Possibly How It Should Have Been

Gosh, I've just thought about it sometimes, as I'm largely trying to turn my creative focus onto something more enjoyable than ML (hence less writing for ML fics), but sometimes I just can't help but focus on it. Cause it's a great concept and it's butchered and that bothers me so much.

And there's SO MUCH that could've been done to improve it. Some of which could be easy tweaks. Some of which needs massive overhauling. Some of it is just picking a lane, staying in that lane, and you follow the road to progress.

It's a great concept with a LOT of possibilities and ways it could've been done. I've actually thought about possible ML Rewrites a few times, I even reached out to a friend to try and help develop a Rewrite that we could've collabed on cause I was struggling to much to decide, and we both just got stuck cause there's so many options for characters and what could possibly be done as we could see so many pros for each option.

And of course, part of the pondering that came to my mind was seeing promising improvement with kwami swaps.

Like, Marinette and Adrien may have developed better if they had each other's miraculous. Plagg could've been the ideal foil to Marinette as he's the opposite of her in every way, addressing her overworking herself, prioritizing others over herself, and caring so much about her responsibilities that it just weighs and stresses her out. And with Adrien and Tikki, she could've helped him develop as an actual, step up in responsibility, learn to take on duty, to care about others over himself. She also would've helped him get the plot rolling, as Adrien is a stagnant character but Tikki is not. She's going to get him involved into the Agreste plot whether he wants it or not, and in turn, he's going to get Tikki to learn to be more attentive and considerate of her holders cause things can go south for Adrien very quickly if she pushes too much.

Gosh, another great kwami swap that could've been done that could've improved a lot was switching up who are the leads. I always wondered if Tikki and Plagg TRULY would've picked Marinette and Adrien, also if they were even the right picks now that we know that Fu doesn't know everything and is running on limited knowledge. As far as we know, they ARE the wrong picks for these two. And considering there was an ep of Tikki and Plagg picking their own users, I now wonder if Alya and Nino should've been our actual leads.

How Alya was initially as Scarabella screams to me that it would've better served in the Origins as a starting hero. Alya also has promising potential arcs as a starting hero, especially as being a superhero is her living her dream:

There's the struggle of balancing her civilian and hero life, she can learn that the civilian life is just as important.

She can learn that being a hero isn't all glory and isn't always easy.

She can learn the importance of secrecy, and what happens if she exposes herself to the public or to a friend (probably Marinette).

And a lot of the lessons Tikki is involved with would make more sense with Alya, who does get tunnel vision and isn't good at listening to others and isn't so considerate and can be very pushy with her own agenda. Alya naturally aims for the leadership position and Tikki wants her Ladybugs to be leaders, so Tikki can help guide Alya to improve as a leader. Lastly, Alya will challenge Tikki on her call outs, which could at certain points help established that Tikki isn't always right and is open to learn and adapt too. And Alya could busy herself looking into HM, making her theories and being nosy about his identity, which Tikki would readily be apart of and encourage. Which Alya should've done in the show than recklessly trying to expose the heroes identity to the public and help HM win. Which, if Adrien wasn't a hero, maybe that should have been his role instead, which Gabriel could encourage and Adrien is even more excited cause he thinks his father is taking an interest in what he does which can be some later Adrien angst for you.

With Nino and Plagg, the BIGGEST plus is that it would actually give Nino SOMETHING outside Alya and Adrien. It would've prompt him to get more focus, and based on what's seen, he's 2nd to Marinette in having the most friends, meaning he can be more engaging and present with what happens to his classmates. Plagg also could bring some needed chaos to his life. You can even expand upon what's seen in Horrificatr where Nino can be controlling, strict, and harsh so Plagg can work on that. Nino does have some similarities to Marinette where he does care a lot for his friends and is hardworking, so there's something there to make Plagg a bit of a foil to him. To expand on Nino's role as Alya embraces being the big hero and savior, could even do the fandom popular idea of him getting Guardian training.

With those two taken, this nicely opens up others getting the Five.

Marinette can work with either Bee or Fox. If you want to work off Chloe vs Marinette, it works best if Marinette has the Bee. Though I think Pollen's personality should be overhauled, but if not, at least there's a perk that yes man Pollen going to force Marinette to take initiative and decide things for herself instead of seeking advise from her kwami. And with Fox, that can work off Marinette being a meddler, schemer, being creative, and her more inclined to work from the shadows. There could also be a fun twist to explore with Marinette not liking liars and she has a miraculous tied to deception, plus her and Trixx could've been an interesting pair to see interact, especially if working off what's seen in Sapotis where Trixx is very observant and manipulative, but also a bit of a chaotic gambler (from what I've seen, later seasons seem to ruin Trixx as a character). And of course, Marinette having Fox could work off her vs Lila, you could even dabble in her vs Felix.

Arguably, Chloe MAY grow as Alya and Nino would NOT have been so tolerant of her unlike Marinette and Adrien, so Chloe could've gotten the Bee and actually be a good hero and character for it. But that can also come down to preference and how you want Chloe to go.

Adrien could've gotten the Turtle, which I think could've been one of the best miraculous he could've gotten as he naturally likes to be a protector, and this miraculous works off that while also giving him protection. Wayzz also could've maybe addressed Adrien readily sacrificing himself, help him learn to be more cautious instead of rushing in, or at least think and be smart about how you go forward. There's even a possibility of Adrien having Turtle full time, as Nino could share his suspicions with Fu about Gabriel, so Wayzz could be there as a spy to check things out, which would have Adrien eventually get involved in his own plot, but still allow things to be at a slower pace. And as Wayzz, ideally, seems to be serious and dedicated but also playful and open minded, I think he would be very engaging with Adrien, which in turn could mean that when Adrien needs a call out, he would listen to what Wayzz had to say more (as most of the time Adrien ignores what Plagg says).

