Introduction to Demonology
Welp, I thought I was done but I wrote more fanfiction, and it's completely unhinged Rivamika incubus porn. It's explicit and definitely weirder than I usually write, don't read if you're a minor, etc. Thanks to the RM Discord for encouraging my degenerate ass. Enjoy!
You can read it on AO3 as well!
In the weeks and months after Eren’s death, Mikasa grew to dread the setting sun, to view the encroaching darkness outside as a mirror of the darkness inside her mind. Without him, without answers to the questions she’d been too afraid to ask, she felt adrift, like a dead leaf tossed around in the currents of life, unable to control her direction. Her body seemed to accept this state wholeheartedly, denying her the comforts of sleep more often than not. Most nights she would lie awake, replaying the last moments of Eren’s life, trying to determine whether she could have done anything to stop his thread from being cut short. Sometimes she would be able to gain a few minutes or hours of light rest, though that came with the risk of now-familiar nightmares of blood and steel.
She made the mistake of letting slip her issues to friends and acquaintances and was bombarded with potential solutions, and in her desperation she tried them all: warm milk, deep breathing, bitter-tasting herbal tinctures, every pill and powder and potion available at the pharmacy. None of these remedies could stop her wandering thoughts or calm her body enough to give her the relief she so desperately needed from her physical and mental weariness.
One night, she lay in the dark, having dutifully choked down some valerian root tea whose taste of sharp herbs and dirt came through even after adding copious amounts of cream and sugar, cursing herself for her ability to withstand even the strongest sedatives.
“I would do anything to get some sleep,” she murmured to no one.
Anything? a ghostly voice responded.
Mikasa sat upright, adrenaline animating her body, more awake and alert than before. She definitely wouldn’t sleep at this rate. “Hello? Is someone there?”
I’m here, the voice said. She could not divine the source of the low, silky tone; intensely masculine but with an amused bent, as though the speaker were smirking at her.
Not here here, it clarified, as though it could sense her confusion. I’m not some intruder, but I can show myself if you want to speak face to face.
“Show yourself,” Mikasa demanded, her voice displaying more resolve than she felt.
The darkness in the room shimmered, moonlight and shadow undulating until they coalesced into the form of a man floating above her bed as though he sat in an invisible chair, his powerful limbs splayed in a posture of confident nonchalance. He wore a black suit and white shirt, open at the collar to reveal his collarbone and a hint of muscular chest, and held a delicate china teacup in one hand, taking occasional sips from it. But what Mikasa noticed most was his face: a strong, masculine jaw, a sharp slash of a noise, dark hair hanging over eyes that glowed an otherworldly silver, and a pair of curved, black horns atop his head.
“What are you?” she wondered in an awed whisper.
“Oh, don’t look so shocked. You’ve never seen a demon before?” the man said. Mikasa shook her head. “Then I suppose it’s your lucky day to be visited by a high prince of Hell.”
“I— I don’t understand.” She shook her head and rubbed her eyes, but the man — the demon — still floated above her bed with such ease that she felt as though she was the one out of place, not him.
The demon let out an exasperated sigh. “You want to sleep, I can help you sleep. In exchange, you help me.”
“Help you do what?”
“Are you just going to repeat everything I say?” he griped. He drained the last of his tea and waved the cup away, making it waver and vanish, the inverse of his entrance into her room.
“Well, excuse me for not knowing how to interact with a demon who shows up in my bedroom in the middle of the night,” Mikasa fired back, crossing her arms and glaring up at him.
Her annoyance piqued the demon’s interest; his lips curved into a small smile. “My name is Levi. I’m an incubus, which means I get my life energy through sex. The exchange is simple: you let me fuck you, and I’ll make you come so hard you’ll sleep like the dead.”
Mikasa frowned, holding his gaze with skepticism bordering on anger at his audaciously blunt offer. “Sounds like you’re trying to trick me into letting you drain the life out of me.”
“Tch. Not the best metaphor, then. Sleep like a baby? I just didn’t want to make you think of babies when I’m offering you as many screaming, gushing orgasms as your body can handle.” He shrugged as the filthy words rolled off his tongue, as unconcerned with his speech as Mikasa was scandalized by it.
“I don’t know. I mean… Eren…” she mumbled. Her gaze dropped to her hands, which lay clenched in her lap. My hands were meant for him , she thought. My touch, my body… they were supposed to be his.
“No, they weren’t,” Levi said flatly. “Where the hell did you get those ideas?”
Mikasa blanched. “You can hear my thoughts?!”
“Yeah, and they’re a huge fucking bummer. I get that you had a thing for Eren, but let me assure you, he is exactly where he deserves to be. Eternity isn’t long enough for that piece of shit.” He snorted, a soft sound of contempt punctuating his words. “I can make you feel very different. Maybe some things you’ve never felt before. I’ll show you if you want.”
“So you want to fuck me so you can show me what it’d be like if you fucked me?” She cocked one eyebrow at him.
“No, I mean literally show you.” She nodded and he reached out to her, two fingers extended like he was blessing her, and pressed them to her forehead for a moment. Images flooded her mind faster than she could process them: her throaty cries, his rasped moans and words of praise, skin slapping against skin, the squeak of her bed, the musk of sweat and sex.
Cold prickles of awareness broke out on Mikasa’s skin, goosebumps sprouting where she imagined he would touch her, contrasting with the sudden warmth and wetness surging between her thighs.
Levi watched as the familiar blush of arousal spread across her cheeks, coloring her gloomy countenance into something more lush and lively. “Don’t throw your life away for a dead man. Don’t give up one of the few things that makes life worth living.”
She was silent, still unsure, so he added, “Have you ever considered why the pleasures of the flesh are Hell’s domain and not Heaven’s? Because they’re too good. It would be so much harder to keep the weak little humans in line if they realized that their limited time on earth was much better spent fucking than praying.”
Mikasa’s breaths came heavily, her body’s restlessness melting into arousal. “Look, I want to say yes, but I just don’t understand what the downside is supposed to be. There’s no way I just get fucked and then go to sleep. There’s got to be a catch. And what if I can’t sleep tomorrow?”
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the people who are out there speaking with great authority about Hell and demons are the ones who are trying to claim your souls in the name of Heaven. They don’t exactly have an incentive to tell the truth,” Levi said. “Sleeping with a demon creates a bond, but I only feed from you as often as you want me to, and I never take more than I need. If anything, I’m at your service. And your cervix.” His lips quirked into a brief smile; she grimaced and shook her head at his approximation of a joke.
“And this is really going to work? I’ll be able to sleep?” she asked nervously, grasping for more reasons to refuse him but finding none.
“You’ve never jerked off so many times you fell asleep? Or whatever the girl equivalent of jerking off is?”
She shook her head. “I haven’t even thought about touching myself since Eren.”
“But you’re thinking about it now,” he said, his voice deepening to a rumble, like the ominous yet strangely comforting sound of distant thunder.
“It’s kinda your job as a sex demon to turn me on, isn’t it?” she asked. The acknowledgement of her arousal combined with the knowledge that he could hear her inner thoughts as though she was speaking them made her bold; there was nothing to hide from him.
“Not all of us work that way, but it’s better for me when the other person enjoys it. Their energy tastes so much better.” Levi swallowed thickly, his own arousal growing along with Mikasa’s. There was power in her beneath the hardened sedimentary layers of her pain and grief, the hint of it already beginning to intoxicate him, and that power would only grow stronger once he unlocked the secrets of her body one by one.
“If you still have doubts, maybe this can convince you,” he said, opening his mouth and sticking out his tongue, flexing it like he was lapping at her now-slick pussy and not the air in front of him. Mikasa watched his tongue grow in length so slowly she thought she imagined it, until it thickened and grew a fork at the end, resulting in two prehensile shoots of muscle that undulated independently of each other.
Her mouth opened unconsciously, her breaths coming out in long, desirous pants. “I want that on my clit.”
“Not yet,” he said. “There’s a process. Just let me do my thing and I give you my word, I’ll blow your mind so many times you’ll forget your own name.”
She sighed, sadness tingeing her excitement. “I think I need that.”
Levi floated downwards, settling on top of Mikasa, his hands planted on either side of her shoulders, his weight pinning her to the bed. She shifted her hips beneath him, pushing her nightgown up her thighs as she sought out his bulge. She worried about staining his expensive-looking suit with her wetness, but she found herself sliding against soft, smooth skin that was diamond-hard when she pushed against it.
“Where did your clothes go?” she asked, trying to figure out when she stopped gripping the shoulders of his sportcoat and started gripping the firm, defined musculature of his shoulders.
“To Hell,” he replied with a smirk. “I can’t make your clothes disappear, though.” He reached down and yanked her nightgown over her head, leaving her naked beneath him. His skin was comfortingly warm against hers, as though he were a mortal man and not a demon, and she found herself completely unashamed of her nudity. She felt so bashful even thinking about taking her clothes off in front of Eren, and—
“No more Eren,” Levi interrupted her train of thought, and bent his head to kiss her.
Mikasa didn’t know what she was expecting from a demon’s kiss, but the lush press of his lips was not it. He kissed her like he was drinking her in, sucking at her lips and twining his tongue — now returned to its normal size — with hers. He stoked her arousal like a precious flame, letting her burn brightly but not out of control. He cupped her face in his hands as he kissed her, stroking her with his thumbs and marveling at the softness of her skin.
“You smell like sunlight and strawberries,” he murmured against her lips, following his words with a soft bite.
She pulled away from him, looking at him with amusement. “I didn’t know you were so sentimental.”
“Shut up. I basically get drunk when I feed. Don’t mind the bullshit I say,” he grumbled.
“Don’t want to admit you want me really fucking badly?” she countered.
“Not as badly as you want me,” he replied, reaching between their bodies to grip his cock and rub its length up and down her spread pussy, waiting for her expression to register exactly how much length he had. His eyes flashed silver with excitement when her kiss-swollen lips formed a perfect surprised O.
“Can you make your cock change size like your tongue?” she asked, canting her hips so she could rub her soaked folds up and down his erection, coating them with her moisture.
“Uh huh,” he sighed. He wasn’t even inside her and he was already feeling feverish and frenzied. His lips stretched into a rictus grin and he kissed her to hide his excitement from her; he needed to warm her up before he could give her everything he had, and he didn’t want to scare her off with his intensity.
Once Levi managed to calm himself, he strayed from her lips, pressing hot, open-mouthed, desperate kisses along her neck, shoulders, and collarbone, finding that she liked a hint of teeth at her pulse point, but she cried out and squirmed beneath him when he sucked hard at the juncture of her shoulder and neck. He could actually feel her dripping on his cock while she moaned. Cradling her close with one hand, he let the other wander, tracing his fingertips over the lines of her body, the firmness of muscle and bone contrasting with the soft pliability of her breasts. He focused his efforts there, alternating between soft caresses and pinches, and the sting of his fingernails tracing around her areola and over her nipple. When he finally grasped her breast, she shrieked and bucked beneath him, her back arching as though he had branded her.
