i know you dont usually get caught up in polyamory discourse super often but good fucking lord, anti-polyam people are so insane. "if someone im dating said they wanted to be polyam, it must be because im Not Enough For Them and i'd [describes graphic suicide and/or murder]" like. wow. one: your romantic partner should not be your sole emotional support, and two: if you were "not enough for them" they would probably just. leave you?? asking to be polyamorous means knowingly and willfully preserving their relationship with you in a world that tries to force monogamy on everyone. it really should be interpreted as an act of continuing commitment because they weighed the options between breaking up w u to pursue someone else and still trying to stay with you while adding a third person and still chose to stay with you. speaking as someone who made that decision once in my life, i chose to be polyam because i loved two people with equal intensity and the idea of being forced to choose between them made me want to die.
the way these people speak in such violent and hyperbolic hypotheticals just really makes me think of conservative parents who talk about beating their kids if they turn out gay/trans. like seriously. anti-polyam people are so drenched in jealousy that they imagine killing themselves at the mere THOUGHT of having a polyamorous partner and it drives me insane that people will say shit like that and then turn around and try to eject polyamorous people from queer spaces on the grounds that polyam ppl aren't oppressed or mistreated. like. polyam ppl cant get married to all their partners. huh. it's almost as if the right to get married to those you love isn't considered an important fundamental right in society any more the moment the assimilationist gays got their gd white picket fence fantasy bullshit.
sorry but i just see so much hatred for polyam people and it gets so fucking old. societally enforced monogamy IS oppressive, some people just refuse to see it as such because they're personally monogamous and knee-jerk hate anyone who isn't. almost like theyre, yknow, bigots or something.
Yeah, that's all fucking bullshit anon. I'm polyam as well and we kick ass. <3

chase md: parks and adams headcanons. Go!
they have no idea they have crushes on one another. bickering and weird pissing contests is just their normal communication and they both enjoy it and think this is normal. i think park is a tiny bit more aware of it as a weird courtship ritual but doesn't know what to do with the awareness that she has a crush on adams, since a) crisis of sexuality b) lowkey conservative upbringing c) would adams even be into her?????
(chase for his part is very aware of what he is seeing but does not want to touch it with a 50 foot pole. you're on your own kids.)
they bring chase into this bullshit quite often. he's the unwilling third member of this love triangle, where a: he is vaguely attracted to but uninterested in adams, b: likes park a lot but isn't attracted to her at all c: is their boss and does not want to repeat history with house-cameron shenanigans, so the whole thing makes him vaguely uncomfortable, he knows park used to crush on him, he doesn't want to go anywhere near this. but adams will flirt with chase to annoy park. park will bring chase packed lunches from home to annoy adams. chase hates having employees.
(it has not occurred to him to say anything about this. confrontation whomst?)
adams is a little bit jealous of park and chase's friendship. like he's friends with her grandma! he's met her parents! and park has never extended any such invitations to adams, you know? and likewise she and chase get along fine, but aren't really friends in that way. part of her posturing is just… she feels left out. she's so performative and repressed, and park is so open with her feelings/thoughts/anger. she's kind of jealous. she doesn't realize she is.
general case division of labor:
adams is the main talk to patients person. she and chase have a really good tag team smarm system going, where chase hangs back until the patients start questioning diagnostics and their results. he then steps in like oh no i'm sooo sorry about my employees [doing the exact same things as them], or he'll play up being an ass so adams can swoop in all compassionate and heroic. combining their rich kid manipulation skills for the greater good.
adams is also the main 'bringer of cases' to diagnostics, although she and chase do butt heads over that a little, because she'll agree to take cases without checking in first. often.
park is the objections and arguments girl. she points out the flaws in any approach, acts as general medical encyclopedia for the others, handles basic patient procedures and care. she's a bit of a better diagnostician than adams is, struggles more with patients. not because she's rude, but she's still a bit rambling and awkward when presenting information.
they can get intensely competitive about cases/diagnosises/who the patient likes better/whatever. chase has to spend a lot of time refereeing. or, because he's chase, assigning them different tasks in different rooms rather than telling them to cut it out.
their three year contracts will run out around the same time. they're both intensely interested in what the other wants to do when hers runs out, but they won't admit it.

here are some of my the hobbit (bilbo baggins) hot takes? i guess????? pt.1
Bilbo Baggins: He is not a skinny twelve year old boy, and it's really weird when artists make him look like one. I've seen some fan art like this and it just makes Thorin look like a creep. It's a funny joke but like... let's be fr Bilbo is not a twink and just because he's a hobbit (no facial hair and short compared to humans) doesn't mean he looks like a child. I personally LOVE chubby Bilbo and I love it even more when you can see some wrinkles in his smiles because he is a very facially expressive person!
Martin Freeman: I don't understand how this... man played two of the gayest characters in fandom culture ever (the infamous Bilbo Baggins and John Watson, of course) and at the same time is such an annoying piece of shit. No, I will not elaborate on this with sources but you cannot tell me the entire cast of the hobbit movies, especially Richard Armitage, wasn't fed up with this guy's bullshit. Then again, it's totally not my place to judge that, it's simply the vibe I'm getting from some bts stuff but obviously I don't know it for a fact. (but i do)
Queerness: Despite all of this, there is no other character that captures this gay trans guy vibe as well as movie!Bilbo Baggins and it drives me insane because that's literally me on the screen and then I remember the actor and I want to cry. They could've just casted me instead fr (no but seriously, imagine if they'd gone with Michael Sheen instead, who was originally intended to play Bilbo uggghhhh)
Wealth: Not exactly my own original thought process, but something life changing I heard on tiktok the other day - Bilbo Baggins is rich and conservative af. not a bad thing necessarily ... his unexpected adventure with the company was the one time he got out of that life, but at the end he went back to it!!!
Hair/eye colour: Genuinely, I'm confused. I love to write and read about his "oh so golden curls" but let's be real. Isn't his hair brown? I can't tell anymore!! I guess you could get away with calling him a blonde with green eyes but somehow at the same time he's brunett with hazel eyes????? maybe I'm colour blind or maybe i just hate colour theory
thanks for coming to my ted talk, might continue with pt. 2 about thorin

