Thank you for asking about my children... They are the main characters from a story I am writing very very slowly. You can find a more extensive and not very well written summary here, and I ramble about them in my “amy writes” tag a lot, but to make it very short: Alison is an uber-famous pop star who got slowly famous as a late teen and has sort of adjusted to her situation, dealing with the whole fame-thing quite well externally, however, over the years, she has lost more and more of her agency and sense of self to constantly putting on a persona that matches what the people want to see from her. Chris is the lead singer of a rock band that rose to sudden fame after a single from their 3rd album got a surprising amount of radio play, and he is absolutely not dealing well with it, feeling ripped from the life he had (very non-luxurious) and being not equipped to protect his privacy from the sudden interest by the press because he is a bit too honest for his own good. His affinity for various drugs isn’t helping his case. I think it’s pretty clear that they are more or less based on celebrities I find fascinating, those being Taylor and Kurt respectively, but over the course of me writing and developing them, they have started to differ from the people who inspired them more and more. A big reason why I started developing these characters was that I found myself thinking about certain celebrities a lot, to an extent that I personally wasn’t comfortable with because a) I don’t know these people and b) a lot of stuff just isn’t my business. Example: “Taylor Swift is a closeted queer woman” is a super interesting concept and offers a new perspective on her persona and all, but it’s a situation that I do not wish upon anybody and I also don’t want to think about a stranger’s sexuality too much. Alison and Chris are fictional characters, as much as they are inspired by real people, and because I know them and nothing that I write or think about them implies that real people have suffered they allow me to put all my thoughts about fame and how it potentially affects people somewhere that feels healthy. Sorry, half of this is not really what you asked and I wish I could give a short and normal answer for once hgdbsa but idk when I wrote the short summary it felt like I couldn’t just...  leave it at that and had to add a disclaimer because the similarities to people I blog about are obviously there and I don’t want people to think that it’s just thinly veiled real people fiction (which would be weird given the constellation of celebrities who served as inspiration. I don’t think they’d get along.) because it’s kind of the opposite of that. Trying to get away from projecting all my musings about fame on strangers and instead projecting them onto fictional people.

Pure Feeling Playlist

Okay, so I had someone on twitter express interest in the songs I have for my playlist for Pure Feeling and figured, yeah, I could share it. I don’t have a spotify (I don’t like the interface plus the music selection is way too limited for my taste) and the playlist itself is on Youtube Music. It’s also private because I don’t really want random people seeing it or other people messing with it if I unlocked it, so I’ll just type up all the songs here with links that way y’all can scroll through and listen to what you want.

I understand there’s probably an easier and faster way to do this probably, but hey, with the quarantine I clearly have some extra time on my hands so why not?

Though, couple of warnings:

1. It’s LOOOOOOONG (it’s 300+ songs in total) (don’t worry I’m gonna put this under a cut)

2. Some of the songs aren’t going to make much sense in terms of the AU. This is for two reasons: a) Some of the songs allude to events/characters that haven’t shown up in the story yet (there’s a LOT of songs regarding Mara’s father) and b) some of them are just general songs that I use to get a basis of emotion/vibe when writing particular types of scenes.

3. My music tastes are all over the place (and this doesn’t even include some of the other genres I listen to just because it doesn’t fit this AU lol)

NAME A RANDOM ROLEPLAY THAT STICKS OUT IN YOUR MEMORY — me n my friend ellie made this really cool group the summer before we left for uni which was loosely based on a concept mentioned mayb once in the divergent series, but it gave us loads of freedom to make it our own thing. it was called the fringe n it was like..... this dystopian society where people with different genes were cut off from the rest of society n lived in overrun slum cities where different groups had like, a monopoly over weapons, produce, etc.... my character jack was the leader of this lost-boy-esque tribe called the wolf pack who were hunters n used to run across the rooftops wearing the skins of animals they’d killed and engage in tribal rituals with sacrifices to the gods n shit. sounds lame but everyone there was so invested in their character arcs that it was a shame to see it go. but ! it kind of reached its end point so we blew it up w nukes n they all died. tragic.