“More!” she demanded, her eyes shut tight so as to focus on the intense sensations. He obliged her, kissing her deeply and grabbing her breasts with both hands, massaging them roughly, pinching and pulling at her nipples while she devoured his tongue and soaked his cock. After a little while he wrenched himself away from her mouth and attacked her sensitive, swollen nipples, mindlessly sucking and biting at them, snuffling like an animal. Mikasa’s fingers grasped at his hair, tangling her fingers in it and occasionally pulling when pain won out over pleasure. She soon found he liked the pulling, and that he’d work her even harder when she threaded her fingers through his dark hair and yanked with all her might. When he looked up at her, his pupils were blown wide, a thin silver rim surrounding inky blackness.
“Don’t you ever fucking stop,” she admonished him after a few moments of staring.
He scoffed at her. “I haven’t even gotten started.” Before she could even comprehend what was happening, he had her legs spread and her knees touching her shoulders, his thumbs pulling her labia apart so he could kiss her pussy and swirl his lengthening tongue around her clit, surrounding and massaging it with the forked end. She trembled beneath him like he was electrocuting her, her entire body fluttering with unspeakable pleasure. Levi’s eyes rolled back in his head as her juices coated his tongue, sweeter and more powerful than even the finest wine. Within minutes she was coming, half-words and incoherent sounds spilling forth from her lips, a primitive language that Levi could understand nevertheless: Yes, more, I love this, I never want you to stop.
So he obliged her, backing off from her sensitive clit momentarily and snaking his tongue down to her entrance. Mikasa made a questioning noise, wordlessly asking him if he was going to fuck her with his tongue.
“Mm-hm,” he hummed, already excited to see how she would react to his tongue filling her pussy, its tip pressing against her g-spot and rubbing furiously. Her moans grew raspy, her throat raw and dry from overuse, but she still managed to let out a healthy wail at his internal massage, and somehow got even louder when he traced circles around her clit with his fingertip. He gave thanks to his demonic nature for allowing him to keep a superhuman pace; whereas a normal man would get tired from the repetitive motions, he drew strength from her frantic responses. This allowed him to keep going even as Mikasa’s inner muscles clenched around his tongue, denoting her second orgasm, then a third in quick succession.
The fourth came on much more slowly, but promised to be a big one when she started quaking in his arms. She was incoherent, her inner monologue completely switched off, her thoughts focused solely on Levi and the inhumanly wonderful things he was doing to her. Her nerves felt like they were frozen and on fire at the same time, heat and cold running through her in equal measure, her muscles alternately clenching and relaxing. Her skin felt cool and slick, though she could not tell if that was from her sweat or his, his saliva, or her cum. As he continued working her clit with his fingers and her g-spot with his tongue, she began to feel warm again in her chest and between her legs, shaking and keening as though possessed, then exploding and spurting cum all over Levi and herself as she screamed and sobbed through her climax.
“I’m not done with you yet, but let’s take a break,” he suggested, curling up next to her and pulling her against his solid, muscular body.
“Water!” she gasped, and he produced a glass of perfectly cold water from thin air, which she gulped down in such a frenzy that rivulets escaped from the sides of her mouth and dripped onto her breasts. Levi lapped the water from her skin and conjured another glass for her, refilling it until she was sated, capturing any errant drops with his tongue. She buried her face in the crook of his neck, her warm breath stirring his arousal, but he told himself to stay still, to let her decide when they could get back to it.
“I feel like I haven’t touched you at all,” she said after a while, lifting her head so she could bask in the shining silver of his eyes.
“Touch all you want.” He rolled over onto his back, opening himself to her. She propped herself up on one elbow and let her eyes and hands rove over him, from the softly amused, almost affectionate look on his face, down to his corded arms and thick chest, his segmented and defined abdomen, and then the flat, slightly sloping plane that led to his pubic hair and the largest, most beautiful cock she’d ever seen. It was half hard, resting against his thigh, with a streak of moisture adorning the tip.
“Is this where the term Leviathan comes from?” she asked with a grin, wrapping her fingers around its impressive girth and working up and down his length.
He returned her smile, excited by her excitement. “Uh-huh. People think it means a sea monster, but—”
“They haven’t gotten a chance to see this monster?” she interjected.
Levi snorted a laugh. “I didn’t realize my shitty jokes could be transmitted through our sex bond.”
“I guess we’re both gonna learn some new things tonight,” Mikasa replied, looking down at him with a heavy-lidded gaze and tightening her grip. He soon grew fully erect, his huge cock pointing at the ceiling, drops of precum forming and spilling over her fingers.
“I need your mouth or your cunt, something, just… more…” Levi panted, desperate for contact. “It’ll fit, I’ll make sure it doesn’t hurt.” He willed his cock to produce more precum, the massive organ becoming slick and shiny as Mikasa stroked him. She nodded, her energy returning, growing along with her enthusiasm to take his cock inside of her. Without a word she gripped him by the base, lifted herself up, and lowered herself onto him, sliding down as though she was made to fit him.
“Oh, fuuuuuck ,” she groaned, her eyes sliding shut in bliss. She stayed still, trying to get used to the sensation of being so completely filled, of having his cock igniting every nerve ending inside of her, but Levi couldn’t wait any longer. His cock began to move inside her, thickening and stretching her, rubbing her inner walls the way his tongue had done. Mikasa went off like fireworks, lapsing back into her feral, languageless state, broadcasting every sensation as sighs and gasps and yelps. Levi grasped her by the waist and thrust up into her as fast as he could, slamming his hips into hers so fast it sounded like applause.
She tipped her head back and howled at the overwhelming rush of sensation, being filled and fucked within an inch of her life. Each thrust felt like he was spanking her pussy with each impact, making her come a little, her pussy clenching around him, emitting little spurts of cum every time he retreated. In the midst of this he rolled her over, landing on top of her, still pistoning in and out of her without missing a beat. She bent her legs back before he thought to do it for her, taking him even deeper.
“Fuck, Mikasa!” Levi moaned over the sounds of her fevered howls and skin slapping skin. “I’m not gonna last much longer.”
“Behind,” she managed to say; he didn’t understand, so he searched her mind for the mental image he hoped to find: him on his knees behind her, driving into her even faster and harder than before, his tongue snaking down to tease and fuck the tight bud of her asshole, her pussy dripping with cum and saliva, soaking the sheets beneath them.
“Whatever you want, my dirty girl,” he groaned, trying not to come just from the thought of him inside her twice over. He flipped her over and replicated the mental image exactly, thickening and lengthening his cock so he could fill her up completely, bending down and doing the same with his tongue on, then in her ass. Mikasa shook and sobbed beneath him, her body wracked with an ecstasy beyond comprehension, each cell in her body singing in perfect harmony.
Levi felt his orgasm building, starting in his balls and inner thighs, coming on fast and uncontrollable, more intense than anything he’d ever experienced. Usually he’d siphon a little of his partner’s life force while coming, still able to maintain his rationality during the transfer of power. This was something else entirely, a ball of white light and energy growing inside him, threatening to engulf him once it exploded.
Please, please don’t let me kill her, he pleaded with himself as he tipped over the edge, just before his thoughts faded into utter incoherence. I need to have her again.
His orgasm overtook him, the entire world going blinding white except for himself and Mikasa, flashes of intense color flying past him. Then even she disappeared in the blinding glow and his vision went entirely white. A tiny, rational voice wondered whether he was dying, but he found himself okay with the prospect.
When he came to, he sat upright, panting as though waking from a nightmare. Mikasa lay a warm hand on his chest, rubbing it in absentminded circles.
“You’re okay,” she said softly, letting out a deep yawn. “You just fell asleep for a few minutes.”
“Oh,” he sighed. “You’re alive.”
Her smile was crooked, loopy with exhaustion. “Very much so.”
“I came so hard I was worried I killed you.” His hand sought hers, squeezing it once, unwilling to vocalize the fact that killing her suddenly seemed like the most heinous taboo when she’d been a complete stranger a couple of hours earlier.
“Well, if you did, I would’ve died the happiest I’ve ever been.” She brought their clasped hands to her lips and pressed a soft kiss to his knuckles. He pulled their hands back to him, kissing her hand in return, as if to tell her that affectionate gestures were his job, not hers.
He looked around the room, suddenly disoriented, the surroundings and this woman both familiar and unfamiliar. “Was that flower always there?” He gestured towards a small clay vase on her nightstand that held a single bright blue bloom.
Mikasa poked her head up and furrowed her brow. “It was dead before, or at least dying. I was thinking of throwing it out. Did we do that?”
“I think we did,” Levi replied, letting out a confused sigh of a laugh. He pulled the blanket over Mikasa, tucking her in as she curled up on her side in preparation for sleep, her eyes already closing. He reached over to pluck the blue flower from its vase, inspecting its unfurled petals and the soft dusting of pollen inside them. Struck by an overwhelming urge, he nestled the flower in Mikasa’s hair near her ear, pleased by the contrast of blue on black, of the flower’s delicacy and the strength of the woman whose mind and body could disarm a prince of Hell. His usual protocol was to slip back through the closest portal that would take him to his quarters, but the thought of sleeping alone — without her — made him shudder. Instead he cuddled up next to her and brushed his lips against her forehead, drunk on the combined scent of flowers and sex and this wounded woman who’d somehow ensnared him. Smiling at how fortunate he was to come across such a precious mortal, he closed his eyes and allowed himself some much-needed rest.
When Mikasa woke the next day, she was alarmed to find that the clock on her nightstand read 1:47 in the afternoon, and even more alarmed to find that she felt refreshed and awake, ready to start what was left of the day with a clear head and an elevated mood. She flopped back onto her pillow, staring at the ceiling with a bemused smile on her face. The sheets were cool and dry beneath her, a far cry from her soaked bed a few hours earlier. The vase by her bed was empty; perhaps she’d thrown out that old flower like she’d meant to, and her demon lover was just a strange, vivid dream.
She waited for Levi’s voice in her head to tell her otherwise, and was disappointed when she did not receive a response. Sighing with disappointment, she got up to shower, trying to determine a productive activity for the remaining daylight hours: maybe weeding the garden, or stopping off at the market for more eggs and milk. Undressing in the bathroom, an azure blur caught her eye in the mirror: a crushed flower, as blue as the sky, tucked behind her ear. She cast her gaze down her body, inspecting herself and finding a bruise — no, two — no, dozens of them. Fingertip-sized on her breasts, larger and deeper ones on her neck and shoulders and thighs, and even a couple of scabs in the shape of Levi’s teeth where he had bitten her.
Her fingers skated over her wounds, making her shiver and whimper at the combination of pleasure and pain that radiated throughout her body. One hand drifted between her legs, spreading her free-flowing fluids around, circling her clit and fingering her pussy in a poor imitation of Levi’s supernatural prowess, while she replayed the previous night in as much detail as she could remember.
Not once, not even in passing, did she think of Eren.
I need Levi , she thought, fucking herself with desperate intensity as she braced herself against the sink. I need to feel him again. I need his hands on me and his tongue wrapped around my clit and his cock stretching me until I feel like I could burst. I need to come on him, all over him, as much as I can handle it.
