikkelsen#hugh dancy

rewatching the tyrus storyline and kira wanted tj so bad it’s embarrassing like she was really throwing herself onto a boy who was clearly giving major heart eyes to his boy best friend right in front of her . like omg she didn’t give a fuckkk she was like i can change him 😍 and she was so wrong like nobody has ever been more wrong
#like thats so funny to me#he did not care at all#cyrus was like ‘u guys are good together’ and tj was like ‘EWWWWW GROSSS i’m not dating her wtf 😭😭😭😭’#obsessed#the closet was glass for him truly#i miss them sm#i forgot how beautiful the bench scene was omg like i was smiling so hard#when tj starts reaching for cyrus’ hand omg i was DYINGGG#my heart can’t handle that sweetness#i can’t believe it’s 2023 and i’m making a tyrus post#going back to my roots :)#this is why tyrus stays in the username forever …. they were everything to me#they will always be like iconic in a way that nothing else could be iconic#okay sorry tyrus rant over i’ll be resuming my regularly scheduled sitcom content shortly 😇💪#tyrus#cyrus goodman#tj kippen#andi mack

As per Tumblr recommendation, I started Kevin can fuck himself yesterday. I see people comment on how the sitcom part makes it look the way people see an abuser and how the abuse can be disguised. People think he is just a funny guy and the abuse goes unnoticed. I personally see it otherwise, although it's similar.
People know he is an asshole. He spends a whole episode being mean to the new neighbours just because. He meets a dangerous guy at a bar, in public. He is an alcoholic who throws weird parties with lots of other people at home. Patty's boyfriend tells her twice in the 3 or 4 conversations we see that he is an idiot. People know, and people avoid him.
And his bubble know, but they justify it and excuse it. And that's the sitcom. The sitcom is the theater of excuses Allison has (and then other characters too) about his behaviour.
"Can you believe it? We were in our anniversary, such a fun party, we were both super drunk and I don't know how it ended, that I was face down on the floor and the table was broken! Anniversa-rager we call it lol"
"He is such a clumsy guy that just as I was leaving the house, you won't believe that I don't know how he managed to cover me in chilli sauce! What a silly goose!"
"He is so helpless without me, he couldn't find the printer and he called me all day because he needed me to explain to him how to work it. And he worries too! He called the cops because he didn't know where I was, maybe I forgot to tell him".
The conversations with her coworker about husbands help drive this point. That's what mariage is. You find ways to justify it and to avoid certain fights and that's it. We got lucky.
But he did all these things on purpose. And the unreliable narrator of the sitcom makes the joke of it and makes the audience consider that maybe it isn't *that bad*. Allison needs to believe that's what it is, so it is. It really isn't that bad, she thinks, he is just like that.
And we can actually see the worrying things and the threatening parts from minute one. It's only a joke because we have been trained to dismiss it. To justify it and to move on. He isn't doing any heavy lifting here.
In episode 1, just the fact that he ends up standing on the table (when she doesn't want him to even put glasses on without protection) says a lot. But then the table breaks and he fixes it poorly and visibly. It would be bad enough just like this, but I personally think there is more to it. It's just that Allison doesn't want to speak about it or look at it so it is just the table, but it's the switch that turns on for her, the last drop. But she did end face down on her living room, on top of the broken table. It's a very elegant narrative tool where we don't see, but if we wanted to see, it's there.
And the more she notices, the more off-putting the sitcom is. It's still played as a joke, with the laugh track, but she is more aware now, so we can notice too.
We start the series with her turning point, but if the series started a year before that, it would only be happening in her house, as it is her life, her only frame of reference, and it would only be a sitcom because isn't he such a clumsy but caring guy?
#kevin can fuck himself#I have so many thoughts about this series#I have 2 examples of the top of my head of social situations that reflect on this sitcom idea#1 of them when she finally divorced him everyone in the village congratulated her#nobody liked him. he created trouble wherever he went. he had felony charges all over the place.#there was not much anybody could do. His sisters (not hers. HIS) came years before to tell her to divorce him and still#people knew. he didn't charm anybody. he didn't pretend he was the perfect husband#and another one was much less violent but things had to be as he liked them when he liked them where he liked them#I was in that group of friends for 3 months and left because it was boring but also because there was nothing for me to do#he didn't have a job yet his wife had to cook after work for all his friends in the day we all met#a long time friend of his barely came to his dinners and said that he only hang out with him at bars where he could get drunk#because he couldn't stand him while not drunk#so his wife would be isolated from many people because many of the people who used to hang out with him just didn't want to be there#I don't know if she had her own friends#this is just to say: people know and the victim is still isolated because eventually there is nothing people can do#there is no hollywood solution to it#and: the victim is isolated even when there is people to chat with them and help them out#the victim isolates themself. The abuser isolates them on purpose. and the whole situation is very difficult to handle from the outside.

