The same people who go on about wanting f1 rivalries back are the same ones who have a meltdown and take it so personally when drivers make jokes about other drivers or even make a remotely similar action or pose to another driver sooooo lol

I think people have genuinely no idea what a rivalry even is though. It’s not just drivers taking shots at each other in Instagram stories. The great rivalries - senna/Prost, Hunt/Lauda, etc., were about racing. And yes it was personal but these battles started about racing and played out in RACES.

That doesn’t happen anymore, partly because everything’s a penalty, partly because the cars are so big you can’t be wheel to wheel for more than two corners, and partly because the gaps between teams is such that you’re rarely getting the same two drivers on equal footing race after race over a season, never mind multiple seasons.

Verstappen/Hamilton was the last rivalry, and it lasted one year and it absolutely blighted the sport and still does.

The closest on the grid to an actual rivalry atp is actually the battle of the baguettes. A racing issue that shows up in races.

People are too soft for rivalries but also their idea of a rivalry is just grown men being petty bitches with nothing to back it up. These rivalries they want is just them wanting the drivers to be as bitchy as they are. Which is unrealistic when they have to spend most of the year with each other. And rivalries aren’t profitable. Teams actively try to avoid rivalries between teammates because it’s not good for business. They also don’t want their driver known as a total asshole, or crash prone.

Idk this was such a random stream of consciousness but I just think the rivalry thing is brought up by people who want drivers to be as immature as they are and probably get their idea of what a rivalry is from Tana Mongeau and Alissa Violet.

HEARTBREAK AND HEALINGS / LN4 -part 1

PLOT: Bestfriends to lovers.

Warnings: little bit of angst and sadness at the start also remembering the sochi gp.

Alissa expected everything: hurricanes, tsunamis, alien attacks, the end of the world and anything else but not the message she'd received from Lando.

At least, not in such a short time.

I need you, please.

The brunette replayed that message over and over again, while doing her daily chores around her apartment, while she went grocery shopping and couldn't get rid of it even while working.

The Brit's green eyes roamed her memories.

It had been exactly three months and fourteen days since the two had exchanged their last words accompanied by sad and disguised smiles.

Lando needed to focus on his professional career, he was in the midst of his best season in Formula 1 and was the most outstanding driver after Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Alissa's life was also busy, the girl was split between college subjects, serving annoying customers at the store where she worked, keeping her apartment clean and organized and managing to have a healthy and social life. And yet, the girl always made time to enjoy her best friend's company when he was at home, away from steering wheels and spotlights.

Telling Lando about her feelings had been a difficult choice to make, knowing that those three little words could change their entire friendship. But after some conversations with Max and Ria who said that everything would work out since her feelings and Lando's were reciprocal, the girl thought that was the right decision to make.

And so the three of them couldn't be more wrong.

Lando scratched the back of his neck, stuttering as he started to respond to everything Alissa had dumped on him. Of course it was reciprocal. Lando wanted to give her all the love he could, wanted to take her with him to every country he went to, and spend every day of his life with the girl.

But he couldn't.

He knew Alissa wasn't going to give up on her job and college to always be by his side wherever he went. Lando knew that at some point distance would get in between their happiness and that would end up in two broken hearts.

So, for him, the right decision was to tell the girl that unfortunately he didn't feel the same way. To say that she deserved to find some guy who would love her the way she deserved. A guy that could take her to dinner on a Friday, take her shopping on Saturdays and on Sundays after lunch he could lie next to her in the sofa and watch all the movies they could before going to bed, fall asleep in each other's arms.

Just like keeping soft tyres amidst heavy rain at the Sochi circuit, in Russia, that was the worst decision he could take.

And it was at the exact moment when he stepped out of the car that Lando realized how lost he was. That even through his ups and downs, Alissa was always there for him. Regardless of what she was doing, she would always drop everything to help him. And if with any luck she was still there, he knew he would do anything to fix that.

His heart.

Her heart.

Them.

So much to take in. A skating tour in Canada again... really, any skating event at all. Meagan landed on her feet, with Dylan, because figure skating is a small, awkward world. Kaitlyn and Andrew teaming back up. Kurt and Elvis, together again. Alissa Czisny, the odd woman out until you remember she lives with Kurt. Jeff Buttle, after taking time to have hip surgery, back on the tour. Kaetlyn O the least surprising note. And in the autumn instead if spring, so certainly no competitive skaters, but still 12 stops on the tour like usual, and filming in Hamilton.

540 Local Elected Officials From All 50 States Urge Prez Trump to Import More Refugees to U.S.

Joe Biden has promised to make this happen, including taking in foreigners from terrorist hotspots around the world. In fact, Joe Biden was one of the original architects of the fraud-ridden refugee program that has destroyed neighborhoods across the U.S.

I told you here that the refugee industry was working on a letter to the President urging him to get the refugee flow into America moving again.

Yesterday they sent the letter with 540 signatories.

Says Amnesty International:

By signing this letter, these elected officials have joined together to voice their commitment to welcoming refugees in their communities and reviving the United States’ legacy as a leader in refugee resettlement.

I notice something missing from the letter. It avoids giving the President a number, but the industry has made it very clear!

They want 95,000 refugees to begin arriving on October first.

The President could make a decision this month on how many refugees might be invited to live in the US in FY2021. He could also legally set the ceiling at zero.

All of my posts on the topic are tagged FY2021.

Here are the signatories from yesterday.  The list is handy for identifying those local elected officials who are changing America by changing the people.

I don’t know why the organizers think that these open borders advocates will hold any sway with the President, but they sure make it handy for you to identify the other side where you live. Target them for retirement when they come up for re-election!