As for the leads, both would have an equal neutral involvement in the plot that can explain why things don't resolve quickly (looking at you Adrien who won't even ask questions about the suspicious book your father has). Alya would be a hero and lead for glory and self-righteousness, Nino would be to genuinely help others. Neither would have a super close tie to Gabriel, allowing him to sit under their noses for a while.

Also, gosh, you even could've had a lot of fun with color coded rivals/foils/personal antagonists for Alya and Nino.

If you really wanted to do Alya vs Lila, let Lila actually have the Fox or maybe she bought the Fox in Volpina, and this has Alya and Lila having the miraculous the other is color coded for. She could work off being a hero initially for the wrong reasons, just like Alya who starts for the glory too, as well as integrity vs deception.

Something could also be done between Nino vs Felix, with Nino really color coded for Peacock while Felix is color coded for Cat. Could play off both being ambitious to a fault and being selfish and nosy, but Nino cares more for others vs Felix is more exclusive.

And if expanding to others...

Of course could do Marinette vs Chloe if Marinette has the Bee, Chloe could have the Mouse, which could be funny to see Chloe deal with herself. That might humble her.

As for Adrien... could do him and Max being foils, work off Max getting Horse while largely wearing green, and I think Adrien is most color coded for Horse. Could work off both being perfectionist and could delve into the shared interest of gaming, with Max trying to bring out the competitiveness in Adrien. Could be thinking vs action.

Either way, ML is frustrating cause it's a show with potential and great concepts and it's irritating that it got butchered so. And the most frustrating thing is that there is just so many options to how it could've been done better. And kwami swap wise, these are my top two picks that would've been better.

Miraculous Season 6 Speculation

I pulled up this post I made after the season 4 finale to see how close I came with my predictions about season 5. Despite getting pretty much everything wrong, I did nail a few things:

Gabriel was unable to handle the power of all the Miraculous, at least at first

Felix used his control over sentibeings to target Gabriel (although notably not Adrien, whom he was trying to save if anything)

Alya regained the Fox Miraculous (admittedly in the last ep and alongside all the other previous holders)

Marinette fell in love with Chat Noir, complicating her feelings for Adrien

Luka was placed in an impossible position because he knows too much

Natalie's health declined to the point of incapacitation (although I didn’t anticipate the same with Gabriel)

Chloe and Lila established an alliance that ultimately went south

I admit most of these predictions were obvious and easily anticipated. I’d rather not embarrass myself by going too far inside M. Astruc’s head, but I can’t help speculating about what the next season holds.

Hence, I’d like to suggest a few plot threads I anticipate showing up during season 6:

Everyone assumed Cerise would be the new antagonist, using the Butterfly Miraculous to further her vendetta against Marinette and/or seize the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to forge a wish of her own. But Cerise’s panic in the last seconds of the ep suggests she’s encountered a powerful force she can’t control. This is the new enemy, although Cerise will become its servant and vessel if it means fulfilling her revenge.

This entity will be far more dangerous than Gabriel ever was, unbound by human emotion or empathy. It will be capable of neutralizing and even possessing the new and inexperienced Miraculous holders, forcing Ladybug to create a new power-up.

Who or what exactly is it? It will either be connected to Nooroo, driven insane by a damaged Miraculous, or Tomoe Tsurugi, the only player in Gabriel’s “Perfect Alliance” gambit who didn’t get anything she wanted.

Other plot points ripe for exploration:

Adrien and Marinette’s romance is plagued by lingering feelings of attraction for Ladybug and Chat Noir, respectively. They break up over it for at least one episode because one of them suspects there’s “someone else”. One of them gets possessed over it. However, Adrinette comes back stronger than ever, reinforced by better communication, more trust, and the realization that the other one isn’t perfect and that’s okay.

One of the other couples also breaks up or gets in an argument, again for only one episode and also involving possession.

Almost everyone believes Gabriel died a hero—except for Marinette, Felix, Kagami, Nathalie, and Amelie. One of them (and you all know which one) accidentally lets the butterfly out of the bag. Angst and drama ensue.

Amelie moves into Maison Agreste as Adrien’s legal guardian. It gives Adrien and Felix the chance to rebuild their relationship as cousins and friends. But certain members of the MiracuClass still don’t completely trust Felix. It causes problems when they realize he’s Argos.

The new Miraculous holders don’t know what the hell they’re doing and make all kinds of mistakes. They use their powers for selfish reasons, and LB and CN must save them from their own messes. They swap Miraculous without even telling Ladybug. They keep revealing their secret identities to each other. They upset, misplace, or lose control of their Kwamis. They get possessed by the new antagonist and use their Miraculous powers against Ladybug and Chat Noir. If Luka teaches any of them Mirakung Fu, someone's gonna kick one of their best friends in the face. Marinette briefly considers taking all the Miraculous back until an attack on her personally confirms she had the right idea. She starts relying more on Chat Noir as a mentor, and occasionally an enforcer, for the other holders.

Cerise joins the MiracuClass at the new school Miss Bustier created. Marinette’s the only one who recognizes Cerise as Lila, but everyone else thinks Marinette is nuts.

Chloe returns to Paris mid-season, discarded by her mother and with nowhere else to go. Andre reluctantly takes her in, and it turns out she learned nothing—she blames Ladybug for everything that went wrong in her life and will stop at nothing to get revenge. She may enroll at Marinette’s school in disguise and forge an alliance with Cerise, not realizing she herself is Lila in disguise, to “get” Marinette.

Sabrina and Marc’s mutual love of soccer leads the former to develop a crush on the latter. It ends well for no one.

And finally, Luka gets his own love interest, if only because he damn well deserves it.