I also want to give some recognition to the countless number of people in swing and red states who turned out to try and get their voices heard, only to be met by a backhanded slap to the face.
To be transparent, I am from upstate New York. I'm sure that much is obvious judging by some of the posts on here. And as many more of you know, it's fucking redder than all hell here. I saw Trump and Vance paraphernalia on countless cars and houses. I've seen the 'protect girls sports' signs. Confederate and Thin Blue line flags are common decor. So-called democratic cities are still disgustingly systematically segregated. It's the ugly side of New York they make sure they hide and never talk about.
Now, it's one thing to put up with decades of having your own state government neglect an entire region that houses over 6 million people unless it has something economic to offer the rest (ex. Micron, Erie Canal, Niagara Falls, etc.). It's quite another thing for self-labeled downstate liberals to completely disregard us as being a lost cause. I am just as fucking angry with the state of things here, but it's unbelievably insulting to say that an entire region is asking for it when the lack of government involvement keeps upstate-born folk systematically poor and under-educated. The phenomenon of poverty does not stop at fucking Yonkers, guys.
So yeah, to our southern and midwestern neighbors: I get it. To our brothers, sisters, and siblings who were born, raised, or consider their cultural identity as rural as cornbread and grits: I fucking see you.
I get having to put up with northerners telling you to "just move," as if there's anywhere on Earth that could possibly replace the unique culture and people you grew up with. Believe me, rural communities here in the North experience that shit first hand on the daily. Honestly, the fact that an alarming amount people are comfortable with disgracing and insulting an entire folkgroup— one that has vast communities of color and progressive contributions held-hostage by conservative gerrymandering— is fucking shameful. Civil rights are not a good-guy award that can only be won by good northerners. Half of that effort and progress is being driven by those dumb, rural folk because they're the ones living directly on the battleground.
To those feeling absolutely disheartened at the state of things right now, Do Not lose your Will to Fight. The voter turnout was so incredibly high this time around, and I AM proud of you all for that. Hell, Syracuse kicked that stupid bastard Brandon Williams out of office, which is INCREDIBLE.
I'm sorry that some of the biggest fascist cunts on planet earth are weaponizing your home states against you. Even to our beloved sister state to our south, Pennsylvania: I love you, and I'm sorry you couldn't pull through again for this election. I know so fucking many of you tried.
And to be very, PAINFULLY clear: this blog does not tolerate any form of hate. You WILL be blocked if you spouted bigoted shit OR any kind of speech shit-talking rural and southern folk. I do not post nkr respind to anon hate. I do not give that bullshit a platform. I know this is a blog focused on Everything New York, but I want to make it clear that this will never, Ever be a genuine hostile space to people from other states. Yes, even you, massachusetts-official.
I started this blog as a love letter to New York State, and I know there are people out there that see the good in their own states too. Please keep it going. Keep fighting for the collective wellbeing of our nation.

Because We Need A Little Controversy
I disagree - fundamentally - with the idea of cursing.
Now that that unpleasantness it out of the way, let's explore my reasoning, in the usual fashion because I'm creatively bankrupt and don't have many formats for his blog, so we're just gonna do the usual strawman argument bullshit I am known for, so strap in.
But we're witches, we curse people!
Bitch since when? I know we have deities like the Gaulish Goddess Adsagsona whose sole existence is evidenced by like, two stone tablets asking her to curse another coven, but come on people, it's 2025. We're beyond this. If you really have beef with someone over something major, you should probably talk it out with them instead, unless they are completely unwilling to cooperate with you. Then YMMV.
You don't hate anyone enough that you'd curse them? Are you speaking from experience?
99% of the people I fucking despise come from the Pagan community, so this comes from a place of knowing when not to fuck with shit because when you curse another deity's precious sapling, that opens you up to so much bullshit. We'll get into why ELSE this is a factor here in a bit, so hang in there.
In short, yes I do hate someone enough that I have considered cursing them. I grew up in rural areas where witchcraft was frowned upon heavily at best and actively discriminated against at worst. And I didn't make it a secret that I was a witch; it was basically my identity for awhile. Only recently did I get back into wearing crystals, pentacles (mine has a crow on it; so fuckin' cool), and things that show my witchy pride because I worked in (and I hate revealing things about myself) retail in this insanely rural hellpit that is 99% conservative denominational Christians of all sorts who were not gentle when they didn't like you.
I mean for fuck's sake, I had a guy scream at me across the register one time before they perma-moved me off of there because I was "too casual" with him. I worked at a bookstore, one of the most casual places on Earth. It took everything I had not to punch him in the face then and there let alone not curse him later when I got home.
The point is, yes, I hate people a lot. I have enemies, I have ops, I have people I wish would fucking die already. But do I actively go out of my way (while worshipping a death goddess by the way) to curse and harm them?
Hell the fuck no.
Edit: 2/19/25: I forgot to get back into why cursing another witch is bad so I'll do it now and I can sum it up in one word.
Retaliation.
Imagine if you will, a witch gets cursed or by the Gods hexed! Oh no! It's a very easy thing to trace it or send it back, even if not precisely and then take action.
The other option those people take is they take a wild fucking guess as to who the goddamn fuck cursed them and then send a little "greeting card" curse their way to get them to cut the shit. Then you, whyever you did it, created a circle of suffering that will chain it together until some God/dess steps in or someone finally quashes the beef. You see this between some covens (source: Larzac tablet but we don't have much information beyond Adsagsona is a scary lady). It inevitably gets messy.
Speaking of messy I really oughta have a format to keep me on topic and remind myself that I need to return to points I make earlier. Point is, curse another witch, and a curse could come back your or Gods forbid someone completely innocent in the whole ordeal. I deal with this crisis on a daily basis because there's someone I'd LOVE to curse, that I think is attempting to get one over on me but I could just be being schizo, but I choose not to because it would turn into a massive clusterfuck and the people in their lives would be more affected than them. Trust me, I have raged about this enough that I know how it feels to want revenge.
You just don't get it, this is for justice!
Last I checked, each pantheon has their own God or Goddess of Justice, and you aren't them, I'm sorry. Balancing the scales is one thing, but it is a completely different thing to enact your own sense of justice on to someone you don't completely understand at a core level.
Maybe someone at school or work is bullying you. Maybe you take abuse from random customers in retail hell like I did. Fuck, maybe even people close to you, like I've had, that actively gaslight you and torment you on a daily basis. But here's the thing; eventually, according to Threefold Law - which while I fall into the Neo-Pagan side of things rather than straight Wicca I believe fully in - they'll get what's coming to them.
It's a lot for someone in a bad spot to hear "just wait it out, the Gods or Goddesses or Universe will make sure they get what's coming to them. This is something I MYSELF struggled with growing up Wiccan then transitioning to Neo-Paganism.
I thought, "Why do I have to wait for help? Why can't I just take matters into my own hands and dispense my own form of justice?"
But that wouldn't have been right of me to do. I don't know each of my bully's situations. i don't know what the home life of some of these people is life. Hell, I don't even know my own friends half the time. But even if they wronged me in an unforgivable way, it is not my place as a mere human to decide right and wrong.
Okay you can get off your high horse now; we get it. Your "holier than thou" argument is getting annoying.
I'm not coming at a this from a lens of being "holier than thou." I'm not even asking you to forgive the people tormenting you, or even actively fight back against them. You do what you need to do to make sure they stop fucking with you, whether through magic or straight fistfights like I got into. I mean I'm the last, and as you know I fucking hate giving identifying factors about myself, guy to tell you not to do what it takes to make people leave you the fuck alone. i am just coming at this from a couple of different viewpoints.
What viewpoints could you possibly have that would make you believe cursing magic is a net wrong when you don't have all the information of everyone who has ever casted a hex or curse?
Well for one let's stick to curses for now. i know hexing is similar but let's not get lost in the weeds here.
First Viewpoint: You don't have all the information in order not to put innocent lives in the way.
Think about it; you curse someone for misfortune and their sister dies. Did their sister do something to you to deserve that? If not, can you live with the guilt of harming an innocent? Someone completely unrelated to your petty beef got hurt or killed because you took justice into your own hands. That's some Light Yagami mocking Naomi Misora as she walks away after he wrote her name in the Death Note to never be seen again type shit we're talking here.
I know this is an extreme example but intention and curses are dangerous if you are not direct with this type of shit. A lot if fledgling type witches who come in looking to get revenge come in and look on Tumblr and see post after post about diabolical curses people came up with; let alone making their own that are less directed and inexperienced.
Second Viewpoint: Who are you to judge?
I'm driving this home because it is important to the crux of my argument.
You aren't the Morrigan. You aren't Lugh, you aren't any other deity that deals with justice and right and wrong, light and dark. Who the fuck are you to decide who suffers? Who are you to decide who dies in the extreme cases? Have some fucking class.
Third and Final Viewpoint: Optics
I have driven this so hard into the ground that it might as well have popped out the other side of the ocean to people I speak with personally in the craft IRL.
Cursing someone, and then posting about or bragging about it, or even posting a curse you created on say, I dunno, a site where a lot of Witchy types show up and post all day about witchcraft is bad optics to those that hate us.
I hate to say it, but optics are EVERYTHING when it comes to our religious freedom. Witchcraft wasn't legal until after Helen Duncan's jailing in 1943 due to the Witchcraft Act 1735. In South Africa, the Witchcraft Suppression Act of 1957 is still in force. The last Witchcraft Trial in my country of origin (take a wild guess based on what I'm about to say) was Lucretia Brown in May of 1878. Then we had the Satanic fucking Panic in the 1980's - 1990's that was the cause of a lot of trouble for LARPers, political Satanists, D&D Players just looking to roll math rocks and pretend to fuck the local barmaid, and a few actual fucking witches who still remember to this day how fuckin' awful that shit was. Go ahead, ask an American Witch over the age of 60 - if you can find one in this hellscape since most of the witches I know of who talk about their experiences on YouTube are British, Irish, or too young to have lived through the American version - and they'll tell you how ass that experience was. We could have this again at any point in the near future given the phenomenon known as the Red Wave that is taking place across the world as we speak, whether you like it or not.
Our fucking rights, to practice withcraft or assemble as covens (hard pass, no offense), or even wear a goddamn necklace as a symbol of our faith could be in danger at any time, protection from a Constitution like my country (take a wild guess and you'll see why I'm such a massive fucking doomer) or not. IT ALREADY HAS BEEN IN OUR SCHOOLS, OUR COURTS, AND OUR GOVERNMENT FOR THE LAST FUCKING 300 YEARS.
You got any more doomer shit to spew before you end this tirade? I'm sick of your "holier than thou" arguments.
Socko, a random sock puppet from Bo Burnham's INSIDE special, once said, "Get with it or get out of the fucking way." If you want to curse someone, go ahead; I can't stop you for shit. you could curse me for all I know, which makes it really good that I have that Warding Book I've been meaning to sit and finish by good old Kerr Cuhulain. If you have any other book suggestions about warding I would love to hear them because from the second I set this to "Post" I'm likely gonna piss some people off.
Let me close out by saying, if after all this you still want to curse or hex (something we'll get into at another time at another date) some rando who was mean to you in school, work, or Starbucks, just remember that what goes around comes around.
And you don't want to be on the receiving end of that energy you're putting out there.
I've been Kuro, resident schizo and anti-curse dude, Blessed Be and whether you're a Curser or Anti-Curser, take care. Stay safe, and above all, don't go doing something stupid and getting yourself or someone innocent hurt.

