Reasons why @mframe and I shouldn’t be left unsupervised on Friday afternoons at work when neither of us want to actually work.  We start joking around about the moral alignment chart and decide to classify our Tumblr Squad.

(Just to be clear, we don’t actually think anyone listed here is evil.  More just like more likely to wade into arguments or tease people with stuff they know will elicit screaming.  ;-)  It’s all in good fun, out of love and admiration, I swear.)

1. Tell us about your WIP!

My latest WIP is a new Skyeward AU that is all @airaze-blog‘s fault.  One day, a few months, we were chatting and he threw out the idea of a Rival Cooks AU and well…..I ran with it. I basically outlined a multichapter fic and found myself completely in love with the idea.  I copied down all the notes and have been staring at it for awhile.  I finally sat down and decided it was time to write it recently. I’m slowly fleshing out more of the story, different events, characters, and plot.  It will probably take me another couple-few months to complete it.  But I’m really enjoying what’s developing so far.

3. What is your favorite/least favorite part about writing?

The obvious answer is that I love it when things are going and I hate it when I’m stuck.

But more specifically, what I love about the product (rather than the process) is making people yell.  Whether it’s shrieking about how cute something is or how they want to cry, I love the yelling.  Please come scream at me.  Tell me all the things.  

My least favorite part is when I just can’t get a scene to work right.  Sometimes I’ll fight and fight with it and know it’s not hitting what I want it to be, and sometimes I just can’t fix it and have to leave it as it is.  9. Favorite/least favorite tropes?

GAH I am SO WEAK for Soulmate AU, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, and Bed Sharing.   Like, soooooo much. Those three tropes will suck me in every time. BED SHARING, PEOPLE.  It’s important.

The stuff I don’t like…..infantilization.  I don’t know if that’s a trope, but it’s probably my biggest complaint.  When characters are reduced and simplified to where they don’t match the original source material any more.  Ward is a very common victim of this and probably the one I’m most bothered by.  I also really struggle with pregnancy and baby/kid stories that aren’t researched and are incorrect.  This is probably because I’m so very steeped in that study and obviously knowledgeable of it, so I can pick out inaccuracies almost immediately.

SSS - Skye bench presses Kara, much to her loud objections. Go.

Her very loud, expletive filled objections.  Skye had never heard so many curse words, in so many languages, at such a volume ever in her life. She stopped counting at seven languages, but Ward told her later on there were at least 18, though possibly more because there were a few words even he didn’t recognize.  (Fitzsimmons chimed in that it was Klingon. So,19 total.)

But come on, what was she supposed to do?  Hunter kept commenting that her bench press skills were only so impressive, since she was just using a rigid bar. Where was the challenge?  In how many real life situations did she make that particular motion with that type of apparatus? Pretty much never. It would be a lot more impressive if she could do that with a building or a squirming person.  And well, Skye doesn’t know when to stop, so she took it as an insult to her honor and argued back that she could easily do that with any person in the base.  

Poor Kara was merely a victim.  She just happened to be the first one in their line of sight, so Skye walked over, grabbed her, and started lifting. Hence, the insane freakout.

Once Skye put her down, Kara screamed a little more, punched her friend in the arm (hurting her fist and making Skye wince a little) and demanding to know just what that was all about.  The explanation, from an obviously sheepish Skye and Hunter, was not received well.  And that’s how Kara ended up getting breakfast in bed for an entire month.

Team Bus (Plus Kara, Bobbi and Hunter) in a post-apocalyptic setting. Headcanons?

Oh this is a fun idea!  Okay, so….

To the surprise of literally no one, Ward is the prepared one.  He has bug out bags and storage lockers with weapons and cash and other tradeable assets.  

Coulson wants to unite all the survivors.  Strength in numbers and all that.  It doesn’t exactly go as he planned.

They find Fitzsimmons in a basement.  Fitz got the CB network going and was in communication with people in other cities, collecting information on what was going on in other places.  Simmons is cataloging everything - maps, numbers, etc.  They probably have the most holisitic idea of what is going on across the country.

Freaking Hunter is the whiner and the wisecracker, but surprisingly handy with a shotgun.

May just wants to be left alone, but she’s dragged along with Coulson and ends up heading this crew of misfits and teaching them how to protect themselves.

Skye somehow got her hands on a van and has been roaming around, both gathering intel to relay back to Fitzsimmons and trying to help the people she comes across.  She mostly just does what she wants and refuses to answer to anyone.

Ward, again predictably, hates this.  He doesn’t even really like this free spirited girl, to whom Fitzsimmons introduced him, but it grates at him that she’s out there, in dangerous areas without any backup - either her own skills or another person.  So he starts tagging along with her.

Every time she stops to help someone, he criticizes her and they fight about if she should do it or not.  Usually, she wins.  And when Ward gets a better look at the people she’s helping (most often children who have ended up on their own), he calms down a lot.  

They become a good team.

There are a few times, when his senses are positively twitching and he refuses to let her stop and get out. She gets so mad at him, until that one memorable time where she was alone, saw the situation wasone he’d warned her about, got out anyway and ended up hurt. She listened after that.

And once he stopped going out of his mind with worry and anger, he finally admitted to himself (and her) that maybe he actually likes her a lot more than he’d originally thought.

Okay stopping myself before I just basically re-cap Season 1

Kara is really good with a sword.  It wasn’t a skill she had before, but she does now.  (Harder than you’d think to find bullets nowadays.)

Bobbi is in another city (well, former one) trying to organize people and resources.  She’s reporting back to Coulson. 

There’s basically a power vacuum since society essentially collapsed.  And when you have power vacuums, you have people with less than the best intentions stepping in to fill the vacuum and seize power.  There are a couple people who have amassed some followers, mostly through fear and intimidation. 

Our fair Team BUS & Friends is Not Having That™.  Hence why Coulson is organizing and assessing and preparing.  He’s not exactly going to stage a coup, but mostly, just get rid of the bad guys, and hopefully make things a little better for everyone.

I think that’sas much as I can do without sketching out a whole plot line, and I already haveenough of those. Someone harass meabout the Rival Chefs AU some time. Someone else pile on to this!

Level 2s share less. Level 1 is the highest level of over sharing you can do.

@radison - what is my blasphemy? WHAT IS YOUR BLASPHEMY?!?!?!?! Hot fudge most definitely DOES belong in a milkshake!!!!  It doesn’t have to be every milkshake, but it is a remarkable and worthy addition to the list of best milkshake flavors.  In the top 5 probably.

I had to double check that this came from you, @radison​, and not James. ;-)  Eating a real meal at that moment wasn’t possible, because I was on a bus, heading home.  So Oreo truffles or hunger were my only options.  I went with one truffle and now I’m eating real food.  Thanks, Dad.  ;-)

I like that I can almost always find an opposite perspective.  I can see things from multiple points of view and it helps me understand people a lot more.