Transmission Spoilers

I have many conflicted thoughts about this ep. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, especially the conversation in the dark, and Adrien and Marinette were quite cute with each other, and the communication was painful, but also really good. Also, Gabe needs to rot in hell dear lordie. But the pacing was very rushed, which, fair, that tends to happen with more plot heavy eps, but the distinct lack of Ladybug and Chat Noir interacting was odd. I would’ve thought it would make more sense for the obligatory akuma fight to be solved by Chat Noir and Ladybug as they go on (what they thought) would be their last fight together. We don’t get much insight at all into how Adrien and Marinette feel about leaving one of the most important person in their lives and that entire side of their life. With an akuma fight where they say goodbye (or they each say they just need a break and it’s not permanent or something) we would’ve at least had something (and more angst lol). And the ep then could’ve ended with Adrien and Marinette giving up their miraculous and Tikki and Plagg meeting up with their new holders. This would’ve allowed part 2 to include conversations with the kwamis with both Zoe and Alya (instead of just Alya), their transformation sequences, and maybe a bit longer of a fight as they grapple with their newfound positions and wonder why Chat Noir and Ladybug gave up their miraculous at the same time. Meanwhile, Adrien and Marinette become closer but also grapple with the reality of their new situation, and what it means to have given up that part of themselves. Adrien has essentially given away his ticket to freedom (I found it interesting how much of a focus there was on Adrien’s bar-like windows behind Plagg while Plagg gave his speech) while Marinette has given away this huge responsibility, but how are they both going to cope without their kwamis and their partners. And then eventual swap back, etc.

Which makes me wonder what part 2 has in store, that would be the cause for leaving out such a crucial interaction between Chat Noir and Ladybug in part 1, and also what is going to cause Adrien and Marinette specifically to take their miraculous back. I know Gabe has tracked Zoe and Alya with the alliance rings but Tikki and Plagg could still go and choose different holders again, they don’t necessarily have to go back to their previous holders (having to holder hop would definitely be suspicious and possibly lead to some scrutiny with the rings, since apparently Adrien and Marinette are the only ones who don’t use one). So Adrien and Marinette actually wanting the miraculous back will probably play a factor. My guess is this will be where the actual reality of what they’ve given up will come crashing down, at least I think.

Final comments:

i loved it. i never really have anything all that intelligent to say about the show compared to most but this episode was really adorable and i love seeing the progression of this kinda rearranged lovesquare. plus i love a good kwami swap

Vaguely episode-order related, but if you had to guess, which episodes do you think are gonna have the remaining new heroes? There are four left and then Bunnix, and earlier this season I was like, yeah there’s plenty of time for all of them, but now there are only a handful of unannounced/no-available-plot-info eps left. Especially since the story is getting into the main-plot zone and there’s been a good deal of unification/kwami swaps that have a similar effect to new heroes. 15, 19, 20? 23/24 feel late but I wouldn’t rule them out... 21 and 22 seem unlikely but the possibility is there since Ladybug is in a pickle both times and neither have trailers, just spoilers with no mention of new help, but few details all around.

Maybe we’ll get em in season 5, idk! Although I don’t have a hard time believing ml can squeeze them in in this short amount of time, they can do a lot with 11 episodes!

Personally, I’m counting on 5 or 9 for new hero’s definitely, since they’re so early, and then maybe 15 and 19? I don’t really know in regards to the 4 tbh, but as for bunnyx I feel like she can show up as late as she wants… maybe we’ll see her debut in episode 100, since whatever goes down there must need some fixing lmao.

It’s hard to predict, especially with limited info, but we’ll see!

Genuinely wondering. Why do you think using the name lady noir(e) is rude to the Fandom? I know you're kind of over this subject so you don't have to answer

(I haven’t actually answered this question yet so you’re gucci c: )

So, and I forgot to mention it today because I didn’t scroll through for posts to reblog (whoops), but as of today we’ve had the show for 4 whole years! 4 years of Ladybug and Chat Noir saving the day. (Approximately a little less time for the fandom to take hold, but I’ll say about October 2015 with the French premiere was when the fandom really got going.) 

Obviously the romance is a major focus of the show, so tumblr immediately had to get going with the tags. People quickly realized that the love square had different dynamics on each side, and came up with something for each part. Some pieces took time to workshop; during the early fandom I heard “Adrienbug” or “Chatmari,” and I think to this day we’re not completely sure what we prefer with “Adrienette.”

But if there was one ship name we nailed, it was “Ladynoir.” Of the four, this could easily be seen as the “main” ship of the show, as it is first and foremost a superhero show (so they’re always transformed at some point) and even at the beginning we saw their cute banter. I considered it so dominant, in fact, that my original tag for shippy content was just “ladynoir” even when I just meant any aspect of the love square. (A tag I gave up on when, yknow, I realized that the whole show was one big romance)

So in interacting with the fandom all these years, the staff knew well that we called one of the ships “Ladynoir.” Heck, they’ve been known to tease us on Twitter with “you guys will be happy with the Adrienette in this episode :)”, etc. This isn’t a fandom secret or something. 

Now, I don’t know how long ZAG has been planning a kwami swap. It’s been a popular fan idea about as long as the show’s been on, certainly it had also been tossed around the writers room. But I don’t think they could have feasibly designed them before October 2015. 

Even if they had? There would be 4 years before the episode actually hit screens. All the time that it takes to make an episode, from writing room floor to animation to dubbing, takes months. On a smaller time frame, say they designed Lady Noire and Mister Bug when they first started writing season 3, and sent out the doll designs immediately so the merch could get a head start; there were months between then and the script getting sent in for animation. Anybody with even a little fandom exposure could’ve said “yeah what if we tried a different name?” and workshopped it a bit before the lip flap animations were locked in. 

They shouldn’t lock in bad ideas before sending them to animators, and in fact, we know they don’t: Nora was named “Nancy” in her first sketches, Queen Bee’s leaked design had a purse instead of the top, and don’t forget Zag leaked the season 2 powerups as a big reveal for the season… and it turned out they’d tossed the pearl idea and went with the potions. Things can and should change to make sure only the best ideas go in the episodes. 