Since you’ve watched g1 I wanted to evaluate a take I have to see if it actually fits Optimus prime’s character
From the clips I’ve seen of earthspark they’ve made Optimus morale grey which is something I don’t mind, what I do mind is I feel like they make him more cruel than he would be
For season one of the show they have a message that all deceptacons aren’t bad and that clumping them all up in the same category is bad, and of course Optimus is weary about trusting them but they portray him as being to against them changing in my opinion
Like I think if g1 was in this position he’d be weary of course, but I’d think he’d give them little tests of trust instead of outright dismissing the possibility of them being good and arguing against treating them cruelly which earthspark argues more for which I’d agree with if the show wasn’t trying to show deceptacons being good
That take in character? Or am I missing some things
I really dislike Earthspark and the way it handles Optimus in particular. It feels so disrespectful. That fucking scene where they're explaining the concept of "they/them" pronouns to OPTIMUS FUCKING PRIME of all people. As if he's some out of touch conservative uncle at Thanksgiving, and not a MILLENNIA OLD MENTOR who is from a species of SEXLESS FUCKING ROBOTS. Fucking Optimus Prime should be the one explaining that robots don't have sex organs and they choose their gender out of convenience and personal identity TO THE HUMAN CHILDREN ffs garbage ass fucking trash ass TV show.
Anyway in terms of his morality presentation I think the show handles it very poorly. Optimus isn't some flower sniffing hippie, he will absolutely lock in in the face of unrepentant cruelty. Fall of Cybertron has some very good moments demonstrating that. If Decepticons stranded on earth were defeated and going "I'm not gonna stop doing bad stuff, as soon as I get free I'm going to go right back to blowing everything up and trying to get the war back on and fuck up as many humans as I can in the process" then Optimus would probably just kill them. It IS a war after all. And in the context of Earthsparks story, the Decepticons are basically global terrorists. Why are they fucking around with prisons in the first place?
"Oh they can't just have him killing dudes, it's a kids show" well then maybe they should write the kids show better so that the question doesn't even come up in the first place. G1 didn't have a problem with just having the Decepticons retreat no harm no foul at the end of every episode. Why are they even presenting a scenario in which the guys who's catchphrase is "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" would throw people into prison against their will and consent. If you want Optimus to be 100% idealistic then just have the Decepticons run away scotch free at the end of the episode. If you want Optimus to be more morally grey then have him cap Starscream in the fucking head and say "we're at war here, and he was clearly never going to stop being evil, what do you expect to happen?" You can't have this fucking middle ground where he's complicit in some shady ass government institutions Robot-Guantanamo Bay bullshit.
I honestly fucking hate Earthspark it's so emblematic of everything that kept me from being able to get into Transformers until I finally played Fall of Cybertron and watched G1. Atrocious character writing. Awful character designs. Humans as the main characters in a show called fucking TRANSFORMERS. Doesn't make me want to buy their toys. Completely unwatchable show.