Is the video game really subverting its genre? Are you sure it's not just doing clever things within its genre, because otherwise the game would be boring and unchallenging and say nothing interesting? I'm just saying, it's cool and all that the internet allows horror game fandoms to overflow into eachother, but not EVERY 2 hour video essay needs to be spent breathlessly sucking off the devs. Sometimes a game is just REGULAR difficult and REGULAR high-quality.
Besides RPGs made over a decade ago, what is the thing supposedly subverting? Clearly not other contemporary indie horror games, because there is clearly a convergent ethos forming of cosmic horror and beginners' traps; that's just what the genre looks like nowadays.
#pathologic#fear and hunger#inscryption#in general I just hate overly reverent video essays; you guys ruined Airbender for me#this is NOT me hating on Pathologic!#Icepick is a good studio; their story is interesting their characters are well written#introducing needs decay mechanics into a first-person adventure game is a good idea; I just wouldn't call it “subversive”#this IS me hating a little bit on Patho fans just because I think hyperbole about the game's difficulty is tedious#and distracts from an equally valid conversation about what you get if you approach the game like a sandbox#I get it the algorithm incentivizes youtubers to talk about every new game like it's a complete departure from what came before#but if everything is special nothing is#and i swear if one more person tries to read me HP Lovecraft's wikipedia page like i was born yesterday im going to scream#Just saying; if fucking with the player's expectations is all it takes to be “subversive” then Stick of Truth is “subverting its genre”#except... no... Stick of Truth is a bog standard RPG just with a quirky tutorial#and creative integration of its off-beat story and mechanics RIGHT??#my point is Patho and F&H aren't actually much different; they still play like RPGs still handle like RPGs#the fact that you die more than you would in COD or Skyrim or whatever doesn't make it the “anti-RPG”#anymore than Seinfeld was the “anti-sitcom”#“subversiveness” is just a basic bitch way to analyze things; and I think “How does the art take ADVANTAGE of its genre?” is better#media criticism

Everyone loves me and I'm so so so employable<- affirmations
#twist rambles#i got... another interview lined up monday 😭 which is great other than the insane amt of stress im gonna be under for like 3 days straight#not including weekends. its gonna be soooo bad for my fibro 😭 and im getting the only non scary interview done today. or ig that was#yesterday since it was a phone call one. but today its w a optho office and hopefully will be ok .. and then tomorrow its. well sitcom level#of weird shit. so its at a hotel right. i got a call abt it and due to my auditory processing issues and general anxiety and sleepy nature#completely forgot the hotel name. could just look it up right? WRONG. hotel doing renovations so its at a separate building. when looking#that and the phone up it gave me nothing. the issue is i applied 2 3 different hotels in (town) and all of which are different positions#and times. so i have no clue what to prep for. dreading this one v much. and then the next one is an electricians office doing hr and data#entry but they have horrible reviews and apparently aren't great w safety. which is genuinely scary. tbf only 2 reviews total but still.#so needless to say i wm very anxious this morning. gotta kill like 7 hrs and also not puke.#emeto#for the tags<-

tfw you’re dog sitting in the granny flat of your high school besties family home and you’re not planning on even going into the main house at all but the constant rain scuppered your laundry plans so when you turn up for day one (of eight) you decide to pop into the main house to run a load only to find the kitchen has sprung a not–insignificant leak 🤡
#had to call her emergency contact uncle and be like. hey i’m a total stranger in your brothers house and it’s leaking :-) please help :-)#he came over right away and stopped the leak + helped soak up as much as we could#but their under counter cabinets are probably busted#and also their kitchen looks like a bomb hit it because we pulled all the appliances + drawers out#and all the doors are open to air out#haven’t told them because it’s not that serious and there’s nothing that needs to be done right now but#am not looking forward for them to come home four days before christmas to hear about how their house almost flooded#like if i hadnt had to do my laundry there’s a good chance the place would have flooded flooded over eight days#anyways. my life continues to be like a badly written sitcom#personal

kieran wasn't w morrigan during veilguard bc he's being the weird older brother his equally weird half-sister deserves while her mother is off strangling darkspawn again
quite genuinely, rivka & alistair's daughter is 15 during vg & i think rivka and morrigan took one look at what was about to go down and then looked at their weird kids and said "if shit hits the fan, hop through that elluvian and we'll find you when this is all over"
#mara.txt#they're getting into dangerous shenanigans but it's all played as a sitcom so nothing bad ever actually happens to them

au where corey still doesn't get over the accident, but instead of emotionally shutting down, his mood issues get steadily worse and he snaps and starts killing the asshole guys who bring their cars to prevo and, as soon as they recognise who he is, talk down to him/harass him about what happened. [insert kill bill sirens]. ronald helps him cover it up.
#corey cunningham#i wrote this as a joke post about a sitcom-esque murder situation#but i think there's something in this actually#corey who does become outwardly more abrasive and violent after the accident#corey who's always struggled to regulate his moods and emotions and instead of shutting down --#-- he finds it more difficult than ever to keep himself steady#and joan does nothing to help because she thinks he's just acting out so her treatment of him gets worse --#-- and it all spirals into a breakdown that happens way before laurie or allyson or michael come into his life

good parts about Lab Rats vs Mighty Med:
- Kaz and Leo's friendship
- an idea of what Elite Force could've been if it was good
bad parts about Lab Rats vs Mighty Med
- everything else
#lab rats#mighty med#mine.#sorry to be a hater but its just. not very good lol#the bree/oliver/skylar love triangle is painfully dumb and uninteresting#leo gets sidelined AGAIN#like the writers went out of their way to do an ''''intelligence swap'''' just so chase could save HIMSELF#because god forbid the main character gets to drive the plot in any way#and the incapicitator is kind of mid as a villain#like i dont mind one-off one-dimensional villains; theyre disney xd sitcoms after all#and theres nothing wrong with a monster-of-the-week format#but it feels like a jarring and unnecessary diversion for mighty med considering theyre in the middle of the mr. terror plotline