But all of that means that, way back when we first found out about the swap names, it was likely early enough that they hadn’t even gotten to animating Reflekdoll. (The fact that we’re not getting this episode until this week, despite having it in production for about a year, means they had plenty of time to change.) 

Now, after typing and researching all of this, I’ve come to a realization: maybe ZAG did it instead as an homage to the ship name. The writers can definitely see our fandom, and the idea that they actually saw something from us and wanted to shout it out is kind of flattering. We can ask Thomas more about this in a couple days after the episode has aired. 

Why I don’t want her to be Lady Noire? Because having a character take the exact name of a ship only serves to screw up tags. Fans group and find fanworks by ship name tags, and having something completely different come in and take the tag only confuses everyone. I mean, cartoon-makers are very familiar with the phenomenon: they have to strive to give characters and shows unique names so they stand out among other properties. It’s one of the reasons we get ‘Cat Noir’ instead of just ‘Black Cat.’ And for some of the creators being so active in the fandom, they know we love our tags and ship names. They should know better than to pick something so now we have confusion between the Ladynoir ship and Marinette with the black cat. 

Anyway. They’ve had a lot of time for the backlash to set in, so maybe for the finalized ep they did go with different names. Heck, maybe this is why the ep took so long to make and kept getting pushed back – like I know there are some new models here, but not that many more than a typical new ep, right? Especially since Reflekta’s power is legit just “reuse Reflekta’s model.” Maybe, just maybe, renaming the hero(es) meant they had to go back and get the animators to change every instance that they mentioned the names (probably a good few times in the ep). Super unlikely but, as always, I can dream.

Felix and Chat blanc /Overall Season 3 Review

Gabriel is a terrible father

So this episode was probably the best ep hands down in Season 3 overall. Adrien was overall so accepting that Marinette was ladybug.

Marinette is adorable, but her sniffing Adrien’s pillow is a big no no.

Bunnix is the op. Her knowing about all the presents is something else.

Chat Blanc is so mentally unstable kind of opposite of how Adrien is composed.

The Adrienette kiss was amazing.

Their relationship was so pure and healthy.

Gabriel is the worst( father of the year, anyone?)Breaking up your own sons relationship, just to akumatize his lover is not ok.

Gorilla needs to be Adrien’s guardian for now on.

Bless Chat blanc, he gave me chills. Poor baby was so afraid. The fight between him and ladybug was intense.

Marinette accepting Chat was big owo energy.

Their dynamic is still the same even though they now know each other’s identities.

Gabriel showing his son his comatose mother then proceeding to bat his own son halfway across Paris. Then proceeds to manipulate him and further traumatized him despite him begging to stop is big YIKES. Then AKUMATIZES HIM AND MAKES HIM CHOOSE BETWEEN HIM AND HIS MOTHER OR HIS GIRLFRIEND IS ABOSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

Poor bby was terrified and couldn’t control said powers which resulted in him destroying not only Paris and killing EVERYONE including the love of his life.

Ladybug seeing herself dead was chilling and sad.

Her realizing that loving chat could have serious consequences was heartbreaking.

Chat is big bby and his lullaby is adorable yet sad. The ladynoir scene at the end was precious. It sad that Marinette now thinks that loving Adrien furthermore Chat could lead to ultimate destruction even though it is Gabriel’s fault. Until that psycho is behind bars they can’t be together without him exploiting them. Now it is understood why Marinette gave up Adrien/Chat to Kagami in Loveater. 😔

Felix is aight I guess? The episode was good.

Adrien visiting his mother’s grave was sweet and saddening.

Nathalie spilling and waving at Adrien was pure.

Adrien singing his lullaby like he did in Chat Blanc. Probably learned it from his mother.

Gabriel almost told Adrien the truth about his plans.

Adrien being the most supportive cinnamon roll about his father’s relationship with Natalie.

Gabriel’s obsession with Emilie is seriously unhealthy.

Aunt Amilie is kind of wholesome yet something is off about her.

Felix is a brat, impersonating and getting back at your cousin because he couldn’t attend your fathers funeral even though it was out of his control is not ok.

Felix sending awful message to Adrien’s friends when they send something nice to him on the day of his mother’s disappearance is not ok.

Felix harassing Ladybug is not ok. Ladybug punching Felix after she said no was a POWER MOVE.

Aunt Amilie is an enabler to Felix’s bad behavior.

Felix apologizing to Adrien was sweet despite everyone questioning if it was sincere I think it was.

Felix stealing the ring was kind of a lol moment. Feel slightly bad for Gabriel.

Adrien saying I love you to everyone was adorable.

Felix plotting against Gabriel is interesting.

Definitely my 2nd fav episode of out of Season 3.

Ps Natalie protecting Adrien was everything.

SEASON 3 OVERALL IS.....................OK.

Not the strongest season especially after the hype of the finale of season 2.

Chameleon was a strong start.

Weredad was weird but had plot.

Chris master was odd but fun.

Onichan progressed relationships.

Bakerix was alright, and it was wholesome at the end.

Oblivio was my fav ep. #lovesquare

Silencer progressed relationships.

The puppeteer 2 gave progression.

Desperada was Adrien abuse.

Timetagger had Future Alix and she is amazing.

Backwarder another fail for Marinette

Gamer 2.0 Lila getting punched was awesome.

Animatrix was chaotic and fun

Star train was pleasant. #Adrinette

Stormy Weather 2 had inner character feelings.

Party Crasher was fun but Marinette was annoying.

Ladybug was an awesome ep. Adrien going kinda dark was surprising.

Reflekdoll kwami swap was pretty cool.

Miraculer has development

Felix was a great Adrien center ep

Chat blanc was a great Adrien center ep

Loveater was a great part 1 finale.

Miracle Queen was a bad part 2 finale.