Since Macklemore is officially Back-lemore™️, I want to take the time, before Pride Month draws to a close, to deliver a heartfelt "go fuck yourself" to everyone who called him homophobic years ago.
For those not in the know: 11 years ago, Macklemore released "Same Love", a song in which he voiced his his support of LGBT equality and opposition to the oppression and discrimination we face. It was a very moving, powerful, heartfelt ballad that was one of the early markers that the social justice movement was here to stay…
Or at least, that's what I would say if that same social justice movement didn't gang up on Macklemore and declare him the enemy, smearing him as a homophobe because… he talks about gay rights issues despite not being gay himself.
I've heard all the arguments, and they're all bullshit.
"He talks at length about not being gay, so he's ashamed of associating with us!"
First of all, his explanation of his sexuality is limited to the first half of the first verse. The entire rest of the song is dedicated to the message "homophobia is wrong and LGBT people deserve equal rights." Second, his explanation of his sexuality isn't just some "no homo" clarification, but an illustration of how far-reaching homophobic stereotypes are in our society and how they can give children the wrong idea.
"He used the F-slur!"
Take a look at the context he was using it in, smart one.
Our culture founded from oppression, yet we don't have acceptance for 'em
Call each other f——ts behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
He wasn't calling anyone the F-slur or saying anyone should be called that. He was using it as an example of homophobic language that should never be used because it is bigoted and cruel. DEPICTION IS NOT ENDORSEMENT!
"He's paternalistically trying to speak for a group he doesn't belong to!"
No. No. No the fuck he isn't. If you listen to the actual lyrics, he's just making the basic statement that LGBT people deserve equal rights and that bigotry against us is wrong. Aside from the tiny minority of LGBT conservatives who try to move up in the world by sucking up to their oppressors and throwing their fellow queers under the bus, I can't imagine how the LGBT community as a whole would have any reason to object to any of that! He's not speaking for us; he's standing with us. The only ones trying to "speak for us" is you, doing this whole "I'm offended for you" schtick and thinking you know better than we do who our enemies are.
"He's from the privileged majority, he's never been oppressed before, so he can't really know what it's like and therefore doesn't really care!"
I can't believe I have to say this, but being privileged doesn't automatically make someone an evil bigoted monster who is incapable of basic human empathy or compassion. Since most of the people who slimed Macklemore were themselves straight people claiming to support LGBT rights — looking at you, Cody Johnston — THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT!
I'm genuinely baffled at the cognitive dissonance on display here. "Any straight person claiming to support LGBT Rights is a liar," says a group of straight people who claim to support LGBT rights. Are you honestly expecting me to believe that every single one of you are the exceptions to this rule you're claiming is otherwise immutable? From this, I'm forced to draw one of two conclusions:
You're Projecting. You're accusing Macklemore of not really caring about us and only using us for clout because you don't really care about us and are only using us for clout. I don't want to believe this is true, but look. If you're a straight person, and you see another straight person claiming to support LGBT rights, and your immediate reaction is to call them a liar, and you specifically use their straightness as evidence that they're lying… you're telling on yourself.
You're Fishing for Compliments. You think that, if you publicly flagellate yourself enough with this "all straight people are automatically evil" bullshit, the God Emperor of Gayness will descend from on high to officially declare you "one of the good ones" and ease your straight guilt.
I'll admit the second option isn't nearly as bad as the first, but it's still shitty because — to borrow some words from the Rap Critic — you're essentially clogging up an important conversation about our rights and freedoms just to beg us to confirm that you're not bad people. If you really cared about us, you wouldn't be making it about you in the first place!
And I'm sure there are some gays who were also ganging up on Macklemore and declaring him an oppressor and a bigot just like everyone else, and I have a message for them, too.
Darling. Bro. Baby gays. Listen.
The purpose of Pride isn't to tell all straight people everywhere to fuck off and die. It's to specifically fight back against the bigots and oppressors who have held positions of authority in our society since time immemorial, to undermine their power and create a free, equal society for everyone. I can't remember who first said this, but the struggle of social justice isn't "minorities vs non-minorities", but "minorities and non-minorities vs the system."
Here we had a straight person outspokenly demonstrating how emphatically he supports our fight for freedom and wholeheartedly agrees with us that oppressing us is wrong… so why the fuck were you treating him, personally, as the enemy?
You'd do well to remember the words of George Santayana: "Fanaticism consists in redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim."

This Warless Weekend...I accidentally broke the one rule of Warless Weekend sending "Maya Henry is in fact a trans woman lol" to a TERF. Sigh. Forgive me, Velvet Nation.
The post was discovered because I was once again going through radblr looking for screenshots to prove beyond the shadow of the doubt that radfems hate even cis men, let alone trans men. It's going to be a multi-day affair because I want to include so many examples that when you click "read more" it'll be like unraveling an ancient scroll that drops to the floor and rolls down several flights of stairs in a cartoon.
I've also been debating a radfem who's not...the TERFiest? Hard to classify someone who thinks private spaces should be sex-segregated for now but corrects anons who misgender me and believes radfems shouldn't be so hostile to trans women* because they're "allies of the feminist revolution." My only concern is that my (mostly AFAB trans!) followers would see me interacting with someone who has those radfemmy beliefs in a way that isn't pure hostility and be made to feel unsafe as a result. I have no illusions that his radical feminist beliefs are harmful. But am I being too nice, regardless? I've been personally convinced he sincerely holds beliefs that makes other radfems hate him, thus the anon he got misgendering me and saying he should stop talking to me because I'm a homophobe.** Sometimes good people get praxis wrong.
And TRFs will say "ooh, look at Velvet, being courteous to people who self-identify as radfems, she'd never do that for transfems she slanders as TRFs." First of all, I think a lot of non-transfems are TRFs. Secondly, I do do that for TRFs, all the fucking time! As with anyone else when they're not just horribly cruel I do actually go to extreme lengths to be polite, approaching them as a submissive doormat of a person, offering the most politely worded but in-depth critique of their bullshit you could possibly imagine. I've started several posts of such a nature with "please take this in good faith" and at least once I've DM'd someone after reblogging them to go the extra mile assuring them I'm not trying to take a swing at them.
I think talking to people is good and healthy and should be encouraged, idk. That doesn't go for someone who thinks all trans women are monsters who want to abuse Trve Wymbyn, or that all trans men are deluded victims/fetishisers of cis gay men/escaping into privilege.*** Most radfems, like outright conservatives, are 100% bugfuck evil and do not deserve anything other than mockery and scorn. But if there's a chance you might be able to connect with an intellectually and morally honest person who seems to be going for what they truly believe is best for everyone...I think you should go for it.
I desperately want to believe people when it seems like they're really honestly trying out of sincere moral impulses and are truly capable of treating others with respect rather than it being an enemy psyop. I'm trying to not let my fear of being gullible deter me from offering my hand to people when our differences might be bridgeable.
*and other trans people, plus those who are dysphoric but do not consider themselves trans
**I believe they were referring to when I said homosexuality was also an atypical arousal pattern in response to someone pointing at a basic ass furry to say trans people were ridden with paraphilias
***I just realized how diverse the "explanations" for AFAB trans people are. With how much transphobia relies on being offensive to Trve Wymbyn you have to get creative to explain why it's also bad when one of their own contracts the mind virus and it's so obviously completely incoherent

I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that has been really bothering me in my personal life because I am so tired of holding in all of the anger and disgust. I know posting about this is very different from my regular content and what I'd prefer to post but I just can't get this off of my mind.
On Facebook I follow a lot of leftist pages but ever since I have I have also been getting recommended a lot of anti LGBTQ, racist, anti feminist content, for every one leftist page I get recommended I get at least about maybe five or so right wing pages and groups recommended to me. This has been kind of detrimental to my mental health, and again I don't follow any page or group that is conservative but every day on Facebook I'm bombarded with seeing hateful and disgusting individuals on my feed.
I have gotten recommend Candace Owens, Brett Cooper, Michael Knowles, Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro and a ton of meme pages dedicated to bullying people or very hateful stuff, hell yesterday I got recommended a manosphere/incel page and I am constantly seeing men have absolute shit takes on FB. I have had to block at least near ninety pages.
The most I ever do is maybe like a comment that is going against conservatives or bigoted individuals but other than that I block every account I see or hide the groups because for some reason I can't block a group but can hide them.
I am absolutely disgusted that facebook keeps pushing these groups on me. Why would I support a group and pages full of hateful men that hate my existence and why would I support groups and pages that hate minorities? And most importantly why tf do these pages and groups even exist? I guess people could say it's their freedom of speech but I think freedom of speech is a bullshit excuse to go out to harass people because others are uneducated and would prefer to spread misinformation rather than listen to minorities and educate themselves.
I like Facebook because I have come across a lot of really awesome groups on there but I'm just so tired of feeling mentally drained when I see these pages and groups that are spreading hate speech because yes I fully believe these pages and groups spread hate speech and I honestly don't give a flying F U C K if its "fReE sPeEcH" to me its just an excuse to be an absolute pos.
Also I guess this is me saying that people like this are not welcome to my page. Just because I can't stop seeing bs on FB doesn't mean I'm going to let that bs slide here and for Facebook: fuck you.
With all of that said and done with all of that ranting I will be continuing to post my regular stuff.