“Come back tonight,” she whispered as she chased her peak. “Please.”
About fucking time you said something , Levi’s voice echoed in her head. I was starting to think you didn’t want me back.
Mikasa laughed aloud, joy and surprise and blessed relief enveloping her, pushing her over the edge. She came, her pussy pulsing around her slick fingers, her lips crying out for her demon lover.
Levi let out a deep, rumbling moan. That’s my girl. I’ll be there at midnight. Don’t bother wearing clothes this time.
She smiled at her reflection in the mirror, her mind buzzing with anticipation, and her eyes flashed silver in the afternoon light.

Hi, new mutual, I've recently been getting more into Rivamika, and I was wondering if you had any fic recommendations, preferably angst :) I actually recently started reading your fic, Clarity, so you'll probs be seeing a comment from me soon-ish on AO3, haha. I'm really loving it thus far!
Hi! And welcome to our lovely ship! Rivamika tends to get an unfair amount of hate so we are a very supportive community and take care of our own like Levi would.
Idk about angst (I enjoy it but It's not something I actively search) but either angsty, fluffy, smutty and/or funny, I'm proud to say we have a lot of wonderful writers around us! l can personally vouch for anything by our queen chaosisbeauty23; also onigiridorkk has lovely fics, esp. Microcosmos, The Perfect Brew and 104th's Top Cadet; MoraLeeWright is like the Shakepeare of Rivamika. My fave by her is Just until the Storm is Gone, and The Song Remains the Same is one of the most original rm fics I've read. Alienheartattack has a plethora of one-shots, my fave being To You, 20 Years From Now (and To All Of Us, From 2000 Years Ago, but that's not rivamika).
If I may interest you in some ongoing fics, hrarby's For You is definitely in the angsty side. She's got a beautiful prose, too. Also angsty is Byhimawari's Languishing. Agentwarbarbie's The Shadow of the Prince is a great royalty AU that'll have you holding your breath.
The Broken Doll is a masterpiece of platonic Levi/Mikasa; last but not least, if you really wanna bawl, Beloved Mother is a heart-gutting Levi centric, non-ship fic.
Last but not least, I'm absolutely chuffed you're enjoying Clarity! You can check the tag #clarity tea house for all the meta that I posted while I was still writing, as well as extras and related stuff.
Thank you SO much for this ask! You made my day! 🥰
PS- ETA: I totally forgot one of my favourites, Surviving Peace by die-forllex!

RivaMika FanFic Rec List Part 1
Hi friends!
I decided to make this rec list because I've been consuming so much RM fic lately that I've been having a hard time keep tracking of which ones I'm recommending. So, I decided to make this for my selfish reasons lol but I figured this would be good to share since it seems we have some more incoming RM fans our way.
We're currently at 916 RM fics as of today. When I first started reading about this wonderful duo, there were only about 600 or so and it just exploded over the past years. It's so awesome to see our little ship gain some headway.
As always, feel free to add in your own recs! This is merely a beginning list. The links to the fics are attached to the title. I'll include some ratings and brief summary. See the tags below for quick info:
Tags
+ = Completed work
- = WIP
* = nsfw
The Song Remains The Same by MoraLeeWright. Rated M, * and +. What can I say about this masterpiece that hasn't been said already? This is probably the best intro to rivamika that you can ask for. Really good rival to lovers done in a realistic manner. So damn good, you'll consume it in less than three days. Recommended to anyone who is a bit iffy about this pairing and needs some convincing. The smut is beautifully done too. Fantastic slow burn.
Just Until The Storm Has Gone by MoraLeeWright. Rated E, * and +. When I tell you I screamed at some of these scenes! A much more angsty composition to the post canon au fics out there, but done so well. You almost forget how much angst the characters feel when the sweetness of their actions outweigh them. Author is incredible and has more works, but these two are just *chefs kiss*.
Surviving Peace by die-forellex (heatinfreezing). Rated E, * and +. This fic was my first RM fic, and I'll never forget it. It's hot, sweet, and oddly comforting. There's a particular, ahem, mouth on private part scene that always me fan myself in chapter 2. The satisfaction you feel when these two are finally finally happy, it's so wholesome. Just mind the tags--ackerbaby and pregnancy is big in this one.
To you, five years from now by a_sassin. Rated E, * and +. A different take on a post war au that has Eren and Armin alive, trying to navigate their last years as Mikasa returns to them. Oh, and she's pining for a certain captain *grins gleefully*. This is angsty but not as heavy as you'd expect. Very spicy but sweet. Definitely give this a try.
The Sound of Lightning by LycheeGreenTea. Rated M, * and -. Ackerbabies? Ackerbaby. This cute but action packed WIP is such a worthy check out. There's something about Daddy!Levi and Mommy!Mikasa that eats at my rm heart. Another take on a post war au that leaves you wanting more. A spicy scene and some domestic fluff is all you need to want more from this author.
After The War by loneackerman (aka the wonderful @rivaille-13) Rated M, * and -. THIS STORY. Anyone who is reading this can attest to just how amazing the plot and development of these characters are. There's a delicious slow burn element to it, and it's recently been resolved...let me tell you, worth the wait. Author is almost done with the fic I believe, but please check this story out. It's one of the best post war canon healing au's out there.
Same Old Thing by Raewyll. Rated M, * and -. Did someone say underground adventure? This was one of the best stories I had the pleasure of following along for a while now. I think the author has one more chapter left over. This is great for those who want something kind of spicy but not too spicy. The tension, plot, and action are all still there though.
I am from a burning village by @valya-azucena. Rated M and -, possible *. There's so much I want to say about this fic but can't coherently describe how amazing it is. The tension and build up of these characters is so SO good, and I screamed at the last update. 10/10.
Inexorable by @alienheartattack. Rated T and +. Hello modern au! I devoured this fic during work shamelessly. It's short and sweet, and there's just something so hot about the secretary/boss trope that eats me up.
Paths in Constellations by LamentableBrat. Rated E, * and -. HOLY SMOKES. This fic has torn me apart, y'all. When I tell you I cried AND am hotly bothered, no one else can do this but this author. It's an incredible fic and am so excited to see where it goes.
Soldiers Don't Get Happy Endings by heretosayhello. Rated T and -. I had to do a double take when I saw this was rated T because holy heck, this author just writes the tension between them like no other. There's a lot of Ackertalk and new plot lines I'm incredibly jealous of that I didn't think of first. SO GOOD.
Deep Sea Running by @linaxlight (shameless self plug). Rated E, *, and +. Post canon AU of what happens when the old Levi squad comes back to Paradis Island. Everyone else seems to have moved on three years after the ending of the war, and they make their peace saying goodbye to Eren. But Mikasa chose to stay behind back then, and she'll need to face Levi eventually. Sequel has Ackerbabies because I love them.
That's all for now folks! I'll do a part 2 next time.

Rivamika Sicario Spy AU prompt
Hey y'all- im seeing all these awesome sounding RM prompts that I had to share my own! So i recently rewatched Sicario (Spanish for assassin) by Denis Villeneuve and it is honestly its a movie i will slut for until my end of days. Masterpiece in cinematography (see above my fav shot- soldiers disappearing into the horizon at dusk, God bless Roger Deakins), acting, SOUNDTRACK (RIP Jóhann Jóhannsson) and visual storytelling- relying a lot on the subtext of the scenes to convey the story/emotional beats rather than actual dialogue.
If you haven't seen it yet, I IMPLORE you to do so. To say it was an unforgettable experience is to say the least although fair warning, it explores VERY dark and violent themes.
Now to the prompt- ive been about this spy-AU concept for a while (@alienheartattack got my smut coming, cant wait!!) where Levi is a hardened veteran agent of sorts and Mikasa is a idealistic rising star at a competing spy agency that have to join forces for an intense mission. I can't write for shit so its probably easier to convey it using the subtext of this scene in Sicario. Here Levi is a cold, shell of a man who understands how the game is played, with "a lot of past in his past". Mikasa is a capable, morally principled agent struggling to play by the rules (as she was taught from a young age) but to find that there are none. Here is the scene where they just finished said mission (don't mind my slutty cinematography comments i cant help it):
Mikasa stands on her balcony, lighting a cigarette, relaxed with curtains swaying in gentle breeze.
*Love this shot through the curtains in the foreground, softens the frame just lovely
A sudden voice disturbs her reverie, putting her at instant unease. She cautiously enters to find Levi waiting with a pensive look on his face.
*Love this zoom on the door, feels like her reflection is an added bonus to the shot
Levi makes a proposal which goes against all Mikasa's principles, morals and very being. She is overcome with the gravity of the proposal, visibly crumbling. Levi understands this and reaches out for her hand but hesitates for a moment, before gently caressing and holding her hand
*Love how soft this gesture is, it really does seem to comfort her
She refuses despite this, shaking her head no. This is an unacceptable answer for Levi, and deliberately demonstrates it is not a request
*I just love how he is also shrouded in darkness, while her frames are always so well lit. This is a running motif in the film
Mikasa is overwhelmed and in a state of emotional shock. She cannot stop the tears from falling to which Levi gently wipes away while caressing her face. Mikasa is stunned by the gentle gesture given the violent implications of her current situation. She looks deep into Levi's eyes and his cold façade flickers ever so slightly
*the juxtaposition of hard and soft gestures...SO PERFECT
She agrees to the proposal under threat, to which he leaves, telling her "this is the land of wolves, and you are no wolf". She digests all thats happened, charged with the weight of his words she grabs her gun and runs to the balcony, taking aim. Levi seems to sense this, and stops in his tracks
*in the full scene, you see a whole range of emotions splayed across Emilys face. She deserved all the awards
Levi slowly turns to her, waiting, almost daring her- accepting that his fate lies in her hands
*again hes shrouded in darkness and she in the light *chefs kiss*
Mikasa hesitates, the rage visibly washing away as she slowly lowers her gun. He gives her one last, long lingering look before turning and walking away from her, forever.
*you see the million thoughts/emotions running through her head without a single word before lowering her gun in the full scene
AND THEN THEY SMASH Yep, thats the prompt! Sorry for the long ass post. Here is the full scene but I would say you are robbing yourself and to just watch the film.
Edit: I cannot imagine for the life of me any other AOT ship that could fit this prompt without the characters being OOC. Its Levi & Mikasa's very character traits, the dynamics and the sheer intensity of their relationship (the potential at least) that made me fall so hard for this ship.

#is it the inherent sexism in the writing or is eren secretly gay for coconut head? yes
@alienheartattack ok ALL your tags but this one SENT me lolol
i’ll be honest i got more romantic feelings vibes from eren to armin in that one scene than i ever got from him to mikasa in the whole series and i don’t think that was what they were going for
#but the one thing that i cant abide by personally#is when Eren tells her he hates her shes a slave just trashing her etc etc-#and Mikasas response is basically like 'oh he not must mean it! still loves u 4evaaa' i guess????? LIKE WHAT#the dude absolutely trashes you to your face and u just...assume hes lying or just ignore it and keep loving him?? how is this not toxic af#MAKE IT MAKE SENSE#i refuse to watch but im curious to know if the final episode addresses at all#aot final episode

Hi! This had to be an ask but I accidentally eliminated it. (I wanted to modify it and instead I clicked eliminate lol since I’m a genius.) Anyway I wanted to answer so imagine that I’m actually answering to a real ask.
