Cassandra had a long day before her in the recording studio. Plus, they were still performing shows each weekend that she needed to make sure she got right. Where they girls had done a good job in their performance, Apollo pushed them to a newer level, and while Cassandra met his outlandish expectations, it only came after a lot of work. 

Caffeine was the only chance to get her through the day. So, standing behind the person in the line at The Flower Mill, she noticed that the person just realized they didn’t have their card on them. As the other started to fret, Cassandra simply leaned around them, tapping her card to make payment. She waited for the confirmation to show up on the screen before she glanced back up at them.

A little help?

So, there’s this person in my life. She’s pretty amazing. She’s my best friend, I guess. But here’s the thing, she needs help. She looks to me because, well let’s just say I’ve had some experience in the “pain field.” But I’ve never experienced what she’s going through.

Her parents are divorced. Can’t relate.

Her twin sister is never home. Can’t relate seeing as how my siblings are both moved out and married with kid(s).

Her step-dad is abusive. Guess I can kinda relate, seeing as how my dad was abusive, but he never was to me. Plus I was two when he “left.” I don’t exactly remember him. 

I’m always there for her, but I can’t fix her family issues.

Here’s the real problem though. She self-harms. I’ve tried so many things to make her stop. EX: When I found out, I was enraged. I told her that she wasn’t going to hurt alone. (You see, I’m extremely loyal. It’s to the point where it can be unhealthy.) So I told her that every time I saw a new cut on her arm, I would make one to match it. Well, that didn’t last real long. I stopped because I hated it. Also, it was hurting the people around me. They didn’t know why I was doing what I was doing. Now my parents never knew, just my peers. But when they found out, I could see the pain in their eyes, They didn’t want to see me hurt just as much as I didn’t want to see my best friend hurt. So I stopped. But I didn’t stop trying to help her. 

The thing is, she only hears what she wants to hear though. She only listens when it benefits her. So if she doesn’t like what I’m telling her, she’ll practically tune me out. She told me that she’d stop. 

She didn’t. It’s quite obvious. I live where it gets really hot in the summer months. You know something is wrong when a person is wearing a sweatshirt in 90 degree weather. 

I just can’t help her. And I want to. I’ve felt unwanted, unloved, uncared for. I don’t want her to ever believe any of those things, yet she does. What do I do?