My hatred for conservatives has reached a boiling point. So, for those of you that don't know, recently, the conservative Supreme Court has decided to hear arguments against bans on conversion therapy. And, in Andy Beshear's recent video where he said that he vetoed the conservative attempt to overturn his executive order banning conversion therapy on minors, people in the comments on Twitter have been nothing but hateful towards him and towards queer kids. Since time immemorial, conservatives have been killing us, mutilating us, torturing us, all because we're not straight. Now, they want the religious freedom to torture kids that aren't straight? Nah, fuck outta here with that bullshit! It's ALWAYS a conservative that does bullshit like this. You will never see or hear a conservative speak out against conversion therapy. The ones that do are the exception that proves the rule. I've already sworn that if the Supreme Court outlaws conversion therapy bans, that I'll cut off every single one of my conservative relatives and friends. The queer community has been nothing but supportive and welcoming to me since the day I came out. I cannot say the same for the Christian community.
When will it end? When will we decide "enough is enough" and revolt against the way conservatives treat us. If they overturn those bans, I hope it lights a fire in the heart of every queer person and straight ally, a fire to rebel against conservative tyranny. A fire to riot against homophobia and transphobia. A fire to resist the unfair treatment of queer folks in America. I may seem like I'm rambling and raving, but I know this country, and conservatives, too well to trust them that they'll just stop after we win again. We need to make sure they can never hurt us again. We need to permanently take away their ability to hurt us. That starts with voting ALL of the conservatives, both Democratic and Republican, out of office, and only electing candidates who value human rights. Cretins like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Tulsi Gabbard should never get a say in our government. Human rights are too important to let conservative terrorists win. We need to actively fight and win.🏳️‍🌈🌈

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
Since Morph has become Tumblr-popular (and I am SO happy about that), I have seen a lot of people who interpret Morph's "can copy other mutants' physical abilities" in X-Men 97 to mean "Morph could potentially copy any mutant's power," and that's really not how it works. I'm not gonna ruin people's fun when they are playing around with the idea in fanfic, but Morph is a shapeshifter, not a power mimic. Actual power mimics in the comics, like Synch, Mimic, Hope and Rogue can use other mutants' powers, Morph can't. Technically Morph isn't really copying other mutant powers, they are using shapeshifting to give themselves certain abilities like flight or strength, and transforming into other mutants so that animators can throw in cameos. They don't HAVE to turn into Angel to give themselves wings, they could just shapeshift wings. In fact, that's usually what AoA/Exiles Morph does in the comics, even when "turning into" other people as a gag he keeps his base form. My headcanon is that Morph finds it easier to use other mutants as a template for physical characteristics like wings or claws. I'd also love to see an arc where Morph learns to shapeshift multiple characteristics of other mutants (like Wolverine's claws, Colossus metal skin, Angel's wings) without fully turning into anyone, and it's both greater mastery of their powers and also Morph learning more confidence and self-acceptance.
I think X-Men 97 really muddied the waters by directly stating that Morph can "copy physical characteristics" without explaining what that means. Turning into Quicksilver for superspeed was especially stretching it, and although I love making Morph more powerful, I was like "Bullshit," at that scene. The show really should have tossed in an "explainer" somewhere, like maybe newcomer Sunspot asks Morph how their powers work, and Morph explains. That could have also gotten into why Morph appears more powerful in 97, and their changed appearance, another thing I wish the show had addressed.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores*
The existence of Shinobi Shaw, canonically the abused son of a supervillain, strongly implied to be bi, a rich and handsome "bad boy" who could easily be sympathetic, he would absolutely do numbers on Tumblr if a comic or show would just bring him to people's attention.
*Everyone else does not include you, obviously.
Also - Stevie Hunter - Kitty Pryde/the New Mutants' dance instructor, one of the few human allies of the X-Men that hasn't been killed or turned against them. Kind, strong, brave as hell, I want her back in comics, but I also don't, for fear that she would get killed off.
Also that time that Madelyne Pryor was given healing powers by Loki and called herself Anodyne and wanted to help people, but that's been far overshadowed by Goblin Queen Maddie.
Oh, and apparently in one of the X-Men novels written by Claremont, Frenzy is secretly a fan of Pyro's books.
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
Oooooh boy, I have several. I'll leave aside the useful conservative bullshit that springs up whenever a character happens to be gay, trans, a PoC, etc., we've all been through the usual nonsense of "I have nothing against characters being gay, I'm just going to pick apart and find fault with every gay character in comics." That's old hat.
But for X-Men:
Arguments about Jean/Logan, Jean/Scott, Emma/Scott just seem to bring out the worst in everyone. Personally, I hate Jean/Logan, and I'm meh on Emma/Scott, but arguments always devolve into a character bashing, especially Emma vs. Jean. Why pit two queens against each other? They are both great.
Certain X-Fans have obviously not read any Marvel comics outside the X-Men, and love to bash on groups that have been set up against the X-Men in any event, like Avengers or Inhumans (and we all know that big events crossovers like AvX or IvX are generally pretty stupid forced conflict). I know writers have "called out" the Avengers for not doing more to help mutants, but what exactly do fans want? Do you want the Avengers to come flying in and solve every problem the X-Men face? Then there would be complaints about the Avengers dominating X-Men books. We all know why the Avengers can't save mutants whenever there's yet another massacre, it's because the X-Men's whole thing is "feared and hated," and it would ruin stories if the Avengers fixed everything. It's the awkwardness of these characters existing in a shared universe, I just accept that the Avengers are usually busy with their own stories in their own books. And while I can understand the frustration of X-Fans during the Inhumans push, as a fan of both groups I have limited sympathy for people still wanting to dance on the Inhumans' graves years afterwards. God forbid the X-Men not be the center of Marvel publishing for a brief time, or that the Inhumans actually get a few books of their own.
"Child soldiers." This is another one that writers have tried to address in-book, but to me it's about as silly as treating Sailor Moon, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Power Rangers as "child soldiers." Is Zordon a manipulative child abuser because he specifically asked for "teenagers with attitude"? Or do we accept this as a power-fantasy for kids, just like the 60's X-Men comics generally were? If anything, Xavier has a greater excuse for recruiting teens than other super-heroes, mutants usually gain their powers at puberty and that puts them in immediate danger. And fandom only ever seems to drag Xavier for the X-Men being "child soldiers," even though Cable was actively turning the New Mutants into a paramilitary group in the 90's. Meanwhile, Xavier actually seemed to grow and change from the 60's, since he actively tried to keep Kitty Pryde and the New Mutants out of danger instead of sending them into the field. The X-Men have always recruited and endangered teens, even when Xavier is retired or dead.
Related to the above, the "Professor Xavier is a jerk," thing. And I don't even like Xavier much, but he gets dragged more and held to higher standards than characters who were actual villains and mass murderers. Xavier has done some incredibly shitty things, but fandom seems to love cherry-picking all his worst moments, or even just panels where he appears to be a jerk, completely devoid of context. Some common arguments are just wrong, like people claiming that Xavier "abandoned the New Mutants to go bang Lilandra," which is just blatantly NOT what happened in the comics. If you want a story about Xavier abandoning his students and leaving them in the hands of a former terrorist, the whole Changeling story is much more fucked up, Xavier actively chose to not only have Changeling stand in for him, he gave Changeling some of his telepathic powers. And they didn't even have the long-standing friendship of Xavier and Magneto, so there's no reason for trust there. If we're going to drag Xavier for his many sins, let's at least drag him for what he's actually done.