Anon: Do you have any suggestions for Rivamika fics? I love your analysis ;)
(I actually don’t really remember the exact words)
First, I’m so sorry anon 🥺🥺 Sometimes I’m in a rush and I don’t pay attention to where I click 🥺🥺 Again, please forgive me, it won’t happen again!!!
Anyway, I’m happy you love what I do and thank so much for the ask💜💜💜 Here’re my suggestions for you!! I usually prefer to read one-shots because they are faster to read and not really “demanding”; I read fics too but I’ll include just one-shots:
⚠️ These are the one shots that I remember really well or that I’ve saved! If yours are not included here, it doesn’t mean that you are not a good writer! I appreciate the work of each one of you guys and I admire you for the effort you put in creating such beautiful stories☺️☺️☺️💜💜💜!!!⚠️
@fulminataspqr ‘s blog is full of beautiful one-shots, I liked in particular these ones - 1&2, they’re about ackerbabies ;). I find them cute and funny at the same way! And this one, it’s very cute, and I love Mikasa babysitting little Eren
Also @hime-writes has written lots of beautiful stories, for RM but also for the Erumika ship (Erwin x Mikasa) ;). This time, I’ll suggest this one, it’s a very beautiful story about an ackerbaby I’m a sucker for ackerbabies lol.
The last blog I’ll suggest is @alienheartattack’s. She has written a lot of one-shots, the one who got me in a particular way is this one, Mikasa imagining a life with Levi is very sweet and it melts my heart ♥️
And if you want more fics to read, check @humanitys-strongest-library! She reblogs RM fics and one-shots so there you’ll find new things to read!!
Sorry if this was short but I’m not really good at making suggestions 😢 Again, sorry if I eliminated your ask! Thanks a lot for your question dear anon 🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜

Rivamika Fic Suggestions List
Hello! First time posting on the Rivamika side of Tumblr. I just wanted to leave some of my personal recommendations for Rivamika fan fics on here to possibly help pass the time. I know that some people in the Rivamika chat will ask or put down some fic suggestions and it sucks that the messages get deleted after 1 week. Some of these stories are widely known in this community and some I think need a little more love lol. But I hope that you enjoy these stories as much as I have. I’ve split this list up into four categories. I wanted to let people know the status of some these fics in case they did not want to start an incomplete or in progress story. I know that many people are going to noticed that the Western Passage is not on this list. Sadly, I never got around to reading it when it was written for Levi and Mikasa and I can’t seem to find it anywhere for the life of me.
All of these fics can be found on AO3. I would link them but Tumblr apparently has an issue with links. If you guys want another list of fics, just let me know or you can tell me to GTFO and I will take the hint lol! If you have any fic suggestions for me, feel free to message me with them and I can add them on to the next list if anyone wants that. If any author sees their story on here and they want me to take it off the list, please let me know I don’t wish to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Also, last thing, I highly recommend leaving comments and kudos to the authors. I know that they greatly appreciate it and it helps them with improving their writing through feedback. I’ll shut up now.
DISCLAIMER: I know that not all of these stories are not for everyone, these are just my opinions and suggestions.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Completed:
- Finding Comfort in Burning
Author: LittleWhisperer
Rating: Mature
This is a classic Rivamika fic and I know that the community loves it (as do I). If you are looking for superb character development, look no further than this baby right here. LittleWhisperer’s writing is so well done I can’t believe that this ain’t just a famous author writing in their spare time (oh wait I think they are). They’re so descriptive with the environment that you feel as if you are there watching as the scenes unfold. It’s a captivating story from start to finish and the building of Mikasa and Levi’s passionate relationship is soo scrumptious.
- Part of Me
Author: kenken_chan
Rating: Mature
Every Rivamika fan out there has to read this story!!! I cannot describe how absolutely wonderful this fic is! I was literally left speechless after finishing the last chapter because my mind was just blown away by the conclusion of Levi and Mikasa’s relationship. This really takes you on an emotional roller coaster and you can really grasp each character’s emotions through out the story. I will give a warning before hand, there are heavy subjects and situations presented that some people may not feel comfortable with. I personally think those subjects and how they are handled is what makes this fic such a diamond in the rough but if you are feeling uncomfortable then I understand that as well. I also know this fic has been out before and that the author had made changes to it since it was first released. If you haven’t read the edited version of this story, I would say give it another read now. I would love to hear what people think after they finish reading this gem.
- A Dangerous Game
Author: LittleWhisperer
Rating: Explicit
OMG! What a ride this story was! Once I started to read the first chapter, I could not stop! It just sucked me into the story’s world and I felt like I was actually there seeing the action and environment that the author was describing. This story keeps you in suspense and on your toes for what is going to happen next in this crazy Mafia AU. The relationship between Levi and Mikasa is magnificently done as they come to realize they have more in common than they think. I enjoy LittleWhisper’s work and I recommend checking out more of their works.
- The Taste of Pomegranate
Author: alienheartattack
Rating: Teen/Explicit
I have to say that I would have not expected me to like a Ballet AU story for Rivamika, but I absolutely enjoy every second while reading this one. The way the author creates the tension between Mikasa and Levi is splendidly done in this story. There are two more one-shots that follow after the original fic but they honestly feel like two more chapters that are just continuing with the story. I would certainly read the two one-shots after your finish reading part 1, you will not regret it!
- The Song Remains the Same
Author: MoraLeeWright
Rating: Mature
I enjoy MoraLeeWright’s writing so much! I think I binged read this story in about a day, I couldn’t stop myself. This fic does a really great job of slowly building the relationship between Mikasa and Levi. It gives their perspectives on the challenges they are facing together as well as the conflicting feelings each have about the growing bond between the two of them. I know that this is a Rivamika classic among fans but if you have yet to read it, definitely check this story out!
Ongoing:
- Who Are You Calling a Bitch?
Author: xx_ciela
Rating: Mature
I was terrified that this fic would not ever get updated again, but good news its BACK! I am so excited to see where the story leads and whats going to happen to Mikasa, Levi and the other characters that are present. WAYCAB does an amazing job of mixing and twisting many different types of lore together to pull you into this fantasy type AU. Just when you think you have finally received the answers to your questions, it only lead to more questions lol. This story will keep you pensive and excited to find out what exactly is going on in this city. Its a slow burn in regards to Mikasa and Levi’s relationship, but I have a feeling that the wait will be well worth it. Undoubtedly recommend checking this out and leaving a comment for the author telling you want more!
- I Just Miss A Good Cup Of Tea
Author: EJelly
Rating: Mature
I discover this fic because of how it was blowing up in the Rivamika tag on tumblr lol. I’m soo happy that I decided on checking it out because I binged read the 28 chapters that were out already. Attack on Titan meets The Walking Dead in this baby. The way that EJelly writes action is spectacular, it feels like I’m watching a TV show. I also love the way they write in each character’s POV in order for you to understand the mind set of the characters during this zombie apocalypse. The relationship between Levi and Mikasa is beautifully built over the course of this story and I cannot wait to find out what lies ahead of them. Again, another slow burn that I have a feeling will be well worth the wait (it already has been)! Go check it out and leave a comment telling EJelly that you are excited for more!
- Just Until The Storm Has Gone (?)
Author: MoraLeeWright
Rating: Explicit
Put a question mark by this one because I’m not sure if this is still ongoing or not. Regardless of that, I urge everyone to go read this indescribable work of art. MoraLeeWright’s writing has just blossomed into such beauty and she does nothing but keep getting better as time goes on (I don’t even know how that is possible but she doing the damn thing). JUTSHG is in a class of its own, for me, in the world of Rivamika fics. This baby is from Mikasa’s perspective and it delves into her psyche as she is dealing with the after affects of war. Her relationship with Levi is so mesmerizing in this story and the way that MoraLeeWright creates their smut scenes is so yummy I just want to eat it for lunch. I can’t even call it smut because its so much more than that. You can feel the connection of two souls finally finding the other they have been looking for as well as passion they have for each other. I could go on about how much I LOVE this story but I’ll stop. This one is on my top 3 favorite Rivamika fics of all time.
Incomplete:
- No Rest for the Wicked
Author: Hallow17
Rating: Explicit
Freaking love this story and I’m SOOO SAD that its incomplete! Mikasa has to deal with the paranormal while also running a business in this fic. The budding relationship between Levi and Mikasa is well paced and so gracefully displayed that even though it is an incomplete story, it’s well worth reading the 19 chapter that have already been published. Everything you could ask for in a paranormal story is presented; ghost, action, spirits, and lots of angst! This is such a unique story its literally burned into my brain and I will never forget it. I hope that Hallow17 miraculously comes back to finish this baby off one day!
- Romance and Rivalry
Author: AmayaOkami
Rating: Explicit
I AM SO HEARTBROKEN THAT THIS STORY IS NOT COMPLETE I CANT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN MY FEELINGS!!! Ugh, this story is soo freakin good! I know that this is another story that is popular in the Rivamika community but I have no choice but to put it here! The build up in this story is amazing that you can’t wait to read the next chapter to see what happens with Mikasa and Levi. This is such a great take on a typical romantic trope but AmayaOkami puts so much personality into the characters that it gives off such a fun and exciting vibe. The comedy and awkwardness is displayed so well that I have to stop reading because I get bad second hand embarrassment lol! Omg please read it even though its incomplete, its too much fun to pass up on. AMAYAOKAMI PLEASE I BEG YOU COME BACK AND FINISH THIS RIVAMIKA ROMCOM I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!
One-Shot:
- Intertwining
Author: Livysan
Rating: Explicit
I’m staring off these one-shots with two of my favorite Rivamika “smut” stories. This is such a wonderfully written love scene between Mikasa and Levi. Livysan really expresses the yearning passion that Levi and Mikasa have for each and unfolds it in such a sweet and loving way. A must for any Rivamika fan to read.
- Until the Stars Disappear
Author: noiresetoiles
Rating: Mature
This is just an exquisitely done love scene between Levi and Mikasa I almost have no words for it. Its just down right BEAUTIFUL that pretty much all I can do to describe it. I really enjoyed how noiresetoiles decided to not use any dialogue in this story, it really shows how Mikasa and Levi’s actions tell how they really feel about each other. Again, a must read for Rivamika fans.
- Clean-Shaven
Author: hashire
Rating: Mature
The cute domestic fluff that we need from Levi and Mikasa! This is a one-shot but it is part of hashire’s Happily Ever After collection. The whole collection is about the domestic bliss between Mikasa and Levi after the war has come to an end. I definitely recommend reading the entire collection, you will not be sorry.