Season 3 the writing was inconsistent.Overall my top five eps was Chat Blanc, Felix, Oblivo, Ladybug and Loveater. Here’s to Season 4 advancing the plot even further.

Mister Bug and Lady Noire Sets (or master post for the first part)

So, I’ve watched the episode again in a better quality (not HD but enough at this point) and taken reference pictures. As always with new suits (Rena, AquaBug etc) I catch -tons- of mistake, but since I doubt we’re going to have another kwami swap, I’ll base my Sets on this ep and fill with personal preference where needed.

First of all, do you think Lady Noire is the right name? On the English dolls is written as Lady Noire, but when we first had a glance at her doll promo (portoguese?) it was Lady Noir (if Thomas or Winny confirmed somewhere please tell me).

Now, let’s talk about their costumes and how I want to make them.

LN has 3D decor similar to CN suit, but green and with small dark grey/black beads.

She’s wearing heels but shorter than QB, and with the same green decor but less/not puffy.

The baton is attached to the left side, the green lace is closed by a what looks like a flattened sphere with the green cat paw on the other side (I’ll talk about this in other pics too because it’s what has been affected more by animation mistakes).

She has green trim around her legs, neck and ears too, with the same dark beads theme going on, except for the ears that don’t have any kind of bead/stud unlike CN.

You can see the bead behind her leg. And her braid is very very long. Also, darker than her ice transformation iirc (in which she already has darker hair than usual).

They both have colored sole decor unlike their normal selves.

They have the same mask as if it depends from the kwami (pointed for LN and round for MB). LN also takes her eye color from Plagg (as Viperion with Sass) but MB has Adrien’s green eyes.

The area below the green trim on the arms is thicker as if she’s wearing gloves (the same way CN pads do around his trims).

The bead on her neck is flattened.

MB has layered outfit as QB, it’s not as thick as the pads on the chest, arms, etc but it’s there.

The shoulders are heavily padded, I think more than his regular suit. I didn’t considered the spots at this moment because they caused me nightmares with LB but they have geometry going on, and they are lesser than LB for obvious reasons.

As you can see on LN, the thing on her hips is now a black circle, that sometimes fly, sometimes is flat (It just makes me want to scream in frustration). MB hips lace is black instead of red as LB.

While there’s a clear net pattern in MB suit (same as LB with shining edges), LN doesn’t show any particular pattern in this quality (while CN had shining exagons), but, from the way her suit reflects light, I assume she has the same pattern as CN mask, which seems patternless unless the camera is very close and you can see very small exagons.

As I said, very very long braid.

She has smaller claws than CN!! And she wears the ring in the same finger/hand iirc (sorry, it has been long time since I paid attention to it).

The legs seems to have dimension too as if they are boots.

Layered arm between black and red areas.

Layered leg.

LN main beads has become some sort of flat distorted paw.

LN leg trim confirmed 3D with a round bead.

Layered (or just bump map) chest too, even between reds.

How do I intend to proceed with the sets:

The green trims on LN arms and legs are going to be 3D as my CN ones, but I won’t make the gloves/boots thicker to fake dimension (as I haven’t done with CN pads. At the time because I wasn’t able to, now because it’s a very little detail for the game). The trims on the neck and shoes are probably going to be just texture, but separated from the main suit uv space to make them clear around the edges. All the beds are going to be 3D, the neck one will be more flat.

I will reuse CN baton, ears, and ring (and probably QB hips lace too), properly adjusted for female frame and in the right position. The ring and baton will only have one swatch (full miraculous and green paw, I’ll probably add the inactive miraculous for both but not the grey baton). I won’t change the baton according to CN reference sheet they shared after I made the set (just one paw in one side, while mine has it on both), but I’ll probably fix the mesh artifacts now that I’m able to.

I have to remake the hair for LN (but they’ll have the same CAS swatch color as Mari’s other ones to avoid conflicts with the game genetics), for MB you’ll have to download CN hair (I won’t change them, they are a little wonky because they were my first complicated hair mesh but I like to have him with the same hair). LN hair won’t be that long, they’ll end around the ankles to avoid further problems with clipping.

For LN shoes I have to use the same tecnique I’ve used for QB (separated in CAS) due to the heels.

For the mask, I’ll try to reuse the original ones as much as possible, I’ll just adjust the shape/shadows where needed due to the different frame.

MB will be all 2D despite layered (as I did for QB) except for the shoulder pads. I’ll add a proper normal map to fake the plates on his chest.

MB yoyo will be the same as LB, but I’ll probably adjust the uv and texture now that I know what I’m doing, the lace will be black. For LN hell paw symbol, I’ll go with a flattened black sphere with the green paw on it.

The specular (reflection) of the suit will be net for MB and exagons for LN (as my original LB and CN suits). There will also be the one with the solid specular for both as usual.

I’ll make the claws for LN but similar to my CN set, I don’t think they would be good looking in game as short as in the show.

I’ll convert LB earrings for males and add only the active, inactive swatch (even if they aren’t going to be seen with MB hair).

I think I took everything into account. It’s not that much work, since I already have the base for the suits ready and the 3D stuff they added shouldn’t be difficult (except for LN hair). I don’t know when I’m going to make them, but expect them very soon (probably before Chloé and even Evelynn). In any case all the four sets (Evelynn, Chloé, Lady Noire, Mister Bug) should be ready before the end of september.

(Maybe one day I’ll make their photoshoot outfits too. I don’t know where to add HM and Mayura mask combined, probably need to add a new category in my extra sets. If I’ll ever make Juleka because she’s going to receive a miraculous, and she’s still a teen -not adult like Alix, that I still need to figure out how to categorize-, I won’t do her hair with the hairclip, just her regular ones.)