Thoughts on Heathers (2018)
I am someone who doesn't really mind the existence of bad media, even legendarily bad media that exists in proximity to media that I hold dear. The Last Airbender is one of the worst movies of all time, but it does not offend me that it is an adaptation of a beloved animated series. At the end of the day, it's just another version of the story which did a few things differently. ATLA wasn't a story about bad guys who can shoot fire from their hands. It was a story that used those bad guys as a force of nature to oppose the heroes to say something about characters I identified with, and so it is not an affront to art that the film version takes away the bad guys' ability to generate their own flames. M Night Shyamalan thought those changes could make for an interesting alternative take, and it did not work for me. Oh well. At the end of the day, it is just a bad version of a good story.
I'm bringing up this extreme example of my being unfazed by a bad adaptation to demonstrate how serious I am being when I say Heathers 2018 is my new least favorite piece of media, and I feel genuinely hurt from having watched the entire thing.
Going in, I was only faintly aware of the show's reputation as a conservative comedy. The Heathers are reimagined as a gang of performatively woke progressives who use their clout as minorities to harass the white boys of Westerberg High with the threat of cancellation in order to secure their positions of power in the culture. This is a pretty big plot point in the first episode, and it is cringe, but it does not actually bother me very much. Past the first episode, the diversity of the Heathers isn't even really something that comes up all that often.
To be clear, I do hate how the Heathers are treated, but it goes a lot deeper than the show not being woke. Heathers 2018 hates humanity. Every single time a Heather experiences a genuine emotion, the show pretends that maybe this time, someone is going to learn a lesson. Every single time, it's a trick. Heather Duke faces transphobia and none of her friends stand up for her. She still yearns for their approval, and she is still denied. Her boyfriend Kurt is the only person on the show who gives her any respect at all, and she gets blackmailed into breaking up with him. She is malicious and insulting both in the moment and afterwards when she tries to backtrack on the breakup. When she thinks he's killed himself, the show pretends it might let this effect her in a real way for all of two minutes before she goes right back to her old self, exploiting Kurt's death in a power play against Heather Chandler. The notion of Heather Duke breaking away from Heather Chandler and forging her own path to fulfillment in Westerberg's social ecosystem is brought up constantly, and every single time, Heather Duke goes right back to this bullshit cat and mouse game. In the end, she dies alone and scared in a field of corn, with no friends, having learned nothing.
Heather Chandler is the same way. We see glimpses of empathy somewhere deep inside her a few times throughout the show, but it never goes anywhere. No matter how low she is brought down, she never gains the ability to empathize with anyone or care about anything in an authentic way. Heather McNamara kills herself and Brianna Parker attempts the same as a result of Chandler's bullying, and it doesn't faze her a bit. In episode 7, she enters a dissociative fugue state from the trauma of public embarrassment and begins trying to make amends to everyone at Westerberg, even taking Brianna Parker out for dinner.
Now, because this is a deeply misanthropic show, Brianna is constantly mocked for being poor. And because this is a deeply unfunny show, it comes across as strictly hateful. Still, it's obviously an improvement over Heather's behavior up until now. And it lasts like ten minutes before she's right back to her old self, worse than ever before. Her first reaction to what she believes to be a mass suicide is to leverage the opportunity to make one final claw at fame. And it doesn't even work. She is reduced to a footnote in Veronica's legacy, and everybody who ever thought of her as anything else is dead. One last spit in the face for the show's only survivor.
To put it bluntly, Heathers 2018 is a show about awful people suffering pointlessly. Any shadow of an implication that it might get better is only there to service the the Shepard tone of misery.
The character whose treatment hits me the hardest is Veronica. Veronica means a lot to me in the original film. I appreciated seeing a character with these horribly violent intrusive thoughts treated empathically by the narrative and have a rich internal life. When JD enters her life, he indulges these intrusive thoughts and attempts to make her believe that these thoughts define her, but in the end, she rejects him. She does not accept that some scribblings in her diary make her a bad person, and chooses instead to reach out to the people around her and have a positive influence in her community. It's a beautiful story. It makes me feel seen and cared about as someone who has struggled a lot with intrusive thoughts.
It's a huge change from the original, but the choice to make Veronica a more proactive killer in Heathers 2018 initially struck me as exciting. If the original film says that your thoughts do not define you, perhaps the reboot could take it a step further. As a young child with no emotional regulation skills, Veronica let the intrusive thoughts win, and she murdered her best friend. As a young adult, these same dark impulses still linger, and JD is the voice in her head telling her to say fuck it, indulge yourself. She does so, she likes it, and she has become even worse than JD by the time of this reveal.
Sure, I thought. The Heathers are being treated like absolute punching bags with no care given to their internal lives outside of being vehicles for pain, but surely Veronica, the main character, will have her emotional journey taken seriously. If Heathers 2018 is even distantly interested in respecting the spirit of the original film, Veronica will find some healthy avenue to be understood and redeemed. She will learn that she is not defined by the worst thoughts in her head, her worst impulses, or her worst moments of indulgence. Somehow, she will make it.
Of course, that's not what happens. The show teases out the possibility, of course. She essentially comes out as a psychopath to her friends, and they accept her. She tries to use her impulses for good. For about half an episode, it seems like she might be okay. And then the last episode happens. She becomes a monster, perpetrating one of the deadliest mass killings in American history more or less on a whim. There is no redemption. In the afterlife, she is totally alone, a lost soul wandering Hell forever, without even JD to accompany her.
Cool.
Look.
I love a good tragedy. I have been posting about how much I love Saw III (the one where everyone dies at the end) for as long as I been online. But there's no catharsis in Heathers 2018. It doesn't even feel like it's trying to have any. Everyone is awful, they're all awful to each other, and nobody deserves better than what they get. It wallows in this cynicism.
The Last Airbender is a bad movie based on a cartoon I like a lot. Metroid Other M is a bad game in a franchise I like a lot. Animorphs is a bad TV show based on my favorite childhood book series. I do not feel like any of these were made with malice. None of these stories hate me.
Heathers 2018 hates me. It feels like it was made with the intention to hurt anyone who ever identified with Veronica Sawyer.