- Pure Dawn
Author: sulkyfuckingcat
Rating: Explicit
A Holiday AU that has sexual tension and smut? Count. Me. In. Pure Dawn has all the build up and smutiness that any Rivamika fan needs if they are craving it. Go check it out if you haven’t, I know that its pretty popular in the Rivamika community and I can see why lol.
- Begging for Thread
Author: villanelle
Rating: Explicit
I believe that this one has been talked about a lot in the Rivamika community but I still have to leave it here just in case someone hasn’t heard about it. Its a must read. Written from the perspective of Levi the story explores his mindset as he is trying to deal with his emotions towards Mikasa. Mikasa has some taunting tendencies in this fic which I love as well.
- Looking Into the Heart of Light
Author: hashire
Rating: Explicit
Again, another domestic bliss fic about an eventful evening between Levi and Mikasa. Its a pretty quick read but its too cute to pass up. If your looking for a quick Rivamika fix then this is the fic for you.

I’m probably never going to finish the monster of a cottagecore fic that I outlined. It could be full novel length if I really leaned into it and I just don’t have the time. So, here’s the beginning of it that I already wrote:
In town the children speak of the Forest Witch, a woman with black hair and black eyes who descends upon the market once a week, silent like a wraith.
"My dad says she's not from here," whispers a little boy, divulging what appears to be a scandalous secret. "She looks different." Levi is surprised that the boy doesn’t seem to fear his scars or his clouded eye, but he supposes that’s less frightening to these kids than the boogeyman of the big bad foreigner.
"You can hear the scariest sounds coming from her house," a little girl says, gripping the ends of her plaited hair with tense fists. "Like someone screaming bloody murder."
"Take me to her and you get this," Levi tells the group of little brats, producing a silver coin from his pocket. The kids' faces light up, eyes ablaze with childish greed, no doubt calculating how many sweets they can buy with a whole silver. "Tch," he huffs, but says nothing further.
That witch is the reason you little shits are alive today, he thinks. Be grateful.
A boy who introduces himself as Georg, the bravest or most reckless of the bunch, is the only one willing to lead him down the overgrown path that leads into the pine forest, the hilly wilderness outside Shiganshina. The trek takes longer than he expects; by the time they stop at the edge of a clearing, dense conifers giving way to grassy meadows, he's leaning heavily on his walking stick, sweating with exertion, and gritting his teeth to suppress the pain radiating through his injured legs.
"This is as far as I'll go," Georg says. "Sorry, mister."
Levi's brow furrows. "Why here?"
"Last year, my big brother Erik's friends dared him to run up to the Forest Witch's house and touch it. The next week he broke the arm he touched her house with."
"How'd that happen?"
"He was fixing the shingles on our roof and fell. The witch cursed him."
"Sure she did," Levi drawls, trying to humor the kid but sounding exactly as skeptical as he feels. He does not believe in witches or curses, especially when the most likely explanation for Big Brother Erik's injury is that he's a clumsy teenage boy.
"Is that her house over there, with the brown roof?" he asks. It's the only house around, a worn-looking log cabin surrounded by the remains of a wood and wire fence. The last thing he wants to do after days of traveling and searching is knock on a stranger's door.
"Yeah, that's it. You… you really want to see the Forest Witch?" Georg's voice is hushed with fear.
Levi grunts an affirmative response. "She's my friend."
The color drains from the kid's face and his eyes go wide, practically bulging out of his head. "Can I have the money now?" he shrills.
Levi flips the coin off of his hand in Georg's general direction, eyes focused on the log cabin a few hundred feet away. A curl of smoke rises from the chimney; Levi's breath hitches with excitement at the probable end of his search. The kid's rapid footfalls echo through the forest as he sprints away.
No doubt he'll have a story to tell, Levi thinks. I met the Forest Witch's friend. Forest Demon, maybe? He likes the sound of that, a more accurate moniker than Humanity's Strongest: it has been a very long time since he felt strong but, five years out from the battle at Fort Salta, sometimes he still feels like a monster.
Work in Progress Wednesday
Creators: work on or post something from your WIP. This is your weekly reminder to get something down on paper (real or virtual). It’s also a chance to share your progress with your followers and give them a sneak peek of what’s to come!
Fans: leave a comment on an unfinished fic and let the writer know how much you love it. Reblog an artist’s sketch and let them know you can’t wait to see the final product. Send someone an ask cheering them on!
Feel free to repost this image!

A Nameless Love
@dewipersikkk You want Ackerbabies? You got Ackerbables. I also threw in some light canonverse cottagecore. Enjoy!
"She's a week old. We have to pick a name sometime." Mikasa shoots a heavy-lidded, weary gaze at her husband as she rocks back and forth in her usual chair on their porch, their baby suckling noisily at her breast. Levi sits next to her in his own rocking chair though he sits still, watching the baby's lips work around his wife's nipple, a thin stream of milk running out of the side of her mouth and down her face. He retrieves a handkerchief from his pocket and reaches over to dab the milk away, watching intently as she completely ignores him in favor of Mikasa's breast.
Fatherhood is a bizarre thing to him: the baby is a strange little creature that seems only to sleep and scream and eat and shit, and he has been enraptured by her since the moment he laid eyes on her, bluish and bloody and shrieking. Despite his mind and body screaming for him to run away, he has cleaned up all kinds of nightmarish bodily emissions, happily so, marveling at the myriad of new sights and sounds and smells even when they make him want to retch. How is he supposed to put a name, a collection of mere letters, to the infinite, life-altering depth and power of his love for this tiny thing?
"We don't have to pick a name just yet. We can just call her 'the baby' until she's not a baby anymore. That gives us, what, a year? Year and a half?" Levi raises his eyebrows a little, a slight motion that could signify a joke or a serious proposition. Having known him for so long, Mikasa understands that his actual intention is a mixture of both.
"I'm not going to entertain that for even a second," she says, looking off into the distance, over the grassy knolls previously obscured from view by the wall. A gentle breeze stirs the tall grass, making it dance in the first golden rays of the sunset.
"We should just go with the original plan and name her after both of our mothers," he grumbles.
She looks over at him, her dark eyes hard and sharp as the swords they have not touched in years. "Shiori Kuchel, then?"
He glares at her. "Kuchel Shiori."
She shakes her head, then takes the baby away from her breast, cradling her in one arm while she fiddles with the neckline of her dress so she can feed the baby on the other side. Mikasa grunts as the baby latches on, clamping down hard with her little gums.
"You okay?" Levi asks.
"Yeah," she grits out. "Still getting used to this."
He makes a low "Mm" sound, ending that line of conversation. They frequently talk like this, letting the conversation peter out and enjoying long stretches of silence before resuming. The baby is almost finished feeding when he speaks again.
"We could flip a coin, see which name goes first."
"I am not using a coin flip to pick our daughter's name," she retorts.
Levi purses his lips, but they still perk up a little at the ends. "I guess I respect that."
The baby's mouth moves more slowly and her breaths grow soft. Mikasa smiles at the sight, her little girl's eyes closing even as she drinks, and runs her fingertips through the baby's soft black hair. The pressure on her nipple decreases, and soon the baby is breathing deep, her mouth still working lightly, but not drawing forth any more milk.
"She's asleep," she whispers.
"Can I hold her?" he whispers back.
"Yeah, of course."
Levi gets out of his chair and retrieves the baby, sliding his hand beneath her head to support her neck, cradling her against his chest. She instinctively snuggles against him, molding herself to his warmth, and for what feels the millionth time that week, overwhelmed tears blur his vision.
My girl, he thinks. My perfect girl.
He sits there rocking the baby, too busy watching her small face, trying to discern his own features in hers, to notice the sun setting in vivid watercolor hues. Mikasa notices, but only as a backdrop to the much more beautiful view of this scarred and hardened man glowing with rapturous joy as he beholds his sleeping daughter.
"Is there anyone else you'd want to name her after?" he asks, looking over at his wife. He has so many names in mind, so many loves lost, that he is reluctant to start naming them. He feels comfortable with the ghosts of his past but prefers them as a fuzzy background to his current life: the simple pleasures of working the land and providing for his family, of loving and being loved.
"We've lost so many friends. But..." She leaves her thought incomplete, choosing instead to focus on the last rays of crimson on the horizon.
"I know you have someone in mind," he says, feeling pleased by how calm and tender he sounds compared to his former military bark. "Just say it."
Mikasa sighs, a rush of breath leaving her body. "Sasha."
Levi finds himself nodding, not necessarily to agree but in the hope that if he remains in motion, he won't lose himself in the sickening memory of that day in the flying boat, the smell of blood and gunpowder, the cries of his comrades. Mikasa's cries.
"She does like to eat," he says, looking down at the baby again, her little mouth sucking at an imaginary nipple even in her sleep.
Mikasa smiles despite the ache in her chest, a wound to which she has become sadly accustomed, though it hurts less often and less deeply these days. "Sasha Kuchel?" she asks.
"Sasha Kuchel," he repeats, testing how the name feels in his mouth. "I like it."
"That was a lot less painful than I thought it'd be," Mikasa admits, letting out another heavy breath, this one relieved.
Levi laughs. "I'm too sleep deprived to make a dirty joke out of that, but just know I'd make one if I had full use of my brain." She joins in, her giggle quiet and musical, and for a moment he feels so in love — with his wife, with his newborn daughter, with the cerulean twilight, with this simple life he's fought tooth and nail to have — that he thinks he might burst with it.
At that moment Sasha stirs in her sleep, stretching out her tiny arms before curling them up against her chest. Levi rocks her in his arms until she starts snoring, then leans down and brushes his lips against the baby's forehead.
"Daddy loves you, Sasha," he coos. "Daddy loves you so much."

(in response to your rm fluff prompt post!)
moment(s) between levi and mikasa in the time period where eren went undercover in liberio :’)
He hates that he's no longer the only one awake in the middle of the night. He hates that he can't stop being alert, can't stop noticing the scrape of her boots against the cold, hard ground as she jogs circles around the military camp. Can't stop listening out for her steady footfalls to know she's there even when he wishes she'd shut the hell up.
Most of all, he hates that he understands exactly how she feels: the gnawing, bone-deep restlessness, the constant anxiety. He had that same disquietude inside of him when Erwin was court-martialed, crackling through his bones like lightning. He'd almost prefer it to how he feels now: lost and disconnected, like a marionette with a cut string.
He hopes she'll quit on her own, but after a week of even more restless sleep than usual, he's ready to wring her neck. A part of him is, anyway; as much as she can still frustrate him sometimes, that frustration is tempered by the knowledge that there's some kind of commonality between them, something arcane and unknowable. He can never seem to shake the feeling that she may be the only wreckage left to cling to in this world constantly on the verge of ruin.
He doesn't want to get angry with her, anyway. He's so tired of anger.
With a resigned sigh, he gets out of bed and turns on the light, puttering around his room in a familiar trajectory to fill his kettle with water and ignite his tiny stove. While the water boils, he walks over to the window and shoves it open, leaning halfway out of it.
"Oi! Mikasa!" he calls to her — or at least tries to, the sound coming out like a stage whisper. It takes a few attempts and some rather undignified waving of his arms to get her to notice him but eventually she does, jogging over with that same annoying scrape of leather on earth.