🎶Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends?🎶 Why!? We have really nice friendships in the show! Marinette and Alya, Adrien and Nino, Max and Kim, Chloe and Sabrina (in a twisted sense) there’s also “Juleka and Rose” along w/ “Nathaniel and Marc” *wink* Who’s the most questionable person you wouldn’t wanna be friends with? Let’s find out:

*Ikari Gozen-It’s Friendship Day in Paris! (Yes, it’s a real holiday, look it up) and the weather girls, Aurore and Mireille, who’ve now become friends, are celebrating by having a contest pairing up random strangers in town w/ others to form friendships and work together through a scavenger hunt all to win a fun filled day with Adrien Agreste! Marinette and the girl squad participate and Marinette is selected to be friends wiiiiiiiiiiiiiith-(drum roll) Kagami Tsurugi! Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! Oh boy! Out of all the 2.141 million population in Paris, she’s partnered up with one of her many rivals for Adriens affections! What a kick in the a**.

Fearing that Adrien will chose Kagami to be his girlfriend if they win since they’re already so close and developing feelings for each other, Marinette does everything she can to sabotage their chances at winning, but like she said, Kagami is brilliant and they achieve in all their challenges. It doesn’t get any better when in the middle of one challenge, Kagami kept asking her weird random questions all w/ a quick forced awkward smile that was quite unsettling for our heroine. Another part of the challenge included swapping phones with your partner and this was a callback to all those times Marinette stole peoples phones and she discovers something about Kagami..........she has no friends :(. (sad violin music plays) Hell! The only person on her contacts list is her mother! There’s absolutely nothing from Adrien on her phone and she was looking up “How to Make Friends” using an app. Marinette felt like sh*t now that she realized she was ruining what could’ve been a beautiful friendship.

Kagami heard about the sabotage from Marinettes phone when Alya sent a video wishing Marinette luck on losing w/ Kagami and she wasn’t mad, but disheartened. Like she failed at friendship :(. (sad violin music plays) Poor girl, she wanted other friends besides Adrien and now she can’t have her own gal pal. No one to shop w/ or get O.J w/ or discuss blood types since that’s kinda her thing right now or whatever. Hawk Moth sends out an akuma on her for that. Oh God, who’s she gonna turn into now!? Kagami gently backs out on the competition feeling unworthy, but Marinette has a change of heart and accepts her friendship even trying to convince her mother that she’s her friend which cheers her up. Not today, little butterfly! Not today! However, we learn Kagami never asked her mothers permission to enter the competition which upset her to steer the akuma in her direction instead and she becomes Ikari Gozen! A giant mechanical centaur w/ her walking cane bokken as a weapon! She has a cool car though. It’s voice activated since she’s blind which is pretty awesome. Better than a chauffeur!

Kagami gets eaten (she’s still alive just kept captive in Ikaries stomach) and Ladybug is given a lucky charm to find Master Fu (who’s still in Paris despite Hawk Moth being aware of him) and she chooses the dragon miraculous! Fellow Miraculers, I present to you the holder of the dragon miraculous, Kagami Tsurugi! A.k.a Ryuko! (trumpets sound). Obvie. Her Kwami was a dragon named Longg, her weapon:a sword, her miraculous:a choker and her power, get this, is a choice between three elements! Yeah! Three! Water💦, Wind🌬 and Lightning⚡️! But wait! There’s more! She doesn’t detransform after one is used, but until all three are used! Best.power.everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

During this years SDCC, someone uploaded the whole ep of this on YouTube when it was shown in the English Dub (thank you kind stranger, much obliged) and although it was in bad quality, I appreciated it and hearing the audience in the background of the sneak peek made it look like a sitcom which was kinda fun! Nice to see friendships formed here such the reconcile between Aurore and Mireille, Alya and Wayhem and now Marinette and Kagami! Thank goodness! It’s what the fandom wanted! Marinette has enough rivals already and it’s time she made friends with one of ‘em. Besides, we all know how Adrien feels about each one of her rivals (Chloe has no chance, Lila is unredeemable, Aurore and Mireille are barely around, so we don’t need to worry about ‘em and Wayhem, well...........it depends on how Adrien rolls). Kagami was the closest (next to Ladybug) on winning over Adrien and even though there were moments where she was nice, Marinette was clouded by her jealousy over her and cuz she always saw her as cold and reserved. She has feelings too Marinette! Shame on you! (course now that they’re friends I don’t know how that’ll work w/ the whole Adrien issue still up in the air. Especially for the season finale!). Strict parents raise rebels they say and we’ve seen Adrien do that, now he’s encouraged Kagami to do the same since “Desperada”. We’ve seen Kagami train her fencing many times (“Onichan” and “Feast”), but the girl needs a break Tomoe! No wonder she and Gabe are close, they both keep their children occupied w/ no time for fun! Master Fu is being extremely cautious now that his identity was discovered (“Feast”), but as we saw here and “Party Crasher”, he needs to still be close enough to train Marinette into guardianship and give her miraculouses when needed. Although, its not necessary, it’s only his name Hawk Moth knows cuz he can’t see from his supervillain form and only sense feelings. Master Fu also used a fake name in “Syren” just to be safe. Ryuko was ✨amazing!✨By far, she’s the best superhero with the best superpowers I’ve seen in the show. The fandom has done it again, Kagami got the dragon miraculous! She has three powers! Sooooooo much better than a single power one shot use! I always thought she’d have pyrokinesis since dragons are fire breathers, but I guess the lightning power was close enough. Still, three powers! More important, her weapon of choice was a sword! Perfect! Unfortunately, it was her first and last day of being a super due to her cockiness and exposing herself in front of her mother and Hawk Moth finding out about it. Damn! In and out in just one day! That’s the shortest superhero career I’ve seen since Electra in the 2003 “Daredevil” movie! Phffft! Guess this means I have to call in the trumpeters (summons the trumpeters and they arrive. I motion for them to play “Taps”. They play “Taps”). Oh Ryuko, although we’ve only known you for about 15mins, you were a gift. Your powers surpassed that of the dynamic duo with your elemental abilities and multiple use also your experience with fencing in your civilian form helped you to wield a true sword. Shame your hastiness exposed your identity and you were forced into retirement, but we shall not forget your presence and pray to the stars that you will one day come back to us. Great! Just great! The best superhero to come into the show and now we’ll never see them again! (crosses arms and pouts). Thanks a lot Hawkdaddy :P.