Why do you think you fall on the left of the political spectrum? You post the same shit as all the other Trump drones. The simping for billionaires, denying climate change, whining about DEI and "Woke" video games, stolen elections, making long winded nonsensical essays about abortion, etc etc etc. If you vote for authoritarians you are an authoritarian.
See I love asks like this because they show you and others like you to be the morons you are. Normally I'd be coy and playful but at this juncture I won't be. (*Babs, I fully expect you to comment on this, touch grass*)
ANYWAYS, Trump, is a NY Democrat. He has been his entire life. And the only reason that the Dems and celebrities turned on him was because he came out against the established powers. Specifically wanting to pull us out of wars. Ya know, like OBOMBER told us he was going to do until Lockheed Martin promised him a kickback. Then he was all the more prepared to bomb brown kids overseas for no good reason. Including intentionally killing an American kid while he was overseas.
OBAMA as an aside. Trump was always a Dem. But the Dems as a party have a very strict rule. "Kiss the ring, or else". Ever notice how AOC changes her votes when Pelosi gets involved? Did anyone watch Bernie Sanders in 2016? He had the same functional policies as Trump. That's why Trump won in 2016. Bernie bros got mad that the Dems shafted him, and went, "Well, they fucked Bernie so we are going to fuck them". And they did. Then Bernie decided to cave to the Dems and now fully more or less votes in line with them. (This no taking into consideration that he's a Socialist POS, but that's not the point). Trump ran as a Republican, not because he is one, but because they Dems keep out anyone they don't like. Trump could not have done well on a Dem ticket even if they DID let him on it.
Hell if you need more proof look at RFK. How many Traditional and Old School Dems have left the party in recent years? WalkAway being one of the SINGLE biggest points to this. Tulsi Gabbard? Left the Dems. RFK left the dems. Joe Rogan? He left the Dems. People don't respect the Democrats. Especially now that they have adopted Identity politics and are more Authoritarian now than they ever have been. And that's potentially including Jim Crowe era Dems.
Several Dems have come out against a number of Amendments. Including the first. And the Second. HELL Bidens appointee to SCOTUS has said we need "Disinformation laws" or other bullshit that is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT against the constitution. Hell we found out after the fact that the FBI, and other orgs were pressured by the US Gov, to remove conservatives from platforms for NO good reason. And we didn't even have that info at the time. We had to just BELIEVE that the platforms were discriminating. And they were. Just with pressure from the government. Which is FUCKING ILLEGAL and as you put it, "Authoritarian".
So no. I'm not some "Trump Drone". It's just that the bulk of you that think he's a scary dictator are indoctrinated MORONS that will believe anything. Dems could piss on your face in public, tell you it's raining and you'd believe it. They try that shit with me? I'm punching then in the dick. The modern Dems are Auth Tyrant wannabes and you just assume the position behind them. Then scream and throw shit at the other side when they tell you what they are doing to you is the fault of the otherside.
Mind you, this does not absolve Reps of some of the dumb shit they have done over the years. At all. Because they have done some REALLY dumb shit over the years. The problem you have with Trump isn't even Trump. It's the Mainstream Media telling you to hate Trump. And if he did a QUARTER of what the dems have done you'd be demanding jailing him and death row. The only reason you are fine with what the Dems do is because you are on their side. I'm on nobody's "Side". If Trump screws the pooch this time around, I'm going to call it out. The same way I did when he hired Bolton. Which was a SHIT choice.
But were you also aware Trump was effectively elected in 2016 by the Democrats? How? Well they donated to his campaigns to get the other Reps out of the race because they didn't think he had a chance. But they were also not going to risk running Killary against a half decent Rep. Little were they aware, people were sick of the Establishment class. They still are. Trump isn't an authoritarian. He's a populist. You are just pissed off that he's not a socialist. Because if he was you'd be HAPPY if he tore up the constitution. Because that's how all of you people are. Whine about power when you don't have it, then brag about how the government needs to be stupidly large when your side is in power. And are ALL ON BOARD for abuse of that power.
You people are all the same. I'm the same moderate I've always been. I'm not pro life. I'm actually indifferent to use of weed. (For clarity I don't smoke anything really). I'm pro 1A & 2A. I have some interesting opinions on prostitution. And I lean mostly left libertarian. However you have zero proof other than a JOKE of Trump being an authoritarian. And if you mention "The lockdowns" Trump didn't do that. He let the states handle things the way they saw fit (Dem states had the WORST lockdowns while their leadership were out having drunken orgies btw). He left abortion to the states. "OMG A FASCIST THAT LEAVES CHOICES TO THE STATES HE'S SO EVIL".
Tumblr media
So yeah. I'm a moderate. It's not my fault you are so brainwashed you believe that Communism and Socialism are "Moderate" when they are FAR from. Get your head out of your ass.

I want to say it really ticks me off when this fandom (and Cassandra Clare to some extent) acts like TMI isn't for children. I've seen posts comparing Cassandra Clare's work to Colleen Hoover. As far as I know Colleen Hoover is an adult novelist who basically makes abuse fetish smut so like great comparison to a YA author guys in the fandom!
Clare's choosing to include things like normalizing abuse (Maia and Jordan) and incest are really terrible. Clare always hides behind the fact that the reason the incest existed in her story was "symbolic" for like how love can make us do evil things. But children can't understand something that complex and Clare does NOT do a good job at making this theme clear in the story and SHE DOES romanticize their incestuous relationship as so bad it's good (Clare fans go reread the scene in book 2 where clary has to kiss Jace in front of everyone and then go reread book 3 where they're constantly kissing and cuddling and sleeping in the same bed in a romantic way) and it's just really upsets me because I've witnessed first hand (I've been in this Fandom since 2013) child fans normalizing and becoming attracted to incest fetish because of these books. I've seen so many children normalizing incest because of Clare's continual refusal to JUST APOLOGIZE! She literally writes these LGBT books with incest fetish and rape fetish tied into it and eventually a conservative is gonna find these books and it's gonna be all over for Miss Clare and the LGBT community will probably be blamed for her bullshit because we're always blamed for gross books like these.
I also wanted to say (and you don't have to post this ask if it's divulging too much I don't want to offend anyone) but I'm an incest survivor. I read these books when I was thirteen years old (they were in my schools library listed for my age and up) and they really really hurt my recovery because at the time I thought what had happened to me was normal and when I read these books I thought it was totally okay and normal what happened to me. I won't go into any more detail than that but these books made it so hard to seperate the "love" from the "abuse". I've talked to others in this fandom and many other girls have said that these books normalized abuse to them because Jace is so controlling and abusive to Clary and she does nothing to stop him. The abuse is also normalized by the Fandom too I see posts all the time joking about how "Jace isn't a hero who helps people he's a hero who helps his girlfriend!!!" And "haha Jace doesn't let clary have her own tooth brush or space or any friends! Sooo kawaaaaiiii!!!!!" Or "if clary died Jace would be worse than sebastian lol so smexyyy!" Like as if that isn't disturbing and disgusting to normalize to MINORS!
I just wanted to take a moment to talk about the people who suffer the most from Cassandra Clare's continuous deflection of any wrong doing. You wrote these books about incest Clare, and children read these books and cannot understand your "complex" symbolism for how incest is bad but it's oh so good. It makes me want to burst into tears sometimes but instead I'll just send this ask and forget about it.
Oh,
P.S.
Fuck you Cassandra Clare for writing a Trump supporter female character who is against incest to try and say all the people who hate incest are Trump supporters or conservatives. I am a victim of a serious fucking trauma and I am not a fucking conservative because I want you to be held accountable for your fucked up books. You have spit in the face of rape victims time and time again and I genuinely hope some day you get torn to shreds by the public for everything you've perpetuated to CHILDREN.
Every once in a while I think about this interview Clare once gave that I saw on YouTube. She said that her readers often told her (at the time of the interview) that they are older than they consider the target audience of her books to be, and Clare commented something along the lines of, if you read her books, no matter the age, you are the target audience. Which is a nice thought, but the tonality is still very juvenile—even in her later works that are supposedly new adult genre. They differ in no way in style or tone from those works that are categorized in young adult fiction.
Colleen Hoover? Yuck. Perhaps it tells something about the mentality of those readers who liken Clare to Hoover.
Clare’s writing, tone, and capacity to handle serious and complex matters have always sucked. Each topic is handled with surface-level attention or used as a vehicle to ruminate and moan over the main couple and their obstacles in love. The writing has never went into any great length to realistically include themes such as incest (societal or personal level approach and attitudes) or abuse because the characters’ need to be liked and loved and be above the characters that are only used as a fodder for ridicule and betterment of the main characters in comparison. All while Clare tries to create a guise of them being “complex” because of the fact. It’s one of the reasons I have found comparing G.R.R. Martin’s style of implementation of different themes to Clare’s meaningful (as there have been convos about this some time back on the blog) because they are not nearly the same even though it is an easy comparison her readers like to make.
When it comes to idealizing abusive behavior, similar attitude within the readership can be seen in Isabelle’s character when she thinks Valentine is hot for being a villain. Young adult literature is littered with characters exactly like Jace who do not face responsibility for their abusive behavior because that is what the author chooses to prioritize and coddle, simultaneously failing to realize the impact that kind of behavior realistically has on others around them. Jace’s behavior isn’t acknowledged because others are meant to serve him and conform around his needs. Even Clary, who is the protagonist and heroine of the story. It’s never really about her—even her pain—it’s about Jace.
When I read TMI for the first time, I was incredibly conflicted with feeling the way I did (hateful and uncomfortable with many decisions and characters) because authors know better, right? This is how it is supposed to be, right? This isn’t supposed to be about anyone else than Clary and Jace, right? So why anything would be done different or better or given more attention to?
Fuck that. And also fuck Zara Dearborn because we know what Clare’s doing. And it’s embarrassing.
I am incredibly sorry that you had to live through such a horrible thing. I can’t even imagine the pain and confusion you’ve had to endure and work through. There isn’t much I can say but I hope you are faring better today and had good and trustworthy people around you to support you during the recovery (and still do). How could you offend anyone with your thoughts when you’ve survived it and know the destruction it causes? Never apologize for that. I wish you happiness and all the best in life.