"Am I keeping you up?" she asks, an amused light in her eyes.
"No," he says flatly, and the light dims. "You worried about Eren?"
Her mouth presses into a thin line. She says nothing. Her expression is neutral but guarded, the lines of her body tense like she's waiting for him to surprise her with something terrible.
He tries another tack. "You haven't slept much this week?"
"Barely at all," she admits, quiet and shameful. She knows he knows why.
"Tch," he huffs. "Come in and have some tea with me. It'll help you sleep. I've... I've been where you are before, so I know. The tea will help."
She's silent for a few moments, long enough for him to panic that he has either wildly misconstrued her relative acceptance of him or that he's inadvertently propositioned her.
"Okay," she finally replies, and he's so relieved he honestly thinks about hugging her.

Sweet Revenge (Inexorable AU)
Word Count: 2260 words
Rating: E. They fuck. It’s dope. Don’t read if you’re underage or have objections to explicit adult content.
Summary: Levi and Mikasa have a feud at the school bake sale and decide to get revenge on their PTA nemesis.
Notes: For non-US readers, PTA stands for parent-teacher association, where parents volunteer at their children’s schools to get involved in the school’s activities and influence the quality of their child’s education, usually through fundraisers and other events.
This story takes place 8-9 years after the events of Inexorable and about 2 years after the events of the other Inexorable AU fics, A Scream in the Night and A Minor Dispute About Rain. The only thing you really need to know if you haven’t read those is that Levi and Mikasa have a daughter named Anya, who is basically a grumpy mini Levi, in addition to Hana.
The only thing keeping Levi from running after the PTA president and giving her a hefty piece of his mind is Mikasa’s grip, firm and insistent, on the hem of his sweater.
“You’re going to stretch it out,” Levi snaps at his wife, redirecting his ire at the closest target. Mikasa idly caresses the swell of her belly with one hand and looks at him with one eyebrow raised, silently asking if he wants to argue with his pregnant wife in public.
“I’ll let you go when I’m confident you’re not going to track Joanne down and scream in her face,” she says calmly. “As much as I’d like to see that.”
“She fucking begged us to help out at this bake sale and now she’s just gonna call our lemon bars basic?! We’re not goddamn pastry chefs!”
“Levi, listen to yourself. You sound legitimately insane.”
He sighs, letting his shoulders drop as the tension and rage starts to leave his body. Mikasa releases his sweater and he collapses into his seat, crossing his arms over his chest. She joins him, gingerly lowering herself onto the uncomfortable metal folding chair provided by the school.
“I hate this so much. I hate Joanne, I hate being on the PTA, and I absolutely fucking hate bake sales,” he huffs.
"Well, we’re stuck here for the evening. I don’t want to be here either but I’m trying to make the most of it. Mikasa picks up a lemon bar and takes a huge bite. "Besides, fuck Joanne. These are good.”
Levi motions for Mikasa to give him a bite. “Fuck Joanne,” he agrees through a mouthful of pastry and curd.
Thankfully business picks up after that, and Levi and Mikasa spend the next half hour handing out lemon bars to parents and kids, ignoring Joanne hovering around them and observing their dealings with a disdainful eye. When the rush clears, she slowly approaches their table, pretending to be browsing. They both clock her gaze drifting over their mostly empty dish of lemon bars and the small twitch at the corner of her mouth that telegraphs her dissatisfaction with the Ackermans’ success. Triumphant, they share a brief glance, another silent Fuck Joanne.
To their dismay, she approaches Mikasa, staring at her oversized t-shirt dress. “Bun in the oven,” Joanne reads, her cold eyes sweeping over the looped script printed across Mikasa’s abdomen, decorated with a drawing of a smiling roll baking away. “Oh, you’re pregnant, sweetie! Congratulations!” There’s sweetness in her voice, but it’s tinged with venom. Mikasa knows it all too well.
“Thanks,” she mutters, bracing herself for the backhanded part of Joanne’s compliment.
“I thought you’d just let yourself go, but it’s a blessing instead! What a relief!” She laughs uproariously at her own joke. Levi jams his hands into the pockets of his jeans, balling them into tight fists so Joanne can’t see how enraged he is. “Is it a boy or a girl?”
Mikasa does not answer, instead focusing her energy on keeping a straight face while she contemplates murder. Levi can sense her tensing up, her shoulders stiffening, fury radiating from her body in waves.
“It’s a boy,” he cuts in curtly. “We’ve already got our two girls.”
“Your oldest isn’t—” Joanne’s voice drops to a near-whisper— “yours, though, is she?”
Levi narrows his eyes, no longer interested in hiding his annoyance. “She’s mine. I’ve helped raise her since she was a baby.”
“Oh, how sweet. What a modern family,” she gushes, cooing with an edge of condescension in her voice. “Well, congratulations.” She then turns and walks off, conveniently waving to someone across the room.
“Are you okay?” Levi asks Mikasa in a low voice once Joanne is out of earshot. Mikasa stares after her, eyes black with rage, her breath hissing through clenched teeth. She doesn’t need to say anything; he already knows the answer is no.
He places a reassuring hand on the back of her neck, massaging her nape the way she does to him when he’s stressed and ranting. “Tell you what, I’ll go out to the car and grab something sharp, we slice Joanne’s Achilles tendons and then get the hell out of here.”
“What? No!” She looks over at him, her expression disgusted and exasperated. “You have to stop watching gore movies with Hana. She’s barely ten.”
“She loves them! We were watching some zombie bullshit the other day and that little monster laughed while watching a guy get his guts ripped out and eaten. I’m pretty sure she’s gonna grow up to be a serial killer.”
Mikasa rolls her eyes. “Well, if she is, she gets it from Eren’s side of the family.” Even though he’s still angry on his wife’s behalf, Levi can’t help but chuckle at that.
“Fucking Joanne,” he grumbles. “If zombies ate her guts they’d spit them back out. Her kid’s an asshole, too.” Mikasa is well aware of that fact: Joanne’s son tried bullying Anya at the beginning of the school year, calling her a midget and pulling her hair until she had enough and whacked him in the face with her math textbook. That was Levi and Mikasa’s first run-in with Joanne before they joined the PTA, and things have only gone downhill since.
A few more kids approach the table, hesitant due to Levi’s scowl; Mikasa shutters her anger behind a calm facade and handles the sales, though she doesn’t say much.
When the latest wave of customers leaves, she turns to her husband. “I think I have an idea to make both of us feel better.”
A look of skepticism crosses his face. “Really? I was kinda hoping for that severed Achilles tendon.”
Mikasa facepalms; she’s had years to grow accustomed to her husband’s awkwardness and his awful jokes, but sometimes he still manages to surprise her. Ironically it only makes her love him more, this odd, cranky man who might literally kill for her.
“Joanne parked next to us, right?” she asks.
“Yeah, remember? I said her car looks like the physical embodiment of vaginal dryness and you laughed so hard you peed a little.”
“You really didn’t have to mention that last part.”
“I dunno, it gives the story flavor. Pee flavor.”
“Look, I have an idea. Get someone to take the rest of the lemon bars, then meet me in the parking lot. If anyone asks, I’m not feeling well and you need to take me home.”
Levi sighs. “What are you planning?”
Mikasa leans in close to him, her lips millimeters from his ear. “Meet me outside and you’ll see,” she purrs.
Five minutes later he bursts through the metal doors at the back of the school to see her sitting on the hood of Joanne’s car, an aggressively beige sedan.
“Come here,” she beckons him. He approaches her and, when he is within reach, she grabs his shirt and pulls him to her. Their lips collide awkwardly before settling into the familiar rhythm of their kissing, slow and deep.
After a few moments, he pulls away. “What is going on here?”
“Revenge,” she says. “I want you to fuck me on the hood of Joanne’s car.”
He ponders the suggestion for a moment, then smiles — and then a giggle escapes his mouth, a sound somewhere between bewilderment and glee, then another, then another.
“Aw, come on, don’t laugh. I thought it’d be fun.” She frowns, embarrassment heating and coloring her cheeks.
“No, no,” he says once he’s able to control his laughter. “I fucking love it.” He kisses her fiercely, growling deep in his throat. “I fucking love you.” Mikasa smiles, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him close. There’s some maneuvering involved in getting her underwear off, her round belly making the whole process somewhat unwieldy; Levi stuffs them in his pocket then gets down on the concrete, kneeling before her.
“Are you serious?” she squeals, trying to look at him over the curve of her stomach.
“If anyone asks, tell them you went into labor and I’m checking how far along you are.” With a low laugh he gets to work, nuzzling her pussy before licking a firm stroke along her seam. Mikasa bites her lip and lets out a shaky anticipatory breath in the brief moment before Levi lavishes attention on her clit, massaging it with his lips and tongue. She gasps when he pulls away from her a few minutes later, halfway to orgasm and disappointed not to get there.
“We need to be fast,” he says in lieu of an apology, undoing his pants and pulling out his half-hard cock, pumping it a few times in his fist. “I’ll finish you off at home.”
“You’d better,” she replies, a playful threat.
Levi settles himself between her legs then enters her with no warning or fanfare save the soft moan they both make, a low noise of contentment, of wholeness. They have always been a fearsome team, first as colleagues, then lovers, now spouses and parents, and their lovemaking is no different, each of them able to discern angles and positions from sighs, from grunts, from the furrow of a brow or the touch of a hand. Tonight Mikasa slides her hands down Levi’s back, skating over the soft brushed cashmere of his sweater, telling him that she wants him to be gentle with her — for now, anyway. Joanne’s comment must have stung, he thinks, and he resolves to show her exactly how beautiful he thinks she is, pregnant or not. There’s a certain earthy, ephemeral beauty in her pregnant body, something attractive and incredibly arousing about the thought of her creating and building life even as she sits next to him selling lemon bars at a school bake sale. He loves the way her hard edges have softened, the pleasing new fullness in her cheeks, the luminous glow that seems to emanate from within her.
(He has learned since her last pregnancy not to mention that he also loves the growing size of her breasts, and in return Mikasa only rebukes him for staring when he’s open-mouthed and practically drooling.)
Mikasa’s eyes flutter closed as Levi rocks against her, a gentle motion that makes the car bounce in time with his thrusts. A bubble of laughter escapes her lips.
“What’s that for?” he asks with a smile, then kisses her before she can answer.
“I love you so much,” she says against his mouth. “And fuck Joanne.”
Levi stops moving; Mikasa cocks her head, silently asking him what’s wrong. “Don’t say that bitch’s name when I’m inside you.”
“Look, do you want to revenge-fuck me or not?” She isn’t sure if that’s a word, but during sex, when they’re heated and frantic for each other, even Levi’s crude come-ons sound like poetry, so maybe this will work.
It does. “You want me to revenge-fuck you?” he growls, slapping his hips against hers with a rough thrust. She whimpers at the impact, a wave of pleasure rippling through her body.
“Yeah,” she pants. “Show me how angry you are.”