Another salty thing about Prime Queen: Chat never learns a lesson at all. Marinette learns a lesson about being a superhero and not a celebrity, but Chat is never uncomfortable with the line of questioning and doesn't want to leave, so I guess Chat Noir IS a celebrity by ML's logic?? Prime Queen in general is a mess but this is something new I just realized.

It’s probably working what his own experiences as a model and celebrity, he’s probably been in interviews like these and he knows what they’re about. They’re more about teasing and humoring, and tabloids love the “are they a couple?”. And he himself can’t deny that he would love the thought that they “could be” one day. And unfortunately, yeah, they are. And it’s probably going to end up the most unhealthy thing to see in this show... 

Either way, Paris is going to see them as icons and celebrities, which isn’t right as their here to save the city and we now know they’re like 13-14 yo. They don’t need that type of pressure of fame and they’re here to not be those sort of celebrities. Just because public majority has this one type of expectation doesn’t mean it has to be followed or accepted. The public view isn’t always right. Marinette is in her full, personal right to be upset that Nadja is digging into her love life just because that’s what the public cares about. No one should be in that situation, especially a 13 yo. 

And Adrien should’ve learned to be more conscious of his partner, just because he’s ok and used to this doesn’t mean he can ignore or dismiss her clear discomfort and growing frustration with this set up. Cause most of that interview, from what I remember, he was devaluing her stern answers about their relationship. Nor was he doing anything to help her out as Nadja kept drilling her about things that she was clearly uncomfortable with. And him being confused and baffled about them leaving just really shows how little he understands her, despite working with her for a season. 

And its not the only ep to elaborate on this lack of understanding on Chat’s part, Silencer we see that Marinette and Luka are able to communicate silently with each other, but when she looses her voice, Chat can’t understand her at all. And she’s clearly distressed and he’s cracking fun about it. 

Prime Queen really is one of those eps that you look back and you see a lot of issues. It’s really one of those eps that forewarns you about Adrien’s issues as a partner and love interest. If they were building up to something I guess some leeway could be given, but why drag these issues out for so long? Especially since they’re gradually turning people away from Adrienette, specifically canon with Adrien and Marinette’s behavior. These two literally bring out the worst in each other. It’s baffling to me if anyone is still rooting for them canon wise as there’s just so many issues and toxic signs there. Like, fanon Adrienette, ok, I know that’s loads better but canon? 

Canon has officially lost me on the ship. And even fanon I can’t get into. I can’t ever go back to them romantically, Scarlet Lady, as great as it is, has confirmed this for me as I’m definitely not getting into the Adrienette content, even with Adrien being better. I’m more enjoying the better characterization and kwami swap over all. 

Yeah, Prime Queen is an ep with many issues and its not one to fondly look back upon. I think alongside Weredad, it might’ve been better as an s1 ep to showcase they aren’t on the same page and you have Marinette dealing with that type of publicity for the first time, and that could introduce to Adrien that not everyone is ok with this type of attention. Well, assuming something will stick with him. With Refleckdoll, we clearly see how well he learns lessons...

So About the Kwami Swap EP...

First of all I really hope it's a two-parter because there's a lot of potential there and I don't want them to be short on time exploring it.

And second, we know we're getting Black Cat Marinette and Ladybug Adrien. But! Are the others going to swap Kwamis as well? Is everyone going to swap?

If Hawkmoth is left out then that means one of the heroes will be left out as well(probably Chloe). So then that'd mean we could see Fox Nino and Turtle Alya!

On the other hand, if Hawkmoth ends up swapping as well then we have much more possible combinations. Along with Nino and Alya swapping theirs we could see a Butterfly Chloe and Bee Gabriel!

Or Bee Alya and Fox Chloe with Turtle Gabriel and Butterfly Nino.

Or Butterfly Alya and Bee Nino with Fox Gabriel and Turtle Chloe.

Bee Gabriel or Fox Gabriel would probably have the most potential for villainy. (The Turtle is a naturally protective Miraculous so it would be kind of hard to make it villainous.)

Butterfly Chloe would be hard for her because she'd be trying to turn someone heroic instead of villainous.(She's had tons of practice turning others villainous with how often she's been the cause of people getting akumatized.) Which could be detrimental to developing her character further...

So overall I'm leaning towards Fox Nino & Turtle Alya with Butterfly Chloe & Bee Gabriel. (The first two for cute couple reasons with the last two being more plot related wishes.) But what do you guys think?

The Swap

Hi! It's been so long since I haven't done any critiques on MLB ep. So now, I'm going to catch up and now I'm back! Again, this is a SPOILER ALERT post.

1. LQ (Lover's quarrel) - Though they're not officially couples, Reflekdoll episode started to these love birds' cute quarrels and arguments about their roles. It's cute and they just didn't realize yet how cute of a couple they can be.

2. Humor Department - Pfft... Seriously, Chat? If something like that exists, please take me there. I need a lot of humor in my life. Lol

3. Luka as a brother - This episode showed how it feela like to have Luka as a brother to Juleka and he's so damn sweet and caring! Ugh! Please be my boyfriend already!

4. Alya being pushy - I know she's just helping her bff Marinette, but I kinda feel like she's going too far on this episode. She has to let Marinette do things in her own special way. Though, it might take a loooot of time.

5. The dressing spot - This made me laugh a bit.. Like, seriously? Theh changed clothes on the same spot in the same room?! It's kinda ridiculous for me.

6. Adrien wearing earrings - Kinda look gay but he's still handsome and it's getting to my nerves! Well, it's fashion and we can't do anything about it.