Why are you jumblr assholes so fucking obsessed with atheists? My guess is you found a group of people more despised than you and decided to join in on the atheist bashing. And you can hate on with impunity because no one else cares about us. And you have this build in defense where if anyone calls you on your bullshit you can just cry “antisemitism” and shut down the discussion. Because no matter what you’re always the victims. And then you wonder why we hate you!
the funniest thing about this to me personally is that I'm actually an atheist jew lmao
now im in a good mood so I'm going to try and take this question a little seriously even though you just seem angry and whiny and bitter and intent on bothering jewish people minding our business
in the real world, the biggest threat to jewish safety and security right now is, (at least in the us, canada, europe, australia, and aotearoa) is white supremacy and christo-fascism. but tumblr is not quite the real world
if you did a demographic study of tumblr, you would find that the majority of users (but not all of course) are probably left-leaning, from either the us or europe, white, and were either raised in christian home or grew up in a culturally christian place. this is obviously not all tumblr users, but it probably describes most Tumblr users. and if you did a survey of all tumblr users who were either raised christian and/or raised in a culturally christian place, you would probably find that most (though not all) do not currently practice christianity, and many might also say they suffered some religious trauma.
within this group (people raised christian/culturally christian who are now atheists), there is a lot of variety on how people see religion as a whole and interact with religious people. there is one particular subset of this group who I will generously refer to as the "somewhat ignorant but loud spoken atheists". it's the person who says that all religion is equally bad. it's the person who has unlearned the harm christianity has done to themselves, but not to other communities. it's the person who parrots the same islamaphobia and antisemitism as the church leaders they critique. it's bill maher. it's the person who sees religious and ethnic minorities being proud of their heritage and serious about their traditions and thinks it's the same as christians trying to rewrite laws in the us.
so when we talk about antisemitism on tumblr, because of tumblr demographics, those types of people will be the ones who espouse the most antisemitism here. it's similar to why tumblr users may be more combative with terfs than other transphobes, simply because you're much more likely to find a terf here than a conservative
I can't speak for all jews (we are a notoriously disagreeable people lol), but we really have no problems with atheism or atheists in general. hell, there are many jews (such as myself) who are atheists. we don't think everyone on earth needs to follow the same religious framework, so someone being an atheist is no problem. the issue is that you espouse antisemitism and refuse to apologize for it

Hils Watches Strong Woman Do Bong Soon - Ep 13
Tumblr media
Dude she just showed up at your house crying hysterically because her best friend has been kidnapped. Maybe now is not the time to give her the necklace you had made for her. Ooh unless he's put a tracker in it so if she charges off on her own he'll know where she is. Creepy and also romantic?
Tumblr media
Sure, Jan
Tumblr media
I can't believe it took you until now to do a basic background check on your main suspect
Tumblr media
So on the one hand we've got a dramatic storyline about a psychopath who kidnaps women and on the other hand we've got...whatever this is
Tumblr media
Yeah, he did put a tracker in her necklace
Tumblr media
I love that she wore leather pants to go and save her friend.
Tumblr media
Love to see women saving women
Tumblr media
She could break your arm with her pinkie but she's still a lady and should therefore have car doors opened for her. Unsure if cute or annoying.
Tumblr media
I mean he's probably not going to announce that a random woman broke in, destroyed a bunch of property, rescued all the kidnapped girls and btw happens to have super strength
Tumblr media
Dude, come on. Her best friend is still kidnapped, she went to her oldest friend who happens to also be a cop to ask for help and advice. Now is not the time for your petty jealousy. She's scared and upset and does not have time for your fragile ego.
Tumblr media
Well, at least he accepts that. I think this drama is definitely trying, it just misses the mark sometimes.
Tumblr media
I do like some of the gender role reversal stuff they're doing. I mean In Gookdoo's conservative 'women shouldn't be alone with men unchaperoned' bullshit. But usually in dramas it's the man doing the stoic 'we can't be together because you'll be in danger' thing
Tumblr media
FFS! When she said 'don't tell anyone I saved those girls' that did not mean 'run off immediately and tell your boss'
Tumblr media
Can you imagine the drama if Do Bong Soon had chosen In Gookdoo instead of Ahn Minhyuk. Their mothers hate each other. It would be highly entertaining.
Tumblr media
Maybe if you didn't keep physically abusing him she wouldn't have to protect him
Tumblr media
Aww so there's still the potential for them to be boyfriends and also date Do Bong Soon when this is all over
Tumblr media
I know I'm trying to apply logic to a superpowers show but come on surely the curse has to be about intent. Didn't they say that if you abuse your powers to hurt the innocent they'll be removed. She didn't even know that dude was in the elevator that was about to crush her friend to death. She certainly didn't intend to hurt him.