He makes a low hum of approval; though he’s become more proficient at sweet talk and romance in the years he’s been with Mikasa, he tends to favor sex as intense as his personality, grasping hands and heavy eye contact. Mikasa has never seemed to mind though sometimes, like tonight, she needs him to make love to her first.
Levi fucks her hard and fast, the sound of skin slapping against skin echoing in the cool night, her cunt making obscene liquid noises around his cock. Even through the delicious haze of their passion they’re listening out for footsteps, for cars, for the creak of doors opening.
“We should finish soon,” Mikasa pants.
“I’m close.” He slows his pace, grinding against her, sinking into her as deep as he can go, before pulling back and scything into her slick heat again and again, harder and harder, muttering curses and endearments and wordless sounds of effort and desire.
And then he thrusts into Mikasa so roughly that her ass hits the hood of Joanne’s car hard, triggering the car alarm, horn blaring and lights flashing.
“Shit!” Levi yelps, startled by the sudden noise. He jumps back from her, stuffing his stiff, aching cock back in his pants and undoing the fly with adrenaline-shaky fingers.
“We gotta go!” She hops down from the car, landing unsteadily on her feet, pulling her dress down over her nudity. “Do you have the keys?” She scrambles over to their car, pulling at the handle of the locked passenger door. “Come on!”
Levi reaches in his pocket for the key fob, mashing the buttons so the doors unlock and the ignition turns on. Mikasa clambers into the car as fast as she can, slamming the door behind her, and Levi follows soon after. Through the windshield she can see someone coming to locate the source of the commotion and chants, “Drive! Drive!” at Levi while he clicks his seatbelt into place.
“Seatbelt!” he barks at her and she complies, fear and arousal and adrenaline making her feel jittery and giggly and wonderfully alive. Levi remains stoic, but there’s a devilish glee playing at the corners of his lips: he’s enjoying himself just as much as she is. He backs their car out of the parking spot with the precision of a stunt driver and peels off, speeding off into the night seconds before Joanne comes outside to investigate the shrieking car alarm and the strange ass-shaped dent on her hood.

RIDDLE ME THIS, BIATCH....how are you so wonderful??? <3<3
lol my dumbass aside, for the fic ask game: 15, 17, 20 and 24
Lmao! Years of practice, I guess!
15. Which fic that you’ve written relates to you and your personal life the most?
I'm not sure there is one! I use fanfic as escapism so it's pretty rare that I'll write something that directly relates to my life. At most I'll throw in a detail, like if I'm eating pizza then I might have them eat pizza, but I can't really think of any examples where I did that. (It comes up more frequently in my OC work since that's more based in the real world.)
17. What has been the proudest moment for you so far since you started writing?
I have 3 that I can think of:
Finishing Inexorable, since that's my only long(ish) fic to date and it was a massive achievement for me. I've never completed a multichapter fic before or since.
The reaction when I published Another Taste of Pomegranate, which was basically just a series of horny keysmashes. (People really liked These Violent Delights as well, so that was a lot of fun.)
Every time I get added to a fic rec list or someone posts a long comment! That always makes my day. I got a really in depth comment on These Violent Delights on AO3 the other day from @helena-thessaloniki and it was incredible. I've reread it like 4 times.
20. Which fic have you put the most work into? Which fic have you put the least work into?
In terms of sheer hours, Inexorable. I work really hard on all of my fics though, which is probably why I can't seem to write anything under 5k anymore. 💀
I think the least amount of "work" I put into a fic was my rewrite of the canon ending, To All of Us, From 2000 Years Ago. That's only because the idea came to me almost fully formed and I basically just posted my first draft.
24. Which fic of yours do you wish people would ask about more? Why?
I feel like Koi No Yokan was really popular when I first posted it, but it's fallen off a lot lately. I'm really proud of that one! There's a lot of complexity going on in that fic: two parallel developing relationships, a mystery that I had to hint towards without making it obvious.
Ask me some fic-related questions!

To All Of Us, From 2000 Years Ago
I got so mad about 139 and the leaks that I banged out my own 3000+ word ending to the manga today. Please keep in mind that this is a non-shipping story. Although I’ve exclusively written Rivamika before, this is not a Rivamika story, and although there’s an Eren/Mikasa scene at the beginning. there is no relationship between them, only the implication of feelings that are not quite reciprocated. I also threw some Levi fan service in there because why the hell not?
CW: There are references to and non-detailed descriptions of rape in this story.
You can also read this on AO3!
"You know what you have to do," Eren says. Mikasa pretends not to hear him over the rush of the little creek they're sitting by so he says it again, louder.
"I know," she sighs. "Even now, knowing that you've done something so unforgivable, a part of me doesn't want to."
"You're a good person, Mikasa. You'll be even better without me."
She snorts a laugh. "I've killed people, too. Just not as many as you did."
"You always had the weirdest sense of humor." Eren puts an arm around her, presses a kiss to her cheek. "I'm going to miss it." That's what finally brings him to tears, the thought of not seeing Mikasa again. Or Armin. Or Connie, or Jean, or Captain Levi, even the rest of them. He's had plenty of time to accept that he'd die at nineteen, was always going to die at nineteen, but now that the moment has arrived he wants to hold on just a bit longer.
Mikasa doesn't cry, at least not the way he expects her to. Tears stream down her face but she doesn't sniffle, doesn't sob, doesn't rage or scream the way she’s done in the past. He sees them both, Mikasa the girl and Mikasa the soldier, perfectly coexisting in the inky blackness of her eyes. She has made her decision. She made it before she even stepped into the mouth of the Titan.
"Kiss me one last time," Eren weeps. "Please."
"Okay," she nods, cupping his face with one hand and leaning in close. "See you later, Eren."
When Mikasa pulls away from his lips, the deed is already done. His severed head feels sickeningly heavy in her blood-stained hands. His eyes gaze beyond her, beyond the veil of this world, clouded with the knowledge of the void. The Titan around her begins to disintegrate in plumes of white steam. Mikasa swears she can smell wildflowers.
"Mikasa Ackerman," a girl's voice echoes. Mikasa whips her head around, looking for the source of the sound. Someone seems to materialize from the steam, swirling eddies of smoke coalescing in the form of a small girl, scraggly blond hair falling into her eyes, barefoot in a dirty white dress. Her face is blank, her eyes downcast.
"Ymir," Mikasa says, the name forming in her mouth before she can think of it.
Ymir nods, then points to Eren's head. "You loved him. Why did you kill him?"
"I had to."
"Why?"
"Because some things are more important than my love." Ymir stares blankly, seemingly confused. "The millions of people who died are more important. The world is more important. Besides, what kind of person would I be to stand beside someone who could slaughter so many people so senselessly?"
"You… don't love him?" The little girl blinks quickly, white lids snapping over black eyes. Something about it seems inhuman, wrong somehow. Mikasa cannot help but think of insects.
A tear falls from her face and lands on Eren’s, snaking a trail down his cheek as though he'd shed it himself. "I can never forget what he did and I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive him for it, but I'll always love Eren."
"You wouldn't die for him?"
Mikasa answers without hesitation. "Never."
Ymir's gaze snaps up to Mikasa's, and she feels sick from what she sees in the girl's odd, dark eyes: a hunger, almost starvation, for the scraps of affection Karl Fritz would throw at her; a longing to be treated well, to be fussed over and doted on and adored. Ymir would close her eyes and dream of a shining, beautiful man when the king held her down and fucked her, made her recoil, made her bleed, beat her when she cried out or complained of the pain. She carved out a space in her mind for him where she sculpted him into her ideal. Sometime between that first bloody night and the day the assassin's spear pierced her chest she invented a Karl Fritz out of whole cloth, a man whose cold entreaties and brutal assaults were proof of his undying love.
Mikasa sees these things from Ymir’s eyes, feels the bruises forming on her back, the tearing and bleeding between her legs, the rotted wine breath of Karl Fritz in her mouth.
"I would never have jumped in front of that spear," she says, more confident than she’s ever felt. "I wouldn't even have considered it." Ymir frowns, cocks her head like she's trying to understand. "You thought you were doing the right thing, but you protected a man who never loved you. You laid down your life for a man who forced your daughters to consume your body. He didn't even mourn you."
A flash of anger contorts Ymir's face. Her eyes dart around wildly, turning Mikasa's words over in her mind. "But he loved me," she insists.
"Did he ever tell you he loved you? Or did he treat you like a slave?" Mikasa's voice wavers at the word slave, at the memory of Eren screaming at her across that restaurant table; the moment her wall of denial came crumbling down. No matter what his plan was, it became clear that day that he would step on any of them to achieve it. She had no idea how true that assessment would become, millions of bodies crushed into the contaminated earth beneath the feet of Eren’s Titans.
She wonders if things would have happened differently if he'd just admitted once that he loved her.
"You are free," she tells Ymir. "You choose your own destiny. I am free, and I chose mine."
Ymir says nothing, her eyes luminous with tears, and then dissipates into the smoke. Mikasa is vaguely aware of the wavering steam around her, of Levi flying on Falco's back and pulling her out of the Titan's mouth before everything turns hazy and white.
She can see the scene from two thousand years earlier as clear as though she were there, floating above it all: the crowd come to see King Fritz's speech, the hooded assassin's arm pulling back, the tip of the spear glinting in the daylight. The assassin lets the spear fly, its arc perfectly aimed at the heart of the tyrant. His wife Ymir, older and slimmer than the girl Mikasa met but still with those same sad, black insect eyes, watches in horror as the tip of the spear flies closer and closer; but she does not move, not even when it impales her husband through the chest and the light in his eyes is snuffed out.
In time-lapse, Mikasa sees it all: the accession of Queen Ymir, wise and fair, and the moderate reigns of her three daughters, and their daughters after them. The power of the Titans remains within the royal family, passed down from mother to daughter, a shameful, secret birthright. They create diplomatic ties with other countries, offering succor and counsel, avoiding the path of war so as not to reveal their ultimate power. There is no Great Titan War, no walls, no telepathic manipulation. The world moves forward in fits and starts as it always has, small skirmishes and occasional wars, but the Eldians remain steadfast and committed to peace. Satisfied with Ymir's choice, Mikasa finds herself closing her eyes, opening them for the first time again in the year 835, in her parents' house just outside Shiganshina, as a new doctor pulls her into the world. He is not Grisha Yeager, she notes, and then she forgets who Grisha Yeager is entirely.
In the year 845, there is no Wall Maria for the Colossal Titan to breach, and no Colossal Titan to breach it.
Inside one of the cities in what was once Wall Rose, a history teacher writes notes on a chalkboard before his first class arrives for the day. He draws a crown in the middle of the board and writes the subject of the day's class inside of it: QUEEN YMIR THE WISE. The teacher is startled by a noise behind him; he turns to find one of his students, a shy girl called Sarah, taking a seat at her desk.
"School hasn't started yet," he says. "You're supposed to be outside."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith," Sarah replies. "I was looking at a really interesting bug and the other girls started making fun of me."
The teacher nods. "All right, just this once. If you’d like, sometime I could teach you how to stand up to those girls."