7. Perfect match? - They look cute in here if Marinette's not being stumble in her words. Hmm... But what if this will be their couple shirt after some time? What do you think? Hehe

8. Nathalie's transformation - Now we all know that the magic words are: "Spread my feathers". And finally, we get to see her transform as Mayura.

9. Swapped behaviors - Usually, it was Tikki who's always the optimist one. But in this episode, Plagg encouraged Tikki that everything will be alright which I rarely see.

10. The transformations - Finally! We get to see them transform with swapped miraculouses. Marinette looked so awesome and Adrien... Well, he... Looks fine? XD

11. Lucky Charm & Cataclysm - I've always dreamed of hearing and seeing them say and perform those powers and it went perfectly great! It's just that I don't think I'll get use to it. I like the original better. ^^

12. Swapped Pound it! - I love this scene! Now that they swapped, it gives another feeling!

14. Never Again - Now that they learned their lesson, they'll never remove their miraculous ever again that's for sure. Look how they missed their kwamis and it's so sweet!

Did you see zoe end shot of her butt. And her transformation yellow suit felt like it was painted on her. Nino has maintained his color but max and alya have not. And they said every conversation alya has with marinette has to include adrien like this show is too much on preteen romance

I don't remember her butt shot but I'm not surprised. Most if not all have to show off their butt.

Nino is of the lucky one to not get lighter skin.

And yep. They're working off not so good cliches thinking of what most girls like. In this day and age, its exhausting. Especially knowing that there aren't a lot of women who work on this show or write a lot of the episodes.

Chances are also incredibly high that they're looking to the fandom for ideas as a lot of fandom ideas appeared in this show (Miss Fortune cameo, Chat Blanc, Turtle Nino, the name Jade Turtle, kwami swap, what if reveal ep in Oblivio and CB, tease for akuma Marinette, Chloe family angst that babies her, surprise good sister related to Chloe, Alya learning Marinette's LB, ect.); all of these I've seen at least once or know that they're popular in the fanon. And you really raise a brow to see how much has made it into canon.

I am at a point I just want the show cancelled, and get picked up by someone else, worked on by a lot of ladies, poc, and LGBT people. This is a show with great potential and great potential characters and they just screw it up with their laziness.

That to me is the biggest irritation. Just doing nothing with that potential and that's why I'm still here cause this untapped potential is driving me crazy.

Even though I have a soft spot for the OG duo designs, I'm not including them here. And my ranking can vary from time to time, but right now this’s my top:

5. Kwami Swap

This is probably cheating, but allow me to not separate them 😅 I agree with Adrien, I too think they look pretty good in these costumes. At times Lady Noire's pupils are too narrow, and Mister Bug's concept art is bit more neat than its realization, but overall I like the looks.

4. Vesperia

One of the perks of this design is that it changes Zoe's appearance a lot thanks to the hairstyle and the mask. I like her boots and the stripes that "break" to create a "V" - for the first letter of her name. I wasn't fond of the mask before, but with time I got to like it. And the more-black-than-yellow top with more-yellow-than-black bottom creates an illusion of a jacket and trousers (a bit like Zoe's civillian clothes, actually).

3. Astrocat

His transformation is truly cosmic: the stars all over the suit and the wings! And purple hair, even we see just a bit of them.

2. Scarabella

The 60s style is cool, I don't make rules. Upper spots on her mask and lower spots on her headband sometimes are too close to each other and create a bit confusing view, but that’s just a nitpick. I like high boots, polka-dot pattern except with big rare spots, yo-yo in the front for belt imitation. She. Looks. Incredible.

1. We haven't seen this episode yet and don’t know the official name of the transformation, so S4 ep.26 Strike Back spoilers, just in case.

I was confused by the puffy sleeves at first, but the longer I look the more cooler I find it. The glowing spots, twin tails, nice use of white and light blue, black elbow length "gloves" work well here. We haven't seen the rest of the suit in the same quality or detail up close, and maybe it's just novelty effect, but I already like this unification.

Top Five Best Miraculous Hero Designs

For the purpose of this list, different transformations ARE gonna count as separate designs, including power-ups and unions. Because this is specifically about heroes, Gabriel and Nathalie won’t be on here.

5.  Ryuko

The Dragon Miraculous has one of the more complicated designs, especially with the tail wrapping around the emblem and the ear things. The red, gold, and black color scheme looks amazing just in general. I especially love the flares of gold and black at the edges of Ryuko’s mask!

4. Astrocat

This is specifically for when his helmet’s off or see-through, but those bat wings are too cool to leave off this list. Those glowing lines give it a futuristic vibe, and I love the pawprint on the chest and the glowy light where his bell normally is. That bell is Very Important.

3. Purple Tigress

You know, I wouldn’t have thought that her design would be one of the best if I’d just heard about it, but she really pulls it off! That red-purple shade isn’t normally one that I’d consider all that appealing, but with the way her hair ties into it, the gold-lined black stripes, and the off-grey on her suit, it really works! Heck, even her black lipstick helps to pull the look together! 

This is easily the design I’m most impressed with, as it’s playing on hard mode, putting together colors that don’t grab the viewer as naturally as some other color combinations do, and making them work. However, I’m judging based on how good I think the design looks overall, so there are a couple above it.

2. Ladybee

Red, gold, and black are a fantastic combination. I especially love her hairdo, how she has a ponytail with red and gold intertwined with it. And her sleeves! The black with gold striping looks really, really good. Appreciate how the black dots on her outfit are gold-lined as well. And her mask! The gold on bottom with the black stripes, and the red with black dots on top… it’s all so, so good.

1. Dragon Bug

It was a hard fight between this one and Ladybee, and I’m still not sure whether I made the right call. I think that the split red/black design here looks a little busy.

BUT DAMMIT I LOVE THE EAR THINGS THEY LOOKS SO EPIC.
