Patchouli Knowledge: Are those… mushrooms on that plate? Or is it just me?

Alice Margatroid: [Giggles faintly.] Because you’re reading about mushrooms yourself, no? By the way, this reminds me of the perfect setup for a picnic under the tree on a sunny day.

Patchouli Knowledge: We didn’t quite bring the materials for a picnic, however, did we? Also, I thought we were looking for mushrooms for my next spell.

Alice Margatroid: Shanghai has the mushrooms now, as you can see here. Maybe we can even go looking and picking for flowers… though we might run into those poisonous ones from that girl, Medicine. I should meet up with her. Oh, I might just introduce you to her!

Patchouli Knowledge: No need. Flowers might make me sneeze, all the more are poisonous lilies more dangerous.

Alice Margatroid: Oh, but you don’t have quite the sneezy condition, now do you? Just asthma… I don’t think I’ve imagined you in flowers before, Patchouli.

Patchouli Knowledge: Well… I believe flowers would probably suit you better, Alice.

Alice Margatroid: [Blushes slightly.] Oh, please. But thank you, Patchouli. Perhaps flowers do go well with dresses… bridal dresses… Ah, maybe I could make and stitch some dresses with flowery designs.

Patchouli Knowledge: [Glances up.] It truly quite a sunny day… Hopefully my hair and skin don’t act up under it, though. This tree shade is really convenient for me.

Alice Margatroid: You may even nap under it, if you’d wish to rest… Shanghai and I can watch over and can take care of your condition.

Patchouli Knowledge: [Blushes sheepishly.] That’s comforting… But you can rest here, too, Alice. Or we’ll rest together. We can even read together under this rather summery weather, undisturbed.

Alice Margatroid: Or we could walk after a short while through this field of the woods… Nevertheless, Shanghai will wake you or us up if it’s due time to return home.

Patchouli Knowledge: She’ll possibly fall asleep as well, though, even as a doll. You might just hug her close to you while in slumber.

Alice Margatroid: [Pouts.] Is there a problem if I do? But I am not too childish at all. Shanghai’s not my only doll, if you’re so concerned.

How I feel about this character

LISTEN i've been in the fandom for a *very* long time. My opinion of Marisa has changed in many ways - I think the consistent opinion is that she's awesome as fuck, man.

There's also the fact that *because* she's been such an integral part of the series almost ever since the beginning, it's difficult to summarize the ways she has grown and that the world has grown around her as well in a way.

Gameplay wise I don't like her that much. But she still is one of my very faves amongst the many characters of touhou.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

This one kinda stumped me. I don't really ship her romantically in any traditional sense tbh. I guess I've been known to enjoy the magician trio (marisa/alice/patchouli) but DEFINITELY not in a fanon way.

It's more like... mariali is very farcille-coded to me, except that not only is marisa the Weirdgirl TM, she's also got a very bold personality, which adds to the dynamic. Maripatchy is like... you know when you're more of a theoretical scientist and then your bold and bright field scientist turns out to be quite admirable in her own ways and you enjoy brainstorming together and staying up late discussing stuff and bantering and - oh this is very domestic isn't it. yeah that's the vibe.

Alipatchy is WONDERFUL they're like, two magician besties who enjoy each other's quiet and both enjoy Marisa's more adventurous side. And in turn Marisa's bold character brings out certain traits in them that i really like and are underrepresented.

But it really is more of a qpr thing than a romantic polycule.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Marisa and Reimu are the sort of childhood friends and forever colleagues that pull each other like Pluto and Charon. They quite literally are the crows-playing-with-wolves dynamic (Reimu is foxcoded, Marisa crowcoded, that's a thing). It's the "i would destroy the world if something happened to you but in the meantime we have a normal daily friendship" vibes for me. It's the being the only family they have. It's the fact that the narrative is so closely tied to them.

Sometimes I like to throw Yukari into the mix because I think she, too, would have a certain fondness for Marisa in many ways. She would show the benevolent side she did in FS, maybe.

My unpopular opinion about this character

...Depending on the scope of the fandom you look at, trans marisa can be a niche opinion.

Sometimes people downplay her unhinged side I think. Or rather, I've seen a lot of "tomboy brazen witch" and not enough of "hardworking curious and whimsical" you know?

Like, yes, she can steal books from patchouli, but have we forgotten her drive to examine enoko's trap or her enjoyment of the black market? Her challenge to momoyo? She's very determined.

And her stars taste like sugar!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Ehhhhh I'm actually pretty alright with things as they stand? I mean, it would've been cool if one of Satori's recollections showed spells from Mima (her mentor) because I'm *sure* one of those should have in-universe been one of the strongest skills she saw - but I understand the many complexities about pc98 and I mean they didn't even *have* spellcards so it likely would not work... so I'm not very hung up on that, or anything related.

WISHES: In general, while I’d prefer my gift to be a fanfic, I’d also be fine with fanart. My favourite ship is ReiSana, so I’d love anything for that, and I also like KanaSuwa a lot too, along with MariAli and JunHeca. Additionally, I love Ran, Byakuren and SA’s entire cast, so anything on those characters would be great too.

PET PEEVES: No incest and nothing overly angst based. Also, despite this being a Christmas thing, I’d prefer for the work itself to not be Christmas themed.

ABILITIES: The only thing I can do is writing unfortunately, but I’ll try to make whatever I do a decent length. I’m willing to do pretty much anything within the limits stated below.

WON’T DO: No incest again, and no ReiMari or AliPatchy. Additionally, my knowledge of PC-98, UFO and TD characters is limited, so I’d prefer nothing involving those characters except Byakuren or Kyouko.

VOLUNTARY SANTA: If it’s a writing gift and I can finish my first in good time, I don’t see why not.