Hundreds of miles away, the forests of Dauper ring with the whoops of an exuberant girl, triumphing at having killed her first deer with a bow and arrow she carved herself. She doesn't care that she's scaring the other game away with her commotion, or that she has no idea how she'll lug a hundred-pound carcass all the way back home.
In Trost, a young boy lingers over his breakfast; not because he wants to miss school, but because his mother's omelet is the most delicious thing he's ever eaten and probably ever will eat. His mother ruffles his hair and pinches his round cheek, then gently chides him to eat faster or he’ll be late.
A little boy in Ragako District, a few inches shorter than his friends, demands another explanation of the multiplication tables. He doesn't quite understand the concept, goes blank when his friends try to explain arrays of rows and columns, but he believes that he can pass today's test if he tries hard enough.
Across the sea in Marley, the prosperous Eldian District is strewn with streamers, celebrating the 2000th anniversary of the assassination of the cruel King Fritz. The children have the day off from school and are gathering in the streets, purchasing candy and ice cream from vendor stalls and exchanging them as gifts to celebrate the sweetness of life. A little blond girl receives an extra coin from her father, who tells her to get something special for herself.
A few blocks away, a doctor fills his medical bag and sets off to see his first patient of the day. As he walks through the crowd of happy children, many of whom he’s delivered himself, he hopes that his only son will change his mind and join the family business.
In Mitras, a shopkeeper opens his door for the first time, pausing for a moment in the early morning sunshine to admire the wooden shingle hanging by his doorway, gently swinging in the breeze. It depicts a hand wrapped around a mug of tea, wisps of steam rising into the air above it.
The door opens while he's adjusting the canisters on the shelf behind the counter, making sure their labels face perfectly forward. His heart leaps at the tinkle of the doorbell. He picked the most musical one, the one that made him happiest when he heard it, and he feels very good about his decision.
"Hello, welcome to Ackerman Tea— Mom!" His voice takes on an adolescent whine when he addresses his mother, which makes him feel like a child and impossibly old at the same time, despite his twenty-six years.
"Did you really think I wouldn't be your first customer?" she asks, beaming. "Of course I'm going to come support my sweet boy." Her gaze sweeps over the shop, its walls painted a deep forest green, the mahogany counter polished to a mirror shine. "I'm so proud of you, Levi. You've worked so hard and it shows." Her voice quavers, her eyes filling with tears.
"Moooom," he trills, softer this time, quietly moved. Her presence feels like an auspicious omen, a reminder from the universe that someone will catch him should he fall. "Is there a tea you’re interested in, or would you like me to help you choose? We have more than thirty varieties."
"You've been practicing," his mother notes with a nod.
Levi shrugs off her comment, feeling a bit bashful that she’s noticed his hard work. "I've never been great with people, and this job is nothing but people. At least until I can hire someone to cover the counter while I blend tea in the back."
"You'll get there soon," she says, pulling a few coins from her purse. "Get me something you'd think I'd like."
He thinks for a moment, his brow furrowing in concentration, before his face lights up and he grabs a step-stool to reach a canister of black tea flavored with strawberry and rose. "This one is sweet and floral, but it becomes so much more when you add a bit of milk. You don't even need any sugar."
"Perfect. You even thought about how I take my tea." She places a few coins on the counter, watching her son approvingly as he scoops the tea into a bag, folds it closed with surgical precision, and ties a blue ribbon around it. "You're going to be a success, my love. I know it."
"That makes one of us," he smirks, then scoops the coins into his palm and puts them in the cash register, enjoying the feel of the heavy keys under his fingers, the spring-loaded pressure of the drawer. He hopes he gets to use it many more times today.
"Will you be home for dinner?"
"I should be. I can't imagine people will want to buy tea at night."
"Good," his mother says. "Because now that you're in business, we should talk about finding you a wife."
"MOM!" he exclaims, a furious blush coloring his face.
Further south in Shiganshina, Mikasa sulks as her mother walks her into town, not wanting to leave the safety of her parents' cabin to learn and play with the other children. She is perfectly happy to do chores on the farm, to learn the simultaneously mundane and arcane secrets of coaxing a plant from seed, to throw feed to the chickens and pull weeds in the garden.
"Mikasa, you're ten years old. Your father and I can't teach you everything," her mother says.
"I can learn from books. I don't need to go to school."
"The fact that you're saying that means you need to go. There's more to the world than just our farm, my sweet. You might want to see the world someday."
The little girl huffs. "I doubt it." Her mother simply shakes her head and smiles, ruminating on her daughter’s impending teenage years, a possible hint of rebellion, but finds that hard to imagine. Mikasa is usually a calm, easygoing child, though perhaps a bit too inquisitive and stubborn for her own good.
Mikasa hugs her mother fiercely at the school gate, watching as she turns and walks back up the road that leads to their farm. She’s excited to make new friends and learn new things, but she misses her home more than she ever thought possible. She lets out a soft sigh, then turns to face the crowd of running, yelling children; her new classmates.
She trudges around the grassy schoolyard, dodging groups of kids chasing each other or playing impromptu games. Everyone seems to know each other already; even if she did feel comfortable enough to go up to someone and introduce herself, she has no idea who to approach first.
"Hey! Give that back!" someone screams behind her. Mikasa turns around to see a small blond boy jumping up and down, reaching for a book that a larger boy dangles just above his grasp. The larger boy just laughs at him, taunting him with the book, threatening to tear it from its spine.
Mikasa frowns, balling her fists at her sides, then approaches the boys. "He said to give his book back," she says to the bully. "Give it back."
The bully laughs. "You think you can tell me what to do?"
"I think you should give the book back if you know what's good for you," she snarls, putting her hands on her hips. The bully laughs again and shoves Mikasa out of the way with one hand, making her stumble backwards, tripping over her own feet until she lands on her behind in the dirt. She gets up, dusts herself off, and runs up to the bully, punching him square in the nose. He falls to the ground, dropping the book. Mikasa tosses it to the blond boy. The bully grabs his nose, tears welling in his eyes, and lets out a wail when he sees his hand smeared with blood.
"You leave him alone!" Mikasa threatens, looming over the bully, her dark eyes shining. He scrabbles to his feet and runs away and she lets out a relieved breath, her heart hammering in her chest.
"That was amazing!" the little boy says. When he approaches her, she finds that he's not actually that small, only a few inches shorter than her. "I've never seen you before. Are you new?"
"It's my first day," she replies. "I've lived here all my life but I haven't been to school yet."
"I'm Armin," the boy says. "What's your name?"
"Mikasa."
"That’s an interesting name. Are you from Hizuru?" Armin asks, his eyes wide with curiosity. He holds up his book, a thick, leather-bound tome, A Brief History of Hizuru and the Minor East Sea Islands written in gilt lettering. "My parents told me that the whole country is built around a volcano. A big mountain filled with liquid fire! Well, technically it’s molten rock."
"My mom's family is from Hizuru, but I’ve never been there and I don't know anything about any liquid fire mountains," she says tentatively.
"It's real!" he gushes. "I'm reading about it now. I could tell you about it more at recess if you want. I like to sit under that tree over there." He points off in the distance, at a huge pine tree that shades a corner of the yard. "They're going to ring the bell soon, otherwise I'd tell you now. Volcanoes are so cool. Sometimes they explode and shoot the liquid fire into the sky like a firework."
"Wow!" Mikasa marvels with a smile. "I can’t wait to hear about them."

Oooh fic game 😍 #5, #6 and #9 ??
5: Share a snippet that you’re proud of from an upcoming fic/chapter.
I have a couple of WIPs that I've abandoned because the ideas are too complex and I've been trying to finish this pegging scene in my novel for, no joke, two months now. I posted the cottagecore idea a while back so here's my abandoned Hizuru fic, where Levi and Mikasa move there separately post-canon. They don't know the other one is there but they both have extensive contacts with Kiyomi, who manipulates them both in order to get them together. She ends up tricking them into getting married sight unseen and unwittingly participating in a very unique marriage ritual that results in them fucking like coked-out rabbits. (Kiyomi's goal is that they produce a bunch of Ackerman children, who will be trained as elite supersoldiers for Hizuru. Levi and Mikasa are horrified when they figure that out.)
The sunset blazed on the horizon as the steam liner pulled into the port at Shimamoto, casting a rich orange glow over the traditional peaked roofs of Hizuru, and for the first time in his forty-one years, Levi Ackerman fell in love. His breath caught in his throat, stopping dead at the sight of the most majestic landscape he'd ever seen, rugged coast giving way to lush green hills and, beyond that, the misty rise of the largest mountain he'd ever seen, capped with pure white snow like a painting.
“This is Hizuru,” came a voice next to him. “Or at least what remains of it.” Kiyomi Azumabito set her hands on the ship's railing, the sleeves of her primrose kimono fluttering in the East Sea wind. “The land of the rising sun.”
“I see what you call it that,” he murmured. “It's beautiful. I've never seen any place like it.”
“Sounds like someone who's already been seduced by our beautiful land.”
He scowled at Kiyomi's phrasing, imagining himself digging a little hole in the ground to literally fuck the land of Hizuru. The mental image of him pumping away, his bare ass in the air as he thrusted into the dirt, made him snort out a laugh.
“What's so funny?” she asked.
“Just remembered a joke someone told me,” he lied. “It's pretty vulgar. You probably don't want to hear it.”
“Oh. No, I don't.” That was one of the things he remembered from their preparatory meetings for the trip: not to speak of bathroom humor in mixed company, though the topics men discussed amongst themselves were their business. “No woman wants to hear you talking about shit,” she’d told him.
6: What are some topics you will never write about?
I feel like noncon is an obvious one, but even then I don't mind including it if the plot requires it (see below), I just wouldn't write a graphic rape scene. I also won't write any fics involving self-injury: I don't know how common it is nowadays but there was definitely a phase in my fandom life where people were writing a lot of angst fics that were basically just scenes of their fave character cutting themselves or preparing to kill themselves, and I find that stuff both gratuitous and pointless, as well as romanticizing SI. I get that people who self-injure might be writing it as a coping mechanism, but I've personally never read a fic like that that made a larger point about mental illness or whatever.
9: Are there any fics you’d love to see but don’t want to write yourself? What are they?
I would love to see an epic post-canon fic where Mikasa decides to move to Hizuru and claim the throne that is her birthright. This idea is slightly different plot-wise and way more fucked up than the Hizuru AU above, which focuses more on Mikasa trying to navigate this new society rather than trying to rule it. I wanted to write all of the intrigue and political machinations and war that followed Mikasa's rise to power but I was having trouble keeping everything IC (I don't think Mikasa would want to rule Hizuru, for one), the story would have been mostly OCs, and a lot of the subplots I imagined were extremely fucking dark — Levi being kidnapped for Ackerman supersoldier reasons as above except he's kept as a prisoner and sexually abused, Mikasa forcing Kiyomi to cut off some of her own fingers as a show of loyalty in order to avoid death by torture for orchestrating Levi's abuse, that kind of shit — so I abandoned the idea.
Ask me some fic-related questions!
